Angels third baseman brings basketball onto the diamond, turns slick double play with unconventional move

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Vaughn Grissom brought some basketball onto the diamond.

In the top of the third inning of the Angels’ 5-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday at Angel Stadium, Grissom brought the bounce pass into play.

With a runner on first base and one out, Cardinals catcher Iván Herrera hit a ground ball to Grissom at third base. The 25-year-old fielded it cleanly and went to throw to second base to begin the double play.

However, the sun was directly in second baseman Oswald Peraza’s eyes. So Grissom, in a very unconventional move, fired the ball into the dirt halfway between him and second base so Peraza could catch the ball on the bounce and avoid the sun.

Peraza fielded Grissom’s bounce pass easily, turned and fired a strike to first baseman Nolan Schanuel to complete the slick double play.

The double play was a highlight in a game filled with strong pitching and defense during the team’s win. Angels starting pitcher Walbert Ureña threw six innings of one-run ball, striking out five hitters while giving up six hits. Ureña lowered his ERA to 2.78 with the performance.

The Angels jumped on the Cardinals early, as five of their 10 hits came in the first inning. Designated hitter Jorge Soler got the scoring started with a two-run double, Grissom drove in Soler with a line drive to right field, and right fielder Jo Adell punctuated the five-run first inning with a two-run home run.

For the Angels, it was their fourth straight win, which is tied for their longest winning streak of the season. The Cardinals are trending in the other direction, as they have lost 10 of their last 14 games.

The Angels (41-61) will look to complete a three-game sweep of the Cardinals (51-49) when they play the final game of the set on Wednesday at 4:07 p.m. ET.

Republicans sound alarm over far-left group's push to transform America into 'Cuban dictatorship'

Senate Republicans are warning that a new policy push from a far-left group gaining momentum in politics would unravel the Constitution, and could leave them without a job.

As a progressive surge threatens to rewrite the core of the Democratic Party, earlier this month the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which scored early victories in primary elections across the U.S. over the last several weeks, unveiled its vision for government.

Among the three main pillars was a call to abolish the Senate in favor of an expanded House of Representatives with multiple parties in a bid to effectively eliminate the age-old, two-party system that has dominated American politics and representation for more than two centuries.

"I mean, we are important," Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., quipped to Fox News Digital. "[It’s] pretty disgusting. I mean, you know the Senate is here so we can represent all — make sure all the states are represented. So, yeah. I think the Founding Fathers were pretty smart."

While the number of members in the House of Representatives depends on the population of every state, the Senate is the great equalizer where every state, regardless of size or population, receives two senators to represent them in the upper chamber.

The progressive swell during this midterm cycle, so far, has largely been contained to the House, where DSA-backed candidates toppled longtime Democratic incumbents in New York City and Colorado last month.

But one candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for the Democratic nomination in the Michigan Senate race, has tenuous links to the DSA from events the organization has sponsored that he’s attended. They've also not formally endorsed him in his battle against Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich.

Still, he has the backing of two of the top DSA-aligned lawmakers in Congress: Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

The DSA’s program, dubbed Workers Deserve More, was officially launched last week on a call with DSA members and called to eliminate the upper chamber of Congress.

One of the group's top organizers, Michaela Branagan, contended, "Well, why do we have a Senate?"

"A lot of people are going to see that, and they’d be, like, ‘Wait a second. What’s so great about the Senate?’ I mean, I’m not sure about this, but I’m pretty sure the only popular senator is Bernie Sanders — because he ran for president as a Democratic Socialist," Branagan said on the call.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., told Fox News Digital that the DSA ought to test their vision of governance far from where anybody could see it.

"Maybe a little pilot project on an island nation where the entire world experiment is on somebody's shoulders, like, ‘ooh, I didn't get that one right,’" Tillis said. "My God. I'm pretty happy with being the exceptional nation on the planet right now. I'm into course correction, a little tuning there, trimming the sails, but not sinking the boat."

And Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, questioned "where did this group of geniuses come from in America?"

He argued that the midterm election, and the schism within the Democratic Party, was turning the battle into not being about the GOP versus Democrats, but rather "people who hate this country versus people who love this country."

Moreno, who was born in Columbia before moving to Florida with his family as a child, said that he learned there was a "very specific reason the Senate was created" after his mother made him read the Federalist Papers before obtaining his citizenship.

"I think if somebody goes through that exercise they're going to say, ‘What were these guys thinking? Like, why was the Senate created? Why is it the way it is?’ They’ll understand it," Moreno said. "They also, remember, want to abolish the electoral college."

"Basically, they just want to have a Cuban dictatorship in America," he continued. "It hasn't worked out so well for Cuba."

Rep Cory Mills under active criminal investigation by the Department of Justice, source says

Embattled Republican Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., is under active criminal investigation by the Department of Justice, Fox News has learned.

A source familiar with the matter told Fox News that the DOJ is investigating the Florida lawmaker, though the specifics of what he is being investigated for are unknown.

Mills, who serves on the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees, has separately been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee regarding allegations of campaign finance violations, sexual misconduct, and dating violence.

RESIGNATION IS THE NEW ESCAPE HATCH AS LAWMAKERS FACE EXPULSION

Mills faces allegations of domestic abuse from an incident in February 2025 and a separate case of blackmail from July that same year, where he allegedly threatened to release explicit images of a romantic partner.

Mills has denied any wrongdoing and hasn't been charged with any crimes.

The House Ethics Committee released a statement in April stating that its investigation into Mills that began in November 2025 was still ongoing. The panel noted at the time that its inquiry involves "sexual misconduct and/or dating violence."

REPUBLICAN LAWMAKER WELCOMES HOUSE ETHICS PROBE INTO SEXUAL MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM

The traditionally secretive panel did not specify a timeline for when it plans to wrap up the probe.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., also filed a motion to expel Mills in April. The resolution accused Mills of misrepresenting his military service, sexual misconduct, campaign finance violations and illicit involvement in federal contracts as a member of Congress, among other charges.

Mills was first elected in 2022 and was re-elected in 2024. He is seeking a third House term this November.

Lil Wayne is throwing his support behind one of President Donald Trump's most talked-about White House projects.

The rap icon praised Trump's plan to build a massive White House ballroom during a Monday appearance on the "Friends Keep Secrets" podcast, arguing the new venue would spare performers from being pushed outside for major events.

The event unfolded outside at Number One Observatory Circle, where the rapper said it felt like he was attending a "backyard barbecue."

House Dems hand GOP a win on trans sports as party unity cracks

Five House Democrats broke away from their party leaders on Tuesday night to vote with Republicans on a measure cracking down on transgender participation in school sports.

The House voted on a slew of amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Tuesday, an annual bill setting military and national security policy each fiscal year.

Among those that prevailed was an amendment led by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., to block students born male from participating on girls' athletic teams at schools run by the Department of War (DOW).

HOUSE NARROWLY BACKS ALLOWING TROOPS, PENTAGON WORKERS TO CARRY PERSONAL GUNS ON MILITARY BASES

The vast majority of Democrats — 203 of them — voted to allow transgender participation, save for Reps. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, Shomari Figures, D-Ala., Don Davis, D-N.C., Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas, and Terri Sewell, D-Ala.

The amendment was adopted in an overall 221 to 203 vote, with all Republicans voting in favor.

DOW-run schools serve the dependents of active duty military personnel and civilian department employees throughout the world and parts of the United States.

All four senior leaders in the House Democratic Caucus, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., voted against the amendment.

Tuesday night's vote shows how the issue of transgender participation in school sports — and topics surrounding transgender youth overall — is still fueling division within the Democratic Party.

"Men are not women. Men will never become women. Yet male athletes are stealing medals, invading locker rooms and putting girls in the hospital, all in the name of gender ideology. Our NDAA amendment would end this nonsense," Mace said of her amendment on Tuesday.

Study finds special tomato drink may reduce inflammation in adults with obesity

Tomatoes and soy have long been praised for their health benefits. Now, a small new study suggests that combining compounds from both into a specially formulated beverage may help reduce inflammation in adults with obesity.

Researchers at Ohio State University found that adults who drank two 6-ounce servings of a tomato-soy beverage each day for four weeks experienced significant reductions in several markers of systemic inflammation, according to a study published in the journal Molecular Nutrition & Food Research.

The beverage wasn't ordinary tomato juice. It was made with tomatoes bred to contain high levels of lycopene — a powerful antioxidant that gives tomatoes their red color — and fortified with soy isoflavones, naturally occurring plant compounds found in soybeans.

Researchers compared the fortified drink with a standard tomato juice and found only the specialized beverage significantly lowered three proteins linked to chronic inflammation.

"This study adds to a growing body of research suggesting that bioactive compounds in foods may help influence inflammation, but it's important to keep the findings in perspective," Florida-based registered dietitian Jamie Lee McIntyre, who was not involved in the study, told Fox News Digital.

"Researchers tested a specially formulated tomato-soy juice that contained concentrated amounts of lycopene and soy isoflavones — not a beverage consumers can easily recreate at home. While the results are promising, larger studies are needed before we can make broad dietary recommendations."

The study included just 12 adults with obesity over four weeks, making it too small to draw broad conclusions about long-term health effects, McIntyre said.

"That's enough to generate an interesting hypothesis but not enough to conclude that this beverage will reduce inflammation or improve health outcomes for the general population," she said.

Instead of looking for a single "anti-inflammatory" food, people should focus on an overall healthy eating pattern, McIntyre said.

Clarence Thomas' constitutional argument against federal gun law gets first major court test

A convicted heroin trafficker's appeal could upend one of the federal government's most-used gun laws after a federal appeals court agreed to reconsider its constitutional foundation, weeks after Justice Clarence Thomas urged lower courts to take a fresh look at whether Congress had the authority to enact it.

The full Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals voted Monday to rehear United States v. Squire, a case that could determine whether Congress exceeded its constitutional authority when it enacted the federal law making it a crime for convicted felons to possess firearms.

The case stems from an appeal by convicted felon Curtis Squire, who was charged after police found a handgun in his New Orleans home while executing a search warrant. While his appeal began as a Second Amendment challenge, the case has evolved into a broader question: whether Congress had the constitutional authority under the Commerce Clause to criminalize firearm possession by convicted felons at all.

SUPREME COURT UNANIMOUSLY LIMITS USE OF GUN LAW USED TO PROSECUTE HUNTER BIDEN

The appeals court's decision marks a significant shift in the case and the first major appellate response to Thomas' recent concurrence in United States v. Hemani, in which he urged courts to reconsider the constitutional foundation of federal law.

For decades, courts have upheld the law because Congress has the power to regulate interstate commerce, even if the only connection is that the gun crossed state lines before the defendant possessed it.

But Thomas argued that goes too far, writing in Hemani that the Commerce Clause authorizes Congress only "to regulate the buying and selling of goods and services trafficked across state lines," not "activities wholly separated from business, such as gun possession."

He also rejected the long-standing theory that Congress may regulate firearm possession simply because the firearm once moved in interstate commerce.

"Congress cannot regulate the possession of every thing that ever traveled across state lines," Thomas wrote, warning that such an interpretation risks converting Congress' limited commerce authority into "a general police power of the sort retained by the States."

He concluded that the issue "merits a closer look in an appropriate case."

"The Court, and lower courts, should revisit the constitutionality of §922(g)," Thomas wrote.

The Fifth Circuit's decision to rehear Squire suggests at least some judges agree that question warrants fresh consideration, though the move sharply divided the court.

Judge Stephen Higginson, who dissented, warned the case has evolved from a narrow Second Amendment dispute into a much broader challenge to Congress' power under the Commerce Clause, one that could have far-reaching consequences for federal law.

He said striking down Section 922(g) would be "a significant departure from existing, settled, and binding Commerce Clause jurisprudence" and could "mark the start of a new, severely contracted Commerce Clause era."

"Can the federal government no longer criminalize possession of child pornography? Of explosive materials? Of biological weapons?" Higginson asked. "Past the Title 18 level, do we lose regulations on financial transactions? On intellectual property? On endangered species?"

"All told, this case hazards untold consequences for federal law," he concluded.

Eric Wessan echoed Higginson, saying the case now presents fundamental questions that extend beyond the Second Amendment.

"The case began as a Second Amendment as-applied challenge but now has been reframed to raise core questions about federal power," Wessan told Fox News Digital. "A ruling could significantly reshape Second Amendment jurisprudence, longstanding Commerce Clause precedent, and the scope of federal criminal law."

"If the Fifth Circuit finds that the law exceeds Congress's authority, it could potentially affect millions of Americans, interstate regulation, and the balance between federal authority and constitutional limits," Wessan said.

Squire was indicted after police found a handgun inside his New Orleans home while executing a search warrant during a shooting investigation. Although the firearm was never tied to the shooting and related state charges were dropped, federal prosecutors charged him under the statute because of his extensive criminal history, which included convictions for drug trafficking, firearm offenses, burglary, obstruction of justice, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Before pleading guilty, Squire argued the statute violated the Second Amendment as applied to him under the Supreme Court's decisions in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen and United States v. Rahimi. He contended historical tradition protected his right to possess a firearm inside his home.

A three-judge Fifth Circuit panel rejected that argument in June, before Thomas' concurrence in Hemani, holding that Congress may constitutionally prohibit individuals convicted of dangerous crimes, including drug trafficking, from possessing firearms in their homes. The panel emphasized that its ruling was narrow and did not decide whether people convicted of non-dangerous offenses could be permanently disarmed.

Reporter's Notebook: House's final sprint puts SAVE America Act and Iran funding in play

The late Sen. John Warner, R-Va., said to me once that "we don’t do a lot in Congress. But when we do it, we do it all at once."

That is kind of where we find the House of Representatives today.

Today is the penultimate day in the House before the August recess. In fact, the House may not be here much at all until after the election.

So that’s why the House is trying to cram EVERYTHING into today.

HOUSE GOP VOTES TO PUNT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN BATTLE TO AFTER NOVEMBER MIDTERMS

Let’s start with what the House approved late last night. It approved a stopgap spending bill, renewing all funding at current levels to avoid a fall shutdown in October. The bill would run through Dec. 4.

Fiscal conservatives liked the bill because it "kind of" saves money by simply renewing the current spending. By nature, these temporary bills do just that. They don’t add in new spending. So – in a way – that kind of holds the fiscal bottom line.

But looming over everything is the touchstone of the GOP’s agenda. That’s the SAVE America Act. The House today plans to advance a budget framework and prospectively include the SAVE America Act later on. The Senate must also adopt the same framework so it can use the special budget reconciliation process – which is immune from filibusters. But the House and Senate can’t get to the meat and potatoes of the bill without adopting the framework. That’s why today is so important.

What’s in "Reconciliation 3.0?" House Republicans will likely dump the SAVE America Act into the actual bill. They will also load up the bill with tens of billions to cover the war in Iran and restock the Pentagon with munitions. Money for agriculture programs will be in there, too.

SENATE PLOTS PERMANENT END TO GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNS WITH BIPARTISAN PUSH

But here’s the rub. House and Senate Republicans aren’t on the same page. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., says his body will likely consider the House-approved government funding plan. But that needs 60 votes and is subject to a filibuster. Most Democrats will reject the House’s interim spending plan since they weren’t involved in drafting it.

But that’s where Reconciliation 3.0 comes in.

"We will hold that, subject to obviously, being able to move a continuing resolution to fund the government. It's a possibility, that if necessary, we could pull that budget resolution passed by the House and use it to fund government," said Thune when pressed by yours truly yesterday.

In other words, the Senate won’t take up the House’s Reconciliation 3.0 plan any time soon. Many Senate Republicans have been cool to another reconciliation plan from the get-go. But Thune knows Senate Democrats will balk at the House’s stopgap spending bill. So he may use the reconciliation package to bypass Democrats and fund the government this fall.

Remember that reconciliation is NOT subject to a filibuster. Thus, 60 votes are unnecessary.

TRUMP INTERVENES AS HOUSE GOP REVOLT PUTS SAVE AMERICA ACT AT CENTER OF SPENDING SHOWDOWN

However, this is something of a negotiating tactic by Thune. He knows Democrats don’t want Republicans to pass their own spending plan via budget reconciliation. He also believes it’s a bad precedent to resort to reconciliation to pass appropriations bills to keep the government open. So, he will hold the ball for now.

This means that money to plus-up depleted programs and pay for the war in Iran is stalled for months. Maybe until at least December. That could be a problem at the Pentagon if the conflict drifts on.

Finally, the House plans to vote on a separate bill today to ban its members from trading stocks. Congress passed – and President Obama signed into law – the STOCK Act 14 years ago. That law prohibits lawmakers and aides from using "inside information" collected on the job to play the market.

However, today’s bill goes a step further. It outright prohibits House members from trading stocks.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., opposes this version of the bill. That’s because he wants a stock ban to apply across all of government. But that’s not what the House is poised to tackle today.

The vendor that Democratic New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill blamed for a "software error" leading to illegal voting in the Garden State denies wrongdoing and is instead pointing its finger back at the state.

IDEMIA is a French multinational company that provides identity-related security services. Sherrill appeared to divert any government blame for 6,600 noncitizens being added to the voter roll onto the software company used by the state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The company said, ultimately, that the voter registration buck stops with the state.

"The voter registration information is transmitted to the New Jersey Department of State, Division of Elections, which is ultimately responsible for verifying eligibility to vote," IDEMIA said. "Information submitted by IDEMIA must still be validated and adjudicated by the Division of Elections."

IDEMIA said that for more than 40 years the software company has worked with the New Jersey DMV Commission to "support the process through which eligible individuals may indicate their interest in registering to vote when applying for or renewing a driver's license or state-issued identification card."

"IDEMIA's role is to transmit information through the motor vehicle system," it added in a statement.

But the actual process for getting on the voter rolls in New Jersey is up to the state, IDEMIA insists.

The state and the company will no longer be working together after the scandal.

Sherrill announced Tuesday that a "serious software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office."

Sherrill also said that about 400 noncitizens registered to vote in this manner actually cast ballots.

The news caused a major firestorm, as Democrats for years have insisted that it is impossible for noncitizens to vote, and have sharply rebuked Republicans pushing for stricter voter ID laws and for suggesting that election security is a cause for concern.

"These individuals answered 'no' when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers' licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway," according to Sherrill.

She stressed three times in the same statement that while the "error" occurred under the previous administration, headed by Democrat Phil Murphy, she ordered her administration's attorney to look into the matter and remove the illegally-registered voters from the rolls.

"Our preliminary analysis shows fewer than 400 individuals who were newly registered for the first time because of the error voted," she said. "They were registered as Democrats, Republicans and Unaffiliated voters and were scattered across the state."

"I am appalled by the reckless failures that allowed this to happen and the lack of transparency shown by those in charge at the time," she said, emphasizing for the third time that the improper voting didn't happen on her watch.

Sherrill and the Democratic Party were torn to shreds by state and federal officials alike, along with conservative pundits, in the wake of the news.

"This is another example of Democrats failing to secure elections. If Democrats would embrace voter ID – which has broad public support – the MVC’s voter registration failures would have been corrected at the ballot box," said NJ Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio, R-Hackettstown. "New Jersey needs voter ID, because citizens deserve confidence in election results and Trenton Democrats have proven they do not respond to known problems in the voter rolls."

The Trump administration weighed in, too.

"Democrats and their media allies have repeatedly said it is impossible for noncitizens to register to vote, let alone cast a ballot. Time and again, they have been proven wrong. As President Trump has said, there is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections," White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said. "And this latest incident underscores the absolute necessity of the SAVE America Act. American voters deserve to have confidence that our elections are safe and secure."

"In the same speech where she admits over 6,000 non-citizens were registered to vote, Democrat Governor Mikie Sherrill says that President Trump's address on election integrity is a 'bizarre conspiracy theory about fraud,'" the Republican National Committee said on X.

Reached for comment, Sherrill's office told Fox News Digital: "We will let Governor Sherrill's remarks yesterday and her disgust at the failure of the outgoing vendor and previous administration speak for itself."

The American soldier believed to have been killed in Jordan during an Iranian attack is being remembered as living a "life of courage and selflessness."

The Department of War announced that Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, is one of the three soldiers believed to have been "killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base" in Jordan. U.S. Central Command said over the weekend that the service members died as CENTCOM and partner forces "defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks."

"Sgt. Rampersad lived a life of courage and selflessness. New York, and our nation, are safer because of brave Americans like her who answer the call to serve," New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. "May we honor her memory, remember her sacrifice and keep all who loved her in our prayers."

"My heart is with her family, loved ones and the soldiers who stood beside her as they grieve this unimaginable loss," Hochul added.

ARMY IDENTIFIES VICTIMS KILLED IN JORDAN AIR BASE ATTACK

The Department of War said the incident leading to Rampersad’s death is under investigation and that she was previously identified as missing. The other two soldiers believed to have been killed in the attack were identified as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas. They were in Jordan supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the international campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

"Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!" Trump wrote Monday on Truth Social. "This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military."

PENTAGON IDENTIFIES ARMY SOLDIER KILLED IN ACTION DURING IRAQ OPERATION

Rampersad was assigned to 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52d Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Ansbach, Germany, and served as a 25U Signal Operations Support Specialist, according to the Department of War.

"Today, we mourn the loss of Sgt. Angel Rampersad," Brig. Gen. Glenn Henke, commanding general of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, said in a statement. "We extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to her family and all those who are navigating this unimaginable loss. The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command is grieving, and we will continue to support one another as we process this tragedy."

House panel subpoenas 3 left-wing groups in probe of $39M tied to Marxist tycoon Neville Singham

FIRST ON FOX: The powerful House Ways and Means Committee has subpoenaed three left-wing nonprofits in an investigation into more than $39 million that flowed from Marxist tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham to the groups, Fox News Digital has learned.

In three letters dated July 21 and obtained by Fox News Digital, the committee accused the three nonprofits of failing to turn over a "single responsive document" to earlier requests for information.

The committee, led by Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., issued the subpoenas to the People’s Forum Inc., a New York-based activist hub; BreakThrough News, a left-wing nonprofit media outlet; and Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, which says its work is anchored in "national liberation Marxism."

The legislative action emerges as far-left nonprofits face growing scrutiny from law enforcement agencies, policymakers and federal agencies for their alleged roles in promoting communist propaganda, engaging in money laundering schemes and fomenting discord and even political violence. Last week, Secretary of State Rubio convened a summit of 65 nations to counter "far-left terrorism.

On Monday, the State Department released a 100-page report on a network of U.S. organizations that allegedly promote propaganda for the communist regime in Cuba.

The panel said it is investigating whether existing laws governing tax-exempt organizations adequately protect against foreign influence — and whether Congress needs to change those laws. The letters cite a five-part Fox News Digital investigation published in March that exposed the flow of $285 million from Singham into a sprawling international network of nonprofits, activist groups and media operations.

"Your responses have failed to include a single responsive document and misrepresented both the scope and purpose of the Committee’s oversight," the nearly identical letters state. "Accordingly, the Committee is invoking compulsory process to obtain the requested materials."

The panel alleges that Singham channeled money through shell companies and donor-advised funds before reaching the three tax-exempt groups. Such arrangements, the committee said, can allow foreign-linked funding to pass through intermediaries that "by design, obscure the original source of the contribution."

Singham is an American-born technology tycoon and longtime Marxist activist who sold his software company, ThoughtWorks, for an estimated $785 million in 2017 and now lives in Shanghai. He has since poured hundreds of millions of dollars into organizations advancing socialist and communist causes in the United States and around the world, according to Fox News Digital’s investigation.

The Fox News Digital investigation found Singham pumped $22.44 million to People’s Forum, $16.76 million to Tricontinental and $1.098 million to Breakthrough BT Media Inc., a parent of its media arm. The committee cited Fox News Digital reporting.

In a hearing earlier this year on malign foreign influence on U.S. nonprofits, Smith said Singham maintains business ties with people and companies linked to the Chinese Communist Party and works alongside a Chinese propaganda company.

The committee first sought records from the People’s Forum in September 2025 and from BreakThrough News and Tricontinental in February.

After attorneys for the organizations refused to comply, the panel issued narrower requests on May 4.

The committee asked for records about foreign-linked funding and projects whose finances the groups managed. It also sought contracts tied to foreign people or organizations, communications with Singham about the groups’ finances or operations, contacts with other foreign interests, foreign donors who gave more than $5,000 and grants sent overseas.

Attorneys for the organizations argued that the committee lacked a sufficiently clear legislative purpose, improperly invoked the Foreign Agents Registration Act and infringed on First Amendment rights, according to the committee’s account of their objections. BreakThrough News also invoked freedom-of-the-press protections.

The attorneys later argued that the committee had "changed materially" the purpose of its investigation without adjusting its demands, leaving the organizations unable to determine whether the requested records were relevant.

Attorneys for the People’s Forum also compared the investigation to a "witch hunt" by the House Un-American Activities Committee of the 1950s and questioned whether the Ways and Means Committee had jurisdiction to investigate potential issues involving the Foreign Agents Registration Act, according to the panel’s letter.

The committee rejected those arguments, maintaining that it is investigating the organizations’ finances and structures — not their political views or reporting — and whether tax-exempt laws allow foreign-linked money to move through intermediaries without public disclosure.

"The Committee’s inquiry here is directed at financial arrangements and organizational structure, specifically whether existing tax-exempt law adequately guards against foreign-influenced funding networks of the kind documented in public reporting about Mr. Singham’s activities," the letter to the People’s Forum states.

The panel said the organizations’ failure to produce "a single responsive document" left it with no choice but to compel their compliance. The subpoenas require the groups to turn over the requested materials by Aug. 7.

Smith told Fox News Digital that the subpoenas would help expose whether America’s tax laws and charitable sector "have been exploited to advance the CCP’s influence operations inside the United States."

"The American people deserve to know whether the CCP has exploited America’s tax-exempt sector to advance its agenda," Smith said. "The Ways and Means Committee is acting on two fronts: exposing the networks that exploit our tax laws and advancing legislation to close those loopholes for good."

Singham network faces broader federal scrutiny

The subpoenas represent the latest government scrutiny of Singham’s financial network.

On June 29, Fox News Digital reported that a federal grand jury in Manhattan was investigating alleged financial crimes involving Singham and organizations he funded. The investigation, launched by U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York, is examining possible wire fraud, bank fraud, money laundering and other financial crimes, according to sources familiar with the matter.

No charges have been announced.

Fox News Digital’s five-part investigation documented $278 million flowing from Singham through a Goldman Sachs donor-advised fund and two now-defunct shell companies to six core U.S. nonprofits, including the three organizations now facing congressional subpoenas.

The investigation mapped 223 transactions totaling $591 million as money moved through successive layers of a network spanning 67 core organizations across five continents. Those organizations partnered with hundreds of additional groups, producing a wider network estimated to encompass roughly 2,000 nonprofits, activist groups, think tanks and media organizations worldwide.

Organizations within the wider network have appeared across a range of activist campaigns, including anti-Israel demonstrations, pro-Cuba actions, opposition to immigration enforcement and protests targeting artificial intelligence and data center development.

Viral bodycam video shows transgender University of Central Florida student Jarrett Vick being pepper-sprayed, tased and arrested after a confrontation with campus police escalated when the student accused an officer of misgendering.

The Feb. 5, 2025, footage shows the blue-haired student shouting at an officer inside a campus building after police reportedly responded to a disturbance. A UCF Police Department spokesperson said officers had responded to reports that a student was involved in a verbal altercation with several juveniles and became combative with officers when they arrived, according to Storyful.

"What’s the problem?" the officer asks at the start of the video.

"Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here," the student responds, according to the footage.

The officer then warns the student to calm down or face being placed in handcuffs and taken to a Baker Act facility, which is reserved for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. "F--ing try it!" the student yells back.

The officer can later be heard calling for another unit. "Can we get another unit… he is having a breakdown."

The student immediately objected to the officer’s pronoun use. "She! She! Just say the right pronoun!" the student screamed.

The pronoun dispute continued even as officers tried to put the student in handcuffs. At one point, an officer warned, "I’m gonna spray him," referring to his pepper-spray, before the student became enraged. "Don't say him!" the student yelled at the officers.

"OK, her. I'm going to spray her," the officer said as he scuffled with the student with handcuffs in hand.

"Thank you," the student said while allegedly continuing to resist arrest.

As the officer had his pepper-spray deployed, and was calling for Vick to calm down, the student began pleading for help from a nearby university administrator.

"Stop! Josh, please!" the student could be heard yelling in the footage as cops tried to wrestle Vick to the ground.

"Can you please just tell them to use the right pronouns?" the student also requested of the administrator amid the altercation. "Please, you know it’s causing me a lot of distress."

As police tried to take the student into custody, the video showed the student resisting orders to get on the ground.

Vick was eventually tased and handcuffed before being placed in a patrol vehicle. In the aftermath, one officer can be heard saying the out-of-control student threw a closed fist, grabbed an officer’s microphone and kicked an officer during the struggle.

The student was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer with violence, according to a UCF Police Department spokesperson cited by Storyful. Vick pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Orange County records listed the cases as closed, according to the New York Post.

The UCF spokesperson told Storyful that the student was enrolled at the university in spring 2025 but is not a current student and did not graduate from the school.

Rubio accuses Iran of flying IRGC personnel into Yemen as Houthi threat escalates

Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Iran on Wednesday of flying members of its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps into Yemen, saying Tehran’s actions helped ignite a renewed confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

"They decided to send direct flights from Tehran into Yemen, carrying IRGC elements and others into the country," Rubio told reporters. "And the Saudis responded to it."

Rubio did not identify the flights, specify how many IRGC personnel were allegedly transported or provide evidence supporting the allegation.

RUBIO SAYS US REMAINS OPEN TO IRAN TALKS BUT WARNS THERE 'WILL BE CONSEQUENCES'

He made the remarks while attending an annual gathering of Association of Southeast Asian Nations foreign ministers in Manila, Philippines, where the U.S.-Iran conflict and threats to international shipping were among the central security concerns.

The Houthis have declared a blockade targeting Saudi-linked vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, threatening to widen the conflict and disrupt another critical global trade route.

The rebels say they are targeting ships connected to Saudi Arabia or traveling to and from the kingdom’s Red Sea ports in retaliation for Saudi restrictions on Yemen and a recent attack on the airport in the Houthi-controlled capital of Sanaa.

IRAN-BACKED TERROR PROXY HOUTHIS THREATEN FRESH ATTACKS AFTER YEMEN AIRPORT STRIKE

The Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia for the airport attack, which they said was intended to stop a flight carrying Houthi leaders home from Iran. Rubio disputed that account and alleged that Tehran was using direct flights to transport IRGC personnel and others into Yemen.

The Houthis later launched missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport, marking one of the most serious confrontations between the two sides in years.

Rubio said U.S. officials had spoken repeatedly with Saudi officials during the past week about the Houthi threat.

"Anything that restricts shipping through the Red Sea would be problematic for the same reasons that the Strait of Hormuz is problematic," Rubio said. "So we’re watching that closely."

Saudi Arabia’s military has vowed to keep Bab el-Mandeb open and respond firmly to Houthi threats against commercial vessels using the waterway.

The narrow strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and serves as a major shipping corridor linking Europe and Asia through the Suez Canal. Around 12% of global trade and roughly one-quarter of worldwide container traffic normally pass through the route.

Its importance has grown as the U.S.-Iran conflict has sharply curtailed shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia has increasingly relied on Red Sea export routes to transport oil to international markets.

The Houthi-run SABA news agency claimed six vessels had altered course after receiving warnings from the group, a claim that could not be independently verified.

The Houthis say the blockade is limited to Saudi-linked shipping. During their earlier campaign connected to the war in Gaza, however, the rebels attacked more than 100 vessels, including ships with little or no apparent connection to Israel.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the latest Houthi threat had not materialized.

"So far, it hasn’t happened," Trump told reporters. "I think that if there is something like that, we’ll just have to take care of business."

Rubio’s accusation came as the U.S. military carried out an 11th consecutive night of strikes against targets in Iran. U.S. Central Command said the latest targets included aircraft hangars and drone storage sites.

Speaking to Southeast Asian leaders, Rubio also warned that allowing Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz, collect tolls and attack ships that refused to comply would set a dangerous precedent for international waterways around the world.

"If we create a precedent in the Middle East where a nation state can decide that they are going to control an international waterway, charge a toll and, if you don’t pay them, blow up your ships, we have created a very dangerous precedent which will repeat itself in other parts of the world, including in this region," Rubio said.

Rubio said Iran’s support for the Houthis reflects a broader pattern of backing armed groups across the Middle East.

It takes patience, preparation and enough knowledge of animal behavior to understand when to stay put, when to move and when to get the heck out of there.

And sometimes, it requires a little ice in your veins.

Wildlife photographer Matt Addington recently went viral after sharing a video from Alaska that shows a massive brown bear sow casually grazing her way to within inches of his camera equipment.

In the 16-second clip, Addington sits low in the grass as the bear slowly approaches. She stops beside his enormous camera lens, sniffs around and continues eating as if the photographer sitting directly in front of her is barely worth acknowledging.

For the millions of people who watched online, the scene was equal parts incredible and terrifying.

For Addington, though, it was something else entirely.

"Contrary to what the millions and millions of people who have chimed in on this think, it honestly was one of the most surreal and peaceful encounters that I’ve ever had," Addington told OutKick Outdoors.

Despite sitting at the feet of what he called "the ultimate apex predator on the North American continent," he said there was never a moment when he felt afraid.

"There was never a moment of fear or anxiety," Addington said. "This was the complete opposite. It was, again, one of the more peaceful, serene, surreal moments that I’ve ever had."

That doesn’t mean Addington believes all bear encounters should be treated so casually.

He explained that this particular encounter took place in Katmai, where the bears had abundant food and the sow was contently grazing on sedge grass. Addington was also accompanied by experienced bear-viewing guides Scott and Jackie Stone, and the group took deliberate precautions to avoid startling or interfering with the animals.

The bears initially stood roughly 100 to 150 yards away before slowly grazing closer. The group positioned itself upwind so the bears could smell them, spoke normally to announce their presence and allowed the animals to move freely.

"We didn’t go marching or barging in and say, ‘We’re going to get as close as we can to this bear,’" Addington said. "Everything that we do as photographers — and Scott and Jackie would say this 1000 times over — is to stay back enough that you let bears be bears."

In this case, the sow simply decided to keep eating until she was nearly on top of him.

"She happened to want to just keep curiously eating right up to my feet," he said. "Which was, again, insane."

The internet, of course, had plenty of theories about what it was watching.

Addington said he received thousands of comments in a matter of days accusing him of using AI to fabricate the footage. Given how quickly AI-generated animal videos have flooded social media, he understands the skepticism — even if it is misplaced here.

"I’ve got 45 minutes of 6K footage on two different cameras that will prove otherwise," Addington said. "That would be pretty hefty AI."

And he has no plans to trade the real wilderness for a computer screen anytime soon.

"I feel fortunate that I do get to go out with a real camera and have these real experiences," he said. "I’ll continue to seek those over building something on the computer any time."

An avid outdoorsman based in Minnesota, Addington photographs wildlife across the world, including bears, lions, elephants, elk and white-tailed deer. His work also stretches into hunting, fishing, agriculture, outdoor lifestyle campaigns and portrait photography.

Birth tourism could soon carry a severe new consequence few would risk: 'Existential crisis'

FIRST ON FOX: A new House GOP bill would create new barriers to birth tourism in the United States after the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship in a blow to President Donald Trump's agenda.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., is introducing legislation proposing criminal penalties for people residing outside the U.S. who travel to the country solely for the birth of their children. It would also make it a crime to misrepresent that purpose when entering the country.

Fine told Fox News Digital that the Supreme Court's ruling spurred his new bill.

"What we need to do to work around this situation is make it extremely unpleasant for people to come to the United States to create an anchor baby," Fine said. "And to anyone who disrespects our nation that much that would come here in order to create a paperwork American, should go to prison and should never be able to come to America ever again."

The bill would not eliminate birthright citizenship. Instead, it would impose prison terms of 10 to 25 years on adults who are neither U.S. citizens nor lawful permanent residents and who travel to or facilitate travel to the United States for the purpose of giving birth.

A federal judge would also be required to issue an order of deportation against those parents which, in theory, would make it significantly harder for that child to stay within the country.

"You may have a baby and that baby may be able to stay in America, but you won't. And I think what we need to do is make it as unappealing as possible to have a baby illegally in the United States in order to reduce the desire to do it," Fine said.

Fine said birthright citizenship rights created an "existential crisis" for the United States.

"We won't have a country if anyone who wants can show up here anytime and have a baby, which by the way, becomes effectively a ward of the state — because who do you think pays for everything associated with that illegal immigrant baby? You're saddling the American taxpayer with hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions of dollars of cost," he said.

But opponents have said that the right to be born an American inside the country's borders has been misused and abused both by people entering the U.S. illegally and wealthy foreigners seeking a foothold within the U.S.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll taken in June showed 55% of respondents were opposed to ending birthright citizenship, while 41% were in support.

This week is proving to be one of those moments where I feel like there are too many ugly losses to justify following my picks. I still put my nose to the grind and find the winners, but yesterday I took an under that was obliterated pretty quickly.

Monday, I had a loser on the Minnesota Twins almost instantly. Putting these out publicly can be difficult, but I remind myself that the next win is around the corner and I've been more profitable than in debt for betting. Let's try and get out of this mini slump with a win between the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies.

The Nationals are the talk of a lot of trade scenarios at the moment. They are 51-51, which is significantly better than most people expected them to be at this point in the season. There are only two issues — one, you can't really expect them to win the division because all of the teams (save the New York Mets) are good this season; and, two, this team was expecting to be bad this year, so the original plan was to trade pieces away and build for the future.

The team has been really good on the road this season, which is surprising. They are 31-20 away from home. Looking to improve on that mark is Cade Cavalli. For the season, Cavalli has a 6-4 record with a 3.78 ERA, and a 1.31 WHIP. His ERA is a bit lower on the road, but nothing all that remarkably different. He has a decent mixture of outs from strikeouts, flyballs, and ground balls. He has posted quality starts in four of his past five outings, but also has two starts of less than three innings in two of his past six. Only Troy Johnston has hit against Cavalli and he is 0-for-3.

The Rockies are about as bad as expected. Some were predicting them to be the worst team in baseball, and that seems a bit far. The Mets and Angels might compete for that this season. Still, the Rockies have very little to be excited about this year. They are 41-62 for the season, but are at least successful at home with a 24-28 record. They have some interesting trade pieces themselves as Hunter Goodman and Jack McCarthy might be of interest to multiple playoff pushes. This Rockies team needs to build their farm system, so it does make sense to trade some players away.

The bigger issue is that they will always need pitching. The team has never really had a reliable arm in the rotation. Sure, they signed Mike Hampton years ago, but that didn't go great. It does seem like even when they try to make a splash in free agency for hitters, it doesn't work out (read: Kris Bryant). It is far too early to say Gabriel Hughes will be reliable, but today's starter does look good in his first few games for the Rockies. He has allowed just five earned runs over 14.1 innings (two starts and one relief appearance).

I was able to grab a win on the Reds when they faced Hughes the other day and I think we can get another one here. The Rockies aren't a great hitting team, and despite them being better at Coors Field, I don't think they are going to do well against Cavalli. Part of what I like about the Nationals is how Cavalli mixes pitches and can get outs in many different ways. Pitching at Coors is always an issue, but I'll be taking the Nationals to win this one.

Denver Broncos 2025 betting outlook: Why the over on 9.5 wins looks like the right play

We are at team number three in this journey of trying to cover every team from the NFL before this season kicks off. This is a good exercise for anyone who is into any sport. It helps with futures betting, obviously, but also gives you a good understanding of what each team did in the offseason, which hopefully helps you get out of the gate on the correct foot. The Denver Broncos are a team looking to get out to a great start after a tough end to their season.

Last Year

Denver, in 2024, surprised some people with a solid season. The Broncos made the playoffs but lost to Buffalo. Last year, there was no surprise; they were the dominant team in the division (which had been owned by Kansas City for years). They had one of the best defenses in football, and their offense did just enough to get the wins. After starting the season 1-2, they ran off 11 straight wins. In the postseason, they beat the Bills in a wild game, winning 33-30. Bo Nix, their quarterback, was injured in the game and ultimately didn’t play in the next game. That was against New England, who won a boring 10-7 game. To Jarrett Stidham’s credit, he did what he could, but it wasn’t enough as both defenses fought tough, but New England did just a bit more.

Offseason additions and subtractions

Sometimes when you’re that close, you have to just knock the door down and go for it. Denver traded away three picks (they did get one back) to get Jaylen Waddle onto the roster. He is a good complementary wide receiver for the Broncos, but I think that was a lot to pay for a guy that I think is only slightly above average. They didn’t really lose anyone on defense, which might be the best offseason move they could make. One player they lost was defensive tackle John Franklin-Meyers, who is good, but I think replaceable enough.

Roster

When I look at the depth chart for the Broncos, I am not overwhelmingly impressed with their offense. I know Bo Nix played very well last year, but I also don’t know if this is a guy who will be great every season. I think the Broncos were very lucky last season, and some of that will regress. The strength of the team is defense. They should once again be an elite unit in the league. Sean Payton is still a good coach and creative on offense, so maybe I’m dogging the offense when I shouldn’t.

Betting Outlook

I think the books have dropped the Broncos back a bit too much. At 9.5 games, they should be able to achieve this total. You’re still likely to get two wins against the Raiders; I would think they can split or beat Kansas City both times. It will be a tougher schedule, no doubt, but I think 10 wins seems like a very achievable number. This defense will still compete, but probably take a step back with a very tough schedule. Give me the over 9.5 wins.

Rep Gill challenges 'genuinely insane and objectively offensive' Democratic socialists after viral hearing

Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, urged Republicans to force far-left Democrats to defend their own ideas during a Tuesday appearance on "Hannity," arguing that many of their positions are impossible to justify when subjected to scrutiny.

"We have gone so long letting the left say the most crazy, outlandish things," Gill said.

"I think it's time that we call the left out on this stuff and put them on the spot and make them answer for this, make them explain to the American people what they really mean whenever they say that being polite is somehow evidence of White supremacy, and that's what we tried to do there," he added.

Gill said the exchange illustrated why Republicans should force progressives to publicly defend their beliefs, suggesting that many of their ideas lose support once they're fully explained to voters.

"These things are genuinely insane and objectively offensive, I think, to a lot of Americans," he said.

"I think your average rank-and-file Democrat in the House right now recognizes that the Democratic socialists are no longer the fringe in their party. That is the mainstream. President Donald Trump said Tuesday the U.S. would "take care of things" if Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis follow through on threats to impose a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, as his administration reportedly backed Riyadh's renewed military campaign against the group.

His comments came after the Houthis announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia Monday, only days after Saudi forces struck Sanaa International Airport and after Iran reportedly instructed the group to prepare to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait if the U.S. attacks Iranian power infrastructure.

"So far, it hasn't happened, might happen, but we take care of things," Trump said in the Oval Office. "If something like that happens, we take care of it."

Saudi forces targeted the airport Monday after an Iranian Mahan Air flight carrying Houthi officials back from Iran was forced to divert, according to Axios. A U.S. official told the outlet the aircraft was believed to be carrying weapons, missile components and Iranian military personnel intended for the Houthis.

Trump's warning comes as the administration has expanded military operations against Iran while the Houthis threaten to disrupt shipping in the Red Sea. The developments have fueled concerns that Washington could become increasingly involved in efforts to secure one of the world's most important maritime trade corridors while simultaneously confronting Iran in the Persian Gulf.

The prospect of simultaneous disruption at the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb has become one of the biggest concerns for global shipping markets: Together, the routes normally carry roughly one-third of global seaborne oil trade and serve as critical arteries for energy shipments between the Middle East, Europe and Asia, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data.

The Houthis already have shown they can disrupt one of the world's busiest shipping corridors. Since late 2023, the group has carried out more than 190 attacks on commercial shipping, forcing major carriers to abandon the Red Sea route in favor of the far longer trip around Africa.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sought Trump's approval before launching the latest strikes against the Houthis — and that approval was granted, according to the Axios report.

The White House could not be reached for comment. The Pentagon and U.S. Central Command declined to comment.

For years, the Houthis have evolved into one of Iran's most effective regional partners, allowing Iran to pressure global commerce while avoiding a direct military confrontation with the United States or its allies. The group has repeatedly launched missiles and drones at commercial vessels transiting the Red Sea, disrupting international shipping and forcing vessels to reroute around southern Africa.

Although direct fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis largely subsided following a U.N.-brokered truce in 2022, the group continued expanding its missile, drone and maritime capabilities with Iranian support. The exchange of Saudi airstrikes and Houthi missile attacks marked the most significant cross-border escalation between the two sides in roughly four years.

Bridget Toomey, a research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies think tank, said the latest escalation was driven by Saudi concerns that Iran and the Houthis were attempting to establish a dangerous new status quo by opening a direct air link between Tehran and Houthi-controlled Sanaa.

She said such flights would create an easier route for Iran to move weapons, drones and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps advisers into Yemen, posing a threat not only to Saudi Arabia but also to broader U.S. and international security interests.

"A direct air connection between Tehran and Sanaa would be a serious threat, not just to the international community, but also to Saudi Arabia," Toomey told Fox News Digital.

Rather than signaling a return to the yearslong Saudi-led intervention in Yemen, Toomey described Riyadh's response as "a measured escalation" intended to demonstrate it would not allow such an air bridge to become normalized.

That objective appeared to shape one of Saudi Arabia's most consequential strikes this week.

The Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, is one of the world's busiest maritime choke points. Nearly 15% of global seaborne trade passes through the corridor each year, making it a critical route for commercial shipping and energy supplies moving between Asia and Europe.

The latest threat comes as commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has also faced disruption amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. While the two waterways are separated by hundreds of miles, together they form the principal maritime corridor linking the Persian Gulf with Europe. Serious disruption to both would place additional pressure on global energy exports, increase shipping costs and deepen supply chain disruptions.

Toomey said the Houthis occupy a unique position within Iran's regional network because of where they are located.

"They're crucial to Iran's broader ability to expand the conflict," she said. "Iraqi militias or Hezbollah don't sit on a maritime choke point."

Still, she cautioned against viewing the Houthis simply as an extension of Tehran, noting that Iran's command and control over the group has historically been less direct than its relationships with some of its other proxy organizations.

Gregg Roman, executive director of the Middle East Forum, said Trump's backing of the Saudi operation and his latest warning to the Houthis point to an administration willing to support regional allies while confronting Iranian-backed groups that threaten maritime commerce.

"The Iranians are trying to project power. The president is supportive of any effort to limit that projection," Roman told Fox News Digital.

Roman said the airport strike reinforced Saudi Arabia's long-running effort to prevent Iran from establishing a direct supply corridor into Houthi-controlled Yemen.

"We're certainly not going to allow you to have any shipments to reinforce the Houthis," he said.

If the campaign continues with Washington's backing, it would place one of Iran's most strategically valuable regional partners under renewed military pressure while increasing the cost of Tehran's broader effort to project power across the Middle East.

FIRST ON FOX: House Republicans are staking out their position as congressional permitting talks heat up with a sweeping legislative package aimed at lowering energy costs, strengthening grid reliability and speeding up the construction of new energy projects.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., will introduce the 96-page "Permitting Our Way to an Energy Resurgence (POWER) Act" on Wednesday, describing it as a "discussion draft" as the panel continues to hear feedback from lawmakers and industry stakeholders.

The measure combines nearly 20 Republican proposals that would streamline approvals for pipelines, transmission lines, power plants and manufacturing projects while addressing rapidly growing electricity demand tied to artificial intelligence data centers.

Beyond permitting, the mammoth legislation seeks to shield ratepayers from price hikes by requiring data centers to bear the costs of grid upgrades.

The legislation would also give dispatchable power plants priority over intermittent sources such as wind and solar in interconnection queues, expand federal regulators' authority to keep power plants online and overhaul portions of the Clean Air Act.

"To win the race to AI dominance, onshore jobs, and deliver reliable and affordable power for families, America needs a permitting system that works for their communities," Guthrie said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

"The POWER Act cuts the red tape holding back American energy, protects hard-working families from higher electricity costs, and keeps the lights on for generations to come," he continued.

Guthrie said the energy package is the result of months of collaboration among GOP members across the committee.

"For too long, burdensome regulations that fail to meet the moment have held back American innovation and growth," he said. "I’m proud to introduce commonsense legislation that will make energy more affordable for every American."

The legislation’s introduction comes as bipartisan negotiations over permitting reform have long proven elusive, despite widespread acknowledgment of the need for reforms to the federal government’s complex permitting process.

It is unclear whether House GOP leaders will bring Guthrie's package to the floor before the midterm elections. Lawmakers have less than two dozen legislative days left on the calendar heading into November.

Among the package's most consequential provisions is legislation from Rep. Troy Balderson, R-Ohio, that would check the federal government’s ability to issue far-reaching environmental regulations.

Republicans say Balderson's Reliable Power Act is intended to ensure burdensome regulations from agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency do not jeopardize the nation's power supply.

Another marquee proposal, authored by Rep. Gabe Evans, R-Colo., would require large commercial electricity users, including data centers, to front the full cost of infrastructure upgrades.

The provision effectively codifies Trump’s "ratepayer protection pledge," under which large companies committed not to pass data center development costs on to everyday consumers through utility rate hikes.

"America must build the energy infrastructure necessary to win the global AI race and outcompete adversaries like Communist China — but hardworking families should never be forced to subsidize that growth through higher electric bills," Evans said Wednesday after the measure advanced out of committee with bipartisan support as a standalone bill.

The package also includes several other long-standing GOP energy priorities, including Evans' FIRE Act, which would shield states from Clean Air Act penalties tied to wildfire prevention efforts such as prescribed burns and brush clearing.

Pancreatic cancer vaccine shows promise in first human trial, preventing disease in high-risk patients

A new vaccine for the prevention of pancreatic cancer has shown promise in an early study at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

A phase 1 trial published in Cancer Discovery, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, tested an experimental vaccine called mKRAS-VAX in 20 people, according to a press release.

Participants had an inherited risk of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the most common and aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, along with an abnormality detected in imaging, typically a pancreatic cyst. These individuals had not been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Four injections were administered to participants during weeks one, three and five, along with a booster at week 13.

The vaccine targeted six common mutations of KRAS. Changes in this gene drive more than 90% of PDACs.

The vaccine triggered a mutant KRAS-targeted immune response in 18 of the 20 participants (90%). On average, immune activity increased about 18-fold, although responses varied. Half of participants responded to all six KRAS mutations included in the vaccine.

Researchers also found the vaccine generated two types of T cells — one to attack abnormal cells and another to provide longer-term immune memory.

The vaccine appeared to be safe, with participants experiencing only injection-site reactions and temporary flu-like symptoms.

While the phase 1 trial was designed primarily to evaluate safety rather than effectiveness, after about 16.5 months of follow-up, no participants had developed pancreatic cancer. At the same time, 37.5% of vaccinated participants experienced shrinkage or disappearance of the pancreatic cysts that had put them at increased risk for the disease.

Study co-author Neeha Zaidi, MD, associate professor of oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University, commented that the long-lasting response of this vaccine is "particularly noteworthy when assessing for possible interception of cancer, which requires long-lasting immunity."

"In addition, the vaccine was safe and well-tolerated, supporting its use in larger cancer interception studies," she said in the press release. "Overall, this study represents the first proof of concept for the use of vaccines for interception of pancreatic cancer in human patients."

Co-author Michael G. Goggins, MD, professor of pathology, medicine and oncology and the Sol Goldman Professor of Pancreatic Cancer Research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, also commented on the findings.

"We observed evidence of stability or regression of the pancreatic cysts in association with the induction and durability of KRAS-specific T-cell responses," he said in the release. "However, larger studies are needed to demonstrate that this effect was in fact due to the vaccine."

The authors noted the study was limited by its small sample size and because it was not designed to determine clinical efficacy.

Fellow senior author Elizabeth Jaffee, MD, deputy director of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, commented that prevention and interception "save lives and reduce the morbidity associated with cancer development and progression."

"This is especially important for cancers whose early-onset frequency is increasing and for which we do not have effective methods for early detection," she added in the release.

Jaffee noted that this research highlights the need for more funding to support developing strategies for preventing cancer in high-risk individuals.

"More studies are needed to find the best vaccine approaches, the best targets and the ideal timing for vaccination," she said.

'Looksmaxxing' influencer Clavicular rejects incel label, faults 'both' men and women

Viral influencer Clavicular revealed his thoughts on "incel culture" — an online subculture of mostly young, heterosexual men who identify as "involuntary celibates," and are often stigmatized as misogynistic — as well as modern dating culture amid his controversial streaming antics.

The 20-year-old internet personality, whose real name is Braden Peters, sat down with Fox News host Sean Hannity for the July 21 episode of "Hang Out with Sean Hannity." When asked about his content strategy and his views on women, Clavicular defended his "looksmaxxing" movement and accusations that it promotes "incel culture."

"People will often try to associate looksmaxxing with incel culture and being super resentful of women, when it's actually the antithesis of that, right?" he said. "Looksmaxxing is trying to escape inceldom, if anything, so for that link to try to be made makes no sense to me whatsoever."

"Looksmaxxing" is a strict health regimen that is meant to perfect one's appearance, and includes practices such as taking stimulants and bone smashing, which Clavicular describes as striking your facial bones with a hammer in an effort to stimulate bone growth.

The streamer also mused about how incel culture may be affecting the dating scene and connections between men and women.

"Every time I talk about hypergamy and why the dating market is hard, I'll talk about how maybe women on dating apps will go for the top profiles and this and that," he said. "But then I'll also say right after, you know, can you really blame them with the generation of men that's out there for them? So I think it's a problem on both sides. It's not just women, it's not just men — it is holistic."

Clavicular was previously pressed about whether he identifies as an incel during a tense sit-down interview with "60 Minutes Australia" correspondent Adam Hegarty in April. He lashed out at the reporter and criticized the question.

"I mean, how could you ask me that question as a follow-up after you asked me about my relationships to women?" he replied. "I mean, that’s quite literally the worst sequence of questions I think I’ve ever heard."

Hegarty repeatedly pressed Clavicular about his alleged ties to the incel community and his connection to fellow internet personality Andrew Tate, but he denied any links to the group.

"I’m not linked to that group in any way," he countered. "Looksmaxxing is self-improvement, right? So it’s about potentially even ascending out of that category. So that would be kind of one of the goals — to dissociate from being an incel and overcome that. So that doesn’t make sense."

Clavicular ended the interview abruptly, storming off the set.

Conversely, Hannity left Clavicular with some encouraging words after their wide-ranging conversation, wishing him "all the success in the world" and advising him to be "careful."

The controversial viral star was arrested in March on a battery charge after police alleged he instigated a fight between two women and posted the video to social media. The incident sparked additional concerns about his treatment of women, especially on his livestreams.

IDF says Palestinian soccer players it targeted served Hamas and Jihad terror groups

EXCLUSIVE: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has told Fox News Digital that soccer players representing the Palestinian Authority it targeted with military strikes were allegedly also working as terrorists for Hamas and Jihadist groups.

"In recent weeks, false claims have been circulated alleging that the IDF deliberately targeted innocent Palestinian soccer players throughout the war," the IDF said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"In light of these claims, the IDF is now revealing the identities of Palestinian soccer players, referees, and coaches who were presented as athletes and innocent civilians, but who in fact served as terrorists in the military wings of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, and were struck and eliminated by the IDF during the war.

"Following an intelligence assessment, the IDF can now disclose these terrorists’ organizational affiliations and operational roles. In many cases, they were portrayed internationally only as players, with no mention of their affiliation with terrorist organizations."

The IDF identified the players as Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Barakat, Mahmoud Kamal Mohammad Ali Al-Rifi, Mohammed Mansour, Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Abu Al-Atta, Abdullah Riyadh Abdullah Khattab, Ali Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Kurd, Mohammad Emad Ata Hussouna, Tariq Ziad Hussein Al-Hour, Mohammed Ziad Hussein Al-Hour, Mahmoud Osama Al-Jazzar and Mohammad Nidal Mohammed Al-Hawajri.

According to the IDF, three of the players were allegedly involved in the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre, and others allegedly served in other terror operations and leadership roles.

"The false campaign portraying the IDF as deliberately targeting members of the soccer community, which was created as part of a broader effort promoted by various actors against the State of Israel, accompanies other false narratives advanced throughout the war," the IDF added.

"In those campaigns, Palestinian terrorists struck and eliminated by the IDF were presented as journalists, humanitarian aid workers, and other civilian professionals, while their involvement in terrorist activity was deliberately concealed in order to promote false claims that they had been targeted because of their civilian professions."

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Permanent Observer Mission of the State of Palestine to the United Nations for a response to the IDF's claims.

For over two years, the Palestinian Football Association, headed by Jibril Rajoub, has aggressively lobbied the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and FIFA to suspend Israel from international competition. Rajoub and the PFA have repeatedly cited the mounting death toll of Palestinian athletes and the destruction of sports infrastructure in Gaza as grounds for an immediate, indefinite ban.

The campaign reached a boiling point at recent FIFA Congresses. However, following extensive legal reviews, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee ultimately rejected the PFA's demands to suspend Israel entirely.

Instead, FIFA recently opted to impose a fine on the Israel Football Association (IFA) for unrelated disciplinary breaches and ordered the Israeli team to display a "Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination" banner during upcoming matches.

However, FIFA did not let the IFA walk away completely untouched. In a compromise measure, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee opted to penalize the Israeli association for unrelated disciplinary breaches.

The IFA was fined 150,000 Swiss francs (approximately $190,700) for multiple breaches of anti-discrimination obligations. Additionally, FIFA ordered the IFA to implement a mandatory anti-discrimination prevention plan and required the Israeli team to prominently display "Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination" banners during upcoming matches.
