Sinaloa Cartel boss 'El Mayo' sentenced to life, ordered to pay $15B in drug trafficking profits

Sinaloa Cartel co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada Garcia, of Mexico, was sentenced on Monday to life in a U.S. prison and ordered to forfeit $15 billion in drug trafficking profits, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan said that while he had no choice but to give a life sentence since the charges carried a mandatory term of life imprisonment, he believed it was the right punishment.

"The almost unimaginable amount of drugs attributable to him and the number of murders that we can document is enough to justify Congress's decision to make this a mandatory life sentence," the judge said.

He is one of the most high-profile Mexican drug traffickers to be sentenced by a U.S. judge since fellow Sinaloa leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was sentenced to life in prison in 2019.

Garcia, 76, agreed to plead guilty in August 2025 to multiple charges, including racketeering conspiracy and continuing criminal enterprise, after the DOJ said it would not pursue the death penalty.

He was arrested in July 2024 alongside Joaquin Guzman Lopez, one of Guzman's sons, after their plane landed in the U.S. Guzman Lopez has since pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including drug trafficking and a July 2024 kidnapping.

Joseph Nocella, a federal prosecutor, told reporters after Garcia's sentencing that Guzman Lopez had admitted to kidnapping Garcia in an attempt to secure leniency and credit from U.S. law enforcement.

"The United States made perfectly clear that we do not condone kidnapping and that he would receive no credit," Nocella said.

Guzman Lopez has not yet been sentenced.

Garcia told the court during his sentencing on Monday that he took responsibility for the harm he had caused.

"No one wins in a war like this. To the next generation, I say, choose a different path," he said.

Cogan suggested that Garcia be placed in a facility where he would receive adequate medical care since he was suffering from several progressive health ailments.

"Ismael Zambada Garcia spent nearly four decades poisoning American communities to make billions of dollars in profit and ordering the murders of anyone who stood in his way. Today, that chapter closes for good," Nocella said in a statement.

"He will spend the rest of his life in a U.S. prison, exactly where he belongs," he added. This sentence was made possible by the tireless bilateral cooperation between U.S. and Mexican law enforcement, who refused to let El Mayo's years of evading justice become a permanent state of affairs. We hope that today's sentence brings some measure of justice to the countless victims of the Sinaloa Cartel's narcotics trafficking and violence."

Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed took a swipe at CNN over what he suggests are uncomfortable appearances he has had on the network.

"I go on CNN every once in a while and I get a non-consensual colonoscopy," El-Sayed quipped at a rally in Grand Rapids on Sunday, sparking laughs from the crowd.

"And then, all they ask me about is another country, and they're like, 'All he's ever talking about is another country.' No! I just want everybody to understand that there's an opportunity cost to the money being sent over there, and that is what we could have over here," he continued.

"Why were you worried about people who supported the ayatollah?" Tapper asked.

El-Sayed largely sidestepped the question, insisting he didn't want to comment because of the "ridiculous pretext," instead putting focus on the three U.S. servicemembers who were killed by Iranian strikes in Jordan over the weekend.

"Look, let's have a conversation based in Michigan. I'm running for Senate in Michigan. And I think here in Michigan, all of us are probably sad about the fact that we went to a war that we never should have fought. I'd rather our money be spent here," El-Sayed told Tapper.

"I was specifically asking you about comments you didn't want to make because you didn't want to offend people in Dearborn, which is in Michigan," Tapper replied before moving on to another topic.

El-Sayed, who has earned the endorsement of far-left progressives like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is currently running in a combative Democratic primary against Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens. Both Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez joined him at Sunday's campaign rally.

Controversial internet personality Braden Peters, known online as Clavicular, explained the goals behind his "looksmaxxing" movement, as the dangerous health regimen gains popularity among young men.

"Looksmaxxing is the most well-rounded form of self-improvement, just almost taking it to its logical conclusion," Clavicular said in a new episode of "Hang Out with Sean Hannity."

The looksmaxxing movement championed by the 20-year-old livestreamer has surged in popularity among Generation Z and Generation Alpha.

The strict health regimen is meant to maximize your appearance and includes practices such as taking stimulants and bone smashing , which Clavicular describes as striking your facial bones with a hammer in an effort to stimulate bone growth.

Medical experts have warned against the practice because of the risk of serious injury.

"[Looksmaxxing is] gonna include just traditional bodybuilding and fitness style stuff, as well as a new focus on sort of facial esthetics," he said.

Clavicular is best known for his hours-long livestreams on Kick, where he is filmed in a candid setting socializing at nightclubs. Clips from those outings, in which he uses pickup lines to attract women, frequently go viral online and amass millions of views.

"Going to the clubs, it shows the very nature of hypergamy and kind of the reasoning behind the whole philosophy of looksmaxxing, why it's important," Clavicular said.

The streamer’s interactions with young women have stirred up controversy about his insolent treatment of women. He was arrested in March on a battery charge which involved him allegedly instigating a fight between two woman and posting the video to social media.

Many members of Generation Z and Generation Alpha have adopted Clavicular’s controversial looksmaxxing techniques in hopes of improving their appearance, but critics have expressed concern about the streamer’s growing influence on younger audiences.

Fox News host Sean Hannity questioned him about what his intentions are in posting videos promoting looksmaxxing.

"The more content that I do, it kind of displays that and puts an emphasis on, like, you really need to prioritize looking better and starting to look max," he said.

The influencer explained that looksmaxxing is not solely intended to get girls and argued attractive physical appearances improve "every single micro interaction in your life."

"If they're not good-looking they're not going to get the job," he said, arguing that one must be physically attractive to obtain work.

But after choosing to skip the team’s upcoming July 23 White House visit celebrating their 2026 World Series title, the utility veteran found himself at the center of a heated political debate.

Rather than tossing the hate mail in the trash, Hernández posted a photo of the letter, along with Larry’s unredacted return address, to his 1.5 million social media followers.

"SO to Larry for the nice letter!" Hernández captioned the post. "Next time, at least make it handwritten, you nice sir!"

Hernández isn't the only Dodger opting out of the Washington trip.

While Hernández did attend the team's White House visit in April 2025 following their 2024 championship, he later indicated he regretted the experience.

Colorado socialist candidate Melat Kiros pushed more immigrants with "heritage in the global south" to enter office and push back against the "exploitative and extractive" nature of the United States last week.

Kiros took part in the Wa’Ela Tigrai event in Denver, Colorado, last weekend and discussed her rising congressional campaign after defeating longtime incumbent Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., during a Democratic primary last month.

Drawing on the experiences of House "Squad" members like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Kiros spoke about the importance of helping others to achieve after her for the sake of changing the global world order. One way, she argued, was pushing people who understand American exploitation "on a fundamental level."

She continued, "And that means getting more immigrants into office. That means getting more people who have heritage in the global south into office because that's where those decisions are made specifically."

"When I was in law school, I tell everybody that was where I learned that the system is not broken, that it's actually working exactly as it was designed to. And that really kind of broke my spirit a little bit and made me believe there's really nothing to be done, which is why I went to a big law firm in the first place and just wanted to retire and take care of my parents and call it a day. But that's no way to live, right? At the end of the day, the spirit of our people, the spirit of our community and our culture is to fight and to never give up," Kiros said.

Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) were preparing to question a British zoologist and disease ecology expert upon his return to the United States from the World Health Organization’s investigation into the origins of COVID-19, before the FBI intervened and asked agents to stand down, according to files released Monday by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

"They told the public a COVID lab leak 'wasn’t plausible,'" Rand wrote on X. "Their own private messages say otherwise. Today I’m launching The Reading Room where the public can review records related to my ongoing investigation – not just conclusions but the actual documents."

The documents show CBP’s National Targeting Center flagged Peter Daszak as "a high person of interest" ahead of his Feb. 5, 2021, arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Daszak, the former president of EcoHealth Alliance, was flagged because of more than 15 years of collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and his longstanding relationship with its lead researcher, Zhengli Shi, as well as his role as principal investigator on National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants funding bat coronavirus research in China.

Much of the funding Daszak received was put toward gain-of-function research, the documents state.

The documents highlight that the NIH had asked Daszak to retrieve the original type-specimen used by WIV for genetic analysis and return it to the U.S., as well as to explain several aspects of his collaboration with the lab, including providing related cell phone data.

CBP officials planned to question Daszak on his activities in China, his contacts at the WIV, and whether he illegally collected or carried biological samples.

Internal communications highlighted concerns regarding Daszak’s involvement in gain-of-function research and potential conflicts of interest involving federal grants.

However, three days before his arrival in New York, CBP received a request from the FBI’s New York Field Office to halt the stop, and the inspection never happened.

"FBI New York requested we do not stop the subject below," the request states, according to the documents.

The records include detailed flight itineraries, proposed interrogation questions, and internal emails documenting the interagency disagreement over the search.

"This isn't the whole story. It's the start of one," Paul wrote in a lengthy thread on X. "The Reading Room will be updated on a rolling basis as the investigation continues."

At the time of the planned interception, Daszak headed the now-defunct EcoHealth Alliance, an American-based nonprofit that conducted research and outreach on the causes of emerging pandemic diseases, such as those originating in bats.

He was a member of the 10-person WHO team that traveled to China to investigate the origins of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Daszak had received public criticism regarding a potential conflict of interest for being included on the WHO investigative team despite his financial and professional ties to WIV.

Daszak now heads Nature Health Global, a non-profit scientific organization focused on ecological research, public health, and pandemic prevention.

Speaker Mike Johnson's latest bid to skirt Democrats’ opposition to an election integrity bill backed by President Donald Trump survived a key hurdle on Monday evening.

The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act has faced significant headwinds in Congress despite having Trump’s full-throated support. While it passed the House, the legislation has struggled in the Senate where at least several Democratic votes are needed to break a filibuster and advance to final passage.

But the new plan by Johnson, R-La., which would allow key parts of the bill to skirt Democrats entirely, is one step closer to getting a House-wide vote sometime this week.

TRUMP INTERVENES AS HOUSE GOP REVOLT PUTS SAVE AMERICA ACT AT CENTER OF SPENDING SHOWDOWN

Republicans would erase the need for any Democratic buy-in by putting key elements of the SAVE America Act into a larger budget reconciliation bill. The reconciliation process allows the party in power to pass sweeping fiscal policy reforms without input from their opposition by lowering the Senate’s threshold for passage to line up with the House’s simple majority requirement.

But there are strict guidelines for what can be in a reconciliation bill. Such legislation must deal with yearly federal spending and revenues, meaning issues that do not directly affect fiscal policy are generally excluded.

House Republicans are aiming to use this reconciliation bill to fund states’ election integrity efforts, replenish military funding amid the U.S. war with Iran, and dole out aid to American farmers.

In total, the legislation would set the stage for $95 billion in new federal spending across the next 10 years.

The first chamber-wide step in the reconciliation process is to pass a framework that directs the relevant committees to then craft details dealing with their allocated budgets. Those details are then put back into a single sweeping bill that must pass the House and Senate before getting to Trump’s desk for his signature.

Passing the House Rules Committee means the bill will see a chamber-wide test vote that, if adopted, will set the stage for lawmakers to debate the bill before a final vote.

That vote is expected to occur Tuesday afternoon, with the final vote taking place the following day at 3:30 p.m., according to a preliminary schedule obtained by Fox News Digital.

Trump urged Republicans to advance the bill earlier Monday, arguing it would "get AS MUCH of THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as possible in a Budget Bill, along with aid to our incredible Farmers, and funding for our Military."

Democrats, meanwhile, have accused Republicans of trying to unfairly sway elections with their SAVE America Act push.

"This is a phony issue that Donald Trump is creating. What's amazing to me is that Donald Trump had the nerve to say to the Speaker of the House, who apparently didn't object, that the most important thing that Republicans should focus on is voter suppression legislation, and that housing doesn't matter, healthcare doesn't matter, grocery bills don't matter," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said earlier this year.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has repeatedly referred to the legislation as "Jim Crow 2.0."

"While the specific policies may have changed since the days of the Jim Crow South, the goal of the SAVE Act is the same: disenfranchising American citizens and making it harder for eligible people to vote, particularly low income Americans and people of color," he said in February.

Republicans argue that the SAVE America Act — which would implement federal voter ID requirements and a proof of citizenship mandate in the voter registration process — would make American elections safer and more secure.

"Socialism has not worked anywhere on the globe," former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday in an interview on Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria." "Promises of free lunch, free buses, free bread, free everything. There’s no such thing as free. Someone always pays. This is a dream. This is nirvana. This is utopia. And they’re selling to young people who are buying it. It’s not going to work."

The victories by a trio of far-left congressional candidates in New York City heavily supported by Mamdani, followed a week later by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)-backed challenger and first-time candidate Melat Kiros' defeat of 15-term Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado, have emboldened progressives as they wage a far-left national pressure campaign against the Democratic Party.

"Only socialism can solve decades of capitalist mismanagement in the US. Our newly elected leaders will fight for the working class — not for crumbs," the DSA proclaimed in a social media post celebrating the string of primary election victories.

That view is far from universal.

"I'm tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas," Democratic political analyst Van Jones, a veteran of then-President Barack Obama's administration, lamented in a social media post.

"Supporting Hamas is not progressive. ‘No police, no prisons, no borders’ is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE," Jones wrote.

Jamie Metzl, a technology and healthcare futurist who years ago served in former President Bill Clinton's administration, said in a Fox News Channel interview that it's time for Democrats "to stand up" to what he called "the bigots and anti-Americans in our own party."

Metzl said the DSA and other far-left groups "who are trying to take control of our party and our brand" represent "a fundamental threat to our party and our country."

Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, another progressive rockstar, parachuted into Michigan's campaign trail this past weekend to boost Abdul El-Sayed, the far-left candidate they're supporting in a crucial Democratic Senate primary.

El-Sayed, a former Wayne County Health Department director who unsuccessfully ran an insurgent campaign for governor in 2018, is facing off for the party's nomination in the Great Lakes battleground state against Rep. Haley Stevens, a more moderate lawmaker backed by longtime Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer and the establishment.

The winner of the Aug. 4 Democratic primary will take on former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers, who is on a glide path to the GOP nomination, in the key midterm Senate faceoff to succeed retiring Democratic Sen. Gary Peters.

The rare open Senate seat is a top Republican target in the midterms, as well as a must-hold for the Democrats as they aim to win back the Senate majority from the GOP, which currently controls the chamber with a slim 53-47 margin.

El-Sayed, who, if elected, would make history as the nation's first Muslim senator, has made support for Medicare for all a major component of his campaign.

The far-left candidate has also called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and is a vocal critic of Israel amid its war with Hamas — even characterizing Israel's actions in Gaza as "genocide" against Palestinians. And El-Sayed, who served as a top surrogate on Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign, has vowed not to accept PAC donations.

Schumer and the party establishment view Stevens as more electable than El-Sayed, who has sparked controversy with his past comments. They worry that El-Sayed as the party's nominee would jeopardize the Democrat-controlled Senate seat by pushing the party too far to the left in a state that President Donald Trump carried two years ago by just over one percentage point.

The primary clash is combustible and expensive, with outside groups spending big bucks to flood the campaign trail with ads. The biggest spending, to boost Stevens and attack El-Sayed, is United Democracy Project, a political action committee aligned with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

"I think we're at an opportunity to show folks where the Democratic Party ought to go. Whether or not there are people who oppose that, that's for them to decide. But if you're opposing that on behalf of big corporations, folks like AIPAC, you're going to find that their power is going to start to slip," El-Sayed warned in a Fox News interview on Sunday.

Sanders, speaking alongside El-Sayed and Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday, argued, "In all due respect to Haley Stevens, everyone knows that this is not an election between her and Abdul El-Sayed. This is an election between Abdul and the billionaire class."

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a vocal critic of the far left and a top Democratic supporter of Israel, fired back in a Fox News Channel interview.

"You know, humble yourself, Bernie. You know, you just pushed an accused rapist and imploded up in Maine and now you’re pushing, you know, essentially a pro-Hamas candidate that’s been anti-American and deeply anti-Israel," Fetterman said as he pointed to Sanders' support over the past year for now-ex-Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner of Maine.

Platner ended his campaign earlier this month, amid calls from top Democrats in Maine and across the country to immediately exit the race following an explosive report containing an allegation of rape from a woman he previously dated. Platner denied the report but stepped aside.

One week after the showdown in Michigan, on Aug. 11, Wisconsin will hold its primary elections. That's where DSA-backed state Rep. Francesca Hong is on the rise among a crowded field of candidates in the race to succeed retiring Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.

"It’s a great day to be a democratic socialist," Hong posted on X last month after the progressive victories in New York City, in which two Democratic congressional incumbents lost renomination. "Wisconsin is next!"

The same day, another statewide battle will take place as progressive Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan of Minnesota and more moderate Democratic Rep. Angie Craig are the leading contenders in the Democratic primary faceoff to succeed retiring Sen. Tina Smith, a fellow Democrat.

While the upcoming primary battles will impact the fight for the future of the party, there's a more immediate concern: this year's midterm faceoff for congressional majorities.

"What you’re seeing here are the two opposing forces of the Democratic Party," veteran Democratic strategist Joe Caiazzo told Fox News Digital as he referred to the ballot box showdowns. "The stakes are monumentally high because Democrats have to hold these seats in November."

FIRST ON FOX: Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., is asking the Federal Communications Commission to review ABC, NBC and CBS' broadcast decisions after the networks either declined to air live or cut away from President Donald Trump's July 16 primetime address.

In a letter first obtained by Fox News Digital and sent Monday, Carter asked FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to review whether the networks violated their obligation to "serve the public interest" and whether their actions should be considered in future broadcast license proceedings.

"The public airwaves should inform the American people, not be used by corporate executives to decide which matters of national importance they are permitted to hear," Carter wrote.

Carter raised "serious concerns" in the letter, saying networks can disagree with President Trump's remarks while still airing what he says.

"Broadcasters may criticize, analyze, or fact-check the President's statements," he wrote. "However, refusing to air a major presidential address because executives disagree with its content raises serious concerns that they intended to keep Americans in the dark about potential foreign interference in our elections."

Carter also argued that Americans should have been allowed to make up their own minds.

"Regardless of political affiliation, the American people deserved to hear this information directly from their President and judge it for themselves," Carter wrote. "Instead, ABC and NBC declined to broadcast the speech on their primary television networks, while CBS cut away before the President completed his remarks."

Carter added that airing the speech on streaming services was not an "adequate substitute for free, over-the-air television—particularly for Americans without reliable broadband access."

The letter follows President Trump's Thursday night primetime address, during which he called for ABC and NBC's broadcast licenses to be revoked, accusing the networks of being part of a "plot" to "continue this fraud" and "protect the radical left."

"In a rare move, NBC and ABC fake news have both said that they would not cover this speech," President Trump said. "They knew what it was about because they don't like the topic, because they know how corrupt our system is and they don't want to reveal it."

President Trump used the more than 20-minute address to announce the "immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence" documents he said revealed "shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure."

"America is back and doing really well, but we still have a major challenge that must be urgently addressed, because no country can be great without fair and honest elections," President Trump said. "You have to trust your country, because if there can be no trust, there can be no greatness. And that's very simple. No trust, no greatness."

ABC News and NBC News streamed President Trump's speech on their digital platforms before later airing special reports summarizing his remarks on their broadcast networks.

CBS News initially aired analysis before joining President Trump's speech several minutes after it began, then cut away after he criticized ABC and NBC.

Carter said the issues raised during Trump's address warranted live broadcast coverage, adding the "allegations concern both election integrity and national security.

One cannabis mistake at airport could bring 10 years in prison and $15,000 fine

Before heading overseas, American travelers are warned to double-check their bags for one item that could lead to hefty fines or even prison time.

U.S. officials are reminding travelers that bringing cannabis products across international borders remains illegal in many countries — following a new customs policy in Thailand that significantly increases penalties for violators.

In June 2026, Thailand introduced tougher penalties for travelers caught bringing cannabis across its borders. Violators can face up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to 500,000 Thai baht (about $15,000), or both, according to the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Thailand.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) for comment.

Although Thailand decriminalized cannabis possession in 2022, importing or exporting cannabis without the proper permissions remains illegal, the warning said.

Jeffrey Hoffman, a New York-based cannabis attorney, said travelers should never assume that laws at home apply once they cross an international border.

"While we are seeing cannabis laws relaxed in countries like Canada and in various states in the U.S., cannabis is still generally illegal across the overwhelming majority of the planet," Hoffman told Fox News Digital. "When you travel to a different jurisdiction, you become subject to its laws."

Hoffman, a legalization activist, pointed to the high-profile case of WNBA star Brittney Griner, who was imprisoned in Russia after authorities found cannabis oil in her luggage, as a reminder that some countries strictly enforce drug laws.

"There is no safe harbor when traveling internationally," he said. "Even a mistake is no excuse."

Travel expert and former flight attendant Bobby Laurie, based in the D.C. area, said many travelers mistakenly assume that if something is legal at home, it's automatically legal everywhere they go.

"Even if you're carrying a cannabis product for personal use or have a medical prescription, that doesn't guarantee it [will] be allowed at your destination," Laurie told Fox News Digital. "Some countries have extremely strict drug laws, and the penalties can be severe."

Laurie recommended checking local laws before every trip, plus emptying backpacks, purses and carry-ons of forgotten items. He said people should never assume customs officials will overlook a mistake.

Some countries have laws governing everyday items that many travelers would never expect, Laurie noted — pointing to Singapore's restrictions on chewing gum as a reminder to research destination-specific rules before packing.

"This is one of those things you wouldn't know unless you researched it, and how many of us walk around with that in our bags?" he said.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently updated its guidance for travelers carrying medical marijuana on domestic flights.

While the agency permits certain medical cannabis products under limited circumstances, experts emphasized that international travel is a different matter.

Crossing international borders with cannabis remains subject to the laws of the destination country, regardless of whether marijuana is legal where a traveler lives.

Winning an NBA championship in New York City comes with plenty of perks, but getting caught in the middle of a nightclub bottle fight usually isn't on the itinerary.

New York Knicks guard Jordan Clarkson learned that the hard way Saturday night after an evening at a Manhattan hotspot ended with an unexpected police escort.

Clarkson was attending a private party at Zero Bond, a members-only club in NoHo, hosted by Raising Cane's chief Todd Graves. The event drew athletes and celebrities following the Knicks' 2026 title run.

But the night turned chaotic after an altercation involving rapper Travis Scott. Scott confronted the individual, and the dispute quickly escalated when bottles were thrown during the confrontation.

Clarkson had no known connection to Scott's entourage or the initial argument.

Witnesses said the Knicks guard attempted to act as a peacemaker, putting himself between the clashing parties in an effort to de-escalate the fight.

When NYPD officers responded, Clarkson and Scott were both escorted from the club as authorities worked to clear the scene. There was no indication Clarkson was being treated as a suspect.

There is no indication Clarkson will face discipline from either the Knicks or the NBA, as his involvement was limited to trying to break up the altercation.

Spain’s World Cup Final hero, Ferran Torres, decided to celebrate the country’s victory on Monday with a nod to President Donald Trump.

As tens of thousands of Spaniards welcomed home their World Cup-winning team during a victory parade, Torres, who scored the winning goal in the 106th minute to beat Argentina at New York/New Jersey Stadium, was seen wearing a "Make Spain Great Again" hat – an adaptation of Trump’s "Make America Great Again" slogan.

Torres posted a picture with the mob of Spain faithful while on a vehicle, while donning the hat and no shirt.

While it could simply be a coincidence that Torres decided to choose that hat for his celebration fit, Trump did present the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodrí and the rest of the team on the pitch after their victory.

Trump had been taking in the suspenseful final , which Spain dominated throughout, alongside First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino, among others.

The match was on its way to a penalty shootout had it not been for Torres’ efforts to finally get one past Argentina’s stellar goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who needed to make miraculous saves just to keep the scoreboard deadlocked at zero apiece.

But when Nico Williams Jr.’s header was dropped back in the box following a cross, Torres had a grade-A chance to net the ball that landed right at his left foot. He didn’t disappoint.

"I think in the end the goal came from 47 million people [the estimated Spain population], not just those of us that are here," Torres told FIFA host broadcasters after the match, via ESPN. "Today destiny was written, it was made for us to win. We’re far from our people today but we tried to be as close as possible to them."

It was just the second time Spain had made it to the World Cup Final, but just as they did in 2010, they left with trophy in hand and were prepared to go celebrate with the masses back home.

When the final whistle blew on Sunday, there was some controversy, as brawls broke out on the pitch between Argentina and Spain players, which FIFA will be investigating.

But back home, especially in Madrid, the capital of Spain, it was a party that started late at night and hasn’t stopped since.

Trump admin taunts left for ‘praying’ for World Cup disaster as DOT touts record numbers

EXCLUSIVE: President Donald Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is claiming victory over the left after a successful FIFA World Cup tournament that saw record-shattering numbers of fans moving through the U.S.

Several million FIFA fans flocked to American stadiums this year, putting an enormous strain on federal, state and local transportation networks. However, aided in part by a more than a $100 million DOT infrastructure investment to World Cup host cities, the tournament went off without any major incidents, prompting Duffy to taunt doomsayers who predicted the country would fall on its face.

"The Left was praying for an American transit disaster as we hosted the most important international sporting event in modern history," Duffy told Fox News Digital.

"They were wrong, and President Trump was right."

Among the naysayers was Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., who in April accused the Trump administration of endangering FIFA fans by "systematically dismantling security agencies, delaying critical security assistance, and initiating a war with Iran." All this, Gallego said, made the country’s top security agency, the Department of Homeland Security, "woefully unprepared to accomplish its mission."

Gallego remarked that "if state and local officials do not trust that federal employees will coordinate in lockstep and operate as partners, they will be unable to protect their communities—increasing threat risk and compromising Americans’ safety in the process." He added that "this self-imposed chaos extends to the Trump administration’s management of federal departments and agencies."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., took a similar tone, asserting ahead of the tournament that "Trump cares more about being on international TV at midfield on match day than actually hosting successful games."

In May, The Atlantic published a piece titled "Another Way America Will Choke at the World Cup," in which the author predicted that "in the coming months, America’s patchwork railway system will be similarly challenged—and its weaknesses exposed—across all 11 U.S. sites of World Cup matches."

Nathaniel Sizemore, a spokesperson for the agency, told Fox News Digital that it was "the Left’s TDS [Trump derangement syndrome]" that "put them in the absurd position of praying for an American transit disaster."

PRESIDENT TRUMP STEALS PART OF SPOTLIGHT AS SPAIN CELEBRATES WORLD CUP TITLE OVER ARGENTINA

However, with the World Cup officially concluded, the results are in and, according to DOT, they are conclusive. The department said that, aided by its $100.3 million in federal funding to host cities, local transit systems accommodated record-breaking numbers.

During the World Cup, Atlanta saw more than 2 million riders use public transit to get to matches, fan fests, and other events, with match-day ridership reaching up to three times the typical average.

In Seattle, DOT said that more than 1.1 million combined riders used city public transit during the first two matches alone. On July 6, the city’s light rail system accommodated 309,000 riders, blowing well past the system’s single-day record of 220,000 riders.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia, which also hosted this year’s MLB All-Star Game, saw an average of 27,000 riders using public transit per match. The city’s PHLASH bus service recorded a 500 percent increase in ridership.

Even cities not previously known for their public transit systems accommodated record numbers. Kansas City saw a one-day record for streetcar riders at 48,260 on June 27. Los Angeles saw a 598 percent increase in rider taps on World Cup match day compared to a typical Friday.

To put it further in perspective, DOT said that in San Francisco, an average of more than 38,000 fans moved to and from World Cup matches using public transit, exceeding Super Bowl LX’s numbers by nearly 8,000.

DOT is not the only one that noticed the U.S. public transit system performing.

At the start of the tournament, Vox ran a piece titled "The World Cup has a Trump problem." In the piece, the outlet accused Trump of "actively hindering" the World Cup and other sporting events, especially through the president’s "hostility to all immigrants … especially to non-white ones." Yet, ahead of the final match, Vox wrote that "the nation’s widely expected World Cup public transit meltdown has simply not materialized."

The outlet said that "to the surprise of pretty much everyone, US cities have managed to absorb the influx of fans with relative ease, even under the pressure of record ridership en route to stadiums, watch parties, and fan zones."

Duffy, however, was not surprised.

"Whether they flew, took passenger rail, hopped on public transit, or hit the open road, Americans and visitors alike saw the best of our nation over the last month," he told Fox News Digital.

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Dave Flippo knows a thing or two about winning a fight. During his military career he deployed around the world, including serving as a maintenance and logistics officer in Iraq during the lead up to the 2003 invasion. Currently, he's locked in a tough battle in a Republican-leaning open swing district comprising an enormous chunk of northern Nevada.

Nevada may be the best bellwether state west of the Mississippi. It's a hotly contested state with a booming economy and an exploding population marked by a familiar theme in politics: a stark divide between its rural and urban populations.

JOE LOMBARDO CRUISES PAST SIX GOP CHALLENGERS TO SECURE NEVADA REPUBLICAN GUBERNATORIAL NOMINATION

Trump won Nevada by a modest margin in 2024, and Governor Joe Lombardo defeated a Democrat incumbent in 2022. Yet three of its four congressional districts are blue, as are both of its Senate seats. The Democrats hold both chambers of the state legislature by large margins.

Flippo won the Republican nomination despite having a well-known establishment-backed primary opponent in the Nevada legislature:

"Well, up in the north, it's an R+7 district, and Trump won that district by 14. It's a conservative district. And running against the establishment versus a conservative candidate who had been endorsed by Turning Point, Club for Growth, President Trump endorsed me. Obviously, the conservative people in the northern Nevada area wanted a conservative in this seat."

Having never held elected office, Flippo presents his newcomer status as an advantage, rather than a liability:

"I beat the establishment. I think people are tired of the establishment politicians, the politicians that…are there just to be a moderate, be that middle ground. I think we need fighters in Congress.

"I think we need people in Congress that are ready to stand up, stand up for the American people, and here in Nevada, stand up for Nevadans."

Flippo spent much of his military career in the Middle East. He argues that Trump's Iran policy is ending a war, not starting one:

"What President Trump is doing with the Strait of Hormuz and Iran, this has been a 47-year conflict. Some in the media have been saying that Trump is starting a forever war, but in my opinion, he's ending it.

"Most all of my career was in the Middle East, fighting because of Iran and what they're doing with Israel and with Hezbollah and Hamas and the Houthis. What Iran has done is over, and things are going to change, and President Trump sees that.

"I fully support what President Trump is doing. We need to open up the strait, it needs to be a clear waterway. We need the flow of oil to start again."

The voters of northern Nevada want a constitutional conservative, Flippo argues, and he is prepared to deliver results on budgetary issues, as the exploding national debt approaches $40 trillion.

"We have to get to a balanced budget. We have to get this deficit under control. What are we, $39 trillion in debt now and it keeps climbing? Something has to be done. We have to stop spending money that we don't have.

"We need to stop expanding government. And that's what's been happening over the years. We just keep expanding and expanding. You know, I'm a constitutional conservative: government has four purposes and if you go beyond those four purposes, it belongs to the states.

"And the government has taken on so much now that we just keep getting more and more in debt. And it's time that we have representatives in Congress that are ready to stop that."

Illegal immigration is a signature issue for Flippo, who paints the problem in economic terms, and is concerned about its impact on a variety of pressing public policy issues.

"lllegal immigration is a problem in the United States. And if you look at what's happened in the last six years under Biden and the open borders policies and the 20 to 30 million people that were allowed to come in, what has that done? It's caused housing costs to go up.

"That's a supply and demand issue. 20 million people. That's 20 cities the size of Las Vegas, right? What does that mean? All that has to be paid for by tax dollars, by taxpayers. 20 cities the size of Las Vegas, 40 cities the size of Reno. That's a lot. That's a lot to ask for the taxpayers to come in all at once."

While the district leans Republican, the Democrats believe they have fielded a formidable candidate in former Nevada Assembly Majority Leader Teresa Benitez-Thompson. Flippo is not taking anything for granted, but believes the contrast between his conservative outlook and her left-wing voting record will play to his advantage.

"She's a big government [supporter], big spender. She's voted to raise taxes 12 times here in Nevada. She voted for the largest tax increase in Nevada's history. She voted for Planned Parenthood funding. She voted for drivers licenses for illegals. I mean, she has a voting record that she says she's very proud of. And I don't believe that's something to be proud of."

Finally, Flippo believes that Trump's support is a net asset in his district, and believes that support, along with the backing of Gov. Lombardo, will carry a lot of weight.

"My district in northern Nevada, District 2, is an R+7 that Trump won by 14. So Trump obviously carries some weight in northern Nevada. It's a conservative part of this state, which is different than the southern part.

Hunter Biden revealed in an interview on Saturday that he never wanted his father, former President Joe Biden, to run for a second term.

Over the past few months, Hunter has been on a podcast tour speaking out about what it was like to be Biden’s son during his presidency and offering his take on politics. Following the full federal pardon granted by his father in December 2024, Hunter has made use of his freedom to speak off-the-cuff.

During the recent interview with NPR, Hunter was asked by the host of NPR’s "Newsmakers" whether he wanted his father to have run for re-election in the first place.

"No. No," Hunter replied.

Hunter rejected reports that he had egged his dad on to stay in the running, replying, "Literally nothing could be further from the truth, and I think that they know that."

He then turned the question around on the media and asked, "But just from a logical perspective, what would I possibly have to gain to continue to be the target that I was?"

"And more than anything, I just wanted to have my dad back," he concluded.

The NPR host then asked whether he let his father know about these concerns before he decided to run for re-election. Hunter replied that he only aired these concerns after Joe had made his choice, arguing that otherwise it would have been unfair to burden his father with his own concerns.

"No, because I think it's unfair for me to do because this — because I know this also. There's only one thing my dad cares about more than his service, and that's me and my mom, my sister, and his grandkids, my children," he said. "There's only one thing that he cared about more than his job, and that's his family. And for somebody in his family, particularly me, to say, 'Dad, please don't do it,' I don't know how — I think that's incredibly unfair to do to somebody. I would never want to be that. I would never want it to be the reason that he didn't fulfill what he believed was his duty and service."

New York Times torched for ‘FALSE’ reporting on ICE investigations, outlet fires back

The Department of Homeland Security and The New York Times are going toe-to-toe after the agency accused the outlet of "false" reporting alleging that federal agents across the country were told that the FBI would not be investigating confrontations with ICE officers.

"This is FALSE," DHS posted on social media. The agency said that "the relationship between DHS and [the Justice Department] in investigating assault on federal officer cases has NOT changed, and [the FBI] will continue to investigate in accordance with agency policy."

"This administration has been clear, anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," DHS added.

In response, Danielle Rhoades Ha, a spokesperson for The New York Times, said the outlet stands by its reporting, telling Fox News Digital, "We're confident in the accuracy of our reporting, which revealed that Federal agents around the country were told in recent days that the F.B.I. would no longer investigate confrontations with immigration agents."

Rhoades Ha pointed out that the story "included a joint statement from the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security denying that such a change would be enacted."

The outlet reported that federal agents around the country were told in recent days that the FBI would no longer investigate confrontations with immigration agents, cases that The New York Times wrote, "Sometimes yield evidence that could be used to prosecute Department of Homeland Security agents implicated in violent encounters."

The Times wrote that if such a policy were enacted it would "sharply limit law enforcement scrutiny of immigration agents" and be "effectively leaving the agency to investigate itself."

Former President Barack Obama suggested Thursday that Vice President JD Vance was pushing a "blood and soil" vision for the country despite being married to the "daughter of an immigrant."

The vice president came up as Obama was discussing the Reconstruction era with author Malcolm Gladwell, claiming that the issues from that era are still being discussed today.

"It’s impossible to spend a lot of time thinking about Reconstruction without reflecting on the present day, right?" Obama said. "Because these issues are — well, they’re still there. If somebody is asking why it is relevant to talk about Reconstruction, I have to describe for them the degree to which we’re having the same arguments. The issues of: How are we going to help the freed people who’ve been enslaved? What are we going to give them to allow them to have a go at life? What does real freedom mean?"

Gladwell went on to accuse Vance of "hypocrisy" for attempting to make a "nativist argument" while being married to Usha Vance, the daughter of Indian immigrants. Obama agreed that Vance was a hypocrite but conceded that it was progress compared to a century prior.

"That is progress. Listen, hypocrisy is progress. It is, because it means that you feel guilty enough to either lie to yourself or others. And that is better than not even thinking about the idea that maybe you’re doing something wrong," Obama said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Vance's office for comment.

Vance's most recent speech was earlier this month honoring America's 250th birthday on July 4 in New York. During his remarks, he urged Americans to reject the "two-dimensional view" of the country based on its failings.

FIFA is launching an investigation into the altercations that broke out on the pitch after Spain defeated Argentina in the 2026 World Cup Final at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Sunday.

Spain beat Argentina, the 2022 World Cup champions, 1-0 in extra time after Ferran Torres finally got the ball past Emiliano Martínez’s goal line.

After the final whistle blew, several brawls broke out between players, and even coaches appeared to get involved.

Among them was Argentina’s Leandro Paredes appearing to grab Spain’s Eric García by the throat before others started shoving and tripping each other to the turf.

"Following an assessment of the relevant match reports for the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, and in line with article 36 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has appointed a Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor to investigate potential breaches of the FDC with regard to the post-match incidents," a statement from the governing organization read.

There also seemed to be a moment where Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala approached Spain’s Dani Olmo and punched him on the chin before they were pulled away from one another.

"We are gracious in victory, and we must be so in defeat," Scaloni said, via ESPN. "We accept the loss; we gave everything. We were stretched thin coming into this, but giving it your all, like they did today, sets a great example for our people and our country.

"You lose, and you have to pick yourself up again."

Many were quick to rip into Argentina for the brawls that ensued after losing, including BBC’s Joe Hart.

"There was one man on the pitch who did have class and that was Lionel Messi, who shook hands with every one of those Spanish players," he said, via Goal.com. "The game's done. They could have absolutely no complaints about what happened today. Disgusting behavior."

5 dead in attempt to save a struggling swimmer in Ohio river

An attempt to save a struggling swimmer in an Ohio river left five people dead over the weekend, authorities said Monday .

A group gathered Sunday evening at the Scioto River in Powell, a Columbus suburb, when one of them went into the water to go swimming.

"And that’s when the tragedy started to occur," Delaware County Sheriff Jeffrey Balzer said at a news conference Monday. Others then jumped into the river in an attempt to help the swimmer.

"I understand that one person got in the river, was struggling in the water. Two people went in to try to save them," Balzer said. Those people started struggling in the river, Now we have two additional people go in the water."

At around 9 p.m., a "distraught" child with the group ran onto a nearby road and was spotted by a motorist who called 911. The child said his family was in the river, Balzer said.

First responders arrived and found two women, who were pronounced dead at a hospital, Balzer said.

The bodies of three men were found in the river on Monday, Tracy Whited, a spokesperson for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, told The Associated Press. The identities of the deceased have not been released.

No boat was at the scene and it was unclear if alcohol played a factor in the tragedy, the sheriff said.

Brain tumor found during preventive scan puts full-body MRIs back in the spotlight

After a former "Bachelor" contestant said a preventive scan uncovered a brain tumor before symptoms appeared, doctors are once again weighing the promise — and pitfalls — of full-body MRI screenings.

The renewed attention comes as celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and now former "Bachelor" contestant Josh Seiter have publicly discussed preventive body scans, fueling consumer interest in the technology despite ongoing debate among medical experts about its benefits for healthy people.

Full-body scans use different technologies, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) or positron emission tomography (PET), according to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

'BACHELORETTE' STAR REVEALS BRAIN TUMOR DIAGNOSIS AFTER ROUTINE HEALTH SCAN

The goal is to detect early signs of diseases such as cancer, heart disease and other abnormalities.

Dr. Daniel Durand, chief medical officer at Prenuvo, one of the biggest U.S. providers of full-body scans, compared the scan to a "virtual physical" in which a radiologist examines the inside of the body in a way that a traditional annual physical cannot.

Prenuvo's scan uses MRI technology to collect a "vast amount of health data," the Maryland-based doctor previously told Fox News Digital.

"Two licensed providers analyze this data, explain its relevance directly to you and offer you guidance on the next steps necessary to optimize your health," he said.

5 CANCER TYPES WHERE SCREENINGS SAVE THE MOST LIVES

Insurance does not typically cover whole-body scans.

"Coverage usually varies widely by insurance plan, jurisdiction, and the specific clinical guidelines for each genetic condition," Dr. Mikhail Varshavski, more commonly known as "Dr. Mike," a podcaster and primary care physician in New Jersey, previously told Fox News Digital.

"My general understanding is that for screening purposes, the test is usually not covered, given the lack of documented clinical benefit versus harms."

Some coverage may be offered, however, for those with high-risk genetic syndromes or other specific medical conditions, the doctor noted.

"Our hope is that over time, insurers will see the many benefits of our proactive approach to healthcare and will broaden coverage," Prenuvo’s Durand said.

COMMON CANCER TYPE COULD BE DETECTED WITH NEW BLOOD TEST

"We are actively engaged in several research studies that could provide a foundation for insurance reimbursement."

Depending on the provider and options selected, prices for full-body scans can be as high as $2,500.

The two biggest providers of full-body scans are Prenuvo (headquartered in California) and Ezra (based in New York City).

Potential benefits

Dr. Brett Osborn, a Florida neurologist and longevity expert, has also spoken with Fox News Digital about the benefits of full-body MRI scans.

"Full-body scanning, mainly through MRI, presents a significant advancement in modern medicine's diagnostic capabilities," he said.

"MRI technology allows for a comprehensive, non-invasive examination of the body to detect a wide range of conditions, including cancer and vascular malformations like aneurysms, without the need for potentially harmful radiation, as is the case with CT scans," he also said.

Durand claimed that a Prenuvo scan can detect many diseases based on changes to the inside of the body that can be detected by MRI.

"Usually these changes happen before symptoms occur or before there are signs on a physical exam," he told Fox News Digital.

"So, in many cases, the earliest signs of diseases — like cancers, infections or aneurysms — will be seen," he went on. "By seeing them earlier, you can be treated earlier, hopefully before the disease has done little to no permanent damage."

Doctors share concerns

Dr. Mike told Fox News Digital that he has not recommended that any of his patients get an MRI screening scan.

"The high upfront cost and lack of clear medical indication for broad screening (if you’re low-risk and asymptomatic) lead me to agree with the major medical organizations that routine whole-body MRI screening for the general population is not recommended," he said.

CANCER SCREENINGS: HERE ARE 5 TYPES AND CRITICAL INFORMATION TO KNOW ABOUT EACH

Much of the popularity of these scans has been driven by celebrities, who sometimes receive them for free, Dr. Mike said — which he finds concerning.

"My understanding is that even receiving a free scan is a business relationship that the FTC requires disclosing," he said. "My understanding is that the companies themselves cannot claim their tests save lives, so they work with celebs who can make personal claims that are not subject to the same investigational scrutiny."

"This also sends a conflicting message to the consumer and creates confusion."

Dr. Marc Siegel, clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Health and Fox News' senior medical analyst, also does not recommend these scans to patients.

"With the current level of technology, I am against full-body scans in favor of more directed workups initiated by expert physicians who know what they are looking for," he has told Fox News Digital.

"If you do a full-body scan, you will be inclined to pursue every positive finding, whether they are really significant or not."

Siegel also noted the high expense and the fact that full-body scans are "frequently oversensitive."

"They may take the place of more directed, accurate studies and screening tests that are more suited to the symptoms, history and genetic tests in specific patients," Siegel cautioned.

The doctor also noted the current shift toward more personalized healthcare approaches, "augmented by not just genetics, but also artificial intelligence."

"This will lead to more directed workups, not to more full-body scans."

The most significant risks that come with these full-body scans, according to Dr. Mike, are the issues that arise with false positives, overdiagnosis and overtreatment.

There are also mental risks, including anxiety during the procedure (claustrophobia), stress from incidental findings and an increase in health-related worries, the doctor noted.

"Some proponents say it can ease health-related anxiety; however, I am pretty skeptical of that claim," he said. "Based on my clinical experience, even getting a clear scan would secure peace of mind only temporarily."

Research published in 2020 found that imaging abnormalities are expected in about 95% of screened subjects, according to the doctor.

"This means the majority of those scanned will have some sort of finding presented to them," he said. "I can’t imagine how helpful that would be to someone already prone to health worries."

During a 2025 podcast interview with Dr. Mike, Andrew Lacy, CEO of Prenuvo, said that long-term data on these screening scans is not yet available.

"So, currently, we don't know if we are saving more people by catching disease early or harming more people with overdiagnosis, false positives and overtreatment," Dr. Mike said.

"Barring emergencies, if I don't have clear data about the harms and benefits of an intervention, especially one that is meant to be used on healthy people, I cannot widely recommend it."

Prenuvo did cite a recent study of over 1,000 patients who were followed over a one-year period.

"In this sample, we found pathologically-proven cancer in 2.2% of Prenuvo patients," Durand told Fox News Digital. "Importantly, most of these cancers were early stage, and the majority were cancer types for which there is no widely accepted screening exam."

"At this time, the FDA knows of no scientific evidence demonstrating that whole-body scanning of individuals without symptoms provides more benefit than harm to people being screened," the agency stated on its website.

The FDA also warned about the "relatively high radiation exposure" from CT scans. While this exposure risk is "greatly outweighed" by the benefits of diagnostic and therapeutic scans, the agency said that for whole-body screening of asymptomatic people, "the benefits are questionable."

"Before having a CT screening procedure, carefully investigate and consider the potential risks and benefits and discuss them with your physician," the FDA advised.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) also recommends against full-body scans for early tumor detection in asymptomatic patients.

A California man accused of stealing jewelry was back behind bars less than 24 hours after walking out of jail, allegedly pulling off the exact same type of crime while already on pretrial probation, authorities said.

Andre Wiley, 19, was arrested last week after Sacramento County Sheriff's Office detectives said he teamed up with two other men in an alleged jewelry store theft just hours after being released from the Placer County Jail on his own recognizance for burglary, conspiracy and grand theft charges.

Investigators said Wiley and 18-year-olds Andrew Ivy and Kameryus Mayhand entered a local jewelry store together.

Authorities allege Ivy and Mayhand distracted employees by browsing merchandise while Wiley sat at a consultation desk and stole two pieces of jewelry before the trio fled.

Authorities also released surveillance video appearing to show the entire alleged theft unfold, from the trio casually entering the store and walking around inside to their sudden dash out the door moments later.

A short time later, the Rancho Cordova Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit located the suspects' vehicle, leading to their arrests and the recovery of the stolen items, authorities said.

Wiley, Ivy and Mayhand were all booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and grand theft.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office released the suspects' booking photos because detectives believe they may be connected to additional thefts.

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon compared President Donald Trump's MAGA movement to the Nazi Party and revealed he was considering a potential 2028 presidential campaign during a Wednesday interview.

"MAGA is the closest thing to the modern version of the Nazi Party," Lemon said on the "Can't Be Censored" podcast. "This is America’s version. It’s the closest thing, without the Holocaust and all that stuff."

Lemon made the comparison after the hosts, Travis Dhanraj and Karman Wong, asked him to define MAGA and consider what could happen to the Republican Party after Trump leaves the political stage.

The former cable news host broadened his attack beyond the MAGA movement, accusing Trump of fascism and arguing that the country had moved beyond ordinary political dysfunction.

"We’ve careened into fascism," Lemon said. "The president is a fascist."

The White House sharply criticized Lemon’s remarks in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Don Lemon is a low ratings loser that no one takes seriously," White House spokesman Davis Ingle said. "He should immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."

Lemon said people had repeatedly asked whether he would run for president and that he was unimpressed by many of the figures he viewed as possible presidential contenders.

"I don’t know, I might," Lemon said. "I’m serious. I don’t know. I might because people keep asking me to do it."

"I’ve stuck my toe into it, if you want to put it that way, or I’ve dabbled. I’ve talked to people about it, people who have been in politics before."

He said he would prefer a campaign financed through small contributions rather than large donors, although he acknowledged that avoiding traditional fundraising might not be realistic.

"I would like it to be a voter-driven, citizen-driven campaign for as much as it can be," Lemon said. "Maybe at some point I might have to take a donation."

"I would rather the people of the United States to say, ‘That’s the guy that we want. I’m gonna give him five dollars or $10 or something that doesn’t break the bank because I know that the economy is tough,’"

Lemon also revisited his April 2023 departure from CNN, alleging that network leaders wanted to remove him because he was "the gay Black guy." CNN said at the time that the network and Lemon had "parted ways" and disputed his account of how he was notified.

"They wanted to get rid of me as the gay Black guy," Lemon said. "One hundred percent, that’s what it was."

A CNN spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the decision had nothing to do with his identity.

"Don was an important member of the CNN family for nearly 20 years," the spokesperson said.

"The decision regarding Don’s departure was based on factors unrelated to his race or sexual orientation," the statement continued. "Although we disagree with his recollection of events, we are grateful for his contributions and wish him nothing but success in the future."

A resurfaced video showing far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker praising Mao Zedong circulated online Sunday night after he addressed the College Democrats of America’s national convention Saturday in Washington, prompting criticism from Democratic activists, political commentators and other public figures.

In the resurfaced livestream, Piker discussed being stopped by a police officer while visiting Tiananmen Square during a November 2025 trip to China.

"I got stopped by a cop who thought I was making fun of Mao Zedong, which I never would and never will," Piker said. "Mao Zedong is one of the great leaders of this world, OK? A man who changed the entire universe, the entire planet."

Piker later responded after viewers challenged his praise for the former Chinese Communist Party chairman, according to a transcript published by Vox.

Estimates of deaths directly connected to the famine during Mao's Great Leap Forward range from 23 million to 55 million, with 30 million most frequently cited, according to the Association of Asian Studies.

The video resurfaced after Piker appeared at the College Democrats' July convention. The organization describes itself as the official collegiate arm of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Piker opened his convention speech by characterizing himself as an outsider seeking an "insurgency" within the Democratic Party.

"No more to the Democrats who will collaborate and cooperate with the fascists, who will fund ICE, who will fund Israel, who will help poison the planet," Piker said. "We don’t need those Democrats anymore."

Moms Demand for Action founder Shannon Watts criticized Piker's appearance and clothing in an X post.

"Dressed like Mao and talking about how much he hates the majority of Democrats as an invited guest of @CollegeDems," Watts said. "Our party having a normal one."

"He is a dangerous, hateful extremist and anyone campaigning with him — including El Sayed — should be held accountable by voters," Watts said.

Fox News reached out to the DNC and El-Sayed for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
