Donald Trump accuses 'fake news' of wanting US to lose Iran war, blasts NYT reporting

President cites 301% inflation in Iran while blasting New York Times for favorable Tehran coverage

President Donald Trump accused the "fake news" media of wanting the United States to lose its war with Iran during a Monday interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, as he defended the military campaign and threatened another wave of strikes against Tehran.

Trump argued that Iran's military had been decimated but continued to receive favorable news coverage.

"All they do is talk and they have fake press. They do very well with the fake press, but because the fake news wants us to lose," Trump said.

TRUMP HAS IRAN ON THE ROPES — AND CRITICS STILL DON’T GET HIS EDGE

The president singled out The New York Times while claiming the newspaper had recently reported that Iran was in a stronger position than it had been before the U.S.-Israeli military campaign began.

"It’s not even, I mean, The New York Times, they actually said a week ago — I can’t imagine they say it now, but think of it. They have no Navy, have no Air Force, have no anything. They have no military, they have nothing," Trump said.

He also cited what he described as surging inflation in Iran while continuing his criticism of the Times.

TRUMP’S 'ECONOMIC FURY' SQUEEZES IRAN — BUT CAN TEHRAN OUTLAST THE PRESSURE?

"And the Times said, and their inflation, by the way, just hit 301%, from 5%. They said, ‘Oh, they’re in better shape now than they were four months ago before I started,’" Trump said.

Trump did not identify the specific Times article or author he was referencing.

The president warned that additional American attacks were imminent following renewed exchanges of missile and drone strikes between the two countries.

"We’re going to hit them very hard tonight, and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow, and there’s not a damn thing they can do about it," Trump said.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

Trump specifically floated striking Pickaxe Mountain, a heavily fortified underground complex near Iran’s damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility.

"Pickaxe is a possible, you know, a possible target for a nice big fat shot right near the front door," he said.

The president said American surveillance capabilities were tracking the location and claimed Iran had not resumed nuclear development there.

"We’re watching it closely. We see no activity there. They’re not doing well with their nuclear. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up, so they don't like talking about it, but we'll probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon," Trump said.

Pickaxe Mountain contains two deeply buried tunnel complexes that experts assess may be beyond the reach of the powerful bunker-busting bombs in the U.S. arsenal, according to Reuters.

International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors had never been granted access to Pickaxe Mountain. Analysis of satellite imagery from late June showed vehicle activity near the site's western tunnel entrances and possible continuing construction or fortification work.

Trump also argued that Iran’s leaders could not be trusted with nuclear weapons.

"And frankly, if they ever had a nuclear weapon, they’d use it within one day," Trump said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Trump’s remarks came as U.S. Central Command announced that it would resume its blockade of vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports Tuesday. The military said humanitarian shipments would be allowed through but warned that force could be used against ships that failed to comply.

Bryce Harper blames FanDuel for Cameo controversy after reading sportsbook's name on camera

Harper's Thanksgiving message to VIP bettor Terry Thompson explicitly referenced a FanDuel host, complicating his defense

Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper is scrambling to explain his role in Major League Baseball's latest sports betting controversy.

Harper finally broke his silence over a controversial Cameo video he recorded in November 2024 for gambler Terry Thompson.

Harper says he believed he was recording a holiday greeting.

Instead, the message landed in the middle of a lawsuit alleging FanDuel targeted Thompson, who wagered $18.5 million with sportsbooks and lost more than $1.5 million on the platform alone.

Thompson's lawsuit against FanDuel and several other defendants has now dragged Harper into the middle of the controversy.

FANDUEL, BRYCE HARPER VIDEO TO LOSING GAMBLER REINFORCES THE GREED OF THE MLB, SPORTSBOOKS AND THE UNION

Facing intense public scrutiny, Harper released a statement on his Instagram Stories and attempted to distance himself from FanDuel.

"I joined Cameo to engage with fans through paid personalized videos," Harper wrote. "What happened here went beyond anything I knew about or approved."

BRYCE HARPER VIDEO TO FANDUEL USER WITH GAMBLING ADDICTION UNDER REVIEW BY PENNSYLVANIA OFFICIALS

Harper claimed he received what appeared to be a personal request, rather than a corporate business order, to wish "Terry" a happy Thanksgiving.

"FanDuel then put its own logo on the video and used it as a gambling promotion," Harper wrote. "I did not know FanDuel would do this, I did not consent to it, and FanDuel had no right to do it."

There is a glaring problem with Harper's explanation.

The instructions he received, and the exact script he read on camera, explicitly mentioned the sportsbook.

In the footage, Harper looks into the lens and tells Thompson he is reaching out because "your host Bryttanni from FanDuel" wanted to ensure he had an extra-special holiday.

It is difficult to claim complete ignorance when you actively read the words "from FanDuel" out loud.

Harper said he read the script "in good faith."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

But for a superstar like Harper, reading a sportsbook's name in a paid video without asking a single question is a tough look.

Now, attention turns to whether Major League Baseball takes a closer look.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is already investigating FanDuel's use of celebrity messages to target high-roller VIP bettors.

Whether Major League Baseball believes Harper crossed any line remains to be seen. While Harper did not bet on baseball, the situation is likely to draw attention because it involves a promotional message tied to a sportsbook.

Fox News Digital/OutKick reached out to FanDuel, the Phillies and Harper's rep for comment.

At best, Harper was incredibly naive.

He failed to recognize that a script referencing a "FanDuel host" amounted to a gambling promotion.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

At worst, he accepted a paid request without asking enough questions and is now backtracking after the ugly reality of sports betting addiction landed in the spotlight.

Either way, it is a bad look for one of baseball's biggest stars. Next time, Harper might want to read the fine print before hitting record.

Send us your thoughts: alejandro.avila@outkick.com / Follow along on X: @alejandroaveela

FIFA eyes World Cup format expansion from 48 to 64 teams: Should the US be the permanent host?

FIFA's president confirmed expansion to 64 teams will go to committee review, with the US the most viable host

After widespread complaints and consternation around the 2026 FIFA World Cup from European fans, commentators, and certain domestic sportswriters, there's no question that this year's tournament has been a gigantic, tremendous success.

The group stage alone set an attendance record for any World Cup, as fans from around the world traveled to the United States to see their teams play. Local fans turned out in full force as well, with neutral fans spending gigantic sums of money on tickets just to see the top level of international soccer.

Ratings have been massive, with the U.S. men's national team breaking records for most-watched English-language soccer broadcast during their loss to Belgium.

USA-BELGIUM BECOMES MOST-WATCHED SOCCER TELECAST IN US HISTORY WITH STAGGERING VIEWERSHIP NUMBERS

One of the changes to the format in 2026 was the expansion to 48 teams from the traditional 32. While many purists were skeptical, for the most part, it's been viewed as a success. Though it limits the likelihood of a major tournament favorite going out in the Group Stage, it's allowed smaller countries to participate and in some cases, become surprising fan-favorites. Cape Verde, for example, not only advanced past the first round, but pushed Argentina to the brink.

And FIFA, an organization never shy about looking to enhance its financial picture, wants to take advantage. Gianni Infantino, FIFA's president, acknowledged that discussions will start immediately about future expansion.

"This is certainly an issue that will be looked at and discussed in the relevant committees after this World Cup," he told Swiss broadcaster Blue Sport when asked about reports of a 64-team format. "When you organize a World Cup, it's important that you organize it for the whole world. It's not just Europe and South America, but the entire world, effectively. Every nation should be able to dream of taking part in the World Cup.

"We can see that the quality of the teams is extremely high, and it's getting higher and higher everywhere in the world. If you don't give smaller countries the chance to participate in the World Cup, they also lose the incentive to keep improving."

That makes some sense, both competitively and financially. More teams means more games. More games means more broadcasts, higher fees, and more fans buying tickets. But Infantino is also correct that, for soccer's international governing body, encouraging more participation and investment is important and valuable.

That said, there are two other major issues that arise from a 64-team format. The years-long qualifying format will become a bit of a farce, as virtually every big country would now qualify easily. And, for those same angry Europeans, how many countries have the number of venues necessary to hold a 64-team tournament in just over a month?

DEMOCRATS REPORTEDLY FORCED TO 'GRAPPLE UNCOMFORTABLY' WITH WORLD CUP SUCCESS UNDER DONALD TRUMP

The answer? Well, it's pretty much just the United States. A World Cup that large could have 128 matches, if FIFA continues with a 32-team second round. And if they want to keep the current length, a necessity given the club season schedule, that's 128 matches over just 38 days. FIFA used 16 venues to host the current 104 match tournament. Expansion would likely mean another four stadiums, pushing it to 20.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

The United Kingdom has 11 stadiums with a capacity of more than 60,000 seats. Spain has just five, with one just over 60k. Germany has four, while Italy and France have just two each. So you'd have to combine the UK, Spain and Germany to reach 20 large venues.

The US, meanwhile, has roughly 75 stadiums with a 60,000 seat capacity. It has the advantage of being one country, minimizing travel hassles between the UK and continental Europe. And with that many large, modern stadiums that don't require significant updates, FIFA can sell the most tickets while minimizing costs to the host nation.

OUTKICK IS NOW ON THE FOX APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

So should the US become the permanent World Cup site? Other countries and federations would surely object, but the story of the 2026 event has been that America and its people have been fantastic hosts to visiting fans. Maybe the USMNT's missed opportunity in a home tournament won't be as big of a frustration as it seemed.

PORTLAND, Maine - Some of the leading contenders in the race to replace ex-candidate Graham Platner as the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine are amplifying calls to abolish ICE after a fatal shooting by federal immigration officers in the northern New England state.

Hours after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Monday shot and killed a man in Biddeford, which is located about 15 miles southwest of Portland, four of the candidates joined hundreds of protesters who marched by the shooting site.

The shooting comes as the battle to replace Platner is heating up, and will likely boost immigration as an issue in a crucial Senate race that may determine the Senate majority.

"I think we are at the point where ICE needs to be abolished," Nirav Shah, the former director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told Fox News Digital. "ICE in its current form has shown itself incapable of doing its job."

PLATNER EXITS SENATE RACE AMID SCANDALS AND CHORUS OF CALLS TO DROP OUT

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, speaking with reporters, said, "This is not acceptable in America. A young man, a dad, has been killed by ICE...This must stop. We need to get ICE out of the streets."

Troy Jackson, a former state Senate president, took to social media immediately after the shooting to write, "Abolish ICE."

Jackson held a sign at the protest that called for abolishing ICE, and reiterated that he's been calling for the dismantling of the agency for months.

Paige Loud, a social worker and former congressional candidate who has also launched a Senate bid, also attended the protest.

"We must abolish ICE and prosecute the leaders of these operations that are destroying communities," she said in a social media post.

The incident in Maine is the second in a week where ICE agents have used deadly force, following the fatal shooting during a traffic stop in Houston, Texas.

DEMOCRACY ’26: STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE FOX NEWS ELECTION HUB

The latest incidents are reigniting protests and scrutiny of federal agents months after the shooting deaths in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the beginning of the year of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Those shootings drew weeks of national coverage and sharp debate over President Donald Trump's ramped-up deportation efforts amid his administration's crackdown on illegal immigration.

The Maine attorney general's office, which is investigating Monday's shooting along with the FBI, said initial statements suggest the motorist who was the target of the enforcement operation was attempting to flee in the direction of an ICE agent.

SIGN UP TO GET THE POLITICS NEWSLETTER

Two immigration advocacy groups said the man who was killed was authorized to work in the U.S. and had a Social Security number.

The shooting in Maine came three days after Platner ended his campaign amid mounting controversies and allegations of sexual misconduct that he had repeatedly denied, and a chorus of calls from top Democrats in Maine, the nation's capital, and across the country to drop out of the race immediately.

A populist Democrat who was backed last September by progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders, Platner was challenging longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins in a high-profile, combustible and expensive race in Maine, which is one of a handful that will determine if the GOP holds onto its slim Senate majority in November's midterm elections.

Seven Democrats have filed to run for the nomination, which will be determined by roughly 600 voting delegates at a July 25 convention held by the Maine Democratic Party.

Collins said in a statement following the shooting that "a full and impartial investigation of what happened" was needed.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Hours later, Collins said in another statement that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin "informed me that the Boston office of the DHS Inspector General has taken over the investigation of the Biddeford shooting in cooperation with the FBI."

One of Collins' Senate offices is located in Biddeford, and protesters marched to the office to chant, "Vote her out."

Maine ICE shooting victim was not target of arrest warrant, Sen. King’s office says after earlier DHS account

King said Mullin 'corrected the information he had'

A man fatally shot by an ICE agent in Maine on Monday was not the intended target of the arrest warrant federal agents were executing, Sen. Angus King’s office said, marking a shift from what the senator had told reporters hours earlier after speaking with Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

In an interview with Fox News, King, I-Maine, confirmed that Mullin later informed the senator the "victim was not the target of the warrant."

"When I first talked to him, he said the person was the target of the warrant. He called me back. He initiated a call to me to say he had learned subsequently that he was not the target of the warrant," King said. "So he corrected the information he had."

King had said earlier Monday afternoon that Mullin told him the man who was killed in Biddeford, a coastal city roughly 15 miles southwest of Portland, was the target of an immigration enforcement operation and had been ordered to leave the country.

ICE SAYS OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WHO TRIED TO RAM HIM WITH CAR IN HOUSTON

"About 20 minutes ago, I talked to Secretary Markwayne [Mullin] of the Department of Homeland Security about the incident in Biddeford," King told reporters Monday afternoon.

"The individual who has been killed is a male in his 20s. That's all I know about him," King continued. "He had been given an order to leave the country. He was in a vehicle – pulled out in the vehicle, and the term the secretary used was ‘weaponized’ the vehicle and was shot by an ICE agent."

King said at the time that, based on what Mullin had told him, the man who was shot was the target of the immigration enforcement operation.

"He had given me incorrect information," King told Fox News. "Once he learned it was incorrect, he let me know which I respect."

In a statement to Fox News Digital, an ICE spokesperson said that agents were conducting "targeted surveillance on the last known address of an illegal alien with a final order of removal."

"An illegal alien departed the residence in a vehicle. ICE law enforcement attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene and fearing for public safety an officer discharged his weapon," they said. "The driver of the vehicle was struck, and emergency services were immediately contacted. He passed away from his injuries."

"The Biddeford Police Department and FBI responded to the scene," the spokesperson continued. "DHS OIG has been notified and like all discharge of firearms this will be investigated. This is a developing situation, and we will update the public when more information is available."

Earlier on Monday, King said in a press conference that he pressed Mullin for a "full, transparent and open investigation" into the fatal shooting, which he said would be led by the FBI because it involved a federal operation.

"What I said to the Secretary was, we want a full, transparent and open investigation of this matter," King said. "And one of the problems is apparently – and again, everything I'm saying is what I know now, certain facts may come out – but apparently there are no cameras. Body cameras were not on the agents. So we have no video evidence of what occurred in this case."

NEW YORKER SUING ICE AFTER OFFICERS WENT TO HIS HOME TO WARN HIM OVER CRITICISM OF AGENCY

King said Mullin committed to him that the investigation would be fair and transparent.

"It's a tragedy whenever there's a loss of life. We don't know the circumstances at this point, but my statement to Secretary [Mullin], I said, ‘I'm going to say that you have committed to me that this investigation will be full, fair and transparent. Can I say that?' He said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ So that's the status of this matter right now."

King said he intends to monitor the investigation closely.

ILLEGAL ALIEN ON THE RUN AFTER ALLEGEDLY RAMMING ICE VEHICLE IN PENNSYLVANIA, PROMPTING AGENT TO FIRE WEAPON

"And that's why I was so explicit with the secretary. I know him from working with him in the Senate before he became secretary. I have no reason to think that he's not telling me the truth. But my motto, as with Ronald Reagan, is trust but verify," King said. "And I intend to stay on this. And to be sure that we can verify what happened and also whether the investigation is proceeding in a full, comprehensive and transparent way."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE U.S. NEWS

King said investigators must determine whether the man’s actions with the vehicle justified the use of deadly force.

"And the question is, what did he do with his vehicle? Were officers threatened? Was this were the threats rising to the level that justified deadly force? That's what this investigation is all about," King said. "And I certainly intend to, stay after it, to do everything I can to be sure the investigation is as transparent and thorough as possible, and that our state and local officials aren't frozen out from the involvement with this project, with this investigation."

Following the incident, protesters rallied outside of Sen. Susan Collins’, R-Maine, office and entered through the front doors, chanting "vote her out." Several people were also seen hanging anti-ICE signs in the windows.

King said the community had a right to demand answers.

"I think the community has every right to ask questions and to bring pressure to bear on, on the federal government for straight answers and honest answers," King said. "And whatever evidence there is should be made public and should be made public soon. And, I think the role of the community is to express concern."

"We don't yet really know what happened, but to ensure that we find out what happened and that if there were actions that were unjustified, that those who committed those actions will be held accountable," he added.

GET BREAKING NEWS ALERTS

SEND US A TIP

In a statement, Collins said the FBI is investigating.

"The shooting in Biddeford requires a full and impartial investigation of what happened," Collins said.

Gov. Janet Mills, D-Maine, said in a statement that she had been briefed on the fatal incident "involving Federal law enforcement." She added that state police were cooperating with local and federal officials.

The Biddeford Police Department said it responded to calls about an occurrence at Pool and Hill streets that "involved U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel."

GOT A TIP?

The Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition and Presente! We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and everyone now grieving this unimaginable loss," the groups said in a joint statement.

"A 26-year-old man came to Maine to live and work, and now his family is mourning his death following an incident involving ICE," the statement continued. "This is devastating, enraging, and unacceptable. His loved ones deserve answers, and the public deserves a full and transparent account of what happened."

Fox News Digital has reached out to Sen. King's office and the FBI for additional details.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Trump-backed Daylight Saving Time bill clears key House hurdle

Trump supports the effort, which cleared House Rules Committee 6-4 and would let states lock in year-round Daylight Saving Time

A bipartisan push to make Daylight Saving Time permanent is heading for a chamber-wide vote after clearing a key House hurdle.

The House Rules Committee on Monday teed up a floor vote on the Sunshine Protection Act, which would allow states to enact Daylight Saving Time year-round — with an option to opt out. The committee approved the rule in a 6-4 vote.

The measure has the support of many coastal lawmakers and President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly urged Congress to make Daylight Saving Time permanent and end the twice-a-year ritual of changing clocks — a practice currently observed by every state except Hawaii and most of Arizona.

Proponents argue that resetting clocks has negative health impacts, while permanent Daylight Saving Time would boost outdoor recreation, tourism and economic activity, among other benefits.

CONGRESS EYES RARE BIPARTISAN HOUSING WIN WITH OR WITHOUT TRUMP'S HELP

Most Americans already set their clocks forward one hour each spring to preserve more evening daylight before "falling back" one hour in November.

"Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of this policy and want to end the practice of ‘springing forward’ and ‘falling back.' Locking the clock all year long would have positive impacts on sleep schedules, energy conservation, motor vehicle safety, and our economy," Chairman Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., said in an opening statement Monday.

"In practice, this change would mean more time for people to exercise outside, visit family, attend concerts and sporting events, attract customers to their retail businesses, and more."

"Floridians and Americans across the country are tired of the biannual time change, and the evidence is clear that permanent daylight saving time can improve public health, reduce traffic accidents, lower crime and encourage more outdoor activity," Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., who authored the measure, previously said in a May news release.

"Ending the clock change is a commonsense reform that will improve everyday life for millions of Americans," he added.

The legislation’s momentum comes after the House Energy and Commerce Committee overwhelmingly passed the measure 48-1 in May.

"It’s time that people can stop worrying about the ‘Clock,’ not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice-yearly production," Trump wrote following the Sunshine Protection Act’s advancement out of committee. "It will also be a very nice WIN for the Republican Party. Take it! We are going with the far more popular alternative, Saving Daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter Day — And who can be against that — This is an easy one!"

SLEEP DOCTOR REVEALS THE BRUTAL HEALTH DOWNSIDE OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

Roughly 20 states have already passed legislation that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent if Congress were to authorize the practice. Alabama, South Carolina, Oregon, Maine and Florida are among those places.

But opponents, including several medical organizations, argue that permanent standard time — which provides more sunlight in the morning — would be the healthier option because it would more closely align with the body’s natural circadian rhythms.

Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-Pa., proposed amending the bill with language from her co-sponsored Sunshine for Our Kids Act, which would make standard time permanent nationwide. The amendment was quickly rejected.

Scanlon argued that permanent daylight saving time would pose significant health and safety risks by leaving more Americans — particularly children — in darkness during morning hours. She also pointed to the nation's brief experiment with year-round daylight saving time in 1974, which Congress abandoned after widespread public backlash.

Rep. Nanette Barragán, D-Calif., was also the lone lawmaker to oppose the legislation during the Energy and Commerce Committee markup in May, citing concerns that year-round daylight saving time could negatively affect children’s health and sleep schedules.

Some conservative lawmakers have also argued that GOP leadership should be focused on what they describe as more pressing legislative issues, including legislation codifying Trump's border security executive orders and the stalled SAVE America Act.

"Republicans are majoring in the minors — fiddling with the clocks while the country burns," Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, wrote Monday.

The House has already passed versions of the SAVE America Act multiple times, but the measure has struggled to overcome the Senate's legislative filibuster.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The Senate unanimously passed a version of the Sunshine Protection Act in 2022, but it died in the House amid opposition, including from lawmakers who voiced concerns about darker morning hours in parts of the country during the winter.

Jennifer Lopez's bold Wimbledon hat divides fans over Royal Box etiquette

Lopez sat beside Tom Hiddleston in the Royal Box before removing the Ralph Lauren hat during the match

Jennifer Lopez made a bold style statement with an oversized hat at Wimbledon over the weekend, but her attention-grabbing accessory sparked controversy on social media.

The 56-year-old actress and singer faced backlash after wearing a large, wide-brimmed Ralph Lauren hat while attending the Wimbledon men's singles final at the All England Club’s Centre Court in London on Sunday.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their disapproval of Lopez's headgear after spotting her sitting in the Royal Box next to Tom Hiddleston at the tennis tournament.

BEN AFFLECK SETS RECORD STRAIGHT ABOUT JENNIFER LOPEZ SPLIT, PRAISES 'WONDERFUL' JENNIFER GARNER

"That’s obnoxious," one X user wrote. "She needs 2 extra seats just for the hat."

"This type of hat is inappropriate for such events! You should do your homework lady!" another critic commented.

"Just so you know, with that hat, guests that paid a lot of money to be right there, can’t watch because you like to look good for Instagram," one social media user added.

"Ridiculous hat," another chimed in. "If I was sitting behind her words would be had."

"Imagine being sat behind that hat. You couldn’t see anything. Should be a rule against that," one detractor wrote.

"Jenny from the Block, blocking views," an X user joked.

KATE MIDDLETON WEARS PRINCESS DIANA'S PEARL BRACELET AT TROOPING THE COLOUR AS CHARLOTTE MIRRORS HER MOTHER

"Love the outfit just not the hat for this kind of event," a fan wrote. "First, it looks a bit like a crumpled paper bag. Maybe the Kentucky Derby because it's a hat show. But tennis matches are conservative, crisp, & clean so the attire should match the sport. You have great hair. Work it."

However, some fans defended "The Wedding Planner" star's courtside look, with many noting that Lopez later removed the hat while enjoying the match with Hiddleston.

"She took the hat off. People leave this woman alone," one fan wrote on social media.

Other fans praised the actress's appearance, including the statement-making accessory.

"Big hat energy," a fan wrote on X. "JLo looks absolutely adorable!"

JANNIK SINNER TOPS ALEXANDER ZVEREV IN FOUR SETS TO DEFEND HIS WIMBLEDON CROWN AGAIN IN LONDON

"Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes," another agreed.

"She looks stunning in a hat," one X user wrote.

"Love her, she looks amazing as usual," another fan commented. "What an elegant lady."

"JLo & Tom Hiddleston already living their best tennis life," an X user wrote. "Pure elegance in the stands!"

Fox News Digital has reached out to Lopez's representative for comment.

While hats are not prohibited in Wimbledon's invitation-only Royal Box, guests are generally expected to remove large or wide-brimmed hats while seated if they block others' sightlines.

Per Wimbledon's website, "Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them."

However, Wimbledon reportedly eased its usual hat etiquette amid soaring temperatures as the United Kingdom grapples with its third heatwave of the summer and even provided official fedoras to guests.

Along with Lopez and Hiddleston, other celebrity guests seated in the Royal Box for the men's final included Nicole Kidman, Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Anna Wintour and Ben Stiller. Royals in attendance included Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Jannik Sinner of Italy, who is ranked No.1 in the world, defeated German player Alexander Zverev in four sets to capture his second straight Wimbledon title.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Middleton, 44, who serves as royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, presented trophies to both Sinner and Linda Nosková of the Czech Republic, who won the women's singles final on Saturday.

The Princess of Wales was also spotted wearing a wide-brimmed hat at the tournament over the weekend, though she mostly removed it while seated and when presenting the Wimbledon trophies.

Newsom blasted by sheriff in his own backyard over California crime as victims cry foul

Cooper argues Prop 36 is starved of funding while mental health diversion expansions undermine voter-approved reforms

Gov. Gavin Newsom is taking fire from an unlikely critic in his own political backyard.

With roughly a month left for California lawmakers to send legislation to the governor's desk, Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper is accusing Sacramento of putting criminals ahead of victims, failing to fully implement voter-approved crime reforms and embracing policies that weaken accountability.

Cooper unloaded on California's crime policies during a recent interview with KCRA 3's California Politics 360, where he argued California leaders have not done enough to address crime despite voters demanding tougher consequences for repeat offenders.

NEW YORK BILLS COULD ABOLISH LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE FOR SERIAL KILLERS AND COP KILLERS, CRITICS WARN

When asked how he would grade Newsom and the Legislature's response to crime, Cooper didn't hesitate.

"Not enough. Not enough," Cooper said. "It's just frustrating that people are hesitant to do anything."

🚨 Know something we should investigate?

📩 stepheny.price@fox.com

📸 IG: @fndstephprice

🎥 X: @StephenyPrice

Your tip could lead to our next story.

Although California recently announced its lowest homicide rate in nearly six decades, Cooper argued the numbers don't tell the whole story, saying victims continue to pay the price for policies that emphasize diversion and early release over accountability.

DC POLICE OFFICIALS FACE TERMINATION AFTER FEDERAL PROBE UNCOVERS ALLEGED MANIPULATED CRIME DATA BY DEPARTMENT

A major focus of Cooper's criticism was Proposition 36, the voter-approved initiative that passed in 2024 with nearly 70% support statewide and in all 58 counties.

The measure increased penalties for repeat retail theft and certain drug crimes while allowing eligible offenders to have felony charges dismissed after completing court-ordered treatment.

"Not one statewide official supported it. And that's troubling," Cooper said during the interview.

REPORTER'S NOTEBOOK: CHICAGO COP KILLED AFTER SUSPECT RELEASED UNDER SAFE-T ACT

While Cooper said the law is already showing results, pointing to retailers reporting declines in theft, he argued Sacramento has failed to provide the funding needed to make the initiative successful.

"The issue is no funding, no funding came with it," he said. "It is working. But without funding, it doesn't go anywhere."

State leaders have said this year's budget includes $375 million to help implement Proposition 36, though KCRA reported budget documents show $50 million is specifically directed toward Proposition 36-related court and pretrial services.

FOLLOW US ON X

Cooper also blasted California's expanding mental health diversion system, warning proposals to make more theft offenses eligible for diversion would undermine the very initiative voters overwhelmingly approved.

"It would water it down," Cooper said, adding that some lawmakers "don't want anybody held accountable."

Gov. Newsom's office pushed back on Cooper's criticism, arguing California's crime trends tell a different story.

"We will stick to real results, not headlines," a spokesperson for the governor's office told Fox News Digital. "Why don't you ask Jim Cooper why we've made so much progress lowering crime rates in California."

The spokesperson also pointed to Assembly Bill 46, legislation Newsom recently signed that tightens oversight of California's mental health diversion program. According to the governor's office, the measure was supported by Cooper, despite his broader criticism of the state's diversion policies.

Cooper acknowledged during his interview with KCRA 3 that lawmakers and the governor recently approved changes adding new guardrails to mental health diversion. However, he argued the reforms still fall short.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE U.S. NEWS

"Some crimes are so shocking ... you shouldn't be eligible for mental health diversion," he said, pointing to offenses including felony child abuse and crimes involving sexually violent predators.

The sheriff also renewed his criticism of California's domestic violence laws, arguing the state still refuses to classify many felony domestic violence offenses as violent felonies despite the devastating injuries suffered by victims.

"Domestic violence goes on every day. Doesn't matter if you're rich or poor. Happens in every neighborhood. We have to treat it seriously," he said.

When asked why lawmakers continue opposing legislation to classify domestic violence as a violent felony, Cooper replied bluntly.

GET BREAKING NEWS ALERTS

"They have no argument. They just vote against it," he said.

The criticism is consistent with Cooper's recent public campaign against California's criminal justice policies.

In recent months, the sheriff has argued that "domestic violence is one of the most personal and devastating forms of violence, but California law can still classify felony domestic violence as 'non-violent.' That needs to change."

He has also repeatedly criticized lawmakers over Proposition 36, accusing them of ignoring nearly 70% of California voters by advancing diversion programs for retail theft offenders instead of fully funding and implementing the initiative.

SEND US A TIP

"Californians were fed up with retail theft and passed Prop. 36 in all 58 counties," Cooper wrote in a recent statement, arguing lawmakers instead responded by proposing new diversion programs that allow some offenders to avoid convictions.

Cooper has also emerged as one of the state's most vocal critics of California's youth offender and elderly parole policies, arguing they have systematically reduced accountability for violent offenders.

After five young suspects were charged in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Sacramento State student who was struck while riding in the back of an Uber, Cooper warned that California law often places greater emphasis on the offender's age than the severity of the crime.

He argued that changes stemming from Proposition 57, youth offender parole laws and elderly parole policies have created a system where serious offenders can receive earlier release based on age rather than the harm inflicted on victims.

"The law places limits on how long offenders can be held but takes zero ownership of the damage done to victims and their families," Cooper wrote. "This is not a system failing.
Stephen Miller's unlikely friendship with Lindsey Graham revealed in heartfelt White House tribute

Graham died from aortic dissection, with Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman already eyeing his South Carolina seat

Stephen Miller, a policy advisor for the White House, paid tribute to the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Monday afternoon, calling him a personal "friend."

"Lindsey was of a mold that I don’t think we’re going to see for a very long time," Miller said. "He was someone who really understood how the power of rhetoric, how the power of communication as a senator can actually change outcomes."

"Lindsey really believed you could change people’s minds through the force and persuasion of his rhetoric."

LINDSEY GRAHAM, SOUTH CAROLINA SENATOR WHO ROSE FROM SMALL-TOWN ROOTS TO GOP POWER BROKER, DIES AT 71

Miller, like many members of the Trump administration, continues to reel from Graham’s sudden death late on Saturday evening, paying homage to a key ally in the Senate. His remarks reveal a closer relationship between the two than has previously been reported.

"Lindsey, I miss you, Godspeed and I’ll see you on the other side," Miller said.

While Graham and President Donald Trump had an up-and-down relationship before and after Trump’s first term, Graham was also a close friend to the president and highly influential on domestic and foreign policy. Graham consistently urged the U.S. to assume a leadership role in the international community, arguing the world was safer and more stable with American engagement.

"Lindsey was the most effective, consistent advocate for the president’s agenda in the Senate," Miller said. "That is a historical legacy that will always belong to him."

Miller added a few other details about their relationship, expressing gratitude for Graham’s readiness to work with the administration.

FROM 'DISGRACE' TO 'FAMILY': TRUMP'S REMARKABLE JOURNEY WITH LINDSEY GRAHAM

"Lindsay was just so fundamentally good to us, to all of us. Every time we needed everything and anything at all, we called Lindsay. Without question, without hesitation, he would help out. I think it's important for people to see the fullness of the picture of Lindsey Graham, why people liked him as much as they did, because he was so generous in heart and in spirit," Miller said.

I still honestly almost haven't with the process that he's gone, because it was so complete and sudden.

Lindsey Graham’s office released a preliminary cause of death on Sunday evening that found the longtime lawmaker had died from "aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease."

Aortic dissection is when a tear occurs in the inner wall of the aorta, the body’s main artery, and is a life-threatening medical emergency.

On Monday, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to serve out the remainder of his term with Trump’s blessing.

It’s unclear if Darline would consider running for a full six-year term.

LINDSEY GRAHAM’S SISTER APPOINTED TO SENATE AS GOP RUSHES TO PROTECT FRAGILE MAJORITY

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Reps.
Brad Pitt faces fresh family blow as daughter clears major hurdle to drop his last name

The Los Angeles Daily Journal ran the required notice four times, with no objection filed so far ahead of a hearing

Brad Pitt's family divide continued to play out in court as newly obtained records showed daughter Zahara cleared a key legal hurdle in her bid to officially remove the actor's last name.

The proof of publication, obtained by Fox News Digital, confirmed Zahara's petition had been published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on June 16, June 23, June 30 and July 7.

California generally requires publication of an Order to Show Cause before a court grants a name change, and this filing certified that requirement was satisfied.

BRAD PITT FIGHTS FOR SURVIVAL IN 'HEART OF THE BEAST' TRAILER AS FANS SAY HE'S 'COOLER' THAN YOUNGER ACTORS

Anyone who wishes to object to the notice must file at least two court days before Zahara's scheduled hearing on Sept. 28. No objection has yet been recorded.

The latest filing comes as those close to the family say the fractured relationship between Pitt and his children has only deepened over the years.

"This is what happens after years of one parent turning the kids against the other," a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital. "It's a painful outcome, but not a shocking one."

Zahara filed to formally remove "Pitt" from her surname in June. If granted, her legal name will change from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. Her name change follows Shiloh's name change in 2024.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER

Pitt's relationship with his children has allegedly been strained since the "Bullet Train" actor and Angelina Jolie first began their divorce proceedings in 2016.

At the time, Jolie cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her split from Pitt and requested sole custody of all six children they share.

In May 2021, a private judge ruled Pitt and Jolie would share custody of their children 50/50. Pitt and Jolie share six children; Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne.

All the children are over 18 years of age at this point, with twins Knox and Vivienne celebrating their birthday on July 12.

LIKE WHAT YOU'RE READING? During a 2016 fight, Pitt allegedly "choked one of the children and struck another in the face" and "grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her," according to court documents previously obtained by Fox News Digital. He then poured "beer and red wine" on her and their six children.

"Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop," according to the documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. "They were all frightened. Many were crying."

Jolie filed for divorce days after the alleged altercation.

A source familiar with the matter previously told Fox News Digital the claims made by Jolie were false and that the actress "continues to rehash, revise and re-imagine her description" of the alleged event by "adding completely untrue information each time she fails to get what she wants."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

James Carville blames Bernie Sanders for Trump being president in fiery rant

Veteran Democratic strategist says far-left insurgents prioritize feeling superior over beating Republicans

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville condemned the rising wave of Democratic socialists on Friday, warning that politicians like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., helped pave the way for the rise of politicians like President Donald Trump.

After having condemned far-left ideology for past defeats, Carville has been sounding the alarm once again as a wave of Democratic socialists have won their primaries in Democratic Party strongholds, prompting him to propose a schism within the party to keep from gaining influence.

"The most catastrophic political event of this century, I think," Carville suggested, "was the election of 2016."

JAMES CARVILLE UNLOADS ON FAR-LEFT DEMOCRATS AFTER PRIMARY UPSETS, SAYS ‘YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM’

"How did Trump win? I'll tell you how. Because god---n Bernie Sanders is the reason that Donald Trump is president. You hear me? Listen to me. I'm telling you the truth," Carville said. "So he runs the whole time against Hillary on the dreaded massive income growth, the dreaded reality that we're dealing with in foreign policy, the massive knowledge of knowing what the hell goes on in the world. But no, we got to blow the whole god---n thing up again."

He argued that Sanders prevented Hillary Clinton's electoral victory by "telling working people and people all over Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, places like that, that somehow or another, it was corporatist America. ‘The Democrats are a corporatist party,’ ‘They’re co-opted,’ that, ‘There's no difference between the establishment Democrats and the establishment Republicans.’ Are you kidding me?"

Carville went on to argue that the far-left, by undermining Democratic candidates during elections, enabled Republicans to win.

"Then we come to massive criminality," Carville continued. "We come to trillions of dollars in added debts. We have a jackass war to run. ‘But it's the Democrats' fault! It's the corporate Democrats!’" he said, mocking the rhetoric of far-left, anti-establishment Democrats. "’It's all because the Democrats listen to Al Gore or some s--- like that."

SANDERS UNDER FIRE FOR PROPPING UP PLATNER AS DEMS TORCH HIS TOXIC ENDORSEMENT 'PATTERN'

"These people are so f---ing stupid, I don't know what to say about," he added. "So now we have this idea that these insurgent Democrats — and what is their solution? Is their solution to beat Republicans, to run against Republicans?" he asked. "No! Their solution is to beat Democrats, like they're part of the problem. No! You are part of the problem because you're a f---ing idiot, and you just believe that pablum nonsense that drifts around the left wing I don't know whatever sphere, blogosphere, atmosphere, fart-sphere whatever sphere they got."

"I can't go back and correct everything these god---n idiots say," Carville said. "But what I can do is tell you, don't fall for the allure of false prophets. And all these people — go beat a Republican, then come back and I will respect you. Until you do that, I have nothing but contempt for you."

He argued that there has been a fundamental shift in many Democrats’ mindset in recent years.

"And somehow or another, among Democrats, something became more important than winning elections. And that became, ‘Oh, I want to feel superior to people. I want to say things that make me sound like I am part of the cool kids."

"You're taking the country into the ditch," he warned. "Into the ditch. That’s what you’re doing."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

"Every evil moment or s----y moment that has enjoyed success has also had useful idiots. That is collaborators. That's right. That's what you are. Useful idiots," he said. "Collaborators who are trying to convince people that it's a systemic problem caused by both parties when, in fact, it's 97-to-3 by one party. And in this century, if it wouldn't be for the Democratic left wing, we might not have even had a Republican president. We sure wouldn't have had one in 2000, and we sure wouldn't have had one in 2016."

"I am a proud liberal. I am not a leftist," he concluded, encouraging Democrats frustrated with the state of modern America to "blame the left wing of the Democratic Party for the catastrophe that we're facing right now. Because as much as any group, it's their fault. Thank you."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital reached out to Sanders for comment and did not immediately receive a response.

United passenger says crew ordered him to change controversial T-shirt before he could travel

Sam Saadeh, who is of Palestinian descent, says United staff could not explain which dress code policy his shirt violated

A New Jersey man says he was forced to change an anti-war T-shirt before boarding a United Airlines flight after a flight attendant deemed the message offensive.

Sam Saadeh, of Linden, New Jersey, said he was boarding a June 4 flight from Atlanta to Newark Liberty International Airport while wearing a shirt reading, "Bombing kids is not self defense," when a United supervisor approached him shortly after he took his seat, according to CBS New York.

Saadeh told the outlet he was "very confused" when he was pulled aside.

FITNESS INFLUENCER SAYS LUFTHANSA TOLD HER SHE LOOKED ‘NAKED,’ FORCED HER TO ZIP UP BEFORE BOARDING FLIGHT

"He was like, 'Hey, the flight attendant finds your shirt offensive,'" Saadeh recalled. "I was like, 'Why?' He goes, 'Here are the choices. Either you change your shirt or you can't get on this flight.'"

According to CBS New York, Saadeh said he ultimately changed shirts because he wanted to make it home but described the interaction as humiliating and said airline personnel were unable to explain why the message violated company policy.

United Airlines confirmed to Fox News Digital that Saadeh ultimately traveled on the flight after changing his shirt.

PASSENGER ALLEGEDLY BOARDS FLIGHT WITH FAKE BOARDING PASS, FORCING PLANE BACK TO GATE

"This customer flew as scheduled after changing his shirt," a United Media Relations spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "That's all we'll have to share."

United's Contract of Carriage states the airline may refuse transportation to passengers who are "not properly clothed, or whose clothing is lewd, obscene or offensive."

Fox News Digital has not independently verified the passenger's account, and United declined to provide additional details about why the shirt was deemed offensive.

Saadeh, who is of Palestinian descent, told CBS New York the shirt was intended to advocate for children and oppose violence regardless of nationality or ethnicity. He also said he filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Transportation and is consulting with attorneys.

CONGRESSMAN RESPONDS AFTER NEW YORK CITY COFFEE SHOP BANS HIM OVER ISRAEL SUPPORT: 'SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS'

Wear the Peace, the organization behind the shirt, also posted screenshots on Facebook of what it said was an email Saadeh sent describing the incident.

FOLLOW US ON X

In the email, Saadeh wrote that a United flight attendant first asked what his shirt said before a supervisor later asked him to get off the plane.

According to the email, the supervisor told Saadeh the flight attendant was offended by the shirt because it contained the word "bomb" and said he would have to change it or he would not be allowed to remain on the flight.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE U.S. NEWS

Saadeh also wrote that after landing in Newark, a United representative told him other passengers had complained because they found the shirt offensive and felt unsafe.

In a Facebook post, Wear the Peace said the shirt was "a peaceful statement, not a threat" intended to draw attention to the deaths of children in Gaza.

GET BREAKING NEWS ALERTS

"The message does not encourage violence, threaten anyone, or suggest that the person wearing it intends to harm others," the organization wrote.

In a follow-up Facebook post, the organization disputed the explanation that the word "bomb" prompted concern, arguing there was an important distinction between the phrase "Bombing kids is not self defense" and language suggesting a passenger posed a threat.

GOT A TIP?

"The shirt did not say, 'I have a bomb.' It said, 'Bombing kids is not self defense,'" the organization wrote, adding that clothing containing words such as "TNT" or "killer" is not typically treated as a security concern.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Wear the Peace also claimed one of its members recently flew on a United flight alongside a passenger wearing an Israel Defense Forces shirt without incident, arguing the airline applied its policy inconsistently.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the U.S. Department of Transportation to confirm receipt of Saadeh's complaint, inquire whether the agency is reviewing the incident, and request comment on the allegations that a passenger was required to change his clothing before being allowed to travel.

Robberies, assaults and rapes spur new US travel warning for popular Caribbean getaway

State Department's updated warning indicates violent crime can strike anywhere on the island

Americans traveling to Saint Lucia are facing a new warning from the U.S. State Department after officials raised concerns about violent crime on the Caribbean island.

The department recently elevated Saint Lucia's advisory to Level 2, "Exercise Increased Caution," adding a new "crime" indicator to the warning.

Known for its volcanic Pitons, luxury resorts and tropical beaches, Saint Lucia attracts visitors from around the world each year.

US UPDATES TRAVEL WARNING FOR QUAKE-HIT NATION, CITING DISASTER RISKS AND VIOLENT CRIME

The updated advisory warns that violent crime can occur anywhere on the island and says U.S. citizens and other foreign visitors have been victims of armed robbery, assault, burglary and rape.

"In some cases, U.S. citizens have been killed," the advisory states.

The State Department also noted that violent crime has affected guests staying at tourist resorts and warned that police response times "are not as fast as in the United States."

Beyond violent crime, officials said petty theft remains common, particularly in popular tourist areas.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER

"Most crimes against foreigners are crimes of opportunity, like purse snatching and pickpocketing," the State Department said in its advisory.

Travelers are further warned about overcharging, scams and aggressive vendors in tourist areas, though the advisory notes that many attractions have tourist police available to assist visitors.

The State Department recommends staying aware of one's surroundings, avoiding displays of wealth, using caution when walking or driving at night — and not physically resisting if confronted during a robbery.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE STORIES

Officials also advise travelers to carefully check their luggage for firearms or loose ammunition before departing for Saint Lucia and to familiarize themselves with local laws and customs before arriving.

Fox News Digital reached out to the State Department for further details.

The warning comes as U.S. officials continue issuing travel and security advisories for destinations around the world.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

U.S. officials have issued several travel and security alerts in recent weeks for popular international destinations, as Fox News Digital previously reported.

Earlier this month, the State Department renewed its Level 2 "Exercise Increased Caution" advisory for the Turks and Caicos Islands, warning travelers about sexual assaults, petty crime, scams targeting tourists and the territory's strict firearms and ammunition laws.

The department urged visitors to stay alert in crowded tourist areas, use caution when walking or driving at night and avoid physically resisting if confronted during a robbery.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

In June, the State Department also updated its longstanding Level 3 travel advisory for Venezuela after powerful earthquakes struck the country, reminding Americans to reconsider travel because of ongoing safety and security concerns.

Andrea Margolis of Fox News Digital contributed reporting.

The winner advances to the July 19 final at New York/New Jersey Stadium, with kickoff from Dallas at 3 pm ET on FOX

In the heart of Texas, two countries will battle for a spot in the World Cup Final on Tuesday afternoon.

France and Spain, two premier programs who have been dominating their way through competition, meet in the FIFA World Cup semifinals at Dallas Stadium in Arlington hoping to punch their ticket to play at New York/New Jersey Stadium on July 19.

It’s two of the most successful squads in World Cup history, and it seems almost a shame they won’t be competing for the World Cup trophy. But that’s how great the competition has been, as these two European rivals go head-to-head in the penultimate step to glory.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

For Spain, conceding their first goal of the entire tournament – yes, you’re reading that correctly – did little to faze them in the quarterfinals. Belgium’s Charles De Ketelaere was able to find the back of Unai Simón’s net to become the only player to do so thus far in the World Cup, but Mikel Merino’s 88th-minute goal was the decider in this 2-1 victory for Spain.

It has been impressive what the Spanish have done since their start in Group H against Cabo Verde turned heads following a 0-0 draw. But they’ve run through their competition ever since, defeating Saudi Arabia and Uruguay on the way to the round of 32, where a decisive 3-0 victory over Austria pushed them on.

WATCH FRANCE VS SPAIN SEMIFINAL

From there, it was a 1-0 win over Portugal, where Merino’s goal in stoppage time ended Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup run. Then, it was on to Belgium, which took down Team USA in the round of 16, where they once again controlled pace of play and got the timely goals necessary to keep their World Cup dreams alive.

Spain wants to get back to the World Cup Final, where they won it all in 2010. But their opponent has some unfinished business from 2022, and they look virtually unstoppable in recent tournaments.

France, which fell to Argentina in the World Cup Final four years ago, is looking to reach its third straight final after doing so in 2018, a win over Croatia, and in 2022. And head coach Didier Deschamps knows he has the team to beat someone like Spain.

WATCH THE WORLD CUP FINAL ON FOX ONE

Led by Golden Boot frontrunner Kylian Mbappé, France has been showing why many believe them to be the favorite even before the tournament began. They controlled the entire match against Morocco, sending them home with a 2-0 quarterfinal win, and the others before that were simply trying to hang on.

It isn’t just Mbappé who deserves all the praise, though. Players like Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise, Désiré Doué and more have simply pestered country after country, possessing the ball well and finding all types of angles to strike on goal.

Could they do it against a Spanish squad that also thrives with possession and suffocates any attack? It’ll be quite the start to the semifinals at the World Cup, and it’s all on FOX.

Here’s how to watch the game, including start time, TV information and streaming options.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

How to watch France vs Spain:

When: Tuesday, July 14 at 3 p.m. ET

Where : Dallas Stadium, Arlington, Texas

TV: FOX

Stream : Watch on FOX One and FOX Sports

Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Here is the real reason why they hate Caitlin Clark so much | Bobby Burack

Here's why the WNBA players and media hate Caitlin Clark so much.

In a discussion late Friday night on CNN, a panel debated why many WNBA players appear to resent Caitlin Clark. Former ESPN host Cari Champion didn't offer an explanation. Instead, she argued that anyone who suggests race is a factor is disrespecting Black women.

"To suggest that it is intentional or that people are being racist towards her leaves out a long history of women who have supported this league and started this league who were Black. It's very disrespectful to them," Champion told the panel.

OK, then.

But why do so many WNBA players, particularly Black players, display such obvious — and at times physical — hostility toward Clark?

Is it simply because she is a straight White woman in a league that is roughly 70% Black or LGBTQ+?

In part, yes. But her identity alone isn't the issue. There's more to it.

CNN’S ABBY PHILLIP CLAIMS GOP LAWMAKERS BACK CAITLIN CLARK ‘EXCLUSIVELY’ BECAUSE SHE IS WHITE

The problem, for many around the league, is that Clark refuses to play the role expected of her. She is a straight White woman who has declined to turn herself into a vehicle for the racial and sexual activism that increasingly defines the league's public image.

That's an important distinction.

The identity left, if you will, doesn't reject all White people. Many would gladly vote for California Gov. Gavin Newsom for president. They adored Sarah Spain throughout her years covering the WNBA. What they reject is the wrong kind of White person.

Most White players in the WNBA have understood the assignment.

Cameron Brink is White, blonde, engaged to a man, and looks like a supermodel. She was drafted one pick after Clark in 2024. The WNBA establishment practically reveres her.

Of course it does.

From the beginning of her career, Brink has followed the script. Before playing a single WNBA game, she volunteered an acknowledgment of her privilege.

"I could go way deeper into this, but I would just say growing the fan base to support all types of players. I will acknowledge there's a privilege for the younger White players of the league," Brink said. "That's not always true, but there is a privilege that we have inherently, and the privilege of appearing feminine."

Then, in May, she emphasized that privilege once again.

"I've tried to be vocal about this and acknowledge there's such a privilege, marketing-wise, being White and blonde," Brink told Interview magazine. "It does really bother me seeing athletes and players who are consistently putting up crazy stat lines and not being rewarded by brands."

Paige Bueckers occupies a similar space.

She is often presented as Clark's counterpart by the sports media, yet there is little visible resentment toward her from either players or the media. Over the weekend, Bueckers expressed concern about the racial makeup of WNBA coaching staffs.

"[The WNBA] was built on a lot of Black women," Bueckers said, via Yahoo Sports. "It's definitely right for them to get the same equal opportunity as everybody else."

Bueckers' remarks were hardly courageous or groundbreaking. Yet Black Twitter spent Monday celebrating them.

ESPN'S COVERAGE OF CAITLIN CLARK IS A RACIALLY CHARGED, DISHONEST, AND EMBARRASSING MESS | BOBBY BURACK

To better understand these dynamics, think back to the use of the term "anti-racism" in 2020. Authors Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi, along with sports analyst Emmanuel Acho, argued there was a critical distinction between being "anti-racist" and merely "not racist." They argued that simply refraining from racism wasn't enough.

For White people, the implication was obvious. It was no longer enough not to be racist. You had to prove you weren't. You had to begin actively fighting against racism.

Former ESPN host Bomani Jones articulated that mindset in 2023, suggesting White people could be presumed racially biased until proven otherwise.

"Let's be fair. White people aren't always racially biased, but you can never be 100% sure," Jones said.

Viewed through that lens, the acceptance of Brink and Bueckers makes more sense. Both have repeatedly signaled they are, in fact, anti-racists.

Caitlin Clark has chosen a different path. She's a basketball player. That's all she's ever claimed to be. She never volunteered to become a symbol in America's culture war. She never volunteered to spend press conferences validating racial activists or apologizing for her own success.

Simply put, Clark is normal. She doesn't feel an obligation to tell the world she isn't a racist or a homophobe. Most sane people don't.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Further, Clark is the first White American sports superstar of post-George Floyd America. That makes her villainous status even harder to shed, as many players and media members seemingly wear their bigotry toward her as a badge of honor.

Combine that with the narrative ingrained in many players that her race and gender are the reasons for her fame. Racial idolaters like Jemele Hill have made sure players continue to hear that message and believe it.

"We would all be very naive if we didn't say race and her sexuality played a role in her popularity," Hill told the Los Angeles Times in 2024.

Statements like that help explain why a player can drive her fist into Clark's neck, and reporters instinctively rush to defend the player who threw the punch instead of the player who took it.

Caitlin Clark has so much White privilege that it's her responsibility to defend the women trying to injure her.

Perhaps they eventually browbeat her with false narratives into becoming a spokesperson for the BLM and LGBT agendas. Unfortunately, it's hard to envision any other alternative.

The Black players and media are not going to accept her otherwise. They have shown they'd rather excuse the most egregious behavior directed at Clark than admit they are the ones enjoying the privilege.

The drama surrounding Caitlin Clark has never been difficult to understand. A straight White girl from Iowa transcended the game of women's basketball. She put the sport on the map.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Yet, the players have made clear they'd rather remain stuck in obscurity than ride the wave created by a White player more concerned with basketball than the grievance-based social messaging.

And that's why they hate her.

Bill Maher rips Buzzfeed, HuffPost to owner's face, says outlets are full of indoctrinated 'nepo babies'

Maher told Byron Allen, who owns Buzzfeed and HuffPost, that the outlets are 'peak woke'

Comedian Bill Maher tore into BuzzFeed and HuffPost on his podcast "Club Random" on Monday during an interview with Byron Allen, who owns both publications, calling them "peak woke."

Allen said he recently purchased BuzzFeed and noted he owns HuffPost as well.

"All these places have been horrible to me," Maher said, naming HuffPost specifically. "Once Arianna [Huffington] left and it became like the most woke."

BILL MAHER OFFERS A STARK WARNING FOR DEMOCRATS CODDLING ANTISEMITES, CALLS OUT ‘WOKE IDIOTS’ IN THE PARTY

Allen invested $120 million into BuzzFeed and is the new CEO of the company, Variety reported in May. BuzzFeed acquired HuffPost in 2020.

After some back and forth, Maher said that HuffPost came down hard on him over the years.

"That's what I hate about the left. The purity. And that's what HuffPost, I'm like — I'm worse than like the Republicans because I'm not pure with their — and a lot of what they believe, of course, is silly, insane revolutionary, garbage from people who don't know facts or history or perspective. But that's okay. I don't have grudges against, I don't even read it," he said.

He then said both HuffPost and BuzzFeed were full of millennial nepo babies.

"All these places are a bunch of snarky f---ing millennial, probably Nepo babies. I mean, I just know how these kids, who have these jobs, how much they were indoctrinated before they got there and they are not America. So I don't know, you don't read your own publications?" Maher said.

BILL MAHER CALLS MAMDANI-BACKED SOCIALIST ‘PATIENT ZERO’ OF THE ‘WOKE MIND VIRUS’

Allen said he's been there two to three weeks, and said he does read his publications.

"Like I said, I'm there two or three weeks. At the end of the day, I do read it. And what I find is that, you know, there's that spectrum," he said, explaining that he learned from Al Masini, who created "Entertainment Tonight," not to get "caught up."

HuffPost came under fire earlier this year over an article posted to social media about feeling discomfort rooting for the USA in the Olympics.

The article, which was titled, "There's a Name for the Discomfort You're Feeling Watching the Olympics Right Now," was posted on X.

"If waving the American flag or chanting 'USA!' turns you off right now, you're not alone," said the caption, with a link to the article.

"While President Donald Trump’s deportation agenda separates families, and federal agents detain 5-year-olds and kill unarmed civilians, American athletes are winning medals on behalf of the nation at the Olympics right now," the February piece read. "This whiplash between pride for United States competitors and national shame for the federal government is common."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

HuffPost pointed to Olympians who expressed disdain for the current government in reaction to recent events, such as the killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

For example, Hunter Hess, an Olympic skier, said, "There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of.
Back-to-back Wimbledon winner Jannik Sinner has to share spotlight with Danish model girlfriend

The Danish model and Miss Universe finalist, who previously dated Mick Schumacher, is drawing comparisons to Morgan Riddle

Being at the top of your game and winning on the biggest stages isn’t always all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes you end up sharing the spotlight with your Danish model girlfriend.

That's the situation Jannik Sinner found himself in on Sunday. The No. 1 tennis player in the world defeated Alexander "Sascha" Zverev to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles and his girlfriend Laila Hasanovic went viral.

It's a tough life, but someone has to live it. Credit to Sinner for not allowing it to get the best of him. While he was taking care of business on the court, the cameras managed to find Hasanovic off of it.

ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON’T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!

Social media took it from there. The 25-year-old Miss Universe finalist is now on the radar of those outside of the tennis and Danish modeling worlds. And the Formula 1 world, for that matter.

Hasanovic, who started a relationship with Jannik Sinner sometime last year, isn't new to the world of sports either. She dated professional driver Mick Schumacher for roughly three years before splitting in April 2025.

Wimbledon has made stars before. Who could forget Morgan Riddle bursting on the scene in the summer of 2022? Not this guy, and with any luck, Sinner's girlfriend could be the next to make something of her viral recognition.

TOMMY PAUL'S INFLUENCER FIANCÉE PAIGE LORENZE TEAMS UP WITH FRANKIES BIKINIS FOR 'BIKINI BRIDE' COLLABORATION

Riddle's now out of the game, having split from Taylor Fritz earlier this year. The sport could use some star power on social media and the timing couldn’t be any better for Hasanovic.

Again, the life of a professional athlete can be trying at times. That isn’t a reality that Sinner isn't familiar with. He knows all about it and hasn't been one to shy away from it.

OUTKICK IS NOW ON THE FOX APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

"Of course it’s not easy, I travel a lot and during tournaments I’m very focused. But I think it’s a wonderful thing when you find the right love," Sinner told Vanity Fair Italia in 2024.

"If you think about it, the best tennis players in the world all have wives and children."

They don't all have Danish models who were once Miss Universe finalists. That's a burden he must bear.

Lindsey Graham’s sister appointed to Senate as GOP rushes to protect fragile majority

Darline Graham Nordone was endorsed by President Trump Monday morning

Darline Graham Nordone, the sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was appointed to fill her brother’s Senate seat after a push from President Donald Trump.

"It's my honor to ask his little sister, Darlene Graham, to finish his work for him now," South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said at a ceremony on Monday afternoon.

McMaster, a close Trump ally, appointed Nordone nearly 48 hours after her brother and longtime lawmaker suddenly died from an aortic dissection.

McMaster’s pick comes after Trump pushed for Graham’s "wonderful sister" Nordone to get the job.

"This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly," Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social on Monday morning.

HEART CONDITION TIED TO LINDSEY GRAHAM'S DEATH CAN STRIKE WITHOUT WARNING — WHAT TO KNOW

Others were also initially considered, including Lt. Gov. Pam Evette, who Trump endorsed in her failed bid to clinch the GOP nomination for governor, former Rep. Trey Gowdy and former Sen. Jim DeMint, sources told Fox News Digital.

Her appointment fills the seat through Jan. 3, while voters decide in November who will hold the seat for the next six-year term.

At this point, it's unclear if Nordone, 62, would consider running for a full six-year term, and there's already private jockeying to run in the special election, set for Aug. 11, to secure the GOP nomination in the Palmetto State, with Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Ralph Norman, R-S.C., both eyeing a bid.

Graham’s death narrowed Republicans’ Senate majority and added pressure to keep every GOP vote available, especially with Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., still being treated after a fall and pneumonia.

Nordone, who has largely kept out of the public eye, is married to Larry Nordone and has two daughters. She has worked with the South Carolina Commission for the Blind (SCCB) as commissioner, according to the organization's 2026-27 budget. The SCCB provides services aimed at helping blind and low-vision South Carolina residents gain employment, independence and self-sufficiency.

In the past, she has described a personal closeness with Lindsey Graham, having been raised by him after the death of their mother when she was just 11.

"I have always looked up to Lindsey. He's just always been there for me as long as I can remember. If I fell down and scraped my knee, Lindsey was the one I ran to," she recounted in a 2014 campaign ad.

Nordone has not previously held elected office. She will become South Carolina's first female senator.

GRAHAM'S DEATH IGNITES GOP SCRAMBLE FOR SENATE SEAT AS TRUMP HINTS HE ALREADY HAS A FAVORITE

Following Trump’s endorsement, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), also put his support behind Nordone on Monday morning ahead of the announcement.

"Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, would be a fantastic pick to serve out the remainder of the Senate term," Scott wrote in a post to X.

"After speaking with Darline, there is no one better who understands Lindsey’s love for family, our state and our country."

McMaster also described speaking with Darline ahead of her appointment as well as with Trump.

"After we spoke on the phone in the wee hours of Sunday morning and you agreed to serve through tears, I had wondered what you would say and I was humbled by your quickness to see the duty that you had to serve. And I called the president afterwards, and he thought it was a great idea," McMaster said.

GRAHAM REPORTEDLY REFUSED MEDICAL HELP BEFORE SCHEDULED TV APPEARANCE

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., also voiced his support for Nordone.

He told CNN Monday afternoon that he had already spoken with both Nordone and McMaster the day before, and believed that tapping the longtime lawmaker's sister to fill his spot, "in my view, makes a lot of sense."

"I think, in many respects, it would be a way of extending Lindsey’s legacy here, and certainly something that, if that’s what they decide to end up doing, I think there’d be a lot of support for," Thune said.

The filing period for a special primary election begins on July 21, with the special election to follow on Aug. 11. A runoff, if needed, would be held Aug. 25, leaving the candidate just two months to campaign before the Nov. 3 general election.

Cricket Australia pulls ridiculous national anthem move that shows how left-wing the country has become

The move to consult an indigenous advisory group over 'cultural sensitivity' has sparked a patriotism debate across Australia

Australia seems determined to make radical left-wing blue states like California, Minnesota and Michigan look normal.

That seems borderline impossible, doesn't it?

Those states are busy trying to allow males to compete in girls' and women's sports, making it possible for illegal immigrants to vote, and covering up massive amounts of government fraud and waste in the name of "equality."

MLB GREAT JIM EDMONDS SAYS HE WOULDN'T HAVE TOLERATED NATIONAL ANTHEM PROTESTS: 'WE STAND UP AND SALUTE'

And yet, Australia somehow always finds a way to drop the ultimate, "hold our beer."

The latest example comes from Cricket Australia, which is reportedly bringing the Big Bash League final back to Australia Day on Jan. 26, 2027.

Makes sense, right? Cricket is one of the biggest sports in the country. Australia Day is one of the country's most important holidays.

It's the perfect time to combine two unifying forces – love of sport and national pride – into one huge celebratory day. But this is modern-day Australia we're talking about.

According to The Australian, Cricket Australia does not currently plan to feature "Advance Australia Fair," the country’s national anthem, before the BBL final unless the hosting city specifically requests it.

Read that again.

The championship game is being played on Australia Day, but playing the Australian national anthem prior to the match isn't in the plan.

Truly incredible.

Can you imagine if the NFL hosted the Super Bowl on the Fourth of July and said, "We're going to pass on the whole 'Star-Spangled Banner' thing because we don't want to offend anyone."

American sports leagues have pulled some ridiculous moves in the name of radical left-wing ideology, but none of them have dared to go that far. It's bad enough the NFL plays the "black national anthem" before the Super Bowl, but forgoing "The Star-Spangled Banner" is a step no league would dare attempt.

THIS 'AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL' RENDITION BEFORE THE FRANCE VS PARAGUAY MATCH WILL GIVE YOU GOOSEBUMPS

If sports executives for one of the country’s biggest sports properties think playing the national anthem before their biggest game is problematic, Australia has far more problems than it seems willing to admit.

But it goes much deeper than that.

The league is reportedly expected to work with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cricket Advisory Committee, also known as NATSICA, to make sure the day is handled with proper "cultural sensitivity."

Seriously? The league has to consult with an "Indigenous advisory group" to decide if it's appropriate to play Australia's own national anthem?

I can do that for them right now for free.

Yes. It's perfectly appropriate to play the country's national anthem before a massive sporting event. There, done.

By the way, Cricket Australia scheduled the final for Australia Day. Nobody forced them to do that; they picked the date because it’s a national holiday and they want people to watch.

The good news is that many Australians are actually angry. A Herald Sun reader poll cited found overwhelming support for cricket returning to Australia Day, and many readers also argued the anthem should be played.

Why is that good news? Because it means there are rational people in the country who simply want to display some patriotism and national pride. That's a good thing, not a bad thing.

This is all very predictable. The people in charge make decisions to please left-wing activists who are impossible to satisfy, then act shocked when normal citizens don’t appreciate the disrespect for their country.

What exactly is the point of putting the BBL final on Australia Day if Cricket Australia is going to act like the "Australia" part is inherently problematic? They want the holiday crowd, the TV audience and the attention. They just don’t want to appear too patriotic while cashing in on the date.

Or, maybe, they’re just cowards.

Cricket Australia has an easy choice here.

Play the anthem. Play the match. Let Australians enjoy Australia Day and maybe, just maybe, have a little pride in their country for one day.

Apparently, that’s too much to ask.

Australia can keep pretending this is about "cultural sensitivity" or whatever other corporate buzzword makes executives feel brave while doing cowardly things.

But normal people see exactly what’s happening.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Cricket Australia scheduled one of its biggest events on Australia Day, then acted like celebrating Australia is something that requires an apology.

That’s not sensitivity.

That’s weakness.

'The halls of the Senate already feel empty': Tearful Thune honors Lindsey Graham as sister takes his seat

Gov. Henry McMaster named Darline Graham Nordone to fill the vacant seat, a pick backed by Trump and Sen. Tim Scott

In the Senate, there’s a black veil covering a desk. On top there’s a bowl of striking white roses. That’s where Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., used to sit.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., pointed to that desk during an emotional tribute to the late Senator on Monday. Graham was a confidant, trusted advisor and friend to Thune. And through tears, he set about remembering the lawmaker who spent 30 years in Washington, D.C., making a mark on his state and country.

"It's difficult to believe that Lindsey Graham is no longer here with us," Thune said. "That we won't run into him at a meeting today or share a joke with him at this afternoon's vote. The halls of the Senate already feel empty without him. And I know I'm not alone in that feeling."

GRAHAM'S DEATH IGNITES GOP SCRAMBLE FOR SENATE SEAT AS TRUMP HINTS HE ALREADY HAS A FAVORITE

As Thune spoke about Graham, the late lawmaker’s staff sat in the Senate chamber as tears filled the room. And since Thune became the leader of the Senate GOP, you would oftentime see Graham enter his office just off the Senate floor.

He was there to talk down Republican rebels who threatened to sink President Donald Trump’s "big, beautiful bill," and once earlier this year stormed into Thune’s office declaring his resistance to a deal struck by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and the president to avert a government shutdown.

But he was there, and Thune noted that "Lindsey was fearless in his commitment to the causes that he espoused."

SENATE RETURNS TO PACKED AGENDA AFTER GRAHAM'S DEATH SHRINKS GOP MARGIN

"It didn't matter to him whether he would catch flak on an issue," Thune said. "He was undaunted by the politics if he believed he was right on the principle."

"Senator. Warrior. Patriot. Statesman," Thune continued. "Words that will be written about Lindsey. But for me, most of all, Mr. President, he was my friend."

Shortly after Thune’s tribute to Graham, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster officially tapped his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to fill his seat for the remainder of his term. It’s a move that Thune, Trump and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. backed.

LINDSEY GRAHAM’S SISTER APPOINTED TO SENATE AS GOP RUSHES TO PROTECT FRAGILE MAJORITY

"I think this is what Lindsey would have wanted, and I plan to honor him in this way," Nordone said at the ceremony. "Now to Lindsey, I miss you more than I can even put into words. But I'm going to do this, I got it."

Back in the Senate, Thune remembers Graham as a "staunch conservative and a fierce advocate for South Carolina," but as a lawmaker who was willing to cross the aisle to find a solution. Through it all, Thune said that he would miss Graham’s friendship and humor.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"I am comforted by the knowledge that in the end, he has just changed his address. And that one day, Mr. President," Thune said through tears. "We will laugh together again."

Trump touts IndyCar drivers' 'special' ability at Freedom 250 Grand Prix showcase, seemingly ending hot debate

Earlier this year, ESPN's Stephen A Smith sparked fury when he dismissed the notion that racecar drivers were athletes

President Donald Trump on Monday ended the debate over whether racecar drivers are athletes as his administration showcased the power of IndyCar vehicles ahead of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., next month.

Trump participated in the Freedom 250 Grand Prix showcase at the White House along with IndyCar star Álex Palou, racing team owner Roger Penske and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

AMERICA'S 250TH CELEBRATION IN NATION'S CAPITAL BOOSTED BY ICONIC AUTOMAKER'S 2-WEEK TRIBUTE TO INNOVATION

"Next month these exceptional sportsman drivers, athletes, they’re great athletes," Trump said. "Nothing nobody can do. They’re born with something special. They’re born with the ability to press that pedal all the way down to the ground. Most people can’t do that. Very few people can.

"They’re beautiful cars. They’re going to make freedom roar. This is going to be a freedom that’s roaring like never before."

The showcase also featured a live pit stop.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. takes place Aug. 22 and 23. The track layout features a 1.66-mile drive and seven turns.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Trump’s declaration comes amid a hotly contested debate in the racing world over whether professional racecar driver are actually athletes.

ESPN star Stephen A. Smith waded into the territory in April when a caller on his radio show suggested that Richard Petty was one of the greatest athletes of all time. He said driving a car doesn’t "count" as being an athlete.

NASCAR greats Jeff Gordon and Kyle Larson pushed back on Smith’s insinuations in an interview with Fox News Digital in May before the Indy 500.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Larson, the reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, challenged Smith, or anyone for that matter, to go one lap in a race car "without feeling like they're going to die."

Fox News’ Ryan Morik contributed to this report.
