Trump makes surprise pick to fill Graham's Senate seat

President Donald Trump is pushing for an unexpected replacement to fill the vacancy left by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in the Senate.

Trump wants South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster to tap Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to be appointed to the lawmaker’s suddenly open seat for the remainder of his term.

"I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina," Trump said on Truth Social on Monday. "This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!"

Graham and his younger sister, Darline, had a unique bond, given that, after their parents died, the lawmaker legally adopted and raised her.

Trump’s announcement comes as a scramble behind the scenes is taking place to fill Graham’s spot, and further, find a new GOP nominee to run in November to keep his seat in the hands of Republicans.

McMaster is expected to announce his pick for the seat at 4 p.m. on Monday. He has so far kept quiet about who he would prefer. Fox News Digital did not immediately hear back from McMaster’s office on who he is eyeing in the interim.

Meanwhile, a key Republican, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., also wants to see Graham's sister get the nod for his seat.

"Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, would be a fantastic pick to serve out the remainder of the Senate term," Scott said on X. "After speaking with Darline, there is no one better who understands Lindsey’s love for family, our state, and our country."

Scott, earlier in the day, floated both former Rep. Trey Gowdy and former Sen. Jim DeMint as possible replacements in the interim. He hoped that McMaster would "put a placeholder and let the voters decide" later during a forthcoming special election.

"I think in the next several hours or next day or so we'll figure out who that person is," Scott said. "I love Trey Gowdy and Jim DeMint has been in the conversation."

"[Graham’s] sister would be a wonderful placeholder as well," he continued. "So we've got lots of candidates who could hold the place so that the voters decide. And remember the election starts August the 11th in South Carolina, three weeks from now, we'll have a primary process."

Both Gowdy and DeMint have served in Congress — Gowdy in the House and DeMint in the Senate, preceding Scott. Graham Nordone, however, has never held public office.

Multiple sources close to Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) told Fox News Digital that he is pushing McMaster to choose one of the three to effectively be a placeholder and not seek a six-year term in the Senate.

While the appointment race nears its conclusion, the race for the GOP nomination to run in South Carolina is still wide open.

Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Ralph Norman, R-S.C., are already hinting at leaping into the special election, which is set for Aug. 11. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., said that he would stay in the House, but the rest of the Palmetto State’s GOP congressional delegation have not said what their plans are.

This is one of the slowest sports weeks of the entire year, but that doesn't mean we have nothing to bet on! There are still WNBA games, there is the All-Star Game, and there is tonight's Home Run Derby. Plus, we can start looking at the NFL season, which starts just about two months from now. Let's get to how we can bet on tonight's Home Run Derby and where we can make some cash.

The Rules

This year the MLB is doing something different. Not only will the Derby be on Netflix, but to keep things moving, the most homers anyone can hit in a round is 20 (kind of). That's because they only get 20 swings in Round 1, and 15 in Round 2 and the Final round. If you homer on your last swing, you go until you don't hit a homer. It should speed things up a bit.

Kyle Schwarber, 32 homers

Schwarber is a masher and currently leads the league in home runs. Schwarber has a lot of reasons to like him tonight. He has competed in the Derby before, and he is playing in his home stadium. Honestly, he is one of my favorite players of all time, so it is hard for me to get over my bias, but you could do worse than betting on him at +300 to win. However, I do have some concerns he can't get going right away.

Junior Caminero, 28 homers

This man finished second in the Derby last year and looks to try and get the crown this year. He has power to spare, but I feel like if anyone will swing and miss in this contest, it is Caminero. He is at +425, but I won't put money on him as I prefer people who are more familiar with the ballpark.

Munetaka Murakami, 20 homers

He certainly has pop and is part of the reason the White Sox are successful this year, but he is also coming back from injury. I would stay away from him. For the record, he has competed in Japanese derbies in the past, but never won.

Jac Caglianone, 15 homers

He's a youngster, so he might have the energy for the contest, but I think his odds should be higher. He is +700 in the contest and has just 15 homers this season. I also don't think he will be overly familiar with the batter's eye here, so it might be a struggle at first. I'm not touching him.

Jordan Walker, 22 homers

I think this is my favorite underdog in the tournament. His metrics show that he is hitting the ball hard when he makes contact, and with 20 swings, he may have all the energy needed to consistently hit with pop. He is in this for the first time, but I think that matters more when you're on a time limit instead of swings. He could be looking to make a name for himself. Give me a small share of Walker at +800.

Bryce Harper, 20 homers

A former winner: check. Playing in his home ballpark: check. A guy who has pop: check. A dude who loves big moments: double-check. I'm quite surprised Harper isn't at worse odds. He is my official pick to win it, and I'll put a full bet on him at +800. (Note: this is an exhibition thing, so a "full bet" is never the amount of a normal game for me.)

Ben Rice, 29 homers

This guy is having a great season and can certainly find his fair share of balls going over the fence. I really don't have a great justification for not picking Rice. You can make the same case for him as Jordan Walker, but I just don't prefer him. Not great analysis, just the truth.

Willson Contreras, 20 homers

No one in this field has had a more interesting season than Contreras. This will be his first Home Run Derby, and I do tend to shy away from new guys a bit. However, as mentioned, this new format should be fine for him. He may be doing this for Venezuela or to get people to see something positive about him after some craziness over the past few weeks. At +1400 he is more of a line drive hitter, but he can blast homers, so he is the hardest person for me to handicap here.

Give me Harper to win at +800, and I'll take another half of a unit and split it on Walker and Contreras. I also like Harper to make the Semi-Finals at -115.

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker calls Lindsey Graham 'bloodthirsty odious monster'

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker called the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., "bloodthirsty," among other names, in a video posted to his YouTube channel on Sunday, after the senator died on Saturday of a brief and sudden illness.

"We like to take a look at the true worth of a man. We like to take a look at what these members of Congress have actually done. Not the way that they cover it in mainstream media, but instead, the way of what their impact is and the way it should be covered. I'll start off by saying Lindsey Graham, in a long list of demonic entities, was exceptionally bloodthirsty. A bloodthirsty odious monster who loved war. There was never a war that Lindsey Graham did not fall in love with," he said.

Graham, 71, passed away on Saturday after suffering from an "Aortic Dissection due to Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease," according to the medical examiner's report. The medical examiner emphasized that the findings are not final and that Graham's death certificate will remain pending while toxicological and microscopic testing is completed.

"Lindsey Graham is pro-life and yet Lindsey Graham has died. Piker was among several political commentators to jump on Graham after his death. Piker initially mocked a post on social media honoring Graham's relationship with Israel, by commenting, "lmao."

"The Young Turks" co-host and executive producer Ana Kasparian responded on X to the announcement of Graham's death with two words.

"Good riddance," Kasparian said.

Far-right political commentator Nick Fuentes also posted the same response online.

"Lindsey Graham has moved on to the next step in his journey, trying to convince Hades to attack Zeus and Poseidon," Uygur said. "He says it’ll only take a couple of weeks and won’t require any ground troops. And there’s no way Poseidon can close the Strait."

Former MSNBC analyst and Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt called Graham a "lonely and unprincipled man who betrayed his country for power and his decency for attention" in a Substack post on Sunday.

Graham also received several tributes praising his work from his allies in the government, including President Donald Trump.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Graham "was always working," and called the Palmetto State senator "a true American Patriot."

WV town's police department thrown into chaos by evidence room fiasco, but officials say no one was fired

Officials in one West Virginia town are pushing back on claims from its own police department that every single person in the agency was fired, saying the entire department is now under an internal review after allegations of a break-in in its evidence room.

In a July 7 Facebook post, the Barrackville Police Department wrote that the entire department was fired by city officials.

"Effective immediately, the entire Barrackville Police Department has been relieved of duty by the Mayor and City Council," the department wrote. "We are sincerely grateful for the support, trust, and encouragement shown to us by the Barrackville community throughout our service. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve and protect this town."

WEST VIRGINIA TOWN FIRES ENTIRE POLICE FORCE AFTER CHIEF RESIGNS, SERGEANT ALLEGES EVIDENCE ROOM BREAK-IN

The announcement came after then-Barrackville Police Chief Zachary Freeburn resigned "effective immediately."

However, in a statement to Fox News Digital, Barrackville's general counsel, John Funkhouser, said the police department's claim of a mass firing is "entirely inaccurate." He said two officers were placed on temporary leave pending an internal investigation into an alleged break-in at the department's evidence room.

Funkhouser said then-Chief Freeburn told council member Alex Neville on July 1 that the department's evidence locker was cleaned out under an order from the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, leaving firearms confiscated years ago along with $30 in abandoned cash. Due to an alleged lack of "proper records and other documentation," Straight placed Hunt and officer Ethan Darden on temporary inactive status to give the town's council "time to review all pertinent information regarding the operation of the Barrackville Police Department."

Straight raised concerns on July 6 that unauthorized individuals could remotely access surveillance cameras at the police department, which included those housed in the evidence room. When several council members entered the evidence room, they found "a list of safe combinations on a desk and used one to open the safe, which turned up nothing."

One police cruiser was also found unlocked by the council members, along with another one that had an "unsecured rifle" inside. The officers were placed on leave the following day.

Hunt responded by saying he was going to investigate the alleged break-in at the police department and wanted to claim "whistleblower" status, inviting the West Virginia State Police to investigate. "The assertion that the entire police staff has been fired in entirely inaccurate. The Town of Barrackville is committed to transparency, accountability and the safety of its residents," Funkhouser said in a statement.

Hunt's account to WBOY differs from the town's version of events, telling the outlet that he discovered the evidence room had been entered by someone else when he got to work on July 7.

After accusing town officials of entering the evidence room, he and another officer, who consist of the entire town's police force, were fired.

In the meantime, Marion County Sheriff Roger Cunningham told WBOY that their agency will handle calls within Barrackville.

The senator died with a net worth of about $1.4 million, with congressional disclosures from May showing a lower-end estimate of just over $600,000 and an upper estimate of a little more than $2.2 million, according to financial disclosures he filed in May. Despite serving in Congress for 31 years, Graham ranked at 294th in wealth among the 535 voting members of Congress, according to data from the Quiver Quantitative.

Graham died at age 71, meaning that his net worth at the end was relatively normal. Individuals between the ages of 65 and 74 have an average net worth of $1.79 million and a median net worth of $409,900, according to Fidelity.

An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation staff attorney is under scrutiny after a viral video of her declaring she would refuse to comply with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and urging Americans to make agents' lives "miserable," prompting a state review and a sharp response from the Department of Homeland Security.

"Conservatives really think they’re doing something when they say, ‘Just comply’ when it comes to ICE and United States citizens," Shannon (Hoyle) Desherow said in a TikTok video reshared by Libs of TikTok last week on X.

On her LinkedIn page, Desherow says she currently works for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as assistant general counsel. Her TikTok page has been set on private.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News Digital, "Reminder: Obstruction of law enforcement is a federal crime and a felony. The First Amendment protects speech and peaceful assembly – not rioting."

The spokesperson added, "DHS is taking reasonable and constitutional measures to uphold the rule of law and protect our officers. ICE officers are facing a nearly 1000% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members."

"Anyone in Oklahoma law enforcement who feels so passionately against our federal partners should resign. Homeland Security, FBI, DEA and ICE are critical allies to Oklahoma and my office as we combat organized crime. An attack against one of them is an attack on the entire system that protects our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness."

UK pins string of antisemitic attacks on Iran-linked group, bans IRGC

The United Kingdom on Monday blamed an Iran-linked proxy group for a string of antisemitic arson attacks targeting British Jewish sites, prompting the government to ban Tehran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and impose sweeping new powers to crack down on foreign-backed sabotage.

British officials said the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right (IMCR) publicly claimed responsibility for seven attacks this year targeting Jewish and Israeli-linked locations, as well as a Persian-language media outlet critical of Iran's government. According to the U.K. government, members of the IRGC's elite Qods Force were "almost certainly" directing the group's operations across Europe.

The attacks included fires at synagogues, Jewish charity ambulances and other Jewish community sites in London. No injuries were reported.

DESANTIS ANNOUNCES PLANS TO USE NEW STATE LAW TO TARGET DOZENS OF ALLEGED TERRORIST GROUPS

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the new measures send a clear message to foreign adversaries seeking to sow violence.

"We will never let Britain be a playground for states who want to spread fear, division and violence on our streets," Starmer said. "Anyone acting on behalf of those who threaten our national security should be in no doubt that there is no place for you in Britain."

If Parliament approves the designations later this week, anyone carrying out acts of sabotage — including arson — on behalf of the IRGC, IMCR or Russia's GRU Volunteer Corps could face life imprisonment. Supporting or assisting the groups could carry prison sentences of up to 14 years.

The British government said the new authorities, created under the National Security (State Threats) Act 2026, will make it easier for prosecutors to secure convictions because they will no longer have to prove a direct foreign government connection in every case.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood accused both Tehran and Moscow of relying on criminal proxies to conduct hostile operations inside the United Kingdom.

"Iran and Russia are using proxies and thugs to do their dirty work on our shores," Mahmood said. "I have rapidly designated three groups so those working for them will be tracked down and put behind bars."

ISRAEL FORTIFIES BORDER WITH JORDAN AS IRAN SEEKS NEW TERROR PATH

The government said IMCR emerged online earlier this year and has also claimed responsibility for attacks on synagogues in Belgium and the Netherlands. British intelligence officials say Iran-backed proxy groups have increasingly recruited members of criminal organizations to carry out sabotage, intimidation and physical attacks across Europe, often targeting Jewish communities and Iranian dissidents.

According to the U.K., MI5 identified at least 20 potentially lethal Iran-backed plots against individuals in Britain over the past year. The government has already sanctioned more than 550 Iranian-linked individuals and entities and has pledged £250 million ($334,662,500) over three years to strengthen security for Jewish communities, including increased protection for synagogues, schools and community centers.

Britain also designated Russia's GRU Volunteer Corps, saying the group acts as a proxy for Russian military intelligence by recruiting individuals online to conduct sabotage, arson and other hostile operations.

The crackdown comes just weeks after two Romanian men were sentenced to prison for stabbing a journalist working for a Persian-language television station in London, an attack a British judge said was carried out on behalf of the Iranian state.

Two years after a gunman opened fire on Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the security failures that nearly cost him his life remain under scrutiny as later alleged plots and reported threats keep presidential protection in the spotlight.

Trump was rushed offstage by Secret Service agents after gunfire grazed his upper right ear during his July 13, 2024, rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The attack came months before Trump’s re-election and preceded a series of later alleged attempts and reported threats against his life.

Two years ago Monday, Trump was mid-sentence, pointing to a chart on illegal immigration under the Biden administration, when gunshots pierced the air at his Butler rally. Authorities identified the gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired from the roof of a nearby building.

The gunman killed firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was shielding his family, and wounded two other men. A Secret Service sniper killed Crooks during the attack.

A report from the Office of Inspector General, released earlier this month, found that the U.S. Secret Service "missed multiple opportunities" to prevent or disrupt the assassination attempt due to communication failures and other security lapses.

It also found failure to warn Trump's protective detail that Crooks had a rangefinder and a long gun and had climbed onto the roof of a nearby building.

Trump’s security has remained under scrutiny since he returned to office, amid later alleged assassination attempts and reported threats against his life.

In September 2024, authorities said Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested after a Secret Service agent spotted him with a rifle near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, in what federal prosecutors later charged as an attempted assassination of Trump.

In April of this year, there was an assassination attempt against Trump at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, where a shooter attempted to break into the ballroom.

Trump warned Iran Friday that the United States would "decimate and destroy" the country if Tehran carried out an assassination attempt against him.

Charlie Kirk's close friend calls for death penalty for convicted assassins

PROVO, Utah — Charlie Kirk's close friend Jack Posobiec called Friday for convicted assassins to face the death penalty after spending five days in a Utah courtroom watching prosecutors present what he described as "an avalanche of evidence" against the man accused of murdering the Turning Point USA founder last year.

"I think the death penalty should be sought for any assassin," Posobiec, a senior editor at Human Events and former Navy intelligence officer, told reporters outside the Fourth District Courthouse in Provo, Utah, Friday. "I think assassins are a cancer on society itself."

Such a change would require lawmakers to expand the aggravating factors that make murder cases eligible for the death penalty. Under current laws in the federal system and the 27 states that have capital punishment, assassination cases aren't automatically death penalty eligible.

"Specifically political assassinations, but really any assassination — it's an attack on our rights as free people," Posobiec said. "It's an attack on our rights under the First Amendment. It's an attack on our very way of life as Americans and as Americans, you have to provide the utmost penalty for someone who attacks our very bedrock way of life."

Kirk's murder during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem on Sept. 10, 2025, is one of two major assassination cases making their way through court at present. Months before Kirk's death, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down from behind outside a New York City hotel hours before he was supposed to attend a business conference with Wall Street investors.

The suspect in that case, Luigi Mangione, would no longer face the potential death penalty if convicted after his lawyers successfully outmaneuvered federal prosecutors, who could not use the alleged assassination itself as an aggravating factor under current law.

He is accused of writing anti-insurance industry messages on casings recovered from the crime scene. Robinson is accused of following suit — engraving cartridges with memes and Antifa-inspired phrases.

Robinson has not yet entered a plea and isn't expected to do so until at least September, when Judge Tony Graf Jr. rules on whether there's enough evidence to send the case to trial.

Posobiec, who attended all five days of the hearing, agreed with prosecutors who said they had "overwhelming" and "devastating" evidence against the defendant.

"This isn't just a document that says Tyler Robinson did it," he told reporters.

They heard testimony about DNA consistent with Robinson's being found on items at the crime scene, including the suspected murder weapon and the ammo inside, which were recovered in the woods near campus — more than 250 miles from his home in southern Utah.

Toolmark evidence allegedly linked an engraved cartridge casing found in Robinson's apartment to the same Dremel tool investigators assert was used to engrave cartridges and a spent casing recovered at the crime scene.

Investigators testified that a suspect and vehicle on campus surveillance video were Robinson and his Dodge Challenger. The video allegedly showed Robinson following the same path twice — in different outfits. During the second visit, the suspect is shown walking with a distinctive, limp-like gait, as he is alleged to be walking with a rifle concealed down his pant leg.

He allegedly made contact with Turning Point USA members before the shooting and with a Spanish Fork police officer afterward.

And he allegedly claimed responsibility for the crime in text messages and a handwritten note to Twiggs, a conversation with his parents and a Discord chat with multiple people.

Posobiec contrasted the evidence presented against Robinson over the course of a week to the case against Bryan Kohberger, where prosecutors had little more than a touch DNA sample on a Ka-Bar knife sheath the quadruple murderer dropped at the crime scene, along with some circumstantial phone data and the description of a suspect vehicle.

But Kohberger pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty, Posobiec noted.

"You compare that minimal amount of evidence to this avalanche — and there has been an avalanche of evidence," he said.

Robinson is due back in court on Sept. 1 for oral arguments on whether his case should be bound over — or sent to trial.

"He was a great guy, and he was a friend," the president recalled on "Fox & Friends."

"He would call me all the time. He would just, I'd say, ‘Stop calling me, Lindsey,’" he laughed. "It was just... amazing."

Trump reflected on Graham, 71, as a "workaholic politician" whom "everybody" loved, regardless of their political leanings. He marveled at Graham's ability to reach across the aisle and solve partisan problems.

Since Graham's passing, many have highlighted his passionate defense of Kavanaugh as one of the defining moments of his political career.

New York business group campaigns to end 'Prohibition-era' alcohol restrictions statewide

The Business Council of New York State is seeking to repeal "Prohibition-era" alcohol laws.

The New York Post reported that the organization launched its "New Yorkers Cheers for Change" campaign on Sunday, pushing a proposal that would counter the state's restrictions on alcohol sales.

"New York has some of the most restrictive Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) laws the entire nation because they were created during the Prohibition-era. Current ABC laws impede economic growth, job opportunities, consumer choice, and New York’s own wine and distilled spirits industry," the organization's website read.

The "Cheers for Change" campaign followed the 2023 Commission to Study Reform of the Alcohol Beverage Control Law, launched under New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, to recommend ways to update state laws, such as relaxing its 200 Foot Law and 500 Foot Law.

The state's 200 Foot Law prohibits the State Liquor Authority from issuing licenses to merchants selling within 200 feet of a school or place of worship. The 500 Foot Law restricts the issuing of licenses to businesses within 500 feet of three or more licensed establishments.

Both are part of the New York Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Law, first enacted in 1934, immediately after Prohibition laws ended nationwide, for the purpose of regulating alcohol production and sales.

According to the website, pulling back on state regulations could create more than 4,000 new jobs and produce $500 million worth of new economic activity.

Paul Zuber, the executive vice president of the Business Council of New York State Business Council of New York State, told The New York Post that while progress has been made, and Hochul's efforts to modernize laws are recognized, there is "still a long way to go."

"Governor Hochul remains committed to uplifting small businesses and supporting these vendors, including passing provisions in her FY27 budget that will protect retailers from unfair fees, help businesses open faster, streamline beer wholesale licensing and extend beverage services in movie theaters," Kassie White, deputy press secretary and press operations manager for Hochul, told Fox News Digital. Zuber told Fox News Digital that, overall, public support has been largely positive.

"I think consumers by and large want a system that is modernized to meet their needs. There are so many examples that constantly make things harder for consumers, and we can fix that by modernizing the law," Zuber said.

Welcome into another week of work where we're so far into the dog days of summer that the only sports options on the calendar today are WNBA games and the MLB Home Run Derby. Even the Tour de France has a day off to rest up.

But, Screencaps rolls on.

Let's get the week rolling with some observations from the weekend:

How do I know Disney is a mess of a company? Last night, my family watched an episode of America's Funniest Videos where the show was giving away a trip on a Disney cruise for the funniest video. The battle was between a grandma who fell face first into her lawn and a cute toddler girl who got into a war of words with her father over taking a nap. The two families are on the set and then they bring out Mickey and Minnie. The little girl's eyes light up. She's happy. Smiling. The parents are pointing to the iconic mascots. They're happy. Guess which video was picked as the winner?The Boomer grandma won. Granny and her old man cheered as the little girl and her family stood there in silence. I came unglued. First of all, it wasn't the funnier video. Second, I thought this was Disney. How aren't you rigging this so the little girl wins, Mickey and Minnie celebrate with the girl and the viewer is left feeling great about society? I'm not calling for something that the little girl didn't deserve. HER VIDEO WAS BETTER.

Let's go to the American Century Championship where John O'Hurley was the worst golfer. Over three rounds, he had just two pars. Meanwhile, Charles Barkley, who, for years, was the worst golfer at this tournament, had just four doubles on Sunday on his way to shooting a 90. Chuck finished 69th. That was better than folks like Grant Hill, Baker Mayfield, the WNBA commissioner and Larry the Cable Guy. By the way, Rich Eisen finished worse than the woke WNBA commissioner. That should be good enough to be relegated into never appearing in this tournament again. It's not all sunshine and roses for Charles. He still has a duff in the bag.

The Goodyear blimp was flying over Put-in-Bay on Lake Erie on Sunday. There we were making our way to the shores of one of the greatest lakes in the world when out of nowhere, the blimp was hovering right over South Bass Island for some reason.
Was it just me or was Conor McGregor's return to the octagon vastly under-marketed. I didn't even know he was fighting Saturday night.
I might have caught the pickleball bug over the weekend thanks to my kids who sucked me in. My only issue is that I could see myself blowing out a knee at some point. I made a couple of cuts and my left knee could go out at any moment. My brain is telling me to go for spikes and make incredible attempts to run back to the baseline to hit shots, but my knees are paying the price. I'm thinking doubles might be more my speed. Trump birthright citizenship fight comes roaring back with ‘invaders’ play after Kavanaugh roadmap

EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Jim Banks will introduce legislation Monday aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants and birth tourists by defining them as children of "invaders" under federal law after a Supreme Court ruling last month dealt a setback to President Donald Trump’s executive order on the issue.

Trump recently urged Senate Republicans to move faster on his legislative agenda, including ending birthright citizenship, telling them they were "not fighting hard enough," Banks, R-Ind., recalled in a June 30 interview with Human Events.

Banks told Fox News Digital he plans to introduce the Citizenship Act as soon as the Senate opens for business Monday afternoon – crafting it with a nod to Trump-appointed Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s concurrence in last month's Trump v. Barbara case.

Kavanaugh, concurring in the judgment and dissenting in part, said Trump’s order conflicted with federal birthright citizenship law but suggested Congress could amend that statute to create new exceptions.

TRUMP'S 'HERO' JUSTICE OFFERS ROADMAP AFTER SUPREME COURT REJECTS BIRTHRIGHT ORDER

The Citizenship Act would declare that children of statutory "invaders" are not entitled to birthright citizenship under the law and codify a 2025 executive order that cites the term.

In its summary, Banks' bill declares "any person who enters the United States without authorization or for the purpose of engaging in birth tourism is considered an invader..." and amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to exclude children of such "invaders."

Banks' key use of "invaders" cites Trump’s executive order declaring illegal immigration across the southern border an "invasion," while the bill notes the Barbara decision leaves that avenue open for Congress to crack down on.

Without touching the constitutional amendment process or attempting to overturn any court ruling, the Citizenship Act will codify Trump’s declaration of "invasion" and amend federal law to revoke birthright citizenship from children of illegal immigrants under exceptions listed in the same case the Barbara ruling’s majority used as its precedent.

Kavanaugh found that Trump’s order didn’t violate the 14th Amendment but did conflict with a federal statute on birthright citizenship passed in the spirit of the amendment conservatives said was intended mainly for freed slaves and their children

Chief Justice John Roberts, appointed by George W. Bush, relied on the landmark 1898 U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark case to rule against Trump in Barbara and "guarantee citizenship to all children born in the United States and subject to its power" – but Banks’ bill would use that same case as precedent to secure an end to birthright citizenship for progeny of illegal immigrants and birth tourists.

Justice Horace Gray – an appointee of Republican President Chester Arthur – ruled in Wong Kim Ark that those exceptions include diplomats’ kids, "enemies within" and those engaged in hostile occupation of U.S. territories who are not "bound to render obedience to the sovereign [U.S. government] whose domains are being invaded."

By Roberts reaffirming Wong Kim Ark’s precedent with its exceptions, Banks’ bill would essentially use it against itself.

"The Supreme Court’s birthright citizenship decision was an unprecedented assault on American sovereignty, and we must do whatever it takes to save our country," Banks told Fox News Digital.

"I’m leading the Citizenship Act to reverse the effects of this consequential ruling and ensure the millions of illegal aliens that invaded our country can’t continue to exploit our immigration system."

In U.S. v. CASA, a similar 2025 case that went against Trump, Obama-appointed Justice Sonia Sotomayor separately confirmed "children born of alien enemies in hostile occupation" do not qualify for birthright citizenship, while not taking the extra step to classify illegal immigrants as such "invaders" mentioned in the original ruling.

Banks also makes a textual constitutional argument in his bill, writing that Article IV requires the feds to "protect each [state] against invasion" while Congress’ Article I power includes "establish[ing] a uniform rule of naturalization."

He also cited James Madison’s 1788 analysis that the Constitution vested Congress – not the states – with authority over naturalization through a uniform national rule.

The Citizenship Act lays out that some Mexican nationals view migration northward as a means of re-conquering territory the U.S. won during 1840s military hostilities finalized in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848 that established Texas and beyond as part of the U.S.

It also points to Chinese birth tourism being encouraged directly by the CCP – which brings the birthright citizenship debate over what defines an invasion by a hostile government full circle.

Banks’ bill argues those examples demonstrate that birthright citizenship has become intertwined with broader questions of national sovereignty and foreign influence.

Graham reportedly refused medical help before scheduled TV appearance

The late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., reportedly wanted to hold off getting medical assistance until after his scheduled appearance on NBC’s "Meet the Press."

In what could have been his final conversation, Graham, who suddenly died at 71 years old after a "brief and sudden illness," told a person that he was feeling unwell, Axios reported. When the person pushed the lawmaker to get medical attention, he reportedly said that he’d do so after his TV hit.

"The death certificate will be PENDING until all the toxicological and microscopic testing are finalized and at that point the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death," Graham’s office said.

President Donald Trump had believed he may have been the last person to speak with Graham before his death.

"There can be no more fitting memorial to Lindsey, his legacy or the causes he fought for than to pass this legislation and realize his long-held dream of an independent and secure Ukraine," Shaheen said.

With the Senate’s scheduled return on Monday, the lawmaker's death leaves a power vacuum in the upper chamber and a scramble behind the scenes to replace him in South Carolina.

Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Ralph Norman, R-S.C., are both eyeing the seat and possible bids for the GOP nomination in the forthcoming special election. First, however, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has to appoint someone to fill the seat for the remainder of the year.

It also possibly jeopardizes elements of Trump’s agenda, including the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), nominations and his coveted SAVE America Act, which Graham strongly supported.

'Daredevil' actress Wai Ching Ho dead at 82

Wai Ching Ho, best known for her roles in "Daredevil" and "Hustlers," has died. She was 82.

The veteran actress’ death was announced on Saturday, July 11, by her "Daredevil" co-star Peter Shinkoda on Instagram and confirmed by her representative.

"Her family is deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support, and the many beautiful messages and memories people have shared about our beloved Wai," a representative for the actress told Fox News Digital in a statement. "Reading how much she meant to so many is comforting to us during this difficult time."

Ho "passed away peacefully after a stroke two days ago," according to actor Perry Yung's Instagram tribute.

He added, "Wai Ching was a kind, compassionate human being whose work as an artist lifted every production to a higher standard, and we are better for it. Rest in power, dear friend," along with prayer emojis.

In addition to her Marvel roles, she voiced Grandma Wu in Pixar's 2022 film "Turning Red."

The actress also appeared in "Hustlers," "One Life to Live," "Premium Rush" and "Fresh Off the Boat."

The actress was born on Nov. 16, 1943, in Hong Kong.

Her feature film debut came in 1990's "Cadillac Man," which also starred Robin Williams.

Former Home Run Derby participant discusses why MLB All-Star festivities are the best in sports

The unofficial halfway point of the MLB season is already here, and fans all over the country will be tuned into one of baseball’s spectacles on Monday night.

This year’s Home Run Derby, however, might be the most-viewed ever, as it will be streamed on Netflix.

"It's going to be fun. It's going to be really exciting. What they're doing to our sport, getting basically worldwide recognition. Fans that maybe aren't interested in baseball see that it's on Netflix and think, ‘Hey, I'm gonna watch this.’ So, we have a really good opportunity to bring baseball to viewers that don't necessarily see it on a daily basis," former All-Star and Derby participant Anthony Rizzo, who is a Netflix analyst for the event, said recently to Fox News Digital.

"They bring stardom everywhere. Everything they do, Netflix is first class. So, I'm excited for the guests we're going to have on, the baseball players, the celebrities, the whole shebang."

In an era where All-Star Games have turned into simply careful scrimmages, baseball’s remains different, as 100 mph fastballs with devastating breaking balls are still constant.

"I think when you get between the lines, it's all fun and games until the game starts. It's still relaxed and fun, but when you're in the box or on defense, it's very competitive. You want to take the guy deep, you want to get a hit, you want to showcase your All-Star talent on the national stage. If you get out, it doesn't matter as much. If you get a hit, it doesn't matter as much. But it feels good to perform at the All-Star Game," Rizzo said.

One All-Star phenomenon in the NBA’s Dunk Contest unarguably has been watered down due to the fact that simply the game’s stars don’t participate. But that is not the case with the Home Run Derby, even with the exhaustion it brings.

"I've done the Derby myself, and I was sore for a week afterward just because of how hard I was swinging. So, you've really got to assess where you're at physically and mentally. It's mentally grueling, too. The magnitude and the emotion that go into the Derby and the All-Star Game are intense, and then two days later you're back playing. So, you've just got to know yourself," said Rizzo.

But Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Junior Caminero, and Ben Rice are just some of the top names that will be in Philadelphia attempting to hit as many home runs in 20 swings each round.

"The Derby brings adrenaline that you're just not used to having in July," Rizzo said.

"You want the big stars in it all the time. It's also really good for young players to showcase themselves. I don't think the game will ever shy away from it, and the incentive to win now is higher than it's ever been. To hit a few home runs over a couple of hours and win seven figures is a pretty nice outcome, for sure."

The break, Rizzo inclined, has the potential to be one of the best ever.

"I think it's just so hard to be an All-Star every year. What goes into being an All-Star in Major League Baseball, especially as a position player, is you're not just going to roll out there and hit 20 to 30 home runs by the All-Star break and have a .280 to .300 average. There's so much work that goes into it," he said.

"Then you get to enjoy and celebrate that moment with all your peers who have also had a great first half. The Home Run Derby is awesome. It's in Philly, and I feel like Philly right now is just on fire. The Phillies have completely turned their season around and are looking like World Series contenders again. It's America's 250th birthday, the World Cup is coming, and everything's going right right now. Philly, the Home Run Derby there, the All-Star Game, I would imagine the city's going to be rocking."

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan is facing calls for a Senate Judiciary Committee investigation after a coalition of conservative legal organizations accused her of failing to recuse herself from a major climate change case expected to be argued before the high court next term, alleging she publicly endorsed legal theories central to the dispute.

In a letter sent Monday to Senate Judiciary Committee leaders, the coalition urged lawmakers to investigate whether Kagan violated federal ethics rules by participating in Suncor Energy v. Boulder County.

The coalition argued that Kagan compromised her impartiality by writing the foreword to the Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, which included a climate science chapter that was later criticized by Congress and Republican attorneys general as biased and was eventually removed.

Suncor Energy v. Boulder County asks whether Colorado local governments can use state law to hold oil and gas companies financially liable for their alleged contributions to climate change.

In her foreword, Kagan wrote that judges would increasingly confront lawsuits involving "climate science" and encouraged them to use the manual as a resource for evaluating scientific evidence.

The coalition argues those comments, along with her endorsement of the manual, create the appearance that she had already embraced legal theories underlying the plaintiffs' claims.

"Justice Kagan's conflicts of interest on climate litigation preclude her from serving as the 'neutral arbiter' required by her oath," Judicial Crisis Network President Carrie Severino said in a statement. "By endorsing and penning a promotional preface for a judges' reference manual featuring an overtly biased 'climate science' chapter, she embraced the partisan ideals and legal theories driving state and local climate lawfare. The manual's bias was so egregious that Congress and state attorneys general called for its removal."

The climate science chapter promoted scientific theories frequently relied upon by state and local governments suing oil and gas companies over climate change, according to the letter.

After Republican lawmakers and a coalition of Republican attorneys general accused the chapter of presenting a one-sided view, the Federal Judicial Center removed it from the version of the manual distributed to federal judges.

"Kagan's implicit judicial endorsement of the manual and her support of climate-lawfare theories are evidence she cannot remain impartial on climate litigation, including the Court's upcoming Suncor case. She must recuse herself immediately," Severino added.

The letter also argues Kagan has a history of inconsistent recusals. It points to her participation in NFIB v. Sebelius, the landmark Affordable Care Act case, despite serving as solicitor general during the Obama administration while the law was being defended.

It also cites American Tradition Partnership v. Bullock, which revisited issues related to Citizens United after Kagan argued against that decision as solicitor general, and United States v. Briones, where the Supreme Court later acknowledged she should have been recused because of her prior involvement in the case while serving in the executive branch.

The coalition is asking the Senate Judiciary Committee to hold hearings and investigate whether Kagan complied with federal ethics law and the Supreme Court's code of conduct, arguing public confidence in the judiciary depends on justices stepping aside whenever their impartiality "might reasonably be questioned."

The request mirrors the committee's most recent scrutiny of Supreme Court ethics. In 2023 and 2024, the Senate Judiciary Committee, then under Democratic control, investigated ethics concerns involving Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito following reports about undisclosed luxury travel, gifts and relationships with wealthy benefactors.

The committee held hearings and authorized subpoenas as part of its oversight, though the inquiry did not lead to impeachment proceedings.

The letter comes as Kagan is scheduled to appear alongside Justice Amy Coney Barrett before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday to testify on the Supreme Court's proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, one of the rare occasions sitting Supreme Court justices publicly testify before Congress.

The Supreme Court's Public Information Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

In 1974, I was a young U.S. Army lieutenant serving under then-Lt. Col. Colin Powell, who commanded my battalion, the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, in South Korea. Years later, as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Powell became associated with a doctrine that warned America should not commit military force without a clear political objective, sufficient force, public support and a defined way out. Half a century on, that standard, more than any weapon system, is what has been missing from Washington's approach to Iran.

That reality is again being tested in the war with Iran. The ceasefire that ended the spring war was supposed to create space for diplomacy. Instead, American forces are again striking Iranian targets, Iran is again threatening commercial shipping and the Strait of Hormuz is again the world's most dangerous choke point.

A familiar, dangerous pattern

None of that means President Donald Trump was wrong to hit back. No American president can allow Iran to attack commercial vessels, threaten global energy flows or test U.S. resolve without consequence. CENTCOM’s public releases confirm the pattern: after Iranian forces struck commercial vessels in Hormuz, U.S. forces struck back at Iranian air defense systems, coastal radar and naval assets to degrade Tehran’s ability to threaten shipping.

But retaliation is not strategy. The United States is back where it was before the memorandum of understanding took effect: Iran tests Hormuz, America strikes back, Tehran absorbs the punishment and the nuclear question remains unresolved.

On July 10, the U.N.’s International Maritime Organization called on member states to reject Iran’s attempt to assert unilateral control over transit through the strait, condemning the move as a violation of international law. Iran insists its actions are about maritime safety, not conquest. Washington sees freedom of navigation. Tehran sees leverage. The world sees oil prices and the risk of a wider war.

What end state does Trump want?

Trump's challenge is not whether to respond. He must. The real question is what end state those responses are supposed to produce. Bombers can destroy radars, launchers, depots and patrol boats, but they cannot by themselves produce a political outcome. That requires a clearly defined end state and the will to impose it.

So, what does Trump want? A non-nuclear Iran? An open Strait of Hormuz? An Iran that no longer threatens Israel, the Gulf states and international commerce? Those are worthy objectives, but they will not be achieved by episodic reaction strikes unless Tehran believes the cost of resistance exceeds the value of endurance.

ROUND ONE OF IRAN FIGHT WENT TO THE US MILITARY. BUT ENDING THINGS IS MUCH HARDER

Trump’s negotiating style is transactional; he understands pressure, leverage, cost and deals. Tehran operates from a different worldview, built on endurance, ideology, sacrifice and time rather than a businessman’s ledger of costs and benefits. When Trump calls Tehran’s calculus irrational, he is mirror imaging, judging Iranian decisions by American logic instead of reading them on Iran’s own terms. It cares about survival, but it does not think like a business counterparty looking for a better bargain.

A regime built on endurance

Tehran has built its identity around resistance, using martyrdom, revolutionary mythology and proxy warfare as instruments of statecraft for decades. During the Iran-Iraq War, young Iranian volunteers were reportedly sent into battle amid a martyrdom culture that included plastic "keys to paradise," symbols meant to assure them heaven if they died. That history does not mean Iran is irrational.

It means the regime can absorb punishment in ways Americans find hard to understand, and it means we cannot assume it will surrender after another round of strikes.

There is also a darker dimension. The Wall Street Journal reports Israeli intelligence recently warned Washington that Iran had developed a fresh plot to assassinate Trump. Iran has openly vowed revenge for the 2020 killing of Qassem Soleimani. That report deserves caution, but it reminds us this war is no longer abstract for the man making these decisions.

China and Russia are watching

Iran is not an isolated theater. China recently test-launched a long-range ballistic missile with a dummy warhead from a nuclear-powered submarine into the Pacific, signaling that Beijing’s nuclear deterrent no longer rests solely on land-based missiles. That does not make China a co-belligerent in Iran's war, but China buys roughly 90% of Iran's oil exports through opaque tanker networks and independent refineries, according to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, giving Beijing leverage to blunt sanctions pressure without joining the fight.

Russia benefits too when America is distracted in the Middle East. Neither power needs to fight beside Iran to profit; they simply need to watch America stay tied down.

Three paths forward

Trump now has three realistic paths, none of them clean. Tit-for-tat strikes punish Iran and may keep Hormuz partly open, but risk a recurring cycle that manages the crisis without solving the nuclear problem.

He can escalate toward a decisive campaign against the regime’s military, nuclear and command-and-control infrastructure, the only path that ends the threat at its source. But it risks regional war, an oil shock and pressure for U.S. ground forces, a political risk before the fall election if it appears open-ended.

Or Trump can adopt hard coercive containment: striking Iranian aggression whenever it occurs, keeping Hormuz open through coalition maritime power, enforcing sanctions, arming Israel and Gulf partners, warning Beijing and Moscow against assistance that strengthens Iran's war machine, and making intrusive nuclear verification the non-negotiable price of any relief. Call it what it is: the endless-war path.

It offers no decisive victory and no clean exit, only a war managed rather than won. It remains the least satisfying option rhetorically but the most defensible strategically: not appeasement, but sustained pressure that punishes Iran, denies it a nuclear weapon, and protects global commerce without an open-ended ground war, provided the president states the end state clearly and holds to it.

The worst choice would be to drift among these options: strike, pause, negotiate, strike again, and declare victory only because no better answer presents itself. That is how wars become traps, and Trump cannot afford it. Americans support force when it serves a clear purpose, and they grow far less patient when Washington seems to be striking because it has no better plan. A president can survive hard decisions. He is less likely to survive strategic confusion.

That end state should be stated publicly: no Iranian nuclear weapon, no Iranian control over Hormuz, no immunity for attacks on commercial shipping and no sanctions relief without verification. Washington should also warn Beijing and Moscow that helping Iran sustain this war carries its own consequences. This conflict is no longer only about Iran; it is a test of whether America can deter Tehran without inviting China and Russia to exploit its distraction.

The issue before Trump is not whether to bomb again. It is whether those bombs serve a strategy. He has shown he is willing to hit Iran. Now he must show the country what outcome those strikes are meant to produce.

If America is going to confront Iran, it must do more than punish the latest provocation. It must define the peace it is trying to impose.

Ronald Reagan's generous spirit often got him in trouble with those close to him.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, "Reagan" producer, Mark Joseph, spoke about his participation in the upcoming documentary, "Making Reagan," and also shared that the former president has a "spirit of being generous," but added that it would sometimes "cause problems for other people."

"Mike Reagan, his son, he got a scholarship to play football, I think, at a college in Arizona," Joseph said. "And Reagan calls up the school and says, 'You know what, fellas, my son has all the advantages in life. He doesn't need your scholarship, but thank you very much.' And Mike calls his dad, and he goes, 'Dad, you just lost me in my chance to play football.'"

Joseph explained that Reagan never wanted to "put on airs" and "wanted that slot to be given to someone that needed it," although his son ultimately "paid the price for it."

The producer added that his generous spirit extended toward his constituents, noting that "he was also just a soft touch for a hard luck story."

"If he would get a letter from somebody that his policies were affecting negatively, he would often write them a check and sometimes they wouldn't cash the check and sometimes he had to call the people and say 'Hey listen I'll send you another check cash the one that I sent you and keep the one that I'm gonna send you next,'" he said. "So there's a kind of a combination of generosity, but also his policies were tough and there were effects of that."

Joseph spoke to Fox News Digital ahead of the release of the documentary, "Making Reagan," which focuses on the making of the 2024 hit biopic, "Reagan," and features interviews with Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller and other stars of the film.

The documentary, which will be available on Fox Nation, will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the movie set and give fans a look at the making of the box office hit, which brought in $26 million domestically.

"I think we talk a lot in the documentary about COVID. And Jon Voight does such a great job in the piece and ends the piece basically in tears. But he just talks about some of the things we encountered where, if one person gets COVID, the entire set shuts down, which is just completely insane and illogical," he said. 'Literally, the entire set would shut down for 10 days. And that happened to us twice. And I think your viewers will also see that when Ron kisses Nancy in the hospital after the assassination attempt, in real life, that is the moment of COVID transmission from Dennis Quaid to Penelope Ann Miller. We're not sure who gave it to who, but they both got it."

Through speaking with over 50 of the former president's aides, Joseph was able to get a comprehensive understanding of Reagan, including the "personal demons" he was fighting on the inside.

In addition to speaking with aides, Joseph revealed he was able to prepare for the film by reading the KGB and FBI files about Reagan, which he called "interesting" and "very helpful."

"The KGB files said he was very conservative and a hardliner," he said. "But they also said that he was vain, which is understandable. He's a Hollywood actor. And he was prestigious. From their perspective, that means religious. And so vain and superstitious were the KGB’s analysis of Ronald Reagan."

He continued: "The FBI files were also very interesting because they would interview his neighbors because as governor of California, he had, there were nuclear weapons on California soil. And so they had to interview his neighbor. And the neighbor interviews were fascinating because neighbors and friends would often say he is a crazy, insane right-winger, but also a very nice guy. There's always this combination of politics or crazy, but very nice guys."

Quaid famously portrayed the former president in the film, with Joseph telling Fox News Digital that the actor "was always my first choice," as "there's just something intangible about Dennis." Ultimately the decision paid off, as he praised Quaid for having fully "immersed himself in the role and the character."

Having done extensive research on Reagan, Joseph explained that one lesson he learned from the president was his special way of "counter-punching," noting Reagan had a way of getting you back, in a way that "didn't feel like you were being punched."

"One of his aides told me that one time they were landing in a South American country and they had learned that upon landing, Reagan was going to be attacked by the leader of that country," Joseph explained. "And so Reagan's aide said, 'This is great, Mr. President, let me write a speech attacking him right back.' And Reagan said, 'No, we're gonna do just the opposite. When I land, I'm gonna praise that leader, and he'll be so ashamed he won't give the speech attacking me.' And that's what happened. And so there's a certain deft touch that Reagan had, that he was no slouch, but he would get you back, but your dignity would be intact as he defeated you."

Ukrainian prime minister resigns in Zelenskyy shake-up

Ukraine's wartime government is getting another shake-up after Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stepped down Sunday, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying he has offered her a "new, important" role as he reshapes his administration during the ongoing war with Russia.

Svyrydenko announced her resignation in a statement on social media, saying she was "proud to have had the honor of leading the government during one of the most difficult periods in Ukraine's modern history." She said she had discussed "next steps" with Zelenskyy, but did not disclose what her next position would be.

"I remain ready to serve the Ukrainian state and carry out every task aimed at strengthening Ukraine's position, defending our national interests and bringing a just peace closer," Svyrydenko wrote.

The Ukrainian president said each major area of foreign policy would be assigned to an experienced official responsible for carrying out agreements reached with foreign leaders and advancing the interests of the Ukrainian people. He also announced planned changes to the country's top law enforcement leadership, though he did not immediately provide additional details.
