Meet the far-left socialists coming to Congress next year

Several DSA members heading to the House of Representatives have threatened to withhold support for Hakeem Jeffries as speaker of the House

As House Democratic leaders prepare to take the reins of power in Congress, they are also poised to reckon with far-left rebels who could make their lives difficult over the next two years.

Democrats are projected to win back the House majority after Tuesday night’s midterm elections.

It comes after a far-left insurgency roiled Democrats' primary elections, and some of those socialist candidates are now expected to be heading to Capitol Hill next year.

RISING SOCIALIST STARS ON TRACK TO CONGRESS: WHO ARE DARIALIZA AVILA CHEVALIER, BRAD LANDER AND CLAIRE VALDEZ?

Darializa Avila Chevalier, New York

Darializa Avila Chevalier is projected to be the next House representative from New York's 13th congressional district, which covers Upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx.

Chevalier's victory comes after she scored an upset victory over Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., amid an anti-incumbent wave that swept Empire State elections.

Born in Florida to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic, she moved to New York City to attend Columbia University for her undergraduate degree.

Chevalier has already earned criticism from her future Republican colleagues for past comments, including a now-deleted post on X, then Twitter, where she purportedly wrote, "I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me."

She's notably withheld support from Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., to be the next speaker of the House, telling Vanity Fair she would need certain "commitments" on progressive issues like Medicare for All.

JEFFRIES WELCOMES DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS INTO THE FOLD AS CRITICS WARN PARTY IS REVEALING 'EXACTLY WHO IT IS'

Claire Valdez, New York

Claire Valdez is another member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) who scored an upset victory during New York's primaries, defeating a Democrat backed by retiring Rep. Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y., for the party's nomination.

MAMDANI-BACKED SOCIALIST WINS IN NEW YORK EXPOSE GROWING RIFT BETWEEN DEMOCRATIC ESTABLISHMENT, INSURGENT LEFT

Valdez is now projected to take over Velázquez's seat in New York's 7th congressional district, which includes parts of Brooklyn and Queens.

Valdez is currently a member of the New York State Assembly. On her campaign website, she touts herself as a "dual citizen of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Nation and the United States."

She also has not confirmed whether she will support Jeffries for speaker, telling New York Magazine she would not "negotiate in public" but that she would "see how the midterms shake out."

CARVILLE WARNS DEMOCRATS MAY NEED TO BLOCK FAR-LEFT CANDIDATES FROM JOINING CAUCUS, MODERATE GROUP DISAGREES

Donavan McKinney, Michigan

Donavan McKinney in Michigan's 13th congressional district is another beneficiary of the anti-incumbency backlash during the 2026 election cycle. He's now projected to come to Congress after earlier defeating Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., in the primaries.

McKinney is a DSA member and was backed by other prominent socialists like Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.

The district he is poised to represent includes part of Detroit and its suburbs.

He recently told Jacobin Magazine that his biggest policy goals include Medicare for All, universal childcare and getting corporate money out of elections.

Also in the interview, he accused his primary opponent of having taken campaign cash from Immigration and Customs Enforcement contractors, the pro-Israel lobby and other corporate interests.

Israel had been the defining issue in his primary campaign. Thanedar was a former DSA member who left the organization over members' celebrations of the Oct. 7 terror attack by Hamas.

DSA-BACKED CANDIDATES ARE WINNING PRIMARIES AND THEIR VISION FOR AMERICA IS VERY DIFFERENT

Melat Kiros, Colorado

Melat Kiros is a DSA member and former attorney whose upset victory in Colorado's 1st congressional district is forcing an end to longtime Rep. Diana DeGette's political career.

DeGette, D-Colo., a progressive who has been in Congress since 1997, lost her Denver-area seat in a shocking primary loss to Kiros, a 29-year-old political newcomer.

Kiros was born in Ethiopia "just weeks before her father was selected by the United States' Diversity Visa Lottery," according to her campaign website.

She's drawn controversy for her fierce anti-Israel stance, which includes calling the Oct. 7 terror attack by Hamas an "inevitable" result of the Jewish country's own actions, according to multiple reports. She has also opposed its existence as a Jewish state.

Kiros is also among those who will not commit to supporting Jeffries for speaker.

GOP LAWMAKER URGES JOHNSON TO SCRUTINIZE NEW SOCIALIST LAWMAKERS' 'ACCESS TO INTELLIGENCE'

Chris Rabb, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania state lawmaker Chris Rabb is poised to enter the House of Representatives to represent the state's 3rd congressional district next year.

The Democratic socialist has called for the U.S. to "immediately dismantle the military industrial complex, cease all imperialist foreign policy, and end all U.S.-led efforts for regime-change," according to his campaign website.

Rabb has also called for a universal basic income for Americans as well as guaranteed housing, high-speed internet, free transit and "national grocery stores."

He previously took aim at establishment Democrats in an interview with CBS' "Face the Nation" in August, saying, "I think listening to folks who have been institutionalists and corporate Dems is probably the wrong thing to do when what your own poll shows is that there is an exhaustion."

Brad Lander, New York

Former New York City comptroller Brad Lander is no longer a DSA member, having left the organization over its response to the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.

But his campaign was backed by some of the DSA's biggest stars, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Lander's campaign for New York's 10th congressional district, which includes downtown Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, served as a proxy battle between the Empire State's establishment left and socialist factions.

While Lander was backed by Mamdani, his primary opponent, Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., was backed by Jeffries. Lander also campaigned alongside Chevalier and Valdez.

While he left the DSA over Israel, Lander has still been a fierce critic of the Jewish state. He was recently detained by Israeli law enforcement during a trip to the occupied West Bank to join Palestinian olive farmers harvesting their crop. Israeli authorities released him upon learning his identity.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Unlike his far-left New York cohorts, however, Lander has said he is inclined to support Jeffries for speaker.

JASON CHAFFETZ: Five timeless political lessons that got lost in 2026

From candidate quality to primary election integrity, the basics of campaigning still work when parties stop taking shortcuts

While the leadership of the House and Senate is changing, the fundamentals of American politics have not. In all the finger pointing that will ensue over the coming weeks, some things should already be clear. Regardless of where the last ballots fall, the basic principles of American politics remain the same.

Voters still respond to the same things they always have. As Republicans look to 2028, they must double down on the basics of campaigning that stand the test of time.

1. Candidate quality matters. Fielding the better candidate is not optional. It may not always be definitive, but it is foundational. A candidate who cannot connect with people, articulate a positive vision of the future or run a disciplined campaign operation will eventually be vulnerable. Celebrity, political dynasties, comfortable incumbents or last-minute appointments do not automatically translate into votes.

LIZ PEEK: THERE MAY BE A SILVER LINING IN TRUMP'S BRUTAL MIDTERM DEFEAT

2. Results must be felt. A majority is judged by outcomes people can feel, not by legislative talking points. The Senate had two years. Voters do not grade on process. They grade on whether prices at the pump and the grocery store stopped rising, whether their communities felt safe and whether the problems they voted to fix in 2024 actually got fixed. A Senate that refuses to build on the work of the House, maximize judicial appointments or secure the president’s signature election security promise is asking for a loss. Excuses do not win midterms. Outcomes do. A majority that is perpetually in recess and does not deliver consistent results should expect to pay dearly. That is neither new nor complicated.

3. Volume is not a strategy. Too much money is spent on strategies with too little value, often in ways that simply annoy voters. Exaggerated attack ads that no one believes, incessant text messages that interrupt dinner and uninvited fundraising solicitations that clog up inboxes do not persuade people. They irritate them. Voters have learned to tune out the noise and campaigns that treat volume as a strategy end up wasting money while making the people they need less likely to listen. Consultants who still measure success by how many times they can hit the same voter are not helping their candidates. They are training people to ignore them.

4. Candidate choice is a local decision. Primaries exist for a reason. Putting a finger on the scale for a candidate the voters have not fully affirmed is a recipe for disaster. Democrats learned that the hard way when they elevated Kamala Harris without a real primary contest. Republicans got a reminder this cycle in South Carolina, where Darline Graham was appointed to her late brother’s seat and then heavily backed through the primary process. She won the nomination, but voters in a deep-red state ultimately rejected the candidate who had been chosen for them. Skipping or short-circuiting the primary process does not protect the seat. It risks it.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

5. Endorsements do not win or lose races. They matter when you are nobody trying to become somebody. For federal office, most voters do not care about the long list of endorsements. They look at the candidate standing in front of them and the message that candidate is offering. National figures, party committees and celebrity names generate headlines and fundraising, but they rarely move the final margin the way candidates and consultants claim. Campaigns waste too much time chasing them. Voters make their own decisions and do so primarily on authenticity and plans for the future.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

These are not complicated ideas. They have worked for decades. They still work. The question is whether the people running campaigns will treat them as optional again or whether they will finally stop looking for shortcuts that keep failing.

MLB owners are back with a new salary cap proposal to shut down sport even after Brewers win World Series

The league proposed starting a cap and floor system in 2028, a year later than originally planned

We're now less than a month away from the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Major League Baseball Players Association and the league's owners, with a lockout a near-guarantee starting in early December.

For months, owners and the league office have been promoting the lockout to fans as necessary to address the sport's imaginary competitive balance problems. That this lockout wouldn't be like the others, because baseball needs a salary cap, the league said.

The gap in spending, the marketing campaign went, made it impossible for small market teams to compete thanks to the disparity in payroll. Fast-forward to the end of the 2026 World Series, and it's hard to imagine an argument aging worse than that one.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS BROKE BASEBALL ON THEIR WAY TO REMARKABLY DOMINANT WORLD SERIES RUN

The Milwaukee Brewers, who ranked 19th in team payroll in 2026, completed one of the most dominant postseason runs in the history of baseball. They went 11-2 in October, with their two losses coming by a combined total of two runs. Not two losses by two runs each, literally two runs total. They swept the high-powered Los Angeles Dodgers, never once seeming in doubt of losing a game, let alone the series.

They were three outs away from sweeping the World Series and becoming the first team in history to go undefeated in the NLCS and World Series. Even after blowing that lead with Shane Drohan, they easily handled game five behind likely Cy Young winner Jacob Misiorowski.

It was an obliteration. Oh, and that team they played in the World Series? The Tampa Bay Rays, the team with the 28th highest payroll. The team Tampa beat to advance to the World Series? The Cleveland Guardians, who ranked 30th in the league in payroll. Dead last.

The New York Yankees didn't reach the ALCS, and by October 2027, it'll be 18 years since their last World Series title. The Mets didn't even come close to reaching the playoffs, and haven't been remotely near a championship since Steve Cohen took over and raised payrolls to the highest in the league. Philadelphia didn't reach the World Series, losing in the wild card series. And the Toronto Blue Jays finished in last place.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

The timing couldn't have been worse for the owners, now hoping to make their case for a salary cap after the 2026 season showed how little need there is for it.

Instead? On Tuesday afternoon, they pushed for a salary cap yet again, publicly releasing a new proposal that would start their cap and floor system a year later, in 2028.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

"We recognize that clubs will need a full offseason to prepare to operate within the cap and floor system," said MLB spokesman Glen Caplin, per MLB.com. "Therefore, with this offseason already underway, we proposed today to begin the cap and floor system in 2028. This proposal would allow a smoother transition into the cap and floor system without delaying key player benefits, including earlier free agency, a $1 million minimum salary, a 30% increase to the pre-arbitration bonus pool, and transactional reform that will reduce roster churn.

"The projected salary cap and floor for 2028 continues to provide more money for Major League players while leveling the playing field and giving more teams the ability to participate in the free-agent market and retain their homegrown stars so that every fan believes their team has a fair chance to win it all."

A statement so thoroughly disconnected from reality, it makes you wonder if the league office has been watching political ads for ideas.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER

In response, the Players Association predictably stated that the cap system is a non-starter, while correctly identifying that the cap proposal is there for one reason, and one reason only: to make owners more money.

OUTKICK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE FOX NEWS APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

Details of the proposed cap and floor system are complicated, but suffice it to say, the league's contention is absurd and would have nothing to do with competitive balance.

The floor, a proposed "$180 million," shows how much money small market owners are currently pocketing. That figure would correspond to an increase of tens of millions, if not over $100 million dollars more than teams like the Guardians and Rays are spending. Yes, the cap would require more revenue sharing, but by the league's own admission, there are 12 teams that need to increase their "payroll" by $636 million combined to get to the floor. There isn't enough revenue sharing from the Dodgers or Mets to increase that would cover that difference.

Which demonstrates that these owners are simply spending much less than they can already afford. They're choosing not to, because it's so much easier for the fans, and they complain about small markets instead.

Obviously, as 2026 demonstrated, there is no argument to be made that competitive balance requires a cap. The Dodgers, for their market size and payrolls, are 3-14 in their last 17 attempts at winning a World Series. A New York team hasn't won since 2009, and the Mets are up to 40 years since their last title, the seventh-longest streak in baseball.

The Padres have paid into the luxury tax for years now, and their reward is one win in the NLCS.

But all these mistakes are the real issue: baseball has no competitive balance problem, because the gaps between teams are so small that competitive balance can never actually be a problem. For some perspective, in the NBA, the better team wins a best-of-seven series roughly 80% of the time. In order for that to happen in MLB, the series would have to be a best-of-75.

The Dodgers had a $250 million payroll advantage over Milwaukee, and a 58-42% probability of winning in the series in pre-NLCS projections. They'd have had a similar advantage over the Guardians or Rays. It's just not possible to predict baseball, or buy it, because there's a limit to how much better one team can be than another.

Where this should end up is that the big revenue teams like the Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees pay more in revenue sharing, with strict controls and oversight on how small market teams are allowed to spend it. Teams like the Marlins have avoided spending on players by taking advantage of a loophole in the rules that can go towards things like improvements to facilities. The Pirates went a decade between signing free agents to multi-year contracts, and even then it was two years. Owner Bob Nutting just doesn't care very much.

Instead, we're jeopardizing the future growth of the sport in order to increase the Pirates' franchise valuation from $2.4 billion to $2.57 billion.

Good stuff.

Christian Yelich hopes 2027 MLB season starts on time as CBA expiration looms over baseball

Yelich shared optimism with OutKick after winning Brewers' first-ever World Series title

Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers won’t remotely think about the 2027 MLB season right now after winning the franchise’s first-ever World Series.

However, this is a pivotal offseason for baseball, as the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) ends on Dec. 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Until a new CBA is agreed upon, there will be no MLB season in 2027.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

Will that actually happen? It’s a possibility, but when asked if he’s optimistic about the season starting on time, Yelich gave the glass-half-full approach.

"Yeah. You know, that’s the goal, obviously," he told OutKick before celebrating once more with Brewers fans, this time during a victory "shift" at Raising Cane’s in Greendale, Wisconsin. "It’s going to be an interesting offseason here. We’ll just see what happens.

"But yeah, I think that would be awesome. I think that’s what everybody’s hoping for."

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

Yelich told the Associated Press prior to the Brewers clinching the title in Game 5 that he thinks the "game’s in a great spot right now," and it would be "a shame if we miss time."

But that’s the reality of the situation, which Yelich knows all about after the last CBA was agreed upon in March 2022. There was a point throughout those winter months when it looked like neither side – the owners and players – would budge on their demands. The deal was eventually done, but weeks of spring training were missed before the 2022 regular season started on April 7 rather than March 31.

When that happened, teams didn’t stop inking players to new contracts, shelling out a collective billion-plus in salaries, with deals including the Minnesota Twins’ Byron Buxton, Texas Rangers’Corey Seager and Toronto Blue Jays’ Kevin Gausman. This year, top free agents include Tarik Skubal, Freddy Peralta, Seiya Suzuki and Michael King, among others.

Players definitely want clubs to continue spending money, as that is the crux of the biggest debate on the table between the two sides. For the owners, a salary and floor cap proposal is what they want to cut down the disparity found in payrolls across the league.

On the flip side, the players have viewed a salary cap and floor as a non-starter, believing instead that there should be expanded free agency and salary arbitration rights for themselves, along with a bigger league minimum salary. They’ve also proposed having a tax for teams who fail to keep payrolls at a certain floor, basically promoting spending overall.

Yelich was just part of a Brewers team that won 103 regular-season games and were middle of the pack in payroll. Their opponent, the Tampa Bay Rays, had a bottom-three payroll and had the best record in the American League this season.

ALEX RODRIGUEZ DEFENDS DODGERS' SPENDING SPREE AS LIKELY LOCKOUT GETS CLOSER: 'I THINK IT'S GREAT'

MLB is the only major pro sports league in the U.S. without a salary cap, with the NFL, NBA and NHL implementing them. In 2022, differences were amended, but some believe this time around will be much harder.

The MLBPA also has a change in leadership, with Tony Clark forced out and Bruce Meyer, a former All-Star infielder, taking over. He was the one who led the players’ negotiation last time around, so he has the prowess to fight hard for what his side wants. At the same time, owners and commissioner Rob Manfred seem steadfast in their beliefs.

OUTKICK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE FOX NEWS APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

When Dec. 2 rolls around, we’ll know for certain if a lockout is in place, but the real question is whether it will persist through the start of the regular season.

As Yelich said, he feels everyone wants baseball to start on time, but if things get ugly at the negotiating table, players might be seeing a situation like 1994.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER

Apple's first touchscreen MacBook comes at a price

Apple finally brings touch, OLED technology to the MacBook Pro, but with prices starting at $2,899, is the upgrade worth it?

Apple has finally given the MacBook Pro something many people have wanted for years: a touchscreen. The company unveiled its first touchscreen MacBook Pro on Oct. 28, introducing a new way to interact with its laptop. It also brings a stunning OLED display, a thinner design and some serious processing power. However, there's one detail that might make you think twice before reaching for your wallet. The new touchscreen MacBook Pro starts at $2,899.

That's a lot of money for a laptop, even by Apple's standards. So, what exactly are you getting for that price? More importantly, will touching your MacBook's screen make enough of a difference to justify an upgrade? Let's look at what Apple has introduced and who might benefit most.

Missed CyberGuy LIVE? Meanwhile, Windows laptop owners have enjoyed touchscreen options for a long time. Apple even experimented with touch controls through its Touch Bar, but that feature never replaced the traditional laptop experience.

Now Apple has changed course. Its new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display lets you interact directly with the screen. You can scroll through websites with your finger or pinch to zoom into photos. Apple also lets you drag content between windows and interact with supported creative apps.

Think about how often you instinctively touch your laptop screen, especially after spending years using an iPhone or iPad. Now that gesture will actually do something on the new MacBook Pro. Apple also redesigned the hinge to keep the display steadier when you touch it. That's a thoughtful addition because nobody wants a screen wobbling every time they tap a button.

However, this remains a traditional laptop. It doesn't fold into a tablet, and it doesn't support Apple Pencil. You'll still use the keyboard and trackpad for much of your work. That may disappoint anyone hoping to replace both a MacBook and an iPad with one device.

The OLED display could be the bigger story

While everyone is talking about the touchscreen, Apple's new display technology might have an even greater impact on your everyday experience. The company calls it the PROLED XDR Display, and it uses tandem OLED technology. Unlike traditional laptop screens that rely on a backlight, OLED pixels produce their own light. That allows the display to show deep blacks alongside bright highlights without the same backlight glow.

Apple says the new screen reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness for both HDR and SDR content. It also delivers a claimed 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz for smoother motion. Those numbers sound impressive, but what will you actually notice?

Photos should look more vibrant, especially when you're viewing pictures taken on your iPhone. Movies can show more detail in dark scenes. If you edit videos or work with photography, the improved color accuracy could be especially useful.

Apple has also added an antireflective coating to help reduce glare. An optional nano-texture finish provides additional reflection control for people who work in bright environments. For someone who spends hours looking at a laptop screen, these improvements could be more valuable than touch alone.

A touchscreen MacBook Pro with serious processing power

Apple isn't holding back on performance. The new touchscreen MacBook Pro comes with either an M5 Pro or M5 Max processor. Both target people who need more processing power than a basic laptop typically provides. If you're editing high-resolution video or working with large photo libraries, these chips are designed to handle that workload. Apple also offers configurations with up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage. However, those upgrades can drive the price considerably higher.

The new MacBook Pro runs macOS 27 and includes Apple Intelligence alongside Apple's upgraded Siri AI. It also brings Dynamic Island to the Mac for the first time. That familiar feature from the iPhone sits near the top of the display and gives you access to live updates and useful controls. For video calls, Apple includes a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera. Meanwhile, an upgraded six-speaker system promises deeper bass. The laptop also includes Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and an HDMI port, which should appeal to people connecting external displays.

12 BIGGEST APPLE WWDC 2026 TAKEAWAYS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Apple's new MacBook Pro is thinner and lighter

One concern with touchscreen laptops is whether all that additional technology makes them heavier. Apple says it has managed to move in the opposite direction. The new 14-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro weighs about three pounds, roughly half a pound less than its predecessor. The 16-inch model comes in at four pounds, approximately 0.7 pounds lighter. Both models also feature slimmer designs. That should make carrying a MacBook Pro between meetings or packing one for a trip a little easier.

Apple promises up to 24 hours of battery life, depending on the configuration and usage. That's an impressive claim for a machine with this much performance and such a bright display. However, we'll need independent testing to see how battery life holds up during real-world work.

How much does Apple's touchscreen MacBook Pro cost?

Apple has positioned its touchscreen MacBook Pro firmly in premium territory. The 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip starts at $2,899, while the 16-inch version starts at $3,399. If you want the more powerful M5 Max processor, prices jump to $4,499 for the 14-inch model and $4,799 for the 16-inch version. And remember, those are starting prices for each configuration. Adding more memory or storage can increase the total substantially.

There is another important detail. Apple introduced a separate 14-inch MacBook Pro with its newer M6 chip on Oct. 27. That model starts at $1,999, but it uses a Liquid Retina XDR Display without touch support. That means you're looking at a $900 difference between Apple's entry-level M6 MacBook Pro and its least expensive touchscreen model. Of course, the more expensive version also includes an M5 Pro processor and the upgraded OLED display. These are different performance configurations, so the additional $900 doesn't represent the cost of touch alone.

For another perspective, the previous 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip started at $2,499. That makes the new touchscreen version $400 more expensive than its comparable predecessor. Still, this gives you a meaningful choice. You can buy a powerful new MacBook Pro for considerably less if you don't need to interact directly with the screen. We've previously reported on how rising AI chip costs have pushed Apple prices higher. This latest introduction adds another premium option to an already expensive lineup.

Will your favorite Mac apps work with touch?

Apple says many existing Mac apps will respond to touch immediately because macOS can translate finger taps into mouse clicks. That should make basic interaction straightforward, even before developers fully optimize their software. However, Apple's bigger ambition involves creative applications. The company demonstrated touch controls in Final Cut Pro that let editors manipulate clips directly on the screen. Musicians can use Logic Pro to play virtual instruments with their fingers.

Apple also expects third-party apps, including Adobe Lightroom and Microsoft Office applications, to take advantage of the new touch capabilities. That sounds promising. Still, a touchscreen doesn't automatically make every app easier to use. Tiny buttons and crowded menus can be frustrating when you're trying to select something precisely with a finger.

Early hands-on reports suggest that touch works smoothly for common gestures. However, some smaller macOS controls can still be awkward to tap. Those are preliminary impressions rather than findings from extended testing. It will be interesting to see how quickly developers adapt their interfaces and whether people continue using touch regularly after the initial excitement wears off.

Should you upgrade to Apple's touchscreen MacBook Pro?

This is the question I'd ask before spending nearly $3,000. If you already own a relatively recent MacBook Pro that handles everything you throw at it, I wouldn't rush to replace it solely for touchscreen capabilities. A mouse or trackpad still gives you excellent control, especially when you're working on detailed projects.

However, if you edit video professionally or spend your days working with photos, the OLED display could make a real difference. The improved portability also makes the new model appealing to people who regularly travel with demanding workloads. For everyday activities like email and web browsing, a less expensive MacBook Air or standard MacBook Pro will probably be more than enough.

Before making that decision, take a look at our guide explaining how to know when it's time to replace your Mac. A computer that still performs well may have several good years left. You can also explore our best laptops for 2026 at CyberGuy.com to compare other options before committing to Apple's premium model.

One more suggestion: If you're considering the touchscreen MacBook Pro, visit an Apple Store when it becomes available on Nov. 6. Spend some time using the touchscreen alongside the keyboard and trackpad. That hands-on experience could tell you more than any specification sheet.

Pro tip: Don't forget to protect your new MacBook

If you're spending nearly $3,000 on a new MacBook Pro, protecting that investment should be a priority. While macOS includes built-in security features, Macs can still face malicious downloads and online scams. I recommend keeping your software updated and using strong antivirus software for an additional layer of protection. Strong antivirus software can help detect malware and warn you about dangerous websites before they cause trouble. Get my picks for the best 2026 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices at CyberGuy.com.

Kurt's key takeaways

I have to give Apple credit for finally bringing a touchscreen to the MacBook Pro. It feels like a feature that should have arrived years ago, especially when we're all so accustomed to touching the screens on our phones and tablets. I'm also impressed by what Apple is promising with its new OLED display. For people who work with visual content, that could be the most compelling reason to upgrade.

But here's where I hesitate. At $2,899, Apple is asking a lot for a feature that many competing laptops have offered for years. And with the standard M6 MacBook Pro starting at $1,999, there's a pretty compelling argument for saving that extra $900. I want to see how useful touch becomes in everyday work before calling this a must-have upgrade. My advice is to try it in person before spending the money. A touchscreen sounds great, but the real test is whether you still reach for it after the excitement wears off.

Would you pay nearly $3,000 for a touchscreen MacBook Pro?
NBA sits out Election Day yet again while other sports leagues go about business as usual

All 30 teams sat out Tuesday as Democrats took control of Congress in battleground Senate and House races

The NBA hit pause on Election Day for the fourth time in five years as all 30 teams around the league had Tuesday off.

The NBA's 'Get In The Game. VOTE.' campaign essentially stretched across two days, with every team in action on Monday, as players and broadcasts spread awareness for Tuesday's midterm election around the United States. Players wore 'VOTE' shirts during pregame warmups at all 15 games held on Monday night.

The NBA sitting out Election Day began in 2022 when Joe Biden occupied the White House. The league followed suit in 2022, '23, '24, and now '26, but did host games on Election Day in 2025 as it was an off-year with Virginia and New Jersey the only two states holding gubernatorial elections.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

The NBA has emphasized the importance of Election Day by ceasing operations while simultaneously hosting games on Christmas Day for more than 75 years.

"Making your voice heard through your vote is empowering," James Cadogan, executive director of the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition, said in a statement. "We’re excited to engage fans across the country and inspire voters of all ages, demographics, and perspectives to come together and help shape our future."

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. In college football, the MAC was in action with Miami (OH) hosting Buffalo and Akron taking on Ohio, while over 25 college basketball games took place around the country as well.

OUTKICK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE FOX NEWS APP: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

The 2026 midterms consisted of 36 gubernatorial races and saw a 'Blue Tsunami' take place, with Democrats taking control of Congress.
CFP rankings: Notre Dame faces sudden death, SEC feeling good, and Big Ten close to hitting the panic button

Miami sits at No 1 with Georgia and Utah rounding out the top three, but the CFP is full of chaos with first rankings

Judging by the chaos we have already seen across college football this season, it should come as no surprise that the first CFP rankings were just as unpredictable as the product on the field.

The only certainty entering Tuesday night’s rankings reveal was that Miami would sit atop the polls after a difficult outing against North Carolina.

Now, with a showdown against No. 8 Notre Dame looming this weekend, this is shaping up to be an elimination game for the No. 11 ranked Fighting Irish.

And let me make it clear for folks out there that are not following on a weekly basis: don't freak out yet, just give it a few weeks.

But yes, you have my permission to start getting extremely nervous about the upcoming weekend, Notre Dame fans. It's clear that the CFP committee is telling Marcus Freeman's squad that they better beat No. 1 Miami on Saturday, or their chances of making the postseason will be hinging on others losing.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF RANKINGS: MIAMI TAKES TOP SPOT, INDIANA CRACKS TOP FIVE IN FIRST OFFICIAL RELEASE

Don't forget, this is the final season for a twelve-team playoff, with an expansion to 24-teams coming next year as ESPN and CFP finalize their new television agreement.

Well, the Southeastern Conference has to be feeling good with rankings

As for what happens within the SEC, well they came out smelling pretty nice after spending the entire offseason emphasizing strength of schedule metrics. Now, the conference has to be feeling fantastic on Wednesday morning, with Georgia sitting at No. 2 in the first polls.

Alabama coming in at No. 5 and Kentucky being ranked No. 6 gives them a pretty solid landing spot if either one of those teams were to catch another loss.

Realistically, if Kentucky beats No. 13 Tennessee this weekend in Knoxville, the Cats' can afford an additional loss and still secure a playoff bid.

But, why in the world is Alabama ranked eight spots ahead of Tennessee if the Vols won the head-to-head matchup last month?

"The head to head matchup between Tennessee and Alabama is not going to come into play at this point becuase of where those two teams are viewed in the rankings process," CFP chairman Hunter Yurachek explained.

No. 7 Texas is the only current team in the country with wins against three ranked teams, with a number of others including Kentucky, BYU, Alabama, Ole Miss and Ohio State being ones with two wins on the season so far.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

How many spots could the Big Ten rack up? Buckeyes on brink of ouster

It was undefeated No. 8 UCLA that came in behind No. 4 Indiana, after the Hoosiers hung on for dear life against Minnesota this past weekend, as the committee came off as confusing given the Hoosiers strength of schedule.

We could be witnessing a year in which the Big Ten might only get two teams into the College Football Playoff, especially if No. 12 Ohio State cannot figure out life without Julian Sayin.

OHIO STATE'S NATIONAL TITLE HOPES ARE RIGHTFULLY FADING AFTER USC DELIVERS REALITY CHECK IN SHOCKING UPSET

The Buckeyes, in my opinion, deserved to be ranked in this area. But the argument over head-to-head matchups was not even discussed by the committee due to Ohio State not being in the same pod of teams, according to chairman Hunter Yurachek.

"They didn’t look like the same Ohio State team this past weekend against Southern Cal"

And, it's not hard to argue that the Buckeyes deserved to work for their spot. Obviously, they have time to prove to the world that they are a better football team than what we saw against USC, even though Hunter Yurachek pointed towards their defense more than offensive output.

Indiana has zero ranked wins this season, and have four of their five wins over power conference schools coming by one score.

What in the world has Indiana done to be ranked so high? And now, with USC being ranked 20th in the first poll, this could also give the Big Ten a spot at gaining a spot if the Trojans were to win out, while Indiana might not drop as far if they were to lose at home next week to Lincoln Riley's squad.

We see you, Big 12. This could get very entertaining

The Big 12 could be in an even more interesting position.

No. 3 Utah is the highest-ranked team from the conference, but No. 9 BYU has a chance to change the entire playoff picture when the two teams meet in Saturday’s "Holy War."

The Big 12 could potentially receive as many playoff bids as the Big Ten, although there is still a full month of the regular season remaining.

If the conference wants to place three teams in the College Football Playoff, BYU would likely need to win out, while No. 15 Texas Tech would need to finish the regular season undefeated. Utah would then most likely need to defeat BYU in the conference championship game.

That scenario would give BYU a legitimate argument for inclusion in the final CFP rankings, while Utah would receive the automatic bid and Texas Tech could make a strong case with only one loss.

ESPN FUMBLES THE HOLY WAR BY FORCING UTAH AND BYU INTO A DREADED EARLY-MORNING KICKOFF FOR FANS

The College Football Playoff Top-25 has fans talking

While in the past we could have countless arguments around the shenanigans that come with the CFP committee's rankings, this season might actually call for a little grace.

Having to make these types of decisions, based off the pure madness we've seen over the past eight weeks, certainly made life difficult for committee members.

"We still believe as a committee there is going to be a significant amount of movement within the entire Top-25 ranking, and we’re looking forward to the task at hand," CFP chairman Hunter Yurachek said after the rankings show.

"It will be a difficult task..This weekend is huge for college football"

Now, there is always something to nitpick, but this year has proven that any given Saturday could result in something wild transpiring within the Top-25.

Is their truly an elite team this season? We're about to find out over the next month.

1. Miami

2. Georgia

3. Utah

4. Indiana

5. Alabama

6. Kentucky

7. Texas

8. UCLA

9. BYU

10. Ole Miss

11. Notre Dame

12. Ohio State

13. Tennessee

14. LSU

15. Texas Tech

16. Arizona

23. Oregon

24. Florida

25. Boise State

What the first round would look like today, and quarterfinals

Now that we know that the field looks like as of November 3rd, we can asses what the first round will look like with on-campus games.

No. 12 Ohio State at No. 5 Alabama

No. 11 Notre Dame at No. 6 Kentucky

No. 10 Ole Miss at No. 7 Texas

No. 9 BYU at No. 8 UCLA

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Quarterfinals (Fiesta, Peach, Rose, Cotton Bowls)

No. 1 Miami vs. No. 8/No. 9 winner

No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 7/No. 10 winner

No. 3 Utah vs. No. 6/No. 11 winner

No. 4 Indiana vs. No. 5/No. 12 winner

We are in for one crazy month of November, and there will be plenty of nervous folks across the country tuning in over the next four weeks.

One thing that we learned after the first CFP rankings of the 2026 season is that there will be plenty of chaotic moments coming, but Notre Dame had better win this weekend if they plan on spending their December preparing for the playoffs.

Caitlin Clark tells Kylie Kelce she wants 'to be loyal to the red' after Colts' blue jersey controversy

The WNBA star told Kylie Kelce's podcast she refused to wear a custom Colts jersey to stay 'loyal to the red'

Caitlin Clark plays for the Indiana Fever, who plays in a building is just a short walk from Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.

Clark, who has routinely been spotted watching Kansas City Chiefs games from a luxury suite alongside music star Taylor Swift, joked that her football allegiance could shift toward the Indianapolis Colts. But she jokingly cautioned that throwing her support behind the Colts could leave Travis Kelce and Chiefs fans somewhat upset.

Clark appeared on the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast, hosted by Kylie Kelce, Taylor Swift’s sister-in-law, and recalled attending a Colts game last season. During her visit to Lucas Oil Stadium, Clark explained why she chose not to wear the custom jersey the team had given her.

TAYLOR SWIFT HAS SAVAGE CELEBRATION AFTER TRAVIS KELCE SCORES FIRST TOUCHDOWN OF 2026 SEASON

Kylie was supportive of Clark’s decision not to wear the blue jersey during the podcast. Clark also suggested it was best for her "to be loyal to the red," a reference to the Chiefs’ signature jersey color.

Clark was seen at Arrowhead Stadium as recently on Oct. 18, cheering for Kansas City alongside Swift.

Kylie then asked whether Clark had noticed any backlash over the jersey situation.

"Honestly, in real time I wasn’t thinking I’m not gonna put this on because I don’t want, like, the Chiefs fans mad or Travis mad or whatever, but after the fact, I didn’t realize that all my teammates had it on, so that made me look worse.," Clark said.

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

The custom Colts jersey wasn't thrown out, in fact, Clark still has it. "It’s cool! They put my name on it," she told Kylie, who shared she’s "caught a lot of sh-- for not putting the red on" when she's taking in Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium with her husband, Jason Kelce.

Even so, Clark appears to have respect for the Colts organization and its leadership, which is overseen by the late Jim Irsay’s daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson. Carlie leads the franchise’s day-to-day operations and has developed a reputation for her hands-on approach, including standing on the sideline during games with an earpiece to listen to live play calls.

"I love the Colts. I think it’s so cool, the Irsay daughters and what they do," Clark said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Clark’s friendly relationship with the Kelce family also extends to Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and Jason. Donna wore Clark’s jersey, and the two chatted before a Fever game in September.

The Colts have lost four consecutive games and appear to be entering a major roster overhaul. Amid the shakeup, running back Jonathan Taylor emerged as a potential trade candidate. ESPN, however, recently reported that the Colts "don’t wanna trade" Taylor, at least for now.

America saw the blue wave coming — but drastically underestimated the extent of the Dem tsunami

Sweeping upsets in South Carolina, Kansas and Texas stunned Republicans in Trump country

Polling and election analysts pointed to Democratic gains in the 2026 midterms, but the results brought wider margins and bigger upsets that even some of the most ambitious predictions didn't see coming.

This included a historic Democratic breakthrough in Texas and other deep red strongholds.

Democrats won control of the Senate and House in Tuesday's election in what could be their largest House majority in nearly two decades.

The results marked a stunning rebuke to President Donald Trump, who ran in 2024 on fixing the economy and ending all wars. He launched a campaign blitz in the final weeks of the campaign cycle to rally Republican voters — but it wasn't enough to save the party's floundering message.

DEEP IN TRUMP COUNTRY, A NEW GENERATION REVEALS THE DIVIDE BEHIND TEXAS’ TIGHT SENATE RACE

That rejection was especially striking in Texas, where Democrats pulled off twin upsets, with James Talarico defeating Attorney General Ken Paxton and Gina Hinojosa unseating Gov. Greg Abbott. The victories defied expectations in a state Trump carried by double digits just two years earlier.

A Fox News poll in October showed Talarico and Paxton nearly tied, with Abbott leading Hinojosa. Both Democrats ultimately won by wide margins.

The Texas Senate race was marked as a "toss-up" by the bipartisan Cook Political Report that gave Republicans an advantage with an R+6 ranking. But as of the early morning hours of Wednesday, Talarico held 53.9% of the vote to Paxton's 44.2% — a 9.7% gap in a race where polls were showing a clean match-up.

Abbott's race was the biggest miss when it came to ratings and polling versus real results. Hinojosa flew mostly under the radar, with Cook ranking the race a "lean Republican" — but the Democrat candidate ran away with a nearly 7% victory gap as of 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

And the Texas results came amid a broader Democratic tsunami.

Texas’ Democratic upsets came as voters nationwide voiced dissatisfaction with Trump and the economy. A Fox News poll found Trump’s approval at 36%, while 74% of voters rated the economy negatively.

POLL FLASHES WARNING SIGNS FOR REPUBLICANS IN 7 BATTLEGROUND SENATE RACES

Democrats’ sweeping gains extended beyond Texas, with Senate upsets in Kansas and South Carolina, two states Trump carried by double digits in 2024.

In Kansas, Adam Hamilton scored a historic defeat over Sen. Roger Marshall, ending Republicans’ 94-year winning streak in Senate races in the state. Kansas will send to the U.S. Senate their first Democrat elected senator in nearly a century.

While the race was ranked a "toss-up," it still marks a historic departure for the ruby-red state.

And in deep red South Carolina, Annie Andrews defeated Sen. Darline Graham, who had been appointed to succeed her late brother, Lindsey Graham, but couldn't secure a victory at the ballot box.

The race was ranked "lean Republican," but the divide was 4.2 points as of Wednesday morning, marking a significant upset and an end to the more than two-decade reign of Grahams' holding onto the South Carolina Senate seat after Lindsey was first elected in 2002.

While Maine has long been considered a purple state, its 30-year-tenured Republican Senator, Susan Collins, was ousted in Tuesday's midterm by Democrat Troy Jackson. Collins was widely viewed as a career politician and served five terms in the U.S. Senate.

Cook rated the race a "toss-up," but the 6-point divide was still viewed as a major political upset.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Taken together, the results showed that the Democratic wave reached well beyond the usual battlegrounds, sweeping into states and seats that Republicans had long counted on carrying.

The antisemitism horseshoe is playing out in real time — from New York to Paris and beyond

A Diamond District stabbing and London assaults show how both political extremes treat Jewish safety as secondary

This past month has offered a clear picture of how antisemitism actually works. It does not arrive from one political direction. It arrives from both ends at once.

In Manhattan’s Diamond District on October 21, a 26-year-old Jewish man was stabbed in the back while doing outreach. The attack is being investigated as a possible hate crime; a woman has been arrested and charged. In north London around the same time, three Jewish women — including one pushing a baby in a stroller — were assaulted in the Stamford Hill area.

A suspect was detained by community security volunteers and later charged; police treated the incidents as suspected antisemitic hate crimes. These were not isolated street crimes. They fit a pattern in which visibly Jewish people are targeted while the broader political conversation treats Jewish safety as secondary or suspect.

WEAPONIZING THE CHARGE OF GENOCIDE FUELS AN INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS ANTISEMITISM

At the same time, online and in the streets, both extremes have continued to treat Jews as the explanation for larger problems. During France’s October student-led cost-of-living protests that turned into the country’s worst street violence in years, Palestinian flags and keffiyehs appeared regularly among the rioters.

Separately, a monitoring group documented more than 1,300 posts on X blaming Jews, Israel, or the Mossad for the unrest — classic conspiracies about Jewish elites, Rothschild’s and orchestration of chaos.

Far-right accounts declared that "the Jews did this to France." Far-left accounts framed the same events through the language of colonization and resistance. The two sides do not agree on economics, immigration or the future of the country. They do agree that Jews belong in the story as the problem.

B’nai B’rith has a significant presence with thousands of volunteers in close to 50 countries across the globe.

Our B'nai B'rith volunteers globally are not reading about these patterns after the fact. They are living them and reporting them to us in real time: heightened security concerns around synagogues and schools, Jewish students and professionals feeling the temperature shift in daily life, and the same dual narratives — conspiracy from one side, delegitimization from the other — appearing in local conversations and online spaces.

What shows up in global tracking reports is what our people on the ground are already describing from their own streets and campuses.

SIGN UP FOR ANTISEMITISM EXPOSED NEWSLETTER

Recently reported numbers show the same split in concrete incidents. In one recent week, far-right and far-left incidents were nearly equal in number. Swastika graffiti clusters appeared in the United States and Germany. Far-left and Islamist-inspired actions — graffiti, threats and assaults linked to anti-Israel rhetoric — continued elsewhere.

Calls to "globalize the intifada" circulated around the Oct. 7 anniversary in multiple countries. A network of fake AI "rabbi" accounts has been pushing classic antisemitic money tropes on social platforms. None of this requires a single coordinating hand. It requires only the willingness of people who otherwise oppose each other to land on the same target.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

This is the horseshoe. On one end, Jews are cast as alien outsiders who secretly run the banks, the media and the government. On the other, Jews are cast as white colonizers who do not count as oppressed and whose state should not exist. The words differ. The outcome is the same: Jews are positioned as the hand behind the curtain, then blamed for whichever crisis is underway. Other minorities are usually claimed by one side and attacked by the other. Jews are accused by both, then accused of belonging to whichever side is speaking.

The numbers have been clear for some time. In France, Interior Ministry figures put antisemitic incidents at roughly 1,320 in 2025 — more than half of all recorded anti-religious offenses —despite Jews making up less than one percent of the population.

In New York City, Jews have accounted for a majority of confirmed hate crimes. These are not abstract trends. They show up as a man stabbed while wrapping tefillin, women punched on a London street and a community that learns to calculate risk before walking to synagogue or sending a child to school.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Americans cannot treat this as a European problem that stays elsewhere. This trend is growing here in the United States. If you only watch the far right, you will miss the assaults, the campus rhetoric and the street protests that treat Jewish institutions as legitimate targets. If you only watch the far left, you will miss the conspiracy posts, the swastikas and the older tropes that never left. The people in the middle do not get to pick an end of the horseshoe and call it safe.

Bonta says he'll counter DOJ election monitors with observers of his own

Attorney General Rob Bonta cited voter intimidation concerns as 1,000 federal monitors fan out across all 50 states

California Attorney General Rob Bonta said Tuesday afternoon that his office will deploy election observers in response to concerns that Justice Department monitors could intimidate voters.

Bonta said California was taking the same approach it used during the previous two elections, when the state dispatched its own observers alongside federal monitors.

The DOJ's Civil Rights Division has sent 1,000 monitors across the country to ensure election integrity and protect Americans' right to vote, a plan that has been public knowledge for months. The monitors will be personnel from across the DOJ, U.S. Attorney's Offices and employees from the Office of Personnel Management.

The department confirmed Tuesday that while federal election monitoring is routine, this year's operation is the largest in its history, with monitors deployed to all 50 states for the first time.

DOJ FIRES BACK AT DEM AG OVER ELECTION DAY GUIDANCE TELLING OFFICIALS WHEN TO CALL COPS ON FEDERAL AGENTS

The DOJ also released a list of cities where monitors are being deployed. In California, they are being sent to Los Angeles, Alameda, Sacramento and San Diego.

Bonta and other critics have argued that the unusually large federal presence could spook voters or discourage some from casting ballots.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who leads the Civil Rights Division, told Bloomberg in an August interview that the role of DOJ election monitors would be to observe election practices and pursue investigations into any possible instances of fraud after the fact — not to intervene directly while people are voting.

In Tuesday's announcement, the DOJ added that monitors will also be responsible for ensuring that polling places are accessible for those with disabilities.

DOJ OFFICIAL DEFENDS TRUMP'S NONCITIZEN VOTER PROBE ON '60 MINUTES,' ACCUSES SHOW OF EDITING OUT HER ANSWERS

In her Bloomberg interview, Dhillon said the election monitors would respect the laws of whichever states they end up in. Many states restrict monitors from entering polling places and require them to remain behind designated boundaries outside.

"We respect state law," Dhillon told Bloomberg at the time. "We reach out to the states. If their perimeter is 150 yards, we respect that."

Dhillon also pointed out that the DOJ sent more than 80 monitors to observe primary elections across seven states this year, including locations in Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, Wyoming, South Carolina, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The nationwide deployment appeared to be proceeding without major incident Tuesday afternoon, with no significant confrontations involving federal monitors publicly reported.

This comes after the Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Trump administration's effort to require California election officials to segregate ballots cast by 20,000 voters the DOJ believes are noncitizens.

Trump pledges to veto 'insane' Dem bills, pinpoints issue partially to blame for Republican losses

Democrats flipped at least seven Senate seats and more than two dozen House districts in Tuesday's sweep

President Donald Trump vowed to veto "insane" legislation from Democrats following the party's major midterm election victories Tuesday, while acknowledging that rising gasoline prices stemming from the conflict with Iran likely contributed to Republican losses.

Trump, who posted an image of a red hat with the word "Veto" to Truth Social late Tuesday night, told Fox News Channel during live Election Night coverage that he was surprised by the GOP's performance but expressed confidence that he could work with Democrats despite their electoral gains.

"They'll send over things that are insane and I'll veto them," Trump said. "And after a couple of months of vetoes, they'll go out and they'll say, ‘How do we get this stuff done?’ And we'll work together."

TRUMP CONGRATULATES DEMOCRATS AFTER DOMINANT MIDTERMS, SAYS HE LOOKS FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM

Democrats seized control of both chambers of Congress in Tuesday's midterm elections, flipping at least seven Republican-held Senate seats and more than two dozen House districts. The sweeping victories dealt a major blow to Trump and the GOP, leaving Democrats positioned to block the president's legislative agenda, reject his nominees and launch investigations into his administration during his final two years in office.

The president pointed to his veto authority as a negotiating tool and revealed that several Democratic lawmakers had already reached out to him.

"You know, I have a lot of friends that are Democrats, believe it or not. I've already spoken to some of them," Trump said, adding that he had spoken with Democratic members of Congress, with others waiting to call.

Trump also addressed the GOP's disappointing election-night performance, suggesting that Americans were reacting more to higher gasoline prices than to the military campaign against Iran itself.

STATE OF PLAY: BLUE WAVE SWEEPS DEMOCRATS INTO POWER, WITH KEY RACES STILL HANGING IN BALANCE

"I don't think it's the war, Bret, I think it's the gasoline price," Trump told "Special Report" anchor Bret Baier. "People agree with what I'm doing on Iran, but they really probably weren't willing to do the short-term consequence of paying more for gasoline."

Trump defended his administration's actions against Iran, arguing that the economic consequences were temporary and necessary to achieve longer-term national security objectives.

"I think a part of it was Iran. But at the same time, people understood the importance of what I've done with Iran," Trump said. "I think historically it's going to be much more important than this evening, because you can't let the number one state sponsor of terror have a nuclear weapon."

The president also blamed some Republican candidates for failing to energize his supporters, arguing that enthusiasm at his campaign rallies did not necessarily translate into votes for those he endorsed.

"I'm a little bit surprised. I thought they'd do better," Trump said. "We had tremendous rallies. We had about 30 of them."

Trump said some candidates had alienated his MAGA base by previously opposing him, while others simply failed to inspire voters to turn out.

'POD SAVE AMERICA' HOSTS CALL DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S MIDTERM WINS 'THE END OF THE TRUMP ERA'

"They didn't like the candidates and some of the candidates that I endorsed fought me, and they didn't like that they fought me," Trump said.

"And I wasn't on the ballot. If I was on the ballot, they would have gotten out," he added.

Despite expressing disappointment over Republican losses, Trump praised Democrats for their performance while rejecting the suggestion that the results amounted to a personal defeat.

"I think the Democrats did a good job, I really do. I think they did a good job. They fought hard," Trump said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"I don't like to consider it a defeat," he added. "If you're on the ballot, it's different than if you're not on the ballot."

‘LAWYER UP’: Democrats, Republicans waste no time in setting social media ablaze after midterm sweep

Democratic lawmakers promise subpoenas and investigations while conservatives call the Iran war an 'unforgivable betrayal'

Explosive reactions to the 2026 midterm elections quickly spread online as it became clear that Democrats had routed Republicans in key contests, reclaiming control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate early Wednesday morning.

While Republicans quickly looked for a source of blame, jubilant Democratic reactions ranged from calling the moment the end of Trump’s MAGA movement to aggressive predictions of what the party could accomplish with their newfound majorities.

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., summed up his vision for Senate committees in only one word.

"Subpoenas," Wyden said in a post on X.

‘LAWYER UP’: DEMS IMMEDIATELY PUT TRUMP ON NOTICE AMID REPUBLICANS' MIDTERM BLOODBATH

Democrats like Wyden have long promised to summon members of the current administration, former officials and business leaders before lawmakers for questioning if they captured a majority.

In the House, Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., echoed Wyden’s thinking with a brief post of his own.

"LAWYER UP," Garcia wrote.

Still other voices in the Democratic Party expressed the magnitude of the victory in more colorful terms.

"WE’RE GONNA PUT YOUR ASS IN JAIL EVERYONE GET MORE WORK RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Hasan Piker, a progressive streamer and socialist, said in a post to X.

Piker, who aligned himself closely with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party in the 2026 midterms, supported several candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). He also campaigned with Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, who won his race against Mike Rogers, a former congressman.

"GOD IS NONBINARY NOW MFS!!! IT'S LAW!!!" he wrote in another post, referring to James Talarico’s Senate victory in Texas over Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Talarico received widespread criticism from Republicans for past comments where he described God as "nonbinary" — an instance Republicans used to characterize Talarico as too progressive to represent a Republican-leaning state like Texas.

DEMS SEIZE THE SENATE AS BLUE TIDAL WAVE CRASHES DEEP INTO TRUMP COUNTRY, TOPPLES GOP STRONGHOLDS

After Fox News Decision Desk projected victories by Talarico and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa over Gov. Greg Abbott, other progressives cast the wins as a symbol of Democratic momentum.

"TEXAS IS BLUE. THIS IS HISTORY," Dean Withers, another progressive political commentator, wrote in a post to social media.

"MAGA IS DEAD. THEY’RE F---ING DEAD. WOKE HAS NEVER BEEN MORE BACK," he added.

On the other side of the aisle, Republicans and conservatives took to social media to vent frustrations and begin identifying where they thought the party had lost traction with the public.

To Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who lost a primary earlier this year to a Trump-backed challenger, the midterm outcome boiled down to a set of unfulfilled promises: broken pledges to stay out of foreign conflicts and commitments to bring transparency around Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced businessman who had died in prison while awaiting trial.

"Tonight’s outcome isn’t about placing faith in Democrats or socialist principles; it’s about holding Republicans accountable for betraying their promises. All Republicans had to do was: 1. put Americans First 2. not start another war 3. prosecute sex traffickers," Massie wrote.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former congresswoman who resigned her seat earlier this year over disagreements with the administration, delivered a similar message.

"Trump’s biggest betrayal to the American people isn’t what he failed to do. It’s what he promised NOT to do… and did it anyway," Greene wrote in a post to X.

"We gave President Trump our support, we gave him our money, we gave him our vote and gave him our time and we got behind him publicly, and he didn’t deliver," she added.

Conservative political commentator Matt Walsh offered similar criticisms of Trump, focusing on the U.S. conflict with Iran.

CONSERVATIVES STUNNED BY 'CATASTROPHIC' MIDTERM BLUE TSUNAMI, BLAME TRUMP'S IRAN WAR, HIGH GAS PRICES

"The Iran War is the greatest political blunder in the last two decades at least. A catastrophically stupid decision. An unforgivable betrayal of America First principles," Walsh said.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"There’s no way to soft-pedal this. It’s a political catastrophe of historic proportions. The Republican Party needs all new leadership. None should be spared from blame, starting at the top," Walsh added in a separate post.

The senator-elect told parents to 'let them know tomorrow that the bad guys lost' after an 'ugly' campaign

Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed mocked President Donald Trump and his opponent in a combative victory speech Tuesday night in Michigan.

El-Sayed, who defeated Republican Mike Rogers, said his opponents "went all-in on one of the ugliest campaigns we've seen in our lifetimes."

"They might have been pointing at my name and my faith, but we all know my name and my faith aren't the reason you can't afford your gas or afford your groceries," El-Sayed said.

ABDUL EL-SAYED DELIVERS MAJOR BLOW TO GOP IN MICHIGAN AFTER BRUISING SENATE RACE

He said Trump's comments about him became "uglier and coarser" and that "to all the parents who struggle to explain why the president openly mocked someone for their name or how they pray, let them know tomorrow that the bad guys lost."

"They want an America that is too small for some of us, but we know America is big enough for all of us," he continued.

VANCE'S CAMPAIGN BLITZ PUTS HIM AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE GOP'S MIDTERM PUSH, AS INSIDERS PRAISE PACKED SCHEDULE

He also mockingly spoke of Vice President JD Vance, a foe he has combatted with frequently in recent months, saying, "There is this delicious irony in the fact that you're constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January.
Dem AG pulls off upset of sitting Republican governor after blistering campaign in key swing state

Ford campaigned on housing affordability, abortion access and education while criticizing Lombardo's alignment with Trump

Nevada Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford has successfully ousted Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo in Nevada, a significant pickup for Democrats in the critical battleground state, The Associated Press projects.

Ford's defeat of Lombardo comes in one of the most closely watched gubernatorial races in the country.

Ford’s victory makes him Nevada’s first Black governor and gives Democrats control of the governor’s office for the first time since Lombardo defeated Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak in 2022.

Ford, who has served as Nevada’s attorney general since 2019, campaigned on affordability, housing, education, healthcare and protecting access to abortion. He argued that Nevada families were struggling with high housing costs, energy bills and other rising expenses under Lombardo and the Republican administration.

FOX NEWS POWER RANKINGS: THE TOP RACES TO WATCH AS 36 STATES CHOOSE THEIR NEXT GOVERNOR

The result could also give Nevada Democrats unified control of state government depending on Tuesday night's election results, with the party already holding majorities in both chambers of the state Legislature. Ford will enter office with a legislative majority aligned with his agenda, although significant disagreements could remain over taxes, education spending, public safety and the state’s business climate.

Ford repeatedly criticized Lombardo for aligning himself with President Donald Trump and national Republicans. He argued that Nevada needed a governor who would challenge the administration on federal funding, immigration and voting rights while focusing on the state’s cost-of-living crisis.

The Republican incumbent defended his record on public safety, education, economic development and government spending. Lombardo argued that his administration had increased education funding, expanded workforce development and worked to diversify Nevada’s economy beyond tourism and gaming.

A BLUE WAVE IN GOVERNORS' MANSIONS COULD HURT FAMILIES MORE THAN A BLUE CONGRESS

Lombardo also accused Ford of proposing costly new government programs without explaining how they would be financed. His campaign pointed to a campaign analysis estimating that fully implementing Ford’s platform could cost billions of dollars over four years.

Ford rejected that analysis, arguing that Lombardo’s administration had included spending mechanisms and assumptions that were not part of his actual proposals. Ford said his agenda could be accomplished through a combination of existing state resources, federal funding and policy changes.

Housing affordability was one of the defining issues of the campaign. Nevada has faced a shortage of affordable homes, particularly in the Las Vegas and Reno areas, while rising rents and mortgage rates have placed pressure on working- and middle-class residents.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The candidates also clashed over energy costs, public education, crime, abortion, immigration and the state’s reliance on tourism and gaming.

Nevada’s growing energy demands, including those connected to data centers and other large industrial projects, became another major campaign issue. Lombardo promoted efforts to attract businesses and investment, while Ford argued that economic development should not result in higher costs for residents or additional pressure on the state’s infrastructure.

Ford will now face pressure to deliver on his campaign promises while governing a state with significant budget, housing, education and infrastructure challenges.

As attorney general, Ford frequently challenged Trump administration policies in court. His election is likely to make Nevada a more prominent Democratic counterweight to the federal government as the state moves toward the 2028 presidential election.

STATE OF PLAY: Blue wave sweeps Democrats into power, with key races still hanging in balance

Senate races in Mississippi, Alaska remain too close to call as the blue wave's full scope emerges

Democrats decisively recaptured majorities in the House and Senate in the midterm elections, riding a massive blue wave that exceeded expectations.

But with Tuesday turning into Wednesday and a handful of high-profile races still to be called, the big question remaining is whether the already formidable Democratic congressional majorities keep growing.

In the battle for the Senate, Democrats stormed to the majority by flipping GOP-held seats in Maine, Ohio, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina, while successfully defending open seats in Michigan and New Hampshire.

HEAD HERE FOR FOX NEWS LIVE UPDATES ON THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Meanwhile, Senate races for two GOP-held seats were still too close to call.

In Mississippi, Republican incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democratic challenger Scott Colom appeared deadlocked. In Alaska, GOP incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan had a slight edge over former Rep. Mary Peltola with votes still being counted.

In the battle for the House, thanks to the stunning blue tsunami, Democrats easily cleared the 218-seat threshold needed to recapture the chamber.

CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MIDTERM ELECTION RESULTS AS THE VOTES CONTINUE TO BE COUNTED

But with plenty of races still outstanding, the big question is just how large of a majority will Democrats end up with when all the votes are counted.

As of early Wednesday, Democrats had won 228 seats to 139 for the GOP, with 68 races yet to be called.

In gubernatorial showdowns, competitive races in Alaska and Kansas had yet to be called.

The results amounted to a stunning rebuke of President Donald Trump and the GOP.

"The American people reduced the red brick wall to a pile of bricks," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., told reporters.

And looking ahead to January, when the new Congress gets to work, Schumer said, "We have five words for the American people. Relief is on the way."

But Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said, "As we head into 2027, Senate Republicans will not stand idly by as the far-left, socialist wing of the Democratic Party attempts to unwind everything we’ve done."

Thune said that Senate Republicans will work with Trump "to stop the worst impulses of Democrat extremism. We cannot let their fringe positions become the mainstream."

CHECK OUT THE FOX NEWS ELECTION HUB

Trump spent the past two months repeatedly stressing to supporters to "pretend I’m on the ballot," as he tried to energize the Republican base.

But, as the results were pouring in on Tuesday night, the president took to social media to argue, "I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!"

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Minutes later, the president, in an interview on Fox News with anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, complimented the opposition party, saying, "I think the Democrats did a good job."

And pointing to their incoming congressional majorities, Trump added, "I can work with them on many things."

LAURA INGRAHAM: Richer, safer and stronger: Why the Trump agenda deserves to keep going

The Trump movement ranks among the most successful in American history

"This is the end of Trumpism!" "Conservative Populism, RIP." "Goodbye, MAGA!"

If these pronouncements sound familiar, it’s because they are. The same people predicting this now in op-eds, online and in podcasts predicted the same after Trump’s first impeachment, after the 2020 election, after January 6, after the second impeachment and after every criminal indictment filed against him.

Their wishful thinking is as dim-witted now as it was then.

TRUMP HIGHLIGHTS THE 'POWER OF VETO' AS DEMS EXPECTED TO TAKE HOUSE, SENATE

Any fair-minded political analyst would admit that over the past decade, Donald Trump has been the most consequential leader in the world, and that he has accomplished more than any Republican president in at least the past 100 years. His record should not be judged on midterm results but on what it has delivered. And if the question on the table is "Should Trump’s policies continue?" the record says yes — politically, economically, geopolitically and culturally.

The political record

Critics predicted Trump would destroy the Republican Party and set back American conservatism. The opposite happened. Across the West, the right has either collapsed or made its peace with the governing consensus. Canada hasn't had a conservative prime minister since 2015. Britain's Conservatives hold just 118 of 650 seats in the House of Commons. Marine Le Pen has never cleared 42% of the vote in a French presidential election. Germany's conservatives govern in coalition with the Social Democrats, and in Italy, The Economist recently praised Giorgia Meloni for "tacking to the middle."

Only in America has the right governed on low taxes, lighter regulation, social conservatism and a strong military — and kept winning. Democrats had little trouble beating moderate Republicans like John McCain and Mitt Romney. Trump has confounded them for most of a decade. No other leader on the Western right can say that.

The economic record

We were told populism would wreck the economy. It hasn't.

Trump worked with Congress to cut taxes and roll back regulation, and he has trimmed a bloated bureaucracy: Between December 2024 and June 2026, the federal workforce shrank by 255,000 employees, or 12%, according to The Washington Post.

Ordinary families have benefited. Real median household income rose from $77,230 in 2016 to a record $87,460 last year, both measured in 2025 dollars. Those figures are adjusted for inflation and describe the household squarely in the middle. Nostalgia for the '80s and '90s is understandable, but the American middle class has never been richer than it is today.

FOX NEWS POLL: COST-OF-LIVING CONCERNS WEIGH ON GOP IN MIDTERMS

Inflation, the defining failure of the Biden years, has been tamed. Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, peaked at 6.6% in September 2022 and was still 3.3% in November 2024. This September it stood at 2.6%. Headline inflation of 3.7% is in line with the eurozone's 3.8% and Britain's 3.5%. Americans are not uniquely squeezed.

Growth is outpacing our peers. In September, the OECD projected U.S. real GDP growth of 2.2% for 2026, the highest in the G7. The latest data are stronger still: the economy grew at a 3.4% annualized rate in the third quarter, compared with 0.5% for the EU and roughly 1.3% for Canada.

The upshot is that Americans are by far the wealthiest people of any major economy. The IMF projects 2026 GDP per capita of $95,212 in the United States, against $65,699 in Germany, $61,108 in Britain, $60,105 in Canada, $51,448 in France, $35,400 in Japan and $15,371 in China. The United States is not merely the richest major country on earth; it is pulling away from the rest of the West.

The geopolitical record

Critics warned that Trump's foreign policy would leave America isolated and weak. Instead, he is charting a course to victory over China, our only serious geopolitical rival.

WHY TRUMP ZEROED IN ON GREENLAND, THE WORLD’S LARGEST ISLAND, MOSTLY COVERED IN ICE — IN 3 CHARTS

Before Trump, Washington's establishment insisted that China's rise was good for America, a view the Obama administration voiced as late as 2012. Trump took a more realistic view. His tariffs kept state-subsidized Chinese cars from gutting our auto industry. His moves on the Panama Canal and Greenland denied Beijing footholds in our hemisphere. He is rebuilding a military that had grown dangerously weak and distracted by ideology. And our economic lead keeps widening: in 2016, U.S. GDP exceeded China's by $7.3 trillion; last year, the gap was $11.3 trillion.

In the Middle East, Trump has severely degraded an Iranian military that threatened the entire region. Critics predicted the Strait of Hormuz would be closed. It hasn't been: The Wall Street Journal reports that Persian Gulf oil exports, counting both Hormuz shipments and alternative routes, now exceed prewar levels. All of this has been achieved without an invasion or boots on the ground. With a stronger military and a booming economy, American leverage abroad is likely the greatest it has been since the early 2000s.

LIZ PEEK: GUARANTEED — DEMOCRAT MIDTERM WIN WOULD DELIVER CHAOS NOT 'AFFORDABILITY'

The social record

Some warned social conservatives that Trump didn't really share their priorities and that they would regret backing him. Consider what he delivered.

For four decades, Republican leaders promised to do something about Roe v. Wade. Trump kept that promise, and Roe is gone. Unlike past Republican presidents, he has not appointed justices who drift left, and on most key constitutional questions the Supreme Court now has a solid conservative majority for the first time since the early 1930s.

TRUMP DHS HITS 16 STRAIGHT MONTHS WITH 0 RELEASES AT THE BORDER

The border is closed to illegal immigration — another decades-old Republican promise that only Trump fulfilled. We were told this would devastate the economy. The data above say otherwise.

What the Democrats are offering

By any serious measure, the Trump movement ranks among the most successful in American history, and the country is better off for it — compared both with where we were and with our peers abroad.

Tellingly, Democrats aren't seriously arguing that they would deliver a stronger economy, a firmer foreign policy or safer streets. Voters can see what their approach produces by looking at Canada and Western Europe. Instead, their campaign rests on a single promise: to go after Trump and everyone who has worked with him. It is a campaign of retribution, not prosperity.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Of course, voters, including this one, are frustrated with the Iran conflict, and they want lower gas prices. Others are simply tired of politics, and some may hope a Democratic win would at least bring some calm to America. But remember what President Reagan said: "Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction." Freedom does not come cheap. Americans today are stronger, richer, safer and freer than we have been in decades, and those who want to see this country humbled, even humiliated, know it. The socialists, Marxists and even run-of-the-mill Democrats did not run this year to make your life better. They ran to punish you for wanting more than the scraps the political establishment used to toss you.

Do not fall for it. Can you imagine Republicans abandoning Reagan because he lost eight Senate seats in 1986? Did the Democrats abandon Obama after he lost nine Senate seats in 2014? Of course not.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

We know which policies work. We know which policies have been a disaster. We know how to build a better country for ourselves and our children. We know how Democrats almost destroyed America and what they intend to do to our Constitution if they get the chance.

We may not have everything we want — we probably never will — but we have already made huge progress, and we just need to keep relentlessly fighting for the type of country we want.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM LAURA INGRAHAM

Washington state voters appear to pass first-ever ballot measure separating boys and girls sports

Initiative 638 held a 13.6 percent lead with 60 percent of ballots counted, marking a historic first in a blue state

There was a good chance there were going to be tears either way, but these were the joyful kind. For years, Tumwater High (WA) student Frances Staudt has been fighting for the separation of boys and girls in sports, and Tuesday night, it appeared she helped score her biggest win yet.

Washington state's Initiative 638, which would require K-12 athletes to compete on teams aligned with their biological sex, held a substantial lead in unofficial election returns. Staudt, speaking at a watch party hosted by Let's Go Washington — the organization that spearheaded the initiative — couldn't contain her emotion.

"We did it!" said Staudt, who said she's endured daily harassment since refusing to play basketball against a biological boy two in March 2025. "It's not been an easy fight, and I'm so proud of us. And I'm so happy to be here with a victory. Washington people have had enough."

WOMEN WHO FACED BIOLOGICAL MALES IN GIRLS' SPORTS AND LOCKER ROOMS SPEAK OUT AHEAD OF WASHINGTON STATE VOTE

Just before Staudt's speech, the "yes" vote on I-638 held a 13.6 percent lead over "no" with 60 percent of the ballots counted. At press time, prediction market Kalshi gave the measure a 91 percent chance of passing. If approved, it would mark two historic firsts: the first time voters approved a statewide law separating boys' and girls' K-12 sports, and the first time such a law was enacted in a blue state.

Twenty-seven other states — all of which Donald Trump won in 2024 — enforce said separation. But those laws were passed by state legislatures, not directly by voters.

Supporters hope I-638 will have a ripple effect across the country, inspiring similar laws in other states.

"I think this is a big bellwether for the state," said Let's Go Washington founder Brian Heywood, celebrating an initiative that, if approved, could go into effect within 30 days. "This was citizens who are voting very blue still in a lot of ways saying, hey, it's not a Republican/Democrat issue, it's a parental issue, it's a fairness in girls sports issue. And I think that carries a huge amount of weight."

ACTIVISTS UNLEASH A 'NEXT WAVE' BALLOT STRATEGY FOR WOMEN'S SPORTS INSIDE DEEP BLUE STATES

Heywood filed the initiative in June 2025, needing nearly 309,000 signatures to qualify for the ballot. It reportedly received more than 445,000, with athletes such as Staudt and fellow Washingtonian Ahnaleigh Wilson helping collect signatures.

The campaign also drew attention to a controversy involving a transgender cross-country runner at Camas High School who switched from the boys' team to the girls' team during the season.

After finishing 76th in a boys' junior varsity race in September 2025, the sophomore began competing in girls' races, later winning a varsity event and finishing second in three others. Critics argued that the runner's participation affected other female athletes' opportunities to advance to regional and state competitions.

The controversy intensified in October when approximately a dozen female teammates walked off the starting line at a meet in protest. The incident became a rallying point for supporters of I-638.

Women's sports advocate Amy Sousa, who documented the walk-off on video, has spent nearly a decade advocating for restrictions on transgender athletes in female sports. Although the election results remained unofficial, she celebrated the measure's early lead.

WASHINGTON GIRLS WALK OFF CROSS COUNTRY MEET IN PROTEST OF MALE ATHLETE, PARENTS REVEAL HOW IT CAME TO THIS

"I'm so happy, I'm so pleased, I'm so proud, and I just feel like this is right. It feels right. It is right," Sousa said. "This is protecting Title IX, the promise of what our foremothers fought for — on the basis of sex."

IS COLORADO CLOSE TO PASSING A SIMILAR MEASURE?

In Colorado, a similar ballot measure was also leading, although by a narrower margin. Proposition 134 would establish sex-based eligibility requirements for K-12 and college athletics, extending the proposed restrictions beyond those included in Washington's initiative.

At press time, the "yes" vote led by 4.4 percentage points, with an estimated 75% of ballots counted. The outcome remained uncertain as election officials continued counting votes.

INTERNAL EMAILS REVEAL COLORADO SCHOOL OFFICIAL PREDICTED TRANS VOLLEYBALL FALLOUT BEFORE PUBLIC LETTER

"Without knowing the outcome yet (and heading to go to sleep), I am cautiously optimistic that in a deep blue state, with a deep blue election wave, the voters will have said 'protect girls’ sports' when all votes are counted," said Jennifer Sey, chair of the Proposition 134 campaign and founder of XX-XY Athletics, in a comment to OutKick. "This was never a partisan issue. It’s a common-sense issue. Basic truth and biological reality don’t have a party."

ARIZONA AND NEBRASKA VOTERS CONSIDER ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS

Arizona and Nebraska also had sports-related ballot measures on Tuesday's ballots, although both states already restrict transgender athletes from competing in female sports.

Nebraska's Initiative 442, which had received more than twice as many votes in favor as against at publication time, would place the state's existing restrictions in its constitution, making them more difficult to repeal.

Arizona's Proposition 318, which led by 14.6 percentage points, would expand the state's existing restrictions on transgender participation in girls' and women's sports to private schools and athletic associations. It would also establish sex-based requirements for access to athletic locker rooms and restrooms.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

But the bigger stories are in Washington and Colorado — two blue states where voters are weighing changes to the rules governing girls' and women's sports. Teenagers such as Staudt have long been calling for action. It appears that the adults finally followed suit.

Dem wins Trump-targeted Texas district in rebuke of Republican redistricting shakeup

Garcia overcame a Trump-favored map in the San Antonio-area seat vacated after redistricting displaced Rep Greg Casar

Democrat Johnny Garcia is projected to win Texas' newly redrawn 35th Congressional District on Tuesday, overcoming a Republican-favored map designed to flip the seat after redistricting pushed Democratic Rep. Greg Casar into another district.

Garcia, a Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy, defeated Republican candidate Carlos De La Cruz, an Air Force veteran who was backed by President Donald Trump.

"Carlos De La Cruz just called and conceded the race, and I thanked him for a hard fought campaign," Garcia posted on X. "I'm grateful to the voters of TX-35 for their trust. Whether or not you voted for me, I'll fight to lower your costs, make healthcare affordable, and keep our community safe. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!"

FOX NEWS POWER RANKINGS: DEMOCRATS LEAD IN THE HOUSE, BUT REDISTRICTING KEEPS THE GOP IN THE GAME

The contest became a closely watched test of Texas Republicans' mid-decade redistricting strategy, which sought to strengthen the GOP's grip on the U.S. House ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Republican lawmakers dramatically reshaped the district in 2025 at President Donald Trump's urging, transforming a Democratic stronghold into territory that would have favored Trump by roughly 10 percentage points in the 2024 presidential election.

The overhaul also displaced the district's Democratic incumbent, Casar, who opted to seek election in the newly configured 37th Congressional District rather than defend his former seat.

The new 35th District covers portions of San Antonio and surrounding communities in Bexar County and neighboring counties.

The race pitted two candidates with sharply different backgrounds against one another.

De La Cruz, a 20-year Air Force veteran and former gym owner, entered the general election with Trump's endorsement and a prominent family connection to Washington. His sister, GOP Rep. Monica De La Cruz, represents Texas' 15th Congressional District.

Garcia, a longtime Bexar County sheriff's deputy, campaigned as a moderate, law-and-order Democrat, emphasizing working families and household costs in his appeal to voters.

Both candidates emerged from competitive May primary runoffs, with De La Cruz defeating Republican state Rep. John Lujan and Garcia overcoming Democratic rival Maureen Galindo.

LATINO VOTERS SWING BACK TO DEMOCRATS AHEAD OF MIDTERM ELECTIONS: POLL

The district's Hispanic-majority electorate also placed the race at the center of a broader political question: whether Republicans could sustain Trump's 2024 gains among Hispanic voters in a midterm election without the president himself on the ballot.

SIGN UP TO GET THE POLITICS NEWSLETTER

The outcome carries implications beyond South Texas, offering a test of whether redistricting can translate favorable presidential voting patterns into congressional victories or whether candidate appeal and changing voter priorities can disrupt those calculations.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

With control of the House at stake nationally, the race became one of several Texas battlegrounds drawing attention from both parties.

Abdul El-Sayed delivers major blow to GOP in Michigan after bruising Senate race

The progressive doctor overcame Trump's 'jihadist' rhetoric and GOP attacks to flip the closely watched Senate seat

Michigan is staying blue as Republicans’ hopes of flipping the state and gaining some breathing room in their thin majority were crushed.

Abdul El-Sayed, who became the veritable face of this midterm cycle acting as the GOP’s boogeyman for Democratic policies across the country, is projected to topple former Rep. Mike Rogers in what was one of the most-watched contests of the election.

In his victory speech, El-Sayed thanked AIPAC, which spent roughly $42 million running a campaign against him, for allowing him the opportunity to beat the American-Israeli interest PAC twice. El-Sayed celebrated his victory by invoking the Arabic phrase "alhamdulillah," which means "praise be to God."

The progressive candidate also issued a warning shot to his defeated opponent, Rogers.

"Enjoy your retirement," El-Sayed said of the Republican candidate. "You chose hate, and Michigan chose hope. May we never have to see the likes of you in this state again."

Meanwhile, around 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Rogers called on his supporters to go home, sharing that it was going to be a "long night." Organizers shared with the Detroit News that the hotel needed them out by that time.

ROGERS WARNS MICHIGAN VOTERS AGAINST EL-SAYED’S ‘EXTREME’ AGENDA AHEAD OF ELECTION

Throughout the campaign, El-Sayed outran alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, concerns about his rhetoric over Israel and Jewish voters in Michigan and criticism from fellow Democrats for his ties to controversial political streamer Hasan Piker.

Rogers failed to outrun the political headwinds that have buffeted Republicans this cycle, including affordability issues, President Donald Trump's trade war with Canada launched in the thick of the midterms and the Iran war, despite his attempts to distance himself and the administration from the latter issues.

El-Sayed’s victory serves as a major blow to the GOP’s push against the progressive lean in Democratic politics, where for much of the cycle after his shock win over Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., Republicans painted him as the face of socialism and communism in their messaging.

He will also be the first Muslim U.S. senator in history. His faith has been used as a line of attack by Republicans, including President Donald Trump, who last month during a rally in Michigan accused El-Sayed of being a "jihadist" that would "have to go through a metal detector before he's allowed to go into the Senate."

DEMS' LEFTWARD LURCH GETS LEGS AS EL-SAYED'S MICHIGAN SENATE VICTORY SPARKS PARTY DEBATE

"If Abdul and the Democrats win, they will open the floodgates and invite hordes of jihadis to our shores, creating a nightmare of violence and terror until you cannot even have a Christmas," Trump said.

Rogers similarly dipped into the same style of rhetoric, arguing to a crowd in Bad Axe, Mich., just days before the election that "This is not someone we can let into the United States Senate."

"If you don't know Iran is our enemy, and you can't condemn a Hezbollah-inspired attack, you have no business being in the United States Senate," Rogers said.

While Rogers and Republicans have run a national campaign against El-Sayed, the insurgent progressive has taken his own jabs at Trump, but largely ran a campaign focused on affordability issues in Michigan.

EL-SAYED, ROGERS CLASH OVER MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, TRUMP AND GUNS: 5 FIERY DEBATE MOMENTS

"They want to point to me and my name and my faith as if somehow that’s the problem, but none of those things are what’s raising your gas prices or making a new home unaffordable," El-Sayed told reporters last month.

The race attracted big names in both parties to stump for their respective candidates, with Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and others making the pilgrimage to Michigan for Rogers.

And Democratic heavyweights like former President Barack Obama, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., did the same for El-Sayed.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

But El-Sayed’s win does not mean he will jump on board with the Democratic old guard in Washington, D.C. Like other progressives running for the Senate, he’s been publicly critical of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and would prefer Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., to lead Democrats in the Senate.

Speaker Mike Johnson projected to cruise to re-election for fifth House term

The House speaker's fate in leadership hinges on the GOP's performance nationwide

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is poised to handily defeat his field of opponents to win a fifth term in the House of Representatives.

Johnson, who enjoys a close relationship with President Donald Trump, is projected to win nearly 60% of the vote against four other declared candidates, according to The Associated Press, and therefore is guaranteed to return to Congress in January.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry modified this year's House elections after postponing the primaries to give the state legislature more time to redraw its congressional map to give Republicans an edge.

BLOCKBUSTER SUPREME COURT VOTING RIGHTS RULING IGNITES REDISTRICTING WAR ACROSS SOUTHERN STATES

Instead of following the traditional schedule of a springtime primary race and a Nov. 3 general election, the top two candidates in each of the state's six House districts would advance to an early December runoff, unless one person clinches over 50% of the total vote.

Louisiana's GOP majority scored a victory with the Supreme Court earlier this year that allowed it to essentially dissolve the state's one Black-majority district, which was drawn under guidelines set by the Voting Rights Act.

THOMAS LEAVES NOTHING LEFT UNSAID ON RACIAL GERRYMANDERING DECISION: ‘GO FURTHER’

Johnson was widely expected to sail to victory on Tuesday night, given his leadership status and prolific fundraising.

His seat in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District is anchored by Shreveport and Bossier City in the northwestern part of the state. Its rating with the nonpartisan Cook Political Report is R-26, making it a safe Republican territory.

JOHNSON DELIVERS BIG FOR TRUMP, BUT FRUSTRATION GROWS ACROSS RAZOR-THIN GOP MAJORITY

But his dominant performance on Tuesday night will not necessarily translate to further success within the House GOP conference.

If Republicans keep their majority nationwide, Johnson is all but assured of remaining Speaker of the House in the next Congress. If they lose, Johnson is all but assured to face pressure from fellow House Republicans to step aside from his leadership role.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

In the latter case, it's widely believed that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, will face House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., for the minority leader position.

Dems flips yet another Senate seat in Trump country amid sweeping GOP upsets

Turek defeats Rep Ashley Hinson for the seat vacated by retiring Sen Joni Ernst, flipping it for the first time since 2008

The Fox News Decision Desk projects that Democrat Josh Turek will win Iowa's open U.S. Senate seat, flipping a Republican-held seat as the GOP fights to retain control of the chamber.

Turek defeated Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson in the race to succeed retiring Sen. Joni Ernst.

"Iowa, after 448 days of hard work, pushing up hills, knocking doors, visiting all 99 counties, visiting small and midsized communities all across Iowa, and preaching a message of a better future for Iowa – together, we have made history," Turek wrote on X.

The victory marks the first time Democrats have won the seat since 2008, when former Sen. Tom Harkin secured his final term. It also represents a Democratic pickup in a state President Donald Trump carried by more than 13 points in 2024.

SENATE CONTROL IS A COIN FLIP — AND DEMOCRATS’ PATH RUNS THROUGH TRUMP COUNTRY

Senate Majority Leader John Thune had made Hinson’s race a priority, saying: "I’m absolutely convinced that she flat has to win, and if she doesn’t, we’re not going to be in the majority."

Hinson shared with a crowd of supporters that she had conceded her race to Turek and congratulated him on a "very hard-fought campaign."

"Josh and I, to put it mildly, disagree on a lot. But tonight I hope that we can agree on this, that the campaign is behind us, and the work of serving the people of Iowa remains ahead," Hinson said. "It is time to put politics aside, dial down the rhetoric, and start solving problems for Iowa's families and Iowa's farmers."

Hinson then goes on to state that veterans, young people, students and millions of Americans need the help of politicians.

"That's who this campaign was really for. And while tonight's outcome was not the one that we wanted, I am so deeply proud of our campaign's fight, and I am just eternally grateful to everyone who helped make that happen to all of you," Hinson said.

Turek centered his campaign on affordability, healthcare and wages. He promised to push for lower prescription drug costs, more affordable housing, a higher minimum wage and a federal ban on food price gouging.

DEMOCRATS SAY THEY'LL MAKE LIFE AFFORDABLE. YOUR WALLET MAY DISAGREE

Healthcare was a personal theme for Turek, who was born with spina bifida and became a two-time Paralympic gold medalist. He pointed to his own experience accessing care and said, "healthcare is a human right." His platform also called for restoring Medicaid funding, protecting Affordable Care Act subsidies and supporting rural hospitals.

Turek presented himself as a bipartisan lawmaker who could work across party lines, including on immigration. He campaigned as a "prairie populist," arguing that working families were being squeezed by housing, grocery and fuel costs while Washington politicians and corporations benefited. He also tied Iowa’s economic pressure to Trump’s tariffs and the war in Iran.

TRUMP-BACKED IOWA US SENATE HOPEFUL SAYS IRAN WAR MUST 'BE BROUGHT TO A SUCCESSFUL AND IMMEDIATE END'

Hinson ran on tax relief, border security, parental involvement in schools and support for agriculture and biofuels. Trump backed her at a Sioux City rally, calling her "a mother, a warrior, a patriot" and promising that "with Ashley in the Senate, we will make it year-round E15. We’ll make it permanent."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Trump also called Turek "not a moderate."

Thune plans to run for Republican minority leader after Dem's midterm takeover

The South Dakota Republican defended the party's record despite losses in strongholds like South Carolina and Texas.

FIRST ON FOX: A source close to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., told Fox News Digital that the South Dakota Republican intends to run for Senate minority leader following the GOP's sweeping defeat in Tuesday's midterm elections.

Thune is expected to seek the leadership position despite Republicans losing at least five seats in the upper chamber, including contests in traditionally Republican strongholds such as South Carolina and Texas.

The losses came amid declining approval ratings for President Donald Trump, whose administration faced criticism over the war in Iran, immigration enforcement operations and high gas prices in the months leading up to the election.

CONSERVATIVES STUNNED BY 'CATASTROPHIC' MIDTERM BLUE TSUNAMI, BLAME TRUMP'S IRAN WAR, HIGH GAS PRICES

Following the defeat — which saw the Senate margins not only flip but also widen — Thune defended Senate Republicans' legislative record over the past two years.

The GOP conference has "put up a strong record of accomplishment that's created safer streets, more money in Americans' pockets, and new opportunities for families and businesses to get ahead," Thune wrote on social media.

TRUMP KEEPS CALLING THUNE DESPITE PUBLIC FIGHT OVER SAVE AMERICA ACT

The majority leader also highlighted Republicans' efforts to advance Trump's legislative and judicial priorities despite Democratic opposition.

"After fighting Democrat obstruction at every turn, we prevented the largest tax hike in American history, secured our border in an unprecedented way, confirmed the president's Cabinet at the fastest pace in two decades, and put strong conservative judges on benches across the country faster than we have since the Reagan administration," Thune wrote.

TRUMP'S PATIENCE 'RUNNING OUT' AS THUNE FIRES BACK OVER STALLED ELECTION SECURITY BILL

Earlier this year, Thune also faced criticism from Trump and House Republicans over the Senate's failure to advance key legislation championed by the president, including the SAVE America Act.

The election integrity legislation passed the House of Representatives three times in 2026 but stalled in the Senate, where the chamber's 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster prevented Republicans from advancing the measure.

REPORTER'S NOTEBOOK: CONGRESS BRACES FOR POST-ELECTION GAME OF MUSICAL CHAIRS AS LEADERSHIP BATTLES LOOM

It remains unclear whether Thune will face a challenger for the Senate Republican leadership position.

Another source close to the Republican majority in the Senate told Fox News Digital that Thune's ambition might land him serious backlash, adding that the conference did not deliver on key promises of the president's agenda which could have hurt Republican voter turnout in the midterm elections.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The source pointed to the fact that the upper chamber was only in session for 217 days in 2025, and 148 in 2026, as a reason for record-low approval of the chamber ratings among Republican voters that hurt voter turnout on Tuesday.

The source hinted that outspoken allies of the president in the chamber, such as Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, could emerge as good alternatives.
