Brewers rally past chaotic late-game replay, premature celebrations to win first World Series game in 44 years

For the first time since 1982, the Milwaukee Brewers have won a World Series game.

The Brew Crew took Game 1 of the Fall Classic over the Tampa Bay Rays in a sweaty 3-2 ballgame.

Down two, the Rays loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Liam Hicks grounded into what initially was ruled a game-ending double play. However, replay showed shortstop Cooper Pratt came off second base, instead making it a 3-2 game with runners on second and third and two outs.

The Brewers had already ignited their fireworks, creating a chaotic, fog-filled scene, before Johnny DeLuca came to the plate and struck out to end the game.

The city of Milwaukee waited 46 years to see its team in the Fall Classic, and this year's Brewers wanted to stop wasting time. An RBI triple by Christian Yelich, followed by a William Contreras single, put the Brewers up 2-0 in the first inning. However, that was all they'd get for a while, as Nick Martinez settled down to get through five innings of work.

The Milwaukee pitching, though, was just as good. Soon-to-be Cy Young Award winner Jacob Misiorowski held the Rays to just one run in his five innings, but certainly not without the help of some Rays baserunning blunders.

Tampa Bay had runners on first and second with one out in the first, but Junior Caminero lined out, and Jonathan Aranda was doubled off at second to end the threat. In the fifth, Victor Mesa Jr. was caught stealing at third for the final out of the inning, a big baseball no-no.

The Brewers matched that mistake with one of their own almost immediately, as nine-hitter David Hamilton made the first out at third in the bottom half of the frame trying to stretch a double into a triple.

But they got a huge insurance run after some more typical Brewers small ball. In the seventh, Hamilton got a productive second out to get a runner into scoring position, and Jackson Chourio drove him in with an opposite-field, ground-ball single to make it 3-1. No team in the league went oppo and hit grounders at a higher rate than the Brewers in the regular season.

Milwaukee will have Logan Henderson on the bump on Saturday night, while Drew Rasmussen will toe the slab for Tampa Bay.

Mavericks star Cooper Flagg exits game after hard foul sparks shoving match vs Pacers

Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg exited Friday night's game against the Indiana Pacers with an apparent shoulder injury after taking a hard foul while attempting a layup.

In the final minute of the second quarter, Flagg made a great defensive play to intercept a pass and broke down the court for what was looking like a very easy layup for the second-year pro out of Duke.

What he may not have anticipated was Pacer Aaron Nesmith hustling behind him and fouling him as he approached the basket.

Flagg went down hard under the basket and stayed down on the floor for some time.

The Mavericks weren't big on that one for obvious reasons. You've always got to stick up for your stars.

Nesmith was dealt a flagrant foul, but not before some pushing and shoving broke out.

And shout-out to Pacers assistant coach Jenny Boucek, who dove straight into the fray to retrieve Nesmith.

As for Flagg, he unfortunately left the game and did not return.

That was a turning point in the game, considering Dallas was up by 33 points at the time of Nesmith's foul on Flagg. However, this one ended up being way closer than you'd think, given the margin at the half.

The Mavericks held on to win by a score of 121-108, and while they undoubtedly will be fired up about the win, it might be overshadowed by concern for Flagg.

Michigan Senate rivals clash over Muslim Brotherhood allegations as Rogers doubles down on El-Sayed

Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed accused Republican rival Mike Rogers of questioning his loyalty to the United States during a heated Fox News interview Friday, while Rogers doubled down on allegations that his opponent has embraced the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The candidates both spoke separately with Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier on "Special Report" in Detroit, 11 days before the Nov. 3 election.

Baier pressed El-Sayed about a 2012 statement involving former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who was affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

"No, no, no, let me just stop there," El-Sayed interrupted. "You are asking this question to raise a question about whether or not I have dual loyalties."

Baier explained he was asking about allegations raised by Rogers' campaign.

"I will be loyal to the Constitution of the United States," El-Sayed said.

"Don't be Rogers' campaign," he continued.

"I'm asking a question," Baier replied.

"Be a journalist," El-Sayed shot back.

El-Sayed accused Rogers of making his Muslim faith a campaign issue, calling the suggestion "sad" and "beneath him."

EL-SAYED'S PAST MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD COMMENTS RAISE RED FLAGS AS HE EYES POWERFUL ROLE

The controversy centers partly on a 2012 letter that The Washington Free Beacon reported El-Sayed signed supporting decisions by then-Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, including calls to purge Egypt's police and media.

El-Sayed has also faced scrutiny over social media posts from his half-sister describing their mother's alleged involvement in Muslim Brotherhood activism in the 1970s. He has denied personal or family ties to the organization and said he was raised by his father and stepmother.

In an Oct. 17 Fox News interview, El-Sayed acknowledged that his sister-in-law was a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging her alleged placement on a terrorist watchlist but insisted she had done nothing wrong. The FBI declined to confirm or deny her watchlist status. The lawsuit does not establish wrongdoing.

Rogers rejected El-Sayed's characterization in his own interview.

"I wore the uniform of the United States. Many in my family, including our son, wore the uniform of the United States so he can pray any way he wants," Rogers said. "It is not how he prays, it's how he thinks."

Rogers accused El-Sayed of embracing the organization's ideology and portraying himself as a victim.

"He has adopted the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood," Rogers alleged.

Baier noted that El-Sayed had denied ever belonging to the organization and pledged allegiance to the Constitution.

"Does he disavow? Does he really say it?" Rogers responded.

El-Sayed had explicitly disavowed the organization at an Oct. 17 town hall, answering, "Sure. Yeah, absolutely" when asked.

The candidates also differed over the war with Iran, which El-Sayed blamed for rising gasoline and grocery prices.

"We need a war powers resolution to end the capacity for this president to wage an illegal, unjustifiable war," El-Sayed said.

Rogers defended the original rationale for military action but said he has urged President Donald Trump to end the conflict.

"I've called for him to wrap it up. That's the right thing to do," Rogers said.

Turning to Michigan's economy, Rogers said the state has lost 27,000 manufacturing jobs and faces some of the nation's highest auto insurance costs. He also raised concerns about education, claiming roughly two-thirds of fourth graders cannot read at grade level.

Rogers defended Trump's influence in Michigan, pointing to his support among voters and crediting his trade policies with encouraging General Motors to bring Silverado pickup truck production back to the state.

But the Republican acknowledged a disagreement with Trump over trade with Canada.

"I've come out and said we shouldn't be doing the Canadian tariffs the way we are doing them," Rogers said.

Baier also pressed El-Sayed over Medicare-for-all, and whether middle-class taxes would rise.

"I'm fine with people keeping their private insurance if that's what they want, but I want guaranteed public insurance for everybody," El-Sayed said.

Rogers disputed El-Sayed's position, arguing that Medicare-for-all would eliminate private insurance and raise costs for Michigan families.

El-Sayed touted upcoming campaign appearances with former President Barack Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., while questioning whether Trump would help Rogers in Michigan.

With both Trump and Obama expected to campaign in Michigan over the weekend, the candidates are turning to their parties' most recognizable figures as they make their final pitches to voters ahead of Election Day.

The pre-wedding festivities brought together loved ones from different chapters of their lives for a special evening honoring the couple.

Tyler Robinson hearing ends without trial date set, prompting fiery plea from Erika Kirk's lawyer

PROVO, Utah — Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old Utah man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk at a Turning Point USA event last year, still doesn't have a trial date after a Utah judge listened to oral arguments from both sides — and a lawyer for Kirk's widow — about how much time they think they'll need and when they'd like to start.

Robinson, wearing a light gray suit, uncuffed and unshackled, did not address the court. He spoke quietly with attorneys Richard Novak, Kathy Nester and Staci Visser during breaks, at one point handing Visser a note.

Judge Tony Graf Jr. said he had planned to set a trial date at the end of the hearing but needed more time after questioning both sides about their expected timelines and commitments in previously scheduled trials on other cases.

Jeffrey Neiman, an attorney for Kirk's widow, Erika, pleaded with the court to speed things up. Robinson did not enter a plea until last month, nearly a year after being charged.

"Every day of delay adds to uncertainty, invites speculation and that erodes confidence in this system," Neiman said at one point.

The roughly three-hour hearing included several interruptions due to technical difficulties with WebEx, with Robinson defense attorney Michael Burt and an attorney for Kirk's parents, Robert and Kathy, attending remotely.

Utah County prosecutors had floated Jan. 31, 2028, as their preferred trial date but said they could be ready in October 2027.

Visser said that pretrial litigation "builds upon itself," and given that there are over 31,000 pieces of discovery and "8 million" artifacts of digital evidence, lawyers will need time to file motions to compel, file subpoenas, etc.

"Discovery review is foundational," she said. "It impacts everything else."

As a result, she said, the state’s proposed January 2028 trial is "not practical."

The defense had asked for a "soft target" date in the third quarter of 2029, citing large amounts of discovery and other trial preparations — as well as trial commitments in other cases. Among those, one directly conflicted with the prosecution's desired start date, a federal racketeering case defense attorney Novak has scheduled for Jan. 10, 2028.

Both sides agreed that setting a trial that would run through the holidays could put potential jurors and witnesses in a bind.

"Justice delayed this long stops being justice for the Kirk family," Neiman said.

Neiman noted that only about 5% of federal cases actually make it to trial and said the Kirk family would be happy to write to the federal judge and ask for the January trial to be rescheduled to clear up Robinson's defense attorney.

Under Utah's state constitution, victims and their representatives have a right to a speedy resolution to their case. Erika Kirk is the court's designated victim's representative.

Novak told the court that the trial's start date had been "set in stone" and argued against rushing things along in the case against Robinson.

"The reality is rushing to trial does not lead to closure. It does not lead to finality. It leads to mistakes," he said.

Graf expressed concern that if he does not set a date soon, additional conflicts could arise.

NASCAR legend Tony Stewart's return to the Truck Series ends early with big crash at Talladega

For the second race this season, NASCAR great Tony Stewart hopped into a Craftsman Truck Series truck, but fans unfortunately didn’t get much time to see Smoke doing his thing at Talladega Superspeedway.

Back in February, Stewart made his return to NASCAR competition when he drove the No. 25 Ram 1500 for Kaulig Racing.

That ended with a crash 39 laps into the race, so Stewart was surely hoping — and fans certainly were too — that he would make it the full race distance.

Unfortunately, his time on track was even shorter.

The race got off to a good start for Stewart. He qualified 29th, but was able to gain 11 positions in the first 15 laps.

But on lap 17, Stewart Friesen lost control of his No. 52 Toyota Tundra on the backstretch, which caused a big, nine-car wreck.

That was it for Stewart, which is a real shame for a few reasons. First of all, it sure seems like that truck of his had some potential, given how many positions he picked up early. Secondly, fans didn't get to see as much of the NASCAR Hall of Famer back on track.

Hey, that is the reality of superspeedway racing. You need a good helping of luck to go along with that quick truck.

"Yeah, it’s just a racing deal," Stewart said, per the Associated Press. "That’s part of it. Stewart (Friesen) couldn’t go anywhere. He had an issue, and he’s stuck in the middle. So he was doing the best he could to hang onto it, and just everybody around him got caught up in it."

Well, maybe we'll get to see Stewart back in the Truck Series at some point next season. There aren't any concrete plans, but he's certainly due for some good luck.

The race win ended up going to Spire Motorsports' Sammy Smith, who managed to take the checkered flag in overtime. It was Smith's first career Truck Series win and came the same day that it was announced that he will compete full-time for Tricon Garage next season.

McMahon plans to 'fire' herself from a job, striving to show Congress that the Department of Ed is not needed

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon doubled down on closing the Department of Education (ED) as planned to demonstrate to Congress that the federal agency she leads is no longer necessary.

"Signing these interagency agreements means, in fact, that the Department of Education is contracting with these agencies to perform the functions that they've been given," McMahon told Fox News Digital.

"The first big block of work was transferred over to the Department of Labor."

Throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump promised to eliminate the ED, later signing an executive order directing his administration to begin dismantling the agency.

MCMAHON EMBARKS ON FOUR-STATE TOUR TO PUT LOCAL LEADERS AND PARENTS 'BACK INTO THE DRIVER’S SEAT' OF EDUCATION

As part of that effort, the Department of Labor (DOL) is taking on a major role in the day-to-day administration of adult education, family literacy and career and technical education (CTE) programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Perkins Act.

While Labor manages operational duties, the Department of Education retains statutory responsibilities and oversight while shifting services to states and grant recipients.

"It started first with CTE — Career and Technical Education — then K–12 and finally higher education as well," McMahon said.

McMahon explained that she wants to show lawmakers that federal support for students won't falter without a standalone Cabinet department.

"I've asked Congress with this proof of concept in these interagency agreements: 'Let me prove to you that it works,'" she said.

"Ultimately, Congress has to vote if we do close the Department of Education, and if I, in fact, am able to fire myself. Hopefully, they will vote [for it], because I believe the outcome will be better for students, and that is the goal. That is certainly the president's goal."

TRUMP ADMIN URGES RETURNING EDUCATION TO STATES, CITING $3 TRILLION OF TAXES SPENT AND POOR PROFICIENCY SCORES

The agency took another major step by partnering with the Department of the Treasury, which agreed to take over key operations related to federal student loans and collections on defaulted debt.

The student loan partnership with Treasury and the workforce initiative with DOL are part of a broader series of interagency agreements. According to Department of Education officials, the goal is to demonstrate a "proof of concept" to Congress that essential federal education functions and funding flows can be successfully reallocated across executive branch agencies without disruption.

"I call it my proof of concept to show Congress that it works, that the money still gets to schools and to students where they need it," McMahon told Fox News Digital.

"Some of the programs in the Department of Education were being duplicated in other agencies or handled better elsewhere," McMahon added. "So, let's be efficient. Let's make sure the money gets where it needs to go, let's measure that by student outcomes and let's hold teachers and administrators accountable for what they're doing."

Andrew Gillen, a higher education policy research fellow at the Cato Institute, told Fox News Digital that shifting major core duties like student loans and formula grants marks a substantial change from previous interagency agreements, which historically focused on minor administrative support.

McMahon previously argued during the government shutdown that the ED acts primarily as a pass-through entity for federal money, contending that its day-to-day functions are nonessential.

"Congress appropriates the funds. The funds come through the Department of Education, and some of that funding still goes to other agencies to get to students and schools," McMahon told Fox News Digital.

"Primarily, the money was passed through the Department of Education to then get to the states and local authorities for education."

ED announced earlier this year that the agency moved out of the Lyndon B. Johnson Department of Education building so the Department of Energy could move in by August. The move is what the officials call "a prudent step to save hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars and further reduce the federal education bureaucracy."

The Trump administration is also seeking to reduce the department's footprint by returning more power to the states.

The ED launched a new process allowing states to seek greater flexibility in using federal education funds and reducing administrative burdens. Iowa became the first state to participate in the effort.

The Department of Education sent states a letter in July 2025 encouraging them to apply for the waiver, which would give state education officials more discretion over federal dollars and reduce compliance costs.

Vanessa Trump revealed she is now cancer-free after battling breast cancer, sharing the emotional health update in a new video with her daughter, Kai Trump, months after publicly announcing her diagnosis.

The 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump shared a preview of the conversation on Instagram during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, revealing that her mother, who's the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., was diagnosed in April.

"And my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, so we thought we'd share her story and how she was diagnosed, how she overcame it," Kai said in the video.

KAI TRUMP REVEALS HOW FAMILY RALLIED AROUND MOM VANESSA AMID BREAST CANCER BATTLE: ‘IT’S A LONG JOURNEY’

To finish the social clip, Vanessa shared the news that she is now cancer-free.

"And it came back clear, so I'm finally cancer-free," Vanessa said.

The video also features former Fox News medical contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier, who discusses the importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection.

"It feels different for everyone," Saphier said. "The reason I like social media talking about breast cancer is because it's reminding people that it is common."

In her Instagram caption, Kai said she sat down with her mother and Saphier to discuss Vanessa's cancer journey, prevention and early detection. She also announced that the full conversation would be released on YouTube the following day.

Vanessa, the mother of five, first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in May.

"I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer," Vanessa wrote at the time. "While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan."

She revealed that doctors had performed a procedure earlier that week and thanked her family for their support.

In June, Vanessa said she was recovering from surgery and preparing to begin the second stage of treatment, Fox News Digital reported.

Kai Trump later opened up about the emotional experience in an August interview with Fox News Digital, shortly after beginning her freshman year at the University of Miami.

"There was definitely, there was a lot of crying in, like, the week leading up," she said of the days before leaving for college. "We would just be driving, and then we'd just start crying together."

At the time, she said her mother was improving after treatment.

"My mom, she's doing a lot better," she said. "Kind of after treatment, she wasn't feeling very good. Just like how treatment will make you feel … but she's getting a lot better now."

Kai described the extra time she spent with her mother over the summer as a "blessing in disguise."

"I was able to spend extra time with her that I would normally probably spend on the golf course," Kai said. "It was nice to spend those extra hours with her throughout the day before going to college."

Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair was reportedly rushed to a Florida hospital after falling outside a bar.

According to TMZ, Flair was at a Tampa bar when he walked outside and fell, injuring his face and possibly suffering a concussion.

TMZ says Flair cut his head and eye, which was bleeding, and was loaded into an ambulance.

The reported fall came hours after Flair announced that he would be unable to attend a scheduled appearance in Seattle due to a blood clot in his leg.

"My Doctors Have Limited My Travel To 3–4 Hours. Seattle Falls Outside That Range, And As Disappointed As I Am, I Have To Put My Health And Recovery First. Blood Clots Are Extremely Serious And Can Be Life-Threatening," Flair said on X. "We Have Seen This Recently With Jalen Hurts And The Complications Involving Blood Clots In His Lungs. It Is A Reminder That This Is Not Something To Take Lightly, And I Must Follow Medical Advice."

Flair said he is slated to have surgery on the affected vein, "[w]hich My Doctors Expect Will Allow Me To Be Cleared For More Travel Afterward."

"Please Know This Decision Was Not Made Lightly. I Am Truly Sorry For The Inconvenience And Disappointment, And I Am Incredibly Grateful For Your Patience, Understanding, And Continued Support. Tampa Fire Rescue told OutKick and Fox News Digital that it responded to a fall outside the establishment, and an adult male was taken to a local hospital — the department did not name Flair, saying they could not "provide any patient particulars due to HIPPA guidelines."

Flair, 77, has battled health and alcohol issues over the years.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Cubans seeking political change Friday to discreetly cooperate with the CIA as President Donald Trump separately floated sending Rubio to the communist-run island to negotiate a deal.

"To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time," Rubio wrote in a post on X.

"The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA."

President Donald Trump is skeptical about the National Football League continuing to hold its first-ever game in Paris amid protests.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are still set to kick off Sunday despite the civil unrest and a Paris Saint-Germain soccer game the same day being postponed.

Paris police requested a postponement of the PSG game because police and security resources are stretched thin due to mass protests, ongoing civil unrest and France's first NFL game happening in the region, per multiple reports.

The NFL said in a reply to an email from OutKick and Fox News Digital that the PSG game did not impact any potential decision to move the Steelers-Saints game. However, Trump said the NFL "could've probably postponed that match."

"It's looking like tomorrow is going to be a bad day in France, so you worry about it. I would've said the NFL could've probably postponed that match... France is really in trouble," Trump told reporters on Friday.

Trump then took a shot at Democratic policies.

"That's what happens when you go left. That's what happens when you allow unlimited numbers of people into your country from very unfriendly countries."

The NFL has insisted multiple times this week that Sunday's game in France will be safe to play and safe for fans to attend amid civil unrest. However, the Steelers canceled a fan event in the area.

According to a league source, the topics discussed at the two-hour gathering included security for the game, the readiness of the Stade de France, where the game is to be played and the growth of flag football in France.

Organizers of the Paris protest told the Associated Press that an administrative court overturned a protest ban issued by police after they challenged it. The Paris prefecture previously said the ban was necessary, given the risk of street violence after groups of masked youth clashed with officers, looted shops and torched cars over the weekend.

The organizers signed a police document stating that the protest would remain stationary due to the risk of violence.

The NFL on Thursday told OutKick that its own NFL Fan House event scheduled for Friday and Saturday remains as scheduled.

"It's happening," a league spokesman said.

On Wednesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would attend the game and had spoken with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in recent days about moving forward with it.

ESPN posts propagandistic headline about Trump, LeBron and national anthem

NBA star LeBron James was shown practicing his golf swing during the playing of the United States national anthem before his 76ers debut on Tuesday. Later in the week, President Donald Trump called James' conduct a "TOTAL DISGRACE" on social media.

The story itself is quite simple. James practiced his golf swing during "The Star-Spangled Banner." Trump criticized him for it. And yet, the headline writers at ESPN apparently didn't see it quite as clearly.

According to ESPN.com on Thursday, "Trump criticizes LeBron James for not standing still during the national anthem."

Describing what James did as merely "not standing still" is an awfully charitable characterization. He wasn't shifting his feet or adjusting his uniform. He was practicing his golf swing while the national anthem played.

The framing minimizes the conduct at the center of the controversy. ESPN suggested James' behavior was innocuous and Trump's criticism was excessive.

That was the point. ESPN must feel it has an obligation to protect James. The headline writers must have also agreed James was wrong. Otherwise, there would be no reason to sanitize it as James merely failing to "stand still."

At least athletes who kneel during the anthem generally claim that they are doing so as a form of protest. James offered no such explanation. He simply sought to make a mockery of the anthem.

It also wasn't the first time. James was caught practicing his swing during the national anthem on Christmas Day last year.

There’s something cringe about a star American athlete who previously criticized NBA executive Daryl Morey for supporting Hong Kong protesters now behaving this way during the U.S. national anthem.

At this stage of his career, the NBA also has to ask how much James still benefits its brand.

James turns 42 in December. He has averaged 15 points per game through his first two games this season and, unsurprisingly at his age, is a shell of his former self.

His basketball legacy is secure. James is one of the greatest players in NBA history. But he has become a net negative through his declining play and consistently anti-American messaging.

Vance receives warm reception during Bengals visit despite negative media portrayal: source

The narrative on social media that Vice President JD Vance was ignored by multiple Cincinnati Bengals players at a recent team practice apparently does not reflect what actually unfolded that day, a source with knowledge of the visit told OutKick.

A recent video shared online showed Vance and his family outside the team's locker room on Thursday as the team walked back in. The video, that did not have clear audio of the interaction, showed Bengals tight end Drew Sample stop to shake the vice president's hand as other players walked by.

But footage obtained by OutKick portrayed a different story, including a handshake with an enthusiastic Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. The video also captured audio and appeared to show Vance chopping it up with players and other staffers.

"Seeing how the media works is actually pretty crazy. The players, staff, and Vice President Vance and his son all had a great time at practice," the source told OutKick exclusively. "All of these negative tweets and articles are completely detached from the reality of how well the visit went."

Initial reaction to the video shared on social described the interaction as Vance getting "snubbed" by the team.

"This is what TOTAL HUMILIATION looks like: JD Vance attempted to greet Cincinnati Bengals players in the locker room and got snubbed and ghosted by every single player except one," one person wrote on X.

"JD Vance walked into the Bengals locker room looking for a photo-op, and the players gave him the cold shoulder he deserves," another person wrote, adding that the team didn't want to be used for"political theater."

But the source told OutKick that Vance and his son were warmly received when visiting the facility with no planned media engagement. A photo obtained by OutKick showed the vice president and his family playing catch on the field. The source added that defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence approached the vice president and had conversation with him during the visit.

Quarterback Joe Burrow said he "did not" talk to Vance.

"He came with everybody and left with swiftness and efficiency before the end of practice, so I didn't get to," Burrow told reporters earlier this week.

Colorado high school volleyball players faced alleged benching threat amid trans athlete dispute

Two Colorado high school volleyball players were threatened with benching after discussing a transgender athlete in their program, according to a parent complaint alleging the girls were ultimately allowed to play on condition they stop discussing the issue. The school district that oversees the school, Jefferson County Schools, is currently under Title IX investigation by the U.S. Department of Education.

A screenshot of an email, obtained by OutKick, from Dakota Ridge High School's head volleyball coach to a parent says the parent's daughter would miss a match over reports of alleged bullying. The screenshot does not identify the actual words that were used.

"Over the past several days, we have received multiple reports alleging that your daughter used language toward teammates that could be characterized as bullying," the message bearing the coach's name states.

"As a result, your daughter will not be eligible to participate in today’s match."

The message says the volleyball program emphasizes character, respect and how players treat one another, describing the reported behavior as falling short of its standards. It offers to discuss the matter with the parent after the match.

Meanwhile, Tanna Donalson, whose daughter was cut from the program in August, wrote in an Oct. 6 email to district that her daughter had reported two varsity players were told they would be benched after discussing the situation among friends. Donalson said she was subsequently informed that, after the players’ parents met with the coach and the athletic director, the girls were permitted to play on condition they not discuss the issue again.

The email was seen by OutKick in a copy of a Title IX complaint Donalson submitted to the Education Department.

"[The daughter] reported that Mr. Zeman pulled three varsity volleyball players aside and told two of them they would be benched for today’s game because they had discussed this issue amongst themselves. According to the account relayed to me, four friends had been discussing privately what they had learned, and one reported the conversation to a teacher. I was further informed that, after the two players’ parents met with the athletic director and Mr. Zeman, the players were permitted to play on the condition that they not discuss the issue again," Donalson wrote.

"Please determine what was said, the basis for the proposed benching, and whether participation was conditioned on refraining from discussion of or support for our complaint."

Lindsay Datko, founder of the parent advocacy group Jeffco Kids First, also said she had reviewed emails concerning the threatened discipline.

"We have seen emails showing that girls were threatened to be benched because they were expressing their frustration in a very adolescent manner," Datko told OutKick.

But Datko added the coach backed away from the threatened benching.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT RESCINDS BIDEN TITLE IX RULE, RESTORES TRUMP-ERA REGULATIONS

Jeffco Chief Legal Counsel Julie Tolleson acknowledged Donalson’s report in an Oct. 6 email response.

"She can include these matters in her review, though we won’t be able to discuss with you any disciplinary or other action involving any other student," Tolleson wrote, referring to the district’s Title IX coordinator.

A day earlier, Tolleson had instructed Donalson to report any retaliation or harassment related to her complaint.

"District policy prohibits retaliation," she wrote.

In response to OutKick, Jeffco defended its policies and cited student privacy restrictions. Its statement did not address the alleged condition on the players’ participation or explain what remarks prompted the proposed discipline.

The school district provided the following response in full:

"We recognize that fairness in athletics, student safety, privacy, and equitable opportunities for students are important issues for our community.

"In accordance with Colorado state law (including the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act), Jeffco Public Schools is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students. Jeffco’s policies ensure that every student, regardless of gender identity or expression, has equal access to educational programs, facilities, and district-sanctioned activities.

"High School Athletics: Jeffco Public Schools operates high school athletic programs under the governing bylaws of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act.

"District Policies on Equal Educational Opportunities Jeffco Public Schools' nondiscrimination policies—including Policy AC (Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity) and related guidance—remain fully active and in effect.

"Under federal law (FERPA) and state privacy regulations, Jeffco Public Schools cannot confirm, deny, or comment on the gender identity, administrative records, or athletic participation of any individual student.

"We are navigating a complex national climate, but our local commitment remains steady: all students deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported in Jeffco Public Schools. We support and value all members of our Jeffco community, including our transgender students and staff members.

"Jeffco Public Schools is committed to cultivating environments where all students, staff, families, and members of our community are accepted, respected, and feel that their voices and perspectives are valued. While people may have differing views on Jeffco policies and the laws that inform them, we all share a responsibility to ensure our words and actions reflect care and respect for others. We ask everyone in our community to respect individual privacy and remember that real children and families are at the heart of these conversations.

"Jeffco will continue to follow all state laws and regulations with respect to our schools, athletic programs, and students’ rights. Our responsibility - and steadfast commitment - remains to serve every student and ensure that our schools are places where all students can learn, grow, and thrive."

Donalson’s own complaint centers on the roster decision that ended her daughter's junior-year school volleyball season.

Her daughter, 17, had played in the program during her freshman and sophomore years. Her mother said coaches encouraged the setter to learn right-side hitting before ultimately cutting her.

In an Aug. 13 email, the coach said the change was intended to give her daughter another opportunity to demonstrate her skills. He said other athletes showed greater consistency in setting, defense, serving, decision-making and other areas, and described the roster decisions as a collective coaching evaluation.

"She competed for a spot, other athletes ultimately demonstrated more consistency in the areas needed, and she was beat out," he wrote.

The coach is also her daughter's history teacher. Correspondence documents Donalson’s request for a different placement and the school’s offer of a teacher change for second semester. Donalson responded that she wanted to give the situation a few weeks before deciding. She explicitly told school officials she was not alleging that classroom retaliation had occurred.

Asked whether her family had experienced retaliation since speaking publicly, she said she had reported that some students made comments to her daughter, but their family had received substantially more support than opposition.

"We have received far more support than we have anything opposite of that," she said.

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights issued findings March 13 that the district violated Title IX through its policies on girls’ athletics and access to female facilities and overnight accommodations. OCR issued a notice of impending enforcement action June 26. Jeffco disputes those findings.

The district sued Education Secretary Linda McMahon and the Education Department on July 28, challenging the enforcement actions and arguing that the federal demands conflict with Colorado law and threaten its funding. That lawsuit concerns the district’s broader policies, rather than a determination about Donalson's daughter's roster decision.

Colorado voters will consider Proposition 134 on Nov. 3. The measure would require school-based teams to be designated for biological males, biological females or mixed participation, with eligibility tied to those categories and an exception allowing females to join male teams when no equivalent female team is offered.

"I am not against the trans community or any community for that matter," Donalson said when asked about the measure.

For Donalson and her daughter, she says the impact of the situation has been "deep and wide," and has jeopardized her daughter's dreams of playing in college.

"She still has those dreams, it's a little difficult to figure out how we're going to achieve them, as this is her junior year, and arguably her most important year, because that is when you start communicating with coaches," Donalson said. "And right now we have nothing to share."

She said her daughter still plans to play club volleyball and pursue college opportunities. But losing her school season has affected how she experiences the sport.

MSG uses Knicks championship rings as bait in phishing test, calls the lure 'an unfortunate mistake'

The New York Knicks found themselves in hot water late Thursday when it was reported that the organization did not give championship rings to its assistant coaches or other employees.

But the news took a turn when employees reportedly were given a phishing test email disguised as a chance to redeem their rings.

"Those who did click the link at the bottom of the message did not get to choose any jewelry; instead, they were forced to attend a mandatory cybersecurity class to help satisfy some of [owner James] Dolan’s growing cybersecurity concerns," The Athletic reported.

The team confirmed on Friday that the email was indeed a cybersecurity test.

"The company had previously sent out an email to its corporate team as a simulation of a phishing attack designed to strengthen our security against hackers. MSG was recently hacked and extorted using an employee login and password obtained through a similar phishing attack," MSG said in a statement.

The company added that "[u]sing the rings as a lure to gain employees' attention was an unfortunate mistake" and said it would be giving "more than 275 championship rings and jewelry to players, coaches, employees and other members of the Knicks family, worth more than $3.7 million, in recognition of their contributions and celebrating this achievement."

The Knicks hung their championship banner, their first since 1973, on Tuesday night in their season opener, and players received extravagant 22-carat rings that are estimated to be worth at least $100,000 each. Each ring has roughly 800 diamonds and a recreation of the world's most famous arena.

Coaches were reportedly told they would eventually receive rings but did not get them along with the players on Tuesday. Employees, however, were apparently told not to expect any.

That's when employees' hopes were raised when they got the phishing email about rings last month.

"(Employee name), this one is on the house. MSG is issuing a complimentary employee championship ring. The same jeweler, the same craftsmanship, personalized with your name. No cost to you. Fortunately, that play didn't have any impact on the game as the Bears won and covered the spread.

Irish politicians disavow ‘demeaning’ PSA warning grandparents not to hug family without asking consent

An ad released by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) in Ireland that urged grandparents to ask for consent before hugging their grandchildren sparked international controversy after it began airing last month and has since been removed.

In September, an ad from the DRCC’s We-Consent campaign went viral for showing grandparents greeting their grandchildren. One grandchild appears receptive to a hug, while the other does not. A narrator says, "Not everyone wants a hug, even from the people who love them. Awkward? Maybe. Important? Absolutely."

The ad has since been removed and criticized by politicians from multiple parties in Ireland.

The BBC reported that Irish Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan of the Fianna Fáil party, whose department funded the campaign, announced the video has been removed after discussion with the DRCC, and declared, it "does not represent the views of the Government."

"It was both inappropriate and demeaning to grandparents and has been removed by DRCC following my officials engagement with them," O'Callaghan said. Irish Sen. Gareth Scahill of the Fine Gael party blasted the video as a waste of public funds.

"What's concerning here is public money has been used to fund an ad which, at best, has been ill-thought out, and at worst is offensive and potentially damaging to our older population," Scahill said.

"The issue of consent is a very serious one, and I acknowledge the important work the Rape Crisis Centre and other agencies do every day to advocate for all victims of rape and sexual violence, including children.

"But this publicly funded social media video is a million miles off the mark."

Scahill also asked, "What's next? Will we need to sign consent forms at arrival halls in Dublin, Shannon, Knock and Cork airports this Christmas before we can greet family members?"

The DRCC told Irish broadcaster RTE in a statement, "We-Consent is a long-term campaign as part of Dublin Rape Crisis Centre's prevention work to increase the awareness and practice of consent in Ireland.

"We created three videos premised on the idea that boundaries should be respected from an early age and to respect others' boundaries too," the organization added. "We are going to remove the videos from our social media channels while we reflect on whether they are having the positive effect we want them to have."

Inez Stepman, senior policy and legal analyst at Independent Women, spoke with Fox News Digital about the controversy.

Thomas Sr. was accused of possessing child sexual abuse material by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., the Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother, according to a report published by The Sun Thursday.

Thomas Jr. allegedly found the material in Thomas Sr.'s home in Cebu, Philippines, and reported it to police and the FBI.

On Friday, Meghan responded to the allegations in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

"I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families," the statement continued.

London's Metropolitan Police said it is not investigating Thomas Markle Sr. but is conducting internal inquiries into the handling of the 2018 letter, according to The Independent.

Meghan shares Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, with Prince Harry. Her father has never met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children.

The FBI National Press Office said in a statement to Fox News Digital Friday that the bureau would assist Philippine authorities in their investigation.

"The FBI is aware of the allegations and will provide support, as appropriate, to the Philippine authorities. We will also investigate any related allegations of federal violations of U.S. law," the statement said.

According to Reuters, Philippine Justice Undersecretary Nicholas Ty confirmed on Friday that a task force investigating human trafficking and online child sexual abuse in Cebu "is currently investigating the matter."

Thomas Sr. denied the allegations to the Daily Mail.

"I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of," he told the outlet Friday.

"This is bulls---," Thomas Sr. added. "It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies."

Thomas Jr. told The Sun he found suspected child sexual abuse material in four large boxes, containing "hundreds, if not thousands" of images. He also said he found videos of young girls no older than 10 or 11 years old engaging in sexual acts.

He also told the outlet he found four images of nude girls, one of which appeared to have been taken at Thomas Sr.'s former home in Rosarito, Mexico.

"What I saw made me sick to the stomach. All this stuff was just dumped on me, and I didn’t know what to do. I knew right away it was highly illegal and would land me in jail for a long time if I didn’t get rid of it. "When I found this material, I was horrified, and I had no option but to report my dad."

Thomas Jr. said he reported the alleged child sexual abuse material to the FBI hotline and the Pennsylvania State Police. According to The Sun, the FBI "confirmed receipt" of Thomas Jr.'s allegations and is "set to launch their own probe."

The ad, shared by the progressive political group Indivisible, was part of a Hands Off Our Vote campaign to encourage efforts to protect the right to vote, which the "Focker-in-Law" actor claimed was threatened by the Trump administration.

"Voting is a constitutional right, but you have to see that this administration and the Supreme Court aren’t paying any attention to our constitutional rights," De Niro said in the video.

A non-surgical procedure that temporarily blocks extra blood vessels in the knee is offering lasting pain relief for people with knee osteoarthritis.

In a clinical study of 194 patients, 80% of them reported significant reductions in knee pain that lasted for at least a full year after receiving the treatment.

The findings highlight a potential alternative for millions of adults with chronic joint pain who have outgrown pain medications or steroid injections — but who want to avoid total knee replacement.

WEIGHT-LOSS DRUGS MAY FIGHT 7 SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS BEFORE THE POUNDS EVEN COME OFF

Osteoarthritis wears down joint cartilage and causes the body to grow unnecessary new blood vessels around the knee, according to Mayo Clinic.

These extra vessels increase inflammation and irritate surrounding nerves, making daily movement painful.

The procedure, known as genicular artery embolization (GAE), addresses this directly.

By temporarily clogging excess blood vessels, doctors can reduce inflammation and quiet pain-sensing nerves without major surgery or permanent implants.

Because the treatment uses microscopic gelatin particles that dissolve over time, it leaves no foreign material behind. If widely adopted, GAE could provide a repeatable, low-risk way for patients to stay active and preserve joint function longer, researchers say.

"For many patients with knee osteoarthritis, there is a real treatment gap today," said Florian Nima Fleckenstein, M.D., deputy head of Interventional Radiology Campus Mitte, Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, in a press release.

"Our study demonstrates that GAE using rapidly resorbable gelatin-based microspheres is a safe, minimally invasive therapy that provides meaningful pain relief and functional improvement in participants with osteoarthritis-related knee symptoms for at least 12 months."

During GAE, doctors use real-time X-ray guidance to steer a thin, flexible tube into the blood vessels surrounding the knee joint.

Then they release tiny, dissolvable gelatin particles into specific vessels to slow excess blood flow to the inflamed areas.

Across 239 total procedures performed on 194 study participants, none experienced severe complications.

Only 6.7% reported mild side effects, such as brief skin discoloration or minor bruising, issues that resolved on their own.

"In our cohort, we saw a significant drop in pain and a significant increase in function, including sports and recreation and daily activity," Fleckenstein said.

"Most importantly, their quality of life significantly increased."

In addition to feeling less pain, participants experienced gains in daily mobility. Patients reported easier walking, climbing stairs and bending, while overall quality-of-life scores more than doubled over the 12-month follow-up period.

Limitations of study

While the results are promising, researchers note several important limitations.

First, the study did not include a control group receiving a mock or placebo procedure.

Without a comparison group, it is difficult to isolate the physical benefits of the dissolvable particles from potential placebo effects, the researchers said.

Second, the study tracked patients for only one year.

Further research is needed to determine how long the pain relief typically lasts and how often repeat treatments might be required.

The procedure does not rebuild lost cartilage or reverse structural joint damage. Larger, randomized trials are currently underway to confirm these early findings.

IndyCar champ Alex Palou will get a home race as the series announces 2027 stop in Spain

While the NTT IndyCar Series regularly heads north of the border to race in the Toronto area, it’s been a minute since the series went abroad. That changes next season when it heads to Spain, the homeland of defending five-time series champion Alex Palou.

IndyCar released the second phase of its 2027 season schedule — every race of which will be broadcast on Fox for the third straight year — and the big addition was a race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on July 18.

It's a big deal because it marks the first time that IndyCar has left North America since 2013, and the first time it has held a race since 2007, which predates the Champ Car Indy Racing League merger that formed today's IndyCar Series.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been a fixture on the F1 calendar and is often used for preseason testing, though it will begin hosting races every other year. It’s also part of the MotoGP schedule.

The track should produce a solid race. In recent years in F1, it's been criticized for a lack of on-track overtaking. It flows from corner to corner, and there aren't many heavy braking zones, which are helpful for overtaking. Ironically, that is what makes it a good fit for MotoGP.

But IndyCars are not F1 cars. They're better when it comes to on-track overtakes, and I think we'll get to see some great racing all around the track.

Unfortunately, to add this race, some had to come off the schedule, and one casualty was a trip to the Nashville Superspeedway.

A suspected terrorist attack near Paris Friday added to tensions across France as the nation prepares for more potential violence Saturday.

Seventy thousand law enforcement officers, along with helicopters, armored vehicles and water cannons, will be deployed across France as President Emmanuel Macron’s government tries to ward off another weekend of violent protests.

"The strategy adopted for the coming days is to ban protests requested by individuals or groups with no legitimate authority," Macron said ahead of the weekend after canceling his planned trip to Nigeria and Senegal originally scheduled for next week.

"The rules are simple, and I think they're just common sense," Macron added. "The general recommendation is that there should be no demonstrations in the coming days."

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has since told local media, "The motive may be racist. The investigation is ongoing, but this is clearly a terrorist crime."

The AFP reported the suspect appeared to fire randomly from a vehicle, and the mayor told reporters the dead victim and at least one of the wounded were "of African origin."

Macron said "the nation is standing with" the victims of this "terrible ordeal."

Ahead of Saturday's protests and after acknowledging that police had "lost control" during last weekend's unrest, Nuñez, the interior minister, said his ministry is "ready for tomorrow. We will be extremely vigilant, extremely firm, and we will let absolutely nothing pass."

Reuters reports that the Union Nationale des Étudiants de France, or UNEF, one of the nation’s oldest student unions, has said its planned rallies will go on as scheduled despite police rejecting their permit requests. Police have so far only approved a union demonstration in Paris, Reuters reported, while denying requests from UNEF and the "Yellow Vest" movement, an anti-establishment force that first emerged in 2018.

Macron also took aim at those he says are behind the violence, saying, "Last Saturday, we had political and seditious acts by ultra-left groups whose aim is to bring down the Republic."

Earlier this week, Fabian Vanhemelryck, secretary general of the Alliance Police Nationale union, said political figures deserved blame because of "those who excuse the inexcusable, justify violence and prefer to overwrite police officers rather than condemn those who attack them."

He also said the "state that abandons its police officers in the face of increasingly uninhibited violence, while demanding that they accept, remain(s) silent and continue(s) to hold the line."

Major French institutions, like the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, will be closed in anticipation of Saturday’s planned protests, and 24 Metro stations across Paris will be closed. A Ligue 1 soccer match between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, scheduled for Sunday night at Parc des Princes in the capital, has also been postponed to Monday evening.

The NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints, scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Stade de France just north of central Paris, is still set to be played as scheduled, yet some weekend events around the game have been canceled.

The Stade de France is the same stadium that hosted an international soccer match between France and neighboring Germany during the Nov. 13, 2015 terror attacks.

Explosions were heard outside the stadium during the game that night, with then-French President François Hollande in attendance. Fans were held inside the stadium for hours while authorities dealt with the attacks unfolding around Paris that night.
