Former Colombian president accused of exploiting dozens of women for presidential parties

Petro denied exchanging government contracts for sexual relations and said the accusations were part of a political attack

Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro has been accused of trapping and exploiting 48 women for presidential parties, with officials alleging they were hired "just to be with President Petro."

Carlos Andrés Ríos, director of Colombia’s Administrative Department of the Presidency (DAPRE), claimed Petro oversaw a system that used service contracts to "systematically" control and weaponize the women, channeling public salaries in exchange for intimate relationships.

"We are going to prove to the Colombian people how the Casa de Nariño was unfortunately set up, organized, and tailored for something completely different — not to govern, but to party there every single day, bring in women," Rios said during a congressional hearing last week.

COLOMBIAN LAWMAKERS SEEK SUSPENSION OF TRUMP FOE GUSTAVO PETRO OVER ALLEGED MEDDLING IN UPCOMING ELECTION

Petro issued a statement Sunday denying that he had used his public office to obtain sex.

"I have never given out a contract in exchange for sexual relations. I would vomit on myself if I ever did such a thing," Petro said in a post on X.

He argued that while his office provided state-funded aid programs for vulnerable women, he claimed that it is fundamentally different from giving contracts to individuals in exchange for sexual favors.

TRUMP-BACKED 'EL TIGRE' LOOKS TO CRUSH CARTELS, END COLOMBIA'S SOCIALIST ERA IN PIVOTAL ELECTION

"Helping poor women, female heads of households, and those engaged in sex work so that they have different life options — as I have demonstrated in public administration through concrete and funded programs — is something very different from giving out contracts in exchange for sexual relations. No person who has participated in those public programs will ever be able to say that I have done anything of the sort," he said.

Petro also acknowledged in the statement that he had occasionally visited establishments where sex work took place when he was young, saying he regretted the experiences and had stopped visiting such places decades ago.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"When I was very young, I occasionally visited places where sex work was practiced. There, I experienced that paying for sex felt dirty to me, and I perceived the sadness of the men and women who attended those places. That is why I stopped visiting them decades ago," he said.

The accusations come amid broader criticism of Petro over alleged misuse of public funds, depletion of national budgets and drug trafficking.

Petro has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated attacks by figures including President Donald Trump and Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella.

"After attempting to portray me as corrupt and a drug trafficker — an intention expressed by people like Abelardo de la Espriella and Donald Trump, without being able to present a single piece of evidence of corruption or drug trafficking, because I have never stolen a single peso from the public treasury and I have fought for over two decades against drug traffickers, exposing their political ties," Petro said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment.

Dan Rather's withering criticism of CBS 'doesn't reflect reality,' network insider says

Rather blasted his longtime employer, calling CBS News a ‘disaster’ under Bari Weiss

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather blasted his former employer that's now under the leadership of lightning rod editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, raising the eyebrows of a network insider who doesn’t think the criticism reflects "reality."

Rather, who famously stepped down from his role as CBS’ evening news anchor in 2005 and eventually left the network the following year after reporting a discredited story about then-President George W. Bush, joined a variety of liberal media watchdogs who have spoken out against Weiss over the past year.

"What’s happened at CBS News is sad," Rather told Variety.

"It is in many ways a disaster, not just for the people who work at CBS News — and there’s still a lot of really good people working there," Rather continued. "But this is a further example of big billionaire corporate power in bed with powerful people and the presidency to get control of these operations for their benefit."

SCOTT PELLEY FIRED AT CBS NEWS AFTER BLOWUPS WITH BARI WEISS, NEW '60 MINUTES' PRODUCER

Rather also suggested that President Donald Trump has forced change at CBS News, as Skydance Media CEO David Ellison took control of the network last year through a long-planned merger that was approved shortly after CBS agreed to settle an election interference lawsuit with the president.

"Donald Trump has expressed his extreme dislike for ’60 Minutes.’ So now, he’s gotten his way," Rather said. "He cleared the way for a consolidation of corporate power, which in turn cleared the way for doing what’s been done to ’60 Minutes.’ The wreckage of CBS News is everywhere and continues to this moment. I don’t see how to stop it."

While anonymous CBS News staffers have objected to changes made under Weiss, newsletters aimed at progressive audiences have regularly attacked her. Other former CBS News stars, such as Scott Pelley, have spoken out against Weiss, but not everyone inside the network agrees with Rather.

NORAH O'DONNELL URGES LIBERAL BARI WEISS CRITICS TO GIVE 'CBS MORNINGS' A CHANCE AS SHE RETURNS TO PROGRAM

"I’d point out that his criticism doesn't reflect reality," a CBS News insider told Fox News Digital.

"Going further, ‘60 Minutes’ has done critical stories about the Trump Administration throughout this season," the insider added.

Indeed, CBS’ "60 Minutes" has aired several stories that were critical of the Trump administration, including the story of people deported to countries they are not from, a look at the "pardon economy" and a report on the federal government inserting itself in elections.

CBS BOSS FUELS LEFT-WING UPROAR AMID REPORT SHE URGED STAFF TO PROBE ALLEGED EL-SAYED, MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD TIES

CBS’ parent company, Paramount, named Weiss the editor-in-chief of CBS News in 2025 following the company’s acquisition of The Free Press for $150 million. The hiring infuriated liberal journalists and media figures, as Weiss’ outlet has made waves for supporting Israel and challenging DEI and gender ideology.

CBS News declined comment.

Rather also told Variety he wasn’t familiar with Weiss before she took control of CBS News even though he criticized the network for hiring her only days after she landed the gig last year.

"The American people will pay the price for this move, as will the journalists of CBS News who can no longer credibly serve as watchdogs because the ones they are meant to hold to account are signing their paychecks and hobnobbing with the president," Rather wrote on his Substack page. "It is a dark day in the halls of CBS News."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital’s Joseph A. Dallas has a major advantage in health in this game. The Cowboys will have Dak Prescott under center, and he has all of his major receiving options. Dallas will need to figure out their defense in this game. They’ve already lost to one backup quarterback this season, and their team has allowed 382.5 yards per game to opponents.

The Eagles are hurting both with their record and physically. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out, Saquon Barkley is listed as questionable, and DeVonta Smith is out for the game. Even if Barkley plays, he hasn’t always looked effective this season. Smith is the leading receiver and most targeted on the team. Hurts gives the team a different dynamic for Philadelphia and his legs, and arm, will be missed in the game.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Odds

Odds are subject to change

Brewers vs. Rays | Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 ET | Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL | FOX

The Brewers have won the first two games of this series and now look to put themselves on the verge of sweeping Tampa. Milwaukee has looked ridiculously good this postseason, and they continue to find ways to win even after they go down. They have more come-from-behind wins this postseason than they do regular wins.

The Rays are still a very good team, and they’ve been one of the best home teams in baseball this season. Tampa has gone 4-1 in the playoffs at home this year. They send out one of their best starters to the mound, with Freddy Peralta throwing. The Rays need to find a way to get a win here, or they will have their season on the line for the remaining four games (if necessary).

Brewers vs. Rays Odds

Odds are subject to change

Bet on either game with BetMGM, and new users who use promo code FOXNEWS can earn up to $1,500 in bonus bets if their first wager loses.

Dem bucks party over alleged Alaska vote-siphoning effort: 'Neither party should be doing it'

The Justice Department has intervened due to concerns over ballot confusion between two candidates by the same name

Iowa Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rob Sand is criticizing an alleged effort by Democrats to "siphon" votes from a Republican senator, calling the tactic "manipulating the political system" as the controversy consumes Alaska's bruising Senate race.

Sand was asked by Fox News about allegations that Democrats have boosted unaffiliated Alaska Senate candidate Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., whose name closely resembles that of incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, in an effort to draw votes away from the senator.

"Both parties are doing it and neither party should be doing it," Sand told Fox News in an exclusive interview Sunday. "To me, it's manipulating the political system and it's not a good thing to do."

TOP ELECTION SCHEMES ROILING KEY MIDTERM RACES AS BOTH PARTIES ACCUSE RIVALS OF TRICKERY

The unusual candidacy has become the center of an escalating legal and political fight in Alaska, where the Justice Department has intervened, arguing that the similarity between the candidates' names could confuse voters. On the ballot, the Republican incumbent appears as "Dan S. Sullivan," identified as a Republican and the incumbent, while his unaffiliated challenger appears as "Daniel J. Sullivan Jr."

Republicans argue the similarity could cause some voters intending to support the senator to instead select his unaffiliated challenger, accusing Democratic operatives of helping elevate Daniel J. Sullivan to "siphon" votes from the GOP incumbent. Democrats have blasted the Trump administration's intervention, while Daniel J. Sullivan has denied that he is a Democratic plant.

TRUMP SAYS 'WE ARE LOOKING INTO' OTHER DAN SULLIVAN ON ALASKA BALLOT, WARNS ABOUT GOVERNOR'S RACE

Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the Trump administration’s lawsuit seeking to block certification of Alaska’s Senate results if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses to his Democratic opponent, Mary Peltola.

The administration says the lawsuit is intended to address the possible voter confusion, but Peltola called the case "flagrant corruption," while Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has called it "an outrage."

MANCHIN CALLS SCHUMER 'CRAZY' FOR TRYING TO OUST GOP SENATOR IN CRUCIAL SENATE SHOWDOWN

"This is an outrage," Schumer said on social media about the suit.
ESPN fumbles the Holy War by forcing Utah and BYU into a dreaded early-morning kickoff for fans

ESPN scheduled the Big 12 rivalry with major college football playoff ramifications in the earliest window on November 7th

The annual 'Holy War' between Utah and BYU deserves better.

Once we get to this part of the season, television networks have to obviously start picking what they think are the most opportune times to broadcast some of the most important games they have under contract.

But, that doesn’t mean companies need to sacrifice and give into the pressure of opposing conference games in order to get the better rating. And yes, I understand ESPN has the television rights to SEC and Big 12 football, so decisions like this are not easy for the programming department.

LINCOLN RILEY'S TENURE SHOULD END WITH LOSS AGAINST OHIO STATE'S BACKUP QB, WITH A $70 MILLION BUYOUT

Though, making Utah and BYU play at 10 a.m. local time feels criminal in this case, given the ramifications around this Big 12 game that has major CFP implications.

If you haven’t seen the news yet, here is how ESPN decided what was best for the November 7th slate of games that are filled with must-see showdowns.

MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS: ARCH MANNING LIKES THE DISRESPECT, BIG 12'S DISASTER AND A CFP RACE IN DISARRAY

BYU vs. Utah: 12 p.m ET on ABC/ESPN

Texas vs. Missouri: 12 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN

Alabama vs. LSU: 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC

Kentucky vs. Tennessee: 6:15 p.m. ET on ESPN

Georgia vs. Ole Miss: 7:30 p.m ET on ABC

And, NBC will broadcast the Miami vs. Notre Dame showdown at 7:30 pm ET, while Oregon will face Ohio State at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

College football fans deserved a night-game showdown in Utah

So, that left the important Big 12 game between the Cougars and Utes as the odd-teams out of this television equation that will see a plethora of top-25 showdowns take place on the same day.

Look, I get that ESPN was put into a spot, but this could have easily been handled by the network putting the anticipated 'Holy War' in the 9:30 pm ET time slot after Kentucky faced-off with Tennessee on ESPN.

It should also be noted that the Big 12 essentially gets the 3rd round pick on these weekends, and BYU just lost to UCF this past Saturday.

But, make it a 10:00 p.m. ET kickoff on the network, which is essentially what took place this past weekend when Houston played Utah in Salt Lake City.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

We should be awarding the fans in college football with a better situation than having them walk into the stadium at 8-9 a.m local time for a highly-anticipated rivalry game with so much on the line.

This almost feels criminal to make both fanbases wake up this early for a top-25 showdown with CFP ramifications.

Cougars vs. Utes should’ve been played after the SEC slate

For this, ESPN should have put this game in the late window, even if they were sacrificing some of the ratings that were undoubtably coming their way.

Did the network honestly think a large portion of the college football base would not stay up for a late kickoff that came after Notre Dame played Miami, or Georgia faced Ole Miss in primetime?

I also understand the conundrum ESPN was in regarding this kickoff time, but both Utah and BYU deserved better.

This one is a loss, no matter how the networks come out of this

I'd imagine those within the Big 12 office in Texas are fuming at this decision, and rightfully so.

Brazilian election sends US progressives into online fever as key irregularity stokes result uncertainty

Progressives hailed Lula's fourth term while critics questioned a Supreme Court voting extension granted before polls closed

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's victory securing a fourth term spurred a social media firestorm Monday morning as progressives in the United States celebrated his win from afar.

"Yesterday, Brazil showed the world that the will of the people is stronger than the authoritarians who try to suppress it," Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said in a post to X. "Congratulations, President [Lula] and congratulations Brazil."

Progressives have framed Lula’s victory as a transnational repudiation of what they regard as the core politics of the Trump administration and its allies. But questions about the election remain after one of Brazil's Supreme Court justices granted a last-minute extension of the country's polling hours, prompting Lula's opponent to question the legitimacy of the outcome.

In the waning hours of the election, Lula requested a two-hour extension of voting hours from the country’s Supreme Court, citing delayed public transportation services. Less than half an hour before the polls were scheduled to close, Supreme Court Justice Christiano Zanin granted the extension nationwide, prompting an outcry from Flávio Bolsonaro, Lula’s opponent.

CONSERVATIVE WAVE HITS ROADBLOCK IN BRAZIL AS LULA HOLDS OFF BOLSONARO CHALLENGE

"What happened today was not normal. It was something frankly unacceptable. A Supreme Court justice, for the first time in history — a former lawyer of Lula’s — issues an order at the request of a former partner of his and changes the rules of the game in the middle of the game," Bolsonaro said in a statement.

Notably, Bolsonaro's campaign also asked for an extension, citing heavy rain.

Election experts in the country, speaking with local media, said the inclement weather and polling extension could provide grounds for a legal challenge to the election.

"There is the possibility of requesting the annulment of the election. The deluge that fell in Santa Catarina and Paraná caused harm. The lack of buses and the restriction of public transportation in strategic cities, such as Salvador and São Paulo, harmed the right to vote," Guilherme Gonçalves, an attorney and member of the Brazilian Academy of Electoral and Political Law, told Brazilian outlet GZH.

Another expert, while casting doubt on whether a legal challenge would ultimately succeed, said uncertainty over the election would continue.

"It is difficult for it to succeed, but the point is that the [Supreme Court] contributed to the instability of the electoral process, which is serious," Guilherme Barcelos, an attorney with a doctorate in constitutional law and specialization in electoral law, told GZH. "The election does not end today. That is the point."

In the meantime, several Republican figures back in the U.S. blasted the outcome. Martin De Luca, an attorney representing some of President Donald Trump’s media groups, accused Lula of benefiting from his political connections to the Supreme Court.

"Yesterday Brazil showed the world that if you are losing an election and you need to turn it around, you can call on your former lawyer turned judge to give you a lift and you’ll still be congratulated by all who share the cause," De Luca wrote.

Donald Trump Jr. echoed De Luca's criticism in a reply to his post.

"If a conservative government in Brazil did this, everyone in the mainstream press in America would lose their minds, but I guess they’re just choosing to be silent because it’s all for the cause," Trump Jr. said.

BLANCHE WON'T RULE OUT DOJ BLOCKING ELECTION CERTIFICATION IN 'DOOMSDAY' SCENARIO

"Brazil did not have an election today. They had their country stolen from them by a criminal band of corrupt hacks who belong in jail," Joey Mannarino, the co-founder of the Overton Institute, a conservative-leaning think tank, wrote.

During his campaign, Bolsonaro built momentum on promises to increase public safety by expanding prison capacity and drastically cut the size of government through a 25% reduction in government ministries — policies that many Democrats viewed as mirroring efforts by the Trump administration.

By contrast, Lula has advocated for anti-poverty programs, minimum-wage increases and expanded assistance for low-income families.

The platform drew praise from progressive groups including the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

"It is with tremendous pride that the Democratic Socialists of America congratulate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin … and the coalition of progressive and leftists parties on their victory and re-election in Brazil’s second round of presidential elections this past Sunday," the group wrote in a press release.

TRUMP'S WAR ON DRUG CARTELS COULD GAIN POWERFUL NEW ALLY AFTER PIVOTAL ELECTION

"We commend the wide range of forces that joined together … to defend Brazilian democracy and secure this victory."

Other prominent progressives also celebrated Lula’s victory as a triumph for policies aligned with their own.

"Lula has stood up for Brazilian workers and democracy — and will continue to do so in the next four years," Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., wrote in a post to X.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"People all across the world are fighting back against extremism.
McDonald's McRib returns for limited time, but customers in some cities will miss out

Fan-favorite barbecue pork sandwich returns to select McDonald's restaurants on Oct. 27

Illegal immigrant accused of beheading Iwo Jima monument granted bond

Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano was granted bond in Prince William County Circuit Court

The man accused of using a sledgehammer to behead a Marine figure on an Iwo Jima monument near Quantico, Virginia, was granted bond Monday morning.

Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano, 27, was granted bond in Prince William County Circuit Court. His next court date is expected to be scheduled soon.

Maldonado Soriano, a Mexican illegal alien and former Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient, is charged with felony destruction of property, trespass with intent to damage property and felony injury to a monument.

ILLEGAL ALIEN WITH FORMER DACA STATUS ACCUSED IN IWO JIMA STATUE ATTACK: SOURCES

He was arrested last week after allegedly using a sledgehammer to damage the World War II monument near Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded at about 10:13 p.m. on Oct. 21 and allegedly found Maldonado Soriano striking the monument with a sledgehammer.

Authorities said the limestone sculpture sustained extensive damage, including the complete removal of one Marine figure's head.

ANGEL MOM CONFRONTS INDIAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TRUCK DRIVER WHO KILLED HER SON, HIS WIFE IN OREGON CRASH

Other figures depicted raising the American flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima were also damaged.

Police estimated that the damage would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair.

Federal sources previously told Fox News that Maldonado Soriano illegally crossed into the U.S. in December 1999 and was granted DACA under the Obama administration in 2014.

‘BONNIE AND CLYDE’ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT COUPLE ACCUSED OF BRAZEN JEWELRY THEFT SPREE ACROSS FOUR STATES

His DACA status was extended under the Biden administration in 2024 before expiring in August 2026 after it was not renewed under the Trump administration.

The damaged 9-foot limestone statue depicts the iconic flag-raising on Mount Suribachi during the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

It was sculpted by Felix de Weldon, who later created the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

Fox News Digital's Emma Bussey and Fox News' Bill Melugin contributed to this report.

Man found dead on Disneyland property near entrance to 'Happiest Place on Earth'

Anaheim police say the 65-year-old was known to the department's homeless liaison officers through prior outreach contacts

A 65-year-old man was found dead over the weekend on Disneyland property in Anaheim, California, casting a grim scene near an entrance to the resort famously billed as the "Happiest Place on Earth."

Anaheim police responded shortly before 1:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of an unconscious man near the resort's south entrance off Katella Avenue, Sgt. Eric Anderson told Fox News Digital on Monday.

Officers found the man unconscious on a sidewalk between the resort hotels and a park entrance, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police found no signs of trauma or foul play, and his death appeared to be from natural causes, Anderson said.

DISNEY WORLD GUEST WITH HEART CONDITION DIES OF CARDIAC EMERGENCY AFTER ICONIC RIDE

The sidewalk where the man was found is on Disneyland property rather than public land. The south entrance is separate from Disneyland's main entrance and was established in an area near resort hotels to provide guests staying nearby easier access to the park.

The man's identity has not been released, though Anderson said any identification would likely come from the coroner's office.

FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X

Anderson said the Anaheim Police Department's homeless liaison officers regularly make contact with people experiencing homelessness in the area, checking on their well-being, offering assistance and letting them know when they may be violating the law.

SIGN UP TO GET THE LATEST TRUE CRIME NEWS

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM THE FOX TRUE CRIME HUB

The now deceased 65-year-old had previously come into contact with those officers and was known to them before Sunday's incident.

SEND US A TIP

Those previous interactions were part of the department's outreach to the homeless population and were not related to arrests or other criminal activity, Anderson explained.

GOT A TIP?

After the man was found, officers remained at the scene while they waited for personnel from the coroner's office to arrive and remove his body. The coroner's office will also be responsible for determining the cause of death.

DISNEY SCARE UNFOLDS AFTER TEEN EXITS LOG RIDE MOMENTS BEFORE 50-FOOT PLUNGE

LISTEN TO THE NEW 'CRIME & JUSTICE WITH DONNA ROTUNNO' PODCAST

A beer can was found near the man, though investigators did not know whether it had any connection to his condition or death, Anderson said.

GET BREAKING NEWS BY EMAIL

Photos and video from the scene showed police tape stretched across the sidewalk beneath a large Disneyland Resort entrance sign, while a black privacy screen shielded the area from view as authorities investigated.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Disneyland Resort Media Relations confirmed Anaheim police responded but did not address additional questions about the incident, instead referring Fox News Digital to the police department.

Let’s see what the Brewers need to do in order to win the game, and what the Rays need to do in order to counter.

The biggest key for the Brewers in this game is to see if their bullpen can keep their excellent pitching alive. Aaron Ashby has been lights-out, but the broadcast even brought up how the hitters have seen him multiple times now. Perhaps they can pick something up from him. So, maybe the Brewers need to adjust who he throws to, or who they use from the bullpen in general.

The Rays need to find a way to get a hit when they have a runner in scoring position. Tampa has been great this season, and while they’ve scored reasonably well, they seem like they can’t get that key hit to give them the lead they need. Even if the Rays get the lead, they will need to find the right matchups out of their own bullpen to keep the lead.

Which team will crack the code? The Brewers clearly have the upper hand. The Rays are one of the teams that has had plenty of success at home, will they get more tonight?

Betr is giving new users $200 in bonus bets with promo code FOXNEWS.

Brewers vs. Rays Odds

Odds are subject to change

Tonight will have a bit of extra intrigue because the Eagles are so banged up. The Cowboys are healthy, but haven’t looked much better than last season. Which team will come out on top in tonight’s Monday Night Football game?

The Cowboys come into the game with a 2-4 record for the season. They started the year with a loss to the Giants, but then they beat the Commanders with ease in Week 2. The past four weeks have been a bit rough. They lost to the Ravens, beat the Texans, then lost to the Buccaneers, and Packers in back-to-back weeks.

The Eagles have an identical 2-4 record, but they started the year with two wins and have lost each of the past four weeks. They started with a win over the Commanders, and then they beat the Titans. The win against Washington was good, but the win over the Titans was a bit more questionable. In the past four weeks, they lost to the Bears, Rams, Jaguars, and Panthers.

This will be the second week that the Eagles will be playing without Jalen Hurts. Can the Cowboys take advantage of the hurting Eagles, or will Philadelphia rally behind their backups and get the victory?

Betr is offering new users promo code FOXNEWS to earn $200 in bonuses and four sweat-free picks.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Odds

Odds are subject to change

American tourist falls 1,000 feet to her death while chasing perfect mountain photo

Alpine rescue teams and air ambulance responded after witnesses called emergency services

A family vacation in northern Italy ended in tragedy when a 36-year-old American tourist fell down a steep mountain face in the Dolomites, Italy.

Michelle Alejandra Rubio Leiva, a marketing and business development professional from the Miami area, died Oct. 17 after stepping off a marked trail, local news outlets reported.

Rubio Leiva was hiking near Forcella Pordoi, an alpine pass with an altitude of roughly 9, 000 feet, when she allegedly left the designated path to find a vantage point for a photograph, Italian national newspaper Corriere Della Sera reported.

THOUSANDS SWARM STUNNING MOUNTAIN ESCAPE AS SELFIE TOURISM BACKLASH ERUPTS ONLINE

She lost her footing and fell an estimated 1, 000 feet down the slope in view of her sister, the outlet said.

The hiking group had been close to the upper cable-car station and originally planned to visit the Maria refuge on Sass Pordoi, local news outlet Il Dolomiti noted.

While Italian media cited her attempt to take a picture, the official alpine rescue logs noted only that she slipped at an exposed point on the mountain.

Witnesses contacted emergency responders shortly before noon, The Daily Record reported.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER

The 112 control center dispatched the Alta Val di Fassa team of the Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service, alongside an air ambulance, according to the Record.

A mountain rescuer already in the vicinity went to the scene to provide the helicopter crew with exact coordinates, Italian regional news outlet Il Dolomiti reported.

Medical personnel were lowered onto the mountainside by 12:30 p. m., where a doctor pronounced Rubio Leiva dead at the scene, according to Fox San Antonio.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

Her family members were airlifted to the nearby town of Canazei, Il Dolomiti said. Her body was retrieved by helicopter and handed over to local authorities, News.com.au said.

The Brigham Young University graduate worked as a manager for Rubio Contesse Advisors in Florida, according to Corriere della Sera, a major Italian newspaper.

In recent months, the Dolomites have come under scrutiny for the massive crowds stretching through shuttle lines as visitors wait to reach Tre Cime di Lavaredo, one of the most iconic destinations.

Viral videos have led to outrage online, with many commenters arguing that visitors were more interested in taking photos than enjoying the mountains, Fox News Digital previously reported.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Tre Cime di Lavaredo draws visitors from around the world with its trio of mountain peaks.

The UNESCO-protected mountains are subject to the Enrosadira phenomenon, in which sunrise and sunset turn the rock walls a vibrant pink and orange, according to The Dolomites — UNESCO World Heritage Centre page.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo gets over 800,000 visitors per year, per the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Hike Guide.

Kelly McGreal of Fox News Digital contributed reporting.

ROBERT F KENNEDY JR, DR MEHMET OZ: 250 hospitals join the fight for healthier food

Hospitals should be places where every aspect of the patient experience supports health and healing. The food hospitals serve on a patient’s tray should support that goal

When Americans enter a hospital, they expect to receive care that helps them heal. They trust their doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible treatments and give them the greatest chance of recovery.

Yet too often, the food our nation’s hospitals serve contradicts that mission.

Patients recovering from surgery, living with chronic diseases or managing serious medical conditions may be served hospital meals featuring highly processed foods, refined carbohydrates, added sugars and other ingredients that do little to support their recovery.

RFK JR HAILS FIRST US HOSPITAL TO PROMISE HEALTHIER MEALS: 'WE HAVE A TEMPLATE'

It’s a contradiction that should concern every American. And it’s one we’re determined to change.

Today, we announce that 250 hospitals across the United States have joined the Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge, a nationwide initiative the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched to improve the nutritional quality of meals that hospitals serve to patients and staff.

AOC SAYS MAHA ADVOCATES' FIGHT 'ISN'T PARTISAN' AS SHE BLASTS HEALTHCARE SYSTEM FOR FUELING 'A TON OF ANXIETY'

These commitments reflect a growing recognition among America’s healthcare leaders that food is an essential part of good medicine, and hospitals should demonstrate that through the meals they serve.

Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the Make America Healthy Again movement is fundamentally rethinking the role of nutrition in American healthcare.

But transforming American healthcare requires more than changing federal policies; it requires changing the environments in which Americans receive care.

Hospitals can help change those environments. They care for our most vulnerable citizens, educate millions of patients and families, and earn their communities’ trust.

Nutrition is central to each of these responsibilities.

For patients recovering from surgery, fighting infections or managing chronic illnesses, proper nutrition can support wound healing, preserve muscle mass, strengthen immune function and improve recovery. Malnutrition, by contrast, correlates with longer hospital stays, more complications and greater healthcare costs.

THIS AMOUNT OF DELI MEAT ASSOCIATED WITH HIGHER DEMENTIA RISK IN COMPELLING NEW REVIEW

Hospitals also have an opportunity to teach patients habits that can improve their health long after discharge.

Consider a patient who enters the hospital for complications of Type 2 diabetes. That patient may receive excellent medical treatment and counseling about the importance of healthy eating. But if the meals the hospital serves during their stay contradict that advice, what message are we sending?

A hospital meal should reinforce the care plan, not undermine it.

There are approximately 6,100 hospitals in the United States, collectively accounting for more than 35 million hospital admissions each year. The broader American healthcare foodservice market represents nearly $20 billion in annual economic activity.

That’s extraordinary purchasing power.

Hospitals are among the largest customers of major foodservice management companies, food distributors and manufacturers. Their purchasing decisions influence which products suppliers develop, how suppliers price those products and what becomes available to other institutions.

Imagine what could happen if hospitals across America began sending a consistent message to their suppliers: We want more real food. We want healthier proteins, fruits, vegetables and minimally processed ingredients. We want fewer products with added sugars and unnecessary additives.

The food industry would have a powerful incentive to respond.

As demand grows, suppliers can expand production, improve distribution networks and invest in healthier product offerings. Larger purchasing volumes and more predictable demand can also create economies of scale, potentially reducing costs and making nutritious food more affordable.

Other institutions could also benefit.

The same foodservice companies supplying hospitals often serve schools, universities, workplaces and other institutions. Improvements in their product offerings and supply chains could help make healthier food more accessible throughout American society.

Hospitals could improve their patients’ health and help transform the nation’s food system.

With more than 250 hospitals now participating, we’re beginning to demonstrate what healthcare institutions can accomplish together. We recognize that hospitals face real operational challenges. Hospital supply chains are complex, and patients have diverse medical and nutritional needs.

That’s why the Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge is voluntary and collaborative.

We are not interested in Washington dictating hospital menus or second-guessing the clinical judgment of physicians and registered dietitians. Hospitals must retain the flexibility to meet patients’ individual nutritional requirements, including those who need specialized therapeutic diets or medical nutrition support.

Our goal is to get hospitals across the country to improve the nutritional quality of their meals together.

We are grateful for the partnership of the American Hospital Association and the many healthcare systems that have joined this effort. Their leadership demonstrates that change does not always require new mandates, complicated regulations or additional administrative burdens. Sometimes, it begins with a shared commitment.

Hospitals should be places where every aspect of the patient experience supports health and healing. The food hospitals serve on a patient’s tray should support that goal.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Two hundred and fifty hospitals have already committed to serving healthier food. Now, we’re calling on the rest of America’s hospitals to join them.

Mehmet Oz, M.D., M.B.A., is the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Data brokers don't just collect facts. They guess about you

Data brokers use personal information to predict health, finances and vulnerabilities, guesses that could put you at risk

They know where you live. They may know your phone number, your relatives' names and roughly what your house is worth. By now, most people have at least a vague sense that data brokers collect personal information. What many don't realize is what happens next.

Data brokers also analyze that information. They use algorithms, compare records from different sources and sort people into categories that predict their interests, circumstances and behavior. Those predictions can involve your health, finances, religious beliefs and potential vulnerabilities.

WHY CAREFUL PEOPLE STILL END UP ON DATA BROKER SITES

Some may be wrong. Others could reveal sensitive details you never intended to share. And depending on the company and the type of information involved, those profiles may be sold or shared with businesses you have never heard of. Here's a closer look at the labels data brokers assign to you, how they come up with them and what you can do to protect your personal information.

Join our upcoming CyberGuy LIVE class: 5 Ways to Travel Smarter and Save Money

In this free live online class, Kurt "CyberGuy" Knutsson will share five practical ways to protect your trip and your wallet this holiday travel season. You’ll learn how to secure your phone and personal information, find better travel deals, avoid common scams, save money on bookings and use technology to make your travels easier and less stressful. No technical experience is needed.

Join us Saturday, October 31, at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT. Some build detailed profiles designed to help advertisers identify specific audiences. The Federal Trade Commission documented this practice years ago. Its investigation found that brokers combined information from multiple sources to infer sensitive characteristics, including income, religion, political views and health conditions.

Acxiom, a major data company, developed a segmentation system called PersonicX that grouped households into lifestyle categories. One documented historical category was called "Rural Everlasting." According to the FTC, it described older adults with relatively low income and educational attainment. Other categories included "Urban Scramble" and "Mobile Mixers."

These were classifications built from data, not personal descriptions written by the people involved. The FTC also documented how companies used location information to create even more specific advertising audiences. For example, InMarket offered audience categories such as "Christian church goers," "parents of preschoolers," and "wealthy and not healthy." The FTC subsequently restricted InMarket's use and sale of sensitive location data.

Then there was Oracle's BlueKai advertising business, which helped advertisers use extensive consumer data for targeting. Oracle shut down its advertising products in September 2024. Still, its history illustrates how sophisticated this industry became. The important point is that a label doesn't have to be accurate to influence how a company views you.

Want to see how much of your personal information may already be exposed? Others are surprisingly personal. Here are examples of the information brokers have historically inferred or used to create consumer segments.

Health-related labels

Data broker research and enforcement cases have documented categories involving:

Diabetes and related health interests

Pregnancy

High cholesterol

Health and wellness behavior

Financial status combined with health-related assumptions

A major concern is that these classifications can originate outside the medical system. HIPAA protects health information handled by covered healthcare organizations and their business associates. However, health-related information independently gathered or inferred by other businesses may fall outside HIPAA's protections.

For example, searching for information about diabetes doesn't mean you have diabetes. You could be researching the condition for a family member. Yet advertising systems may still use that activity as one of several signals when building a profile. Other federal and state privacy laws may apply, but they don't necessarily provide the same protections as HIPAA.

AMAZON ABOUT YOU MAY KNOW YOU A LITTLE TOO WELL

Financial labels

Data companies have also offered categories based on estimated income, spending behavior and financial circumstances. These can include people classified as affluent, price-sensitive or likely to respond to certain financial offers. One particularly troubling example comes from the Justice Department's case against Epsilon Data Management. According to federal prosecutors, Epsilon used sophisticated modeling to identify consumers likely to respond to solicitations. The company sold information about more than 30 million Americans to operators of fraudulent schemes, including fake sweepstakes promotions. Epsilon agreed to pay $150 million as part of its deferred prosecution agreement. This is a documented example of consumer data being used to help fraudsters identify potential victims.

Religious and political labels

Data brokers have also inferred people's religious interests and political leanings. These predictions may draw on information such as location patterns, purchases, public records and other available data. For example, the FTC documented the use of a "Christian church goers" advertising segment. A person visiting a church doesn't necessarily belong to that faith. Similarly, someone researching a political candidate doesn't automatically support that candidate. Nevertheless, profiling systems can use these signals to group people into audiences.

Life-stage labels

Another category focuses on what may be happening in your personal life. Data companies have developed segments involving parents with young children, empty nesters and households at different stages of life. These classifications can help businesses decide what products or services to advertise. However, they can also reveal potential pressure points. Someone approaching retirement may receive different financial offers than a young parent. A household believed to be managing health expenses may attract another type of marketing. And when those assumptions are wrong, the resulting profile may still influence what someone sees.

How data brokers make guesses about you

Consider what you've done online recently. Maybe you searched for joint pain relief. Perhaps you compared retirement plans or looked up treatment options for a relative. Individually, these activities might reveal very little. However, companies can combine information from websites, apps, purchase histories, public records and commercial databases.

Then predictive models look for patterns. For example, a company may consider your age range, estimated income and browsing activity when deciding whether you fit a particular advertising category. These classifications are often called modeled attributes or inferences. They represent predictions rather than verified personal facts. And here's the problem: a company buying access to an audience segment may use the prediction without knowing how accurately it describes each person.

How scammers use personal data to make attacks more convincing

Basic information helps a scammer contact you. More detailed personal information can help make the approach believable. For example, someone who knows your name and address could send a convincing-looking financial notice. Now suppose that same person also has information suggesting you're approaching retirement or researching medical expenses. A criminal could use those clues to tailor a fraudulent Medicare offer, investment pitch or fake medical service.

This doesn't mean every scammer buys sophisticated consumer profiles. However, the Justice Department's case against Epsilon Data Management shows how targeted consumer information can end up in the hands of fraudsters. The company sold consumer data to operators of fraudulent schemes, helping them identify people more likely to respond.

Meanwhile, the FBI reported that Americans age 60 and older lost approximately $7.7 billion to internet crime in 2025, up from $4.9 billion in 2024. While those losses weren't all connected to data brokers, the documented sale of targeted consumer lists shows how personal information can help criminals identify potential victims and make their scams more convincing.

Can you see what data brokers have predicted about you?

Finding every profile attached to your name can be difficult. Unlike a credit report, there isn't one centralized system where you can review all the marketing predictions companies have generated about you. However, some state privacy laws give residents rights to access, correct or delete personal information, including certain inferences.

California provides one important example. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, eligible residents can request information held by covered businesses, subject to legal exceptions. California also launched its Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, known as DROP at privacy.ca.gov/DROP/, in January 2026.

It allows eligible California residents to submit one deletion request covering registered data brokers. Those companies began processing requests in August 2026. Matching records, including inferences, generally must be deleted unless an exception applies. Other states have different privacy protections, so your options depend on where you live.

IS YOUR PERSONAL DATA CHANGING WHAT YOU PAY ONLINE?

How to reduce what data brokers know about you

You may not be able to eliminate every prediction about yourself. However, you can take practical steps to reduce how much personal information remains available.

Here's where to start:

Search for your personal information. Look up your name, phone number and home address on people-search websites.

Submit removal requests. Use the opt-out processes offered by data brokers and people-search services.

Review your privacy rights. Check whether your state allows you to request access, correction, deletion or an opt-out from data sales.

Limit unnecessary sharing. Review the information you provide to apps, shopping websites and online services.

Check your family members' exposure. Relatives' names, addresses and phone numbers can appear together in people-search databases.

Consider an automated removal service. Ongoing removal requests can help address information that reappears over time. Check out my top picks for data removal services and get a free scan to find out if your personal information is already out on the web by visiting CyberGuy.com.

Reducing publicly accessible personal information can make it harder for unfamiliar businesses and scammers to build detailed profiles. However, removal services cannot guarantee that every existing inference will disappear or prevent companies from collecting new information.

Kurt's key takeaways

I've warned you before about data brokers collecting your personal information, but I find the predictions they make about us even more troubling. Think about it. You could search for a medical condition on behalf of someone you love and end up in a category suggesting you have that condition yourself. Someone buying access to that profile may have no idea the assumption is wrong. And when personal information gets into the wrong hands, it can help scammers make their pitches sound much more convincing. What concerns me is how little most of us know about the profiles being built around our names. You may never see every label a company assigns to you, but you can start reducing the information available to build those profiles. I recommend checking what appears when you search for yourself and taking advantage of the privacy protections available in your state. A reputable data removal service can also help by automatically sending removal requests to data brokers and continuing to check when your information reappears. You won't disappear from the internet, but you can make it harder for strangers to assemble a detailed profile of your life.

What would concern you more, a data broker accurately predicting something deeply personal about you or selling a completely false prediction as if it were fact?
Somali rap promising to 'scatter' enemies underscores Omar's serene lakeside video

Lyrics boast 'no enemy dares threaten me' as Omar faces a criminal investigation into potential immigration fraud

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., posted a serene lakeside video Friday set to a Somali hip-hop song whose lyrics boast of enemies scattering and being "crushed," days after federal agents searched her Washington home as part of a criminal investigation.

"Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes," the embattled congresswoman wrote on X in a post made at the end of last week.

She attached a video of herself and her husband, Tim Mynett, walking on a dock over a lake with vibrant fall foliage in the background. The pair posed, smiled and appeared to chat as they serenely strolled across the dock, looking fondly at each other as the lawmaker running for reelection held a coffee. It ended with a montage of images from their walk.

But a loud Somali hip-hop song accompanying the video told a much different story.

ILHAN OMAR DOUBLES DOWN ON ‘REAL NAME’ WHEN CONFRONTED AT MALL OF SOMALIA

"Let me reveal who I really am. No enemy dares threaten me, wherever I step, they scatter," the lyrics to the song say in Somali, according to a translation obtained by Fox News Digital. "They flee and stay far away. I have always been the source of their distress."

The song, "Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya," is by Ilkacase Qays, whose real name is Muse Abdikadir. His website describes him as a "U.S. based Somali singer, rapper and activist." The duet-style track features Somali singer Hodan Abdirahman.

A cultural analysis of the song says it is "a powerful example of Somali lyrical poetry built around pride, bravery, personal dignity and unwavering trust in Allah."

"A fool’s words carry no weight," the lyrics say. "Those I have angered now insult me. If the just one had felt anger on my behalf, would he not have crushed the enemy underfoot? With the strength the almighty has given me, If I draw on it late in the afternoon, by evening, I will have taught you a lesson."

FEDERAL AGENTS RAID ILHAN OMAR’S DC HOME AMID IMMIGRATION FRAUD INVESTIGATION

The analysis describes the artist as using "exaggerated imagery to ridicule his opponents, portraying them as people who would lose sleep, suffer humiliation, and even seek supernatural assistance out of desperation."

"You go without sleep, overcome with anguish, weeping in spite," the lyrics continued. "You howl like a demon through the night, because you cannot match me! Swallow your anger and choke on it if the just one had felt anger on my behalf."

Omar, who sources say is actually named Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, reemerged in Minnesota on Friday. It came after nearly two weeks out of the public eye following an Oct. 12, 2026, raid on her Washington, D.C., home, conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents.

Members of the media followed her intently as she cast an early ballot alongside state Attorney General Keith Ellison at a polling place in Minneapolis on Friday. The pair then appeared at the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minneapolis, where they enjoyed lunch among members of the Somali community and posed for photographs.

HOMAN SAYS ILHAN OMAR COULD BE STRIPPED OF NATURALIZATION, DEPORTED IF IMMIGRATION FRAUD IS PROVEN

Later in the day, Omar posted the video to X. It is unclear when it was filmed.

The Somali-born Minnesota lawmaker restricted who can respond directly to her social media post, with the only publicly facing comment being from ousted former U.S. House "Squad" member Cori Bush, who wrote: "We love this."

Omar is being investigated for potential fraud related to immigration paperwork filled out by her or her father when she was becoming a United States citizen. HSI is the main investigatory agency for the Department of Homeland Security.

During the raid, Omar's passport and cellphone were confiscated by federal agents.

Her sister, Sahra Noor, was interviewed by federal investigators in the wake of the raid. Federal agents have also obtained Omar's DNA, Fox News reported.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

If fraud is proven, Omar could be denaturalized, border czar Tom Homan said last week.

The Rays have looked good too, but not quite as good as the Brewers. Tampa won’t be eliminated with a loss tonight, but they need to get a win to keep realistic hopes alive.

In Game 1, the Brewers took the lead early and never looked back. Milwaukee jumping out to an early lead was all that Jacob Misiorowski needed. The Rays did make the game close, and even had the tying and go-ahead runs on base late in the game, but they couldn’t get the run across the plate.

In Game 2, it was the Rays who took charge. Helped by an error, they put up four before the Brewers even came to bat. Unfortunately for Tampa, Milwaukee answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Milwaukee then scored a run in three different innings in three different ways. That allowed the Brewers to take the lead and win Game 2.

For Game 3 of the World Series, the Brewers need to just keep doing whatever they’ve been doing. They get timely hits, they work together, and never give up. The Rays have to find a way to get to the Brewers' bullpen, and they need to get a big hit at key moments.

Underdog is offering new users a chance to wager on the game and earn $50 in bonus bets. Use promo code FOXNEWS and bet $10 on the game to receive the bonus.

Brewers vs. Rays Odds

Odds are subject to change

The Cowboys are known for throwing the ball repeatedly, but they will need to establish the ground game in hopes of getting a few more passing lanes open. Let’s take a look at the running games and opposing defenses for tonight’s game.

The Cowboys are not a running team. They have asked Prescott to throw the ball 246 times this season, compared to the team running the ball just 122 times, and 14 of those have come from Prescott. Javonte Williams is the primary back, and he does get a lot of goal-line work with seven touchdowns this season, but he isn’t a guy who will get a ton of yards at a time for the team. The Eagles are a fairly average running defense, so Dallas could have a chance to get the ground game going.

The Eagles are a running team. They don’t really want to throw the ball, but perhaps with Hurts out, they will challenge that idea. Philadelphia has thrown the ball 200 times this season, and they’ve run it 134 times, but that has more to do with them playing from behind than anything. Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in the league, but he has played in just four games and had only 36 carries this year.

The Eagles have only scored four rushing touchdowns this season, but Dallas has one of the worst rushing defenses in football. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the two teams look to establish themselves in the ground game.

New users should use promo code FOXNEWS350 to earn $350 in FanCash from Fanatics from a $20 wager.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Running Back Comparison

Sophie Cunningham's cowboy hat message has fans talking, Holly Rowe's WNBA Finals plan & Is Texas' field gray?

The WNBA star waved the flag at the Austin GP, prompting strong reactions on both sides of the political aisle

'Nightcaps' is a daily column that catches you up on the biggest sports, news, and culture stories you may have missed while pretending to do work at your desk. It runs Monday-Friday on OutKick.com.

Well, we're here, folks. The final week of October. It's an exciting time, right? Halloween in five days. The always enjoyable "Sports Equinox" tonight with all four major sports in action at the same time. Five if you want to count the WNBA.

That's up to you, though.

It's a fun time to be alive right now. That's my point. October is the best month of the year, and this is our final push until things get really hectic. I'd urge everyone to enjoy this week.

Everything shifts gears in seven days. We've got an election next Tuesday. Yuck. That'll be miserable.

More importantly (to me, at least), this is the final week until the holidays begin. And by that, I mean at midnight Saturday, everything shifts to Christmas. The commercials. The music. The department stores. It'll happen in the blink of an eye. You're gonna go to bed Saturday dreaming of Michael Myers, and wake up to insufferable Mariah Carey jamming her song down our throats.

VOLS FANS SET NOISE RECORD AND TERRIFY ALABAMA'S KALEN DEBOER, TIFF ANN'S HALLOWEEN COSTUME & DANICA STUMPS!

And there is NOTHING we can do to stop it. Nothing.

So enjoy this week. I surely will.

Let's roll.

Welcome to a Monday Nightcaps — the one where Sophie Cunningham's cowboy hat at yesterday's F1 race fired up all the PATRIOTS across this great country.

Sophie never misses.

What else? I've got ESPN's Holly Rowe with an incredible idea for the WNBA Finals, I've got a legit question about Texas' field color on TV, and was Dan Campbell's decision to go for it on fourth down yesterday as insane as everyone thinks?

I don't think so, and Dan's explanation after the game might sway you, too.

It's a thinker!

OK, grab you a pumpkin for National Pumpkin Day, and settle in for a Monday 'Cap!

Sophie popped up at F1 this weekend and didn't skip a beat

We still haven't gotten our pumpkins yet down here, but that'll be coming in the next few days. We can't just carve pumpkins and let them sit on our porch all month in Florida. They'd be rotten before breakfast on Day 3.

As for my earlier rant on the upcoming holiday season ...

Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays. I love Christmas (although Christmas Eve is the better holiday). I love the whole season. I just think it starts way to soon after Halloween.

The radio stations all play Christmas music on Nov. 1. That's insane. Every single commercial has Santa in it all of a sudden. We go from Pumpkin Spice to Peppermint Mocha at every single coffee shop in America.

There needs to be a two-week buffer, in my opinion. We wait all year for "fall," and then we're so quick to stuff it all back in the attic on Nov. 1 and jump right into winter.

And don't even get me started on the disrespect towards Thanksgiving. That's a battle I've been fighting for years now.

Anyway, the holiday season is always welcome here ... I just think it doesn't need to start on Nov. 1.

Now, let's get this week started by welcoming Sophie Cunningham back to class! No need to have a two-week buffer for Sophie!

Get a load of this idea!

"Yee MF Haw!" What a hat. What a message to send to the libs who absolutely lost their MINDS yesterday because big, bad Sophie Cunningham waved the flag at the F1 race in Austin.

And yes, they completely lost their minds. Shocking, I know. Especially for such a level-headed group!

Yet again the US races proving that F1 is still not a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community with Sophie Cunningham waving the flag and Ted Cruz giving out trophies.

Goodness, these people are just the best. They're the gift that "keeps on giving the whole year!"

Wait. That's a Christmas movie quote! I just broke my own rule. Not yet! Respect Halloween.

OK, let's get back on track and stay in the WNBA with ESPN's Holly Rowe, who has an excellent idea for where Game 6 should be held later this week:

Dan's roll of the dice & a Texas-sized question

Problem solving…. Hear me out. Game 6 in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz? Could we pack that out ATL???? @WNBA.

I nearly spit out of my Maxwell House when I read that tweet this morning. I thought it was a fake account. I thought it was satire.

It was not.

Quick, show of hands: Who thinks a WNBA game could sell out Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which holds 72,000 people? Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller?!

Come on. I know there's a lot of debate right now about attendance and ratings for these WNBA Finals. I don't care about either, because, frankly, I'm tired of talking about it. But if anyone here thinks a WNBA (!!!) game could sell out a 72,000 stadium, you're probably also setting aside room in your bank accounts for the $5,000 dividend checks from Trump.

Ain't happening.

I'm not sure the Atlanta Hawks could sell that stadium out, much less the Dream. Folks, Atlanta couldn't fill up Truist Park last month for the Braves' first two playoff games! And Holly thinks 72,000 people are showing up to watch the Dream?

Wild take. It's so wild, I almost respect it.

Almost.

OK, let's rapid-fire this Monday class into a big HALLOWEEN week. First up? You know who had the Sunday Scaries yesterday? Lions fans.

Take a look:

Dan Campbell took A LOT of heat for that decision yesterday, and I was baffled at first, too.

But I gotta say ... I get it. I agree with it!

"I knew we'd get the ball back if it didn't work out," Campbell said after the game.

He's right. Think about it. If Detroit punts the ball, Green Bay could very well march down the field, drain the rest of the clock, and kick a field goal to win the game. There's a good chance the Lions never see the ball again. It happens all the time.

By going for it, you either A) get it and the drive continues, or B) don't get it, but give them a short enough field that you're pretty much guaranteed to get the ball back with a chance to win/tie.

Detroit's defense is terrible. The offense is excellent. Dan rolled the dice and decided he'd rather have his offense end the game with the ball, one way or the other.

Chess, not checkers!

Finally, on the way out ... I've been thinking about this for years now, and it really came to a head this past Saturday ...

Why is the turf at Texas' home stadium so gray for night games on TV? It's baffled me for decades now.

So, here's the thing ... I know I dumped on the "alt-casts" last week, but I actually watched the second half of the Texas-Ole Miss game in the alternate "SkyCast" view Saturday night because a reader recommended it.

I didn't hate it. Didn't love it, but it wasn't awful. I'd imagine coaches eat it up.

Anyway, the field looked pretty normal in that broadcast. It was relatively green. I didn't notice it nearly as much as the regular broadcast.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

So, is this an ABC/ESPN camera issue? Is the field actually gray? I'm so confused. I know we have Longhorn fans in class.

Please, let me know.

And then, go have a big final week of October.

What's the deal with Texas' field? While there are plenty of storylines for the rest of the series, but most importantly for today is the matchup between the starting pitchers.

The Brewers are sending out Robert Gasser to make his first start of the World Series. Gasser has made two appearances in the postseason, and both have been very good. Gasser has thrown nine innings, allowed just six hits and one earned run over the two starts. He has also struck out six hitters. He is not quite the power pitcher the Rays have had to face in the first two games, but clearly he’s been reliable.

Tampa is sending out a former Brewer mainstay to the hill. Freddy Peralta will take the ball for Tampa, and this is his fourth start of the postseason. He has thrown 16.2 innings for the Rays and allowed just two earned runs. In his work this postseason, he gave up 12 hits and struck out 12 batters. He has also allowed seven walks. Peralta faced the Brewers earlier this season and allowed seven earned runs in 5.1 innings.

Tonight is Game 3 between Gasser and Peralta. Which team will get the edge as the Brewers look to go up 3-0, and the Rays try to get their first victory?

Fanatics Sportsbook is offering new users promo code FOXNEWS350 to earn $350 in FanCash from a $20 wager.

Brewers vs. Rays Pitching Comparison

There is certainly no love lost between the two clubs, and this is another one of the battles in their storied history. Let’s take a look at how the teams have played each other over the years and who has won more games.

This is the 135th meeting between the two squads. Dallas has had the upper hand in the all-time series, and they are 75-59-0 against the Eagles, including four postseason games. The Cowboys haven’t done very well against Philly in eight games, going just 3-5. Dallas did win their most recent match, last November.

Dak Prescott has been successful against the Eagles in his career, going 10-5 against them, but he has only played against them seven times since 2020. He went 5-2 in those games. He has the upper hand today because the Eagles will be without Jalen Hurts, who is on the injured reserve due to blood clots in his lungs.

Tonight brings two teams each searching for a win and a path back to the postseason. Prescott and the Cowboys have struggled on the road, but the Eagles are without many key players tonight.

Underdog is offering new users a chance to wager on the game tonight with promo code FOXNEWS. Bet $10 and earn $50 in bonus bets.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Odds

Odds are subject to change

Colorado pro-life sidewalk counselor battles state 'bubble law' she says curtails First Amendment

Sidewalk counselor goes to court against state restriction barring approaching people outside abortion clinics

A Colorado woman who offers abortion alternatives outside clinics is battling a state law that prohibits her from approaching someone too closely, warning the rule has turned what she considers a compassionate conversation into a legal risk.

Wendy Faustin, a pro-life sidewalk counselor challenging Colorado's so-called "bubble law," told Fox News Digital the restrictions prevent her from quietly offering women information about pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies and other alternatives to abortion.

"If you're within 100 feet of the entrance to an abortion clinic, I can't approach someone within 8 feet to give them any alternative information," Faustin said.

Last July, a federal judge rejected her challenge to the Colorado law. Her case is currently on appeal at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

CHRISTIAN WOMAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO NEW 'ORWELLIAN' CHARGES FOR STANDING AND SILENT PRAYER

Colorado state law and a Denver municipal ordinance prohibit individuals from knowingly approaching within eight feet of another person without their consent to distribute literature or engage in protest, education or counseling within 100 feet of a health care facility entrance, including abortion clinics. Violations are classified as a petty offense, which carries with it a fine or even a possible short jail sentence.

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld Colorado's 1993 law in its 2000 decision in Hill v. Colorado, ruling that the restrictions did not violate the First Amendment.

The restriction, she said, forces her to speak from a distance about an intensely personal subject, potentially allowing others to overhear conversations she would prefer to keep private.

"I would rather be able to just walk up to somebody, offer them alternative information, places where they can get help," she said.

PRO-LIFE GROUP SAYS MAIL-ORDER ABORTION PILLS VIOLATE FEDERAL LAW, URGES TRUMP ADMIN TO TAKE ACTION

"I believe that every woman who is facing this decision deserves to have all the possible information that she might need," Faustin said. "Sometimes she's feeling kind of backed into a corner by circumstances or maybe by other people, and she may not be aware that there can be help somewhere for her through a crisis pregnancy center, an adoption agency, and so that's all the information that I give is offering her information where she can get help and also information about the development of her baby."

Her attorney, Roger Byron, senior counsel for First Liberty Institute, argued the dispute extends far beyond abortion and raises fundamental questions about the First Amendment.

DOJ WEIGHS CIVIL RIGHTS PROBE INTO FORT WORTH POLICE OVER ALLEGED FIRST AMENDMENT VIOLATIONS

"These laws literally make it a crime for Wendy to approach within 8 feet of a woman," Byron told Fox News Digital, describing restrictions he says would not survive constitutional scrutiny if applied to other forms of protest.

"These laws would be struck down immediately if they restricted anti-war protesters or union workers on strike outside of their employer's facility," Byron said. "However, because they restrict pro-life sidewalk counselors, they do not. This decision, Hill versus Colorado from the Supreme Court and the statutes that it protects, make sidewalk counselors, because of their pro-life message, second-class citizens. It literally creates two First Amendments. An oppressive one for pro-life sidewalk counselors, and the real one, the good one for everybody else."

TRUMP DOJ EXPANDS RELIGIOUS LIBERTY PROTECTIONS AFTER MAJOR SUPREME COURT RULINGS

"What's at stake is the free speech rights of anyone whose message is something other than what the government wants it to be," he said.

Byron said the ruling at the Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit will determine what happens next.

"I suspect either way, this case is going to end up in front of the U.S. Supreme Court," Byron said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital reached out to the office of the Colorado attorney general for comment, and a spokesperson said that the office has no comment beyond its filings.

WNBA Finals Game 6, a potential title-clincher, will be held in the afternoon on Thursday

The WNBA announced Game 6 between the Dream and Valkyries, which can be a title winner for one team, will be at 12:30 pm ET.

Game 6 of the WNBA Finals finally has a place to play, as State Farm Arena will be the site for the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries to continue their best-of-seven series.

There is one big problem: the game, a potential clincher for the team that wins Game 5 on Monday night, will be held at 12:30 p.m. ET.

An afternoon game for a league finals series is interesting in and of itself, but for the 2026 WNBA season to potentially end in the afternoon on a weekday is less than ideal.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

The NBA’s Atlanta Hawks are scheduled to host the Cleveland Cavaliers at 8 p.m. ET now, agreeing to move their start time one hour from its originally-scheduled 7 p.m. tip-off that night in the second half of a back-to-back at State Farm Arena.

That’s what caused the scheduling snafu, with Game 6 of the WNBA Finals originally set for 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.

ANGEL REESE BLOCKS SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER'S 'MARRIAGE PROPOSAL' AFTER WNBA FINALS GAME

So, it appears the WNBA, wanting the much-larger State Farm Arena in terms of capacity (17,000) compared to the Dream's usual Gateway Center Arena home court (3,500), might not have had a choice of where to stage Game 6.

The game will still air on USA Network and stream on Peacock.

The Dream have been drawing sold-out crowds through these Finals, and as a result, the league has had to maneuver to ensure the most seats are filled in larger arenas.

Game 3 was moved from Oct. 22 to Oct. 21 to avoid a concert conflict. Meanwhile, Game 4 was pushed to an afternoon tip-off, though it was this past Saturday to accommodate the Hawks’ home opener against the Houston Rockets that night.

A weekend can be justified, but for a weekday to be an afternoon tip-off is mind-boggling even given the circumstances.

The Athletic reported the Hawks could’ve moved their Thursday night game to Friday, however that would have created a Friday-Saturday back-to-back for both NBA teams. And the rescheduled matchup would’ve been on opening night of NBA Cup group play.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE.
Cops called to Florida youth soccer game to deal with parents of 3-year-old soccer prodigy

League official told the family their son would no longer be allowed to play and they'd receive a refund

Cops were called to a Florida youth soccer field Saturday morning and, based on a police report, it's because a 3-year-old is too good for a 5U soccer league.

According to Winter Park, Florida, police, an official from the i9 Sports league called cops Saturday morning looking for help settling a "disturbance between league officials and the parents of a player." In audio obtained by the New York Post, league official Thomas Hayes tells a dispatcher that one of the parents was being "really, really disruptive."

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

"Like following me around, calling me names in front of the whole bunch of people that are here. I want to be done," Hayes explained, before adding, "Can you have someone quickly get here?"

What caused the drama in the first place? Based on the reports obtained by the Post, it was Hayes who revealed that other parents were upset over the 3-year-old's playing time. The kid is too good. The report goes on to state that Hayes told the family that their son would no longer be allowed in the league based on their behavior during the "disturbance" and they'd receive a refund.

Police say this is all out of their hands. They say this is now a civil matter.

SAN FRANCISCO DAD QUESTIONED BY PARK RANGERS FOR TEACHING HIS OWN KIDS TENNIS AT PUBLIC COURT

"The league requested the family leave and offered to refund the league cost to family. Shortly after arrival, the officers were requested by the league official to communicate with the family as he did not want to further a disturbance. The family stated the game was over and they were leaving," Winter Park police said in a statement.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER

Is i9 using the "disturbance" angle as cover for telling the family to move on? It's unclear because i9 has not provided clarification. An attempt to reach company executives on Monday was unsuccessful. OutKick was told to send a message through the company's media inquiry link. Calls to the Winter Park office were unsuccessful and the league's mailbox was full.

AMERICA'S SOFTEST GENERATION ISN'T THE KIDS — IT'S THEIR PARENTS

The parents contend that the boy was kicked out because he's too good. Based on the video evidence, there's no question that the kid can move the ball with precision. In a league full of beginners, he's Pelé.

In an October 10 post, the family claimed their son had 21 goals in two games.

Ex-NFL star says police aimed gun at him in front of his daughters amid incident with alleged reckless drivers

Dez Bryant received an assault citation after an encounter he says began with a shooting threat

EXCLUSIVE: Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant says a police officer aimed a gun at him in front of his daughters Sunday after a confrontation with a man he alleges threatened to shoot him following an encounter with two men who he accused or reckless driving.

The incident resulted in Bryant receiving an assault citation, but began when the two men cut him off in traffic and put him in a dangerous situation, and he just tried to tell them to drive safer, he said.

Footage provided to OutKick by Bryant showed an officer aiming a gun in Bryant’s direction. Bryant is also seen lying on the ground in handcuffs alongside the two other men in Southlake, Texas.

Bryant ended up at the same parking lot with them, where he acknowledged knocking a phone from one man’s hand during their argument, but disputed how police handled the encounter and questioned why he received a citation after reporting that he had been threatened.

ARIZONA STATE CHEERLEADER CHARGED AFTER CONFRONTATION WITH POLICE CAUGHT ON VIRAL VIDEO

"I was really more so concerned about my children, you know, looking at their dad, you know, being on the ground with a gun pointed at me," Bryant said.

The citation reviewed by OutKick lists "Assault by Contact" and identifies the incident location as 2251 E. Southlake Blvd., the same address listed for Chiloso Mexican Bistro. It marks "Arrest: No" and instructs Bryant to appear at Southlake Municipal Court on or before Nov. 20 at 5 p.m.

Bryant said the confrontation began after he encountered two vehicles whose occupants appeared to be interacting with one another at a traffic light. He accused the drivers of cutting him off and continuing to drive recklessly as they arrived at the restaurant, where he was also headed.

Bryant said he told them to stop, acknowledging that he used profanity. He said an argument followed with one of the men, whom the former wide receiver described as a young adult.

TITANS COACH PASSIONATELY DEFENDS JORDAN ELLIOTT AFTER GUN-RELATED INCIDENT LED TO RELEASE

"He go to threatening me and basically saying, um, he’ll insinuate that he’ll, you know, he’ll shoot me or whatever," Bryant said.

Bryant said he responded with a warning of his own.

"You pull that gun, I’m telling you right now, you better use it because if you don’t I’m going to do something to you," he recalled telling the man.

Asked whether the man actually drew a weapon, Bryant said: "No, he didn’t pull a gun out on me."

Bryant said the man instead pulled out his phone and began recording him.

"I told him, you know, get the phone off me," Bryant said. "So what I ended up doing is I knocked the phone out of his hand."

The man then said he would call police, according to Bryant, who said he encouraged him to do so because he believed officers would investigate the alleged threat.

Bryant said a responding officer drew a gun and ordered them to the ground. He said his girlfriend arrived with his two daughters and began recording the encounter.

ICE SHOOTING ROCKS AUSTIN AS DEMOCRAT DEMANDS BODYCAM VIDEO, INDEPENDENT PROBE

"I get on the ground," Bryant said. "My lady pulled up, she got my children, and they seen everything that’s going on."

According to Bryant, officers handcuffed the men, questioned them separately and placed him in a police vehicle before releasing him with the citation. He said the other men were allowed to leave.

Bryant alleged that police relied on the other man’s phone recording without adequately investigating what preceded it. He said he asked officers to review surrounding surveillance footage, including any available video of the driving that led to the confrontation.

"I would rather you guys take us all down to the police station and do the proper investigation instead of just taking somebody else, you know, side," Bryant said. "I felt like it was very one-sided."

Bryant also claims an officer told him that he had to be "the bigger person."

Under Texas law, assault involving offensive or provocative physical contact is generally a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500. The citation does not identify a specific statutory subsection.

Bryant repeatedly described his actions as self-defense. Texas law makes that determination dependent on the circumstances, including whether someone reasonably believed force was immediately necessary to protect against another person’s use or attempted use of unlawful force.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

Bryant emphasized that he has longstanding positive relationships with individual Southlake officers, including one associated with his son’s Southlake Carroll football team.

"Every time I see him, we talk ball. We just talk about the regular things," Bryant said of that officer. "It’s always been good. This situation was just extremely unfortunate."

Bryant played eight seasons with Dallas, earning three Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors in 2014. He finished his Cowboys tenure with 531 catches, 7,459 receiving yards and 73 receiving touchdowns.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. Treat everybody fair. Treat everybody with respect," he said. "Do your due diligence on what’s actually going on."

The Southlake Police Department has provided a statement to OutKick later Monday addressing the incident.

"On Sunday, October 25, at approximately 12:59 p.m., Southlake officers responded to a reported fight in progress in a retail parking lot in the 2200 block of FM 1709. Several callers reported that multiple individuals were involved in the altercation as well as a possible weapon. Based on that information, officers drew their firearms upon arrival as a precaution to address any potential threats and ensure the safety of everyone at the scene. Several individuals were temporarily detained as part of the investigation. No firearms were recovered at the scene," the statement read.

"The altercation reportedly began as a traffic incident near Kimball Avenue, where one of the involved individuals, identified as 37-year-old Desmond Bryant, reported he was cut off by another motorist. Both parties subsequently entered the parking lot, where an argument ensued and the alleged assault occurred. Following the investigation, Bryant, was issued a citation for Assault by Contact, a Class C misdemeanor, and was released at the scene."

Haley Stevens ripped by fellow Dems for refusing to explicitly back El-Sayed: 'Stay the f--- off television'

The former Michigan Senate primary candidate said she's 'on the team' but stopped short of naming El-Sayed directly

Abdul El-Sayed's former Democratic rival is getting hammered by fellow left-wingers online for failing to explicitly endorse him during a weekend television appearance.

Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., who unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic nomination for Senate in Michigan, told CNN's "State of the Union" that she broadly supports her state party's ticket for the coming midterm elections.

"Look, I'm on the Democratic ticket. I can't say that I agree with everything that's gone on," Stevens answered. "I'm looking to be on the team to support my next governor, Jocelyn Benson, and frankly, these great Democrats who are working their tails off, who are going to make Hakeem Jeffries the first Black Speaker of the House."

BERNIE SANDERS CLAIMS SOME DEMOCRATS MAY WANT THEIR OWN SENATE NOMINEE TO LOSE

When pressed about El-Sayed specifically, she said, "Well, look, I would just say, if you had asked me if I'm still on the team, I'm on the team."

But that was not enough for progressives, who promptly accused Stevens of undermining her fellow Democrat.

"Ridiculous. For all the folks still pretending El-Sayed’s race is the same as [Roy Cooper’s] or [Mary Peltola’s], do they have former Dem rivals refusing to fully endorse them on national TV? ‘Blue no matter who’ was a hypocritical centrist lie and this hypocrisy may hurt Dems in 2028," Mehdi Hasan wrote on X, referring to Democrat Senate races in North Carolina and Alaska.

Leah Greenberg, who leads the progressive activist group Indivisible, wrote, "It is late October and people are voting every day, if you cannot give a full-throated endorsement to the Democratic nominee who could be the key vote in flipping the Senate, then stay the f--- off television."

MICHIGAN DEMOCRAT WHO LOST SENATE PRIMARY TO ABDUL EL-SAYED TAKES AIM AT BERNIE SANDERS OVER ISRAEL STANCE

Former congressional candidate Kyle Blomquist accused Stevens of "practically fawning over Mike Rogers" and said "her only real ideological commitment is to zionism."

Progressive commentator Emma Vigeland wrote on X, "There are financial and institutional incentives to remain on the side of genocide. Stevens is sabotaging El-Sayed on national TV, one week before the midterm, to protect her pocketbook and career over democracy."

More moderate and establishment-friendly Democrats pushed back on some of the criticism.

Strategist Lis Smith responded to Hasan, "People—Democrats, Republicans, Independents—clamoring to support the Peltolas and Coopers is actually a validation of their candidate quality! It’s good to have candidates people want to associate with and that should be a factor when assessing candidate quality!"

El-Sayed edged Stevens out by just 1% in the Michigan primary earlier this year, after fellow Democrat Mallory McMorrow dropped out of the race.

El-Sayed won 48.5% of the vote compared to Stevens' 47.5%, with McMorrow netting 4%.

Stevens was notably the establishment-backed pick with support from top Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. El-Sayed is backed by "Squad" Democrats like Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital reached out to Stevens for comment on the online backlash but did not immediately hear back.
