Defense industry leaders align with Trump admin plans in closed-door strategy session on defense spending

EXCLUSIVE: High-level Trump administration officials, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, met Thursday morning at the White House with key defense industry stakeholders where White House officials laid out their vision for the House of Representatives' current budget reconciliation package related to crucial funding for the Iran war.

Wiles, Department of War and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) leaders, along with leaders from 17 top defense contractors including Raytheon, BAE Systems, Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Palantir and others, were in attendance for the meeting, according to a Trump administration official. The Trump administration representatives laid out their vision for what is being called "Reconciliation 3.0."

The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that all the companies were aligned on the importance of this reconciliation package being passed, which, according to the administration official, they were.

The budget reconciliation process allows the party in power in Congress to pass sweeping fiscal policy legislation while completely sidelining the other side — in this case, Democrats.

It does so by bypassing the Senate filibuster — which needs 60 votes to overcome — allowing the upper chamber to line up with the House's own simple majority threshold.

Reconciliation 3.0 includes $73 billion for Pentagon and intelligence funding, which is largely tied to replenishing U.S. weapons caches for the Iran war.

While Wiles and the other Trump administration leaders articulated their vision for the third reconciliation bill, the entire room was bought in and committed to their plan, the source told Fox News Digital.

Further, the defense company leaders spoke favorably about the White House's approach, and said that they were working hard to advocate for lawmakers on the Hill to pass the House budget resolution before the imminent August recess.

The House has passed a framework with cash targets for relevant committees, but now, those committees need to provide details for how that money will be spent. The main players are the House Armed Services Committees and the House Intelligence Committee.

The president himself has vigorously advocated to get the deal done.

"I am asking all House Republicans to VOTE YES this week on the Budget Resolution, which is an important first step towards getting a Budget Bill," he said Monday on TRUTH Social.

ICE arrests Southwest Airlines flight attendant in Nashville for overstaying visa since 2021

A Southwest Airlines flight attendant who allegedly overstayed his visa was arrested by federal immigration authorities earlier this month while at work, officials said.

Lorenzo Thompson, a Jamaican citizen, was arrested on July 14 in Nashville, Tennessee, according to local reports.

Thompson first entered the United States on April 17, 2021, on a visa that expired on Oct. 16, 2021, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News.

"Against our nation’s laws, he overstayed his visa and failed to depart. He will remain in ICE custody pending his immigration proceedings," an ICE spokesperson said.

The agency noted that illegal immigrants are offered $2,600 and a free flight to self-deport from the U.S.

"We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream," the agency said. "If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return."

TWU Local 556, the union that represents Southwest Airlines flight attendants, also confirmed the arrest.

"Every Member deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and we are committed to ensuring this Member and their family know they are not alone during this difficult time," the union wrote on Facebook.

The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) said Thompson was working toward obtaining U.S. citizenship.

"He had a valid work visa and was a dedicated flight attendant, touching countless lives with his kindness," the group wrote on social media.

An online crowdfunding page launched to cover Thompson's legal bills said he left Jamaica "seeking safety from life-threatening abuse."

"Since arriving, he has worked tirelessly to build a stable life, following every legal step toward citizenship," the page states. "He has no criminal record. No parking tickets. He holds a valid work visa, has a pending asylum case, and is a dedicated flight attendant for a beloved airline."

The page described him as "honest, caring, and loyal, always ready to lend a hand without expecting anything back."

TAMPA, FL - Taking the podium to an emptying out ballroom on Thursday afternoon at SEC Media Days, Steve Sarkisian did not shy away from the CFP expectations surrounding his Texas Longhorns this season.

After an early portion of the summer was seemingly dedicated to ruffling feathers within his own state of Texas, along with touching on the intricate courses of 'basketweaving' at Ole Miss, the attention finally turned to the lofty expectations that await the Longhorns this season.

This time last year, the conversation centered around the unrealistic preseason hype around his quarterback

"Arch Manning a year ago wasn’t on social media or television saying he was going to win the Heisman Trophy, or be the first pick in the draft," Steve Sarkisian said about the hype last year around Arch. "What he got put through would’ve melted 99% of the people in his shoes..

"What he got put through would’ve ruined 95% of the people in his shoes."

Some decided to put him in the Heisman Trophy conversation before he had actually taken meaningful snaps for the Longhorns, while others (hey there) kept the expectations at a reasonable position.

Even Arch was the one who had to remind reporters last year in Atlanta that he had not accomplished anything at Texas worthy enough to have him on the constant preseason awards watch list.

But now, after a second half progression last season for the Longhorns, Manning is worthy enough to be labeled a Heisman Trophy contender. It also helps that Steve Sarkisian loaded up in the transfer portal with talent to surround his quarterback on the offensive side of the ball, led by wide receiver Cam Coleman.

"Manning is a lot more confident," Sarkisian said about Arch. "I think last season, he found out a lot about himself. Any time we're face with adversity, and we got on the other side of it, you gain confidence. I think that you see a different leader in him, in the way he interacts with his teammates.

"He's very comfortable with who he is. He's not trying to be something that he's not."

If there was ever a time to put Sarkisian on a list of coaches who needed to live up to the expectations, this would be the perfect opportunity.

Sure about that, Sark? Because most folks are expecting at the very least a CFP semifinal appearance this season.

Arch Manning is ready for the spotlight, again

Compared to last year's meeting with the media in Atlanta, this was obviously a different quarterback, with what seems like an urge to prove the doubters from last season wrong.

"No, there's nothing you can do. Everybody has an opinion and gets paid to talk in the media," Manning mentioned when asked about the 'bust' narrative last season. "I'm trying to control the controllables. But, it probably lights a little fire in me, and continue to try and prove myself one week at a time."

Knowing his background, Arch will do everything in his power to prove some of those who doubted him wrong. But, he's not doing it for anyone outside of that Texas locker room.

What we saw on Thursday was a young man who has grown over the past two years. Even if that did not meet the timeline for some, Arch has the character and purpose to make sure he is at least giving the Longhorns everything possible to compete for a national championship this season.

Last year, Manning looked like a quarterback who might have the best media-prep in college football, but understood he was going to need time to develop into the leader, and player, Steve Sarkisian needed him to be in Austin.

Joking about his golf game, finally breaking 80 last week, mentioning that he has taken the time to just enjoy life during the off-season, this is a player who is not getting bent out of shape over the things he cannot control.

"The best Manning golfer? It's probably Peyton, yea," Arch responded with a smile about family golf outings.

He's most certainly grown up over the past year, that's obvious. But, acknowledging his mistakes and outcomes from the previous season is another sign of his maturity.

"Yea, I had a few games like that last year," Arch said about the Florida game last season. "

"We do a good job about not talking about NIL," Arch mentioned. "I don't know how it is at other schools, that's big for us. It's about the players, and not worrying about how much someone makes."

No more excuses for Texas, it's once again time

Right now, Steve Sarkisian can talk about the amount of tough games that await in the 2026 season, but the expectations inside and outside the program are for this Texas team to compete for a championship.

Now, sometimes the conference champion is usually a good indicator of national championship hopes. For Steve Sarkisian, getting past Georgia is a stepping-stone to taking the next step as a program.

I'm not implying one has to win the SEC, or Big Ten and any other conference, to win the CFP.

But, Sarkisian understands that reaching the mountain top means that you probably need to take care of the reigning champion beforehand.

Michael J. Fox says going public with Parkinson's was 'hell' on wife Tracy Pollan

Michael J. Fox is opening up about how going public with his battle with Parkinson's has affected not only him, but his loved ones.

As part of the third annual Social Impact Summit, hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Social Impact Fund ,the 65-year-old actor went into detail about why he chose to go public with his Parkinson's diagnosis, and the toll that decision had, and continues to have on his family, particularly his wife, Tracy Pollan.

"It was hell on Tracy, it was really hard on her — and it still is, because it’s always changing," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "But I said to her, ‘I have to go all the way here. No half measures.’ I started to understand what it was like for these people who didn’t have the options or the choices I had, didn’t have the connections and the reason to be optimistic...I needed to normalize it and just be that all the time. I said, ‘I have to not hide this. F— vanity.’"

The actor was first diagnosed with the degenerative disease in 1991 at the age of 29, keeping his diagnosis a secret for seven years, before going public in 1998 during the third season of his hit show, "Spin City."

After one more season on the show, Fox chose to retire from acting in order to devote his time to advocacy and fundraising for Parkinson's disease. It was then that he founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000, which is dedicated towards finding a cure.

Since its inception, the foundation has generated more than $3 billion in research, which has left Fox and Deborah W. Brooks, Co-Founder and CEO of the foundation, optimistic about where the research is headed.

"Well, it's been the best state for Parkinson's research ever," Brooks said. "And in large part, so much of that progress has taken place in the course of our organization's existence. Not that we're responsible for everything, but we've scaled so significantly and have been able to activate scientists globally. She added: "We have now committed over three billion dollars worth of research worldwide, and so we're working with scientists everywhere, and we work with academics, biotechs and pharma. Our goal is to take aha moments and get them to the drugstore shelf. And so it's been that momentum and particularly a recent breakthrough in how we can detect Parkinson's even before symptoms are the kind of things that tell us. We are onto it, and we are not giving up."

Brooks credits Fox for his "courage and willingness to live his Parkinson's experience in front of the world," calling it "empowering for patients who face similar experiences in reducing stigma."

She also recalled her first board meeting at the foundation, noting it was clear Fox was not one to "just to put his name on something and hope for the best," and that his goal has always been "to do everything it took and get this done and close our doors."

"His purity of motive has been core to helping us think how what we're going to prioritize. It shapes our values in terms of speed. Something like trying to cure diseases, that's not a time-neutral agenda item for people who have degenerative and progressive disease. And so I think, you know, this notion that someone puts their voice out or lends their name, it's always been deeper than that for him. And I see that a lot more in philanthropy in general today, but it has been a game changer. For raising awareness, of course, but it's also been a game changer to put those values to work in our mission to cure Parkinson's disease."

Brooks has seen firsthand how Fox's decision to go public with his diagnosis has helped others, saying she gets emotional thinking about his interactions with other patients, adding, "It is so powerful – an experience to be seen and felt when you share the experience of Parkinson's disease."

While the "Back to the Future" star initially retired from acting in 1998, he returned in his first major on-screen role in 2004 for a guest appearance in "Scrubs," later starring in "The Good Wife," "Boston Legal" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

"It’s really prolonged my life and made my life interesting in a way that I didn’t think it would be to this point," Fox told The Hollywood Reporter. "I’m not retired from acting, but if I didn’t act again, it would be for a very good reason. I let Parkinson’s make decisions for me."

Fox and Brooks received the Philanthropic Organization of the Year award at this year's Social Impact Summit. Other honorees included John Mayer, who received the Philanthropist of the Year Award, and Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry, who received the Philanthropists of the Year Award.

Megan Moroney isn't looking for love.

The country music star said some of the biggest moments of her fast-rising career were derailed by the wrong man. Now, Moroney is choosing to take a break from dating, trading romance for life on tour, time with loved ones and, as she put it, "no man, a dog."

"It’s really nice that this is one of the first tours I’ve been on where I’m not dating anyone, so I literally have no distractions," she told Cosmopolitan. "And that sounds really silly, but there have been a lot of big moments and fun times that have been ruined by a guy for me. It’s nice to just have a clear head."

"I’m learning what I like and what I don’t like and what my goals are," she added. "It’s been cool to be so disciplined with my routines, to see what I’m capable of when everything is going like it’s supposed to."

Moroney's decision to hit pause on dating comes after years of public speculation about her love life. The "6 Months Later" singer has been connected to a handful of high-profile country music names, including Morgan Wallen and Riley Green.

"I was trying to hint at things, and then people would be like, ‘Who is it about?’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna lay it out there. I might as well put his first and last name in it.’ Songwriting is fun, and it’s not meant to be taken so seriously."

Still, Moroney said she's learned not to apologize for writing from raw emotion — even if listeners sometimes read more into it than she intended.

"It’s confidence that has grown over time, but it’s not being ashamed of how you felt. If you think it’s wrong, then okay. But this is how I felt, so here’s the song about it," Moroney said. "I always try to explain to people that I’ve written songs about these big emotions, so they can feel huge in a song. But I could have felt that way really intensely for 10 minutes and wrote a whole song about it. And so in your head, you’re like, ‘Oh, this must be her whole life.’ And it’s like, ‘Well, actually, I was just heated, and I wrote the song.’ Songs can be written from a few minutes of a feeling. So sometimes it’s not that deep. Other times, it is that deep."

Moroney doesn't plan to shy away from documenting love, heartbreak and everything in between through her music. She said the honesty that fuels her songwriting is ultimately what keeps fans coming back.

"When I get scared of putting out a song because it’s too personal, I think about how it might help somebody, because every time I’ve done it and I’ve taken the risk, people have come up to me, and they’re like, ‘This song made me dump this guy’ and ‘This song is making me never want to go back to him,'" she recalled. "It’s just one of those things where you have to be like, ‘F--k it. What’s the worst that could happen?’"

Moroney attended the University of Georgia before moving to Nashville to pursue music full-time.

Teacher who served as GOP state lawmaker allegedly used Roblox to lure student into sexual relationship

A West Virginia teacher and Republican state lawmaker is accused of using the popular online gaming platform Roblox to groom a teenage student before allegedly engaging in sexual acts with her at school, according to a federal affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.

David Elliott Pritt, 36, a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing Fayette County, was arrested this week and federally charged with enticement of a minor.

Prosecutors allege Pritt used interstate communications to persuade, induce or entice the girl to engage in illegal sexual activity and produce child sexual abuse material.

TEACHER ACCUSED OF SEX WITH STUDENTS WAS ALLEGEDLY BLACKMAILED FOR BETTER GRADES: WARRANTS

The investigation began after the girl's family reported the allegations to law enforcement on July 9, according to the affidavit obtained and reviewed by Fox News Digital.

The girl told investigators Pritt first contacted her while she was an eighth-grade student during the 2024-25 school year, when he taught middle school in Fayette County. Their conversations allegedly began on Roblox before moving to the social media app Snapchat.

According to the affidavit, the conversations became increasingly personal, and Pritt eventually told the girl he loved her. During the summer of 2025, Pritt allegedly sent the girl a sexually explicit photograph of himself over Snapchat and requested nude photographs from her. The girl told investigators she complied.

FLORIDA MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY LURED WOMEN WITH DATING APP COULD HAVE MORE VICTIMS: AUTHORITIES

After both moved to the local high school, the girl alleged Pritt repeatedly asked her to meet him in his classroom, where she said she performed sexual acts on him approximately five to 10 times. The final encounter allegedly occurred around December 2025 or January 2026.

According to the affidavit, Pritt continued requesting sexually explicit photographs through July 2026 and urged the girl not to tell anyone about their relationship. Investigators said he warned her police would seize their phones and 'open up hell in our lives.' He also allegedly said the allegations 'would be in the news' before adding, 'I would lose my entire life.'

Federal investigators allege there is probable cause to believe Pritt knowingly used interstate communications between May 2025 and July 2026 to entice the minor to produce child sexual abuse material and engage in sexual activity in violation of West Virginia law.

Pritt has represented Fayette County's District 50 in the West Virginia House of Delegates since 2022. He was elected as a Democrat before switching to the Republican Party in 2023.

REPUBLICAN LAWMAKER WELCOMES HOUSE ETHICS PROBE INTO SEXUAL MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM

State House Speaker Roger Hanshaw called the allegations "shocking, disgusting and disappointing in every way" and removed Pritt from his House roles.

Hanshaw also urged Pritt to resign.

A spokesperson for Hanshaw told Fox News Digital that House leadership has taken the only administrative action currently available by removing Pritt from his House roles and is reviewing the constitutional process for expulsion, which would require the support of two-thirds of elected House members.

"My heart aches for his family, and if any part of these serious allegations are true, the law should be applied in full force," Hanshaw said in a statement.

Fayette County Schools did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Carville tells Democrats to 'just quit fighting' against voter ID requirements, warns it polls at 75%

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville warned Democrats on Thursday that the American public believes they don’t care about voter fraud, and the best thing they can do is stop fighting against voter ID requirements and move on to other issues.

His comments come as Republicans in Congress have been pushing to pass the SAVE Act, which would create a new federal proof of citizenship mandate in the voter registration process and impose requirements for states to keep their rolls clear of ineligible voters, in addition to requiring photo ID to vote in any federal elections.

Carville argued that while he believes there is a negligible amount of voter fraud, refusing to put up photo ID safeguards against it is a terrible hill for Democrats to die on.

"First of all, in Louisiana, you got to show your driver's license to vote," Carville said on "Politics War Room." "I'll have to ask Michael Waldman or Fred Wertheimer, does this really have that much effect? And voter fraud in the United States is an infinitesimal problem. To the extent — I guess you could say it exists, anything could exist. It exists on such a minuscule scale, and it's been proven time and time and time again."

However, he still said the issue cannot be ignored.

"But I don't know if we're not better off saying, ‘Okay, we'll take that alternative idea. Bring your gas bill or your light bill or something,’ because, for whatever reason, this s--- polls at 75%," he said. "It barely exists, and it just doesn't make any sense. Having said that, we are not going to win the war against some kind of ID. It doesn't make any sense. It doesn't fix anything, but maybe you just go along with it and move to the next thing."

His co-host Al Hunt disagreed, however, claiming, "We have voter ID in most states. Most states have voter ID," and that with the Republicans' SAVE Act, they are requiring proof of citizenship, causing hurdles in that many people don’t have passports, many people have difficulty tracking down their birth certificate. And many women will run into difficulties if they changed their surnames when they got married."

"Again, if we have it, just say, ‘Okay, pass the law,’" Carville said of requiring voter ID. "I never had a problem with it. I’m just saying, of all the things — if every poll shows 75% or better say we should have some kind of ID to vote, some say — I don’t know what it is — but s---, just quit fighting, go along with it, and move to the next thing."

"Wait a minute," Hunt said. "Let me ask you, what are you going along with? With what?"

"Whatever the law in Louisiana is. Make it the national law," Carville suggested. Hunt replied that he would probably have no issue with that, but Carville made it clear that he is not in favor of the SAVE Act.

"I'm not talking about the SAVE Act. I'm not talking about the SAVE Act at all. I'm saying just adapt that. But somehow or another, it comes across that we don't want to check the eligibility of a voter," Carville warned.

He argued that voter fraud doesn’t make much sense because it’s risking a hefty punishment for individual votes but suggested that the sooner this is resolved, the better.

USA Today columnist Nancy Armour wants Caitlin Clark to stop flopping and berating WNBA officials.

Plenty of people agree with that take, including OutKick's Dan Dakich.

Others would argue that Clark’s frustration is understandable, given the physical treatment she has received and the WNBA’s inconsistent officiating. Either way, Armour is well within her rights to criticize Clark’s behavior on the court.

But Armour’s latest column goes much further than that. Much, much further.

Armour argues that Clark’s reactions to missed calls put "Black" and "queer" WNBA players "in danger," essentially blaming Clark for alleged racist messages sent by people she doesn’t know and has publicly condemned.

No, this is not satire.

But Armour didn’t stop at claiming Clark’s behavior puts Black and queer WNBA players in danger.

She invoked Emmett Till.

Yes, Emmett Till, the 14-year-old Black boy who was abducted, tortured and lynched in Mississippi in 1955 after a White woman accused him of making an advance toward her.

To reach that preposterous comparison, Armour recast Clark’s complaints about disputed foul calls as part of a much darker historical pattern: white women portraying Black people as threatening and placing them in danger.

That's the insane premise Armour asks readers to accept.

The column begins by declaring that Clark and her "enablers must take the rest of us for idiots." Armour points to two recent plays, one involving Chelsea Gray and another involving Kiah Stokes, as proof that Clark exaggerates contact and creates false narratives about opposing players.

As far as the Gray play, Armour and others have pointed out that Clark didn't go to the floor until after the whistle, suggesting that she was pretending to be hurt.

But anyone who understands sports beyond using them as a vehicle for political commentary knows that athletes routinely play through pain while the action is still live, then react once the whistle blows. Clark waiting until the play ended before going down doesn't prove that she faked an injury.

The second play shows that this column isn't really about whether Clark flops. Armour is using disputed basketball plays to push a left-wing narrative about "Black and queer" women in the WNBA.

Armour claims video disproves Clark’s injury

During Indiana’s July 15 loss to Golden State, Clark drove to the basket and Stokes collided with her. Clark made the layup, fell to the floor and got up limping. She then charged toward an official to complain about the no-call before briefly going to the locker room.

Clark later said Stokes kneed her in the quad and that she played the remainder of the game with a contusion.

Armour puts "contusion" in quotation marks and says the replay showed minimal contact.

The slow-motion video shows Stokes’ knee hitting Clark in the exact area Clark identified. While the contact didn't appear to be malicious, like some of the contact Clark has endured during her WNBA career, it still clearly happened.

That doesn't necessarily mean officials missed a foul. Clark initiated some of the contact while driving to the basket, and reasonable people can disagree about whether the play deserved a whistle. Personally, I thought the contact was incidental and didn't deserve a foul call.

But there is a major difference between arguing that the contact was not a foul and suggesting Clark fabricated or exaggerated the injury.

Armour didn't examine Clark. She's certainly not a doctor or a trainer. She watched a replay and decided that Clark couldn't have suffered a contusion.

That's quite a medical diagnosis from someone with no medical training who never evaluated the patient.

It also weakens the entire premise of Armour’s column. Her argument depends on Clark falsely portraying "Black" and "queer" opponents as aggressors. Yet neither example she cites proves anything.

After the Fever’s victory over Las Vegas, Gray shared a direct message in which a man used a racial slur against her. Social media users identified the sender, and Hilton Grand Vacations later fired him.

Armour uses that message as evidence that Clark’s behavior puts Black and queer WNBA players in danger.

But what does Clark actually have to do with it?

Armour offers no evidence that Clark knew the sender, communicated with him or encouraged anyone to contact Gray. There's also no evidence that the man is even a fan of Clark or the Indiana Fever.

Maybe he was a Clark fan, maybe he wasn't. Maybe he was a sports bettor angry about a lost bet. Maybe he wasn't. The point is that Armour doesn’t know, and neither do we.

But she was quick to take a social media message sent by a stranger, assume it was motivated by Clark’s reaction to a foul call and then hold Clark responsible for it, with zero evidence.

And this isn’t the first time Armour has worked backward to make Clark the problem.

After DiJonai Carrington poked Clark in the eye during the 2024 playoffs, leaving Clark with a black eye, Armour wrote that Clark needed to "call out the toxic segment of her fan base." Both Clark and Carrington said the contact was not intentional, but Clark was the player left with a black eye. Yet Armour decided Carrington was the victim and Clark was the perpetrator.

What Nancy Armour didn’t write about

Now, let's contrast those incidents with what Armour didn't feel the need to write a column about.

Last month, Alyssa Thomas drove her fist to Clark’s throat during a game between the Fever and Mercury. Officials didn’t call a foul, but the WNBA reviewed the play afterward, assessed Thomas a Flagrant 2 and suspended her for one game for "recklessly making contact" with Clark’s throat area.

Armour doesn't appear to have written a single word about that, at least not that I could find.

There was no demand from Armour that Thomas consider the wider consequences of her behavior. No lecture about how her actions might inflame an already toxic situation involving the league’s most visible player.

But a troll sent Gray a nasty message after a different game, and Armour suddenly had enough concern about player safety to write an entire column blaming Clark.

There are people who treat words on the internet as equal to physical violence, if not worse. Armour’s coverage certainly suggests she belongs in that group. Thomas struck Clark in the throat. Stokes kneed Clark in the quad. Carrington poked Clark in the eye. Chennedy Carter hip-checked Clark when her back was turned. The list goes on.

Yet, Armour casts Clark as the dangerous person.

Clark is the one constantly subjected to excessive physicality from other WNBA players, and Armour still finds a way to make the aftermath her responsibility. When someone else receives an ugly message online, Clark gets blamed for that, too.

No matter what happens, Armour arrives at the same conclusion: Caitlin Clark is the problem.

And her argument becomes even harder to defend when considering what Clark has already said.

In June 2024, Clark told people not to use her name to push racist or misogynistic agendas, calling it "disappointing" and "not acceptable."

She later went through the required ritual of acknowledging her "White privilege" and crediting Black players with building the WNBA during a Time magazine profile.

Then, earlier this month, Clark opened a media availability with a five-minute statement condemning harassment and hate directed at opponents, teammates and coaches.

"The harassment, the hate, none of that is okay," Clark said. She again told people not to use her name to advance their own agendas.

Apparently, none of that is good enough for Nancy Armour.

But if you think Armour had already taken this argument too far, we’ve got some bad news.

She wasn’t done.

Armour then invoked Emmett Till.

Again, not satire.

"The WNBA's All-Star Game this weekend is in Chicago, Emmett Till's hometown, and a local art gallery is currently hosting an exhibit imagining his life if he hadn't been lynched. While it’s incumbent on the WNBA to do more to protect its players, there also should be an expectation on Clark to recognize the wider consequences of her actions," Armour wrote.

Wow.

By invoking Till, Armour invites readers to connect Clark complaining about disputed foul calls to the history of false accusations by white women leading to violence against Black people.

Clark didn't falsely accuse Gray or Stokes of committing a crime. She certainly didn't ask anyone to harm them.

She complained about the referees during a basketball game.

Not only that, Armour doesn't identify a single incident in which a Black or "queer" WNBA player was physically assaulted by a stranger because of something Caitlin Clark said or did.

Her alleged danger is entirely hypothetical.

Meanwhile, some of the most serious, documented off-court safety incidents in women's basketball have involved Clark, Sophie Cunningham and Paige Bueckers. Men have been arrested and charged with stalking all three players.

Clark's stalker traveled to Indianapolis and sent her hundreds of threatening and sexually explicit messages. Paige Bueckers' stalker flew across the country with an engagement ring and lingerie because he believed he was going to marry her. Earlier this year, another man was charged with stalking Cunningham after allegedly sending threatening messages and delivering a package to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

All three players are White.

Those cases don't prove that only white players face danger. They do show how backwards Armour's argument is. She has no documented example of Clark's behavior causing someone to physically attack a Black or "queer" player, yet she invokes Emmett Till while portraying Clark as a threat to their safety.

The actual arrests tell a very different story.

But Armour isn't following the evidence. She's forcing Clark into a racial and political narrative that has little to do with what actually happens on the court.

That is exactly what NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently criticized when he said it was "incredibly unfair" that Clark had become a political football when she simply wants to focus on basketball.

Armour’s column proves his point.

A discussion about Clark flopping and mistreating officials turns into an argument about white nationalism, American racial violence, queer identity and Emmett Till. Talk about hitting every left-wing talking point and even throwing in a few extras.

Then her entire column requires readers to ignore video evidence, ignore Clark’s words and accept that a professional athlete is responsible for racist strangers she has never met and has publicly condemned.

Who is taking whom for an idiot?

Armour later released an apology on her social media.

"In my recent column, I made an inartful comparison with the murder of Emmett Till. I intended to connect the issues the WNBA is currently facing with its All-Star Game being hosted in Till’s hometown of Chicago," she wrote on BlueSky. "I obviously did not provide enough context for that.

"However, this point stands: There is a history in this country of perceived threats to white women being weaponized against African-Americans, and the danger that poses to Black players in the league.

"Players have been abused online and have reported receiving death threats. That has to be taken more seriously. I sincerely regret that my lack of appropriate context is overshadowing that important conversation and the action that needs to be taken by the WNBA to address it directly – for the benefit of ALL players."

Welcome to our 32-team 2026 NFL Season Preview Series! As we count down to kickoff, we’re breaking down every franchise division-by-division. Today, we’re spotlighting the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South. Each preview analyzes the team’s offseason moves, coaching staff, projected strengths and weaknesses, schedule, win total and best futures bet.

Atlanta missed the playoffs in 2025-26 for an eighth consecutive season and fired now-former head coach Raheem Morris afterward. The Falcons finished 8-9 and went Under their regular-season win total for a third straight season. This franchise hasn't rebounded since the end of the Matt Ryan Era.

Hiring two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski to replace Morris is a step in the right direction. But Atlanta made only minimal upgrades to its roster this offseason, ranking 24th in free-agent spending.

DRAKE LONDON SIGNS $141M DEAL WITH FALCONS, BECOMING THIRD HIGHEST-PAID RECEIVER IN NFL: REPORTS

The Falcons finished below .500 last season despite playing the fourth-easiest schedule in the league. This season, Atlanta is projected to play the 20th-easiest schedule. That's just one of the reasons I expect the Falcons to struggle in 2026-27.

Kevin Stefanski Inherits Some Legitimate Offensive Talent

For the record, I’m a "Stefanski Guy."

Plus, the NFC South is the softest division in the NFL, and the Falcons have an above-average offensive line, ranked 13th by ESPN’s Mike Clay. They also have a solid core of game-breakers, such as RB Bijan Robinson, WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts.

But the NFL is a quarterback-driven league, and Atlanta has a sketchy quarterback situation.

The Falcons took a flyer on the brittle Tua Tagovailoa as an insurance policy for unproven third-year QB Michael Penix Jr., who is just as injury-prone, if not more so, and is coming off a season-ending injury.

Pro Football Focus ranked Penix 35th out of 38 quarterbacks last season and Tagovailoa 32nd. Since Stefanski wasn’t in Atlanta when Penix was drafted and has no allegiance to him, I’m assuming Tua wins the starting job.

Given Stefanski's and Tagovailoa's track records, I wouldn't rule out the Falcons surprising to the good this season. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Atlanta’s Defense Could Take A Step Back

The Falcons’ defense was their best unit last season. However, defense isn’t as predictive as offense, and Atlanta will be playing a tougher schedule this year.

Stefanski did retain defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, which provides some continuity. Unfortunately, the Falcons lost their leading tackler from last season, LB Kaden Ellis, to the New Orleans Saints in free agency.

They could also be without their leading sack-getter, pass-rusher James Pearce Jr., who is being investigated for battery and stalking. Unless those charges are dropped, Pearce will most likely be suspended for the first part of the season.

Whether it’s natural variance or a tougher slate of opposing offenses, Atlanta’s offense will have to do more to support its defense this season.

I’m not counting on that happening.

The Falcons’ Schedule Doesn’t Offer Many Easy Wins

For argument’s sake, let’s say the Falcons sweep their three home division games. That’s already a friendly projection because I’m expecting improvement from every other NFC South team.

After those three wins, I’m giving Atlanta only one more victory: at the Cleveland Browns in Week 14.

That game carries an obvious revenge angle for Stefanski, who will be coaching against his former employer. Still, it’s no gimme.

The Falcons are a dome team, and it’s going to be brick cold in Cleveland when they face the Browns in the middle of December.

Best Bet: Falcons Under 5.5 Wins

My favorite look for the 2026 Atlanta Falcons is UNDER 5.5 alternate wins (+180) at DraftKings.

Atlanta to finish last in the NFC South at +160 was another option, but as I’ll discuss in a separate article, there is a wide range of possible outcomes for the 2026 New Orleans Saints.

Six-figure private security bill for top Dem Senate hopeful fuels GOP hypocrisy claims

FIRST ON FOX: Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper’s Senate campaign spent more than $250K on private security, federal records reviewed by Fox News Digital show, giving Republicans a new line of attack as they accuse the Democratic Senate hopeful of backing policies that make North Carolinians feel less safe.

Federal Election Commission records show Cooper’s campaign spent $277,312.28 on security-related payments during the 2026 election cycle thus far, with the money going to two vendors: Foresight Solutions and Frontpoint. Foresight Solutions describes its work as including customized security assessments, workplace safety training, de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution and workplace violence prevention. Frontpoint markets home-security systems designed to protect homes and families.

The spending comes as Cooper faces GOP attacks over his record on policing, criminal justice reform, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cooperation and COVID-19-era inmate releases during his time as governor.

Republicans also have invoked the killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte light rail train, arguing Cooper’s criminal justice posture — including a racial equity task force that backed changes to cash bail — reflects a broader soft-on-crime record.

Republican strategist Mark Bednar, who was a communications director for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and current Transportation Secretary and former Congressman Sean Duffy, ripped Cooper's "blatant hypocrisy" in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"The issue on voters' minds isn't whether Roy Cooper or any other Democrat deems it necessary to keep themselves safe, but the issue is when he and other Democrats prioritize their own security while trying to hide from voters' their soft-on-crime records that threaten local communities," Bednar said.

"As Governor, Roy Cooper agreed to release thousands of criminals early, many of whom went on to commit more crimes, and he fought tooth and nail to prevent local law enforcement working with immigration enforcement officials," he continued. "In an election year that's going to come down to the wire, blatant hypocrisy like this is going to stick out to voters."

However, a Cooper campaign spokesperson pushed back on the criticism, defending the former governor's public-safety record and accusing his Republican opponent in the upcoming general election, Michael Whatley, of hypocrisy.

"While Roy spent his career putting rapists and violent criminals behind bars and signing tough on crime, stricter bail and pretrial release laws as governor, Michael Whatley spent his (career) appointing a convicted child sex predator who served time in prison to a powerful position within the North Carolina Republican Party and pushing to release prisoners during the pandemic," the spokesperson said, referring to Whatley's appointment of Harvey Lee West.

West pleaded guilty in 2000 to five counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and later served on the North Carolina GOP’s Plan of Organization Committee, which helps set party rules, according to PolitiFact.

The Cooper campaign suggested Republicans have been distorting Cooper’s record on COVID-era inmate releases, pointing to past statements from the North Carolina GOP under Whatley that criticized Cooper for not doing more to address COVID-19 inside prisons.

Cooper’s campaign also pointed to the former governor's 16 years as North Carolina attorney general, where he served as the state’s top law enforcement official, and legislation he signed as governor that made it easier to go after drug dealers, gave judges discretion to keep violent offenders behind bars ahead of trial, and provided raises to law enforcement.

A Whatley spokesperson clapped back at Cooper's claims when asked for a response, arguing the former governor has a long record of mismanaging significant challenges.

"Roy Cooper has blood on his hands. He chose to release thousands of convicted criminals back onto North Carolina’s streets instead of fighting in court like Democrat governors in Colorado and Illinois," Whatley spokesperson DJ Griffin told Fox News Digital in response to Cooper's attack. "The consequences have been devastating."

Smithsonian pushed ‘revolting’ social action training after ‘whiteness’ chart apology: expert

Smithsonian staff played a pivotal role in developing what one expert referred to as a "revolting" DEI training guide despite the taxpayer-funded institution previously walking back and apologizing for a similar chart on "whiteness," a series of House hearings this week revealed.

Mike Gonzalez, a DEI and identity politics expert at the Heritage Foundation, testified that years after the Smithsonian apologized for its controversial "whiteness" chart, the National Museum of American History continued advancing similar concepts through a training guide known as the "Museums as Sites for Social Action" (MASS) toolkit. Similar to the chart, Gonzalez said the toolkit describes objectivity, individualism, perfectionism and several other concepts as characteristics of white supremacy.

In addition to staff members co-authoring the toolkit, Gonzalez said that for years museum leadership kept "indoctrinating staff" by holding staff reading groups to study its materials.

"[The] museum kept surreptitiously indoctrinating staff with this trash for three years after the museum apologized for using it, which shows the promises of reform are written in sand," he said in one of the hearings this week. "This is their own words, the leadership of the Smithsonian says constantly that it wants to use the museum to transform America, for societal transformation. They see history itself as a tool, an instrument to change society."

In 2020, the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture removed and apologized for a chart that described "objective, rational linear thinking" as an aspect of "whiteness" or "white dominant culture," saying, "We erred in including the chart. We have removed it, and we apologize," the Miami Herald reported.

In a viral moment from one of the hearings this week, Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, confronted Smithsonian National Museum of American History Director Anthea Hartig about a passage in the "Museums as Sites for Social Action" (MASS Action) toolkit used by the museum that asserts objectivity is part of white supremacy. In response, Hartig said the museum did not develop the toolkit and asserted "we’re not promoting any ideology."

Gonzalez, however, pointed out that the toolkit was co-authored by half a dozen current and former Smithsonian employees, including an NMAH employee, and references Smithsonian materials.

"This is what Marxists do. I think that people who want to truly transform the country, seize the cultural institutions in order to mold how people think," he said.

"But wait, there’s more," said Gonzalez.

He pointed to a 2022 "Excellence in DEAI Report" co-authored by Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch that praises the MASS Action toolkit as a good resource for the dissemination of formal DEI training.

The report states that "one major aspect of the work that takes time is shifting leaders and museum professionals away from white-dominant characteristics of perfection, risk aversion, and conflict avoidance to move toward action."

Addressing the lawmakers present during the hearing, Gonzalez said, "Does anyone in this committee believe that perfection is a white characteristic? The man who runs the museum apparently does."

"Lonnie Bunch himself agrees with this racist nonsense," he charged.

"Once again, I call on Congress to do its duty and take back the Smithsonian from a rogue leadership that now uses it as their own plaything for dangerous ideological games," he continued. "This Insanity has gone on long enough."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of American History for comment.

French modeling scout linked to Jeffrey Epstein found dead in Paris apartment

A French modeling scout with ties to Jeffrey Epstein was found dead inside his Paris apartment, prosecutors said.

The body of Daniel Siad, 69, was discovered Monday night, and an autopsy is pending. Siad's attorney, Menya Arab-Tigrine, told Fox News Digital that he died from a heart attack.

"While he died of a heart attack, the unbearable waiting, the stigma cast upon him—and, by extension, his loved ones—as well as the daily pressure and anxiety he endured, undoubtedly played a role," she said. "We must await the autopsy results to determine whether his body simply gave out."

Fox News Digital has reached out to French prosecutors.

Siad's name appeared around 2,000 times in the Epstein files released by the Justice Department, Reuters reported.

"I am looking to place her here and Paris," he added.

At least 24 women have come forward as victims or witnesses of alleged acts committed by Siad or others following the February launch of a human trafficking and fraud probe, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau told Reuters.

Investigators looked into Siad, but there wasn't enough evidence to justify his immediate arrest, said Arab-Tigrine.

But it will not be easy to oust Congresswoman Dina Titus, an 8-term veteran, with strong ties to organized labor, the tourism industry, and the business community.

Recently, Buck sat down with Fox News Digital at Freedom Fest in Las Vegas, to discuss her swing district appeal, her background as a teacher and principal, and why she believes her take on kitchen table economics will enable her to pull off an upset come election day.

First and foremost, Buck is no stranger to challenging Democrats on their own turf:

"Well, in 2020, I flipped a blue district to Republican, and it represents 20% of this [NV-1] district. So, I know I can flip the entire district. People are just tired of my Democrat opponent, and they're ready for change."

Buck cites her three decades of experience in the Nevada education system as critical to understanding the electorate:

"Well, the past 30 years, I've served in the school system here in Nevada. I was a teacher…I taught adult ESL, I taught children for years. Then I became a principal of one of the lowest performing schools in the state and moved it to a national Title I school. I won the Milken Award in that time.

"And so I've been breathing life into children and families for years. When I knock on doors, when I'm out in the community, people are like, ‘Dr. Buck, you were my principal.’ And so, I think a lot of people know that I'm going to really deliver for Nevadans in DC."

Housing affordability is a signature issue for Buck.

She pledges to "ensure that Nevadans have access to lower-cost housing" while also "driving down interest rates so that people can buy whatever house that they want to."

Buck also argues that the immigration crisis during the Biden administration was a key driver on the housing affordability issue:

"I think also what impacted housing is the immigration policies of the Biden years, where they allowed all these people into our country and that drove up [the cost of] all of our low-income housing.

"It depleted it. And so now that we're seeing people end up getting deported and going back to their original country, I know that it's definitely driving down prices here."

Buck promises that taking a hard line on the national debt will be a top priority:

"Spending is definitely out of control when we look at the waste of taxpayer dollars, waste, fraud and abuse. When we've seen some of these cases from across the nation, it really is a red alert. We need to make sure that we root that out.

"I just actually saw the vice president is heading up this task force, and they're finding lots of fraud…We can't just release taxpayer dollars. So reining in the waste, fraud and abuse and making sure that [government spending] goes to the seniors and the children and the veterans who need it."

Buck is a strong supporter of pathways to citizenship for immigrants, but also maintains a hard line on issues of border security and illegal immigration:

"There is a pathway to citizenship, and I think we need to get people signed up. I've been part of a movement to ensure that people have access to get citizenship. And that's the way, the legal way.

"But coming here illegally, you are breaking laws. Those people need to be deported. We've seen so many victims of crimes by illegal immigrants, and that has to stop. We need to make sure that we have safe communities. I'm a wife of a law enforcement officer and know how important our safe communities and our men and women are working out there in law enforcement."

Water issues remain an enormous concern west of the Mississippi, and particularly in Nevada. Buck argues that California could and should play a large role in ensuring Nevadans access to water:

"For too long, Nevada has been the conservationist…Our citizens conserve so much water…All it would take is California to build a basin and hold their rainwater and not release it into the Pacific.

Former special counsel Jack Smith’s team obtained and reviewed the contents of text messages exchanged between Trump White House officials and 44 current and former members of Congress, according to Justice Department records released by two Republican-led Senate committees.

The messages were contained in White House records subpoenaed from the National Archives covering Oct. 1, 2020, through Jan. 20, 2021. The Justice Department said Smith’s investigative team "apparently bypassed" a filter team established to screen potentially privileged material before investigators accessed it.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Wednesday issued a criminal referral for Smith, arguing that he misled Congress when he stated that he did not obtain or review lawmakers' text messages while carrying out his probes into President Donald Trump. The referral functions as an invitation for the Justice Department to launch an investigation into Smith's conduct.

Grassley and Johnson, through their senior committee positions, were responsible for the release of the new documents.

Several lawmakers on the list had publicly documented roles in efforts surrounding the 2020 election, including those who have since condemned Smith’s review of their communications.

Sen. Chuck Grassley

As president pro tempore of the Senate, Grassley played a procedural role on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress moved to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. The senator, for instance, called the Senate into session before senators moved to the House's chamber to participate in a joint session where the results of each state would be certified.

Prior to Jan. 6, Grassley suggested that he may preside over the Senate’s debate surrounding disputes over the 2020 election if Vice President Mike Pence didn’t show up.

"Jack Smith’s criminal investigation of President Trump was a runaway train that had no brakes," Grassley said of his messages being collected. "Based on the information that’s been produced to me and Senator Johnson, Biden DOJ and FBI investigators apparently ignored their own routine investigative protocols to obtain and review work-related messages from me and dozens of my Republican and Democrat colleagues who were outside the scope of the government’s investigation."

Sen. Ron Johnson

In the lead-up to Jan. 6, Johnson joined a group of Republican senators calling for an emergency 10-day audit of disputed election results and saying they would vote against certifying electors from contested states unless such a review occurred.

Documents released by the House Jan. 6 committee in early 2023 reported that Johnson was communicating with former chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party about a plan to have the state’s GOP-controlled legislature choose its presidential electors. The senator responded that he had no recollection of the conversation and accused the committee of trying to smear him.

Republicans were intensely critical of the House Jan. 6 committee, arguing that it lacked a meaningful voice for the opposition seeing as then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., selected every member while rejecting the nominations put forward by McCarthy. They also argued that the committee focused too little on security and intelligence failures ahead of the breach of the Capitol.

"This is yet another grotesque example of the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department," Johnson said of the seized text messages. "Jack Smith’s team acted with impunity as they disregarded their own protocols to obtain and access White House text messages, including messages to and from 44 Members of Congress. This is precisely why Chairman Grassley and I have worked to uncover the truth, bring transparency to the American people, and hold accountable those who weaponized federal law enforcement."

Sen. Lindsey Graham

In the days after the 2020 election, Graham urged Trump not to concede. He later donated to Trump’s legal defense fund and, as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, opened inquiries into election procedures in several battleground states and contacted state election officials.

The late South Carolina senator grew frustrated with Trump and his followers as their objections continued to fail in court and fully broke with the movement following the riot on Jan. 6.

"Count me out," he said at the time. "Enough is enough."

Sen. Josh Hawley

Hawley is notable in that he, on Dec. 30, 2020, became the first senator to announce his intention to formally object to Electoral College votes during the certification process. His decision was consequential as federal law required objections from both a representative and a senator to force a debate on the election.

Trump attempted to call Hawley six times ahead of the Jan. 6 breach, according to White House call logs obtained by the House Jan. 6 select committee, showing that there was a line of communication between the two.

Though some senators abandoned their objections to the 2020 election after the Capitol was breached, Hawley maintained his objections and voted against certifying the results from Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Hawley called the documents released by Grassley and Johnson "more evidence of Biden corruption" adding that, "Jack Smith illegally scooped up the text messages of Senators — including mine."

Sen. Mike Lee

Text messages turned over by former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to the House Jan. 6 committee show that Lee discussed possible legal and constitutional avenues for challenging the 2020 election results.

Lee initially told Meadows that he supported exhausting every available legal and constitutional remedy to address concerns about the election. By Jan. 3, 2021, however, he warned that the effort "could all backfire badly," according to text messages Meadows turned over to the House Jan. 6 committee.

The senator ultimately voted against sustaining objections to Arizona’s and Pennsylvania's election results.

Mike Lee slammed Smith's collection of text messages this month as "un-American" and argued that it came "uncomfortably close to spying on a coequal, coordinate branch."

Rep. Steve Scalise

Scalise, as House Republican whip, was responsible for convincing representatives to vote in line with the party’s interests, providing a straightforward reason as to why White House staff may have been in contact with him.

Further, a publicly released deposition shows that a Scalise aide communicated with Pence’s legislative-affairs director regarding a Jan. 3 call organized by Jordan involving Trump, Meadows and members pressing certification objections.

The Louisiana congressman called congressional action the "only remaining recourse" for addressing what he described as improper changes to election laws in several states.

While he condemned rioting, Scalise, like Hawley, ultimately voted to reject Biden’s electoral votes from both Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Rep. Jim Jordan

Jordan participated in efforts to challenge the 2020 election results, including discussions about delaying congressional certification and objecting to electoral votes.

On Jan. 2, the Ohio congressman led a conference call with Trump and other members of Congress to discuss strategies for delaying the Jan. 6 joint session, according to the House Jan. 6 committee’s final report.

Jordan also reportedly had a 10-minute-long call with Trump on the morning of Jan. 6, according to publicly released phone records. After the breach of the Capitol, Jordan condemned the violence but voted to sustain objections to the electoral results in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

"You can’t do that. As Senator Hawley just said, this is a separation of powers issue," Jordan told Fox News host Sean Hannity earlier this month. "There’s a speech or debate clause. It was supposed to be filtered and screened. It wasn’t. It was just given from the National Archives to Jack Smith’s team."

Smith’s attorneys called the criminal referral "meritless" Thursday in a letter previously obtained by Fox News Digital.

"The House Judiciary Committee’s referral to the Department of Justice of our client Jack Smith is based on a spurious claim that Mr. Smith provided false testimony during his eight-hour deposition on December 17, 2025. The referral is made not because Mr. Smith made a false statement—the letter concedes he did not—but because he did not proactively disclose information that was not responsive to a question asked," the lawyer wrote.

"During his testimony, Mr. Smith provided truthful, responsive answers and candidly discussed his work as Special Counsel. This referral reflects a chilling eagerness to weaponize the justice system by attacking a career, nonpartisan public servant who faithfully and fearlessly performed his duties by following the facts and the law."

Two years after making the National League Championship Series, the Mets are on pace to lose 95 games, which would be their most since also losing 95 in 2003. But this season is much more embarrassing than that.

The Mets came into this season overhauling a roster that choked away the best record in the league last summer, which turned in a league—high $329 million payroll.

But it's been all for naught, and the president of the United States has taken notice.

"The Mets have the highest salary in baseball, and they lose all the time," President Donald Trump said to a crowd in Georgia - probably filled with happy Atlanta Braves fans.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, in fact, have the most money committed to their roster, but in terms of the 2026 payrolls, the Mets are tops in the league thanks to the Dodgers' deferrals.

Trump made the comment in praising Braves Development Company CEO Mike Plant, saying the Mets should "maybe steal this guy."

"You don't realize how good he is. There are teams where they never go down. Then you have other teams, they've been rebuilding for years. I don't want to mention teams, because I know all the owners are old friends of mine, I get myself in trouble, but they're always rebuilding. This guy never rebuilds. He just stays at the top. He's amazing," Trump said. "And then he loses the best player. He loses a great first baseman (Freddie Freeman), I would say great first baseman, and they keep going along and they get things for the first baseman. And he was really good, Dodgers got him. Co-pilot becomes sick midair as crew illness reports emerge after overnight layover

At least one British Airways pilot became ill during a flight from India to London after multiple crew members reportedly fell sick following an overnight layover in Hyderabad, India.

The incident took place earlier this week, on British Airways Flight BA276 from Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) to London Heathrow (LHR).

British Airways confirmed to Fox News Digital that one of its pilots became unwell during the flight, but said the aircraft continued safely to its destination and that the safety of the flight was never compromised.

"The welfare of our colleagues is a top priority, and we are reviewing crew accommodation in this location following some isolated reports of sickness," the airline said.

The pilots ate breakfast together in the hotel lounge, according to The Sun — and all of them drank bottled water provided by an outside supplier.

The outlet reported that on the way back to London, the flight's co-pilot was "incapacitated" and had to be put on oxygen.

The outlet also reported that two remaining pilots continued operating the aircraft but reportedly became more ill after landing in the U.K.

Trump endorsement fails to clear GOP field as former governor joins South Carolina Senate race

Former congressman and former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, a GOP critic of President Donald Trump, launched a Senate bid on Thursday as he became the latest high-profile Republican running for the seat of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham and joins a crowded field against Trump's endorsed candidate.

"We’re at a tipping point, and that’s why I’ve decided to run for the U.S. Senate," Sanford said in a launch video. "I’d ask that you look at my record in Congress and as governor in watching out for your family’s future."

Sen. Darline Graham, who was appointed last week to fill the remainder of her late brother's term, announced Monday in an interview on Fox News' "Hannity" that she's running for a full six-year term in the Senate. Graham's announcement came three days after she met with Trump at the White House, and the president gave her his "complete and total endorsement" as he encouraged her to run.

But Trump's backing of the late senator's sister isn't stopping other well-known South Carolina Republicans from jumping into the contest.

Republican Rep. Ralph Norman, who unsuccessfully campaigned this year for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in the race to succeed term-limited South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, announced his intention to run this past weekend.

Two-term GOP Rep. Russell Fry followed on Monday. And businessman Mark Lynch, who lost to Lindsey Graham by nearly 30 points in last month's GOP Senate primary, also announced he'd take another shot at the Republican nomination.

The special Republican Senate primary will be held on Aug. 11. If no candidate tops 50%, a runoff election will be held among the top two voter-getters on Aug. 25.

WHAT DARLINE GRAHAM TOLD FOX NEWS' SEAN HANNITY

Sanford, who served three terms in the U.S. House in the 1990s, won election as South Carolina governor in 2002 and was re-elected four years later. A rising conservative star in the GOP, he grabbed national attention and derailed his political career following an extramarital affair in 2009. But Sanford made a political comeback, winning election to his old seat in Congress in 2012 and served three terms.

He briefly launched a longshot and unsuccessful presidential nomination challenge against Trump in the 2020 primaries.

Known as a fiscally conservative budget hawk, Sanford pointed to the nation's debt as a key motivator behind his decision to launch a Senate campaign.

"Our country is at a financial tipping point, and I can’t sit on the sidelines while Washington adds a trillion dollars to the debt every 100 days," Sanford explained. "I’m worried for our children because for the first time, America is borrowing from the future faster than we’re building it."

Unlike Sanford, Fry and Norman, who are both Trump allies in the House, are highlighting their support for the president.

"South Carolina doesn't need just another senator. It needs President Trump's strongest ally in the United States Senate. Make no mistake: I will be President Trump’s favorite U.S. Senator, and you will have a MAGA fighter you can count on," Fry wrote in a social media post as he announced his Senate run.

Fry described himself as a "MAGA warrior" in an accompanying video, which included pictures of him smiling alongside Trump.

Norman emphasized that he's "running to represent the people of South Carolina in the U.S. Senate because we need a fighter who will stand with President Trump and carry on Lindsey Graham’s legacy!"

And pointing to Trump's top legislative priority, he noted, "I want to get the SAVE America Act passed in the Senate!"

Republican Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Rick Scott of Florida, conservatives and staunch Trump allies in the chamber, both cited Norman's support for Trump's election reform bill as they went against the president and endorsed the congressman. Norman is also being backed by the political arm of the powerful conservative group Turning Point USA.

Norman also landed the backing of Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina. The endorsement by Mace, first reported by Fox News Digital, came after the retiring congresswoman who earlier this year unsuccessfully ran for governor, announced on Monday that she wouldn't run for the Senate.

Besides the president's powerful endorsement, Graham does have the backing of heavy hitters in Congress, including Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who said, "Darline Graham is an excellent senator. She’ll continue to be an excellent senator, and she has my full support."

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., however, is staying out of the race for now.

Thune said that Graham is a "strong candidate," and though she lacked elected experience, he noted she was "very accomplished in her own life."

"She has a right, like everybody else, to get in that race," Thune said.

Backed by Trump's endorsement and enjoying plenty of name recognition thanks to her well-known last name, pundits view Darline Graham as a frontrunner in the three-week sprint to the Republican primary. And the winner of the GOP nomination will be considered the clear favorite against Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the general election in the solidly red southeastern state.

Trump's endorsements aren't infallible, but his track record so far this cycle, albeit a couple of setbacks, is impressive.

Veteran Republican strategist and communicator Ryan Williams noted that "the Trump endorsement is a major boost for any candidacy, but it doesn’t necessarily give you a lock on the seat."

"Senate seats in South Carolina do not come up very often, and politics is all about timing. You’ve got to seize the opportunity when it presents itself," Williams told Fox News Digital. "If you’re an aspiring House member in South Carolina, this is your time to run, regardless of whom the president is supporting."

And Williams, referring to Norman and Fry, noted, "There’s no downside for running. They’re going to run as Trump Republicans, and they’re going to flatter the president on the campaign trail."

That's likely not the case for Sanford, who didn't mention Trump in his social media post or his accompanying campaign launch video.

MS NOW host Jen Psaki worried Wednesday that the Democratic Party was having a hard time breaking through in the current media environment, wondering whether she was partly to blame because President Donald Trump often dominates the news cycle, even on her own show.

Psaki spoke to former ABC News journalist Terry Moran, who said Democrats didn't have the lead one would expect ahead of November's midterm elections, as Trump's approval ratings remain low.

Psaki said enthusiasm was high for Democrats, but the party had a hard time presenting itself as something more than anti-Trump.

"It has taken some time for a lot of the leading Democratic voices to move from just anti-Trump to more than anti-Trump, right? To, ‘We’re not for Trump, but here’s what we’re offering,’" she said.

The MS NOW host said it was hard to decide whom she was going to book outside the Trump-focused news reaction and said, "Maybe that's a mistake."

"So, I think there’s a lot of factors at play here, but a big one is I don’t think the public knows enough about the Democrats’ plans for making their lives better as much as they don’t like Trump," she said.

Moran agreed with Psaki and questioned how journalists should approach the issue.

The fight over President Donald Trump’s SAVE America Act has moved from squabbles within the GOP to the top Senate Republican and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt publicly sniping at one another.

Leavitt suggested Thursday that Trump’s patience was wearing thin with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., over his flagship election security legislation.

"His patience is running out. He wants to see as much of the Save America [Act] passed as possible by the August recess," Leavitt said of the heavy-handed president. "He knows that's what the American people want to see passed.

REPUBLICAN SAYS TRUMP'S TOP ELECTION PRIORITY 'DEAD' IN SENATE AS GOP FRACTURES AHEAD OF MIDTERMS

"And I would just add, you know, the American people … elected overwhelmingly Republicans to lead not just this White House, but also the House and the Senate," she continued. "The House did its job. The Senate needs to do its job, too."

But in the Senate, the political reality looks much different than Leavitt’s assertion that Republicans in the upper chamber weren’t doing enough. Still, Thune has become the dartboard for conservatives, online and at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., to throw their frustrations over the SAVE America Act at.

The SAVE America Act is universally despised by Senate Democrats, who argue it would disenfranchise millions of Americans from voting. Thune would need Democrats to pass the bill, compared to the House, where Republicans can ram through legislation without Democratic help.

TRUMP'S VOTER ID BILL CATCHES UNLIKELY BREAK AS MCCONNELL REMAINS SIDELINED

Further compounding the issue is the fact that not every Republican is on board with the legislation.

And even though House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Trump are hoping that Thune and Republicans can pass a version of the SAVE America Act through the party-line budget reconciliation process, which requires 50 votes to work, there’s no guarantee that the support is there.

"Well, maybe she or somebody else ought to get on the phone and get the votes, right? It's 50 around here," Thune said. "So, instead of, you know, pointing the finger at Republicans, they might think about going after the people who are stopping it on the floor, which is the Democrats. And if there are Republicans that they think are gettable, get on the phone. Let's get them to yes."

In the Senate, Republicans are growing increasingly frustrated with the expectations surrounding the bill that aren’t feasible given the math problem bogging the legislation down in the upper chamber.

Thune is considering using the reconciliation process to keep the government open, too, in the event that Democrats renege in ongoing negotiations to craft a short-term funding deal as the typical government funding process struggles to move forward.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., one of the most vocal opponents of the SAVE America Act, said Republicans should turn to reconciliation to fund the government and that some were "being dishonest to the American people to say that we need SAVE Act passed because there's no way on God's green Earth it can be implemented by the election."

When asked about Leavitt’s comments against Thune, Tillis dug in.

"I have 1,000% confidence in Thune, and anybody in the White House who thinks he's not a good leader isn't qualified for their job," he said.

A new report from ESPN says that Malaysia's Sepang Circuit is in the running to make a return if the series can't schedule a make-up date for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix were both scheduled for April, but the ongoing conflict in the Middle East forced F1 to take both off the calendar, causing a month-long gap in the schedule.

While the race in Saudi Arabia on the Jeddah Corniche Street Circuit has been sidelined entirely this season, the hope was that Bahrain could potentially slot into the weekend of Oct. 4.

According to the report, as tensions in the region are flaring up again, F1 would like to race that weekend. That's because there is now uncertainty around the final two races of the season, which are slated to take place in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Malaysia is one of several circuits reportedly under consideration, and it makes logistical sense. The next race on the schedule after the weekend of Oct. 4 is the following weekend in Singapore.

A senior House Democrat divulged this week that he has not been able to hold a town hall for over a year due to threats from anti-Israel activists.

Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., the lead Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, made the explosive claim in an interview with "Breaking Points" on Tuesday.

"This is my biggest problem with the left," Smith said. "I have been unable to hold a town hall meeting for a year because a bunch of leftists show up and scream at me and don't let anyone else speak.

"You talk about illiberal," he continued. "Having people stand out in front of my house, screaming death threats at me and threatening my wife."

He also recounted attending a hearing at the University of Washington during which pro-Israel speakers were shouted down by far-left activists during a debate on divesting from the Jewish state.

"So, the first three people got up and testified in favor of divesting. [The] fourth person got up and testified against divesting," Smith said in the "Breaking Points" interview. "Two sentences in, [they were] shouted down, screamed at, wouldn't stop.

"I think that whole thing has created a major problem as well," he added. "And we have to be able to have an intellectual discussion."

The Washington Democrat is not the only member of the House Democratic Caucus who has faced harassment from anti-Israel activists.

A New York City coffee chain told Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., in June that he was not welcome at its storefronts over his support for Israel.

Days later, Goldman, who is Jewish, lost re-election to Brad Lander, a Mamdani-backed challenger, who put criticism of the Jewish state at the center of his campaign.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is keeping the door open for a 2028 White House bid after a new poll showed the New York Democrat as the leading choice among prospective Democratic presidential candidates.

She sidestepped Fox News Digital’s question asking if she would like to be the Democratic 2028 nominee.

"I have genuinely not really weighed seriously anything past the midterm elections," Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital when asked if she is interested in a run. "I think that I'm taking in this information just like anybody else."

The progressive House Democrat repeatedly has toyed with the idea of both a presidential bid and a potential Senate bid to run against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., when he is up for re-election in two years.

Insight into the Democratic Party’s top pick for the presidential election in 2028 was released in a University of New Hampshire Granite State Poll Wednesday showing Ocasio-Cortez as voters' frontrunner candidate.

While New Hampshire no longer holds the first official Democratic presidential primary, the state has played an influential role in testing White House hopefuls and remains closely watched for early voter signs.

Ocasio-Cortez dodged giving her own thoughts on the poll that shows strong interest in her to lead the Democrats in the next election cycle.

"You're gonna have to ask a voter about that," Ocasio-Cortez said when asked about the new poll. "I have less insight into it than they do."

The poll projected her ahead of other prospective candidates that are likely to run in 2028, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Gavin Newsom and other prominent party members.

Support for Ocasio-Cortez rose to 22% among likely Democratic voters. Ocasio-Cortez gained seven points since February's survey, placing her one point ahead of Buttigieg and 17 points ahead of Harris.

Both Harris and Newsom lost ground since February’s survey.

Ocasio-Cortez has endorsed many socialists who won in their respective primary elections, beating out incumbents and mainstream Democrats.

Ocasio-Cortez has been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America in previous campaigns. She is largely expected to receive a Democratic Socialists of America endorsement for the 2028 election as infighting has erupted within the organization over its potential pick.

Some Democratic Socialists of America members are advocating announcing an earlier presidential endorsement because the organization usually selects its endorsement at its biennial national convention in summer 2027.

Justice Department sues Colorado over in-state tuition and financial aid for illegal immigrants

The U.S. Department of Justice is suing Colorado over the alleged offering of in-state tuition and financial aid to illegal immigrants attending public colleges and universities, the latest legal challenge over what critics say amounts to discrimination against U.S. citizens.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Colorado federal court, names the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, the state Department of Higher Education and its director, JB Holston, as defendants.

"For three decades, Congress has made clear that Colorado cannot give education benefits to illegal aliens that it does not give to all American citizens," said Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward.

"By granting illegal aliens in-state tuition, Colorado is not only violating federal law but subsidizing education for illegal aliens at taxpayers’ expense.

"Our litigation efforts will not cease until we have fulfilled President [Donald] Trump’s promise that illegal aliens will not obtain preferential treatment over our nation’s own citizens."

Fox News Digital has reached out to both agencies named in the lawsuit for comment, along with the office of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis.

The complaint argues that the Advancing Students for a Stronger Economy Tomorrow (ASSET) Act and related state policies violate a federal statute that prohibits states from offering higher education benefits to illegal immigrants based on their residency unless the same benefits are available to all U.S. citizens.

In an effort to expand access to those benefits, Colorado reduced the high school attendance requirement from three years to one year and removed a requirement that students must be admitted to college within 12 months of graduating from high school, according to the federal complaint.

The state also repealed a requirement that mandated illegal immigrant students submit an affidavit stating they had applied for lawful presence or would apply as soon as they were eligible, the complaint states.

By providing lower tuition rates and state-funded scholarships to local illegal immigrants while denying them to out-of-state citizens, Colorado is accused of creating an unconstitutional preference that is preempted by federal authorities.

The Justice Department also argues that lower tuition incentivizes illegal immigration and rewards breaking the nation's laws.

Thursday's lawsuit marks the 14th launched by the Trump administration challenging in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.

"This Department of Justice is committed to fulfilling President Trump’s promise that illegal aliens will not obtain taxpayer benefits or preferential treatment over our own citizens," the Justice Department said.

The lawsuit asks the court to declare several Colorado state laws associated with the matter unconstitutional and to award court fees.
