Pentagon orders mandatory testosterone tests for male troops 30 and older

The Pentagon on Wednesday issued clinical guidelines establishing a new mandatory testosterone deficiency screening policy for active-duty and reserve service members ages 30 and up.

This comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced in July that he was authorizing the screening program for troops to ensure "you have the right testosterone levels to operate at your absolute best."

"Taking care of your long-term health means ensuring you remain strong, resilient and capable — not just for your next deployment, but for the rest of your life, so you can thrive long after you take off the uniform," he said at the time.

According to the new guidance, which is effective immediately, men ages 30 and older will undergo mandatory testosterone blood tests, while younger men will be tested only if requested or if clinicians identify warning signs.

Men found to have low testosterone levels may undergo further evaluation and, if clinically appropriate, may be offered voluntary hormone replacement therapy.

Levels of testosterone naturally increase during puberty. The hormone helps boys develop muscle strength and body hair as well as make sperm. Between ages 30 and 40, testosterone levels in men naturally start to decline.

Women will not be required to take routine testosterone blood tests under the new guidance, but they will be subject to screening for fatigue and disrupted menstrual cycles that can be associated with hormonal dysregulation and conditions called low-energy availability and relative energy deficiency in sport.

Guidelines were put into place for when it is appropriate to prescribe off-label testosterone in women, particularly for postmenopausal women with unusually low sexual desire.

Testosterone use for non-medical purposes, including performance enhancement without a doctor's prescription, remains prohibited in the military.

The Pentagon said the standardized screening and treatment pathways for men and women seek to boost military readiness by identifying and managing hormonal and energy-availability issues.

Some endocrinologists and other medical experts have raised concerns that broad testosterone testing could lead to unnecessary or potentially harmful treatment, saying there is a lack of evidence to support the claim that universal screening for low testosterone among service members would improve military readiness.

The Food and Drug Administration intends to hold a meeting later this month with experts to discuss the medical use of testosterone.

If Lindsay Clancy's murder trial ends in a mistrial, her defense could hold an unusual advantage in a retrial, a retired Massachusetts Superior Court judge says, as jurors reported for a second time Wednesday that they remain deadlocked.

Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children — Cora, Dawson and Callan, all under age 6 — who were found strangled at the family's home in January 2023.

Judge William Sullivan gave jurors a Tuey-Rodriguez charge Wednesday afternoon after they reported for a second time that they were deadlocked, having first signaled they were stuck earlier in the week. The charge is given to a deadlocked jury to encourage they continue deliberations, but also to remind them to listen to one another without sacrificing their honestly held opinions.

Sullivan declined to give the instruction earlier in the week when jurors first reported difficulty agreeing, opting instead to simply send them back.

The jurors deliberating in Clancy's murder trial are discussing several options, which include first-degree murder, second-degree murder, voluntary or involuntary manslaughter, not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility (insanity) or not guilty.

Retired Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Jack Lu told Fox News Digital that a retrial after a mistrial has traditionally favored the prosecution, but that social media has upended that conventional wisdom.

"In the past, the conventional wisdom was that the prosecution is more likely to win on a retrial after a hung jury. Now it's different... The new conventional wisdom is question mark because of social media infected trials," Lu said.

Lu pointed to Karen Read's case, the Massachusetts woman who was tried twice in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend. Her case drew a massive amount of social media interest, which he said had a major impact on her trials. In 2024, jurors deadlocked in Read's trial, and she was acquitted at her retrial in 2025.

"In the Karen Read case, the social media abuse was at a slow boil in the first trial. At the second trial, it just all erupted," Lu said.

Lu himself said he's no longer on social media because "it's too abusive an environment."

While Reddington himself said he'd "absolutely" go to trial again if Sullivan declares a mistrial, he said Clancy couldn't emotionally handle another one.

"She had a flat affect, she’s sad," he said on Tuesday to reporters.

In a note sent to Sullivan on Tuesday, jurors said that "after many hours of deliberation, we are unable to come to a unanimous decision." He directed them to resume their work.

If jurors return once more to say they are still deadlocked, Lu said, the case will likely end in a mistrial.

US military boards, searches and sinks vessel allegedly supporting Los Choneros narco-terrorists

The U.S. military on Wednesday intercepted and sank a vessel in the Eastern Pacific that it said was supporting a "narco-terrorist" organization, according to U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

SOUTHCOM said the operation targeted a vessel tied to Los Choneros, which it described as a violent narco-terrorist organization.

"On Sept. 2, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, and in coordination and collaboration with the Government of Ecuador, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere (JTF-WHEM) successfully interdicted a vessel operating as a floating refueling station in support of illicit at-sea drug trafficking operations in international waters of the Eastern Pacific," SOUTHCOM said in a statement.

"Intelligence confirmed the vessel was operating in support of the Los Choneros violent narco-terrorist organization," the military added.

SOUTHCOM said U.S. Marines and sailors from the USS San Antonio "interdicted, boarded, searched, and cleared the vessel without incident."

The military said multiple individuals were removed from the vessel and transferred to Ecuadorian authorities.

Once the individuals were safely removed, U.S. forces sank the vessel, SOUTHCOM said.

In its statement, SOUTHCOM said the operation "cuts off a critical node" in the alleged drug traffickers' illicit activities. It did not disclose the specific location of the operation.

The action was taken in support of the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition (A3C) and JTF-WHEM's mission to dismantle narco-terrorist networks in the region, according to SOUTHCOM.

Video of the operation released by SOUTHCOM shows military personnel intercepting the vessel before boarding it and ultimately sinking the craft.

SOUTHCOM also responded after Ecuador's Ministry of National Defense shared footage of the operation on social media.

"The message is clear: the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition will continue to apply total systemic friction on narco-terrorists," SOUTHCOM wrote.

Wednesday's interdiction comes amid a monthslong campaign launched by the Trump administration aimed at dismantling cartel-linked trafficking networks.

SOUTHCOM has conducted dozens of strikes in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean targeting vessels it says are connected to "narco-terrorists."

Last week, the military said it carried out a strike in the Caribbean that killed four alleged "narco-terrorists."

Following that strike, the Trump administration's campaign targeting suspected cartel vessels has resulted in at least 227 deaths across 68 reported strikes over roughly one year.

15-year-old accused of firing into crowd during deadly Seattle mass shooting claims self-defense

A 15-year-old boy accused of opening fire during a deadly shootout at a crowded Seattle food festival claims he was shooting back in self-defense as authorities continue searching for other gunmen tied to the bloodshed.

The teen allegedly pulled a handgun from a pouch and fired after two unidentified suspects began shooting toward him and his friend at the Bite of Seattle on July 26, his attorney said in court documents obtained by KOMO News.

The gunfire sent festivalgoers scrambling outside the Seattle Center Armory near the Space Needle. Three people were killed, and four others were wounded, including a 2-year-old boy, Fox News Digital previously reported.

Police have described the bloodshed as a gang-related shootout that left innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. The dead included 19-year-old Niko-Semo, a 44-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman.

More than a month later, the 15-year-old remains the only person charged in connection with the shooting.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office told Fox News Digital that police have not brought prosecutors any cases involving anyone else in the shooting.

"Seattle Police are handling the investigation," the office said. "No other cases from the Bite of Seattle shooting other than the charged case involving the 15-year-old have been referred by police investigators to the KCPAO."

Police have, however, identified two potential persons of interest after combing through roughly 450 hours of video, Interim Seattle Police Chief Andre Sayles told FOX 13 Seattle.

Sayles cautioned that police have not determined whether the two people opened fire.

"I can say that we are looking at two potential persons of interest in this incident, not saying that they are the shooters or anything of that nature, but people that we have identified that we need to have a conversation with," Sayles said.

No additional arrests have been announced. Sayles said detectives are moving closer to interviews and could make arrests if the evidence supports them.

The teen, whose name has not been released because he is charged as a juvenile, insists he only opened fire after someone began shooting at him.

His public defender, Hong Tran, said several eyewitnesses backed up that version of events.

"Law enforcement has interviewed several eyewitnesses to the shooting who confirmed that [the teen] reached for a firearm after the shooting started," Tran wrote in an Aug. 28 memorandum, according to KOMO News.

Tran said the boy had gone to the festival to enjoy the food and was standing near Niko-Semo when the first shots rang out.

"After hearing shots fired, witnesses observed [the teen] pull a firearm from a pouch and shoot in the direction of the shots," Tran wrote.

Officers working the festival raced toward the gunfire and arrested the teen at the scene. Witness video obtained by KOMO News appears to show police taking him into custody.

"I was getting shot at," the teen told officers, according to the defense filing. He said he fired back in self-defense.

Prosecutors say the teen's actions were anything but defensive, accusing him of recklessly firing into an area packed with adults and children.

"There is no greater threat to the community than a person indiscriminately firing into a crowd of adults and children who only wanted to attend and enjoy Bite of Seattle," Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Logan Bryant wrote in a filing opposing the teen's release, according to KOMO News.

The teen faces first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 18, King County Superior Court records show. Prosecutors also filed a firearm sentencing enhancement with the assault charge.

His shots were not responsible for any of the three deaths, according to court records cited by KOMO News.

Prosecutors said the boy was carrying a Polymer80 "ghost gun" fitted with an extended magazine capable of holding more than 30 rounds. The privately assembled weapon did not have a standard serial number and allegedly carried a vanity plate reading "1 SHOT 1 KILL."

Investigators recovered at least four guns at the scene, including weapons allegedly tied to the teen and Niko-Semo, KOMO News reported. Police have been testing the firearms as they work to determine who else was involved in the deadly exchange.

The teen's attorney asked a judge to release him to electronic monitoring at his father's home. The judge rejected the request last week and ordered him to remain in custody.

The shooting also sparked scrutiny over the city's delayed public updates and decision not to use its emergency alert system.

Days later, Wilson accepted Barnes' resignation after he was asked to step down during a meeting with the mayor, five sources told FOX 13 Seattle. Barnes later defended his response and said he followed department protocol, KOMO News reported.

The teen is due back in juvenile court for a status hearing in October. Prosecutors will ask a judge in November to move the case to adult court.

Justice Department officials confirmed they are already reviewing an appeal. "We are disappointed by the Court’s order and remain committed to enforcing President Trump’s agenda of preventing boys from playing in girls’ sports," a Justice Department spokesperson stated following the decision.

Maine's high court gives father final say over daughter’s church attendance

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court affirmed a lower court ruling that granted a father final decision-making authority over whether his daughter attends her mother's evangelical church amid a parental dispute over the child's religious upbringing.

The court's ruling on Tuesday maintains a Portland District Court judge's decision regarding a 2024 dispute between Matthew Bradeen and Emily Bickford about the church attendance of their daughter, who was 11 years old at the time, according to The Maine Monitor.

Bickford had been taking her daughter to Calvary Chapel Greater Portland, an evangelical church in Westbrook, on multiple occasions each week.

Bradeen argued the church was a "dangerous and harmful environment" that had caused anxiety in his daughter. He said she suffered a panic attack after hearing the church's teachings on the Rapture, a belief that Christians will suddenly be taken to heaven during the end times while nonbelievers will be left behind to face the apocalypse.

The lower court sided with Bradeen, finding that messages the child received at the church were "psychologically damaging" because of how it characterized her father, a ruling the state’s high court affirmed on Tuesday, according to The Maine Monitor.

The lower court ruling granted Bradeen the right to decide whether his daughter attends services at Calvary Chapel, participates in church activities or interacts with church members other than her mother.

The court also said the parents must "continue to share parental rights and responsibilities" when it comes to their daughter’s exposure to other religious groups.

If the two disagreed on their daughter's religious exposure, the court ruled that the father has the final say. The court said the allocation of final decision-making authority stemmed from the parents' inability to jointly make decisions about the child's religious upbringing, not from disagreement with the mother's religious beliefs.

Bickford’s lawyer, Mathew Staver, told The Maine Monitor he intends to appeal the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. Bickford and her legal team have 90 days to appeal the decision to the nation's highest court.

Staver’s law firm, Liberty Counsel, which describes itself as a Christian ministry focused on religious freedom, has been involved in other religious freedom cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including a 2022 case in which the court sided with a private religious group that Boston officials had prohibited from flying a Christian flag.

In the dispute between Bradeen and Bickford, Liberty Counsel argued to Maine's high court that the 2024 order violated the mother's First Amendment rights through its "open hostility" toward religious beliefs and by barring her from influencing the
"Religious upbringing of her child as she sees fit," the outlet reported.

"What Maine has done in this decision is put the Supreme Court of Maine at odds with the courts of a number of other states," Staver said. "I think it will be a case that will be very significant and catch the attention of the Supreme Court because of how far-reaching it is with regards to the First Amendment exercise clause."

Bradeen's lawyer, Michelle King, called Tuesday's decision "well thought-out and reasoned," saying Bradeen was happy with the outcome, according to the outlet.

"Anytime you’re in court, it’s stressful," King said. "But this case has definitely garnered a lot of media attention, and I think that’s always difficult for parents."

Part of the case centered on a service in which the pastor singled out Bradeen by name, The Maine Monitor reported.

As legal proceedings for the original dispute were ongoing, Bickford brought her daughter to a service at Calvary Chapel Greater Portland, where pastor Travis Carey led a six-and-a-half-minute prayer focused on the case, referring to the parents and child by name almost 30 times, saying Bradeen is "in need of salvation" and calling the proceedings "an attack on God's Word," according to the report.

The Maine Supreme Court said Bickford did not make any attempt to pull her child from the service, and she later described it as "appropriate."

In the 2024 lower court order, Maine District Court Judge Jennifer Nofsinger wrote that the harm caused to the daughter did not result from "a belief system that is rooted in the Bible," but rather, from the mother’s "inability to co-parent" regarding religion and the fact that she had given control of decisions about her daughter’s best interests to the church, and its language had denigrated the father.

"The court found that the child was harmed by Bickford’s decisions to expose the child to messages that characterized Bradeen as an ‘enemy’ who seeks to ‘persecute’ the child and her faith, and by Bickford’s unwillingness to prevent the child from receiving those messages or to take any other steps to reduce the risk of alienating her from Bradeen," the Maine Supreme Court wrote in its decision on Tuesday upholding the lower court order.

The final finding "reflected simply that it is harmful for a child to hear negative and frightening messages about one parent from the other parent or the other parent’s authority figures."

The court ruled that the order was based on the parents’ inability to co-parent on religion, not on the substance of Bickford’s religious beliefs, finding it necessary for one parent to be given the power to make final decisions over the other.

Golf is often seen as a very staid, traditional sport where little changes over time. But the past few years have been a tumultuous period in the professional game, at least, with the rise and now seeming fall of the LIV Golf Tour.

LIV's impact hasn't just been limited to their events, players and debate over how their tournaments should be weighed for major qualification or evaluated for Ryder Cup team selection. The PGA Tour, in response to LIV's formation, was essentially forced to make changes to keep top players in place.

Signature events with higher purses. Changing some tournaments to have no cuts. More support for the big names. All changed how the tour worked and who played in what events. The signature events enjoyed better competition as star players competed for $20 million in prize money, but some smaller tournaments suffered as golfers chose rest rather than travel and play for smaller rewards.

One of the key personalities in these changes and negotiations on the PGA Tour has been Rory McIlroy. McIlroy committed to the PGA Tour when others were bolting, assumed a leadership role with commissioner Jay Monahan on the PGA's response and has become increasingly vocal as he becomes a "veteran" at 37-years-old.

And with the tour facing an even more aggressive set of changes under new CEO Brian Rolapp, McIlroy spoke about what that might mean for his schedule. Which seems to be decreasing each season.

After his third round at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, McIlroy admitted that his interest in playing most tournaments has decreased as he progresses through his career.

"I think once you lose your enthusiasm to go to the course, it is time to take a break," McIlroy said.

"I've turned up to events that I haven't necessarily wanted to be there because I feel like I should be there."

"This is my third week in a row. I rarely do that anymore, and I feel like that is my limit," he said.

"If I had to tee up again next week, that to me is tough."

He also said he'll never play four straight weeks in a row moving forward, and that his "fuse" has gotten shorter over time.

"But again, I am 37. This is my 18th or 19th year as a professional, so my fuse is a little shorter than it used to be," he added.

As for the reduced schedule he wants to play, McIlroy said it's likely going to get even smaller, "I play my schedule and I'll continue to play my schedule, which is getting less and less as the years go on."

Regarding the changes made to the PGA Tour moving forward, two different "tracks" for events, as well as promotion and relegation for the first time ever, he doesn't seem too excited for what that might mean. And blames LIV, in some small part, for what's happened.

"It's funny. Like I think, as they've done all this work, you start to realize that the way the tour was before LIV came along was actually pretty good," he said. "It was a pretty good structure, and everything sort of worked pretty well. LIV created this false economy where we had to up prize funds and had to cut fields and try to support the top players and all that stuff, which I think needed to happen because that was the only way to retain talent at the time.

"But now that LIV looks like it's less of a threat, I think the old ways of the PGA Tour weren't actually that bad."

Part of that increasing willingness to be honest about his views on golf, his place in the tour, and the future, is that McIlroy in some ways felt abandoned by Monahan, that all his efforts to keep the PGA Tour together weren't appreciated. Now, with rumors suggesting that some LIV players, including two-time major champion Jon Rahm, might be looking to return, it seems he's feeling further and further removed from the weekly grind of a PGA Tour schedule.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed permanent flight rules around President Donald J. Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, Florida, to secure the airspace near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate amid heightened concerns over unauthorized aircraft and rogue drones — moves that some say are insufficient to deter dedicated adversaries.

The regulatory action was initiated at the request of the U.S. Secret Service, in the "interest of national security," the agency confirmed to Fox News Digital.

"At the request of the U.S. Secret Service in the interest of national security, the FAA is proposing Special Air Traffic Rules for the airspace near Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT)," an FAA spokesperson said.

Arriving and departing aircraft would also need to meet strict security criteria before entering the airspace.

Velicovich emphasized that government agencies must move faster to adopt active interdiction capabilities rather than relying solely on airspace designations.

"We're going to have to have more counter-drone systems in place because it is not good enough simply for the FAA to send a message saying this area is a no-drone zone," he added. "When you're a bad actor, that doesn't matter."

The FAA proposal remains open for public comment through Oct. 2.

Tim Curry's cause of death has been revealed.

According to documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, obtained by Fox News Digital, Curry died at age 80 on Aug. 25 from coronary artery disease. The department of public health also listed Curry's history of stroke and kidney cancer as other conditions that contributed to his death.

The document clarified that Curry never underwent surgery for a stroke, kidney cancer or coronary artery disease.

Curry's death was confirmed by his publisher, Jimmy Franco, senior director of publicity at Grand Central Publishing. "Yes, it is true and very sad indeed." Franco added that he did not have a statement to share at this time.

After an uneven 2025 season for Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and the Eagles’ offense as a whole, Philadelphia traded Brown to the Patriots for a pair of future draft picks. The blockbuster move came amid signs that Hurts’ once-close friendship between the franchise quarterback and star receiver had deteriorated.

While more than two months have passed since Brown's move to New England, questions about his relationship with Hurts have lingered. During the Patriots’ recent joint practices with the Eagles, Brown offered a one-word response when asked whether he had spoken with Hurts since the trade.

"No," Brown told reporters.

While Hurts has largely avoided discussing the state of his relationship with Brown, he took a different approach this week during a sit-down interview with GQ. "There's no surprise that it was talked about," Hurts told the magazine when asked whether he and Brown had remained close, acknowledging the shift in the relationship.

Hurts, the MVP of Super Bowl LIX, then effectively confirmed Brown's comments from last month, saying, "I mean, clearly," Hurts noted.

In June, Brown said no single incident had sparked the rift between the two former Eagles teammates.

Brown owns the two highest single-season receiving yardage totals in Eagles history: 1,496 yards in 2022 and 1,456 in 2023. The Eagles won the franchise’s second Vince Lombardi Trophy the following season, despite some drama involving Brown.

While Brown expressed gratitude for his time in the City of Brotherly Love, he said he's turned his attention to a new season with a new team.

Justin Tucker was among three kickers who worked out for the New York Jets on Wednesday, according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty also participated in the workout.

Tucker, who is widely considered the greatest kicker in NFL history, has not played since the 2024 season. Last season, Tucker did not sign with a team after serving a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

In January 2025, The Baltimore Banner reported that 16 female massage therapists had accused Tucker of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior during sessions between 2012 and 2016 at eight spas in and around Baltimore.

The Baltimore Ravens released Tucker in May of that year, after 13 seasons with the franchise.

Tucker was never criminally charged or sued civilly over the allegations. He has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Among the material cited by Tucker’s legal team was an email from one accuser who told Tucker it had been "a pleasure working with you" when he canceled his membership at one of the spas in 2016.

That information does not, by itself, prove Tucker’s innocence.

The allegations prompted comparisons to those made against Deshaun Watson. Both cases involved allegations from multiple massage therapists. Watson faced allegations from more than two dozen women and ultimately settled 23 civil lawsuits. He received an 11-game suspension in 2022.

The difference is that the Browns believed Watson was still a franchise quarterback in his prime. The team was wrong. Watson has never returned to his previous level of play and has become one of the league’s most disappointing starting quarterbacks since.

Tucker’s situation is different. He is a kicker who turns 37 in November and is coming off the worst statistical season of his career. In 2024, he made only 73.3% of his field-goal attempts, a career low.

As usual, multiple statements can be true at once.

Tucker would have had a job last season after his suspension had he still been one of the best kickers in the league.
When last seen, he was still better than several kickers in the league.

In any case, NFL teams weigh a player’s baggage, even if unproven, against his performance. To this point, teams have not considered Tucker worth it.

Tucker worked out for the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, both of which opted not to sign him.

Three people were killed, and four others were injured in a shooting Wednesday in downtown Minneapolis. Three police officers were among those hurt, and the suspected gunman was among the dead, officials said.

Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) Sgt. Garrett Parten said at a news conference that it's unclear how the suspected gunman died.

MPD police officers were at the site of the shooting, which involved "multiple victims," the city said, including the three law enforcement officers.

Officers were shot in the shin and abdomen, sources told Fox News.

In a subsequent post, Walz thanked law enforcement for "working to ensure the safety of our neighbors" in the area.

"Minnesota is praying for our first responders," he wrote. Another states: "Pray for Minnesota."

The Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police acknowledged the injured officers in a social media post.

"Two Minneapolis officers were shot today answering the call downtown," the organization wrote. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved — the wounded, their families, and the officers still holding the line tonight."

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison called the shooting "horrifying."

"My deepest thoughts are with those killed and hurt, including the police officers injured," he said. "I pray for their quick recovery. I fully support responding law enforcement & my office will help in all the ways possible."

"I am praying for all the families impacted by this horrific act of violence," Omar said.

A Delta Air Lines flight returned to an airport within minutes of takeoff after the crew reported a medical emergency involving a pilot.

Delta Flight 1208 returned to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) shortly after departing for Orlando, Florida, because of a reported medical issue involving a pilot, the airline told Fox News Digital.

"The crew followed established procedures to return to MSP where the aircraft landed safely," Delta said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

"As safety comes first at Delta, we are focused on supporting the pilot and our customers to ensure onward travel."

The Boeing 757-300 was carrying 178 passengers and seven crew members on the Aug. 31 flight, according to a Delta spokesperson.

The plane took off at about 11:29 a.m., and the crew requested a return roughly four minutes later, according to FlightAware data.

"We need to return to the field," a crew member said in an air traffic control recording, according to reports. "Nature of the emergency: We have a potential pilot incapacitation. … We would like to return immediately."

The crew declared an emergency to receive priority handling from air traffic control, the Delta spokesperson said.

After landing safely in Minneapolis, Delta arranged for a new flight crew so that the flight could continue to Orlando.

A Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland to Fort Lauderdale declared a medical emergency a couple of weeks ago after four flight attendants developed headaches and nausea shortly before landing.

The pilots asked for emergency medical personnel to meet the Airbus A321 at the gate at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to air traffic control communications.

The aircraft landed without incident and emergency responders waiting at the airport.

There’s a reason football great Deion Sanders was known as "Primetime." Sanders epitomized his sobriquet with electric performances on "Monday Night Football" and in the playoffs.

But not every political candidate is ready for primetime.

The roadside is littered with political failures from both sides. Candidates are better suited for late-night public access in the suburbs.

Consider for a moment someone else who also wasn’t bad in primetime: former football star Herschel Walker. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982. But when Walker ran for the Senate in Georgia in 2024, his political acumen could barely qualify him for a political practice squad.

This year, Democrats trotted out political novice Graham Platner to try to defeat 30-year veteran Sen. Susan Collins, R-Man. But his Nazi-era tattoo and allegations of rape and sexual abuse revealed that Platner was more downtrodden than Down East.

So, how will some of this year’s political hopefuls fare?

Platner would have been the Democrats’ most controversial candidate of the 2026 Senate election cycle. But Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has eclipsed Platner.

El-Sayed is progressive. He holds extreme views and previously associated closely with left-wing influencer Hasan Piker.

During an appearance on Fox, El-Sayed compared Sharia law to canon law in the Catholic Church, pitched ditching the Second Amendment and somehow wound up discussing private parts.

El-Sayed’s performance scored headlines. But he also created headaches for Democrats. The party needs to hold the Michigan seat to flip the Senate. And El-Sayed is exactly what Republicans were looking for.

Since El-Sayed captured the Democratic nomination to face former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., Republicans hope to use him to nationalize the midterms. They want to portray El-Sayed as "what’s wrong" with the Democratic Party and why he’s not aligned with mainstream voters.

The GOP believes that message will trickle down to other Democratic candidates around the country.

In other words, could El-Sayed’s echo undercut Democratic candidates beyond the Wolverine State?

When campaigning, El-Sayed promoted polished policy positions.

"You deserve good health care," said El-Sayed. "You deserve protections at your job."

But when asked on Fox about boys playing sports with girls and sex changes for kids, his rhetoric devolved to this:

"Circumcision is surgery on a kid's ding-a-ling. So, you really want to bring that up? I just think you guys are really selective about how you guys want to talk about things," El-Sayed told Fox’s Jesse Watters.

Political consultants on both sides of the aisle will likely agree. If a candidate finds himself on national television using euphemisms for private parts and not discussing the war in Iran or the cost of groceries, something is wrong.

El-Sayed also backs Medicare-for-all and slavery reparations.

"I just think it's past time to have that conversation. That shouldn't be a crazy thing," said El-Sayed.

Republicans are clamoring to hear more from El-Sayed.

"It's common sense versus communist crazy. And don't believe my word. Listen to what El-Sayed says," House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain, R-Mich., told Fox Business.

El-Sayed’s association with Piker worries Democrats because Piker espouses antisemitic views.

"Those comments were dangerous, malicious and antisemitic and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone in the public square," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said.

But now El-Sayed is distancing himself from Piker.

"I got so much exposure and empowerment from the Jewish community," said El-Sayed at a rally. "Jewish people are a light unto the world."

But not everyone is buying it.

"His response was pathetic, and it did not answer the call," Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., one of the most pro-Israel Democrats in the House, said on Fox. "This is not a guy who any of us should embrace."

In fact, the campaign of Rogers went as far as to say that El-Sayed was making the case for their candidate.

President Trump recently escalated the trade war with Canada. He renamed Lake Ontario as "Lake America."

El-Sayed vanquished moderate Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., in the primary. With all of this tumult, one wonders if Democrats would feel better wrestling with the president over trade with Stevens as their nominee versus El-Sayed.

That said, politics is a funny thing.

This doesn’t mean that El-Sayed is unelectable. Progressives throb with energy inside the Democratic Party right now. Someone like El-Sayed could actually bolster turnout among the left. This could work to the Democrats’ advantage if Republicans stay home because they’re disappointed in President Trump.

Or, as House Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Ted Lieu, D-Calif., told voters this week, "Just go fu----- vote."

On the Republican side of the aisle, few had heard of Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., until brother Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., died unexpectedly. Republican South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster quickly appointed Darline to her brother’s seat and cajoled her to run for the full term.

Darline Graham was a political neophyte. And despite President Trump tapping her for the permanent gig, it was far from clear that she was ready for primetime. During a debate in the GOP primary runoff with Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., Graham stumbled when asked about U.S. interests regarding Taiwan.

"I’m not that informed on national security," said Graham. "But I do support the military."

Of course, foreign policy was her brother’s forte. He died just after jetting back to Washington after meetings in Turkey and Ukraine.

But Darline Graham used the gaffe to pivot. She claimed that voters are more concerned with kitchen table issues.

"You know how many (people) brought up Taiwan or national security?" Graham said when stumping. "Not one. They're talking about the rising cost of health care and affordability."

A reporter pressed Graham for details about harnessing inflation.

"Is there something from you, affirmatively (could do like) a piece of legislation, to help drive down the cost of goods?" a scribe asked.

"We'll see when I get there," Graham replied.

Well, Graham is already "here." She’s been in the Senate since mid-July. Some voters could interpret that response as another blunder, perhaps one better suited for Saturday afternoon syndication compared to primetime.

Norman homed in on economics.

"Prices are still too high. Groceries. Gas," said Norman. "(Voters are) feeling it in their pocketbooks."

Darline Graham vanquished Norman in the primary. And barring a major upset by Democratic South Carolina Senate nominee Annie Andrews, Graham is poised to win a full six-year term in the Senate in November.

That’s primetime. Ready or not.

Emmitt Smith accused of conning Native American investor out of $2.5M in solar farm deal

Emmitt Smith, the Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, has been accused of conning a Native American investor out of $2.5 million, a lawsuit filed in Delaware on Monday read.

The lawsuit states that Kituwah LLC, an investment and economic development sector of the Band of Cherokee Indians, loaned $2.5 million after being convinced to join an alleged solar project by Smith, his business partner David Mosley, and 413 Solutions, Inc. – their real estate company, per Front Office Sports.

Kituwah claims that it has not seen "a penny" from the loan, which is more than two years past due. It also alleged that their money loaned was used to pay back a separate company that previously invested in the project.

Project Exodus solar farm was the name of the venture that Kituwah invested in with the understanding it would be named a partner. It alleged the U.S. Department of Energy would be funding the project as well.

Kituwah LLC is seeking at least $2.5 million in damages as well as interest, costs, expenses, and anything else determined during a trial.

"Kituwah poured substantial time, efforts, and resources in the purported joint venture," the suit states. "Not only has Kituwah not seen any returns on its investment, Kituwah has been forced to expend additional costs in efforts to reclaim the amounts it is still owed pursuant to its investment, including to investigate what happened to its money."

Kituwah went as far as to say it was "essentially, like a Ponzi scheme," claiming that "false projections and data" were given to them as they made the loan. They also claim that the loan was supposed to be paid back "in a matter of months."

Kituwah said it did an investigation, finding that the money went to Wilson Holdings, which Smith and the other defendants in the lawsuit have partnered with on separate investments.

Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, tallying 18,355 yards on the ground during his Hall of Fame career, which mostly was spent with the Dallas Cowboys. Smith won three Super Bowls with the franchise across 13 seasons, while playing his final two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Blue state creates six-figure role for trans inmate services amid budget shortfalls

The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) hired a gender-affirming care coordinator last month, and the job will pay between $78,000 and $115,000 annually.

The job includes oversight of a program for "managing and monitoring needs and safety risks of transgender, intersex and non-binary adults in custody," according to the listing. The position also chairs a multidisciplinary team focused on their individualized needs.

The role, which comes as the DOC is projected to have a $55 million deficit in 2026, continues gender-related initiatives spearheaded by Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, a longtime champion of the trans community, as she pursues re-election to a second term.

It also highlights the logistical difficulties associated with trans prisoners.

After a 2023 review of Oregon’s only women-only prison, the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, Kotek said her administration would look for ways to address what the report called delayed care for its cisgender and trans inmates.

"Transgender residents [are] being denied or delayed access to needed care, including hormone replacement therapy. This creates significant medical and mental health issues for some residents, including gender dysphoria," the report stated.

The report included one example of a transgender resident at the Coffee Creek who said her request for continuing her hormone blocker treatment had gone unheeded.

"I had been accessing prescriptions at the county. I did not get it when I got here. … I sent several [requests], but they kept bumping me to different places. Now I’ve gotten my period twice. It’s been terrorizing and humiliating," the resident, a biological woman, said.

Kotek promised to address issues raised by the report.

"In the wake of national, systemic shortcomings in meeting the needs of women who are incarcerated, I am resolved to confront these issues head-on," Kotek said in a press release.

"The GIPA report was sobering to read. It is incumbent on Oregon’s corrections system to ensure that the use of carceral settings yield the best possible public safety outcomes and sets people up for successful re-entry."

As a part of the response, her office created the Advisory Panel on Gender Responsive Practices in Corrections.

In turn, the panel recommended training staff who make decisions about housing and medical and behavioral care for the needs of transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse inmates.

The panel did not specifically recommend the gender-affirming care coordinator position.

The role is similar to a position that would have been established through SB 1120, a failed bill. Among other provisions, that law would have created a role tasked to "provide coordination of efforts and training across staff and adults in custody on best practices for supporting transgender, nonbinary or gender-diverse adults in custody."

The hire clashes with Kotek's instruction to agencies to reduce spending. In 2025, when Republicans in Washington, D.C., passed tax cuts through President Donald Trump's "big beautiful bill," Oregon's tax picture also changed.

The state's tax code mirrors many of the definitions of taxable income used by the federal government. When those definitions shrank, so did Oregon's revenue, leaving the state with a negative general fund balance of $373.7 million, according to state reports.

"This is not what we had planned for, but it is what we must do. I am asking you to leave no stone unturned to save tax-payer dollars. This challenge is not unique to Oregon, but how we respond will be. Our resilience, teamwork and determination have carried us through hard times before. They will again," Kotek wrote in a letter to state department heads.

Like other departments, the DOC was also affected, reporting a projected $55 million deficit. To remedy this, the department was instructed to slow operational spending, prepare for operational cost reductions and suspend non-essential out-of-state travel.

Even so, Kotek has highlighted trans care as a priority, strongly advocating for a government-led approach to expanding access to trans procedures, calling them part of "health care."

"I want to be very clear. Gender-affirming care is health care. Period, end of story," Kotek said at a bill signing in 2023 after the legislature passed a reproductive and gender-affirming care package.

She has also pushed back against attempts from the Trump administration to limit federal funding for hospitals that provide transgender procedures to minors.

"The Trump administration cannot change the rules and restrict funding to hospitals and doctors who provide gender-affirming care to young people. Vice President JD Vance’s mom, Beverly Vance Aikins, says she’d like to clock Michigan Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed after his repeated attacks on the second family.

"I'd probably punch the guy if I ever seen him, and then that would get me in trouble. So, I'll just go with the flow," Aikins told Outkick and Fox News host Tomi Lahren when asked how she felt about El-Sayed’s crude comments.

Aikins sat down with Lahren for a wide-ranging interview about her triumph over opioid addiction, Netflix’s "Hillbilly Elegy" and her son’s rise to the vice presidency.

She made the comments after El-Sayed has repeatedly taken aim at Vance and his family.

El-Sayed made comments about second lady Usha Vance and the Vance children during an April appearance on "The Allen Analysis Show," clips of which have recently resurfaced.

"I think they're jealous, honestly. I mean, JD is 42 years old. He's handsome. He's the vice president of the United States," Aikins said.

The Michigan socialist said he hopes Vance’s kids grow up to "undo" the vice president’s politics.

NYPD searches for suspect who threw furniture at 90-year-old woman on sidewalk

Police are searching for a suspect after a 90-year-old woman was attacked while walking along a Brooklyn sidewalk earlier this week, and surveillance video obtained by a local news station appears to capture the violent encounter.

The assault happened around 9:47 a.m. Monday outside 501 Brighton Beach Ave. in the Brighton Beach neighborhood, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Police said the woman was walking when an unidentified man approached and threw a piece of furniture at her, causing her to fall to the ground before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

The impact knocks the woman to the pavement as the suspect appears to calmly continue walking away.

Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police have not identified a motive for the attack, and it was not immediately clear whether the suspect and victim knew each other.

German-Palestinian-American filmmaker Lexi Alexander pushed an X post appearing to cheer the death of Bank of America executive Erin Piacenti Tuesday, referencing accused UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione.

Piacenti was identified as the victim of a deadly stabbing in New York City’s Times Square Monday, when a woman carrying a knife also wounded another person before police shot and killed the suspect.

Piacenti was in her first week back at Bank of America after spending five months caring for her newborn daughter.

In response to the news, Alexander, who directed the 2005 drama "Green Street Hooligans" and the 2008 film "Punisher: War Zone," reposted a headline of the report alongside an image of Batman staring up at a bat signal that was replaced with Mangione's face.

The post has since been labeled as containing "sensitive content," though it is still available on her account.

In another X post, Alexander retweeted a woman saying she "didn't care" about Piacenti's death and faced death threats from "Zionists" as a result.

Journalist and New York Post contributor Douglas Murray remarked on the rise of Americans, particularly far-left Americans, justifying violence after the killings of Thompson and Charlie Kirk during an appearance on "America’s Newsroom" in 2025.

Shields stretched out on a wooden swim platform attached to a boat while wearing the same black one-piece. Handler, 51, sat nearby in a turquoise swimsuit, while another woman smiled from the water in a red bikini top and patterned bottoms.

The longtime friends appeared to make the most of their time together throughout the trip.

Shields and Handler have been friends for years. The two previously appeared on each other's podcasts and spoke candidly about their lives and relationships.

Away from the water, Shields traded her swimsuit for a bright yellow dress while exploring Croatia with Handler.

The "Pretty Baby" star paired the loose-fitting dress with a wide-brimmed straw hat, layered necklaces and a brown belt. Handler stood beside her in a white button-down shirt, patterned skirt, navy baseball cap and dark sunglasses as the two smiled for the camera on a busy street.

Shields wasn't afraid to get adventurous during the getaway either.

In a video included in the carousel, she jumped from the edge of a rushing waterfall into the water below while wearing her black one-piece.

Fans filled the comments with praise for both Shields and her picturesque destination.

The carefree vacation comes months after Shields reflected on the work she has done to remain grounded after spending virtually her entire life in the public eye.

During a July 2026 conversation with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah Daily, Shields spoke about navigating fame since beginning her modeling career as a baby.

"You either become a victim to it, and you resent it, and then you get angry, and you get bitter," Shields said, "or you say, ‘OK, how can I not be devoured by this? How can I surround myself with people who are grounded?’"

Shields said maintaining that sense of normalcy became particularly important when she became a mother to daughters Rowan and Grier with husband Chris Henchy.

"How can I stay as grounded as possible to be the kind of mom for my daughters that it would very easily be derailed in this industry?" she told Winfrey.

Shields' own relationship with her mother, Teri, was far more complicated. Teri raised Shields as a single mother and managed her career from childhood. Shields told Winfrey the two became so intertwined that there was little room for her to develop an independent identity.

"There was so much love, but then you couple that with the industry that we were in," Shields said. "She protected me fiercely."

The actress also reflected on how years of therapy have helped her distinguish her own voice from the influence of her late mother and longtime manager.

"Luckily, I hear — I’ve worked so hard on myself — to hear my own voice in my head first," Shields said. "And that’s years of working on it and therapy and thinking about it and talking about it and making myself sort of freer from this."

DHS boss reveals Oval Office plan to 'withhold funding' from sanctuary cities after aggressive New York bust

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Tuesday the White House is exploring legal ways to withhold federal funding from sanctuary states and cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement.

Speaking on "The Ingraham Angle," Mullin highlighted the arrests of more than 2,100 illegal immigrants in New York and said Immigration and Customs Enforcement will continue deportations despite local sanctuary restrictions.

"Literally 20 minutes ago, I was sitting in the Oval Office of the president, and we were having this conversation about how do we withhold funding legally from these sanctuary cities," Mullin told host Laura Ingraham.

"Why are we allowing these sanctuary cities to still get funding from the federal government when it comes to, let's say, their airport, when we're processing immigration through these international airports? Why would we be processing immigration policies and immigrants into our state or into a city that is a sanctuary state or sanctuary city? It doesn't make any sense to me."

DHS has launched several deportation operations since President Donald Trump began his second term, most recently in New York with an operation dubbed Rotten Apple. Mullin said the operation resulted in more than 2,100 arrests, including people accused of murder, rape, child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.

The DHS secretary told Fox News Trump and administration officials are looking at ways to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

"President Trump is looking for ways. He had other people that were in the Oval Office with me talking about how can we hold federal funding from these sanctuary cities that are refusing to just simply do one thing: uphold the law of the land," Mullin said, adding that he and immigration agents "don’t pick and choose which laws to enforce."

"I enforce the laws that Congress passed. But Congress and these other liberal politicians, these sanctuary cities and sanctuary states are the ones that are griping the loudest about the work that my [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents are doing every day," he added.

According to DHS, one of the illegal immigrants arrested during the New York operation was a Ukrainian national with convictions for kidnapping, abduction resulting in death, criminal possession of a weapon and murder. DHS said another suspect from Colombia had previously been arrested for "course of sexual conduct against a child" and acting "in a manner to injure a child less than 17."

George Kittle, Nick Bosa make the flight as 49ers head to Australia for historic opener: reports

The San Francisco 49ers are on their way to Australia to participate in the first-ever NFL game on the continent against their NFC West foe, the Los Angeles Rams, to kick off the 2026 season.

And two specific passengers have fans hopeful heading into next week’s matchup down under.

Tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa, two very important pieces of Kyle Shanahan’s roster, made the trip with the rest of the team, according to multiple reports.

This is encouraging considering both have been dealing with their own recovery from injury.

Kittle suffered a torn Achilles in the Wild Card Round against the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 11, while Bosa tore his ACL in Week 3 last season. Bosa, specifically, has been battling tendinitis for most of the 49ers’ training camp.

Camp has not been at all pleasant for the 49ers in terms of depth, as multiple players have been dealing with injury, including new wide receiver Mike Evans and fullback Kyle Juszczyk on top of Kittle and Bosa. San Fran also lost wide receiver Ricky Pearsall to a PCL injury.

But with Kittle and Bosa heading out to Australia, it could mean that reinforcements are on the way to start the regular season.

"I would assume so," Kittle said last month when asked if traveling to Australia would indicate whether or not he’s playing in the game. "I mean, that probably makes the most sense. I would assume."

After practicing on Wednesday, the 49ers took flight to Australia, where they’re expected to land on Friday due to the 17-hour time difference. It’s that time difference that the 49ers are making sure players get accustomed to it before they take on the Rams on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET.

For both teams, it will actually be Friday morning at 10:35 a.m. That’s when kickoff will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In the days leading up to it, the availability of Kittle, Bosa and the rest of the 49ers should become clear as they hold practices and gear up for a team many believe are Super Bowl favorites this season. The Rams returned MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford, though nobody saw Aaron Donald coming out of retirement to join Myles Garrett on the defensive line after the Defensive Player of the Year was traded for with the Cleveland Browns.
