'I mean, clearly,' Jalen Hurts tells GQ when asked if he and A.J. Brown grew apart in Philadelphia

After an uneven 2025 season for Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and the Eagles’ offense as a whole, Philadelphia traded Brown to the Patriots for a pair of future draft picks. The blockbuster move came amid signs that Hurts’ once-close friendship between the franchise quarterback and star receiver had deteriorated.

While more than two months have passed since Brown's move to New England, questions about his relationship with Hurts have lingered. During the Patriots’ recent joint practices with the Eagles, Brown offered a one-word response when asked whether he had spoken with Hurts since the trade.

"No," Brown told reporters.

While Hurts has largely avoided discussing the state of his relationship with Brown, he took a different approach this week during a sit-down interview with GQ. "There's no surprise that it was talked about," Hurts told the magazine when asked whether he and Brown had remained close, acknowledging the shift in the relationship.

Hurts, the MVP of Super Bowl LIX, then effectively confirmed Brown's comments from last month, saying, "I mean, clearly," Hurts noted.

In June, Brown said no single incident had sparked the rift between the two former Eagles teammates.

"Nothing happened, people just grow apart. Nothing happened between me and him, or ‌our families, ⁠wives, anything. Nothing like that ever happened," Brown said at the time during an appearance on the "7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony" podcast.

"Life happens, and you just look up sometimes and you just, you find yourself drifting away, and that's fine. And I think both parties accepted that."

Brown and Hurts were seen catching up together during the second of the two Patriots-Eagles joint practices in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

"Honestly, guys, none of that stuff even matters, man. You all should want to report something positive. You know asking the question is going to turn negative," Brown said last month when reporters pressed him with follow-up questions about his relationship with Hurts. "So let's not get into that. Let's keep everything positive. It's love my way."

Meanwhile, Hurts offered a similarly warm assessment of Brown. "I've got a lot of love for him and always have," Hurts said.

Brown owns the two highest single-season receiving yardage totals in Eagles history: 1,496 yards in 2022 and 1,456 in 2023. The Eagles won the franchise’s second Vince Lombardi Trophy the following season, despite some drama involving Brown.

Philadelphia was eliminated in the wild-card round this past January, losing at home to the San Francisco 49ers. Brown then told the Eagles' front office he wanted a change of scenery, general manager Howie Roseman said at the time. Sources told ESPN that part of Brown's frustration centered on Hurts and a belief that he was not being targeted enough when he faced zone coverage.

Brown also made several social media comments and comments during media sessions during the 2025 season that appeared to reflect frustration with his role in the offense.

While Brown expressed gratitude for his time in the City of Brotherly Love, he said he's turned his attention to a new season with a new team.

"It's love. I won a Super Bowl ring with them. It will always be love no matter how anyone feels. I love Philly and I will always love Philly, but I'm here now," said Brown. "That's where my feet are and that's what I'm focused on."

Long before they became Eagles teammates, Hurts hosted Brown on a recruiting visit to Alabama. Their friendship deepened through offseason workouts, and Hurts eventually became godfather to Brown’s daughter, Jersee.

The Eagles open the regular season Sept. 13 at home against the Washington Commanders. The Patriots, meanwhile, visit the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 9 for their 2026 season opener.

Justin Tucker looks to make NFL comeback after spa allegations, works out with the Jets

Justin Tucker was among three kickers who worked out for the New York Jets on Wednesday, according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty also participated in the workout.

Tucker, who is widely considered the greatest kicker in NFL history, has not played since the 2024 season. Last season, Tucker did not sign with a team after serving a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

In January 2025, The Baltimore Banner reported that 16 female massage therapists had accused Tucker of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior during sessions between 2012 and 2016 at eight spas in and around Baltimore.

The Baltimore Ravens released Tucker in May of that year, after 13 seasons with the franchise.

Tucker was never criminally charged or sued civilly over the allegations. He has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Tucker, his wife, Amanda, and his legal team spoke exclusively to OutKick the following month. His attorneys, led by Joe Terry of Williams & Connolly, provided information they said cast doubt on the accusations.

Among the material cited by Tucker’s legal team was an email from one accuser who told Tucker it had been "a pleasure working with you" when he canceled his membership at one of the spas in 2016.

That information does not, by itself, prove Tucker’s innocence.

The allegations prompted comparisons to those made against Deshaun Watson. Both cases involved allegations from multiple massage therapists. Watson faced allegations from more than two dozen women and ultimately settled 23 civil lawsuits. He received an 11-game suspension in 2022.

Despite the allegations, Watson signed the NFL’s first multiyear, fully guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns. Five years and $230 million, to be exact.

The Ravens, by contrast, released Tucker after the allegations became public. His future in the NFL is now in doubt.

The difference is that the Browns believed Watson was still a franchise quarterback in his prime. The team was wrong. Watson has never returned to his previous level of play and has become one of the league’s most disappointing starting quarterbacks since.

Tucker’s situation is different. He is a kicker who turns 37 in November and is coming off the worst statistical season of his career. In 2024, he made only 73.3% of his field-goal attempts, a career low.

As usual, multiple statements can be true at once.

Tucker would have had a job last season after his suspension had he still been one of the best kickers in the league.
When last seen, he was still better than several kickers in the league.

In any case, NFL teams weigh a player’s baggage, even if unproven, against his performance. To this point, teams have not considered Tucker worth it.

Tucker worked out for the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, both of which opted not to sign him.

3 dead, including suspected gunman, and 3 officers injured in Minneapolis shooting

Three people were killed, and four others were injured in a shooting Wednesday in downtown Minneapolis. Three police officers were among those hurt, and the suspected gunman was among the dead, officials said.

Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) Sgt. Garrett Parten said at a news conference that it's unclear how the suspected gunman died.

MPD police officers were at the site of the shooting, which involved "multiple victims," the city said, including the three law enforcement officers.

Officers were shot in the shin and abdomen, sources told Fox News.

Seven patients were brought to a nearby hospital, the Hennepin Healthcare Medical Center told Fox News Digital.

The shooting triggered a large police presence.

"My public safety team is responding to a shooting that took place downtown Minneapolis this afternoon," Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz wrote on X. "State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement, and we will share more information as it becomes available."

In a subsequent post, Walz thanked law enforcement for "working to ensure the safety of our neighbors" in the area.

"Minnesota is praying for our first responders," he wrote. Another states: "Pray for Minnesota."

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in nearby St. Paul were also responding.

The Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police acknowledged the injured officers in a social media post.

"Two Minneapolis officers were shot today answering the call downtown," the organization wrote. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved — the wounded, their families, and the officers still holding the line tonight."

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison called the shooting "horrifying."

"My deepest thoughts are with those killed and hurt, including the police officers injured," he said. "I pray for their quick recovery. I fully support responding law enforcement & my office will help in all the ways possible."

Amy Klobuchar, the Democratic nominee in the Minnesota governor's race, said she spoke with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey about the "horrific shootings."

Her Republican opponent, state House Speaker Lisa Demuth, said she was aware of what happened, and she was "praying for the victims of this heinous crime, and I'm incredibly thankful for the massive response of our brave law enforcement officers."

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., offered a message of support via X.

"I am praying for all the families impacted by this horrific act of violence," Omar said.

The University of St. Thomas, which has a building near the area of the shooting, told Fox News Digital it has locked down the Minneapolis campus.

The City of Minneapolis shared that the "area is now secure," and that "there is no further threat to the public at this time."

'We need to return immediately,' flight crew warns as pilot health emergency unfolds

A Delta Air Lines flight returned to an airport within minutes of takeoff after the crew reported a medical emergency involving a pilot.

Delta Flight 1208 returned to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) shortly after departing for Orlando, Florida, because of a reported medical issue involving a pilot, the airline told Fox News Digital.

"The crew followed established procedures to return to MSP where the aircraft landed safely," Delta said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

"As safety comes first at Delta, we are focused on supporting the pilot and our customers to ensure onward travel."

The Boeing 757-300 was carrying 178 passengers and seven crew members on the Aug. 31 flight, according to a Delta spokesperson.

The plane took off at about 11:29 a.m., and the crew requested a return roughly four minutes later, according to FlightAware data.

"We need to return to the field," a crew member said in an air traffic control recording, according to reports. "Nature of the emergency: We have a potential pilot incapacitation. … We would like to return immediately."

The crew declared an emergency to receive priority handling from air traffic control, the Delta spokesperson said.

After landing safely in Minneapolis, Delta arranged for a new flight crew so that the flight could continue to Orlando.

The flight arrived in Orlando later that evening, according to the airline.

Fox News Digital previously reported on another in-flight medical emergency involving multiple crew members.

A Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland to Fort Lauderdale declared a medical emergency a couple of weeks ago after four flight attendants developed headaches and nausea shortly before landing.

The pilots asked for emergency medical personnel to meet the Airbus A321 at the gate at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to air traffic control communications.

The aircraft landed without incident and emergency responders waiting at the airport.

'Wheel of Fortune' announcer Jim Thornton's attorney speaks out after game show suspension

"Wheel of Fortune" announcer Jim Thornton is defending himself through his lawyer after he was suspended this week.

His attorney told TMZ Tuesday that the 61-year-old "did not engage in any illegal conduct, was not arrested, and has not been charged with any crime."

"We have recently been made aware of allegations concerning Jim Thornton," a spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television Studios told Fox News Digital Tuesday.

"He has been suspended from ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ and we are recasting while we conduct a thorough investigation."

Thornton was hired as an announcer for the game show in 2011.

The alleged incident was related to an American Airlines flight Thornton took in May in which another passenger complained about Thornton’s behavior, according to TMZ. He was met by law enforcement at a gate.

"On May 14, American Airlines Flight 1276 was met by law enforcement upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport following concerns reported by a customer onboard," the airline told Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

The primary is over; now come the primetime mistakes

There’s a reason football great Deion Sanders was known as "Primetime." Sanders epitomized his sobriquet with electric performances on "Monday Night Football" and in the playoffs.

But not every political candidate is ready for primetime.

The roadside is littered with political failures from both sides. Candidates are better suited for late-night public access in the suburbs.

Consider for a moment someone else who also wasn’t bad in primetime: former football star Herschel Walker. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982. But when Walker ran for the Senate in Georgia in 2024, his political acumen could barely qualify him for a political practice squad.

UNEARTHED INTERVIEW REVEALS EL-SAYED’S SHARIA ‘OBLIGATION’: ‘NOT BECAUSE OF FEAR’

This year, Democrats trotted out political novice Graham Platner to try to defeat 30-year veteran Sen. Susan Collins, R-Man. But his Nazi-era tattoo and allegations of rape and sexual abuse revealed that Platner was more downtrodden than Down East.

So, how will some of this year’s political hopefuls fare?

Platner would have been the Democrats’ most controversial candidate of the 2026 Senate election cycle. But Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has eclipsed Platner.

El-Sayed is progressive. He holds extreme views and previously associated closely with left-wing influencer Hasan Piker.

During an appearance on Fox, El-Sayed compared Sharia law to canon law in the Catholic Church, pitched ditching the Second Amendment and somehow wound up discussing private parts.

El-Sayed’s performance scored headlines. But he also created headaches for Democrats. The party needs to hold the Michigan seat to flip the Senate. And El-Sayed is exactly what Republicans were looking for.

Since El-Sayed captured the Democratic nomination to face former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., Republicans hope to use him to nationalize the midterms. They want to portray El-Sayed as "what’s wrong" with the Democratic Party and why he’s not aligned with mainstream voters.

The GOP believes that message will trickle down to other Democratic candidates around the country.

In other words, could El-Sayed’s echo undercut Democratic candidates beyond the Wolverine State?

When campaigning, El-Sayed promoted polished policy positions.

"You deserve good health care," said El-Sayed. "You deserve protections at your job."

But when asked on Fox about boys playing sports with girls and sex changes for kids, his rhetoric devolved to this:

"Circumcision is surgery on a kid's ding-a-ling. So, you really want to bring that up? I just think you guys are really selective about how you guys want to talk about things," El-Sayed told Fox’s Jesse Watters.

Political consultants on both sides of the aisle will likely agree. If a candidate finds himself on national television using euphemisms for private parts and not discussing the war in Iran or the cost of groceries, something is wrong.

El-Sayed also backs Medicare-for-all and slavery reparations.

"I just think it's past time to have that conversation. That shouldn't be a crazy thing," said El-Sayed.

Republicans are clamoring to hear more from El-Sayed.

"It's common sense versus communist crazy. And don't believe my word. Listen to what El-Sayed says," House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain, R-Mich., told Fox Business.

DEMOCRATS WHO ‘NEVER VOTED REPUBLICAN’ BACK ROGERS OVER EL-SAYED IN RAZOR-CLOSE RACE

El-Sayed’s association with Piker worries Democrats because Piker espouses antisemitic views.

"Those comments were dangerous, malicious and antisemitic and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone in the public square," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said.

But now El-Sayed is distancing himself from Piker.

"I got so much exposure and empowerment from the Jewish community," said El-Sayed at a rally. "Jewish people are a light unto the world."

But not everyone is buying it.

"His response was pathetic, and it did not answer the call," Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., one of the most pro-Israel Democrats in the House, said on Fox. "This is not a guy who any of us should embrace."

In fact, the campaign of Rogers went as far as to say that El-Sayed was making the case for their candidate.

President Trump recently escalated the trade war with Canada. He renamed Lake Ontario as "Lake America."

El-Sayed vanquished moderate Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., in the primary. With all of this tumult, one wonders if Democrats would feel better wrestling with the president over trade with Stevens as their nominee versus El-Sayed.

That said, politics is a funny thing.

This doesn’t mean that El-Sayed is unelectable. Progressives throb with energy inside the Democratic Party right now. Someone like El-Sayed could actually bolster turnout among the left. This could work to the Democrats’ advantage if Republicans stay home because they’re disappointed in President Trump.

Or, as House Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Ted Lieu, D-Calif., told voters this week, "Just go fu----- vote."

On the Republican side of the aisle, few had heard of Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., until brother Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., died unexpectedly. Republican South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster quickly appointed Darline to her brother’s seat and cajoled her to run for the full term.

Darline Graham was a political neophyte. And despite President Trump tapping her for the permanent gig, it was far from clear that she was ready for primetime. During a debate in the GOP primary runoff with Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., Graham stumbled when asked about U.S. interests regarding Taiwan.

"I’m not that informed on national security," said Graham. "But I do support the military."

Of course, foreign policy was her brother’s forte. He died just after jetting back to Washington after meetings in Turkey and Ukraine.

But Darline Graham used the gaffe to pivot. She claimed that voters are more concerned with kitchen table issues.

"You know how many (people) brought up Taiwan or national security?" Graham said when stumping. "Not one. They're talking about the rising cost of health care and affordability."

A reporter pressed Graham for details about harnessing inflation.

"Is there something from you, affirmatively (could do like) a piece of legislation, to help drive down the cost of goods?" a scribe asked.

"We'll see when I get there," Graham replied.

Well, Graham is already "here." She’s been in the Senate since mid-July. Some voters could interpret that response as another blunder, perhaps one better suited for Saturday afternoon syndication compared to primetime.

Norman homed in on economics.

"Prices are still too high. Groceries. Gas," said Norman. "(Voters are) feeling it in their pocketbooks."

Darline Graham vanquished Norman in the primary. And barring a major upset by Democratic South Carolina Senate nominee Annie Andrews, Graham is poised to win a full six-year term in the Senate in November.

That’s primetime. Ready or not.

Emmitt Smith accused of conning Native American investor out of $2.5M in solar farm deal

Emmitt Smith, the Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, has been accused of conning a Native American investor out of $2.5 million, a lawsuit filed in Delaware on Monday read.

The lawsuit states that Kituwah LLC, an investment and economic development sector of the Band of Cherokee Indians, loaned $2.5 million after being convinced to join an alleged solar project by Smith, his business partner David Mosley, and 413 Solutions, Inc. – their real estate company, per Front Office Sports.

Kituwah claims that it has not seen "a penny" from the loan, which is more than two years past due. It also alleged that their money loaned was used to pay back a separate company that previously invested in the project.

Project Exodus solar farm was the name of the venture that Kituwah invested in with the understanding it would be named a partner. It alleged the U.S. Department of Energy would be funding the project as well.

Kituwah LLC is seeking at least $2.5 million in damages as well as interest, costs, expenses, and anything else determined during a trial.

"Kituwah poured substantial time, efforts, and resources in the purported joint venture," the suit states. "Not only has Kituwah not seen any returns on its investment, Kituwah has been forced to expend additional costs in efforts to reclaim the amounts it is still owed pursuant to its investment, including to investigate what happened to its money."

Kituwah went as far as to say it was "essentially, like a Ponzi scheme," claiming that "false projections and data" were given to them as they made the loan. They also claim that the loan was supposed to be paid back "in a matter of months."

Kituwah said it did an investigation, finding that the money went to Wilson Holdings, which Smith and the other defendants in the lawsuit have partnered with on separate investments.

Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, tallying 18,355 yards on the ground during his Hall of Fame career, which mostly was spent with the Dallas Cowboys. Smith won three Super Bowls with the franchise across 13 seasons, while playing his final two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Blue state creates six-figure role for trans inmate services amid budget shortfalls

The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) hired a gender-affirming care coordinator last month, and the job will pay between $78,000 and $115,000 annually.

The job includes oversight of a program for "managing and monitoring needs and safety risks of transgender, intersex and non-binary adults in custody," according to the listing. The position also chairs a multidisciplinary team focused on their individualized needs.

The role, which comes as the DOC is projected to have a $55 million deficit in 2026, continues gender-related initiatives spearheaded by Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, a longtime champion of the trans community, as she pursues re-election to a second term.

It also highlights the logistical difficulties associated with trans prisoners.

After a 2023 review of Oregon’s only women-only prison, the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, Kotek said her administration would look for ways to address what the report called delayed care for its cisgender and trans inmates.

"Transgender residents [are] being denied or delayed access to needed care, including hormone replacement therapy. This creates significant medical and mental health issues for some residents, including gender dysphoria," the report stated.

The report included one example of a transgender resident at the Coffee Creek who said her request for continuing her hormone blocker treatment had gone unheeded.

"I had been accessing prescriptions at the county. I did not get it when I got here. … I sent several [requests], but they kept bumping me to different places. Now I’ve gotten my period twice. It’s been terrorizing and humiliating," the resident, a biological woman, said.

Kotek promised to address issues raised by the report.

"In the wake of national, systemic shortcomings in meeting the needs of women who are incarcerated, I am resolved to confront these issues head-on," Kotek said in a press release.

"The GIPA report was sobering to read. It is incumbent on Oregon’s corrections system to ensure that the use of carceral settings yield the best possible public safety outcomes and sets people up for successful re-entry."

As a part of the response, her office created the Advisory Panel on Gender Responsive Practices in Corrections.

In turn, the panel recommended training staff who make decisions about housing and medical and behavioral care for the needs of transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse inmates.

The panel did not specifically recommend the gender-affirming care coordinator position.

The role is similar to a position that would have been established through SB 1120, a failed bill. Among other provisions, that law would have created a role tasked to "provide coordination of efforts and training across staff and adults in custody on best practices for supporting transgender, nonbinary or gender-diverse adults in custody."

The hire clashes with Kotek's instruction to agencies to reduce spending. In 2025, when Republicans in Washington, D.C., passed tax cuts through President Donald Trump's "big beautiful bill," Oregon's tax picture also changed.

The state's tax code mirrors many of the definitions of taxable income used by the federal government. When those definitions shrank, so did Oregon's revenue, leaving the state with a negative general fund balance of $373.7 million, according to state reports.

"This is not what we had planned for, but it is what we must do. I am asking you to leave no stone unturned to save tax-payer dollars. This challenge is not unique to Oregon, but how we respond will be. Our resilience, teamwork and determination have carried us through hard times before. They will again," Kotek wrote in a letter to state department heads.

Like other departments, the DOC was also affected, reporting a projected $55 million deficit. To remedy this, the department was instructed to slow operational spending, prepare for operational cost reductions and suspend non-essential out-of-state travel.

Even so, Kotek has highlighted trans care as a priority, strongly advocating for a government-led approach to expanding access to trans procedures, calling them part of "health care."

"I want to be very clear. Gender-affirming care is health care. Period, end of story," Kotek said at a bill signing in 2023 after the legislature passed a reproductive and gender-affirming care package.

She has also pushed back against attempts from the Trump administration to limit federal funding for hospitals that provide transgender procedures to minors.

"The Trump administration cannot change the rules and restrict funding to hospitals and doctors who provide gender-affirming care to young people. Vice President JD Vance’s mom, Beverly Vance Aikins, says she’d like to clock Michigan Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed after his repeated attacks on the second family.

"I'd probably punch the guy if I ever seen him, and then that would get me in trouble. So, I'll just go with the flow," Aikins told Outkick and Fox News host Tomi Lahren when asked how she felt about El-Sayed’s crude comments.

Aikins sat down with Lahren for a wide-ranging interview about her triumph over opioid addiction, Netflix’s "Hillbilly Elegy" and her son’s rise to the vice presidency.

She made the comments after El-Sayed has repeatedly taken aim at Vance and his family.

El-Sayed made comments about second lady Usha Vance and the Vance children during an April appearance on "The Allen Analysis Show," clips of which have recently resurfaced.

"I think they're jealous, honestly. I mean, JD is 42 years old. He's handsome. He's the vice president of the United States," Aikins said.

The Michigan socialist said he hopes Vance’s kids grow up to "undo" the vice president’s politics.

"I actually think that the people of Michigan think it's kind of weird when you talk about another guy's wife," Vance said.

NYPD searches for suspect who threw furniture at 90-year-old woman on sidewalk

Police are searching for a suspect after a 90-year-old woman was attacked while walking along a Brooklyn sidewalk earlier this week, and surveillance video obtained by a local news station appears to capture the violent encounter.

The assault happened around 9:47 a.m. Monday outside 501 Brighton Beach Ave. in the Brighton Beach neighborhood, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Police said the woman was walking when an unidentified man approached and threw a piece of furniture at her, causing her to fall to the ground before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police have not identified a motive for the attack, and it was not immediately clear whether the suspect and victim knew each other.

German-Palestinian-American filmmaker Lexi Alexander pushed an X post appearing to cheer the death of Bank of America executive Erin Piacenti Tuesday, referencing accused UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione.

Piacenti was identified as the victim of a deadly stabbing in New York City’s Times Square Monday, when a woman carrying a knife also wounded another person before police shot and killed the suspect.

Piacenti was in her first week back at Bank of America after spending five months caring for her newborn daughter.

In response to the news, Alexander, who directed the 2005 drama "Green Street Hooligans" and the 2008 film "Punisher: War Zone," reposted a headline of the report alongside an image of Batman staring up at a bat signal that was replaced with Mangione's face.

DHS boss reveals Oval Office plan to 'withhold funding' from sanctuary cities after aggressive New York bust

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Tuesday the White House is exploring legal ways to withhold federal funding from sanctuary states and cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement.

Speaking on "The Ingraham Angle," Mullin highlighted the arrests of more than 2,100 illegal immigrants in New York and said Immigration and Customs Enforcement will continue deportations despite local sanctuary restrictions.

"Literally 20 minutes ago, I was sitting in the Oval Office of the president, and we were having this conversation about how do we withhold funding legally from these sanctuary cities," Mullin told host Laura Ingraham.

"Why are we allowing these sanctuary cities to still get funding from the federal government when it comes to, let's say, their airport, when we're processing immigration through these international airports? DHS has launched several deportation operations since President Donald Trump began his second term, most recently in New York with an operation dubbed Rotten Apple. Mullin said the operation resulted in more than 2,100 arrests, including people accused of murder, rape, child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.

He had other people that were in the Oval Office with me talking about how can we hold federal funding from these sanctuary cities that are refusing to just simply do one thing: uphold the law of the land," Mullin said, adding that he and immigration agents "don’t pick and choose which laws to enforce."

According to DHS, one of the illegal immigrants arrested during the New York operation was a Ukrainian national with convictions for kidnapping, abduction resulting in death, criminal possession of a weapon and murder. DHS said another suspect from Colombia had previously been arrested for "course of sexual conduct against a child" and acting "in a manner to injure a child less than 17."

And two specific passengers have fans hopeful heading into next week’s matchup down under.

Tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa, two very important pieces of Kyle Shanahan’s roster, made the trip with the rest of the team, according to multiple reports.

This is encouraging considering both have been dealing with their own recovery from injury.

After practicing on Wednesday, the 49ers took flight to Australia, where they’re expected to land on Friday due to the 17-hour time difference. It’s that time difference that the 49ers are making sure players get accustomed to it before they take on the Rams on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET.

For both teams, it will actually be Friday morning at 10:35 a.m. That’s when kickoff will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, is on trial for killing her three young children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — at the family's home Jan. 24, 2023.

She faces three counts of first-degree murder. Clancy does not dispute that she killed her children but argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and is not criminally responsible.

"People are out of their f---ing mind right now. She's out of her f---ing mind. The world is out of its f---ing mind. It's like more of these things come up where you're like, ‘This can't be real. This can't be real.’ And it is real," he said.

"More of these things where, like, people are showing up in support of a woman who killed her children. I don't care how rough it was. The ability to kill your children is crazy."

Rogan contrasted this sentiment from Clancy's supporters to the common understanding that parents would do anything to protect their children from harm.

Later on in the podcast, Rogan argued there is a growing radicalization of people, particularly among childless liberal women, that cannot be ignored.

"I don't want to generalize, but it seems like it's Republicans too, but it's a lot of liberal women," Rogan said. "Liberal women with no children want to turn the world into their children. They want to, like, scold the world like they're doing the wrong thing, and they're worried about the environment.

"And they're worried about the future. And they're worried about voting. And they're worried about rights. And they're worried about immigrants. They're worried about this, and they're worried about that. They're taking care of the world like it's the child that they don't have."

Fox News Digital spoke to various experts about Rogan’s comments.

Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring, a board-certified psychiatrist and CEO and medical director of TaperClinic, warned that social media popularity indeed has added a grim spectacle to this case.

"Rogan is right about one thing: People can turn cases like this into teams. That is not healthy. Lindsay Clancy should not be treated like a hero or celebrity. Three children died. And some of the TikTok commentary around this case is just dumb. People are defending her for reasons that have nothing to do with the evidence or acting as if her husband must somehow be the real villain," Witt-Doerring said.

"That is ignorant and deplorable. It reminds me of the Luigi Mangione case, where people rushed to turn someone into a symbol before they even understood the facts. If you are going to defend Lindsay, defend her based on the actual medical and legal evidence, not because of some viral narrative.

"I think this is where a lot of people misunderstand what the support for Lindsay actually represents. They see a few extreme voices online and assume that is what everyone supporting her believes. Most women supporting Lindsay are not saying, 'It’s OK that she killed her children.' They are saying the postpartum period can be extremely hard, and many women understand the anxiety, lack of sleep, financial stress and pressure to return to work.

"They are also angry at a mental health system that often seems to rely too much on medication. Lindsay was prescribed 13 different psychiatric drugs in the months before the deaths, and there is evidence that those medications may have played a role in making her worse. Would a father get the same sympathy?

"Probably less. But if a father came home from war, became depressed, trusted his doctors, was put on drugs that pushed him into psychosis and killed someone while unable to understand what he was doing, I would make the same argument for him.

"I also think it is wrong to say that if Lindsay is found NGRI [not guilty by reason of insanity] then anyone with mental illness can commit a crime and avoid prison. That is not how it works," he said, adding that cases like Clancy's are "rare, extreme cases."

Mary Marslender, a former GOP consultant, agreed with Rogan that there is a clear double standard regarding how a man would be treated in a similar case.

"Joe Rogan is spot on. Would there be a supporter rally for a father who committed the same act? Of course not. If a man mapped how long his wife would be gone, sent her out for takeout and then violently strangled his three children in the basement, no one would be posting 'I am him,'" Marslender said.

"There would be no GoFundMe campaign framed as solidarity. He would be labeled a monster, and these same women in pink would be the first to condemn him. The double standard is not a surprise; it is the hypocrisy of feminism."

Marslender concluded, "It is possible to acknowledge that Clancy was ill and that our psychiatric system is deeply flawed, while also refusing to idolize someone who brutally killed her own children. This is not a story of misplaced compassion; it’s one of deep moral confusion.

"These children were not merely statistics or a talking point; they were a 5-year-old, a 3-year-old and a baby. A movement that needs to be reminded of these children’s humanity clearly is not to society’s benefit."

Burning Man murder mystery deepens as new details emerge 1 year after desert festival killing

A year after a man was found stabbed to death inside a tent at Burning Man — the annual weeklong art and music festival in Nevada's Black Rock Desert — his killer remains at large, and investigators still cannot account for the final hours before his death.

Vadim Kruglov, a 37-year-old Russian-born man who had been living in Washington state, was discovered in a pool of blood at the wild festival at about 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2025, as the iconic "Man" burned. And with this year's event already underway after kicking off Sunday and scheduled to conclude on Labor Day, no arrests have been made.

But new details about the killing and Kruglov's final days are now emerging through KTLA and a yearlong investigation by SFGATE, which interviewed more than 80 people connected to Kruglov, or the sprawling desert festival which draws up to 80,000 people known as "burners."

Investigators said that they believe Kruglov was killed inside the red-and-white tent where his body was found, Pershing County Sheriff's Sgt. Nathan Carmichael told SFGATE.

A knife remained lodged in his neck, and an autopsy found no defensive wounds, suggesting he had little or no chance to fight back, according to the outlet.

"When you get stabbed in the manner that he was, you’re going to be out in seconds," Carmichael told SFGATE.

The weapon was recovered at the scene and yielded several DNA profiles, then-Pershing County Detective Josh Nicholson told SFGATE.

Kruglov's cellphone was also recovered, but had not been unlocked at the time of Nicholson's interview, the outlet reported.

One of the largest unanswered questions centers on the roughly four hours before Kruglov was found.

Black Rock Rangers — fellow burners who assist others in need — reportedly took him to Rampart, a temporary hospital on the festival grounds, where he spent much of Aug. 30, and received medical care, Nicholson told SFGATE.

He was released at about 5 p.m., but investigators have not publicly accounted for his movements between then and 9:14 p.m., when he was discovered with the fatal neck wound.

Earlier that morning, at about 2 a.m., Kruglov had reportedly been seen DJing with two men at a camp on the outskirts of the festival, not far from where his body would later be found.

Authorities have not identified those men, despite receiving hundreds of tips, according to KTLA.

Friends and campmates also described troubling behavior in the days before Kruglov's death. They told SFGATE that he became increasingly paranoid after using cocaine and what may have been methamphetamine, at one point saying people were watching him and wanted him out of the camp.

One campmate, Alex Barnov, told the outlet he believed Kruglov's paranoia was drug-induced and said Kruglov appeared fine after waking the next day.

Another campmate said Kruglov was focused on getting an Apple AirTag to work on Aug. 29, so others could track him, though the remote location made the device difficult to use, according to SFGATE.

Kruglov's death unfolded as tens of thousands of festivalgoers gathered for the burning of "The Man," the signature spectacle at the annual nine-day gathering dedicated to art, community and self-expression.

His death marked the first known homicide in Burning Man’s history, Carmichael told SFGATE.

A man initially alerted a deputy after finding Kruglov on the ground, according to the Pershing County Sheriff's Office. Authorities secured the area and established a perimeter while the celebration continued around them.

An anonymous witness later told The Hollywood Reporter that she and her partner were leaving Black Rock City when an older woman in a red dress flagged them down and calmly said a man inside her tent was "bleeding out and might be dead." The woman reportedly said she had not checked his pulse because she "didn’t want to touch him."

The group contacted a Black Rock Ranger using Starlink, and the information was relayed to law enforcement, the witness said.

Kruglov, who was originally from Omsk, Siberia, was identified through fingerprints by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office days after the killing.

His father, Igor Kruglov, later released an emotional video from Russia calling for justice.

"Words can’t express my feelings," he said. "I’m proud of my son, now known worldwide. He felt injustice deeply and fought for fairness always. I believe a similar situation occurred here. I want those responsible to face consequences."

In the days after the killing, the sheriff's office appealed for any information that could identify a suspect in what it called a "heinous crime."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pershing County Sheriff's Office.

Stan Kroenke's record-setting LA Angels purchase should make longterm MLB lockout less likely

If there were any remaining doubts as to the viability and earning potential of Major League Baseball teams, this week's news should end it.

Out of seemingly nowhere, Stan Kroenke, one of the wealthiest people in America, agreed to purchase a majority stake in the Los Angeles Angels from longtime owner Arte Moreno. It had been rumored in recent years that Moreno was considering a sale, but a deal never materialized. Until now.

The price Kroenke paid for the Angels was estimated at a record-breaking $4 billion, representing an enormous return for Moreno who purchased the franchise for just over $180 million from the Walt Disney Company back in 2003. It was also, at first glance, a significant price for an organization that has the longest postseason drought in baseball. Despite having Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the same roster for several seasons, the Angels have not reached the playoffs since 2014.

The immediate question, then, is why? Why would Kroenke, an eminently talented and successful businessman who's already principal owner of organizations like the Los Angeles Rams, Arsenal FC and the Denver Nuggets, now turn his attention to, well, the polar opposite?

And the answer explains why so much of the information coming from Major League Baseball and the league's owners is misleading, at best.

With the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and MLB Players Association expiring at the end of the season, it's widely expected that the owners will lock the players out until a new deal can be reached. The largest point of contention between the two sides is disagreement over a potential salary cap.

Players have, for decades, said a salary cap is a red line they will never accept. While owners are hoping to take advantage of widespread, and inaccurate, fan sentiment believing that a salary cap is necessary for the league to achieve competitive balance.

Another key aspect of their argument is that the business of baseball is not as strong as it should be. That franchise valuations have lagged behind the NFL because that league has a salary cap, ensuring relatively fixed costs for players. As well as that the collapse of the local sports television networks have negatively impacted their bottom lines.

Here's the problem with that, though: there have been two MLB organizations to sell in 2026: the San Diego Padres and now the Angels. Both set records for the largest ever purchase price of an MLB team, and neither organization has a local broadcast partner, like say, the Dodgers do with Spectrum SportsNet LA or the Yankees do with YES. If the loss in revenue from those television deals was so catastrophic, why are these two organizations worth so much money?

MLBPA Interim Executive Director Bruce Meyer told OutKick that it shows the "overall health" of the industry is outstanding and that owners are realizing "huge profits."

"Arte Moreno bought the Angels in 2003 for $183.5 million. His ownership failures are well documented, from highlighting that winning wasn’t a priority, to unsubstantiated complaints about profitability. Yet despite his long record of underachievement, Moreno sold the team to Stan Kroenke for a record $4-$4.5 billion, netting a multi-billion dollar return on his purchase. It's a perfect example of the overall health of the industry, and the huge profits owners realize from owning baseball teams—value which is generated by the talents of players."

Kroenke's not one to make bad investments, nor one to rush to judgment on a $4 billion purchase. So why'd he do it? Because, as Meyer says, baseball is booming.

The Angels are a potential gold mine waiting to be taken advantage of by competent ownership. Even without a competitive team, for more than a decade, the Angels still rank 13th in baseball in average attendance with nearly 33,000 tickets sold per game. Already, reports have suggested Kroenke intends to build a brand new, multi-billion dollar stadium to take advantage of a fanbase ready and willing to support a winning team.

Trout, the long-suffering franchise icon, said as much.

"I'm excited," he said Tuesday after the news broke. "Look, the track record — it's there."

"Seeing the reaction from the fans and some of the guys and the whole vibe, I think it was needed for a fresh start," he continued. "The biggest thing is getting that feeling of getting that winning culture back and having that vibe in the clubhouse."

This is a sleeping giant in the nation's second-largest media market. The Padres down the road sell out most of their games. A more appropriately-run Angels team could be next.

Then there's the real estate investment component. Angel Stadium sits on a massive, underdeveloped parking lot. Kroenke is almost certainly looking to tear up that wasted concrete and build mixed-use development nearby. Shops, restaurants, townhomes, apartments, condos, you name it. Build a ballpark village next to a brand new facility, and people will come.

This model has already been demonstrated by The Battery, a Braves-owned development next to Truist Park in the Atlanta area. New York Mets owner Steve Cohen intends to build a casino on underutilized land next to Citi Field. Billionaire owners are capitalizing on their baseball franchises to create real estate portfolios that rely on fans from those teams.

That's well within their rights, of course, and it's smart business. It also can create a better experience for fans, who can come to the ballpark earlier or stay afterward with friends and family. The problem from the players' perspective is that when the league says they want to base a salary cap on the revenue they bring in, they exclude this ancillary, connected, income from the calculation.

Kroenke bought the Angels for a gigantic price because he doesn't care whether a salary cap happens or not. None of the owners care about a salary cap, at least as it pertains to competitive balance. They want to limit spending on players and retain more profits. That's it.

They claim their businesses are struggling. That they're losing money and don't turn enough yearly profit. Lindsay Clancy jury recap: Day 5 ends with no verdict after rare instruction

The jury in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial spent a fifth day deliberating Wednesday, reported for a second time that it was deadlocked, received a rare instruction from the judge urging jurors to keep working toward a verdict and ultimately went home without reaching a unanimous decision.

The latest developments brought the closely watched Massachusetts murder trial a step closer to the possibility of a mistrial, though jurors are scheduled to return Thursday to continue deliberating.

The panel of nine women and three men resumed deliberations Wednesday after telling Plymouth Superior Court Judge William Sullivan a day earlier that it could not unanimously agree on a verdict.

Jurors continued deliberating for several more hours after receiving the instruction before Sullivan dismissed them for the day without a verdict.

Named for two Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decisions, the Tuey-Rodriguez charge encourages jurors to carefully consider one another's views while preserving sincerely held convictions. It is generally considered the final procedural step before a judge may declare a mistrial if jurors remain unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

"The reasoning is that it often works," retired Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Thomas Drechsler previously told Fox News Digital. "It encourages the jurors to rethink their own feelings in light of what other jurors feel, reminds them that no one's ever going to be in a better position to decide this than them."

But if jurors again report they are deadlocked after receiving the instruction, Drechsler said, "I think there's a high likelihood that it will end up in a mistrial."

The jury must determine whether Clancy was criminally responsible when she killed her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — inside the family's Duxbury, Massachusetts, home Jan. 24, 2023.

Clancy, 36, a former labor and delivery nurse, does not dispute killing the children. Her defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should be found not criminally responsible. Prosecutors contend she carefully planned the killings, knew right from wrong and concealed disturbing thoughts from medical providers because she understood they were wrong.

Wednesday also brought developments outside the courtroom after Dawn Light, the woman accused of filming jurors as they left the courthouse Tuesday, was arraigned on a witness intimidation-related charge. She pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors said a video recovered from her cellphone showed Clancy jurors leaving the courthouse, while Light maintained she was trying to catch a glimpse of Clancy and did not realize she had recorded jurors.

A judge released Light on personal recognizance and ordered her to stay away from the courthouse, have no contact with jurors or witnesses and refrain from sharing any images.

Before jurors resumed deliberations Wednesday morning, Sullivan also reminded those in the courtroom that orders protecting jurors and other participants are "being enforced and will be enforced," though he did not specifically reference Light's arrest.

Transgender actor Elliot Page revealed Thursday on the "On Film... with Kevin McCarthy" podcast that acting offers had dried up after appearing in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster "The Odyssey," suggesting casting had become more difficult because Hollywood viewed him differently after his transition.

Page reflected on the difference between his career before and after publicly coming out as transgender in 2020, suggesting he may need to take a more proactive role in developing projects and approaching filmmakers.

The president added that he "had a very good relationship with the queen. Really good. I got to know her very well."

The school inducted Brown into the M Club Hall of Fame in 2016 and he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. He also was honored with the Billy J. Murphy Award.

The Sweetwater, Tennessee, native then began his coaching career at his alma mater in 1978. After spending time at Louisville and Tennessee as a wide receivers coach, Brown transitioned to the pro ranks.

With the New York Jets he was the team’s running backs coach from 1990-92. He returned to Tennessee for two years to be the team's wide receivers coach after his Jets tenure. Brown then returned to the pro level for the rest of his career, except for one year in 2009 when he went back to Tennessee to be a wide receivers coach.

Brown coached for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. He spent one year as the head coach of the Memphis Maniax of the XFL.

He was the Seahawks' wide receivers coach from 2010-14 when they made consecutive Super Bowl runs. Brown coached Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Jermaine Kearse and Sidney Rice and was beloved by his players and fellow staff.

"He was a great friend to everybody, because he had such a positive, good, fun-loving spirit," former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told the team's website. "Everybody loved being around Kip. And he had a light about him, he wanted to have a good time and have fun and make things pleasant for everyone around him. That's why so many people have rallied around him in this last month or so and reached out to (his wife) Deon, being supportive and loving. He was a wonderful person, and my heart goes out to Deon and the family. It's a beautiful family."

Baldwin credited Brown with helping him become the man he is today.

"Kippy was the perfect person for us, for our group of guys who came in at that time—myself, Ricardo (Lockette), Jermaine, Golden, Sid," Baldwin told the Seahawks website. "Kippy and Sidney Rice paired really well together as being the elder statesmen in the room, helping us young guys get onboarded into the NFL life.

"For me as a young person to have him as my rookie coach, I know I would not have been the player I was if it wasn't for Kippy. I owe a great deal to him as a coach who helped me develop as a player, but also the man that he was, the way that he held us accountable as young men, doing it in a way that was considerate, and we knew he was only doing it because he loved and cared about us, I wouldn't be the man that I am today without Kippy Brown."

Brown is survived by his wife, Deon, and his two children, Jennifer and Jeome.

Influencer banned from Hard Rock Stadium after incident with security during Dolphins game

Miami Dolphins games and any other event at Hard Rock Stadium, for that matter, will take place with one less influencer in attendance. A permanent ban was handed down following an incident with security on Friday night.

Tough news to hear, I know. The influencer and OnlyFans model Celina Powell was kicked out of the final Dolphins preseason game, reports TMZ. She was then banned after getting into it with stadium security.

The incident occurred after she was asked to move her feet off of a wall that was located in front of her seat, witnesses told TMZ. She allegedly replied to the request, as one does, by saying, "Shut the f*** up talking to me."

That's one way to handle the situation. Sheriff's deputies reportedly showed up to assist security with removing Powell for a little disorderly conduct.

The 31-year-old confirmed to TMZ that she was escorted out of the stadium and banned. She also told them that she was informed that she could go to court to appeal the permanent ban if she wanted.

She doesn't plan to do so and you can't blame her. Who wants to attend games at a stadium where security is going around asking people to take their feet off the wall? That's not a fun environment.

Suburban Illinois boy dies in suspected domestic homicide as neighbors fear another Lindsay Clancy case

A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday after police were called to a Frankfort, Illinois, home, where officers also found the child’s mother attempting to harm herself in a case that neighbors feared could be similar to Lindsay Clancy's.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court after receiving a report of an unresponsive child.

When they arrived, officers found the boy inside the home and began CPR before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Police said the boy’s mother was also found at the residence with injuries believed to have been self-inflicted. She was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation points to a domestic-related homicide, police said. Authorities have not disclosed how the boy died, identified the mother or said whether she has been accused of a crime.

The Frankfort Fire Protection District told FOX 32 Chicago that five people were transported from the property after crews were dispatched minutes after police arrived.

Officials have not released information about the other three people or explained why they were taken to the hospital.

The investigation continued Wednesday at the large, two-story home, which sits on a broad lawn at the end of the residential street. Police blocked off the roadway for several hours, and investigators were seen entering and leaving the property.

Carolyn Pappas, who lives nearby, said the death has left residents stunned. She told the station that the circumstances brought to mind the case of Clancy, a Massachusetts mother who admitted to killing her three children before attempting to take her own life.

"This is just absolutely devastating, that this could be another Lindsay Clancy situation in our neighborhood, in our community. You never think it's going to hit so close to home," she said, NBC Chicago reported. "And so yeah, that absolutely makes us think of that. And again, just more people I think are struggling than we realize and so we just need to be there for one another."

Pappas said the case was a reminder that a person could be struggling with a serious crisis behind closed doors without neighbors realizing it. She urged residents to check on one another and offer support.

Anna Wintour reportedly faces calls to retire after John Galliano Met Gala firestorm: ‘Lost her touch’

Anna Wintour found herself at the center of a fashion firestorm after plans to celebrate disgraced designer John Galliano at the Met Gala unraveled.

Scrapping the planned 2027 exhibition devoted to Galliano's work did little to quiet the criticism, with fashion industry insiders telling the New York Post that Wintour should face greater scrutiny over her role in the project.

"I wish Anna would take more accountability," an insider told the New York Post.

"She is the person who wanted this to happen, never fully considering the consequences,’’ the source said. "She is the public face and reaps the benefit of the gala and the surrounding coverage.

"Why does she only get to reap the rewards and not face more criticism?"

Red carpet expert Melissa Rivers told Page Six Style, "Anna Wintour is brilliant, but people rarely say no [to her]. And, in the past, she’s made some mistakes of not reading the room correctly."

Rivers said her late mother, Joan Rivers, "would have hated" a Galliano-themed Met Gala but admitted she was a fan of his designs.

"He was such a force of nature in fashion and design. … Is it a great time to honor his work? Unfortunately, no, not a great read of the room," she said.

At the heart of the Met Gala backlash was Galliano’s troubled past. Galliano, long recognized as one of the fashion world’s biggest talents for his creatively flamboyant designs, was at the pinnacle of that world for years as the creative director of Christian Dior.

He was fired in 2011 after a series of racist and antisemitic remarks he made in 2010 and 2011 surfaced and went viral, leading to his conviction in an antisemitism trial in France.

Among the remarks Galliano made to bar patrons and circulated on video was the statement, "I love Hitler." He also told Jewish patrons that their mothers and forefathers would have been "gassed." He also made derogatory comments to an Asian patron.

After he was dropped by Dior, Galliano spent several years working to rehabilitate his image and career. He made a comeback in 2014 when he was hired by Paris fashion house Maison Margiela, where he remained for a decade.

However, putting him at the center of the Costume Institute's 2027 exhibition brought new scrutiny for Vogue's former editor-in-chief. Others defended Wintour, arguing the decision had extended far beyond her.

"People seem to think she’s the sole person [making decisions about the Met theme]," a source told the New York Post. "It’s a huge amount of people on the Met board that signed off on this. She’s a piece of that.

"It wasn’t her decision alone, by any stretch of the imagination. This exhibition … people have been speaking about it for at least a couple of years," the source added. "It was a big group decision. It’s a team effort. Not just her."

Responsibility for approving the exhibition may have stretched well beyond Wintour, but Galliano appeared to make one thing clear: The decision to kill it was his.

"After much reflection and discussion with The Met and all those involved, I have decided, with great sadness, that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time," he said in a statement shared by The Met.

"I remain fully accountable for the pain caused by my words in the past, particularly the hurt I caused to the Jewish and Asian communities, and I remain deeply sorry for it.

"I understand that meaningful atonement is not achieved through an exhibition, institutional recognition or a single public gesture. It is a continuing responsibility, demonstrated through listening, learning and one’s conduct over time."

The Costume Institute's curator in charge, Andrew Bolton, also addressed the controversy, saying he supported the decision after extensive discussions.

"I believe deeply in the responsibility of museums to examine difficult histories with rigor, candor and care," he said. "I also recognize the pain and concern this exhibition has caused. After extensive discussion, I support the decision not to proceed. I remain deeply grateful to my colleagues and to the advisors, lenders, collaborators and community leaders who contributed their knowledge, trust and perspectives to the project."

Galliano took responsibility, and Bolton acknowledged the pain the exhibition had caused, but some fashion industry insiders continued to criticize Wintour. The longtime fashion power broker released her own statement, which did not include an apology.

"John's decision that the exhibition devoted to his work should not take place at this time is very courageous and a measure of the man he is," she said in a statement released Monday. "I believe this is the right decision, and both he and the Museum have my full support."

"It’s too late for an apology – she should retire," one insider told the Post.

Wintour "doesn’t understand what people are talking about and thought she could shoulder through this, and it would blow over," another source said.

"Anna’s lost her touch on the zeitgeist," the source said.

Yet insiders said Wintour’s backing of Galliano grew out of her belief in redemption and second chances. Her support for Galliano as the original choice for the 2027 Met Gala wasn't necessarily a surprise.

"It comes from a place of love and forgiveness," an insider told the outlet. "She really believes in people’s second chances and becoming better people and learning from mistakes. It came from a good place. She considers him a friend and wants what’s best for him."

"Anna is a big proponent of second chances and getting behind the underdog," another source said.

The source pointed out that Wintour brought Georgina Chapman back into the fashion fold after the #MeToo movement focused attention on allegations against her then-husband, Harvey Weinstein, encouraging people to wear her designer brand, Marchesa.

The insider added, "There is no question Galliano is talented.

"To let him come back is one thing," the source noted. "But to celebrate him on such a scale, especially when antisemitism is at its highest … it sends all the wrong messages. But Anna is very loyal to the people she is loyal to."
