Multiple injured after floatplane makes emergency landing, catches fire off Washington coast

All 10 passengers and the pilot were accounted for after a Kenmore Air de Havilland DHC-3 Otter went down in North Beach Shallow Bay

Multiple people were injured Thursday after a Kenmore Air floatplane made an emergency landing off the Washington coast before catching fire, prompting a massive rescue operation, authorities said.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it received a report around 5:25 p.m. local time that a Kenmore Air seaplane had made an emergency landing in North Beach Shallow Bay off Sucia Island before bursting into flames.

Authorities said all 10 passengers and the pilot were accounted for.

SEN TIM SHEEHY MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AFTER IN-FLIGHT ENGINE FAILURE

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office said multiple people suffered injuries ranging from head trauma to broken bones and lacerations.

Kenmore Air said four passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Authorities said one person was in critical condition. No fatalities were immediately reported.

The airline said it was working closely with investigators and would provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

MISSOURI SKYDIVING PLANE CRASH THAT KILLED ALL 12 ABOARD IS A 'DEVASTATING LOSS,' COMPANY SAYS

Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel said the company's immediate focus was on those aboard the aircraft.

"We are grateful that everyone aboard has been accounted for, and our immediate focus is ensuring our passengers and pilot receive the care and support they need," Gudgel said.

"We extend our sincere thanks to the United States Coast Guard, local emergency responders, and everyone assisting in the response," he continued. "Kenmore Air is fully cooperating with the investigating authorities, and we will continue providing verified information as it becomes available."

The airline said the aircraft involved was a de Havilland DHC-3 Otter operating near Sucia Island.

According to the sheriff's office, the flight departed Seattle's Lake Union and was headed to Roche Harbor Marina on San Juan Island.

A Kenmore Air spokesperson told Fox News Digital the route between Lake Union and the San Juan Islands is a routine flight for the airline.

"If you live here, you would be potentially taking a seaplane up there," the spokesperson said.

COAST GUARD HELICOPTER CRASHES DURING ALASKA TRAINING MISSION, INJURING FOUR CREW MEMBERS

The sheriff's office said multiple agencies responded by deploying boats and emergency personnel to the scene.

The U.S. Navy also responded, while three air ambulance helicopters transported injured passengers.

Orcas Island Fire & Rescue, Lopez Island Fire & Rescue, San Juan Island Fire & Rescue and San Juan County Parks also responded.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the U.S. Coast Guard for additional comment.

Former Fever player responds to Sophie Cunningham by alleging Indiana harassment cover-up

The former Fever player's allegations came after Sophie Cunningham defended women's sports for biological females on ESPN

The Indiana Fever are facing new scrutiny after former player Brianna Turner accused the organization of firing a male staff member over sexual harassment allegations during her time with the team, weighing in after Sophie Cunningham's comments on trans athletes.

Turner, a Fever player in 2025 and now with the Las Vegas Aces, made the allegations on X after Cunningham defended women's sports for biological females during an ESPN interview.

Cunningham said she wants to "protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS WNBA STAR SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM AFTER SHE SPEAKS OUT IN SUPPORT OF PROTECTING WOMEN'S SPORTS

Turner barked at Cunningham's claims, saying organizations like the Fever are a greater threat to the game than trans athletes. According to Turner, the Fever fired a male staff member after allegations of sexual harassment but instructed players not to discuss the matter publicly.

She madly defended trans inclusion, pointing to former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, who was born female before later identifying as transgender.

"To date there's been one out trans player in the league. They caused zero problems," Turner wrote on X.

WNBA PLAYER FACES BACKLASH OVER OP-ED CRITICIZING IOC FOR POLICY TO PROTECT WOMEN'S SPORTS

Turner contrasted that with the alleged conduct of the fired staff member, adding, "That is an issue. Sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism are all issues."

The Indiana Fever released a statement Thursday in response to Turner's claims.

"Protecting our players and employees and maintaining a respectful, professional workplace is our top priority," the Fever said.

"Our policy is to take concerns seriously, investigate thoroughly, and act promptly when appropriate to protect the people in our organization and ensure everyone is treated with professionalism and respect."

The team concluded, "Fostering trust and safety in that process means we do not comment on personnel matters involving former employees."

It remains unclear whether the WNBA will review Turner's allegations.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

As of Thursday, the league had not announced an investigation or publicly commented.

Send us your thoughts: alejandro.avila@outkick.com / Follow along on X: @alejandroaveela

California mayor's hot mic catches candid exchange after audience sends meeting off rails

Karina Talamantes and Kevin McCarty were heard strategizing after chambers were cleared during immigration debate

A live microphone exposed a behind-the-scenes conversation between Sacramento's mayor and vice mayor as they discussed whether disruptive protesters could be barred from future city council meetings after a heated immigration-related debate descended into chaos.

"We should go over this disruptions thing, because if we want to ban somebody in the future, like to take them out, we have to point out specifically…" Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes is heard saying.

"I know, but the city attorney said we can't do that," Mayor Kevin McCarty replied.

"We did it last time," Talamantes responded.

GOP SENATORS RALLY AROUND NEW DHS PROPOSAL TARGETING SANCTUARY CITIES: 'SHOULD PAY A PRICE'

"We can't," McCarty said, shaking his head. "I spent my first six months going over this. I wanted to give people, like, probation, like, you can't come…"

Talamantes then appeared to realize the microphone was still live and quickly reached over to switch it off before continuing the conversation, according to the publicly available city council livestream reviewed by Fox News Digital.

The awkward exchange unfolded Tuesday after Sacramento City Council recessed and ordered the public removed from the chambers following repeated disruptions during a fiery debate over the city's continued participation in a regional intelligence-sharing center.

The confrontation escalated after Talamantes defended accepting federal funding for the Central California Intelligence Center, or CCIC, arguing Sacramento's sanctuary city policies and immigrant protections made the city better suited to oversee the grant than other jurisdictions.

"The city of Sacramento is a sanctuary city," Talamantes said during the meeting. "If we don't pass these dollars, other counties will apply for these dollars, they will get those dollars and we will have no safeguards to protect our immigrant communities here in Sacramento."

Dozens of speakers had earlier urged the council to reject the agreement, arguing the intelligence center could facilitate information sharing with federal immigration authorities and undermine Sacramento's sanctuary city policies.

Police officials repeatedly disputed those claims during the meeting, telling council members Sacramento does not share personal identifying information for civil immigration enforcement and complies with California's sanctuary law, known as SB 54.

DHS LAWYER SAYS UCLA 'UTTERLY FAILED' TO STOP PROTEST CHAOS AT LAW SCHOOL APPEARANCE

As public comment grew increasingly heated, one speaker repeatedly demanded McCarty pay attention.

"Kevin, I need your f---ing eyes. Kevin, listen to me. Stop being an a--hole, dude. Listen to your f---ing constituents," the speaker shouted.

Following Talamantes' remarks, another round of shouting erupted inside the council chambers.

WATCH: HEARING DERAILS AS PURPLE-HAIRED DEM POINTS FINGER, SCREAMS AT CHAIR TO PUT DHS CHIEF 'IN HIS PLACE'

"You're a pick-me b----," one attendee shouted at Talamantes, while others yelled, "Shame on you."

McCarty responded with what he described as a "final notice."

"This is the final notice," the mayor said. "We're going to continue with the deliberation, and if there's any more outbursts, we're gonna have to ask the audience to leave."

Seconds later, the disruptions intensified.

"You can't do this behind closed f---ing doors!" one attendee shouted.

"We are the community," another yelled.

"You represent us. You are our f---ing audience," another voice exclaimed as council members attempted to continue the meeting.

Council officials then paused the meeting and cleared the chambers after repeated disruptions prevented deliberations from continuing.

Following the meeting, McCarty said the private conversation focused on existing meeting procedures, not new restrictions.

"Every Tuesday, Vice Mayor Talamantes and I are responsible for overseeing and ensuring transparent, accessible, and open Council meetings," McCarty said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Unfortunately, when meetings are repeatedly disrupted, we must discuss existing policies and rules to ensure Council meetings remain effective, orderly, and respectful for both the residents in attendance and the Councilmembers. We are committed to ensuring that all members of the public can access and engage safely without distraction or intimidation."

The Sacramento City Attorney's Office declined to address McCarty's reference to legal advice during the hot-mic exchange.

"The City Attorney's Office has no comment and will not be providing comment on this matter," the office said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The city's published meeting rules state that members of the public receive two minutes per agenda item and may speak on no more than four items during a meeting, limits intended to help the council conduct city business.

The hot-mic exchange quickly drew criticism from some activists, who argued Talamantes appeared interested in silencing vocal opponents.

Joshua Masias, a volunteer organizer with the Sac Immigration Committee, told The Sacramento Bee the conversation showed an authoritative approach toward members of the public.

"It's very authoritative how she wants to use her power," Masias told the outlet. "It stuck out to me that she was the only one to try to silence the crowd."

Resident Leanna Hunt, one of the council's most outspoken critics, also defended the protesters' frustration.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"I'm fed up," Hunt told the Bee. "It's not even a tactic — I'm just tired of being treated like we are an audience and that the king is deigning to see us peasants today and when the peasants are unruly, the king gets upset."

Fox News Digital reached out to Vice Mayor Talamantes' office, Sacramento Police Department and the Sac Immigration Committee for additional comment.

ESPN's Adam Schefter weighs in on LeBron James' NBA future after Heat press conference post sparks buzz

ESPN insider shared the message on air as the Heat accidentally posted a July 27 introductory press conference on YouTube

LeBron James made it clear last month that retirement was not yet in his plans. The four-time NBA MVP said he plans to keep playing in 2026-27, but not with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Sixteen years ago, James placed his free agency at the center of a nationally televised spectacle. "The Decision," a special tied to his work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, ended with James revealing he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

James left Miami in 2014 to return to his home state of Ohio, where he ultimately delivered the Cavaliers their first NBA title in 2016. He changed teams again in 2018, joining the Lakers.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

More recently, speculation has surfaced that James could be eyeing another return, this time to South Florida. Miami only fueled that talk earlier this week when it shared a since-deleted social media post linking to what was billed as the "LeBron James Introductory Press Conference."

A Heat team spokesperson later told ESPN the purported livestream event was not legitimate.

"I haven't read anything about, I haven't spoken to (anyone about it). But my guess would be where there's smoke, there's fire," ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said in about the link in question.

AGENT RICH PAUL SAYS LEBRON JAMES WON'T BE RUSHED ON NBA FREE AGENCY DECISION DESPITE OUTSIDE PRESSURE

Schefter’s comments aligned with the growing speculation that James could land in Miami alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo next season.

"Had a text that said just be ready for LeBron to go to Miami. I can read you the exact text," Schefter continued during a recent appearance on Philadelphia's 97.5 The Fanatic. "‘I’m hearing Bron is coming to the Miami Heat, just want to give you a heads up. You may want to check it out.’"

Schefter pointed to a tip he said he received on June 30, when reports first surfaced that James would consider playing his 24th NBA season away from the Lakers.

The Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers have also been linked to James.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

James remained productive last season, averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds across 60 games. He remains the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Tomi Lahren defends OutKick's ESPN scoop, torches Jemele Hill, backs Sophie Cunningham

Lahren called Cunningham the only active female professional athlete willing to take the political risk on trans athletes

Jemele Hill came after OutKick over our scoop on ESPN host Ryan Clark's departure.

Tomi Lahren answered with a blowtorch.

On Thursday, Lahren appeared on both "Tomi Lahren Is Fearless" and "America Reports." Across the two appearances, she addressed two of the week's biggest sports stories: Jemele Hill's outrage over OutKick's reporting and Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham doubling down Wednesday on her support for protecting women's sports from trans athletes after the WNBA media predictably lost (her) mind.

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS WNBA STAR SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM AFTER SHE SPEAKS OUT IN SUPPORT OF PROTECTING WOMEN'S SPORTS

Lahren started with Cunningham, praising the Fever guard for refusing to retreat from what she called a matter of common sense:

Jemele Hill criticized OutKick after we broke the news of ESPN's latest layoffs before the network publicly announced them. Journalism, we're told, had finally gone too far.

EXCLUSIVE: ESPN TO PART WAYS WITH CAM NEWTON AS PART OF TALENT LAYOFFS THAT ALSO INCLUDED RYAN CLARK

Hill called for OutKick's demise and said she'd need to be rushed to the hospital from laughter alone.

So, Lahren unloaded on Jemele.

WATCH:

OutKick founder Clay Travis summed up Tomi's response: "off the top rope!"

Even Stephen A. Smith has taken positions on women's sports that would've been unthinkable at ESPN just a few years ago.

Hill is still defending a media playbook her former industry keeps throwing away.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Meanwhile, Cunningham isn't backing down.
Massachusetts Democratic Party chairman admits to sufficient facts in June drunken driving case

Steve Kerrigan's license was suspended for 45 days after failed breathalyzer during a traffic stop: police

The leader of the Massachusetts Democratic Party was arrested during a traffic stop on alleged drunken driving charges last month and days later admitted to prosecutors there were sufficient facts to support a conviction, according to state court records.

A judge on June 15 — two days after the traffic stop in the town of Southborough — continued the operating under the influence (OUI) liquor charge without a finding after Steve Kerrigan, chairman of the state's Democratic Party, entered an "admission to sufficient facts," a Massachusetts legal disposition in which a defendant acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to obtain a conviction, according to Westborough District Court records.

In addition to the OUI charge, Kerrigan, 54, faced a negligent operation charge and a marked lanes violation. The negligent operation charge was dismissed, and he was found not responsible for the marked lanes violation.

The judge sentenced Kerrigan to a year's probation, suspended his driver's license for 45 days, ordered him to pay $600 in fees and required him to complete an impaired driving education program.

COLORADO DEMOCRATS FORMALLY CENSURE GOV POLIS OVER TINA PETERS COMMUTATION

Kerrigan was elected chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party in 2023. He was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in 2014, and previously served as an executive with the Democratic National Convention Committee. He also serves as president and CEO of the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center.

According to a Southborough Police Department report, an officer stopped Kerrigan shortly after midnight on June 13, after observing his BMW traveling on or over the lane divider.

The officer wrote that Kerrigan's eyes appeared "glassy" and "bloodshot red" and that his speech was slow and slurred. The report states the officer could not detect the smell of alcohol because of what was described as an "overwhelming odor of cologne."

FLORIDA MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER TROOPERS ALLEGEDLY FIND 34 OPEN ALCOHOL CONTAINERS IN VEHICLE

Kerrigan told the officer he was driving home from a restaurant and said he had consumed two beers around 6 p.m. before dinner, according to the report.

Police administered field sobriety tests before Kerrigan provided a breath sample that registered a 0.089% blood alcohol content, according to the report. The legal blood alcohol limit in Massachusetts is 0.08%.

Kerrigan acknowledged the incident in a statement provided to Boston.com through his attorney, Andrea Levy.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"In June, I was pulled over for a marked lanes violation and blew a .089 on the breathalyzer," Kerrigan said. "I regret and take full responsibility for my actions and their consequences and appreciate the Southborough Police Department and the Westborough Court for their professionalism and service."

The Massachusetts Democratic Party did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Thursday a new visa restriction policy targeting foreign nationals responsible for or complicit in cybercrime and cyber-enabled crime.

"This policy targets individuals responsible for, or complicit in, cybercrime and cyber-enabled crime, such as those involved in cyberscams, and sextortion," Rubio said in a statement.

Certain immediate family members of people covered by the policy may also be subject to the State Department's new visa restrictions, according to Rubio.

TRUMP LAUNCHES GOLD EAGLE TO HUNT CYBER FLAWS WITH AI

President Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier this year titled "Combatting Cybercrime, Fraud, and Predatory Schemes Against American Citizens" directs federal agencies to develop measures against foreign scam centers, transnational criminal organizations and cyber-enabled financial fraud.

The administration, Rubio said, "is taking action to counter an unprecedented threat from online investment scams."

WHAT A SCAMMER SEES THE MOMENT THEY GOOGLE YOUR NAME

"Often orchestrated by Chinese transnational criminal organizations, scammers have defrauded U.S. citizens of at least $10 billion in 2024 alone while fueling corruption, money laundering, and human trafficking," the secretary said.

"American children also have been specifically targeted by offenders operating overseas for sextortion scams, devastating families and futures," he continued.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Rubio said the administration is "deploying every tool at our disposal—sanctions, prosecutions, asset seizures, extradition requests, and international law enforcement cooperation—to dismantle criminal scam networks and impose costs on those who enable them."

"By restricting visa issuance to those who are responsible for or complicit in these criminal enterprises, we are sending a clear message: The United States will go after those who prey on our citizens," he said.

Trump DOJ withdraws subpoenas targeting New York Times journalists amid leak probe

The Times report Trump skipped using the Qatar-gifted Air Force One due to security concerns during escalations with Iran

The Justice Department withdrew subpoenas Thursday it had previously filed against three New York Times journalists as part of a leak probe.

The DOJ sought the grand jury testimony and phone records of Times journalists Tyler Pager, Julian Barnes, Eric Schmitt and Eric Lipton, all of whom had a byline on a report published earlier this month revealing President Donald Trump flew home from Turkey on his old Air Force One instead of the new Qatar-donated Boeing 747-8 he flew into the NATO summit amid security concerns, something Trump denied.

The Times report, citing anonymous sources, prompted a leak probe by the DOJ, hoping to target those who gave the Times journalists the sensitive information.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SUBPOENAS NY TIMES JOURNALISTS IN GRAND JURY LEAK PROBE TIED TO AIR FORCE ONE REPORT

"Today’s proceeding was an important affirmation of our country’s commitment to a free press," New York Times Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel David McCraw said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We are pleased that the government finally conceded that the subpoenas violated the law, but they should never have been issued in the first place. The Times and our journalists will continue to report and seek the truth without fear or favor. We will not be deterred in the face of tactics like these."

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

HEGSETH ANNOUNCES JOINT TASK FORCE WITH DOJ TO PROSECUTE LEAKS TO JOURNALISTS 'WITH THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW'

Upon his departure from the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump flew out on his old Air Force One instead of the new one gifted to the administration by Qatar that he had previously used. However, the Times alleged the change was made due to the escalated military tensions between the U.S. and Iran.

TRUMP SAYS HE'S IRAN'S 'NO. 1' TARGET AS RENEWED CONFLICT RAISES ASSASSINATION FEARS

Trump dismissed any security concerns with the jet, instead posting on Truth Social that the Mildenhall stop was conducted so service members stationed on the base could view the new aircraft.

The subpoenas targeting the Times journalists sparked an outcry among critics, accusing the Trump administration of violating First Amendment rights.

The DOJ previously defended the subpoenas, highlighting the crime of leaking national security information while stressing that the Times journalists weren't the target of the probe.

"We value and appreciate the important role that the press plays in this country, but DOJ also plays an important role to make sure that the people entrusted with our nation's secrets do what they're supposed to do with that information, which means not sharing classified information," a DOJ spokesperson said at the time. "We recognize there may always be natural tension there, but we are not going to ignore the law and stop investigating the people who work in the administration and think it's okay to leak classified information impacting national security."

Fox News' Julia Bonavita contributed to this report.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Suspect arrested after allegedly yelling ‘Allahu Akbar,' stabbing 2 men in NYC attack

The incident happened near Central Park West, home to one of New York City's largest Jewish communities

A suspect is in custody after allegedly yelling "Allahu Akbar" while stabbing two men in what officials are describing as an apparent antisemitic attack in Manhattan's Upper West Side Thursday afternoon.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) said one of the victims is Jewish and that witnesses reported hearing the suspect yell "Allahu Akbar" during both assaults, which took place near West 84th Street and Central Park West, a large Jewish community.

Investigators are evaluating whether the reported attacks should be classified as a hate crime and identified the suspect as Raul Morales, 51, in both assaults.

According to the NYPD, the victims were stabbed in what appeared to be two separate attacks that happened near one another.

NYC ANTISEMITIC INCIDENTS NEARLY TRIPLE DESPITE OTHER CRIMES REACHING RECORD LOWS

A 57-year-old man was reportedly attacked near West 84th Street and Central Park West just after 1:30 p.m.

Officials said officers found him conscious and alert with a stab wound to his back. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators later found a 50-year-old man nearby with a stab wound to his torso. He was also conscious and alert and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Initial NYPD findings suggest mental health may have been a factor.

"While the perpetrator has no known mental health history with the NYPD, the initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor," Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

WABC reported that police are investigating whether the suspect used a knife or a screwdriver during the alleged attacks.

Hours after the attack, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who recently called on the federal government to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said he had been briefed on what he described as "horrifying stabbings" and noted the victims were an Asian man and a Jewish man.

"According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled 'Allahu Akbar' during both attacks," Mamdani said. "The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults — and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response."

Mamdani issued his statement roughly two hours after City Council Speaker Julie Menin and about 45 minutes after Gov. Kathy Hochul.

CALLS FOR US TO DO MORE AS ANTISEMITIC ACTS SKYROCKET IN EUROPE: 'ENORMOUSLY PAINFUL'

"I am absolutely sickened and furious by what appears to be an antisemitic stabbing on the Upper West Side," Menin wrote in a post on X.

"While we await additional details to be confirmed, we know that what is happening in our city is abhorrent," Menin said. "The fear in the Jewish community is real. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, regardless of their faith or identity.

"We must remain united in condemning antisemitism and ensuring those responsible are held fully accountable," she added. "I thank the NYPD for its swift response in apprehending the assailant."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

New York Assembly member Micah Lasher, a Jewish representative of the area, said he was also in contact with investigators.

"I am in touch with the NYPD and community leaders about the stabbing of two individuals on the Upper West Side today," Lasher said. "The NYPD responded immediately and has apprehended a suspect. I am praying for the survival and recovery of the victims and will provide more information as I have it."

Hochul posted on X, saying she is "disgusted by what appears to be another senseless attack on New Yorkers simply because they’re Jewish."

"The strength of New York has always been our ability to live together across every faith and background," Hochul added. "Anyone who tries to tear that apart will be met with the full force of the law. New York will stand with our Jewish community today, tomorrow, and always."

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Gideon Sa'ar added he was "appalled but sadly not surprised" by the incident, blaming Mamdani for creating "a climate in which Jews are targeted."

"I am appalled by the horrific antisemitic stabbing attack in New York. Appalled but sadly not surprised," he said in a post on X.

"This violence did not happen in a vacuum. Months of incitement against the Jewish state from Mamdani have helped create a climate in which Jews are targeted. Words have consequences. Mamdani must end the incitement, confront antisemitism with resolve, and act now to protect the city’s Jewish community."

Mamdani's office, along with the FBI, did not immediately respond to further inquiries from Fox News Digital.

Scottie Scheffler addresses growing rivalry between Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau after The Open

McIlroy called DeChambeau's threat to withdraw 'holding the tournament hostage' at Royal Birkdale

The Open Championship just closed out the 2026 major championship season, and somehow one of the most unexpected winners in recent memory, Ryan Fox, hasn't been the story.

Instead? It's once again Bryson DeChambeau. DeChambeau was a lightning rod for criticism ahead of The Open when analysts Nick Faldo and Brandel Chamblee had harsh words for his approach. Faldo said he lacked the "strategy" to succeed in links golf, that he hits driver as far as he can and hopes for the best instead of trying to "thread" it down the fairway.

Chamblee had a broader complaint: He believes DeChambeau has spent more time chasing YouTube golf star Grant Horvat than trying to run down the best in the world, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. So how did Bryson respond? In the most Bryson way possible.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU CLAPS BACK AT NICK FALDO, OTHER CRITICS, AFTER -3 ROUND AT THE OPEN: 'INCREDIBLY STRATEGIC'

He immediately put himself in contention with a strong 3-under 67 first round. Afterward, he said in his media appearance that he had been very "strategic" when playing Royal Birkdale, a clear response to Faldo. Round two, however, was where he really became the center of attention.

After the round was completed, a seeming 4-under 66, rules officials brought DeChambeau back to the fifth hole, where they assessed him a two-stroke penalty for improving the area around his backswing. DeChambeau was furious, and apparently threatened to withdraw from the tournament in protest.

Some players, like Xander Schauffele, came to his defense. Scottie Scheffler also was adamant that the 32-year-old is not a "cheater."

One player who didn't come to his defense? Rory McIlroy. McIlroy was clear in his post-round comments that he doesn't care for DeChambeau and believed he deserved the penalty.

"I won’t pretend to be up here and defend Bryson," he told reporters during the tournament. "I’m not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it is performative. I think a lot of it’s for attention.

"To hold the tournament hostage like that and to have all of us — players, volunteers, everyone — waiting on him to depart, I didn’t feel like it was a great look," McIlroy said.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU DETAILS THE TWO COMPLICATED HURDLES IN HIS WAY OF A POTENTIAL PGA TOUR RETURN

"I think there’s no doubt that he improved the line of his backswing," he added. "Again, it’s like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don’t think it matters. Hopefully, it was careless, but I think the two-shot penalty was justified, for sure."

This marked the latest entry in the budding rivalry between the two big names and big personalities in professional golf. They're on opposite sides of Ryder Cup battles. DeChambeau was one of the earliest and largest stars to depart for LIV Golf, while McIlroy became a sort of player spokesman defending the PGA Tour. McIlroy has never done a full 18-hole match on YouTube, while DeChambeau's made his channel into a behemoth, filming rounds with President Donald Trump and many others.

Ahead of this week's 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota, Scheffler was asked whether he believes the rivalry is good for golf, and gave a typically incisive answer.

"I think golf's different in a sense of a lot of other sports because my biggest rival week in and week out is the golf course that we're playing," he told the media. "I mean, I could never stop somebody from doing anything in golf. I felt like when I played basketball there would always be rivalries in basketball because you're going to play defense against a person and that is much more personal in a sense like because I'm actively trying to stop...like if you and I were going to go out and play one-on-one, it would turn into a rivalry because I'm actively trying to stop what you're doing.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

"But in golf, we're always competing against ourselves on the golf course. I've never been a big fan of personal jabs. I don't think that rivalry is a big thing in golf just because, like I said, my biggest rivalry week in and week out is the golf course."

There have been a few instances of McIlroy and DeChambeau facing off with a tournament on the line, though they've never gone head-to-head in a Ryder Cup. Most of the rivalry seems to be McIlroy disliking Bryson for either his personality or his departure for LIV, and DeChambeau playing into it, because as he's put it, "rivalries are good" for golf.

Which is what makes the rivalry so fascinating. It's not competitive, it's personal. Scheffler and McIlroy have faced off in Ryder Cups, for example, yet there seems to be only mutual respect between the two.

OUTKICK IS NOW ON THE FOX APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

One thing is certain, though: 2027 will be a fascinating season in the golf world. Between the potential collapse of LIV Golf, the (mostly) iconic venues hosting major championships and yet another Ryder Cup where both are guaranteed selections, this time back in Europe, there'll be plenty of opportunities for Rory and Bryson to face off.

Timothy Olyphant revealed the surprising truth behind his computer-free lifestyle

The 'Justified' star said he relies on his phone for everything and had never been tempted to buy a computer

Call it an old-school approach.

Timothy Olyphant revealed he had to resurrect an old computer in an attempt to log on to the "SmartLess" podcast. Ultimately, he wound up using a friend's office to make the interview happen.

"I needed a computer," Olyphant, 58, told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. "I guess you can't do your show if you don't own a computer."

As the hosts pressed him, Olyphant doubled down on his surprisingly low-tech lifestyle.

JENNIFER GARNER KEEPS HER KIDS OFF SOCIAL MEDIA: 'FIND SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE' IT'S GOOD FOR TEENS

"I got like a, you know, I got a phone and I got a thing," the "Justified" star said. "That's all you gotta do."

"I don't buy it," Bateman questioned. "You don't have, and you being an artist, you don't have an iPad with one of those little, one of those little stylist pen thingies?"

The "Five-Star Weekend" actor then explained that while he technically owned a desktop computer, it had been sitting unused long enough to become a project in itself.

"We went… I had a… we went and got out an old desktop computer that we still have in the house and plugged it in and started it up, and they were all USB things."

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER

The aging machine proved to be another obstacle. After digging out the outdated desktop and getting it running, Olyphant joked that appearing on the podcast required far more effort than expected.

"There's a lot of sacrifices that went into this guys," he admitted. "And don't get me wrong, I appreciate ... I'm super honored, and it is a pleasure to be here. I'm a big fan. I listen – I don't listen – but I read the transcripts. And the show's very good. Very, very, very good."

Bateman wasn't ready to let the conversation go, continuing to question Olyphant's aversion to computers.

"But wait, but Tim, you've never been tempted to buy a laptop or a desktop just to see the landscape out there, like all the different sites you can go visit to expose yourself to?" Bateman said.

"Felt condescending," Olyphant replied.

LIKE WHAT YOU'RE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

Bateman then shifted the conversation to artificial intelligence, wondering whether Olyphant had any interest in the technology despite avoiding computers.

"All this talk about AI and stuff. Not curious to see what the fuss is about?" the "Arrested Development" actor added.

"But you can do all that on… on the little phones," Olyphant emphasized.

Olyphant landed his breakthrough role in 1999 with the cult crime comedy "Go." His performances in "Deadwood" and "Justified" cemented his star status. His other notable works include "Santa Clarita Diet," "The Mandalorian," "The Book of Boba Fett" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Megan Rapinoe blames Trump for US Mens soccer team losing 'underdog' vibe in World Cup

Two-time FIFA Women's World Cup winner told 'The Daily Show' that red card controversy threw men's team off their game

Megan Rapinoe put blame on President Donald Trump for the U.S. mens soccer team's World Cup loss on Tuesday, saying the president's involvement killed the team's underdog vibe in the tournament.

"The Daily Show" host Desi Lydic asked Rapinoe about the red card given to U.S. player Folarin Balogun in their Round of 32 match, which was eventually suspended. Trump admitted to calling FIFA President Gianni Infantino to ask for a review of the red card.

"How do you think that affected the men's team?" Lydic asked Rapinoe.

"Certainly not well, it didn't give them the boost, maybe, that they were thinking it would or that Trump was hoping that it would," she responded. "I don't know. It seemed like it kind of like, threw them off their game."

FOLARIN BALOGUN ADMITS THAT RED-CARD REVERSAL AFFECTED USA WORLD CUP TEAMMATES: 'A LOT OF OUTSIDE NOISE'

"But it didn't go well. They had, like, such a good vibe," she added. "I feel like they had, like, the underdog kind of vibe going. And then you-know-who got involved, and everyone was like, nope. No. We don't like it. And then, obviously, Belgium was like, 'No, we absolutely can't lose to this team now.'"

Rapinoe, who won two World Cup titles with the women's national soccer team, said she didn't know the rules and wasn't a referee.

"No other president in history could have pulled off the historic feat that President Trump delivered for the American people and the world. Thanks to his bold vision and decisive leadership, the 2026 FIFA World Cup generated billions of dollars in revenue, created a massive economic boost across host cities, and delivered a safe, secure, and seamless experience for millions of fans and athletes from around the globe. It will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest and most successful sporting events in history," White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Rapinoe said during her podcast "A Touch More: The Beautiful Game," that Trump's involvement was a distraction.

LA GALAXY COACH GREG VANNEY SAYS TEAM USA WAS 'TOO NAIVE,' EXPLAINS CHRISTIAN PULISIC'S STRUGGLES

"I think the distraction got to the team for sure in some type of way. Whether it was, you know, this red card situation, whether it was being in a public discourse with this president, all of the, you know, shenanigans and chaos that comes with the feelings on both sides of that. Whether you agree with it or not it's — it's just like it's a lot to contend with," Rapinoe said.

"So, not only does this team not have like a core of older players who are used to that, but none of these players talk about anything ever, like for the most part," she continued.

"I think in men's football, just like in general, there's not a lot of players who are choosing to use their platform or to, you know, broaden their scope of pressure and responsibility," she said.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

The U.S. men's national team lost to Belgium in the Round of 16 match following the red card controversy.

Balogun told CBS after the loss that there was a lot of outside noise leading up to it.

"My initial reaction was I was happy to be back in the team, but when I kind of started to reflect, I knew it was going to cause a lot of controversy, and I could almost see within my teammates a bit of nerves, because it is something that is so unique," Balogun told CBS in mid-July.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"The closer we got to the game, I tried to just focus as best as I could, but it was difficult.
Ex-Denver Nuggets star Ty Lawson hurls 'white b---h' insult at cop after Tito's vodka theft arrest

Lawson allegedly took the bottle while intoxicated and was found by Castle Rock Police at a nearby restaurant

Ty Lawson made millions of dollars during an eight-year NBA career. Last week, a $34 bottle of Tito's vodka led to his arrest.

Instead of showing remorse, the former Denver Nuggets guard went on the attack, repeatedly calling a Castle Rock Police Department officer a "white b*tch" during his arrest before later claiming on social media that he was the victim.

The bottle of vodka was worth $34. Lawson was booked into Douglas County Jail on a shoplifting charge.

JAMES HARDEN ARRESTED IN HOUSTON ON MISDEMEANOR WEAPONS CHARGE AFTER NBA PLAYOFF EXIT: REPORT

According to the arrest details, Lawson smelled strongly of alcohol during his arrest on July 16. He allegedly took the bottle of Tito's while intoxicated and was later found by officers sitting at a nearby restaurant.

The retired NBA player then took to social media to defend his behavior, instead launching into a familiar "America is racist" rant on X.

According to the arrest report, Lawson repeatedly taunted the officer by calling her a "b—h" and "white b—h" during the encounter.

ANGEL REESE’S LATEST WNBA CONTROVERSY SHOWS HOW VICTIMHOOD BECAME CENTRAL TO HER BRAND

He later wrote on X: "Being black in America is tough…. Being lied to by a pasty face white woman wild… stay outta castle rock Colorado!!!!

"This the wildest and more racist s–t I been thru."

For someone insisting he was the victim of racism, Lawson showed little hesitation in reducing the arresting officer to the color of her skin.

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL SAYS HE DOESN'T TEXT NBA PLAYERS PAST OR PRESENT BECAUSE 'THEY'RE A--HOLES'

From 2009 to 2015, Lawson was a key piece of the Denver Nuggets' backcourt. He also played on Roy Williams' NCAA championship-winning North Carolina team in 2009.

Many online questioned how a former NBA player who earned more than $40 million could respond to the incident by casting himself as the victim instead of taking responsibility.

One X user responded, "It's racist to call out someone who made 40 mill and stole a bottle? Such a pathetic victim mentality."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Lawson also spent time alongside Chauncey Billups in Denver. Billups is currently under federal scrutiny amid allegations involving illegal high-stakes poker games.

Send us your thoughts: alejandro.avila@outkick.com / Follow along on X: @alejandroaveela

During a 2019 interview following a visit to border enforcement, James Talarico, candidate for U.S. Senate in Texas, said he gauged the suitability of immigration detention facilities based on how he would treat his own family.

"I think I was struck by the conditions these folks were being held in," Talarico said.

"When I first walked in, I looked at one of the security monitors and saw these things strewn around the floor, and I realized they were human beings being held in these tiny rooms. The standard I use is: would I allow my child, my parent, my grandparent to be held in one of these facilities? And the answer, after my visit, was a resounding no," Talarico said.

His resurfaced comments continue to raise questions about his views on border policy as he looks to flip a Republican-held Senate seat in Texas.

PROGRESSIVE TALARICO KNIFES BIDEN'S OPEN BORDER, TRIES MODERATING STANCE ON KEY ISSUES IN TEXAS SENATE RACE

During his campaign, Talarico has drawn scrutiny for walking a tightrope between traditionally Democratic criticisms on President Donald Trump’s border enforcement measures and appearing too soft on border policy.

Like progressives in the party, Talarico has called on lawmakers to "tear down" Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has characterized voter ID requirements as a method to rig elections and, in the past, even criticized President Barack Obama’s record on immigration.

In one 2019 remark, Talarico famously called Obama the "deporter-in-chief."

His past comments have left some observers believing his record makes the case for him.

"There is a very concerning pattern with James Talarico siding with pedophiles, criminal illegal aliens and cartels while slandering the brave men and women of law enforcement who keep Texans safe," Zach Kraft, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee (RNC), said in a statement, referring to detentions highlighted by the Department of Homeland Security.

ICE ARRESTS 15 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WITH CONVICTIONS INCLUDING HOMICIDE, RAPE AND CHILD SEX CRIMES OVER WEEKEND

"Talarico is a true radical and fully committed to defunding the police, knocking down President Trump's border wall and welcoming millions of illegal aliens into America," Kraft added.

At the same time, Talarico has voiced concern about the government’s effective use of resources on the border and whether its investments are being reflected in its detention operations.

He raised the issue in the 2019 interview.

"How are we spending close to a billion dollars every year on border security when these border patrol agents told us firsthand they didn’t have the resources, basic logistical items that would help the situation better for them and for the people being held?" Talarico said.

Talarico argued that poor standards don’t speak to individual facility needs but rather reflect broader problems with immigration enforcement.

"This is not a matter of some bad apples at a Border Patrol station. This is a systemic problem that even the Border Patrol agents identified as something morally wrong and something that needed to be solved," Talarico said in an interview.

"I believe this is a statewide problem; this is a stain on all of our reputations. It violates a lot of the values we have as Texans."

Texas spent roughly $800 million on border security in 2019, according to the state’s legislative budget board.

TALARICO MAKES STUNNING CLAIM ABOUT WHY HE THINKS TEXAS ELECTIONS AREN'T 'FREE AND FAIR'

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

When pressed for more details about Talarico’s ideal detainment conditions a reality, his campaign pointed to his border security plan he recently unveiled and noted that he has also raised concerns about border security ineffectiveness under the Biden administration.

"James supports stronger border security and safe, secure, and humane detention facilities. He’s the only candidate in this race to unveil a border security agenda endorsed by Republicans and Democrats that will add more border patrol agents and improve technology at the border to better detect threats. For too long, both parties have failed our border communities by grandstanding on the issue instead of finding real solutions. James is running for Senate to keep our country safe by deporting criminals instead of locking up moms, babies and small business owners who have been contributing to our economy for decades," a campaign spokesperson said.

Having secured the Democratic nomination, Talarico will face Republican nominee Ken Paxton in the Nov. 3 general election.

Carly Pearce says she doesn't want children and calls her first marriage a 'start-up marriage'

The country singer told fans she wants to remarry but said having kids was never her dream

Country star Carly Pearce has revealed that kids are off the table.

Earlier this week, Pearce responded to a fan on TikTok who asked her if she was still deciding on children and if she would ever remarry. Pearce was married to singer Michael Ray for a year before they divorced in 2020.

"Maybe some of you out here are like me. I always feel bad saying that I actually don't want children. I love children, I love my friends' children, I'm a great aunt. But, it was never my dream," the 36-year-old said.

Pearce went on to explain that her dream was always to pursue country music and live on the road.

COUNTRY SINGER RAELYNN FILES FOR DIVORCE FROM ARMY VETERAN HUSBAND AFTER DECADE-LONG MARRIAGE

"I think we should normalize people that truly know they don't wanna have kids. I don't think it should be for everyone just because society tells us to," Pearce stated. "So, I don't want children and I'm totally okay with that."

Pearce addressed the fan's second question about marriage and said she "absolutely" wants to get married again. The "truck on fire" singer said that she would never let her past sway her away from marriage.

"So what I was divorced. It was my start-up marriage and now I get to have the real one," Pearce ended her video.

Fans were supportive of Pearce's decision in the comment section of her TikTok.

LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? Another added, "You should not feel bad!"

"It is totally ok that is not your dream! Be you!" another user wrote. "You should never feel bad. Women are validated so much by how they serve others as a wife, mother, etc. than just the person they are," another TikTok user commented.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER

Pearce and Ray began dating in 2018 after Pearce made the first move by messaging him on social media. Their whirlwind romance quickly progressed, with the couple getting engaged in December 2018 and marrying in a Nashville-area ceremony in October 2019. Less than a year later, however, Pearce filed for divorce in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences, and the divorce was finalized that September.

Since her divorce, Pearce has had a few relationships, including her current relationship with entrepreneur Jordan Karcher, founder of Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. The couple went Instagram official in July 2025.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

NASCAR driver Alex Bowman announces plan to retire from full-time competition after 2027

The No. 48 Chevrolet driver has battled concussions, a broken vertebra from a sprint car crash and vertigo in recent years

Alex Bowman's NASCAR Cup Series future had been uncertain, but that's no longer the case.

The driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports has signed a one-year extension to stay with the team in 2027.

However, after that, the 33-year-old will retire from racing full-time.

CARDINALS TIGHT END TRAVIS VOKOLEK RETIRES AT AGE 28 AFTER SUFFERING SEVERE NECK INJURY DURING 2025 SEASON

"I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what’s next, and this feels like the right decision at the right time," Bowman said in a statement. "The sport asks a lot of you, and I’ve learned it’s important to listen to your body and make the right choices for yourself. To say I’m incredibly grateful to Mr. Hendrick, our partners at Ally and Chevrolet, and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports would be an understatement. They believed in me and gave me the biggest opportunity of my life.

"My focus now is on making the most of my time on the racetrack and competing for wins. We still have a lot to accomplish, and I want to close my career on a high note for our team and our fans. To have the chance to do that with this organization and these people is really special."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

Bowman has battled injuries the last few years. Concussion-like symptoms ruled him out of five races during the 2022 season, while a broken vertebra sustained in a sprint car crash forced him to miss three races the following season. He also missed four races this season while dealing with vertigo.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The Tucson native has eight career wins, four of which came in the 2021 season.

This season has been a tough one for the No. 48. He's 29th in the standings with an average finishing position of 21.765, which would be his worst since the 2015 season, before he joined Hendrick Motorsports.

Secret Service agent on JD Vance's detail investigated for allegedly leaking operational security info

Probe follows reports of frustration among agents over last-minute family travel and off-the-record trips

A U.S. Secret Service (USSS) agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s security detail is being investigated over allegations of leaking sensitive information.

"A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security," Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement to Fox News.

The agency would not comment on the specifics of the case, Guglielmi said, but noted that "any conduct that potentially threatens the safety of a protectee will not be tolerated."

TRUMP SAYS HE'S IRAN'S 'NO. 1' TARGET AS RENEWED CONFLICT RAISES ASSASSINATION FEARS

The probe came a week after an MS Now report detailed alleged frustrations within Vance's security detail over last-minute personal and family travel requests.

One day after the story was published, MS Now reported Vance's office canceled a helicopter flight scheduled for his son’s golf lesson. The Trump administration said the proposed use of Marine Two — the call sign for the helicopter carrying the vice president — was for operational reasons.

"Compared to a motorcade, it drastically decreased the burden on local law enforcement and eliminated the inconvenience of road closures and disruptions to motorists along the long driving route," the administration wrote in a statement to Fox News.

USHA VANCE MOCKS NEW YORK TIMES FOR DRAWING 'POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE' FROM HER PREGNANCY FASHION

The MS Now report noted that current and former Secret Service agents pointed out that prior vice presidents "eschewed using such expensive government perks for the convenience of their children’s schedule."

Agents said the "off-the-record" (OTR) trips sometimes force them to cancel personal plans and require them to construct security plans in a hurry.

"The detail is tired of them not giving notice on things and making everything an OTR," a person familiar with the detail’s frustration told the news outlet. "[Vance] thinks he can still move around like a U.S. senator."

A Vance spokesperson told Fox News the family is grateful to the Secret Service.

IRAN-BACKED PROXIES SABOTAGING LEBANON PEACE AS JD VANCE LEADS US DELEGATION TO SWITZERLAND, HERZOG SAYS

"While protecting a vice president with a large policy portfolio and a young and growing family presents a unique challenge, agents of the Secret Service do so with excellence every day," the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, USSS Deputy Director Matthew Quinn said that all special agents understand the commitment required to serve on a protective detail.

"Our agents work tirelessly to ensure protectees’ safety and security, while also preserving normalcy to the extent possible," Quinn told Fox News. "We are committed to supporting our personnel, which requires around-the-clock dedication and discipline. This is a job that requires absolute dedication and discipline. There is no room for compromise."

The frustration among agents reportedly led some to create custom coins and stickers mocking the frequency of Vance's last-minute travel, referencing the vice president's Secret Service code name, "Bobcat."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Some coins reportedly read, "Bobcat OTR Survivors Club."

The Trump administration acknowledged that last-minute trips can arise unexpectedly.

"Most past presidents and vice presidents have not had young children, and therefore the detail has not been presented with this nature of protective mandate," the administration told Fox News.

"The Vice President is also a very active and involved Vice President, more so than recent officeholders," the statement continued. "His unprecedented diplomatic role, for example, while critically important, has added new demands for a detail used to operating with lead times that are impossible in high-stakes diplomacy."

USA Today columnist who attacked Caitlin Clark goes after Heritage Foundation 'coming for' Title IX

Nancy Armour claimed the conservative think tank seeks to roll back women's sports

USA Today columnist Nancy Armour accused the Heritage Foundation of "coming for" Title IX on Thursday, shortly after facing backlash for her controversial Caitlin Clark column.

Armour cited the conservative think tank report titled "Title IX’s Failed Experiment: Why Accommodating Sex Differences Beats Engineered Parity," released earlier this month, which criticized the modern application of the 1972 federal civil rights law barring sex-based discrimination in education activities or programs that receive federal funding.

The report's author, Scott Yenor, senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation's American Citizenship Initiative, wrote that stricter interpretations of the law have enforced rigid equality in school sports to the detriment of both male and female student athletes.

MEGAN RAPINOE SAYS EFFORTS TO BAR TRANS ATHLETES FROM WOMEN'S SPORTS ARE 'ATTACK ON WOMEN IN SOCIETY'

"Title IX evolved from a seemingly modest anti-discrimination statute into a powerful engine of feminist social engineering, complete with proportionality mandates," the Heritage Foundation report read. "The result has been two systemic distortions: a prejudice in favor of a male-normed competitive model for women’s sports and a prejudice against men’s non-revenue programs."

Armour claimed that this signaled the organization is seeking to remove protections for female sports and roll back women's rights.

"Our bodies, our self-confidence, our independence — they’re not going to stop until women have the same rights and opportunities they did before the 1970s. Which were almost none," Armour wrote.

ACTIVISTS UNLEASH A 'NEXT WAVE' BALLOT STRATEGY FOR WOMEN'S SPORTS INSIDE DEEP BLUE STATES

The USA Today columnist dismissed the idea that the Heritage Foundation’s efforts "will go nowhere" despite the law's widespread support.

"Project 2025 has done too much damage already not to take the threat to Title IX seriously. The Heritage Foundation wants a United States that reflects their White, Judeo-Christian and heteronormative 'values,' and is steadfastly working to eliminate anything that deviates from them," Armour wrote.

She added, "It’s also about enforcing a specific definition of femininity. It started with banning transgender women from sports. Now that that’s been accomplished, the Heritage Foundation and their ilk are going to try and make the rest of us women conform."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Heritage Foundation for comment.

Though Armour suggested that the Heritage Foundation is seeking to eliminate Title IX, Yenor instead argued in favor of reforms to the law that focused less on proportionality in male-dominated sports and more on opportunities for female-centric athletics such as cheerleading, gymnastics and volleyball.

NBC ANCHOR FORCED TO EXPLAIN USE OF TERM 'BIOLOGICAL MALE' DURING COVERAGE OF SUPREME COURT RULING

"Equality under Title IX does not require identical outcomes or the erasure of sex differences. It requires opportunity rooted in human nature that will reveal genuine differences between the sexes. Recovering an approach that accommodates the partly natural, partly cultural differences between the sexes can sustain vibrant women’s sports, protect and perhaps expand male opportunities, and contribute to a healthier, more humane social order," Yenor wrote.

Armour's latest column came after she received backlash for accusing Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark of putting Black and queer WNBA players "in danger" by flopping and berating court officials.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"It shouldn’t need reminding this country has an awful history of Black people being harmed, even killed, in the name of 'defending' white women. The WNBA’s All-Star Game this weekend is in Chicago, Emmett Till’s hometown, and a local art gallery is currently hosting an exhibit imagining his life if he hadn’t been lynched. While it’s incumbent on the WNBA to do more to protect its players, there also should be an expectation on Clark to recognize the wider consequences of her actions," Armour wrote.

Armour later apologized for her "inartful comparison" of Clark's actions to the murder of Emmett Till and has updated the column.

Accused killer's alleged disguises unravel as sheriff releases new clues in month-long manhunt

Isabelle Johnson is wanted in the murder of Jason Coulthart, whose remains were found in a shallow grave in Freeport, Florida

A Florida sheriff's office has revealed new identifying marks on a fugitive murder suspect accused in the death of a man found buried in a shallow grave, warning that she may have changed her hair and appearance as a monthlong manhunt continues.

Isabelle Johnson, 38, is wanted in connection with the murder of Jason Coulthart, 43, whose remains were discovered June 25 on a property in Freeport, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.

"One month of searching for Isabelle Johnson, and our search has not slowed," the agency wrote in a new appeal for tips.

Investigators now believe Johnson has several distinctive tattoos that could help members of the public recognize her despite any attempts to disguise herself.

FLORIDA WOMAN CHARGED WITH MURDER EVADING POLICE AFTER BODY FOUND IN SHALLOW GRAVE: SHERIFF

She is believed to have a rose or flower tattoo on her left hand, beginning below the thumb and extending toward the index finger, according to the sheriff's office. She also appears to have an unidentified tattoo on her right ankle and a large scorpion tattoo extending from her left buttock down her left thigh.

Authorities believe Johnson may have dyed and cut her hair in an effort to alter her appearance.

FLORIDA WOMAN ON THE RUN AND WANTED FOR MURDER RELIED ON NETWORK OF ALLEGED ACCOMPLICES TO EVADE CAPTURE: COPS

The sheriff's office once again invoked the aliases Johnson is believed to use.

"Today, we're releasing additional identifying features belonging to Isabelle, or Jessica, or Harley, or whatever name she's going by today," the agency wrote.

Johnson has previously been linked to several aliases, including Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, Jessica Elaine Thrash, Jessica Dowdy and possibly "Denise."

'AMERICA'S MOST WANTED' FUGITIVE CAPTURED ON SAILBOAT OFF NJ COAST AFTER 20 YEARS ON THE RUN

Authorities say she has ties to Walton and Okaloosa counties in Florida, parts of Georgia and lower Alabama.

Investigators have also warned that she may manipulate people into providing transportation, money or shelter by using stories involving domestic violence or other hardships.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office has described Johnson as "cunning" and a "master manipulator," while urging anyone who may be helping her to stop.

"Every lead is pursued. Every tip is investigated. Every day brings us one step closer," the agency wrote. "Someone knows where she is."

Coulthart was reported missing May 24 after he was last seen leaving the College Condominiums on East College Boulevard in Niceville.

During the missing-person investigation, detectives developed information that led authorities to a property off Sunset Lane in Freeport. Investigators obtained a search warrant and found Coulthart's body buried in a shallow grave that evening, according to the sheriff's office.

The District 1 Medical Examiner's Office later identified the remains through DNA testing.

Five people have since been arrested in connection with the case. Michael Ray White, Kathleen Morris, Bobbi Wagstaff, Martin Leaverton and Sandra Leaverton have been charged with accessory to a capital felony after the fact.

Authorities previously alleged that White knowingly helped Johnson evade law enforcement, while Morris admitted providing Johnson with transportation and supplies and misleading investigators about whether she had been at her home, according to local reporting.

Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson has warned that anyone still helping Johnson hide could also face charges.

"If you give her a place to stay, help her hide, or lie for her, you will face consequences," Adkinson said previously. "This is a homicide case. We will not allow anyone to get in the way of this investigation."

A combined reward of up to $16,000 remains available for information leading to Johnson's arrest.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Walton County Sheriff's Office seeking any additional updates on the investigation.

The sheriff's office ended its latest appeal with a warning aimed at Johnson.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"She can keep running. We won't stop looking," the agency wrote. "We know who will get tired first."

Fox News Digital's Louis Casiano contributed to this report.

AP post on USAID cuts backfires as critics question taxpayer-funded Nepal transgender jobs

'Thank you for reminding us why defunding USAID was long overdue,' said Rep. Brandon Gill

An Associated Press social media post about transgender aid workers in Nepal turning to sex work after losing their jobs due to U.S. foreign aid cuts sparked a wave of conservative backlash, with critics arguing the video made the case for defunding USAID rather than saving it.

The AP post said that in Nepal, where "a conservative culture leaves openly transgender people with few legal job options," around 100 LGBTQ aid workers left jobless by U.S. funding cuts had turned to sex work to survive. An accompanying video focused on Rubi Lama, a former HIV outreach worker who said USAID-funded programs had provided free condoms, lubricant and HIV-prevention medication before the cuts.

"When USAID funding was there, condoms were free, lubricant was also distributed … for free," Lama said in the video, adding that HIV treatments, including PrEP, were also available without cost. "But, now it is gone."

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TOUTS MORE THAN $1B IN UN BUDGET CUTS AS REFORM PUSH GAINS MOMENTUM

The framing quickly drew criticism from conservatives who said the story raised the opposite question: why American taxpayers were funding those programs in the first place.

Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, was among the conservatives who argued the AP report made the opposite point from the one intended.

"Our tax dollars no longer fund employment for transgender Nepalese sex workers," Gill wrote on X. "Thank you for reminding us why defunding USAID was long overdue."

"Wow very grateful that my tax dollars are no longer funding a bunch of random trannies in Asia," mocked Daily Wire host Matt Walsh "Is that the point you were trying to make or did you expect us to be somehow sad about this?"

SOCIALIST-BACKED MICHIGAN SENATE HOPEFUL CALLS AMERICAN POLITICS A 'DISEASE' AFTER PROFESSING LOVE FOR US

The backlash comes after President Donald Trump, immediately upon returning to office, ordered a 90-day pause on new foreign development assistance obligations and disbursements while his administration reviewed whether programs aligned with his foreign policy.

USAID later told partners to pause new funding obligations and issue stop-work orders or suspensions for existing awards, while critics have said the review led to major disruptions, staff reductions and the cancellation of critical foreign-assistance awards.

But Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway argued the AP post exposed misplaced priorities, particularly among the media, saying the outlet presented U.S. tax dollars flowing to a "trans Nepalese job protection program" as though it was a good use of public money.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"The AP announces that your hard-earned tax dollars were flowing to a trans Nepalese job protection program as if that was an even remotely good use of your money," Hemingway wrote in a post on X. "AP is sick Democrat propaganda."

"How dare Elon cut USAID funds to the Nepalese trans sex worker community," quipped Republican activist Jack Posobiec.

Oprah Winfrey sparks fresh backlash after she revisits Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bombshell interview

Critics on social media accused Winfrey of failing 'to challenge inconsistencies' during the 2021 sit-down

Oprah Winfrey is facing a new wave of backlash over an old royal bombshell.

After revisiting her 2021 interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Winfrey's explanation of her "silent or silenced" question has sparked renewed debate online.

The media mogul's reflection on one of the most talked-about moments from the explosive sit-down has reignited debate over the interview that shook the monarchy, divided viewers and put Harry and Meghan's claims about royal life under a global microscope.

MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY'S INTERVIEW WITH OPRAH WINFREY: 6 BIGGEST BOMBSHELLS

During a recent Vanity Fair interview, Winfrey looked back on the viral exchange with Meghan, explaining why she challenged the Duchess of Sussex after she said she had been "silent" during her time as a working royal.

"I wanted to be clear because was she silenced? Were people telling her not to talk?... I said it for clarification because I didn't want later to hear, 'Well, no, it wasn't that. It really was that I was silenced. They wouldn't let me talk.' So it was all for clarification."

Meghan told Winfrey at the time, "I've always valued independence" and "I've always been outspoken, especially about women's rights."

"I mean, that's the sad irony of the last four years is I've advocated for so long for women to use their voice. And then, I was silent."

Winfrey responded with the question that instantly went viral.

"Were you silent or were you silenced?"

"The latter," Meghan replied.

Winfrey also revealed that Harry and Meghan did not know what questions she planned to ask before the interview.

"They didn't know obviously anything that I was going to ask them, but I had said to them ahead of time, 'I'm going to try to cover everything.'"

"This interview took three and a half hours... I was just trying to carefully go through everything that had come up in the past."

The 2021 CBS special became one of the biggest celebrity interviews of the decade after Harry and Meghan opened up about their decision to step away from royal duties, allegations of a lack of support from the royal family, Meghan's mental health struggles, and claims about conversations surrounding their son Archie's royal status and security.

The couple's comments sparked worldwide debate, including Meghan's claim that there were "concerns and conversations" about "how dark his skin might be when he's born."

Harry also described feeling trapped within the royal institution.

"I need to do this for my family. This is not a surprise to anybody," he said.

QUEEN ELIZABETH CALLS FOR UNITY AHEAD OF MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY INTERVIEW IN COMMONWEALTH DAY SPEECH

"It's really sad that it's got to this point, but I've got to do something for my own mental health, for my wife's, and for Archie's as well, because I could see where this was headed."

Winfrey's latest comments quickly triggered a wave of reactions online.

"Oprah backpedaling?" one X user wrote.

Another critic commented, "Oh, Oprah… You failed to challenge obvious inconsistencies… and handed Harry and Meghan a worldwide stage to tell 'their story' without proper scrutiny or questioning. Now you want 'clarification?' That ship sailed! Spare me…"

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER
A third added, "Five years later, Oprah is still trying to distance herself from the dastardly duo. Looks like scrubbing the interview from the internet was not enough. How can an industry giant like Oprah allow herself to be used by confirmed pathological liars?"

But supporters pushed back against the criticism.

"In that royal climate she was silenced she didn't have a voice. The royals can't express their own opinions, everyone knows that," one Instagram user wrote.

"I remember every one of these moments. She is a TRUE icon. A pioneer. I love Oprah," a YouTube commenter added.

"Great look back moments... I remember them all," another fan wrote.

Years later, the question continues to fuel debate surrounding Harry and Meghan's departure from royal life.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Minnesota Twins somehow have four players scheduled to get married on the exact same offseason day

The bizarre scheduling coincidence means teammates may have an automatic out for three of the four weddings

One of the realities of being a professional baseball player is that many major life events have to wait until the offseason, including weddings.

But the Minnesota Twins found themselves in a strange situation: Four players are all getting married this offseason.

On the same day.

COURTHOUSE WEDDINGS ARE BOOMING AS MANY COUPLES SKIP PRICEY TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES

How? Just how?

I mean, let's say the offseason runs from October/November to mid-February. That's a fairly large window to choose a day to tie the knot, and yet four couples on the same team just happened to pick the same one.

The Twins clubhouse needs to go in on some Powerball tickets together.

There might be some tough choices to make for wedding guests, and I imagine some brides-to-be were less than jazzed when they learned that their wedding wasn't going to be the only one that day.

But, if you're a would-be wedding guest, this is great.

Now, who knows if every person on the team is invited to all four weddings, but it's reasonable to assume that some will be.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

But every time someone came into the clubhouse after getting engaged, there had to be some guys sitting there going, "Dammit, there goes another weekend."

Those are valuable. Especially during college football season.

So, when they found out about this bizarre scheduling quirk, they probably realized they had an automatic out for three of those weddings because — at least at the time of writing; technology moves fast these days — it isn't possible to be in multiple places at once.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

That means only one weekend in the fall is occupied by a wedding. That's awesome.

Now all you need to do is get them a stand mixer or some corn-holders or whatever, and your duties as a wedding guest are complete.

Mamdani slow to respond to suspected antisemitic stabbing as Hochul, other NY officials condemn attack

Two men were stabbed on the Upper West Side as Gov. Kathy Hochul and other officials condemned the attack

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani remained silent for serveal hours on what officials described as an antisemitic stabbing in New York City on Thursday afternoon, choosing to instead post about his millionaire housing tax initiative — even as the attack drew attention from other state officials.

"I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled "Allahu Akbar" during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition," Mamdani wrote in a statement.

"The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response."

The delayed response from Mamdani played into the fears of some observers that his critical stances towards Israel, views shared by many progressives, are feeding into hesitations about supporting Jewish communities in the U.S.

LIBERAL MS NOW WRITER CALLS MAMDANI PRIMARY SWEEP A 'GENUINELY SCARY NIGHT FOR NEW YORK CITY JEWS'

Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, another member of the New York City Council, more pointedly laid blame with Mamdani.

"According to credible reports I received, the attacker was yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ during his attempted murder. I pray for the speedy recovery of the victims. [Mamdani,] you got blood on your hands," she wrote.

Authorities reported that a 57-year-old man was reportedly attacked near West 84th Street and Central Park West just after 1:30 p.m. local time. He was found conscious and alert with a stab wound to his back. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators later found another 50-year-old man nearby with a stab wound to his torso. He was also conscious and alert and was taken to a nearby hospital.

City officials described the violence as an "antisemitic stabbing," though police have not yet identified a motive or said whether the attacks are being investigated as a hate crime.

Raul Morales, the suspect, is in custody, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) told Fox News Digital.

NYC REPUBLICAN LAWMAKER SLAMS MAMDANI ANTISEMITISM OFFICE AS A ‘BLACK HOLE’ LACKING PUBLIC-FACING RESOURCES

Almost immediately, the incident drew alarm and condemnation from observers, expressing dismay at another instance of violence against the Jewish community in New York City.

"Disgusted by what appears to be another senseless attack on New Yorkers simply because they’re Jewish," New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a post to X.

"While we await additional details to be confirmed, we know that what is happening in our city is abhorrent. The fear in the Jewish community is real. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, regardless of their faith or identity."

"While we await additional details to be confirmed, we know that what is happening in our city is abhorrent. The fear in the Jewish community is real. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, regardless of their faith or identity," Julie Menin, speaker of the New York City Council, wrote in a post to X

"A man yelling 'allahu akbar' stabbed a man in a kippah at 86th and Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side at 1:30 pm today, then likely stabbed someone else at 84th and Central Park West. Has apparently been caught. On the Jewish day of mourning. In Zohran Mamdani's city," another observer wrote.

Even as the incident captured attention online, Mamdani remained notably silent on the attack. Instead, he made a post on his recent housing tax plan, a strategy to dissuade wealthy New Yorkers from purchasing and keeping an outsized number of residences.

"If you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you’re back in the five boroughs — because you've got mail. Today, we sent notification letters to property owners, letting them know that our new pied-à-terre tax is coming soon," Mamdani wrote at 3:55, almost two and a half hours after the attack.

JON STEWART PRESSES MAMDANI ON WHERE HE BREAKS WITH FELLOW DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS ON PRISONS AND BORDERS

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

In the first quarter of 2026, the New York Police Department has received 146 hate crime complaints and made 71 arrests, according to police data — an uptick from 137 complaints and 51 arrests in the first quarter of 2025.

Mamdani’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether factors behind the scenes had caused a delay in response.

Michelin-starred chef facing jail after allegedly serving nearly 50,000 ants to diners

Prosecutors say restaurant served thousands of ants containing dangerous levels of heavy metals, leaving its owner facing jail time

The owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant in South Korea is facing up to a year in jail and a fine of roughly $13,510 after the eatery allegedly served ants atop its sorbets.

The proprietor of the Seoul restaurant, not identified in court documents, acknowledged serving ants, which are not among the insect species approved for human consumption under South Korea's Food Sanitation Act. The law approves 10 other insect species for human consumption — but not ants, the BBC reported.

The country's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety discovered the violation through customers' social media posts and online reviews mentioning ants, according to reports.

CYCLOSPORA OUTBREAK: IS IT STILL SAFE TO EAT AT RESTAURANTS? HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW

Grasshoppers, mealworms, silkworm pupae, locusts and two-spotted crickets are among the insects the government has approved as food, based on health and nutrition criteria.

Prosecutors allege the ants served at the restaurant contained heavy metal levels up to 55 times the maximum limit allowed for other edible insects.
