LSU-Ole Miss TV ratings prove that some college football brands are in a league of their own

The Week 3 showdown between LSU and Ole Miss in Oxford had everything going for it. Not only was it a contest between two arch-rivals, both ranked inside the AP Top 10, but it also featured a months-long build-up that had been brewing since the second Lane Kiffin left the Rebels last November to take over the Tigers.

On paper, it very well may have been the most quintessential college football game of the 21st century. The matchup checked every box one could come up with, and at times felt like a drama unfolding on Netflix more than a real-life football game.

The fact that it was decided by eight points, with the team that was left at the altar getting its revenge, and with the game coming down to a play with under one minute remaining was just the icing on the cake. When the final whistle sounded, it felt as if the college football world as a whole could finally take a breath after a four-hour slugfest coming off of 10 months of anticipation.

The TV ratings from the game reflect that college football fans were glued to what was unfolding in Oxford, but not quite like they were to a specific game just one week prior.

ESPN shared that LSU-Ole Miss was Week 3's most-watched game, with an average of 10.9 million viewers and a peak viewership of 13.7 million. The matchup outperformed the nearest competitor by a whopping 237%.

Those are huge numbers, and the game ranked eighth all-time across the ESPN network when it comes to regular-season games over the last 10 years.

Ratings from Ohio State's visit to Texas in Week 2, however, make the LSU-Ole Miss contest look like a preseason scrimmage.

Texas' stunning comeback to beat the Buckeyes averaged 14 million viewers, with a peak of 16.4 million. It was the most-watched Week 2 matchup on record, across all networks, and the most-watched regular-season primetime game since the 2012 Notre Dame-USC game.

LSU has been among the strongest brands across the Southeast for well over a half century, and Ole Miss is turning into a modern-era blueblood, but this proves what most already knew, and that is that Texas and Ohio State are national brands in the most literal and legitimate of ways.

Both games came down to the final minutes, both featured comebacks, and both were oozing with storylines and stars, but the Buckeyes and Longhorns are operating on a level of their own.

Kappa Kappa Gamma member says transgender membership policy undermines sorority sisterhood

A Kappa Kappa Gamma member at Florida State University says the sorority's transgender membership policy has left her questioning her decision to join the organization, arguing that it undermines the sense of sisterhood she expected to find.

"As soon as I heard about it, I was honestly ... disappointed," FSU student Alexis Richards told "The Riley Gaines Show."

"This is like the one thing where I feel this shouldn't be happening," she continued. "It's like the protected sisterhood, and I never would have expected it to be infiltrated by biological men."

Richards said learning about the controversy surrounding the sorority's membership policy made her consider what she would do if a similar situation unfolded at her own chapter.

"What if this happened to FSU? I don't want to be a part of that. I would be so uncomfortable, and I cannot imagine what those girls went through," she said.

Sorority alumnae returned to federal court last week, asking judges to revive their lawsuit against the organization after they alleged its national leadership improperly allowed a chapter to admit a biological male.

The legal fight stems from 2022, when transgender student Artemis Langford joined the University of Wyoming chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Plaintiff Allie Coghan told Fox News Digital that she hopes the appeal will establish a clear legal precedent that protects single-sex private spaces and keeps national organizations from overriding local member consent.

Richards said the issue has forced her to reconsider assumptions she had when she first joined.

"It definitely makes you rethink some of the joining a sorority," she said.

"I never expected this to happen, so what else could happen?"

The FSU student has since publicly challenged the organization over the issue, a decision she acknowledged was "a little nerve-racking."

Before speaking out, Richards said she sent her father her planned message and received a warning in response: "Buckle up."

"I was, like, 'I'm ready.' I feel like I need to say something because I just feel like if I didn't say anything, I would be doing like an injustice to myself, because I started speaking out more publicly about my views," she told Gaines.

"I was very involved with like Charlie Kirk and Turning Point, and I think after his assassination, that like woke up something inside of me where I'm like, 'I'm not going to sit back and hope someone else does it for me. I'm just going to do it myself,' and I think taking that first step is something that I genuinely am so proud of myself for doing because it's scary."

Richards said the Kappa's admission of biological males is something she hopes "never happens again," adding that she hopes the issue can be contained now to prevent similar cases in the future.

When reached for comment by Fox News Digital last week, Kappa Kappa Gamma said, "On Monday, Kappa Kappa Gamma defended in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Colorado, our right as a private organization to interpret Kappa Kappa Gamma’s bylaws."

The statement continued, "We will continue to vigorously defend against attempts by plaintiffs to use the judicial system to take away a private organization's fundamental right to govern itself and cause lasting damage to our organization. We are confident the appellate court will uphold the decisive Wyoming federal court ruling and bring a swift resolution to this matter."

Stanford admits breaking own policy after race-, gender-swapped student photos emerge

Stanford University was caught red-handed using artificial intelligence to alter an image promoting its residential and dining offerings, replacing a Hispanic male student with a Black woman.

The Stanford Review posted the original dining-hall photo — which shows an Asian woman, a White man and a Hispanic student — alongside the altered version on X.

"We have reviewed the matter and confirmed that AI was used to alter the image in violation of university policy. Stanford's AI policy is clear: The use of AI in producing or altering images of Stanford people, events, research, facilities, or achievements is strictly prohibited," a spokesperson for Stanford University said in a email to Fox News Digital.

"Both the alteration and lack of disclosure in this case violate that policy. We are working with Residential and Dining Enterprises to provide additional training and ensure proper review of all materials," the spokesperson continued.

Billy Ramirez, who was removed from the photo, told the Stanford Review that he was "baffled" when he saw that he was cut out of the photo.

"At first, I found it hilarious that they had used AI to completely change our appearances, including my race and gender," Ramirez told the Stanford Review.

"But after looking at the comparison, I was also upset because I don’t agree with Stanford making those choices about how we were represented," Ramirez continued. "Seeing my identity changed and being left out of the picture made me feel, in a way, silenced and erased from a representation that was supposed to include me."

In addition to removing Ramirez from the photo, the appearances of the two students were also altered, making the Asian woman and White man’s faces thinner.

The controversy comes as Stanford faces scrutiny from the Trump administration over alleged race-based discrimination in both its admissions policies and a teacher-certification support program.

In April, the Trump administration opened a civil-rights investigation into Stanford over allegations that a teacher-certification program reserved full financial support for educators who identified as people of color. The Education Department said it is examining whether the program violated Title VI by conditioning access to benefits on race.

Sunny Hostin reveals she was holdout juror on case where man killed woman, dismembered her, boiled body parts

ABC'S "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin revealed on the liberal talk show Tuesday that she was a holdout juror on a case in a New York in the 1990s in which a man killed and dismembered his roommate, shocking her co-hosts as she argued, "I saw clearly that he was psychotic."

As "The View" discussed the Lindsay Clancy case, Hostin said she felt that Clancy was not criminally responsible. She said she also felt strongly about the holdout juror because she was once a holdout juror.

Daniel Rakowitz was found not criminally responsible by reason of mental disease or defect in 1991 after killing his roommate, Monika Beerle, with Hostin later identifying herself as the holdout juror who initially prevented the jury from returning a guilty verdict. Because the jury found Rakowitz "not mentally responsible" for the murder, according to The New York Times, he was sent to a state hospital in New York for the criminally insane. NBC New York reported in 2010 that Rakowitz would remain at the maximum-security Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center on Wards Island after he petitioned to be moved.

LINDSAY CLANCY MISTRIAL DECLARED AFTER JURY DEADLOCKS IN KILLINGS OF HER THREE CHILDREN

Hostin, whose maiden name is Cummings and whose first name is Asunción, was quoted in a Feb. 23, 1991, New York Times report about the trial, which said, "Several jurors questioned afterward said one holdout juror was principally responsible for preventing them from returning a guilty verdict."

"The View" co-host presented the article on the show while explaining the case.

"That was me. It was because I saw clearly that he was psychotic," Hostin said Tuesday during the show.

"'We don't think he intended to kill her,'" said a juror, Asuncion Cummings. "'But once he did, he dismembered her body in an effort to commit the perfect crime,'" the Times report read, quoting Hostin.

"He did not mean to kill her, and once he killed her he panicked. He chopped up her body parts, yes, boiled her body parts, tried to commit the perfect crime," Hostin said during the show on Tuesday, noting how much she believed in the insanity defense as her co-hosts appeared shocked. "And he fed her body parts to the unhoused."

Her co-hosts appeared shocked, as Alyssa Farah Griffin asked, "You got this guy off?"

Hostin added, "All that being said it was so clear to me in the jury room — we were sequestered for nine days, one juror threw a chair at me. They were so angry at me. But one by one, I picked them off. What about this, what about that? We ended up, all 12 unanimously, voting that he was not criminally responsible by reason of insanity."

The Times report from 1991 said Rakowitz, whom the report described as a "former mental patient," eventually admitted to boiling Beerle's body parts. He left her skull in the baggage room at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City in a bucket of kitty litter.

A witness, according to the Times, testified during the trial that Rakowitz had served soup to the homeless in Tompkins Square Park that contained a finger.

When reached for comment by Fox News Digital, NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck said, "This is beyond parody. Absolutely breathtakingly stupid that she would not only admit to this but also act like it's a badge of honor."

Hostin brought the conversation back to the Clancy case and the news that Clancy's defense team was calling for an investigation into the holdout juror. Hostin called it "despicable."

"The insanity defense is a real thing and I think this lawyer, you know, who is — wants the juror investigated. That’s going to have a chilling effect on juries. Jury duty is a duty. It is one of the most important things I think I’ve ever done in my life. It was extremely difficult but to investigate a juror for doing his or her duty is despicable," she said.

Hostin went viral on Monday after she said her children faced racism while attending "predominantly White" private schools.

Hostin brought up the topic while discussing 1619 Project founder and The New York Times Magazine reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, who recently admitted she regretted aspects of her decision to send her daughter to predominantly Black, high-poverty public schools in Brooklyn in an effort to challenge educational inequality.

"I think that this is a decision broadly that all parents make when it comes to educating their kids, but... this is a very difficult decision for Black parents, in particular, because I made a very different decision," Hostin said. "I sent my children to private schools, a predominantly White private school. So, while they didn't suffer academically, they excelled, but it was a well-funded school, a private school, well-resourced school, they suffered a different type of pain."

"There was psychological trauma, there was racism that they experienced," she added. "They were bullied. There was, you know, trauma around their identity. My daughter wears a big afro, kids were trying to stick pencils in her hair. Boys were calling her butter face, meaning she looked good, but her face, and she is a beautiful girl."

While Hostin conceded that her children "did not struggle academically" as Hannah-Jones' daughter reported, she expressed concerns about the "systemic problem" affecting predominantly non-White school districts.

China ‘throwing gasoline on the fire’ in AI data centers race, say lawmakers

FIRST ON FOX: As President Donald Trump prepares to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about the future of artificial intelligence, two top House Republicans are warning that the Chinese Communist Party is "throwing gasoline on the fire" by undermining America's effort to build out AI infrastructure.

In a new letter disclosed to Fox News Digital, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., and House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party Chairman John Moolenaar, R-Mich., asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank Bisignano to determine whether money has been funneled from overseas through America’s charitable system to block the data centers needed for the U.S. to compete with China.

Specifically, they raised questions about hundreds of millions of dollars that American-born communist tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham pumped into nonprofits and organizations that are now among the leading organizations fighting data center development throughout the country. Recipients of Singham's largesse include the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition, both self-described pro-China communist groups. Earlier this month, activists from both groups carried signs in a Chapel Hill, N.C., protest, merging anti-Trump sentiments with support for communist Cuba and opposition to data centers and AI development, including the message, "SHUT IT DOWN!"

"Under no circumstances can we allow an adversary, and our most serious competitor in AI infrastructure, to weaponize our own tax code and harm an emerging American industry," the lawmakers wrote in the letter, sent on Tuesday.

The lawmakers allege that influence operations linked to China are exploiting tax-exempt organizations, nonprofit networks and social media campaigns to fuel opposition to the data centers needed to power America’s AI industry.

The lawmakers urged the agencies to investigate whether tax-exempt organizations connected to the network have operated for the "private or political benefit of foreign-aligned interests" and whether donor-advised funds and intermediary entities were used to "launder the origin of foreign-directed money into American advocacy."

A Fox News Digital investigation found that Singham funneled $285 million since 2017 to six U.S. nonprofits, including his wife Jodie Evan's group, CodePink, through two shell corporations and a donor-advised philanthropy fund run by Goldman Sachs, which said it closed the Singham account in 2024.

The nonprofits have functioned with tax-deductible status while actively involved in promoting communist regimes such as China, coordinating street protests and fomenting anti-American rage. They have denied being part of any foreign influence operation, and Singham hasn't responded to requests for comment.

Smith said China is helping fuel opposition to American artificial intelligence infrastructure by giving a base to Singham as he funds U.S. nonprofit groups involved in anti-data-center protests.

"This is the Chinese helping throw the gasoline on the fire," Smith told Fox News Digital. "The American people need to know that this is not just an organic movement."

Smith said Americans have legitimate concerns about data centers, including their effect on electricity costs and water usage. But he said foreign-backed organizations shouldn't be allowed to exploit those concerns to slow U.S. technological development.

Smith said that "the Chinese want to stall and slow down the advancement of AI in the United States because they want to win the AI war."

"Tax exempt is a privilege. It is not a right," Smith said. "We need to make sure that we’re not subsidizing tax dollars to help create hostility and unrest in our country."

Smith also called for greater transparency regarding the flow of money among organizations connected to Singham. He added that the broader issue extends beyond the tax code and could include questions about compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act violations. "Transparency is the biggest thing," he said.

PROBE INTO 'SUBVERSIVE' ANTI-AI SINGHAM NETWORK IS 'ENORMOUS,' FORMER TREASURY ADVISOR SAYS

Moolenaar said organizations presenting themselves as grassroots opposition groups are actually advancing the Chinese Communist Party’s agenda in the U.S. "Groups that portray themselves as grassroots are really more astroturf — very fake — being funded by entities that are working in partnership with the Chinese Communist Party," Moolenaar told Fox News Digital.

"The concern is that they are manipulating the messaging and opposition to different American investments, whether it’s data centers or other technological advances, trying to turn the American people against these technologies so that China would be able to have dominance in this area," he said.

Moolenaar pointed to the use of grassroots organizations, community groups, propaganda and online bots.

"We don’t want foreign entities of concern — countries that may be opposed to American interests — using our system against the American people and trying to manipulate them," Moolenaar said.

He said the lawmakers are seeking greater transparency into the organizations’ funding and tax-exempt status, including whether their political activity violates federal rules.

"When you see them actively speaking out against American interests and realize that groups like CodePink are aggressively funded by this network, that raises serious concerns," Moolenaar said.

The chairman said China’s influence efforts exploit the openness of American society.

"The Chinese Communist Party always has the goal of dividing Americans, manipulating and getting their propaganda out," he said. "They don’t have the freedoms that we enjoy, and they try to exploit our freedoms and use that against us."

China remains both a major trading partner and a strategic competitor, Moolenaar said, but the United States must avoid becoming dependent on Beijing.

"They are a serious adversary," he said. "They are a trading partner, which is true, and we need to have a relationship with them," Moolenaar said. "But at the same time, we do not want to be manipulated, we do not want to become more dependent, and we certainly do not want to be under their thumb."

POWER COUPLE OF CHAOS: HOW A TYCOON AND ACTIVIST BUILT A ‘REVOLUTIONARY BASE’ AT THE HOUSE OF SINGHAM

The lawmakers noted that a bicameral group of congressional committees, including the Ways and Means Committee, the House Select Committee on the CCP and the Senate Intelligence Committee, has been examining how influence operations linked to the CCP allegedly exploit America’s tax-exempt sector to "sow discord and undermine our democracy."

"The CCP consistently identifies political issues under public debate in our country and seeks to corrupt those debates," Smith and Moolenaar wrote in their letter. The CCP, they added, seeks to "heighten divisions between Americans and to degrade our civic processes."

The lawmakers specifically pointed to opposition campaigns targeting the construction of data centers, which are critical to the nation’s AI infrastructure.

A June report from OpenAI identified two clusters of ChatGPT accounts likely originating in China that were used in covert influence operations targeting U.S. debates over AI and technology policy. One campaign, dubbed "Data Center Bandwagon," generated social media comments and images claiming that data-center construction was raising electricity prices for average families. OpenAI said it found no evidence that the operation achieved meaningful breakout beyond its own activity, but said it demonstrated how foreign operators can exploit existing local concerns to amplify distrust.

The lawmakers also cited a report from the Bitcoin Policy Institute that identified 21 campaigns against data centers led by the Party for Socialism and Liberation across 14 states. The report said those campaigns contributed to 10 data-center moratoria, a permanent data-center ban and four rejected or scrapped projects, representing nearly $23.68 billion in proposed investment.

The Party for Socialism and LIberation and the ANSWER Coalition are supported by the Singham network, and a Fox News Digital investigation has traced links between prominent activism against data centers by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the ANSWER Coalition and other organizations in the Singham network, including BreakThrough News, the People’s Forum, Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research and CodePink.

"Our tax code should not be used as a shield for foreign money waging a disinformation war on American AI infrastructure," Smith and Moolenaar wrote. "This is yet another shocking and dangerous example of how malign foreign actors are funneling dollars into the United States to further CCP interests."

LAWMAKERS SAY THEY ARE STANDING AT THE GATES AGAINST 'TROJAN HORSES' PROMOTING MALIGN FOREIGN INTERESTS

The lawmakers asked Treasury and the IRS to determine whether tax-exempt organizations supporting the network have violated the requirements of their status.

Their request includes examining whether organizations operating under Section 501(c)(3) have acted for the "private or political benefit of foreign-aligned interests," rather than for genuine charitable purposes. They also asked whether donor-advised funds and intermediary entities were used to "launder the origin of foreign-directed money into American advocacy."

The letter follows earlier oversight by the Ways and Means Committee and the House Select Committee on the CCP into the tax-exempt sector and organizations allegedly connected to Singham’s network.

The lawmakers emphasized that opposition to data centers is a legitimate subject for public debate but said Americans should know whether foreign adversaries are attempting to influence those debates through nonprofit organizations, social media campaigns or covert funding channels.

"The American people deserve to know which actors adversarial to the United States are trying to undermine these decision-making processes," they wrote.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris was accused of adopting a different accent during a Detroit NAACP appearance Tuesday, drawing criticism online over the way she addressed the crowd.

Harris made the remarks Tuesday while urging Democratic turnout ahead of the 2026 midterms, but clips of her appearance quickly drew attention online for something else – critics said her delivery sounded noticeably different from her usual speaking voice.

"Shirley Chisholm talked about it. If you're not at the table, bring a folding chair. Otherwise, you might be on the menu. I'm conflating two people say, you know. It's OK to not be in love with a candidate," said Harris. "It's OK to vote and ask everybody else to vote, because this choice is better than that one."

Harris has faced similar criticism before. During the 2024 campaign, critics accused her of adopting a Southern accent at a rally in Atlanta and later pointed to differences in her delivery during Labor Day appearances in Detroit and Pittsburgh.

Harris continues to face questions about whether she will make another run for the White House in 2028. She has kept the door open to a possible campaign but has not said whether she plans to run.

Trans activists inject themselves with hormones in viral stunt protesting Trump's DOJ deal with NYU

A video showing transgender activists injecting themselves with cross-sex hormones outside New York University's Langone Health hospital is spreading rapidly online, just days after the hospital reached an agreement with President Donald Trump's Department of Justice (DOJ) to cease providing sex-change treatments to minors.

"We're taking our HRT here at the doors of the people who have given up to demystify, normalize, and celebrate our trans bodies in the face of NYU's cowardice," a person holding a bullhorn and reading off a script says in the video, referencing hormone replacement therapy drugs.

The people in the video, all wearing masks outside, can be seen filling syringes and injecting themselves, including a person in a wheelchair.

JD VANCE CALLS ON DOJ TO PROSECUTE ALLEGED FRAUD IN TEEN TRANSGENDER TREATMENT

A crowd of supporters, some holding signs saying "Protect Trans Kids" and "Resist," looked on as the stunt was performed. Other protesters held a hand-made banner reading "No compliance with Trump's bias."

The video, which was posted to X by Freedom News TV, drew harsh reactions from shocked online viewers.

"This is so obviously a mental illness," said online commentator Matt Van Swol. "You cannot watch this video and conclude anything else."

"This is a truly crazed movement that has successfully normalized cultish pseudo-medical practices from the outermost fringe of human extremity as a part of suburban elementary school life across America," said author Wesley Yang. "Surely everyone watching these bizarre spectacles understands this."

"I see addicts. Addicted to HRT. Addicted to attention. Addicted to constant validation," said Tanya Tay Posobiec.

CLEVELAND CLINIC COMMITS $2M TO DETRANSITION CARE UNDER DOJ SETTLEMENT

Last week, the DOJ announced that it came to an agreement with NYU Langone and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) after investigating the institutions for potentially illegally carrying-out on children "sex-rejecting procedures," which proponents often describe as "gender affirming care."

"Under the agreements, NYU and UPMC will cease providing these dangerous interventions to minors, which include administering puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and performing surgical procedures," a DOJ release said.

NYU Langone also agreed to pay $8.5 million as part of the settlement, while UPMC agreed to pay $950,000. The DOJ made it clear that the resolution does not confer liability on either of the hospitals, and maintains that the hospitals deny any wrongdoing.

"The Department of Justice is fighting to protect our nation’s children and working tirelessly to reach agreements with hospitals to end so-called ‘gender affirming care’ for minors," said Attorney General Todd Blanche in the DOJ's statement.

"Today’s resolutions send a clear message: hospitals that target children in these practices and then fraudulently obtain payment for the procedures will be held to account."

FBI investigates after ShinyHunters hackers claim theft of agents' personal data

The FBI said it is investigating a hack of its jobs portal, which took down the website entirely on Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, the site was still not operational.

"The FBI is aware of claims regarding unauthorized activity affecting FBIjobs.gov and is currently investigating," the FBI said in a statement to Fox News.

ShinyHunters, a criminal hacking and extortion group, took responsibility for the breach and said it has stolen the information of almost all FBI agents and people who applied to the bureau for a job, Reuters reported.

FBI WRAPS UP CYBERCRIME OPERATION TARGETING GLOBAL NETWORKS PREYING ON AMERICANS

A screenshot of a data sample shared with Reuters contained agents' names, home addresses, Social Security numbers, their assignments and, in some cases, the names of their family members.

ShinyHunters said on its dark-web site it targeted the FBI in response to the bureau's May 2026 public service announcement warning organizations about the group's tactics and reiterating that victims should not pay ransom or extortion demands.

"Threat actors often use their real or exaggerated claims of access to sensitive or personal information to prompt payment from victims. Victims may receive an extortion email signed as ShinyHunters," the FBI's PSA said.

HACKERS THREATEN TO LEAK DATA FROM 275M USERS AFTER BREACHING MAJOR COLLEGE PLATFORM USED NATIONWIDE

ShinyHunters has been linked to several high-profile cyberattacks, including the alleged theft of millions of records from "Grand Theft Auto" developer Rockstar Games and a May breach of the Canvas learning platform that disrupted schools across the United States.

Earlier this month, Anthropic said it detected hackers tied to the group attempting to misuse its AI tools.

Letitia James’ re-election cushion shrinks as little-known challenger starts turning heads

New York Attorney General Letitia James, a top rival of President Donald Trump, is losing ground to her Republican challenger even though most New Yorkers still know little about who she is running against.

James’ lead over GOP challenger Saritha Komatireddy fell by five points between August and September, according to a newly released poll from Siena University. Though the Democrat’s lead is slipping, it’s still commanding, with James leading Komatireddy by a margin of 52% to 39%.

Republicans nationally are facing difficult polling in several key races, including competitive contests in traditionally Republican-leaning states such as Alaska, Texas and Ohio. Against that backdrop, New York Republicans holding roughly steady or improving modestly in Siena’s polling represents a relative bright spot.

The New York governor’s race is within single digits, with Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, the GOP nominee, trailing incumbent Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul 50% to 41%, according to Siena’s latest poll. The nine-point margin is little changed from August, when Hochul led 49% to 39%.

The margin of error in Siena’s September poll is about four percentage points, meaning the five-point narrowing in James’ lead should be interpreted cautiously rather than as definitive evidence of a shift in the race.

Komatireddy is a former federal prosecutor and Harvard Law graduate who clerked for then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

With a little more than a month until Election Day, two-thirds of likely New York voters say they either don’t know who Komatireddy is or don’t possess enough information about her to have an opinion.

The Republican’s low name recognition shows that her campaign has yet to make her widely known to voters with Election Day approaching. It could also, however, signal that she has room to grow her support.

Scottie Scheffler squashes 'very much untrue' narratives about Americans ahead of Presidents Cup

Entering this week's Presidents Cup at Medinah, the American side shouldn't have any concerns as it is the considerable favorite against the International Team and is seeking what would be its 11th straight victory in the biennial event. Outside noise never goes mute, however, and Scottie Scheffler got honest about one narrative that has turned into a consistent sticking point for himself and the U.S. team as a whole.

The frustrating narrative doesn't have anything to do with the Presidents Cup as an event, but instead with the U.S. team room, camaraderie, and the idea that the Americans simply haven't cared enough about the other, more marquee and historic team event, the Ryder Cup.

"I think that’s something that’s probably been frustrating for us as American players, is some of the narrative that have gone on over the course of my team match play career," Scheffler told reporters at Medinah on Tuesday. "Stuff like Patrick Cantlay not wearing his hat or stupid rumors that simply aren’t true, like meeting in a different team room and the Americans aren’t a close team. It’s something for us that can be very frustrating at times because it’s very much untrue."

Scheffler's call back to Cantlay not wearing a hat dates back to the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy, when Jamie Weir of Sky Sports created the drama by reporting that the U.S. team room was "fractured" while claiming Cantlay was playing without a hat as some form of protest about players not being paid in the Ryder Cup.

Weir also claimed that Cantlay did not attend the gala dinner earlier in the week, despite photo evidence of him being there. He also failed to mention that Cantlay did not wear a hat during the 2021 Ryder Cup.

While Cantlay, teammates, and staffers have denied the reporting involving his hat, it became the overarching story during the 2023 Ryder Cup and was still a jumping-off point during the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black to push the idea that the American team room wasn't necessarily joined together.

The fact of the matter is that the only way this narrative that Scheffler and others have grown tired of disappears is by the U.S. team winning the Ryder Cup. A runaway victory this weekend in the Presidents Cup would help quiet the noise, but the real drama lies within the Ryder Cup.

The U.S. has lost six of the last eight Ryder Cups, including each of the last two, and will have its hands full in 2027 when it is contested in Ireland. The Americans have not hoisted the Ryder Cup on foreign soil since 1993.

Explosive new report puts Jack Smith back in hot seat as Jim Jordan alleges he tried to 'sway' 2024 election

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is accusing former special counsel Jack Smith and the former Biden administration of trying to "sway" the 2024 election with the Department of Justice (DOJ) probe into President Donald Trump and his allies.

Jordan's committee is releasing a new 57-page report arguing that Smith and his team "ran roughshod over key constitutional protections" and that the former Democratic White House used "the DOJ as a weapon against its political opponents."

"The Special Counsel’s prosecutors tried to silence President Trump with unlawful gag orders, threatened defense attorneys, mishandled key documents, and broke protocol to release a massive trove of alleged evidence just weeks before the presidential election to sway public opinion," the report said.

As many as 44 members of Congress in both the House and Senate had the contents of their text messages gathered by Smith's team, Republicans have said.

Jordan's report accused the prosecutors of willfully skirting legal processes to get that information in a bid to hide their intelligence gathering.

"Internal documents show that Arctic Frost investigators, and later Smith’s team, had only limited, perfunctory discussions with subject-matter experts in DOJ’s Public Integrity Section (PIN) about the constitutionality of these seizures," the report said. "Although PIN cautioned that the subpoenas could be unconstitutional, PIN approved them nonetheless, asserting there was little 'litigation risk' because the gag orders that accompanied the subpoenas would prevent Members from ever discovering the seizures. As a result, Members of Congress were unaware of the Biden-Harris DOJ’s spying for more than two years."

The report said investigators in the probe, colloquially known as "Arctic Frost," sought Jordan's own phone records from the period between August 2020 and January 2021 in relation to the federal probe into Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa.

PIN said lawmakers' constitutional protections under the Speech or Debate Clause did not apply "because the subpoena targeted his personal cell phone accounts, and because the subpoenas were served to a third party," i.e., Jordan's phone carrier rather than Jordan himself. An email excerpt showed PIN Deputy Chief Jennifer Clarke noted there was a "litigation risk" with the argument but "approved the subpoenas nonetheless," the report said.

A separate email excerpt in the report showed another PIN official, John Keller, also said there was a "litigation risk" in obtaining members of Congress' toll records but noted it would be "minimal" due to the low likelihood of those lawmakers facing federal charges.

Keller's email also noted the government had a "potentially meritorious argument that the calls over the relevant period — especially unsolicited incoming calls — would not constitute protected legislative acts."

The report also alleged that the DOJ ran afoul of its own rules by improperly using an independent watchdog office to serve Jordan's phone carrier when it significantly expanded what information it needed about him.

"On May 1, the DOJ issued a subpoena for Chairman Jordan’s phone records from January 1, 2020, to April 25, 2022—every call incoming and outgoing for more than two years.43 A Special Agent from the DOJ Office of the Inspector General (OIG)—an entity that should be independent of the DOJ and maintain a reporting relationship with Congress as it investigates waste, fraud, and abuse—served the subpoena to Chairman Jordan’s phone carrier," the report said.

OIG Special Agent Brian Burnett testified to the committee that the investigation as a whole was "unique" within his three decades of law enforcement experience in that he was following orders from an assistant U.S. attorney rather than investigating himself, the report alleged.

"A normal investigation would be, I would do the investigation, become familiar with everything, you know, do grand jury subpoenas, do the normal investigative process, follow the normal investigative steps. But, in this case, those steps were given to us by the prosecution team," an excerpt from Burnett's testimony showed.

Jordan's report also noted that Smith's team backed down from grand jury subpoenas sent to AT&T for two other lawmakers' phone records after the phone carrier questioned their legal basis.

"In May 2023, Special Counsel Smith sent AT&T a grand jury subpoena that included a request for phone records associated with AT&T accounts for two other members of Congress. However, when AT&T raised questions with ... Special Counsel Smith’s office concerning the legal basis for seeking records of members of Congress, the Special Counsel did not pursue the subpoena further, and no records were produced," a letter highlighted in the report said.

Smith testified to congressional investigators that he did not "have any recollection of that," the report said.

The report goes as far as to say Smith "admitted privately" to then-Attorney General Merrick Garland that lawmakers "likely have a valid Speech or Debate privilege immunizing them from compelled testimony," but that Garland still gave his "blessing" to Smith for subpoenas "compelling the production of Members’ protected legislative records."

Jordan reaffirmed past GOP-led probes' conclusions that prosecutors improperly bypassed a DOJ "filter team" process to obtain the 44 lawmakers' and Trump officials' records. Of those 44 lawmakers, two were Democrats.

In the report's conclusion, Jordan urged the House of Representatives to take up legislation led by Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., barring any government entity from obtaining records — whether by subpoena, court order, warrant, or otherwise — that is likely to implicate the Speech or Debate Clause.

The bill, the Congressional Records Protection Act, advanced through the House Judiciary Committee but has so far not gotten a House floor vote.

Jordan argued it would not just protect members of Congress but the people they serve, too.

"The Speech or Debate Clause protects not only legislators, but American citizens too. It guarantees that the people’s representatives in Congress may advocate effectively on their constituents’ behalf without the threat of interference or intimidation by the Executive Branch," the report argued.

Smith has so far stood by his team's findings and maintained his innocence amid a barrage of GOP attacks.

In his testimony to Republicans, he laid blame on Trump for prosecutors collecting GOP lawmakers' records.

"I think who should be accountable for this is Donald Trump. These records are people, in the case of the Senators, Donald Trump directed his co-conspirators to call these people to further delay the proceedings. He chose to do that. If Donald Trump had chosen to call a number of Democratic Senators, we would have gotten toll records for Democratic Senators. So responsibility for why these records, why we collected them...that lies with Donald Trump," Smith said in a report excerpt.

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom generated fierce online backlash after admitting the state's decision to close beaches amid the COVID-19 pandemic was "insane in hindsight" during an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper released this month.

"Look, everyone's a genius in hindsight, so, you know, coulda, woulda," Newsom told Tapper while fly-fishing in a Montana river.

When asked what he would have done differently, Newsom said people initially treated the pandemic like a "Purell-based crisis," spending too much time on hand sanitizer shortages and price gouging instead of the virus.

He added the beach closures are one of several decisions he regrets.

In a post on X, Republican former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt wrote, "No, Gavin. It was insane then. We all told you it was insane then. You knew it was insane then. You're just an insane person."

Newsom also attended an upscale dinner in November 2020 while imposing the restrictions, which many critics called hypocritical.

Fueled by frustration over his administration's handling of the pandemic and its economic fallout, Newsom, who was elected in 2018, faced a recall election in 2021 but ultimately won.

Newsom's admission comes as questions about COVID-era government decisions continue. In July, Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times when asked about the government's response while testifying before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

But examine the wreckage, and the truth is undeniable: the guts of those weapons are stamped "Made in China." Over 90% of the critical technology, microchips, and precursor chemicals fueling Russia’s defense industry are manufactured in Chinese factories. At the same time, Beijing serves as Moscow’s financial lifeline, guzzling Russian crude oil by the tanker-load and injecting tens of billions of dollars directly into the Kremlin’s treasury. Russia is pulling the trigger, but China is forging the bullets and filling the war chest.

In an overwhelming demonstration of bipartisan resolve in Washington, the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act was signed into law last week, arming the administration to bring decisive economic pressure against the war’s chief financiers and facilitators. With Chinese President Xi Jinping visiting the White House this week, President Donald Trump should make clear his intention to honor Sen. Graham’s legacy by vigorously implementing the bill — with an unblinking focus on Beijing.

For more than four years, the free world has watched the Kremlin escalate its brutal war of conquest. In the first half of 2026 alone, civilian casualties climbed 114% over 2024 levels, punctuated this summer by devastating strikes on apartment buildings, passenger trains and hospital first responders. But Russia cannot sustain this level of violence on its own. It is kept afloat — militarily and financially — by the deliberate backing of the People’s Republic of China.

EUROPE BANKROLLS PUTIN'S WAR MACHINE EVEN AS NATO RACES TO BOLSTER DEFENSES

The data behind China’s underwriting is staggering. Beijing supplies over 90% of the dual-use tools and components Russia requires to manufacture artillery shells, glide bombs and attack drones. Financially, Beijing has chosen to serve as the Kremlin’s chief banker. In August 2026 alone, China was the world’s largest purchaser of Russian fossil fuels — accounting for over half of all revenues from Russia’s top buyers and injecting over $9 billion into Moscow’s coffers in a single 30-day window. China’s seaborne crude imports surged over 60% compared to last summer, much of it ferried by an illicit shadow fleet that flouts international maritime standards.

Beijing cannot claim to be a neutral arbiter of peace while functioning as the quartermaster and cash register for Vladimir Putin’s war.

The recently enacted sanctions package directly addresses this hypocrisy. It equips the United States to penalize major purchasers of Russian energy, shut down financial intermediaries laundering illicit transactions and sever the $100 billion shadow-fleet lifeline keeping the Russian war economy solvent.

Skeptics may claim that economic pressure will not move Beijing, but the record proves otherwise. When Washington backs rhetoric with credible secondary sanctions, Chinese behavior shifts. Major Chinese state-owned commercial banks repeatedly froze payment processing for Russian transactions out of self-preservation, terrified of exclusion from the U.S. dollar clearing system. Beijing talks defiance, but its commercial leaders understand that preserving access to Western capital and markets far outweighs the benefits of propping up an isolated pariah state.

The Ukrainians understand this well. During our travels to Ukraine this year, the consistent plea we heard from officials on the ground was to secure these sanctions into law. Republicans and Democrats came together across chambers to move this legislation, and President Trump rightly signed it last week. Now its tools need to be harnessed to help end this brutal war.

We recognize the delicate terrain confronting the White House. Beijing has weaponized its near monopoly on critical minerals, tightening export restrictions on rare earths and magnets to threaten American industries. Some in the administration may counsel caution, fearing Chinese retaliation. But backing down guarantees Beijing will continue holding our supply chains hostage while arming our adversaries.

The state of driving with gas prices soaring

– Will in Mississippi reports: To answer the question from Harvey D. about driving habits and gas prices, I drive between 1000 and 1100 miles per week for work in the northern half of Mississippi. I drive a company pickup so I don't worry about the price of gas for it. A lot of my driving is on the Interstates so I see a lot of 18 wheelers who's fuel costs get passed to the consumers of whatever they are carrying. As far as seeing non-commercial vehicles, I haven't seen much of a decrease in that volume of vehicles or a change in the speed they drive at.

I think any decrease in the last month or so is probably due to summer ending and less people on vacation or family trips. I usually set my cruise about 7 MPH over the speed limit. I get passed about as much as I pass other vehicles.

As far as driving my personal vehicle, I normally drive it only on the weekends for local trips (grocery store or general shopping) so I don't worry too much about the price of gas since a tank of gas will last me about a month unless I go to see my Mom in the assisted living facility that she lives at.

In response to Harvey D regarding less traffic due to high gas prices, the answer in South Florida is a resounding "hell no". My 10 mile commute to work still takes 45 minutes to an hour...each way.

– Eric P. says: In response to the Packer game.. Unless it changed, after the game, the traffic is all one way out of the stadium area and backed up for well over an hour. We rented a car and parked close to the stadium in someones yard and in the time it took to get to our hotel, Holiday Inn Express a couple miles away, we could have walked there 5 times. The stadium, fans , game experience is worth every penny especially the fans. I hd someone standing behind me in line; saw my Seahawk shirt and insisted he buy me a 16.00 beer. I’ve been to a lot of stadiums and that would not happen at any of the others.

Gemini says that hotels have a whole building fan operation that is sucking air from hotel bathrooms, but then Millennial Chris B. in Bowling Green, who was staying in a Cleveland hotel last night, stuck a tissue up to the bathroom vent and nothing.

The tissue fell to the floor. No suction.

'Lioness' star weighs in on what drove Taylor Sheridan's unexpected decision for her character

"Lioness" star Elizaveta Neretin reacted to Taylor Sheridan's bombshell season 3 finale, which saw her character, Oleksandra Balakin, killed off.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Neretin — who played the Ukrainian double agent — said she expected Oleksandra's fate. The character had been captured by American forces and recruited to help rescue Joe (Zoe Saldaña) after she was kidnapped.

In the episode, which aired Sunday night, Oleksandra was killed.

"I thought it was going to happen. So when he called, and he told me, I was like, 'Yeah, I get it.' I'm sad for Oleksandra and what Oleksandra represents, but I understand the choice. It does serve this. It serves to show how the whole system is. Like American or not American, the whole system and the people that work in the system. It's all sharks, you know, so it just demonstrates how people are," she told Fox News Digital.

Neretin said she would have preferred a different outcome for Oleksandra but understood why Sheridan made the decision.

"I would love a different ending for her, but like I said, I understand why it had to happen. But, of course, I would have a good ending for her. I just wonder if being a triple agent, I think your days are numbered. I don't think you can pull that off and live to an old age unless you give up on family you have, which I don't think she would."

"If you give up on the family you have, perhaps you could find a way to hide somewhere, you know what I mean? But the way she fights for her country, I think she cares way too much, way more about that outcome than her life. I think that she made that decision a long time ago," Neretin said.

The actress said she never asked Sheridan whether he had considered an alternative ending for Oleksandra. Instead, she trusted his creative judgment and did not try to challenge him while working on the series.

"No, I didn't challenge him. I just remember he shortened Oleksandra's name a certain way, and I just suggested, I was like, 'By the way, the short version of Oleksandra in Ukrainian is Alessa.' And he was like, 'Yeah, that works,'" she began. "I didn't challenge him, it was very interesting, like he runs the show, you know what I mean? He's the boss."

Nicole Kidman, who plays Kaitlyn in "Lioness," was also asked whether her character felt remorse over Oleksandra's death during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"She absolutely has a moral code and conscience, but she always weighs it up against cost. At the same time, she’s not mired down in regret. Because otherwise she can’t do her job; she’s rendered inactive and vulnerable then," Kidman told the outlet.

Neretin also described Sheridan's writing and production process as an interesting experience.

"So we don't have all the episodes right away. So that was an interesting process. Because this is my first big role, I didn't know that that's how he worked. So that part was interesting because I didn't know. And it's like, you're waiting, and it feels like Christmas every time the episode drops. You're like, ‘Oh my God.’ And that's all we talk about on set the next day, everybody's like, 'Oh my gosh, did you see this?' Yeah, people have bets going what's gonna happen," she said.

A fourth season of "Lioness" has not been confirmed, but Kidman believes Kaitlyn's story could take many different paths if the series returns.

"There’s a lot. We’ll see where it goes, if we get to make a fourth season. It’s just so rich that there’s so many different paths that you can go down. The first season, you’re establishing everything, and the beauty of getting to do multiple seasons is that it becomes more deeper, richer, more complex. Taylor is such a strong writer that he can take things anywhere," she said.

New Jersey police pull out 3-foot python from woman's car grille, bodycam video shows

A New Jersey woman got a slithery surprise when she returned home from a wheel alignment and discovered a 3-foot python wedged inside the front grille of her car — prompting police to dismantle part of the vehicle to free the reptile.

Aiyana Hudson made the startling discovery on Sept. 14 in Franklin Township and called police for help, according to WABC-TV.

Body camera footage showed responding officers inspecting the car and working to determine how to safely remove the snake.

Officer Lisseth Villacis told the outlet that police initially contacted animal control but were told the agency only handled domesticated animals.

"We tried getting animal control out there, and they're like, they only deal with domesticated animals," Villacis said. "And we're like, oh shoot. OK. So, we're kind of like the last resort."

Officers then took matters into their own hands, removing parts of the vehicle, including the front bumper, to reach the trapped reptile, as seen in the footage.

After about 20 minutes, police managed to untangle and safely free the snake, which animal control officials identified as a 3-foot ball python.

Hudson said she was relieved the unexpected passenger never found its way inside the vehicle while she was in it.

"I was just really happy that it didn't, like, pop its head through the AC vent when I was driving or come in through the steering wheel," Hudson told the outlet. "I want to let you know my car would have been lit on fire, and we'd be calling the fire department at that point."

How the python ended up in the grille remains unclear.

The snake was unharmed and taken to the Franklin Township Animal Shelter, according to MyCentralJersey.com.

Franklin Township Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks also reminded residents that releasing exotic pets into the wild is illegal and can pose a threat to native wildlife and household pets. Residents who have pet snakes and can no longer care for them should surrender it to the township animal shelter, he said.
