Fox News Digital leads in unique visitors, other key metrics against CNN, NY Times during August

Fox News Digital closed the summer trouncing other news organizations across key metrics, including in unique visitors.

During the month of August 2026, Fox News Digital reached 76 million unique visitors on desktop and mobile devices, leading the metric for four months straight, according to Comscore. CBS News came in second 70 million unique visitors, followed by NBC News' 65 million, The New York Times' 63 million, CNN's 56 million and ABC News' 29 million.

Fox News Digital maintained its dominance in multiplatform views and multiplatform minutes last month, reaching 1.47 billion and 3.2 billion respectively. The New York Times trailed in second with 1.27 billion multiplatform views and 1 billion multiplatform minutes. CNN trailed even further with 415 million multiplatform views and 647 million multiplatform minutes.

August 2026 marked Fox News Digital's 28th consecutive month as the top news brand in multiplatform views and the 66th consecutive month in multiplatform minutes.

Fox News also maintained its status as the most engaged news brand across social media for the 144th consecutive month, totaling a whopping 85 million interactions, according to Emplifi and Comscore Social. More than 26 million of those interactions came from Facebook, 14.5 million were on Instagram and 4.7 million came from X.

On TikTok, Fox News notched more than 39 million interactions, a staggering 80% increase from last year.

King Charles responds to Charles Spencer's claims about Princess Diana in a rare statement

King Charles responded to claims made about him in Charles Spencer's upcoming book in an unusual move.

The Daily Mail published an excerpt of Spencer's upcoming memoir, "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister," on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in which the King's former brother-in-law alleged a heated conversation he had with Charles following the death of his sister and the former Princess of Wales, Princess Diana.

"Prince Charles continued his stream of anger, without me interrupting. Then he stopped. I assumed the pause signaled an effort to bring himself under control, but then he unleashed down the phone what I have always taken to be his pent-up contempt for Diana, and his horror that the world was so bowled over by her death," Spencer alleged, according to the Daily Mail. " ‘Rest assured,’ he hissed, ‘we’ll forget her soon enough!’"

According to the excerpt, the disagreement between King Charles and the 9th Earl of Spencer was regarding the decision to have Prince William and Prince Harry, then 15 and 12, walk behind their mother's casket during the funeral procession.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson issued a rare statement on behalf of the King responding to Spencer's claims.

"While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and color memory in ways others do not recognize, even many years after such a loss," the statement read, per People.

Princess Diana died in August 1997 at age 36 after suffering injuries sustained following a car accident in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France. Her partner, Dodi Fayed, and the driver, Henri Paul, also died in the crash.

At the time of her death, she and King Charles had been divorced for one year. The two married in July 1981, announced their separation in December 1992 and finalized their divorce in August 1996.

Prince Harry wrote about the decision to have him and his brother walk behind their mother's coffin in his 2023 memoir, "Spare," writing that "several adults were aghast" and that "mummy’s brother, Uncle Charles, raised hell," and that he told the royal family, "You can’t make these boys walk behind their mother’s coffin! It’s barbaric."

This is not the first time Spencer has spoken about his opposition to the boys walking behind their mother's coffin. He told BBC Radio 4’s Today in 2017 that he found the decision "bizarre and cruel."

"It was the most horrifying half an hour of my life," he said. "It was just ghastly. And it was far worse than having to deliver a speech at the end of it. It was the worst part of the day by a considerable margin, walking behind, well, my sister’s body, with two boys who were obviously massively grieving their mother."

"And it was this sort of bizarre circumstance where we told you had to look straight ahead," he continued. "But the feeling, the sort of crashing tidal wave of grief coming at you as you went down this sort of tunnel of deep emotion, it was really harrowing actually and I still have nightmares about it now."

Chase Briscoe says deer hunting gives him a bigger rush than driving 200 mph in NASCAR

Chase Briscoe has spent years chasing adrenaline at nearly 200 miles per hour. Apparently, that still isn’t enough.

The NASCAR driver says deer hunting now gives him a rush that rivals — and may even surpass — anything he feels behind the wheel.

"It’s the closest thing I’ve ever been able to come to racing, and honestly, I feel like it’s surpassed racing," Briscoe told OutKick OutDoors.

That might sound like a bold statement coming from a NASCAR driver, but Briscoe says the explanation is actually pretty simple: racing has become normal.

"You know, the racing deal, I do it so often," he said. "We race 38 weekends a year that, truthfully, the adrenaline kind of goes away because you do it all the time.

"Getting to go hunting and getting to feel that adrenaline is like this drug that I can’t get rid of."

Briscoe, who drives the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota, didn’t grow up as a diehard hunter. His love of the outdoors started instead around his grandfather’s pond back home in Indiana.

"Ever since I was a little kid, I remember we would go over there every Sunday and would just spend time outside, out by the pond fishing," he said.

As he got older, fishing became a regular part of life with his friends.

"Especially in my high school years, that was all me and my buddies would do," Briscoe said. "We would go find other little farm ponds or go to creeks or wherever and just go fishing."

Hunting came later.

After moving to North Carolina, Briscoe and his family bought roughly 30 acres that happened to be loaded with deer. A few years ago, he finally decided to give hunting a try.

He was hooked almost immediately.

"I went for the first time and just fell in love with it," he said.

Part of the appeal is the rush. But part of it is the exact opposite.

Briscoe and his wife, Marissa, have three children, and the NASCAR calendar doesn’t exactly leave much room for peace and quiet.

"For me, it’s been just an amazing getaway," he said. "Just to kind of be able to get out in the outdoors and start my morning and just watch the sun come up, or just go out there and be by myself."

He added: "We have three kids, and then obviously the chaos of just my career. You don’t get a lot of time just to yourself."

For Chase Briscoe, hunting is a family affair

These days, though, Briscoe doesn’t always hunt alone.

His four-year-old son Brooks has caught the bug, too — perhaps even worse than his dad.

"Brooks is ate up with it," Briscoe said.

North Carolina’s deer season had just begun when Briscoe spoke with OutKick OutDoors, and the two had already been discussing their plans.

"Last night we were talking about it," Briscoe said. "I said, ‘Hey, tomorrow deer season starts. I won’t be home, but Monday maybe you can go with me.’ And he was jumping up and down."

Then Briscoe remembered another conversation from about a month and a half earlier.

"We were just driving down the road, and he said, ‘Hey Dad, I want to talk to you about something,’" Briscoe recalled. "I was like, ‘Okay.’ He’s only 4, and he said, ‘I think this year I’m just gonna just shoot bucks this year. No more does.’"

Briscoe laughed.

"I’m like, ‘Okay, buddy. That sounds like a plan.’"

Brooks has reason to be confident.

The very first time he ever went hunting with his dad, he got a buck.

"It was a total, like, one of those Hollywood stories, I guess," Briscoe said. "Literally the first time he ever went out there with me, he got a buck.

"Not that it was — I mean, it was a tiny little four-pointer — but for him, it was his first experience going out there, and he got to do it."

Brooks helped his dad sight in the rifle and pull the trigger. The following season, Briscoe said his son took another step.

"Last year, he got a doe on his own," he said. "Like, actually lined it up. I mean, I helped him, obviously — he’s 4 — but he got it right on the crosshairs and pulled the trigger."

For comparison, Briscoe said it took him about a year and a half to get his first buck.

"He definitely was beating me already."

But for Briscoe, getting his kids into the outdoors isn’t really about who shoots the biggest buck or catches the biggest fish.

It’s about the time spent together.

"There’s so many distractions in today’s world with phones and tablets and TV and just everything else," Briscoe said. "For me to be able to get them outside and just get away from all those distractions. You get to spend one-on-one time and just make a lot of great memories."

Those memories matter to Briscoe because he still carries his own from childhood.

"I remember going fishing with my grandpa, and some of those memories are some of my favorite memories as a kid," he said.

Now he gets to experience that from the other side.

"To be able to be the one that’s taking my son out there and letting him have these amazing memories — he’ll always remember catching a big bass or getting that big buck," Briscoe said. "That’s just one of those core memories that you never forget."

Go West, Briscoes

Briscoe is still relatively new to hunting compared to lifelong outdoorsmen, but he’s already thinking about what comes next.

"I would love to do an elk hunt," he said. "I’ve been able to do a lot of really cool whitetail hunts. Even last year, I got to go to South Texas — now two years in a row — and I’ve loved that. But I would love to go out west and do an elk hunt or even a mule deer hunt."

The different terrain and challenge appeal to him, particularly the idea of getting close to an elk with a bow.

"Going archery hunting for an elk, I just find that so fascinating," Briscoe said. "I think that would be one of the coolest things to do, is get an elk and get one that close."

The hiking part? Maybe slightly less appealing.

"I don’t know if I would enjoy that part as much," he joked.

Still, Briscoe hopes he gets the chance someday.

"He would have the energy too, to be hiking and walking around all the time," Briscoe said. "So yeah, if we get to do it one day, maybe he’ll go with me."

Democrats embraced AI’s growth before Trump came along — now they want to slow it down

Some of the Democratic Party’s most prominent voices are pushing for tighter limits on artificial intelligence, including former President Barack Obama, who has joined calls for a slower pace of frontier AI development after years of Democratic leaders touting the technology’s economic and strategic potential.

"We need government – and specifically our leaders in Washington – to get proactive in coming up with concrete proposals, laws and regulations that deal with serious safety concerns, anticipate AI’s impact on jobs and our kids, and make sure that AI’s benefits are widely spread," Obama said in a statement Monday night.

Obama’s latest comments put greater emphasis on slowing frontier AI development than his White House did in 2016, when his administration highlighted the technology’s economic potential while also warning about disruption and calling for policy responses. Democrats have long paired enthusiasm for AI’s economic and strategic potential with warnings about its risks, but some of the party’s most prominent voices are now going further — calling for a slower pace of frontier AI development and tougher limits on how the technology is built and deployed.

Attorney General Todd Blanche argued Tuesday that Democrats’ renewed focus on the potential risks of artificial intelligence should not be treated as "breaking news," suggesting the timing, months before the midterm elections, is politically significant.

"Every Democrat senator suddenly races to a microphone to talk about AI after being eerily silent for months and months, a month. So to talk about the timing of this as being nothing but an effort to influence the midterms, I shouldn't have to say that out loud, of course, that what it is what it is," said Blanche.

The comments came as President Donald Trump has made rapid AI development and the data centers needed to power it a priority, while the administration promotes the technology’s potential economic benefits and faces growing political scrutiny over the cost and impact of expanding data-center infrastructure.

Obama issued a statement Monday on X, writing that AI is "moving at lightning speed – and even faster than those who are engineering it can keep up with."

"Given what we know about technology, we can’t stuff AI back in a box. But we can collectively determine how it's developed and how it’s used, rather than sitting back and letting AI and its fallout happen to us," he wrote.

He called for regulation, saying, choices to slow down should not be left up to the tech companies.

Any "potential catastrophe will depend on the choices that we make right now," said Obama.

Back in 2016, Obama’s White House touted AI’s potential to open new markets and drive progress across industries while warning about job disruption and broader safety and policy challenges.

"Advances in AI technology hold incredible potential to help the United States stay on the cutting edge of innovation," the White House said in its December 2016 Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and the Economy report.

"Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and related fields have opened up new markets and new opportunities for progress in critical areas such as health, education, energy, economic inclusion, social welfare, and the environment … AI should be welcomed for its potential economic benefits," the report added.

Similarly, then-Vice President Kamala Harris said in January 2025 that "it is imperative that the United States remain the global leader on AI" as the Biden administration moved to speed up the buildout needed to support large-scale AI operations.

The Biden administration announced an executive order on Jan. 14 aimed at accelerating AI infrastructure in the U.S., including large data centers and clean-energy projects, as the administration sought to keep the country ahead of its global competitors.

Harris has also recently called for slowing the pace of frontier AI development, arguing that the technology is advancing at an "alarming speed" and urging Congress to establish stronger oversight and safety standards.

"The frontier of artificial intelligence is advancing at an alarming speed. Over the weekend, industry leaders voiced support for an idea that the American people and many AI researchers in their own labs have been calling for: We must responsibly slow the pace of frontier AI development," she wrote.

AI and data centers have quickly become a major midterm issue, as concerns over electricity costs, jobs and the rapid buildout draw increasing attention from candidates in both parties.

Fox News Poll: Squeezed by costs, frustrated voters turn to the Democrats

Roughly three-quarters of voters have rated economic conditions negatively for the past year, and more than three times as many say they are falling behind financially as getting ahead, according to a Fox News survey released Wednesday. And by a wide margin, the Democrats are considered the party that would better handle inflation — at a time when the cost of living and the economy are voters’ top concerns.

Costs of everyday items are a hardship for voters: 61% say gas prices are a major problem, up from 48% two years ago, while 52% say the same for healthcare costs, up from 44%. Majorities also view housing costs (54%, down from 60%) and grocery prices (62%, down from 66%) as major problems.

FOX NEWS POLL: VOTERS OPPOSE THE IRAN WAR, SEE PROLONGED COMMITMENT

Views on tariffs have grown more negative since last summer, with a high of 64% saying tariffs hurt the U.S. economy, up from 57%. Most Democrats and independents say tariffs hurt, while views among Republicans are mixed (41% help, 36% hurt, 21% no difference).

Overall, nearly two-thirds of voters (63%) say the Trump administration has made the economy worse, including a quarter of Republicans.

All of this contributes to greater pessimism about the future. The portion saying life will be worse for the next generation has risen from 53% two years ago to 62% last year and 68% today, just two points below the high of 70% in 2022.

Only 8% are enthusiastic about how the government is working, with another 23% satisfied. A 68% majority is unhappy, including a high of 33% who are "angry" — driven by 56% of Democrats and 36% of independents vs. just 9% of Republicans.

Despite these economic headwinds and with 48 days until Election Day, maybe the good news for the Republicans is that the Democrats' advantage on the congressional ballot has stayed in the single digits. If the election were today, 51% say they would back the Democratic candidate in their House district and 44% the Republican. The Democrats’ 7-point edge is just outside the survey’s margin of sampling error. Since January, the Democrats have been preferred by 5-7 points.

Women, those under age 35, Hispanic voters, and Whites with a college degree give Democrats their edge, while White men and non-college Whites are strengths for the GOP.

Party loyalty slightly favors the Democrats, as more of them (97%) than Republicans (92%) support their party’s candidate. Independents favor the Democratic candidate 53-31%, with 14% undecided.

Higher engagement boosts Democrats: 64% are extremely interested in the election compared to 53% of Republicans (+11 D margin). And more Democrats (71%) than Republicans (65%) rate their likelihood of voting as a 10 on a 10-point scale, meaning they feel certain they will vote (+6 D margin).

Among those certain to vote (10s), the Democrats’ lead in the generic ballot grows to 11 points (54-43%).

The edge holds among those in "close" counties, where the 2024 presidential vote between President Trump and former Vice President Harris was within 10 points; the Democratic candidate is favored by 9 points, 52-43%.

"When pundits and analysts talk about the fundamentals favoring the Democrats in this midterm, they are mostly referring to the economy," says Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who conducts the Fox News Poll with Democratic pollster Chris Anderson. "Time is running out for the administration and its supporters to convince voters that things are improving."

Those with a negative view of both the Democratic and the Republican Party ("double haters") favor the Democratic candidate in their district by a 26-point margin.

Voters trust Democrats on most issues in the survey: inflation (by 15 points), large AI data centers (+14), corruption (+11), and foreign policy (+10). The parties are about evenly rated on immigration (R +1).

Prior to this summer, the Republicans held a four-year advantage on immigration, and they led on foreign policy until January of this year. Four years ago, Republicans were preferred by 9 points on inflation.

Democrats have improved their ratings on inflation by 5 points just since July.

Voters trusting Democrats on inflation are more likely to attribute this to Republican failures (51%) than confidence that Democratic policies are likely to reduce prices (47%).

Those views contribute to Trump’s 39% job approval (61% disapprove). His approval has not exceeded 39% since April, when it stood at 42%. His current rating trails former President Biden’s 43% at this point in 2022 and aligns with former President Obama’s 38% before the 2014 midterms. Trump received 43% approval on immigration, 37% on foreign policy (one point above his record low), and 24% on inflation (matching a previous low).

Trump’s standing puts him in a difficult spot to help GOP candidates this year. He lags his party in popularity, holding a 24-point net negative favorability rating (38-62%), unchanged since July.

Sixty percent of voters think the U.S. made the wrong decision in taking military action against Iran, and 77% of that group favor the Democratic candidate in their district.

Four years ago, more voters said a Trump endorsement made them less likely to support a candidate by a 15-point margin. Today, that’s a 26-point gap (25% more likely, 51% less likely).

Still, Trump’s approval matters within the GOP: 52% of Republicans and 75% of MAGA Republicans say it increases their support.

In addition, 53% say the Trump administration is more corrupt than previous administrations compared to 26% who say it is less corrupt.

Both major parties are viewed negatively: the Democratic Party is underwater by 11 points (44% favorable, 55% unfavorable) and the Republican Party by 17 (41-58%).

Nearly two-thirds support raising taxes on the wealthy to expand government programs (65%) and redistribute wealth (63%). However, 52% disagree with increasing taxes on the wealthy so that "nobody gets too rich."

Still, dissatisfaction with capitalism has grown. Fifty-seven percent say the way capitalism works in the U.S. these days doesn’t give people a fair shot, up from 42% in 2019. That shift spans political views, increasing among Democrats (by 17 points), Republicans (+13), and independents (+22).

Poll-pourri

When asked what the most important issue is facing the country unprompted by a list, 34% of voters say the cost of living and 14% say the economy/jobs. The next closest are immigration (8%) and Republicans/Trump/MAGA (7%). Only a handful mention issues like the war with Iran (4%), corruption (4%), healthcare (4%), or AI/data centers (1%).

MAGA holds a 5-point favorability edge compared with the Democratic Socialists of America (35% vs. 30%), although 15% are unable to rate the DSA. Nearly 3 in 10 Democrats view the DSA negatively, and 3 in 10 Republicans view MAGA negatively.

Overall, 59% view labor unions favorably, including 48% of Republicans and 73% of Democrats.

Eighty-one percent of voters favor banning Congress members and their immediate family and staff from trading stocks (up from 75% in January), including 8 in 10 Democrats, Republicans, and independents.

Conducted September 11-14, 2026, under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News survey includes interviews with a sample of 1,211 registered voters randomly selected from a national voter file. US-backed Israel-Morocco deal deepens Abraham Accords amid growing regional threats

NEW YORK — Israel and Morocco agreed Wednesday to upgrade their diplomatic missions to full embassies and exchange ambassadors nearly six years after Morocco joined the U.S.-brokered normalization drive that reshaped Israel’s relations with parts of the Arab world.

The agreement came during a trilateral meeting in New York between U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, one day after officials marked the sixth anniversary of the Abraham Accords.

The original accords were signed by Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on Sept. 15, 2020. Morocco followed through with a separate U.S.-Morocco-Israel Joint Declaration signed in Rabat on Dec. 22, 2020, restoring official contacts and committing the countries to move toward full diplomatic relations, direct flights and expanded economic cooperation.

Wednesday's agreement advances several of those commitments. Israel and Morocco agreed to establish full embassies and exchange ambassadors, reinstate direct flights by both Israeli and Moroccan airlines before the end of 2026 and finalize agreements on investment protection and avoidance of double taxation.

The countries also pledged to expand cooperation in trade, finance, technology, tourism, water, agriculture, food security, energy, telecommunications and regional security, according to a Sept. 16 joint statement.

The statement also reaffirmed U.S. and Israeli recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and support for Morocco's autonomy proposal as the basis for resolving the territorial dispute.

But the discussion quickly widened beyond Morocco to whether the normalization framework could eventually include Saudi Arabia.

Asked by Fox News Digital whether Saudi Arabia could be the next country to join the Abraham Accords — amid reports of growing Israeli-Saudi security cooperation against the Iran-backed Houthis — Waltz focused on the regional threat posed by the Houthis and their attacks on international shipping.

"The scourge of terrorism from them is unacceptable to the entire region," Waltz said. "They continue to act as a proxy of the Iranian regime.

The comments come as the Houthis have made major gains along Yemen's Red Sea coast near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Reuters reported Sept. 16 that the offensive has exposed new vulnerabilities for Saudi Arabia and strengthened Iran's regional leverage.

The 18-mile-wide Bab el-Mandeb links the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and carries roughly 7% of global oil output. Houthi attacks beginning in 2023 forced major shipping companies to reroute vessels around Africa, increasing costs and transit times.

Sa’ar said the threats at Bab el-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz demonstrated why countries with shared interests should cooperate.

"What’s happening in Bab al-Mandab, like what's happened in Strait of Hormuz, demonstrates the significance of all nations that want to respect freedom of navigation, world trade and cooperate against this kind of modern piracy," Sa’ar said.

He declined to elaborate on any operational cooperation involving Saudi Arabia but made clear Israel wants the normalization framework expanded.

"It is clear that we would like this camp to be widened," Sa’ar told Fox News Digital.

Bourita, meanwhile, said Morocco's experience demonstrates that relations with Israel can also give Arab governments practical tools to help Palestinians.

"We can help the Palestinians, humanitarianly, because we have these relations with Israel," Bourita said.

During the Gaza war, Morocco used its ties with Israel to secure a land route for 40 tons of humanitarian assistance into northern Gaza in March 2024.

"Is it better to continue in the rhetorics, political positions, while sitting in our cities, our capitals or take initiatives?" Bourita asked.

"We don't agree with Israel 100%. Each one may have its policy," he said, arguing that Morocco uses the "Abraham Accords spirit" to "promote peace" and "promote stability in the region."

Bourita also pointed to Morocco's participation in Gaza stabilization efforts.

"I think it needs courage to contribute to peace," he said. "And it's easier to keep on making statements and engaging in rhetorics."

Waltz echoed that argument, praising Morocco's humanitarian work and its role in postwar Gaza efforts.

Hiker in Colorado takes trip to the hospital after being kicked in the back by a moose

A man from Westerly, Rhode Island was out on a family hike in Colorado a couple of weeks ago when he, his wife and his son came face-to-face with a momma moose and her baby.

Dean and Rosemary Felicetti were in Colorado visiting their son Gabriel when they decided to go on a hike, reports WJAR. They visited a lake and had their feet in the water before heading back.

As they were making their way down the trail so they could go out for Rosemary's birthday dinner, the couple's son alerted them to the moose ahead.

"He's like, 'Just don't turn your back. Don't run,'" Dean said. "And so we just started backing up, and a baby moose comes off the switchback towards us."

That's when the family hike became the scariest moment of their lives. Right behind the baby moose was momma moose, and she wasn't there to play around with the family. She charged at them immediately.

Dean took a trip to the emergency room and had survived the ordeal with only cuts, bruises and a hoof print on his shirt. The couple doesn't blame the moose for kicking their butts.

The murder of 29-year-old Mississippi woman Tasia Fortune has shocked the nation, and many rushed to claim she was the victim of a hate crime.

The media continue to obscure the facts that dispel the narrative even after the arrest of her suspected killer.

The mother of four was found hanging from a tree outside an abandoned home in Jackson, Mississippi, last month, and her death was described by Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts as one of several "modern-day lynchings" based on a string of incidents involving Black people being found in a similar manner despite the lack of evidence to support their declaration.

On Friday, 51-year-old Jarques Ratliff, who is also Black, was charged with Fortune's murder. He entered a not guilty plea Monday.

Yet the breaking news coverage of Ratliff's arrest put emphasis on Fortune's race but not his.

"Police in Jackson, Mississippi, have arrested a man in the case of Tasia Fortune, the 29-year-old Black woman found hanging from a tree outside an abandoned house last month, following the state medical examiner ruling her death a homicide," CNN began its report Friday and similarly posted on X.

Readers would not know Ratliff's race until they saw his mugshot, which was placed below the sixth paragraph of the story.

In a separate story from Monday about his not guilty plea, CNN again described Fortune as being Black while not giving the same descriptor of her alleged killer — this time burying his mugshot nearly 20 paragraphs deep.

"A man has been arrested in the killing of Tasia Fortune, a Black woman found hanging from a tree in Mississippi last month," NBC News similarly wrote while omitting Ratliff's race.

Notably, neither NBC News' breaking news report of Ratliff's arrest nor its report on his not guilty plea included his mugshot.

ARREST RIPS APART MEDIA NARRATIVE ON DEATH OF BLACK WOMAN FOUND HANGING FROM MISSISSIPPI TREE

ABC News' initial report of Ratliff's arrest failed to even identify his name.

"A man has been arrested and will be charged with homicide in connection with the death of a 29-year-old Black woman whose body was found hanging from a tree in Mississippi last month, police announced Friday," ABC News wrote.

However, the Disney-owned network acknowledged Ratliff's name and race in its follow-up report published Monday.

The Associated Press also scrubbed Ratliff's race from its initial reporting, writing, "Mississippi police have arrested a man in the death of Tasia Fortune, a Black woman found hanging from a tree last month."

The AP would later acknowledge his race in Monday's report.

Additionally, USA Today initially refrained from identifying Ratliff's race, beginning its report by telling readers, "A man was arrested Friday, Sept. 11, in connection with the hanging death of a Mississippi Black woman, Jackson police announced," later highlighting how the discovery of her body "was followed by calls for an investigation, including from prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump."

Like other outlets, the paper later acknowledged his race on Monday.

A spokesperson for USA Today told Fox News Digital it stands by its initial report, saying it relied on information disclosed by authorities at the time and that its policy is to only publish mugshots "only when the suspect is particularly notable or poses a risk to the community. Ratliff was already apprehended, so neither condition applied."

Reporter for The Athletic fumes over Arch Manning, silent on Josh Jacobs' alleged violence against woman

On Wednesday, The Athletic posted an op-ed fuming over Arch Manning and Steve Sarkisian.

"Did Arch Manning, Steve Sarkisian and cackling reporters act this way? It can’t be real," Candace Buckner wrote in a headline.

Buckner is referring to Manning citing an AI video earlier this week of Sarkisian slapping ESPN reporter Holly Rowe, which he and the reporters in the room found funny. On Saturday, Sarkisian blew up Rowe during a post-game interview.

Manning has since apologized. Rowe said she accepted the apology.

Evidently, Buckner did not.

"I can’t tell which is worse: the phony clip depicting violence against a woman, or the real-life behavior displayed by Sarkisian, then Manning and a room of media members? Before they could edit themselves and add a glossy filter to their apologies, they showed the sordid bits of their individual characters for all to see," she wrote.

For the record, Manning finding the AI-generated clip funny says nothing about his character.

Even if you agree that he should have apologized – if, for nothing else, to mitigate the distraction – his comments are not worth the level of outrage Buckner is exhibiting.

It's also notable that Buckner is showing such fury over Manning, Sarkisian, and reporters over their treatment of women, but not Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs.

From what we can tell, Buckner has not penned a single article about Jacobs, who is facing a felony charge for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend.

Not a word.

Why is that?

Why would a sports reporter for The Athletic show more disgust over a player joking about a meme hitting a woman than a player who was arrested and put on the NFL Commissioner's Exemption list for allegedly hitting women?

We had hoped to find that answer. OutKick contacted The Athletic for comment and to see if we could speak to Candace Buckner for this article. The outlet did not respond.

We will update this story if we hear from either The Athletic or Buckner.

The Athletic's coverage disparity follows a familiar trend in sports media, in which reporters and commentators treat word crimes more seriously than violent crimes.

Likewise, they were as silent as they were with Jacobs when various players were arrested and charged with serious violent crimes, often against women.

In fact, there was more outrage over Butker's remarks than when his teammate, Rashee Rice, crashed into a car with a young woman and her child, driving 119 mph and fleeing the scene.

Imagine that.

Would-be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks had Snapchat, which may hold evidence 'treasure trove': former FBI agent

Newly released FBI files turned over to the Senate reveal a Snapchat account tied to Thomas Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump.

The federal documents turned over to the Senate, first reported by the New York Post, revealed that FBI agents located a Snapchat account belonging to Crooks with the username "tom_crooks19."

Crooks killed one person and seriously injured two others during his attempt to assassinate Trump July 13, 2024.

According to the FBI documents, an Amazon account was also located. Crooks also had an account with Mailfence, an encrypted email service, which the documents say he logged into multiple times between April 15, 2024, and July 8, 2024. He also used a Gmail account.

Retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack told Fox News Digital the Snapchat account may hold a "treasure trove" of evidence.

"When you snap and that picture goes away that everything is gone, and that's not true. When I've served search warrants, there's been a treasure trove of information that has come back," Pack said. "It's not like some people think when you've snapped, and then it goes away, it's totally gone. That's not entirely the case."

"What you do see is a pattern of trying to hide things and using aliases. And, so, if he's taking that much care to publicly not be seen picking up deliveries and those types of things, you have to assume he's probably taken just as much diligence with his social media and with his digital footprint," he said.

OXFORD, Miss. — The upcoming showdown between LSU and Ole Miss already carried plenty of tension. On Tuesday afternoon, however, the rivalry received another jolt outside LSU’s football facility.

In a lawsuit filed this past July, the Ole Miss athletic department is currently suing former players, and current LSU Tigers, Devin Harper and Princewill Umanmielen, on charges of breach of contract tied to their exit from Oxford following the departure of head coach Lane Kiffin.

Both players ended up transferring to LSU this past offseason, which came after participating in the College Football Playoff with Ole Miss.

The school alleges in their lawsuit against the two players that they were both obligated to pay contract buyouts, which totaled $950,000 between the pair. Over the previous months leading up to the lawsuit being filed, Ole Miss officials say that they tried to reach a settlement with both athletes, with both athletes having a buyout clause in their contracts that are sometimes taken care of by the new school where players enroll.

LSU officials reportedly declined to engage with Ole Miss’ attorneys, directing them to the athletes, who were responsible for their own contracts.

This led to disagreements as to whether the buyouts would be paid, and who would actually take care of the monetary penalties that came with them allegedly breaking their contracts.

Why the Rebels are suing both former players

In July, when Ole Miss first filed its lawsuit against the players, the school pointed toward the agreements signed and their plans to see the athletes hold up their part of the deal.

"The University of Mississippi values its student-athletes and is committed to honoring all obligations made to them. In return, the university expects that same commitment from its student-athletes and their representatives in upholding their contracts," Ole Miss said in a statement after filing suit.

"Before transferring to another institution, student-athletes Devin Harper and Princewill Umanmielen signed revenue sharing agreements that included a provision requiring them to compensate the university with a predetermined amount if they departed before fulfilling their commitment. The University of Mississippi has a responsibility to enforce its contractual terms, and this position is consistent with the actions of other institutions in the current landscape of college athletics."

Under House rules, the House would have to consider Massie’s articles by tomorrow.

But House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is sending the House home early today.

There will be no session tomorrow. That means the House won’t reconvene for business until after the midterms in mid-November.

Massie contends that Johnson sent everyone home early to avoid a vote related to Hegseth.

If the House had brought up Massie’s impeachment articles, Republicans would likely have offered "a motion to table." This is an effort to kill Massie’s gambit.

Thus, the vote would not have been on impeaching Hegseth, but whether or not to set aside Massie’s plan.

If the House were to table Massie’s articles of impeachment, the gig is up. It’s done.

The first winner of "The Voice of Holland," Ben Saunders, was found dead at the age of 43.

According to local newspaper De Telegraaf, Saunders was found at the popular recreational lake, Rijkerswoerdse Plassen, in the Netherlands, on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Police recovered his body from the lake at 1:20 p.m. local time, DutchNews reported. No cause of death has been revealed.

"We can confirm that a body was found yesterday at a recreational lake of Arnhem and that police have ruled out foul play," the Police Unit East Netherlands told People magazine. "We do not release or comment on personal details."

The Osbournes became a household name in the early 2000s when MTV shone a light into their lives as celebrities — and the children of rock royalty — with an unscripted show about the family.

The Prince of Darkness earned legions of new fans from the show, which also featured wife Sharon, and two of their three kids: Jack and Kelly. Aimee, who lived in the guest house at the time, opted out of appearing on the program.

The series premiered in 2002 and ran for four seasons, with a final curtain call in 2005.

"I'll never really truly understand, it just felt that way," Kelly noted. "We're very different. Everything I am, she's not. Everything she is, I'm not."

She added, "Like, you couldn't be more polar opposite. We're like oil and water."

While reflecting on sibling dynamics, Kelly admitted that she resented not having a chance to learn from her older sister.

"I will tell you it's one of the hardest things in my life that I never got a big sister, and I had to learn how to do certain things that a big sister should have taught you, on my own," she said. "I do have a resentment there, I'll have that forever."

Kelly said there was no hope for a reconciliation.

"I respect her, I accept her, but... we're different and that's OK," she said. "If you're not going to accept me for who I am and constantly trying to change me and say horrible things about me and truly seem to thrive when I'm not doing well, I don't want you in my life."

Kelly and Aimee's representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Aimee previously disclosed her reasoning for not appearing on the reality show while chatting on New York's Q1043 radio station.

"For me, I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and... I always really valued my privacy within that family," she said in 2020 per People.

"And for me personally, and for who I am, you know, as far as morally and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn't really line up with what I saw my future as."

She added, "It definitely worked great for the rest of my family, but for me, and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically."

After watching the Dallas Cowboys start off the 2026 NFL season with a loss to the New York Giants, one former "America’s Team" star is taking shots at team owner Jerry Jones.

Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens, who spent two of his 15 years in the NFL with Dallas, took time on his newly launched "Get To The Point" podcast to speak on the 83-year-old Jones, whom he believes is too worried about headlines and keeping his franchise relevant than actually winning a Super Bowl like he says he wants.

In fact, he invoked President Donald Trump while discussing Jones’ mindset.

"At the end of the day, he’s not worried about wins and losses," Owens said of Jones. "Fans out there, it’s not about wins and losses for him. It’s about the bottom line and the bottom dollar. As long as you guys keep buying Dallas Cowboy merch, he’s raking in dollars. As long as he’s putting a decent product on the field and giving you guys hope that every year is the year, you guys keep buying it.

"He’s just like Donald Trump – he’ll just say anything, and a lot of people are eating it up and think it’s going to be true. Stop it."

Owens continued by saying that Jones is selling Cowboys fans "a fantasy," and even claimed that the longtime owner is showing signs of "narcissism" as he has noted many times he won’t ever relinquish his power atop the Cowboys’ organizational chart.

"Jerry Jones is really selling all these Cowboy fans. He's selling them a fantasy. He's selling them a dream," Owens said. "Jerry, I cannot deny, he is a great salesman. He needs to relinquish some of the control that he has with the team and allow some other people to step in place."

To Owens’ point, Jones has taken the Cowboys to new heights since purchasing the team for $140 million in February 1989. Success quickly followed, as the Cowboys won the Super Bowl in 1993, 1994 and 1996, which restored the team’s previous glory after Dallas won Super Bowl VI (1972) and Super Bowl XII (1978) prior to Jones’ ownership.

But the Cowboys have not made it back to the Super Bowl since that 1996 win, and the supporters of "America’s Team" are desperate to see it happen. Each season, it feels the Cowboys have the chance to do so, but they’ve either fallen short in the playoffs, or worse, missed the postseason entirely.

However, the Cowboys remain one of the most valued teams in all of American sports since Jones purchased the club. According to Sportico, the team is valued at an estimated $15.5 billion if he were to sell it today. Forbes recently valued the franchise higher at $17 billion.

Either way, it’s the most valuable team in the NFL.

But is Jones too worried about that bottom line, as Owens mentioned, instead of winning? He did admit disappointment about how the season began in Week 1, but he said that the team remains "optimistic" for its playoff and Super Bowl chances in 2026.

‘Out of control’ killings in Spanberger’s Virginia reach ‘insane’ point as migrant charged in stabbing spree

Anger is boiling over at Virginia Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger and sanctuary-friendly politicians over "out of control" killings in the state after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asked the state not to allow the release of yet another illegal immigrant charged with carrying out a stabbing spree.

ICE sent a request to Spanberger and "her fellow sanctuary politicians" not to release Mexican illegal immigrant Freddi Chigo Mil following his arrest for allegedly stabbing two women on the streets of Staunton, Virginia, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Police responding to the incident found Mil at the scene along with two stabbed women, one of whom was pronounced dead while the other was transported to a local hospital.

Mil is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding causing permanent impairment, according to Middle River Regional Jail records. The same day, ICE arrested Salvadoran illegal immigrant Yinmi Molina-Zepeda in Woodbridge, Virginia, after it was discovered that he is wanted in his home country for aggravated homicide and other crimes.

Commenting on the growing list of illegal immigrants accused of violent crimes in Virginia, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin remarked that "this is what the Commonwealth of Virginia has become under the sanctuary policies of Gov. Abigail Spanberger and her fellow sanctuary politicians."

Regarding Mil, Mullin said, "this illegal alien from Mexico has been charged with murder after a stabbing spree that killed one woman and injured another."

He explained that "ICE has lodged a detainer asking Gov. Spanberger to cooperate with us and commit to not releasing this criminal from jail, so that he can be removed from our country once he faces justice."

"It’s time to put an end to these preventable tragedies," he continued, adding, "Deporting illegal aliens saves lives."

Jennifer Harrison, executive director of the victim advocacy organization Victims' Rights Reform Council, told Fox News Digital that "everything is out of control in these upside-down jurisdictions run by politicians like Spanberger who call themselves ‘moderate Democrats’ while implementing policies that put criminals ahead of victims and public safety."

Harrison posed the question: "How much blood has to be spilled in our streets before elected officials wake up and change course?"

"We have reached a point where the federal government has to ask state and local officials not to release dangerous illegal immigrants back into American communities. Think about how insane that is," Harrison continued.

"These are people who should not be in this country to begin with, and yet after they are accused of committing serious crimes here, when they have dead bodies in front of them, we are still having a debate over whether they should be released back onto our streets."

SPANBERGER'S ICE RESTRICTIONS DEALT MAJOR SETBACK AS JUDGE WARNS OTHER BLUE STATES

In a news release, DHS pointed to 22 cases of violent crime involving illegal immigrants in Virginia this year. Charges filed against illegal immigrants in Virginia this year include child pornography offenses, sex offenses against children, attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer, murder, aggravated sexual battery, rape, abduction and other serious crimes.

A spokesperson for Spanberger's office responded by telling Fox News Digital that the governor "strongly believes violent criminals who are in the United States illegally should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and deported."

The spokesperson said that "under Gov. Spanberger’s leadership, the Virginia Department of Corrections continues the long-standing practice of notifying ICE when individuals born outside of the United States are in state custody" and that "Virginia state law enforcement agencies also continue to participate in task forces and interagency cooperation with federal agencies."

They added that "As a former federal law enforcement officer who went after child predators, Gov. Spanberger will always prioritize the safety and well-being of Virginia families."

Fox News Digital also reached out to the Middle River Regional Jail for comment.

Sean Kennedy, president of Virginians for Safe Communities, told Fox News Digital, "Spanberger's actions are not pro-immigrant. They are pro-criminal."

"By shielding dangerous offenders from removal precisely because they are foreign nationals, she is loosing predators onto our streets. In fact, these predators overwhelmingly prey on other innocent immigrants, the ones she claims to be helping," said Kennedy.

He accused Spanberger of shielding illegal immigrant criminals from consequences "by blocking ICE at every turn," saying, "Victims' faces should haunt the governor when she looks in the mirror."

Hawley takes aim at 'corporate welfare' after GOP-backed tax break boosted controversial industry

FIRST ON FOX: Anxieties over data centers have cranked up considerably, and one Senate Republican wants to close a tax loophole that he argues tech giants are using as "corporate welfare" to build facilities throughout the country.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., plans on introducing legislation that would tie up a tax loophole for data centers first unleashed by Republicans in 2017 that he charged has been exploited by tech companies to build their sprawling data center facilities.

It comes as the GOP wrestles with how to handle the data center and AI issue, which has become a major political wedge on the campaign trail, one President Donald Trump has called a "hoax."

That loophole, Hawley told Fox News Digital in an interview, is for Opportunity Zones, which he said are generally meant for "for low-income areas, low-income housing, low-income businesses or businesses in low-income areas."

"These data centers have figured out a way that they think that they can access all of this money," Hawley said. "So, let's be clear. This is a form of corporate welfare. They don't need any welfare. These people are rich. They can pay their own way."

The tax breaks were first approved by Congress as part of Trump’s first-term tax cuts package, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. That initial bite at the apple established them as a means to spur investment into lower income or forgotten areas where tracts of land were dubbed Opportunity Zones.

They were then made permanent last year through the "big, beautiful bill," and though not explicitly intended to be used for data centers, have since provided a route for tech companies to defer, reduce or outright eliminate corporate gains taxes on their investments in the zones.

Since both tax packages were passed, 8,746 Opportunity Zones have cropped up in the U.S., according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, just under half of all zones are in rural areas, where tech goliaths have set their sights on building data centers.

And, according to a report from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, 14% of all data centers are in Opportunity Zones, while just over 17% of all permitted, approved and under construction data center projects are in the zones.

Hawley's forthcoming bill would explicitly exclude data centers from being able to access the tax cuts, adding another barrier at the federal level in an attempt to try and slow their rapid development.

And it comes as Congress scrambles to answer the growing fears over unfettered AI development, which data centers play a key role in.

Concerns have rippled through the halls of the Capitol since its return this week after a call from major players in the AI industry to slow development, which came after engineers at Anthropic revealed on X that there was a roughly 10% chance that AI could wipe out humanity within a decade. The topic of reining in the technology is not new.

Three years ago, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., convened several panels with tech CEOs, including one with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, to hash out what AI legislation could look like in Congress.

Since then, there has been little to no legislative action taken.

Hawley argued that Congress needs to at least put guardrails on AI and give people the opportunity to sue tech companies if their data and personal information has been used without their consent.

When asked why no real action had happened since Schumer’s series of AI summits, Hawley contended it was "because all the tech CEOs then promptly gave Schumer and the Democrats gobs and gobs money, and they decided that, you know what, maybe this industry is going fine."

"And now what you see the same tech CEOs saying is they want an antitrust exemption so they can all talk together and work together," Hawley said. ‘Any regulations, they want to write them themselves. And they're out there saying, 'The sky is falling, the sky is falling. You need to let us get together, write the regulations and figure out what we're going to do.’ I'm pretty skeptical of that, I have to say."

Matt Fitzpatrick shares why he feels uncomfortable about traveling to Middle East for DP World Tour finale

The DP World Tour's plans to hold the final two events of the season in the Middle East in November face uncertainty due to ongoing conflicts in and around the region. Matt Fitzpatrick, the season finale’s defending champion, did not hesitate to share his opinion on what the tour should, or in this case, should not, do regarding teeing it up in the Middle East in the coming weeks.

"Being completely honest as things stand right now, I would say I’m not that comfortable," the 2022 U.S. Open champion told the media ahead of this week's BMW PGA Championship in England. "A few things have obviously changed for me, perspective and stuff. I’ve had a child in August, and that obviously kind of changes things a bit more."

The annual Race to Dubai is scheduled to conclude with a two-event playoff system, with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi beginning November 5, followed by the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai taking place the next week.

While Fitzpatrick's initial admission was certainly honest, he became even more candid when asked if he believed his perspective would be heard by the decision-makers at the tour.

"No, I don’t think so. Not me personally," Fitzpatrick began. "It’s not for me to make these decisions. I’m not paid to do that. I just don’t feel like my opinion would hold that much weight. I know I’ve been asked on my opinion, but I don’t necessarily think it’s like a heavy weight.

"I spoke to a couple of the guys and some of them have said they are uncomfortable. Some have said it’s fine. I guess we’ll see."

Fitzpatrick also went on to explain that his agent was told that a decision about where the playoff events would be held would be made by the DP World Tour by June. Now, in mid-September, it's still not clear if the final two events on the calendar could be moved.

Oregon settles with Christian mother denied foster care adoption over gender identity beliefs

A widowed Oregon mother of five who hoped to give a home to a child in foster care and says she was shut out of the process after telling state officials her Christian beliefs prevented her from affirming a child’s gender transition has reached a settlement with the state allowing her to continue pursuing adoption.

Jessica Bates told Fox News Digital in an interview Wednesday that she completed Oregon’s foster care training after deciding to pursue adoption but raised what she described as conflicts of conscience with requirements concerning gender identity and the care of children who identify as LGBTQ+.

"In the training, the state wanted me to be willing to put pride flags around the house or if a child should come into my care that didn't identify as binary or whatnot, then I would need to affirm their identity, use their preferred pronouns, support this behavior even if it conflicted with my faith and what I hold to be true," Bates said.

"When I was on the phone call with them a few months later, they basically kind of set up the litmus test that, ‘OK, well, what if we place a child in your care who wants to transition from one sex to the other, and we want — we need you to take this child to hormone injection appointments. Would you be willing to do that?’" Bates said they asked.

"And that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back, because I absolutely would not be willing to do that."

Bates began the process to become certified to adopt in March 2022 from Oregon’s foster care system, but in September 2022 she was denied her application by Oregon due to her religious beliefs, according to Alliance Defending Freedom, which has represented Bates.

Bates said she told officials that gender affirmation for a child who believes he or she is a different gender than what they were born with is "child abuse," and society has yet to learn the full effects of gender transition hormones.

"It was hard being told you can't adopt or help at all when you know that there were literally like a few thousand kids out there in the foster care system," Bates said. "And just knowing, nope, you can't help, and you're excluded was really hard.

"And, you've probably heard, I am a widow," she added. "My husband was killed in 2017 in a head-on collision. That's kind of a long story in itself, but my five kids and I know what it is to have grief and to lose someone that you love.

"And just the idea that there's these kids out here, at the same time, while I'm seeing my kids kind of go through life without their dad. And to know there's kids out there that don't have a parent, either want mom or dad that's able to invest in them and love them."

In March 2023, ADF filed a federal complaint on her behalf, and in December 2023, following a federal district court ruling against Bates, ADF appealed her case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, asking the court to allow her to access Oregon’s adoption system without discrimination while her lawsuit continues.

In July 2025, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that Bates can start the process of adopting siblings from foster care without violating her religious beliefs about human sexuality while her lawsuit against state officials progresses.

"This settlement will allow me to continue in the process of looking to foster, to adopt," Bates said. "I plan to do that even though my family life has changed a lot in the last four years. I became a grandmother. My oldest son's married, and he's actually — they're living with me, just because cost of living and everything is so high right now, but I would like to continue the process and this case allows me to do that."

Americans traveling to Cambodia are facing a new warning from the U.S. State Department as officials flag security and safety risks across parts of the country.

The department issued a Level 2 "Exercise Increased Caution" advisory for Cambodia on Sept. 15, citing crime, unrest and unexploded ordnance.

Located in Southeast Asia, Cambodia shares borders with Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

The provinces of Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat, Siem Reap, Pailin, Preah Vihear and Kampong Thom all carry increased warnings due to unexploded ordnance, the advisory notes.

For Americans who do decide to travel to Cambodia, the State Department also shares this blunt advice: "Do not physically resist any robbery attempt."

The State Department also highly recommends purchasing travel insurance and checking whether coverage includes evacuation assistance, medical insurance and trip cancellations.

Travelers are also warned about Cambodia's strict drug laws.

Cambodia has a "zero-tolerance policy for drug offenses," according to State Department travel guidance, and possessing even small quantities of illegal drugs can lead to arrest and detention.

Those convicted of drug offenses can face lengthy prison sentences, even life in prison, officials warn.

The State Department also urges travelers to take precautions when accepting beverages from others.

"Crimes targeting tourists often involve drugged drinks. Do not accept drinks from strangers and do not leave drinks unattended," the advisory states.

The warning comes as U.S. officials continue issuing travel and security advisories for destinations around the world.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the State Department updated its Level 2 "Exercise Increased Caution" travel advisory for Italy earlier this month, warning Americans about terrorism and crime.

Officials warned of the risk of terrorist violence and urged travelers to remain vigilant, while also cautioning that petty crime, including purse snatching and pickpocketing, is common in popular tourist locations and on public transportation.

Fourth Florida resident dies after contracting flesh-eating bacteria commonly linked to oysters

A fourth person in Florida has died after contracting flesh-eating bacteria commonly linked to consuming raw or undercooked shellfish, including oysters, health officials said.

The death was included Thursday in the Florida Department of Health's updated fatality count for the deadly flesh-eating bacterium Vibrio vulnificus.

The individual was from Broward County and between the ages of 75 and 79, WSFA reported. It remains unclear exactly how the person contracted the infection.

Previous deaths were attributed to residents of Bay, Palm Beach and Marion counties, according to the state’s health department.

"Most people get vibriosis by eating raw or undercooked shellfish, particularly oysters," the Florida Department of Health said.

According to the department's website, Florida has reported 21 cases of Vibrio vulnificus in 2026.

In the last 10 years, 2022 and 2024 reported some of the highest numbers of cases and deaths in the region. Florida recorded 19 deaths and 82 cases in 2024, while 2022 saw 17 deaths and 74 cases.

Officials said the unusual increase stemmed from certain counties experiencing impacts from hurricanes Helene and Ian. Severe weather events that cause standing or floodwaters pose a risk of exposure to the bacteria, officials said.

Vibrio vulnificus is a naturally occurring bacterium found in warm, brackish seawater.

Exposure can occur when a person eats contaminated shellfish with the bacteria or enters contaminated water with an open wound.

Health officials said bloodstream infections caused by Vibrio vulnificus are fatal about 50% of the time.

While healthy individuals typically develop a mild illness, Vibrio vulnificus infections can cause severe illness in people with weakened immune systems.

"A recent study showed that people with these pre-existing medical conditions were 80 times more likely to develop Vibrio vulnificus bloodstream infections than healthy people," Florida health officials said.

Severe infections can cause symptoms including fever, chills, decreased blood pressure, also known as septic shock, and blistering skin lesions. In some cases, wound infections can lead to tissue damage requiring amputation.

Elsewhere along the Gulf Coast, Louisiana has reported 15 cases and six deaths this year as of Sept. 9, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. Fourteen of the cases were attributed to wound or seawater exposure.

The Texas Department of State Health Services says Texas typically sees an average of 33 cases per year.

Mississippi reported three cases as of August, according to the state’s health department.

It's not all super serious for Baker Mayfield as he begins preparation for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. There's actually kind of a surprisingly jovial atmosphere around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and his team.

Mayfield, you see, stepped to the microphone on Wednesday to begin his weekly press conference wearing a University of Michigan basketball tank top.

An ill-fitting one at that.

Head coach Todd Bowles initially stood in the doorway humming the University of Michigan fight song and shouting, "Let's go blue!"

"That hurts, that hurts real bad," Mayfield said. "It's been a rough couple of days."

And why would Mayfield be wearing a child-size Michigan tank top?

"Oklahoma versus Michigan," he explained. "Todd's son was on the winning side of it. The Sooners were not. And so, therefore, I squeezed into this little tank top."

Bowles' son, Troy, plays for the Wolverines. Mayfield played for Oklahoma. So there was some bragging rights involved that led to a friendly wager about the Saturday matchup. But then ...

Michigan 17.

Oklahoma 10.

So, quite a funny moment considering the expression on Mayfield's face.

But that moment could be understood to be perhaps more meaningful in that it speaks to the mindset for the Buccaneers' quarterback, his coach, and perhaps the team.

The Bucs are 0-1 headed to Sunday's game against the Browns. And Mayfield in the season-opener struggled in a 33-27 season-opening loss against the Cincinnati Bengals because he didn't throw a touchdown pass but lost three fumbles, including one around the goal line when it seemed the Bucs would be scoring.

So, actually, that hurts.

It hurts Bowles, who is under some expectation to get his team into the postseason. And it hurts Mayfield, who just last week agreed to a three-year contract extension worth a whopping $165 million and putting him among the league's highest-paid quarterbacks.

Neither Bowles nor Mayfield met expectation in the regular-season opener. So this week the script needs to flip against the Browns.

Did we mention happy-bet-loser Mayfield played for the Browns from 2018, when he was the NFL's No. 1 overall draft pick, through the 2021 season?

Mayfield wasn't such a happy loser when the Browns shipped him to Carolina after deciding Deshaun Watson would be a better fit. Mayfield was actually quite angry at the time.

And Sunday is obviously a pressure-packed opportunity to get some measure of revenge.

Mayfield better get his retribution while he can in that opportunity. Because he won't be getting it from another friendly Michigan versus Oklahoma wager anytime soon.

The two schools just completed their two-game home-and-home series and there are no future games scheduled.
