White Sox look to close out Houston Astros in two games after dominant playoff opener

I've made a case in the past that it seems a bit unfair that you play 162 games only to have one postseason series given to you, and it's a best-of-three. I feel like there should be a minimum of five games for any playoff series. I understand travel concerns and other issues for this opening round, but it just feels too short. The only argument in favor would be that most regular-season series are three games; however, winning two of three in the regular season doesn't mean much. This afternoon, the White Sox look to close out the Astros in two games.

The Chicago White Sox, a team that had lost 100 or more games in each of the past three seasons, made the postseason this year. In fact, they've lost 324 games combined over the previous three seasons. Being in the playoffs should feel like an accomplishment, but winning a series would be even more impressive. They are on the verge of doing just that after a 6-3 victory over the Astros yesterday. The question now is if they can close it out against a team with significantly more experience than Chicago.

Looking to give them that final game they need is Sean Burke. For the season, Burke went 11-7, posting a 3.34 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He also threw 185 strikeouts, and all of his numbers were first or better in the league. That means that he really should be considered an elite starter. Burke has been better on the road this season with a 2.58 ERA compared to a 3.86 home ERA. He faced Houston twice this season and allowed two earned runs over 11.2 innings of work.

The Houston Astros were average this season, finishing at 81-81, and as a reward for winning the American League West, they got to host a series. It is probably my least favorite thing about the playoffs in general. In the opening game, they sent eight different pitchers to the mound. They had to use two pitchers and 49 pitches just to get through the first inning. The Astros gave up five runs before they scored themselves in the bottom of the fifth. It should be interesting to see how they use the bullpen today with so many having to work yesterday.

That means the biggest role in this game falls on the Astros' Ace, Hunter Brown. For the season, Brown went 6-4 with a 3.19 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. He only pitched 107.1 innings this season, but he held hitters to a .208 batting average. At home, he was solid with a 3.27 ERA. He also turned in a great September, going 26.1 innings and allowing just eight earned runs. Brown did face the White Sox twice this season, and he allowed just two earned runs over 13 innings.

This game should be a bit more difficult for both teams given the quality of starters on the mound. The Astros have home-field advantage, and Brown has experience in big games. Burke doesn't, and that is a bit of a concern. However, the White Sox are playing better baseball, and the Astros really don't even deserve to be here. I think this game is likely to go under 7.5 runs, but I also think Chicago wins. I'll split a unit on the two plays.

WWE NXT star EK Prosper hits jaw-dropping move on Grayson Waller but fails to win championship

WWE NXT star EK Prosper went above and beyond to try to capture the NXT Championship from Grayson Waller as he answered the open challenge on Tuesday.

Prosper showed off his high-flying abilities during the match. He had Waller propped on the announce table and was looking to pull off something attention-worthy. He did that and then some.

Prosper bounced up to the middle rope, parallel to a sprawled out Waller, and backflipped onto his opponent. The crowd at the WWE Performance Center went wild.

But Waller would show why he’s the savvy veteran of the NXT roster and why he’s the champion. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, brushed himself off and got back in the ring.

Waller hit the Waller Effect and pinned Prosper to retain the title. Even as Prosper’s moment went viral across social media, all Waller could do was lock in and retain the title.

Waller has held the title for about a month since he won it in a fatal four-way match at Heatwave back in August. He outlasted Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana and Zilla Fatu in that match.

The Australian superstar was initially set to take on Mason Rook for the title. Rook said earlier Tuesday he wasn’t medically cleared for the match and took his name out of the hat.

Shawm Michaels, the senior vice president of talent development and creative for NXT, announced there would be an open challenge for the NXT Championship. In a video posted to social media, Michaels had initially hoped A.J. Styles or CM Punk would answer the call.

Regardless, it was Prosper who answered the challenge and put up a fight against Waller.

Lindsay Clancy holdout juror’s lawyers say they plan bar complaint against Reddington

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Two attorneys for the lone holdout juror in the mistrial of Massachusetts woman Lindsay Clancy in the strangling deaths of her three young children say they plan to file a bar complaint against the 36-year-old's defense lawyer over his treatment of their client.

"I can tell you, we're gonna file a bar complaint," attorney Tyler Cox told Fox News' Sean Hannity on his namesake show Tuesday evening.

Kevin Reddington, a veteran Massachusetts defense lawyer, said in court Tuesday that he was fed up with being accused of "persecuting" the holdout, who was the only man on the 12-person jury who wanted to find Clancy guilty.

"He said that all he's done is file a motion," Cox said. "Well, even if you take that as true, which it obviously isn't, the motion that he filed was unprecedented. You don't attack jurors this way, you don't single them out, and we're going to file a bar complaint."

Plymouth County prosecutors have separately asked the court for a gag order, accusing Reddington of helping expose the holdout's identity to the public, accusing him of robbing the other jurors of their time and of robbing Clancy of an acquittal.

Reddington has also taken to calling the holdout juror "the obstructionist" and spent the early part of the week trading barbs with another attorney for the juror, Edward Paltzik.

Clancy is due back in court on Nov. 2 for a motion hearing. Timing for a potential retrial remains unclear, and no date has been set after both sides told Judge William Sullivan they needed more time.

WNBA refs miss opportunity to eject A'ja Wilson over meltdown, entering stands

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson only received a technical foul on Tuesday night when she stepped across the baseline and went a few rows deep to address an Indiana Fever fan.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Aces’ Game 2 loss to the Fever at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Wilson drew a blocking foul after Sophie Cunningham stepped in front of her and fell to the court. Cunningham was upset with the call, meanwhile, Wilson was seen yelling and pointing at a fan a few rows from courtside.

The broadcast showed Wilson taking a few steps into the stands. Crew chief Randy Richardson was asked by a pool reporter about the incident.

"So, at that point, A’ja Wilson was assessed a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct," Richardson told the reporter when asked what happened with the incident.

When asked, "Why did A’ja Wilson receive a tech for her interaction with the fan on the baseline," Richardson responded, "For unsportsmanlike conduct."

Wilson finished the game, but it appeared the incident may have warranted an ejection.

The league considers the stands the first row of seats. Wilson didn’t climb over anyone to get to the fan she had an issue with, but, on the baseline, she didn’t need to.

"Any coach, player, or trainer who deliberately enters the spectator stands during the game will be automatically ejected and the incident reported via e-mail to the Commissioner," the rulebook states.

OutKick asked the WNBA and National Basketball Referees Association for comment on why Wilson’s action didn’t warrant an ejection. OutKick also asked the WNBA if it would review the incident further.

The Fever released a statement on the incident.

"Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses," the team said. "Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed."

Wilson addressed the confrontation after the game.

"If I see a man, come at me, taking steps toward me and point at me, I don’t give a damn what you said, I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable," she said. "You don’t step toward me and point at me. I’m not for that s--- at all.

"That’s unacceptable and how he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t know anything, of course he didn’t, and that’s fine. And I apologized to my team because I got us a tech and I didn’t … but there’s certain things I’m just not gonna allow anymore because it’s just unacceptable. You don’t know me at all to come and step toward me and point at me and say anything."

A fan sitting next to the man in question later told OutKick that the man only said the foul was on Wilson and pointed at her.

Tough season for WNBA refs

As the WNBA has grown more popular, the scrutiny over officiating in the league has come under the microscope and this season was no different.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said last summer the league was going to evolve terms of its officiating. The league formed an offseason officiating task force that included an effort to clean up some of the WNBA’s issues regarding physicality and officiating.

Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who blasted officials during last year’s WNBA Finals, said in the beginning of the 2026 season that coaches weren’t looking for referees to call marginal fouls.

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart and Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd also talked about the fouls. Stewart was annoyed that a game against the Washington Mystics earlier in the year took nearly three hours to complete. Fudd was dismayed about being unable to be physical with opponents.

Fever star Caitlin Clark went as far as to call for full-time WNBA referees as she racked up technical fouls this season that nearly cost her a game.

"It's kind of been a discussion for three years now, and I think we really need to do a better job protecting the people in this league," she said in July. "I've been involved in a few of those plays, but there's been plenty of others across the league that haven't been called. You go back postgame or whatever it is, teams submit clips and nothing changes. I think overall the league has to do better."

"Overall, the league just has to do better and we have to invest in those areas," she added. "The technology can get better. We can treat the referees a little bit better. Pay them like they're full-time employees."

DALLAS — A competitive Senate race is testing whether Texas is still safely red, with Black and Hispanic voters at the center of Democrat James Talarico's path to victory.

Talarico is seeking to become the first Democrat in more than 30 years to win a statewide race in the Lone Star State.

"I definitely do think, if there’s any time for Texas to get a Democrat elected, this is the time to strike," Mike, a military veteran from Dallas, told Fox News Digital. "I think it depends on whether the Black and Brown voters come out for Talarico."

"Everyone says, ‘Hey, we are Texas and we want change here, we want change there,’" Mike added. "Well, this is an opportunity for you guys to get change. Are you going to come out and show up at the polls? He’s got all the momentum in the world. He’s got everything going for him."

Mike’s comments reflect the challenge facing Talarico as he works to build support among Black and Hispanic voters and motivate them to turn out in November.

Texas has more Black eligible voters than any other state, with roughly 2.7 million. That puts voters in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and East Texas in a potentially decisive position in any Democrat’s bid to win statewide.

Former President Barack Obama’s appearance with Talarico at a May campaign stop in Austin underscored the stakes for Democrats to leverage a massive voting bloc in Texas. The party's effort to win over Black voters could help determine whether Texas remains reliably red or becomes more competitive for Democrats in future elections.

But Talarico faces an uphill battle in uniting Democrats behind his campaign after a divisive primary against Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas. Talarico defeated Crockett in the Democratic primary earlier this year, and the outgoing congresswoman has not endorsed his Senate campaign.

Crockett has said she supports the Democratic ticket in Texas, but her political action committee has not endorsed Talarico or campaigned for him.

Rashaun, of Forney, Texas, said the primary loss may have left some Black voters frustrated.

"Everyone was behind Jasmine," Rashaun said. "So that’s what’s blocking, I’m going to say for my people, that was blocking their minds."

Still, Rashaun said she plans to vote for Talarico and hopes Texas will turn blue in November.

"Yes, we are voting in November and it’s going to be Talarico," she said. "We need Texas to flip. We can wish and hope and pray. But we need to get out and vote."

Mike said the election may ultimately come down to whether voters are willing to act.

"Right now it is on the Texas voters to get out and support James Talarico or sit at home if you don’t want to see that change," he said.

Bryant, of Coppell, Texas, likewise pointed to frustration with Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton, both Republicans, as a potential motivator for people to support Talarico's candidacy.

"This is a critical election," Bryant said. "I think we all can feel it in Texas, the need to get Greg Abbott out."

"It’s time for a change," he added. "Plus, on the other side, you see how bad Ken Paxton is and his track record and just some of the things that he’s done. It’s no longer working and we need to do something different."

Ava, a college student from Denton, said Talarico’s outreach to younger voters has helped him connect with a generation that often feels overlooked.

"I do think he’s going to pull through," she said. "He engages with the younger community, which is important because we feel like we’re not represented."

She added that his social media presence has also helped younger voters connect with his campaign. She first learned about Talarico after meeting him at the Texas State Fair last year and later followed him online.

"I think he’s going to flip the state."

While Ava focused on Talarico’s appeal among younger voters, Kiara, of Dallas, said supporters must turn that enthusiasm into votes.

"I live in Texas, and I’ve been here for a really long time, and it’s time for a change, a positive change," she said. "And I think Talarico is definitely going to bring that."

"We just have to vote," Kiara added. "We can’t complain about the problems if you don’t want to vote to fix them."

A Florida mother is facing four felony charges after allegedly abandoning her four young children — including a 2-month-old infant — to take a three-day vacation on a cruise ship to the Bahamas.

Nathalie Belizaire, 29, was charged with four counts of child neglect after she boarded Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Conquest, leaving her children unattended in her North Miami Beach residence. Police said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers took her into custody Monday as she disembarked.

"You cannot make this up," Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer said in Tuesday court footage. "We are just grateful nothing worse happened to those kids.

The children were discovered by police Saturday, the day after the ship set sail. Bodycam footage showed four kids coming out of hiding in a bathroom – a 2-year-old toddler, a pre-teen and what appeared to be a teenage girl holding a newborn baby.

Lether Bazile, the father of the 2-month-old, told police that Belizaire claimed she was leaving the children with their great-grandmother, the New York Post reported.

The father was tipped off by the mother's absence by Belizaire’s WhatsApp story two days earlier that appeared to show a Carnival Cruise Line ticket, he told police.

When Bazile stopped by Belizaire's home, he saw the television glowing through the blinds and heard the children's voices inside.

He immediately called the police, who entered the home and found the four children hiding in a bathroom with no adult present.

According to authorities, the children's grandmother, Denise Wilkes, told officers that Belizaire had promised to drop the kids off but never showed up. Furthermore, Belizaire’s brother, Steven Borgella, informed police that his sister had texted him at 8 p.m. ET on the day the children were found, asking him to check in on them.

Belizaire was arrested Monday as she disembarked the vessel at the port in Miami. She declined to speak to officers.

During the Tuesday hearing, Belizaire’s defense attorney argued that her abandoning the children to go on vacation was "just an allegation at this time," noting that she denies the claims.

"At this time, it is only an allegation; she denies the allegation," the defense attorney said.

"Of course she does," Glazer said as the accused showed exasperation.

"They arrested her disembarking from the cruise ship!" the judge then shot back.

"I understand that, judge, I understand that," the attorney replied. "The question is who was the one responsible for the children at the time?"

Glazer thought for a second, before saying, "usually it's the mother, the person that gave birth to them."

"There are also others responsible, it's not just mothers," the defense attorney replied. "It's not just mothers that are in charge of children, judge. It's also fathers and grandparents and other people."

"See, the mothers always know who their children are," Glazer said. "Fathers may not know, but it looks like different fathers here. One of the fathers grew concerned and called the police."

Belizaire was given a stay away order until the Department of Children and Families can investigate. She faces four felony counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Bond was set at $10,000, $2,500 per child.

This recent arrest is not Belizaire's first run-in with the law. She previously faced aggravated battery charges in January 2025 after allegedly pepper-spraying a neighbor in the face during a dispute regarding her daughter, the Post reported.

Ole Miss students' toxicology reports completed, official says

The toxicology reports for two Ole Miss students who died on Sept. 21 has been completed, an official tells Fox News Digital.

Ole Miss students Aidan Hamilton, 18, and Robert Strang, 20, were found dead on Sept. 21, both with similar packages of kratom or synthetic kratom found to be in their possession, according to the court documents. Officials detailed that Hamilton "could have died due to a Pulmonary Edema," which would be consistent with a drug overdose. Strang was found "cold to the touch" when first responders arrived at his house near campus.

Alex Gibert, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, told Fox News Digital that the toxicology report for Strang and Hamilton has been completed. The findings will be handed over to the Lafayette County coroner and shared with the families.

The news comes as the American Kratom Association is set to host a news conference on Wednesday, criticizing the "delay in publicly identifying the specific products purchased by two Ole Miss students before their deaths."

The group says these tablets "are not natural kratom leaf and that students should have been specifically warned about these products under investigation."

Hamilton made several purchases in September at Puffs Vape, Tobacco and Beer Store in Oxford, where workers Yahya Mohamed Mosleh, 51, and Islam Mohamed, 18, were arrested and face a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Officials did not say in the court documents that the kratom found near him when he died came from that store. One of the purchases was made one day before Hamilton was found dead.

One hour after finding Hamilton dead, police were dispatched to a house near campus and found Strang dead. A package of the "Smax, Pseudo-DHM" tablets was found on his nightstand, along with 20 to 30 nitrous oxide cans, known as "whippets," which Strang's roommates said he used daily. Strang's roommates told officers that he was watching football and took a Xanax bar the day before being found dead.

Astros players call out fans for booing during Game 1 loss to White Sox: 'Extremely frustrating'

The Houston Astros head into Wednesday with their season on the line after losing Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series to the Chicago White Sox, but it’s not their opponent they were mad about.

It was their own fan base.

The Astros, who came into this MLB postseason as baseball’s first-ever division winner with a .500 or worse record, entered Daikin Park in Houston to see a pretty empty stadium in comparison to past playoff matchups.

It was quite noticeable, especially in the upper deck, that there were loads of empty seats. Daikin Park eventually announced an attendance of 34,011, with the ballpark holding a capacity of 40,963.

Could it have been the 4:10 p.m. local-time first pitch on a Tuesday? That could certainly be a factor, as MLB spaces these Wild Card Series games out for national viewing purposes despite odd weekday times that cut into a usual workday.

Either way, Astros players were not happy when they started hearing boos rain down onto the field as the White Sox took an early lead on the road.

"It’s extremely frustrating as a home player," Astros first baseman Christian Walker admitted to The Athletic about hearing jeers from the home crowd. "We’re here, playing at home; we need cheers. We need energy. We don’t need boos. What purpose does that serve in that moment? Whatever fans are feeling, we’re feeling it tenfold. We’re the ones out there. We’re the ones in the fight. We worked our butts off this whole season to put ourselves in this spot, and for guys to get booed, it’s frustrating."

Chicago ended up taking Game 1, 6-3, in a contest that saw both teams put together a bullpen game, which favored the White Sox in the end.

One of those relievers for the Astros was Bennett Sousa, who heard boos from the crowd in the top of the seventh inning when he spiked two breaking balls.

"This team has laid a lot on the line to be in this position to give the fans a playoff game – a playoff series. We want their support," Sousa added, via the outlet.

It may not have been the best year for the Astros, but in an odd AL West division, their 81-81 record was enough to take the crown. It marked the ninth time in the last 10 years Houston has made it to the playoffs, and in that span, they’ve reached the World Series four times, winning in a controversial 2017 season due to their uncovering sign-stealing scandal, and in 2022.

The Astros were 14th this season in attendance at Daikin Park, averaging just over 30,000 fans per game.

Phillies face elimination as Cristopher Sanchez takes the mound against Braves in Game 2

It was an exciting opening day of baseball, with the Wild Card round seeing three of four home teams win Game 1. Statistics show that Game 1 is essential to winning the series, as Game 1 winners are 15-1 in the series since this format started. Today, losing teams look to extend the series to give themselves a chance. Winning teams look to close it out. One of the best games on the slate is between the Phillies and Braves.

The Philadelphia Phillies come into this game needing a win in order to extend their season. This isn't unlike what happened to them in the last game of the season. With their backs against the wall, Philadelphia had to dig deep and get a win to avoid a historic collapse. They did it, and now they need to find a way to win on the road against a Braves team that kept ripping their hearts out yesterday. If the Phillies want to take anything from yesterday's game, it should be that they were in it the entire time, and a couple of different pitches would've given them the win.

If they want to have optimism for today and the series in general, it should be due to their pitching staff. Cristopher Sanchez takes the ball today, and he is one of the best starters in the game. For the year, Sanchez turned in an 18-7 record with a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 231 strikeouts. If you want a bit of reason to be concerned, it is due to Sanchez's road numbers. He threw 14 starts on the road this season and allowed 37 earned runs over 86 innings. He also had one of his worst months of the season in September. He allowed 18 earned runs in 31.2 innings this month. He did not face Atlanta on the road this season, but allowed three earned runs over 12 innings of work at home.

PHILLIES AVOID COLLAPSE, ASTROS SNEAK IN AS MLB POSTSEASON IS SET

The Atlanta Braves are in the driver's seat after winning Game 1. If you didn't watch the game, it is worth giving a brief recap. They had their best starter on the mound, Chris Sale. He pitched well, but did start the game by allowing a run in the first inning. The Braves manufactured a run in the second to tie it. The Braves grabbed the lead in the sixth inning with an RBI triple. The Phillies then took the lead in the top of the seventh. Philadelphia turned to their closer to try to close out the final few innings. It didn't work, as Austin Riley hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to give the Braves a win.

Now the Braves have two shots to win the series, but they need to do it against the two best pitchers from Philadelphia. The Braves really don't have an answer for the Philadelphia starters, but they turn to Tyler Mahle to give it a go. Mahle is 7-10 with a 3.99 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He has been much better at home than on the road this season. In home outings he has a 2.74 ERA compared to a 5.28 ERA on the road. He has also been dialed in over the past few months, allowing 24 earned runs over his past 82.1 innings. Philadelphia has struggled against him this year, with just six earned runs over 23.2 innings spanning four starts.

The line is telling us that this game should go to the Phillies, but I'm not sure it is worth backing them. Sanchez might need to throw a complete game because the Philadelphia bullpen was taxed yesterday. This is normal rest for Sanchez, but he has already thrown more innings than he has ever thrown in his career, and he hasn't looked great lately. The Braves have the momentum as well. I'll take a shot on Atlanta on the moneyline.

"When Eli and I went in for our 20-week anatomy scan, excited to see our sweet baby boy, our hearts were forever changed," Anna wrote on her Instagram account. "Our little one was diagnosed with anencephaly, a fatal condition in which he would not survive outside the womb.

"While we are absolutely devastated that we were unable to bring our baby boy home, I am grateful to have loved him deeply, kept him safe, and had been his home for the past 9 months before he was called back to Heaven."

What comes next is a mother who, rather than getting lost in the unspeakable pain of losing a baby, chose to lean into her faith during a time of deep tribulation.

"I have often found it easy to glorify the Lord when life is going well, but it is in our deepest trials that we are drawn closest to Him," Anna continued. "We may never understand the why behind this journey, but one thing we know with certainty is that God promises to care for His children.

"I believe our little boy was lovingly knitted together in the womb by God, knowing how deeply he would be loved by our families, our friends, Eli, and me. Though his time with us was brief, his life still precious, his purpose still meaningful, and he will forever be a part of our story."

And then the Raridons left a message for their baby boy:

"I have loved you every second of your life and will miss you every second of mine. What a sweet sweet reunion ours will be🤍"

The CDC Data and Statistics on Birth Defects reports that about 1 in every 4,762 is born with anencephaly. That is roughly .02% of live births.

But while the defect is not necessarily common it is quite personal. Literature states that the recurrence rate after one pregnancy is affected by anencephaly jumps dramatically to between 2%-5%.

USMNT gets into bench-clearing brawl after Chilean player kicks at goalkeeper in closing seconds of friendly

International friendlies in late September nearly four full years out from the next World Cup typically leave a lot to be desired, but that was not the case on Tuesday with the U.S. men's national team playing host to Chile in St. Louis.

The match entered the break knotted at 1-1 before the two sides traded goals just six minutes into the second half. The USMNT was able to break the tie courtesy of a Chris Richards goal in the 72nd minute before 17-year-old Mathis Albert added some cushion with a tally in the 93rd minute to secure a 4-2 victory.

While it seemed likely that Albert's goal in stoppage time would be the final noteworthy moment of the match, that was very much not the case.

Nearly a full minute beyond the five minutes of allotted stoppage time had come off the clock; USMNT goalkeeper Brian Schwake fell on a loose ball, looking to milk the final seconds of the contest.

Chilean forward Leandro Hernandez continued his jog towards Schwake and appeared to take a small kick at the ball. Richards saw Hernandez's kick at the ball, took exception, and within seconds every player on the field was pushing and shoving.

The benches cleared with personnel from both teams sprinting onto the pitch, and that included USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who was caught right in the middle of the altercation.

"It’s a crazy situation," Pochettino said after the final whistle. "You try to divide the players and calm down. Sometimes, when you are winning you have to understand the opponent may go to the line and walk over the line in frustration."

USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams was the most animated of the bunch as cameras caught him pointing towards Chilean players shouting at them while being held back by teammates.

Flydubai passenger says co-pilot stabbed captain before terrifying plunge, emergency landing

A Flydubai passenger said the co-pilot apparently stabbed the captain during a cockpit altercation before the Israel-bound jet plunged thousands of feet, triggering a terrifying scene aboard the aircraft and an emergency diversion to Saudi Arabia Wednesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later said one of the pilots stabbed the other and apparently attempted to crash the aircraft, which was carrying mostly Israeli passengers. Netanyahu said a passenger and crew member managed to enter the cockpit and overpower the alleged attacker as he tried to sabotage the aircraft's systems, allowing another crew member to stabilize the plane.

"I salute the heroes who showed extraordinary bravery and, according to the passenger's account, saved many lives," Netanyahu said, according to an unofficial translation of his remarks. He added that the pilot accused of carrying out the stabbing was arrested and was being investigated by Saudi authorities.

The passenger told Fox News that accounts of what happened remained conflicting, but said passengers understood that the co-pilot had stabbed the captain and then collapsed onto the controls.

"There are many different accounts, but apparently the co-pilot stabbed the captain and collapsed onto the controls, shutting down the entire instrument panel. We began plunging downward for several minutes. Everyone on the plane was screaming, the overhead compartments opened, and the power went out. We were sure we were going to die. It was very scary," the passenger said.

Flydubai later confirmed that an "altercation occurred in the flight deck," saying on-duty Flydubai crew traveling aboard the flight secured the aircraft, diverted it and landed safely in Tabuk. The airline did not confirm the reported stabbing and said the underlying reasons and motives remained under formal investigation.

MIDAIR SCARE FORCES PACKED PASSENGER JET INTO EMERGENCY LANDING, TRAVELERS HOSPITALIZED

Saudi Arabia's Tabuk airport said both pilots were hospitalized after suffering injuries, according to Reuters. An investigation into the incident remains underway.

The Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and everyone aboard was reported safe, according to officials.

A regional official briefed on the incident said an altercation broke out in the cockpit and apparently involved the pilots, though it was not immediately clear what sparked the confrontation. Israeli media, citing security officials, also reported that a dispute between the two pilots was behind the emergency.

"The crew have been questioned as part of the investigation," the regional official said, according to The Associated Press, without saying whether anyone had been detained.

The incident prompted an immediate security response in Israel, where authorities initially feared the plane — carrying more than 100 Israeli passengers, according to The Jerusalem Post — could have been hijacked. Israel scrambled fighter jets as the situation unfolded.

AMERICANS WARNED AGAINST TRAVEL PLANS AS TERRORISM THREATENS POPULAR DESTINATION

Two Israeli officials told Reuters that Israel's assessment was that the incident may have been an attempted "terror attack." The Jerusalem Post separately reported that the growing assessment among Israel's security establishment, including the IDF, Mossad and Shin Bet, was that the incident was intended as an act of terror.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz went further, calling the incident an "attempted jihadist terrorist attack" that was thwarted by Israeli passengers who entered the cockpit and overpowered the alleged attacker.

"According to the preliminary information available to us, the terrorist had one intention: to crash the aircraft with everyone on board," Katz said.

The aircraft transmitted an emergency alert during the flight, according to publicly available flight-tracking information. Flight FZ1073 had departed Dubai and was headed for Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv before diverting to Tabuk.

Flightradar24 data showed the aircraft suddenly plunging nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds before the first emergency signal, according to Reuters.

"The flight from Dubai was a very calm one for the first two hours. And when we were at the Jordanian border, suddenly the aircraft dropped, like a massive drop, like a massive turbulence for 20-30 seconds. Then balanced, and then once again dropped for 10 seconds and balanced again," passenger Almog Italie said in a video obtained by Reuters. "And then we saw that in the front of the aircraft there was a riot. Many people rushed over there. Apparently, one pilot stabbed the other."

Capt. Meidan Barr, former chairman of the Israel Airline Pilot Association, told Fox News Channel that such a rapid loss of altitude would ordinarily resemble an emergency descent, such as one performed following a loss of cabin pressure.

"Losing like 15,000 feet in two or three minutes, that is something that you do in, like, an emergency descent when you lose pressure," Barr said, adding that the aircraft's safe landing was significant and would allow investigators to determine what went wrong.

Flight-tracking data also showed the aircraft transmitting emergency transponder code 7700 before briefly switching to 7500, a code used to signal unlawful interference with an aircraft, and later returning to 7700.

Passengers described a tense scene aboard the aircraft as the emergency unfolded. Travelers told Israel's Channel 12 by phone that they heard shouting from passengers near the front of the plane who had apparently heard the cockpit altercation. They also said the aircraft dipped steeply before landing in Saudi Arabia.

The account provided directly to Fox News offered a more harrowing description of the sudden descent, with the passenger saying people screamed as overhead compartments opened and power aboard the aircraft went out.

Yasmin Abukasis, whose daughter was aboard the flight, told Fox News at Ben Gurion International Airport that her daughter described passengers rushing to intervene during the cockpit confrontation.

Abukasis said her daughter told her that a man had a knife and that passengers grabbed his hand and forced him to the floor amid significant bleeding. She also said two other pilots subsequently took control of the aircraft.

After landing, passengers remained aboard the plane as a heavy Saudi security presence surrounded the aircraft, according to their accounts to the Israeli outlet.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office later said the situation was under control and that Israeli authorities were working to bring the passengers home. The scare came as Netanyahu has warned in recent days about unspecified heightened security threats facing Israel.

Netanyahu convened security consultations over the incident and cleared the remainder of his schedule to manage the crisis, according to Reuters. The Jerusalem Post reported that Israeli airspace was temporarily closed before reopening after the aircraft landed in Saudi Arabia.

Flydubai said it deployed two replacement aircraft to Tabuk to relieve the passengers and crew and that the incident had no impact on its other scheduled operations.

"At this early stage, the underlying reasons and motives behind this event are unknown and remain subject to a formal investigation," a Flydubai spokesperson said. "We urge all parties to refrain from premature speculation while authorities gather the facts."

The exact circumstances surrounding the reported cockpit confrontation remained unclear Wednesday.

While disputes between pilots serious enough to affect a flight are rare, similar incidents have occurred. Two Air France pilots were suspended in 2022 after fighting in the cockpit during a flight from Geneva to Paris. That aircraft did not divert and landed as scheduled.

The initial hijacking fears carried particular weight in Israel, where aviation security has long been shaped by a history of attacks on Israeli travelers and aircraft. Palestinian militants carried out a series of hijackings and attacks involving Israelis during the 1960s and 1970s. Israel has not experienced an aircraft hijacking in decades and maintains stringent security procedures for Israel-bound flights.

Cook, 54, exclusively told Fox News Digital that the betrayal not only devastated him financially, but also impacted his mental health as he attempted to reconcile his brother's actions while finally speaking out in the new documentary, "Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story."

Cook noted that the health and wellness aspect of his entire career was "trying to regulate that and share not only through my comedy, but the back channels of MySpace or the communication of like, 'I'm just like you, but I just did it.'"

"That's happening back channel," he said. "Publicly, I'm the bell of the ball, all the cool stuff that's happening there, but he knew, only he knew that I'd come home every day after school with panic attacks and dreading the next day having to go to school because I was just so scared of people."

He added, "I was so scared to be around other kids."

McCauley pleaded guilty in 2010 to multiple counts of larceny, forgery and embezzlement, while his wife, Erika McCauley, also pleaded guilty to larceny charges. In addition, they were both ordered to pay restitution, a fee which Cook waved against Erika for her participation in the documentary.

"It's like, the money can come and go, and fame can come and go, and that's life. There's so many things that are out of your control," he said. "But that part that he knew about of me was, like man, he let that happen to me."

While Cook resented his brother's action, the comedian also warned that he's "the son of a different dad" as McCauley was his older half-brother.

"I'm the son of George Cook, and he forgot that I am my father's son," Cook declared. "We are conditioned, I think, the DNA of the Cook family is like, we put wins in the win column, and we take our losses and we reconfigure."

He added, "I think part of him probably sitting in that courtroom when I read that impact letter was going like, 'Damn, I think he's going to come back stronger from this,' but neither of us knew when at that time, or if."

Democrats split on AOC as some battleground candidates distance themselves from 'Squad' lawmaker

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is fast becoming a central figurehead in the 2026 midterm election cycle, and a polarizing one at that.

Some moderate candidates are shunning the progressive rising star's endorsement, Axios reported this week, while others in tight races are welcoming her with open arms.

Several Democratic strategists who spoke with Fox News Digital said they were not shocked that some on the left are keeping her at arm's length.

"It wasn't especially surprising, like, her numbers with independent voters aren't always great, and it's very circumstantial depending upon where you would want to deploy somebody with that type of background and somebody who, you know, a lot of Americans have an impression of already — sometimes positive, sometimes negative," Mike Nellis, a former political advisor for former Vice President Kamala Harris, told Fox News Digital. "I always just encourage people, like, you do what you gotta do, cause it's hard to play coalition politics."

And there are at least two candidates who appear to think the original "Squad" member is more of a liability.

Cait Conley, who is running to unseat Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., in a district near Ocasio-Cortez's, told CNN's "State of the Union," "I'm good" when asked if she would campaign with Democratic socialists like her or New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Conley's campaign did not return a request for comment by Fox News Digital by publication time.

And Sam Forstag in Montana reportedly removed all mention of Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement from his campaign website. He told Axios, "I don't intend to be having a lot of folks from out of state campaigning with me over these next 40 days."

Forstag's campaign did not return multiple emailed requests for comment by Fox News Digital.

"In the final days leading up to an election, you want to make your message specific and local and repeatable and national celebrities just don’t help with that," a veteran Democratic strategist who works on House and Senate campaigns told Fox News Digital.

The strategist, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, said "AOC is more of a celebrity" than most of the other potential 2028 Democratic presidential contenders. "I think AOC is one of the few Democrats who has transcended to just culture generally, which makes her visits heavier in the discourse."

And that celebrity status is being used in other key races. Ocasio-Cortez joined forces with fellow progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders to headline a trio of rallies for left-wing candidate Abdul El-Sayed in July, a couple of weeks before the Democratic Senate primary in the key battleground state of Michigan.

El-Sayed ended up narrowly edging more moderate Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., in a nomination battle that highlighted the ongoing battle between the left and the center for the ideological future of the Democratic Party.

While Ocasio-Cortez has yet to return to Michigan since the early August primary, El-Sayed’s campaign says they’d welcome her return to the campaign trail.

"There are a lot of Michiganders who can't wait to have AOC back in town," El-Sayed campaign communications director Roxie Richner told Fox News Digital.

El-Sayed and former House Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., are facing off in the race to succeed Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich. The midterm showdown is a must-hold for the Democrats as they try to win back the Senate majority from the Republicans.

Ocasio-Cortez also appeared in Florida recently alongside far-left Senate candidate Angie Nixon, who is running an underdog campaign against Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla.

A Democratic victory there is a long shot, but Ocasio-Cortez's campaign trail travels come as speculation mounts about her own future political plans.

The Democratic socialist is widely seen as a potential successor to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., when he is through in the upper chamber. But there's also buzz about a potential 2028 presidential campaign — something Ocasio-Cortez has not confirmed nor denied.

"I think she's a unique political talent. She's clearly got, like, a large group of people in the country who would get behind her, and those are the beginnings of what you need to build an operation to run for president. So I think she'd be stupid not to think about it," Nellis said. "At the same time, you know, do you take a 5% chance of being the Democratic nominee... or do you take like a much better than 50-50 chance of being the next United States senator from New York? If it were me advising her, I'd probably tell her to run for Senate."

Well, viewers finally starting to get an idea of when "The Madison" will return for season two, and it won't be in 2026.

"I got cast in the show back in 2024, and our first season came out in 2026, and then season two is going to come out top of 2027. And we’ll be back shooting season three for top of 2027 as well, so stay tuned," actress Danielle Vasinova, who plays Kestrel Harris on the series, told US Weekly.

Actor Kevin Zegers further told the outlet, "It was mostly nice to shoot a second season before anyone had seen the first season, just because I think sometimes the show comes out and the vibes change on set because everyone’s kind of like the thing you’re making has been consumed. So, having made the second now, we’re going back to make the third at the beginning of next year."

Now, fans know season two will arrive at some point in 2027 – likely early in the year – and production on season three will begin roughly the same time.

That means fans are looking at a late 2027 or early 2028 release for the third season of the hit show with Russell and Pfeiffer.

Will there be a fourth season? Time will tell, but given the early success of "The Madison" and Sheridan's habit of stacking success on top of success, I wouldn't rule anything out.

Welcome to the final Wednesday Screencaps of September and sorta my final Screencaps of the week as I prepare to head out of here for a couple of days to get in one last mini golf trip with friends before winter sets in.

It's a bittersweet moment this time of the year. On one hand, it's nice to get out on the open road to see what the golf gods have in store for us. On the other hand, I know that once this 48-hour rendezvous is over, it's time to prepare for hunkering down. Sure, there will be random Sundays where it's 74 in November and I get out, but there's something about that energy that runs through the body over a golf trip.

This one will be interesting. It was supposed to be back in northern Michigan, but the weather is going to be tricky up there. With rain in the forecast, my buddy Diesel says we have to go south or east. I'm leaving this up to him.

My biggest takeaway from Danica's trip content is that it must be nice to have New Zealand golf trip money. According to Gemini, a mid-range golf trip half-way around the world to New Zealand would cost somewhere around $4,000-$5,500. That would include 5-6 rounds and an Airbnb.

Wait, that's it? Gemini says rounds at "regional elite" courses run between $150 and $250, which isn't exactly outlandish these days. As for Te Arai Links where Danica's group played, that will cost you around $600 a round, but this time of year, Gemini reports greens fees are around $430 BEFORE you pay for the caddie, which will cost you $140, plus a tip and if you're using a forecaddie, that's another $140 for the group, PLUS a tip.

Let's face it, guys, we'd have to budget $10k for a trip like this. I'm not buying Gemini's estimations. After figuring in golf bets, booze, Ubers closer to the entertainment districts, the AI bot is now up to $7k-$10k just like I thought.

USC radio announcer's description of the Dante Moore hit is one of the most embarrassing things ever

The only thing more shocking than the hit from USC linebacker Desman Stephens on Oregon QB Dante Moore last Saturday was radio announcer Pete Arbogast's description of it.

I know home team radio guys are known to be homers, and that's fine. I get it. That's expected. But this might just take the cake.

For those who missed it, Stephens hit a sliding Moore in the helmet during the second quarter, knocking Moore out of the game and sending the star quarterback to the hospital down the street on a stretcher. The hit was brutal. Stephens' reaction to the play, while Moore was lying lifeless on the turf, was even more brutal.

DAN LANNING BLASTS USC AFTER OREGON'S WIN, AS LINCOLN RILEY OFFICIALLY ENTERS HOT SEAT IN LA

Oregon coach Dan Lanning called the entire sequence "disgusting," which was a fair description. Moore was suspended for one game, and both he and Trojans coach Lincoln Riley issued apologies after the game.

Moore is fine, but obviously in concussion protocol and out indefinitely.

OK, we all caught up now? Good. Let's now leave the field and head up the USC broadcast booth, where Arbogast delivered the following description of the hit in real-time to his listening audience:

"He did not try to slide feet first. Stephens went in helmet-first, but he kind of ran into Dante Moore, who ducked into that hit. I did not see him put his feet out first. I saw him dive forward."

Amazing. What a sequence. What analysis. I've never seen anything like it. Just stunning.

Even when the rest of the crew told Arbogast that Moore did, indeed, slide feet first, he offered this bit of incredible spin.

"Well he is now because they spun him around," he said before looking at the replay and coming to his final conclusion. "Well, he goes into, not a feet-first slide, more of a knee-slide. It didn't look like targeting on the replay to us."

The look to the camera from color analyst Shaun Cody immediately after that analysis was just perfect. He's just as stunned as we are listening to it. Cody, by the way, is a former USC All-American. If he's telling you it's a dirty hit ... it's a dirty hit, Pete.

Just incredible commentary here from USC's longtime play-by-plan man. I can't believe this isn't AI. Seriously, I'm stunned this is real.
