Courthouse weddings are booming as many couples skip pricey traditional ceremonies

A number of West Coast couples are reportedly foregoing costly, extravagant weddings these days. Instead, they're favoring simple courthouse ceremonies.

The demand for straightforward civil ceremonies is causing a rush for marriage appointments at municipal buildings in California, the Los Angeles Times recently reported.

"They pretty much get picked up as soon as we release them," Santa Barbara County Clerk Melinda Greene told the publication. "We have people from all over the world."

Slots to get married at California courthouses have been filling up months in advance, while some couples snap up last-minute bookings.

Elopement has turned from "a breezy wedding alternative into a formal contact sport," the same publication reported.

"It books up so fast, you have to be online at the exact time [of day] you plan on having your appointment," Asha Marshall of So Fetch Photography told the Times. "A lot of my brides get stressed out."

Micro-weddings are reportedly on the rise due in part to social media posts inspiring couples to get married at the same venues where celebrities have tied the knot.

Santa Barbara’s Spanish Moorish revival courthouse, for instance, is a sought-after spot where Kamala Harris married Doug Emhoff and where Kourtney Kardashian got hitched to Travis Barker.

"We see dozens a day, starting at 8 o’clock in the morning," Roy Lee, Santa Barbara County supervisor, told the Times.

San Francisco City Hall, where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio were married with great fanfare in 1954, is a top spot for a courthouse wedding, according to the Times. The venue hosts some 7,000 weddings a year.

The trend also coincides with Gen Z — those commonly cited as having been born between 1997 and 2012 — now entering its peak marrying years.

The oldest members of Gen Z are hitting the average marrying age of 28, online wedding-planning and registry company Zola reported, and this generation has become a primary driver of the wedding industry.

"The 2026 wedding season reflects the broader cultural shifts of this generation," Zola reported in its "2026 Wedding Trends: First Look" report, a survey of more than 11,500 couples getting married in 2026.

"Our couples are using TikTok and AI in their everyday lives, embracing both cocktails and mocktails and prioritizing their mental wellness," the report said.

Though cost-friendly and streamlined civil marriage ceremonies are popular in some places, the average cost of a wedding is $36,000, according to Zola — while the average guest count has remained steady at around 145 people, similar to last year.

"Even with economic jitters, we’re seeing couples prioritize the celebration they want over other financial goals," the company reported. "The sentiment is clear: 85% of couples say their wedding will be worth every penny."

Bank of America said in June 2026 that "wedding-related spending grew 8.5% year-over-year so far in 2026 … suggesting that higher prices haven’t completely curbed spending on that special day."

The report also found consumers are spending less on one-time formal wear purchases, while more economical, lab-grown diamonds continue to gain traction.

Rory McIlroy should be the last golfer to criticize others for 'performative' behavior

The Open Championship in 2026 just crowned its Champion Golfer of the Year, a surprising underdog win from Ryan Fox. But two of the most prominent, successful, and accomplished golfers of the tournament keep grabbing headlines: Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau became the center of attention, and the story of the Open, before the event even started. After missing the cut at all three majors heading into Royal Birkdale, commentators Nick Faldo and Brandel Chamblee both went after him for either prioritizing YouTube golf over competition, or in Faldo's case, an apparent lack of "strategy" in attacking links golf.

Sure enough, DeChambeau quickly put himself in contention, including what appeared to be a second-round 66 that moved him to seven under par and within one shot of the second round leader, Lucas Herbert at -8. But after the round had completed, rules officials took him back to the fifth hole after reviewing footage that they believed showed he incorrectly improved the area around his backswing. Despite a lengthy discussion and argument, DeChambeau was addressed a two-shot penalty. And reportedly considered sitting out the remainder of the tournament in protest.

There have been passionate arguments on both sides over the legitimacy of the ruling. Many have said it was justified considering it appears on camera as though DeChambeau steps around the area carelessly, while several players, including Xander Schauffele, have come out in his favor.

Then there's the other side of it, that DeChambeau might have held up the R&A's announcement of tee times for round three while deciding whether to play. That certainly rubbed some players the wrong way, including McIlroy.

"I won’t pretend to be up here and defend Bryson," he told reporters. "I’m not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it is performative. I think a lot of it’s for attention.

"To hold the tournament hostage like that and to have all of us — players, volunteers, everyone — waiting on him to depart, I didn’t feel like it was a great look," McIlroy said.

"I think there’s no doubt that he improved the line of his backswing," he added. "Again, it’s like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don’t think it matters. Hopefully, it was careless, but I think the two-shot penalty was justified, for sure."

It's rare to see a player speak out that, shall we say, aggressively, about another. But McIlroy has increasingly in recent years been more open with his thoughts to the media. Perhaps worn down by years of being one of the most visible and prominent personalities on the PGA Tour, his role in opposing the formation of LIV Golf, starting TGL, or even after winning The Masters, questions about his legacy or years of struggles in major championships. But whatever the cause, McIlroy's answer about DeChambeau summarized who he's become as a public figure.

And it was also a bit hypocritical.

For all his qualities, obviously one of the best golfers of the modern era, someone whose commitment to the PGA Tour helped keep it together as LIV grabbed star after star, and his competitiveness in big events, McIlroy has frequently also demonstrated petulance, immaturity, and in some cases, performative behavior. Which is why he, like DeChambeau, has become a polarizing figure in the golf world.

When he lost the 2024 U.S. Open, to Bryson, after a series of poor holes down the stretch at Pinehurst, McIlroy just...left. He didn't speak to the media, he didn't address fans, or handle the loss with grace and composure, he just...bailed. Then was defensive about it afterward. He didn't speak to the media at all after his four rounds at the PGA Championship in 2025.

In one infamous incident, he grabbed a fan's phone and walked away with it, before returning it later. At the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, it was widely reported that some unruly fans yelled unacceptable things towards him, but instead of handling , McIlroy snapped, screaming obscenities right back. At the 2023 Ryder Cup, he had to be restrained from going after Team USA caddies in the parking lot.

He smashed a tee marker at a US Open, and slammed his driver at the 2026 PGA Championship. He bragged after winning The Masters that he's become almost an honorary member at Augusta National, flying privately up from his home in Florida to practice there each spring. While the PGA Tour looks for ways to increase the number of events featuring top players competing against each other, McIlroy has made no secret of his intention to play as few tournaments as possible because his focus is exclusively on winning majors.

That's the issue with calling out others for perceived personality flaws. He has many of his own. Which is not to say that he's some malignant figure in the golf world, or even that he's necessarily wrong about DeChambeau. But he's had plenty of incidents that others would call performative, or breaching proper conduct, or losing decorum. That's why McIlroy has become such a polarizing figure. He's often willing to criticize others, even though his own career has featured plenty of emotional outbursts and controversial moments. That doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong about DeChambeau, but it does make his criticism easier to question.

Is DeChambeau performative at times? Sure; he's made no bones about the fact that he views part of his role as being an entertainer. He is an entertainer, professional sports are an entertainment product. If fans didn't find them entertaining, there'd be no one watching. Does that mean he cheated? No. Would McIlroy have been furious about receiving a penalty in that situation? Almost certainly.

Crazy brawl over a parking spot in New York includes a vicious skateboard to the head

Prime parking spots in New York City are evidently worth fighting a stranger on a sidewalk for. A brawl caught on video in the East Village last Tuesday afternoon shows a driver and a skateboarder doing just that.

The NY Post reports that the skateboarder and a friend were attempting to hold a parking spot for someone when a Mercedes pulled up and tried to park in the "reserved by skateboarder" spot.

The viral video of the incident shows the Mercedes being hit with a skateboard a couple of times before the skater throws his preferred method of transportation at the vehicle.

The driver jumps out, grabs the board and swings it at the skater. That was a mistake. The two men then exchange the types of pillow-soft punches you throw in your worst nightmare.

These two weren't cut out for hand-to-hand combat. Some kicks are thrown in there before the two fall hard to the pavement. The two ignore the pleas of the woman who was with the Mercedes driver and things get worse for him.

The skateboarder gets on top, appears to land at least one weak punch, then lets the driver up. The skater then grabs his board and smashes his opponent in the head with it.

The solid shot to the head, the hardest delivered by either of them, is followed by the skateboarder getting the Mercedes driver in a choke hold.

The witness filming the action decides to walk over to the Mercedes and reveals that the SUV has a smashed windshield.

A spokesman for the NYPD confirmed to The Post that the driver of the Mercedes was trying to park his vehicle in a parking spot prior to the insanity captured on camera.

The skateboarder, who as of Saturday afternoon the police were still looking for, left the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, according to police.

There were no arrests made. Sometimes you do battle on the sidewalk over a parking spot. Sometimes you're arrested. Sometimes you're not.

President Donald Trump was spotted at New York/New Jersey Stadium for the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday.

Trump, standing between first lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, looked on from his suite as the sold-out crowd listened to a beautiful rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" sung by Jennifer Hudson.

Team USA may have been knocked out in the Round of 16 to Belgium, but as one of the three host countries and being where the final took place, Hudson didn’t disappoint as usual.

The crowd of over 80,000 fans cheered as Hudson hit every note, and Trump was shown on the FOX broadcast at the end as applause rained down onto the pitch.

The closing ceremony was more than that, though. British singer-songwriter Robbie Williams was there to perform, while actor Tom Cruise delivered a speech to the crowd about how togetherness and unity has been displayed throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico throughout this month-long tournament.

As the ceremony came to an end, both teams walked onto the pitch in East Rutherford, New Jersey, surely filled with anxious energy and anticipation for what each of them hopes ends in happy celebration instead of tears of defeat.

For Lionel Messi and Argentina, they are hoping to retain their title as the best team in the world after defeating France in Qatar in 2022.

Tom Homan warns ICE surge coming to New York City as Mamdani boasts about sanctuary status

White House border czar Tom Homan warned of an incoming ICE surge in New York City, citing the Trump administration's refusal to be deterred by Mayor Zohran Mamdani's embrace of the Big Apple's sanctuary status.

"It's coming," Homan told the hosts of "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Sunday.

While remaining tight-lipped on further details, Homan clarified his reluctance to elaborate stems from a refusal to show the Trump administration's hand.

"ICE is operating in New York City today. We're operating across the state today, but there's going to be a surge, and there needs to be a surge," he said.

Homan's remarks came after Mamdani expressed "pride" in the city's sanctuary identity and asserted its unwillingness to participate in immigration enforcement during a New York Times interview Saturday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office is accusing New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani of attacking the Jewish state to distract from his record in New York after calling Netanyahu a "war criminal."

The prime minister's office fired back Sunday after the Democratic mayor said his administration was exploring whether it could arrest the Israeli leader during an expected visit to the city under the International Criminal Court's warrant.

"The ICC is a kangaroo court that has no jurisdiction over Americans or Israelis," Netanyahu's office wrote in an X post Sunday, amid recent reports he is nearing a trip to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump.

"Its bogus arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu was issued by a disgraced former ICC Prosecutor, Karim Khan, a few days before allegations of sexual misconduct against him became public," Netanyahu's office said. Mamdani is following the same playbook, the office added.

"Instead of backing Khan's criminal behaviour, Mr. Mamdani should focus on fixing the damage his policies have caused New York," the post concluded. "Like Karim Khan, Mamdani appears interested in diverting public attention from his follies and attacking the leader of the Jewish state and the only democracy in the Middle East."

Israel vowed to ignore the ICC warrant while it roots Hamas, "a genocidal terrorist organization ," out of Gaza.

"Under Prime Minister Netanyahu's leadership, Israel has taken unprecedented wartime measures to minimize harm to civilians while confronting Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization that uses Palestinians as human shields and deliberately targets innocent Israeli civilians," the office's post read.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News' "Fox & Friends Weekend" earlier Sunday that Mamdani is ostensibly hyperbolizing for "political theater."

"This is a communist, antisemitic mayor trying to make news for his own audience," Pompeo said. "There's nothing more than that. This is no chance he's going to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu when he comes to New York in September for the U.N. General Assembly.

"It's just simply not going to happen, and he knows it."

Even some Democrats have rejected Mamdani's stance, warning it could embolden terrorists at home and abroad.

"This isn’t a college protest," former Democrat Mayor Eric Adams wrote on X. "This is the City of New York."

"Threatening to arrest the democratically elected leader of one of America’s closest allies during U.N. General Assembly week isn’t bold. It’s reckless," Adams continued. "American diplomats, service members, and officials are stationed in dangerous places around the world. Irresponsible rhetoric like this doesn’t stay in New York. It can put Americans at greater risk abroad. Leadership means understanding that your words have consequences. Reckless political theater can have very real-world costs."

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has long broken with Democrats on becoming the "anti-Israel party," telling the "clown" Mamdani to "sit down."

"It's such a tough guy to say that kind of thing," Fetterman told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." "He has no way to do that, of course. Obviously, America is not even part of that corrupt court. A basic sweepstakes entry may ask for your name, email address and phone number. Some promotional forms request far more, including your age range, household income, health interests, medications or magazine subscriptions. Those extra questions can have marketing value even when they have little connection to selecting a winner.

The Federal Trade Commission has found that data brokers collect information from online and offline sources, including purchases, magazine subscriptions, income data and other personal details. Brokers can combine those records into profiles that help marketers predict what may capture your attention.

Before entering, ask yourself whether the sponsor truly needs each answer. The more information you provide, the more detailed the resulting profile can become.

How sweepstakes entry data becomes a marketing profile

Responding to a sweepstakes can become a valuable signal. It tells a marketer that a prize—based offer caught your attention and persuaded you to provide personal information. The FTC has warned that sweepstakes promoters may sell entry information to advertisers. That can lead to more targeted advertising, junk mail, telemarketing calls and spam.

Your entry may also be combined with purchase histories, demographic estimates and records collected from other sources. As a result, the profile can reveal far more than the few answers written on the original form. Once you are categorized as someone who responds to sweepstakes, your information may become more valuable to companies promoting similar offers. The danger grows when a poorly controlled list reaches a buyer running a fraudulent campaign.

What the Epsilon fraud case revealed

Epsilon Data Management was one of the world's largest marketing companies. It entered a deferred prosecution agreement with the Justice Department after acknowledging that one of its business units sold consumer lists to mass-mailing fraud schemes. Those operations sent false sweepstakes notices and astrology solicitations. The mailings claimed recipients had won prizes or could receive personalized psychic services after paying a fee. People who paid received nothing of value.

Epsilon agreed to pay $150 million in penalties and victim compensation. Of that amount, $127.5 million was designated for people harmed by fraud schemes that used Epsilon data. Many of the people targeted were older adults. The case continued beyond the company settlement. A jury later convicted a former Epsilon executive and sales manager of conspiracy, mail fraud and wire fraud.

The Justice Department said the defendants sold targeted lists to fraudsters who used them to identify people likely to respond to deceptive mailings. The case documents a specific abuse of targeted marketing data rather than a universal path for every sweepstakes entry. Still, it shows how information collected for marketing can become a road map for fraud when it reaches the wrong buyer.

How sweepstakes entry data can reach scammers

The exact path will vary by promotion. However, one possible chain looks like this:

You enter a sweepstakes and provide your contact information.
The sponsor stores the entry and uses or shares it according to the official rules and privacy policy.
A marketing company combines your answers with information from other sources.
Your record becomes part of a segment based on your interests and response history.
The information passes to additional marketers or data brokers.
In the worst cases, a buyer uses the list to send deceptive prize notices or other targeted scams.

This chain can unfold without a malicious website, infected attachment or stolen password. The starting point may be a paper form sitting inside a familiar store.

Why local sweepstakes can create privacy risks

A mall kiosk or retailer drawing feels safer than a random website because you recognize the location. That familiarity can make the privacy terms easier to overlook. Before entering, look for the official rules and privacy policy. Check whether the sponsor can share your data with affiliates, sponsors or marketing partners.

Also watch for language giving permission to call, email or text you. Once several companies receive the information, tracing every copy becomes difficult. That lack of visibility is one reason a simple contest entry can create a much larger privacy footprint.

How to protect your sweepstakes entry data

A few simple habits can limit the information you hand over, reduce unwanted marketing and help your family recognize a fake prize before money changes hands.

1) Reduce your data broker exposure

You cannot pull back every sweepstakes entry you have already submitted. However, you can reduce the amount of personal information available through data brokers and people-search sites.

Start by searching for your name, phone number, email address and home address online. You may find profiles that reveal your age, relatives, past addresses and other personal details. Many data brokers provide an opt-out process, although removing your information manually can take time and may require repeated requests.

You can also use a reputable data removal service to contact brokers on your behalf and continue submitting removal requests when your information reappears. Before signing up, check how many brokers the service covers, whether it offers ongoing monitoring and whether you can request removals from specific sites.

No service can erase every public record, social media post or privately held database. Still, reducing the number of sites displaying and selling your information can make it harder for marketers and scammers to build a detailed profile about you.

2) Share only what the sweepstakes needs

Provide the minimum information required for a valid entry. Think twice when a form asks about your income, medications, health concerns, shopping habits or other sensitive subjects. Some promotions need your age or date of birth to verify eligibility. However, questions unrelated to the official requirements may serve a marketing purpose.

3) Read the official rules and privacy policy

4) Skip optional marketing consent

Watch for preselected boxes or fine print that gives the sponsor permission to send promotions by email, phone or text. Leave optional marketing boxes unchecked. When consent is required to enter, decide whether the prize feels worth the additional contact and data sharing.

5) Use a separate email address for promotions

Consider creating an alias email address used only for contests, store loyalty programs and promotional offers. This makes follow-up marketing easier to recognize and keeps your primary inbox less exposed. A separate address cannot prevent the sponsor from sharing the information you provide. 6) Never provide financial information to enter

Do not provide a bank account number, credit card number or payment app information on a sweepstakes entry. The Postal Inspection Service advises consumers to avoid any sweepstakes requesting financial information or payment. A legitimate sponsor may need tax information after you have independently verified a major prize. That request should come after the drawing and through a confirmed company contact rather than on the original entry form.

7) Save the rules and sponsor details

Take a photo of a paper entry form or save a screenshot of an online promotion. Keep the official rules, sponsor name and drawing date. When someone later claims you won, compare the message with the original promotion. Contact the sponsor through information you find independently rather than using a phone number or link provided in the prize message.

8) Watch an older relative's mailbox

The Epsilon schemes harmed many older adults and other vulnerable people. Watch for prize letters that feel urgent, personal or unusually persistent. Talk with parents and grandparents before a suspicious letter arrives. Make sure they know to call someone they trust before sending money or personal information. 9) Never pay to claim a prize

Real prizes are free. A demand for taxes, processing costs, shipping fees, gift cards, cryptocurrency or a money transfer signals a scam. Scammers often create urgency, so you have less time to question the story. Slow down and verify the company yourself. Gift card demands deserve special caution. 10) Unsubscribe only from recognized senders

Legitimate marketing emails must provide a way to opt out of future messages. Use the unsubscribe option when you recognize the company and remember signing up. Avoid clicking unsubscribe links inside suspicious messages. A fake link may lead to a phishing page or confirm that your email address remains active. Mark the message as spam and block the sender instead.

11) Report suspicious prize mail

Report suspected prize or sweepstakes scams at the Federal Trade Commission's ReportFraud.ftc.gov. You can file a report even when you spotted the scam before losing money. When the scam involves the U.S. Mail, report it to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at uspis.gov/report. The agency accepts reports involving sweepstakes, lottery and other mail fraud.

Ryan Fox denies Cameron Young, Sam Burns at The Open Championship as American golf takes another hit

Ryan Fox failed to birdie the easiest hole at Royal Birkdale while trying to win The Open Championship. But, when it mattered most, he birdied the hardest hole on the course to capture the Claret Jug.

Tied with clubhouse leader Cameron Young at 9-under, the 39-year-old New Zealander needed a birdie on No. 18 to win the tournament after failing to birdie the par-5 17th hole.

After pounding his drive down the final fairway, Fox hit his approach to just inside 12 feet and then dripped his birdie putt into the edge of the cup to win the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He finished at 10-under, one shot ahead of Young and two clear of 54-hole leader Sam Burns.

But his win might mean more for international golf than anything else.

Entering the final round, everyone at Royal Birkdale was chasing American Sam Burns, who was searching for his first major championship victory.

Burns, at 10-under, led Fox and South Korea's Si Woo Kim by two shots. American Ryan Gerard and Australian Lucas Herbert were three shots back, while big names like Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Åberg sat several shots back but were lurking.

Burns earned that advantage with one of the best two-round stretches in major championship history.

After opening the tournament with a three-over 73, Burns tied the men’s major record with an eight-under 62 on Friday. He followed that with a five-under 65 in the third round, giving him a 127 total over 36 holes, the lowest score across consecutive rounds in men’s major championship history.

And Burns wasn’t alone in going historically low.

Herbert also shot 62 on Friday, while Fox matched the number on Saturday to rocket 50 spots up the leaderboard and earn a spot alongside Burns in Sunday’s final pairing. Three players had tied the major championship scoring record over a span of two days at Royal Birkdale.

Burns also knew better than most how quickly a promising major-championship Sunday could turn into heartbreak.

He held the 54-hole lead at the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont before shooting a final-round 78 and falling into a tie for seventh. One year later, Burns nearly completed a furious Sunday comeback at Shinnecock Hills, but his birdie putt on the 72nd hole stopped inches short and left him one shot behind eventual champion Wyndham Clark.

Now, Burns had another opportunity.

And he initially appeared ready to take control of the tournament.

The 29-year-old American birdied the second hole to reach 11-under and extend his advantage.

Then everything changed.

Burns made three consecutive bogeys at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, coughing up his entire lead in a span of three holes. The player who began Sunday with a two-shot lead suddenly found himself scrambling to remain in contention.

And while Burns stumbled, another American came charging from the middle of the pack.

Cam Young, like Burns, was already familiar with major championship heartbreak. He finished one shot behind Cameron Smith at the 2022 Open Championship despite shooting a final-round 65 and making eagle on the 72nd hole.

Young began the final round seven shots off the lead, seemingly out of contention, but immediately turned himself into a factor with a spectacular front-nine 29. He made four birdies over his first five holes and eventually reached 10-under with another birdie at the 17th.

Then came trouble.

Young drove into a fairway bunker on the final hole and failed to clear its steep face with his second shot. He eventually escaped with a bogey, but still posted an incredible six-under 64 to take the clubhouse lead at nine-under.

But then Ryan Fox came charging.

Fox birdied the 13th and 14th holes to catch Young at nine-under. The New Zealander caught a terrible break with his tee shot at the newly redesigned par-3 15th and couldn’t save par. However, he bounced right back with a birdie at No. 16 to tie Young again.

Young found himself in the unenviable position of sitting around and just waiting to see if his score was good enough.

Fox caught another bad break on the par-5 17th hole. He elected to hit an iron off the tee to avoid the fairway bunkers, but his ball managed to creep into one of those bunkers after rolling out to over 320 yards. He still managed to give himself a good birdie look, but missed to stay tied.

Burns also failed to make birdie on No. 17, the hole that played the easiest during Sunday's final round. That meant that Fox was tied with Young and Burns was one shot back with the hardest hole on the course, the par-4 18th, looming.

Fox made it look anything but difficult, blasting his tee shot down the middle of the fairway before sticking an iron to inside 12 feet and giving himself a birdie putt to win the Open.

Burns played the hole well, too, but not well enough. His approach came to rest just inside 30 feet from the cup and the American couldn't convert, adding another close call to his major championship résumé.

That set the stage for Fox. Make the putt, win The Open. Miss and go to a playoff against Cam Young.

And he buried it to deliver another heartbreak for Young and another heartbreak to American golf.

Because Sunday’s final round was about much more than whether Burns, Young or another contender would walk away with the Claret Jug.

It was also about whether American golf had truly started to take back control of the sport.

Not long ago, that control appeared absolute.

Beginning with Brooks Koepka’s victory at the 2023 PGA Championship, Americans won seven consecutive men’s majors. Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau all followed Koepka during a run that ended with Schauffele completing an American sweep of the 2024 majors at Royal Troon.

Rory McIlroy finally ended the streak with his dramatic breakthrough at the 2025 Masters.

Even then, it hardly felt like the balance of power had changed.

Scheffler won the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. J.J. Spaun captured the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Scheffler then dominated The Open at Royal Portrush.

Americans had won 10 of 11 major championships.

It wasn’t a rivalry at that point. It was domination.

Then the tide turned.

Tommy Fleetwood finally earned his first PGA Tour victory by winning the 2025 Tour Championship and FedEx Cup.

One month later, Europe embarrassed the United States on American soil at the Ryder Cup.

The final score, 15-13, made the competition appear far closer than it actually was. Europe entered Sunday singles with an 11½-4½ advantage and had already reduced the final session to little more than a desperate American attempt to avoid complete humiliation.

Things didn’t improve when the calendar flipped to 2026.

McIlroy successfully defended his Masters title, and England’s Aaron Rai followed with his first major championship victory at the PGA Championship. European golfers had won the first two majors of the year.

Wyndham Clark finally stopped the bleeding by winning his second U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.

An American victory at Royal Birkdale would give U.S. golfers the final two major championships of the season and provide real evidence that the momentum had begun shifting back.

A non-American victory would leave Clark as the only U.S. major champion of 2026, marking the first time since 2014 that Americans won just one of the four men’s majors.

And the latter is what happened when Ryan Fox became just the second New Zealander to win The Open and the third New Zealander to win a men’s major golf championship.

Clark’s U.S. Open victory stands as the only American major championship win of the season, the first time since 2014 that American men failed to win at least two major tournaments.

Europe embarrassed the United States at Bethpage. Fleetwood took the FedEx Cup. European players captured the Masters and PGA Championship. And a non-American ended the season by lifting the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale.

It added up to the roughest major championship season for American golf in 12 years.

And the next Ryder Cup is being played at Adare Manor in Ireland, where the United States will attempt to win on European soil for the first time since 1993.

Based on the past year, there’s little reason to believe that drought is about to end.

"You sit with lots of really smart people and you learn something pretty quickly: The most expensive thing we do in healthcare is give bad quality care," he told Fox News Digital.

That includes everything from preventing disease to encouraging healthy behaviors at home, such as preparing healthy meals.

"The second big thing we've got to do is make sure that every interaction we have in the health system is based on value," Oz said. "We don't just pay a doctor to do something to you, we want to pay a doctor to take care of you."

The doctor said new healthcare technologies are making it easier to deliver high-quality care by "meeting you where you are."

"It's one of the reasons I do want to embrace AI, if used safely and correctly," he said. "As we get better and better with innovative medications, screening techniques and the ability to get people to think differently about their role, their job, when it comes to staying healthy, we're going to prosper as a nation."

According to the CMS administrator, every Medicare patient is issued a free annual wellness exam, but fewer than half of patients take advantage of it.

Those who skip the annual wellness visit often assume they're healthy when underlying problems may go undetected, Oz said, leading to more costly treatments later.

"They’re lying to themselves," he said. "Ignorance is bliss, [but] not in healthcare."

In taking these steps to improve the health of Americans, Oz projected that the country could make major gains in wealth and vitality.

"We can get the average American to feel so vital, so with it, so healthy, that they want to work one more year," he said. "The value to our nation is $1 trillion."

"Think about that: $1 trillion of value to GDP, our nation, all the taxes, all the benefits, the social programs, all the extra revenue to help get our country to go full speed. If only we make our people so healthy they want one extra year."

Oz said most Americans do want to work as they get older, but may start to feel less physically equipped.

Earthquake shakes Peru's Andes region, killing at least 5, displacing hundreds

A powerful earthquake ripped through Peru's Andes region overnight, killing at least five people and leaving hundreds displaced as homes and a church collapsed, with authorities warning Sunday that an unknown number of people remain missing.

The magnitude 5.5 quake struck shortly after 9:20 p.m. Saturday near the city of Sicaya in central Peru, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake injured more than 20 people and forced at least 300 residents from their homes, Peru's National Civil Defense Institute said.

Officials were still trying to account for missing residents Sunday after several buildings collapsed or were left unsafe, including a local church and convent.

Stomach bugs can quickly turn a dream vacation into days spent in a hotel room, but doctors say packing a few key essentials can help keep your summer or fall trip on track.

Gastrointestinal illnesses caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites commonly trigger nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The agency says travelers' diarrhea, usually caused by bacteria, is the most common travel-related illness.

It affects an estimated 30% to 70% of travelers during a two-week trip, depending on the destination and season.

While not every stomach bug can be prevented, doctors say packing a few essentials before you leave can help manage symptoms, prevent dehydration and make it easier to know when it's time to seek medical care.

Before your next trip, the CDC recommends packing the following items:

Oral rehydration salts or electrolyte packets. These help replace fluids and electrolytes lost through diarrhea or vomiting.
An over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medication, such as loperamide, for mild diarrhea. It should not be used alone if diarrhea is accompanied by a fever or bloody stools.
Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol), which may help prevent or relieve travelers' diarrhea in some cases. The medication is not appropriate for everyone, including people with aspirin allergies, certain medical conditions, pregnant women or some children.
Hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. This is for situations in which soap and water aren't available.

Most people recover from common stomach bugs within one to three days without treatment, though dehydration can become serious enough to require medical attention, Chad D. Neilsen, director of Infection Prevention and Control at Nemours Children's Health in Florida, previously told Fox News Digital.

Doctors say smart food choices can also help reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness while traveling.

Bethany Doerfler, a senior clinical research dietitian at the Digestive Health Institute of Northwestern Medicine, recommends thoroughly cooking higher-risk vegetables, such as leafy greens and fresh herbs, to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness, including parasitic infections such as Cyclospora.

"Heating to temperatures over 160 degrees [Fahrenheit] will kill the parasite," Doerfler told Fox News Digital.

She also recommends choosing fruits and vegetables with thick skins that can be washed and peeled, such as bananas, avocados and melons, instead of avoiding fresh produce altogether.

Careful food and beverage choices can help lower the risk of gastrointestinal illness, the CDC says, although the choices cannot eliminate it completely because restaurant hygiene and local sanitation are often beyond a traveler's control.

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher said Sunday that he could vote for Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 presidential election if Democrats nominate a candidate aligned with the party's socialist wing, calling Democrats "cowardly" and warning that radicals are taking over the party.

"Yes," Maher said when asked by ABC News "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl if Maher could see himself voting for Vance. "If this is the Democratic side, yes."

Maher also contrasted Republicans' willingness to appear on his HBO program, "Real Time with Bill Maher," with Democrats who declined invitations despite receiving his vote.

Maher cited candidates in Colorado and Wisconsin advocating the abolition of police and prisons as examples of the party's leftward movement.

One of the nation's largest labor unions wants President Donald Trump to make one of America's favorite imports a lot more American.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters are urging the administration to impose significant tariffs on Mexican beer, arguing more of it should be brewed by U.S. workers instead of across the border.

The request comes as the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative continues to assess whether certain countries’ policies have fueled unfair manufacturing advantages.

The Teamsters argue Mexico has fueled its brewing industry through government-backed investment incentives, lower labor costs and export-focused policies that have expanded production and exports, helping imported beer capture a growing share of the U.S. market.

The tariff push could have implications for some of America's best-known imported beer brands, including Modelo, Corona, Pacifico and Tecate, much of which is brewed in Mexico before being shipped to retailers across the U.S.

"We can brew Modelo beer. It's the same recipe. Let's brew it in the United States," Sean O'Brien, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, told Fox News Digital. "We are very good at producing goods and services in this country," he added.

In its filing, the union said Mexican beer production has increased 85% since 2014, with about 80% of the country's beer exports shipped to the United States. Meanwhile, capacity utilization at major U.S. breweries fell from 82% in 2013 to 65% in 2023, a trend the Teamsters say threatens thousands of well-paying union jobs.

So if there's an opportunity to tariff Mexican beer in this situation, which is gonna provide opportunity for our current members, which we have tens of thousands in the brewery and distribution industry, then I'm all for tariffs and all for keeping American jobs in America," O'Brien added.

The Teamsters say the threat to U.S. brewery jobs is growing as major brewers continue investing billions of dollars in Mexico.

According to the filing, breweries have announced plans to add another 19 million to 23 million hectoliters of production capacity over the next five years, an expansion the union attributes to export-focused tax incentives, lower labor costs and industrial policies aimed at boosting manufacturing for foreign markets.

The filing also cites Mexico's 2023 tax incentives for export-oriented manufacturers and its broader "Plan México" industrial strategy, arguing those policies have encouraged additional investment while suppressing wages and making it more difficult for U.S. producers to compete.

The Teamsters have publicly backed tariffs as high as 75% on Mexican beer imports, calling them one potential remedy to what they describe as an uneven playing field. In a separate submission to USTR, the union said continued pressure from imported beer could force more U.S. brewery slowdowns or closures, jeopardizing good-paying brewery jobs that have supported American families for generations.

The Teamsters' filing is one of several submitted as USTR weighs potential trade actions under its ongoing Section 301 investigation.

USTR did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Historic nude beach in California is putting its clothes on when it opens later this month

Another historical clothing optional location in California is putting its clothes on. The San Gregorio Ranch State Beach, considered one of the first nude beaches in the state, is being added to the California State Parks.

The nonprofit land trust Peninsula Open Space Trust purchased the land last spring and has plans to donate it to the state park system later this year. The beach will open on July 29 and clothing will be required.

The day-to-day operations will be managed by Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, KQED reported. Bonny Hawley, the Executive Director of the organization, said nudity isn't allowed at state parks.

She added that the parks system will be educating the public about the beach no longer being a nude one. A sad day, I'm sure, for those who enjoy letting it all hangout while allowing sand easier access to their bodies.

"I’m not happy about it," Bob Morton told the Los Angeles Times. He's been to the beach and is confused by the state parks not allowing the swinging to and fro of body parts normally covered up in public.

"It seems counterintuitive," he added. "You go there to be one with nature."

DAVID MARCUS: Socialism and El-Sayed run into harsh reality in blue-collar Michigan

By now, we have all seen the evidence that the socialist uprising happening in the Democratic Party is fueled mainly by highly educated White voters, and on Saturday, I saw even more evidence of it at a Detroit rally for Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. It was whiter than a toothpaste ad.

Scanning the hundred or so people in line for the event that featured Marxist superstars Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., I saw fewer Black people than you could find at Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s restricted beach club in Rhode Island.

Outside of the Opera House where the event was taking place, I met Chris, selling socialist merch. Like me, he had arrived that morning, redheaded, ruddy and a bit sunburned from his recent swing through Texas supporting the supposedly non-socialist Senate candidate James Talarico.

A moment later, I had a conversation with the spokesperson for Don Offord, the progressive running for the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. One of the animating elements of this socialist insurgency became crystal clear, as he couldn't stop talking about AIPAC.

"Don doesn’t take any money from AIPAC (the pro-Israel lobbying group)," Mark said proudly. A kind of shock fell over him, as if he’d never considered this, and he just refused to answer.

Tim, from Ann Arbor was there, not as a fan of the socialists but as a concerned citizen, largely worried about data centers.

"I just want transparency," he told me. "People are making so much money, and us normal people don’t have much say over it."

I asked if he found the arguments from AOC and Bernie convincing, to which he simply replied, "Not really."

Later in the evening at the Anchor Bar, named not for sailors but for the newsmen who historically call the dive bar home, I met Glen, in his 50s who works for the federal government in Detroit and is not particularly fond of socialism.

"No way El-Sayed can win," he told me. "These socialists sound crazy. Free, free, free everything, that’s not going to work here."

When I asked about El-Sayed’s supposedly more moderate opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens, Glen told me, "She seems fine."

It does appear in recent days that the El-Sayed camp is aware of the warning Glen laid out. He has been all over TV claiming that he is not a socialist even as he appeared on stage with Bernie and AOC, the king and queen of the commie jamboree.

With the primary drawing nearer, we are seeing cracks behind El-Sayed’s Mamdani-esque creepy permasmile, as he tries to distance himself from the socialists while also trying to surf their zeitgeist.

It turns out that, unlike the communist corridor in New York City, here in Michigan, being a socialist is more of a bug than a feature. It's a lesson that the suddenly capitalism-loving El-Sayed has probably learned just a bit too late.

This is the reality that Democrats smitten by the socialism bug are soon to run smack into all over the country, whether they know it or not. Does Talarico in Texas really want redheaded Chris and his communist buddies to be an avatar for him in the Lone Star State? I doubt it.

From what I see on the ground, both from his supporters and his detractors, El-Sayed is in serious trouble in this Senate election. Saying, "I hate Israel" only gets you so far, especially in a city and state that has seen economic improvement over the distinctly non-socialist President Donald Trump era.

It is too soon to say that this race for the Senate nomination in Michigan is over. Perhaps there is a scandal or two that can harm Stevens in the late stages, but right now, she has the momentum, and El-Sayed has little or no ability to find new voters.

Meanwhile, the establishment is beginning to strike back against the socialists, with the Congressional Black Caucus this past week endorsing Stevens, as a check on the emerging power of the White and immigrant socialist voting bloc within the Democratic Party.

The question is whether there are enough tattooed White kids with worthless degrees to get El-Sayed over the top. The answer, it seems increasingly clear, is no.

Trump to present FIFA World Cup winners with trophy

President Donald Trump will present the FIFA World Cup trophy to the winner of the match between Spain and Argentina on Sunday, a White House official confirmed to Fox News.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said last month on "Fox & Friends" that he and Trump would deliver the trophy to the winning team’s captain on the field of New York/New Jersey Stadium.

Infantino also said at the time that Trump would attend the contest. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the president’s attendance "a fitting conclusion to a tournament that showcased America's ability to host the world on the grandest stage."

Trump was on stage during the FIFA Club World Cup trophy presentation after Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Earlier in the World Cup, Trump got involved in one of the World Cup's biggest controversies, calling Infantino and requesting a review of Folarin Balogun's red card. Balogun was suspended for Team USA's Round of 16 match, but he was later ruled eligible for the game.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was blasted by critics on social media Saturday after he disclosed that New York City attorneys were exploring whether NYC police could arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visits Manhattan for the United Nations General Assembly in September — suggesting the mayor lacked authority and was interfering with U.S. foreign policy.

"Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that’s what we will do, but we won’t be writing our own laws to that end," Mamdani said in an interview with The New York Times.

The mayor said the city’s Law Department was actively discussing the issue and reiterated his support for the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against Netanyahu.

Waltz cited several legal barriers, including that America is not a party to the Rome Statute that established the International Criminal Court, diplomatic protections surrounding U.N. visits and immunity for foreign leaders.

House Republicans urged Mamdani to turn his attention to problems within the five boroughs rather than attempting to involve local police in international affairs.

"Mamdani is threatening to arrest the head of one of our closest allies," House Republicans said on X. "He should stop politicizing local law enforcement and interfering with US foreign policy and instead focus on rising rent and housing prices and antisemitism in NYC."

Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who preceded Mamdani, said the proposal could also carry consequences for Americans serving overseas and promised to welcome Netanyahu to the city.

"Just so we’re clear, this would be an act of insurrection," Paladino said. "The United States is not a party to the ICC and it has no jurisdiction in this country. No law enforcement agency at any level has the authority to enforce its orders."

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024 over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Israel has rejected the allegations and challenged the court’s jurisdiction.

The United States is not a member of the ICC. Federal law prohibits state and local government entities from cooperating with ICC requests or providing support to the court.

John Fetterman took fresh aim at New York City Democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Sunday, branding him a "clown" over his repeated interest in having Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested if he visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly this September.

"[He's] such a tough guy to say that kind of thing. He has no way to do that," Fetterman said on "Sunday Morning Futures."

"America's not even part of that corrupt court," he continued, referring to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

"He's [Mamdani is] just a clown to even say that, so he won't try that. Just sit down and focus on other... problems that they have in New York. That's really not your purview. You and I know that. Sit down."

Mamdani has repeatedly said he would seek to have Netanyahu arrested if the Israeli leader travels to New York City, citing the International Criminal Court's November 2024 arrest warrant accusing Netanyahu of war crimes and crimes against humanity stemming from Israel's war against Hamas.

Most recently, the far-left mayor said his administration is actively exploring whether the city has the legal authority to arrest Netanyahu, calling him a "war criminal" who "belongs in The Hague," during an interview with The New York Times.

Netanyahu has denied the allegations, and Israel rejects the ICC's jurisdiction over the matter.

SEN JOHN FETTERMAN PLEDGES TO BE 'LAST MAN STANDING' IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN SUPPORT OF ISRAEL

The United States is not a party to the Rome Statute that established the ICC and does not recognize the court's jurisdiction over U.S. citizens or Israeli officials.

Fox News Digital previously reached out to the mayor's office asking whether Mamdani stands by calling Netanyahu a "war criminal," whether City Hall is actively consulting with the Law Department regarding possible legal action against the Israeli leader and whether the mayor would direct the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu if attorneys determined the city had legal authority. The mayor's office did not immediately respond, however.

Meanwhile, Fetterman has emerged as one of Israel's most outspoken defenders in Congress, simultaneously acting as one of Mamdani's — and the progressive left's — greatest internal party critics.

Liberal state Supreme Court justice blasts SCOTUS conservatives, says Hawaii will defy high court

A Hawaii Supreme Court justice used a ruling overturning a decades-old criminal conviction to deliver a blistering rebuke of Chief Justice John Roberts' Supreme Court, accusing the nation's highest court of weakening constitutional rights, damaging democracy and advancing a political agenda.

Justice Todd Eddins authored the 91-page majority opinion Wednesday in State v. Granillo, a case involving a man convicted in 1990 of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman on Maui.

The court ordered a new trial after concluding that hair and fiber evidence presented by an FBI expert relied on forensic science that has since been discredited.

But in roughly eight pages of the opinion, Eddins argued Hawaii's courts should not look to the Roberts court when interpreting the state constitution, using the case to deliver an unusually sharp critique of the nation's highest court.

LAWYER WHO BEAT HAWAII GUN LAW CALLS STATE’S RELIANCE ON BLACK CODE ‘DISGRACEFUL’

"When six justices walk away from those they are supposed to protect, state constitutions hold the line," Eddins wrote, referring to the court's six conservative justices. "That is not defiance. That is the design."

Eddins argued that Hawaii's Constitution provides stronger protections than the federal Constitution as interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court and said the court has abandoned landmark civil rights principles.

"The Court that now defines federal due process does not honor the work of 1954," Eddins wrote. "It revives the work of 1857. The work of 1896."

Eddins was referring to Brown v. Board of Education, ruled in 1954, which ended racial segregation in public schools, and Dred Scott v. Sandford, the infamous 1857 decision denying citizenship to Black Americans and Plessy v. Ferguson, the 1896 ruling that upheld racial segregation.

Eddins argued that the Roberts court no longer reflects the constitutional principles established in Brown v. Board of Education. Instead, he argued the court's originalist approach relies on the same type of constitutional interpretation in the discredited Dred Scott and Plessy decisions.

"Today’s hubristic originalists use the same method to control modern life," Eddins wrote.

SUPREME COURT STRIKES DOWN LIMIT ON PARTY CAMPAIGN SPENDING IN COORDINATION WITH CANDIDATES

"The Court overrides what Congress passed," Eddins continued. "It overrides what the people chose. All to serve its own ends. What this Court has done to constitutional rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law explains why Hawaiʻi’s Constitution takes no instruction from it."

Throughout the opinion, Eddins pointed to many of the Roberts court's most consequential decisions as evidence that constitutional protections have been weakened, including Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned the federal constitutional right to abortion; Citizens United v. FEC on campaign finance; Rucho v. Common Cause on partisan gerrymandering; Trump v. United States on presidential immunity; and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which expanded Second Amendment protections.

Eddins accused the Roberts court of adopting a "colorblind" approach to the equal protection clause that, in his view, ignores the amendment's original purpose of protecting formerly enslaved Black Americans.

"The Roberts Court sees only white," he wrote. "It refuses to acknowledge who the Equal Protection Clause was written to protect."

He also suggested that recent Supreme Court decisions have repeatedly expanded the power of government officials and wealthy interests while reducing protections for individual rights.

"A court that systematically dismantles democratic safeguards, steamrolls constitutional liberties, and tramples human dignity does not chart the course for the Hawaiʻi Constitution," he wrote.

THOMAS LEAVES NOTHING LEFT UNSAID ON RACIAL GERRYMANDERING DECISION: ‘GO FURTHER’

The opinion quickly drew criticism from legal observers who said it was highly unusual for a state supreme court opinion to devote so much space to criticizing the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The Court issues an unhinged attack on the legitimacy of the Supreme Court," Iowa Solicitor General Eric Wessan wrote on X. "I haven't ever seen something like this. And it's not good."

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley similarly described the opinion as "devoid of judicial restraint and decorum."

"The Hawaii Supreme Court just issued a truly shocking opinion that unleashed a torrent of rage and recrimination against the majority of the United States Supreme Court, including suggesting that they are de facto racists," Turley wrote on X.

The opinion comes just weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court handed Hawaii a major loss in Wolford v. Lopez, striking down the state's so-called "vampire rule." In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled Hawaii could not require gun owners to get a property owner's permission before carrying a gun into businesses and other private property open to the public.

Eddins has served on the Hawaii Supreme Court since 2020 after being appointed by former Democratic Gov. David Ige.

Brexton started 14th before a major wreck on the opening lap sent him toward the back of the field. From there, he methodically worked his way forward and completed the emotional comeback.

Brexton also opened up about what the win meant to him after an incredibly difficult two months.

"My first win since my dad passed. I don’t like to talk about it much, but the last two months have been really tough," Brexton wrote on Instagram. "I’m missing my crew chief, my driver coach, my dad, the guy who I looked up to more [than] anyone."

Kyle was deeply involved in Brexton’s budding racing career, serving not only as his father but also as his mentor, mechanic and biggest supporter. Brexton has continued competing since Kyle’s death, returning to the track less than two weeks later at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Friday’s victory came with another meaningful connection to his dad, as Brexton also competed in Kyle’s green No. 18 car during the outlaw portion of the event.

Kyle’s final Instagram post was a birthday tribute to Brexton, shared just days before his death.

"Happy Birthday Brexton!!! Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be!" Kyle wrote. "You’re the best kid on & off the track, you amaze us every day."

The NFL has found a way to dominate news headlines regardless of whether the season is happening or not. It could be the draft, free agency, preseason, minicamps, whatever, there is always something happening in the news with football. It can be overwhelming at times, but at others it is a nice reminder that the season is right around the corner. One team in the news for the wrong reasons has been the New England Patriots.

Last year, the Patriots had an unexpectedly good season. They won their division, knocking the Buffalo Bills back down a bit. They had their second-year quarterback looking like an MVP candidate.

Their first-year (with the franchise) coach led them to a great turnaround. The team went 14-3 in the regular season. In their Wild Card round game, they crushed the Chargers 16-3. Then, against Houston, they destroyed the Texans in a forgettable game for quarterback C.J. Stroud. Finally, they took on the Broncos and barely beat them in the AFC Conference Championship.

Offseason additions and subtractions

The biggest addition for the Patriots came recently as they traded for A.J. Brown. We know that when Brown is motivated, he can be one of the top wide receivers in the league. I think with this new team, he should be ready. He also goes to a pass-first quarterback instead of a run-first quarterback. They addressed some of their offensive line needs via the draft and free agency, and that could help. The biggest loss was Stefon Diggs, but he was replaced by Brown or even Romeo Doubs.

Roster

I like the offensive weapons that New England has surrounded Drake Maye with. There are very few positions that I feel like are lacking. I also think the team should still have a lot of strengths on defense. They have a good pass rush, and they have some solid players in the secondary. I don’t know that either will be elite, and most teams take a step back after the Super Bowl (especially after losses).

Betting outlook

After making it to the Super Bowl and being embarrassed, the expectation was that this season was going to be another step forward for the young club. Instead, most of the conversation this offseason has been about an alleged affair between their head coach, Mike Vrabel, and a reporter, Diana Russini. This will likely be a distraction until the season starts, as it seems like every few days, new pictures or pieces of the affair come out. I am bringing this up in a betting article because I think it is important to figure out if this will be a distraction or help the team focus on football. I’m sure there will be questions, but winning cures all.

Unfortunately, I don’t see them winning this year. Last year was a fluke to me. I need to see Maye do it again before I believe it. Vrabel will have his defense ready, but I like the under 10.5 for them.

Trump's election integrity speech: 7 takeaways every American should know

In his speech to the nation on July 16, President Donald Trump made a fundamental point seemingly lost on his critics:

Every American, whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, independent or otherwise, should be able to agree that we deserve the most secure, honest, and fair election system anywhere in the world. Secure elections should not be a partisan issue.

Yet Democratic critics are already disputing the evidence and conclusions Trump presented.

'SHADOW GOVERNMENT': TRUMP CLAIMS INTEL COMMUNITY BRAGGED ABOUT HIDING CHINESE MEDDLING

Here are the seven biggest takeaways about the vulnerabilities in our election process, as outlined by the president:

1. In his speech, Trump said newly declassified intelligence showed that China had illicitly acquired or attempted to acquire voter-registration information involving as many as 220 million Americans across multiple states. He characterized it as the "largest compromise of election data in history," involving the theft of "220 million U.S. voter files."

This allegation is shocking but not surprising. The Chinese engaged in a similar hack during the Obama administration, when they stole the personnel files of roughly 22 million current and former federal employees (including me) from the Office of Personnel Management. The Chinese military maintains units devoted to cyber operations targeting foreign governments and industries.

CHINA DISMISSES TRUMP ELECTION INTERFERENCE ACCUSATIONS AS 'ENTIRELY FABRICATED,' THREATENS COUNTERMEASURES

2. Instead of warning officials in the 18 affected states, President Trump alleged that individuals within the intelligence agencies "worked to actively suppress and downplay information about the extent of China’s" cybersecurity attacks, without even briefing the president or members of Congress. According to the president, an analyst admitted in an email that officials "deliberately massaged the presidential daily briefing to withhold" this information, while another FBI official said she was running a "shadow government" to keep intelligence about China’s meddling from becoming known.

If true, this is outrageous behavior. The president has instructed federal agencies to immediately provide states with all the information needed to remedy the vulnerabilities that allegedly allowed this to occur. That should have been done when the breach was first discovered.

3. According to President Trump, CIA reports indicate that the Chinese worked to "undermine domestic confidence" in the president. That effort included "efforts to use Chinese contacts with big U.S. companies to influence U.S. business leaders to turn against the president" as well as to use "U.S. journalists who had reported negatively on the U.S. president." These allegations obviously need further investigation.

4. The administration said DHS database comparisons flagged approximately 278,000 voter-registration records nationwide as potentially associated with noncitizens. Fox News Digital separately reported that DHS letters alleged more than 256,000 potential matches in four states. A release from the Department of Homeland Security indicates that 10 states have voluntarily participated in this program, and DHS reviewed the public files from California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Nevada, which have refused to cooperate. The president claims that "since many Democrat states refuse to share their voter files the real number [of registered aliens] is actually much higher than that." But even this "limited analysis" should raise concerns, according to the president — and he is right.

5. The president says that intelligence reports assess "that centralized election-related data repositories, such as voter registration databases, poll books, and other official election websites are most vulnerable to exploitation, and adversaries could use this access to these systems to disrupt election processes." He says Americans "were blatantly lied to about the security of our election infrastructure… They’re vulnerable and they’re easily compromised and people within our government knew that." This calls for complete cybersecurity audits by state officials of their electronic election systems.

6. According to the president, much of this information was found in "burn bags," which are used for classified documents marked for destruction but, because of "gross incompetence," were never burned. The president has directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the CIA to investigate "how and why such crucial information was hidden, to fire those involved in the cover-up and to file criminal charges, if appropriate." That is clearly the correct course of action.

7. Finally, the president demanded that the Senate pass the SAVE America Act, which would implement voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements for federal elections. He is also right about that — this is needed to fix the current registration "honor" system, which is too often dishonored.

The president’s presentation was not what his critics probably expected. As Fox News’s Ashley DiMella reported, there were no claims that China changed votes or altered election results.

But Trump outlined allegations of serious cybersecurity problems that have now been uncovered, including a Chinese influence campaign, and said the information was apparently hidden from him, the public, Congress and state election officials.

Those who claim none of this is true are doing so before they have even reviewed the treasure trove of formerly classified documents that has now been released, and before any states have even begun to investigate the potential compromise of their election systems.

It seems obvious that all of this should — indeed, must — be investigated. That is the only way to address alleged existing vulnerabilities and make sure no future elections are compromised.

A failure to do so will further damage the confidence the American people have in the election process, rather than the president’s decision to bring these intelligence assessments to light. Based on my research, the evidence from states that have implemented election-integrity reforms, such as voter ID, makes it clear that such reforms improve public confidence and turnout in our elections.

That is what we should all be aiming for.

WWE star Charlotte Flair lavished praise on Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton on Saturday night for a kind gesture he made for someone who was close to the former champion.

Flair appeared at Sports Illustrated Beyond the Pitch in New York City and told Fox News Digital that Haliburton contributed $10,000 to a GoFundMe set up for the family of 8-year-old Scarlett Guillen who recently died after battling a rare and incurable form of brain cancer known as Diffuse Midline Glioma.

"It really helped cover her funeral costs," Flair said. "I saw him tonight at the show and I was like, hey, thank you. You have no idea how much that meant to me, to the family. Just, what a great guy."

Scarlett was known as Flair’s biggest fan. She was featured in a segment before WrestleMania 42 about how the two shared a bond that will never be broken. Flair also wore butterfly ring gear in honor of Scarlett.

Upon her death, Flair put out a message on her X account.

Trump administration touts more than $1B in UN budget cuts as reform push gains momentum

UNITED NATIONS — The Trump administration says it has secured more than $1 billion in cuts to United Nations budgets in just six months, calling the reductions evidence that an institution long considered resistant to change is finally beginning to reform.

The latest milestone came June 30, when all 193 U.N. member states approved a peacekeeping budget of approximately $5.1 billion for the coming fiscal year — about $550 million, or 9.7%, less than the previous year.

Combined with a 15% reduction to the U.N.'s regular budget approved in December, U.S. officials say the agreements amount to more than $1 billion in cuts to assessed U.N. budgets, a level they describe as unprecedented.

Assessed budgets are funded through mandatory contributions charged to member states under a formula based largely on the size of their economies.

"On June 30th, with U.S. leadership, all 193 countries came together again for the second time in six months," U.S. Ambassador for U.N. Management and Reform Jeff Bartos told Fox News Digital. "We've achieved over a billion dollars of savings in six months, which is unprecedented. Any one cut would be unprecedented. The totality of the reforms is monumental."

The agreement comes as the United Nations faces mounting financial pressure and prepares for a leadership transition in 2027, with Secretary-General António Guterres set to leave office at the end of his second term. At the same time, the Trump administration has made reform a central pillar of its U.N. strategy, arguing the organization has become overly bureaucratic and inefficient.

In response to questions from Fox News Digital, U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric confirmed that the peacekeeping budget was reduced by roughly $550 million and the regular budget by 15%, describing both as "unprecedented reductions."

Bartos argues the reforms reflect sustained pressure from the Trump administration and months of negotiations led by the U.S. Mission.

"The new budget, this reformed budget, the enhanced efficiency changes the culture of how the U.N. looks at peacekeeping," Bartos said. "Every dollar has to achieve impact on the ground."

He pointed to the U.N. Mission in South Sudan as an example, saying the United States worked to streamline the mission's mandate before reducing its budget accordingly.

Another reform highlighted by the administration changes how the U.N. handles unused budget credits.

Until now, U.N. financial rules required the organization to return unspent funds to member states even if those contributions had never actually been paid, a practice critics said worsened the organization's recurring liquidity crisis.

The General Assembly voted on June 30 to introduce, on a four-year trial basis, a new methodology under which unspent funds will be returned only when backed by cash actually received.

Bartos said the change could save the organization more than $1 billion over the next three years. That projected figure is separate from the more than $1 billion in budget reductions already approved over the past six months.

He called the change another example of "common-sense" reform and said it could save the organization more than $1 billion over the next three years.

The United Nations likewise welcomed the change, though officials noted it had been a long-standing priority of Guterres.

"I have been pushing for this reform for almost a decade," Guterres said after the vote. He described the previous system as a "Kafkaesque cycle" in which the organization was expected "to give back cash that did not exist."

Dujarric said the reform would allow the U.N. to manage resources "in a more predictable and responsible way" while helping ensure operational continuity, particularly for peacekeeping missions.

Bartos insists the latest budget agreements are only the beginning.

Among the administration's next priorities are reforms to staff compensation, employee benefits and the U.N. pension system, areas he argues consume resources that could otherwise support humanitarian operations and peacekeeping missions.

"We're going to continue to see us push whether it's on benefits, whether it's on staff compensation, whether it's on the pension system," Bartos said. "There's massive numbers of additional reforms that our team is working on right now."

He also suggested reform will remain a central issue as member states begin selecting the next secretary-general.

"We're going to select the next secretary-general," Bartos said. "That reform momentum that has been growing over the last 15, 18 months... you'll see that continuing in 2027 with the new secretary-general."
