Silicon Valley developer accused of murder after investigators say Tesla reached 142 mph before fatal crash

A Silicon Valley software developer and startup founder has been charged with murder after prosecutors say he drove his Tesla at more than 140 mph before plowing into stopped traffic on a California highway, triggering a fiery crash that killed a mother and her young daughter.

Zachary Chernicky, 31, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the Dec. 2, 2025, crash in San Jose, California.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office alleges data recovered during the investigation shows Chernicky was driving 142 mph 15 seconds before impact, 126 mph five seconds before impact and still moving at about 102 mph when his Tesla slammed into a Lexus stopped in traffic.

Chernicky was arraigned Tuesday, ordered held without bail and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 25.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the July 13 arrest followed a "comprehensive investigation" conducted in coordination with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, adding that it hopes the arrest "represents an important step toward the justice the victims' family deserves as they continue to grieve."

"The law says that it is murder when someone shoots into a crowd," Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement. "When someone is driving 140 mph, then the driver is the shooter and their car is the bullet."

The Lexus burst into flames after being struck, killing front-seat passenger Ivana Balistreri, 29, and her 1-year-old daughter, Lilliana. KTVU in San Francisco reported that Lilliana was strapped into a child safety seat behind Balistreri. Lilliana died just two weeks before her second birthday.

Authorities said Balistreri's fiancé, who was driving the Lexus, survived the crash.

CHP said Chernicky's Tesla also struck another Tesla and a Toyota. Three of the vehicles caught fire.

Prosecutors emphasized that the criminal case centers on Chernicky's alleged speed — not the vehicle he was driving.

"I've seen some coverage of this incident that says things like, 'Tesla crash kills a family,' but that headline misses the point," Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Marisa McKeown said in remarks reported by KTVU. "The Tesla didn't cause this crash. Chernicky did by driving over 140 miles per hour."

A publicly available professional profile identifies Chernicky as the founder of CHURRDJ, a San Jose startup developing software for Pioneer DJ equipment. The profile states he previously worked in technical support roles at Apple, Gong, Glean and AI company Mistral AI.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Apple, Gong, Glean and Mistral AI to verify Chernicky's employment history and request comment, and to the Santa Clara County Public Defender's office.

CHP also used the case to warn motorists about the dangers of excessive speed.

"Do not speed. Speeding costs lives," the agency said. "CHP will hold reckless drivers accountable."

Believe it or not, we are only two months away from the WNBA Playoffs. There is a lot of stuff still to come with the season, but when your season is only 44 games, it tends to go by fairly quickly. This has been an interesting campaign. With two new teams in the league, a big turnaround from the Wings, and somewhat of a falloff from the Aces and Liberty, there might be some new excitement in the postseason. Before we get there, let's talk about the Sun and the league's most popular team, the Fever.

The Connecticut Sun are 7-19 for the season and have won just three games on the road. I believe this will be the last season for the Sun in Connecticut, and this will be one that everyone forgets. The Sun started the year with just two wins in 15 games, but have gone 5-4 over the past nine games, so at least the Sun are showing a bit of progress. The biggest problem for this team seems to be that it can't find anyone to get a bucket when absolutely needed.

The team is led by Brittney Griner, but she is scoring just 14.1 points in 25.8 minutes. This is her second-lowest total point production since her rookie season. Last year was her worst, posting just 9.8 points per game. Perhaps it is because she is 35 years old and slowing down, but she is no longer the force she once was. The bigger issue for the team is that it is just a hodgepodge of players - some are castoffs from other teams, others are free agents that have been pieced together. However, the pieces really don't fit well.

The Indiana Fever have a better record than the Sun, but that's not much of a challenge. I think one of the things to remember about the Fever is that they get the best effort from every team they face, every night. The WNBA players don't really like Caitlin Clark (at least that's how it seems), and the effort level is clearly different in games with her involved. The Fever are 10-5 at home this year, and have won seven of their past ten games overall. One other thing to remember about the Fever is that the beginning of this season was a major adjustment.

Clark was out almost all of last season, and her coming into the fold once again, even after a really successful run in the playoffs last year without her, meant the team had to learn new roles. She is ball-dominant and a great passer, so the team had to change its offense a bit. The Fever do seem to be getting back to what they were best at last season, when they looked to get Kelsey Mitchell buckets. She has led them in scoring in eight of the past nine games. Perhaps it is a balance between last year's success and this year's adjustments.

The Sun are not a team that you'd expect to score a ton of points - averaging only about 80 points per game. However, the Fever are not a very good defensive team, and again, you get a big effort every time from the opposition. I feel like the total can go either way, I don't know that the Sun can stop the Fever, but I don't think the Fever have much interest in playing defense, either.

The Sun will have a long stretch off after this game, but will still be on the road. I like the Fever early in this one as I'm not sure they will blow out the Sun late. Connecticut has kept games close on the road lately. Give me the Fever 1st quarter at -2.5. I think this is where they will have the biggest advantage of being familiar for shooting.

Mace snubs Trump's preferred Senate candidate, backs Ralph Norman instead

FIRST ON FOX: A key South Carolina Republican is breaking from President Donald Trump in the race to replace the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is planning to endorse her colleague and former foe in the race to be South Carolina’s governor, Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., in what is shaping up to be a messy snap election in the Palmetto State.

"This is it. A once-in-a-generation opportunity to send a tried-and-true conservative warrior to the United States Senate," Mace said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "Ralph Norman doesn't bend, doesn't break, and doesn't back down."

"He's fought the swamp, fought reckless spending, and fought for South Carolina at every turn," she continued. "If you want a proven conservative with a 100% conservative voting record, Ralph Norman is the man. I'm all in, and South Carolina should be too."

Her endorsement comes after she announced her decision not to run, and will come as the weeklong filing period for the special election, which is scheduled for Aug. 11, opens up. Mace isn’t the only lawmaker backing Norman’s candidacy, which he announced over the weekend after asking Trump for his endorsement.

Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, have also thrown their endorsement power behind him, noting their shared commitment to passing the SAVE America Act as a key factor in their support.

Norman said in a statement to Fox News Digital that he was "honored," to score Mace’s endorsement in the race.

"Now more than ever, South Carolina needs a PROVEN conservative fighter who will stand with President Trump, advance the America First agenda, and help pass the SAVE America Act in the U.S. Senate," Norman said.

Meanwhile, Graham, who was considered to be a placeholder for the remainder of her late brother’s term, is all-in on running for a full, six-year stint in the Senate.

Trump, after meeting with her in the White House last week, threw his full support behind her, and urged, "run, Darline, run," in a Truth Social post shortly after their meeting.

Graham has so far scored endorsements from key allies in the Senate, including Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who said, "Darline Graham is an excellent senator — she’ll continue to be an excellent senator, and she has my full support."

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., however, is staying out of the race for now.

Thune said that Graham is a "strong candidate," and though she lacked elected experience, he noted she was "very accomplished in her own life."

"She has a right, like everybody else, to get in that race," Thune said.

Meanwhile, another South Carolina Republican, Rep. Russell Fry, is also launching a campaign.

Both Mace and Norman went after Fry on Monday, warning that his bid for the Senate could further shrink House Republicans’ razor-thin majority and tip the balance of power in favor of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and Democrats.

Fry can appear for multiple offices on the ballot under South Carolina law, He was unopposed for his primary election for South Carolina’s 7th congressional district, and if he wins the nomination, he’ll be on the ballot twice for both.

Ultimately, he’ll have to choose if he wins both, which would trigger another special election to fill his place. That is not a problem for either Mace or Norman, who both ran and failed to clinch the Republican gubernatorial nomination last month.

"If you're running for two offices at once, you've already told us who you are," she continued. "That's not about politics anymore — that's about power. You're either with the people you serve or you're not."

Biden’s fight to keep Hur interview tapes under wraps suffers fresh court blow

Former President Joe Biden’s emergency request to block the release of audio recordings and transcripts of his interviews with a memoir ghostwriter — materials obtained during special counsel Robert Hur’s classified-documents investigation — was rejected by a federal appeals court Monday.

"We conclude that any remaining incursion on personal privacy from disclosure of the now-redacted materials likely does not outweigh the public interest in disclosure," a divided three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit wrote in its ruling.

The court kept an existing temporary block on disclosure in place through Aug. 3, allowing Biden time to seek further review.

The Justice Department obtained recordings of Biden's 2016 and 2017 conversations with Mark Zwonitzer, his ghostwriter for the memoir "Promise Me, Dad," and Hur’s team prepared transcripts during its investigation into Biden’s handling of classified information.

Hur investigated Biden’s handling of classified documents dating from his time as vice president in the Obama administration and as a U.S. senator from Delaware. He declined to pursue criminal charges because he concluded prosecutors could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Biden willfully retained or disclosed the material, and said Biden could appear to a jury as a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

The plaintiff, conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, has fought for over two years to retrieve the materials through FOIA requests, arguing the public has an interest in reviewing the recordings and transcripts that Hur based his decision on.

Biden’s attorneys have argued the conversations during the memoir interviews were personal and intended to remain private.

His team has been fighting to keep the recordings under wraps and has noted Biden is now a private citizen not seeking public office.

Dissenting Judge Florence Pan, a Biden nominee, wrote that Biden "has shown a substantial privacy interest" in the conversations, The Associated Press reported.

Hur's report repeatedly referenced Biden's recorded conversations with Zwonitzer and described some exchanges as "painfully slow."

He said Biden at times struggled to recall events and relay information, observations that fueled scrutiny of Biden's cognitive abilities during an election year.

The Justice Department reversed its earlier position in February and said it intended to disclose redacted versions of the recordings and transcripts to the plaintiffs and the House Judiciary Committee.

Biden filed a lawsuit to stop the disclosure and claimed private conversations should remain protected under the Privacy Act.

The Boston Red Sox were headed for the American League basement, seemingly destined to be sellers at the trade deadline. Experts were already including starter Sonny Gray and relief ace Aroldis Chapman in mock trade proposals.

Then they won 14 games in a row. They went from 37-48 to 51-48, and now hold sole possession of third Wild Card spot in the American League.

It’s hard to imagine these Red Sox capturing the hearts of Boston fans after headlines like these were being written in April: "The Boston Red Sox Are A Pathetic, Disgusting, Disgraceful Baseball Team."

But here they are, just one more victory away from tying the team’s longest winning streak in franchise history, at 15 games, which was set in 1946 with Ted Williams leading the charge. The Red Sox are trying to not think about what’s at stake.

"I’m trying not to, but I want it," third baseman Caleb Durbin said about the possibility of tying the club record. "I can’t speak for anyone else. We really haven’t talked about it, but I want to make history here."

"It would mean a lot, for sure," first baseman Willson Contreras said. "We are trying to play the same way every day. … If it happens, that would be great for us. We can celebrate that. If it doesn’t happen, you have to keep going."

Durbin and Contreras both played major roles in the team’s come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night at Fenway Park.

With the Red Sox trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning with a man on second base, Contreras pummeled Orioles starter Shane Baz’s 86-mph knuckle-curve off the Green Monster. Right fielder Wilyer Abreu raced home, tying the game at 4-4.

The Orioles responded in the top of the seventh inning when outfielder Tyler O’Neill grounded into a fielder’s choice, allowing Taylor Ward to score and giving Baltimore a 5-4 lead.

The Red Sox rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning when center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela singled through the left side of the infield with two outs, and shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng scored to tie it at 5-5.

Durbin delivered the final blow to the Orioles in the eighth inning, hammering Tyler Wells’ 91-mph cutter 364 feet over the Green Monster, and sending the Fenway Faithful into a frenzy.

The Red Sox third baseman was euphoric as he rounded the bases.

"There’s not a lot of times that you black out – as they say,’’ Durbin said. "I think that was one of the moments where I didn’t know what was happening. I couldn’t tell you what I looked like running around the bases."

"I can’t imagine it being more electric than tonight," Durbin said. "It might be. Tonight was awesome, though."

Contreras was one of the first players to jump over the railing onto the field after Durbin’s homer.

"I felt like (the) playoffs, going to the World Series, to be honest," he said. "Hopefully it happens. We’re on the way, but there’s a lot of season left, a lot of games to be played."

The Red Sox hope the good vibes carry over into Tuesday, when they face the Orioles (49-52) in the second game of a three-game series at 7:10 p.m. ET, and look to etch their names alongside the legendary Williams.

Identifying three breakout SEC players who will be household names by season's end in 2026

We are right in the thick of SEC Media Days in Tampa, which means the 2026 college football season is just around the corner.

Fans can find comfort in knowing that in a little more than a month, their Saturday afternoons and evenings will be filled with the heart-stopping SEC action they've been craving all offseason.

In honor of this joyous occasion, I thought it would be good to identify three breakout players in the conference that you need to know heading into the 2026 season.

These are players that are relatively unknown to all but the most hardcore fans, but will be household names by season's end.

Let's get to know some of the next big things in the SEC, shall we?

Though several schools claim to hold the title of "DBU," the Tigers of LSU are one of the few programs that have a legitimate stake to that claim by churning out droves of NFL-ready corners and safeties over the years.

Sophomore D.J. Pickett might be the next in a long line of LSU cornerbacks to stamp his name in the annals of SEC lore, and it's easy to see why.

The 6'5" prodigy saw the field extensively as a true freshman, racking up 35 total tackles (28 solo) and three interceptions.

If he keeps up with his growth trajectory, Pickett's second year should catapult him to legendary status, and the sky is truly the limit for this young man.

He has every physical tool you could possibly want in a modern day defensive back, with an insane wingspan to complement his 6'5" frame and legit sub-4.4 speed.

I fully expect Pickett to blossom under second-year defensive coordinator Blake Baker, and I can see an All-American selection in his future.

We must be living in a new age of college football when a Vanderbilt player makes a list like this, but that's just a testament to how improved the Commodores have been under Clark Lea and how special freshman quarterback Jared Curtis could be.

While "recruitniks" will no doubt recognize the name, I don't think any casual college football fan is familiar with just how special this kid can be.

That should change six months from now.

Curtis was a top-five player in the country and stunned the college football world when he flipped his commitment from Georgia to the hometown 'Dores, and that alone should give everyone in Nashville a reason for optimism.

If he's good enough for the recruiting juggernaut in Athens, he's good enough for everyone.

There's a reason Curtis is projected to be the starter without having ever taken a snap in college football, as the freshman phenom has the prototypical size (6'3" and 230 lbs) and arm strength to make every throw needed.

Offensive coordinator Tim Beck made the most out of former signal caller Diego Pavia, taking him from little-known New Mexico State transfer to Heisman finalist, and although it still remains to be seen whether that was more Pavia or Beck's doing, I expect similar success from the third-year OC now that he has his hands on a blue-chip prospect.

There will be growing pains, certainly. I don't expect an 18-year-old to come in and light the SEC on fire from day one and the schedule (as always) is unforgiving, but I definitely believe Curtis will improve throughout the season and become one of the best young passers in the conference by December.

One thing that all three players on this list have in common is that they are former consensus five-stars, the difference between the other two and Gators defensive end LJ McCray is that he has had a little more time in college than the other two.

That could be seen as both a good and bad thing.

On one hand, five-stars are generally supposed to be somewhat impactful from the first time they step on the field, which wasn't the case for McCray.

On the other hand, you could make the argument that a player like McCray has been seasoned in the weightroom and nutrition program and is ready to break out.

Florida fans and coaches are hoping it's the latter, as McCray hasn't lived up to his five-star billing in his two years of service.

That should change this fall, as reports out of Gainesville have been glowing regarding the former Daytona Beach prospect.

For starters, McCray has bulked up his 6'7" frame to 275 lbs of solid mass, and his numbers in the weightroom suggest these gains are mostly muscle.

That's big news, as one of McCray's biggest problems has been his inability to match up physically against some of the tackles in the SEC.

Another thing working in his favor could be that he gets to start opposite Jayden Woods, who earned Freshman All-SEC honors in 2025 and was a hot commodity in the transfer portal before returning to Florida.

Woods will garner a lot of attention from offensive coordinators in 2026, leaving McCray free to dominate in one-on-one matchups.

If he puts his stellar offseason together with the opportunities presented on the field, this could be a monster year for McCray.

Long-hidden UFO information at center of Trump push to free former officials

EXCLUSIVE: President Donald Trump has directed federal agencies to waive prior nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) for former government employees and contractors cooperating with unidentified anomalous phenomena investigations, Fox News Digital has learned.

"President Trump recently directed the Department of War and the intelligence community to allow former government employees or contractors, that have relevant information about the disclosure of UAP, to come forward to meet with designated government representatives — AARO or the President’s UAP taskforce, ‘PURSUE’ — and have their prior NDAs abrogated," a senior administration official said, with AARO referring to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, the Pentagon office established to investigate UFOs and other unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs).

Another senior administration official emphasized the move was not a "declassification directive" and only allowed employees to come forward through government channels.

Officials say years of congressional inquiries, whistleblower allegations and newly declassified records have raised questions about whether additional witnesses have remained silent because they believed prior nondisclosure agreements prevented them from cooperating with government investigations.

"People who believe that they have information have expressed reluctance in coming forward," the official said. "We are eliminating that source of reluctance."

Like other government employees and defense contractors with access to classified information or sensitive national security programs, many witnesses would have signed nondisclosure agreements as a condition of receiving security clearances or access to restricted information. Those agreements generally prohibit unauthorized disclosure of classified or otherwise protected information and typically remain in effect even after an individual leaves government service.

Former officials and contractors who disclose protected information without authorization risk losing security clearances, facing civil penalties or, in some circumstances, criminal prosecution if classified information is improperly disclosed.

Under the new process, former government employees and contractors who believe they possess relevant UAP information would first meet with designated officials at the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) or the president's UAP task force, PURSUE, who hold the appropriate security clearances. During those authorized discussions, any applicable nondisclosure agreements could be waived, allowing witnesses to share information without fear of violating prior agreements.

Information provided through the process would be reviewed through the administration's existing declassification procedures.

"Any information that is received that sheds light on the UAP mystery will ultimately be made public," the official said.

The official said the administration does not know whether potential witnesses actually possess significant new information, but wants to remove any perceived legal barriers so investigators can determine whether previously undisclosed information exists.

"You don't know what you don't know," the official said.

The official said the focus is on incidents that remain unexplained, rather than known foreign technology, classified U.S. programs or natural phenomena.

The latest directive builds on the Trump administration's broader effort to declassify decades of government records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena. Previous releases have included FBI and Pentagon records describing unexplained sightings reported by military personnel, law enforcement and astronauts, including accounts of glowing "mother orbs" that witnesses said released smaller objects near a sensitive U.S. national security site, mysterious orange spheres observed during military operations, and Apollo-era transcripts in which astronauts described unexplained lights and "jagged, angular fragments" drifting outside their spacecraft.

The latest tranche of UAP records included expanded details and imagery from a 2015 incident involving an unidentified object over the Pantex nuclear weapons facility in Texas, along with newly declassified infrared footage showing a mysterious six-pointed star-shaped object tracked by a U.S. military sensor over the Yellow Sea on Jan. 1, 2025.

The official said the next tranche of files will be made available "very soon."

The directive follows years of complaints from some lawmakers and whistleblowers that former officials with firsthand knowledge were reluctant to come forward because of secrecy obligations.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, then the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in 2023 that multiple individuals with firsthand knowledge had approached the committee but were hesitant to speak publicly because of potential repercussions.

"Some of these people still work in the government and frankly, a lot of them are very fearful — fearful of their jobs, fearful of their clearances, fearful of their career, and some, frankly, are fearful of harm coming to them," he said on News Nation in June 2023.

"Grant immunity to anyone who has already come forward, and everyone who will come forward. Open the door and let them speak," Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., demanded during a June 9 press conference on Capitol Hill.

Public interest in UAPs accelerated in 2017 after The New York Times revealed the Pentagon had quietly operated a secret program to investigate unexplained aerial encounters and published Navy cockpit videos showing objects exhibiting unusual flight characteristics.

Since then, Congress has held multiple bipartisan hearings on the issue, lawmakers have pressed intelligence agencies for greater transparency, and former intelligence officer David Grusch's allegations that the government had concealed information about UAP programs renewed calls for additional disclosure, despite the government's denial of his central claims.

During the same event, former Air Force intelligence officer Grusch renewed his allegations that secret UAP programs had operated outside normal congressional oversight, calling it "a real fraud, waste and abuse issue" and claiming his investigation uncovered "slush funds to the tune of billions of dollars per annum for these activities."

The Pentagon has disputed Grusch's central claims, and AARO has said its investigations found no verified evidence of extraterrestrial technology or credible evidence that the government has secretly recovered or reverse-engineered craft of non-human origin.

Yesterday brought a loss on the Twins as I was backing the wrong horse in the race, apparently. The normally reliable Joe Ryan looked awful and allowed a bunch of runs early. I actually prefer to lose this way because I don't need to pay attention to it. It was the wrong read, and I can start looking at the next day of games. That was a game between two AL Central teams; I'm going to try one with another from the division as the Tigers take on the Cubs.

The Detroit Tigers are still below .500, but no one in the division has run away with the lead, so there is still a chance they can turn it around. You don't need to give them a big reminder about how August and September can change a division race. They were massive favorites last year to win the division, and the Guardians had a phenomenal stretch to steal the division. The Tigers got the last laugh as they won in the playoffs. Still, this team needs a jolt in one way or another, and all the talk surrounding them is about if Tarik Skubal will be traded or not.

During the offseason, they knew they would have to come to a decision about Skubal, and they signed Framber Valdez, the best available starter, to kind of soften the blow of losing Skubal. For the year, Valdez is 5-6 with a 4.10 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Those numbers aren't terrible, but they also aren't exactly top-of-the-rotation quality, either. Valdez has done a pretty good job of keeping the ball down, overall. He has 178 ground balls as opposed to 158 fly balls, and that doesn't count his strikeouts. Cubs hitters haven't done particularly well against Valdez, either, batting just 4-for-32 against him.

The Chicago Cubs are basically in the same spot they were last season. They were solid as a club, but they are still looking up at the Milwaukee Brewers. They are one of the streakier clubs in baseball, and if their offense starts to slow down, they are really going to struggle. That's mostly because the pitching staff seems to be held together by duct tape and Band-Aids. They've made a couple of trades to get some arms that might help them for the year, but no one you really want to go into the postseason with.

One of those trades they made was for today's starter, David Peterson. His numbers are pretty ugly, but the Cubs either thought they could turn him around or saw something in him that made them think it was a worthwhile investment. He is 4-7 with a 6.45 ERA and a 1.64. He was much better in his last outing for them than his first. Against the Orioles, he went five innings and allowed two hits and one earned run. Against the Cardinals, he allowed 10 earned runs on nine hits over 3.2 innings. The Tigers are 3-for-8 against him.

Some ballparks have a bigger impact on betting than others. When the wind is blowing out at Wrigley Field, the ball flies out, and it seems like the total can't be high enough. Tonight, the wind will be blowing in. Peterson is more of a fly ball pitcher, but there shouldn't be too much damage against him, considering the wind can knock stuff down. Valdez is more of a ground ball pitcher. I think this game will go under the 8.5 total tonight thanks to both pitchers being aided by the wind. The Tigers also aren't a major offensive force to begin with. Give me the under.

Jalen Brunson says Knicks haven't discussed White House visit despite owner saying they were going

New York Knicks owner James Dolan may have jumped the gun when he said his championship-winning squad would be White House bound.

Days after winning the team's first title in 53 years, Dolan announced that the team "receive[d] an invitation from the White House, which we accepted."

"Still have to figure out the details, but, yes, of course, I invited the president to come down to the game, right? He is a friend. I've known him for 30 years, and I'm very proud to bring the team to the White House," Dolan said at the time.

Well, Jalen Brunson is holding the horses.

"That’s something that we actually haven’t discussed as a team," Brunson told Variety in a recent interview. "And so, obviously, people are making assumptions and saying everything, but together we haven’t discussed it yet. And so we’ll cross our bridge when we get to it."

The Knicks would be the first NBA team to visit Trump in either of his terms, a note Brunson found "interesting."

President Donald Trump attended the Knicks' Game 3 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden. It turned out to be the only loss for the Knicks, who went on to win the NBA Finals in five games.

Dolan and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani got into a war of words during the Finals regarding watch parties. Dolan then appeared to take a shot at Mamdani during the team's victory celebration at City Hall and did his best to stiff him in a photo op.

The Dolan-Mamdani beef is hardly new. The spat began during the election cycle when Mamdani used the Knicks logo for his campaign, and the team issued a cease-and-desist letter. The White House then used the Knicks logo in a post shortly after last year's election to say, "Trump Is Your President." The Knicks reached out to the White House, which then removed the post.

Trump admin pausing over $1B in Medicaid payments to Minnesota, California over fraud, compliance concerns

The Trump administration is freezing more than $1 billion in federal Medicaid funding to California and Minnesota over suspected fraud, with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warning Tuesday that states won't receive another taxpayer dollar until they prove the payments were legitimate.

"If Governor Gavin Newsom or Governor Tim Walz wants this funding released, all they have to do is provide basic documentation showing that these services are legitimate and not fraudulent. And that's common sense," Kennedy said Tuesday during a press conference on the announcement.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is withholding roughly $867 million from California and more than $200 million from Minnesota while federal officials review what they described as high-risk Medicaid claims and documentation deficiencies.

Kennedy said the Trump administration is using artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and traditional financial reviews to identify suspicious spending, adding that states seeking federal Medicaid funding must demonstrate the payments comply with federal law.

"We are not sending Medicaid and Medicare dollars out the door until we have confidence that they are being spent lawfully and appropriately," Kennedy said.

CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said the administration's review uncovered repeated irregularities in both states, including claims submitted for deceased beneficiaries, providers previously flagged through fraud detection systems and spending patterns federal officials said were significant outliers.

"If it smells like fraud, we're not paying for it anymore," Oz said.

According to CMS, California accounted for the largest share of the funding freeze, with roughly $646 million tied to in-home supportive services and another $221 million associated with claims involving individuals with what Oz described as "unsatisfactory immigration status."

Oz said California's spending on in-home supportive services increased 24% over the past two federal fiscal years — roughly double the national average — and said the state has yet to adequately document hundreds of millions of dollars in claims.

In Minnesota, officials said the state was asked to review providers participating in 14 high-risk Medicaid service categories, including personal care and home-based services. Oz said Minnesota recently disenrolled roughly 3,000 providers after failed background checks, failed site visits and other compliance issues, prompting CMS to review nearly $200 million in claims tied to those providers.

Federal officials also cited millions of dollars in claims billed for services allegedly provided to beneficiaries after their deaths, calling such payments a major red flag.

Kennedy also announced that HHS is expanding exclusion authority, allowing both CMS and the HHS Office of Inspector General to remove individuals and entities found to have committed fraud from federal healthcare programs, with some offenders facing permanent bans.

Kennedy sharply criticized the Biden administration's oversight of Medicaid, arguing former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra weakened anti-fraud efforts by reducing program integrity staffing and allowing questionable payments to continue while attempting to recover the money later.

"The scammers got paid. The taxpayers got stuck with these enormous bills," Kennedy said.

The administration said California and Minnesota can receive the withheld funding if they provide documentation showing the payments were legitimate.

"We have a duty to stop the payments, demand answers, and then follow the evidence wherever it leads," Kennedy said.

After starting the season with a 20-12 record, they are just 25-43 in their last 68 games, and they were handed an 8-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.

But the Reds suffered an absolute facepalm moment in the bottom of the seventh inning, which had already gone awry thanks to Cal Raleigh's grand slam.

However, the Reds didn't get much help afterward. Mariners outfielder Victor Robles hit a grounder to short, and second baseman Edwin Arroyo tried to make a play. However, he found umpire Bill Miller in his way, and the ball squeaked into the outfield while also getting past shortstop Elly De La Cruz.

Relief pitcher Caleb Ferguson was not happy, shouting obscenities at the umpire and ripping him for his appearance.

"F—ing fata–! Out of the way motherf—er," Ferguson, who had just allowed the Raleigh grand slam, appeared to yell at Miller.

The slumping catcher, who finished in second place in last year's AL Most Valuable Player voting with his 60-homer season, is hitting just .163 this season, but he pounced on the first pitch and turned on a hanging breaking ball, sending it 408 feet into the left-field bleachers to break the game open. It was just his 10th home run of the season.

"I know what Raleigh’s hitting and, he still worries me," the veteran skipper said with a laugh. "But, I thought that was our best chance to have them not score. We could play the infield double-play depth. And, the worst possible outcome happened."

‘Misleading voters’: Ossoff warns donors he’s falling behind despite leading Senate fundraising

Sen. Jon Ossoff is warning supporters that his campaign is falling behind and needs more money to keep its ads on the air, despite having one of the largest campaign war chests in the country.

The Georgia Democrat has raised $68.7 million since 2025, slightly more than Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, the next highest fundraiser, who brought in $65.9 million after launching his campaign in September 2025. While securing massive donation hauls, Ossoff’s campaign has simultaneously told prospective donors that it needs money to keep ads running and that it is consistently behind on its fundraising goals.

In July alone, the Ossoff campaign — which the most recent available disclosures show to have $42.6 million in cash on hand — sent multiple emails to supporters claiming that it urgently needs money to keep its advertising push going.

"$5 to keep us on the air," the subject line of a July 2 email reads, according to archive records.

"And the more donations we receive right now, the further we can spread our message to persuade and turn out the voters we need to win big in November," the body of the email reads. "So I need your help — not just to keep this ad on the air, but to spread our message even further. Will you contribute $5 or whatever you can afford to keep our ad on the air and defeat Trump puppet, Mike Collins?"

A campaign spokeswoman told Fox News Digital when asked about the fundraising that Ossoff faces an extraordinary level of Republican spending because he is the only Democratic senator seeking re-election in a state President Donald Trump won in 2024.

"As the only Democratic Senator up for re-election in a state Trump won in 2024, Senator Ossoff is already facing millions of dollars of Republican spending against him, including an initial $44 million from the leading Republican Super PAC and countless more to come from Republican dark money groups empowered by a recent Supreme Court decision that allows them to open the floodgates for unlimited sums of money to prop up candidates, including scandal-ridden Mike Collins," the spokeswoman said.

Google ad records show that Ossoff is spending millions of dollars on messaging in states besides Georgia — including early presidential primary states such as Iowa and South Carolina as well as swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. The behavior, which is abnormal for Democrats in high-profile Senate races, is fueling speculation that Ossoff may launch a run for the presidency in 2028.

In a June 18 email, Ossoff's campaign told supporters that "it’s looking like we’re on pace to miss our fundraising goals for the month." The campaign made similar claims in April and March, according to archived emails.

Despite these lamentations, a short time later, the campaign said it has an "unstoppable grassroots momentum" after its fundraising numbers were publicly released.

"Jon Ossoff is misleading voters as he prepares to ditch Georgia for a shot at the White House," National Republican Senatorial Committee press secretary Bernadette Breslin told Fox News Digital. "But no amount of out-of-state ad spending can erase his failed record — from enabling Joe Biden’s reckless spending agenda to supporting open-border policies that allowed Laken Riley’s killer to roam free."

While Ossoff has raised over 10 times more than GOP Senate nominee Rep. Mike Collins has this year, national Republican committees, such as the NRSC, have brought in significantly more cash than their Democratic counterparts.

These national committees have already pledged tens of millions of dollars to defeating Ossoff. Outside groups spent over $170 million against Ossoff and in support of his GOP opponent during the 2020 general and 2021 runoff elections in Georgia, leaving some expecting a similarly expensive race in 2026.

A recent Supreme Court case has also granted political parties greater leeway in coordinating their spending with individual candidates, which has been characterized as a victory for Republicans.

The fundraising emails reviewed by Fox News Digital for this story appear in the Archive of Political Emails, a project run by the right-of-center Defending Democracy Together Institute.

Screenshots of fundraising texts from the Ossoff campaign have also circulated on social media, attracting criticism from some given the significant financial resources already available to it.

"Jon you have a bajillion dollars what are you talking about," the user texted back.

"He was BEGGING too," another user responded, posting a picture of a separate reported fundraising text they received from Ossoff’s campaign.

Beyond emails to supporters, the Ossoff campaign has also publicly complained that it needs more money.

Joe Biden mandated all new vehicles come installed with a 'kill switch.' This Republican wants to repeal it

Rep. Scott Perry, R-Penn., wants to kill the kill switch.

A bill Perry is seeking to push through Congress would rescind a provision in former President Joe Biden's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that mandates all new cars to come preinstalled with technology that ostensibly monitors whether a driver's blood alcohol levels are above the legal limit and can shut their vehicle off remotely.

"If you don't know what a kill switch is," Perry explained in an interview with Fox News Digital, "it's exactly what it sounds like. It kills your vehicle. The vehicle itself decides whether it appreciates and approves of your driving based on a series of algorithms, computer metrics, etcetera, about how it thinks you should be driving. And if you're not comporting with that, it shuts the vehicle off."

The two-paragraph No Kill Switches In Cars Act, shorter than the law it seeks to repeal, would nix the Biden-era provision that mandates all new cars contain technology which "monitors a driver's performance to identify driver impairment" and which "must also prevent or limit vehicle operation if the system determines the driver may be intoxicated or impaired."

Perry argued the law was an encroachment on the civil liberties of Americans, and that it would violate the Constitution's Fourth Amendment and make vehicles unnecessarily expensive.

"Cars are expensive and one of the reasons they're expensive is because we have all these systems on them. I'm a person that uses my mirrors to back up," Perry explained.

Maybe I want a new car, but I can't afford the camera and the lane assist, and now all these other features that are in the car monitoring me. I'm not allowed to buy that car. My goodness, this is America. We should be able to buy what we want. If you can't afford that stuff or don't want that stuff, it should be your choice.

Perry explained that he was all for efforts to mitigate drunk and impaired driving, even admitting that he's had family members affected by the phenomenon, but explained that the Biden-era provision was "a bridge too far."

And that's why I think that we are supportive of other measures and enforcement of those measures, but not trying to seek to punish every single person that drives a car for the sake of the few that abuse that."

Perry imagined a number of scenarios in which a kill switch could improperly result in a driver who wasn't under the influence of alcohol losing access to their vehicle.

"My wife was pregnant at one time, and we did leave to go deliver the baby. And I can just tell you, as a guy that's had a pregnant wife, they're very intensively interested in getting to the hospital in a timely fashion," Perry joked wryly.

"And I just picture somebody that they're trying to, maybe they're trying to get themselves to the hospital, maybe they are the husband, or the father of the child is not around, and they're driving differently than they have been in the past and the car just shuts off. Or another circumstance that I've envisioned where some young lady is leaving a store or some establishment and someone is following her, and she's scared, and she decides, 'Well, I think I'm just going to go to the police station. I've got to find the police station.' So while you're driving, You're trying to look it up. Where is it? And the car decides you're driving erratically and shuts off, that's the worst time for the car to shut off," he said.

"I live in central Pennsylvania, but it's hot in Arizona right now. I've been there. There are long stretches of highway. It's over 100 degrees. Your car decides to shut off, and you're left walking out in 100 degrees, maybe you're impaired, maybe the heat affects you physically. And, you know, there's a million scenarios that haven't been envisioned right now, where Americans' rights are being taken away, and the nanny state is forcing itself upon us."

"The intentions are fine," he continued. "We all want to stop drunk driving. But you don't punish everybody else for the sake of the few that violate the law. We don't do that in the United States of America, but yet we're choosing to do it here."

To Perry, the kill switch law is not simply about mitigating drunk driving, but indicative of a broader encroachment of corporate and biometric surveillance into the civil liberties of Americans everywhere.

"Couple it with all the other things that are happening at the same," Perry said. "Consider artificial intelligence, with facial recognition software, with gait analysis... with central bank digital currency," he continued. "One of the major car companies just applied for patents to monitor while you're driving your pupils, your respiration, your breathing, your heart rate, your conversation... and then the censorship of people online for their opinions. All that is part of the same conversation. I took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. And the constitution says that American citizens are not subject to unlawful search and seizure, and I think that this is a pretty good indication that there is unlawful search."

Perry again noted that "nobody is for drunk driving" but argued that mitigation efforts should be focused on enforcing existing laws and cooperating with law enforcement.

"What we should be for is punishing those and dealing with those who choose to drive impaired or unwittingly do it, but you don't punish everybody else for the sake of the few that do. I happen to not drink at all. So why should I… why should anybody have their privacy monitored and interrupted without a warrant, but also be forced to pay for it?" Perry asked.

Though Biden's bill required the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to codify the law in its vehicle manufacturing regulation code, the agency missed a 2024 deadline, in part due to the logistical challenges of a lack of available monitoring technology.

A spokesperson for the agency told Fox News Digital that NHTSA is currently evaluating public comments on the agency's research into monitoring and into the rule.

The spokesperson noted in particular a line in the agency's 2024 report to Congress which cast doubt on the immediate availability of passive impairment monitoring technology.

"Of the technologies reviewed, most were in an early state of research and development or were not designed for in-vehicle use. Though the two 2024 reports documented some promising technologies, neither report found commercially available technology that detects driver alcohol impairment accurately and passively," the report read.

"Currently, detection technology around the legal limit continues to have an error rate that would be unacceptably high," the report also read.

Though Perry has picked up a growing number of GOP lawmakers to support his bill — 21 lawmakers have joined the original 14 introducing members as co-sponsors — advocacy organizations like Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) disagree entirely with the premise of the term "kill switch."

"MADD does not support government surveillance, remote vehicle control or shutdowns, GPS tracking, or the collection, sharing, or sale of personal driving data," the organization told Fox News Digital in a statement.

"The law directs the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to develop a federal vehicle safety standard through an open, transparent rulemaking process that must include public input, rigorous testing and strong privacy safeguards. Once fully implemented, the law will save more than 10,000 lives every year. Americans should not have to choose between protecting individual privacy and preventing drunk driving. We can, and should, accomplish both. In 2024 alone, 11,904 people lost their lives to this entirely preventable crime. We believe Americans deserve every reasonable protection available to stop drunk driving tragedies while protecting privacy and civil liberties. Unnecessary delays based on inaccurate descriptions of what the law actually requires only prolong the devastating toll drunk driving continues to take on families and communities across the country," the statement concluded.

EXCLUSIVE: The delay in allowing the FBI to assist in the investigation into Nancy Guthrie's suspected abduction may have cost crucial video evidence due to the elaborate process involved in recovering Nest doorbell footage from the crime scene when the victim did not have a cloud subscription and her physical camera was missing as well, according to the FBI director.

Guthrie, the mother of "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early hours of Feb. 1, according to authorities.

The FBI worked with Google to recover cached video from Guthrie's Nest camera that was not intended for long-term storage and was on the verge of deletion, Director Kash Patel told Fox News Digital.

If there was more, it was lost before the FBI became involved, and its evidentiary value remains unknown.

"We were looking for the needle of all needles in all haystacks, because since she didn't pay for it, they didn't record that data," he said. "But there was a chance that it was located in their cache just before it was being deleted."

That's where investigators found the video and still images that Patel made public on Feb. 10, in the hope that someone would recognize the suspect and turn him in.

A short time later, FBI experts had generated a rough physical description. The masked suspect is described as between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black Ozark Trail backpack.

A masked man appeared on Guthrie's Nest camera at least twice — once on the day of her Feb. 1 abduction, and once about three weeks earlier, Fox News Digital has reported previously. Authorities have not publicly ruled out the potential for additional suspects in the case.

There is only a single still image publicly available from the earlier visit. Experts say it's likely that video existed at one point.

If the FBI were involved sooner, agents may have been able to recover additional evidence, which potentially may have included a suspect vehicle, more footage of the masked intruder or even additional imagery from a prior visit to Guthrie's home, Patel said.

"What we do know is that the longer you wait, there's no chance of recovering the video," said Morgan Wright, the CEO and founder of the National Center for Open and Unsolved Cases. "The earlier you get started, the better your chances. Waiting four days may have been fatal to the recovery of some video that could have been more illuminating."

Because Google and the FBI were able to recover at least some video through this process, it's fair to infer that earlier video would have existed as well, Wright told Fox News Digital.

"If this was recovered from a backend cache, and it was almost deleted, that implies that another video was deleted because they would have been able to recover more than what they did," he said. "Timing is always an issue."

At this point, however, whatever may or may not have existed remains unknown and unavailable to investigators.

"Time is the enemy of all investigations and the thief of vital evidence," Wright said. "You can never go back and get this evidence once it's gone. Time is the most critical factor in any investigation, whether it's finding the suspect, finding the victim, or finding the evidence."

Patel has previously said the FBI was ready to help on day one and explained this week that he wanted to deploy scores of FBI personnel from the outset. However, local authorities didn't request the FBI's assistance for four days.

By the time the FBI arrived, the crime scene had already been released. People had been allowed to knock on Guthrie's front door, where her blood was on the porch. It was secured once more, and FBI agents spent hours examining the home and the yard, collecting additional home security cameras.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has countered that an FBI task force member was present during the initial stages of the investigation — however that officer is not a federal agent.

The sheriff's department declined to comment for this story.

The network will include Newton in a round of layoffs that could be announced as soon as Tuesday. OutKick reported Monday that NFL analyst Ryan Clark would be among the on-air employees let go.

ESPN featured Newton over the past two seasons as a debate partner for Stephen A. Smith on "First Take."

Last season, the network elevated Newton to replace Shannon Sharpe as Smith's primary Monday co-host during football season, the show's highest-rated day of the week.

Sources say ESPN will look for a permanent replacement for Newton on the Monday editions of the show.

Newton and Smith engaged in a public back-and-forth last spring after Newton invited Jason Whitlock, whom Smith has said he "hates with a passion," onto his podcast.

CNN legal analyst calls out 'utterly ridiculous' claim by Mamdani about Netanyahu arrest

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig called out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday for saying he was looking at whether the city's authorities could arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits.

"So, Elie, give us a reality check here. Can Mamdani have Netanyahu arrested?" CNN's Brianna Keilar asked Honig.

"Absolutely not. It is utterly ridiculous for the mayor of New York City to even suggest that he might have the authority to order the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu or any visiting foreign head of state. First of all, the mayor of New York City has zero law enforcement authority. He does not tell the Manhattan D.A., the NYPD, who to arrest, who to indict," Honig responded.

Honig noted that the U.S. was not a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC), and therefore the arrest warrant the ICC issued for Netanyahu has no impact here.

"Second of all, this warrant that we're talking about here was issued by the ICC, the International Criminal Court, which we are not signatories to here in the United States. In fact, we have a federal law here in the U.S., passed 24 years ago, that says, if necessary, the president can send military troops to pull our people and our allies out of the ICC. So, that warrant has zero impact," he said.

Honig added, "The Constitution is quite clear that the conduct of foreign diplomacy, foreign affairs, is entirely up to the federal government. It's certainly not up to local and county governments in New York City or elsewhere."

"So, I know the mayor is having his best lawyers look at this right now. Let me save them some time. You do not have the authority to do this," the CNN legal analyst concluded.

In remarks first reported by The New York Times, Mamdani called Netanyahu a "war criminal" who "belongs in The Hague" and said his administration is in an "active conversation" with the city's Law Department over what legal authority New York City possesses should the Israeli prime minister travel to the Big Apple.

"Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that’s what we will do," Mamdani said, adding his administration would not write new laws for that purpose.

When reached for comment by Fox News Digital, the mayor's office referenced Mamdani's statement from an unrelated press conference on Monday.

"And he's the subject of the arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity for war crimes, and he's the architect of the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza as Israel's prime minister. These are not facts of my personal assessment; they are facts of public record. And I believe that when someone is charged with an international criminal court warrant, it's something that should be taken seriously, whether it's Benjamin Netanyahu or it's Vladamir Putin or whomever else."

"What I've also made clear is my administration will follow all applicable local laws," Mamdani said. "That is our commitment, that is something we will follow through on when it comes to adherence to local law and that's all I have to add on that."

He continued, "My point is that if someone is charged with a warrant by the international criminal court for these kinds of crimes, that's something that I believe should be honored, and I've also said that we will follow our local laws."

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz slammed Mamdani's remarks as "pure political theater," saying the mayor has no legal authority to arrest Netanyahu.

WNBA All-Star charity initiative supports sports group that says it is ‘moving beyond the binary of girl’

The WNBA is celebrating its milestone 30th season with a new All-Star initiative that the league says is designed to help keep girls involved in sports.

But one of the Chicago-area organizations selected to benefit from the league’s $100,000 All-Star prize pool says on its own website that it is "moving beyond the binary of ‘girl’" and welcomes "gender-expansive participants regardless of gender identity or expression."

The organization is Girls in the Game, the charity affiliated with "Team Spoon" in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game.

According to the league’s July 15 release, the WNBA All-Star teams will compete for a $100,000 prize pool benefiting two Chicago-area organizations "dedicated to keeping girls involved in sports." The winning team’s organization receives $70,000, while the runner-up’s organization gets $30,000. Team Coop is playing for Angels Athletics, while Team Spoon is supporting Girls in the Game.

The WNBA described Girls in the Game as an organization that "partners with schools, parks, and community centers in Chicago to offer sports, health, and leadership programs."

That sounds straightforward enough until you dig deeper into the Girls in the Game website.

OutKick/Fox News Digital reviewed the organization’s website and found language that raises obvious questions about how Girls in the Game defines "girl."

Under the heading "We stand for inclusivity," Girls in the Game says: "Moving beyond the binary of ‘girl’, we welcome LGBTQ+ youth and gender-expansive participants regardless of gender identity or expression."

Wait, what?

Girls in the Game is not a generic youth charity that happens to work with girls. The organization repeatedly frames its mission around girls, girls’ sports and girls-only spaces. So when it says it is "moving beyond the binary of ‘girl,’" people deserve to know what that actually means.

OutKick/Fox News Digital has not been able to confirm whether any biological males have participated in Girls in the Game’s girl-centered sports programming.

According to its 2025 annual report, Girls in the Game served 3,059 participants in FY25. The report says its Chicago After School program alone served 921 participants and girls "play sports, learn about healthy lifestyle choices, and improve their leadership skills in an all-girl setting." The report also says the program provides a "safe, non-competitive environment for girls to learn and be physically active."

The organization’s public-facing program materials do not clearly state whether participation is based on biological sex, gender identity or another eligibility standard.

But Girls in the Game’s own LGBTQ resource pages also point users toward gender-identity-related services. One page lists Howard Brown as a resource that includes "gender-affirming health care" and "trans and non-binary care," along with a support group intended for "BIPOC, trans, non-conforming, questioning individuals" and the Trans Lifeline hotline.

Another Girls in the Game LGBTQ resource page lists "Gender Affirming clothing, makeup, community resources," along with God’s Closet, which it describes as offering "clothes and tailoring for gender-nonconforming/trans people." That page also lists a support group for "BIPOC trans, non-conforming, questioning individuals" and Trans Lifeline.

If the WNBA is promoting this as an initiative to keep girls involved in sports, and if one of the beneficiaries says it is moving beyond the binary definition of "girl," then the league and the organization need to explain who is eligible for those programs.

OutKick/Fox News Digital reached out to Girls in the Game and asked whether biological males who "identify" as girls, transgender girls, "nonbinary" or "gender-expansive" are eligible to participate in its girl-centered sports programming.

OutKick/Fox News Digital also asked whether any Girls in the Game programs operate as girls-only spaces, whether those programs are limited based on biological sex or gender identity, whether parents are told before enrollment that the organization is "moving beyond the binary of ‘girl,’" and whether the WNBA All-Star money would be unrestricted or directed toward a specific program.

Girls in the Game did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

OutKick/Fox News Digital also contacted Angels Athletics, the organization affiliated with Team Coop, to ask whether its girls basketball and girls sports programs are limited to biological girls or open based on gender identity. Angels Athletics also did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Then there’s the WNBA.

OutKick/Fox News Digital asked the league whether it was aware of Girls in the Game’s "moving beyond the binary of ‘girl’" language before selecting the organization for the All-Star initiative.

OutKick/Fox News Digital also asked whether the league believes an organization that says it is moving beyond the binary definition of "girl" fits an initiative described as keeping girls involved in sports, whether the WNBA asked Girls in the Game about eligibility for biological males who identify as girls or "gender-expansive" participants, and whether the WNBA supports biological males participating in girls’ youth sports programming if they "identify" as girls.

The WNBA did not respond to OutKick/Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Maybe there’s a simple explanation.

Girls in the Game might argue that its programming is non-competitive or centered on youth development rather than formal leagues. But that wouldn’t answer the important question. The WNBA did not announce a prize-pool initiative to help keep "gender-expansive" youth involved in sports. It said the money would benefit organizations dedicated to keeping girls involved in sports.

Girls in the Game, meanwhile, describes some of its own programming as taking place in an "all-girl setting," while also saying it is "moving beyond the binary of ‘girl’" and welcomes participants regardless of gender identity or expression.

Whether the sports are competitive or non-competitive is not the only issue. The issue is that an organization built around girls’ sports spaces is openly advertising that those spaces are not necessarily just for girls.

As for the WNBA, maybe the league will say it selected the organization for its broader youth-development work and never asked about eligibility because the money is not tied to competitive girls’ sports.

These are not difficult questions. This whole mess could be cleaned up with a simple email response. Instead, Girls in the Game, Angels Athletics and the WNBA have not provided one.

Coffee drinkers may not have to feel guilty about reaching for another cup.

A new scientific statement from the American Heart Association says that consuming up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day — the equivalent of about five 8-ounce cups of black coffee — is generally safe for most healthy adults and may even be linked to a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, heart failure and Type 2 diabetes. The findings were published Monday in the journal Circulation.

The review also found that the potential benefits are most consistently seen with plain black coffee rather than beverages loaded with sugar, flavored syrups or heavy cream.

"For most healthy adults, up to about 400 milligrams of caffeine a day, which is roughly five cups of black coffee, appears safe," South Carolina-based registered dietitian Lauren Manaker, who was not involved in the research, told Fox News Digital.

"And the latest research links moderate coffee drinking with a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, heart failure and Type 2 diabetes. That's reassuring news for coffee lovers."

Manaker cautioned, however, that what people add to their coffee matters.

"How you take your coffee makes a real difference," she said. "The benefits show up most clearly with plain black coffee. Once you start piling on sugar, flavored syrups and cream, you may be trading away some of the good you were hoping to get."

The American Heart Association also emphasized that coffee should not be lumped together with energy drinks, which often contain much higher doses of caffeine and other stimulants.

Higher amounts of caffeine — particularly from energy drinks and energy shots — have been associated with elevated blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms.

"Coffee and energy drinks are not the same thing, and we shouldn't treat them that way," Manaker said.

Florida man arrested in IHOP restaurant after police say he stabbed a rideshare driver

A Florida man was arrested Monday inside an IHOP restaurant in Orlando after police say he stabbed a rideshare driver.

Jovaughn Nathan Matthie allegedly stabbed the driver after the individual "refused to provide a ride without a request through the rideshare app," according to the Orlando Police Department.

Police have not released the driver’s condition. Matthie has been charged with attempted murder.

After the stabbing, Matthie fled to a nearby IHOP in northeastern Orlando, police said.

Body camera footage released by the department showed multiple officers surrounding Matthie as he sat and drank a hot beverage.

The restaurant appeared to have been cleared out, as there were no other customers around, according to the footage.

Officers repeatedly told Matthie to get on the ground, lie on his stomach and place his hands behind his back.

When Matthie was slow to put his hands behind his back, an officer holding a police dog warned that he would be "dog bit" if he did not comply.

After he was handcuffed, two officers got him to his feet before noticing he had a "long" object in his pocket, according to the video.

Another officer carefully reached inside Matthie's sweatpants and found an item he identified as a knife wrapped in white cloth.

The Orlando Police Department has not released additional details, saying it is withholding certain information to "protect the integrity of the investigation."

Utah hiker killed by lightning just steps from mountain summit during trek with brother

A Utah man hiking with his brother was killed last week after a lightning bolt struck him just steps from the summit of the highest peak in Salt Lake County, authorities said.

Craig Nelson, 59, set out Saturday morning with his brother for the summit of the east peak of American Fork Twin Peaks after the pair rode the Snowbird tram partway up the mountain. The brothers had made the hike together several times before, Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said during a news conference on Monday.

Rivera said that around 10:30 a.m. the brothers stopped to eat lunch and noticed the weather was beginning to change. The surviving brother later told investigators they watched the sky and, because they never saw any lightning, decided to keep going.

"As we know in Utah, the weather changes very frequently," Rivera said, later adding that the weather is "very unpredictable."

About an hour later, the brother reached the east peak first and turned around to head back down after noticing the weather had worsened, Rivera said. Nelson continued toward the summit. The brother told investigators that he saw Nelson suddenly collapse about 20 feet away from him and believed he had been struck by lightning.

The brother rushed back toward the Snowbird tram until he regained cellphone service and called 911 shortly after noon.

A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter quickly located Nelson near the summit, but rescuers had to wait for the storm to move through before they could safely reach him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Snowbird Ski Patrol later helped escort Nelson's brother off the mountain, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team.

American Fork Twin Peaks rises to 11,461 feet and is the highest point in Salt Lake County. Rivera emphasized that mountain weather can change with little warning and urged hikers to check the forecast before heading out. She said hikers should leave exposed ridgelines and summits as soon as storms begin moving in.

The sheriff's office also urged hikers to move to lower ground, stay away from isolated trees and bodies of water, and, if they cannot reach shelter, crouch low with their feet together until the storm passes.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains open while the Utah medical examiner determines Nelson's official cause of death.

New York State is drawing mockery after the chief judge of its highest court appointed "Sex and the City" actress Cynthia Nixon to a commission that screens and recommends candidates for the state's top judicial posts.

Nixon, who played attorney Miranda Hobbes on the 2000s hit series, will be one of four members of the 12-seat Commission on Judicial Nomination that are required to not be licensed members of the New York State Bar to practice law in the Empire State.

She was appointed Thursday by Chief Judge Rowan Wilson.

"Only in Kathy Hochul’s New York could playing a lawyer on HBO qualify you to pick the judges on our state’s highest court," Rep. Michael Lawler, R-N.Y., told Fox News Digital on Monday.

One posted an image of "ER" actor Noah Wyle – who played a doctor -- riffing that he could be the next Surgeon General. "I played the part of an astronaut in a school play when I was maybe 10 years old. Should I prepare my resume for NASA?" another wrote.

Saritha Komatireddy, the Republican challenging state Attorney General Letitia James, said that appointing a "celebrity activist with zero legal background to help shape the future of our judiciary sends the wrong message entirely."

"This is part of a broader trend in New York: politics increasingly taking precedence over public safety and common sense," Komatireddy told the New York Post.

Nixon is aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America and unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2018 in a primary against Andrew Cuomo.

She campaigned for former Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2013 and current Mayor Zohran Mamdani in 2025.

At least one Democrat also sounded off against Nixon’s appointment, appearing to blame farther-left members of his party for dispensing with Gov. Kathy Hochul’s original nominee to Rowan’s seat.

"The price New Yorkers will pay for the bigots and haters who took out the immensely qualified Justice LaSalle is that Cynthia Nixon now gets to vet the judiciary. Excelsior!" tweeted Assemb. Kalman Yeger, D-Borough Park, riffing on the state’s "Ever Upward" slogan at the end.

Hochul settled on Wilson after New York State Senate Democrats torpedoed her nomination of fellow Democrat Hector LaSalle to lead the court’s highest bench for appearing too conservative and amid opposition from activist and labor groups.

Republicans will also get their shot at appointing a member to the commission alongside Nixon.

State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, R-Niagara Falls, has been allotted one appointment following a recent retirement vacancy, according to the Albany Times-Union.

The top Republican on the New York Senate Judiciary Committee told Fox News Digital that Nixon's pick should "alarm every New Yorker" that political activism appears to be "a requirement for consideration to serve on the bench."

"The appointment of a far-left, non-lawyer, Hollywood actress to the Commission on Judicial Nomination further reinforces the fact that the courts of New York have become entirely partisan," said Sen. Anthony Palumbo of Suffolk.

"We should all be outraged by the abuse of this branch of government that is supposed to be immune from politics."

With Nixon now serving on the commission, she will help evaluate and recommend future Court of Appeals nominees to the governor, a role that could allow progressive critics' objections to LaSalle to continue influencing the state's highest court long after that confirmation fight ended.

Clavicular revealed on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast that he abandoned natural weightlifting as a teenager in favor of taking testosterone.

On Tuesday's episode, the fitness and looksmaxxing personality – known for his controversial focus on "looksmaxxing" – called traditional training without performance-enhancing drugs a "complete waste of time."

Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Eric Peters, told Hannity that his interest in fitness began in his family's basement gym in Hoboken, New Jersey. After researching workout routines online, he decided that making progress naturally was too slow.

"It's a complete waste of my time when I have this mechanism I could utilize, which was testosterone, to make the results in a much more efficient timeline. So why wouldn't I?"

The decision led Clavicular to secretly acquire performance-enhancing drugs at a young age, he shared.

"I used to have to camp out by the mailbox and pretend to be sick from school," he said, adding that he intercepted shipments of testosterone at age 14 to hide them from his parents.

Hannity, a father of two, pointed out that many parents would react with anger and concern, prompting Clavicular to admit that his parents disciplined him repeatedly throughout his teenage years.

"Throughout high school, if I would do a f--- up, I would get sent [to my grandmother's]," he said. "Then, after I got expelled from university for peptides and 'roids, that's where I got sent off to."

Clavicular said his academic career came to an abrupt halt after his public social media posts about his steroid use caught up with him.

"Throughout my entire life, I've kind of been documenting everything in a pretty public way," he said. "I was talking about different cycles I was running, and then someone just sent the forum posts to my university, and it was done."

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is pressing the State Department to yank F-1 and J-1 visas issued to Chinese students.

"I write today to urge the immediate suspension and cancellation of all F-1 and J-1 student visas held by Chinese nationals currently studying at institutions of higher education across the United States, considering recently declassified intelligence detailing the Chinese Communist Party's efforts to interfere in American elections," she wrote in a July 20 letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"The Trump Administration is protecting our nation and its citizens by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process."
