Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffers knee injury against Rams, possible MCL issue feared

The optimism and good tidings the New York Giants enjoyed through the first week of the NFL season are suddenly on hold as the team is busy evaluating the status of injured quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Dart, in his second NFL season, injured his left knee during the first series of the Monday Night Football game between the Giants and Los Angeles Rams.

The injury happened on a first-quarter hit when Dart was hit by Rams defenders both high and low. And the low hit seemed to cause his left knee to bend in a manner it is not meant to bend.

The hit left Dart on the ground clutching at the knee of his forward leg when he throws. That is never a good sign.

The saving grace: Dart's leg was not planted on the turf when he was hit.

That allowed the entire part of the lower leg to bend with the knee.

So the chances of this being a season-ending ACL tear are not exceedingly high.

But there seems to be a possibility Dart suffered some sort of MCL issue, according to an NFL source.

Dart limped off the field and was initially treated in the team's medical tent. Several teammates huddled outside the medical tent while Dart was inside, no doubt worried about the status of their starting quarterback.

Dart was eventually escorted to the locker room, limping there under his own power.

Socialist, communist groups coordinate, promote 'spontaneous' anti-ICE protests in Austin

Media accounts reported that protesters "quickly organized" a spontaneous anti-ICE protest at an Austin, Texas, intersection following the shooting of a Venezuelan man by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

But a Fox News Digital investigation shows that the protests are being promoted and organized by a coordinated network of far-left socialist and communist groups, including the Democratic Socialists of America, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which works closely with nonprofits funded by Neville Roy Singham, a communist American-born tech tycoon living in Shanghai.

Congressional lawmakers are investigating the Singham network for allegedly fomenting the image of "chaos" in the U.S., including anti-ICE protests from Minneapolis to the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, N.J. Sure enough, Sunday evening, BreakThrough News, a pro-communist media platform operated by BreakThrough BT Media, a nonprofit funded by Singham, published a "BREAKING NEWS" report from Texas with the headline: "Austin erupts in protest…"

AUSTIN ICE SHOOTING SPARKS FIGHT OVER VENEZUELAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT'S DEPORTATION

The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon at about 12:56 p.m. Central Time near Anderson Square and Research Boulevard in Austin. Authorities said an ICE officer shot Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez, a 28-year-old Venezuelan national, during a traffic stop. Perez was hospitalized in serious but stable condition and later placed in federal custody. Local officials said Austin police weren’t involved in the shooting, which is being investigated by federal authorities with assistance from the FBI.

About four hours after the shooting, local socialist and communist activists were already at the scene, waving flags of Mexico, pushing the incident through their national and Texas social-media networks and broadcasting footage of the growing crowd and confrontations with Austin police.

The headlines and descriptions of the demonstration have focused on the protest’s anti-ICE message without identifying the political or ideological infrastructure that helped organize and promote the event. Local media headlines included KVUE reporting that "North Austin ICE shooting draws large protest as tensions escalate," describing a spontaneous outburst: "What began with a handful of people gathered across the street from the scene grew into a much larger crowd over the course of several hours."

But the details of the Austin protest are important because they reveal that the demonstrations represent more than an unplanned gathering of residents responding to a breaking-news event, much like the protests in Minnesota and New Jersey and Minnesota.

SECRET SIGNAL CHATS REVEAL HOW ANTI-ICE AGITATORS COORDINATED NEWARK RIOTS

The shooting provided the immediate trigger, but the mobilization was amplified by organizations with explicit revolutionary socialist and communist ideologies, established propaganda outlets and long-standing ties to international movements aligned with the communist governments of Cuba and Venezuela. They each have pre-existing activist networks and online audiences that organized and promoted the protests.

The event also illustrates how rapidly established activist networks can convert a law-enforcement incident into a larger political action. Within hours, the groups distributed nearly identical claims, promoted the same location and used dramatic language describing the shooting as "ICE terror," "police violence" and part of a pattern of killings.

At about 4:19 p.m. local time, the Party for Socialism and Liberation’s national account, @PSLNational, posted an explosive message on X, announcing the shooting and shouting in capital letters, "BREAKING. MAN SHOT BY ICE AGENTS IN AUSTIN. It called on residents to protest ICE, declaring, "ICE OUT OF AUSTIN NOW!"

Right about then, the group’s Austin chapter shared the dramatic "BREAKING" graphic on Instagram, collaborating with its national headquarters and four Texas chapters in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco. By early Monday evening, about 24 hours later, the post had 5,402 likes, 2,016 reposts and 2,391 shares/sends.

Soon after on Sunday, at about 4:30 p.m. local time, the Austin chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America posted a graphic labeled "Emergency Demonstration/Vigil" calling on supporters to gather at 8121 Research Boulevard from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday for a "spontaneous" protest.

"Join us at 8121 Research Blvd from 5-8 p.m. for a spontaneous protest and vigil against yet another instance of ICE and police violence," the post said.

The group later reposted the notice with an updated location and said the demonstration would continue until 7 p.m.

Right about then, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, an openly Marxist-Leninist group that has sent delegations to support communist regimes in Cuba and Venezuela, and its Austin chapter published its own hyperbolic material about the shooting. One graphic said, "ICE SHOOTS AN UNARMED CIVILIAN," while another described the incident as part of a broader pattern of "ICE violence and killings." Within 24 hours, the post garnered 620 likes, 214 reposts and 156 shares/sends.

The Freedom Road Socialist Organization openly says it is working to build "a new, revolutionary, communist party." In its own program, the group says it wants to replace capitalism through a socialist revolution. The group's program describes the organization as part of the communist movement. In July, the group said it "salutes the Communist Party of China" on the 105th anniversary of its founding.

For years, it’s also supported the Communist Party of Cuba, declaring, "Stand with socialist Cuba," as it praised the Cuban Revolution and called for an end to U.S. sanctions against Cuba.

Videos posted by the group showed demonstrators chanting, holding signs, blocking the roadway near the shooting scene and lighting fireworks.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation official manifesto describes itself as a "revolutionary socialist" movement that "will open the way to communism and the end of class society." The program describes the police and state institutions as tools of capitalist rule and calls for a workers’ government to replace the current system.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation functions as a key boots-on-the-ground mobilizer within the broader activist ecosystem, working alongside Singham-funded organizations such as the People’s Forum, BreakThrough News, CodePink and the ANSWER Coalition on protests, media campaigns and international solidarity efforts.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation also overlaps with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization through shared "anti-imperialist" pro-communist coalitions, while the Democratic Socialists of America often provides a broader layer of street-level organizing and political amplification.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation has participated in international "solidarity" efforts involving Cuba and Venezuela, along with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, according to a communist publication, Fight Back! News. A self-described communist co-founder of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Brian Becker, has said the delegation traveled "as comrades in solidarity."

The facts surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Austin officials have called for transparency and an independent review, while federal authorities have said the ICE agent’s use of force is being investigated. But the protest organizers’ social media posts leave little ambiguity about the political and ideological objective of the protest.

At 5:44 p.m., @PSLNational posted a video from the scene, announcing, "LIVE: A crowd has gathered…", and moving from initial messaging to real-time amplification of the street protest. Its national and Austin accounts shared the video on Instagram synchronized with the band Rage Against the Machine’s song, "We’ve Got to Take the Power Back." It added the message, "Austinites flooding the streets where man shot by ICE: ‘ICE out of our neighborhoods,’" giving the illusion of a spontaneous "flooding" of "the streets."

That evening, at 8:27 p.m., @PSLNational published an expanded statement on X, headlined "Justice for Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez," demanding the detainee’s release and the agent's arrest and telling supporters to "follow the example of Minneapolis earlier this year until ICE terror is defeated!"

An identical "Justice for Wilber…" collaborative post on Instagram spread through the Party for Socialism and Liberation’sTexas and national accounts. By early Monday evening, it had 10,600 likes, 3,616 reposts and 2,343 shares/sends.

By about 5 p.m. on Monday, a new call to action moved activists to Pearsal Detention Center, where local groups claimed ICE agents allegedly held the detainee in custody: "WE NEED YOU BOOTS ON THE GROUND…!!!"

Chris Murphy calls for 'regulating the internet' so people won't fall for a 'demagogue like Donald Trump'

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., suggested on Sunday that the government get involved in regulating the internet to make people less likely "to fall for a bulls--- demagogue like Donald Trump" in the future.

While appearing on the "I've Had It" podcast, Murphy discussed his book "Crisis of the Common Good," where he warned that America will be "stuck" with leaders like Trump unless more government action is taken to tackle loneliness and powerlessness among voters.

"Those are the two things I think Americans are going through right now," Murphy said. "They don't feel powerful at all, and they feel lonely. And so, government should build a set of rules in which people feel more powerful — that's why the minimum wage is so important — and people feel so more connected. That's why, you know, rebuilding healthy institutions in your town should be a project that government is involved in."

These efforts included regulating the internet, which Murphy said could sway people away from politicians like Trump.

"That's why regulating the internet so that you're spending less time alone on Instagram should be an important government project," he said. "And if people are feeling more powerful and less lonely, then they are going to be less likely to fall for a bulls--- demagogue like Donald Trump. And what I say in the book is that if you really think about the things that make you more connected and make you more powerful, they're not actually super partisan."

Murphy, a frequent Trump critic, continued to urge efforts to affect change.

"The book basically says unless you fix what's broken with the culture, you're going to be stuck with people like Trump for a long time," he added.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for action to be taken against social media companies in an effort to protect young users. Many have suggested scaling back Section 230, which provides broad immunity to social media platforms for their content.

However, in light of recent discussions surrounding artificial intelligence (AI), some Republican lawmakers have expressed skepticism at efforts to regulate technology, suggesting experts outside of Congress should manage AI.

A federal proposal that could change meal and rest-break rules for flight attendants is drawing opposition from major airline unions even as aviation experts applaud the plan.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is proposing a nationwide rule that would prevent state and local governments from setting their own meal and rest-break requirements for flight attendants and pilots.

Instead, federal aviation rules would apply — according to the agency's proposed rule document.

The proposal would affect existing state protections, including meal and rest requirements that have applied to some California-based flight attendants, the document states.

Under California law, employees generally must receive a 30-minute meal break when working more than five hours, according to the California Department of Industrial Relations. Employees generally must be relieved of all duties during that period for it to qualify as an off-duty meal break.

In its proposal, the FAA argues that different state requirements could interfere with airline operations and conflict with the safety responsibilities of flight attendants.

Flight attendants are responsible for handling emergency situations, including fires, medical incidents, evacuations and unruly passengers, according to the FAA document. Requiring a flight attendant to be completely off duty during a break could create a safety risk.

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), however, opposes the proposal — arguing that it could remove state protections without establishing a federal guarantee for meal and rest breaks.

The union said some flight attendants already work for hours without adequate opportunities to eat, drink, use the restroom or take care of other basic needs.

"While we understand compliance with state laws is not without its challenges, we are far more concerned about the safety impacts of flight attendants working under onerous working conditions," the unions wrote in their joint comments to the FAA.

The unions also argued that the proposed protections are "extremely vague" and do not provide enough assurance that airline policies will address both safety and flight attendants' needs.

"The proposed rule does little to ensure protections for flight attendants without specific contractual protections," the unions wrote.

The FAA's proposal does not prevent flight attendants from eating, drinking or using the restroom.

Instead, airlines would have to allow them to meet those needs while ensuring they remain available for safety responsibilities, according to the document.

Michael J. Boyd, president of aviation consulting firm Boyd Group International based in Colorado, told Fox News Digital that, in his opinion, the FAA's approach makes sense given the safety role of flight attendants.

Boyd is not connected to the rule developments and expressed his opinion based on his experience in the aviation industry.

"They're on duty," Boyd said. "You can't break like that in the middle of the sky."

"They have to be on duty because they're a safety function, just like pilots are, just like firefighters are," he added.

Boyd said he does not believe flight attendants would see major changes to their day-to-day work if the proposal is finalized.

"Nothing will change," he said. "All they're saying is that state rules do not supersede FAA rules."

Boyd also expressed concern that state break requirements could require airlines to add more flight attendants to provide coverage, raising costs.

Under the current federal system, meal and break arrangements can be addressed through airline policies and collective bargaining agreements, according to the FAA document.

Federal rules also require flight attendants to receive 10 consecutive hours of rest between duty periods, the agency noted.

Trumpeter Dr Jesse McGuire belts national anthem after instrument malfunctions in unforgettable MLB moment

After being the Arizona Diamondbacks’ good-luck charm during their 2001 World Series run, trumpeter Dr. Jesse McGuire played the national anthem for the MLB franchise once more to commemorate 25 years since that last Fall Classic victory.

McGuire was known to perform the national anthem during that postseason, which included a decisive World Series Game 7 walk-off victory over the New York Yankees, whom the Diamondbacks just so happened to schedule their 25-year World Series anniversary for during their weekend series.

In fact, McGuire’s lore in Arizona led to him getting his own World Series ring.

But during his rendition on Saturday, with a sell-out crowd at Chase Field to celebrate and watch the D-Backs face off against the Yankees, McGuire’s trumpet began to malfunction.

It wasn’t the smooth song that McGuire was known for, but it was the equipment that was giving him a hard time. McGuire tried to correct it, but after realizing in the beginning of The Star-Spangled Banner that it wouldn’t cut it, he reacted in the best way possible.

McGuire sang the rest of the way.

The 68-year-old, who once served as the lead trumpeter for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in New York City, while also performing his trumpeted anthem for three U.S. presidents, took the microphone and started to belt the words right where he left off.

The crowd gave him a quick cheer before going silent again to honor the Stars and Stripes, as McGuire continued to show his vocal range in front of the mass crowd.

As McGuire reached the climax of the anthem, the large American flag began to wave in the outfield, bringing together a beautiful scene before first pitch that almost went totally awry.

McGuire didn’t seem too happy at the end of the anthem because his trumpet wouldn’t work properly, but he can’t be mad at all after showcasing his vocal range in front of a crowd that gave him a standing ovation at the end.

Even Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was quick to show his respect to McGuire as he was leaving the field, commending him on the quick and patriotic act.

And if that wasn’t enough, McGuire was back in the seventh inning to perform "God Bless America," and yes, he sang this one as well.

National Park Service director calls Yellowstone's wild bison recovery an 'incredible conservation story'

A little more than a century ago, Yellowstone's bison were hanging on by a thread.

Today, thousands of them roam the park. And the conservation challenge has shifted from simply saving the herd to figuring out how to manage a thriving one.

During an interview with OutKick OutDoors, Jessica Bowron, acting director of the National Park Service, called the recovery an "incredible conservation story."

After millions of bison once roamed the Great Plains, the animals were nearly wiped out across their historic range. Rebuilding those populations, Bowron said, has taken decades of careful scientific work and cooperation among the Park Service and its Tribal, state, local and federal partners.

"To show up at Yellowstone today and have the experience as a visitor of seeing a wild bison in a functioning ecosystem, I don't know that we could have predicted that 100 years ago," Bowron said.

That's a pretty remarkable turnaround.

And now, Yellowstone's bison are helping build conservation herds far beyond the park itself.

Yellowstone bison are finding new homes

Through the Bison Conservation Transfer Program, Yellowstone works with Tribal partners to relocate live bison that have completed the necessary quarantine process.

Since 2019, more than 600 bison have been transferred to 29 tribes across 13 states, according to Bowron. More than 200 were transferred in 2026 alone.

"This is one of the coolest parts of this entire conservation effort," Bowron said.

Once the animals are transferred, she explained, each tribe can manage its herd according to its own priorities and sovereignty.

"It's a great example of how we're able to establish and expand conservation herds through that kind of partnership," Bowron said.

But conservation success doesn't mean the work is finished.

In some places, rebuilding the population remains the goal. At Yellowstone, Bowron said the challenge now is largely about managing the healthy herd that's already there.

"I think at Yellowstone, we're in the latter — figuring out how to successfully manage the herd that we have with all of our partners," she said.

At the same time, the Park Service continues to pursue live-transfer opportunities with tribes interested in establishing or expanding conservation herds.

A conservation problem you want to have

The Yellowstone story is also a reminder that conservation wins don't happen overnight.

Bowron said rebuilding bison populations has taken decades of scientific monitoring and cooperation among Tribal, state, local and federal partners.

And even after a species rebounds, the work changes rather than disappears.

For generations, the question was whether wild bison could survive at all in places like Yellowstone.

Now, wildlife managers are dealing with a very different question: What do you do when the comeback works?

Bison don't care where Yellowstone's boundary lines are drawn. They move across a massive landscape, meaning managing a successful herd requires cooperation among the Park Service and the many communities and agencies surrounding it.

But the fact that there is a healthy herd to manage — and enough animals to help establish conservation herds elsewhere — would have been difficult to imagine a century ago.

For anyone who's ever sat in Yellowstone traffic because a bison decided the middle of the road belonged to him, it might be easy to forget just how close America came to losing that experience entirely.

Travis Kelce had a vintage game in the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night.

He had nine catches on 11 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. It was the first time he had gone over 100 yards receiving in a regular-season game since Nov. 4, 2024, against the Houston Texans. He also had 117 yards against the Texans in the playoffs back on Jan. 18, 2025.

Kelce might be the first one to tell you that at 36 he can’t move the way he could at 26. However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid suggested on Monday there may be a little added motivation given who he’s married to.

"Trav worked his tail off," Reid told reporters. "That's the bottom line, and I think he probably said it after the game somewhere there that the amount of work he put in. He likes his surrounding cast, that’s around him too, which sure helps as just an extra challenge there to make sure that you're up there and competing and doing your part with that other group.

"So, he takes a lot of pride in that, but I know … everybody questioned with the wedding and all that. Would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time and all that? But he works his rear end off and I think Taylor (Swift), you're putting on four-hour shows, you've got to work hard, too. So, I'm sure she kicks him in the butt a little bit there, too."

Swift has been at both Chiefs games so far this year. Against the Colts, she flashed her wedding ring to the crowd when Kelce scored a touchdown. She let out a jubilant, "That’s my husband," when he scored.

Reid said Kelce’s focus on physical well-being was something that the tight end targeted in the offseason.

"He's really focused in on his body strength and his glutes and everything where you develop all the power and speed and maintain it and he's done a good job in those areas, where he's been able to maintain good explosiveness," Reid said.

A decision to invite New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to Manhattan’s annual Columbus Day Parade has sparked backlash among some Italian-American leaders.

The Columbus Citizens Foundation, which is responsible for holding the parade, invited Mamdani in the hopes of fostering a better relationship between City Hall and the Italian-American community, the New York Post reported. Mamdani’s past criticism of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, however, has sparked backlash among Italians who feel inviting the mayor is in poor taste.

"Are you kidding me? This is a WEAK and FECKLESS move by the organizers," Italian American Civil Rights League president Mike Crispi wrote on X. "Zohran has showed contempt for our people and kissing a** won’t change his true feelings. Italian Americans need to wake up and get tough. It’s the only way to preserve our culture."

Crispi’s criticism was a reference to a 2020 social media post where Mamdani posted a photo of himself brandishing his middle finger at a statue of Columbus with the caption "take it down." Columbus holds a near-legendary status among Italian Americans, with the 15th-century explorer viewed by many as a historic link between their heritage and the United States.

"We feel cooperating is always the better path . . . and we hope to create a good relationship with his office," Columbus Citizens Foundation president Christopher Loiacono told the New York Post when asked about his decision to invite Mamdani. It is unclear if Mamdani has accepted the invitation to the parade. Columbus Day falls on Monday, Oct. 12, with New York City’s annual Columbus Day Parade set for Manhattan.

"This is a man who has made it clear that he doesn’t respect Christopher Columbus, and he doesn’t even think us enough of a group to put on his immigrant enclave map," New York City Councilwoman Joann Ariola, a Republican from Queens, wrote in response. "Why would he want to be there? To get pictures and pretend he’s a paisan now? He should sit this one out."

Ariola’s comment was an apparent reference to a map of ethnic enclaves published by the city earlier this year that excluded Little Italy, which also sparked backlash from Italians. The map was initially created by the previous administration in 2023, and Mamdani said his administration added several neighborhoods before releasing the 2026 version.

Nonetheless, Mamdani has moved to update the map to include Little Italy.

A Columbus Day parade wouldn’t be the first public event Mamdani has attended this year to draw organized opposition to his presence. The mayor’s presence at the annual memorial service at Ground Zero on Sept. 11 spurred some family members of victims to circulate a petition demanding that he stay home.

"Just as Mamdani's presence at the 9/11 Ceremony was inappropriate, we Italian/Americans don't want him on Columbus Day either," right-wing political operative Roger Stone wrote on X.

Some non-Italians are offended on behalf of the community.

This Radical Islam mother f*cker gave the finger to a Columbus statue and left Little Italy/Arthur Avenue OFF his bullsh*t immigrant map … When did my Italian brothers and sisters become so soft! … I will NOT attend this year if he is there."

"The Italians need to step up and stop this!" he added.

Crispi has threatened to hold a competing Columbus Day parade next year if the Columbus Citizens Foundation does not revoke its invitation to the mayor.

'The View' host Sunny Hostin claims her children experienced racism at private schools

"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin suggested Monday that her children faced racism while attending "predominantly White" private schools.

Hostin brought up the topic while discussing 1619 Project founder and The New York Times Magazine reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, who recently admitted she regretted aspects of her decision to send her daughter to predominantly Black, high-poverty public schools in Brooklyn in an effort to challenge educational inequality.

Hostin empathized with Hannah-Jones' situation but suggested there were additional problems with sending Black children to "predominantly White" private schools.

So, while they didn't suffer academically, they excelled, but it was a well-funded school, a private school, well-resourced school, they suffered a different type of pain."

"There was psychological trauma, there was racism that they experienced," she added. "They were bullied. There was, you know, trauma around their identity. My daughter wears a big afro, kids were trying to stick pencils in her hair. Boys were calling her butter face, meaning she looked good, but her face, and she is a beautiful girl."

While Hostin conceded that her children "did not struggle academically" like Hannah-Jones' daughter reported, she expressed concerns about the "systemic problem" affecting predominantly non-White school districts.

"So I think the real question here is, nationally, schools in predominantly non-White districts receive $23 billion less in annual funding than their White counterparts. Fox News Digital reached out to ABC and Ethical Culture Fieldston School, where Hostin previously sent her children, for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

In a comment to Fox News Digital, Hannah-Jones said that the broader focus should remain on families who lack the resources to pursue better educational options for their children, rather than her decisions for her children.

Rep Eric Burlison: 'Most of my colleagues' are 'drunk on spending other people's money, even Republicans'

Facing a national debt that has exploded past $40 trillion, Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison isn't holding back on his own colleagues — accusing Washington lawmakers on both sides of the aisle of being "drunk on spending" while working-class families pay the price.

Burlison recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital to discuss fiscal prudence, healthcare, inflation, and how Republicans can lift their fortunes ahead of midterm elections just six weeks away.

CONGRESSMAN ERIC BURLISON: IN THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION, 'THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE PRISON'

"Most of my colleagues like to spend money…they like to spend other people's money. They're drunk on spending other people's money, even Republicans, unfortunately, and there's few people up here like myself who were willing to make significant spending reductions.

"And so we had to fight tooth and nail to get any spending reductions in the Big, Beautiful Bill. And we were demonized by the left, obviously, but we had to fight members even on our own side of the aisle to make those spending reductions.

"But, look, at some point, the party is going to be over, and we are all gonna wake up in a drunken stupor with a hangover, and it's going to be painful, and we're going to have to figure out how to get our way out of that.

"All of these sins of overspending are haunting us. And now we're seeing…inflation that we can't control. We're seeing the interest rates go through the roof. At some point, you can't keep borrowing money…Sadly, my colleagues that weren't willing to cut spending are going to be forced to cut spending."

Despite seeking to portray themselves as the party of affordability, the GOP seems to have a major messaging problem as it heads into the tumultuous midterm elections.

Burlison points to healthcare as the main problem:

"I mean, again, it's really sad. This office has been broadcasting to the leadership every chance that we can that the American people are feeling the crunch, they're feeling the affordability crunch. We put together a solution that we call the Great American healthcare plan. We also have another bill that addresses the housing affordability issue.

"This office has been doing everything we can to try to fix the affordability issue and have been putting these ideas and solutions in the faces of leadership for at least two years. It's just unfortunate that we can't get people to do the difficult things. And sadly that's because Washington DC doesn't like to do difficult things and fixing healthcare is the number one thing that we should be looking to do.

"Healthcare cost is eating away everyone's discretionary dollars…In the year 2000, the average American family was paying $6,000 a year for insurance premiums for a family of four. Today, that's $27,000 a year. If that had followed normal inflation, that would only be $11,000 per year.

"So if you ask the average family of four, would you like to be paying health insurance premiums at $11,000 a year, they would say, heck, yeah, that sounds like a great deal. That is not what they're paying today. They're paying $27,000. So if you think about that, just that alone, that is crowding out everything else that the average American family has to pay. You have to come up with another $16,000 that you didn't have to come up with before, in order to pay for a healthcare system that has exceeded inflation by three-fold.

"So three times normal inflation for the healthcare premiums, health insurance premiums. It's not sustainable, and it's crowded out everything else, and it is the reason why young people cannot afford to buy a home. It's the reason why people have a hard time going out to eat. It's a reason why people aren't going on vacation as much. People are having to make very difficult choices, and it's not the same choices that people had to make 20 years ago."

As Elon Musk and DOGE-fervor swept across the nation's capital at the beginning of 2025, Burlison's initial enthusiasm soon turned to disappointment as he saw colleagues avoid much-needed spending cuts:

"DOGE was the most exciting thing I've ever seen in politics. And I was super excited about it. But I also was skeptical. I watched Elon come give speeches to my colleagues. And what was ironic is that some of the most swampy members of Congress were rushing to the microphones to embrace Elon to talk to him to tell him where he should go to look for spending reductions.

"And yet those very people were the ones that were voting against every spending reduction that you would ever bring to the floor. We've had hundreds and hundreds of opportunities to cut spending… We submitted hundreds of amendments to the appropriations committees to cut spending and yet each and every time, anytime there's ever a vote to cut spending, they fail.

"So, look. All we have to do as Republicans is look in the mirror and say where's the problem? It's me, it's us…I'm one of these almost going extinct members of the Republican Party that still believes in fiscal prudence, still believes and in cutting spendings this small government free market conservative. But unfortunately, that's not how all of my colleagues feel."

Burlison argues that the GOP has a fundamental messaging problem and has urged his colleagues to zero in on their economic pitch to the American public, with a particular focus on the healthcare crisis:

"So, in my opinion, it's not enough to run against a platform. If you have to provide a vision to the American people, and if you ask the American voter today, what will the Republican Party do if they're reelected…I don't think that they would know. And so to me, the vision that I would provide is to say, 'we're going to fix healthcare. We're going to make healthcare affordable. We're gonna to make it a free market. The prices are going to be transparent, and you're going to know exactly what you're buying'."

Finally, Burlison has a quick prescription for bringing down pain at the pump tied to the engagement in Iran:

"Well, conservatives, we love cutting taxes and I think that we should be cutting the fuel taxes during this period of time. I would love to eliminate the taxes altogether, but at least it would make sense that during this conflict that we should cut taxes on both gas and diesel until this war is resolved.

"I think that that would have a pretty good impact on people's pocketbooks. I mean you're talking for diesel that would be 40 cents a gallon. That's, that's pretty significant."

Italian PM pushes foreign student cap in classrooms, burqa, niqab ban in schools

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced plans Sept. 20 to introduce legislation capping the number of foreign students in Italian classrooms and banning face-covering garments, including burqas and niqabs, in schools.

The conservative leader said her proposed measures aim to foster integration, preserve Italian cultural identity and ensure that native children do not feel sidelined in the classroom.

"There’s no way that in an Italian classroom, the ones who feel marginalized are Italian children because they have become a minority," Meloni said during a speech to Gioventù Nazionale, the youth wing of her conservative Brothers of Italy party, in Rome, according to reports.

Under the proposal, individual classrooms would have limits on non-Italian students to prevent heavy concentrations in specific districts.

Meloni did not specify the exact cap but said the government would also require mandatory Italian-language lessons for parents of foreign pupils who struggle to integrate.

"For us, anyone who comes to Italy and wants to build their future here must learn our language, understand our culture, and respect our rules," Meloni said, The Associated Press reported.

"It is the only serious way to welcome them."

Students who don't hold Italian citizenship account for around 11.6% of school enrollment nationwide, according to Italy’s Education Ministry cited by the ISMU ETS Foundation.

Under Italian law, children born to foreign parents also do not automatically gain citizenship at birth and must wait until age 18 before they can apply.

Meloni argued that high concentrations of non-native speakers impact the learning process for everyone involved.

"If in a classroom there is only one child who doesn’t understand Italian, it is possible that that child will manage, with the help of his peers and teachers, to learn the language and integrate fast," she said.

"But if these children are many, or even the majority, that’s not integration anymore, that’s abandonment."

The proposed package also targets religious face coverings, explicitly prohibiting burqas and niqabs in educational institutions while permitting other forms of Islamic dress, such as the hijab.

In a series of posts on X on Monday, the Brothers of Italy party reinforced the prime minister’s message:

"Those who choose to build their future in Italy must learn our language, know our culture, and respect our rules.

"School is attended with one's face uncovered. No tradition can impose on a young woman the obligation to hide herself."

Several European neighbors, including France and Belgium, have previously imposed bans on face-coverings in public places, though enforcement and legal frameworks differ.

The proposed Italian legislation is expected to be considered by Italy’s Council of Ministers before being sent to Parliament for consideration.

Meloni, who has led Brothers of Italy since 2014 and served as president of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party from 2020 to 2025, has governed Italy since 2022.

ESPN deserves credit for pushing back on Dan Le Batard’s false accusation of racism

ESPN published a statement in response to former employee Dan Le Batard accusing the network of harboring a pro-White racial bias.

"[Le Batard's accusation] is simply an inaccurate and irresponsible characterization of ESPN, our talent and our talent leadership," the network said in a statement to Awful Announcing. "ESPN has the deepest and most diverse roster of commentators in the industry, bringing a wide range of expertise, experiences and perspectives to our coverage. We are proud of the team we have built and will continue investing in new voices."

For background, Le Batard claimed last week that ESPN "only" pays and elevates White on-air commentators. He cited recent contract extensions for Joe Buck, Pat McAfee, Josh Pate, Rich Eisen, the Golics, Jason Kelce and Peter Schrager.

The claim is demonstrably false.

The claim is demonstrably false.

Last week, OutKick documented several examples contradicting Le Batard’s accusation. We asked him for comment and highlighted the hypocrisy of his criticism. Le Batard runs his own media company, Meadowlark Media, which employs a staff made up almost entirely of White men.

He did not respond to our inquiry.

To advance his argument, Le Batard disregarded the substantial evidence that contradicts it. He listed the White commentators ESPN has paid and elevated while omitting the many Black talents who have received lucrative contracts and significant promotions in recent years.

That list includes Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, Malika Andrews, Monica McNutt, Marcus Spears, Jason McCourty, Kendrick Perkins and many others.

In fact, viewers are far more likely to encounter an all-Black cast of commentators on ESPN — including in the network’s WNBA studio programming — than the reverse.

It appears Le Batard is less concerned with racial balance than he is with the fact that ESPN no longer excludes White people from its promotion process, as it once did.

Between 2020 and 2023, talent agents acknowledged that White clients, particularly White men, were effectively ineligible for promotion because of diversity initiatives.

It is unusual for a media network to respond publicly to criticism of this nature. ESPN nevertheless deserves credit for directly addressing Le Batard’s accusations.

For too long, the targets of baseless racism accusations have allowed them to go unanswered. That silence has enabled grifting racial ideologues like Le Batard to make such claims with increasing regularity.

He likely did not expect ESPN to respond by exposing the weakness of his argument.

That said, one must question whether Le Batard’s strategy will ultimately succeed. ESPN management is, if nothing else, reactionary. Nothing appears to frighten the network more than accusations of racism, even when they are unfounded, as they almost always are.

Consider, for example, ESPN executive Burke Magnus re-hiring Stan Verrett, despite all his unprofessional tweets, seemingly in response to Ryan Clark blaming racism for why Magnus fired him. (Note: Racism was not why Magnus fired Clark.)

We would not be surprised if Magnus responds to Le Batard’s similarly dishonest accusations by overpaying and over-elevating random Black talents.

Perhaps he will look to bring back Mark Jones or Jemele Hill as further evidence that he is willing to rehire people whose primary contribution is racial grievance. We would not doubt it.

Magnus wants to prove he is not a racist (even though he clearly isn't one).

But if he had a backbone, he would continue moving ESPN toward a meritocratic system and let hypocrites like Le Batard preach about diversity while running a media company staffed almost exclusively with white men.

Lindsay Clancy defense files motion to dismiss under double jeopardy grounds, with focus on holdout juror

Lindsay Clancy's defense has filed a double jeopardy motion seeking to have the three first-degree murder charges she faces for the strangling deaths of her young children dismissed.

Attorney Martin Weinberg, who also represented Karen Read in her double jeopardy claim, filed a motion for Clancy Monday raising claims under the Fifth, Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments. Read's claim failed, but she was later acquitted of all homicide-related charges in her second trial.

Weinberg argued that there was no "manifest necessity" to declare a mistrial on Sept. 4 "given the absence of judicial inquiry regarding repeated reports that one juror was refusing to apply the Court's instructions regarding reasonable doubt."

The jury split 11-1, with only the holdout wanting to find her guilty. The others were in favor of finding her not criminally responsible for the children's deaths after Clancy's defense claimed she suffered from postpartum psychosis.

LINDSAY CLANCY HOLDOUT JUROR MAKES NEW PROMISE AS LAWYER WARNS OF PUBLIC ATTACKS

Judge William Sullivan previously overruled a defense motion to have the holdout juror dismissed and replaced with an alternate, saying he felt it was not appropriate for him to get involved in the deliberations.

"The jury twice informed the Court that one of its members was refusing to apply the Court's instructions regarding the fundamental concept of reasonable doubt," Weinberg wrote. "After the first such report, the Court asked each juror individually whether he or she was able to apply the law. Upon receiving the second report, the Court tempered its response even further, simply reminding all jurors as a group of their obligation to follow its instructions generally. The Court denied Ms. Clancy's explicit requests to go further."

Weinberg's motion argued that Sullivan's decision to declare a mistrial before investigating the holdout is improper, alleging that the jury foreperson accused the holdout of making "statements acknowledging doubt but refus[ing] to apply it to the verdict as the law states."

"Ms. Clancy, like all criminal defendants, had a Constitutional right to have her fate decided by an impartial jury of her peers, faithfully applying the law as instructed rather than superimposing the juror's own view of legal right and wrong, including the foundational principle that, absent proof beyond a reasonable doubt of her guilt, she must be acquitted," he wrote. "The multiple reports of a juror violating this bedrock principle, therefore, required a judicial inquiry sufficient to ascertain whether her right to an impartial jury was being violated."

Weinberg also argued that there was a legal basis for conducting a probe into the holdout before the mistrial was declared. However, Sullivan did not hold one.

LINDSAY CLANCY MISTRIAL DECLARED AFTER JURY DEADLOCKS IN KILLINGS OF HER THREE CHILDREN

On Friday, Clancy's trial attorney Kevin Reddington called for an investigation into the holdout juror who wanted to find her guilty of murder charges in connection with the strangling deaths of her three young children.

"[The other jurors] know that they were robbed — by one man — for whatever his agenda was, who stole seven weeks of the life of these other jurors that were so attentive, so beautiful, so wonderful and listened to this evidence," he told reporters after leaving the courthouse following her mistrial.

Reddington is asking a Massachusetts judge to preserve juror records from all 12 panelists and six alternates, including their questionnaires, courthouse hallway surveillance video taken outside the deliberation room and sign-in sheets for the jurors' cellphones.

Reddington is asking the court to conduct a "limited inquiry" into the holdout and for information on any potential background checks stemming from a February motion for access to prospective juror information filed by Plymouth County prosecutors.

He's also seeking the holdout's juror questionnaire and any supplemental filings, probation records and "Juror Doe's record from the statewide domestic violence registry." He is asking the judge to require prosecutors to divulge whether it has had any contact with the holdout as a defendant, complainant or subject going back to January 2021.

Additionally, Reddington is looking for the holdout's phone records between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on each deliberation day and asking for the court to order an independent examination into his phone use during the deliberation period.

Lastly, he wants the holdout to be grilled regarding the truthfulness of his juror questionnaire and voir dire answers, his statements to the court on Sept. 3, and the use of a phone or outside information during deliberations.

Prosecutors have not yet officially announced whether they'll seek a new trial for Clancy, who faces three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

Austin ICE shooting sparks fight over Venezuelan illegal immigrant's deportation

One of the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights groups called Monday for the Venezuelan illegal immigrant who was shot during an ICE pursuit in Austin to not be deported, arguing he is a key witness in the investigation into officers' use of force.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) made the statements Monday afternoon after an agent shot and wounded Wilber Rafael Garces Perez during a traffic stop. Garces Perez was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. The shooting sparked protests in Austin and calls from local officials for an independent investigation.

"Wilber is a victim of the shooting and the most important witness to it. You do not deport the key witness to your own officers' use of force," LULAC CEO Juan Peruano said.

According to Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, the attorney for Garces Perez and his wife, Garces Perez was delivering DoorDash when an "unmarked black truck sideswiped him."

She said he did not know the vehicle was operated by ICE and subsequently made a U-turn under the highway before the agents continued to pursue him.

"The truck chased him and sideswiped him again. And the agents came out and shot him in the back of the neck and pulled him out of the car," Lincoln-Goldfinch said.

Lincoln-Goldfinch also claimed Garces Perez did not receive sufficient medical care, and the bullet remained lodged hours after the shooting.

"We learned that at 4:00 he still had a bullet lodged in his back. He was shot here in his back, and they didn't take the bullet out, and they didn't give him pain medication. And they transferred him to ICE, to a processing center, where he spent the night without a bed," Lincoln-Goldfinch said. "There is absolutely zero justification for having shot him in the back of the neck. And this is why we're calling for a stop to ICE traffic stops. ICE officers are over armed, overpaid, under trained and violent. They don't know how to safely conduct traffic stops."

According to his attorney, Garces Perez had a work permit and was seeking asylum after entering the U.S. in 2024 through the CBP One app, which the Biden administration expanded to allow migrants to request asylum at ports of entry.

His attorney claimed he received a removal order after a notice for his immigration hearing was sent to his old address, despite him having updated his address with the court.

"He changed his address with the immigration court, and a notice of hearing was sent to his old address. He didn't know he had a hearing. He didn't go. And so he got a deportation order in absentia, which is a very common thing," she said. "The court is notorious for sending notices of hearings to the wrong address. So it appears that that is what happened with him. That's why he has a removal order. We are working on that."

According to the Austin Police Department, hundreds of protesters gathered Sunday evening following the ICE operation, throwing rocks, bottles and pieces of concrete. Three police vehicles were damaged, and multiple officers sustained minor injuries, officials said.

At least three people were arrested for rioting, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, or a combination of the charges. The individuals were identified as Robert Padgett, 48; Armando Menagarcia, 29; and Matthew Hemby, 44.

Lincoln-Goldfinch further to condemned the accounts provided by federal agents, claiming ICE officials do not tell the truth.

"We are fed up with ICE and DHS telling us lies about what has happened in these incidents where people are being murdered and shot," she said.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett echoed Lincoln-Goldfinch's assertions, claiming that federal immigration officials often lie.

"ICE has no credibility anymore. It lies. We know it lies. We've seen it demonstrated again and again, and we need the kind of independent structure to demand some accountability," he said.

DHS sources confirmed to Fox News on Sunday that Garces Perez is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela with a final order of removal.

DHS said Garces Perez illegally entered the United States under the Biden administration. The agency said he was shot during a law enforcement operation.

"The illegal alien's condition is stable, and he is in federal custody pending removal," DHS added on X.

Months before his death, Presley Gerber shared a raw look at his battle with addiction and the treatment he hoped would help him find his way back to himself.

In March, the model — who died unexpectedly in a rehab facility on Sunday — posted a video of himself preparing to undergo an "ibogaine flood dose," a psychedelic treatment, at a wellness clinic in Cancún, Mexico.

According to Stanford Medicine, ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychedelic derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub. It has "gained interest from the medical and scientific communities for its potential to treat opioid and cocaine addiction, and research has suggested that it increases signaling of several important molecules within the brain, some of which have been linked to drug addiction and depression."

The treatment is legal in some countries, but not in the United States.

Gerber died Sept. 20 at age 27 while staying at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

The model's cause of death was "deferred," according to online records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

The medical examiner told Fox News Digital that "the investigation is still ongoing and there is limited information available."

Santa Monica Police Department officials are investigating the death as "a suspected overdose," according to a release from the department.

A representative for the family told Fox News Digital, "The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time."

Gerber’s post was one of several instances in which he publicly documented his recovery journey. In recent years, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber spoke candidly about depression, panic attacks, addiction and the challenges of seeking treatment.

During a 2023 episode of the "Studio 22" podcast, Gerber discussed his experiences with depression and other mental health challenges.

"[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it," he said.

"That’s really what I want to do is help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body," he continued. "I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment."

Gerber said he hoped his experiences could help other people avoid making similar mistakes.

"I’ve seen a lot of stuff, and I’ve learned a lot of things," he said. "What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made."

He also explained why he wanted to be open about his mental health journey.

"Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do," Gerber said.

Gerber also used social media to encourage conversations about depression, addiction and men’s mental health. In 2024, he launched "Mental Health Mondays," a series focused on recovery and emotional well-being.

In a November 2025 Instagram post, Gerber said he had temporarily stepped away from social media to focus on his own mental health.

"It’s been a minute since I’ve posted — I had to step back and take care of my own mental health for a bit," he wrote.

"But I’m coming back soon — stronger, clearer, more intentional than ever," he added.

Gerber said the goal of the series was to encourage people to discuss the issues they often kept hidden.

"When I started Mental Health Mondays, the goal was to spark real conversations about the stuff most people hide," he wrote. "It’s been incredible seeing how far that message has spread and how many people it’s helped."

He added, "I’m proud that something I created has inspired others and started a bigger movement around openness and healing."

Gerber also spoke openly about the medications he was taking and the panic attacks he experienced. In a since-deleted Instagram video posted in December 2025, he said he had been taking several medications, including buprenorphine, Xanax and Valium, according to People.

"Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I’m where I’m at now," he said.

Gerber explained that he hoped the video would help people feel less alone.

"One, so you feel like you’re not alone, because that is how I feel most of the time," he said. "And I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it."

"And the second thing is, hopefully, I find some people out here willing to help or know someone that can help," he added.

The outlet reported that Gerber said he had seen approximately 15 psychiatrists and wanted more structure and direction in his treatment.

"I need some direction," he said, according to People.

Throughout his recovery, Gerber’s parents and sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber, publicly supported his efforts to seek treatment.

After he shared the post about his ibogaine treatment, Crawford commented, "You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!"

Rande wrote, "I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength, and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much."

Kaia also commented, "That’s my brother. I am so damn proud."

In an August Vogue cover story, Kaia spoke about what the magazine described as her brother's "decade-long struggle with drug addiction" and the impact it had on their family.

"When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone," Kaia said.

"I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help," she continued. "Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing."

Kaia also praised her brother for being open about his struggles despite the family’s traditionally private nature.

"My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’" she said.

Craig Carton roasts Bears' Caleb Williams for emotional reaction to hamstring injury against Vikings

Chicago Bears fans didn’t know how to react as they watched their franchise quarterback Caleb Williams drag his right leg while being supported by two staffers during the loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

After watching Williams’ reaction on the field, as well as his cart ride to the locker room where he was clearly emotional with a towel over his head and pumping his fist up to the crowd, it was right to expect the worst.

But Williams doesn’t have a season-ending injury like initially thought. Instead, he’s considered "week-to-week," according to head coach Ben Johnson, with a right hamstring injury. An MRI on Monday was conducted to assess the severity of the strain, and though Johnson doesn’t expect him to practice this week, he hasn’t ruled him out completely for Week 3.

Williams’ reaction to the injury has quickly become a punchline on social media, and OutKick’s Craig Carton went full tilt on the Bears’ quarterback for it during "The Craig Carton Show."

"I don’t quite understand why people immediately thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s his Achilles.’ Oh, that’s right – it’s because he acted like it," Carton said. "He went down like he tore his Achilles. He went down like he tore his ACL, and sadly when we see non-contact injuries, that’s typically the first thing we think.

"The way Caleb reacted it was like doubling down on an 11 against a six. It was like, ‘Oh my God, Caleb Williams is acting and reacting like he tore his Achilles or he blew up his knee.’ He’s crying. He can’t get off the field on his own power. And then he’s got the proverbial Gatorade towel covering his face. ‘I don’t want my momma to see me like this. I don’t want people to see me like this.’ Then, as they were driving him off the field, this has become a thing – it’s usually for guys you’re worried have a significant neck injury or he might be paralyzed. Then, a brave man who raises his hand and gives a fist to the crowd, or maybe the thumbs up like, ‘I’m going to be OK, Billy!’"

Johnson said that he anticipates Williams to be sidelined for "some time," but this wasn’t even a season-ending injury on his end. Of course, there’s no telling what type of pain Williams felt, or what was going through his mind.

However, Carton believes that Bears fans, a group filled with tradition, blue-collar identity and grit, wouldn’t be rooting for their starting quarterback if he weren’t on their team.

"He acted like his career ended, and that’s why as good a quarterback as he might be one day. And damn it, in Week 1, he looked fantastic putting a 59 burger up on the board. The reality is this: you’re going to root for him because you have no choice if you’re a Bears fan. You’re not going to root for him because you like him," Carton explained. "You’re not going to root for him because he encapsulates what the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears should encapsulate, like a Jim McMahon. A man’s man. When you think Chicago, you think Mike Ditka, you think Brian Urlacher. …You think men’s men, right?

"So, you’re going to like him because you have no choice. He’s your starting quarterback. And when you act like that when you’re not hurt that badly, it brings a lot of dudes back to, ‘Oh, I never trusted him when he painted his fingernails pink.’ That’s the problem. Caleb Williams, I think, is going to be a damn good quarterback for a long time. But he’s never really truly going to resonate with a Bears football fan, because he’s never going to be one of you. He’s never going to act like the man that you want him to act like."

Carton added that it "doesn’t’ mean he’s a bad guy, doesn’t mean he’s not a great quarterback." But he is certain Williams went way too far with his injury in Sunday’s loss, in front of a sold-out Soldier Field in rainy conditions.

Bears fans, though, will be happy their season hopes are still alive with Williams not expected to be on the sideline for the remainder of the year.
