Your walking speed may hold a clue to how long you’ll live, study suggests

The speed a person normally walks could offer a simple clue about their overall health and longevity, new research suggests.

A study published in JAMA Network Open followed 4,067 adults in the U.K., who were about 69 years old on average, to see whether their usual walking pace was linked to their risk of death over time.

Participants completed a short walking test at their normal pace and also wore a wrist activity tracker for nine days to capture their walking speed during everyday life.

Over nearly 12 years of follow-up, faster walking in both settings was linked to a lower risk of death, even after researchers accounted for other health and lifestyle factors. A total of 739 participants died during that period.

Beth Templin, a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist and CEO of HouseFit Physical Therapy & Fitness in St. Louis, said walking speed can offer a broader look at how well the body is functioning.

"In physical therapy, we call walking speed the 'sixth vital sign' because it's a snapshot of how well many body systems are working together," Templin, who was not involved in the study, told Fox News Digital.

Changes in walking speed can therefore offer clues about a person's health, according to the doctor.

"To walk briskly, you need strong legs, a healthy heart and lungs, good balance, and a brain and nervous system that can coordinate it all," she said.

"When walking speed starts to slip, it's often an early warning sign that one of those systems is declining, sometimes before anything shows up on a lab test," Templin added.

For older adults who want to improve their walking speed and overall fitness, simply taking more steps may not be enough.

"Build the engine, not just the habit," Templin advised. "Most people try to walk more, but speed comes from strength and balance."

The doctor suggested strengthening the legs with simple exercises, such as standing up from a chair without using the hands and doing heel raises while holding onto a counter.

She also recommended adding short bursts of faster walking. After warming up, a person could walk briskly for one minute, slow down for two minutes and then repeat, gradually increasing the faster periods.

The findings do not mean that simply walking faster will make someone live longer, experts noted.

"This study shows an association, not proof that walking faster by itself adds years," Templin reiterated.

The participants included in the study were generally healthier than the larger group, the researchers noted. There is also no single standard method for measuring everyday walking pace with wrist activity trackers.

More research is needed to determine whether the findings apply to other groups.

Private jet with 9 people on board crashes just miles from Mar-a-Lago

A private jet carrying nine people slammed into a South Florida neighborhood Sunday afternoon, erupting into a massive fireball around nine miles from Mar-a-Lago.

In a statement, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) confirmed that the plane crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven, Florida, around 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 1.

"Nine people were on board," the FAA said.

"The aircraft departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

"The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates," the FAA added.

Emergency crews shut down Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, warning the public to avoid the area.

"Aircraft Incident," Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said on X. "Avoid the area. This will be an extended incident."

Video shared on social media showed the aircraft dropping rapidly before an explosion sent smoke and flames into the air.

According to airline tracking site, Flightradar24, the Learjet left Austin at 15:37 bound for the Bahamas and climbed to a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet.

"At 17:35 near Naples, FL, the aircraft began a descent down to 35,000 feet. At 17:48, the aircraft briefly climbed, before entering a steep, right-hand descent," Flightradar24 said on X.

Mike Waltz reveals Cuban diplomat shoved US staffer, slapped phone away in explosive UN clash

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz recalled on "The Sunday Briefing" how a heated confrontation with Cuban officials nearly turned physical, alleging that one diplomat shoved a member of his staff and slapped a phone out of his hand before being expelled from the United States.

"I really thought it was about to go down," Waltz said, attributing the decision to "boot the guy" back to Cuba to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"The guy that we actually put on a one-way flight back to his crumbling country shoved one of my staff, slapped the phone out of his hand, was trying to bully the U.N. staff into cutting my microphone. Then, their foreign minister gets up out of his chair and rushes the podium."

Waltz was accusing Cuba's government of enriching its leaders while its people suffered during a speech on the floor of the U.N. General Assembly when Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla approached the podium and sought to interrupt his remarks.

"If they'll do that on the floor of the U.N. in front of diplomats, in front of the world, imagine what they do to these the poor Cuban people behind closed doors," Waltz said.

He said he was holding up photos showing the deceased former Cuban President Fidel Castro's private island and luxury jet, as well as the Rolex watches, luxury vacations and yachts enjoyed by current regime leaders.

"They use the U.N., they try to use it to further their propaganda and blame us. We're not going to have it, and we smacked it down, almost literally."

Waltz said the Cuban regime "has been exporting communism, their Marxist ideology, through leftist groups and current politicians right here in the United States" and blamed much of the unrest in America on "67 years of putting up with Havana."

Biological male competing in girls' cross-country race denies another runner and her team a trip to state

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — When the Camas High cross-country runner's name was called, Joel Retzlaff yelled, "That's a man!"

Retzlaff is the outspoken father of Skyview High cross-country runner Sierra Retzlaff, who has publicly opposed competing against a biological male. But as Joel made that declaration, nobody walked up to the podium. The Camas boy, who switched to the girls' team midseason, was nowhere to be found.

Camas coach Matt LeGrand — who's in an impossible position — would not comment on why. But there's a decent chance the runner didn't want to face a crowd who knew that, by finishing seventh in regionals, he prevented an actual girl from advancing to state.

We won't mention that girl's name here, but she ran for Puyallup High — which finished eighth in the girls' 4A division. The top seven teams go on to state, and if not for the Camas runner's contribution, Puyallup would have advanced.

That team's coach also wouldn’t comment. Understandable. This is the story that, on Halloween, had almost everybody involved spooked.

The key word above is "almost," because there were some people at that meet at Chambers Bay who were willing to speak up. One of them was Carol Brown, a three-time Olympian who won a bronze medal in rowing who can't believe she's on the front lines for an issue she thought was settled a half century ago.

"I fought for Title IX to be allowed to be in sports period, and so I've been fighting this battle. I never thought 50 years later I'd be fighting it again," Brown said. "And I absolutely believe in rights for everyone to participate in sport, but for it to be fair and safe, it has to be based on sex."

What do you think about this Camas runner displacing another girl?

"It's absolutely unfair," Brown said. "The girls put in work, and what I find the hardest to accept is that everyone is saying the girls' voices don't matter, their emotions don't matter, their hard work and once again, like 100 years ago took a second seat to the males."

The Camas runner started the season on the boys' team, where he finished 76th in the season's opening JV meet. After switching to the girls' team, he has won a varsity meet and finished second three times. In the past two meets — first at districts last week and again at regionals Saturday — he placed just ahead of Skyview runner Charlie Garrett.

Safe to say Garrett wasn't happy about that.

"I mean, it's really frustrating. I was sad after my race because I was less than a second away [from beating the Camas runner]," said Garrett, admitting that beating him was a side goal of hers Saturday. "But I PR'd, and I qualified for state, so I shouldn't be sad."

What do you think about him not showing up on the podium?

"It shows why he shouldn't be in it," Garrett said. "He has a reason not to show up."

But plenty more opposing the Camas runner's participation showed up Saturday. One of them was Jasmin Faulk, the executive director of Women's Liberation Front (WOLF) — who lost her job at a community college due to a blog post about how "biology still matters." Her emphasis? That fairness in sports shouldn't be a partisan issue.

"The issue is really about the safety and the fairness for women and girls," Faulk said. "That's why we're here, that's why WOLF has chosen to participate and be vocal on this. We have fought for women's rights on all levels and in all areas and sports is just another one that is fairly agreed upon as a general view. This one's an easy one for us to stand by."

I mentioned to her that this doesn’t really feel like a right/left issue — that most Democrats support the separation of biological males and females in sports.

"It's unfortunate, though, because the Democrats are not voicing that. I think that's where the frustration is," Faulk said. "It's a lot easier for the right to take a stand on this one because they've kind of been consistent on this issue for a long time, but the Democrats, I think, have been quieted into it, and the fearmongering in the movement has been the hardest for a lot of people."

The fear is real. Despite this being an 80-20 issue, most people don't want their name attached to their opinions on this matter. One male cross-country runner came over to the crowd wearing XX-XY Athletics gear and said, "I like your shirts" — but said he couldn't accept a "save girls' sports" bracelet or comment on the subject. A female cross-country runner took a picture with that same crowd and said, "You can believe you are something, but you're affecting other people who are actually that and have worked really, really hard for this, and you're taking away a spot from a girl who trained all season." She approached me twice afterward to make sure I wouldn't use her name or school.

But then there are people such as Dawn Land, who held up a sign Saturday reading "Girls deserve fair sports!"

"I think that this boy that is running in the girls' race is grossly unfair. And I'm disgusted at the adults that allowed this to happen," Land said.

Well, Tuesday, adults will have a chance to make sure this doesn't happen in Washington state again. On the ballot is Initiative 638, which would prohibit biological males from competing in girls' K-12 sports.

Jerry Koosman, hero of the 1969 'Miracle' Mets World Series championship run, dead at 83

New York Mets legend Jerry Koosman died Sunday at age 83, the team announced.

Koosman was the winning pitcher in Game 5 of the 1969 World Series, which gave the franchise its first World Series title. That year's squad was dubbed both the "Amazin'" and "Miracle" Mets.

Longtime team employee Jay Horwitz said on social media Koosman had been battling "multiple illnesses."

The Mets, whose first season was in 1962, had never been above .500 after just nine games in any of their first seven years in existence. But the Amazin's showed promise early and ran away with the National League East in August.

On Aug. 13 that year, the Mets were 10.0 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL East, but in less than a month, they took over first place and wound up running away with the division en route to the title (with the help of the infamous black cat).

'The Pitt' star Noah Wyle does 100 push-ups a day ‘come rain or come shine’ at 55

Noah Wyle is sharing how he manages to stay fit while filming the hit medical drama, "The Pitt."

During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 55-year-old actor shared what it means for the Cedar Sinai Board of Governors to honor the show with the Hollywood Leadership Award, and how he stays fit enough to keep up with filming the physically demanding HBO Max show.

"I have an accountability partner and a guy named Dash Land who's the on-set dresser and he and I do a hundred push-ups every day, come rain or come shine. That's the base," Wyle said about his fitness routine. "We try to add a little bit on top of that if we can, if we remember to. That's base. We also installed a chin-up bar recently. I have a goal to be, I'm going to embarrass myself, to do ten by the end of the season. I'm at six right now, solid six."

The actor stars in "The Pitt," an intense medical drama which follows emergency nurses and doctors over the course of one shift, with each episode showcasing one hour of a 12-hour shift.

Write all that down and then work it into the appropriate hour of your shift, and it'll give you the physicality that you need."

Men's Health referred this exercise as NEAT, which stands for non-exercise activity thermogenesis, which takes into account everyday activities which aren't necessarily considered exercise, but get the heart rate up, such as mowing the lawn or vacuuming the floor.

Wyle's workout routine has paid off, as the actor was recently named People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2026.

The news was met with mixed reactions online, with one social media user writing, "Out of all of the people in the world…this is who you pick? You’ve got to be kidding," and another added, "Not even the sexiest in that show."

"More like Noah WHY-le! Ha ha but no seriously who’d you actually pick?" the user joked, while another asked, "is this a joke?"

Holiday airfare hits 10-year high as Thanksgiving and Christmas travel costs soar

Holiday airfares are reaching 10-year highs this year, putting added pressure on Americans planning Thanksgiving and Christmas trips. But a travel expert says there are still ways to save.

Hopper, a travel-booking company, published its 2026 Holiday Travel Index revealing sharp increases in airfare prices compared to last year.

The report analyzed a week's worth of flight searches in September, focusing on lower-priced tickets and accounting for changes in Thanksgiving's date when comparing prices to last year.

The data shows that domestic round-trip airfare for Thanksgiving is averaging $402, up 31% ($95) from last year.

International airfare has also increased, particularly for popular destinations in Europe, Mexico and Central America.

For Christmas, domestic round-trip airfare is averaging $452, up 23% ($85) from last year. Flights to Mexico and Central America have increased 23%, while fares to Europe are up 15%.

Hopper attributed the rising price to elevated jet fuel costs.

"Travelers looking ahead to Thanksgiving and Christmas travel will need to plan ahead for a larger travel budget this year, as the 2026 holiday travel is on track to be the most expensive in a decade," the report said.

"Months of elevated jet fuel costs due to the conflict in Iran have contributed to Thanksgiving and Christmas airfares reaching 10-year highs."

Gary Leff, a Texas-based aviation expert who founded the blog "View from the Wing," told Fox News Digital that the higher prices will heavily impact families traveling together.

"It's a much bigger deal when you're multiplying increases by, you know, four or more passengers," Leff said.

Leff suggests travelers continue monitoring airfare prices after booking, as they may be able to recover some of the difference if prices fall.

"You buy now and the fare drops, you just have to watch it," he suggested.

"Don't just buy it and then never look again."

"As long as you're not buying a basic economy ticket, most tickets no longer have change fees," Leff said.

"What that means is that you can call up the airline and apply your old ticket to a new one and generally get a credit back for the difference."

Leff also said common money-saving strategies, such as flying out of a different airport or booking a connecting flight, don't always work.

"If you're looking at an alternate airport that's farther away, there are costs for driving," he said.

"You may [have] to park where you otherwise wouldn't, or somebody might drop you off or wouldn't, or the Uber is more expensive."

He said choosing a connecting flight over a nonstop route can introduce additional risks, particularly during the busy holiday season.

"If you take a connection instead of a nonstop, that's more of an opportunity for things to go wrong," Leff said.

DHS official vows to prosecute and deport noncitizens caught illegally voting ahead of midterms

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) general counsel James Percival warned noncitizens against voting illegally during a Saturday appearance on "My View with Lara Trump," saying federal authorities will track them down, charge them and deport them as the country prepares for Tuesday's midterm elections.

"Our message now is, whether it's now or later, if you illegally cast a vote, we will find you, we will charge you, and we will deport you," Percival said.

His comments follow a Wednesday DHS press release announcing that dozens of noncitizens had been arrested on charges related to the agency's nationwide voter fraud crackdown.

"The patriots of ICE have arrested dozens of noncitizens who illegally voted in American elections," Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in the press release. "Some of them have criminal histories that include assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence, drug trafficking, burglary, and driving under the influence. The Trump administration will not allow illegal aliens to steal the votes of hardworking American citizens. American elections are for Americans only."

According to DHS, several of those arrested also had criminal records involving offenses ranging from drug crimes to sex offenses.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration's efforts to identify suspected noncitizen voters have faced pushback from some state election officials.

In October, Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs challenged findings from the Justice Department last week after federal officials said investigators had identified more than 400 noncitizens illegally registered to vote in the state, some of whom they said had cast ballots in multiple elections dating back decades.

Hobbs pushed back against the findings, saying the state's review of the list uncovered "several glaring deficiencies."

"This list includes United States citizens and is not reliable. Without individualized proof of ineligibility, it would be both irresponsible and illegal for election officials to decline to process a registered voter’s ballot," he said.

During an appearance on the "And the Writer Is..." podcast, Lambert discussed the powerful impact "Gunpowder & Lead," her 2007 song about a woman confronting an abusive partner after he is released from jail, has had on her fans.

"It's such a huge staple for me in my catalog, just the subject matter, and how I got to that and who I got to write it with, and the stories I’ve heard from women over the years who have come up to me and said, ‘That song saved my life,’" Lambert said of the hit, which was released on her album "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and was co-written with Heather Little."At some meet-and-greets, I've heard some crazy things."

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson injured once again and out of the game after only one play against Bills

Lamar Jackson's return to the Baltimore Ravens offense lasted all of one play on Sunday before he was injured once again.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback started his first game since Oct. 4 against the Buffalo Bills. However, on his first play in nearly a month and on the Ravens' first offensive snap of the game, Jackson injured his right thumb.

Jackson hit his thumb against Buffalo defensive end Greg Rousseau's arm as he threw the football. He immediately grabbed the thumb in obvious pain.

Jackson was taken to the Ravens' medical tent and then immediately escorted to the team's locker room while wearing a towel around his entire right hand.

The team initially reported Jackson was questionable to return with a right thumb injury, but within a few minutes, it said Jackson was done for the game.

The quick change in status suggests the Ravens are dealing with a dislocated or fractured thumb.

It is impossible for a quarterback with an injured thumb on his throwing hand to spin the football.

Tyler Huntley took over at quarterback for the Ravens.

And this is all too familiar for Baltimore. But it would soon get worse.

Huntley left the game in the second quarter with a toe injury. He was questionable to return.

Third-string emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano, who had never played in a regular-season game, was thrust into duty while Huntley sat on the bench.

Rough day for Baltimore.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., was hospitalized after experiencing a stroke, his chief of staff Allison Herwitt said in a statement released Sunday.

Murphy, who is not running in the midterms but has been stumping for Democrats, began feeling numbness in his arm Saturday afternoon while at his son’s hockey game and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring, according to Allison Herwitt.

Women's sex drive treatment linked to higher rates of heart attack and stroke

Postmenopausal women who use testosterone therapy could face a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular problems, new research suggests.

The research, presented at the 2026 annual meeting of The Menopause Society last month in San Diego, looked at more than 6,000 postmenopausal women age 45 and older, comparing those who received testosterone therapy with those who did not. Women with a history of cardiovascular disease were excluded.

Among women receiving testosterone, 3.8% experienced a first-time cardiovascular event compared with 0.5% of women who were not receiving the treatment, according to The Menopause Society.

Those events included heart attack, stroke, heart failure and other cardiovascular problems.

Testosterone is a sex hormone produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands that plays a role in sexual desire, as well as muscle and bone health, mood and cognition, according to Cleveland Clinic.

Anna Cabeca, a Dallas-based board-certified OB-GYN and menopause expert, told Fox News Digital that the differences between the two groups — women who received testosterone and those who did not — deserve attention.

"The difference between 3.8% and 0.5% is certainly significant enough to warrant attention, but we need to be careful about what these numbers actually tell us," said Cabeca, who was not involved in the study.

That amounts to about 38 cardiovascular events per 1,000 women receiving testosterone compared with five per 1,000 women who were not, the doctor noted.

For women considering testosterone therapy, Cabeca said doctors should look at the patient's overall health, including heart history, blood pressure, cholesterol, metabolic health, medications and family history.

"Sexual health is an essential part of overall health, and women deserve to have their concerns about libido, arousal and intimacy taken seriously, particularly during and after menopause," she added.

While testosterone can improve sexual desire and satisfaction in appropriately selected postmenopausal women, the possible benefits should be weighed against potential risks, Cabeca advised.

In cases when testosterone is appropriate, she favors careful dosing, monitoring and regular checks of a patient's symptoms and lab results.

There are important limitations to the new findings, the researchers acknowledged.

The study was observational, meaning the researchers looked at outcomes among women who were already receiving testosterone rather than assigning the treatment in a controlled trial.

As a result, the study can show a link between testosterone use and cardiovascular events, but cannot prove that the treatment caused them.

Women who received testosterone may also have differed from those who did not in ways that affected their heart risk, including age, blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol levels or other health factors, Cabeca said.

"This is an important safety signal that deserves further investigation, not definitive evidence of causation," she added.

Panera Bread grabs top honors for America's highest-rated fast-food breakfast item

A popular restaurant chain grabbed four of the top 10 spots in a recent Consumer Reports fast-food breakfast item ranking — with its avocado, egg white and spinach sandwich winning first place and edging out items from major chains like McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Panera Bread's avocado, egg white and spinach sandwich is served on a sprouted grain bagel flat and costs $5.

Containing egg whites, tomato slices, spinach, aged white cheddar cheese and avocado, the sandwich clocks in at 410 calories and 21 grams of protein, according to Consumer Reports.

The organization gave the sandwich an overall score of 75, a four out of five nutrition score and a five out of five sensory score, which is based on flavor and texture attributes.

Fox News Digital reached out to Panera Bread, headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, for comment.

While McDonald’s made the list, other fast-food empires like Wendy’s and Burger King were left behind.

McDonald’s Egg White Delight earned the 13th spot in the ranking with an overall score of 66, while its Egg McMuffin was ranked 19th with a score of 64.

Two other Panera items won second and third place in the ranking: a steel-cut oatmeal with strawberries and pecans, and another oatmeal with almonds, quinoa and honey.

Other chains such as Jamba Juice and Au Bon Pain were represented on the list, with Jamba Juice’s oatmeal with strawberries and brown sugar crumble earning fourth place.

Dunkin' earned spots in the ranking as well, with items including the whole grain oatmeal with dried fruit and the veggie egg white on an English muffin.

Panera’s Greek yogurt with mixed berries was also listed, and the chain’s ham, egg and cheese on whole-grain bread was one spot ahead of the McDonald’s Egg McMuffin.

A few Starbucks menu items made the cut as well, such as the red pepper sous vide egg white bites, the spinach, feta and egg white wrap and a berry yogurt parfait.

Panera customers on Reddit were somewhat divided in their opinions about the spinach, avocado and egg white sandwich.

One criticism that surfaced was the amount of avocado.

"It had to have been less than 1/8th of an avocado," a Reddit user said in a thread about Panera Bread. "When I say I got one chunk, it was literally like one slice that you can see in the advertisement pic."

Another person claimed to have been ordering the sandwich for a while, but felt it’s not quite what it used to be.

Will Democrats block the stock trading ban again after the midterm elections?

Americans do not agree on much these days, but they certainly agree on this: Members of Congress should not get rich trading stocks while writing the very laws that move those stocks.

The failure to ban insider trading in Congress is part of a broader rot now engulfing the swamp. Political corruption, in general, has become a top concern for voters — and for good reason. A new CNBC poll shows, perhaps surprisingly, that it is the most important issue facing the nation: According to CNBC, 36% of voters ranked corruption as the top issue facing the country. To these voters, corruption, and corrupt acts like insider trading, are even more important than the cost of groceries and gas.

Despite a slew of arrests in Minnesota, California and New York, where well-connected liberal groups and activists were caught stealing billions in taxpayer dollars, Democrats hold a four-point edge, 35% to 31%, on which party would better handle political corruption. Of those surveyed by CNBC, 93% said members of Congress and the president should not own or trade stock in companies that hold federal contracts, and 89% said companies owned by a sitting president’s immediate family should not receive federal contracts at all.

DOZENS OF HOUSE DEMOCRATS REJECT BILL FUSING CONGRESSIONAL STOCK BAN WITH FEDERAL VOTER ID

That all seems reasonable enough.

But apparently, it isn’t reasonable for Democrats. On Sept. 30, Senate Democrats rejected the Stop Insider Trading Act after it had already passed the House with Democratic votes. If it had passed, the law would have barred members of Congress, their spouses and their dependent children from buying new stock in public companies while in office. It would have also forced public notice before lawmakers could sell what they already hold.

But every single Democrat in the Senate voted no.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s, D-N.Y., excuse? He claimed Republicans set the bill up to fail, loading it with intentional "poison pills" so that it would never pass. He also called it toothless, and said it didn’t go far enough. Democrats pointed to a provision requiring voters to show identification at the polls, which an overwhelming majority of Americans support and virtually every other first-world country requires.

DEMS HAND GOP FRESH MIDTERM WEAPON BY OPPOSING WIDELY USED VOTER ID

Schumer’s other objection — that the bill doesn’t go far enough — is hard to square with his record. One does not refuse to lock his front door because he would prefer an elaborate home security system. A partial reform on the books beats a perfect one that lives only in tailored press releases. Even more to the point: Democrats ran the Senate for years and never delivered the "real" ban on insider trading they now disingenuously purport to want.

Senate Democrats’ recent vote against the Stop Insider Trading Act also puts attention back on Nancy Pelosi’s household, which sold 2,000 shares of Visa, worth between $500,000 and $1 million, on July 1, 2024. Less than three months later, the Biden Justice Department filed an antitrust lawsuit against Visa. The stock promptly dropped.

As attorney and longtime Trump advisor Michael Caputo recently put it, "Plenty of legal analysts have questioned the suit... whatever the lawsuit ultimately accomplishes, its most conspicuous result so far has been helping a well-connected investor avoid the losses other Visa shareholders suffered."

That well-connected investor, of course, is "Princess Nancy" herself.

However, the Visa sale wasn’t the first time hubby Paul Pelosi’s stock trading timing attracted scrutiny. In 2022, he bought more than $1 million in Nvidia call options weeks before Congress voted on major subsidies for the chip industry. He then sold them once the story broke.

What funny timing!

The more things change, the more they stay the same. At the turn of the 20th century, this was sometimes referred to in the jargon of the day as "honest graft." In New York, insiders like George Washington Plunkitt, who ran New York’s infamous political machine of Tammany Hall, declared, "There's an honest graft, and I'm an example of how it works. I might sum up the whole thing by saying: ‘I’ve seen my opportunities and I took ‘em.’"

Today, Pelosi’s corruption is so obvious that stock-trading platforms like PelosiTracker, Quiver Quantitative and Unusual Whales attempt to mimic her stock portfolio. In 2024, that portfolio returned more than double the S&P 500.

"On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered, resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann," a representative for the 83-year-old filmmaker told Fox News Digital. "He was treated and is being released."

According to People, Mann accidentally shot himself in the leg at the range around 4 p.m. local time Saturday.

Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., endorsed Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers on Sunday amid Democratic infighting that has roiled the Michigan Senate race.

The endorsement came on the heels of Stevens' appearance alongside Rogers at Detroit’s Perfecting Church, where Fox News confirmed she attended a service. Stevens lost in the primary to fellow Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, and has been critical of his unwillingness to condemn the overt antisemitism of some of his supporters.

"Hey Michigan, as you may have seen, our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul [El-Sayed] said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away and he's right. And that's why I'm endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today," Stevens said in a video posted on X.

Stevens said she remains "a very proud Democrat" who loves Michigan but could not support El-Sayed, citing his backing from political streamer Hasan Piker.

"I'm honored to have Haley Stevens support today. I'm honored to have earned that vote," Rogers told reporters gathered outside the church. "This is more a statement about standing together against hate and the future of this state and this country than it is anything else," he added.

The appearance came after Stevens was disinvited from a planned church event with El-Sayed, the man who narrowly defeated her in Michigan’s August Democratic primary.

The reversal left Stevens at the same church as Rogers, El-Sayed’s Republican opponent.

The FOX studio crew was discussing the day's upcoming games and Bradshaw discussed the AFC showcase matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens.

"This is gonna be a fun game to watch," Bradshaw began harmlessly enough. "Last year, they played each other and the final score was 41-40, Buffalo. You got two great quarterbacks, all right?"

Yes, all right.

"Now you got [James] Cook, and then you got the great running back for the Baltimore Ravens, [Derrick] Henry. So you got great running backs, great quarterbacks, but here's the deal, no good defense," Bradshaw said.

Here we go.

"Buffalo's defense is horrible," Bradshaw then added looking into the camera. "And with [Lamar] Jackson back, I expect him to throw the football, play action, even though Lamar has a bad ankle. This game's gonna be fun to watch it.

Secondly, the Bills prove Bradshaw wrong on Feb. 14 when Super Bowl LXI is played.

Shootings near 5 college communities leave 3 dead, at least 29 injured

Shootings in four college communities over the weekend left three people dead and at least 29 others injured.

Indiana, Delaware, Alabama, Illinois and Colorado police are each investigating shootings in crowded parties near college communities, according to police and university statements.

Seven were hospitalized in Bloomington, Indiana, near Indiana University's homecoming, while the University of Delaware is still counting victims (six are reportedly hospitalized) and the Magic City Classic football game between Alabama A&M and Alabama State near Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, left at least one dead and eight wounded.

In Bloomington, Illinois, eight people were shot near Illinois Wesleyan University, leaving a 19-year-old woman dead. A shooting in Boulder, Colorado, left one University of Colorado Boulder student dead and another critically injured.

SHOOTING AFTER MAGIC CITY CLASSIC IN ALABAMA LEAVES 1 DEAD, 8 INJURED

After midnight near Indiana University, officers monitoring a large crowd around Kirkwood Avenue and Dunn Street heard shots around 1:30 a.m. ET and saw a man with a firearm running from the area, Bloomington police said.

Officers took the man into custody near Dunn Meadow, and recovered a gun and shell casings in the area. Police said it remains unclear whether the suspect fired any shots.

No deaths were reported in Bloomington, and police said they did not know whether there were additional victims.

A disturbance in the crowd may have preceded the shooting, police said. Indiana University police and Indiana State Police assisted in the response.

In Newark, Delaware, a shooting on Saturday night rocked the University of Delaware.

"We are deeply concerned about the shooting on Main Street Saturday night, which has impacted our entire community," the school's director of media relations Peter Bothum told Fox News Digital in a statement. "We are grateful to the Newark Police Department, which is leading the investigation. We will continue to communicate confirmed information, which will be shared on a dedicated alerts page (udel.edu/about/alerts) and updated as we learn more."

University President Laura Carlson said victims were receiving care and thanked Newark police, campus police and other first responders for providing on-scene care.

POLICE OFFICER, WOMAN SHOT NEAR NOTRE DAME AFTER FOOTBALL TAILGATES

"I am writing to you about the shooting last night in Newark on Main Street, although it is difficult to know what to say when violence like this erupts in our community," she wrote in an email to the school community.

"We are all impacted," she continued. "I ask that you keep the victims in your thoughts and hearts as they receive care. Please also recognize the impact and toll on our students and community members who were on Main Street last night and witnessed this violence."

The university did not provide a confirmed number of victims or say whether anyone had died, but a report indicated at least six were hospitalized. The investigation is being led by Newark police. The school urged students and staff to follow its campus alerts page for confirmed updates.

In Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed and eight others were wounded Saturday night after the Magic City Classic football game near Legion Field, police said. Officers found nine people with gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Graymont Avenue West shortly after 7:50 p.m. ET.

One victim was in critical condition and seven others were stable, authorities said.

Michael Pickett, chief of the Birmingham Police Department, said most spectators and families had left the stadium property after the game, but the shooting happened nearby, where vendors were set up along Graymont Avenue.

He said he was "very grateful that more people weren’t injured."

Police spokesperson De'Rell Freeman said one person had been detained and transported to police headquarters for questioning, and "multiple weapons" had been found and secured.

Alabama State and Alabama A&M are historically Black universities and archrivals whose annual contest has been played for more than 100 years. Nearly 70,000 fans attended Saturday's game, won by Alabama A&M 31-28. The event draws some of the largest crowds in the country for games played in their college football division.

The Magic City Classic has such a deep history that Alabama State coach Eddie Robinson Jr., a former NFL linebacker and alumnus of the school, proposed creating a Hall of Fame for the game.

In Bloomington, Illinois, police responded just before 1:25 a.m. Sunday to a shooting near Illinois Wesleyan University and found multiple people at the scene with gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately secured the scene with assistance from the Illinois State Police and McLean County Sheriff's Office, and seven victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. A 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the McLean County Coroner's Office and another woman remains in critical condition.

ATF Chicago confirmed Sunday afternoon that it is assisting with the investigation.

SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR SUSPECTED GUNMAN OUTSIDE NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL GAME VS MICHIGAN STATE

In Boulder, Colorado, an overnight shooting on University Hill killed one University of Colorado Boulder student and left another critically injured.

Just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Boulder police officers responded to a home for a reported shooting. Officers arrived at the scene in less than two minutes and found two 19-year-old men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital where one was pronounced dead. The second victim remains in critical condition.

Both victims were University of Colorado Boulder students, and the Boulder County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the victim who died, according to a news release from the city of Boulder.

Officials said the shooting report was the second call to the home Saturday night. Earlier Saturday night, Boulder police responded to a noise complaint involving a large party at the home. Officers contacted the people who lived at the home and cited them for having a nuisance party. Following police intervention, the party ended, and hundreds of attendees left the area. A smaller group remained inside the home.

Detectives said they believe a group of people later attempted to force their way into the house. Shortly after that scuffle, shots were fired inside the home, striking the two victims.

Detectives have interviewed roughly 20 witnesses and continue to pursue numerous leads, according to the city.

Detectives released photos of two persons of interest and other possible witnesses. The first person of interest was described as a man with short, dark hair and facial hair, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt underneath a black jacket. The second person of interest was described as a man with short, dark hair, wearing a black shirt with Art the Clown on it and a silver chain necklace.

"My heart breaks for the victims and for everyone impacted by this senseless violence. Our community deserves to feel safe, and we will not accept this kind of violence in Boulder," Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn wrote in a statement. "I want to assure these families and our community that we are doing everything in our power to find those responsible and hold them accountable."

In addition to the shootings near campuses, police in Dallas say four people are dead and 15 are injured following three separate shootings in a Dallas neighborhood. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said police are still trying to determine if the shootings were related or what led to them. Comeaux said some arrests were made, but he did not specify how many or what charges were involved.

"This is a really big scene. It's spread out," Comeaux said. "We are interviewing some individuals right now that we have arrested, still trying to figure out exactly how it ties into all the shootings out here."

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds from a shooting that happened early Sunday. No arrests have been made, police said in a news release. A preliminary investigation indicates an altercation preceded the shooting.

A joint fundraising committee for four progressive House Democrats has raised a record $2.35 million so far this election cycle, while barring donations from the Fraternal Order of Police, according to federal filings and the committee’s disclosure.

The Squad Victory Fund is authorized by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.; and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. The fundraising gives the four lawmakers and their allied political groups a shared vehicle to collect and distribute campaign contributions.

Texas firefighters rescue distressed raccoon after its head gets stuck in a hole in a tree

Raccoons are known for getting into all kinds of things while out scavenging for food. They will tip over garbage cans, rip open bags and even climb into an attic looking for food if they can find a way in.

They will also use tree hollows for dens. Assuming, of course, that they fit into said tree hollow — which isn’t always the case, as firefighters in Austin, Texas, found out last week when a raccoon got its head stuck in a hole in a tree.

A concerned neighbor called the Austin Fire Department to see if they could help the trash panda out. It wasn’t reported if the raccoon was after food or if it was in the market for a den when it became stuck in the tree.

What was reported is that the firefighters answered the call, used a Jaws of Life-type tool, and freed the stuck animal from the hole in the tree.

The raccoon’s apparent limpness as it was lowered to the ground caused concern that its scavenging days were behind it. The firefighters addressed those concerns.

"RACCOON RESCUE UPDATE: HE’S OKAY! For everyone who has been concerned about the raccoon Austin firefighters recently rescued from a tree, we have good news!" the Austin Firefighter Association wrote.

"Although the video may make it look like the raccoon is unconscious or has passed away when crews free him and lower him to the ground using a tool called a catch pole, we’re happy to report that he was alive and unharmed!"

‘Back to the Future’ star Christopher Lloyd confesses he was ‘hooked’ on cocaine during ‘Taxi’ years

Christopher Lloyd is opening up about his decades-long struggle with alcohol and drug addiction, revealing how substance abuse became "entrenched" in his life before he ultimately sought treatment and found sobriety.

The 88-year-old actor detailed his battle in his new memoir, "In My Own Time," and discussed his recovery during a recent interview with his "Back to the Future" co-star, Michael J. Fox.

In the book, Lloyd recalled that his cocaine abuse began after a woman approached him at a Los Angeles nightclub and asked if he wanted to "do a snort."

"She meant cocaine, which at that point I had never tried," Lloyd wrote. "I hadn’t been out looking for it, but I said all right. We went out to her car and did a couple of lines. That was all it took. I was hooked almost immediately. I loved it, and that was where my cocaine abuse began."

"Within a couple of years of my arrival in Los Angeles, cocaine, alcohol, and pot had become woven into my life in a serious way," he continued. "It wasn’t just the occasional weekend indulgence. It got entrenched."

Lloyd explained that he made a point of staying sober while working, but his substance use intensified once filming ended.

"I never went onstage or in front of a camera high or drunk, because I knew I would lose control of myself," he wrote. "But once the curtain came down or the director said, ‘That’s a wrap,’ all bets were off."

"I just knew I liked it, and before long it had a hold on me," he added.

Another substance that had a hold on him was alcohol.

Lloyd recalled being confronted about his drinking during a routine medical appointment. When a nurse asked how many drinks he had each day, he answered, "Two or three."

"She said, ‘You’re an alcoholic,’" Lloyd wrote. "It stunned me, because I didn’t think what I was doing was a problem."

But he quickly noticed that his substance abuse eventually began affecting his life on screen and off.

"I was recognizing that I had a problem, and if I couldn’t yet appreciate that I was putting my life at stake, I could at least see that it was endangering my career," he wrote. "I had gotten into these things pretty seriously and I needed help to get under control and get out of it."

"At some point, it became clear that I needed treatment," Lloyd continued.

In 1993, Lloyd’s psychologist arranged for him to enter treatment in Arizona. He recalled being "completely wasted" when he boarded a plane to a treatment facility, where he refused to stay and ran into a barbed-wire fence after leaving.

"I refused to stay," he wrote. "I bolted out of the place and, drunk and disoriented, ran straight into a barbed-wire fence that tore up my face and left me a bloody mess."

He was eventually admitted to Sierra Tucson, where he remained for five weeks.

"That was the beginning, but not the end of it," Lloyd wrote. "I relapsed a few times after that."

Lloyd said he continued attending a private 12-step meeting for high-profile men, where he felt comfortable speaking openly about his addiction.

"Some years later, on April 1, I got sober for what turned out to be the last time," he wrote.

During a conversation with Michael J. Fox for Interview Magazine, Lloyd acknowledged that his struggles with alcohol were not immediately apparent to those around him.

"You accounted in the book that you had alcohol problems," Fox said.

"Yeah, I did," Lloyd replied.

Fox then asked whether Lloyd was drinking while playing his "Taxi" character, Reverend Jim.

"Sometimes," Lloyd said. "It hadn’t gotten to be a big problem yet."

"Because once you let it go, it’s out there, and you’re such a private person," Fox said.

"Yeah. I had a problem," Lloyd replied.

US calls Turkey-Libya maritime deal 'unhelpful and provocative' amid regional backlash

The Trump State Department denounced the recent eastern Mediterranean maritime agreement between NATO member Turkey and the fractured Libyan state.

The Turkey-Libya deal has also caused frustration and anger among many nations because they say it rewrote the established sea borders of the sensitive Mediterranean Sea region, where large deposits of gas might be located.

The Eastern Libyan parliament approved the maritime accord in mid-October. The region is ruled by military leader Khalifa Haftar, who has formed an alliance with Turkey — the maritime deal ignores Libya’s internationally recognized government in Tripoli in the northwestern part of the oil-rich country.

A U.S. State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital: "The announcement of the ratification of the Turkish-Libyan delimitation memorandum of understanding has raised tensions in the region and is unhelpful and provocative — and our position on this matter has not changed."

The spokesperson added: "We encourage all countries, including partners in the Eastern Mediterranean, to resolve maritime disputes through good-faith negotiations and avoid any provocative behavior. Greece and Türkiye are both NATO allies. We encourage them to engage bilaterally to address any areas of disagreement."

According to the spokesperson, "Peaceful resolution of such disputes opens the way for commercial investment and exploration that will benefit the entire region."

According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday said the maritime agreement between Turkey and Libya was "entirely legitimate" and not in violation of international law.

He added: "This is an entirely legitimate agreement, both from a legal and a political perspective. There is no need to debate it."

Reuters reported Fidan also shot back at critics of the deal. "There are countries reacting to this. We know why they are reacting. Some are doing so because they need to, some really do have strategic problems with this issue. However, this is an entirely legitimate deal, both from a legal and a statutory perspective. There is no need to argue this."

Fox News Digital sought comment from both Turkey and Libya but did not get a response by time of publication.

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis angrily wrote on his ministry’s website that, "The memorandum will not be implemented. And it will not be implemented for the simple reason that it produces no legal effects whatsoever, as it is entirely contrary to international law." He added, "Türkiye had established a system of influence in Libya, essentially seeking to advance its own interests" and the Turkish media has ramped up its anti-Greece rhetoric. "There is a constant stream of reports pushing the Turkish government to become even more aggressive."

Endy Zemenides, the executive director of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, told Fox News Digital that the Turkey-Libya agreement "absolutely" endangers the security of the U.S. and its allies.

He said: "This memorandum specifically infringes on U.S. companies and U.S. energy policy. It effectively denies maritime rights and zones of Crete. Crete is NATO’s southernmost base. And the U.S. has been increasingly relied upon because of wars in the Mideast." He noted that the American companies Exxon and Chevron are present in Crete.

Zemenides said the Turkey-Libya deal is a way of pushing the U.S. out of the region. The U.S. has not been able to rely on Turkey for a decade, said Zemenides. He continued that "allowing Turkey to challenge the pro-Western order" is not good for American interests.

The European Union invoked unusually strong language targeting the deal, declaring it in violation of maritime law.

"The EU position regarding the MoU is firm and clear. As outlined in the European Council Conclusions of December 2019 and reiterated in June 2025, the Türkiye-Libya Memorandum of Understanding infringes upon the sovereign rights of third States and does not comply with the Law of the Sea. It is null and void and cannot produce any legal consequences for third States."

Israel also blasted Turkey and Libya. The Jewish state has developed a troika alliance with both Greece and Cyprus. Israel’s foreign ministry said on X it "strongly condemns the decision of the Libyan House of Representatives to ratify the Maritime Jurisdiction Memorandum between Turkey and Libya."

Israel’s foreign ministry added on X, "This agreement infringes upon the sovereign rights of our close allies in the region. Regretfully, once again we see Turkey working to destabilize the east Mediterranean region."

After mudslides in Big Sur caused a three-year closure, some of the most scenic sections of the Pacific Coast Highway have been reopened, giving travelers the opportunity to take in the inspirational sights of California’s coastline.

"Lesser known artsy communities" lie just outside the roadway, says National Geographic.

On the southern end, artist colony Laguna Beach celebrates its centennial in 2027.

Downtown Laguna Beach not only offers beach access, but fronts a new pedestrian promenade with boutiques, galleries, outdoor performance spaces and "al fresco" dining.

The central-coast city of Lompoc features a trail of more than 30 murals depicting the town’s agricultural roots, as well as a wine region known as the Wine Ghetto.

North of Lompoc is the one-block dairy farmer town of Harmony, which boasts a population of 18. The town features small-batch ice cream at Harmony Valley Creamery, and other locally owned businesses like Harmony Glassworks and Harmony Pottery Studio and Gallery.

The northern end of the highway is home to more artistic regions, like Mendocino County and Fort Bragg, offering exhibitions and galleries like Pacific Textile Arts.

3. Southern Ozarks, Missouri and Arkansas

In the heart of the United States, spanning between Missouri and Arkansas, the southern Ozarks show off "spectacular" bluffs, valleys and ridgelines.

The region is a "haven" for outdoor activities, National Geographic said, as well as immerse cultural activities in neighboring towns like Bentonville, Arkansas — home to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Close to Bentonville, Bella Vista, Arkansas, is the self-proclaimed mountain biking capital of the world, fronting the new OZ Trails Bike Park. It's the state’s first chairlift-served mountain bike park for access to 20 miles of trails for all levels.

About 60 miles across the Missouri border is Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, where the Ozarks unfold across 10,000 acres, featuring limestone cliffs and valleys, National Geographic detailed.

Herds of elk, bison and longhorn cattle can be spotted here. Visitors can hike and bike the park’s network of trails.

4. Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore is packed with U.S. history as the birthplace of the American railroad.

The port city on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay chartered the country’s first commercial railroad in 1827. The National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation will reportedly mark the 200-year anniversary with a $38 million upgrade.

The museum’s makeover will feature "archival treasures" like letters from Abraham Lincoln and railroad tech exhibits, according to NatGeo.

National Geographic also highlighted Baltimore’s historic Lexington Market, established in 1782. The public market features merchants like family-owned seafood, produce and baked goods vendors.

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has attractions like the National Aquarium and 1854 U.S.S. Constellation warship, as well as parks and retail stores.

The waterfront features a whiskey distillery, green spaces and restaurants offering local delicacy options, like steamed crabs and crab cakes.

The Baltimore Blueway has launched kayaking trails, National Geographic reported. A trip to Fort McHenry also came as a recommendation, as it's the location that inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star-Spangled Banner."

5. Catalina Island

National Geographic called attention to a second California location, Catalina Island — a remote destination only accessible by boat.

An hour on the ferry from Long Beach, California, brings visitors to the island's sweeping landscape, including ridgelines and roving bison.

Catalina Island is also home to indigenous plant and animal species, like small foxes that can be spotted along the 38.5 mile Trans-Catalina Trail, and coastal sage shrub.

The Garden to Sky Trail offers an ocean overlook from the Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden, which showcases "rare island flora," National Geographic said.

Oklahoma State and Iowa State combined for 100 points in their Week 8 showdown on Halloween night, which inevitably means it was a contest filled with fireworks, but it was also one that ended in an incredibly frustrating fashion for the visiting Cowboys and their fanbase.

Trailing 48-42 with just under three minutes left in regulation, the Cowboys put together an impressive 12-play drive that ended with wide receiver Wyatt Young scoring his second touchdown of the evening to tie things up at 48 apiece. Oklahoma State then tacked on the extra point to grab a one-point lead with 53 seconds left on the clock, but it was what took place between the score and the PAT that became the story of the night.

After Young scampered into the end zone, he immediately ran over to a section of Iowa State fans sitting in the first few rows and began shouting at them.

With Young going out of his way to shout at some fans, the first two being young children, the officials flagged him for unsportsmanlike conduct, which was imposed on the ensuing kickoff.

With the kickoff being pushed back 15 yards, the Cyclones were able to begin their drive at the 37-yard line after a return. The first play of the drive then went for 33 yards, putting Iowa State immediately in field goal position.

The Cyclones were able to push the football inside the red zone before calling a timeout and setting up what was the game-winning field goal with two seconds remaining.

While it would be unfair to pin the loss on Young's unsportsmanlike penalty, especially given the explosive play the Cowboys' defense gave up on the first play of the final drive, it certainly didn't make life easy on the visiting team trying to hold on for the win.

Young issued an apology to Cowboys fans on social media in the early hours of Sunday morning following the team's 51-49 loss.

"I apologize to all cowboy football supporters, my teammates, and coaches for the lack of discipline and selfishness I displayed today," Young wrote on X.

"Football is a team sport and one play, like the one I made, can change the outcome of the whole game and I'm sorry for that. The lack of maturity I showed is inexcusable and should have never been displayed on the field. I deeply regret representing the loyal and true motto Oklahoma State stands by the way I did. I take full accountability for what happened, our coaches do not teach us or allow us to act the way I did."

Oklahoma State head coach Eric Morris did not sugarcoat the situation when asked about it during his postgame press conference, calling it "the most selfish penalty ever."

With the loss, Oklahoma State fell to 5-3 on the season, which, barring a true miracle, means that its College Football Playoff dreams are dead.
