Saturday at 'the Spa': Saratoga Race Course picks for Whitney Day, including four Grade 1 stakes races

Take my word for it: Saratoga, New York is one of the best summer towns in the country. The concerts, restaurants, nightlife, and most importantly, the Saratoga Race Course, attract a terrific party vibe. Every Saturday during the summer, horse racing's best thoroughbreds, jockeys and trainers go to The Spa.

And Whitney Day, headlined by the self-titled Grade 1 stakes, is one of the best of the days in Saratoga’s summer meet. Along with the Whitney are three more Grade 1 races, such as the Test Stakes, Fourstardave Stakes and Saratoga Derby.

In my first trip to The Spa this summer, I went 0-for-3 on Jim Dandy Day last week, losing $100. I'm heading back to Saratoga for this loaded Whitney Day card with $125 I'm willing to risk. Here's how I'm betting races 9-12 Saturday, August 8.

Saratoga Race Course Bet Slip: 'Whitney Day'

Test Stakes, Race 9: $20 Win on #6 On Time Girl.
Fourstardave Stakes, Race 10: $20 Win on #3 Zulu Kingdom and $5 Exacta: 3/6.
Saratoga Derby, Race 11: $10 Across the Board on #1 Glavine ($30 total bet).
Whitney Stakes, Race 12: $50 Win on #6 Sovereignty.

Grade 1 Test Stakes, 4:36 p.m. ET post time

Statistically speaking, #6 On Time Girl (7-2) has the best jockey (Irad Ortiz) and trainer (Brad Cox) combo in this field.

OUTKICK SPORTS CARTOON OF THE DAY

Ortiz is a multiple-time winner of the best jockey during the Saratoga summer meet, and he has the highest winning percentage of any jockey this summer with a minimum of five starts. Cox has the highest winning rate of any trainer this summer at Saratoga with a minimum of 25 starts.

On Time Girl has two wins and a second in three races at this distance and has gone off as the top betting choice in five of her last six starts, including four straight. She is the only filly in this field with tactical speed, so she can win whether there is a fast or slow pace.

Grade 1 Fourstardave Stakes, 5:14 p.m. ET post time

This is just a good price for #3 Zulu Kingdom (7-2), who has gone off as the top betting choice in seven of his 11 career races. He has eight wins and one third in his career.

In five starts at The Spa, Zulu Kingdom has three wins and a third. At this distance, he has four wins and a third in seven races. Zulu Kingdom’s jockey (Flavien Prat) and trainer (Chad Brown) are leading this summer’s Saratoga meet in earnings.

He is coming off his fastest career Beyer Speed Figure (101) in a dead-heat win at the Grade 3 Kelso in Saratoga last month. Zulu Kingdom is experienced in these tough fields; he’s been in seven Graded stakes races, including six straight.

I’m putting #6 Capitol Hill (10-1) underneath in an exacta because he is the only horse in this field with "late speed" and could sneak into the money on the final stretch.

Grade 1 Saratoga Derby, 5:52 p.m. ET post time

#1 Glavine (12-1) has clocked 86, 83 and 85 Beyers in his three races this year, which isn’t far off the top speeds in this field. He broke his maiden in May and finished fourth and third in his last two starts, both at Saratoga.

If he can improve a little, Glavine will outrun his odds. Speaking of which, he’s gone off at $4.17 or shorter in his three races this year, making Glavine’s 12-1 Saratoga Derby morning-line a great price.

At the end of the day, the top-three betting choices in this field are 9-2 or shorter, and Glavine isn’t nearly three times worse than them.

Grade 1 Whitney Stakes, 6:33 p.m. ET post time

The 2025 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes champion, #6 Sovereignty (3-1), has a second and a third in his first two starts this year, which is disappointing, considering his resume.

But Sovereignty has three wins in four races at The Spa, which includes last year’s Belmont Stakes and a 10-length victory in the Grade 1 Travers in a field with the top betting choice Saturday, #1 Magnitude (9-5), who lost by 20.75 lengths.

Granted, Magnitude got his revenge by beating Sovereignty in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster at Churchill in May. Nevertheless, Sovereignty’s floor is the rest of this Whitney field's A-game; he has run a 104+ Beyer in six consecutive races.

Lastly, Sovereignty broke his maiden in his third start as a two-year-old and won the Kentucky Derby in his third start last year, followed by his three wins at Saratoga last summer. At this price, I'm betting Sovereignty will continue this pattern as a four-year-old.

Cornell bans bear butchering after students carved up creature in dorm kitchen

Cornell University has added a new rule banning the processing of wild game in school kitchens months after two students went viral for carving up a bear in a dormitory kitchen.

"Processing wild/game animals in community kitchens is strictly prohibited," the school's new policy reads.

The school confirmed to a student newspaper that the rule's addition was a direct response to the 2025 incident, which saw two students drag the carcass of a black bear they had killed into Cornell's Ganędagǫ Hall for preparation.

One of those students, Aaron Chin, revealed himself as one of the butchers on a podcast a few months after the incident.

Chin explained that he and his hunting partner, a fellow Cornell student, had planned on bringing the bear from the hunting grounds located roughly two hours from the school to a friend's house to prepare it, but claimed the friend had an emergency that left them unable to use his home.

Chin also said that before bringing the bear meat on campus, he and his partner ensured they weren't breaking any campus rules.

"We were really diligent in reading all of the rules [and] regulations," Chin told the MeatEater podcast in September. "We made sure we did everything by the book because we knew we were going to be under scrutiny."

The incident incurred swift social media and on-campus backlash, prompting state regulators to investigate.

However, after an inspector from New York's Department of Environmental Conservation visited the kitchen where the carving took place, the agency found no code violations, according to an NBC report.

Hawaii voters hit the polls as Gov. Josh Green dominates, progressive takes aim at Dem congressman

Hawaii voters will decide Saturday who advances to the November general election, with key contests including the race for governor and the battle to represent the state’s 1st Congressional District.

Gov. Josh Green, who was first elected in 2022, is heavily favored to win the Democratic primary, where he faces three little-known competitors. His challengers include George "Teva" Lucas-Tadeo, a Democratic socialist who has promised on social media to open a government-run grocery store and legalize recreational marijuana.

David "Duke" Bourgoin is mounting his second primary challenge against Green after losing to him in 2022, when he captured only 590 votes against Green’s 158,161. He also lost two bids for Honolulu mayor, in 2022 and 2024.

Lauren Kapoliahiʻiaka Shim is also seeking the Democratic nomination. She is the CEO and founder of Aloha AI Incorporated, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Neither Lucas-Tadeo nor Shim had campaign websites, and none of Green’s three challengers had raised any money in the race as of June 30, according to Honolulu Civil Beat. Meanwhile, Green has raised approximately $3.5 million, far outpacing Republican Gary Cordery, the race’s second-highest fundraiser, who has raised about $313,000, according to Honolulu Civil Beat.

Cordery, owner of the contracting company Kingdom Builders, and Ken Fujiyama, an entrepreneur and investor, are competing for the Republican nomination and a chance to end nearly two decades of Democratic control of the governor’s mansion. The last Republican to serve as Hawaii governor was Linda Lingle, who held the office from 2002 to 2010.

Cordery has campaigned on lowering Hawaii’s high cost of living, expanding housing and cracking down on government waste and corruption. He has proposed adding 15,000 homes for working families, using state-owned land for housing and eliminating the state’s general excise tax on food and medicine. Fujiyama has also proposed a plan to tackle the housing affordability crisis by developing 100,000 residential lots and partnering with large landowners to spur growth.

Whoever emerges from the Republican primary will face an uphill battle to unseat Green if he secures the Democratic nomination. Green holds a 56% approval rating, while the Cook Political Report rates the race "Likely Democrat" and gives Democrats a 13-point advantage.

Meanwhile, eyes outside of Hawaii will be locked on the Democratic primary in the 1st Congressional District, where state Sen. Jarrett Keohokalole is challenging Rep. Ed Case, D-Hawaii.

Case, who is seeking a seventh term, has represented the district since 2019 and argues that his seniority and position on the Appropriations Committee give Hawaii greater influence in Washington. Meanwhile, Keohokalole, who is endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders' group Our Revolution, is running on a progressive platform that includes Medicare for All and opposition to ICE and President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Keohokalole is seeking to portray Case as out of touch with Democratic voters, pointing to the congressman’s vote with House Republicans to pass Trump's SAVE America Act, which would require voters to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

Given the district’s strong Democratic lean, whoever wins the party’s primary will likely be favored to win the seat in November.

White Sox manager Will Venable forgets key rule in inexplicable blunder, costs team in loss

Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable has done a tremendous job in his first season with the club, with many fine moments throughout the season.

However, in the White Sox’s 8-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians at Rate Field on Friday, Venable did not have one of his finer moments, as he forgot a key rule and cost his team dearly.

Just four batters into the game, White Sox starting pitcher Noah Schultz had loaded the bases, drawing a mound visit from pitching coach Zach Bove. One batter later, left fielder Angel Martinez ripped a two-run single.

Venable then went to the mound to talk about an appeal play but forgot that he wasn’t allowed to do so.

Under official rule 5.10(l), "a manager or coach is allowed only one visit to the mound per pitcher in a single inning without penalty. If the same coach or manager makes a second visit to the same pitcher in the same inning, the pitcher must be removed from the pitching position."

Venable’s visit to the mound meant that he had to remove Schultz from the game just five batters in. His gaffe was especially costly, because the team lost in 13 innings the night before and taxed its bullpen.

Venable’s blunder meant that his already taxed bullpen was going to have to work 8 2/3 innings. David Sandlin, who replaced Schultz, hadn’t even begun throwing in the bullpen when Venable went to the pitcher’s mound; he was just getting loose and stretching.

While Venable said after the game that Schultz was not going to pitch long in the game anyway, he certainly would have lasted more than the five batters he faced if it weren't for Venable's mound visit. The 43-year-old manager took full responsibility for his error.

"Yeah, just an inexcusable mistake by me where we had an appeal play that we wanted to execute, and in the urgency of trying to make that happen, just totally lost that we had visited," Venable said, according to MLB.com. "Obviously that was a mistake. So, just messed it up."

Sandlin, who was callup from Triple-A before the game, ended saving the bullpen, as he pitched 5 1/3 innings on 96 pitches. While the circumstances of his entering the game were odd, he didn’t make any excuses.

"I got a little extra time out there," Sandlin said. "I think I got about eight pitches in the 'pen and then got to warm up out there. Can't make any excuses, just have to get going. Felt good enough and started off great."

For the White Sox, it was their fourth straight loss, making them the last team in baseball to have a four-game losing streak this season. They had not lost more than three in a row before Friday.

Jamie Kennedy blasts left-wing double standards following 'maggot' attacks

Jamie Kennedy is calling out what he sees as hypocrisy in America today.

The actor released a solo episode of his podcast, "Hate to Break It to Ya," this week, and spoke at length about current events, namely the Fauci hearings and the renewed conversation around the COVID-19 pandemic and its lasting effects.

During the episode, Kennedy's discussion of the public response to the pandemic became a bit broader when he spoke about some people today being "beyond brainwashed."

"And I've never seen this in the history of our race of human beings," he continued. "For instance, if I like something that a Republican does, or Trump does, they call me not just MAGA, they call me a maggot. A maggot."

He explained that while he does lean right, he "never even voted," and he said there are some more liberal policies he agrees with as well, "but if I say I like that Trump secures the borders, I'm just a maggot."

The "Scream" star said he believes that people like him, who focus on policy over party, are "open-minded," while people on the left have "no leniency."

"How can you say that you're the party of inclusion when you don't include us?" he asked. "All we want to do is talk to people, figure out things, go through different ideas, see what we like. And if we don't, we don't feel like we've looked under every stone. And I feel like that's what's happening – people don't want you to investigate. If you even investigate or go against their beliefs, they just put you in a box."

Kennedy also spoke about performing an hour-long comedy set in a parking lot to raise money for a bar that had been struggling to stay afloat under lockdown restrictions. The event was nearly shut down while, at the same time, he claimed, a crew of dozens was shooting a television show in another parking lot nearby with no issues because it had been "sanctioned by the state."

"That's the hypocrisy," he complained. "A female, family-owned business, probably very left-leaning ... and you've turned them into me. And you know what you think I am."

He continued, "So when you say that people are like this, it's because you're so repressive. You're so judgmental, you're so mean. You're so arrogant, you're so impatient, you're so ... there's nothing sweet about you. There's nothing open or forgiving."

"The reason why no one believes your bulls— when you're this wild, angry, crazy left-leaning person ... is that the right-leaning people, if they say hateful things, they kind of stand by it," Kennedy said, claiming that if someone on the right holds "hateful" beliefs, "at least you know where you stand with them."

"If you're a wild leftist, your whole thing is inclusion," he argued, and "the minute they don't get what they want," they turn into a "gremlin-possessed demon."

"Why we don't listen to you is because we don't believe a word you say," he went on, "because you're all words. You're nothing but ... you're air. You're not a really good person, you're fake. We all know it. People like me know it. There's tons of people like me – we know it."

As another example, Kennedy brought up the murder of Charlie Kirk, saying that "if you're an empathetic person, you were f—ing ruined for a week. I don't care what you are – if you're a human, and you have blood in your veins and love in your heart, you don't wish what happened to him on anyone."

But the people who celebrated Kirk's death, he said, are "beyond sick, and we saw how many people did that."

"These are the people that want all the inclusion and say that we're not," he said. "No, we just know your bulls—. You just want what you want, and if you don't get it, 'it's my ball, and my that, I'm going home,' but you don't just go home, you burn ours down. You're not just crybabies, you're psychopaths."

Philadelphia Eagles 2026 outlook: Why betting on them to miss the playoffs has real value

It is crazy just how much can change from one year to the next, especially in the NFL. We know there are going to be good teams that seem to succeed every year. Sometimes, though, there are teams that are good, but almost seem like they are fake good. That’s what I thought of the Eagles last year. Are they going to be good, bad, or somewhere in between this season?

Last year

The Eagles did make the playoffs a year after winning the Super Bowl over the Chiefs with ease. The team was just 11-6 for the season, though. The Eagles started the year looking dominant once again, winning all of their first four games. Then they had a tough home loss to Denver and an embarrassing road loss to the Giants. They won another four before they slumped to another three straight losses against the Cowboys, the Bears, and Chargers. The last week of the season meant nothing, and they lost to the Commanders. Of their six regular season losses, three were to non-playoff teams. In the postseason, they were in a back-and-forth battle with the 49ers before they lost in the fourth quarter.

Offseason additions and subtractions

Perhaps an addition by subtraction was the Eagles finally getting rid of disgruntled wide receiver AJ Brown. There is no denying Brown’s talent, but he clearly was not happy with the offense. How can you be when it relies on a strong running back and a quarterback who really doesn’t throw much? They replaced him with Dontayvion Wicks, who had some flashes with the Packers, but nothing super impressive. They upgraded their defense, an area that looked a little weak last season. They got a cornerback, Riq Woolen, and traded for rusher Jonathan Greenard, both areas of need.

Roster

Defensively, I do think the Eagles will still be solid, but they need to generate more pressure on the quarterback to allow their secondary not to be so exposed. It should improve from last year. On offense, I still am not sold on Jalen Hurts. I get that he has won a Super Bowl, but that defense was amazing. The Eagles' best feature is their short-yardage success. If it is a short distance, they are going to get the first down. They have speed with DeVonta Smith, and Wicks could get the targets that Brown was getting. Dallas Goedert is still a solid tight end. Saquon Barkley had a pretty poor year compared to his first season with Philadelphia, but he is still an elite back, and maybe this year will be closer to his first season with them.

Betting Outlook

The Giants are probably a bit better this year, and the Cowboys should be better. Plus, the Commanders are likely to improve. They won a lot of one-score games last season, so maybe some of that comes back to the median with this year’s schedule. They are listed at 10.5 games, and that seems pretty high for them. I like the idea of taking the Eagles at +154 to miss the playoffs more than anything. I don’t have them as a playoff team this season despite the improvements.

Couples asking wedding guests for cash spark fierce debate over manners and tradition

A celebrity couple asking wedding guests to help fund their nuptials is being branded "tacky" by some, while others insist cash is king.

American actress AnnaLynne McCord, known for her roles on "90210," "Nip/Tuck" and "Days of Our Lives," and her English former professional rugby player fiancé, Danny Cipriani, set up a page on Honeyfund, an online wedding and honeymoon registry, inviting people to contribute to wish-list elements of their "dream wedding."

The registry lists wedding expenses ranging from $100 to $600, including the marriage license, reception beverages, photography, rehearsal dinner and floral arrangements.

"Tacky is an ugly word, but it’s really unkind to ask your guests to give you money for any occasion," Texas-based etiquette expert Diane Gottsman told Fox News Digital. "It really is impolite to straight out ask for cash. You let your family do the talking for you. You let your website do the talking for you."

Gottsman said every couple needs a registry to give options for guests, but asking directly for cash sets the wrong tone immediately.

Cash is easy to give, she added, and is acceptable to include as a request on a website for honeymoon funds, a down payment for a home, etc., but it shouldn’t be the only option. Some guests prefer to give a gift, and it should be left up to them.

"A gift is not an admission ticket to your wedding," Gottsman said. "A registry makes it easier, but guests can do whatever they would like. It’s a gracious act of giving that they’re doing for you."

Several Reddit discussions about cash wedding registries suggest attitudes vary, with some users saying the practice is a modern, accepted trend. Gottsman clarified that a cash option is perfectly acceptable, but asking guests to pay for the wedding itself is "off-putting."

One Reddit forum asked, "Is it bad to ask for money instead of gifts?"

"No, most people do this now, majority of weddings I’ve been to the last few years all were mainly cash registries," one user replied.

"We did, and didn’t get any backlash and got money from everyone, except one friend who offered us either money or getting a meat subscription box," another user responded. "And we love to cook and good meat is dang expensive so we took it, but we didn’t get any surprise gifts from people who refused to give us cash or anything like that."

A Redditor identifying as an Asian person said the only gift you give or receive in that culture is money.

"Can someone please explain to me why it is such a ‘bad’ thing to not have a physical registry? Like I don’t get it," the person wrote. "If I want something, you giving me the money will let me buy it. If I already have everything I need, money can help re-coop the cost of the wedding or literally anything else. Money is the best, most versatile gift."

"Why in American culture is it seen so negatively?" the person added. "I’m born and raised in the U.S., and I still never understood people’s issue with this."

"It’s a general taboo around money in American culture," a fellow Redditor replied. "You’re not supposed to talk about money at all honestly. So asking for it or exchanging it directly is frowned upon. That’s why there’s such a culture around signaling wealth indirectly. Having a big wedding or designer bags is how to flaunt wealth, not posting a screenshot of your bank statement."

Someone else on Reddit asked if it would be rude to ask for money instead of gifts for her wedding, then edited the original post to say she decided against it and to include cash as an option among other gifts on her registry.

"Just have a honeymoon fund and few or no physical items on your registry and most people will take the hint," someone on the forum advised.

Gottsman encouraged couples to "think about the ask." They should throw a wedding they can afford, because asking for cash sets a different tone for the celebration.

If a guest is reluctant to chip in on a couple’s wedding, Gottsman said there’s a gracious way to decline.

Somehow, the Sox have gone from the worst team in the American League, to leading the league in run differential (+89), sitting comfortably in a playoff spot and knocking on the door for the division lead.

Everyone was wrong. Everyone has egg on their face. And I'm right there at the front of the line.

The Red Sox are setting every record imaginable

Name a record, and the Red Sox have probably broken it this summer. This one is probably my favorite:

Per Elias, the 2026 Red Sox are the fastest team in MLB history to go from 14 games under .500 to 13 games over at 44 days. The previous quickest was 59 days by the 1914 Braves.

Goodness gracious. Where do I even start?

I said they'd regret firing Alex Cora. I was wrong. Interim manager Chad Tracy will undoubtedly be Manager of the Year. Does he even qualify? No clue. But he should.
I called Craig Breslow a clown. I said he put together one of the worst rosters in Red Sox history. I was wrong. Apparently, he built a monster.
I called for owner John Henry to sell the team, and I wasn't alone. All of Fenway Park chanted it back in May. He was HATED in Boston. Despised. Couldn't show his face.

Fast-forward three months, and look who was a man of the people earlier this week:

Amazing.

I spent much of the first two months of the season absolutely burying new third baseman Caleb Durbin. He was Alex Bregman's replacement, and was horrific. It looked like the biggest Red Sox whiff since the Mookie Betts debacle.

Durbin has been one of the best players in all of baseball this summer. A lot of fans credit him for starting this run in June when he played through a dislocated finger and hit a go-ahead home run against the Yankees.

Hard to argue:

Breslow didn't whiff on Durbin. I did. I was wrong.

Last week, I said the Sox should get rid of Jarren Duran at all costs at the trade deadline. He just had another embarrassing outburst in a win over the A's, and fans were DONE with him. At the time, he was literally the worst hitter in all of baseball, hitting .195.

In the last 10 days, Duran is hitting .315, stealing bases, and launching home runs.

Yep. Wrong again! The amount of misinformation I've put out on the Red Sox should get me a front row seat in Congress.

"Remember the Titans" star Ethan Suplee spent years dramatically transforming his body, but the actor says the breakthrough that finally helped him maintain his weight loss came when he stopped viewing it as something he could permanently "cure."

Suplee explained he saw the biggest change when he began treating his relationship with food and weight much like his sobriety — a lifelong condition requiring honesty, communication and accountability.

Reflecting on his recovery journey with Fox News Digital, Suplee said repeated attempts to get sober failed because he believed he could simply complete rehab and move on. He believed taking 30 days away from drugs and alcohol meant the problem had gone away.

"I haven’t had drugs or alcohol in 30 days," he recalled. "That means I’m cured."

He added, "I did not apply that to weight loss for many, many years. I kind of was doing everything in my head, and the big boon to actually being able to maintain it was finding a group of people to be accountable to."

"There’s some pressure from the world to continue to manage [the weight loss]," he told Fox News Digital. "But that’s something I’ve kind of designed."

On his weekly live show and podcast, "LifeLONG," Suplee regularly discusses the realities of long-term weight maintenance, inviting experts and people who have transformed their health to talk about nutrition, emotional eating, fitness and accountability. "It’s a group of people, like-minded people, who come in, and we share what we’re going through, and we share our experience," Suplee explained. "And I think we all do better because of that."

"As a kid, I wanted a magical diet drug so badly. And now we have what is a magical diet drug," he said. "I think, unfortunately, it's also not a one-stop shop. I think you can hop on a GLP-1 and experience weight loss. You can see the scale go down week over week for a long time without having to do anything else."

Charles Barkley dunks all over pickleball: 'All these old people are killing themselves'

Former NBA legend Charles Barkley is certainly a very opinionated man, and when he has an opinion, he isn't afraid to let it fly.

The man who once famously said "I am not a role model" joined "The Kittle Cast" with NFL tight end George Kittle and his wife, Claire, and was giving out some rather sage advice about aging athletically.

For guys like Kittle and Barkley, going from the top of your game to retirement can be rough; it can feel like there's a hole in your life where your passion used to be.

That's why Sir Charles felt it paramount to impart his wisdom onto the younger Kittle now so he knows what to expect when he does decide to hang it up.

For Chuck, there is a list of dos and don'ts when it comes to staying in shape post-retirement, and while sharing this with the podcast power couple, he decided to take a shot at a very popular sport among retirees.

"There’s not a lot you can do when you get old," Barkley said. "You can’t go play basketball.

"And let me tell you something. They got this stupid thing going around called pickleball, which is the way old people out here are getting hurt all the time."

So, the Round Mound of Rebound is not a big pickleball fan? Got it.

But he continues.

"My doctor friends said pickleball is the gift that keeps giving," Barkley claims. "Because all these old people are killing themselves and hurt all the time. My doctor friends are in heaven right now."

Kittle chimes in and says he's heard similar things about America's fastest-growing sport among the 55-and-over community, citing torn ACLs and broken wrists galore.

"I am never stepping on that damn court," Kittle exclaimed.

I have to say, as someone who was conscripted into the pickleball cult back in 2023 and having "left the reservation," I couldn't agree more.

I was 30 years old thinking this was going to be some relaxing way to spend my weekends as a recently married guy trying to find a hobby, and I could not have been more wrong.

The word "cutthroat" is an understatement.

I was going up against guys (and girls) who were playing this sport as if it was the fifth set of the Australian Open Finals, and the funniest part of all of it was that most of these people were my age or slightly younger.

Where are all these senior citizens I hear about playing a relaxing round of pickleball?

Because all I got was a court full of former college athletes in their early 30s with $200 paddles and rocking headbands like they were Bjorn Borg.

If you're still in good enough shape to treat pickleball like an ATP tennis match, then just go play tennis.

What's even crazier is the few retirement-aged players I ran into would kick my ass up and down the court, so maybe this is a sport that's tailor-made for older people.

I'm with Kittle, if you really want to do something active after you retire, just play golf like every other generation of old people has done since the sport was invented nearly 600 years ago.

DAVID MARCUS: Mamdani's faux African accent as telling as it is bizarre

In a resurfaced 2016 interview, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani speaks for the entire time in an African/South Asian accent that sounds like a mix between Trevor Noah and Apu from "The Simpsons." It is absolutely bizarre, but it is also telling.

At the time, he was promoting a Disney movie that he had worked on as a dance adviser, one of the few actual jobs hizzoner has ever held. His signature smile is on display, but when he opens his lips he sounds like someone we have never heard.

With his sing-songy affected voice he decries how in Africa everybody dances, but in New York the men "just grind," but don’t dance. It is a performance entirely in character, he even imitates some Bollywood-style dance moves.

This is not Hillary Clinton’s voice getting a bit twangly when she speaks in the South. This is a full-on acting job, and further proof that the theater kids have taken over the American Left.

There is nothing inherently wrong with theater kids. I myself plied the boards in New York for many years before my career in journalism. But I never did an entire interview with a fake accent as if it was how I actually spoke, and neither did anyone else I know.

Because that is simply downright bizarre behavior.

This is not the first time we have seen different versions of Mamdani that seem like entirely different people. We have also seen him furious and screaming while protesting against ICE in a way that is entirely antithetical to the calm, never flustered, smiley character he plays now, as mayor.

Mamdani’s defenders say that he is merely "code-switching," and that so-called marginalized people will subconsciously speak one way with their own group and another way outside of it. Sorry, but this accent was so perfected and performative that there is zero chance he didn’t know he was doing it.

It does raise an interesting question though: Is the African accent how Zany Zohran really talks, behind closed doors? Could it be his American accent that is the performance? We can’t really know.

In a way, this goofy accent incident is a good metaphor for Democratic Socialism writ large. For outside audiences, they speak in Americanized, vague terms about helping the working class, but you get these same people on a private Zoom call and it's blood and guts communism all the way down.

How many times have we heard "Oh, they aren’t really socialists, they are Democratic Socialists," as if there is one scintilla of difference once they start talking about abolishing the Senate, controlling the housing market and seizing the means of production?

One does have to admit, though, that the casting directors at the DSA hit the ball out of the park with Zohran. His fake plastic smile is the pitch-perfect mask for his Marxism. But who really lies underneath? The African choreographer? The furious protester? All of them?

The overwhelming sense one gets with these DSA candidates, like Mamdani, and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and even Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, is that they are carefully curating just how radical they can appear to be to normal, everyday Americans, while their diehard supporters are in on the joke.

This was on display at El-Sayed’s victory party, last week, when he and podcasting antisemite Hasan Piker were talking to a supporter who told them, "People are stupid. This politics of no translation is going to be the way forward, money out of politics, money in your pocket, Medicare for all. No one has to decipher what that means." Piker and El-Sayed both appeared in agreement.

Mamdani and the DSA have proven that they will adopt any accent, don any garb, and utter any platitude to get the only thing that they really want, which is power over our lives.

The problem for New Yorkers and Americans is that we can have no idea what really lies beneath the many masks of Mamdani, whether he is the calm smiley American guy, the frothing lunatic protester, or the goofy African choreographer.

In fact, it seems like Mamdani is simply whoever he thinks you want him to be at any given moment. But it's getting old. As his budget numbers fail to line up and rents keep soaring, Gotham needs a leader, not a character actor.

Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins, Maxx Crosby get into scuffle in tense training camp moment

It doesn’t matter the time of year or the opponent; Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby knows how to get under people’s skin.

During the Raiders’ practice on Friday in Henderson, Nevada, Crosby drew the ire of Kirk Cousins.

Crosby hit Cousins’ arm twice during a team period, and after the second time, the usually mild-mannered quarterback was fed up. He charged after the star defender, grabbing his jersey and exchanging words. The two were quickly separated after teammates jumped in.

Cousins remained on the field to finish the drive with the first-team offense while Crosby was sent to the sideline.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said scuffles like that are part of training camp.

"Those are two leaders of our team going at it, so that is part of camp," Kubiak said. "Obviously, if you fight in a game and throw a punch in game, then you're out of the game. So we've got to be smart and treat it like a game."

Raiders tight end Michael Mayer praised Cousins for having an edge, but doesn’t want his starting quarterback throwing punches either.

"We don't want to be throwing punches, but I think on any padded day of camp, there's going to be some tussles," tight end Michael Mayer said. "That's our starting quarterback right now, and you want him to defend your team and you want him to have some edge to him, which he does. Hillary Clinton calls out far-left reluctance to support her, warns GOP 'communist' attacks will be effective

The tensions between the far-left and more establishment wings of the Democratic Party are not going away, as evidenced by some sharp comments from former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton this week.

Clinton lamented during a Friday interview that the far-left doesn’t fall in line and support establishment Democrats as figures like Hasan Piker are demanding fealty, while also warning Republican attacks on hard-left socialists could be "very effective."

"Pivot" podcast host Kara Swisher noted to Clinton that the Democratic Party is having a tense internal struggle between its more establishment and progressive wings to the point that Republican opposition has learned to capitalize on it.

"I think there's no doubt that, you know, the Republican Party is the Trump cult and the Democratic Party is a bigger tent. You know, we do have a broad cross-section of people, what they believe, what their experiences are. I think that's an advantage," Clinton said. "But we also have to win general elections."

Clinton noted that many Democrats now will have to learn to pivot and support the progressive Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign to defeat Republican Mike Rogers, while El-Sayed’s supporters will have to learn how to re-integrate defeated Haley Stevens and her supporters who they were "vilifying" online and in person.

Clinton warned that the Democratic Party’s coalition cannot afford to keep being a one-way street in terms of supporting candidates.

"One thing that we haven't yet seen enough of is that when the progressives, the left — whatever we want to call, you know, candidates on that side of the Democratic Party — when they lose, they often don't support the candidate that has been nominated," she said. "You know, there was a lot of reluctance to support Kamala Harris. There was a lot of reluctance to support me when I got the nomination. So, it can't be a one-way street."

"If we're going to have a fair election, as there was in Michigan, and somebody comes out ahead, a little bit ahead, but needs to get a huge percentage of the voters that voted for Haley, they're going to have to be willing to, you know, get in — get into a conversation that brings those people over," she added, noting that the real struggle will be persuading independents and Stevens supporters.

ROGERS OPENS DOOR TO DEMOCRATIC VOTERS AFTER EL-SAYED’S PRIMARY VICTORY: ‘THERE IS STILL HOPE’

Clinton went on to remark on the Republican messaging of accusing people of being a "communist" or "socialist," adding, "I assume that they have reason to believe that it's effective, or they wouldn't be beating the drum on it."

"And you can see that it’s not just about Michigan, but the Republican messaging is communist, socialist. It’s going to be a very effective attack," she said.

Even so, she said, such "scare tactics" did not stop the rise of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Clinton warned again that when moderates pivot to support progressive nominees, the progressive nominee needs to make sure that those moderates feel welcomed, adding, "Look, we’ve got to work together. We're not going to beat Republicans by being divided."

James Carville, who helped mastermind Bill Clinton's 1992 election victory, told Fox News Digital this week that the 2028 primary would be a true test of the strength of the far-left in the party. Carville has warned that he could leave the party if it makes room for extreme figures like Piker, who campaigned with El-Sayed.

Controversial streamer Hasan Piker's lecture axed by University of Washington amid free-speech questions

A University of Washington lecture featuring progressive Twitch commentator Hasan Piker is off, with school officials citing a flawed planning process as the reason for the cancellation.

Piker, a far-left streamer and YouTube personality, was set to appear in January as part of the school’s 2026-27 Speaker Series, the university said in a statement.

However, following "a review of the process by which the event was planned," the university canceled the event.

"It was determined that the process for organizing this event did not meet the necessary level of rigor for University-hosted events in the Speaker Series," the statement said.

"Going forward, procedures will be updated to ensure the standards we have for University-hosted events like the Speaker Series are met, particularly so that we can help elevate the level of dialogue on divisive topics during a polarized time in our country," it added.

The university’s cancellation of Piker, who previously said America "deserved 9/11" before later calling the remark "inappropriate," has prompted criticism from First Amendment advocates, with the nonprofit civil liberties group Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) condemning the move.

"If the decision was based on process — and not public backlash or criticism — @UW should be transparent about what standards were not met and how they were applied," the organization said in an X post.

"Public universities can set standards for events. But they can’t use those standards as cover for canceling a speaker because of their views," it added.

Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of the Charlie Kirk Show and a Turning Point USA spokesperson, said on X: "Let the radical Mao loving communist Hasan Piker speak, so long as he can resist the urge to call for the death of his political opponents. Universities do this to TPUSA often and blame some admin error etc. It’s wrong."

Piker, a socialist, rose to fame following a series of controversial comments, and most recently faced backlash after he called for Democrats who are unsupportive of Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed to face consequences for not holding the party line.

The popular streamer added that the party should use "Marxist-Leninist" punishment against anyone who fails to "follow the party line," but acknowledged that debate among the Democrats is expected in order to reach a decision.

HASAN PIKER CALLS FOR DEMOCRATS WHO OPPOSE ABDUL EL-SAYED TO BE 'PUNISHED'

His comments came just two days after El-Sayed secured the Democratic nomination, narrowly defeating Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., in the primary. Piker had previously appeared alongside El-Sayed on the campaign trail, who is set to face off against Republican nominee Mike Rogers in November.

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville, who has previously spoken out against Piker’s rhetoric, recently doubled down on his criticism of the podcaster.

"I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker," Carville said on "The Sunday Briefing" earlier this month. "If he becomes a force in a Democratic Party, I'm out of here. I have no intention of ever being in the same political party with that guy."

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Carville said that the Democrats will have to decide in the 2028 primary which direction it is headed in, as Piker’s viewpoints become more prevalent within the party.

"Everyone claims they're the ascendant ring, alright, on the 2028 presidential election, and this can only be resolved at the presidential level. I'm sure there'll be a robust number of candidates from what I would call the governing wing of the Democratic Party, but you call it what you want."

Nigeria's largest rescue operation frees 308 hostages held by militants in Kwara State

Victims held for six months in captivity at the hands of jihadi kidnappers in Nigeria detailed on Friday the harrowing conditions they were kept in after being liberated in what Nigerian officials are calling the largest rescue operation in the country's history.

Nigerian forces rescued at least 308 victims from captivity in the past week, with the bulk of the victims coming from two distinct groups. 163 of the victims were taken from the Woro community in Nigeria's Kwara State in a Feb. 3 raid that saw their jihadi kidnappers kill an additional 160 people in the Woro village.

The victims told the Associated Press that they believed they had been taken as punishment for refusing to accept and acquiesce to the religious preachings of the jihadis.

One woman, Hauwa Saliu, told the outlet that her captors constantly asked the victims if they had accepted jihad yet.

"We prayed to God to help us go back home, but it never really crossed our minds that we were going to go back home," she told the outlet.

Saliu, a nurse, also explained how she had to help 10 women give birth with no medical equipment or sanitary gloves.

"I had no choice but to use my bare hands," she told the outlet.

Mary Ishaya, 44, told the outlet that the captives often went days without food and had to bury other captives who had died.

"I still cannot find the right words to describe what has happened to us. We saw death and suffering," she said.

The governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, told reporters during a news conference that 46 victims were being treated at a hospital.

"This is indeed, indeed a very sad situation. We've not yet come to terms with it. We're still assessing the situation. As you can see, it's just kids ... children and women that are here today," he said. "It's truly a shame that this has happened."

'Seinfeld' star Patrick Warburton says making out with Carol Burnett felt 'like kissing mom'

Before Patrick Warburton became a fan favorite as David Puddy on "Seinfeld," he found himself in an unlikely role: Carol Burnett's much younger lover.

On "Nostalgia Tonight with Joe Sibilia," the actor recalled what it was like being paired with the legendary comedienne in a skit.

"I made out with her," he told Sibilia. "I was 27 at the time, and she played a soap star. She played the good sister, the good twin and the evil twin. They were both dating the same toy boy, which was 27-year-old me."

At the time, Burnett was in her late 50s.

"For me, it was kind of like kissing mom because I grew up with the family on ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’" he continued. "But it is funny as I look back. I made out with Carol Burnett. ... Me and the older gals, I don’t know!"

The 61-year-old joked there appeared to be a trend.

"I had a 94-year-old Betty White rub my naked chest down in bed in a show," Warburton told the outlet. "I have very interesting Eartha Kitt stories. Nothing too lascivious, but it’s just odd."

Another "Golden Girls" legend kept Warburton on his toes.

"I remember Bea Arthur was doing a three-episode arc on a TV show I was doing, and I was about 27 at the time when I did that as well," he explained. "There were about seven or eight of us that were all supposed to go get sushi for lunch. Everybody backed out. Bea Arthur looks at me, and she goes, ‘I want sushi, don’t you?’ And I go, ‘Well, yeah, I wanted it.’ And she goes, ‘You and I will go.’"

"So now I'm having lunch with Bea Arthur, and I'm 27," he continued. "Bea was lovely, but as we all know, Bea was also — there was just something kind of scary and imposing about that woman. And the character she played was not one to be trifled with.

"And I just felt very uncomfortable just sitting there at first having lunch with Bea. [But] we had a lovely lunch. She mostly talked about rescuing greyhound dogs because that was her cause. It's just weird, Joe. Me and the older gals, I don't know!"

Warburton later became a fan favorite as Puddy on the '90s sitcom "Seinfeld" and has voiced paraplegic police officer Joe Swanson on Seth MacFarlane's "Family Guy" since 1999.

Warburton previously spoke to Fox News Digital about how his parents, John and Barbara Warburton, had a particularly strong dislike of "Family Guy."

"They don't see it as satire. They see it as blasphemy," Warburton said. "So, it was just a conversation that we were never really able to have. We never saw eye to eye on it. But, yeah, they always hated that show."

Warburton said his parents objected to the animated series on moral grounds because they were "very religious." John, who died in 2018, spent three months at the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in Bardstown, Kentucky, where Thomas Merton was his spiritual advisor. He nearly became a monk before deciding to pursue a career in medicine.

According to Warburton, Barbara shared her husband's devout Catholic faith and his strong disapproval of their son's most popular shows.

"If Mom could possibly be worse than Dad, she is, yes," Warburton joked.

Warburton recalled that his mother's religious convictions led to another attempt to influence his work.

"I remember back in the day when we lived in Woodland Hills, my mom and dad came to visit. And we were in the kitchen, and my mom says, 'Are you going to work on "Seinfeld" today?' And I said, 'I am, as a matter of fact.' And she said, ‘I have this dynamic videotape that has converted a lot of my Jewish friends. If I gave it to you, would you give it to Jerry?’" Warburton recalled with a laugh.

Warburton said his mother didn't easily give up on her goal of converting Jerry Seinfeld to Catholicism.

"Years later, Jerry was performing [stand-up] in Pensacola, Florida," Warburton said. "And mom and dad wanted to go. And I go, 'I'll hook you up.' So, I call up Jerry, get them a couple of tickets. So, I talked to my mom after the show, and I go, ‘Did you enjoy Jerry?' And she goes, ’He was wonderful. I even wrote him a lovely thank-you letter.'

"And, at that point, that's when the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I go, 'You probably didn't just leave a letter, did you, Mom? You probably left a DVD.' And she goes, ‘I did,'" Warburton continued. "I go, ‘Do you know how disrespectful that is?’ And she said, ‘I only answer to one person, the Lord above.’ So, that's how they operate. That's how Mom operates."

Warburton told Fox News Digital he later brought up his mother's unexpected gift when he ran into Seinfeld in New York.

"We had a laugh, but yeah, I'm sure he didn't watch it," he said.

"He hasn't converted yet, as far as I know."

Though Warburton has previously described himself as a "bad Catholic," he told Fox News Digital he has "absolutely" had moments when he felt uncomfortable with some of his work because of his faith.

"Catholic guilt runs deep," he acknowledged. "But I believe God has a sense of humor."

'DEI queen': Virginia Dem's past embrace of far-left prosecutors unearthed

Shannon Taylor, now the Democratic nominee in the race for Virginia’s First Congressional district, once endorsed progressive prosecutorial blueprints, advocating for less incarceration and more diversity as a Henrico County commonwealth attorney — some of the same "Democratic values" that ended in tragedy in other parts of Virginia.

Shortly after coming into the role in 2012, Taylor fired seven prosecutors under her.

"I stated publicly that the office needs to have more diversity and I’m going to keep to that public statement," Taylor said in an interview ahead of the firings.

Her track record is sparking criticism that she used her role to prioritize ideological and political views at the expense of public safety. It’s also clashing with portrayals from her campaign, highlighting her work as a tough-on-crime figure as she looks to win over a Republican-leaning district.

Taylor highlighted her work as she topped a crowded field of Democratic candidates vying to challenge Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va.

"As Henrico’s top prosecutor for the last 14 years, Shannon has tried thousands of cases and put violent criminals, drug traffickers and abusers behind bars," Taylor states on her campaign website. "She has a record of shutting down fraudsters trying to take advantage of working families and locking up violent criminals who threaten our safety."

But that hasn’t always been the appearance she’s given.

After her seven firings, Taylor faced blowback for trying to hire a woman named Misty Whitehead as a police oversight prosecutor. However, before the role could be made official, social media posts from Whitehead surfaced that seemingly showed a pattern of attacking police.

Taylor faced backlash from the town’s county manager over her selected candidate.

"A county manager can’t tell a commonwealth’s attorney who to hire, but he can recommend whether or not local funds are included to supplement that salary. And in this case, I absolutely will not do it under any circumstances," County Manager John Vithoulkas said at the time.

Whitehead had a history of voicing concerns about police behavior and social justice that raised concerns for at least one county official, according to local reports.

Taylor defended her pick, telling local outlets that she believed the posts were "thoughtful analysis of the current events we are all living through."

Taylor also has ties to similarly-minded prosecutors in other counties — some of which entered the public eye recently due to tragic circumstances.

In Fairfax County, Virginia, news broke that Abdul Jalloh, a 32-year-old illegal alien from Sierra Leone, stabbed a Virginia resident to death at a bus stop despite over 30 prior arrests and a known tendency for violent behavior.

Jalloh’s criminal record included charges of rape, malicious wounding, assault, drug possession, identity theft, trespassing, larceny and firing a weapon.

Even so, prosecutor Steve Descano had dropped many of them, prompting concern and outrage from lawmakers.

"You dismissed the case, and it’s shameful," Rep. Brad Knott, R-N.C. said at a hearing where Descano was summoned to Congress to explain a series of similar cases.

Knott had been highlighting one such instance involving a child predator.

"When you dismiss a case, what happens to that defendant? He walks free. A disgusting, perverted individual preying on children, that you dismissed," Knott said.

Long before Descano’s time in the spotlight, Taylor had endorsed Descano, supporting his bid to become county prosecutor in 2019, citing shared outlooks.

"I am excited to endorse Steve Descano for Fairfax County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney because I know he will prioritize the same Democratic values we all share, making Fairfax a safe and just place for everyone and I am looking forward to working with him," Taylor wrote.

Taylor and Descano would go on to champion their shared values in a 2021 letter to the Biden Administration.

In it, the two joined 100 other district and county attorneys in championing a set of "21 principles for the 21st-Century prosecutor." The authors claimed that "tough on crime policies" had been "anathema to justice," championed an end to mandatory minimums and three-strike laws, advocated for taking immigration status into consideration when negotiating sentences and plea deals, and opposed calling rapists "rapists," drug dealers "drug dealers," and convicted criminals "felons" or "inmates."

"A number of elected reform-minded prosecutors are boldly redefining what it means to be a prosecutor," the letter states.

"She spent her time reshaping the prosecutor's office around identity politics, pushing a far-left agenda that put woke activism ahead of public safety, and fighting to turn Virginia into a far-left hellscape," Emma Hall, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee (RNC), said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Instead of prosecuting criminals and making Virginia safer, DEI queen Shannon Taylor chose to be a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant."

Having secured the Democratic nomination, Taylor now heads to the general election on Nov. 3. Wittman, the district’s incumbent, last won re-election in 2024 in a 56.3% to 43.5% victory over Democratic challenger Leslie Mehta, an attorney.

"I'm happy that I won this little social media lottery, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to put my book out there and go on tour and meet people and have fun. And I'd be stuck in the law office all the time... Now I have to leave for other reasons, so my father permits me to go out and do a tour," he joked.

The creator described his success as "accidental" and said there was no "influencer strategy." Ironically, he used to consider himself "chronically offline."

"I was 37 years old. So, you know, I felt like that ship had sailed. I wasn't going to go dance on TikTok. Probably not for the best."

He credited an ex-girlfriend with the initial idea of posting his reflections on the internet.

"I thought that was a ridiculous idea. But I eventually took her advice, especially after the breakup — that's when men always take all the good advice from their exes. And it worked. And it kept working."

Authentic exhaustion

Millennials — the generation to which De Pierro proudly belongs — have been experiencing burnout for years, with research reported from Gallup to even the National Institutes of Health supporting the claim.

De Pierro told Fox News Digital he often posts about "workplace malaise," dating fatigue, and other kinds of exhaustion because he finds it's not just relatable, it's real.

"I think that you can't fake the authenticity of exhaustion. I think the relatability is that it's real. And so I am a person who has worked and who has gone through relationship problems. I'm not an inexperienced, younger man who's just kind of making things up that might be relatable. And I guess you just can't fabricate that kind of authenticity," said De Pierro, musing on how what some might call his late arrival to social media makes him stand out from other career influencers.

"The authenticity is not special, this isn't unique to me. I'm just describing what we all go through, but you have to go through it first. And so, certainly, there is an advantage to being a content creator in your late 30s if you're going to be talking about the struggles of being alive."

The TikToker pointed to the prolific nature and timelessness of William Shakespeare as an example of connection.

"What does he have in common with me, a 15th century English guy?" he posited in the wide-ranging interview. "In reality, he has everything in common with you, because he's a human being."

And everyone can relate to the experiences that we all go through every day, which are universal."

As a working attorney, De Pierro made it clear that his online ponderings should not be taken as legal advice.

"I would never call what I'm doing online advice. Especially being a lawyer, I'm so afraid of the word ‘advice.’ We never advise you unless you are our client."

"I don't want people to listen to it as advice. I'm not an expert on anything. I'm sharing observations, sharing experiences, sharing thoughts, but certainly not advice. No, don't do anything I say," he joked.

"And so, I think that that plays into my character and my personality even in my videos. There's an exhaustion, there's a playful sense of pessimism there sometimes. A negativity almost. But it hides a more profound, I think, joy and optimism that Italians do have."

Despite referring to his portrayal in his social media videos as a "character," De Pierro told Fox News Digital that in the age-old Instagram vs. Reality — a concept that contrasts real-life with people's online personas — the lawyer-turned-comedian remains authentically himself.

"I mean, we all contain multitudes, right? So I think one of my personalities involves what I do in the car... All these little accents and modes of speaking are real to me. It depends on who I'm with. If I'm with my Jersey City friends, it's going to sound like "Goodfellas." But if I'm in a court of law, then I have to rein in it a little bit."

Despite often baring his soul online, De Pierro said sharing his thoughts for all the world to see hasn't affected his personal life much — yet.

"It is real, it is authentic, and so it doesn't affect my life because I'm already being myself on camera. So it's not like I'm suddenly unrecognizable to my friends and family, they know that guy intimately," De Pierro maintained.

"But on the other hand — I'm not dating much — but I suspect that it will affect my dating, because I think people are starting to get the impression that I'm this enlightened man, and maybe they're going to have expectations of me in dating that are unrealistic.

"I'm just as much of an idiot as the men that I talk about in my videos."

It is always easier to give advice than to take it, he added.

I've always been that friend that's really good at telling you what's wrong with you. But if I have to apply it to my own life, I'm probably going to fail nine times out of ten."

For someone who speaks openly about relationships and the roller coaster of emotions they bring, the Heartbreak Heartthrob reveals relatively little about the concrete details of his private life.

That's intentional.

"What's funny about all this is that I'm incredibly public in the sense that I am constantly sharing my thoughts, but I'm almost never sharing my life. I'm just in the car. No one knows where I live. No one's ever seen my family. No one has ever seen the lower half of my body. So I'm extremely private while at the same time having a therapy session in my car," De Pierro told Fox News Digital.

'No matter what, I have God'

De Pierro now speaks openly about many subjects with his growing following, but there is one he had to work his way up to: his faith.

He told Fox News Digital he is "100%" a Christian man, having gone to church every Sunday with his family all his life.

"My faith plays a huge role in my personal life. And so it was just a natural transition for me. As soon as I saw that I had this following and this kind of engagement, I thought, 'Wow, this is a perfect opportunity to speak about something that's really important to me.'"

De Pierro was inspired by the story of his grandfather, who died shortly after De Pierro was born.

"So I saw the opportunity that I had, and I thought to myself, 'Here I am, not even a tenth of the man that my grandfather was. And I have the opportunity to speak to millions of people at times. I have to use this opportunity, even if I could just plant a little seed of faith in these invisible people that are watching me from wherever they may be.'"

He has received no shortage of warm messages from viewers saying his posts have touched them and even helped them through hard times.

"It had a certain tone to it that it was just such a fantasy, and maybe it was the first time on television you could see so much skin because we really were playing lifeguards right so we could be in these skimpy outfits."

She went on to say that the show possibly left people thinking, "Oh my God, what is this? We can see nipples."

"And it wasn't porn. You know, what I mean? They didn't have to sneak away and find a VHS tape to like, sneak and put in. You can watch this," she added. "You can also learn something. Because, we heard from a lot of people, a lot of fans out there, that they learned so much watching the show."

Electra credited the show's sexy nature as one of the reasons it became the global phenomenon it is, saying they were "sometimes trying to be sexy, sometimes not trying to be sexy" and that "all of a sudden, you get these guys on there with these gorgeous bodies."

In addition to the sexy aspect of the show, Electra attributed its success to the fact that fans could learn something from the show, including how to give CPR, adding she also "learned how to give CPR," and joked, "I could save someone right now if I needed to."

The actress and model joined the show in 1997 for its eighth season, after gaining exposure from posing for Playboy in a 1996 pictorial.

In terms of returning for the new reboot of the series, Electra is open to putting on the iconic red one-piece once again, since her former love interest on the show, David Chokachi has signed on to return.

"I could do something. Come in, have another love scene with David Chokachi. Just something really cute and fun. I would be down to get into the water again," she said. "I think it would be fun it makes sense I was David Chokachi's love interest way back then. I think it would be really fun and why not, you know?"

His character, Cody Madison, is now the owner of a beachside bar, The Shoreline, and also acts as a mentor to the younger new lifeguards.

"I think it would be so cool if I just came in for an episode to surprise him and say hi. They fall in love again, who knows," Electra said.

One thing the actress is not willing to go through again is "the schooling that I did when I first joined the cast," noting, "that was really tough."

Following her time on "Baywatch," Electra had a successful career in both film and television, appearing in films such as "Scary Movie," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," "Meet the Spartans" and others.

She also recently appeared as a contestant on "Nation's Dumbest," a new celebrity competition show. She told Fox News Digital she originally didn't want to do it, saying, "I didn't pay attention in school" and that she "didn't have a good feeling about it."

"Fox kept getting on the phone. They're like, it's gonna be so easy. It's gonna be fun. It's like acting think of it as an acting role," she said. "Once I was not there anymore, I kind of missed it...and there was a lot of fun. I did miss the cast a lot but yeah, I think we were all sitting there going, 'What? Why the hell did we subject ourselves to be on this show?'"

"I definitely had a lot of anxiety and I would freeze. As soon as we would have to rush and say something, answer a question really fast or there was something weird we had to do," she added. "It could be very stressful and I would freeze."

When it came to a moment that still haunts her, Electra couldn't believe she couldn't remember what BBL stood for, saying the producers threw in "a really easy question that she's gonna get and I got it wrong. I couldn't believe it."

The show features celebrity contestants who undergo pop quizzes and physical challenges with the ultimate goal of being eliminated as early as possible, in order to avoid being the last one standing and being named the nation's dumbest.

Electra was ultimately eliminated after the fourth episode of the show, which aired on Aug. 5.

"Nation's Dumbest" airs on Wednesdays at 9:00 PM on Fox, with new episodes available the following day on Hulu.

Slain California fire captain’s wife admits murder after Mexico capture, serving time for killing first spouse

A California woman has pleaded guilty to murdering her fire captain spouse last year, decades after she was convicted in the fatal stabbing of her former husband.

Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi, 54, pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the death of her wife, Rebecca "Becky" Marodi, 49, a longtime California firefighter who was found fatally stabbed at the couple’s Ramona home in February 2025.

When asked by the judge how she pleaded to count 1, second-degree murder, Marodi said, "Guilty."

As part of the plea, Marodi also admitted to having a prior serious felony conviction stemming from the 2000 stabbing death of her then-husband, James Joseph Olejniczak.

She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in that case in 2003 before her release in 2013, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Rebecca Marodi, a veteran Cal Fire captain, suffered multiple stab wounds during the Feb. 17, 2025 attack.

Prosecutors said surveillance footage captured her fleeing the home as Yolanda Marodi pursued her. Rebecca was found with several injuries to her neck, chest and back that authorities said were consistent with a stabbing.

Investigators later alleged that Marodi fled to Mexico after the killing, where she remained for more than a month before being arrested in Mexicali and returned to the United States.

Marodi had initially pleaded not guilty to Rebecca’s murder before changing her plea to guilty to second-degree murder.

$20 avocado toast fuels outrage as travelers say airport food prices are out of control

Travelers are increasingly questioning why a quick bite at the airport can come with a restaurant-level price tag, according to several reports.

A recent viral post on X added to the frustration after a traveler slammed a nearly $20 avocado toast purchased at an airport in the South.

The traveler said the $19.64 breakfast was supposed to include toasted sprout bread, avocado, extra virgin olive oil, bacon and crushed red pepper — but many commenters said the dish looked far less appetizing than the price suggested.

California chef and restaurateur Andrew Gruel looked at photos of the avocado toast and said he was not impressed.

"It [is] probably sold as avocado purée. ... They took a disposable plastic knife, and they wiped it on a piece of toast," Gruel told Fox News Digital in an interview.

"But it doesn't surprise me, and I don't put it on the actual worker who made that," he added as he shared his personal point of view.

Gruel believes the quality of food at airports is going down as the prices are going up.

"Nowadays, all you're getting is just prepackaged, co-packed foods at airports," he said.

"You'll have one vendor that's going to prepackage sandwiches and wraps and hard-boiled eggs, and maybe some meat and cheese platters," he added.

Gruel said he believes much of the food at sit-down restaurants in airports is "overpriced garbage."

"That is rarely cooked from scratch," he said. But "I don't want to say that there's no good food at airports."

Texas-based travel industry expert and author of the blog "View From the Wing" told Fox News Digital that the issue goes beyond one expensive breakfast that's been called out on social media.

Airport restaurants contend with higher rents, limited storage space, stricter security requirements for deliveries and higher labor costs, all of which contribute to higher menu prices, Leff and Gruel said.

"It's expensive to operate there," Leff said.

He added that some airports advertise "street pricing," but the wording isn't always clear.

"They never really tell you which street," Leff said.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey even allows airport concessionaires to charge up to 15% more than comparable off-airport "street prices," according to the official Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Concessionaire Street Pricing Standards and Procedures Manual.

"More expensive, not as good," Leff said about all airport food in general.

The pricey avocado toast is far from the only expensive item travelers find at airport restaurants.

A burger at Paris Cafe in New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport costs $34, according to the restaurant's online menu.

Barney's Beanery at Los Angeles International Airport charges $21.30 for its Barney Breakfast, which includes eggs, hash browns and toast, according to the airport's Shop & Dine website.

"Even if you just want a bottle of water, you're paying $5 or $6 for a cheap bottle," Gruel said. "That's where they're making their money."

The viral avocado post prompted travelers to share their own frustrations.

"Airport food prices are absolutely out of control," one Reddit user wrote.

"Breakfast burrito to go ... $36 bucks. I thought maybe I broke a window or something, and they added that on," one Reddit user quipped.

While some airport lounges offer quality meals, Leff said he wouldn't recommend purchasing lounge access just for the food.

Gruel agreed. "I'd say be careful of the airport lounge food because, most of the time, it's just sitting out there, you know, under a sneeze guard and everybody's putting their hands all over it," he said.

Leff suggested eating before arriving at the airport or bringing food from home.

Additional advice: Look for sandwiches.

"I would never spend $25 on pizza like that. But I've actually had a few good sandwiches at airports," Gruel said.

He added, "Tortas Frontera, which is Rick Bayless's shop in Chicago's [O'Hare] airport — they make a pretty good sandwich. Granted, it's $25 for a sandwich, maybe $20, but it's a good quality product."

Was El-Sayed misquoted? Was there missing context? I guess not. He hopped on Twitter last night and didn't say he was misquoted, or misunderstood. "I don’t think the most 'American place in MI' can be a place that…bans cars," he tweeted.

That was it. He didn't clarify his remarks about hating Mackinac.

On Monday, I introduced you guys to Macy Kate, the reality TV music star who is now trying to rebuild her career as a country singer. She sang the national anthem at a Dodgers game last week. Then I learned she's dating a Tampa Bay tight end. As I told you guys, it just feels like we could have a breakout star on our hands, but this news that she had a sweater over her shoulders at Bucs camp concerns me.

My school would always provide some things, but not a lot and not very quality (those thin cardboardish tissues… some kids will just wipe noses on their shirts before using them). Also, look at class sizes at your kids’ school. I’d usually have classes (middle school) of 30+ kids, totaling 120ish students on my roster. You can fly through supplies fast; I always end up spending my own money in the spring.

I say all that just to provide teacher perspective. But I agree that some school stuff is excessive and exhausting. An incredible teacher I know would always remind other teachers to ask, "Why are we here? Why are we doing this?" And if it’s not to help the students, then don’t. Those are great questions to ask before sending this stuff home to parents.

At first, I thought this was fake because the first screencap I saw came from some random account. Then I saw Dakich's buddy Jason Hammer post it. Very, very odd.

Spain's migrant surge reignites debate over Europe’s Islamist terror threat

The estimated 72,000 Moroccan migrants who flooded into the Spanish city of Ceuta within 24 hours is shining the spotlight on Europe’s massive problem of illegal and legal migration and the threat of growing Islamic terrorism.

Mideast and European commentators who closely follow Islamic extremism across the continent say Europe’s political class needs to tackle the origins of radical Islamism to prevent terrorism.

According to a July Europol (formerly known as the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation) report, Spain recorded the highest number of arrests (117) for "jihadist terrorism-related offenses" within the European Union during 2025.

CEUTA MIGRANT SURGE EXPOSES SPAIN-MOROCCO TENSIONS AS ISLAMIST GROUPS REPORTEDLY SEEK TO EXPLOIT BORDER CRISIS

Some Spanish outlets claimed that the Spanish Civil Guard and police identified "about a dozen" individuals previously deported from Spain for suspected terror-related offenses among those who entered Ceuta last week. However, Euro News reported that Spain’s interior ministry said it has not confirmed those reports.

Quoting the ministry, it stated that "The Spanish public and the people of Ceuta can be confident that the arrivals on 30 July do not pose a threat to public security." The report also cited the interior ministry as saying that so far this year 82 people had been arrested for offenses related to jihadist terrorism.

Lorenzo Vidino, Director of the Program on Extremism at The George Washington University, and expert on Islamism in Europe and North America, told Fox News Digital, "This is Europe. This is the way it has been for the last 15 years, with some ebbs and flows." He said about the new Europol report that "It is more in line with the last 10 years. Europe has sadly learned to live with this reality."

British political commentator and Mideast expert, Tom Gross, told Fox News Digital: "Europe’s ruling classes need to be honest. It is not racist to point out the obvious: that most terrorism in Western Europe today is being fueled by radical Islamic mosques and teachers."

He added, "Leaders in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Egypt acknowledge this. Why can’t Western leaders?"

Gross said, "Politicians such as new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez, need to stop fueling the propaganda of radical Muslims by implying that there has been some kind of genocide against Muslims in Gaza, when there has been nothing of the sort."

He continued, "If they really want to help push back radical Islam, European leaders should be assisting, not criticizing, those in Washington and elsewhere calling for the downfall of Iran’s Islamic dictatorship."

In April, the U.K. raised its national terror threat level to "severe" following an antisemitic attack in London when a Somali immigrant stabbed two men. A "Severe" warning, according to authorities means another terrorist attack is considered "highly likely" in the next six months.

A spokesperson for London’s Mayor Khan told Fox News Digital that "The Mayor has invested £16 million (approxmiately $21.5 million) – more than any other Mayor – to support grassroots community groups to stand up to hate and intolerance. This includes £6 million (approximately $8 million) through his Shared Endeavour Fund to give Londoners the tools and skills to tackle extremism."

GERMAN OFFICIALS WARN ISLAMIST, FAR-LEFT RHETORIC DRIVING SPIKE IN ANTISEMITIC ATTACKS

Late last month, the alleged Islamist State terrorist, the 21-year-old German-Lebanese man, Abdul Ballout, drove a van into the Berlin Pride Parade event, murdering one woman and injuring nearly 30 people. The German authorities had released Ballout despite his recent conviction related to supporting the Islamic State.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told public broadcaster ZDF during an interview that in light of the 21-year-old suspect's conviction and record of backing the Islamic State, it did not make sense that the man was roaming free.

"You can assume that it certainly would have made sense to put this person in custody," he noted.

Khan’s spokesperson also cited an X Post from the Mayor following the Berlin Pride attack: "My thoughts are with everyone affected by the horrific attack in Berlin and their families. This appalling act of violence has no place in our society. London stands in solidarity with Berlin’s LGBTQ+ community. This is why Pride matters. Those who seek to spread hatred and division will never win."

SCATHING REPORT CALLS ON US TO LABEL ISLAMIST GROUP INFILTRATING ALL ASPECTS OF AMERICAN LIFE AS TERRORIST ORG

A new report by Germany’s federal intelligence that documents threats to the constitutional order estimates that there are roughly about 28,000 members of Germany’s Islamist scene. Approximately 9,110 are currently assessed to have an "orientation to violence. "The type of violence is defined as jihadi violence."

Germany’s federal interior ministry, which publishes the annual domestic intelligence threat report, notes that crimes attributed to "religious ideology" have climbed from 134 in 2022 to 998 last year. Radical Islamist crimes are reportedly understood to make up the main portion of the "religious ideology" category.

Germany’s neighbor, France, experienced another stabbing just days after the attack in Germany. A suspect reportedly stabbed three women in Paris and declared as people captured him after the attack, "it is Allah who commanded me."

Vidino said, "The incident in Paris it seems one of the cases" regarding the how an attack is classified: "Is it terrorism? Is it a crazy guy? Often times, Europeans play down the ideological motive and cite mental health. Some countries tend to do it more than others. Most Europeans go for downplaying of the ideological component."

AMERICAN ‘JIHAD’ FUELED BY 'RISKY SOURCE' INSIDE US BORDERS, WARNS NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT

Austria’s intelligence agency announced in May on its website that it arrested a group of suspected Islamist terrorists, which included five males aged between 14 and 45 and one 16-year-old female. "The individuals concerned are suspected of having committed offenses related to Islamist extremism and terrorism in Austria, for example through membership of a terrorist organization, incitement to terrorist offenses, dissemination of IS [Islamic State] propaganda, and approval of terrorist offenses," wrote the Austrian agency.

In June, Swedish authorities arrested a teenage boy who pledged allegiance to the Islamist State and idolized suicide bombers, according to Swedish media. He issued death threats to students at school and showed pictures of beheaded people.

Nervana Mahmoud, a British-Egyptian medical doctor who has written extensively about Islamist terrorism and indoctrination, told Fox News Digital that "The current challenge facing Europe is, in many ways, a battle over Islamist extremism and its place within Western societies. To address the threat at its source, European governments need to focus on preventing radicalization and disrupting foreign funding and ideological networks that fuel extremist movements. Without tackling these root causes, the risk of future terrorist attacks will remain."

SENATE CLEARS WAY FOR TRUMP'S TOP SPY AS KEY ANTI-TERROR PROGRAM REMAINS IN LIMBO

Mahmoud said, "The United States should learn from Europe’s experience rather than simply criticize it. It has an opportunity to strengthen prevention efforts early by fostering a shared American identity within immigrant communities, disrupting foreign funding that may promote extremist influence through universities and think tanks, and working with Muslim Americans who reject Islamism and uphold democratic values. Long-term success will require not only strong security measures but also sustained efforts to prevent radicalization before it takes hold."

The United Kingdom’s judicial system recorded a series of convictions of Islamist terrorists in July. Abdullah Bin Yasir was imprisoned for two and a half years after admitting he had bomb-making guides linked to an Islamic State-aligned entity. The construction of bomb material was designed to carry out a terrorist attack.

Late last month, in Wigston, Britain, the authorities arrested a 27-year-old man for supporting the Islamic State.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the 31-year-old Mohammad Bashir "pleaded guilty to preparing an act of terrorism" against a British defense target.

A spokesperson for the British Home Office told Fox News Digital, "The United Kingdom has one of the most robust counter-terrorism systems in the world. We remain committed to ensuring our Police and Security Services have the tools and powers they need to prevent the spread of violent ideologies and keep the country safe."

The spokesperson added, "This includes a wide range of terrorist offenses and specialized powers designed to risk, support prosecution, and strengthen management of terrorist offenders. Islamist terrorism remains the primary domestic threat to the United Kingdom, accounting for roughly three quarters of the Security Service’s casework."

Northern continental Europe is also facing a serious Jihadi terrorist threat. According to a late May Danish Security and Intelligence Service statement, the "CTA [Center for Terror Analysis in Denmark] assesses that the terrorist threat from militant Islamists remains at the level of significant."

Vidino said there has been a silver lining since the outbreak of the Islamic State terrorist attacks in Europe. "I would say I do think most European law enforcement agencies and security forces have gotten better over the years. When the big ISIS radicalization took place, small countries were completely unprepared to deal with it." He cited Switzerland, Austria and the Scandinavian countries.
