A'ja Wilson and the Aces face Caitlin Clark's Fever in marquee WNBA regular season matchup

The WNBA season is winding down, and we will have the playoffs sooner than you know it. Most teams have around 15 games remaining, and the playoffs officially start Sept. 27. The bad news for the league (in a league full of bad news and decisions), is that by that point, most people will be paying attention to football and the upcoming MLB Playoffs and NBA season starting. Tonight is a night where all eyes should be on the WNBA, as the Aces take on the Fever.

The Las Vegas Aces were supposed to take a step back last year after trading away Kelsey Plum (who has now been traded again to the Mercury in hopes of Phoenix making a last push for the postseason after making the Finals last year). Instead, the Aces were able to win another championship, their third in four years. They have continued their success this season and currently sit tied for the second-best record in the league at 21-9. I suppose it helps that the Aces have the best player in the league, and she is having yet another MVP season.

That player is none other than A'ja Wilson, who is averaging 26.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She is one of a handful of the most unstoppable players in the league. They also have a strong supporting cast of players supporting her. The Plum trade allowed for them to unleash Jackie Young a bit more, and she is averaging 17.8 points per game this year. They also have Chelesa Gray, another solid guard. Nalyssa Smith is a reliable forward who can score and do a bit of the dirty work.

The Indiana Fever are the most covered team in the entire league for a wide variety of reasons. Most recently, the story around the league has been due to Sophie Cunningham saying transgender athletes shouldn't be allowed in the WNBA. It isn't exactly a shocking stance, but everyone wants to get worked up about everything now, so the headlines and stories have lasted for weeks. The team probably wishes it could just get back to basketball.

When they are playing good basketball, the Fever are among the best teams in the league. They currently sit at fifth in the league, good enough for a playoff spot. They are 19-11, but they are one of four teams with 19 wins. Over this final stretch, the team must get some more wins to separate themselves and potentially earn home-court advantage in the postseason. They have played some of their best basketball recently, winning seven of their past nine games.

Tonight will be one of the tougher matchups, probably for both teams. The Fever are one of the more balanced teams. I have to give the Aces credit as well. Not only do they have Wilson, but they have good players around her. I can tell you that Wilson is one of those competitors who doesn't like the attention that people give Caitlin Clark. She will get even more jazzed up for this game - most of the league does, though, as they like to show off when playing against Clark.

Playing against everyone's best effort every night is a struggle, and that's what the Fever face. Tonight, Aliyah Boston and Clark are both listed as game-time decisions, which means they are banged up even if they do play. Even if fully healthy, the Aces are the better team. Luigi Mangione seeks polished look with bid to ditch jail clothes for hearing in CEO slaying case

Luigi Mangione's defense team is making another pretrial push ahead of the accused CEO killer's next court appearance, asking a federal judge to let him ditch his jail attire and wear civilian clothing in a closely watched New York hearing.

Mangione, who is being held in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, is scheduled to appear Aug. 11 before New York Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro for a status conference.

Because he remains in federal custody, defense attorneys Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Marc Agnifilo and Jacob Kaplan asked U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett to order the Bureau of Prisons and Metropolitan Detention Center officials to accept civilian clothing for Mangione's Aug. 11 court appearance, including a suit, shirt, socks and a pair of shoes without laces.

In the proposed order attached to the filing, Mangione's attorneys also asked that the Metropolitan Detention Center permit him to wear the civilian clothing while being transported to court for the Aug. 11 hearing.

"Mr. Mangione ... does not have civilian clothes to wear for the court appearance," the filing states. "We therefore request – without objection from Judge Carro or the government – that this Court order the Bureau of Prisons and the MDC to accept" the clothing.

The filing says Carro and prosecutors do not oppose the request, a routine procedural step for defendants in federal custody appearing in another court system.

The latest filing comes as Mangione's defense team has continued an aggressive pretrial campaign surrounding the closely watched case, challenging restrictions on media access, arguing courtroom coverage limits violate constitutional rights and seeking to livestream portions of the proceedings.

Prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office have pushed back, accusing the defense of making false and misleading claims about the court's media policies in an effort to influence public opinion.

Mangione is accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel on Dec. 4, 2024, before fleeing the scene.

Authorities arrested him days later at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee recognized him and alerted police.

Republican senators debated Sen. Rand Paul's, R-Ky., plan to send a criminal contempt referral against former White House COVID advisor Anthony Fauci directly to the Department of Justice, raising questions about the legal viability of the effort and the procedural path forward.

Paul, the leader of the push, told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that he was confident the votes would be there to move forward with holding Fauci in contempt of Congress, and that his next plan is to move forward with sending the referral directly over to the Justice Department.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Miss., said his office has already begun drafting a memo to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to urge the Justice Department to pursue a criminal contempt case against Fauci.

"My team is working right now on a memo to Blanche explaining why we think that he can be prosecuted for contempt of Congress," Hawley told Fox News Digital. "He's not entitled to immunity, taken the Fifth, when he already has a pardon. It’s one or the other. "

After the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted Thursday to hold Fauci in contempt, the next step is typically for a full Senate vote to be held.

"It's got to actually go through the full Senate," Lankford said. "That's the challenge."

But Paul’s more unusual plan to skip the vote in the Senate and send the criminal referral straight to the Justice Department could be a viable route. Vice President J.D. Vance, the President of the Senate, would have to certify the resolution and refer it to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. This would likely be make it easier to prosecute Fauci as it wouldn’t require 60 votes in the Senate.

Lankford brought up the risk in utilizing this procedure as it could prompt a potential for Democrats to use it to their advantage in the future.

"The vice president would have to make a decision if he wants to try to change the structure of what has been done in the Senate, because then that would make them vulnerable three years from now to a future, maybe, Democrat Senate," Lankford said.

Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., backed Paul’s decision to send the contempt referral to the Justice Department, as she believes it is "necessary" to be resolved in a court regardless.

"I think Rand Paul feels very strongly that you can't have him coming in and pleading the Fifth in this situation," Moody said. "I think he also believes ultimately this will wind up in a court and that will be clarified by a court, and I think that's probably necessary as we move forward."

Fauci is under a presidential pardon for all actions taken between Jan. 1, 2014, and Jan. 19, 2025, from former President Joe Biden, which has prompted widespread doubt on whether he is able to invoke his Fifth Amendment right to not self-incriminate.

Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., told Fox News Digital he questions whether there is a sufficient legal basis for holding Fauci in contempt, arguing that his invocation of the Fifth Amendment complicates the case.

"The first thing you have to do is identify what it is that you would be holding him in contempt for," Rounds said. "I think he took the Fifth. And doing so, I think it makes it more difficult for anybody to actually suggest that."

He also urged his colleagues to remember the fear they all shared during that time period, over the rapidly increasing death rate and the looming uncertainty.

Eric Bieniemy’s son believed to have called cops saying 'his parents' cut off his access to weapons: report

A person believed to be Elijah Bieniemy, the son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric, called police two days before he allegedly shot his mother saying he could not access his weapons from "his parents."

According to The Athletic, a 27-year-old man called from the family's home, where the shooting took place, saying "his parents are withholding his weapons and that he’s a certified UFC fighter, so now he feels like he cannot defend himself."

The caller "kept rambling on about also having his (CPR) license and what if he cannot help," the outlet said, citing an incident report.

"[H]is parents told him he must give them his firearms if he wants to keep living in the home — and that he could have them back when he needed them," the report continued. He added his parents "refuse to give (him) his firearms back when he tries to go to the range to use them."

Two days later, Mia Bieniemy was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Leah Pau said that police arrived at a home located on the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, Virginia, on the evening of July 26 and arrested the couple's 27-year-old son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy. Mia was originally in stable condition but has since been transferred out of the ICU.

He was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, according to a press release by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Elijah was also transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Elijah won’t make a court appearance until he has completed a mental health competency evaluation, court records show. Court filings reported that he "appears to suffer from significant mental health issues" and "does not appear able to assist in his own defense at the present time."

As offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2018-22, Bieniemy oversaw one of the league's most productive offenses to become an AFC stalwart, winning two Super Bowls in his tenure.

Bieniemy, 56, returned to the Chiefs this year as their offensive coordinator after spending time with the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears and UCLA's football program.

Trump says US has 'massive' munitions stockpile, vows 'treasonous' leakers being hunted down

President Donald Trump declared Thursday that the U.S. has a "massive" munitions stockpile and "treasonous" leakers are "being hunted down" after reports emerged claiming the U.S. Army has burned through nearly all of its stockpiles of two of its primary long-range precision weapons.

The Army has used "virtually all" of its inventories of Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM) during the five-month conflict with Iran, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with internal U.S. military data.

"The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed. Defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country’s history," Trump wrote on Truth Social early Thursday.

"The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!" the president added.

Trump’s message was reposted on X by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

If accurate, the Reuters report underscores a long-standing Pentagon concern: America's most sophisticated precision weapons can be expended in months but often take years to replace.

Officials fear the drawdown could complicate the military's ability to respond to future crises involving adversaries such as China and Russia, according to the report.

Reuters also reported that the conflict significantly reduced inventories of Patriot and THAAD missile interceptors, along with Tomahawk cruise missiles, though the Pentagon has maintained the U.S. military retains the capabilities needed to carry out operations worldwide.

Exact U.S. weapons stockpile figures remain classified for national security reasons.

Some estimates show the U.S. has used more than half of its stockpiles of some weapons systems in the war with Iran. The Center for Strategic and International Studies found the U.S. has enough missiles to continue fighting in Iran under any plausible scenario, but the group says the true issue with the shrinking stockpiles is future wars.

"The depletion of munitions was a major topic and a major reason for the suspension of air attacks," Mark Cancian, a retired U.S. Marine colonel and senior advisor with the CSIS Defense and Security Department, told Fox News' Bret Baier. "Our inventories were getting way below what the war planners wanted. That might encourage China to do something."

CSIS notes many munition stockpiles are substantial but focused its analysis on seven key weapons that have been effective in Iran and would also be valuable in a possible Pacific conflict.

Trump said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital on Wednesday, "We have far more munitions than anyone in the world, and far more than we need, despite the fact that an unprecedented amount was given away by Crooked Joe Biden and the Biden Administration to Ukraine and Europe at no cost, in one of many of their extremely dumb moves."

The Pentagon has also pushed back on the reporting.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was asked if he would endorse Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) member Francesca Hong’s Wisconsin gubernatorial bid, and his response sparked immediate mockery on social media.

"I don’t think so," the Vermont socialist told "Pod Save America" host Jon Favreau when asked if he is going to endorse Hong’s campaign for governor. "I met Francesca a couple of years ago. I was in Wisconsin, and she seems very, very nice, but again this is a race I’m just not that familiar with."

Sanders added that "we have not gotten involved in many governors' races" other than recently in Maine, where he endorsed Democrat Troy Jackson, who ultimately replaced disgraced Senate candidate Graham Platner, a candidate Sanders endorsed.

Political commentators quickly chimed in on social media suggesting that Sanders not endorsing Hong shows the senator doesn’t think she can win, with many pointing to Sanders’ strident support of Platner despite all of his political baggage.

"Well, I guess even Bernie enjoys celebrating Thanksgiving at one of his three houses," an account ran by Hong’s likely general election opponent, Republican Tom Tiffany, posted on X.

Tiffany’s post references a controversial quote from Hong that went viral on social media where she suggested canceling Thanksgiving.

"Francesca Hong, who is a Socialist candidate for Governor of Wisconsin is too radical...even for Bernie Sanders," Turning Point Action Northeast Manager Brandon Maly posted on X.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Hong campaign and Sanders’ office for comment.

Critics have argued that Francesca Hong's politics are too far to the left for a swing state like Wisconsin, contending that her identification as a socialist and support for ambitious progressive policies could make her less competitive in a general election.

Hong’s social media account is littered with far-left pledges like abolishing the U.S. Senate and defunding the police.

Hong recently tried to walk back those positions in recent interviews ahead of Tuesday’s gubernatorial primary against Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, former Wisconsin Department of Administration secretary Joel Brennan, and Democratic state Sen. Kelda Roys.

Polls suggest Hong is likely to comfortably win that contest, which will advance her to a race against Tiffany, the likely Republican nominee, in November.

Miss North Carolina USA was stripped of her crown weeks before the Miss USA pageant after organizers cited an extended pattern of conduct violating the organization's standards.

Miss USA Chairman Thom Brodeur did not specify what conduct prompted the decision to take the crown away from Brittany Boltinhouse but said in a statement that the organization "does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity," adding the conduct occurred "over an extended period of time."

The decision ends Boltinhouse's reign just weeks after she won the state title and less than three weeks before she was scheduled to represent North Carolina at the 75th annual Miss USA pageant on Aug. 27.

Brodeur said the decision was made in consultation with Boltinhouse, her state directors and the Miss USA organization. He added that while the organization has a "zero tolerance" standard for conduct, accountability "is not permission to strip someone of their humanity."

"There is a young woman at the center of this," Brodeur said. "She has been named, examined, and judged in public in a way that most of us would not survive, and she is still a human being with a family, a future, and a life ahead of her that is longer than this part of her journey."

"I have never believed that accountability requires cruelty, or that holding a line means enjoying the fall of the person who crossed it," he continued.

Brodeur said Boltinhouse plans to issue her own statement to speak to the matter "in her own voice." The chairman said he has reviewed her statement and described it as showing "ownership, accountability and apology."

"I believe people can change," Brodeur said. "Change is not a statement. It is a record. It is built over time, in the open, through conduct rather than apology alone."

Hadley acknowledged the abrupt transition in a social media post, saying she understands "the seriousness and level of prestige that this title carries."

The NCAA has spent the past few years pleading with Congress to help rein in the chaos engulfing college athletics, with a large chunk of the focus centered on the wave of lawsuits challenging student-athlete eligibility.

At this point, it feels like a daily occurrence. The organization tasked with enforcing its own rules is constantly reacting to another lawsuit filed in state or federal court by an athlete seeking an additional year of eligibility.

While NCAA officials continue lobbying lawmakers to pass the 'Protect College Sports Act'—which would provide the organization with greater antitrust legal protections against these challenges—they had the opportunity to avoid the chaos centered around the most recent flurry of lawsuits themselves.

When the NCAA adopted its new age-based eligibility model, giving athletes five years to play five seasons, it made one critical decision that is being argued in courtrooms across the country on a daily basis: it excluded the 2022 recruiting class from the new rule.

From that moment on, pure chaos has reigned down upon state courtrooms, while senators try to push the 'Protect College Sports Act' through congress.

Athletes who believed they were unfairly denied an extra season of competition began filing civil lawsuits across the country, arguing they should receive the same benefits as those covered under the new eligibility structure.

Had the NCAA implemented the five-and-five rule a year earlier—or simply grandfathered in the 2022 class—college athletics might not be facing its current legal mess that has lawyers fielding more phone calls than a 9-1-1 operator on a Saturday during the football season in a college town.

One of the bigger problems in the aftermath of some injunctions granted is that there are too many athletes and not enough roster spots. As college football teams open fall camp to prepare for the 2026 season, there are not just a plethora of open spots on the roster left for those who now have eligibility, or will gain eligibility.

In college basketball, teams were anticipating the potential for madness this summer, so leaving one or two spots open for an occasion like this was a tad easier to navigate for the sport compared to football.

But even then, being in this spot of pure legal chaos was on the mind of plenty, including the NCAA.

NCAA knew this was coming, and now they're hanging on for dear life

The mind-boggling part of this entire saga is that attorneys, like Ryan Downton, essentially told the NCAA this was coming.

When former Vanderbilt linebacker Langston Patterson sued the organization in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee over the amount of years athletes are allowed to participate in college athletics, the warning shot to the NCAA was clearly given.

"We asked the NCAA to give everyone five years last year when we filed the Patterson lawsuit. They said no," Ryan Downton told OutKick-FOX News. "Now they’ve done it, but excluded the athletes asking for the change. It feels like the NCAA is saying, ‘you had a good idea, but we can’t let you enjoy the benefits of it.’ Just like they changed the name. We called it ‘five-for-five.’ They call it ‘age-based eligibility.’ It’s the same thing, but the NCAA tries to pretend it isn’t."

I've seen a few public relations' nightmares over the years that involve the NCAA, but this summer has been one for the ages. But, they cannot stop fighting these lawsuits, no matter how many are filed against them.

Why? Well that comes down to the organization actually granting a blanket-waiver themselves, and then having thousands of athletes gain an additional year of eligibility with nowhere to go. The NCAA might not want to admit it, but they are most likely in this for the long haul, though not for the reasons you might think at first.

Lost in the noise surrounding each statement from the NCAA desperately pleading for Congress to pass legislation that would provide some type of antitrust cover that keeps them out of courtrooms, is the fact that if they would have at least 'grandfathered' in the 2022 class with this new eligibility rule, they most certainly would not have their own lawyers racking up frequent-flyer miles on a consistent basis.

"The irony is that if the PCSA (Protect College Sports Act) became law today, all of my clients become immediately eligible and get to play this year.

"The NCAA is like a referee who thinks he’s bigger than the game he’s officiating - just do the right thing and get out of the way."

Lawsuits spread out across the country, as NCAA has to fight now

From courtrooms to Zoom hearings that allow attorneys to appear before multiple judges in a single day if needed, much of the current chaos feels entirely self-inflicted. And, that would most likely be the easiest way to comprehend one side of this fight.

Plaintiffs (athletes) are going at the NCAA in multiple courtrooms, in multiple states, arguing that if the new five-and-five rule was being implemented, then athletes who exhausted their clock this past season under the old rule should be granted the same rights that players under the new guidelines are utilizing.

And then came U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney of Colorado, who granted a bombshell injunction in the [Wisne v. NCAA] class action lawsuit that has now sent the college athletics world into further chaos. That was filed by former Northern Colorado men's basketball player Brock Wisne.

This meant that athletes across all sports were given a blanket waiver to compete this season, if they had a year of eligibility left to use as part of the 2022 class. These rulings are not just being used in basketball, even if the sport is garnering most of the headlines.

In some states, like Tennessee and Ohio, injunctions granted in those cases will allow players who were plaintiffs in the lawsuits to utilize the transfer portal. But, in the Colorado case, the plaintiffs are not being granted an additional portal window.

"This is one of those situations where the facts really drive a lot of the story," Associate professor at Boise State's College of Business and Economics, Sam Ehrlich told OutKick-FOX News. "The law has already been winning on a lot of these eligibility rule cases, but judges are really resonating with the idea that these players in particular are being put in a bad spot -- having to compete against guys who played five or six years and the players after them getting five.

"It feels fundamentally unfair to judges who look for even treatment, and I think that drives a lot of the legal conclusions too, especially since the legal theories are all about whether the treatment is arbitrary or unfair."

In reality, if the NCAA were to now just give in, and grant blanket waivers on their own, then they'd be admitting fault while also opening the floodgates to thousands of athletes who would be eligible, but have nowhere to play this season.

So, whether they like spending the money and resources or not, the NCAA has to continue fighting these cases in courtrooms across the country.

Ramifications against NCAA continue to grow, but roster spots are thin

On Tuesday, Indiana announced that star defensive lineman Stephen Daley, who was injured in a postgame celebration following the 2025 Big Ten championship, was returning for the 2026 season by way of the court ruling in Colorado.

"If it all works out and he can participate and help this football team, then his life could change," Curt Cignetti said about Daley returning. "I know one thing about him, he’ll give it his best shot, he really will, and we’ll just see what happens."

That line from Cignetti on how Indiana will 'see what happens' mainly centers around the NCAA appealing the Colorado court's decision.

If the organization is awarded an 'administrative stay', then the injunction would be lifted while proceedings continue and the rules would go back in place, meaning Stephen Daley would be ineligible once again.

But, who's to say the Indiana lineman wouldn’t then file a lawsuit in state court?

The other problem for NCAA officials, and lawyers, is that there is no end in sight. Whether it's athletes suing for an additional year or monetary damages they feel are owed for the organizations misdoings, this is not slowing down any time soon.

And one of the most interesting parts of this entire ordeal centers around the fact that if Congress were to pass the 'Protect College Sports Act', I don't know if there's enough antitrust protection wrapped in this legislation to keep them out of court in the future.

Don't worry though, it will all get sorted out and cooler heads will prevail.

President Donald Trump has publicly been coy about whether he might back Vice President JD Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio to succeed him in the White House, but private comments to donors suggest he might be leaning toward the man he already picked as his running mate in 2024.

"At the end of the day, we need to elect JD," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with donors roughly two weeks ago, a source with knowledge of the comments, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The news was first reported by The Washington Post.

While Vance remains the clear hypothetical frontrunner, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has narrowed the gap in national polls and surveys conducted in key early voting presidential primary states, as well as in Republican straw polls, ahead of a race that is not expected to begin in earnest until after this autumn's midterm elections.

While Post sources say the remark is not evidence Trump has made a choice between his VP or Rubio, a man he has handed many hats in his administration, it is a rare and previously unreported lean of his long-term thinking.

Trump made just one reference to Vance in his donor speech in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, hailing "the war on fraud led by our great Vice President JD Vance: He's doing a great job."

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and Vance's office for comment Thursday morning.

Rubio, who as a senator from Florida was one of more than a dozen GOP contenders who ran and lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential primary, came in a close second to Vance earlier this year in the closely watched 2028 Republican presidential nomination straw poll at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

The latest surveys and straw poll results are fuel for intrigue over what some in the Republican Party see as a budding rivalry between Rubio and Vance, who describe each other as friends.

"The president runs this administration: He is the very top of the administration; he makes orders," Vance told "The Ingraham Angle" in an exclusive sit down Wednesday night. "We, of course, have debates and conversations about what exactly we should do, but when the president of the United States makes a decision, we’re unified in this administration in carrying out that mission."

Despite Vance having won the 2024 running mate sweepstakes, Trump has also lavishly praised Rubio for his work in peacemaking efforts in Venezuela, Cuba and the Middle East, while simultaneously serving as national security advisor among his many leadership roles in the administration.

The president earlier this year declared that Rubio would go down as "the greatest secretary of state in history."

Trump has also promoted a Vance-Rubio ticket as "unstoppable" — stopping short of explicitly saying who should be at the top of the ticket.

Trump did say last year that Vance is "most likely" his heir, because "in all fairness, he's the vice president."

Trump joked at the White House Correspondents Dinner last month – rescheduled after dodging another assassination attempt earlier this spring – he would be running for president for a fourth in a troll to his critics, donning a Trump 2028

While Vance has demurred when questioned about 2028, he has built a political team of advisors who, if he runs as expected, would quickly build out a presidential campaign.

Rubio, who is crisscrossing the globe, does not have a similar group of political aides, and Rubio has said he will back Vance if the vice president launches a 2028 campaign.

Notably, Vance is the RNC's finance chair, ostensibly giving him the keys to the cash vault of more than $128 million cash on hand, according to the June Federal Elections Commission filing.

"Vice President Vance has been a fundraising powerhouse for the RNC, supercharging our war chest as we head into the midterms," RNC Chair Joe Gruters told Fox News Digital in a statement. "He’s held record-breaking events across the country and brought new and longtime donors together with his ability to connect every corner of the America First movement.

"As we prepare to protect and expand our Republican majorities, Vice President Vance will be a driving force behind the resources, energy, and momentum needed to win."

Republican sources confirmed to Fox News earlier this year that a group of GOP donors supporting the secretary of state is quietly exploring ways to boost Rubio's political profile, which has not sat well with some in the president's political orbit.

VANCE CONFRONTED ABOUT 2028 AMBITIONS AFTER TRUMP TEASES 'DREAM TEAM' RUBIO TICKET

"Vice President Vance is the future of the Republican Party, and Marco Rubio is one of his closest friends in the administration," an operative in Trump's political orbit told Fox News Digital earlier this year.

"The divisive stories from some donors trying to cause chaos are not helpful," the operative, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, emphasized.

Trump more recently questioned White House staff about the two possible contenders during a flight aboard Marine One, according to the Post. Although one adviser told the newspaper that Trump has privately settled on Vance as the Republican heir apparent, six other advisers and allies said they were not convinced that the president had made up his mind.

Those advisers noted that Trump sometimes gives different signals to different audiences and could change his position before the 2028 campaign begins. His aides also broadly expect him to delay any formal endorsement, in part to avoid diminishing his own influence during the remainder of his presidency.

The dynamic resembles Trump’s 2024 search for a running mate, when Vance and Rubio were among the finalists. Advisers told the Post that Trump enjoys maintaining suspense around major political decisions and is reluctant to hand the spotlight to a potential successor too early.

Vance admitted to Ingraham it is his "job" to take criticism, particularly if absorbs pressure from the president.

"It’s my job, Laura," Vance said. "If the worst thing that happens is I take flak for the president to make his administration more successful, I’ll be happy about that."

Vance did not talk about whether he will run.

He did say in June that he planned to discuss his political future with his wife after the midterm elections and has maintained that he remains focused on serving as vice president.

People close to Vance previously told the Post that he intended to wait until after the birth of his fourth child before seriously considering a campaign. The child was born July 19.

The 2026 midterms could shape the emerging succession contest. Republican losses could encourage additional candidates to enter the race and make it easier for them to criticize Trump’s administration or challenge his preferred successor. A strong performance, by contrast, could strengthen Trump’s ability to shape the 2028 field.

Vance has spent much of his vice presidency building relationships with Republican donors and activists. He is closely associated with the younger, populist wing of the MAGA coalition and has taken on political and policy assignments that have helped raise his profile.

Dem senator presses OpenAI, Anthropic for answers in AI hacking probe

Revelations of OpenAI and Anthropic artificial intelligence agents hacking third parties has drawn the "serious concern" of Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., who is now seeking answers from the two businesses incorporated as public benefit companies (PBC) in her state.

In separate letters dated Thursday to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, viewed by Fox News Digital, Blunt Rochester has requested detailed timelines, model instructions, internal approvals, security logs and complete transcripts from the companies’ cyber evaluations.

The member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee gave both companies until Sept. 6 to respond.

AI KILL SWITCH BILL COULD SHUT DOWN ROGUE MODELS

"These incidents mark the first publicly confirmed instances of a frontier AI model autonomously launching unauthorized attacks on real people and companies, underscoring the urgent need for federal oversight of frontier AI systems," Blunt Rochester wrote to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, calling for federal testing standards, containment rules and disclosure requirements for evaluations of powerful AI systems.

Her concern follows another letter Monday, as first reported by Fox News Digital, from a coalition of 15 red-state attorneys general warning Altman to preserve documents and halt certain high-risk cybersecurity tests after an experimental artificial intelligence agent allegedly escaped a controlled environment and carried out a multi-day hack into outside computer systems.

One day later, the United Kingdom’s AI Security Institute (AISI) identified 19 cases in which AI agents took actions outside the authorized scope of testing. Two involved OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol, while 17 involved Anthropic’s Mythos 5.

"Anthropic models’ repeated attacks on third parties with no knowledge of, or role in, Anthropic and AISI’s evaluations demonstrate an alarming pattern of malicious behavior," Blunt Rochester's letter to Amodei read. "Furthermore, the successful attempts by these models to gain unauthorized internet access across multiple sandbox testing environments meant to be cut off from the public internet highlight serious issues with Anthropic’s testing partnerships and procedures.

"To be clear, 'misunderstanding[s]' and 'misconfiguration[s]' with sandbox partners are unacceptable when the stakes are this high.

"We cannot wait for a more consequential incident before establishing federal testing standards, containment requirements, and disclosure obligations for frontier model evaluations.

"Left unaddressed, these gaps could allow a future model, potentially one with greater capability or less oversight, to compromise critical infrastructure, financial systems, or sensitive data."

These investigations carry a distinct Delaware dimension: OpenAI and Anthropic are organized as Delaware PBCs — legal structures that allow them to operate for profit but require their directors to weigh more than shareholder returns.

Under Delaware law, a PBC board must balance three things: its stockholders' financial interests, the interests of people materially affected by the company's conduct and the specific public benefit written into the company's charter.

"This incident marks an important moment for AI safety and we take the questions raised by the Attorneys General seriously," OpenAI wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital after Monday's letter from the state AGs.

"We are conducting a thorough review along with external advisors and with oversight from the Safety and Security Committee of the Board of Directors. Once the review is complete, we will share a technical report with the Attorneys General and other relevant government authorities and publish our findings publicly."

Blunt Rochester wants records related to the AI agent hacking now, too.

"I appreciate that OpenAI has published preliminary findings, is coordinating with third parties on remediation, and is reviewing its approach to model testing," she wrote to Altman, adding to Amodei, "I appreciate Anthropic’s voluntary review of its cybersecurity evaluations and public disclosure of the findings, and I encourage other companies to follow suit.

"However, these incidents demonstrate the potential risks of deploying pre-release models internally, particularly when safeguards are reduced, even when strictly for testing and evaluation," she wrote to both CEOs.

OpenAI disclosed in July that GPT-5.6 Sol and an internal prototype escaped an internal sandbox while their normal cybersecurity restrictions were disabled. The models allegedly accessed Hugging Face's database and other services, launched roughly 17,000 attacks, used stolen credentials and exploited at least one previously unknown vulnerability.

A separate test conducted by contractor Irregular allegedly allowed an OpenAI model onto the public internet because of a configuration error. The model mistook a real website for a target in a simulated hacking challenge and exploited a live security vulnerability.

"AISI identified 19 instances in which an agent took unsanctioned action beyond the scope of the evaluation. Seventeen of the 19 instances involved Anthropic’s Mythos 5; two involved OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol," Blunt Rochester wrote.

The institute’s most serious findings included an agent attempting to place malicious code into a widely used open-source project on GitHub, creating fake identities to pressure a human maintainer, contacting real people and leaving public instructions that other AI systems could use to continue the operation. The maintainer rejected the code, and investigators reported finding no resulting real-world harm.

PAIDWORK BREACH EXPOSES 23M USER RECORDS

Blunt Rochester’s Anthropic letter separately cites three incidents in which Claude models allegedly gained unauthorized internet access and attacked three undisclosed organizations during cyber evaluations conducted with standard safeguards disabled.

Two of the Anthropic models reportedly recognized that they had reached the open internet and were interacting with real targets but continued their attacks.

"It is particularly concerning that Anthropic’s first identified security breach dates back to April 2026 and was not identified until three months later," Blunt Rochester wrote to Amodei.

"This is precisely the kind of emergent, autonomous behavior and offensive cyber capability that Congress, the intelligence community, and experts have repeatedly warned could outpace existing safeguards and could pose a severe threat to the safety and security of all Americans," she added in both letters.

The requested records go beyond basic incident reports. Blunt Rochester is seeking the prompts and full instructions given to the models, time-stamped accounts of how the breaches unfolded, the identities or positions of officials authorized to reduce safety controls and an explanation of why automated monitoring did not immediately detect and stop the activity.

She also asked whether federal agencies were notified, whether the companies are confident they discovered the full extent of the unauthorized access and whether previous incidents went unreported.

Blunt Rochester has a federal oversight basis for pursuing the information. She represents the state whose corporate law governs both companies and is the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Science, Manufacturing and Competitiveness Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over oversight of science and technology research, development and policy.

Her position does not make her Delaware’s corporate regulator — that role falls principally to state officials and courts — and the companies’ PBC status does not automatically give a U.S. senator access to their internal files.

Blunt Rochester could, however, use the companies’ responses — or a refusal to respond — to press for hearings, legislation or committee-level compulsory action.

A wealthy suburban sanctuary on the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts, is on the lookout for a masked prowler who was captured on camera outside a home.

The Weston Police Department said that surveillance cameras at a private property caught a masked individual wearing a bicycle helmet walking around the property around 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, and now police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of the "suspicious incident."

Police said there is no indication the suspect entered the home, but the individual was completely masked and on private property during overnight hours.

"Based on the circumstances, we believe the person’s intentions were likely not lawful," police said.

Manny Rutinel, Democratic candidate for Congress in Colorado's 8th Congressional District, once co-authored a paper that argued that livestock — not fossil fuels — should be more of a focus to combat global warming.

"Simply put, achieving the Paris Agreement goals will be nearly impossible without ambitious policies that reform our food system," Rutinel wrote in a 2022 paper with the Environmental Law Institute.

"Despite the growing awareness of animal agriculture’s climate impact, climate policy and action have historically focused on electricity and fuel use."

Colorado’s 8th district is Colorado’s leading producer of beef cattle and dairy, accounting for 26% of the state’s output, according to Upstate Colorado Economic Development. Of its 2.5 million acres, 75% are devoted to farming and raising livestock.

In recent months, Rutinel has worked to convince voters that he recognizes the industry's importance.

"Like all industry, there are bad apples, and I’ve spoken out against those bad apples that cause extreme and unnecessary animal cruelty in parts of the food industry and against the environmental cost of unsustainable food practices," he said.

"They’re good stewards of the land, they care for their animals, and they are the backbone of our economy and our communities. Colorado ranchers are my friends and neighbors, and I’ve gotten to know them," he added.

But through advocacy in college, testimony made before local government and a climate group he started, Rutinel has pressed the case that many climate advocates have articulated in the past: that livestock contribute to global emissions as a byproduct through their digestive systems.

The resurfaced paper brings a government-led approach to many of his vocalized positions.

In it, Rutinel argued that ranchers and animal farmers should be incentivized through government initiatives to transition to plant-based farming with either a carrot or a stick.

"Governments can require that agribusiness internalize the environmental, public health, and animal welfare costs of animal farms through regulations, mandates or taxes," Rutinel wrote, suggesting penalties for companies to make up for their production.

"But one food system policy idea has not received sufficient attention: the direct funding of farm transitions from concentrated animal feeding operations to plant-based operations," he added.

Rutinel also argued state and local governments could finance offsetting projects that would reduce emissions.

"For example, a manufacturing facility in California can decrease its net emissions by purchasing offset credits that finance a reforestation project in Brazil. Offset credits can be purchased voluntarily or to exceed emission allowances within a compliance market."

To some onlookers who have cast doubt on Rutinel's positions in the past, the statements appear to confirm that his position is further left on energy than many Democrats pushing aggressive climate initiatives through legislation like the Green New Deal.

"You have to be legitimately insane to look at the Green New Deal and think it doesn't go far enough. Meatless Manny's vision to ban ranching would not only lead to catastrophic job losses in Colorado but also cause a beef shortage across America," Zach Kraft, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Rutinel’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether he continues to believe that climate reform must, on some level, mean change for farming industries.

Having cleared the Democratic primary, Rutinel will face off against Rep. Gabe Evans in the state’s Nov. 3, 2026, general election.

Dannon's coffee-flavored yogurt earned a cult-like following over the decades. Now that it's disappeared from store shelves, longtime devotees have launched a petition to bring it back, flooded social media with disappointment and searched for substitutes.

"In an unexpected move, Dannon recently discontinued their much-loved coffee yogurt flavor as of April 1," reads a Change.org petition urging Dannon to bring back coffee yogurt.

"This has left countless fans of this unique and delicious product in dismay. Coffee yogurt provided a delightful blend of rich coffee flavor and creamy yogurt, a perfect option for those seeking a pick-me-up in a healthy and satisfying snack."

DISCONTINUED CRACKER BARREL FOODS THAT FANS ARE BEGGING TO GET BACK

A 5.3-ounce cup of Dannon's coffee yogurt, known by enthusiasts as simply "DCY," "contained about 32 milligrams of caffeine, or about a third of an 8-ounce cup of coffee," along with 11 grams of added sugar, The Wall Street Journal reported.

New Jersey lawyer Doron Zeif ate DCY for 40 years and told the publication, "It's what I got out of bed for."

Lisa Signorelli, a retiree from New York, told the Journal she frequently bought cases of DCY to feed her "50-year obsession."

"Discontinuing this flavor has removed a valuable and cherished option for yogurt lovers everywhere, particularly for those who appreciate the distinct taste of coffee," the petition further states.

Social media users echoed the petition's sentiment.

"I'm going through serious withdrawal symptoms now that Dannon has discontinued their coffee yogurt, which I have been happily eating for years and years," one person wrote on a Reddit forum asking if it's possible to make something "akin to Dannon coffee yogurt."

"I'm honestly quite bummed about it," the user added. "I know there are other companies out there that make coffee yogurt, but it's the texture that was a big part of it."

"I'm seriously going through withdrawal!" another Reddit user commented. "Other coffee yogurts are not the same. And making our own version, while healthier, would also not taste the same. I have been having this particular Dannon for literally decades, every day!"

Several people offered advice for replicating the fan-favorite yogurt by adding instant or liquid coffee to other Dannon yogurts. One commenter encouraged fans of Dannon's coffee yogurt to call the company, noting, "A human being actually picks up the phone!"

The Dannon Coffee Yogurt Fanatics Facebook page includes many people exchanging methods for trying to match the DCY flavor.

"I was a serial DCY user for some 40 years, and I was convinced I'd never get over Dannon's decision this year," wrote a woman who identified herself as a "recovering fanatic." "I tried DIY DCY, but none made the cut. My son-in-law convinced me to try Icelandic Provisions Cold Brew Coffee Skyr, and within days I was hooked. DCY would seem too sweet and thin by comparison."

The door doesn't seem to be completely shut forever to Dannon's coffee yogurt, however.

"Dannon coffee yogurt will come back in ways that reflect the taste preferences, flavor profile and nutritional benefits many consumers seek in the yogurt aisle today," Rafael Acevedo, president of Dannon's yogurt division, told the Journal.

A post on Dannon's Instagram shows a photo of DCY and says, "Miss it? We'd love to hear from you." Dannon captioned the post, "The passion for Dannon coffee yogurt has been incredible to see. DM us and we will keep you posted for future updates."

"My grandmother, who passed away in 2011, had one every day," one user replied. "It was a treat when she'd share it with me as a kid, and now it serves as a special memory. It's also the best flavor! Please bring it back!"

"I miss it so much!" wrote another. "Please bring it back; I am tired of mixing coffee and vanilla yours from other brands. It never tastes as good as the classic Dannon coffee."

Why are parents 'required' to send two boxes of tissues to school per child?

I have to get this off my chest. Mrs. Screencaps has bombarded me this week with news of all the things he has to send to school in order for our kids to be allowed into the building next week when school starts even though we're current with our property taxes.

The one thing on the list that caught me off-guard was the two boxes of tissues requirement. Why can't the school just budget for two boxes of tissues per kid? Let's say there are 500 kids in Screencaps Jr.'s class. So we're talking about 1000 boxes of tissues.

Google Gemini says that would run about $1,800 with FREE delivery for an order of that size.

Instead of budgeting for $1,800 in tissues, the school insists on agitating parents all summer over crap like this. It drives me absolutely insane. I'm not blaming the teachers. I know many of you have stories to share of this world you're working in.

Between the number of emails we get from the schools that cause tons of stress for Mrs. Screencaps, to the newsletters we're supposed to read so we're not bad parents, to the list of items we're supposed to provide, the school systems have burned us out. I get it, the minute they don't communicate is the minute some parent screams that the school isn't being transparent.

Can we all agree to start with small steps and have the school pony up the $1,800 (per class) out of its budget for the tissues? Is that too hard? I'd even consider throwing a community golf outing to raise money for the tissues.

This is the ESPN mindset. There's no nuance to this take when there should be

I know many of you like Ryan McGee because he's a NASCAR guy with a thick southern accent and is buddies with fake accent guy Marty Smith (don't even bother arguing; Marty plays up the accent and the golly shucks thing like Herbstreit playing up how much he loves his dogs; ESPN sideshows are ridiculous).

Fetterman answers whether he'll cross the aisle to confirm Trump AG nominee Todd Blanche

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., said Wednesday he would not vote for acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to officially take over the role leading the Department of Justice.

During a Wednesday appearance on comedian Jon Stewart's podcast, Fetterman was pressed on Democrats' failure to use the Senate filibuster to block President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees. The senator responded by claiming he would not vote for Blanche, who is Trump's choice for attorney general.

"Many of them I didn't vote for," Fetterman said, referring to Trump's Cabinet nominees.

JOHN FETTERMAN MAKES IT 'VERY CLEAR' THAT HE'S 'NOT GOING TO BE A REPUBLICAN' DESPITE DEM BACKLASH

"And if you're going to bring up Blanche, I'm not going to vote for him as well. There are some that I would vote for, and then there are many that I haven't because I just don't believe that's the right person for the job overall. I really try to call balls and strikes," he told Stewart.

Fetterman has been one of the Democratic senators most supportive of Trump's Cabinet nominees, voting "yea" to confirm half of his nominees, according to a Fox News Digital review.

He was the only Democrat to support Trump's previous choice for attorney general, Pam Bondi. He also helped push Markwayne Mullin, the newest Homeland Security secretary, over the line, casting the decisive vote to advance Mullin out of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, 8-7. Fetterman was again the only Democrat to vote for Mullin's confirmation, joining the 53 Senate Republicans to confirm Mullin in a 54-37 vote.

Despite Fetterman supporting Trump's previous pick to head the Department of Justice, it appears the president will not be able to count on his vote this time around.

Bondi won her nomination from the Senate in a 54-46 vote. Todd Blanche will likely have at least two fewer votes than that tally, as Fetterman joins Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in publicly expressing opposition to Blanche.

"Mr. Blanche has taken several actions that have further eroded the department’s independence, and that is the basis for my vote to oppose his confirmation," Collins said Tuesday.

Collins notably voted to confirm Blanche as the assistant attorney general in March.

Two other potential GOP holdouts – Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, – are still undecided, according to The Hill.

A pair of Republicans who had previously opposed Blanche's nomination – Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Thom Tillis, R-N.C. – flipped to "yeas" after Blanche agreed to stop pursuing a planned anti-weaponization fund.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Blanche's nomination to the full Senate on a strict party line vote, 12-10.

Women's advocacy leader asks 'why have a WNBA if we're going to allow guys in' amid trans debate

Sophie Cunningham is grabbing the attention of women's advocacy groups.

Patti Garibay founded American Heritage Girls in 1993 as a way to keep faith in the Girl Scout mission, but as she feels biological girls' and women's safe spaces have been taken over by biological men, she now has a new goal in mind.

"There's so much confusion around it. What were traditionally safe spaces and places for women are no longer safe spaces and places," Garibay said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. "And now parents, even when they're calling our office asking about potentially bringing their daughter into American Heritage Girls, the question is about policies, membership policies, and are you biologically female, or do you allow others in, because all of the other organizations, youth organizations are now allowing boys that say that they feel like they're girls into these intimate spaces and places, such as the cabin at the camp or the locker room at the sports team.

"These are of grave concerns to parents because they want those safe places for their daughters to be able to really thrive, not worry about competition of biological male against them."

The issue has now gone well into the sports conversation, and Garibay is wondering, "Why have a WNBA if we're going to allow guys in?"

That's why Garibay felt a sigh of relief when Cunningham showed her support for keeping trans athletes out of biological girls' sports.

"I think Sophie has had great courage and that is what we teach American Heritage Girls to have, to have courage to stand up for what's right and not worry so much about the potential loss that's involved because when you do the right thing, you are rewarded in different ways," Garibay said, while admitting she was "disappointed" that Caitlin Clark did not directly address it when recently asked.

"I felt like that was a little bit of a concern. Probably her handlers suggested that she avoid that at all costs. Sophie, on the other hand, has decided to get into the miry waters of this and to stand for what I believe is truth."

Garibay, though, is adamant that there are "lots of opportunities" for trans youth to be included.

"There's so many other opportunities for them to be able to find those places. And I do think perhaps they, just like I had to start American Heritage Girls, perhaps there's something that they can start too that they would feel very good about being amongst themselves and have that support that they so need to address the mental health issues that come along with all of it. It's very positive to have friends and to have allies around you," Garibay said.

The WNBA has been under critical fire since the first day Caitlin Clark joined the league.

While being in the midst of culture war battles, Clark has also been the victim of some hard fouls due to what's commonly been perceived as massive jealousy from her peers.

As the WNBA has dealt with its own apparent battle amid its players on different sides of the transgender athlete debate, the league drummed up even more controversy after deleting a post about a wager between Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers.

The two stars recorded a video in which they wagered $400 on a recent game between their respective teams — betting of any kind is strictly prohibited under the WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement, with Section 5 of Article 14 in the agreement dedicated to gambling regulations. A WNBA spokesperson released a statement on Thursday claiming that the quickly deleted video was "intended to be lighthearted," but that it "simply missed the mark."

NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, though, saw practically nothing wrong with what Reese and Bueckers did.

The former big man also admitted that there is "professional jealousy" when it comes to Clark, but "it’s what we call the rites of passage."

"There's girls that are going, 'You don't talk about me like that, you talk about her.' You gotta take advantage of that opportunity. You have to go at who they think the best is. If you got other people coming at her, then it is what it is. Once she gets through this next year and keeps playing the way she's playing, they’ll have no choice but to love and accept it," O'Neal said. "But this is what we call rites of passage. We don’t just let youngsters come in and take over because they’re getting all the props from the media.

"Caitlin's a tough cookie. She'll be able to get over it. Angel's throwing 'bows, talking smack, letting everyone know, 'I'm not scared.' Caitlin's probably gotta do a little more of that."

Fauci held in contempt as COVID cellphone lands in hands of Senate investigators

Senate Republicans moved to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress in their pursuit of forcing the former architect of the nation’s COVID-19 response to go on record about his actions leading up to and during the pandemic.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted on sharp party lines to charge Fauci, the former chief medical advisor to the president, with contempt after he refused to answer questions from both sides of the aisle over fear of self-incrimination.

The move follows Fauci’s decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights more than 100 times during his hearing last week, which prompted the panel’s chair, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to vow that he would face "repercussions" for not testifying, or at least how Paul envisioned.

FAUCI'S HHS IPHONE TURNED OVER TO SENATE INVESTIGATORS AS CONTEMPT VOTE LOOMS

Typically, once a contempt resolution passes by committee, it heads to the Senate floor for a full vote. However, Paul’s resolution allows that step to be skipped altogether and allows him to send the referral directly to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

But Paul wants the Department of Justice (DOJ) involved as soon as possible. There’s also the question whether Fauci’s pardon from former President Joe Biden protected him during the hearing, which Paul hopes to find answers to.

"It’s a good legal discussion, and we will make those legal points to DOJ in sending the referral over," Paul told Fox News Digital ahead of the hearing.

It’s another chapter in the feud between Paul and Fauci that has extended over the last several years since the onset of the pandemic.

Paul has accused the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director of funding "risky" research that led to an alleged lab leak of the COVID-19 virus in China and has demanded that he end up behind bars.

And in the background, a copy of Fauci’s pandemic-era cellphone is now in the possession of Senate Republican investigators.

Fox News Digital confirmed that the Robert F. Kennedy Jr.-led Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent over a copy of the phone to the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations chaired by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.

Meanwhile, across the marble expanse of the Capitol, Republican investigators in the House are cooking up their own probe into Fauci.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., previously signaled that he was not done with Fauci, either.

After the longtime public health official pleaded the Fifth Amendment during his Senate hearing, Comer questioned the validity of his preemptive pardon granted by President Joe Biden. He also said his committee would be questioning Fauci further, though he did not elaborate.

"If former President Biden’s blanket autopen pardon is valid, then Dr. Fauci has no right to refuse to answer questions," Comer said, noting his committee had done extensive work probing the autopen pardons. "Based on the release of Dr. Fauci’s diary, which should have been provided to the House Oversight Committee last Congress...we’ll be asking Dr. Fauci whether he stands by his previous testimony to our Committee."

Of course not, Sophie! The basketball ain't what makes the WNBA compelling. Sure, some of the games are good, but most of them are terrible. The officiating is terrible. The matchups are terrible.

THAT's the stuff that gets eyeballs. Fair or not, it's a fact. It's the truth.

Plum, by the way, had a monster game last night. She finished with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists. Good for her.

Mom of slain Citadel cadet says son was 'such a light' as expert flags cellphones as potential motive break

The mother of a Citadel cadet killed alongside his best friend remembered her son as "such a light," while a former detective said the two victims' cellphones may hold the answer to why they were slain.

The DeLand Police Department in Florida said Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, were found dead at around 10:40 p.m. on July 29.

Officials announced on Tuesday that an arrest warrant was obtained for a 17-year-old male, who was arrested on Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service.

During a Wednesday news conference, authorities said the three people "knew each other in some capacity," and said the teenager who was arrested has a "pretty good criminal history."

Rose attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina and was home on break at the time. In a message to the campus community shared with Fox News Digital, The Citadel President Gen. Frank McKenzie described Rose as a "team leader and was a valued friend and classmate."

In addition, Rose was also a member of the South Carolina National Guard, a spokeswoman confirmed with Fox News Digital.

Rachel Rose, Dustin's mother, said he was "such a light in our family."

"When they took him they took the very best part of me. We are devastated," she told Fox News Digital.

Patrick McGeehan, a criminal defense attorney and former homicide detective, told Fox News Digital that since their phones weren't stolen, investigators could use them as they try to piece together a potential motive.

"And they still have the phone, the one kid still had the phone, which leads me to believe that's not a robbery. It may be something else, because who's going to leave a thousand dollar smart phone if they're doing robbery? That's something else that jumped out at me," McGeehan said. "They will go through their phones. They will do a forensic audit of their phones, that is something that agencies in the area are capable of doing."

"The information they can gather from the phone is fairly extensive," he added.

Police released a screenshot of surveillance video showing the two walking together on Tuesday evening. It's not yet known if the two were targeted.

Rose's aunt, Jaimie Scarola, told FOX 35 his life was taken too soon.

Democratic Socialists of America need to actually meet the China they claim to love

To be sure, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) seems to be growing as it further intrigues those either too desperate, too ignorant, or too hate-filled to ascertain the danger it represents to them, their families and their country. Ignorance by far, is leading the pack.

Thanks to a piece in The Times of London – and further reported on by multiple sites – that ignorance now shines like the sun on steroids. A recent headline in The Times declared: "DSA members pledge support for Chinese Communist Party after VIP trip." The sub-headline read: "The CCP has organised trips for members of the Democratic Socialists of America, which helped Zohran Mamdani’s election campaign."

Why would the DSA sing the praises of China and offer it up as a model? As reported, within their greater pledge, they answer the question themselves. Say these DSA members in part: "Why China? We support all states building or aspiring to socialism, and we favor the highest level of unity and friendship between them. We foreground China in particular because its size and level of development give it an objectively critical role in the global transition to socialism."

DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA ACTIVISTS SIGNED PLEDGE TO SUPPORT, DEFEND 'CHINESE SOCIALISM'

To be sure, China does play a "critical role in the global transition to socialism." But one that is diametrically opposed to the fantasy being pushed by the DSA.

Recently, a DSA member confirmed that the organization does want to literally defund or abolish the police; the military; ICE; sovereign and protected borders; the presidency, Senate, Supreme Court, prisons and corporate ownership. OK.

Newsflash to the DSA: China is the worldwide leader in absolute control and obedience via its powerful – and growing – military, its various police forces, its spy agencies and its military-controlled courts. And do you know what they are also exceptional at? Building prisons and filling them with "enemies of the state."

As the DSA promotes itself as a vessel for the disenfranchised and those injured and exploited by the powerful, I would ask if its "leadership" is for or against "genocide." And if against it, has it ever heard of "the Uyghurs?"

No? Well, they are tragically very easy to learn about. They either reside in Chinese prisons, labor camps or mass graves. Collectively, millions of men, women and children have been persecuted, tortured or killed.

As for sovereign and protected borders, China excels at them. Anyone daring to cross those borders illegally is dealt with by the harshest means possible.

The DSA loves China but hates the presidency, the Senate and the Supreme Court. On that count, President Xi Jinping no doubt agrees when it comes to destabilizing the United States, but gleefully goes them one better. He simplified the process by folding all the power of China into just one body. His own.

Same thing with the "corporate ownership" the DSA hopes to abolish in the U.S. Xi and his handpicked circle of, not shockingly, multi-billionaire bootlickers exert full and brutal control of China’s "corporate" outlets. Every single one of them.

DSA CO-CHAIR PUSHES BACK ON SOVIET UNION COMPARISONS, WANTS PRISONS TO BE 'LESS NECESSARY'

Many of the idiotic and ignorant pronouncements of the DSA when it comes to its allegiance with China were ironically explained – and exposed – by one of the most infamous communists in world history: Vladimir Lenin.

Lenin globally cultivated what economist Ludwig von Mises described as "useful idiots." Lenin knew communism – minus its genocidal enforcement – was doomed to failure and sought to build an echo chamber of the compromised to push it beyond Russia’s borders. He found and created thousands of such disciples in those who proclaimed themselves part of the liberal "intelligentsia."

Understanding that Machiavellian strategy, one could easily surmise that, were Lenin around today, he would smirk in satisfaction upon reading this quote from an American DSA leader after being hosted by the Communist Chinese Government: "The provincial foreign affairs department staff called us ‘VIPs’ and treated us royally… There is a serene and comfortable spirit of confidence and conviviality among our Chinese hosts."

Wow. Game, set and match for China.

Why? As reported in the Times piece: "While these seem like quirky activist trips to get people to like China, they’re treated as extraordinarily important vehicles to change the Western perception of China by the Chinese Communist Party," said Alexander Reid Ross, a professor at Portland State University. "They exhibit fingerprints of extraordinarily high-level coordination by the People’s Republic of China."

They do indeed. But the success of China in indoctrinating the DSA should ultimately give the Chinese leadership great pause. Bill Maher recently showed why this is so.

The exceptionally aware and commonsense-espousing host of "Real Time" on HBO called out much of the destructive ignorance of the DSA when he savaged that organization during his July 31 broadcast, simply by listing quote after quote. Maher showed New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani word for word echoing the Karl Marx mantra: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

He showed radical left podcaster Hasan Piker glorifying the murderous regimes of the Soviet Union and Mao Zedong. Maher also highlighted the spine-chilling calls to "seizing all properties from landlords," to "impoverish the White middle class," to "the government’s sacred right to seize private property," and an open call to "elect more communists."

Maher’s audience is generally left-of-center. But even it repeatedly laughed out loud as the host made fun of the seemingly functionally illiterate DSA. I suspect that if the appropriate people in China have not watched Maher’s segment on the DSA, they soon will.

Unlike the DSA – which also pushes "woke" and "identity politics" over merit – China only believes in elevating the most intelligent, the most experienced and the fittest when it comes to its military, its police forces and the spy agencies it controls. As such, China may quickly decide that DSA members would need a promotion to become "useful idiots" and are not worth the time, energy and money to recruit. We live in hope.

Sophie Cunningham addresses the fallout over her stance on trans athletes not belonging in women's sports

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham does not believe that female athletes should have to share a locker room or compete against biological males.

For simply protecting women's sports and young girls, the eight-year WNBA veteran has received tremendous pushback from many in the media and recently addressed the fallout that feels like it may never fully end.

Cunningham joined USA Network's WNBA broadcast on Wednesday evening, certainly knowing she would be asked about her opposition to transgender athletes competing in women's sports and the pushback that has come along with that.

SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM DOUBLES DOWN AHEAD OF SUN GAME AFTER ESPN PROFILE STIRS CONTROVERSY: 'I SAID WHAT I SAID'

Elle Duncan, formerly of ESPN, didn't want to revisit "the actual issue that brought us to this point" during her conversation with Cunningham, but instead asked her specifically about the WNBA's suspension of Seattle Storm minority owner Celeste Keaton.

Keaton allegedly called a pair of teenage Sophie Cunningham fans "f---ing insane" during Indiana's win in Seattle on July 28. Duncan asked Cunningham to share her thoughts over the owner-fan interaction, which is when she addressed the overall fallout over her opinion that women's sports should be exclusive to biological women.

"I think I have a very clear and strong perspective on this," referring to the topic of trans athletes in women's sports. "I know that people are not always going to align and agree, I totally understand that, but I think the most important thing is having that respect, having that love, and pursuing peace in these conversations, in these debates, because I think that it's healthy.

"With that being said, I just hate how The W, the basketball of it all, is just getting overshadowed...It just makes me sad that all this sort of drama, on things that truly don't matter, that the basektball is getting overshadowed. My biggest thing is that love and respect, there is room for absolutely everybody, and we don't always have to agree, but that respect and love definitely has to be there."

Cunningham's comments on USA Network were similar to those she shared earlier on Wednesday, claiming that all the WNBA media does is "cover everything except basketball."

While Cunningham has long been among the most popular players in the WNBA, her rise to the center of the women's basketball universe came after ESPN published a story on July 21 in which she addressed trans athletes in women's sports.

"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" Cunningham told the outlet. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."

"I'm very much in the middle. I agree with things on both sides, disagree with things on both sides," Cunningham continued." And that's all I've ever said about my political beliefs. But people love to assume."

One-wheeled AI security robot could patrol your property

What if the next security guard rolling past your office had one wheel and never needed a coffee break? That is the pitch behind 1Rollo, a one-wheeled AI security robot from Estonian startup Rollo Robotics. The company believes its narrow design could patrol large properties at a lower operating cost than traditional security vehicles.

The machine follows mapped routes while watching the area around it. When its artificial intelligence detects unusual activity, 1Rollo can alert a human operator. That person can review the situation and decide whether to send a security guard.

For now, 1Rollo remains a functional prototype. Rollo Robotics says it plans to make the robot commercially available in 2027. Therefore, its design and specifications could change before customers begin using it.

How the 1Rollo AI security robot patrols property

1Rollo uses a 360-degree computer vision system to monitor its surroundings. It also relies on Real-Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System positioning (RTK GNSS). RTK uses correction data to provide more precise positioning than standard satellite navigation. That precision could help the robot stay close to its assigned route around a business or industrial property. As the robot moves, its cameras and sensors look for obstacles. The system can then adjust its path to avoid a collision. Meanwhile, the AI analyzes the area for anomalies. If the system spots something unusual, it can send an alert over Wi-Fi or a 4G or 5G connection.

How the one-wheeled security robot stays balanced

Keeping a 100-pound robot upright on one wheel takes more than a clever-looking design. Rollo Robotics uses a vertically positioned spinning flywheel inside the machine. The flywheel sits in line with the main wheel and helps the robot maintain its balance. To turn, the system tilts the internal flywheel toward either side. Rollo Robotics describes the hardware and software behind this method as patent-pending. The single-wheel design gives the robot a narrow footprint. As a result, it may travel through spaces where a wider patrol vehicle would struggle. However, Rollo Robotics has not published detailed performance results for stairs, steep slopes or deeply uneven ground. Those real-world tests will show where the monowheel design works best.

1Rollo security robot speed and battery life

The company's current specifications list 1Rollo at about 43 inches tall. Its wheel measures 24 inches across, while the complete robot weighs approximately 100 pounds. Rollo Robotics lists a top speed of 19 mph. That is much faster than the walking pace of many existing security robots. Battery life reaches up to eight hours per charge, according to the company. The product information also lists autonomous wireless charging.

How cameras and sensors expand 1Rollo patrols

The standard robot includes a 360-degree vision system. However, Rollo Robotics designed the platform to support additional equipment. Customers could add thermal cameras for low-light environments. The platform can also support pan-tilt-zoom cameras for viewing activity farther away. Other compatible equipment includes night vision, RFID systems and custom payloads. These options could help companies adapt the robot for a specific property.

How operators could manage a 1Rollo robot fleet

A cloud-based management platform would allow operators to monitor multiple robots from one location. Security teams could define patrol routes and review performance through the platform. An operator could also watch a live feed after receiving an alert. The robot includes a microphone and speaker. Therefore, the operator could speak with someone near the machine without immediately sending a guard. We have seen a similar approach with the Ascento Guard autonomous security robot. That machine also patrols property while human operators handle serious incidents.

However, robots still need to prove they provide meaningful results. Dublin, Ohio, recently retired an AI robot cop that recorded no arrests during its parking garage pilot. That case does not predict how 1Rollo will perform. Still, it shows why customers should establish clear goals before deploying autonomous security technology.

How the 1Rollo subscription model could work

Rollo Robotics plans to offer 1Rollo through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. Customers would subscribe to the service instead of buying the robot outright. According to CEO and co-founder Sander Sebastian Agur, the subscription would include access to current hardware, software updates and support. The model could remove a large upfront equipment expense. It may also make repairs and future upgrades easier for customers. Rollo Robotics says its goal is to reduce operating costs compared with relying on human guards or patrol vehicles. However, the company has not announced subscription pricing.

AI security robot privacy and cybersecurity questions

A connected robot may improve physical security while creating new digital concerns. 1Rollo uses wireless connections and a cloud platform. Therefore, customers should ask how the company encrypts camera feeds and protects operator accounts. They should also ask where recordings are stored. Clear deletion policies will become important for employees and visitors who appear on camera. Meanwhile, the robot needs a safe way to handle a lost internet connection. It should keep avoiding people and obstacles even when a remote operator cannot reach it. Buyers should also learn how Rollo Robotics delivers security updates. A compromised patrol robot could expose video or provide unauthorized access to its controls. Lawmakers have already raised similar concerns about autonomous machines. A proposed federal bill would restrict government use of some foreign robots over national security fears. Rollo Robotics operates in Estonia, but every connected robot deserves the same cybersecurity review.

What this means to you

You probably will not find a one-wheeled robot guarding people's driveway anytime soon. However, businesses could begin seeing machines like 1Rollo around warehouses or office campuses. Large private properties may also use them to cover areas that guards cannot watch continuously. The robot could handle repetitive patrols while people make decisions during an incident. That may also keep guards away from hazardous areas until they understand what is happening. Still, a moving camera can feel more intrusive than one mounted on a wall. Employees and visitors deserve to know when the robot records them. They should also know who can watch the footage and how long the company keeps it. Those answers should arrive before the robot begins its first patrol.
