Jayden Daniels expected back within a month as Commanders rule out surgery on dislocated elbow

Jayden Daniels is expected to return to the Washington Commanders within the month after it has been determined he will not undergo surgery on his dislocated left elbow.

That comes from Commanders general manager Adam Peters , who shared the positive news on his weekly appearance on 1067 The Fan in Richmond, Virginia Friday morning.

"He met with doctors all over the country," Peters said. "We got a lot of good opinions. As of right now, surgery is not on the table and we haven’t discussed IR."

And suddenly the week of hand-wringing and depression for Washington Commanders fans ends.

It's not awesome news, because the actual meaning of this is the club expects Daniels to miss multiple games. But the expectation is no more than four games, otherwise the club would definitely be considering placing Daniels on the injured reserve list.

The big deal is that, although some medical opinions Daniels heard did strongly suggest season-ending surgery, he also was told he can be effective with rest and treatment and still play this season without surgery.

It didn't look that way after Daniels' had his left elbow dislocate in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Daniels suffered the injury when he stumbled while pulling away from center and braced himself against the turf. The elbow gave way, bending in a direction it is not meant to.

Doctors worked the elbow back into place, and X-rays showed no fracture, but Daniels was ruled out for the game and spent the last week hearing from specialists.

This injury is especially concerning because Daniels dislocated the same elbow last season against the Seattle Seahawks, avoided surgery after tests showed no ligament damage and later re-injured it upon returning, ending his 2025 season.

So Daniels and the Commanders find themselves in practically the exact same scenario while veteran Marcus Mariota will start at quarterback for the Commanders – at least this week.

Several fans who attended Ed Sheeran’s concert in Philadelphia last weekend after Macklemore was dropped for making "Free Palestine" comments, warned other artists that if they make political statements, they will alienate half of their audience.

The "Bad Habits" singer is expected to play his second and third concerts since the controversy this Friday and Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is owned by Robert Kraft.

The New England Patriots owner allegedly threatened to cancel the concerts at his venue if Macklemore wasn’t taken off the tour, according to the "Thrift Shop" rapper.

Macklemore also claimed Kraft got other stadium owners to agree to not allow Sheeran to play at their venues if the rapper was still with his tour.

"The fact that they’re forcing Ed Sheeran to have an opinion is not right," one woman told Fox News Digital outside last Saturday’s concert. "He wants to stay in the middle – if you have an opinion, that’s fine, but you’re going to alienate at least 50% of your population, and it causes unrest."

Macklemore was dropped as the opening act for Sheeran’s tour earlier this month after he made pro-Palestinian comments at two concerts. The other supporting acts on Sheeran’s tour quit in solidarity with Macklemore.

In Philadelphia Saturday night, Sheeran made a nearly four-minute-long speech in which he explained to fans that he never wanted to be an activist musician and that he was there continuing his tour alone because he wanted to honor his commitment to fans.

He added that he could no longer hide how he feels about the humanitarian issue.

Another fan told Fox News Digital ahead of the concert last Saturday that, as artists and musicians have a right to speak their mind: "They also don’t have to — they’re entertainment. I have a right to choose to listen or to not listen. I think it’s all about my choice — I live in America, I can decide to ignore or to listen, and they have the same right."

I want us to have a space where we can be happy and get away from the rest of the world for a little while, and that’s why we’re here."

Welcome to Friday Screencaps and day 12 of 13 straight editions of Screencaps I've pumped out for you guys. Is it hard to dump out so many editions in a row? It is if it's the middle of summer and we don't have content like the Packers getting absolutely pummeled — and booed off the field at halftime – by the Falcons, 35-14.

A night like that produces content like this that I can then turn into a preview of my upcoming weekend that will include a trip to the pumpkin patch where Screencaps Jr. will be running tomorrow. In one of the biggest upsets in Hooters calendar history, the brand announced this week that an Ohio woman, Sophia Zullo, was the 2027 bikini calendar cover model. Why am I shocked? The brand has been retreating by the month back to its roots in Florida. As someone who has tracked Hooters for nearly all of my 20-year Internet career, I figured the brand would lean into its Florida operations by naming a Florida woman to the top honor.

Nope, they leaned into...Ohio? There are just two Hooters left in the Buckeye state: one in Dayton and the Mason store.

Liberal justice hammers Supreme Court for fast-tracking emergency docket cases

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson ripped her colleagues for fast-tracking cases on the high court’s emergency docket, saying "it has been noticeably less restrained, especially with respect to pending cases that involve controversial matters."

The emergency docket, sometimes known as the shadow or interim docket, allows parties to ask the Supreme Court to quickly intervene in lawsuits and temporarily pause lower court rulings. The process can take a couple of days, weeks or months, and is viewed as a much speedier, although temporary, way to secure court relief than when the court fully considers the merits of a case, which can include a long briefing schedule and oral arguments.

"Why is it that one party should get a fast pass to the Supreme Court of the United States, when so many other parties are queued up, waiting patiently for the court’s attention?" Jackson said Thursday during a speech at the University of the District of Columbia’s law school, according to The Hill.

"If we’re not careful, the emergency docket can and will become an end run around the standard review process, a special avenue that certain privileged litigants can use selectively," she added.

Jackson's speech comes as the Trump administration has submitted 40 emergency applications to the Supreme Court since the start of the president's second term, The Hill reported.

Through the emergency docket, the Supreme Court has greenlit Trump's mass firings of career employees and high-profile terminations of Democratic appointees. It has curtailed nationwide injunctions and cleared the way for controversial deportations and immigration stops.

Since the start of Trump’s second term, his administration has won about 80% of its appeals on the emergency docket, according to Politico.

The Supreme Court’s majority has often split along ideological lines and offered little reason for its emergency decisions. This differs from final orders from the court, which can be lengthy and include numerous concurring opinions and dissents.

Jackson also said Thursday that parties should be required to prove impending harm in cases that cannot wait for full adjudication by the lower courts, as opposed to the Supreme Court granting stay applications based on whether lower courts could have made mistakes, Courthouse News Service reported.

"Significant real-world harms can follow Supreme Court stay rulings, and when the court’s orders do not acknowledge that reality, they seem oblivious and ring hollow," Jackson was quoted as saying. "We cannot expect the public to have faith in our judicial system if, without clear explanation, we are consistently greenlighting harmful acts that do real damage to litigating plaintiffs without a court decision fully and fairly determining the lawfulness of that challenged conduct on the merits."

Democrat politicians are betraying their own voters on trans sports issue

Jean Chadbourne is a registered Democrat who has donated to Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg. And she lives in the Bay Area, where she is surrounded by progressives who recoil at the sound of Donald Trump's name.

So it probably wouldn't surprise you that she is seething at a certain political party right now. What might surprise you, though — is that that political party is her own.

As OutKick’s Jackson Thompson reported, only two Democrats showed up to Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on protecting women's sports, and both left within an hour. The party's leaders weren't on hand to hear testimony from witnesses arguing the need to separate biological males and females in athletic competition, and they called no witnesses of their own.

DEMOCRATS STAY QUIET ON NEXT STEPS AFTER SUPREME COURT TRANSGENDER SPORTS RULING

Some might say this was an effort to dismiss a Republican talking point designed to rile up the GOP base. But Chadbourne, who regularly attends rallies in support of girls having their own spaces, will tell you that the Democrats are alienating their own constituents.

"They're eroding their base," said Chadbourne, who founded Women are Real — a grassroots women's group she says is about 65 percent Democrat. "You would think four years into this I would be prepared for them to continue to die on this hill. However, I again was just struck with how deranged this whole thing was...they didn't even want to argue their case for why boys should be in girls sports."

It's no secret that Republican voters are largely against the inclusion of trans athletes in girls and women's sports. What might be less known is that most Democrat voters are, too.

A New York Times poll from last year showed that 67 percent of people who lean Dem oppose the mixing of the two sexes in sports, while a Pew poll said 55 percent of Democrats would be "not too" or "not at all" comfortable with athletes playing on teams that don't match their sex at birth. Yet Democrat politicians seem to disregard this substantial portion of their base. Or they do what Virginia governor Abigail Spanberger did in July, which was to roll back proposed protections for biological females sports without announcing it to the public.

It's as though they know their actions (or lack thereof) will cause a stir among their constituents, so they navigate the issue as clandestinely as possible. But why?

Kara Dansky, another registered Democrat, has some theories. In 2023, Dansky wrote a book called "The Reckoning: How the Democrats and the Left Betrayed Women and Girls." And one point she's made repeatedly is how there is a "multi-billion industry" motivated to make gender-transitioning as frequent as possible.

"A lot of kids are being put on a lot of drugs, which, if they go the traditional route, they will take for decades if not the rest of their lives," said Dansky, a lawyer who also attends rallies supporting the separation of sexes in sports. "So we're putting a large chunk of the young generation on a lifetime's worth of hormones."

Her point? There is a well-funded lobbying effort that could be influencing lawmakers.

This, of course, is not something that can be confirmed at the moment. What's undeniable, though, is Trump's opposition to trans athletes in female sports. And the President is a bit of a magician in this regard — if he's for something, he can instantly turn the Democrats against it.

Former Democrat Jennifer Sey — the founder of XX-XY Athletics — couldn't help but zero in on this. She is convinced that the Democrat politicians are guided not by the public, but by Trump-deranged staffers who influence their every decision.

Part of the reason she left the party was because its leaders couldn't define what a woman is. How many more will walk away over the same issue?

"I think the (Democrat) politicians are old and out of touch, they're not even reading the words given to them by the activist staffers," said Sey, whose XX-XY shirts have become synonymous with the separation of biological males and females in sports. "They've completely lost touch with not just their voters, but with reality."

Here's something else Sey would label fiction — the idea that girls would have to undergo "inappropriate gender verification checks" if there were a national ban on biological males in female sports, as Democrat senator Dick Durbin asserted Wednesday. Sey's counter is that there is already a ban in 27 states, and these verification checks aren't happening.

This is unlikely to stop politicians from employing scare tactics, though. And despite the majority of Democrat voters' feelings on the trans-athlete subject, Dansky is skeptical that it will have much of an impact on the midterms.

She thinks the Democrats' strategy is to simply ignore this issue and hope Trump's unpopularity will be enough for them to flip the house and senate. Maybe that will work. But this issue isn't going away.

Among Wednesday's witnesses was former Australian rules football player Carly Smolak, who testified that a registered sex offender had joined her former team. At a Capitol Hill press conference after the hearing, 17-year-old high school volleyball player Briley Lehcner spoke about a biological male having entered her team's locker room. And last year, Oregon, Washington and California all had state-champion track-and-field athletes that were born male. Whether these are common incidents is up for debate, but they aren't isolated ones.

Democrat politicians don't seem concerned, though.

"I think of myself as being on the political left, but this issue is absolutely regressive," Dansky said. "It really bothers me that people who push this get to be called progressives. It's not progressive."

Perhaps there will come a day when the majority of Democrats support having biological males in women's sports. But it won't be because politicians persuaded people such as Dansky or Chadbourne. It will be because Dems who see this issue as they do...simply left the party.

Ole Miss names students found dead as official addresses potential for foul play

OXFORD, Miss. — The two University of Mississippi students found dead under suspicious circumstances in recent days have been identified by the school — which also said the names were being released with their families' approval.

Robert Strang, a 20-year-old from Atlanta, is the older of the two victims. The second student was as Aidan Hamilton, an 18-year-old freshman from Colorado.

"We are heartbroken by the loss of our dear son and are trying to process this unimaginable loss," Strang's family spokesman Scott Sayres told Fox News Digital Thursday. "We are deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers and support by so many beloved friends and family. Their kindness has meant more to our family than we can ever express."

Hamilton's family said in a statement that "Aidan was a bright, wonderful young man who was taken too soon. He is greatly missed. We thank everyone for their prayers and support and ask that you respect our family’s privacy during this time of great loss."

Both families have asked for privacy and compassion as they mourn the losses of their sons.

TWO OLE MISS STUDENTS FOUND DEAD AS PACKAGED KRATOM IS RECOVERED AT TWO SITES: OFFICIALS

Separately, Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Sean Tindell told Fox News Digital that while authorities haven't uncovered any indications of foul play, they haven't ruled it out either.

"Until the autopsy is reported, and the investigators have an opportunity to get statements and collect evidence, then that final determination will not be made until later," he said.

Without the toxicology reports, it's also too early to determine whether kratom or other drugs were involved in the deaths. Police previously said that they found packages of kratom, which is commercially available in many places but not Lafayette County, at both scenes.

He also said that both deaths happened at around the same time, or at least within a few hours, which was also suspicious. However, he said he expects the autopsy reports to give investigators a more specific window.

"The timing of it is suspicious, but I don't know that they have any direct relation other than if they both had ingested the substance from the same source," he said. "Then at some point we would try to track it back to that source and take appropriate action."

Social media posts from the Ole Miss chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity identify Strang as one of seven co-chairmen of the 2026 Rush, when new members are recruited.

"As our university community continues to mourn the recent tragic loss of two of our students, I encourage everyone to remember that at the center of this are two grieving families, who are processing the unimaginable loss of a child," the school's Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Shawnboda Mead said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

"We have been in touch with the families to offer our deepest sympathies and share university support and resources. Until now, we have upheld their wishes not to release the names of their students," she continued. "Today, the families of Aidan Hamilton, a freshman from Englewood, Colo., and Robert Strang, a junior from Atlanta, have given us permission to share their names. The families have asked for privacy as they grieve."

Mead continued to urge the public not to rely on speculation or unverified information about the case as law enforcement continues to investigate both deaths.

"We offer heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and classmates of Aidan and Robert," she said. "While there are no words that can alleviate the tremendous sorrow they are experiencing, please keep them close in your thoughts and prayers during this time of immense grief."

Phi Delta Theta's Ole Miss chapter also put out a statement after the university, asking for prayers for both victims.

"Phi Delta Theta joins the University of Mississippi and the broader Ole Miss community in mourning Robert and Aidan Hamilton and extending our deepest sympathies to their families, friends, chapter brothers, classmates, and all those who knew and loved them."

Strang was discovered at an off-campus home, according to the Lafayette County Coroner's Office. Hamilton, 18, is believed to have been found at Stewart Hall, a male dorm on the Ole Miss campus.

The Lafayette County Coroner's Office previously told Fox News that an 18-year-old had been found in a dorm room and the 20-year-old victim was recovered at an off-campus home. Both deaths are being investigated by the county's narcotics task force, and it's unclear whether they were connected.

Authorities found packages of kratom, a commercially available drug that has been derided as "gas station heroin," at both scenes, however its role in either death was not immediately clear. Campus Greek life leaders have previously circulated a warning about a synthetic opioid called cychlorphine.

Students are being urged to avoid all drugs.

Pittsburgh doctor stabbed to death after intruder allegedly attacks him, wife as they slept: police

A Pittsburgh children's hospital doctor was stabbed to death and his wife critically injured after a man allegedly entered their home and attacked the couple as they slept early Thursday, police said.

Dr. Idris Evans, 46, was killed in the attack at his home in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.

His wife remained in critical but stable condition Thursday, police told Fox News Digital.

County 9-1-1 received a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Linden Avenue at 12:31 a.m. First responders found Evans and his wife suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Evans was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His wife was also transported to a hospital.

Police identified 32-year-old Elijah Hemingway of Pittsburgh as the suspect.

Detectives determined through witness interviews that Hemingway allegedly entered the home and attacked Evans and his wife while they were sleeping, according to police.

Evans' wife told investigators that they awoke to a man attacking them in bed with a kitchen knife, according to court documents obtained by KDKA. She said the attacker was wearing only underwear and uttered about "being God," the outlet reported.

During the attack, Evans' wife yelled for the couple's children, ages 8 and 12, to get out of the house and go to a neighbor's home, according to KDKA.

"We do not know if there was any pre-existing relationship," Allegheny County Assistant Superintendent Victor Joseph said, according to KDKA. "The woman did not know this male. We are trying to determine if the two males knew each other."

A K-9 unit from the Monroeville Police Department searching the area found Hemingway behind a nearby home with cuts to his hand, according to county police. Hemingway remained hospitalized Thursday pending transfer to the Allegheny County Jail, police told Fox News Digital.

Hemingway faces charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass, police said. Police told Fox News Digital there were no updates to the charges Thursday.

Investigators have not announced a motive. Police told Fox News Digital that both a possible motive and whether Hemingway and Evans knew each other remained part of the ongoing investigation.

Evans was the medical director of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, according to his university profile.

Al Michaels is better than this, right?

Look, it wasn't great. Although, to be fair, I was a little confused as to why Atlanta was going for two as well.

Yes, I understand the math works out in their favor and that's why they did it, but come on ... there was three minutes left. Green Bay hadn't moved the ball all night. There was a zero, and I mean zero percent chance the Packers were going to somehow score not one, not two, but THREE touchdowns in three minutes.

I don't really fault Al on being a little confused on that one.

But the "ATL" chant that left him absolutely befuddled? Yeah, that was a tough scene. Kirk was just as bad. What do you guys think "ATL" means?! Feel like that one comes with some pretty easy context clues.

For me, the worst look last night was Al's call on Bijan Robinson's long run in the first quarter. I can look the other way on most of it. He is 81, after all.

James Copenhaver, man shot at Trump Butler rally, dies of complications from injuries

James Copenhaver, of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, who was wounded in a failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in 2024, has died, according to several reports.

Copenhaver, in his mid-70s, was one of several people who attempted assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at the Butler Farm Show complex outside Butler, Pennsylvania, after Crooks scaled the roof of a nearby glass manufacturing building and took aim at the then-presidential candidate.

A statement from the Copenhaver family provided to Fox News Digital confirmed his death Thursday afternoon, and noted the veteran's "dedication to this great country."

"It is with profound sadness that the Copenhaver family confirms that James Copenhaver passed away on September 23, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones," the statement said.

"Above all else, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. James shared a lifetime of commitment to his wife, instilled the values of hard work, integrity, and the service of others in his children, and found some of his greatest joy in life in his grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he was the center of theirs.

GOP LAWMAKERS BLINDSIDED BY NEW REVELATIONS ABOUT TRUMP BUTLER SHOOTER: ‘AWFULLY STRANGE’

Trump described Copenhaver on Thursday as a "true American Patriot," writing on Truth Social that Copenhaver's death is a "tremendous loss."

"More than two years ago in Butler, Pennsylvania, a crazed gunman attempted to stifle our America First Movement. Instead, Jim and so many other wonderful Patriots who love our Country, stood united in defense of our shared values of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice. After being wounded while protecting his family, Jim showed tremendous bravery, courageously continuing to FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, and maintaining a positive spirit despite unimaginable hardships," Trump added. "His indelible legacy of love and devotion will forever endure. Our hearts and prayers are with the Copenhaver family, especially his incredible wife Marianne."

The House Republican Conference posted an obituary for Copenhaver on social media, saying he had died Thursday and that lawmakers were "deeply saddened."

"Jim endured unimaginable hardship with strength and perseverance. We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and praying for them during this difficult time. May he rest in peace," the caucus said in a statement.

Ken Silva, a journalist who wrote a book about the assassination attempt, wrote on his website that a person close to Copenhaver's family also confirmed Copenhaver had died and had been dealing with permanent injuries, including bullet fragments still lodged in his body.

David Dutch was also wounded in the shooting but survived. Butler County firefighter Corey Comperatore was shot and killed in the bleachers behind Trump’s dais that day.

Speaking to Pittsburgh's KDKA in 2025, Copenhaver said he stood to look at the jumbotron behind him as Trump spoke.

"Next thing I know, my sleeve has been yanked," he said. "I could see a portion of it going by pretty fast, and I heard 'pew.' I heard it, and I didn't realize at the time that I had gotten shot."

He said he was then shot a second time but that the bullets both "went into soft material."

"It was like a jolt. It didn't knock me over, but I didn't want to stand anymore," he told the station.

A lawsuit Copenhaver filed against the United States earlier this year alleged he was also required to undergo multiple surgeries.

Mayor Jondavid Longo of nearby Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania — who spoke at the Butler rally — mourned Copenhaver’s reported death Thursday.

"[Copenhaver] survived that day, but he never fully recovered from the wounds. For two years he lived with surgeries, remaining fragments, and pain that never left him. Those of us who were there that day have never forgotten Corey Comperatore, David Dutch, or Jim," Longo said in a statement on X.

"Butler County still carries that afternoon. May he rest in peace. Prayers for Marianne and the Copenhaver family."

The attack triggered intense scrutiny of the Secret Service after investigations uncovered breakdowns in planning, communication and security around the rally site. Then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned less than two weeks later, taking responsibility for the security lapse. A subsequent bipartisan House task force concluded the Butler attack was preventable and identified failures in planning, execution and leadership.

One of the Republican lawmakers on that task force, Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida, climbed onto the roof Crooks used to take aim at Trump and later told Fox News Digital he was incredulous at how easy it was to scale after Cheatle had cited the roof’s slope in explaining why it was not secured.

Six Secret Service agents were later suspended without pay in connection with the failures.

Trump returned to Butler in October 2024, less than three months after the assassination attempt, to hold another rally at the same site and honor Comperatore.

Trump’s raised fist and mouthing of the word "fight" became a lasting image of the assassination attempt that he used throughout his successful campaign to become the first president since Grover Cleveland to serve two nonconsecutive terms.

A metal detectorist in Finland unearthed a massive Viking Age silver hoard estimated to contain more than 4,000 coins — the largest discovery of its kind ever found in the country.

The hoard, uncovered by metal detectorist Kalle Lappinen, was found near the village center of Sysmä, a town about 105 miles northeast of Helsinki.

Lappinen discovered the hoard on Sept. 3 and promptly reported it to authorities. Archaeologists from Lahti Museums began recovering the silver the very next day.

The hoard consists of "thousands of silver coins, hack silver, a silver bracelet, a mount and a bead," according to a museum release.

The hoard includes coins from present-day Sweden, Britain and Germany, as well as dirhams originating from areas that are now part of Turkey and Iran.

The recovered coins weigh approximately 10 pounds in total and are believed to date to between 1000 and 1050 A.D., as Lahti Museums archaeologist Esko Tikkala told Fox News Digital.

Tikkala oversaw the hoard's recovery. He said the dating remains preliminary and will be refined after the coins have been cleaned and thoroughly studied.

While Tikkala has excavated other Late Iron Age hoards in the region, he said the sheer size of the Sysmä discovery surprised him.

"Instead of the tens or few hundreds of coins we usually encounter, this find contains thousands," he said.

Even at this preliminary stage, Tikkala said the discovery adds to evidence that Sysmä was an important hub during the Late Iron Age, with trade connections extending in multiple directions.

"Today, Sysmä might be regarded as a relatively modest and peripheral place, but judging from the Late Iron Age archaeological material, the situation seems to have been very different a thousand years ago," he said.

The hoard also contains more than twice as many coins as Finland's previously largest known Viking Age coin hoard, which was unearthed in Nousiainen in 1895 and contained approximately 1,700 coins, Tikkala added.

The identity of the hoard's owner has been lost to time, Tikkala said, though several theories exist about why the silver was buried.

The coins and other objects were buried beside a low rocky outcrop in spots where they could have been relatively easily recovered, he added.

Why their owner never returned for the treasure, however, remains a mystery.

"Perhaps a merchant buried part of his wealth for safekeeping so that he did not have to carry it with him, intending to retrieve it the next time he returned to the area," Tikkala said.

"Alternatively, it may have belonged to a wealthy local inhabitant who buried it because of the threat of conflict or an enemy attack," he added. "There are many possible explanations, and it is very difficult to determine what actually happened or who the owner was."

Frida Ehrnsten, keeper of the numismatic collections at the National Museum of Finland, told Fox News Digital that the discovery could give researchers a new understanding of how silver circulated in the region roughly 1,000 years ago.

"It’s a very, very, very important new find that will in some ways probably change our perception of the Viking Age silver economy here," Ehrnsten said.

Ehrnsten noted that researchers generally do not describe the people living in Finland during the period as Vikings — as Vikings came from Scandinavia, which does not include Finland — though the term "Viking Age" is used to describe the broader era and cultural context.

She said one of the most intriguing aspects of the discovery is that the silver was found in two separate deposits roughly 39 feet apart.

"It’s kind of a double hoard," she said. "We haven’t really had any known examples of those from before."

Ehrnsten also noted that hobby metal detectorists have played a major role in the surge of archaeological coin discoveries across Finland.

About 25 years ago, roughly 7,000 Viking Age coins were known from Finland, she said. Today, that number stands at around 14,000.

AUSTIN, Texas — Former U.S. Ambassador Rahm Emanuel hasn't been shy about his potential prospects for the White House, but as 2028 approaches, the hypothetical Democratic field continues to get more crowded.

In an interview with Fox News Digital at the Texas Tribune Festival, Emanuel pointed to three things that separate him from the pack — if he chooses to run.

"Candor, authenticity and strength," Emanuel told Fox News Digital.

We're at a tipping point in the country. I think we've wasted a lot of time in the last 12 years trying to restore, as I said, a past that's not coming back. We better think about a future that includes everybody. We don't have a person to waste or a community to overlook and make the investments that make this country stronger."

"And so I'm gonna be honest about it. And I think I bring a level of experience at multiple levels of government that actually, on day one, you start getting the job done. Because we don't have a day to waste," he added.

During an interview Thursday with OutKick to promote the upcoming "on!vitational" indoor golf tournament (Oct. 16-17; SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida), the LPGA star made it clear she's tired of claims that Sweeney is ruining women's sports with her nearly naked commercial to promote prediction market platform Novig.

"The amount of backlash that (it) is getting, I just don't understand the way people's brains work," the world’s 8th-ranked female golfer said of the ridiculous reactions from other female athletes who completely overreacted.

Hacker claims 7.49M customer records stolen from American utility company

If you pay an electric or gas bill every month, you probably think about the amount due, not all the personal information sitting behind that account. But your utility company may have your home address, phone number, billing history and other details that can become very useful in the wrong hands. That is what makes the breach at CenterPoint Energy worth paying attention to, even if you have never been one of its customers.

CenterPoint says an unauthorized third party obtained personal information belonging to some customers through an external-facing system. A hacker, meanwhile, claims to have stolen 7.49 million customer records, including addresses, account numbers, billing information and partial Social Security numbers.

There is an important catch. CenterPoint has confirmed that customer information was stolen, but it has not confirmed the hacker's 7.49 million figure or the specific information the attacker says was taken. So, there are still plenty of questions about how big this breach really is. Here's what CenterPoint has confirmed, what the hacker is claiming and what you should watch for now.

CenterPoint Energy confirms customer data was stolen

CenterPoint Energy disclosed the incident in a Sept. 14 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The Houston-based utility says it became aware of an online post from a third party claiming to possess a data set containing CenterPoint customer information.

CenterPoint then activated its cybersecurity incident response procedures and brought in outside cybersecurity experts. As the investigation progressed, the company determined that an unauthorized third party had obtained personal information belonging to some customers through one of its external-facing systems.

CenterPoint has not publicly said how many customers were affected. It also has not detailed which types of personal information were taken. The company says it plans to notify affected customers and regulators as required once it determines the scope of the incident.

CyberGuy reached out to CenterPoint Energy asking whether it could confirm the hacker's claim that 7.49 million records were stolen, what customer information was affected and whether a public API was involved. CenterPoint referred us to its SEC filing and provided this statement: "Our filing speaks for itself." The company did not provide additional details in response to our questions.

There is one piece of reassuring news for anyone who depends on CenterPoint for power or gas. The company says its electric and natural gas services continued operating normally during the incident. CenterPoint also says it currently does not expect the breach to have a material impact on its financial condition.

Hacker claims 7.49 million CenterPoint records were stolen

The bigger number comes from the attacker. A threat actor using the alias "4d722e4d656f77" told BleepingComputer that they obtained 7.49 million CenterPoint customer records.

According to the hacker, those records contain:

Names
Phone numbers
Service and billing addresses
CenterPoint account numbers
Billing amounts
Partial Social Security numbers

The attacker later leaked the data after claiming CenterPoint ignored their attempts to make contact. Again, CenterPoint has confirmed that customer information was stolen, but it has not independently confirmed this list of exposed data or the 7.49 million record count. Also, 7.49 million records does not necessarily mean 7.49 million individual people were affected. One person or household can potentially appear in more than one record. CenterPoint says it is still working to determine the actual scope.

Hacker says a public CenterPoint system allowed automated data access

The attacker's explanation of how the theft allegedly happened may be one of the most interesting parts of this breach. The hacker told BleepingComputer they accessed the information by repeatedly cycling through millions of IDs using a public CenterPoint API.

An API allows different software systems to exchange information. Companies use them constantly behind websites and apps. According to the attacker, CenterPoint's API lacked protections that could have slowed or blocked mass automated requests. The hacker specifically claimed there was no effective rate limiting or web application firewall protection against the activity. CenterPoint's SEC filing does not confirm that attack method.

What CenterPoint does confirm is that the unauthorized third party obtained information through an external-facing system. That means we should treat the API explanation as the attacker's account until the company or investigators provide more technical details.

Why stolen utility records can be valuable to scammers

A utility account may not seem as sensitive as a bank account. Yet it can hold exactly the kind of information a scammer wants before contacting you.

Think about how convincing this could sound: Someone calls and knows your name. They know your service address. They may know your CenterPoint account number or recent billing amount. Then they tell you there is a problem with your payment. That conversation can feel much more legitimate because the scammer already has information you would expect only the utility company to know.

Criminals can also combine information from one breach with details leaked somewhere else. A partial Social Security number, phone number or address may become more useful when paired with another stolen database. That is one reason I tell people to think about breaches as pieces of a much larger identity puzzle.

Stolen information can stick around for years. Criminals can save it, trade it and revisit it long after the original breach disappears from the news. You can read more about why last year's data breach can become this year's identity fraud.

Watch for fake CenterPoint calls, texts and emails

The immediate threat may not come from someone opening an account in your name. It could arrive as a text message. Once news of a breach becomes public, scammers can take advantage of the confusion even if they never obtained the stolen database themselves.

You could receive a message claiming CenterPoint needs you to "verify" your account after the breach. Another scammer might warn that your electricity will be disconnected unless you make an immediate payment. Be especially suspicious if someone creates urgency and then asks you to click a link, provide account information or move money.

If you receive a suspicious CenterPoint message, go directly to the company's official website or use the contact information printed on your bill. Avoid calling a number supplied in an unexpected message.

8 ways to protect yourself after the CenterPoint Energy breach

Whether you are a CenterPoint customer or simply wondering what you would do after your own utility provider suffered a breach, these steps can reduce your exposure.

1) Watch for an official CenterPoint breach notice

CenterPoint says it intends to notify affected customers as required. If you receive a notice, read it carefully. Look for exactly what information CenterPoint says was involved and whether the company offers credit monitoring or other assistance. Do not rely on a text message or social media post claiming you were affected.

2) Freeze your credit

If CenterPoint’s breach notice confirms that Social Security information was involved, consider placing a credit freeze with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. A freeze can make it harder for someone to open new credit accounts in your name. It is free, and you can temporarily lift it when you legitimately need a lender to access your credit file. Keep in mind that a freeze cannot stop every kind of identity theft. Existing account takeovers and other fraud can happen without a new credit check.

3) Check your credit reports and financial accounts

Review your credit reports for accounts or inquiries you do not recognize. Then keep an eye on your bank accounts and credit cards for unfamiliar transactions. If something looks suspicious, contact the financial institution using the number on its official website, statement or the back of your card.

4) Secure your email and utility accounts

Your primary email account deserves extra attention because criminals can use it to reset passwords for other services. Use a strong, unique password and turn on two-factor authentication (2FA). Do the same for your utility account if the provider offers those protections. A password manager can create unique passwords so one stolen login does not give an attacker access to several accounts.

5) Treat utility shutoff threats as a red flag

A scammer may claim you owe money and threaten to disconnect your electricity or gas immediately. Do not let the urgency rush you into paying. Hang up and contact the utility yourself through its official website or the customer service number printed on your bill.

6) Use strong antivirus protection

A convincing breach-related email can still lead to a malicious website or malware download. Strong antivirus software can help detect phishing sites, malicious links and malware before they cause more trouble. 7) Reduce how much personal information is already online

Data brokers and people-search sites may already publish your phone number, address and other personal information. Removing that data will not erase information stolen in a breach. However, reducing publicly available information gives scammers fewer pieces they can use to build a detailed profile around leaked data. 8) Consider identity theft monitoring

Identity theft protection can monitor credit activity and alert you when certain personal information appears in places where it could signal trouble. These services cannot prevent every form of identity theft. However, alerts can help you spot suspicious activity earlier. If you discover that someone has actually used your identity, document what happened and begin the recovery process quickly. Popular weight-loss drugs may play surprising role in cancer outcomes

As GLP-1 medications continue reshaping the treatment of obesity and diabetes, researchers are also investigating whether the drugs could influence cancer risk and outcomes.

The American Association for Cancer Research's 2026 Cancer Progress Report, released earlier this month, noted that obesity is a major risk factor for many cancers.

As glucagon-like peptide-1 medications – including semaglutides like Ozempic and Wegovy, and tirzepatides like Mounjaro and Zepbound – are known to cause substantial weight loss and improve metabolic health, they have attracted significant interest among cancer researchers.

While the AACR report cited studies suggesting GLP-1 medications may reduce the risk of certain cancers, it emphasized that the overall evidence is mixed and more research is needed.

"Randomized clinical trials remain the gold standard ... however, such trials have not yet been conducted specifically to assess cancer outcomes associated with GLP-1 RA use," the report stated.

Sai Yendamuri, M.D., a thoracic surgeon at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York, reiterated that obesity is a leading cause of cancer, second to smoking. Additional risk factors include alcohol and poor nutrition, he noted, "which are all layered into obesity."

"So if obesity is related to cancer – both in terms of causing it and increasing its progression – the logical question is, would a drug that decreases obesity have an impact?" the doctor, who was not associated with the AACR report, said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

There are "many lines of evidence" that suggest this would be the case, Yendamuri suggested.

"For example, when people studied patients who were having metabolic surgery to decrease obesity, for example, the incidence of cancer decreased in those patients."

Researchers then started looking at patients who were on GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as Ozempic.

"And then they compared the incidence of cancer in those patients to patients who were not taking GLP-1 receptor agonists – and many of those studies found that the risk of cancer was lower and the survival was higher in the patients taking GLP-1s," the doctor said.

Although the majority of studies showed this effect, Yendamuri noted that some did not identify a relationship – and a couple of studies even showed an increased risk of some specific cancers, such as thyroid cancer.

"The reason you find this disconnect … is because these are retrospective studies," he said. "That is, they look at existing data, and they're trying to derive associations from existing data … but there are many other variables that can impact the result."

Yendamuri and his team of researchers have conducted their own studies of the relationship between obesity and lung cancer.

"We have found in every investigation we've done that obesity does increase the risk of lung cancer," he shared.

CANCER TREATMENT DELAYS SURGE ACROSS US AS DOCTOR WARNS SYSTEM ‘NEEDS FIXING IMMEDIATELY’

Obesity also depends on how it's defined and measured, Yendamuri noted. While body mass index (BMI) has traditionally been the standard measure, many obesity researchers are moving away from relying on BMI alone and instead using more precise assessments of body fat composition.

Yendamuri shared two key findings from his research.

"If someone's having a resection, a lung cancer surgery, for patients who are on GLP-1 receptor agonists, the recurrence rate seems to be lower."

Additionally, patients with advanced-stage cancers who are in immunotherapy and taking GLP-1s had lower recurrence rates, he noted.

Based on preclinical laboratory studies, Yendamuri said he believes GLP-1 medications have only a limited direct effect on cancer cells.

"What we think is happening is that it changes the body’s immune response to cancer cells, and thereby improves its ability to fight cancer cells," he told Fox News Digital.

The effect may differ depending on the type of cancer, Yendamuri said, because the immune response is more important in some cancers than others.

"For example, in some cancers like melanoma, we know that the immune response is incredibly important," he said.

Yendamuri acknowledged that at least some of the cancer benefit likely stems from weight loss.

"Not every patient who takes GLP-1 receptor agonists responds with a substantial weight loss, so in future trials, it would be interesting to see if the benefit for patients depends on the weight loss," he said.

"If those patients who have weight loss with GLP-1 receptor agonists have the same cancer benefit as patients who do not have weight loss, that will answer that question."

Depending on the outcomes of future trials, the doctor said he is hopeful that GLP-1 drugs could one day be regarded as a preventive mechanism for cancer.

"More and more, we are realizing that apart from the treatment that you get for cancer, lifestyle modifications – exercise, decreasing weight and now GLP-1 receptor agonists – will all have a role in both enhancing the treatment of cancer as well as preventing second cancers," he said.

'Castro's playbook': Ex-AG warns dozens of congressional bills are pushing socialist ideas

Federal guarantees for jobs and housing, the elimination of private health insurance, a massive Green New Deal expansion, and new taxes on unrealized wealth are among dozens of current congressional proposals being called out by a national free-market group led by former Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares.

Miyares, whose family fled Fidel Castro's communist regime, described the proposed laws seen on Capitol Hill as "straight from Castro’s playbook" in a sit-down interview with Fox News Digital. Miyares recently became the honorary chairman at the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, a conservative trade organization representing American businesses, which just launched a "Socialism Watch" initiative tracking 32 bills that have been introduced on Capitol Hill aiming to implement what the group describes as socialist policy goals across healthcare, energy, labor, housing, taxation and more.

"The year Fidel Castro took power in Cuba, Cuba had the same GDP as Greece. The year that he died, too bad the same GDP as Sudan," Miyares told Fox News Digital. "Socialism doesn't work. It impoverishes every country that embraces it."

Among the bills highlighted by Miyares and the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce is legislation that would ban fracking nationwide beginning in 2029, prohibit greenhouse-gas emissions from power plants and restrict new liquefied natural gas infrastructure and most U.S. oil and natural gas exports.

Others would create government-backed job-guarantee programs offering employment to qualifying applicants, replace private health insurance with a national Medicare for All program and impose annual taxes on accumulated wealth, even when those gains have not been realized through a sale.

The group is also zeroing in on a massive progressive push to overhaul American real estate: the "Housing is a Human Right Act." While supporters pitch the $300 billion bill as a moral crusade to end homelessness, critics like Miyares see it differently. They argue that by officially declaring shelter a government-guaranteed right and pumping billions into "social housing," the legislation is actively trying to push private landlords out of the market.

Other measures flagged by the group include a proposal to create a quasi-governmental "National Infrastructure Bank" to fund politically favored state projects, alongside a $1.6 trillion "Green New Deal for Public Schools" that the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce warns would hand local school district operations over to the federal government.

"These young people are embracing socialism thinking that it leads to helping those that are poor, disadvantaged. The reality is it does the opposite," Miyares told Fox News Digital. "It actually hurts the very people that it wants to help."

Miyares' warnings about socialism are rooted in his family's history in Cuba. His mother, Miriam, fled Fidel Castro's communist regime in 1965 at 19 years old, arriving in the United States after leaving nearly everything behind. Miyares has said his uncle, an opponent of Castro, was arrested following the Bay of Pigs invasion and subjected to a mock execution, an experience he has said helped drive his mother's decision to leave the island.

"So many young people have forgotten really, really painful lessons of history that you cannot judge a bill or an economic system based on intentions, you have to judge it on results," Miyares said. "What we've seen time and time again is socialism fails everywhere it's been tried."

But Miyares argued the debate is no longer confined to activists or ideological arguments outside Washington, pointing to the 32 bills tracked through the American Free Enterprise Chamber’s newly launched "Socialism Watch" initiative as evidence that policies associated with the socialist-left have made their way into actual legislation before Congress.

"AOC joked that woke one was crazy," Miyares said. "Well, it’s clear that woke two should belong in an insane asylum because it’s a full-blown embrace of Marxism and socialism."
