Stephen Colbert emerges from cancellation to urge Emmy voters to select Jimmy Kimmel over own show

Stephen Colbert, who hosted his final episode of "The Late Show" in May, continued his long-running bromance with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday by encouraging Emmy voters to consider the ABC late-night host for best variety show.

Colbert’s since-canceled "Late Show" is nominated for Outstanding Variety Series at the 2026 Emmy Awards, along with "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," "The Daily Show" and "Saturday Night Live." A bearded Colbert filmed a brief video for social media while sitting in a chair atop a cliff overlooking a large body of water to suggest his liberal pal deserves the award instead of his own program.

"Oh, hi, Stephen Colbert here at the end of the world. You know, there is 24 hours in Emmy voting, and if you’re anything like me, you haven’t even started yet. So, let’s get going," Colbert said.

"First up we have, oh, Outstanding Variety Series … I think we can all agree that Jimmy Kimmel deserves an Emmy. I don’t care if you’ve never even seen his show, you know he deserves an Emmy," Colbert continued while showing an image of Kimmel on his tablet. "Besides, look how cute he is. Anyway, please consider thinking that Jimmy deserves an Emmy. I do. I love you."

NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck called Colbert’s plea "beyond pathetic and embarrassing."

"It's a perfect reminder of how this is such a club that only seeks to further their partisan, fun house mirrors world that's all-Trump hate, all the time. These are two of the people most responsible for the decline in network comedy and why no one should take the profession seriously without sweeping changes," Houck told Fox News Digital.

Kimmel, who has publicly attacked CBS for pulling the plug on Colbert’s show, has followed a similar playbook as his buddy by mocking President Donald Trump on a nightly basis. Kimmel and Colbert have widely praised each other, appeared on each other’s programs and the former even went dark during the final episode of CBS’ "Late Show."

"I will be watching tomorrow night. I hope that those of you who watch our show will also tune in to CBS for the last time. Don’t ever watch it again," Kimmel said on the eve of Colbert’s farewell show.

The cancellation of "The Late Show," which CBS announced in 2025, sparked a national debate as Colbert's liberal defenders accused the network of pulling him off the air for political reasons. The announcement came just days after CBS parent company Paramount settled Trump's "60 Minutes" lawsuit.

Shortly after the cancellation was announced, Trump's FCC approved Paramount's multibillion-dollar merger with Skydance Media, which is run by David Ellison, son of billionaire Trump ally Larry Ellison.

CBS maintained that the cancellation was purely a financial decision, a claim Colbert openly rejected on his show in defiance of his corporate bosses. However, it was reported at the time that "The Late Show" was losing the network a whopping $40 million per year.

Months later, Kimmel found himself in hot water again when an "expectant widow" joke about first lady Melania Trump went viral on social media in the wake of the attack at the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) Dinner. The poorly aged joke resulted in both the president and first lady calling for ABC to act.

Callaway ends partnership with Good Good, PGA Tour event renamed in latest fallout to controversial driver ad

If you thought "cancel culture" was behind us, think again.

The seemingly never-ending saga of Good Good Golf's now-deleted ad has taken yet another more ridiculous turn Thursday afternoon. For some background, Good Good has one of the largest YouTube channels in the golf space and has been enormously popular with younger demographics. They've quickly built themselves into a significant brand in golf, including a successful retail operation and partnerships with major club manufacturers, the Golf Channel and now even a PGA Tour event sponsorship.

Or, had built themselves.

In order to promote the release of its co-branded driver with Callaway, Good Good briefly released an online ad that featured one of the company's founders, Garrett Clark, appearing to shoulder check a woman to the ground. The ad, which was very poorly conceived and executed, immediately came in for immense and well-deserved criticism. While it was meant to be a parody of the movie "Obsession," it looked and felt viscerally bad, and the image of a man knocking down a woman should obviously never have been approved or released.

The fallout though, has been extreme and hyperbolic. Several major retailers, like Dick's Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, the PGA Tour Superstore and reportedly some Target stores, pulled Good Good merchandise off the shelves. The scheduled release of their "Big Break x Good Good" television show was postponed after Golf Galaxy wanted to pull their title sponsorship.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, freshly over from the NFL, an organization known for its impeccable handling of domestic violence, said he was disappointed with how the initial apology was handled and hinted that the aforementioned event coming up this fall may not take place under the "Good Good" name.

But the biggest, and most absurd blow, came Thursday afternoon when Callaway Golf issued a lengthy statement announcing that they had severed ties with Good Good effective immediately. Seriously.

After explaining that they have "listened and reflected deeply on the hurt and disappointment caused by the video we reposted" and that they spoke to individuals who had "personal experiences related to violence against women," the statement condemns "violence against women" as unacceptable and reiterates that it "should never be trivialized, normalized, or used as entertainment."

They then announce how they're handling it, with three main outcomes.

"Callaway has ended its relationship with Good Good, effective immediately," the statement says.

It then explains that their "content review process was not comprehensive enough," and they have taken "appropriate internal corrective actions and significantly strengthened our approval procedures to help ensure this does not happen again."

Callaway will also commit "$1 million to support organizations working to prevent violence against women, provide resources to survivors, and advance education and awareness efforts."

Finally, they say that "These actions do not undo the harm caused or excuse our role in it. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt, disappointed, or offended by this incident," and reaffirm their commitment to making golf a welcoming place for all.

Here's the problem with this statement: it's an absurd overreaction. Obviously, violence against women is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. The issue, in this instance, is that it has frequently been "used as entertainment" by other brands with little critical reception. A popular Snickers commercial depicted Betty White getting tackled on a muddy football field. One Reebok ad featured a football player tackling office workers, including a woman. Does that mean Snickers and Reebok condone domestic violence? Of course not.

Nor does this ad mean Good Good condones domestic violence. Or that they do not believe women belong in golf. One of the company's side channels launched not too long ago is "Good Good Girls," giving a group of young women an opportunity to build their own YouTube brand.

Some sports leagues treat accusations or even charges of actual domestic violence less seriously than this. Which is the real problem, not a poorly thought out ad. Focus on criticism of the NFL for how it handles legitimate accusations. But of course, that would never happen, because the NFL can do no wrong.

Then, later Thursday afternoon, the PGA Tour announced that Good Good had pulled out of their sponsorship of the upcoming event scheduled for November.

Again, this hyperbolic reaction is a perfect example of the performative cancel-culture world that many believed was behind us. And we know it’s performative because none of the other big brand names involved — the PGA Tour, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy and the PGA Tour Superstore — have announced any plans to drop Callaway products from their companies, despite the club manufacturer being the one to give final approval for the ad’s release.

If this, again, very bad ad is so horrific, so monstrous that it requires all this, why are there no consequences for Callaway? Sure, they’re donating money, which is great. Victims of domestic violence should be supported and are often desperate for resources to escape their circumstances. But why not pull their drivers out of Golf Galaxy if they’re now so inextricably linked to domestic violence?

Not to mention all these companies are run by corporate executives who have little issue with male athletes playing sports against women, where those same young girls they claim to care about are put at serious risk of injury.

It can't be repeated enough, this ad should not have been released. It was poorly conceived and poorly executed, and the "Obsession" parody was an inexplicable marketing choice. Should it result in the permanent expulsion of Good Good from public life? No, of course not.

Especially since Callaway is seemingly skipping away into the sunset, as giving them actual consequences would hurt the bottom lines of the PGA, Dick’s and so on too much to be tolerated.

US removes radioactive cancer-treatment material from Central American country over 'dirty bomb' risk

A highly radioactive material used to treat cancer is back on U.S. soil after American officials removed it from Guatemala over concerns it could be stolen and used to create a "dirty bomb."

The cobalt-60 source had been housed inside a disused medical radiation device before U.S. and Guatemalan teams removed the radioactive component and transported it to secure storage in the United States.

The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) announced the operation Thursday, saying it was part of a broader effort to prevent dangerous radioactive materials from falling into the hands of terrorists and other adversaries.

The operation began in May, when specialists from the NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico worked with a facility in Guatemala to remove part of a U.S.-origin teletherapy machine containing cobalt-60.

Guatemalan officials assisted with transportation, logistics and physical security.

Cobalt-60 is used in medical devices to treat cancer, but the NNSA said highly radioactive sources can pose a security threat if stolen. The agency said the material removed from Guatemala could have been used to create a radiological weapon, commonly known as a "dirty bomb."

The removal comes as the Trump administration emphasizes preventing terrorists from obtaining chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons. The administration's 2026 Counterterrorism Strategy identifies preventing terrorists from acquiring such weapons as a critical U.S. national security responsibility.

"Our mission is simple: protect American citizens, secure our borders, and ensure our adversaries never get their hands on materials that could harm our country," Matthew Napoli, deputy administrator for the NNSA's Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, said.

"This successful removal is a massive win for homeland security and demonstrates our positive relationship with the Guatemalan government. NNSA will do whatever it takes to defend America and keep our communities safe," Napoli added.

Guatemala's National Centre of Radioactive Wastes and Ministry of Energy and Mines provided transportation, logistical and physical security support during the operation, according to the NNSA.

"Thanks to our collaboration with NNSA and DTRA in removing high-risk radioactive material from our facility, we were able to eliminate the danger it posed to our community and country," Mayra Villatoro, head of the Unit of Technical Laboratories at Guatemala's Ministry of Energy and Mines, said.

After the NNSA securely packaged the cobalt-60 component, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) provided secure transportation back to the U.S.

"The successful repatriation of the cobalt-60 source is a product of vital U.S. Government interagency cooperation," Robert Bridges, DTRA program manager of Nuclear Transportation & Disposition, said. "We are proud to work with NNSA to take meaningful action in their mission to eliminate radiological risk and keep America safe."

The operation is part of the NNSA Office of Radiological Security's work with foreign governments and other partners to remove high-activity radioactive material and strengthen protections around radioactive sources.

WWE adds Wrestlepalooza: Perth to 2026 calendar in return to Australia

Wrestlepalooza is returning to the WWE premium live event calendar this year.

WWE will host Wrestlepalooza: Perth on Dec. 12, 2026, from the RAC Center in Perth, Australia, OutKick has learned on Thursday. The event will kick-start a three-year agreement between WWE and the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia, which will run through 2028.

Ratko Mladić, 'Butcher of Bosnia' convicted of genocide, dies at 84

Ratko Mladić, the Bosnian Serb warlord general who oversaw wartime atrocities as he led forces that carried out the worst massacre in Europe since World War II, has died. He was 84.

Mladić, known as the "Butcher of Bosnia," died at a hospital in The Hague, Netherlands, U.N. court officials said.

He had been in custody since 2011 after years on the run for war crimes committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

In 2017, he was sentenced to life in prison.

Mladić was one of the most notorious figures in the conflict that left more than 100,000 people dead and displaced more than a million others.

Under his command, Bosnian Serb troops took control of large swaths of Bosnia and Herzegovina and laid siege to the capital of Sarajevo and other cities. His forces detained non-Serb civilians and enemy soldiers in concentration camps and systematically slaughtered prisoners.

Despite the charges levied against him, Mladić never showed remorse. In court, he yelled at the judges when he was sentenced.

"He was murdered there, in those dungeons," Janko Seslija, a former Bosnian Serb soldier, told The Associated Press. "I feel sorry for Gen. Mladić. He was an honorable man, honorable soldier and commander."

A former Communist-era military officer, Mladić sided with the Serbs as Yugoslavia broke apart and disintegrated into war. He led a Serb insurgency in Croatia before taking over the Bosnian Serb army, according to The AP.

Among the horrors Mladić was charged with was the 1995 slaughter of up to 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica, which was supposed to be a safe zone guarded by Dutch peacekeepers.

White House silent on Iran-Oman Hormuz plan Tehran says would ban US warships

The Trump administration spent months insisting Iran did not control passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

But after Iran and Oman unveiled a proposed framework that Tehran says would exclude military vessels if finalized, the White House would not say whether President Donald Trump would accept any restriction on U.S. warships under the arrangement.

U.S. Central Command, meanwhile, rejected Iran’s underlying claim of authority.

"Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins told Fox News Digital. "The strait is an international waterway that commercial vessels continue to transit with U.S. military assistance."

Fox News Digital asked whether Trump would accept a restriction on U.S. military vessels if the proposal becomes binding, whether American forces would be expected to comply and whether U.S. warships retain the right to operate in the strait regardless of any future arrangement. The White House did not respond.

Hawkins said U.S. forces have helped nearly 1,500 vessels transit the strait since early May.

The silence marks a shift after months in which the administration publicly challenged Iranian efforts to dictate passage through Hormuz. Secretary of State Marco Rubio repeatedly called a proposed toll system illegal and unacceptable, while Trump threatened Oman this month if it "gets in the way" of a U.S. deal with Iran.

The administration has also spent months applying military and economic pressure aimed at reopening the strait on U.S. terms. American forces have struck Iranian military targets, protected commercial shipping and maintained a blockade of Iranian ports, while the administration expanded sanctions through its new Operation Economic Outcast campaign.

Those measures have helped push some ships back through Hormuz, but traffic remains far below pre-war levels.

Oil flows through the strait stood Monday at about 5 million barrels per day, down from more than 20 million barrels per day before the war, according to Reuters, which cited provisional Vortexa tracking data.

Iran is now pursuing a reopening arrangement that, by its account, would preserve a measure of control over the waterway while excluding foreign military vessels.

Oman and Iran announced a proposed framework Monday to reopen the strait through a joint temporary navigational corridor and a joint mine-clearing project.

Their joint statement said technical talks would continue on a permanent corridor, future administration of the strait, traffic management and security services, leaving key terms unresolved.

Iranian officials filled in some of those blanks Tuesday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the temporary arrangement would route commercial ships entering the Persian Gulf through Iranian waters, with outbound traffic moving through Iranian and Omani waters. He said the proposal would exclude military vessels if it becomes binding.

Separately, Sepah News, an outlet run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, quoted IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi as saying Iran and Oman had reached agreements on "each country’s share of the strait’s waters" and the two countries’ "share of its revenues."

Mohebbi also accused the U.S. of obstructing the talks.

But Oman’s public statement did not mention a military-vessel ban, transit fees or revenue sharing, and described the framework as proposed. Iranian officials also told Reuters the arrangement was not yet final.

That leaves the arrangement’s most consequential question unresolved: whether Iran can use the emerging commercial shipping framework to restrict American military access to the strait — and what the Trump administration intends to do if Tehran tries.

Josh Jacobs faces two misdemeanors chargers after strangulation arrest and Packers prepare for any scenario

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs faces up to $20,000 in fines or up to 18 months in prison if he is convicted of two misdemeanor charges filed on Thursday by the Brown County (Wisconsin) District Attorney in connection to a May domestic abuse arrest.

Jacobs was charged with one count of battery and one count of criminal damage to property, according to Wisconsin court records. Each carry up to a nine-month jail sentence if Jacobs is convicted.

The formal charges filed by DA David L. Lasee come three months after Jacobs was arrested on charges following a domestic situation at his home near Green Bay.

Jacobs was originally arrested on charges stemming from a May 23 incident and was booked on charges of felony strangulation/suffocation, domestic-abuse battery, domestic-abuse criminal damage to property, domestic-abuse disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim.

Lasee filed charges against Jacobs after promising to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident. That investigation, obviously, led the DA to file lesser charges and not the felony charge.

The battery charge stems from what Lasee is contending was evidence that shows Jacobs "did cause bodily harm to [his ex-girlfriend] by an act done with intent to cause bodily harm to that person, without the person's consent ..."

The second charge, according to Lasee, is the result of Jacobs causing "damage to the physical property of another, a phone, belonging to [his ex-girlfriend] ... without consent..."

"Our office sought to ensure a fair and complete review of available evidence, some of which only recently became available to our office due to significant, ongoing forensic efforts by law enforcement," Lasee said in a statement.

"A criminal complaint is nothing more than a written, formal accusation against a defendant alleging the commission of criminal offenses and does not raise any inference of guilt.

"Mr. Jacobs is presumed innocent of these charges. As this is an ongoing criminal case, and out of respect for the rights of all parties, our office will not have further comment on the matter at this time."

The attorneys representing Jacobs – David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F. Duchac III. – released a statement that seemingly took a victory lap over the lesser charges being applied.

"The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence," the statement reads. The NFL has been monitoring the events of this situation from the time Jacobs was arrested and will continue to do so, per a league spokesperson.

Jacobs is subject to discipline under the league's Personal Conduct Policy regardless of the outcome of the next legal steps, be that a trial, a plea-bargain or even an outright dropping of the changes because the policy frowns upon negative publicity being shined on the NFL.

That means the NFL does not necessarily have to wait for a trial. It can discipline Jacobs for his arrest. But while that possibility exists, it is more likely the NFL will finish its investigation when the legal process has concluded.

Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst said at a news conference this week that the Packers are prepared for whatever circumstances this saga brings and that includes in the possibility of a suspension during the 2026 season.

The Packers being prepared seems hard to believe because MarShawn Lloyd is Green Bay's backup running back at the moment, and he has only played one regular-season game in his career, that coming in 2024.

Lloyd hasn't so far been impressive in preseason games.

The team also has Pierre Strong, Jr., and Chris Brooks, both of whom have regular-season experience, on the roster.

Trump helicopter’s radio warnings went unheard before close call with passenger jet, report says

Marine One’s crew made repeated but unsuccessful attempts to notify Reagan National Airport that President Donald Trump’s helicopter was preparing to depart Aug. 4 before it flew near a commercial passenger jet, according to a preliminary federal report released Thursday.

The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report said the crew’s first call to Reagan National’s helicopter-control frequency before departing from the Ellipse was not received. A second transmission was "broken and completely unreadable."

After failing to reach the tower, the Marine One crew tried to relay the required three-minute notification through the helicopter facility at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, but that effort was unsuccessful as well, according to the report.

The missed warning meant Reagan National controllers did not receive notice that would have required them to stop departures before the presidential helicopter lifted off.

Instead, Envoy Air Flight 3742, an Embraer E-170 bound for Pensacola, Florida, was cleared to take off from Runway 1 as Trump departed the White House aboard Marine One for a planned trip to Los Angeles.

The passenger jet was beginning its initial climb as Marine One departed the Ellipse, about 2 miles north of the airport, the NTSB said.

The FAA’s preliminary estimate found the aircraft came within about 0.82 nautical miles of one another laterally and roughly 700 feet vertically. No one was injured, neither aircraft was damaged and both flights continued without further incident.

The Envoy flight crew said the jet’s traffic-collision system announced, "Traffic, Traffic," as the aircraft climbed and accelerated after takeoff. The pilots did not visually spot Marine One but said the helicopter appeared to the right and below their aircraft on the cockpit display.

The system did not issue a resolution advisory, a more urgent instruction telling pilots to climb or descend to avoid another aircraft, according to the NTSB report.

Marine One was eventually able to contact the tower after climbing high enough to establish reliable communications. Controllers then issued a traffic advisory, and the helicopter crew immediately reported having the Envoy jet in sight, the report said.

The newly released report also shows the communications concern had been raised just days earlier.

On July 30, Marine Helicopter Squadron One, known as HMX-1, met with Reagan National tower staff to discuss operations in the area. During that meeting, HMX-1 told controllers that communications had been "spotty," the NTSB said.

Controllers had also raised concerns that HMX-1 crews had not always provided the required three-minute warning before takeoff. The two sides agreed that helicopter crews would use backup methods to reach the tower, including relaying the notification through another aircraft, if direct radio communication failed.

That is what Marine One’s crew attempted on Aug. 4, but the message still did not get through.

FAA technicians later determined there was not adequate line-of-sight coverage between the radio transmitter-receiver site and the Ellipse, where Marine One was temporarily operating during construction at the White House.

The FAA subsequently moved the radios used for the airport’s helicopter-control frequency from a nearby residential neighborhood to the top of Reagan National’s control tower, according to the report.

The agency later conducted radio checks with two HMX-1 aircraft operating near the Ellipse and reported no deficiencies after the equipment was moved.

The FAA and NTSB began reviewing the incident earlier this month and previously characterized the event as a "momentary loss of separation."

"Based on our preliminary safety review, there was momentary loss of separation, after which the aircraft continued to move away from one another," the FAA previously told Fox News Digital.

"The air traffic controller was in contact with both the commercial pilot and Marine One pilot during the loss of separation."

While the aircraft were estimated to be less than 1.5 nautical miles apart horizontally, the NTSB said the preliminary estimate of 700 feet of vertical separation met the applicable FAA standard. In the relevant Class B airspace, the standard requires either 1.5 nautical miles of lateral separation or 500 feet of vertical separation.

The NTSB said it is continuing to review surveillance data to calculate and confirm the closest point between the two aircraft.

The White House previously said Trump was never in danger.

"Marine One flights are piloted by some of the best aviators in the world, and at no point was the president in harm’s way," White House spokesman Kush Desai told Fox News Digital.

The NTSB told Fox News Digital its preliminary report "is intended to present the factual information developed to date" and does not contain "analysis, conclusions, or findings related to probable cause."

But not everyone is anti-cup in the Toronto clubhouse.

That's sound reasoning. I've always argued that a significant portion of a man's life is spent trying to keep things from hitting him in the genitals.

CBC tells journalists not to call 9/11 ‘terrorist attacks’ in internal guidance

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday defended an internal memo directing its reporters and editors to refrain from describing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as "terrorist attacks," telling Fox News Digital the guidance reflected its longstanding practice of attributing terms it considers politically and emotionally loaded.

"It is the practice of the CBC to exercise extreme caution before using the words ‘terrorist’ and ‘terrorism,'" CBC Public Affairs Director Kerry Kelly said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "The memo was a reminder of the longstanding practice that favours the use of these terms with attribution in our reporting."

The memo was authored by Basem Boshra, CBC News' senior director of journalistic standards and public trust, and surfaced ahead of the attacks' 25th anniversary. The directive was first reported by Toronto Sun columnist Warren Kinsella, who said it was addressed to CBC News staff.

"Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks," the memo said.

The memo instead described the events as hijackings that led to passenger jet crashes in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Manhattan. It also said the World Trade Center was destroyed.

New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino condemned the guidance in a statement to Fox News Digital, accusing the broadcaster of disregarding the victims of the attacks and deliberately undermining the historical record.

"The CBC guidance is frankly outrageous and insulting, but it stands as a stark warning for what happens when you allow institutions of public trust to be taken over by leftists and foreign interests," Paladino said.

"This is not merely a callous disregard for the memory of those who perished on 9/11, it is a deliberate effort to undermine the fundamental truth of what happened that day in direct service to Islamism, as Europe, Canada, and the United States become increasingly overwhelmed by Islamist politics. We must not tolerate it any longer and dedicate ourselves to fighting this poison with every tool we have available before it’s too late," she continued.

Conservative Canadian MP Rachael Thomas, who represents Lethbridge, Alberta, called the guidance "absolutely shameful" in a statement posted on X.

"The CBC is choosing to redefine terrorism in a way that downplays the atrocity of 9/11. Refusing to call it an act of terrorism dishonors the victims, their families, the survivors, and the first responders who witnessed the horrors of that day. 9/11 was an act of terrorism. Full stop," Thomas said.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs also criticized the memo, characterizing the description of the attacks as "hijackings that led to crashes" as "sanitizing" history and a "collapse of journalistic standards."

Kelly pointed Fox News Digital to a 2023 editor’s blog in which CBC News general manager and editor-in-chief Brodie Fenlon explained that the broadcaster focused on documenting violent events while declining to independently apply terrorism labels.

"We bear witness. But CBC News does not itself designate specific groups as terrorists, or specific acts as terrorism, regardless of the region or the events, because these words are so loaded with meaning, politics and emotion that they can end up being impediments to our journalism," Fenlon said.

The FBI described 9/11 as the most lethal terrorist attacks in history. Nineteen al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airliners, killing nearly 3,000 people and triggering the largest investigation in FBI history.

Canada’s government also lists Al Qaida as a terrorist entity and states that the organization perpetrated the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.

Wild Ohio wedding brawl leaves guests injured as man allegedly threatens crowd with butter knife

A long-running feud between two families boiled over at an Ohio wedding, triggering a sprawling brawl that left guests injured, drew police from several departments and ended with three men under arrest.

FOX 8 in Cleveland reported that Ali Wahdan, 47, Raed Mahmoud Sulaiman, 46, and Abdallah Wahdan, 48, were arrested after the Aug. 21 fight at La Centre Banquet Facility in Westlake.

Sulaiman, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, was charged with assault, inducing panic and tampering with evidence after police accused him of threatening guests with a butter knife and tossing it aside as officers arrived.

Once the groups were separated, investigators began piecing together what sparked the fight. Police said alcohol was not a factor and instead pointed to longstanding bad blood between the two families.

A California pastor and massage therapist has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of molesting two children under the age of 14 over several years, prosecutors said.

David Johnson, 58, of Ojai, faces six felony child molestation charges in Ventura County, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators are also looking for possible additional victims and have publicly asked anyone with information about Johnson or other possible unreported crimes to come forward.

Johnson is accused of molesting two children who were under 14 years old at the time of the alleged abuse.

Prosecutors said the alleged abuse occurred over several years at locations in Ojai and Oxnard.

Johnson, who worked as both a pastor and massage therapist, had access to the children through a familial relationship, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors have also filed special allegations involving substantial sexual conduct and the victims being under 14 years old, according to the district attorney’s office.

Johnson appeared in Ventura County Superior Court for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to all six charges.

He remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to return to Ventura County Superior Court on Friday for a bail review hearing.

The Cowboys won the Super Bowl in 1993, 1994 and 1996, restoring the team’s previous glory after Dallas won Super Bowl VI (1972) and Super Bowl XII (1978) prior to Jones’ ownership.

But the Cowboys have not made it back to the Super Bowl since that 1996 win, and the supporters of "America’s Team" are desperate to see it happen. Each season, it feels the Cowboys have the chance to do so, but they’ve either fallen short in the playoffs, or worse, missed the postseason entirely.

However, the Cowboys remain one of the most valued teams in all of American sports since Jones purchased the club. According to Sportico, the team is valued at an estimated $15.5 billion if he were to sell it today.

Still, fans have been worried over the years whether Jones’ involvement in team affairs has cost them the opportunity to win more rings. And Jones hasn’t been afraid to retort when that notion is brought up by fans and reporters alike.

"I’m not pushing Jerry out by any means, but when that day comes, it’s gonna feel a lot different," Cowboys legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman told The Athletic.

Aikman added that he doesn’t feel Stephen has the same ego that his father has, believing that will "serve" him "well."

Jerry has even said Stephen has been a great right-hand man over the years because he’s kept him in check.

"He’s about as good as anybody I’ve ever been around in giving deference when he should," Jerry explained about his son. "Now, don’t confuse that with lack of intensity. He’ll bite back real hard when he has to. Real hard. He just does it with more grace than I do."

The day will eventually come where Jerry won’t be leading the Cowboys, but it doesn’t sound like it will be anytime soon.

Cuban national in US illegally, man accused of burglarizing luxury home after owners killed in Kenya crash

FIRST ON FOX: A Cuban national whom ICE says is in the United States illegally is among two people accused of burglarizing a luxurious South Florida townhome whose owners were killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya.

Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon-Perdomo, 24, were arrested Aug. 25, according to arrest affidavits and Miami-Dade court records reviewed by Fox News Digital. Records show Garcia is a U.S. citizen.

An ICE spokesperson told Fox News Digital that officers encountered Pavon-Perdomo at the Turner Guilford Knight Center after Coral Gables police arrested her on grand theft and burglary charges. ICE lodged a detainer with local authorities on Aug. 25, the spokesperson said.

ICE said Pavon-Perdomo entered the United States at an unknown time and place, has not adjusted her immigration status and remains in the country illegally.

The pair were accused of stealing two luxury vehicles, personal documents, jewelry and artwork — including a sculpture police valued at more than $500,000 — from the residence of Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, who were among seven people killed Aug. 19 when a safari helicopter went down in northern Kenya. The property is appraised at nearly $3 million.

The helicopter was flying from the Loisaba Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area in Samburu County when it crashed in a rugged area near Mount Ololokwe, according to The Associated Press, citing Kenya’s civil aviation authority. The cause remains under investigation.

The U.S. State Department said five of the people killed were U.S. citizens. The crash also killed Miami restaurateur Roger Duarte; José Suárez, who led Telemundo-owned stations in several Florida markets; Ecuador’s intelligence chief, Michele Sensi-Contugi; his wife, fashion designer Stephany Hollihan; and the pilot, Josh Outram.

Parra, a former Navy aviation support technician, later co-founded and managed an aviation maintenance company. Hlavaty was a real estate executive and co-founder of a development company.

"They were a loving couple who cherished their time together, especially traveling, making memories and enjoying life with their family and friends," friends said in a statement obtained by WSVN. "They were hardworking, generous and deeply committed to serving and giving back to their community."

According to an arrest affidavit, the couple left their South Florida home Aug. 12 and had arranged for their housekeeper to visit daily. Investigators determined that the home and its contents were intact after the couple died, police said.

Between the afternoon of Aug. 20 and Aug. 22, someone entered the residence, ransacked it and took personal and business documents, jewelry, electronics and artwork, the affidavit says. Police also reported the theft of a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover and a 2020 Porsche Taycan.

Investigators used Apple’s Find My service to trace a stolen MacBook to a residence in northwest Miami-Dade, according to the complaint. Location information from a spare key and the Range Rover’s app also pointed to the same area, police said.

Officers found both vehicles parked near the residence, obtained a search warrant and found Garcia hiding in a second-floor closet, the affidavit says. Pavon-Perdomo was found in another upstairs bedroom, police said.

Former Gitmo prosecutor likens 9/11 trial delay to 'Frankenstein's zombie court'

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and three alleged co-conspirators will finally stand trial in 2028, as the case against them has languished amid lengthy delays and a protracted process that one expert has likened to "Frankenstein's zombie court."

A military judge on Wednesday set the long-delayed trial for June 5, 2028, while establishing deadlines for the case. Much to the frustration of the loved ones of those who died during the attacks, Mohammed and his alleged co-conspirators have been held at a military detention center in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, for more than two decades.

The problem, according to Michael Lebowitz, a former Guantánamo military commissions prosecutor, isn't the evidence against the terror suspects — it's the system.

"The problem is that we used to call it the traveling circus because, in order to even conduct the smallest court hearing, everybody has to go to Washington, D.C., and get on an airplane," he continued. "I'm talking judges. I'm talking prosecutors, defense counsel, witnesses and court people."

The case of Mohammed, as well as Walid bin Attash, Mustafa al-Hawsawi and Ammar al-Baluchi, has been delayed for decades amid lengthy legal wrangling, including failed efforts to resolve the case through plea agreements.

The 2028 date sets a timetable for a case that has remained in pretrial proceedings for years as the military commission has addressed disputes over evidence and other legal issues before a trial on the merits can begin, Fox News Digital previously reported.

Mohammed, a Pakistani citizen, is accused of masterminding the attacks in which hijackers crashed commercial airliners into the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon. A fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to overtake the hijackers.

The case has had more than 10 judges, Lebowitz said, meaning lawyers have had to keep relitigating the same "mundane" issues. Lebowitz, an Army veteran, participated in a number of cases in Guantanamo, including the 9/11 case and the bombing of the USS Cole.

"What I found was that the way the system has kind of been set up and how it evolved and turned into, it's essentially a candy store for defense lawyers, where the judges don't have teeth to control the courtroom like you would in federal court," he said. "It just goes from there where defense lawyers can really grease up the system and grease up the gears and really grind it to a halt."

One issue prosecutors will have to iron out is whether to seek the death penalty, Lebowitz said. Even if Mohammed and the other suspected terrorists are condemned to death, it's highly unlikely to be upheld, he said.

"You're dealing with cases where, essentially, the defense lawyers would put the CIA on trial for their treatment of detainees after 9/11," he noted.

Despite some of the suspected 9/11 suspects finally getting their day in court, families of the victims also want Saudi Arabia to be held responsible.

"I think we’d ask the same question about the case against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose agents supported al-Qaeda and the terrorist hijackers, too, after they arrived in the U.S., Terry Strada, national chair of 9/11 Families United, told Fox News Digital.

In 2024, Mohammed, bin Attash and al-Hawsawi agreed to admit their roles in the terror attacks in exchange for serving life sentences and avoiding the death penalty. While some 9/11 families supported the idea, others blasted the deal.

Amid the criticism, the Biden administration withdrew the plea deal, resulting in more litigation.

A routine eviction call turned into a fiery standoff when an Oklahoma man allegedly blasted deputies with a makeshift flamethrower while a wired car-battery device sat inside his apartment, body-camera video shows.

Body-camera video released by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office captures deputies forcing their way into the dark, cluttered Oklahoma City apartment on Aug. 11 after the tenant, identified as Darron Dunn, 61, allegedly barricaded the entrance.

Deputies had arrived to serve an eviction order shortly before noon. Housing Authority staff unlocked the door, but it would not open all the way. Officers said they found cables connected to the door and an electric wheelchair positioned behind it.

The bodycam video showed a bright orange flash as the burst of fire filled the doorway.

"Back up!" an officer can be heard yelling as deputies retreated.

Authorities said the deputy felt the "extreme heat" from the flames. The sheriff’s office said the fire traveled about 15 feet in the deputy’s direction.

As deputies backed out, officers spotted a car battery with wires attached near Dunn, and another wired device near the front door. The video captured the growing alarm inside the apartment.

"He’s got it hooked up to the battery!" one officer shouted.

According to the incident report, the device consisted of rows of butane lighter-fluid and carburetor-cleaner aerosol cans taped together with bare wires attached.

Deputies evacuated residents from the third floor and nearby levels while the sheriff’s tactical team and bomb squad responded.

Officers later disabled the wires connected to the cans and safely removed Dunn from the apartment in his wheelchair, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that bomb technicians determined the wired aerosol-can device was unlikely to explode as configured. The spokesperson said it could have sparked or heated up if the bare wires touched the car-battery terminal, but technicians did not believe it would detonate.

Dunn was taken to a VA hospital because of medical issues and stress before being placed in a mental hospital, according to the incident report.

Out-of-custody charges were filed against Dunn for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; possessing, using, manufacturing or threatening to use an incendiary device or explosives; and obstructing an officer.

The sheriff’s office spokesperson said evictions can be "so emotionally charged" and deputies sadly see volatile reactions during such calls. The spokesperson said the confrontation came four years after officers were attacked in another similar eviction-related incident.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani repeatedly declined to distance himself from embattled New York City Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) co-chair Gustavo Gordillo, after being pressed on allegations that the DSA leader failed to pay thousands in rent on a Crown Heights apartment while his family spent a reported $1.4 million renovating the NYC townhouse where he lives—a contrast critics say is difficult to square with the anti-landlord, rent-abolitionist socialist housing agenda he helps champion.

Mamdani said Sunday that people working for a "more affordable life" and a "fairer life" for New Yorkers "should be welcomed into this work." When asked again Monday whether Gordillo should step down and whether he condemned allegations that Gordillo lied about his employment, the mayor said he welcomed anyone committed to making New York "a city that everyone can belong to." Meanwhile, asked directly whether he condemned Gordillo’s alleged actions and lying, Mamdani ended the exchange: "Thank you very much."

Gordillo, an Ivy League graduate who as a NYC-DSA co-chair met weekly with Mamdani and his campaign manager as the group coordinated fundraising, field and communications efforts, later served on Mamdani’s Economic Development & Workforce Development transition committee, according to public reporting.

He is named in a pending Brooklyn Housing Court case, in which a former landlord alleges Gordillo failed to pay $5,000 in rent on a $2,500-a-month Crown Heights apartment, while his family's townhouse was undergoing its $1.4 million in renovations, according to the New York Post. Gordillo's family reportedly bought the Bed-Stuy townhouse in 2019 for $935,000, while Gordillo’s father has said it is for Gordillo and his brother to live in.

Questions about Gordillo’s working-class credentials were also central to Monday’s exchange between Mamdani and reporters about Gordillo. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers told the New York Post that its Joint Apprentice Training Committee terminated Gordillo’s electrician apprenticeship in March after a "prolonged absence from and failure to participate in required work and classes."

That's what Sue Bird said on a recent episode of her podcast.

Yes, Sue Bird. The same woman who was engaged to Megan Rapinoe for more than five years before they announced their split earlier this year now claims that she wanted to "shut up and dribble" instead of diving headfirst into progressive politics in 2020.

Bird said the players "would have loved to shut up and dribble because that meant we were talking about basketball." But the "intersectionality of it all," she argued, meant they "kind of had to speak on these things."

My goodness. I'm not sure a more ridiculous piece of revisionist history has ever been uttered into a microphone.

WNBA SUDDENLY WANTS TO STICK TO BASKETBALL AFTER YEARS OF MAKING POLITICS PART OF THE PRODUCT

Bird was a WNBPA vice president in 2020. That was the season that the WNBA put Black Lives Matter on its courts, launched the Justice Movement and created a Social Justice Council.

The league and its players repeatedly spoke out on progressive political topics like voting rights, LGBTQ advocacy and gun control.

This wasn’t just a handful of players sounding off online, either. The league and union built it into the fabric of the season.

Players even went so far as to openly support a Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate by wearing shirts that said "Vote Warnock" prior to games.

Bird now wants people to believe they were forced to do all those things.

Here's the problem: Bird's new stance is openly contradicted by... Bird's old stance.

Bird’s 2020 words contradict her 2026 comments

"Our season was going to have to be played with social justice messages, on our jerseys, on the floor, forefront."

That’s what Sue Bird said in an October 2020 interview with NPR.

Quite a bit different than "we would have loved to shut up and dribble," huh?

Bird didn’t just say she wanted social justice at the forefront of the WNBA’s 2020 season. She called it nonnegotiable for the players.

And Bird said the league was on board "right from the jump."

Then the WNBA got even more explicit. Players wore "Vote Warnock" shirts in support of Democrat Raphael Warnock during his Senate race against then-Atlanta Dream co-owner Kelly Loeffler.

Loeffler had criticized the WNBA for dedicating its season to Black Lives Matter, and the players’ union had already called for her ouster. Bird had a different idea: go after her Senate seat.

Axios reported the idea to publicly support Warnock came directly from Bird. "What a great way for us to get the word out about this man, and hopefully put him in the Senate," Bird said at the time.

In 2020, Bird was openly thinking about how WNBA players could help put a Democrat in the U.S. Senate.

In 2026, though, Bird says the WNBA has become a "lightning rod" for political fights the league office cannot be expected to solve. She brought up Donald Trump and wondered whether anyone, including Democrats, had figured out how not to be manipulated by the way he operates.

How, Bird asked, was the WNBA supposed to figure that out "overnight"? She said the league office might be getting too much flak for failing to handle things that even politicians paid to handle them cannot figure out.

The through-line for all of Bird's commentary was remarkably consistent, although misguided. Her central claim was that the WNBA and its players were innocent victims and unwilling players in a political game in 2020 and they are, once again, going through the same problem.

But Bird’s guest on that episode, ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne, correctly noted that's not exactly true. Shelburne called the WNBA "a more willing participant" in political conversations because its players are willing to weigh in on hot-button issues.

She said the WNBA sits in the middle of the culture wars, but players, coaches, front offices and the league all have a choice about whether to engage.

"Right now the choice seems to have been that you are engaging," Shelburne said.

In 2020, Bird called social-justice messaging nonnegotiable. And when players fought with Kelly Loeffler, she helped turn it into a campaign for Raphael Warnock.

Bird clearly knows the difference.

Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders arrested on DUI charges, court records show

Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders was arrested on DUI charges in June while driving in Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania, according to court records.

Sanders, who last played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, pleaded guilty to driving an unregistered vehicle and illegal parking where signs prohibit it, according to online records reviewed by OutKick. He has a preliminary hearing on Sept. 23 for careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Sanders was arrested after he was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of his Lexus in the middle of William Penn Highway, according to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News. Officers tried to wake Sanders up but he was unable to answer questions.

Officers said Sanders appeared to be "in and out of consciousness" and "extremely lethargic," according to CBS News. The former running back admitted to drinking earlier in the day, while police officers said his breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were glossy.Marijuana was also found in the car, according to CBS News. Police said Sanders tested positive for alcohol after taking a portable breath test.

Sanders grew up in Pittsburgh and played college football at Penn State. He was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He spent the first four seasons of his career with Eagles before signing a four-year, $25 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. Sanders was cut two seasons in the contract while dealing with injuries and underperformance.

Sanders then signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys but played only four games due to a season-ending knee and ankle injuries. He remains a free agent and hasn’t played since.

In 88 career games, Sanders has rushed for 4,462 yards and 24 touchdowns while catching 183 passes for 1,274 yards and four touchdowns. His best season came in 2022, the lone season he made the Pro Bowl, when he ran for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The dates that shape fall benefit scams

Two major dates put Medicare and Social Security on the minds of millions of Americans each fall.

Oct. 15

Medicare Open Enrollment begins on Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7. During that period, people can review their coverage and make certain changes that generally take effect Jan. 1. That also means beneficiaries expect to receive plan information, advertisements and calls about their coverage.

Oct. 14, 2026

The Bureau of Labor Statistics currently plans to release September 2026 inflation data on Oct. 14. That release will complete the third-quarter CPI-W figures used to calculate the 2027 Social Security COLA. The Social Security Administration says the next COLA will be announced in October 2026. Based on the current schedule, the announcement is expected on Oct. 14. The Senior Citizens League currently projects a 3.8% increase for 2027. That estimate has been generating headlines, but it isn't the official number. The final percentage will depend on inflation data for July, August and September. Scammers do not have to guess when people will be thinking about benefits. These dates are public and repeat every year.

The part that happens before the phone rings

Here's what almost nobody thinks about. A scam call often comes near the end of the process, not the beginning. Before a fraudster dials, someone has to decide whom to target. Consumer lists can help make that decision. The Justice Department has already shown in court how marketing data can end up in the hands of scammers.

How Epsilon helped fraudsters find targets

Epsilon Data Management maintained a database covering roughly 100 million American households. Two former employees, Robert Reger and David Lytle, spent about a decade selling targeted consumer lists to people running fraud schemes. Epsilon used consumer data and algorithms to identify people who were likely to respond to certain offers. One fraudster bought nearly 100 lists and used them to defraud more than 218,000 victims of over $23.7 million. Epsilon paid $150 million to resolve the case. That included $22.5 million in criminal penalties and $127.5 million for victim compensation. In September 2024, a federal court sentenced Reger to 120 months in prison and Lytle to 48 months.

Other marketing companies supplied fraud operations

Epsilon was not alone. KBM Group employees sold consumer data to clients involved in fraudulent mass-mailing schemes. The company entered into an agreement requiring it to pay $33.5 million for victim compensation and an $8.5 million criminal fine. Macromark pleaded guilty to knowingly supplying lists of potential victims to fraudulent mass mailers. Many of the victims were older and vulnerable. The company agreed to pay $1 million in fines and forfeiture. These companies did not operate from hidden corners of the dark web. They were established marketing businesses with employees, clients and offices.

Targeted lists remain easy to buy

Legitimate marketing companies still sell consumer lists online. Vendors advertise databases of Americans age 65 and older, along with lists created specifically for businesses that want to contact people approaching their 65th birthday. Buyers can often filter those lists by age, location, income, homeownership and other demographic details. Some products also include names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and estimated home values. Selling a marketing list does not automatically make the vendor or buyer a scammer. However, the market shows how easily someone can identify and contact a narrow group of older Americans. That is why August and September matter. The personal data already exists, the enrollment dates are public and anyone planning a fall fraud campaign can begin researching potential targets before the calls start.

WHAT A SCAMMER SEES THE MOMENT THEY GOOGLE YOUR NAME

Where your data broker profile comes in

A purchased list gets a scammer a name, an age and an address. That alone makes for a generic call. What turns a generic call into a convincing one is everything else that's sitting on people-search sites like Spokeo, Whitepages, BeenVerified and Intelius. As I've written before, those profiles routinely include address history, relatives' names and financial signals like property ownership and estimated home value. That's the difference between "Hello, I'm calling about your Medicare benefits" and "Hi Mr. Patterson, I'm calling about the plan at your address on Maple Street. Is your wife Linda still on the same coverage?" One of those calls gets hung up on. The other one gets answered.

You can run a quick free scan of how exposed you are online to get a better understanding of your data exposure. What the numbers actually show

A data removal service research team analyzed FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center data and found that 72% of the crimes reported by Americans over 60 in 2024 were facilitated or made worse by victims' personal data being available online. That's roughly 82,000 complaints out of 113,906. Those data-facilitated crimes accounted for $4.2 billion of the $4.9 billion older Americans reported losing that year. The average victim lost about $33,200. And this problem is growing, not shrinking. Reported elder fraud victims rose 45% in a single year. What the fall adds isn't a new kind of crime. It's a schedule.

The Federal Trade Commission puts it plainly: "Every year, scammers get more active around Medicare Open Enrollment Period, trying to get your money, information or both." The agency warns that callers pose as Medicare representatives, pressure people about a "new" or "updated" Medicare card, and spoof caller ID so the call appears to come from an official number.

Meanwhile, the Social Security version writes itself. Every October, a wave of "Claim Your COLA" scams tells retirees they have to take action to receive their increase or they'll lose it. They don't. The adjustment is automatic. But by October, that call arrives sounding perfectly timed, because it is.

'I'll worry about this when the calls actually start'

That's the natural reaction. October feels like the real deadline. Why act now? Because the targeting gets locked in before the calls do. If your name, age, address, relatives and financial profile are sitting on broker sites this month, they're available to be compiled, sorted and resold well before anyone picks up a phone in October.

And removal isn't instant. Brokers have to process opt-out requests, and they re-list information on a rolling basis, which means the process works best when you start it early and let it run. Beginning in August means you're being scrubbed from the pipeline while it's still being assembled. Beginning in November means you're filing paperwork while the calls are already coming in. The point isn't to react faster. It's to be a worse target before anyone goes looking.

How to get ahead of the cycle now

These steps can help reduce the personal information scammers may use and prepare your family before fall fraud attempts begin.

1) Search for yourself first

Go to Spokeo, Whitepages, BeenVerified or a similar site and look up your own name. See exactly what a caller would see this month, before they do.

2) Do it for your parents too

If you have older relatives, their profiles are the ones worth the most to a scammer. An August check-in beats an October warning.

3) Submit opt-out requests now, not in October

Every major broker is required to honor removal requests. The catch: there are hundreds of them, each with its own process, and they re-list your information regularly. Starting now gives the process time to work before the fall surge.

4) Use an automated data removal service

Removing your information from data brokers one site at a time can take hours. A reputable automated data removal service can submit opt-out requests on your behalf and continue checking participating sites in case your information reappears.

Some services also accept custom removal requests for people-search sites and other websites that publish personal details. Before signing up, compare the number of brokers covered, how often the service checks for new listings, whether it handles custom requests and whether independent experts have reviewed its privacy and security practices.

A family plan may offer better value when you want to protect parents, children or other members of your household. No service can remove every piece of information from the internet, but ongoing removals can reduce the personal details scammers may use to create convincing calls, messages or emails.

5) Set a family password now, before the calls start

Agree on a code word with elderly parents or relatives today, while there's no pressure. It's a much easier conversation in August than in the middle of a panicked phone call in November.

6) Change your security questions

If your bank still verifies you with "mother's maiden name" or "city you were born in," that information is likely already on a broker profile. Switch to answers that aren't true and store them in a password manager.

Removing information from people-search sites cannot prevent every scam. However, reducing exposed details can make it harder for a criminal to create a convincing personal story. Social Security COLA increases are automatic. Medicare cards are mailed automatically and are free. Anyone demanding information or payment to activate either one should be treated as a potential scammer. You still have time before this year's open enrollment period begins. Obviously, it's too early for anything pumpkin right now. That's my local Dunks here in Florida. I stopped in this morning while the auto mechanic replaced my compressor, and I was stunned to see the pumpkin coffees already out. I shouldn't have been, because society has been starting "fall" in August for years now, but I was.
That being said, I do get it. I don't agree with it, but I get it. Fall is the biggest marketing season for a coffee shop. It's their Super Bowl. You can't waste a single second.
Slapping influencer Alix Earle on the big board next to the pumpkin coffees was a smart move. The wake-up wraps from Dunkin are elite. Underrated breakfast item in the industry.
For those new to class, I have a pretty strict policy on when fall starts.

Summer runs from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, through the Monday of Labor Day weekend.
Fall begins at 12 a.m. the Tuesday after Labor Day, usually around the time the final college football game of the weekend ends. For those circling your calendars right now, that would be Sept. 8.

Wild little ride there from Sophie. What a twist at the end, too! Didn't see it coming. Not sure what was going on there or who Sophie was mooning, but we're all here to have fun, right?

Lord knows I'd take that over the nonsense that happened in Chicago earlier this week.

OK, let's keep the line moving and check the mailbox before we run out of time. Yesterday, I asked everyone for their top five heartbreaking moments as a sports fan.

1. As a Devils fan, Matteau in 2OT in '94. It just cannot possibly get any worse than that in sports, although Bills fans could have an argument.

2. But as a Knicks fan, Charles Smith's missed layups against the Bulls in '93. That was our year.

3. As a Mets fan, Yadier Molina's homer in the top of the 9th, 2006 NLCS Game 7. It took me weeks to recover.

4. Back to the Knicks, Starks shooting 2-18 in the '94 Finals Game 7 against the Rockets. That was our year.

5. I'll just leave this slot reserved for Michael Jordan. It's an amalgamation of bad memories at this point. And in each of them, it was definitely our year. I still say the 90s Knicks have an argument as a legitimate dynasty, despite no ring.

- The 2006 NLCS was incredible. One of my favorite postseason baseball series ever.

4. Here’s a double-dipper San Francisco treat: Lions gagging on a 24-7 halftime lead to 49ers in 2025 NFC title game; Giants somehow blow a 38-14 third quarter lead to 49ers in the 2002 Wild Card.

5. And, most recently, the Mets trading Pete Crow Armstrong for Javy "Thumbs Down" Baez. That one might ascend higher as the years continue.

Angels in the outfield & booing a former player?

That picture of Trump watching Beltran strikeout to end the series resurfaces every few years, and it mesmerizes me every time. What a game. What a series.

Who knew we'd work in so much Mets-Cards '06 NLCS talk into today's class? It's why we win (hypothetical) awards!

OK, let's rapid-fire this Thursday class into a big night of FCS football. That's right.

FCS football:

Forget Saturday ... we get 22 (!!!) FCS football games tonight. Seems excessive, but I'll take anything after this summer.

Not sure why ESPN couldn't be bothered to put one on an actual network, but I reckon they have to sell those stupid ESPN+ subscriptions somehow.

Here's the real question, though: Do we think those 22 FCS games will have more butts in the seats than yesterday's Indians-Angels game did?

Lordy. What a scene! The official box score says they had over 25,000 fans in attendance. Do you buy that? Come on.

I don't blame Angels fans for one second, by the way. In a historically down year for the American League, they are still, somehow, the worst team in baseball. Do you understand how hard it is for an AL team to be out of the playoff race right now?

And yes, I know it was ... hot ... in Anaheim yesterday. The weather man tells me it was 92 degrees. The sun was out. A lot of the fans moved to shadier pastures in the stadium. I get it.

But still, it's such a bad look for a professional baseball team. Yikes.

On the way out, I'd like to leave everyone here with another question: Do players who left a team deserve to get booed upon their return?

Dolphins fans are planning to boo the heck out of Tua when he comes back tomorrow night as the preseason starter for the Falcons ...

And they absolutely, unequivocally should. I was a HUGE Tua guy for years. Massive. But then he signed a lucrative deal that he didn't deserve, became insufferably cocky and unlikeable, and started playing like dog-you-know-what before getting cut.

He also hamstrung the franchise with all of his dead money, although that goes on the GM as much as it does Tua.

But the broader point? Yes, former players who left on bad terms should get booed when they return. Could you imagine Philly fans having this debate?

Those sickos boo their teams three minutes into a new season! I've seen it. And I love it.

"Anytime you’re touching technology and using everything from social media to your email, all of that information, all of the data is being processed in a data center," Brittany Kaiser, CEO of Alpha Compute, told Fox News Digital.

The recent race to build more facilities is being driven in large part by AI, which Kaiser said processes "way more data" than routine activities such as email and social media. But data centers are necessary for so much more than creating a speedy reply to your ChatGPT questions.

Here are 10 ways data centers quietly power the services Americans rely on every day.

1. They make your favorite apps work

From Instagram and TikTok to Gmail and banking apps, data centers process and store the information behind the services people use every day. When you open an app, upload a photo, refresh your feed or send a message, your phone is connecting to servers that retrieve and deliver that information in seconds.

The apps may live on a screen in your hand, but much of the work happens far away inside a physical facility filled with computers running continuously.

2. They keep your streaming and gaming smooth

Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and other streaming platforms rely on massive computing infrastructure to deliver movies, videos and music to millions of users at once. Data centers help store enormous libraries of content and move it quickly enough to prevent the pauses and buffering that frustrate viewers.

Online games also rely on data centers to connect players, synchronize what is happening in a match and reduce the lag that can make a game unplayable. The more people stream, game and use data-heavy services, the more computing power those platforms need behind the scenes.

3. They power AI tools

Every time someone asks an AI chatbot a question, generates an image or uses an AI-powered search feature, data centers provide the computing power working behind the screen. Those requests require far more processing than a basic web search because the systems must analyze information and generate a response in real time.

During major shopping events such as Black Friday, those systems have to handle a surge of shoppers and transactions without crashing.
