Jon Rahm dodges questions about wanting a pathway back to PGA Tour with LIV Golf future a complete unknown

With complete uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf and whether the circuit will even exist in 2027, the question of where LIV players tee it up next year remains top of mind. That's not just the reality from those on the outside looking in, because Jon Rahm doesn't appear to know where he'll be competing in the new year, either.

Rahm, who has won LIV's individual title every season since joining the circuit ahead of the 2024 campaign, is gearing up to play in a few DP World Tour events in the coming weeks. Speaking ahead of this week's Irish Open, he explained he has "no updates" about LIV and its future since the conclusion of the season in August in Indianapolis.

LIV Golf lost its funding from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) at the conclusion of the 2026 campaign. LIV CEO Scott O'Neil has announced that a new investor has been secured for "LIV 2.0" to take shape, but reports of a potential bankruptcy filing and funding question marks make the circuit's future uncertain, to put it mildly.

While Rahm's "no updates" remark was in response to the lone LIV Golf-related question he received during his formal pre-tournament press conference, BBC Sport pressed him multiple times about what his future may hold.

"There's just a lot of things in place. There's a lot of things that could happen," Rahm told the outlet. "It's one of those things with time, time's going to tell."

When asked if he would like to see a pathway back for him to return to the PGA Tour, the Spaniard didn't exactly offer a straightforward answer.

"I still have a contract with LIV 1.0 that I am more than willing to fulfill," Rahm began. "Like I said, time will tell."

When asked if he'd like to go back and play on the PGA Tour, he simply stated, "We'll see what happens."

On top of understandably practicing patience about being paid on his contract, there isn't much else Rahm or any other LIV player can do at this point when it comes to pledging allegiance to a certain side.

Just as it is entirely unclear what LIV 2.0 may or may not look like, it's also a complete unknown as to what a potential pathway back to the PGA Tour could look like for any players who jumped to the breakaway circuit. It is safe to assume some form of a pathway back will be offered to players, especially for a high-profile player such as Rahm, but until something takes shape, the wait-and-see game is the only one to play.

Drug developed for lung disease may slow biological aging in surprising ‘bonus’

A drug being developed to treat a serious lung disease may also help to slow the aging process, researchers say.

In a small clinical study, patients who took rentosertib – developed by Insilico Medicine in Massachusetts – showed changes in blood proteins that made them appear biologically younger.

Several tests estimated that after treatment, the patients were biologically about three to four years younger.

"There is a promising trend in age reversal in addition to treating the disease, and it came as a bonus for disease treatment," first author Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, founder and co-CEO of Insilico Medicine, told Fox News Digital.

"It basically means that you are predicted to be younger using a validated set of aging clocks. We don’t know what that means yet."

The results were published in Nature Biotechnology and presented Monday at the Nature conference at Sorbonne University in Paris.

The researchers caution, however, that this does not yet prove the drug can actually reverse aging or help people live longer.

"It’s early days," Zhavoronkov noted. "The drug is still investigational."

What is rentosertib?

Rentosertib is an experimental drug, discovered with the help of artificial intelligence, that is being developed to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious disease that causes scarring in the lungs.

In an unexpected outcome, the drug was found to change patterns of proteins in the blood in ways that made patients appear an average of three to four years younger, in one case up to six years.

Six different aging tests showed the same general pattern, with patients who took rentosertib "scoring" biologically younger than those who received a placebo.

The strongest effect was seen after four weeks in patients taking 30 mg of the drug twice a day.

When researchers compared the results with data from more than 55,000 people in the UK Biobank, they found that the drug changed several blood proteins in the opposite direction from what is normally seen with aging.

The researchers also found signs that the drug may affect aging at the cellular level, as it changed processes involved in how cells function and respond to damage.

Zhavoronkov said the company's approach uses AI to search for what he calls "molecular criminals" — biological targets that may contribute to both aging and disease.

The study – which was published in Nature Biotechnology – involved researchers from Insilico Medicine as well as Harvard Medical School, Stanford University, the Broad Institute, RWTH Aachen University, Peking University and Westlake University.

Study limitations

Zhavoronkov stressed that the findings are preliminary. "This is a pilot," he said. "It is early [and] exploratory."

The study had some limitations, including the small sample size – just 42 patients were analyzed over a 12-week period.

The participants all had IPF, which can change many of the same proteins researchers use to measure biological aging. This means it’s possible that the improvements in the participants’ lung disease was related to the changes in blood proteins.

The findings don’t prove that the drug actually slows aging, keeps people healthier longer or extends their lives, the researchers acknowledged.

The results were based only on changes in proteins in their blood, and do not yet support the use of rentosertib as an anti-aging treatment.

Risks and side effects

The risks and side effects associated with rentosertib were found to be "manageable," according to Dr. Carol Ann Satler, senior vice president of clinical development for Insilico Medicine.

The most common potential side effects included mild diarrhea, slightly lower potassium levels in the blood and temporary increases in liver enzymes.

"Once you stop the drug, essentially, they return to normal," Satler told Fox News Digital.

In the next trial, the doctor said, "We'll be looking to adjust the doses of the drug based on the side effect profile so that people can stay on it longer."

Looking ahead

Rentosertib has now progressed into a year-long phase 3 study of more than 300 patients in China, according to Insilico.

Larger and longer trials – including healthy older adults and populations without IPF – are needed to determine whether the drug truly has anti-aging effects and whether they could lead to better health.

While more research lies ahead, Zhavoronkov said the findings have given him more confidence to continue pursuing drugs that could target both age-related diseases and aging itself.

Major blue state hospital pulls plug on controversial child transgender treatments after DOJ intervention

One of the largest hospitals in New York City will stop providing sex reassignment procedures to minors after entering an agreement with the Trump administration.

Mount Sinai has provided sex reassignment services, which included hormonal therapy and surgeries, to thousands of transgender patients. In 2025, Mount Sinai's Institute for Advanced Medicine reported that its providers saw 4,931 transgender and gender-diverse patients, but the exact number of minors receiving sex reassignment procedures has not been publicly disclosed, according to the hospital's report.

"The Department of Justice is committed to holding accountable medical providers that violate federal law and endanger children through so-called gender-affirming care," said Attorney General Todd Blanche. "This agreement puts an end to these practices at Mount Sinai and provides meaningful relief for individuals who have already suffered harm."

"A growing number of hospitals, like Mount Sinai, have recognized the medical scandal of sex-rejecting procedures," Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate of the Civil Division said in a statement. "While we are grateful when we secure resolutions to end this discredited practice and protect children, we must not and will not rest in our pursuit of justice for the victims it has left behind."

Curbing sex reassignment procedures for minors has been a top priority under the Trump administration.

Just a week after being sworn into office, President Donald Trump issued an executive order titled "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation," seeking to defund federal funding for gender reassignment procedures and directing the Justice Department to enforce the nation's female genital mutilation laws and investigate drug-safety violations and potential parental rights violations.

The Justice Department's investigation examines potential violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the False Claims Act and other federal health care laws, including alleged fraudulent billing practices such as the use of false diagnosis codes to obtain payment from federal health care programs and private insurers, according to the department.

The executive order also directed federal agencies to rescind or amend policies that rely on guidance from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

WPATH, a professional association that develops standards of care for transgender and gender-diverse patients, is being sued by the Federal Trade Commission and several states, which allege the group made false and unsubstantiated claims about the safety, effectiveness and medical necessity of pediatric medical-transition services. The case is pending.

WPATH's medical guidelines served as the bedrock for Mount Sinai's medical guidelines for transgender procedures, and Dr. Joshua Safer, executive director of the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, has co-authored WPATH guidelines.

The Justice Department did not release the details of the agreement with Mount Sinai but acknowledged that the hospital "remained cooperative, proactive, and solution-driven" at all times of the investigation.

"The settlement is complex, but at its core reflects Mount Sinai’s commitment to safeguarding our patients’ confidential information and protecting our clinicians," Mount Sinai said in a statement to the New York Times.

Mount Sinai's settlement is just the latest the Justice Department has reached with major hospitals providing transgender procedures. Texas Children's Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Connecticut Children's Hospital have agreed to halt youth transgender procedures in the past couple of months.

Philippines defense chief calls out China after note interrupts remarks at Seoul forum: 'Coercion, bullying'

Gilberto C. Teodoro, the Defense Secretary for the Philippines, publicly bashed China after he was handed a note outlining China's position on the South China Sea while he was speaking during the Seoul Defense Dialogue in South Korea on Tuesday.

While Teodoro was in the middle of speaking, a man in a white sports coat walked up behind him and placed a sheet of paper on the table beside him.

"I have a note here, I think this is from China," Teodoro said, stopping short in his remarks.

"And may I read it?" he asked the crowd, before proceeding to read aloud from the note.

"China's position on the South China Sea arbitration is clear, consistent and firm. They have no position. The arbitration violates fundamental principles of international law," the note read.

The note likely referred to the 2016 legal case that the Philippines brought against China under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). China has long rebuked the ruling and consistently accuses the Philippines of infringing on China's sovereignty in the disputed waters.

The long-running dispute has created a number of tense standoffs between the two countries' navies.

"How can you deal with a country in an international forum – beyond the question asked to me – disrespecting the organizers of this forum, how do you expect to deal with it civilly?" Teodoro asked the crowd.

"I ask you the question, is this the right paper to post to me when I'm being asked a question on the floor? And how will you treat this kind of behavior? It not only disrespects, shows, if this is a Chinese position sent to me, it not only disrespects international law, throwing UNCLOS to the floor and trampling upon it, but it also disrespects the basic decency accorded that should be accorded to our most gracious host, the Republic of Korea and the rest of the audience here," he continued.

New risk for US consumers as Iran-backed attacks threaten a second major oil chokepoint

Iran-backed Houthi rebels struck Saudi Arabia with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones Tuesday, hitting multiple energy targets, including the facilities of the world's largest oil company.

The attacks on Aramco, the state-owned national oil company of Saudi Arabia that produces 10 million barrels of oil per day, threaten to tighten pressure on a second critical oil route as the Middle East war continues to restrict shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Aramco notably supplies roughly 10% of the world's total oil demand. And attacks on its facilities raise the risk of higher oil, shipping and transportation costs that could hit U.S. consumers in coming months — just in time for the 2026 midterm elections.

IRAN CALLS ON HOUTHIS TO PREPARE TO CUT OFF RED SEA GATEWAY — CAN THE TERROR GROUP DO IT?

The attacks hit the southern Saudi Arabian cities of Jazan, Najran, Abha and Khamis Mushait, wounding 73 people and sparking fires at energy facilities and utilities that temporarily forced some operations to stop, according to Saudi officials. The Jazan site includes a refinery capable of processing roughly 400,000 barrels of crude per day, according to the Associated Press.

Tuesday's strikes land at a particularly vulnerable moment for global energy markets. With oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz sharply reduced, Saudi Arabia has redirected more crude toward the Red Sea — increasing the importance of the Bab el-Mandeb, where the Houthis have already threatened and attacked Saudi-linked shipping.

The Energy Information Administration estimates that just 4.9 million barrels of oil and petroleum liquids moved through Hormuz per day in the second quarter of 2026, down from 21.6 million barrels per day before the conflict. Before the conflict 20% of the world's oil moved through the consequential waterway.

Traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb, meanwhile, averaged 8.1 million barrels per day during the quarter as Saudi Arabia redirected more crude to bypass Hormuz amid ongoing conflict.

That creates a potentially costly vulnerability: renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure or commercial vessels could put pressure on two crucial oil routes at once, raising the risk of higher crude, shipping and transportation costs that could eventually reach U.S. consumers.

Brent crude was trading near $99 per barrel Tuesday.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s strikes, saying the group had used "dozens of ballistic missiles and drones" against Aramco facilities, the Jazan industrial zone and a Saudi air base, according to Xinhua.

RUBIO ACCUSES IRAN OF FLYING IRGC PERSONNEL INTO YEMEN AS HOUTHI THREAT ESCALATES

The Houthis said the operation was retaliation for Saudi airstrikes in Yemen and threatened "stronger and wider strikes" if Riyadh’s military campaign continues.

The escalation also comes with a warning already issued by President Donald Trump.

After the Houthis struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea in July, Trump said the U.S. would hold Iran responsible if the group attacked ships again and threatened "major military punishment" against both Tehran and the Houthis.

"If they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves," Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time.

The warning followed the Houthis’ announcement of a maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia and attacks on Saudi tankers in the Red Sea. The escalation sent Brent crude above $100 per barrel amid fears that disruption could spread from the Strait of Hormuz to the Bab el-Mandeb.

The latest strikes targeted Saudi territory and energy infrastructure rather than ships, leaving unclear whether the White House considers them to cross the line Trump drew in July. It creates a new test for the administration as Houthi attacks increasingly intersect with the wider conflict over Iran and regional energy supplies.

The Trump administration has previously authorized U.S. strikes against Houthi weapons and infrastructure in Yemen in response to attacks and threats against American forces and shipping. A White House report says Trump directed those actions to defend U.S. forces and protect American national-security interests.

The U.S. Maritime Administration also maintains an active advisory warning that the Houthis continue to pose a threat to commercial vessels in the southern Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden.

From November 2023 through October 2025, the Houthis carried out more than 100 attacks on commercial vessels affecting more than 60 nations, according to the MARAD advisory. The attacks forced major shipping companies to avoid the Red Sea and reroute vessels around the Cape of Good Hope, adding time to voyages and increasing fuel, freight and insurance costs.

The Houthis renewed that threat in July when they targeted Saudi oil tankers and threatened a blockade of Saudi shipping through the Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia’s increased reliance on the route makes another sustained disruption potentially more consequential. The EIA says alternate routes used to bypass disrupted waterways are longer, more expensive and limited in capacity.

The latest strikes threaten to revive pressure on the Red Sea route just as the Iran conflict has made the Persian Gulf route more difficult to use. The Houthis may lack the capability to permanently close the Bab el-Mandeb, but repeated missile, drone or tanker attacks could still reduce traffic through the waterway if shipping companies determine the risks are too high.

Saudi Arabia condemned Tuesday’s strikes on civilian and economic assets and vowed to defend its territory. The Saudi-led coalition described the attacks as a "dangerous escalation" and said it would take measures to deter further attacks.

The immediate economic impact will depend on how quickly Saudi Arabia restores affected operations and whether commercial shipping continues moving through the Bab el-Mandeb.

Reporter's Notebook: Dem rebels expose cracks in Jeffries’ House leadership

Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, may retire from Congress next year with a reputation that is anything but gilded among his fellow Democrats.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash., is seeking re-election in a competitive district. But some of her colleagues may consider "MGP" to be notorious if she returns to Capitol Hill in January.

The House of Representatives is now out — again — until Sept. 14. That follows a six-week sabbatical over the summer. But were it not for Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez, House Republican leaders may have had no other choice but to send members home early a few days ago. The duo committed something close to a parliamentary heresy, handing the GOP the necessary votes on a procedural matter to unlock the floor for the majority.

Republicans lacked the votes to do it on their own – had Golden and Gluesenkamp not intervened.

JEFFRIES THREATENS 'SERIOUS RESPONSE' AFTER DEMOCRATS HELP GOP ADVANCE ANTI-SOCIALISM VOTE

However, the most schismatic betrayal was that neither one briefed Democratic leaders on what they planned to do. Congressional leaders from both sides are never pleased with members who stray from the party line. Especially on a procedural vote, which is almost always the responsibility of the majority to pass. But at the very least, leaders like to be clued in. They might give someone a pass if they understand the reasoning.

"Did they give you a heads up that they were going to vote with Republicans on that rule?" asked Fox News' Kelly Phares of House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, D-Mass.

"They did not. They surprised us," answered Clark.

Yours truly observed to Rep. Tim Kennedy, D-N.Y., that in politics it’s always best to "stab someone in the front" rather than "in the back."

"There’s a lot to be said for that," replied Kennedy.

Let’s start with the nature of the dissent by Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez.

Most major pieces of legislation in the House need what's called a "rule" before the body can debate the measure. The House must debate and approve a "rule," dictating how much time and what amendments would be in order. The House can’t debate a bill until it first OKs a rule. And except on rare occasions, the majority party is expected to carry the rule. It’s simply something the minority party rarely assists with – except in extreme circumstances.

Last week, the House planned to debate a resolution to condemn socialism, green-light the SAVE America Act, maintain the number of justices on the Supreme Court at nine and consider a plan to help the nation’s lobster industry. The House adopted the rule, 210-208. However, five Republicans voted nay on the rule.

It’s about the math.

Those GOP defections would have killed the rule and frozen the floor for the rest of the week. In fact, the vote may have compelled House Republican leaders to cut everyone loose from Capitol Hill. The House was stalled considering any legislative traffic.

But Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez voted yes, unlocking the floor for the remainder of the week.

Democrats seethed at their colleagues for blindsiding them.

"The two Democrats who have voted to move a procedural bill forward didn’t do the right thing," said Kennedy.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., Clark and House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., issued a rare, joint condemnation of the dissenting duo. They characterized the revolt "a significant breach of trust," adding it "necessitates a serious response."

"It’s a mistake to vote against our caucus. We have to be unified," said Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-Pa.

Golden said he voted with Republicans so the House could pass the bill safeguarding Maine’s lobster industry.

"It’s about protecting the working-class communities those men and women support. In my district, lobster fishing is the backbone of towns up and down the coast," said Golden. "In some towns, 20 to 40% of residents hold a lobster license."

Political observers view the infighting as a misstep for the party ahead of November.

"As a member, you should be able to communicate with your leaders and how you intend to vote," said Rep. Susie Lee, D-Nev. "Something was skipped along the way."

While some lawmakers blamed Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez, others said this was the fault of Jeffries. Others put it on Clark. Still, there were those pinning this on the entire leadership team.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., knows something about his own members undercutting him. Republicans stripped McCarthy of the speaker’s gavel nearly three years ago. But the California Republican believes the problem with Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez falls on the shoulder of Jeffries.

"You would know who would be the five to eight Democrats who would leverage that [vote]," said McCarthy. "You would have reached out to them."

One former Democratic aide noted that it wasn’t even what Jeffries, Clark and Aguilar said in their statement. But it was the very fact that a statement appeared. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., never would have sent a statement. Her leadership power was implicit. Everyone knew not to cross her. Or, if there was an issue, at least have a conversation.

HOUSE CONSERVATIVES DERAIL GOP AGENDA IN SAVE AMERICA ACT SHOWDOWN

Jeffries has not been the House’s top Democrat in the majority. That could change if Democrats win the House this fall. But McCarthy argued the statement said a lot about Jeffries.

"If Hakeem has to put out a statement that he's strong, it's a sign that he is weak," said McCarthy.

One senior House Democratic leadership source said rank-and-file members demanded accountability by Jeffries. Golden is done in January. Gluesenkamp Perez has repeatedly defied political gravity in a district which favors President Donald Trump. The source didn’t believe anything Machiavellian was afoot between Democratic leaders and Gluesenkamp Perez. But the source indicated that Gluesenkamp Perez tussling with the Democratic brass probably helps the Washington Democrat back home.

Still, some Democrats demanded retribution.

"I think there should be consequences. I think at the end of the day, we have a caucus united against what Republicans are trying to do," said Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee.

Actions speak louder than words. Remember that Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez voted against a "rule" in the House. Gluesenkamp Perez appeared at an unrelated meeting of the Rules Committee the next day. During her testimony, Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., the top Democrat on the panel, swiveled around in his chair and sat with his back to his fellow Democrat.

Jeffries hoped to turn a corner with the renegades. He spoke briefly with Golden. But had a deeper conversation with Gluesenkamp Perez.

"Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and myself were able to talk in a very forward-looking way about how to make sure that we're all on the same page as we approach the midterm elections and beyond," said Jeffries.

He indicated that McGovern and Gluesenkamp Perez also talked.

But the leader was cryptic when pressed why he even had to issue an admonition.

"Does that say something about where the Democratic Caucus is and if they follow your leadership?" I pressed Jeffries.

Not really.

Was the statement just a warning shot as Jeffries tries to flex his muscles in anticipation of becoming speaker and presiding over a Democratic majority next year? Where’s that "serious response" that Democratic leaders spoke of?

Some Democrats who are angry about the desertion will demand action. And if Jeffries doesn’t respond forcefully – despite a declaration otherwise – some members may interpret the warning statement as prattle.

That said, Democrats need Gluesenkamp Perez to win her district in order to claim the majority. And more specifically, Jeffries needs Gluesenkamp Perez to support him for speaker if Democrats have control next year and the margin is close.

Professional eater inhales a burrito to reclaim a title she had lost as world's fastest

Leah Shutkever has done it. The influencer/professional eater has set the world record for fastest time to eat a burrito for the third time to reclaim a title she had lost to speed eater Miki Sudo in 2022.

According to the Guinness World Records, she has 42 records to her name. Quite an accomplishment for someone who got into it by accident.

"My origin story of breaking Guinness World Records titles is one that I’ll never get bored of," Shutkever told Guinness World Records.

"I had newly started up a YouTube channel doing food challenges, and I found an official record of fastest time to eat a Chocolate Orange, and I had a go, filmed it for YouTube, posted it, and thought nothing else of it."

She was then contacted by a TV show to make her attempt official, which she did. She's been hooked ever since she broke that record.

Shutkever first set the fastest time to eat a 1.35 pound burrito in 2019. She broke her own record with a time of 32.35 seconds in 2022, months before Sudo took it down.

In August, at the Guinness World Records HQ in London, she took back her title by inhaling a burrito in 30.75 seconds. An impressive feat that easily beat Sudo's time of 31.47.

What a performance by Shutkever. She left it all out there. Everything, but a single morsel of the burrito. That's how you take down one of 42 world records.

A flight attendant aboard a United Airlines flight sprang into action when an exhausted mother dozed off and her baby began slipping from her lap — catching the child before offering to hold the baby so the weary mom could get some much-needed rest.

Passenger John Frehse shared the touching encounter on Instagram, praising flight attendant Monique Harris for her quick response aboard United flight 3486 from Newark, New Jersey, to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"United should be very proud," Frehse wrote, adding that the new mother had fallen asleep when her baby was "about to fall out of her lap."

Republic Airways, which operates flights for United and other airlines, praised Harris in an email to Fox News Digital.

A coalition of 9/11 family members, first responders, and elected officials gathered on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday to deliver a message to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani: stay away from this year's Sept. 11 memorial service.

"This mayor is not serving us," Charles Wolf, who lost his wife on 9/11, said at a noon news conference. "He's serving himself. We are asking respectfully that he not show up."

"Even though there is going to be other politicians there, these are the politicians that helped us push beneficial laws through and literally held our hand during that time," Wolf continued. "Mayor Mamdani has not shown any of that, none of it. He just wants to be there because he wants to be there."

"So we are asking him to respect the fact that that trauma is revived during the ceremony. It is a private ceremony. It is not a public ceremony. Mayor Mamdani, please do not come."

"We don't believe in what he believes in, and we really want us to be left alone," Galante said. "This 25th anniversary is for victims and survivors to blend in and pray that day for all the families — not have a circus around us."

"He didn't go to the 20th … so I don't know why he's so adamant about going to this one when we just ask that he just respect us from 7 to 11 and let us have our mourning."

The objections stem directly from the mayor’s current policy positions, political associations, and key appointments, according to the speakers at the news conference.

Cheri Sparacio, whose husband, Tom, was killed in the South Tower, said the petition was not about the mayor's background or faith, but his public actions. She noted Mamdani’s appointment of chief counsel Ramzi Kassem — who previously represented individuals accused of terror ties — and his past ties to figures who have downplayed terror threats.

"That is what we object to," she said.

Authorities in Miami identified the five people killed when an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, crashing into vehicles and catching on fire.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz released the names of the victims in a news conference on Tuesday.

They were identified as: Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and 47-year-old Javierkys Reyes Quevedo.

Hungary has demanded that 10 individuals with the Russian mission depart the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Orban — who is not related to Hungary's former Prime Minister Viktor Orban — noted in a post on X that the 10 people had participated in actions that were "unacceptable" according to the Vienna Convention.

"Acting on my instructions, on Tuesday the relevant official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Russian ambassador to Hungary that, according to the assessment of the Hungarian authorities, 10 members of the Russian mission had engaged in activities in Hungary that are unacceptable for diplomats under the Vienna Convention. The Hungarian side has therefore called on the individuals in question to leave Hungary," she declared in the post.

Over the past 12 months, Kirk has tried to carry her late husband’s mission forward. She does not believe the answer to his death is to retreat further into separate camps where people only speak to those who already agree with them.

Jelly Roll uninvited from law enforcement event after Trump jokes, but source says he had no knowledge of it

Country artist Jelly Roll was formally uninvited to a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in November hosted by Law Enforcement Today to support the Federal Law Enforcement Offices Association (FLEOA) Foundation on Friday, following his stint on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

Law Enforcement Today's Kyle Reyes told Fox News Digital that Jelly Roll didn't respond to the invitation sent on April 26, 2026, on behalf of FLEOA, but that they wanted to withdraw it in the wake of the Kimmel segment. The invitation, obtained by Fox News Digital, asked Jelly Roll if he would consider performing a few worship songs to close out the Big Blue Bash.

A source told Fox News Digital that Jelly Roll's team was never reached or spoken to about the November event and said they found out about it on social media.

The event is scheduled to take place in November at Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump's resort in Palm Beach, Florida. Law Enforcement Toady is running the gala to raise money for FLEOA and the FLEOA Foundation. The president of FLEOA said in a statement included on the Big Blue Bash invitation, "FLEOA is a non-partisan, professional association committed to supporting law enforcement across all agencies and administrations."

Reyes, who runs the Blue Lives Matter account on X, posted on Friday, "On April 26, 2026, we made the mistake of sending a formal invitation to country artist Jelly Roll to perform at this year's Second Annual Big Blue Bash at Mar-A-Lago, the home of President Trump."

"The event is a fundraiser for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that takes care of the families of wounded and fallen officers," he continued. "Our organization, which owns the largest police news outlet in the world, is running the event. We'll be joined by the heads of all of the federal law enforcement agencies, sheriffs, police chiefs and supporters."

"This year's theme is American Superheroes, and we'll be joined by superheroes such as Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk), Dean Cain (Superman) and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules). We're formally withdrawing the invitation for Jelly Roll," Reyes added.

The country star guest-hosted "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and took aim at Trump's weight, physical fitness and approval ratings.

"Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your penis again," Jelly Roll said. "It’s crazy. Think about this, y’all. In the last few years, I’ve lost 300 pounds. That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump."

4 Florida family members found dead after small plane goes down off the Bahamas

Four Florida family members have been found deceased after a plane they were traveling on went down off the coast of the Bahamas, a family member said Tuesday.

The U.S. Coast Guard had joined the search for the aircraft that authorities in the Bahamas believe "crash-landed" in the ocean after departing from Great Harbour Cay on Monday.

Pilot Mario Lamar, 80, his wife Lili, 79, and two of their grandchildren, Sofia Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22, were identified by family as those on board the PA-34 Piper five-seater aircraft that was heading to Opa-locka, Florida.

"It is with profound sadness that we confirm all four of our family members have been found deceased. The search and recovery mission was conducted alongside family members and civilians who answered our call for help. Our relatives ultimately located our loved ones and had to bring them aboard their own vessels," Silvia Larrieu, the niece of Mario and Lamar, said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

"We are now in communication and working with the U.S. Coast Guard to bring our loved ones home safely and with dignity. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us, searched alongside us, and kept our family in their prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy as we mourn this unimaginable loss," she added.

AMAZON CARGO PLANE OVERRUNS MIAMI AIRPORT RUNWAY

Larrieu told the Miami Herald that the family was coming home to Florida after visiting a vacation property in Great Harbour Cay over Labor Day weekend and that "they’ve spent their whole life going there." Data from the website FlightAware showed the plane descended from 10,000 feet to 3,700 feet in about three minutes before vanishing from radar.

Larrieu also said to the newspaper that Mario Lamar had years of experience as a pilot and always kept the aircraft in "pristine" shape.

U.S. Coast Guard Southeast said Monday it was assisting authorities in the Bahamas "following a report of a downed aircraft with four souls on board approx 15 mi off Andros Island," with a Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane joining the search.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force said it received a report around 2:20 p.m. on Monday "that an aircraft may have gone down in the waters off Red Bays."

"Air traffic control subsequently lost contact with the aircraft approximately 13 miles west of Andros Island," the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.

There’s no argument that Michigan needed a little bit of luck to get past Western Michigan 13-12. Bryce Underwood received a second Hail Mary opportunity as officials determined that a Western Michigan defended touched his first throw in the final moments with one second left on the clock. Underwood found J.J. Buchanan for the game-winning score.

Is that a real reason to storm the field and act like you beat Ohio State? An emphatic no, says Carton, whose "Craig Carton Show" premieres on OutKick on Tuesday. Carton put it better than I could.

Remember, it’s not as though Michigan was unranked (they were 16th going into Saturday) and were up against Ohio State or Texas or Alabama or Oregon or even Rutgers for that matter.

The Wolverines were playing Western Michigan that plays in the Mid-American Conference and have been an FBS program since 1962. The Broncos have never beaten an opponent inside the top 20 of the Associated Press poll.

"That’s not a game to be celebrated if you’re a Michigan fan or a Michigan alumni," Carton added. "That’s a game to give you a warning about what’s to come for the rest of this season. Western Michigan has been ranked in the AP poll once ever – that coming in 2016 when they were 13-1 under P.J. Fleck. A victory over a blue blood would have been the biggest win in the program’s history.

The Big Ten and Mid-American Conference both released statements on the clock controversy after the game, reiterating that a Broncos defender touched the ball while out of bounds with one second left.

Michigan fans’ celebration was certainly silly and they will be needled for it until the next cray thing happens.

For now, the team itself has to prepare for noon ET showdown with Oklahoma on Saturday as questions surround Underwood about his status as QB1 for the future.

Smithsonian head Lonnie Bunch to retire amid allegations of far-left woke messaging at museums

The head of the Smithsonian Institution announced his retirement Tuesday, stepping down amid an escalating clash with the Trump administration over the leadership and direction of the nation’s museums.

Lonnie Bunch III, who has led the Smithsonian since 2019 and was the founding director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, said he will leave the post by the end of the year.

"It is with very mixed emotions and heartfelt gratitude that I announce my retirement from the Smithsonian," Bunch said in a press release. "I have spent nearly half of my life working at and being part of the Smithsonian family, and what a privilege it has been. There is no place like the Smithsonian — it has been one of the great loves of my life, and I am extraordinarily proud of what we have accomplished together."

Bunch’s departure comes as the Trump administration has intensified scrutiny of the Smithsonian, accusing its leadership of allowing progressive ideology to shape its presentation of American history and raising concerns about potential violations of federal nondiscrimination law.

In a letter recently made public by the Department of the Interior, the administration said the Smithsonian leadership’s "institutional culture may have resulted in significant violations of Federal antidiscrimination law," including allegedly creating a hostile work environment and allocating opportunities, funding and other benefits based on race, ethnicity and other protected characteristics.

The letter did not include specific evidence of illegal activity, and the Department of the Interior did not provide further information when previously reached for comment by Fox News Digital.

The administration warned that federal agencies could withdraw certain forms of support if its concerns are not addressed, saying an "appropriate response" from the Smithsonian "must likewise address executive leadership and institutional ideology."

The pressure follows a 2025 executive order directing officials to seek the removal of what the administration called "improper ideology" from the Smithsonian.

Bunch became the Smithsonian’s 14th secretary in June 2019, making him the first African American and first historian to hold the position. Bunch first joined the Smithsonian in 1978 and has spent nearly four decades at the institution, apart from a period when he served as president of the Chicago Historical Society.

Chief Justice John Roberts, who serves as chancellor of the Smithsonian, praised Bunch’s tenure and said the institution would work with him to ensure a smooth transition.

"From his days as a young curator at the National Air and Space and American History Museums through his tenure as the founding director of the African American History and Culture Museum and culminating in his distinguished service for the past seven years in the Smithsonian’s top job, Secretary Bunch has pursued excellence in the telling of our nation’s story," Roberts said.

With defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh taking over the program and veteran offensive coordinator Brian Daboll arriving to shepherd quarterback Cam Ward in his sophomore year, the Tennessee Titans are aiming to prove that its painful baseline rebuild is finally giving way to a competitive new era in the AFC South.

Last Year

The Titans endured a brutal 2025 campaign, stumbling to a 3–14 finish and landing near the bottom of the league in both scoring offense and scoring defense. Rookie starter Cam Ward showed occasional dynamic flashes under pressure, while Tony Pollard provided steady work out of the backfield with a 1,082-yard rushing season. In fairness, the NFL didn’t do them many favors, giving them a really tough schedule even after a bad year. Ultimately, the lack of success on both sides of the ball led to the mid-season exit of Brian Callahan.

Offseason additions and subtractions

To reset the organization, general manager Mike Borgonzi orchestrated a sweeping offseason overhaul.

The headline moves started at the top by hiring former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh as head coach and bringing in Brian Daboll to call plays. The problem I have is that neither has really proven successful with rebuilding teams – maybe Daboll more than Saleh.

I do like teams that are intentional about upgrading areas. When you have a lot of areas to upgrade, there are only so many areas you can really make an impact. They signed former New York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and tight end Daniel Bellinger, added edge rusher John Franklin-Myers and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, and bolstered the secondary with cornerbacks Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott alongside safety Tony Adams.

They also brought in veteran quarterback Mitchell Trubisky as high-end insurance. In the draft, Tennessee made massive moves by taking wideout Carnell Tate at No. 4 overall and trading back into the first round for pass rusher Keldric Faulk. Major subtractions included letting lingering free agents walk and restructuring line depth to accommodate their fresh rookie class.

Roster

The offense features a far more dynamic receiving corps with rookie Carnell Tate on the perimeter alongside Wan'Dale Robinson and Calvin Ridley, providing Ward with the quick-separation weapons he lacked as a rookie. Their line isn’t exactly top-notch, coming in at 29th for the year, but I do think there is potential they are better than they are graded at currently.

Betting Outlook

If you plan to bet the over 6.5 wins for Tennessee, I think you attribute it to the improved weapons for Ward, the tough schedule from last season that still saw them get three wins, and the new coaching staff. If you want the under, it is looking at an offensive line that is ranked at 29th, and a defensive line ranked at 17th. The Texans have a great defense, but there are questions on that roster as well. The Colts have a quarterback coming back from an Achilles tear, and the Jaguars lost some key pieces. I have them right at six wins this year, which improves from last year, but I don’t think I can bet one way or another on them.

Alex Van Halen has some thoughts about former bandmate Sammy Hagar.

During an interview with Brazilian music journalist Marcelo Vieira published earlier this month, Alex ripped into Hagar when asked about his 2011 memoir, "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock."

"I don't know what he wrote, and I don't wanna know," he said, according to a translation from the original Portuguese interview published by Roadie Crew. "In my opinion, Sammy Hagar is a complete idiot."

Hagar has since responded to the insult, writing in an Instagram comment over the weekend, "This comment and post is so unnecessary at this time in our lives, but I guess the truth hurts sometimes. Peace already."

The latest jab comes after years of tension between the former bandmates, who have not spoken in more than two decades, according to Hagar.

A representative for Alex did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Alex previously rejected an invitation to join Hagar and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony for their 2024 "Best of All Worlds" tour, which celebrated Hagar's era with the band.

"I'm not interested," Alex told Billboard at the time. "They're not doing the band justice. They can do what they want to do. That's not my business."

Alex also largely focused on Van Halen's original lineup with David Lee Roth in his 2024 memoir, "Brothers," while largely omitting Hagar's decade-long run with the band.

Earlier this year, Hagar suggested he would "never play" with Alex again more than 20 years after their last tour together.

"I'm the biggest Pink Floyd fan. I see David Gilmour say, 'I will never play with Roger Waters again,' and I know what he means," the 78-year-old told Classic Rock. "I feel that way about Alex Van Halen. They're negative people."

Hagar, who replaced Roth as lead singer of Van Halen in 1985, remained with the band until 1996. He later reunited with the group in 2004 for a reunion tour.

The singer has suggested that Alex's health problems and inability or unwillingness to continue playing drums may have contributed to the tension. Hagar speculated that Alex could be frustrated that he and Anthony continue to perform Van Halen songs while the drummer is no longer touring.

Hagar told Rolling Stone in April 2025 that he and Alex had not spoken in 21 years.

"I hate to say it, but I dreamt about Alex the other night, man," he told the magazine. "It was crazy. And it was so friggin' real. I was saying, 'What are you p---ed off at me about, man? What the f---? Now, just tell me what your problem is. What did I do? Just tell me.'"

Hagar said he thinks Alex is upset with him "because I'm out doing it, and Mike [Anthony] and I are out doing it, and he can't. He's not a singer. He's not a guitar player. The internet worked its magic and identified her a short time later as Sara Smith. The Ole Miss alum went private on Instagram, but evidently not before she received several DMs.

Adidas apologizes after ad featuring former Israeli soldier who lost leg draws boycott calls

Adidas has issued an apology for any "offense" the company caused with its recent advertisement that featured an Israel Defense Forces veteran who lost a leg while serving.

"We recognize that an image used in a recent local activation by the local team has raised concerns and strong reactions. It was never our intent to cause offense and we apologize for anyone affected," the company said in a statement, according to The Times of Israel.

"We acknowledge the concerns that have been raised and are taking the feedback seriously."

Veteran Shalev Biton, who lost in May 2021 during the conflict in Gaza, was featured in the advertisement. The Hebrew-language video did not mention Biton's army service or an explanation of how he lost his leg.

Criticism falsely claimed that Biton was involved in the recent fighting in Gaza, with anti-Israel activists accusing him of participating in "genocide." In reality, his accident occurred more than five years ago when an anti-tank missile fired from inside Gaza hit the military vehicle he was in on the Israeli side of the border. Fellow soldier Staff Sgt. Omer Tabib was killed during the action.

SEC accuses LSU of letting Lane Kiffin run wild as expulsion vote coming Thursday in explosive court filing

The SEC filed an amended complaint Tuesday morning in an Alabama federal court, indicating that the conference is seriously considering drastic action against LSU.

After what unfolded last week in a Louisiana district court, it has become clear that the fight launched by LSU over the potential rostering of athletes with NFL experience has not gone over well with officials inside SEC headquarters.

Last Thursday, while SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey took the stand in a Baton Rouge courtroom, the conference filed a federal lawsuit against LSU, head coach Lane Kiffin and athletic department staffers. The lawsuit argued that the school was preventing SEC officials from exercising their First Amendment rights to govern the conference.

Sankey testified for more than three hours, a hearing OutKick attended, and the gamesmanship quickly disappeared. Behind the scenes, the SEC was preparing to take action against LSU over a fiasco that had placed the conference and its leadership at the center of what was viewed as an embarrassing situation in Birmingham.

"The SEC does not bring this action to declare any student-athlete ineligible or to prevent any student-athlete from participating in any athletic competition. This action is directed solely at the state actors who have violated, continue to violate, and threaten to further violate the SEC’s rights under the First Amendment," the complaint noted.

Will LSU be expelled from the SEC? The games continue off the field

The fight is now moving beyond the courtroom.

On Thursday, SEC officials will hold a special meeting to determine whether LSU could face expulsion from the conference. The meeting centers on concerns that school officials have lost control of Kiffin and the football program.

In the filing, SEC presidents and chancellors made it clear during a Sept. 4 meeting that they feel as though LSU has let Lane Kiffin run the football program however he wants, without guidance from the athletic department.

"Expressed great concern that Defendants Rousse and Ausberry have no meaningful control over Defendant Kiffin or the football program at LSU...The consensus at the September 4 meeting was and continues to be that LSU’s demonstrated lack of institutional control at the University level—including complete lack of control over Defendant Kiffin’s actions."

Simply put, the SEC feels as though the comments made by Kiffin over the past few weeks regarding this matter go against conference rules, and they feel as though the LSU athletic department has allowed Kiffin to run the football program without pressure from his own bosses.

Will this actually take place?

That's up to the member institutions, though the likelihood of the SEC expelling LSU from the conference feels pretty slim in the grand scheme of things.

But, in their updated filing on Tuesday, the SEC made it clear that they have the power to expel LSU from the conference, if enough votes are cast in favor of the move.

"Membership of a member may be terminated involuntarily at a meeting of the Chief Executive Officers. A vote of at least two-thirds of all the Chief Executive Officers is required to terminate membership. Any motion to terminate membership shall specify the effective date of the proposed termination," the complaint notes.

Right now, we are witnessing a fight between one of the biggest schools in the conference, and SEC members who are tired of being made fools of by Kiffin.

And, when Sankey took the stand last week inside a Baton Rouge courthouse, the stakes were raised in this matter to the point where the SEC has now made it clear that they are not going to just brush this under the table because LSU decided not to roster players like Dae'Quan Wright this past weekend.

This has obviously ruffled plenty of feathers, and Kiffin's comments during the Clemson game this past weekend regarding how much worse the outcome could have been if LSU had been able to roster pro players were seen as the school having zero control over its head coach.

"And they confirm the lack of institutional control over the athletics program at LSU that is required by Article 6 of the SEC Constitution and by the remaining provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws referenced above."

LSU has zero influence on decisions made by Lane Kiffin ... SEC notes

Not only is the SEC under the impression that LSU is allowing Lane Kiffin to run his football program without guidance from school officials, they see this as a slap in the face to the rules enacted regarding pro-athletes coming back to college.

"In light of the recalcitrance, lack of institutional control, and serious harm caused by the statements and conduct of LSU, the 15 SEC CEOs (other than LSU) have informally told the Commissioner (and President Plowman has directed the Commissioner) to issue a notice of the Special Meeting to be conducted on September 10, 2026, to consider the termination of LSU’s membership in the SEC, whether LSU renounces its intention to roster and play professional players on its football team, or not."

The SEC is obviously past the point of frustration with Lane Kiffin, and now we're about to find out how serious they are regarding penalties against the school in which they feel has embarrassed them enough.

Just when you thought the college football season would provide us an opportunity to talk about other things taking place outside a courtroom, the SEC decided to drop a public hammer on Tuesday.

FIBA said the alarm went off at 9:06 a.m. local time. The teams followed standard safety procedures and assembled outside before returning to their rooms at 9:27 a.m.

"Following a thorough inspection, it was confirmed that the alarm was activated due to the start of a fire in the garbage room located in the underground basement of a neighbouring parking facility," FIBA said in a statement.

"The Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident."

The U.S. team was not affected because the Americans are staying at a different hotel from the rest of the tournament field.

The incident came two days after an alarm forced players and coaches out of the same hotel at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday. That evacuation lasted about an hour and disrupted the sleep of teams scheduled to play later that day.

FIBA said Tuesday that the first alarm "was due to steam in the kitchen during its cleaning." Australia coach Sandy Brondello had previously said she was told someone activated an emergency alarm in an elevator, according to The Associated Press.

Tuesday’s evacuation occurred on the opening day of the knockout stage. Hungary and Japan were scheduled to play the first qualification game, followed by host Germany against South Korea. The winners will advance to face the U.S. and Belgium, respectively, in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

FIBA did not report any injuries or changes to the tournament schedule.

For whatever reason, the betting gods have rained down their fury on me over the past few days. I have been losing virtually every bet that I have placed. College football started, and I had the worst weekend I've ever had betting on the sport. I bet big on the Blue Jays yesterday and Dylan Cease let me down. Not exactly what I am looking for as a sports betting analyst. As always, the good news is that we get betting options daily, and we can get some of that money back on this one between the Angels and Red Sox.

The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of yet another lost season. They will almost certainly finish as the worst team in their division, and potentially the worst team in baseball. Another 100-loss season is on the horizon unless they can win seven of their final 18 games. Considering they are winning only 38% of their games, it seems a bit unlikely that they will get the seven wins needed to avoid the 100-loss fate. The only good news is that this team is being sold, and perhaps new ownership will turn this franchise around.

The other good news is that they get another start from their staff Ace, Reid Detmers. It has been a very strong season from Detmers this year, with him going 4-8 for the year, posting a 3.44 ERA, and a 1.06 WHIP. He is also 10th in baseball with 182 strikeouts. Detmers has been worse on the road this season, but his numbers aren't terrible. His road ERA is 3.80, compared with 3.21 at home. He has been fantastic since the start of August, going 37 innings and allowing just six earned runs. One of his worst starts of the season came against Boston, where he allowed five earned runs over five innings.

The Boston Red Sox avoided a disaster season by becoming one of the hottest teams in baseball history. They have been extremely streaky over the past couple of months, winning a ton, then losing a few in a row. They've won their past five games, including the series opener yesterday. However, even this win streak saw them lose six of their previous eight games before starting this streak. And before that, they won five games in a row again. The team is currently 15 games above .500 and owners of the second Wild Card spot.

Looking to extend this winning streak is tonight's starter, Patrick Sandoval. It is hard to bet against the Red Sox in any game recently because of how well they've played. For the year, Sandoval is 1-4 with a 4.41 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. He has only made 10 starts for Boston this year, and is allowing an earned run basically every other inning that he pitches. He hasn't been great lately, with 17 earned runs allowed over his last 30 innings of work. He didn't face the Angels this season, but their team is hitting just 4-for-17 against him in their careers.

As mentioned, betting against the Red Sox lately has been a bad investment for most people. However, they are fairly average at home this season, going just 36-34 for the year. The Angels are terrible on the road, though, at just 24-46. I'm going to take the Angels tonight through five innings behind Detmers. I don't know that they can pull off the full game, but I do think their starting pitching advantage will give them the edge in this game. Give me the Angels through five innings on the moneyline.

Florida sheriff's office arrests 59 sex offenders in joint operation with US Marshals

A two-month crackdown on registered sex offenders and predators in one Florida city led to 59 arrests after authorities conducted more than 500 compliance checks, according to the local sheriff’s office.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said its Offender Tracking Unit teamed up with the U.S. Marshals Service for "Operation Riverwatch," which ran across Jacksonville from June 15 through Aug. 14.

Detectives spent more than 230 hours conducting 535 checks of registered offenders and predators, the sheriff’s office said.

The checks led to the arrests of 59 men and women, ranging in age from 21 to 76, who authorities said violated rules they were required to follow after being released from prison or jail.

"These offenders found themselves back behind bars for breaking the rules," the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Florida law requires registered sexual offenders and predators to follow certain registration and reporting requirements. Violations can result in felony charges and additional registration requirements, depending on the offense, the sheriff’s office said.

Newsom admits democratic socialist ideas ‘mainstream’ in Democrat party: ‘Pretty aligned’

In an interview discussing his rumored 2028 presidential run, California Gov. Gavin Newsom asserted that the Democratic Party is "pretty aligned" with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), especially when it comes to universal healthcare, climate change and moving away from fossil fuel usage.

During an interview with "PBS NewsHour," Newsom was questioned about what recent democratic socialist victories across the country mean for the Democratic Party.

"If you have these candidates and this platform that is clearly animating the base, energizing turnout, should more of those ideas be worked into the broader Democratic platform?" Newsom was asked.

"I think they are," Newsom shot back. "I mean, we want money out of politics. I’ve been supporting clean money campaigns for decades."

The interviewer pressed Newsom further, saying, "There seems to be some distance between [Democratic] leadership and those DSA candidates."

"But, not the ideas," Newsom responded.

"I believe in universal healthcare, and I believe in Medicare for All, the party does overwhelmingly," he said. "And so, if it’s about more money in your pocket, lowering costs, getting money out of politics, if it’s about Medicare for All, I think we’re pretty aligned."

He added, "It’s about recognizing that we’ve got a planet that is getting hotter and drier and that we’ve got to address the issue of climate change, we want energy security, and we want to move off fossil fuels. That’s a DSA position, that’s a mainstream position within the Democratic Party."

Newsom dismissed worry about democratic socialist influence in American politics, saying, "I think in many ways, it’s just a label … it’s just such a familiar label to me, we call them progressives."

Fox News Digital reached out to Newsom’s office for additional comment. Fox News Digital also reached out to the DSA and to the Democratic National Committee for comment.

The DSA is the pre-eminent socialist political group in the U.S. This year, the group rolled out an updated platform that includes eliminating the Senate and replacing the president and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by Congress. Additionally, the updated platform includes amnesty for all immigrants and defunding the Department of War.

This is in addition to the DSA’s already existing policy platform, which calls for an "immediate end to all deportations," free migration between countries without restrictive immigration controls, and "extending full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens."

Once considered a fringe movement on the Democratic Party’s progressive wing, the DSA has been gaining relevance, with several of its members toppling longtime establishment party figures. This has prompted many to speculate that the DSA represents the Democratic Party’s future.
