Left-wing interviewer presses Ro Khanna on whether Hamas was justified to attack Israel on October 7

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., refused to say that any attacks on Israel during the Oct. 7 Hamas attack could be justified despite repeated questioning from a far-left journalist on Tuesday.

The exchange came after Drop Site reporter Jeremy Scahill asked Khanna during a livestream event about the congressman's recent claims that he was detained by armed Israeli settlers while visiting the West Bank last week.

Though Khanna expressed support for ending the Israeli "occupation" of Gaza and accusing Israel of "apartheid" and "genocide,", Scahill took issue with Khanna's reluctance to enact a total arms embargo on Israel.

"What you're saying is that the accountability then doesn't lie on American policy toward Israel," Scahill told Khanna. "It's sort of something abstract. 'Well, Israeli civilians could die.' Israeli civilians are dying in these attacks because of the apartheid."

Scahill then appeared to argue that the terrorist attacks against Israel could be justified as efforts to "kill Israeli soldiers."

"You know, do Palestinians have a right to kill Israeli soldiers, Congressman? On October 7, when they attacked the military bases in the Gaza envelope, did the Al-Qassam Brigades and Saraya al-Quds have a right to kill Israeli soldiers? Yes or no?" Scahill asked.

"I mean, I think October 7's attack was a terrorist attack, so I don't justify it," Khanna answered.

Scahill insisted that the "first targets" of the Oct. 7 attacks were "multiple military bases" and asked if there was any justification in attacking them.

"I am not for violence in any way. I mean, I am for making sure that we end the occupation," Khanna began.

"Do they have a right to do it, Congressman? Do they have a right to attack Israeli soldiers?" Scahill pressed.

"No, I'm not going to say that Hamas had a right to attack Israeli soldiers or kill Israelis. I don't think that advances peace or advances Palestinian statehood," Khanna said.

Khanna defended Israel's right to fight back against Hamas for the attack, though he still accused Israel of being guilty of genocide. However, he continued to face pushback from Scahill for refusing to answer whether Palestinians could be justified in killing Israeli soldiers.

"It's a double standard. You're saying there are ways that Israel should be able to kill Palestinians, but there is never a condition under which Palestinians can attack armed uniformed soldiers of a force that is still considered an occupying force under international law," Scahill said.

Khanna is one of several Democratic politicians who have criticized Israel since its war against Hamas. Opposition to Israel has since become a top political issue among Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.

Ambassador Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, recently introduced "pro-Semitism," an educational vision centered on celebrating Jewish contributions to America alongside the continued fight against antisemitism.

Kaploun underlined his new push by saying, "the Jewish people are more than the hatred that defines us." His remarks came during America's 250th Birthday Shabbat Dinner, where government officials, Jewish leaders, educators and community members gathered to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary.

The evening also served as the launch of the J250 Initiative, a landmark educational project dedicated to advancing public understanding of the profound, foundational role Jewish Americans have played in the American story.

WORLD LEADERS, DIGNITARIES PAY TRIBUTE TO AMERICA ON HISTORIC 250TH BIRTHDAY

The launch comes as the FBI's most recent annual hate crime data shows anti-Jewish incidents reached their highest level since the bureau began tracking the statistics in 1991.

According to the FBI's 2024 Hate Crime Statistics, law enforcement agencies reported 1,938 anti-Jewish hate crime incidents. Although Jews comprise roughly 2% of the U.S. population, they were the targets of nearly 69% of all religion-based hate crimes reported nationwide. Organizers say that while antisemitism must continue to be confronted, educating Americans about Jewish contributions offers another powerful way to combat prejudice.

The J250 Initiative reflects what organizers describe as a shift away from a defensive, reactive approach to combating antisemitism and toward an inspiring, proactive celebration of Jewish contributions throughout American history. They say rather than allowing Jewish identity to be viewed primarily through the lens of persecution, the project highlights what organizers call the nation's "Jewish American Golden Age," by celebrating generations of Jewish patriots, entrepreneurs, scientists, physicians, public servants, soldiers, philanthropists and civic leaders whose contributions have helped shape and strengthen the fabric of the republic since its founding.

The core mission of J250 is to uncover overlooked stories from the American Revolution through modern American history.

Among the first individuals to be featured are Haym Salomon, the Revolutionary War financier whose support helped sustain General George Washington's army; Francis Salvador, widely recognized as the first Jewish American to die fighting for American independence; and Continental Army officer Solomon Bush. Organizers say these are only a few of the 250 stories that demonstrate the enduring impact Jewish Americans have had on the nation's history and development.

The initiative also highlights more recent Jewish Americans whose contributions helped shape the nation's culture, science, medicine and public life.

As a Jewish immigrant, Irving Berlin arrived in the United States as a child after fleeing persecution and went on to become one of America's most celebrated composers and songwriters. His classics, including God Bless America, White Christmas and There's No Business Like Show Business, helped shape the soundtrack of the nation and remain woven into America's cultural identity.

The project also recognizes American Jewish physician Dr. Jonas Salk, whose development of the first successful polio vaccine stands among the greatest medical breakthroughs in history. His discovery saved millions of lives and transformed public health worldwide. By choosing not to patent the vaccine, he ensured it could be widely distributed, protecting generations of children from polio worldwide.

THE REVOLUTIONARY LANDMARKS WHERE WASHINGTON, ADAMS AND JEFFERSON CHANGED AMERICA

Another featured American is American Jewish baseball legend Sandy Koufax, who rose to become one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to multiple World Series championships and earning three Cy Young Awards. At the height of his career in 1965, Koufax chose to sit out Game 1 of the World Series because it fell on Yom Kippur, a decision that became one of the defining moments in American sports. "It is only by renewing these foundational lessons that we can ensure the promise of America burns brightly for the next 250 years."

Kaploun also reflected on his family's immigration to the United States. "My great-great-grandfather immigrated from Galicia in the 1880s. My great-grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1913," he said. "They could have never dreamed that their great or great-great grandson would one day be hosting America's Birthday Shabbat Dinner. But that is exactly the American dream."

He said America's founding ideals of religious liberty, freedom of speech and equal opportunity created an environment in which generations of immigrants, including Jewish Americans, could contribute to the nation's success while remaining faithful to their heritage.

Physician and philanthropist Dr. Miriam Adelson echoed the evening's themes of unity, gratitude, and hope.

"I love America as I love Israel," Adelson told attendees... We need to hope, we need to love each other. Maybe the next generation will be better and better."

Her remarks reinforced the initiative's message of fostering greater understanding, mutual respect, and optimism for the future.

For organizers, J250 represents more than a historical project. Tim Walz becomes GOP punchline in sweeping new war on welfare fraud

EXCLUSIVE: Senate Republicans are naming the centerpiece of a 12-figure anti-fraud package after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, arguing his administration's handling of massive welfare fraud schemes made him the symbol of government waste they hope to eliminate.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa., is dropping the legislation just as fraud-exposing journalists, such as Nick Shirley, testify to the Homeland Security Committee about videotaped discoveries in the "Feeding Our Futures" scandal in Minnesota and other similar alleged rackets elsewhere on Wednesday.

The "Welfare Abuse and Laundering Zillions (WALZ) Act" from Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., is at the core of the broader anti-fraud package targeting Minnesota-style violations, COVID fraud, foreign remittance abuse and repeat offenders, and is projected to save taxpayers roughly $240 billion, Fox News Digital learned.

WALZ A NO-SHOW AT KEY FRAUD HEARING DESPITE BEING IN THE BUILDING ON OTHER BUSINESS: GOP LEADER

The WALZ Act requires federal payments be made as reimbursements to states only after a service is proven to have been provided – a process critics say Minnesota failed to police adequately.

It also requires that if a state program receiving federal funding sees a six-month increase in disbursements of more than 10%, the HHS inspector general must investigate that program.

FTC CHIEF ACCUSES DEMOCRATS OF 'TRYING TO PROTECT THE FRAUDSTERS' BY WITHHOLDING DATA FROM TRUMP ADMIN

One of Ernst’s pieces of the package, the Returning Unspent COVID Funds Act, would claw back more than $65 billion in federally-disbursed COVID funds – now six years after the height of the pandemic – to avoid future abuse of those funds.

"While hardworking Americans are struggling to make ends meet, fraudsters are getting away with ripping off $1.4 billion of taxpayer money every single day," Ernst told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

"Government grift and graft is endless, but the public’s patience isn’t and neither is mine. The Senate will have an opportunity to bring this crime spree to an end by passing my Protecting American Taxpayers Act. This bill stops fraud before it happens and takes back the loot that’s already been stolen. As for the scammers, they’re going to the slammer."

Fox News Digital reached out to Walz for comment on lawmakers using his name.

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., also contributed legislation to the package that would extend the statute of limitations for the government to prosecute COVID fraudsters.

Keen-eyed federal employees would also be able to claim monetary rewards from the federal government under the package – as part of the "Bonuses for Cost-Cutters Act" from Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., that instructs inspectors general to pay out sums to those who uncover fraud or waste.

The anti-fraud package also goes far beyond America’s borders to protect U.S. taxpayers, according to Ernst.

Sen. Tim Sheehy’s, R-Mont., No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act would instruct the State Department to implement a process to discourage NGOs and foreign nations from financially supporting the Taliban, including via U.S.-provided foreign assistance that Washington gives to such groups or governments.

Outside the oft-reported welfare scams and social services fraud operations, the package also brings attention to other ways the federal taxpayer has purportedly been defrauded over the years.

Suspected abuse of remittances – or funds sent by U.S.-resident foreigners to their home countries – has been a thorn in the side of some conservatives for years.

PENNSYLVANIA REPUBLICANS SEEK TO LEVY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS' REMITTANCES TO FUND PROPERTY TAX RELIEF

Part of Ernst’s package also includes a bill from Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, that would require people who send wire transfers and remittances abroad to certify that they are not already on public assistance; essentially protecting the taxpayer from their welfare funds being shifted to other countries.

"For decades, Washington’s failed welfare program rewarded dependency while enabling fraudsters and criminals to exploit the system to take advantage of American taxpayers," Moreno said in a January statement after initially drafting the legislation. "If an individual has enough cash to send money overseas, they have no business taking welfare benefits from hardworking Americans. The abuse ends now."

In Ernst’s package, a proposal by Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., called the Assisting Small Businesses Not Fraudsters Act, would prevent previously convicted fraudsters from receiving Small Business Administration funds.

A source familiar with Senate procedure said Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., could tee up a vote by filing cloture – ending debate – on the legislative process for the massive package as early as late this week.

Well, yesterday's game did not go according to plan. Not only did I lose on the total bet that I placed, but my France ticket went up into flames as they decided it probably wasn't worth trying to win. In fairness, Spain looked like the better team in the game, looked more precise, more aggressive, and just smarter out on the pitch.

England comes into this semifinal with some momentum. The team looked a bit shaky in the beginning of the tournament, but I feel like it has found a way to piece things together. It also doesn't hurt that Jude Bellingham has become a monster out there. He is now up to six goals, which ties Harry Kane for the lead on the team. Both are still in the conversation for the Golden Boot, but that will still need some time to be determined. England hasn't looked elite on defense outside of a key stretch in the Mexico game, but now has its full team back after being without one guy due to a red card.

In the first few games of the World Cup, you had to wonder a bit if England was just there to be there. In its first match, England took down Croatia 4-2. In the next game, there was very little going and it played to a draw against Ghana. The third match saw Kane put the team on his back and net two goals in a 2-0 win over Panama. In the knockout stages, Congo DR gave England all it could handle. The match against Mexico was one of the best games I've ever watched, and the defensive stance started due to the aforementioned red card. Norway arguably had a shot to win, but one of the dumbest plays ever happened as it was a 2-on-1 opportunity for Norway and no one passed the ball to Erling Haaland, one of the best scorers in the tournament. England survives and now plays here.

Surviving might also be a good way to describe what Argentina has done this World Cup. Things have not been easy for this squad in two of the past three games. There has been plenty of controversy, especially during the Egypt game. Although there was reason to have controversy around the England team as well, due to a ball hitting the camera before a goal was scored. Things happen, but some of them have been a little more questionable than others.

We know that Argentina's goal is to get the ball to Lionel Messi. He is one of the best players ever, and the hope is to position him to score as much as possible. He has certainly done his fair share with eight goals in the World Cup. He didn't score against Switzerland, and he really doesn't go many games without finding the net.

Does it make sense to bet on Messi here to score? At +125, this is one of the first times (and might be the only time) that I can remember him in the World Cup this year to be plus money to score a goal. England has allowed a goal in all but two of its World Cup games, so it isn't like the team is untouchable. I'll pull the trigger on Messi.

I also think the over 2.5 is a good look. Yes, I think the teams will be a little conservative, and one is likely to score then try to play keep away. However, mistakes happen, and both teams have very capable scorers and sets. Maybe it is better to play Both Teams to Score at -130. Sure, either team could win 3-0 and the over cashes, but this bet doesn't. If it ends 1-1 after 90 minutes, I lose. That's betting. I'm a little more confident in three goals being scored, though. I'll take the over.

Bessent credits Trump immigration policies with helping return jobs to Americans as wage gains resume

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent argued Tuesday that President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown is helping return jobs to American workers. He said the administration expects real wage gains to resume as deportations continue and private-sector hiring strengthens.

Bessent told Fox News' Jesse Watters that "mass unfettered immigration has stopped," citing what he said were roughly 1.82 million voluntary and mandatory deportations.

He said data indicates wage growth for American workers.

"What's more important is these are private sector jobs," he added.

Is it reasonable to correct 13-year-olds who are swimming in my pool or am I being the uncool dad; should kids just be allowed to act like they're Johnny Manziel at a Spring Break party

This is something that we're starting to deal with on a fairly regular basis at this point. We've tried to let Screencaps Jr. have some leash this summer because boys want to be boys, but as time goes on, it feels like there's a quickly declining level of respect for the pool and the rules we've set for some of the 13-year-olds who show up and want to act like maniacs.

Screencaps Jr. is starting to say that we're embarrassing him by telling the friends to knock it off.

I'm sure many of you guys have been down this road. Did you ever have a problem telling one of the boys you've coached in baseball, or who has spent the night at your house multiple times, to stop being an idiot in your pool or on your property?

I remember random parents having no problem telling me to stop being an idiot when I was 13. I thought this was basic parenting. I thought this was part of the "it takes a village" saying.

And, as for the kid who told Screencaps Jr. that the next pool party is at his house because there won't be any rules is welcome to have the next party. Have at it, chief.

Kinsey: I am in the 41% camp. We're talking about a 12-yard kick. It's actually achievable based on the distance. Is a guy going to go to the plate and get a hit off a 98 mph fastball? No chance. Could I put a foot on a ball from 12 yards out against a 6-foot-6 goalkeeper? Yes. It doesn't mean I'm going to make the shot, but I can make contact and give myself a chance. Don't even get me started on the electric bus debacle, where they spent tons of money on electric buses, discovered that they don't work so well in the cold, spent tons more on battery blankets to keep them warm, discovered that they didn't work either, then had to mothball the whole fleet when the supplier went bankrupt...

Imam who prayed before Congress faces formal rebuke after celebrating Graham's death

FIRST ON FOX: A Texas imam invited to pray before Congress is facing backlash on Capitol Hill after celebrating Sen. Lindsey Graham's death in a social media post that wished him "an eternity in ruins" over his support for Israel.

Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, plans to introduce a resolution on Wednesday that would formally condemn Omar Suleiman, the president and co-founder of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, near Dallas.

"In other news, Lindsey Graham is dead," Suleiman wrote on social media early Sunday morning, shortly after news broke that Graham had died. "Bye Lindsey. May you live an eternity in ruins for the ruins you helped create in Gaza. Ameen."

Van Duyne, who represents the suburban Dallas district where Suleiman lives, said Congress must condemn his incendiary message, pointing to his 2019 opening prayer before the House, which he delivered at Democrats' invitation.

"This type of action from a religious leader that claims to preach about love and not hate needs to be condemned," Van Duyne told Fox News Digital in an interview. "That was anything but love. That was depravity."

"Is this really what you believe—that you're going to take a sitting senator who has just died, and you're going to condemn his soul to an eternity of ruins because you don't agree with his politics?" she continued.

Graham, who served in Congress for decades, was a leading advocate for Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza and the United States’ months-long conflict with Iran. He was also a fierce defender of Ukraine, Taiwan and those living under authoritarian regimes.

Van Duyne said she is talking with leadership about putting her resolution on the floor and hopes Democrats will support it.

"It needs to be condemned by those Democrats who called him to the House floor to preach," the Texas lawmaker said. "I would love to be able to get Democrats who are on the floor who don't agree that this is the type of action that a religious leader should take."

Suleiman was invited by former Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, to deliver the opening prayer in the House chamber in May 2019. She died in 2023.

The imam was asked to perform the invocation despite a history of controversial remarks, including calling for a third Intifada — a phrase widely interpreted as calling for violence against Israel and Jews — and claiming that Zionists are "enemies of God," the Jerusalem Post reported.

"It's a hatred of a people" that fueled Suleiman's remarks celebrating Graham's death, Van Duyne told Fox News Digital. "I thought it was very important to highlight that."

The resolution alleges that Suleiman has "defended convicted terrorists" and traveled to Turkey to support members of the Muslim Brotherhood, who are banned from traveling to the United States.

The Texas imam was not alone in celebrating Graham's death. Van Duyne argued the vitriol from some progressive commentators and left-wing activists reflects a broader decline in civility.

"The words are getting more hateful," the Texas Republican told Fox News Digital. "The call for violence is getting more dangerous."

"It has absolutely gone beyond reason," she continued. "And to have a religious leader that joins in that, that is calling for that, is horrible. And yes, we should be condemning it."

Her measure also highlights Sharia law’s "incompatibility" with constitutional principles and American life.

Van Duyne, who served as mayor of Irving, Texas, before winning election to Congress in 2020, has long warned about the spread of radical Islam and efforts to promote Sharia law in the Lone Star State.

"There are Republican leaders in Congress who are speaking out against it. Eleven years ago, I felt like I was on my own," Van Duyne told Fox News Digital. "They are in my hometown, and they are in cities across the country, and I think what you're seeing is elected representatives standing up to it."

The resolution also pays tribute to Graham, who she said supported her during her runs for Congress and appeared with her at some fundraisers.

"When he didn't agree with somebody, he would tell them," Van Duyne said. "But it was never in a hateful, malicious manner, and I think we have lost the soul of debate. We have lost the soul of actual compromise in this country."

Schumer's mentor pushed birthright citizenship crackdown. Now Moreno dares Democrats to reject it.

FIRST ON FOX: A Senate Republican has a plan to challenge the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship, and he’s taking a decades-old page from Democrats to do it.

Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, will soon circulate legislation that was once pushed by the late, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., that, among several things, would drastically reduce the scope of birthright citizenship.

The bill, first obtained by Fox News Digital, is a mirror image of Reid’s initial offering from 1993. It’s a comprehensive immigration reform package that cuts legal immigration substantially, caps refugee admissions at 50,000 annually and speeds up deportations with limited court review, among several provisions.

Moreno painted his objective as twofold: try to tackle the Supreme Court’s decision last month with legislation and show how Democrats have strayed from their immigration policy over the last three decades.

"What it's going to do is highlight two things," Moreno said earlier this month. "The Democrats of today are nothing like the Democrats of 1993 and, if they choose to reject a bill sponsored by their majority leader that they named an airport in Las Vegas after, then I think my Republican colleagues have no choice."

"We have to recognize that these Democrats want to systematically destroy this country," he continued.

SUPREME COURT RULING SPARKS RACE TO KILL A MULTIBILLION-DOLLAR LOOPHOLE IN CONGRESS

On the birthright citizenship matter, the Moreno-Reid product would tackle the main argument made by the Court, which interpreted the meaning of "subject to the jurisdiction of" within the 14th Amendment to effectively mean all children born in the U.S. are automatically granted citizenship.

The unorthodox bill would modify that language to "subject to the jurisdiction of" a foreign country. Under the proposal, illegal immigrants, most temporary visa holders and others who are temporarily in the country and their children would not qualify for automatic citizenship.

That’s an interpretation that Democrats of today have rejected. Notably, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., who was mentored by Reid, cheered the Supreme Court’s decision.

"No matter how much President Trump tries to steal citizenship from people that the Constitution has said have earned it and reverse the grand American tradition of welcoming newcomers to our nation, the Supreme Court confirmed today that those born in America are American," Schumer said last month.

Reid disagreed.

In a press release from 1993, Reid made many of the same arguments that Republicans have made for the last few years on issues at the southern border and abuse of birthright citizenship.

Reid said that "our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants, placing tremendous burdens" on several programs, and that "our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits, often without paying any taxes."

"We are a country founded upon fairness and justice. An individual in real threat of torture or long-term incarceration because of his or her political beliefs can still seek asylum," Reid said at the time. "But this bill closes the door to those who want to abuse America's inherent generosity and legal system."

Trump officials unveil private sector blueprint for life after USAID

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration is laying out its clearest blueprint yet for what comes after decades of traditional U.S. foreign aid, arguing that private investment, trade and American business — not taxpayer-funded assistance — should become America's primary engine for development abroad.

At a U.S. Mission to the United Nations "Trade Over Aid" forum in New York Monday, Ambassador Mike Waltz, the U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations, told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview that the administration is "completely reforming how we do aid" by moving away from taxpayer-funded programs and toward private-sector-led development.

"For too many years, the United States and other countries have poured billions and billions of dollars into these aid programs and got very little in return," Waltz said. "You go to these forums at the United Nations and at development agencies around the world, and you never find the private sector. You find NGOs and academics and governments, but you don’t find the creators of growth and the creators of jobs."

Waltz said the new model is designed to "create jobs, to create business for American companies in line with America First," while also raising living standards abroad and reducing instability that can fuel terrorism and poverty.

The administration moved to dismantle USAID in 2025, arguing the agency was inefficient and too often disconnected from U.S. foreign policy. Asked directly whether "Trade Over Aid" is replacing USAID, Waltz said USAID’s functions had been folded into the State Department as part of a broader efficiency effort, but insisted the initiative is about something larger than one agency.

"What we’re doing, this isn’t about USAID or what replaces it," Waltz said. "That was an efficient effort to get our aid to serve our foreign policy, not the other way around. But what I think is more important is how do we help American businesses and how do (we) help create jobs around the world and reduce dependency."

The stakes are immediate: with USAID reorganized under the State Department and aid budgets under pressure, the Trump administration is trying to show that it has a replacement model for how the U.S. helps poorer and fragile countries. The answer it is pitching is not more traditional aid, but more private capital, more trade, more deals for American companies and fewer open-ended taxpayer commitments.

The forum brought together representatives from dozens of countries, U.N. agencies, international financial institutions and major private-sector players, including Microsoft, Google, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Walmart, Mastercard, Meta and others.

Czech Environment Minister Igor Cerveny, who attended the forum, said the idea resonated with his country’s own post-communist experience.

After communism, he said, the Czech Republic had to rebuild through work, business, industry and innovation rather than dependency.

"If you work on your economy, on your industry, on your society, on nature as well, probably two, three, five years later, (you will) be in a better position," Cerveny told Fox News Digital. "You have your own money. You are not now the slave of (asking). You are now the master of your destiny."

Cerveny said trade gives countries an "opportunity to cooperate" rather than forcing them to return again and again with the same request: "Please give me some money."

Ambassador Dan Negrea, who is spearheading the initiative in the U.S. Mission, told Fox News Digital that shrinking aid budgets around the world make a new model necessary.

"We need to think differently about how we help developing countries in an environment in which, in the United States, we are indebted and we cannot continue to spend money on helping other countries the way we used to," Negrea said. "Development aid is going down not only in the U.S., but in countries around the world."

Negrea said the initiative has received less resistance from developing countries than from traditional donor nations.

"Interestingly, there is less pushback from countries receiving aid than from some donor countries that like to continue in this attitude of charity, being magnanimous to other countries," he told Fox News Digital. "For years and years and for decades, many developing countries are saying that they want to end this status of recipient of charity and move to a much more dignified relationship of partners and development."

But some leaders from developing countries also warn that trade cannot replace aid overnight, especially in emergency settings. The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Francophonie, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, told Fox News Digital that aid remains critical in crises such as the Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC.

"Aid sometimes can transform dramatically a situation," she said. "This is not something you can change overnight with trade. But yes, over a long term, trade is the pathway to create greater growth, greater economic prosperity, and therefore also more equal relationships between countries."

Kayikwamba Wagner added that the shift must be "adapted to circumstances" and not be "too abrupt."

The initiative already has drawn 46 countries, and launched a digital library with 63 capacity-building offers from private companies, governments, NGOs, philanthropies, academic institutions and international organizations.

But when pressed on what those offers have produced so far, Negrea acknowledged the initiative is still in its early stages. The library was inaugurated last week, he said, and the goal now is to turn offers into concrete outcomes.

"We want to see more deliverables," Negrea said. "We want to see actual transactions that were done. We want to see countries using the digital library to see usable capacity building offers coming from around the world. So we want to help without the cost to the U.S. taxpayers, but at the same time creating opportunities for American companies."

The central challenge facing the effort is whether private capital will go where aid has traditionally been most needed: fragile countries with weak institutions, unreliable infrastructure, corruption, conflict or markets too risky for major investors.

WALTZ CALLS U.N. A 'CESSPOOL FOR ANTISEMITISM' AS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION PUSHES MAJOR REFORMS

Waltz argued that is exactly where institutions such as the U.N. Development Program, the World Bank and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation can play a role.

"When we talk to organizations like J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs and others, they’re saying, we want to invest hundreds of millions into these industries abroad, but they need better laws, they need better arbitration," Waltz said. "We need to know that we can get our money out for our investors here in the United States."

He said the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and U.S. contributions to the World Bank can provide "risk insurance and guarantees" for investments in riskier markets, including critical minerals projects needed by the U.S. technology sector.

"It is incredibly risky," Waltz said. "Sometimes these capital providers like on Wall Street and in New York are only going to go to the safest place. Sometimes it makes sense, for example, as we’re looking for critical minerals for our tech industry, to go into risky places, but they need a little help."

The strongest note of caution came not from critics outside the room, but from inside the forum itself.

Alexander De Croo, the former Belgian prime minister who now leads United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), said trade and aid should not be treated as enemies.

"Trade is a destination, but development is how we get to that destination," De Croo said. "Markets do not build themselves. They have to be built."

De Croo said investment flows when rules are predictable, institutions are trusted and workers have the skills to seize opportunity. He described UNDP’s role as helping countries build those foundations. "There is no country over the past decades that has successfully developed without a strong private sector and without trade being a big part of that," he said.

Christopher Sharrock, Microsoft’s vice president for United Nations and international organizations, also warned that aid still has a role that markets cannot fully replace.

"Aid does do an essential job and it does a job that possibly nothing else can do," Sharrock said, pointing to vaccination campaigns, famine response and natural disasters as areas where assistance remains critical.

For the Trump administration, "Trade Over Aid" is being pitched as a more disciplined, America First answer to development: fewer handouts, more deals, less dependency, more jobs for American companies and foreign partners alike.

But the test will be whether it can deliver not only in countries already ready for investment, but in the hardest places — the places where aid has long filled the gap because markets would not.

"I think the H-1B visa program is a scam, and it's one that has been perpetrated on the American worker for far too long," Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., said in an interview.

"Essentially, we shipped all our manufacturing jobs overseas and people were told to 'learn how to code,'" he continued. "Well, now they're being replaced with the H-1B visa workers on the coding jobs as well. So when is the American worker actually going to get a win here?"

H-1B visas are billed as temporary work authorizations for "high-skilled" foreign workers who are qualified to do jobs that American workers do not have the skills to do. But the companies that use them are not required to prove that they couldn't find a qualified American to do the same job, raising criticism among those who want to stop outsourcing jobs to foreign workers.

Companies who use the most H-1B visas include Amazon, IT consulting firm Cognizant, Infosys, IBM and Microsoft.

Microsoft set off a firestorm last week when its XBOX gaming division laid off 1,600 workers, despite the parent company being approved for 2,273 H-1B visas this year alone.

"We're sending all of our kids to college, trade school or what have you, to get advanced knowledge or career preparation for the workplace, and we're coming in with H-1B visas and displacing them with lower skilled, lower paid workers, and many of young people are ending up either unemployed, or baristas at Starbucks, or you name it with $200,000 in debt," Moore lamented to Fox News Digital.

The typical H-1B visa is limited to three years, but employers can file extensions that last up to six years. And while the foreign workers are in the United States, there is nothing stopping them from pursuing permanent residency.

According to data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, 80% of H-1B visa holders who become permanent residents do so through employment-based green cards. Permanent residents can later become naturalized citizens.

Moore insists the idea that H-1B workers are more skilled than American workers is a "complete fallacy," and said that the only reason they're being brought to the United States is because they will work for less pay than the ordinary American.

"This is a rigged market against American workers," said Moore. "It's not free market capitalism at all, because the government is handing these out and also setting the levels of how many H-1B visas are going to be issued."

"This is all controlled by the government, and it's obviously big corporate lobbyists that are pushing for more H-1B visas. This is not an exercise in the free market."

As of 2021, National Foundation for American Policy analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data estimated that there were 619,000 H-1B workers in the U.S. — a number that is likely higher today.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorizations, Moore says, are perhaps more pernicious than H-1B visas, and further disprove the idea that H-1B visas are for "high skilled" foreign laborers.

Foreign students who come to the U.S. on F-1 student visas often use OPT as a bridge between studying in the United States and receiving an H1-B visa.

"Look at the OPT program, right, where they're doing the training," Moore said. "They're going through our university system. Obviously they're coming through our university system because it's the greatest on the planet."

Moore wants to abolish both programs completely, and says there's a quiet groundswell of support for his efforts behind the scenes.

"I'm certainly not the lone voice in this," he told Fox News Digital. "I might be the loudest. Some people are quietly talking about it, but I have had many, many of my colleagues here in Congress come up and talk with me since I've started talking about this and thank me for speaking up."

"So I have a lot of support behind me on this issue, and there's others who are starting to speak up as well."

Recently, President Donald Trump tried to limit employers' use of the H-1B program by imposing a $100,000 fee for companies seeking H-1B applications.

A federal judge struck down that order, reasoning that it amounted to a tax that only Congress has the ability to impose.

For Moore, it all comes back to protecting American labor.

"The American worker is the only worker on the planet that has to compete with labor from all over the world inside their own borders. We're the only ones. It doesn't make any sense to me at all, and we're putting all of our young people in a disadvantaged position."

New dash cam video of ESPN analyst Matt Miller's car crash last month that led to his eventual arm amputation has raised more questions than answers.

Miller, who covers the NFL Draft for ESPN, was involved in a life-threatening car crash last month in Missouri. Details of the crash have been sparse, but we do know Miller suffered several serious injuries, one of which led to an eventual arm amputation.

The ESPN analyst announced last week that he was stepping away from the company to focus on his recovery, which was newsworthy given the turmoil that has surrounded him since the accident.

ESPN ANALYST STEPPING AWAY AFTER GETTING ARM AMPUTATED AS AG INVESTIGATES WILD ACCUSATIONS

In the weeks since the crash, Miller has been accused by dozens of fans of suspicious dealings in his fantasy football leagues. The Missouri attorney general opened an investigation into him earlier this month, and ESPN placed him on leave last weekend.

Although sources told OutKick that Miller's leave was purely based on his health, they also said that questions related to the ongoing social media chatter and the AG's report will be addressed in due time. Until then, he is expected to remain on leave.

As for video of the crash ... it was obtained by the California Post on Tuesday, and shows Miller's Ford Bronco veer across the double-yellow line on a two-lane road into an oncoming truck. The semi appeared to move out of the way, but both vehicles collided.

The incident took place around 3:50 p.m. on June 17 on a Jasper County roadway.

ESPN analyst Matt Miller comes under scrutiny after Reddit thread

Around the time of the accident, a Reddit thread went viral with several fans accusing Miller of suspicious dealings in his fantasy football leagues.

According to the popular fantasy football platform "Sleeper," Miller was the commissioner of 91 fantasy leagues last season alone.

Dozens of fans who at one time played in a league organized by Miller came forward, and they all had the same story.

Miller would allegedly start a league. He would advertise the league. He would claim that a portion of the proceeds for the league would go to some charity.

And then, according to several accounts, he would go largely silent after the league started and after the league ended, with players in said league going months without a payout ... if they got one at all.

After the June 17th crash, a GoFundMe was started for Miller, and promoted by Miller via his X account. The initial goal was $10,000. It was then raised to $55,000 once that goal was hit.

Several fans confirmed to the outlet Awful Announcing that they received delayed payment from Miller after his crash and resulting GoFundMe, which was suspiciously paused at $51,000 after the AG opened the investigation on July 2.

"As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm," Miller posted on X after his crash before eventually mentioning, and linking, the GoFundMe campaign created for him.

Matt Miller's latest post had one big difference

The Reddit thread, and resulting outrage on social media, came to a head earlier this month when the Missouri AG got involved.

"The Missouri Attorney General’s Office is now soliciting complaints directly from anyone with relevant information, including those who are not Missouri residents," Awful Announcing wrote on July 2. "A consumer complaint can be filed online or by phone through the Consumer Protection team at 800-392-8222."

Miller, who is still in the hospital, and has not yet commented on any of this. That doesn't mean he's oblivious, though.

Last weekend, the longtime draft analyst posted that he was stepping away from ESPN to recover, while also limiting who could comment on his post.

"A quick update: The surgery to remove my left arm was successful with hopes of an eventual prosthetic replacement. Similarly, the femur and patella surgeries were also successful and the fantastic surgery team was able to save my left leg," he said. "To best focus on my healing and recovery, I’m stepping away indefinitely and will be placed on leave from ESPN. Thank you to all for the prayers and thoughts; please keep them coming."

"Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Get well soon, Matt," wrote Adam Schefter.

"Speedy recovery. I still remember when I was coming out of college how much you supported me," added former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas. "It was like everything you said turned out to be true. Hopefully I can do the same for you boss."

Schefter and Thomas were two of only 14 people who replied to Miller's latest post because it was safeguarded with an "Only some accounts can reply" tag.

Every single reply was positive, which was a stark difference from Miller's previous updates about his accident, which were open to the public. Those posts were flooded with comments about the ongoing investigation, the viral Reddit thread, and the resulting GoFundMe.

A GoFundMe, by the way, which will now certainly come under further scrutiny with the new footage.

It saved her life.

The deep friendship between America and Israel has saved, and continues to save, American lives. Israel is a friend and an ally in the deepest sense of the word.

AMERICA AND ISRAEL: A COVENANT, NOT A CONTRACT

The U.S. House of Representatives is about to vote on security assistance to Israel, including an amendment from outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., to strip that assistance altogether. Policy disagreements may exist, even between closely aligned nations. Yet these should not come at the cost of American lives and regional stability.

The anti-Israel representative, Massie, found himself on the wrong end of the president after Donald Trump endorsed his opponent in his recent GOP primary. The result: Ed Gallrein beat the incumbent Massie as his constituents turned on his increasingly unpopular positions.

Israel's detractors have long framed American support as charity, as a one-way handout to a dependent client state. In doing so, they ignore what the relationship actually is: a reciprocal strategic security and technology partnership, built on shared values, that has paid the United States back many times over.

The current conflict with Iran illustrates this unique relationship. In 1979, the Islamic Republic's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, first called the United States the "Great Satan" — one day after the regime seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, launching the 444-day hostage crisis. Later that year, Khomeini branded Israel the "Little Satan," a deliberate hierarchy casting Israel as an American outpost. Israel is a beacon of Western values in a dark region, and it is that light the regime is eager to extinguish. The decades since have seen American, Israeli and Western bloodshed by the Islamic Republic and its proxies — Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis.

Two truths follow. First, believe your enemies when they tell you who they are: when they chant "Death to America," they mean it. Second, what starts with the Jews never ends with the Jews. Hamas' terror against Israel in the 1990s spilled into New York on 9/11 and beyond. America's enemies are Israel's enemies, and both are fighting for the benefit of civilization as a whole.

Israel is also not a passive recipient of technology, but a major exporter and co-developer of it — its cyber technology is widely adopted by the U.S. and NATO. The Iron Dome, among the most successful missile-defense systems in operational history, is a joint U.S.-Israeli venture built with American components, alongside David's Sling and Arrow. Israeli innovations in drones, cybersecurity and armor have flowed into American systems as much as American funding has flowed into Israeli ones.

It does not stop there. In 2017, it was reported that top Israeli cyber experts had penetrated a small cell of extremist bombmakers in Syria. That was how the U.S. learned ISIS was working on explosives designed to fool airport X-ray machines by looking exactly like laptop-computer batteries.

In another incident, Iran launched a large-scale drone attack on the Al-Tanf base near the Iraq-Syria border, which housed about 200 U.S. troops. The base was evacuated shortly beforehand, due to early warning from Israeli intelligence. No American casualties were reported. The long and profound Israeli-U.S. intelligence cooperation has saved numerous innocent lives. From the most recent Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump, to that regime’s use of crime syndicates in Australia and Europe to attack Iranian dissidents and other civilian targets, Israel is strategically positioned to be the West’s eyes and ears in a dangerous, volatile region filled with hostile forces to freedom and democracy.

Nearly every dollar Israel receives is spent on American-made weapons, aircraft and systems. The money doesn't leave the U.S. Treasury so much as flow through it, landing with American manufacturers and supporting jobs in all 50 states. This isn't charity — it's an alliance that saves lives through shared intelligence, battle-tested defense systems and a military that never asks for U.S. troops to defend it.

Former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star pitcher Ricky Bottalico must have been watching the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night.

The pre-show broadcast on Netflix that included Elle Duncan, Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols and Anthony Rizzo rehashed Bonds’ fight with Bottalico in 1998. Bottalico plunked Bonds during a game between the Phillies and San Francisco Giants, sparking the only time Bonds charged the mound.

While Duncan said that Bottalico swore the pitch got away from him, Bonds denied it.

Bottalico pushed back on Duncan’s notion that the ball got away from him as he appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday before the MLB All-Star Game took place in Philadelphia.

"That is a bold-faced lie." he said. "I’ve told the story on this show, I’ve told the story on NBC Sports Philadelphia, I have told the story. I was told to go in and hit Barry Bonds. It’s that simple.

Bottalico said the team was frustrated with Bonds because he stole a base when the Giants were up seven runs. He said he wasn’t even supposed to pitch that day as he was coming off of surgery and had already made an appearance the night before.

'Significant' early Christian church emerges beneath former fish market in ancient city

Archaeologists in Italy recently unearthed the remains of a city's earliest known Christian church — all near the site of a former fish market.

The discovery was announced in a June press release by the Archaeological Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan Area of Venice and the Provinces of Belluno, Padua and Treviso.

Pictures shared with Fox News Digital show the remains of the ancient church, including intricate polychrome mosaic floors and human burials alongside its foundation walls. The remains are located in Oderzo, some 40 miles northeast of Venice, in the area of a former pescheria, or fish market.

The church dates to between the fourth and fifth centuries A.D., during the Late Roman period. Oderzo was known as Opitergium at the time.

Excavation at the site began last November as part of preparations for a residential redevelopment project in the city's historic center.

Archaeologists determined the 1,600-year-old building was a large rectangular church measuring about 75 feet wide and at least 98 feet long, with a central aisle and two side aisles.

"The foundations, up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) thick and built from brick bonded with mortar, rest on wooden piles driven into the alluvial soil—a construction technique widely used in antiquity to improve stability," officials said in a statement translated from Italian.

The church's eastern end has not yet been excavated — suggesting the complex may be even larger than currently known.

At the site, archaeologists also uncovered four burials containing the remains of seven individuals.

"Anthropologists are currently studying the remains of the seven individuals, and future specialized analyses are expected to provide additional information about both the cemetery and those buried there," officials said.

Researchers have not yet determined when the church fell out of use, though evidence suggests it was abandoned and later stripped of building materials before being destroyed during the Middle Ages.

Archaeologists believe the discovery represents the earliest known Christian place of worship in ancient Oderzo, as the church dates to a period when Christianity was becoming the dominant religion of the Roman Empire.

Officials described the discovery as "exceptionally significant."

FIRST ON FOX — A House Republican is introducing legislation that would require the Daughters of the American Revolution to limit membership to biological women, saying the historic organization's congressional charter should reflect its original mission after the group adopted a policy interpreted as allowing transgender applicants.

Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., introduced the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act on Wednesday.

"The DAR has a longstanding tradition of celebrating and empowering women who represent the exceptional heritage of the birth of our Nation," Cline said in a statement provided exclusively to Fox News Digital.

"However, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, the organization has now abandoned the very principles on which it was founded," Cline added. "Rather than honoring and preserving a lineage-based organization for women, it has embraced radical gender ideology at the expense of the women it was created to serve."

"The Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act is common-sense legislation that requires the Congressionally-charted DAR to return to serving the true daughters of the American Revolution," he said.

The bill would impose a requirement to the federal charter that limits membership to only individuals who are biological females and otherwise keeps the genealogical and membership qualifications established by the corporation.

Cline's bill notes that the term "female" means someone "who naturally has, had, will have, or would have but for a congenital anomaly or intentional or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that produces, transports, and utilizes the large gamete (ova) for fertilization.’’

Last year, the DAR denied a motion by local members to restrict biological males who identify as transgender from joining the organization.

The group, founded in 1890, is made up of a membership of women who are direct descendants of American Revolutionary War patriots. It voted 1,481 to 984 on June 26 against a measure to keep membership for those "born female," the New York Post reported.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout opened the 2026 MLB All-Star Game with a strikeout in his first plate appearance.

Trout is making his 12th All-Star appearance near home, with Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park sitting roughly 40 miles from where he was born and raised in New Jersey. But the Angels entered the break once again at the bottom of the AL West standings.

The Angels have not reached the postseason since 2014, the longest active playoff drought in MLB, with the Pittsburgh Pirates next on the list after last playing October baseball in 2015.

At 38-59 entering the break, Los Angeles faces long odds of reversing course and mounting a playoff push, but Trout said the doubt surrounding the team has only fueled his motivation.

Leader of firm that won SCOTUS women's sports cases opens up on dealing with liberal media, Title IX lawsuits

Fox News Digital sat down with Alliance Defending Freedom president, CEO, and chief counsel Kristen Waggoner after her law firm won a historic Supreme Court victory in the battle to "save women's sports."

Waggoner spoke about her experience in dealing with mainstream media, and leading the ongoing legal battles against the Democrat-run states that continue to let biological male trans athletes play in women's sports.

On handling interviews with outlets like CNN and MSNBC

Waggoner: "I've been delighted because I know where we began. It was a tough go 10 years ago, to be able to talk about these things. But I think now as Americans have seen in real time the differences between men and women, they already knew that, but the media has also begun to shift a little bit as well in recognizing that eight of 10 Americans support the right of women to have fair play, and more and more we are seeing the real harm that comes from trying to blur distinctions between men and women and boys and girls.

"I will say we've had some tough interviews, and it has been an absolute delight to see courageous young women athletes stand up for truth.

"Over the years, we've done everything from CNN to MSNBC to other outlets as well, and I will say, first of all, I'm grateful for the opportunity that we can come in and share a different perspective and especially on CNN. But they do ask the tough questions and sometimes some unfair ones, and it's a real privilege to be able to answer those questions honestly and to ensure that the message gets out to those audiences."

On pending and potential future litigation in the 23 states that don't have laws to protect women's sports

Waggoner: "You can expect that we will uproot gender ideology from the law, and we will not stop until we do. It harms women and girls, it harms children, it harms parental rights. There's no right that gender ideology has not touched in terms of protecting those rights, and it harms children. We know that from the science. The science is now catching up with the truth. We have several lawsuits that are already ongoing in those 23 states, and we will continue to work to protect women and girls.

"And it does take all of us. I think that's so important. This isn't just something that it can be won in the courtroom. It has to be won in the culture as well, and the two go hand in hand, so all of us have a role to play."

On ADF's newest Title IX lawsuit in Washington state after a female wrestler was allegedly sexually assaulted during a match against a trans athlete

Waggoner: "Kaylee [Keeler's alleged] experience is not just unfortunate, it is devastating to any girl. To wrestle as a 16-year-old in a sport and believe that you're wrestling a girl, and then learn that it not only is a boy, but to be [allegedly] sexually assaulted... that is... it's horrendous... But I have to tell you, it's not the only time that threats like sexual assault have been made in these types of contexts.

"I wish it was an isolated case, but it's not, and the fact that the state has essentially said there was consent because the girl was wrestling is especially egregious. We will work until we win that case for her."

On the coverage and conversation of concerns over similar incidents to the one in Washington state

Waggoner: "I think that it's sad that it has to be a part of the conversation, first of all. I mean, it's horrific, it's criminal, and there should be a price to be paid for sexual assault and threats of sexual assault. But the fact that we even have to bring those things up to demonstrate the real harm that comes to women is also, it's grievous in the sense of women and girls deserve their right to privacy and their right to physical safety. And so you shouldn't have to even have to talk about sexual assault as a consequence of this because we know that differences matter between the sexes.

"But I will say that there are more and more stories like this coming up. What do you think will happen when a boy comes into a girl's locker room? As our client Adelaide [Cross], for example, has said, looking at her experience, the comments that were made to her, the threats that were made to her, no girl would ever talk like that, and yet that is what our girls are experiencing every day when boys come into their private spaces."

On ADF's Title IX lawsuit in Minnesota over a trans pitcher that won a girls' softball state championship in 2025, after the case was dismissed by a federal judge

Waggoner: "We're used to tough, hard stances and going uphill. Sometimes we even say we win by losing. You might lose in the lower courts, but you keep going until you win the day, and we will do that in Minnesota.

"Again, having boys come into girls' sports take away not just their trophies, but not just their scholarships, but actually even their ability to even be on the team. I mean, there are limited spots, as the Supreme Court has already said, and I do believe that the Supreme Court has laid the groundwork for future victories in states like Minnesota because the court recognizes that this is a zero-sum game.

"Every time a boy takes a spot on a team, he takes that spot from a girl, and that's wrong."

On ADF's recent legal victory and settlement for a Christian school in Vermont that was banned from competing in the state for refusing to compete against a team with a trans athlete, and potential future cases in Vermont to challenge its law that allows trans athletes in girls' sports

Waggoner: "We will continue fighting for Vermont and every other state that is not recognizing not only the rights of women and girls and biological differences, but the rights of Christian schools and Christians across this country. This is also an issue of religious freedom, and it's not even limited to the Christian faith. The Abrahamic faiths all recognize that they should have the right to be able to raise children in their faith, consistent with their faith, and they believe that God created male and female. Not only do they believe that according to their religious doctrine, but that is the truth.

"Science backs that up."

On ADF's Title IX lawsuit in Connecticut over a trans track runner, which dates back to 2018

Waggoner: "We have a case in Connecticut, which was actually the first case filed in the United States. We filed it on behalf of three high school track athletes. And again, just wanna go back to these are high school girls that had to stand up, not the adults, not the coaches, not the school principals. They had to stand against all of those individuals to say, ‘Hey, wait a minute. These two boys competed as boys three weeks before they came and competed against us, and they took more than four, four state championships from our client alone and displaced many.’ Up to 85 opportunities were lost by girls, as these boys competed.

"So that case is continuing on. As you mentioned, we have a Minnesota case that's continuing, the assault violation in Washington. So I think there are plenty of cases that are being filed, but we also need to go back to how many girls are gonna be injured before we can win this. This has taken more than 10 years to get to the place where 27 states are protected. We need parents, we need school officials, we need all of us to stand up and say, ‘This is enough.’"

On ADF's plans for future lawsuits in other states

Waggoner: "Well, yes, but I wouldn't be able to talk about that now. What I can tell you is that Alliance Defending Freedom is privileged to stand. We have a strategic plan. We follow that plan to have the most impact, and we are executing on it."

Message to other women who are considering stepping up in the battle to "save women's sports"

Waggoner: "My message would be that there's no room for cowardice. There's only room for courage, and that it's never too late to speak out on behalf of women and girls. The equal opportunities that so many of those athletes have benefited from because of Title IX should be available to those who come behind, and I think there's nothing but good to come from being a person of courage and speaking boldly on behalf of all women and girls."

Popular diet trend could boost mental health among older adults, study finds

Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish and olive oil may help keep the mind strong even into old age, according to new research.

Older adults in England who followed a Mediterranean diet — which is primarily composed of the above foods — during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic reported higher psychological well-being than peers who did not.

The researchers tracked more than 3,000 adults between the ages of 50 and 90 to determine how their daily food choices related to their long-term outlook on life, according to a press release.

COMMON VITAMIN MAY INFLUENCE BRAIN AGING IN WAYS SCIENTISTS DIDN'T EXPECT

The participants filled out specialized surveys that measured positive psychological traits, including their sense of autonomy, life satisfaction, purpose and control over daily routines.

Each participant also received a score based on how closely their eating habits matched a traditional Mediterranean dietary pattern.

Adults who stuck closely to the Mediterranean diet reported a significantly stronger sense of overall well-being.

This finding held even after researchers accounted for factors like income, education, physical activity, smoking habits and general physical health.

The boost in well-being did not appear to be driven by differences in caloric intake, which suggests the specific types of food played an important role.

LONELINESS MAY BE SILENTLY ERODING YOUR MEMORY, NEW RESEARCH REVEALS

As the researchers tracked the participants over several years, they were able to measure how their well-being shifted during the early months of the pandemic.

While emotional well-being and happiness dropped across the entire group during the lockdowns, the study – which was published in BMJ Open – showed the decline was less intense for people who stuck to the Mediterranean diet.

Previous research points to a few explanations for this.

"This study shows what we’ve been seeing in other research," Kim Kulp, registered dietitian nutritionist and owner of the Gut Health Connection in the San Francisco Bay Area, told Fox News Digital.

The Mediterranean diet is naturally rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids from fish and antioxidants called polyphenols found in extra-virgin olive oil.

These nutrients help to lower inflammation in the brain and support a healthy gut microbiome, which is directly linked to the chemical production of mood-regulating hormones, experts say.

"Since the Mediterranean diet is loaded with a variety of plant foods, it provides an increase in nutrients for the body and brain, special compounds that reduce inflammation, and prebiotics to feed the good gut microbes," said Kulp, who was not involved in the study.

Researchers noted some limitations to the data, including the fact that the study relied on self-reported dietary surveys, which can sometimes be inaccurate.

Additionally, the participants who completed the tracking tended to be healthier and wealthier than the general public, meaning the results might not fully apply to more diverse or vulnerable populations.

"There were only two days of dietary data, and the psychological well-being test was only administered on two occasions, both early on during COVID," Kulp noted. "Two days of data may not be enough to form conclusions."

Because the study was observational, it could not prove a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the diet and improved mental health, the researchers acknowledged.

"Together, this diet can help reduce stress and depression and improve a sense of well-being, even during the toughest times."

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another edition of the biggest thing to happen to complaining since Yelp, The Gripe Report!

This week we're going to talk about videos.

There’s no denying that video is a major part of our lives. Gone are the days of three networks, and in its place is non-stop video being force-fed into our eye holes thanks to social media.

However, there are certain things about videos that I see on social media and elsewhere that absolutely drive me up a wall.

You’ve probably seen these too, so consider this some form of group therapy session.

No, you’re not alone.

Sending someone a video then realizing it’s AI

Social media is rife with AI video. Some of it’s cool. Like one of my favorite genres of social media video is AI clips meant to look like you’re eating at a Pizza Hut in 1998 or cruising through a mall in 1984.

It’s awesome, but I’m cool with it because I know it’s AI.

I recently sent my wife a video I saw of a French bulldog wearing some kind of dog life-preserver. I thought it was cool, until my wife was like, "Y’know that’s AI, right?"

I didn’t, and I felt a lot of shame (even though dogs wearing life-preservers in a pool is a wild thing to make with AI).

IT'S BEYOND TIME FOR SOMEONE TO LAY DOWN SOME SOCIETY-WIDE GROUND RULES FOR HANDSHAKES

Why does getting called out for not being able to suss out AI feel like getting pantsed on stage in front of your high school?

You wind up getting pinned with a scarlet A, which stands for "A-hole who doesn’t know something is AI when he sees it."

Unfortunately, the only way to really avoid this is to go in assuming that everything is AI — and therefore not real — which is really a strange, dystopian place to be.

But if that's what it takes to not look like some rube who doesn't know a phony clip when he sees it, I can deal with it.

Tiny Microphones

I think the proverbial toothpaste is out of the proverbial tube on this one, but it still makes my eye twitch with rage every single time I see it.

If you watch some videos on social media, you are bound to see someone using a small lavalier microphone.

Those are supposed to be clipped to your clothing — often to one's lapel if you've got one — which is why they're sometimes referred to as lapel mics.

I know this sounds obvious as hell, but in the age of social media, I always see people holding them between their thumb and forefinger, and it drives me insane that no one just clips it to their clothes or just gets a regular-sized stick mic.

I don’t know why this triggers me, but it does, and I’ve spent more time thinking about this than I’d really care to admit.

WAIT... WHO IS ACTUALLY USING REST STOP BBQ GRILLS?

Why do people do this? Half the time they hold these mics with the clip still attached. Does it not occur to them that it should, y’know, be clipped to something?

And on top of that, I usually see people holding tiny mics like this up to other people's mouths, meaning their nasty fingers are just centimeters from the person's mouth.

How does nobody say, "Bro, get an adult-sized mic or get your fingers away from my face?"

I’ve kind of just concluded that, like a lot of things on the internet, people are just emulating what they’ve seen because the Internet doesn’t really reward creativity or proper mic technique.

Everyone jumping on the same trends.

This week, anytime I hopped on social media, my feed was full of people pretending they were sitting down to be interviewed for a Netflix documentary.

Why? Because that was the trend this week, and next week the same unoriginal dopes will be onto something else.

For some reason, people feel like they have to get in on every single trend ever, lest they… I’m not even sure. Cease to exist?

I just don’t like that following these trends means a complete lack of originality. You’re just copying someone who actually came up with something that was, when it started, unique or clever or funny.

Now, don’t get me wrong, the way things are created is by taking inspiration from the past.

Black Sabbath took elements of blues, made it scary, added more distortion, and — voila! — heavy metal.

There are examples of that everywhere, but it seems like more and more people just copy stuff directly.

Sure, social media rewards those who catch the wave that comes when something trends, but by the time people you went to high school with get on board, that wave has crashed on the beach.

So, let’s all agree to be more original.

Mostly so I don’t have to see dozens of versions of the same video over and over and over.

Commercials that pretend to be podcast clips

My wife and I watch a lot of what are called FAST, or "free ad-supported streaming TV" channels because we watch "I Love Lucy," "The Twilight Zone," and "Unsolved Mysteries" all day. We even leave it on for the dog when we leave.

Which is great except for the part where we also pay for cable… that kind of p—-s me off.

But FAST channels have a lot of weird ads because not too many people are watching the Universal Monsters channel at one in the afternoon on Wednesday unless they work from home, as we do here at Reigle Manor.

I’ve seen a lot of ads on there, but also on YouTube and social media, that are meant to look like clips from podcasts, but clearly aren’t because they’re talking about a brand of deodorant or a slot machine app in a very Madison Avenue way.

It’s always two random guys sitting in a studio, with one being like, "Dude, tell me about this new deodorant you’ve been using." Then the other guy is like, "Yeah, it’s called Dudebro, and it keeps my pits dry all day and destroys odor at the source by killing off 99.99% of funkigens and sealing your stink glands," or some other pseudoscientific line of BS.

What a terrible podcast that would be if it were real, which it isn’t.

Just get the message out. Why does it have to be on a make-believe podcast?

Is it because people like watching clips from podcasts? That’s true, but those are clips from real, entertaining (well, sometimes) podcasts, not two dudes with unplugged mics swapping deodorant war stories.

I’ve seen this bleed into network TV too.

There’s a personal injury attorney who advertises during the morning news that I watch, and I’m fascinated because he started doing commercials where he wears a "cool" shirt and sits behind a microphone and tells people to check out his podcast where he talks about ambulance chasing.

What fascinates me is that, from what I’ve found, that podcast just doesn’t exist outside of the 30-second clips that air on TV.

And I looked. Boy, did I look all over the place.

This is just the weirdest thing to me. It would be strange if a personal injury attorney or a deodorant company did a podcast, but it’s infinitely weirder when they pretend to do fake podcasts.

It’s kind of the same as people jumping on trends. They see something that’s popular, but don’t bother to unpack why it’s popular and reverse engineer it for their needs.

No, they just go, "Hey, Joe Rogan clips do some serious numbers, so let’s just copy that, and we’ll get a bunch of rubes to download our mobile slot machine game."

Montana Dem running as blue-collar smokejumper spent years lobbying for far-left groups

A Democrat running in a key Montana House race as a "smokejumper" and working-class outsider previously worked as a registered lobbyist opposing state-level bills that would have restricted drag performances in public schools and libraries, banned gender-transition procedures for minors and cracked down on sanctuary policies, records reviewed by Fox News Digital show.

Sam Forstag, the Democratic nominee in Montana’s 1st Congressional District, has leaned into a blue-collar campaign message, saying constituents like him "know how to work" and "know how to swing a tool."

His campaign has focused on affordability, corruption and working-class frustrations, but his lobbying record puts him on the record on several hot-button issues that could undercut his effort to appeal to more centrist voters in a heavily Republican state.

Between 2021 and 2023, Forstag was listed as a registered lobbyist for groups and entities such as the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, the Montana Library Association and the City of Missoula. During that time, he testified against or was tied through lobbying records to opposition against bills involving drag performances in schools and libraries, transgender-related medical treatments for minors, boys competing in girls’ sports, voter ID and local cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

"This bill is the latest of a series that I expect you’ll see that are intended to stir up fear and distrust of our fellow citizens," Forstag told Montana lawmakers in 2023 as Republicans considered a bill restricting minors from attending drag performances in public schools and libraries. Forstag argued the measure was overly broad and could affect people who are transgender or nonbinary participating in library programming, saying he hoped lawmakers did not intend to "prohibit an entire class of people" from serving in public libraries.

Forstag also opposed SB 99, a bill banning certain gender-transition procedures and medications for minors. In testimony on the bill, Forstag urged lawmakers to "leave personal and medical decisions to families and their chosen health care providers."

While representing the ACLU of Montana, Forstag was tied to opposition against HB 112, which required student athletes to compete based on biological sex, and SB 169, a measure to increase scrutiny around voter ID protocols.

Forstag also opposed bills involving sanctuary policies and local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities, including measures aimed at requiring local officials to comply with immigration detainers.

Forstag did not directly dispute the lobbying record when asked by Fox News Digital, instead defending his work in the state capital as a fight for working people and individual freedom.

"Between fire seasons, I fought for working people in a state capital that too often ignores us," Forstag told Fox News Digital. "Instead of accepting a system where the extremes and the rich have the loudest voice, I worked my tail off to defend Montanans’ constitutional rights and freedoms and fight for policies that actually improve our lives."

Forstag framed his opposition to bills involving transgender medical procedures as part of a broader belief that government should stay out of personal decisions.

"I believe the government’s got no place getting involved in peoples’ private, personal decisions," he said. "Politicians have no place coming for our guns, and no place inserting themselves into medical decisions that should be up to patients, parents, and doctors."

On immigration, Forstag, who is backed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said local police should not be forced to carry out federal immigration responsibilities.

"Laws that force local law enforcement to do the federal government’s bidding make our communities less safe and put police in a bad spot," he said. "Immigration enforcement should be left to federal officials so our local police can keep Montanans safe."

Jake Eaton, a longtime Montana Republican strategist whose clients have included Gov. Greg Gianforte and Attorney General Austin Knudsen, told Fox News Digital that Forstag’s lobbying record could undercut his effort to appeal to blue-collar and swing voters in the district, noting that issues involving transgender policies, schools and immigration "cut across" demographics.

Meanwhile, Eaton described Forstag as emblematic of the leftward shift of Montana Democrats.

"There aren’t a lot of moderate Democrats, if any, left," Eaton said. "The days of Brian Schweitzer, when you had Democrats that were pro-gun and pro-coal, they don’t really exist anymore."

But Eric Koch, a longtime Democratic consultant, rejected that criticism, arguing that Forstag’s record fits his broader message about keeping government out of personal decisions.

"Sam’s record is about keeping government out of your business," Koch told Fox News Digital. "No amount of divide-and-distract will change that." The consultant argued Republicans would rather focus on culture-war issues than Forstag’s economic contrast with his Republican opponent Aaron Flint.

Forstag will face Flint, an Army veteran and conservative radio host, in the Nov. 3 general election for the open western Montana seat currently held by GOP Rep. Ryan Zinke, who announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election.

Forstag won the Democratic primary after defeating former 2024 gubernatorial nominee Ryan Busse, Russell Cleveland and Matt Rains, while Flint emerged from a Republican primary field that included Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, former state Sen. Al Olszewski and educator Ray Curtis.
