Even occasional marijuana use linked to higher stroke risk, study finds

Low-frequency users had 40% higher odds of a reported stroke, while heavy users had 25% higher odds

A new study of nearly 450,000 American adults links cannabis use to an increased risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.

The findings, scheduled for presentation at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2026 in Chicago Nov. 6–9, show that both casual and heavy marijuana users have higher odds of heart conditions compared to non-users.

Researchers analyzed survey responses collected between 2020 and 2024 through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.

SHARON STONE'S TERRIFYING WEED WITHDRAWAL SPARKS WARNING ABOUT TODAY'S POTENT MARIJUANA

People who reported using cannabis between one and five days per month had 23% higher odds of reporting a history of cardiovascular disease than non-users. Those using it 16 to 30 days per month had 21% higher odds.

"This study raises important concerns about cannabis use and cardiovascular health, particularly stroke," Dr. Kristen "Nicke" Worth, an Ohio-based physician and medical adviser at NuggMD, a telehealth platform for medical marijuana evaluations, told Fox News Digital.

"One finding I found particularly interesting was that people who used cannabis just one to five days per month had somewhat higher reported odds of a previous stroke than people who used it more frequently," added Worth, who was not involved in the study.

Low-frequency users had 40% higher odds of a reported stroke, while heavy users had 25% higher odds. The study found no statistically significant link between cannabis use and heart attacks.

MARIJUANA USERS MAY FACE HIDDEN DRIVING DANGER THAT STANDARD TESTS CAN MISS

"That isn't what we'd necessarily expect from a straightforward dose-response relationship, where greater exposure is associated with greater risk. But we shouldn't interpret this as evidence that heavier use is safer.," Worth said.

The method of consumption did not change the outcome. Whether participants smoked, vaped or consumed edibles like gummies, the risk remained consistent, according to the researchers.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

"We were surprised to find that the link between cannabis use and cardiovascular disease was not straightforward," said lead author Dr. Aabha Divya, an assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine, in an AHA press release.

"We expected that the chances of heart disease would gradually rise as people used cannabis more often, but that wasn't the case. Both low-use and heavy-use groups had higher odds of developing heart disease."

The study comes amid growing commercial availability and use of the drug across the country. According to the research team, about one in six adults reported past-month cannabis use in 2024, up from one in 10 in 2020 — a 51% increase over four years.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER

Dr. Robert L. Page II, a professor of clinical pharmacy at the University of Colorado and an American Heart Association volunteer expert who was not involved in the study, said the findings challenge common assumptions about the drug's safety.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE HEALTH STORIES

"In patients who use both, cannabis has always been considered an innocent bystander; however, this is not the case," Page said in a press release.

"Overall, cannabis is beginning to emerge as a major contributor to premature heart disease in young and older adults, which can lead to serious cardiovascular events."

Page added that doctors should question patients about marijuana use just as they do with cigarettes and alcohol.

Researchers noted several key limitations to the findings. Because the study was observational and captured data from only a single point in time, it can only show a statistical link and cannot prove that cannabis causes heart disease or strokes.

The data also relied on telephone surveys, leaving room for errors in participants' memory regarding their medical diagnoses and drug use. Additionally, the researchers did not track product strength, THC potency or total amounts consumed.

The findings remain preliminary until vetted through the full, peer-reviewed publication process.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"For patients, I wouldn't recommend making abrupt treatment decisions based on one preliminary study, but I wouldn't dismiss these findings," Worth said. "People should not discontinue prescribed cardiovascular medications because of this report."

"Anyone using cannabis, medically or recreationally, should discuss their cardiovascular history, existing risk factors, medications and treatment alternatives with their healthcare professional," she added.

STEVE MOORE: After midterm rout, here’s how Trump can start fixing affordability

Exit polls show a majority of voters say their family finances are getting worse, with energy costs a key problem

Ok, Republicans, you got run over by a Mack truck. Your day of sulking is over.

Now what?

First, acknowledge to voters that you understand what just happened. There are many reasons you lost – ICE raids, the war, lousy candidates and tariffs, to name a few.

MEHEK COOKE: REPUBLICANS FAILED THE AFFORDABILITY TEST. THIS IS HOW TO WIN VOTERS BACK

But nearly every pollster agrees the landslide came because of gas prices and "affordability."

Good news, Mr. President.

DEMOCRATS SAY THEY'LL MAKE LIFE AFFORDABLE. YOUR WALLET MAY DISAGREE

You can do something about that right now. I mean not next week. Now.

You should hold a national presidential address tonight conceding that voters are angry and financially stressed out. Tell Americans you hear them and then pledge that every policy you make over the next two years will be determined by whether it helps working-class Americans, farmers, ranchers and small businessmen and women pay their bills.

TRUMP PLEDGES TO VETO 'INSANE' DEM BILLS, PINPOINTS ISSUE PARTIALLY TO BLAME FOR REPUBLICAN LOSSES

Any Green New Deal congressional legislation that makes energy more expensive, you will veto.

You should announce to the country that you are issuing an immediate emergency executive order to bring gas prices at the pump down by 50 cents a gallon or more.

Democrats may challenge Trump on whether he has the unilateral authority to do so. He should, in that case, demand that, when Congress reconvenes Nov. 9, that the House and Senate pass this emergency legislation to bring down gas prices. If Democrats block this action, they would be telling voters they aren’t serious about delivering Americans relief at the pump.

ENERGY SECRETARY WRIGHT SAYS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OPEN TO SUSPENDING FEDERAL GAS TAX AMID PRICE SURGE

This could all be accomplished by temporarily suspending the federal gas tax of 18.4 cents a gallon until gas prices nationally fall below $4 a gallon. This order would also suspend the renewable fuel regulations that add as much as 45 cents to the cost of a gallon of gas and diesel.

As we learned on Tuesday, Nov. 3, many of your Make America Great Again voters – the men and women who have twice elected you president – have lost confidence that you’re looking out for their interests. Exit polls show a majority of voters say their own family finances are getting worse, not better.

Challenge the Democrats in Congress who won on a promise of lower gas prices to pass a law to suspend these taxes and regulations on an emergency basis to help American families.

Tell the nation that you will work with congressional Democratic leaders on any proposal that will bring these prices down.

Force the hand of the incoming Senate majority leader and House speaker by asking them what their affordability plan is. Sounds like they don’t really have one. In the Biden years, Democrats shut down pipelines and refineries – which adds to gas prices.

Tell the American people that California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has recently signed legislation that bans new offshore drilling, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has banned all drilling for 20 years. This is the state with the most expensive gas in the nation.

DAVID ASMAN: DEMOCRATS EXPLOIT GAS-PRICE PAIN WHILE IGNORING THEIR OWN RECORD

New Jersey Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill warned 12 energy companies that it is illegal to import Russian oil and gas into New Jersey harbors at the risk of criminal penalties. These are policies that will raise, not cut, gas prices.

If you hate oil and gas and the industry that produces it, as many congressional Democrats do, you probably aren’t interested in lowering its price. Ask Congress to immediately pass permitting reform so we can build new refineries and pipelines to get the oil to the gas stations.

AMERICA’S BROKEN PERMITTING SYSTEM IS QUIETLY RAISING YOUR COST OF LIVING

Challenge governors to lower or suspend their gas taxes until prices are back well below $4 a gallon. California and Illinois charge more than 70 cents a gallon on top of the 18.4 cents a gallon federal tax. If you end the ethanol mandate, in some states the gas price could fall by more than $1 a gallon.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Now that’s real affordability. That’s what voters just voted for. Is that what Democrats want?

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Find out, Mr. President.

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM STEVE MOORE

Ex-MIT professor wins $6M after sex claims wrecked career, accuser joked about ‘#hetoo’

The case centers on sexual misconduct claims that cost David Sabatini his tenured position and Whitehead Institute role

A Massachusetts jury awarded former MIT biologist Dr. David Sabatini a $6 million defamation victory over sexual misconduct claims, setting the stage for cross-appeals as both legal teams prepare to take the case to a higher court.

Dr. Kristin Knouse, the former colleague whose sexual misconduct allegations dismantled Sabatini's American academic career, is challenging the October verdict. Her decision triggered a battle over legal consequences surrounding workplace misconduct claims and the authority of campus tribunals.

Knouse’s attorney, Ellen Zucker, believes that the $6 million verdict could potentially stop female scientists from reporting misconduct, claiming the jury's decision reflects a society that refuses to believe women who challenge powerful men.

US OLYMPIC HERO NANCY HOGSHEAD WINS LEGAL BATTLE AFTER VOLLEYBALL COACH'S $250M DEFAMATION SUIT IS DISMISSED

"When someone can get sued for having spoken out, that kills the willingness of anyone to participate in an investigation," Zucker told Fox News Digital. "Daring to speak out will get you sued, [and] the likelihood that anyone would come forward goes down a lot."

Sabatini’s legal team rejected the narrative. His attorney, Lisa G. Arrowood, told Fox News Digital that the verdict poses zero threat to genuine victims.

"The jury verdict in this case should have no impact on women who truly have been harassed or abused and decide to report the misconduct," Arrowood said.

"What the jury found here, based on the contemporaneous documents written by Dr. Knouse herself, was that no harassment ever occurred and that her claims of harassment and rape were false and defamatory. This jury verdict, therefore, has no bearing on people who report truthfully."

Arrowood also expressed confidence that the $6 million penalty would withstand appeal.

"This is her right," Arrowood said. "However, the judge was very careful in this case and frequently ruled in her favor on many close calls. We think her appeal will be unsuccessful."

FORMER CAL SOFTBALL PLAYER FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST UNIVERSITY, FEMALE EX-COACH OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

Zucker argued that the verdicts will not stand, warning that penalizing accusers threatens future institutional investigations.

"We do not believe the verdicts will stand," Zucker said. "Our client came to court and told the truth about her experiences with Sabatini, as did multiple other women; investigators uncovered several violations of institutional policy."

The upcoming appellate fight will scrutinize the events that led to the lawsuit.

Consensual or coerced

The pair first met in 2012, when Knouse was a doctoral student in the Harvard-MIT M.D./Ph.D. program and Sabatini served on her thesis committee. By 2018 — after Knouse had been named a Whitehead Fellow — they began a relationship, according to court documents.

FORMER UCLA GYNECOLOGIST SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO SEXUALLY ASSAULTING PATIENTS AT SCHOOL

Sabatini maintained the relationship was consensual. Knouse alleged it was coerced and that Sabatini created an inappropriate workplace dynamic. A 2021 Whitehead investigation found Sabatini violated its workplace relationship policy.

Text messages made public during the case showed Knouse wrote that she would "fixate on how I’m being held as a backup and competed against other women," Boston 25 News reported.

In one message about visiting Sabatini's hotel room one night on a work retreat, she wrote: "In hindsight, it was quite aggressive, #hetoo," according to the outlet.

Knouse launched a campaign against Sabatini that she called "Covert Operation Dethrone," Boston 25 reported, and joked in one message about buying a "Lambo" if she won a settlement.

"Dr. Sabatini and his legal team do not criticize the MeToo movement or the right of women to complain of harassment," Arrowood added. "This case is unique in that the jury found that Dr. Knouse’s claims were fabricated and designed to cause harm to Dr. Sabatini."

After Knouse accused him of sexual misconduct, MIT administrators stripped Sabatini of his tenured position. The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) dismissed him. The Whitehead Institute ousted him.

CBS NEWS FACES $20M DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AFTER MISIDENTIFYING MARYLAND TEENAGER IN REFLECTING POOL REPORT

Arrowood said that Sabatini’s team is launching its own counter-offensive on appeal, seeking to overturn the court’s earlier decision that dismissed the Whitehead Institute from the lawsuit.

MIT and HHMI were not defendants in the defamation lawsuit.

MIT declined to comment but referred Fox News Digital to a letter sent out to staff in 2022, when Sabatini resigned and the school said he was found to have "behaved in ways incompatible with the responsibilities of faculty membership."

HHMI did not respond to a request for comment.

BIDEN OFFICIALS CIRCUMVENTED COURT ORDER IN TITLE IX CASES, INCLUDING MALES IN GIRLS’ SPORTS, DOCS SHOW

Title IX Investigations

The universities based their firings on internal Title IX investigations, which concluded that Sabatini violated policies by entering into an undisclosed romantic relationship with a junior researcher.

The campus tribunals require a low burden of proof, which rarely allows the accused to cross-examine the accuser, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.

Arrowood argued that the institutions rushed to judgment before the facts could be tested in a civil court.

"This verdict should send universities the message that all the facts and documents from both sides need to be obtained and analyzed before deciding to fire someone," she said.

SEND US A TIP

"Here, the investigators and the Whitehead Institute allowed one party and her lawyers to control what evidence they received and even what they could show to Dr. Sabatini. Had the full picture been shown to the institution and to the investigators, we believe the outcome would have been different."

GOT A TIP?

When the legal battle reached a Suffolk County courtroom, the jury denied Knouse’s counterclaims of harassment and instead ordered her to pay Sabatini millions for defamation.

While Sabatini won the courtroom battle, the years-long ordeal destroyed his U.S. research operation. Activist billionaire Bill Ackman stepped in and funded a new laboratory for Sabatini in Prague, where Sabatini continues his life-saving cancer research.

GET BREAKING NEWS BY EMAIL

"I lost everything. There was nothing left of my normal life," Sabatini previously told Boston 25 News. "I've been dreaming about this moment for all this time, but often thinking I might not make it, financially, emotionally or physically."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The case now moves to the Massachusetts appellate courts.
Fox News' "Antisemitism Exposed" newsletter brings you stories on the rising anti-Jewish prejudice across the U.S. and the world.

Fox News' "Antisemitism Exposed" newsletter brings you stories on the rising anti-Jewish prejudice across the U.S. and the world.

IN TODAY’S NEWSLETTER:
- DSA rallies behind radical anti-Semite Hasan Piker after election triumph
- Jewish activist vows not to be silenced after being attacked on University of Michigan
- NHL team apologizes after anti-Israel banners displayed at recent game

TOP STORY: The Democratic Socialists of America sparked furious outrage after tapping controversial Twitch star Hasan Piker to anchor their election night broadcast. ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt scorched the socialist group for elevating raw antisemitism and terror apologists. Piker fired back with a vulgar online tirade while celebrating a Democratic blowout and fantasizing about putting Donald Trump behind bars.

VIDEO: Former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized progressive Democrats who hesitated to defend Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. WATCH HERE:

CAMPUS CLASH: Conservative Jewish influencer Lizzy Benichou was violently shoved to the concrete during an open debate at the University of Michigan. The altercation erupted after an enraged woman allegedly slapped a fellow speaker with a phone and lunged when challenged on women's rights in Iran. Police detained the student suspect, but an undaunted Benichou insists she will not be silenced.

THREAT LESSON: Outrage is exploding at elite Manhattan public school Stuyvesant High after its Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter endorsed an incendiary post screaming "Intifada Until Victory." Advocacy group #EndJewHatred called the slogan an explicit threat to Jewish students, demanding school brass and education officials take immediate action while the NYC-DSA scrambled to distance itself from the high schoolers' post.

SHAME ON ICE: The St. Louis Blues are scrambling to clean up a PR nightmare after anti-Israel demonstrators hijacked their home game against Vegas. Radical protesters unfurled banners declaring "Free America from Israel" and "Israel kills" in the arena stands. Team chairman Tom Stillman torched the "unforgivable" stunt, apologizing to fans and vowing vile antisemitic rhetoric will never be tolerated on their ice.

GUEST EDITORIAL: B'nai B'rith International CEO Evan R. Bernstein warns that antisemitism is converging in real time from both fringes of the political spectrum. Citing NYC stabbings, London street assaults, and French unrest, he argues the far-right frames Jews as conspiratorial puppet masters while the far-left brands them as oppressors, leaving Jews targeted by both extremes while safety is treated as secondary.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "Students deserve a learning environment free from Jew-hatred, and families deserve to know that school leadership takes their concerns seriously." - Michelle Ahdoot, of #EndJewHatred, on sinister posts targeting Jews at a prestigious Manhattan school.

- Looking for more on this topic? Find more antisemitism coverage from Fox News here.

- Did someone forward you this email? Subscribe to additional newsletters from Fox News here.

- Want live updates? Get the Fox News app here

JACKSON THOMPSON: NH school district pays $275K after banning fathers' for 'XX' wristbands at soccer game

Four plaintiffs who wore pink 'XX' wristbands opposing transgender participation in girls soccer win $275,000 settlement

A New Hampshire school district that banned two fathers from school grounds after they wore pink "XX" wristbands opposing transgender participation in girls' sports has agreed to a federal court judgment declaring it violated the plaintiffs’ First Amendment rights.

The resolution, approved Thursday by U.S. District Judge Steven McAuliffe, ends more than two years of litigation and requires the district’s risk pool to pay $275,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs.

TRANS ATHLETES DROP LAWSUIT TO GAIN ACCESS TO GIRLS' SPORTS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AFTER SCOTUS RULING

The judgment protects the four plaintiffs’ right to silently wear the wristbands along the sidelines, in spectator areas and in parking lots at any Bow School District sporting event. It expressly declares that the district violated their constitutional rights when it barred the wristbands at a Sept. 17, 2024, girls varsity soccer game.

"It took more than two years, but the court has recognized that what happened to us was wrong," plaintiff Kyle Fellers said in a statement reported by The Associated Press.

Fellers said the ban kept him from attending half of his daughter’s soccer games during her senior year.

The case grew out of a game between Bow High School and Plymouth Regional High School, whose girls team included transgender player Parker Tirrell. The wristbands’ "XX" symbols referenced female chromosomes and expressed opposition to allowing biological males to compete in girls' sports.

DOJ REVIEWING PORTLAND THORNS INCIDENT SHOWING WOMEN’S SPORTS SUPPORTERS STRUCK, FORCIBLY REMOVED

School officials, accompanied by a police officer, confronted spectators over the wristbands. The confrontation escalated, the referee halted play and Fellers and Anthony "Andy" Foote subsequently received no-trespass orders.

Fox News Digital previously reported on Foote’s ban after he wore the wristband to his daughter’s game.

Fellers, Foote, Nicole Foote and grandfather Eldon Rash brought the lawsuit with representation from the Institute for Free Speech and local attorney Richard J. Lehmann.

Under the settlement, Primex, the district’s risk pool, will pay $225,000 to the institute and $50,000 to Lehmann Major List PLLC. Each plaintiff will receive an additional $17.91, an amount the institute said symbolizes 1791, when the First Amendment was ratified.

School officials had defended their response as an effort to protect students from harassment. Before the game, officials received reports about possible heckling and communications they believed suggested the protest could escalate. The fathers testified that they did not intend to harass or target the player.

The parents initially suffered a setback when McAuliffe denied their request for a preliminary injunction in April 2025.

But the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals concluded Aug. 26 that the plaintiffs were likely to succeed on their claim of viewpoint discrimination and sent the case back for further proceedings.

The appeals court found no evidence the silent protest caused a material disruption before school officials intervened. It also found no evidence that any player actually saw the wristbands.

The plaintiffs "did not march, shout, chant, or otherwise disrupt the game," the court wrote, concluding their conduct "fell short of harassment and disruption."

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

The panel also pointed to administrators’ descriptions of the message as exclusionary or hateful as evidence that officials likely punished the spectators because they disagreed with their views.

Thursday’s resolution is a stipulated judgment agreed to by the parties. The settlement contains a provision denying wrongdoing except as expressly established in the judgment, which declares the district’s wristband ban unconstitutional.

The judgment binds the district, its Board of Education and their successors. It remains effective even if the district revises its conduct policies or athletics handbook, and the court retains authority to enforce it and the settlement.

The Associated Press reported that an attorney for the district did not respond to its request for comment.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The Institute for Free Speech said the order arrived in time for a Bow girls varsity soccer playoff game scheduled for Friday, Nov. 6.

'Democrats, when we have the power, you have to use it,' Pressley declared

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., is pressing her party to wield their power to push far-left policies such as passing Medicare for All and reparations, and abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

During remarks on Tuesday, Pressley declared, "Alright, now as I close I have a message for my colleagues in the House who are likely watching. Democrats, when we have the power, you have to use it. Democrats, can you hear me now? When we have the power we have to use it.

"Now, please don't tell me about a majority, show me a majority.
Inside ICE's high-stakes raids targeting illegal migrants in NYC as chief rips sanctuary laws

Fox News Digital embedded with ICE agents during high-stakes arrests on the streets of New York City

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — With New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani escalating his opposition to ICE, federal agents continue to carry out high-stakes street arrests that one of the agency's top officials says could be avoided if the city cooperated with federal authorities instead of enforcing its sanctuary policies.

Fox News Digital embedded with ICE agents last Thursday, getting a rare, firsthand look at the surveillance, tense stakeouts and split-second decisions behind arrests on Brooklyn streets — while riding along with the agency's top local enforcement official as he blasted city and state leaders over policies he says put officers and the public at risk.

The early-morning operation saw agents move in on two men, handcuffing them and rushing them into unmarked SUVs. The first arrest was over in seconds. The second turned into a tense struggle.

MAMDANI CALLS ICE A 'ROGUE' AGENCY AFTER NYC SHOOTING, CLAIMS AGENTS VIEW LAW AS 'MERELY A SUGGESTION'

Behind the wheel was Ken Genalo, head of ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in New York City, who accused Mamdani, Gov. Kathy Hochul and the City Council of keeping dangerous offenders on the streets.

"100% all of this is about politics. It is not about public safety," Genalo said as he sat in his vehicle while his team staked out a Georgian illegal migrant charged with sexual abuse.

He argued that sanctuary laws force ICE to track down suspects who should have been handed over to agents at local jails. Instead, agents have to try and apprehend migrants on city streets.

"They don't acknowledge the victims, they don't acknowledge the angel families, those that unfortunately have suffered severe loss due to illegal alien crime," he said.

The operation came less than a week after Mamdani released a Spanish-language video advising New Yorkers on how to respond to ICE agents, as tensions flared following the shooting of a Dominican migrant who authorities say tried to ram officers with his vehicle. The migrant had been in the U.S. for just three years but had already racked up a lengthy rap sheet for theft, robbery, assault, drug and weapons offenses, according to DHS.

The Brooklyn arrests came amid a wider enforcement push, with ICE arresting nearly 2,200 illegal migrants during a statewide crackdown in August, known as Operation Rotten Apple.

But the ride-along with ICE revealed what those figures cannot: hours of painstaking surveillance, careful planning and tense waiting — all for arrests that can be over in seconds and quickly escalate.

WATCH: NYC ICE official rips Mamdani, sanctuary laws after tense street arrests

DHS BOSS REVEALS OVAL OFFICE PLAN TO 'WITHHOLD FUNDING' FROM SANCTUARY CITIES AFTER AGGRESSIVE NEW YORK BUST

Inside ICE's predawn raids

Before dawn Thursday, more than a dozen armed ICE agents gathered at a secret Brooklyn location, wearing protective vests marked "ERO."

Commanders briefed them on several targets and the potential risks: one might be armed, another was an amateur boxer. The stark warnings offered a glimpse into the dangers agents face as they head onto the streets to carry out arrests.

Agents checked their gear, attached body cameras to their vests and hit the streets around 5:50 a.m.

Genalo drove an unmarked SUV, monitoring radio chatter and explaining how agents tracked their targets, what could go wrong and why timing was critical.

The first target was Nika Tkeshelashvili, 40, a Georgian national who ICE said entered the United States illegally through the southern border in January 2023 and was arrested in September on a first-degree sexual abuse charge. The charge remains pending.

His next immigration court hearing wasn't until October 2028 — a five-year wait that drew disbelief from Genalo.

As the SUV rolled through Brooklyn, Genalo explained how agents establish a "pattern of life" — studying a suspect's routine to determine when and where to make an arrest.

In Tkeshelashvili's case, the intelligence was surprisingly mundane. Agents believed he regularly emerged between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. to move his car and avoid a parking ticket.

Unmarked ICE vehicles took up positions along nearby streets while Fox News Digital waited with Genalo roughly half a block away, with a clear view of the apartment building where the Georgian national was expected to emerge.

But as the minutes ticked by, he was nowhere to be seen. Genalo remained unfazed.

Meanwhile, daylight crept across the neighborhood, bringing commuters, schoolchildren and growing traffic. Genalo explained that darkness was an ally during these operations, but as the streets filled, a discreet arrest became harder.

MAMDANI DEMANDS TRUMP RELEASE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SHOT BY ICE AGENT AS PROTESTS ERUPT IN THE BRONX

Even weeks of surveillance could not guarantee Tkeshelashvili would appear, Genalo explained. If he stayed inside, agents might have to return another day.

Then, at 7:57 a.m., a voice broke over the radio.

"Target one just stepped out with a cigarette going towards the car if I'm not mistaken," an agent reported.

Genalo raised his hand and pointed toward the radio. "I think that's ours," he said as more chatter crackled through the SUV.

"He's wearing a black vest, red shirt, red hat," another agent radioed.

"Team two, that's Tango. That's Tango," an agent called out.

Within moments, agents converged on Tkeshelashvili in the middle of the street. Genalo accelerated toward the scene, the arrest unfolding through the SUV's windshield.

By the time Fox News Digital pulled up, officers had already handcuffed Tkeshelashvili and were moving him into a waiting vehicle. He remained calm and said little. Within moments, the team was moving on toward Target 2.

Genalo hailed the arrest as "textbook" and "flawless," praising the intelligence, timing and surprise that allowed agents to secure their target without a struggle.

Speed, he explained, was critical.

Minutes earlier, we heard over Genalo’s radio that another ICE team had encountered agitators blowing whistles, shouting and warning locals that federal agents were nearby.

The team was pursuing an Ecuadorian migrant who faced sexual misconduct charges involving a child, Genalo said, but the agitators disrupted the operation.

"Why would you protest that we're trying to arrest this individual?" Genalo said.

A tense struggle on Brooklyn streets

As we pulled away from the first arrest scene, Genalo briefed us on the next target: Yves Frantz Augustine, 45, a Haitian national who ICE said entered the U.S. legally in 1997 but overstayed his visa. Ordered deported in 2006, he remained in the country, later amassing a criminal record that included an assault conviction for which he served seven years in prison, along with weapons offenses and a terroristic threat case, according to ICE.

Augustine previously served seven years in prison for assault, but ICE's attempt to deport him in 2011 during the Obama administration failed because Haiti would not issue the necessary travel documents, Genalo said.

ICE tried to take him into custody after further arrests, but New York authorities refused to hand him over despite three detainer requests, according to Genalo.

Agents faced a major concern during this operation: Augustine was taking a child to school.

Genalo explained that agents would wait until Augustine drops off the child before moving in, saying ICE policy is to avoid making arrests near schools or in the presence of children.

Another team of agents was tracking Augustine from cars and on foot, relaying updates over the radio as Brooklyn's morning rush gathered pace.

Genalo pulled up alongside the curb, explaining that Augustine was expected to walk straight toward our SUV. We waited as traffic rolled past and officers closed in on his position.

At approximately 8:26 a.m., the go-ahead came over the radio.

Agents quickly surrounded Augustine just ahead of our SUV, grabbing his arms as they tried to handcuff him.

"Don't move! Police! Let me see your hands!" an officer shouted, drawing his weapon.

"We have a warrant for your arrest!" another announced.

But Augustine refused to put his hands behind his back, prompting the agents to press him against the metal shutters of a closed storefront as they struggled to cuff him.

"No, no, no, no," Augustine shouted.

"Sir, don't fight," an officer warned, while a third appeared and tried to calm him.

"Just put your hands behind your back, sir," the third agent said, placing his hand on his shoulder.

As agents led Augustine away in handcuffs, his jacket slipped down, revealing the words "it's all a trap" emblazoned across the back of his shirt. The front read "NOCOMP."

He continued pulling back as agents moved him toward a waiting SUV, pleading for his children.

"Think about my kids," he cried out, according to footage recorded by Fox News Digital.

Appearing stunned, he continued questioning the arrest.

"A warrant for what?" he shouted and asked to call his wife before claiming he was now a U.S. citizen. An officer showed him the warrant and gave him time to read it before placing him in the SUV.

Genalo disputed the citizenship claim, citing Augustine's 2006 deportation order.

The arrest took roughly four minutes, far longer than the first, before agents secured Augustine and cleared the street.

Back in the SUV, Genalo said Augustine's resistance forced officers to use additional restraint techniques, explaining that agents typically move detainees to a secure location before transferring them to an ICE processing facility.

"We want to get in, make the arrest, and get out as fast as possible," Genalo said.

He also rejected accusations that ICE agents abduct or disappear people, defending the speed of the arrests as a safety precaution.

"We don't kidnap people, we don't disappear people. We arrest people," he said.

ICE vs. City Hall

For Genalo, the arrests reflected a wider battle over law and order — with ICE trying to remove dangerous offenders while city leaders refuse to cooperate and protesters work to disrupt operations.

"You have murderers on the street. I mean, that by itself is absolutely amazing that you can say you're keeping the community safe by releasing murderers back on the streets," he said.

Genalo said both Brooklyn suspects had previously been in local custody, but authorities ignored ICE requests to hand them over. The refusals, he argued, wasted taxpayer money and put officers, suspects and the public at risk.

During the stakeout for Tkeshelashvili, agents feared their cover was blown when an NYPD patrol car appeared, adding another hurdle amid limited cooperation with local police. Genalo suggested a resident may have called police, but the concern was quickly resolved.

Genalo laid much of the blame on Mamdani, Hochul and the City Council, accusing them of putting political ideology ahead of public safety while allowing offenders to return to the communities they claim to protect.

"They're criminals that committed heinous crimes. And they should not be in the community," Genalo said of many of the migrants ICE has been apprehending.

For Genalo, a Brooklyn native and 34-year law enforcement veteran deployed to Ground Zero with a special response team after 9/11, the breakdown in cooperation is personal. He recalled when ICE worked closely with local police and had its own unit at Rikers Island, taking more than 100 people a week into custody directly from the jail. Today there is no cooperation.

Genalo blamed former Mayor Bill de Blasio for ending the arrangement and said former Mayor Eric Adams tried to restore cooperation but was hamstrung by the City Council. Mamdani, meanwhile, has called for ICE to be abolished and publicly opposed its enforcement operations.

Genalo repeatedly fumed over New York City's sanctuary policies throughout the ride-along, challenging city leaders to put the issue on the ballot and let New Yorkers decide whether police should cooperate with ICE.

"Let the residents decide," he said.

A bipartisan push for a public vote in 2024 and 2025 went nowhere. Genalo suggested council members feared the result.

Genalo also criticized anti-ICE protest networks that monitor federal vehicles, alert residents and mobilize protesters when officers are spotted.

Even before Thursday's operation began, a car carrying civilians circled the agents' secret meeting point and parked nearby, raising suspicions that its occupants might be spotters. Officers kept watch until the car drove away.

"I give a lot of kudos to the men and women of ICE in New York City and nationwide staying professional in spite of the agitation that they're facing," he said.

Despite his blistering criticism of Mamdani and the city's sanctuary policies, Genalo said he was willing to talk with the mayor.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"I just wish we could sit down and collaborate and come to an agreement because we have the same job to do, and that's to keep the people of the community of New York City safe," Genalo said.

"The men and women of ICE in New York City will not waver," he said.

Clash in the castle: Medieval Times dinner theater insiders allege animal cruelty, sexual harassment

A former 'queen' of the Buena Park castle alleges cyberbullying, doxxing and gender discrimination

For 43 years, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament performers across North America have captivated audiences as jousting knights and bejeweled ladies on horseback.

But now the company’s own castle is under siege as former employees allege in lawsuits that the company shrouds a culture of animal cruelty, sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying and retaliation for reporting abuse.

At the shows, guests dine on what’s billed as a medieval-style feast, as they cheer on armor-clad knights, who participate in a tournament on horseback and battle with swords.

The chain established its first location in Kissimmee, Florida, near Orlando, in 1983. The company now employs more than 2,000 at 10 "castles" in the United States and Canada.

MEDIEVAL-THEMED LIVE SHOWS DRAW YOUNG WOMEN WHO ARE LOOKING FOR LOVE AND JADED BY MODERN DATING: REPORT

The theater’s show champions the "chivalry" of their knights. But some who work alongside those performers say the culture is biased against female cast members.

A former "queen" of the castle is now suing the company, alleging a workplace environment "rooted in gender discrimination and sexual harassment."

Another whistleblower alleged that she was fired for voicing concerns about animal cruelty.

FORMER DISNEY CHANNEL STAR ALLEGES SHE WAS SEXUALLY ABUSED AT 14 AFTER BEING TOLD TO ‘BOND’ WITH EMPLOYEE

Royal rivalry

A civil lawsuit was filed in June by a former cast member of the Buena Park, California, castle. She alleges a hostile work environment with widespread sexual harassment.

Kaitlyn Farrell resigned in February 2024 because of "intolerable" conditions after joining the company as a "queen" five years earlier, according to the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California, in Orange County.

The "two-tiered workplace culture" treats female cast members as "a lesser class of employee," she said in the lawsuit.

Farrell alleges that unwanted sexual advances toward female employees are "normalized" and "gender-based misconduct" and that complaints are "dismissed" with "indifference."

While working at Medieval Times, she was asked to be a witness in a workplace harassment investigation for another employee.

That made her the "target of open retaliation by the very employee she reported on," her lawsuit alleges.

Management stood by and did nothing, she said.

On another occasion, according to the lawsuit, a manager ordered someone to "remove stitching" from her costumes, what she calls a "calculated sabotage" that was "maliciously intended to cause wardrobe malfunctions in front of live audiences."

After employees unionized at the Buena Park location, and she participated in a strike in February 2023, Farrell said she became the "primary target of an extreme, sexualized cyberbullying and doxxing campaign."

Anonymous social media accounts with "obvious indications" of employee or management involvement posted content such as her dating history, sexually derogatory captions and photoshopped images with her face "on the bodies of semi-nude cartoon characters depicted in simulated sexual positions," the lawsuit alleges.

DISNEYLAND, ACTORS' UNION CLASH OVER PARENTAL LEAVE, BENEFITS AS UNION NEGOTIATES FIRST CONTRACT

The harassment escalated to physical stalking when Medieval Times employees "traveled to Ms. Farrell's secondary workplace" at another theme park "to physically intimidate her while she was working" to entertain guests, the lawsuit alleges.

When she made formal complaints about the behavior, an attorney for Medieval Times issued a written letter dismissing the cyberbullying and stalking as "weird allegations."

"We look forward to proving these allegations in court," Farrell’s attorney, Charles Ludd Jr., told Fox News Digital.

‘False claims’

Medieval Times did not respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit. But former employee Bill Elliot calls Farrell’s allegations "false claims."

Elliot worked at the same Medieval Times location as a knight until leaving after 12 1/2 years in 2015. He had no complaints with the company, he told Fox News Digital in a text message.

"The company took care of us," he said. "We had decent pay; full-time hours with overtime … full medical, dental and vision insurance; and 401K."

He believes that people making claims against the company are part of "the-rich-need-to-pay-their-fair-share group" and want to cash in, he said.

"They have no responsibility in running a company that employs thousands of people and no risk in doing it, but believe they deserve more of the profit," he said.

"If it was such a toxic environment and company, they could have immediately removed themselves, but didn't," he said.

It was common for female cast members to seek "attention from the knights and [they] did everything to try and get that attention," Elliot said.

"Now, because those females didn't get their way or what they wanted, they started making false claims and screaming ‘toxic masculinity’ or any other buzzwords to get attention."

Animal-cruelty allegations

Farrell’s lawsuit isn’t the first to make concerning claims against the dinner theater company.

In her 2019 lawsuit, Bethany Regan tells about how she joined the Buena Park castle in 2013. During her employment, she was treated "less favorably" than male cast members, according to court documents.

When she became increasingly concerned about the welfare of the equine performers, she made reports to management, the lawsuit alleges.

The head trainer had a "volatile temper" and would whip horses "unnecessarily" until they had "large welts" over their body, according to the lawsuit.

Some horses were trained in ways that made them bleed from their mouths and in various places on their bodies, she alleged. Horses were "overworked" and sometimes weren’t allowed to rest until they were dehydrated, according to her complaint.

One horse died as a result, she alleged.

Regan had been warned that the head horse trainer was a close friend of the owner of the company and that any complaints could result in "retaliation." She brought up her concerns anyway.

She also reported "dangerous and unsafe working conditions" for female cast members.

After she made formal complaints, the company suspended her for "starting rumors," her lawsuit alleges. Later, her job was terminated.

The lawsuit was settled in 2020. The conditions of the settlement were not made public.

Regan’s attorney did not respond to a request from Fox News Digital for comment.

Horses in the spotlight

Yvonne Barteau was principal trainer and director of entertainment operations for six years at Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction. Minutes away from a Florida Medieval Times castle, the horse-themed dinner theater operated from 1988 until 2014.

Barteau now runs a horse rescue in Florida called Horses without Humans. She founded the operation after making a documentary about theater horses in the United States.

Over the years, she worked with many Medieval Times performers as they moved between dinner theater jobs in the Orlando, Florida, area, she told Fox News Digital.

It was common for young performers to get "way too into their role, like they're really medieval warriors," Barteau said. "I think they got too into the identity."

That led to men treating women in a "callous" way, she said, "and I think it was not frowned upon the way that it should be. So yeah, certainly back then, I saw it."

Dinner theater jobs "seemed to attract people like that. And then sometimes the upper management didn't shut it down like they should have," she said.

She met "good people" at Medieval Times. She met others that were not so good, she said.

And there’s never an excuse for abusing a horse, she said.

"Anybody that works with horses, or works with something that has no voice of its own—children, horses, any animal—you have to be the voice," she said.

But "in today’s culture," she said, people with little experience with horses assume that any performance with a horse should be considered cruel.

SEND US A TIP

And that’s simply wrong, she said.

GOT A TIP?

"They haven't seen how some horses really do light up, and they do love to be out there performing," she said. "They love the attention."

She has performed for years with a stallion named Papi.

GET BREAKING NEWS BY EMAIL

"He's an absolute theater horse—he's a Brad Pitt.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"People see that horse, and they remember him, and it makes them love horses.
Blood sugar spikes could hinge on the order you eat your food, study suggests

Simple shift in eating habits may help control blood sugar, but experts urge caution

A simple change to the order in which you eat could help blunt blood sugar spikes, new research suggests, but experts say it's not necessarily a "quick fix."

In a study published in the journal Diabetes in October, mice that received olive oil 15 minutes before glucose — a simple sugar the body uses for energy — had a smaller early rise in blood sugar than mice given glucose first or glucose alone. The researchers also saw the effect in mice with type 2 diabetes and severe insulin deficiency.

The researchers also tested other dietary fats, suggesting the response may not be unique to olive oil. The experiment offers clues about why food order may matter.

BUTTER, BEEF TALLOW DEBATE ISN'T OVER AS HEART EXPERTS WARN OF RISKS AND US GUIDELINES DIFFER ON FATS

"Our findings suggest that the order in which nutrients reach the gut can engage a coordinated hormone-nerve response that changes how quickly the stomach delivers glucose to the intestine," corresponding author Dr. Daisuke Yabe of Kyoto University said in a statement.

When the mice received fat before sugar, their stomachs released food into the intestine more slowly and their blood sugar rose less sharply at first.

THE 8 HEALTHIEST BEANS YOU SHOULD BE EATING MORE OFTEN, ACCORDING TO NUTRITION EXPERT

The researchers also found that giving the mice fat first triggered early increases in two hormones, glucagon and GLP-1. Although glucagon is usually known for raising blood sugar, the researchers found that the two hormones appear to work together to help limit the rise in glucose.

Yabe said the group's research is inspired by practical approaches people can sustain. "Meal-sequencing is appealing because it merely changes how a meal is eaten rather than requiring people to avoid entire food groups," he said.

BEST FOODS FOR REDUCING DANGEROUS BELLY FAT AND PROTECTING HEART HEALTH

The researchers, however, said further studies are needed to test meal sequencing in people.

The study adds to research on how food order may offer a practical way to moderate blood sugar, Huma Chaudhry, a Chicago-based registered dietitian and founder of Dose of Nutrition, told Fox News Digital.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER

Chaudhry also cautioned, however, that since the study was conducted on mice, "We can't assume the same results would occur in humans."

Previous human research suggests eating vegetables or protein before carbohydrates may also help moderate post-meal blood sugar, while more research is needed on olive oil specifically, she said.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE NEWS

"The takeaway isn't that everyone should start drinking olive oil before a meal," she said, adding that there is "no need to treat it like a supplement or quick fix."

"The bigger message is about building balanced meals that naturally contain healthy fats, protein, fiber and carbohydrates," Chaudhry added.

The mice were fasted overnight and received olive oil and glucose separately, 15 minutes apart, which is different from people eating a typical balanced meal.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

Chaudhry suggested starting with a leafy green salad dressed with olive oil before pasta, or pairing eggs with toast at breakfast. Food sequencing doesn't require separating foods by a set interval, Chaudhry said.

At dinner, for instance, someone might eat a salad dressed in olive oil first and then have chicken and pasta, which can raise blood sugar, together.

"Food order may influence blood sugar alongside the overall quality and balance of our meals," she said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital reached out to the study authors for comment.

One industry faces multitrillion-dollar reckoning after historic midterm election reshuffle

The election outcome is forcing emerging tech companies to reconsider where to spend billions to build their future

President Donald Trump has thrown the federal government's weight behind massive data center build-outs needed to power the country's artificial intelligence (AI) boom. But a historic Democratic sweep in Texas has put one of the nation's biggest AI infrastructure hubs under new political leadership, raising questions about the future of billions of dollars in planned investments.

The victories marked a historic midterm night for Texas Democrats, who captured the governor's mansion for the first time in more than three decades and won a U.S. Senate seat for the first time since 1988.

Texas is poised to overtake Virginia as the nation's largest data center market and is projected to account for roughly a quarter of new U.S. data center power capacity through 2030. With at least 248 projects planned across the state, investment bank Jefferies estimates that 13.3 gigawatts of announced developments could be at risk under a moratorium backed by Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa.

ONE STATE IS GROUND ZERO AS TRUMP'S MULTIBILLION-DOLLAR TECH AMBITIONS FACE A MIDTERM TEST

Texas was hardly alone in facing growing opposition to data center development. In Ohio, voters weighed 21 data center-related ballot questions across 18 communities in the midterm elections, more than any other state, highlighting the mounting resistance to America's rapidly expanding AI infrastructure.

The results this week are now forcing some developers to reconsider where to invest billions of dollars in future projects as political power shifts.

"It makes us and our investors pause and think if we should be investing somewhere else," Brittany Kaiser, CEO of Alpha Compute, told Fox News Digital following the Republican bloodbath in Tuesday's election.

Kaiser warned that political shifts in traditionally Republican states could push billions of dollars in planned investments elsewhere, including overseas, as companies weigh growing opposition to data center development — especially within the Democratic Party.

"There's new decision making that needs to come into play and a lot more to think about than there was before the election," she said.

IT TOOK 3 MONTHS TO GET INSIDE THIS MASSIVE TEXAS DATA CENTER — HERE’S WHAT WE SAW

But relocating projects already underway is far more complicated, particularly when developers have secured land, negotiated power agreements and committed substantial capital.

"It's not very easy to pivot after you've already made contractual and financial commitments to these types of builds," Kaiser said.

For projects still in the pipeline, however, companies have more flexibility. Kaiser said Alpha Compute has already invested in data centers in Canada, Europe and Mexico, where regulatory approvals are more straightforward.

The backlash highlights growing tensions between Washington's push to accelerate AI development and voters' concerns about electricity costs and the impact of data centers on their communities.

Kaiser urged incoming lawmakers to strike a balance between addressing community concerns and preserving what she called "the biggest economic opportunity of our generation."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"It's really important, yes, to make sure that data center companies are good actors and are doing things the right way," she said, calling for "common sense legislation and regulation" that allows developers to work with lawmakers and local communities.

"If we can abide by those rules, then bans and moratoriums should not be the answer," Kaiser said. "It's just let's sensibly regulate and move forward in a way that is positively impactful for communities."

Sophie Cunningham responds to social media backlash with strong Mike Tyson quote after political post

The WNBA star had shared Andy Frisella's message emphasizing self-improvement over faith in elections

After emphasizing personal growth over political identity on her social media, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham isn’t standing for the vitriol she seems to have received from some internet trolls.

On Wednesday, a day after Democrats dominated the midterm elections, Cunningham reposted a diatribe from entrepreneur Andy Frisella on her Instagram Story.

"One of the strangest things about our culture is how much faith we’ve placed in elections to change our lives and how little faith we’ve placed in our own ability to do the same. People will spend months arguing about who should lead the country while spending zero time considering how they could better lead themselves … and THAT is a much bigger problem than most people realize," Frisella’s post read.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

"Because the strength of a country is ultimately a reflection of the character, discipline and standards of the people who make it up. That’s you. Politics is downstream of culture. We can keep changing the people in charge, passing new laws and arguing over which party has the answers … but until we change the culture fostering, producing and tolerating the problems we have as a society, nothing fundamentally changes.

"A population of weak, unhealthy, uninformed and dependent people is a hell of a lot easier to control than a population of strong, healthy, educated and self-reliant people. Your responsibility is to become the exact opposite of everything they want for you to the best of your abilities. Your REAL best. In my opinion that’s our obligation as Americans.

SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM RESHARES POST-ELECTION DAY MESSAGE: 'PERSONAL EXCELLENCE IS THE ULTIMATE REBELLION'

"A culture of personal excellence is the foundation of a great country. There is no election, politician, policy or law that can substitute for that … and the best thing about that is the same behaviors that make you a better American also make your own life better quickly. If we want a better America … It starts with better Americans. There is no other way. Personal excellence is the Ultimate Rebellion."

Cunningham seemingly faced people commenting back on her post, as she then added a different share to her Story. It was a blunt quote from boxing great Mike Tyson.

"Social media made y’all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it," the post read.

Now, Cunningham isn’t afraid to showcase her opinions on and off the court. She became a lightning rod this past WNBA season after saying she supported the separation of biological men playing in women’s sports.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

But what Cunningham was trying to show in this case was belief in a collective humanity rather than focusing on political disagreements post-midterm elections, unlike some of her WNBA peers.

OUTKICK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE FOX NEWS APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

Cunningham has also noted in the past that she likes to remain in the "middle" when it comes to her politics, listening to both sides and making informed decisions from there.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER

Vance, Cruz and DeSantis diagnose GOP's midterm disaster as battle over party's future begins

All three offered competing postmortems on GOP midterm losses, with Vance putting daylight between himself and Trump

The 2028 Republican White House race may be getting its first battle lines, as Vice President JD Vance, Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis quickly offered competing assessments of the GOP's devastating midterm election losses, potentially previewing their visions for the party's future.

The three high-profile Republicans, all viewed as potential contenders for the party's presidential nomination, used their postmortems to weigh what went wrong and what Republicans must do differently — a debate that could help define the GOP's direction heading into 2028.

"I think everybody's trying to figure out where to position themselves in the aftermath. Where were you on the day after," longtime Republican strategist and presidential campaign veteran David Kochel told Fox News Digital. "I think these are all moves designed to look towards 2028."

Oil drilling CEO and prominent Republican donor and bundler Dan Eberhart told Fox News Digital that "the early moves have started" in the 2028 Republican presidential nomination race. "These guys are going to go a couple of rounds before Christmas."

HEAD HERE FOR FOX NEWS LIVE UPDATES ON THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Vance kicked off the debate Wednesday morning with a roughly 600-word postmortem on X, blaming President Donald Trump's war with Iran for Republicans' worst ballot-box drubbing in decades as they lost control of Congress, along with a slew of governorships and state legislatures.

Fueled by anger over high costs and the war with Iran, voters delivered a repudiation of Trump and his agenda, boosting Democrats to large majorities in the House and Senate.

"The reason we lost is the war," Vance wrote as he appeared to put daylight between himself and his boss on foreign policy and America's relationship with Israel. "Any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there."

Vance, in what some pundits viewed as an early pitch to eventually claim the MAGA and America First mantle, argued that defections from the party's successful 2024 coalition of voters, rather than a lack of GOP turnout, fueled the Republican collapse in the midterms.

CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MIDTERM ELECTION RESULTS AS THE VOTES CONTINUE TO BE COUNTED

Kochel called Vance's assessment "the most striking because it appears to say 'hey, we made a mistake with the war in Iran,' and that's about as far as I've seen a vice president go, not as a criticism of Trump but as a criticism in the policy."

Asked about Vance's post, Trump told reporters, "I know how he feels about it. I think it was fine. I thought it was good."

The president acknowledged that the war and the high gas and diesel prices it spurred hurt his party at the ballot box but insisted it was worth the cost.

"If I had to do it again, I'd have to do it again," he said. "As far as that war is concerned, I would have done nothing different."

Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son and a prominent figure in the MAGA movement, quickly gave Vance's postmortem a thumbs-up, writing on X, "Every word of this is 💯 💯 💯."

Hours after Vance posted his assessment, Cruz posted his own scathing take on the midterms.

POLLSTERS MISSED THE MARK, BUT THIS TIME IT WASN'T REPUBLICANS THEY UNDERCOUNTED

The conservative firebrand senator from Texas, who was runner-up to Trump in the bruising 2016 Republican presidential primaries and has made no secret that he may run for the White House again, described the midterms as a "blue tsunami" and warned that his party had lost touch with voters, particularly in the Lone Star State.

"2026 was not simply a blue wave; it was a blue tsunami. It was an a-- kicking," Cruz wrote. "It was not simply a bad 2006 midterm election. It was a Watergate-level repudiation."

"Nowhere are the consequences of this election greater than Texas," Cruz wrote. "In the Lone Star State, we lost every single statewide election...Texas is blue. That is a hard sentence to utter."

FLORIDA'S DESANTIS DESCRIBES GOP MIDTERMS WIPEOUT AS 'CLOSE TO AN EXTINCTION-LEVEL EVENT' FOR REPUBLICANS

Cruz blamed the losses on the high cost of living and pointed to Trump's tariffs and the war in Iran.

"Food is too high, gas is too high, diesel is too high, insurance is too high, life is too high," he wrote. "Understandably, people were pissed off, and elected Republicans didn't do enough to address their very real pain."

DeSantis, the term-limited conservative governor who ran for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination before being decisively defeated by Trump, held a news conference Wednesday morning where he called the midterm election results "close to an extinction-level event for Republicans across the country."

"Let’s just be clear, that is going to hurt — not just for the next two years... That is something that can reverberate for the next decade or more," he said. "We knew it could be worse. I don't think most of us thought it would be this bad."

But DeSantis repeatedly highlighted that "the one state that was able to hold the line and withstand that is right here in the free state of Florida."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

While most pundits view Cruz as a likely 2028 contender, the jury's been out regarding DeSantis.

But Eberhart, who's Florida-based, argued that "the first bullet in the 2028 contest was Ron DeSantis throwing cold water on Trump's $5,000 dividend," referring to the president's early September pledge at the GOP midterm convention to make a cash payment to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans retained the House and Senate.

SIGN UP TO GET THE POLITICS NEWSLETTER

Looking at the postmortems, Kochel said, "I think that we're going to be digging through the rubble for a while...The party going to have through this post apocalyptic period here and figure out what's the message going forward."

He cautioned, "It's going to be really hard to hold the coalition together. I think Trump was uniquely able to do it with the power of his celebrity but I think there's going to be a lot of machinations here going forward."

TED JENKIN: Democrats took Congress. Don’t let your emotions make bad money moves

History shows post-midterm election years tend to produce strong stock market returns despite political gridlock

Democrats have taken control of the House and Senate. President Donald Trump remains in the White House.

Republicans are furious. Democrats are celebrating. And millions of Americans are staring at their retirement accounts wondering one thing: What the heck does this mean for my 401(k)?

Should you sell stocks? Buy gold? Move everything into cash? Before you make a move, you might want to look at what history actually tells us. Because this particular combination of political power has produced some surprising stock market results.

STATE OF PLAY: BLUE WAVE SWEEPS DEMOCRATS INTO POWER, WITH KEY RACES STILL HANGING IN BALANCE

The worst political combination for stocks?

According to research from RBC Wealth Management and Bloomberg, the S&P 500 has historically averaged just 4.9% annually when a Republican president faces a Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

That's the lowest average among six political configurations studied from 1953 through 2025.

Compare that with the other combinations:

Republican president, Republican Congress: 13.3%

Republican president, split Congress: 7.3%

Republican president, Democratic Congress: 4.9%

Democratic president, Democratic Congress: 8.0%

Democratic president, split Congress: 17.0%

Democratic president, Republican Congress: 16.3%

TRUMP PLEDGES TO VETO 'INSANE' DEM BILLS, PINPOINTS ISSUE PARTIALLY TO BLAME FOR REPUBLICAN LOSSES

Those are historical annual price returns, excluding dividends, not predictions for 2027. But here's what should catch your attention. Not all political gridlock has produced the same stock market results.

And anyone telling you Wall Street always loves divided government isn't looking at the complete numbers.

But here's the midterm surprise

Before you start selling everything in your retirement account, there's another statistic you need to know. According to Capital Group, the S&P 500 has averaged a 15.4% gain in the 12 months following midterm elections since 1950.

Even more remarkable? Every post-midterm 12-month period in that study produced a positive return. That's a pretty impressive historical batting average.

Why?

DEMOCRATS' HISTORIC WINS IN TEXAS HIGHLIGHT TAKING CONTROL OF CONGRESS IN MIDTERM BLUE WAVE

One explanation is that markets dislike uncertainty. Before elections, investors worry about taxes, regulations, spending and which party will control Washington. Once the election is over, some of that uncertainty disappears.

Wall Street may not like the election results, but it often likes knowing the results.

Gridlock isn't always good for your money

When Democrats control Congress and Trump controls the White House, passing major legislation generally becomes more difficult. Tax changes require negotiation. Spending bills can become political battlegrounds. Government shutdowns and debt-ceiling fights can create uncertainty.

Some investors welcome the reduced likelihood of sweeping policy changes. Others worry that Washington won't be able to address serious fiscal challenges.

But remember something important: The stock market doesn't rise or fall simply because politicians agree or disagree.

Corporate profits, inflation, interest rates and economic growth still drive long-term investment performance. And historical political averages don't prove that congressional control caused those returns.

Four things I'd watch in 2027

First, corporate earnings. Companies making more money can support higher stock prices regardless of who's running Congress.

Second, interest rates. Federal Reserve decisions and inflation could have a much bigger impact on your portfolio than congressional gridlock. Will we see another two or three rate hikes if inflation stays stubborn?

WHAT THE 2026 MIDTERM RESULTS MEAN FOR CAPITOL HILL

Third, taxes. Major changes to corporate, capital gains or individual income taxes would face significant political hurdles.

Fourth, government spending and debt. Budget battles could affect Treasury yields, borrowing costs and investor confidence. We are still more than $40 trillion in debt.

These are the issues that can actually affect your financial future.

Don't let your politics destroy your portfolio

I've spent decades watching investors make one of the biggest mistakes in personal finance. They confuse political disappointment with investment strategy. They sell stocks because they dislike the president. They move into cash because they dislike Congress. Then they wait for an election result that makes them comfortable.

Meanwhile, the stock market keeps moving.

Here's the reality: A 4.9% historical average doesn't mean your portfolio will earn 4.9% in 2027. And a 15.4% post-midterm average doesn't guarantee a rally.

History gives us perspective, not a crystal ball.

If you're retiring next year, make sure your portfolio can handle volatility. If retirement is 20 years away, don't let one election derail a long-term investment strategy. Because here's the most important financial lesson from this election.

Your 401(k) doesn't have a political affiliation. It doesn’t vote red or blue, it’s always voting green.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

And the fastest way to turn a political disappointment into a financial disaster is to let your emotions make your investment decisions. It’s the No. 1 reason investors don’t do well with their own money.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Vote with your convictions.
STEVEN D ANDERSON: Time for Supreme Court to fix ‘race neutral’ discrimination

Asian American parents challenge policy designed to reduce their children's enrollment in gifted programs

The Supreme Court has made clear that racial discrimination has no place in public school admissions. But when schools hide discrimination behind race-neutral policies, lower courts have let them get away with it — as long as the targeted racial group isn’t hurt too much.

On Oct. 19, the court agreed to hear a case brought by parents in Montgomery County, Md., challenging an admissions policy designed to reduce Asian American enrollment at the county’s magnet middle schools. At stake is a fundamental question: Does the Constitution protect students as individuals, or do their rights depend on how others of their race perform?

With this case, the Supreme Court could reverse a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals precedent that Justice Alito once called "flagrantly wrong" and "a virus that may spread if not promptly eliminated."

STAR STUDENT REJECTED BY 16 COLLEGES, HIRED BY GOOGLE, GETS LEGAL WIN IN RACIAL DISCRIMINATION SUIT

This isn’t a small procedural question. It’s fundamental. Does the Constitution protect us as individuals? Or do our rights depend on the outcomes of racial groups?

Montgomery County is a suburb of Washington, D.C., straddling the Capital Beltway and home to at least 10 federal agencies. Its school system is one of the largest in the country and includes four magnet middle schools for gifted students.

In 2015, Montgomery County’s school system hired consultants to examine the racial makeup of its gifted programs, including its magnet schools. At the time, Asian American students made up nearly half the enrollment at these four schools, which admitted students based on grades, a cognitive abilities test and teacher recommendations.

The consultants reported "significant racial and socioeconomic disparities" at the schools. Black and Hispanic students were underrepresented compared to their countywide enrollment numbers. Montgomery County should "revise the criteria and process used to select students," the consultants urged. How? By introducing "non-cognitive criteria" and "group-specific norms" into the selection process.

CALIFORNIA SOCIOLOGY PROFESSOR CITED 'IRONY' IN REMOVING ACT/SAT, NOT FIXING RACIAL DISPARITIES AS INTENDED

The Board of Education listened. One board member described his vision for the magnet program "not simply as a matter of creating opportunity and having that be blind and neutral, but in fact, ensuring there were controls so that in fact those choices could reflect the community that we live in." Privilege, he warned, "is not going to go away."

Now there is a lottery for Montgomery County magnet schools — but it’s not an open lottery. It has controls meant to produce a specific outcome. To be eligible, students must score in the 85th percentile on a Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, with percentiles "locally normed" so students are measured against a cluster of peers.

DISCRIMINATORY 'SHADOW' REVIEW PROCESS LOCKS WHITE, ASIAN STUDENTS OUT OF CALIFORNIA MED SCHOOL, DOJ ALLEGES

The result: Students in certain school clusters — those with high Asian American enrollment — need to score in the 93rd districtwide percentile to be eligible for the magnet lottery. At other schools, a child only needs to score in the 60th district-wide percentile.

This new process certainly looks like a calculated act of discrimination to balance magnet schools racially. And it’s effective: Asian American enrollment has sharply dropped since 2016. At one participating school, Asian American participation dropped from 58.2% to 30.3%. My firm, Pacific Legal Foundation, promptly sued on behalf of the parents.

OBAMA-APPOINTED JUDGE CLEARS WAY FOR WHITE EMPLOYEE TO CHALLENGE SEATTLE'S DEI POLICIES

But according to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, Asian American participation still hasn’t dropped enough to warrant judicial review.

The court refused to allow the parents’ case to go to trial, dismissing their argument because the share of Asian American enrollment hadn’t yet dropped below the share of applications.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ACCUSES PRESTIGIOUS LAW SCHOOL OF FAVORING BLACK APPLICANTS OVER WHITE, ASIAN PEERS

In other words, Montgomery County’s new admissions policy may disadvantage Asian American students because of their race. But because Asian American applicants are still achieving at a high level as a group, the government’s discrimination doesn’t count.

This isn’t how the law works. Equality is not a numbers game. (Those are for consultants’ reports.) It is the opposite: an individual birthright. The Constitution protects human beings, not statistical groups. No child’s rights should be contingent on how well other children of the same race perform.

In 2024, Pacific Legal Foundation tried to bring a similar case to the Supreme Court, this one about admissions at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia. The Fourth Circuit rejected parents’ right to argue discrimination.

The Supreme Court declined to take the case. But Justice Alito warned, in a dissent from denial joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, that the court would soon need to address the Fourth Circuit’s "dangerous" reasoning.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

"What the Fourth Circuit majority held, in essence, is that intentional racial discrimination is constitutional so long as it is not too severe," Justice Alito wrote. "This reasoning is indefensible, and it cries out for correction."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

That’s what the Supreme Court can do in AFEF v.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — At the opening of the world's largest energy conference in Abu Dhabi, artificial intelligence took center stage alongside oil and gas as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman joined senior UAE officials for the announcement of a major partnership aimed at bringing advanced AI into the energy industry.

The opening ceremony of ADIPEC 2026, attended by Fox News Digital, brought together senior government officials and energy industry leaders at a time when the war involving Iran and disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz have placed extraordinary pressure on global energy supplies.

But amid discussions about oil production, shipping routes and energy security, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE’s minister of industry and advanced technology and chief executive of state-owned energy giant ADNOC, delivered a different challenge to the technology industry.

OIL SQUEEZE TIGHTENS AS IRAN-BACKED ATTACKS CRIPPLE HORMUZ ESCAPE ROUTES

"From the moment ChatGPT was born, the world has asked what energy can do for AI. And now, together, we will find out what AI can do for energy," Al Jaber told the audience, introducing a partnership between ADNOC, OpenAI and Abu Dhabi-based technology company G42.

The announcement marked a significant step in the UAE’s ambition to become a global center for artificial intelligence, using its energy resources, financial strength and growing partnerships with American technology companies to help shape the industry’s future.

Yet the question of what AI can actually deliver for the energy industry goes beyond the technology announcements.

THE AI REVOLUTION WILL GO WHEREVER THERE'S ELECTRICITY — AND CHINA KNOWS IT

Speaking exclusively to Fox News Digital on the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Angela Wilkinson, secretary general and CEO of the World Energy Council, said the most encouraging element of the presentations by Altman and Al Jaber was their focus on the role of people.

"That it isn’t about AI taking decisions for humanity, it’s about AI enabling people to make better decisions," Wilkinson said.

Wilkinson argued that the growing relationship between energy and AI should be understood not simply as a way to automate industrial processes, but as an opportunity to expand human capabilities.

"I think what really cheered me up most is the recognition that it’s a people-centric conversation on both sides of the equation," she said.

ONE OF AMERICA'S OLDEST MANUFACTURERS SAYS AI IS CREATING JOBS — NOT REPLACING THEM

Amos Hochstein, a managing partner at TWG Global and a former senior adviser to President Joe Biden, welcomed the potential benefits of the new OpenAI-UAE partnership but warned that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence must be balanced against its financial and societal costs.

Speaking to Fox News Digital at ADIPEC, Hochstein said, "The energy sector is going to be one of the big beneficiaries of AI coming into the sector." But he cautioned that the U.S. must remain a leader in advanced AI while ensuring Americans are not left paying the price for its expansion, calling on the Trump administration to work more closely with industry and other sectors of society to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks.

The ADNOC partnership is intended to connect advanced AI systems across the company’s operations, from oilfield development and reservoir management to refining, logistics and commercial trading.

According to ADNOC, one of the initial applications will bring together decades of information from thousands of oil wells, multiple reservoirs and hundreds of facilities, with the goal of completing complex development plans in hours rather than months.

The company says the technology could improve operational efficiency, lower costs and help energy producers respond more quickly to changing market conditions. Those projected improvements have not yet been independently demonstrated.

For the UAE, the initiative represents something larger than a single agreement.

AI ISN’T JUST A PROBLEM, IT’S A SOLUTION. SOME PEOPLE ARE ALREADY MAKING THE MOST OF IT

The country is already a partner in the planned Stargate UAE project, a major computing infrastructure initiative involving American technology companies. The project is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader effort to establish itself as an international AI hub.

In a separate interview with Fox News Digital in Dubai, Mohammed Baharoon, director general of the research center B’huth, described the country’s technological ambitions as an evolution from exporting barrels of oil to exporting digital computing capacity.

Baharoon said the rise of AI could produce an economic transformation comparable to previous industrial revolutions, creating new industries and opportunities even as existing professions are disrupted.

But he cautioned that governments are struggling to keep pace with the technology’s development.

"We will need to bring in the concepts of regulation at the point of development, not after the development has happened," Baharoon told Fox News Digital.

He argued that governments and technology companies need to begin addressing potential dangers while systems are being created, rather than waiting until they have already entered widespread use.

THE BIGGEST THREAT IN AMERICA'S RACE WITH CHINA ISN'T BEIJING, TECH EXECUTIVE WARNS

The question of human control was also central to Altman’s remarks at ADIPEC.

During a panel, Altman argued that AI should remain a tool serving people rather than replacing human decision-making.

The OpenAI chief also acknowledged a fundamental challenge facing his own industry: the enormous amount of energy required to power increasingly capable AI systems.

Asked to identify his biggest challenge, Altman answered with a single word: "Energy."

The exchange illustrated the complicated relationship between two industries that are becoming increasingly dependent on each other.

AI companies need vast quantities of electricity to operate data centers, while energy producers are increasingly looking to AI to improve efficiency, optimize production and identify vulnerabilities before they disrupt supplies.

AI BOOM: DEMAND FOR DATA CENTERS DRIVES INNOVATION BY ENERGY, TECH INDUSTRIES TO PRODUCE NEW POWER SOURCES

The stakes are particularly high in the Gulf, where the war involving Iran and disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have forced energy producers to reconsider how they protect infrastructure and ensure supplies reach international markets.

In his opening address, Al Jaber warned that nearly a billion barrels had been drawn from global oil inventories since the disruption of Hormuz, illustrating how quickly geopolitical instability can affect global energy supplies.

The ADNOC chief presented artificial intelligence as one element of a broader effort to strengthen operational resilience, arguing that companies must develop systems capable of anticipating problems rather than simply responding after disruptions occur.

ONE OF THE WORLD'S HOTTEST INDUSTRIES IS SPARKING A BLUE-COLLAR JOBS BOOM

Altman, meanwhile, praised the UAE’s commitment to adopting AI across government and industry, describing it as the world’s most forward-looking country in embracing the technology.

For Abu Dhabi, the emerging partnership between its traditional energy industry and the world’s leading AI companies offers an opportunity to extend its economic influence beyond oil exports.

But whether these investments ultimately deliver the promised improvements in productivity, energy security and technological innovation remains to be seen.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

As the discussions at ADIPEC demonstrated, the question is no longer simply how much energy the AI revolution will require, but whether artificial intelligence can help solve some of the very energy challenges its growth is creating.

Somali daycare owner tied to fraud wins Minnesota House race sparking online fury: 'Lost state'

The daycare CEO becomes the first Somali-born state lawmaker from St Cloud amid questions about state funds

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The owner of a Somali daycare center that has faced scrutiny over state and federal funding and is linked to a massive fraud settlement won a seat in the Minnesota legislature Tuesday night.

Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) candidate Abdi Daisane defeated a Republican incumbent to win Minnesota’s House District 14A seat in St. Cloud, Minnesota, becoming the first Somali-born lawmaker in the statehouse from St. Cloud, MPR News reported.

Daisane, who delivered part of his victory speech in Somali, is the CEO of Blooming Kids Child Care Center in St. Cloud, which has received $7.29 million from the state-run Child Care Assistance Program since 2018.

His childcare business also received $598,251.62 from the federally-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) since 2020. A nonprofit called Partners in Nutrition, which recently had to pay an $18.5 million civil settlement for fraud, was the center's sponsor for CACFP funds.

A press release from the settlement says Partners in Nutrition "knowingly defrauded the State of Minnesota out of millions of dollars in federal child nutrition funds during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, in violation of the Minnesota False Claims Act."

MINNESOTA OFFICIAL'S VOTER GUIDE MESSAGE ON SOMALI TV TRIGGERS VIRAL BACKLASH: 'NOT AN ACCIDENT'

Fox News Digital visited Blooming Kids Child Care Center on Thursday and found a quiet scene. The childcare center is situated along a main road in St. Cloud's small downtown. A paper sign on a wooden front door that faces the street directs visitors to a different entrance. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows next to the door are covered with a tinted and mirrored film.

The building is flanked by a parking lot that was mostly empty on Thursday afternoon.

Behind the building is a tiny fenced-in playground, anchored by two children's jungle gyms that appear to fill most of the area.

Alpha News reported on the funding in late October, and spoke with a nearby worker who said they never saw children entering or exiting the childcare facility. The outlet also reported that Blooming Kids Child Care Center has been cited for over a dozen violations.

Additionally, questions about the immigration status of Daisane's wife, Ayaan Aydid, have circulated online after a video surfaced of her detailing to the BBC how she crossed into the United States at the southern border.

CULTURE CLASH LAID BARE AS VIOLENT SOMALI GANGS GRIP SUBURBAN COMMUNITIES: ‘THESE KIDS ARE DIFFERENT’

Daisane did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

News of Daisane’s victory quickly sparked pushback on social media.

"We are a lost state," Red Ax Strategies President Matt Brodsky posted on X.
JIMMY FAILLA: Happy holidays come from sad midterms, so pass the pie, not the insults

Lean into Thanksgiving extra hard this year and enjoy a rare and badly needed ceasefire from all the political pugilism

The bad news for Republicans is that the midterms were a blue tsunami and, perhaps even more shockingly, Democrats aren't blaming the massive wave on climate change.

The good news is that there's no need to fight with your relatives about politics this Thanksgiving because all the yelling in the world isn't going to make this a close race.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as annoyed with your blue-haired aunt who drove here with a COVID mask on in her Subaru just to interrupt the football game and tell you the Dallas Cowboys are playing on stolen land. But give Hazel and all six of her cats the win because Tuesday night was THEIR Super Bowl, and Republicans didn't even bother to field a team.

TRUMP'S GAMBLE ON KEN PAXTON BACKFIRES AS DEMOCRAT PULLS OFF HISTORIC TEXAS SENATE UPSET

Think about it. Texas went blue statewide for the first time since 1992 and, let's face it, Texas going blue is like Vegas going SOBER. Greg Abbott getting evicted from the governor's mansion by Gina Hinojosa was obviously a huge upset, but the fact that Democrats also won a Senate seat with the gender-obsessed James Talarico means it’s only a matter of time before "Remember the Alamo" becomes "Remember the Pronouns."

Perhaps I shouldn’t be shocked that such a God-fearing state would elect a pastor who once said Jesus was non-binary, but in my defense, I go to church every Sunday and I’ve never heard "a reading from RuPaul to the Corinthians."

BLUE WAVE NEARLY SWALLOWED SOME OF AMERICA'S REDDEST STATES AS ELECTION DATA EXPOSES GOP'S CLOSE CALLS

Kansas elected a Democratic senator for the first time in 94 years. Yes, I'm serious. Prior to Adam Hilton’s big win on Tuesday night, the last Democrat to win a Senate seat in the Sunflower State was George McGill in 1932, which is seven years before "The Wizard of Oz" came out in 1939. Luckily, he was out of office by the time Dorothy followed the Yellow Brick Road, or the Democrats would've charged her a congestion fee.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Don’t get me wrong, there were some upsides, like Florida electing Byron Donalds as its first Black governor in the state's history. Or, as the race-obsessed liberal media will say, NOTHING. (Funny how that works when there's a Republican involved.) I was also thrilled to see Ashley Moody hold off the Socialist-curious Angie Nixon for a Senate seat in the Sunshine State, but aside from that, the only other thing that went Red was our bottoms from getting spanked.

So my best advice is to lean into Thanksgiving extra hard this year and enjoy a rare and badly needed cease-fire from all the political pugilism.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Drink like you're rooming with Kamala. Eat like the Ozempic shows up Friday morning, but most importantly, RELAX.
Trump admin sues Penn State over in-state tuition policy for undocumented migrants

The lawsuit is the 27th filed by the Justice Department challenging reduced tuition rates for illegal migrants nationwide

The Trump administration is suing Pennsylvania State University over a policy that allegedly allows undocumented migrant students to qualify for in-state tuition.

In a lawsuit filed on Thursday, the Justice Department argued that in-state tuition for undocumented migrants discriminates against U.S. citizens because U.S. citizens living outside Pennsylvania are not eligible for the same reduced tuition rate.

"Congress made a deliberate policy choice that states and their public institutions may not grant tuition benefits to illegal aliens unless those same benefits are made to all U.S. citizens," Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate of the DOJ's Civil Division said in a statement.

"This university has ignored that mandate. The Department will continue to challenge policies that unlawfully disadvantage American citizens," he continued.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SUES COLORADO OVER IN-STATE TUITION AND FINANCIAL AID FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

The DOJ accused the university of violating federal law by "prioritizing the needs of illegal aliens over U.S. citizens in defiance of Congress’s commands."

Penn State's policy "unconstitutionally" discriminates against U.S. citizens who are not afforded the same reduced tuition rate as undocumented students, the department said.

The department seeks to enjoin the university from enforcing its policy that provides undocumented students, including illegal migrants who live in Pennsylvania, with in-state tuition rates, regardless of whether the students are lawfully in the U.S.

DOJ SUES NEW JERSEY OVER LAWS GIVING ILLEGAL ALIENS IN-STATE TUITION, SAYS CITIZENS TREATED AS 'SECOND-CLASS'

The complaint also aims to enjoin the institution from adopting any new tuition policies that favor undocumented students over U.S. citizens.

According to Penn State's website, undocumented students with or without Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status may be eligible for in-state tuition if they meet certain residency requirements.

"These requirements include attending an accredited Pennsylvania high school for at least four years and graduating from an accredited Pennsylvania high school or receiving a Pennsylvania General Educational Development (GED) certificate," the school's website reads.

FOX News Digital has reached out to the university for comment on the DOJ's lawsuit.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Thursday's lawsuit brings the DOJ's total to 27 lawsuits challenging in-state tuition for illegal migrants, including six lawsuits in Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Illinois and Kansas that have resulted in favorable orders for the federal government.

"The Department of Justice today continues its efforts to ensure that no state law or university policy gives preferential treatment to illegal aliens over our Nation’s own citizens," Associate Attorney General Stanley E. Woodward, Jr. said in a statement. "Congress long ago made clear that states, through their public universities, cannot give reduced tuition to illegal aliens not available to all Americans."

Wisconsin infant dies of measles as state sees first death from disease since 1990

The death comes as Wisconsin reports 431 measles cases across 13 counties, the highest number in more than 35 years

An infant in Wisconsin died of measles, marking the state’s first death linked to the disease in 36 years, the state's Department of Health Services announced on Thursday.

The Department of Health Services said the child died in southwestern Wisconsin but did not provide a more precise location. The department said it would not release any additional details to protect the privacy of the family.

The coroner listed the immediate cause of death as measles.

"It is with a heavy heart we are reporting the first death of an infant connected with a measles outbreak in Wisconsin in many years. My heart is broken for the family," state Department of Health Services Secretary Kirsten Johnson said in a statement.

CHILD'S MEASLES DEATH MARKS NEW YORK STATE'S FIRST IN MORE THAN 30 YEARS AMID OUTBREAK

"Any death of a child is a tragedy and even more so when it is related to a vaccine-preventable disease. Measles can cause serious illness and death, and it is important for all Wisconsinites to evaluate their risk and take steps to protect themselves and their family," she continued.

Measles can cause life-threatening complications, including pneumonia and swelling of the brain. The department said that while anyone can become seriously ill, children younger than 5, pregnant people and people with weakened immune systems are at increased risk of complications.

Wisconsin has reported 431 measles cases in 13 counties so far this year, reflecting the highest number of cases seen in the state in more than 35 years. Among these cases, nine people required hospitalization for severe symptoms.

State officials urged Wisconsinites to be proactive in preventing illness to protect themselves and their communities, saying the best way to prevent measles is with the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services previously told FOX News Digital that "Secretary Kennedy and CDC Director Dr. Erica Schwartz continue to make clear that the MMR vaccine is the most effective way to prevent measles."

Earlier this week, a child in New York state's Lewis County died in the first known measles-associated death in the state in more than 30 years.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she was "heartbroken" to learn of the child's death.

"As a mother and grandmother, I cannot imagine what this family is going through. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved this child," Hochul said in a statement.

NEW YORK DECLARES MEASLES DISASTER EMERGENCY AS CASES SURGE IN PENNSYLVANIA

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported four measles-associated deaths across the country this year, although state health departments have reported higher figures.

In Pennsylvania, state health officials have confirmed six measles-associated deaths in 2026 and are investigating another reported death that has not yet met the state's criteria to be classified as measles-associated.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Federal judge temporarily blocks construction of Trump's Arlington triumphal arch hours after approval

The federal panel approved the 250-foot arch in an 8-4 vote before a judge temporarily halted construction

A federal judge early Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from breaking ground on President Donald Trump's proposed triumphal arch in Washington, D.C., just hours after a federal planning commission approved the project.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan issued a 14-day temporary restraining order halting construction of the proposed monument.

Chutkan granted a request from plaintiffs challenging the project in lawsuits filed by the District of Columbia and Virginia. The cases were consolidated with an earlier lawsuit brought by a group of Vietnam veterans and an architectural historian.

The National Capital Planning Commission approved the project hours earlier on Thursday with an 8-4 vote, clearing the way for construction before the court intervened.

SEN JIM BANKS: TRUMP’S NEW TRIUMPHAL ARCH IS A MONUMENT TO AMERICAN GREATNESS

The federal panel approved construction of the 250-foot-tall structure, which is inspired by Paris' Arc de Triomphe and intended to attract visitors crossing the Memorial Bridge from Arlington National Cemetery into the nation's capital.

Mark Paoletta, the commission's Trump-appointed chairman, expressed support for the new structure during the panel's meeting.

"President Trump understands as president and a superb builder that it's important to our national identity to display who we are through grand monuments," Paoletta said.

Paoletta, who also serves as general counsel for the White House Office of Management and Budget, pointed to Trump's admiration for similar monuments around the world.

"As Trump has often remarked, the great cities around the world have arches: Paris, Rome, London," Paoletta said.

TRUMP SAYS NEW ARCH WILL ALSO DEPLOY DRONES, POSITION SNIPERS AND STORE AMMO

The proposed structure would be clad in granite and topped with three golden statues.

Trump has previously said the triumphal arch would be converted into a military complex capable of rapidly deploying large numbers of drones, with snipers positioned on the roof and plaza areas. He also said the complex would store "large quantities of sniper ammunition."

The project has drawn criticism from preservationists, lawmakers and veterans, who argue that it could disrupt views of the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Opponents have also questioned whether the project requires congressional approval under federal law.

The National Capital Planning Commission previously approved the site and preliminary plans.

Fox News Digital's Amanda Macias and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Ravens' playoff hopes hinge on Jacoby Brissett after third-stringer Joe Fagnano gets demolished by Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville looked poised off the bye while Baltimore's third-string QB threw two picks in the rain

It’s very rare we see moments in the NFL that feel like high school football, but Thursday night gave us that feeling in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 33-10 trounce of the Baltimore Ravens to kick off Week 9.

The Jaguars were heavily favored going into the game, as third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano, who took over as the team’s emergency signal caller last week following the injuries to both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, got his first career start.

Yes, the Ravens traded for Jacoby Brissett when the Arizona Cardinals demoted him to third string earlier this week, but he wasn’t ready on a short week to take over Declan Doyle’s offense and compete.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

But, boy, does Brissett need to get right quickly if the Ravens have any hope of reaching the playoffs.

That’s the biggest takeaway from this game, because the Jaguars didn’t really need to do all too much after scoring on their opening drive of the game. It was clear Doyle was going to be creative, or as much as he possibly could, with Fagnano very green under center.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

However, Fagnano, despite being a fun story to begin a new week in the NFL, isn’t what the Ravens need after a devastating injury to the two-time MVP in Jackson and Huntley going down.

Brissett is the only saving grace for a Ravens season that almost seems at the brink of disaster even though they only fell to 4-4 on the year.

Fagnano was 10-of-18 passing for only 80 yards, as some heavy rain in Baltimore didn’t help the fact that Jacksonville was all over what the Ravens were trying to do in the first place. The ball was wet, leading to a few fumbles, while Fagnano couldn’t handle the pressure the Jaguars threw at him on his clear pass downs, leading to two interceptions.

The body language on the Baltimore sideline was clear – it wasn’t going to be their night.

Meanwhile, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars looked clean and poised coming off the bye week. Bhayshul Tuten, who was questionable entering the game due to injury, suited up and scored the first touchdown of the game. Then, Lawrence found Parker Washington before the end of the first half on a 50-yard catch-and-run touchdown that almost felt like a kill shot after what we witnessed with the Ravens’ offense in half.

At 17-3 to start the second half, Fagnano threw his first interception, followed by two punts, a turnover-on-downs, his second interception, and a fumble on the kickoff.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. smashed it in for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that made it 33-3, and if it weren’t for Justice Hill’s 65-yard run on the ensuing drive, Baltimore likely wouldn’t have sniffed the end zone in a game they’ll look to forget and move on to next week.

OUTKICK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE FOX NEWS APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

With a meeting against the lowly Los Angeles Chargers on "Monday Night Football" upcoming, Brissett has more than enough time to get acclimated.

Because for Ravens fans, that’s really the only thing to look forward to as they hope and pray his passing prowess can get them back to being a playoff team after losing their last four.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER

New York Knicks champion calls out Taylor Swift as the 'fakest fan' from MSG's celebrity row

Kolek and teammate Deuce McBride singled out Swift while praising regulars like Ben Stiller and Tracy Morgan

If there is one cardinal sin in modern America, it is daring to question Taylor Swift. Trash a politician, start a bar fight, or get ejected on live TV, and you will survive the week. But suggest music's biggest billionaire is a bandwagon fan? Good luck.

Enter Knicks guard Tyler Kolek. During an NBA 2K stream on TikTok with teammate Deuce McBride, the two were asked to name the fakest celebrity fan they ran into during New York's historic title run.

Most athletes would sweat the answer and name a random influencer. But Kolek aimed right at the throne.

ESPN'S MONICA MCNUTT APOLOGIZES TO TAYLOR SWIFT, BUT HER COMMENTARY FOLLOWS AN UGLY TREND

"Maybe Taylor Swift?" Kolek said. "I don't know if I've seen her at any other games."

"I would agree. Swifties not gonna like that answer," Deuce McBride responded.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

Kolek continued, "Everyone else is usually solid. Like Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan; I guess she's got a lot going on, so she can't come all the time."

And with that, the friendship bracelet mob is already mobilizing. But Kolek hit the bullseye.

NFL LEGEND EMMITT SMITH DEFENDS TAYLOR SWIFT AS HER PRESENCE AT GAMES DRAWS IRE OF FOOTBALL FANS

Taylor showing up to the baseline with the HAIM sisters in punny "Stevie Knicks" shirts was textbook performative branding. It had nothing to do with New York basketball; it was all about hijacking the spotlight. NFL fans have spent seasons getting hit with broadcast cutaways every three plays, so Taylor Swift could chest-bump Brittany Mahomes in a luxury suite and pretend she had been braving freezing wind chills at Arrowhead Stadium her whole life.

Swifties are already melting down in Kolek's mentions, but the kid called it like he saw it. If you skipped five decades of pure misery, don't show up for the ring.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Send us your thoughts: alejandro.avila@outkick.com / Follow along on X: @alejandroaveela
