Andrew, Tristan Tate arrested in Miami as UK seeks extradition on expanded rape, trafficking charges

Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were arrested Saturday in Miami after U.S. Marshals took the controversial social media influencers into custody on a sealed warrant as British prosecutors announced dozens of new criminal charges and sought their extradition.

"Today, U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Florida arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate pursuant to extradition proceedings," a Justice Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "These arrests were made in accordance with the treaties and law enforcement agreements governing Justice Department extraditions."

Bedfordshire Police also confirmed the brothers were arrested Saturday in Miami in connection with a U.K. police investigation into alleged sexual offenses dating back to 2012.

Photos and video published by TMZ appeared to show federal agents handcuffing the brothers outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate had been scheduled to appear at a bare-knuckle boxing event.

The arrests came hours after Britain's Crown Prosecution Service announced it had approved a major expansion of the criminal case against the brothers. Bedfordshire Police said the new charges bring the total against the brothers to 59, with Andrew Tate facing 42 charges and Tristan Tate facing 17.

According to the CPS, Andrew Tate now faces additional charges including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and offenses involving alleged indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Prosecutors said Tristan Tate also faces additional rape, sexual assault and trafficking charges.

The CPS said the alleged crimes span from 2010 to 2017 and involve four additional alleged victims, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the U.K. case to seven.

"The CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US," Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said in a statement. "They have been arrested and await extradition proceedings to the UK."

A law enforcement source told Fox News Digital the charges stem from the United Kingdom and that the arrest warrant is expected to be unsealed to reveal the U.K. charges.

The brothers are expected to make an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida early next week.

Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas of Bedfordshire Police said investigators had worked closely with prosecutors and international law enforcement agencies throughout the case. "There is no place for male violence against women and girls, and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us," Thomas said.

Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied wrongdoing.

The brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, rose to fame as "manosphere" influencers, building millions of followers with content promoting hypermasculinity and male non-monogamy. They have denied criminal allegations filed against them in Romania and the United Kingdom.

Neither the U.S. Marshals Service nor the Justice Department has publicly identified the basis for Saturday's sealed warrant, according to the AP.

The brothers' attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to TMZ.

New York City Democratic Mayor Zohran Mamdani is embracing his identity as a Democratic Socialist, arguing the movement represents a return to the Democratic Party's New Deal roots even as he insists Wall Street and corporate leaders have nothing to fear from his administration.

In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, Mamdani rejected the notion that his political label is a liability, instead characterizing Democratic Socialism as the modern embodiment of Franklin D. Roosevelt's vision for the Democratic Party.

"So much of what makes me proud to be a Democrat is looking at what our party used to stand for. You think about the Four Freedoms, you think FDR, you think the New Deal," Mamdani said. "Those are at the core of what our party's identity is, and yet it feels like to experience it, you have to read about it. You can't see it around you anymore. And that isn't something that I'm willing to accept, and I know that many feel similarly."

Even as he doubled down on Democratic Socialism, Mamdani insisted his administration welcomed private investment and collaboration with Wall Street, finance and real estate leaders, despite continuing to push for higher taxes on the city's wealthiest residents.

"I think it's important," Mamdani said of the city's relationship with private business leaders. "And what I have in common with leaders of those sectors — even amid disagreements, because I believe that we can raise taxes a little bit more on the wealthiest New Yorkers — what brings us together is both a belief in the city and a commitment to its continued vitality."

Mamdani pointed to the recent announcement of American Express' new headquarters at Two World Trade Center as evidence that major corporations continue investing in New York.

The mayor also rejected the idea that Democratic Socialism is incompatible with economic growth after the interviewer remarked that he sounded in line with a "capitalist mayor."

"I will always celebrate continued investment in this city," Mamdani said. "And I'll also look to ensure that more and more New Yorkers can be a part of those benefits."

But even as Mamdani boasts his support for corporate investments, an analysis by the Citizens Budget Commission found New York's share of the nation's millionaires fell from 12.7% in 2010 to 8.7% in 2022, the steepest decline of any state, costing an estimated $10.7 billion in personal income tax revenue in 2022 alone.

The report points to New York's high taxes and declining competitiveness relative to states like Florida and Texas as factors behind its shrinking share of the nation's millionaires.

Mamdani has made raising taxes on wealthy New Yorkers a centerpiece of his economic agenda, arguing the city's highest earners and most profitable corporations should shoulder more of the cost of funding public services.

His interview comes as national Democrats debate the party's future direction ahead of the 2028 presidential election. Mamdani argued that the victories of democratic socialist candidates signal that voters are embracing his vision for the party.

"For too long, it has felt like our party, the Democratic Party, the only answer we have is to say that we are not the Republican Party," Mamdani said. "But we also have to have a vision of what comes after this administration."

He may be missing the start of the upcoming NHL season with a shoulder injury, but Connor Bedard is sticking around in Chicago for years to come.

The Blackhawks announced on Saturday that they had signed Bedard to a five-year deal at $15 million per year.

And that will have Blackhawks fans breathing a sigh of relief.

Bedard was a restricted free agent after completing the final season of his rookie deal last season. That meant the Blackhawks had the exclusive rights to negotiate a new deal with him.

That should never have really been an issue, but offer sheets have been in the news quite a bit this season after the Philadelphia Flyers threw a giant $18 million-a-year deal at Anaheim Ducks star Leo Carlsson.

That meant the Ducks had to match it or lose Carlsson in return for Draft compensation. In the end, they matched, but it puts them on the back foot for other RFAs they need to sign, like Cutter Gauthier and Beckett Sennecke.

Bedard would be an offer sheet target, and while he would need to agree to it, it was still in the Blackhawks' best interest to get an extension done ASAP and lock up their franchise centerpiece.

And I think it's a deal both sides will be pleased with.

Bedard's NHL career has been a little up-and-down due to injury, but he has shown flashes of the kind of greatness people expected when he got to the NHL.

Given Carlsson's $18 million AAV, Chicago has to like that they were able to get Bedard at $15 million AAV.

Now, Bedard will need to put up numbers that justify the deal. According to Puckpedia, the deal carries a full no-move clause but only in the fifth and final year of the deal.

That means if, for whatever reason, things don't work out, the Blackhawks can deal him without having to go through the headache of him waiving his no-move clause or giving the thumbs-up to any trades.

It's the game that no one ever wants to play in, but there was still a lot on the line for both England and France in the third-place match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Saturday.

Both teams hit the pitch at Miami Stadium (also known as Hard Rock Stadium) after some tough semifinal losses: France to Spain, and England to reigning champs Argentina.

France was looking for redemption after coming up short in a tournament where they were widely viewed to be the favorite. Plus, this match presented an opportunity for French star Kylian Mbappe to overtake Argentina's Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race.

However, they were up against an England team that had played well throughout the tournament and was 2-1 against them in World Cup matches. Their two most offensively potent players this tournament, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, both started the match on the bench.

Well, in the early going, it turns out that England had enough offensive firepower to get things started.

In just the 3rd minute, Declan Rice hit paydirt to open the scoring.

Only about ten minutes later, England put another one in the back of the net; however, it was deemed to have been offside.

But even with the big guns sitting on the bench, England was easily the more offensively productive team early, with Ezri Konsa adding another off of a corner in the 18th minute.

But why not make it three?

In the 37th minute, Bukayo Saka scored a goal that was certainly not how the Three Lions would've drawn it up, but it counts just the same.

And while you're at it, Mr. Saka, just tack on another for good measure.

FOX ONE’S NEW WORLD CUP VIEWING EXPERIENCE

England took a 4-0 lead into halftime after one of the most lopsided first halves of the tournament, and few expected France to be on the receiving end, especially with Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham still on the bench.

And, honestly, it could've been worse.

Fortunately for France, they did exactly what they needed to and came out firing in the second half. Mbappe got them on the board in the 48th minute, and put himself ahead of Messi in the Golden Boot race, and even with him in career World Cup goals at 21.

Then, just minutes later, France's Bradley Barcola added another to make it a 4-2 game.

So, while the first half was all England, the second was all about France, and in the 66th minute, Mbappe made it 4-3, while also extending his Golden Boot lead and taking over the top spot on the all-time World Cup goals list.

What. A. Match.

Who cares about third place, right?

But after getting several opportunities to tie it up, England was awarded a penalty kick, and that went to Bukayo Saka, who buried it for the hat trick and to give England a little breathing room late in the match.

It's hard to believe he didn't play a single minute in the semifinal loss to Argentina, right?

And that breathing room was important, because France wasn't going to go quietly.

But England answered back immediately with a beauty from Jude Bellingham, his seventh of the tournament, and that was all she wrote.

Unbelievable.

The final score was, incredibly, 6-4. That was the most goals scored in a World Cup third-place match ever, topping the one in 1958 between France and West Germany.

With that win, England may have come up short when it comes to bringing a World Cup title back home, but that was their best finish in a World Cup since they won it in 1966.

It was an incredible match, and now there's only one left and its for the World Cup title.

Boston police investigate death at home owned by Rep. Ayanna Pressley's husband

Boston police are investigating after a deceased person was found at or near a property owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., Fox News Digital has confirmed.

Officers responded to a residence in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood around 1:52 p.m. Saturday.

Police said they found a person who was deceased. The Boston Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death.

Property records filed in Suffolk County identify the home as being owned by Conan Harris, Pressley's husband, according to the Boston Herald.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., took a swipe at Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., on Saturday, saying Michigan's Democratic Senate primary isn't about her but about whether the "billionaire class" can stop progressive Abdul El-Sayed.

Sanders delivered the remarks at a Detroit campaign rally Saturday alongside El-Sayed, who is set to face Stevens in the Aug. 4 primary.

"In all due respect to Haley Stevens, everybody knows that this is not an election between her and Abdul," Sanders said. "This is an election between Abdul and the billionaire class. That is what this election is about."

Sanders claimed outside groups have outspent El-Sayed's campaign by a margin of 12-to-1, portraying the flood of spending as evidence that powerful interests view the progressive candidate as a threat.. According to AdImpact, super PACs backing Stevens are spending about $26.9 million on television ads during the final five weeks of the primary, compared with roughly $2.1 million backing El-Sayed.

The WNBA has suspended Toronto Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello without pay for one game for using the term "protected species" while referring to Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese.

During the Dream's 111-92 win over Toronto on Friday, Toronto's Nyara Sabally fouled Reese after an offensive rebound.

As the call was being reviewed, Brondello yelled at the referees. Microphones picked her up saying, "Angel, she's a protected species!"

The comments from self-described Democratic socialist Mamdani raises questions about the limits of a mayor's authority over foreign affairs and whether New York City could take legal action against a visiting head of government.

Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley’s Pennsylvania home was burglarized early Saturday morning, police said.

Tredyffrin Township officers responded to Barkley’s home in the Malvern area at about 5:10 a.m. They received a report of a burglary in progress.

The suspects fled before officers arrived, according to a release obtained by Fox News Digital.

Barkley and his family were not hurt, according to police. Authorities did not say whether Barkley or his relatives were inside the home during the break-in.

Detectives are investigating a large white SUV that may have been connected to the burglary. Police released an image of the vehicle and asked the public for help identifying it.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department said it had not received reports of similar activity elsewhere in the area. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

The burglary comes amid heightened concern about thieves targeting professional athletes.

"There's nothing you can say, particularly anything that's mildly interesting or contentious or your viewpoint, that someone somewhere won't find offensive," he said.

Reflecting on how reactions to comedy have evolved, Gervais said audiences today are quicker to take offense than they were two decades ago.

"And times have changed. Twenty years ago, if someone said I was offended by that, I probably would go, 'Why?' Now I go … 'I know you are. Everyone is.'"

While Gervais has frequently addressed cancel culture and free speech in recent stand-up tours, he suggested he is ready to move on from the topic.

"I've dealt with it too much, actually. I think the last couple of tours, I have dealt with cancel culture and free speech because I felt I had to. Now, I don't have to," he said.

"I'm ignoring it all. I shouldn't even bring it into the room. Those people there who've paid hundreds of pounds — they're not offended. I can play to a million people, not one complaint."

Gervais insisted the outrage over his comedy doesn't come from the crowds filling his shows. It comes after his specials reach a much bigger audience online.

"As soon as it goes on Netflix, 50 million people. Of course, there's going to be someone who doesn't like it. What am I going to do? It's too late. I've been paid."

The comic has long dismissed calls to tone down his material, repeatedly defending free speech and arguing that comedians shouldn't shy away from controversial subjects.

Earlier this year, Gervais reignited debate by reposting one of the most memorable lines from his 2020 Golden Globes opening monologue, taking another swipe at celebrities who use awards shows as political platforms.

"If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech," Gervais told the star-studded crowd. "You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg."

The health and wellness information put out on television, podcasts, social media, websites and elsewhere can be overwhelming, but a leading oncologist and University of Pennsylvania bioethicist argues healthy aging can be simplified into six evidence-based rules.

"Don’t be a schmuck" is the first principle offered by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel in his book, "Eat Your Ice Cream: Six Simple Rules for a Long and Healthy Life."

"Don't be stupid," Emanuel said recently on the ZOE Science & Nutrition podcast. "This is something my father used to say to his three sons very commonly when we were doing something dumb."

Emanuel's brothers are former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and powerful talent agent Ari Emanuel.

Emanuel argued that obviously dangerous activities, such as BASE jumping, climbing Mount Everest and smoking and vaping are examples of being a schmuck because they carry a high risk of death.

His other principles for living longer and reducing disease risk include prioritizing an active social life, staying mentally active with new hobbies and opportunities to learn, limiting processed and sugary foods and drinks without being overly restrictive, engaging in moderate exercise and getting proper sleep.

"Our entire brain is constructed around social interactions, and it does way more for us," Emanuel said. "We know that if you're lonely, socially isolated, you dramatically increase your risks of mortality.

"More than 3 million people worldwide have been enrolled in studies about social interaction and longevity," he added. "And the socially isolated, people who have zero or one friends, don't see friends a lot. Those people are much more likely to die in the next few years."

According to Emanuel, being socially isolated or lonely "is the equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day."

Both close relationships and casual social interactions contribute to well-being, he said.

Emanuel explained why he thinks much of society’s obsession with wellness is toxic and what he labels as "the wellness industrial complex" gets wrong.

"You should not be obsessed about wellness," Emanuel said on the podcast. "You should be obsessed about living a meaningful life. That's really what's important, and wellness is only a means to an end."

Much of the wellness industry focuses on self-denial, which is misguided, said Emanuel.

"Biology for humans is about homeostasis, the balance between one extreme and another," he said.

Society's current obsession with wellness is nothing new, he added.

"Wellness is a response to a topsy-turvy world, a lot of uncertainty about what the future's bringing, people feeling like their life's out of control," he said.

"And, so, wellness is a response. This is something I can control — what I eat, the vaccines I get, the exercise — and I think that's what we have today. This is a lot about self-control transmuted into wellness as the outlet."

The body thrives when it doesn’t take dieting or exercising to extremes, Emanuel said. He is a teetotaler himself, but his wife enjoys cocktails, and when they have a dinner party, they serve alcohol.

Don’t drink alone or use alcohol to drown your sorrows or avoid dealing with them, Emanuel advised.

The ZOE podcast asked Emanuel to advise listeners who aren’t following any of his six rules what to try first.

"Dinner parties," he said. "You cook, and you both have good, healthy food because you've cooked it. Ynd you've challenged your mind ‘cause you're adding a new recipe, and you're figuring out how to do it right.

"You have people over, so you've got social connections," he continued. "You're challenging your mind with a good conversation. And when it's all over, you go out for a walk so you get some physical activity.

"This is like you've done almost everything in wellness. All of those elements are key to wellness, and it's the kind of thing you can do, you know, once a weekend or ... And you'll be happier."

Man who allegedly rode naked atop moving locomotive busted after bizarre train stunt: sheriff

He boarded the train, but his clothes stayed behind.

An Arizona man was arrested after authorities said he allegedly broke into a Union Pacific locomotive and surfed atop the moving train in the nude as it traveled through northeastern Colorado, leaving stunned witnesses watching the bizarre ride before deputies took him into custody Thursday.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Daniel Ray Ballance, of Quartzsite, Arizona, and allege he broke a window to enter the locomotive before climbing onto the roof while the train was moving.

Ballance faces felony and misdemeanor charges after the incident, authorities said.

Authorities said witnesses reported seeing Ballance riding naked atop the locomotive before deputies arrested him.

The sheriff's office later shared his mugshot alongside a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post about the arrest.

"For those of you who had the unfortunate experience of seeing this gentleman surfing naked on top of a moving locomotive yesterday, I want you to know that he was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges," the sheriff's office wrote.

According to the sheriff's office, Ballance later told deputies he loved "vodka, beer and playing the Banjo."

"Daniel expressed his love of vodka, beer and playing the Banjo," the agency joked. "Unfortunately, we had to separate him from those loves and the train ride.

"Instead, Daniel is spending some time at an all-expenses-paid stay in jail, where he is presumed innocent until proven guilty."

Ballance was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges. Court records detailing the charges were not immediately available.

KDVR reported Ballance allegedly broke a window to gain entry into the Union Pacific locomotive before climbing onto the moving train.

It seems as if an entire season's worth of headlines have been spawned from this week's ACC Media Days in Charlotte.

From Florida State head coach Mike Norvell acting seemingly oblivious to any hot seat talk to SMU's Rhett Lashlee angering an entire conference with his comments about the Sun Belt, college football fans have been treated to only the finest of offseason theater from several of the personalities of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

On Friday, however, one man entered the conversation with what may have been the craziest take any college football fan has heard in years.

Meet Pat Narduzzi, head coach of the Pitt Panthers.

Pitt had a solid campaign under Narduzzi in 2025, going 6-2 in conference and even having a chance to play for the ACC title going into the last week of the season.

Maybe that moderate success has gone to the man's head, however, because he dropped a quote so shocking you have to hear it to believe it.

Did all of these ACC coaches get a call from the conference's PR director telling them to drum up some headlines for clicks or what?

Now listen, I'm an SEC homer, so the last thing I want to do is defend the Big Ten, but where has this guy been the last three years?

He cites a "winning record" against both the SEC and Big Ten in bowl games and the regular season, which I guess counts for something, but he wasn't really specific about the years or teams involved, so I'm not sure if you can even count that as a win for Narduzzi.

I distinctly remember Miami losing to Indiana in the College Football Playoff championship game, which has to count for something.

Speaking of championships, the Big Ten is on a three-year streak of winning the national title in college football, and before that, the SEC had a four-year run.

You have to go all the way back to 2018, when a freshman Trevor Lawrence helped Clemson obliterate Alabama in the Bay Area, to find an ACC team winning it all.

He claims the ACC has better players than the Big Ten, but I'm not so sure about that either.

The 2026 NFL Draft saw 68 players selected from the Big Ten (10 first-rounders), while only 38 were taken from the ACC (six first-rounders).

The recruiting side of things doesn't help Narduzzi's narrative either.

According to the 247Sports 2026 recruiting rankings, the Big Ten edged the ACC out in terms of teams in the top-25 (six to four), but when you look at the top-ten, it's even more lopsided in favor of the Big Ten, as they held three of the top four spots in the composite while the ACC's lone representative in the top-ten, Miami, sat at number nine.

Other than the aforementioned Hurricanes, the ACC hasn't had much to crow about for the past few years, but apparently that hasn't stopped Narduzzi from trying.

Who knows, maybe Narduzzi and the rest of the ACC will make me eat my words this year when they go out and dominate their other Power 4 competitors en route to a national championship.

Until then, though, college football belongs to the Big Ten with the SEC nipping at their heels, leaving the ACC in a distant third place.

Navy says no reprimands or firings after Blue Angels’ low pass over beachgoers

Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao said the flight debrief was complete and there would be no reprimands or firings and there was "no problem" after the Navy's Blue Angels drew widespread attention with a wildly low flyover on a Florida beach.

Cao tweeted: "That’s the sound of Freedom! Semper fi and Hooyah," on Thursday after videos of the maneuver went viral.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and other Trump allies also took to social media to weigh in.

Video shared online showed beachgoers cheering as two Blue Angels jets with the flight demonstration team made a low pass over Pensacola Beach on Wednesday. Social media reactions varied, from those who praised the flyover and wished they could have seen it in person, to those who criticized the stunt.

Hegseth, however, posted on X, "The flyovers will continue until morale improves."

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell shared a photo of one of the aircraft performing a maneuver during the flyover and wrote, "Carry on Patriots."

Eric Trump also responded by sharing an ABC News report on X, writing, "Can't stand the manufactured outrage by the low-T mainstream media. This was undoubtedly the highlight of these people's day…"

The ABC News report Eric Trump shared said Navy officials confirmed in a statement to the outlet that Blue Angels leadership is "reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review."

The Blue Angels did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The flyover came during Wednesday morning's annual "Breakfast with the Blues" event, which marks the start of Red, White and Blues Week and gives spectators a chance to watch the Navy's flight demonstration squadron practice over the Gulf Coast.

Local news outlet WALA-TV reported that this year's event drew one of its largest crowds in recent memory, with the Casino Beach and Quietwater parking lots filling by about 7 a.m. Thousands lined the beach as the Blue Angels spent about two hours practicing ahead of this weekend's air show.

Brenda Bennett, who has attended the event for decades, told the newspaper she had never seen a crowd this large.

"They're showing out," the pair told the newspaper. "They love to put on a show for the breakfast crowd. You feel like they're just so much closer and we get to hear them talking on the radio and they do different maneuvers than they do for the show."

Many spectators told the outlet the event felt especially meaningful following the recent America 250 celebrations. Bennett said she hopes Americans continue celebrating "our freedom that we have here in the United States."

The Blue Angels are scheduled to practice again Thursday before public performances Friday and Saturday.

In the bottom of the first inning against the Minnesota Twins, Cubs first baseman Michael Busch sent the 0-1 offering from Twins righty Taj Bradley to the right field bleachers, where a bunch of fans tried to get their paws on it.

However, the one who came up with it happened to be the first baseman from the 2016 curse-breaking Cubs.

As I said, it seems borderline impossible for that to happen once, but the same thing happened to Rizzo in another game at Wrigley just last season.

It was nice of Rizzo to switch up his jerseys, so we know that those homers happened on different days. Would've been nice if he held up that day's newspaper just to make it concrete.

This boggles my brain, and I think it just means that we all have to go on Anthony Rizzo home run-catching (or, more accurately, grabbing off the ground) watch. At his current one home run ball per season clip, he's looking at making it No. 3 next season.

Rizzo was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2007 and made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2011.

McIlroy, 37, unloaded on Bryson DeChambeau when asked about DeChambeau's conduct Friday after the 32-year-old was assessed a two-stroke penalty after a lengthy and heated interaction with rules officials well after the round.

"I won’t pretend to be up here and defend Bryson," McIlroy told reporters after shooting a 1-under 69 in the third round. "I’m not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it is performative. I think a lot of it’s for attention.

"To hold the tournament hostage like that and to have all of us — players, volunteers, everyone — waiting on him to depart, I didn’t feel like it was a great look."

The reigning two-time Masters champion said he had no doubts DeChambeau improved the line for his backswing and that his actions "didn’t seem right."

"I think there’s no doubt that he improved the line of his backswing," McIlroy said. "Again, it’s like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don’t think it matters. Hopefully, it was careless, but I think the two-shot penalty was justified, for sure."

Other golfers were a little more sympathetic to DeChambeau, and former Open champion Xander Schauffele called the situation unfortunate.

"He said he didn’t do it intentionally, and it’s unfortunate that he got penalized because he was playing incredibly well, and obviously he’s still playing incredibly well," Schauffele said. "So, he’s obviously going to have something to prove these next two days."

DeChambeau responded to the two-stroke penalty with a solid third round, as he went 1-under par to finish the day at 6-under for the tournament. He is four strokes off of Sam Burns, who leads at 10-under for the tournament after shooting 5-under par on Saturday.

If DeChambeau falls within two strokes of the winner Sunday, the discourse over his two-stroke penalty will not dissipate anytime soon.

According to season-long data from UmpScorecards, who measures every called ball and strike against MLB's Statcast strike zone, grading umpires on overall accuracy, consistency and how they perform relative to the expected difficulty of the pitches they call, Pawol currently ranks 89th out of 91 qualified MLB umpires in overall ball-and-strike accuracy. Yikes.

She owns a 91.8% overall accuracy rate, a 93.1% consistency rating, and an accuracy-above-expected mark of -1.6%.

Pawol had an abysmal start to her game behind the plate on Sunday, June 16, between the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins. She had three ball calls overturned in the top of the first inning alone.

Pawol’s very first strike call, in her first MLB game behind the plate, was also terrible.

Here’s a challenge from a 2026 spring training game between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians where the broadcaster not so subtly trolled Pawol saying, "The call is overturned on a pitch that was right down the middle of the plate that was called a ball."

The most recent controversy came between the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays on July 13, where she didn’t allow Padres’ Sung-Mun Song to challenge a called strike and shortly after, Pawol called a balk to force in a run for the Padres.

Her overall consistency in that game, as recorded by UmpScorecards, was only 88%. The average is 94%. I also found it odd that the other umpires seemed to be protecting Pawol from interacting with the managers. I get the impression that managers can barely argue with her on the field, or not at all because the other umps step in. Is it because she’s a woman? I can’t tell you that definitively, but it does raise eyebrows.

While Pawol has time to turn things around, it’s clear from a meritocracy standpoint, she hasn’t proven herself worthy of the position she’s in. The worst rated umpire, CB Bucknor, has accepted a buyout and is retiring at the end of season. As Zach Dean said in his piece, I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

I couldn't see Pawol being offered the same buyout scenario. It would reflect poorly on the league after making such a big deal about her promotion, with many people bending over backward to defend the decision, only for her to last a mere two seasons.

Dem Rep Henry Cuellar rejects DSA agenda, says socialists are trying to 'use' Democratic Party

Rep. Henry Cuellar issued a warning to his party, claiming the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is "using" the Democratic Party as a temporary vehicle to launch a radical agenda.

Speaking on "Saturday in America," Cuellar argued that DSA candidates hide their more extreme platform ideas behind softer talking points to win Democratic seats.

"They're trying to use the safe Democratic seats to run in. And they also know that the Democratic Party is inadequate, but they're using us or trying to use the Democratic Party as a vehicle so later they can set up their own platform," Cuellar said.

The Texas representative called on fellow Democrats to openly reject the DSA’s positions, including what he called more extreme views such as restructuring the Supreme Court and abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"As a Democrat, I reject what the DSA is doing. I read their platform, and it is radical," Cuellar said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the DSA for comment.

"They want to ... get rid of the Senate. So constitutional changes there. They want to get rid of ICE. I reject that. They want to defund police. I reject that, reject also the constitutional items. They want to have open borders also. I reject that. They want to get rid of prisons. I reject that," he said.

He noted that democratic socialist candidates don’t often discuss those agenda items, instead winning people over by focusing on issues of affordability, housing and the cost of living.

"They’re trying to use the Democratic Party. They're not talking about those radical positions. They're talking about affordability and housing, things that sound good. But we as Democrats, we reject that radical faction," Cuellar said.

"They don't even have their own party, but they're trying to use the Democrat Party. ... I reject them completely."

He noted he has firsthand experience being primaried by socialists. He said the DSA and Justice Democrats spent over $20 million against him in two past primaries, which he said he won by running on strong border security and supporting oil and gas jobs.

"I defeated them, and what I did, I stood for Border Patrol, I stood strong border security, I stood up for oil and gas in a Democratic primary. And guess what? The Democratic voters in my district said yes and said no to the radical position," he said.

Cuellar’s warnings come after several democratic socialists won major elections, including in New York and Colorado. In Colorado, a new candidate backed by the DSA, Melat Kiros, pulled off an upset, defeating longtime Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette in Denver's heavily Democratic district.

In late June, a group of far-left candidates won their elections in New York, too. They were backed by New York City’s democratic socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani. The winners included newcomer Darializa Avila Chevalier, who beat powerful Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Brad Lander, who defeated Rep. Dan Goldman.

A simple blood test detecting a specific protein linked to Alzheimer’s disease may help predict future cognitive decline in older adults up to a decade before any noticeable symptoms appear, according to a new study.

The Harvard-led research, presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in London and simultaneously published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, could transform how doctors assess dementia risk and help patients prepare for the disease.

By measuring a blood biomarker called p-tau217, which tracks the buildup of damaging proteins in the brain, clinicians may soon be able to assess Alzheimer's risk much like they use cholesterol tests to estimate heart disease risk, researchers say.

In one of the largest analyses of its kind, researchers tracked nearly 2,700 cognitively healthy adults averaging 70 years of age for up to a decade.

They found that symptom-free individuals with high levels of p-tau217 had an estimated 78% chance of developing cognitive impairment within 10 years and a roughly one in three chance within five years. Even those with moderately elevated levels faced a 45% risk over a decade.

The p-tau217 protein is a modified form of tau, which forms tangles in the brain and is associated with memory loss. The blood test provided information beyond what standard brain scans and genetic testing can offer, according to the researchers.

Rachel Buckley, the study’s lead author and an associate professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, said the findings provide some of the clearest evidence yet that dementia risk can be detected years before memory problems begin.

"Once verified, these blood tests could be used to recruit patients for clinical trials of treatments to prevent cognitive decline and dementia," she said in a press release.

"In the future, when treatments are approved for use early in the disease process, these tests could help guide monitoring, treatment decisions and counseling for patients and families."

The researchers cautioned that p-tau217 cannot fully predict an individual's future on its own. Other factors like age, genetics, kidney function and racial background can also influence biomarker levels and dementia risk.

Maria Carrillo, chief science officer at the Alzheimer’s Association in Chicago, said targeting the silent stage of the disease before memory issues arise is where future treatments could have the greatest impact.

"Identifying people at risk earlier could fundamentally change how we diagnose, treat and potentially prevent dementia," she told Fox News Digital, noting that earlier detection could allow people to begin interventions before symptoms develop.

It's a big weekend for IndyCar with the series' race at Nashville Superspeedway Sunday getting a big lead-in from the FIFA World Cup final.

But it got off to a scary start after a big crash for Team Penske's David Malukas that has ruled him out of Saturday's qualifying session.

Malukas, in his first season behind the wheel of the No. 12 Chevrolet, lost the rear of his car mid-corner and went left rear first into the SAFER barrier during practice on Saturday morning.

The impact of the crash destroyed the rear of Malukas' car.

IndyCar vet Conor Daly has since been tapped to take over Malukas' car for qualifying. However, his status for Saturday evening's practice and Sunday's race, the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix, remains unclear.

Interestingly, Malukas was already set to serve a nine-place grid penalty due to an unapproved engine change.

Even after qualifying had gotten underway, the team was still working to put the car together, with the added consideration that if Daly drives in qualifying, he will have to drive the rest of the weekend, even if Malukas is healthy enough to return.

‘The Dark Knight’ remains a masterpiece 18 years later and a reminder of Christopher Nolan’s greatness

Do you know where you were on this day 18 years ago?

You probably don't, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at a movie theater formerly known as Ridge Cinema in Davie, Florida, watching "The Dark Knight" on opening day with a group of my closest friends.

I can recall this partially because of how mind-blowing the movie was (more on that in a bit) but also because some guy had a heart attack in the front row and I had to run to the concession stand and tell some poor teenager working his summer job to call 9-1-1.

He survived, but they had to end the movie prematurely and offer us vouchers to come watch it again at a later date for free.

I didn't even see the climax and resolution until the DVD release, and I still thought "The Dark Knight" was the greatest superhero movie ever made. That's how good it was.

18 years later, and I still hold that opinion.

Sure, movies like "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War" were bigger spectacles, but Christopher Nolan's grounded and gritty take on the caped crusader is still a nearly flawless masterpiece that stands the test of time almost two decades after its cinematic release.

I thought with all of the controversy surrounding Nolan and his questionable decisions pertaining to his latest blockbuster, "The Odyssey," it would be nice to look back on a film from the director/producer that is almost universally beloved.

The word "perfection" gets thrown around a lot, and while I don't think "The Dark Knight" is perfect (nor do I think any movie is perfect, for that matter), it's about as close as a blockbuster film can get.

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN CONFIRMS BIZARRE 'THE ODYSSEY' CASTING CHOICES INCLUDING RAPPER TRAVIS SCOTT

Let me preface a lot of what I'm about to say with this: I am no film junkie and I'm certainly not a classically trained critic, but I think that is what makes my opinion a good one.

In a way, I represent the masses, the lowest common denominator, if you will.

So when I tell you this movie is almost perfect, it isn't coming from a place of pretentious snobbery, but as a casual fan.

One of the biggest knocks against modern superhero movies is that they are too bloated and stuffed full of unnecessary protagonists and antagonists.

Go watch "Avengers: End Game" without having sat through the requisite 24 other films you have to view before going into it, and your head will be spinning by the 10th-minute mark.

"Who is this blue chick and why the hell is she hanging with Iron Man?"

Even if you never saw "Batman Begins" and went into "The Dark Knight" fresh, Nolan does a fabulous job of introducing new characters and establishing old ones in the same breath.

You don't need to know who Rachel Dawes is from the first movie, because in the first 15 minutes of "The Dark Knight," it's established that she's a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's whom he has unrequited feelings for, while she's in love with the new district attorney.

Bam. Got it? Good.

Speaking of protagonists and antagonists, "The Dark Knight" starts off with introducing the Joker and does a great job of building him up.

That way, by the time the movie kicks into full gear, it isn't jarring when he shows up and inserts himself in the war between the mob and the forces of good in Gotham.

Speaking of the Joker, it's almost become a cliche at this point, but Heath Ledger's tragic turn as the Clown Prince of Crime is simply sublime.

He carries every scene he's in, and his reveal at the start of the film still hits the same way it did 18 years earlier.

A lot of people heap praise on Ledger at the expense of the other cast members, but that really isn't fair to the rest of the actors in this movie.

Everyone is at their best in "The Dark Knight," particularly Christian Bale as Wayne/Batman, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Even supporting characters like Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) are scene-stealers.

Everything about the movie is memorable, from the dialogue to the set pieces and even the plot.

Nolan's take on post-9/11 America and the dangers of the Patriot Act were a little controversial in 2008 but have aged like fine wine and make the movie even more of an engaging watch in 2026.

The way he weaves society's fear of a surveillance state into the third act of the movie so seamlessly - with Batman's sonar technology turning every phone in Gotham into a tracker to catch the Joker - is incredibly "based," especially when you consider why Nolan is in hot water these days.

"The Dark Knight" is even one of the most quotable movies of all time, too; a rarity for any superhero movie that eschews the Marvel "thousand-quips-a-minute" form of dialogue that has become so pervasive and cringey over the last decade.

Lines like "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" and "why so serious" became so ubiquitous and "memeable" after "The Dark Knight's" release that they still find their way into the cultural zeitgeist to this day.

Even the source material from which Nolan draws his inspiration for this movie is a love letter to hardcore Batman fans.

"The Dark Knight" has elements of classic Batman comics like "The Long Halloween" and "The Man Who Laughs," showing that Nolan at least knows his stuff on a surface level about Gotham's broody guardian.

I could go on and on about what makes this movie great, as we are nearly 1,000 words in and I haven't even discussed the grounded realism of Batman and his rogues gallery or the clever story that seems to wind with twists at every turn, but it's all been said before.

Suffice to say, "The Dark Knight" was such a groundbreaking film that every other superhero movie, even Nolan's follow-up, "The Dark Knight Rises," falls short in trying to live up to its legacy.

As DC continues to try and catch the lightning in a bottle that was the Nolanverse, the simple fact remains: all other superhero movies from now until the end of time are playing for second place.

Even calling "The Dark Knight" one of the best superhero movies of all time does it a disservice. It belongs in the pantheon of best movies.

Period.

So while you are taking your (much deserved) jabs at Nolan for his follies with "The Odyssey," just remember the gift that is his magnum opus.

Liberal circuit judge blasts SCOTUS conservatives, says Hawaii will defy high court

A Hawaii Supreme Court justice used a ruling overturning a decades-old criminal conviction to deliver a blistering rebuke of Chief Justice John Roberts' Supreme Court, accusing the nation's highest court of weakening constitutional rights, damaging democracy and advancing a political agenda.

Justice Todd Eddins authored the 91-page majority opinion Wednesday in State v. Granillo, a case involving a man convicted in 1990 of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman on Maui.

The court ordered a new trial after concluding that hair and fiber evidence presented by an FBI expert relied on forensic science that has since been discredited.

But in roughly eight pages of the opinion, Eddins argued Hawaii's courts should not look to the Roberts court when interpreting the state constitution, using the case to deliver an unusually sharp critique of the nation's highest court.

"When six justices walk away from those they are supposed to protect, state constitutions hold the line," Eddins wrote, referring to the court's six conservative justices. "That is not defiance. That is the design."

Eddins argued that Hawaii's Constitution provides stronger protections than the federal Constitution as interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court and said the court has abandoned landmark civil rights principles.

"The Court that now defines federal due process does not honor the work of 1954," Eddins wrote. "It revives the work of 1857. The work of 1896."

Eddins was referring to Brown v. Board of Education, ruled in 1954, which ended racial segregation in public schools, and Dred Scott v. Sandford, the infamous 1857 decision denying citizenship to Black Americans and Plessy v. Ferguson, the 1896 ruling that upheld racial segregation.

Eddins argued that the Roberts court no longer reflects the constitutional principles established in Brown v. Board of Education. Instead, he argued the court's originalist approach relies on the same type of constitutional interpretation in the discredited Dred Scott and Plessy decisions.

"Today’s hubristic originalists use the same method to control modern life," Eddins wrote.

"The Court overrides what Congress passed," Eddins continued. "It overrides what the people chose. All to serve its own ends. What this Court has done to constitutional rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law explains why Hawaiʻi’s Constitution takes no instruction from it."

Throughout the opinion, Eddins pointed to many of the Roberts court's most consequential decisions as evidence that constitutional protections have been weakened, including Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned the federal constitutional right to abortion; Citizens United v. FEC on campaign finance; Rucho v. Common Cause on partisan gerrymandering; Trump v. United States on presidential immunity; and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which expanded Second Amendment protections.

Eddins accused the Roberts court of adopting a "colorblind" approach to the equal protection clause that, in his view, ignores the amendment's original purpose of protecting formerly enslaved Black Americans.

"The Roberts Court sees only white," he wrote. "It refuses to acknowledge who the Equal Protection Clause was written to protect."

He also suggested that recent Supreme Court decisions have repeatedly expanded the power of government officials and wealthy interests while reducing protections for individual rights.

"A court that systematically dismantles democratic safeguards, steamrolls constitutional liberties, and tramples human dignity does not chart the course for the Hawaiʻi Constitution," he wrote.

The opinion quickly drew criticism from legal observers who said it was highly unusual for a state supreme court opinion to devote so much space to criticizing the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The Court issues an unhinged attack on the legitimacy of the Supreme Court," Iowa Solicitor General Eric Wessan wrote on X. "I haven't ever seen something like this. And it's not good."

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley similarly described the opinion as "devoid of judicial restraint and decorum."

"The Hawaii Supreme Court just issued a truly shocking opinion that unleashed a torrent of rage and recrimination against the majority of the United States Supreme Court, including suggesting that they are de facto racists," Turley wrote on X.

The opinion comes just weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court handed Hawaii a major loss in Wolford v. Lopez, striking down the state's so-called "vampire rule." In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled Hawaii could not require gun owners to get a property owner's permission before carrying a gun into businesses and other private property open to the public.
