President Obama returned from The Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark just as a massive winter storm moved across the mid-atlantic region. Fourteen inches of snow was reported at Reagan National Airport--the most snow ever recorded in a single December day.

U.S. Park service employees spent much of the weekend clearing snow and ice from the 16 acre complex while some members of The White House Press Corps, usually digging for stories, shoveled snow from camera positions instead.

First Lady Michelle Obama invited top chefs from around the nation to The White House Friday to help launch a campaign to promote healthier eating habits among school children. Rachael Ray, Cat Cora and Tom Colocchio, to name a few, were on hand as area school kids helped Ms. Obama harvest rhubarb, spinach and other veggies from the south lawn garden.

The idea is to encourage local chefs across the nation to become involved in their community's school lunch programs and, in turn, help educate both kids and parents on nutrition and childhood obesity.

President Obama met with Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai in The East Room of The White House. The meeting which included limited questions from the press corps was part of a week long visit to the US by the Afghan leader. Major Garrett snapped a series of pictures from his vantage point. The audience included, among others, General Stanley McChrystal, Admiral Mike Mullen and US ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry.

Gibbs Makes Good On Bet Then Pulls Powerplay

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs opened Friday's daily briefing sporting the Olympic Team Canada hockey jersey. The appearance was a make good on a bet with Canadian counterpart Dimitri Soudas-- spokesperson to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper . The wager was over the Gold medal match between the U.S. and Canadian women's hockey teams-- Canada prevailed 2-0. However, just moments into the briefing, Gibbs pulled somewhat of a powerplay by peeling off the Canadian jersey, revealing the Team USA colors.

A caveman at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? Washington DC tourists hoping for a glimpse of President Obama or The First Family instead discovered a familiar face outside of The White House tuesday morning. It was "lights-camera-action!" as the caveman character of Geico fame was cast as a tour guide atop a segway. The project is a joint production of Geico Insurance and The History Channel. No further details were disclosed.
