Asked Siri to call your bank? A scam could cost thousands

Asking Siri to call your credit card company sounds about as routine as asking for the weather. You say the company name, Siri finds a number and the call begins. For Virginia, an 82-year-old woman from Concord, Massachusetts, that simple request nearly turned into a financial nightmare.

She says she asked Siri to call American Express. Instead, she reached a bogus number. From there, the conversation eventually moved to her Bank of America account and a supposed $1,000 credit that suddenly became $100,000. Virginia caught on before sending the money.

Her story shows how a Siri bank scam can exploit something many of us barely think about: where a phone number came from before we dialed it. The Better Business Bureau has previously warned that fake customer-service numbers can surface through voice searches. It has documented cases involving Siri and other voice assistants where people believed they had reached a legitimate company.

Here's how the scam unfolded and what you can do before your next financial call to make sure you're reaching the real company.

Virginia's warning after a call she thought she could trust

Virginia wrote to CyberGuy after the experience because she wanted other people to know how quickly a seemingly safe phone call can go wrong.

"Hi, I just wanted to pass on this scam. I needed to call American Express. Instead of using the phone number on my credit card, I asked Siri to call American Express instead. It was all downhill from that point on. The telephone number was bogus, and eventually I wound up on my BOA account with a so-called BOA Security Expert. Fortunately, when zeros started being added to the $1000.00 credit I was supposed to get, and the "gentleman" said he couldn't correct it, I needed to go to BOA and return the $100000.00. I realized what was going on and immediately hung up and froze my BOA account. I never expected that a number that Siri provided would lead to trouble. I try to inform people now that calling a number can also put your finances in jeopardy. I am 82 years old and could have lost my entire retirement in one fell swoop. Thank you," Virginia, Concord, MA

That last part stopped me. Virginia had no reason to think asking Siri to place a call could potentially put her retirement savings in danger. After all, she initiated the call herself. That gave the person who answered an immediate advantage.

How Virginia's Siri bank scam appears to have worked

Based on Virginia's account, this looks like two scam techniques chained together. First came the fake customer-service number. Then came a refund or overpayment scheme designed to persuade her to send real money back.

Siri connected the call

Virginia says she asked Siri to call American Express rather than using the phone number printed on her card. Apple says business information can appear across Apple services, including Maps and Siri. Place cards can include phone numbers and other business details.

We reached out to Apple for comment but did not hear back before our deadline. However, Virginia's experience alone cannot tell us how this specific bogus number became associated with her request. We simply do not know how the bad number got there.

The caller apparently posed as American Express

This was a powerful setup because Virginia believed she had contacted American Express herself. She had not answered a random phone call. She had asked her iPhone to make the call. That can lower your guard before the person on the other end even says hello.

The Better Business Bureau has warned about this problem. Scammers can promote fake support numbers that make their way into online search results. Voice assistants may then use information pulled from those results or related business listings.

We have seen a similar trap with traditional web searches. In our report, The #1 Google search scam everyone falls for, a victim searching for customer support landed on a fake number and eventually lost control of his phone. Voice assistants can add another layer of trust because you may never see the number before the call starts.

Then the conversation moved to Bank of America

According to Virginia, she eventually found herself dealing with someone claiming to be a Bank of America security expert. At that point, the story had shifted from customer service to her bank account. That shift should immediately raise your guard. Bank of America warns about criminals who pose as bank representatives and invent urgent problems involving your account. Scammers may ask for verification codes, remote access or money transfers. Then Virginia encountered the clue that saved her.

A $1,000 credit suddenly became $100,000

Virginia says she expected a $1,000 credit. Then zeros started appearing. Suddenly, she was dealing with $100,000. The supposed bank expert told her the mistake could not be corrected. According to Virginia, she was then told she needed to go to Bank of America and return the excess money. That follows a familiar overpayment or refund scam pattern.

Scammers claim they accidentally sent too much money. Then they pressure you to return the difference before you have time to verify what happened. Fortunately, the sudden jump to $100,000 made Virginia question the entire story. She hung up and froze her Bank of America account.

Did the $100,000 ever really appear in her account?

We cannot determine that from Virginia's description. Scammers sometimes use remote-access software to manipulate what a person sees on a computer. They can also move a victim's own money between accounts, so it appears that a new deposit arrived. Another possibility involves a fake banking page designed to display whatever balance the criminal wants the victim to see.

What we do know is that the criminal wanted her to believe $100,000 had appeared and that she needed to return it. If she had followed those instructions, the money she sent would have been very real.

Ways to protect yourself from fake customer-service calls

A scammer may know your name, your bank or details that make the call sound convincing. These steps can help you stay in control.

1) Use the number on your card

For banks and credit card companies, the safest starting point is usually the number printed on the back of your physical card. You can also open the institution's official app and find its contact information there. Avoid relying on a phone number supplied by a search result, sponsored ad or voice assistant when your finances are involved.

2) Hang up when the conversation changes direction

A call to your credit card company should not suddenly require you to move money through an unrelated bank account. If the story starts getting complicated, hang up. Then contact the company again using a verified number.

3) Never move money to 'protect' your account

A scammer may claim your money needs to be transferred into another account to keep it safe. Do not do it. Bank of America warns that it will never ask customers to transfer money because fraud was detected on an account. The same caution applies if someone tells you to withdraw cash, buy gift cards or purchase cryptocurrency to resolve a banking problem.

4) Never return a surprise overpayment without verifying it

If someone says $1,000 accidentally became $100,000, stop. Do not transfer the supposed difference back. Contact your bank independently and ask it to verify your actual balance and transaction history.

5) Never share one-time security codes

Banks use one-time codes to confirm your identity or approve certain actions. A scammer may ask you to read one aloud while claiming it is needed to cancel fraud. Never give a verification code to someone who called you or someone you reached through an unverified number.

6) Do not install remote-access software for a stranger

If someone claiming to represent a bank or credit card company tells you to install software that lets them see or control your screen, end the call. Remote-access programs can give criminals enormous control over your computer. They may watch you log into your bank, move money between accounts or manipulate what appears on the screen.

7) Use strong antivirus software

Strong antivirus software can help protect you if a fake support representative sends you to a malicious website or convinces you to download a dangerous file. It can also warn you about phishing pages and other threats designed to steal passwords or financial information. 8) Turn on bank and credit card alerts

Set alerts for purchases, withdrawals and transfers so you know quickly when money moves. You should also enable notifications for suspicious logins and changes to your account information when your financial institution offers them. These alerts give you another chance to catch activity you did not authorize.

9) Use strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication

Your banking password should never be reused on another account. A password manager can create and store strong passwords so you do not have to remember them all. Also enable two-factor authentication whenever your bank supports it. An authenticator app or security key can provide stronger protection when available.

10) Verify unexpected account changes yourself

If someone tells you money suddenly appeared in your account, do not rely on what they show you. Close the session. Open your bank's official app yourself or type the bank's website address directly into your browser. Then check your transactions independently.

11) Report incorrect business information

If Siri or Apple Maps provides incorrect business information, you can report the listing to Apple. On an iPhone, open Maps > tap your picture or initials next to the search field > tap Reports > tap Report a New Issue > choose the appropriate option and follow the on-screen instructions. Fixing a bad listing may help prevent someone else from reaching the same number.

What to do if you already gave a scammer access

If you think a scammer got access to your financial information, act quickly.

End the contact

Hang up and stop responding to texts, emails or calls from the person. Do not use a callback number they provided.

Call your financial institution directly

Use the number on your card or inside the official app. Tell the fraud department exactly what happened. Ask whether any transfers, new payees or other account changes need to be stopped.

Lock or freeze affected accounts and cards

Virginia froze her Bank of America account as soon as she realized something was wrong. Your bank may also allow you to lock a debit or credit card instantly through its app.

Change exposed passwords

If you entered a password while the scammer could see your screen or you gave one away, change it from a trusted device. Change any other account that used the same or a similar password.

Remove remote-access software

If you installed a remote-control program at the scammer's direction, disconnect that computer from the internet. Remove the software and run a full antivirus scan before signing back into sensitive accounts. If you are unsure whether the device is clean, get help from a trusted computer professional before using it for banking again.

Check for changes to your accounts

Look for unfamiliar transactions, new payees and changes to your phone number or email address. Also check whether the scammer altered security settings or added a new device to the account.

Freeze your credit if sensitive information was exposed

If the scammer obtained your Social Security number or enough personal information to open accounts in your name, consider freezing your credit with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. A credit freeze can make it harder for a criminal to open new credit in your name.

Report the scam

Report financial fraud to your bank immediately. You can also file a report with the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If money was transferred, contact the financial institution involved as soon as possible. Some transactions become much harder to recover once they are completed.

Watch for follow-up scams

Criminals may contact victims again after the first attempt. Sometimes they pretend to be investigators, bank employees or recovery specialists who claim they can get your money back. Treat any unexpected follow-up contact with suspicion.

What sticks with me about Virginia's story is how ordinary the first move felt. She was trying to reach a company she already trusted and used Siri to save herself a little time. That tiny convenience nearly opened the door to a six-figure loss. Virginia also deserves credit for catching the moment when the story stopped making sense. A $1,000 credit becoming $100,000 was enough to make her question the person guiding her. That instinct protected her retirement. I also would not frame this as an age issue. Criminals succeed because they exploit trust in familiar technology and recognizable financial brands. Anyone can get caught when a call begins through a device they use every day. From now on, I would treat financial phone numbers almost like passwords. Verify them before you use them. The number on your physical card or inside the official banking app gives you a much stronger starting point than a search result or voice request.

'Very hot' coffee and tea linked to higher cancer risk in nearly 1 million adults

Regularly drinking very hot tea or coffee may raise the risk of a type of esophageal cancer, according to a large study at the University of Oxford.

People who reported drinking beverages "very hot" had about three times the risk of developing oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) – a type of cancer that begins in the cells lining the esophagus – compared to those who drank warm beverages.

Drinking six or more hot drinks per day was associated with a 71% higher risk of the disease. The same link was not seen for oesophageal adenocarcinoma (AC), a type of cancer that develops in the lower part of the oesophagus.

The study included nearly one million U.K. adults, making it the largest investigation of its kind to date, according to lead study author Keren Papier, a nutritional epidemiologist at the University of Oxford.

Roughly half of the participants were from the Million Women Study (MWS), who were followed for an average of 14 years, and the other half were from the UK Biobank (UKB), who were followed for 11 years.

"Compared with people who reported drinking their beverages ‘warm,’ those who drank them ‘hot’ had around a 1.7 times higher risk of SCC, while those who drank them ‘very hot’ had around a three times higher risk," Papier told Fox News Digital.

The study was published in the International Journal of Cancer.

The researchers estimated that, if the observed association reflects a true cause-and-effect relationship, about 14% of SCC cases could potentially be prevented if people drank beverages "hot" rather than "very hot."

The biggest limitation, according to the researchers, is that beverage temperatures were self-reported rather than directly measured. Because people's tolerance for heat differs, participants may have classified similar temperatures differently.

"A limitation of our study was that although we examined associations by self-reported preferred drink temperature, we did not have data on directly measured drink temperatures, and therefore cannot determine how self-reported drink temperature is likely to relate to absolute drink temperature," Papier noted.

"These findings don't mean people need to stop drinking tea or coffee – just let your drinks cool down a little before drinking them."

An outside cancer specialist agreed the findings are biologically plausible, but said they should be interpreted in context.

Dr. Aaron Sasson, chief of surgical oncology and co-director of the gastrointestinal oncology team at Stony Brook Cancer Center in New York, said it’s been known that drinking hot beverages or liquids can be irritating to the esophagus, and that it could contribute to the development of esophageal cancer.

The hotter the liquid, the higher the risk of a "thermal injury," the doctor told Fox News Digital.

"Similar to burning your hand – if you were to get a burn on your hand, you have an increased risk of getting squamous cell carcinoma of the hand, of the skin developing in the burned area," Sasson said. "So think of that as constantly repeating a burn to the esophagus."

The doctor reiterated that this study specifically looked at the risk of squamous carcinomas, not adenocarcinomas.

"In the United States, about 85% of all of our cancers are adenocarcinomas. So the incidence of squamous carcinomas in the esophagus is quite low, just to put it into perspective," he noted.

The lifetime risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus in the U.S. is less than 1%, the doctor said.

Sasson agreed that there was no "objective measurement" of the drinks’ temperature, which poses an unknown variable.

"If you are a heavy consumer of hot tea or coffee, maybe you'd want to cool it down a little bit," he advised. "But I think for practical purposes, for most people, [it’s] not the predominant risk factor for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus."

Smoking, heavy alcohol use, acid reflux and obesity are among the better-established risk factors for esophageal cancer, Sasson said.

"If you were to limit alcohol consumption and eliminate cigarette smoking, you will have done wonders for your esophagus."

Just 20 minutes before the first hijacked plane struck the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, the USS Cole's former commander made a chilling prediction inside CIA headquarters.

Speaking on the "Fox News Rundown" podcast commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11, retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold said the moment at Langley underscores a lesson he believes the nation cannot afford to forget.

Lippold said he had just finished a briefing with a senior CIA official about intelligence related to the USS Cole attack. When asked for his assessment, Lippold warned that it would likely take a catastrophic event on U.S. soil for the American people to recognize the threat.

"I said, 'I'm [going to] be honest with you, sir. America doesn't understand. On Oct. 12, 2000, two suicide bombers in a small boat pulled alongside the ship in Aden, Yemen, offering friendly gestures before detonating explosives in their boat alongside the Cole. Seventeen U.S. sailors were killed, and 37 others were injured in the blast, which ripped a hole near the ship's waterline.

"It really solidified to me the costs that if the United States does not react to the threat of terrorism and countries who support it, we will continue to pay a price in the future," Lippold said.

Sporting events are the great unifier, Part I

Before we get into the serious stuff, I'd like to go ahead and start with last night's blowout in Australia. The Rams looked lifeless. The Niners looked like a Super Bowl juggernaut (even though they refused to give Christian McCaffrey the ball).

The game, of course, was on Netflix, which means half the country couldn't find it. The setting itself was cool, but it felt ... weird.

Right?

Anyone else get that feeling?

The seats inside this giant stadium were miles away from the actual field. Could you imagine buying a ticket, and THIS is your view?

Yikes. You could hear the difference back here in the states, too. There was NO crowd pop. At all. Go back and listen to the Pats-Seahawks game from Wednesday, and then compare it to last night's crowd.

It sounds like a different sport.

Look, I know what the NFL and Roger Goodell is trying to do with these international games. I get it. Expand, expand, expand! These owners and commissioners, in every league, are just obsessed with expanding their reach.

But good Lord, can't we just keep the NFL in the US of A? Football doesn't need expansion. It's the most popular sport in America, by a wide margin. Why do we need to grow the game outside the country?

That side of the world doesn't need football. They have futbol. And they are FINE with it. We should be, too.

Keep the NFL in America. Enough of these international games. It's nonsense.

Sporting events are the great unifier, Part II

That's my biggest takeaway from last night's game. That was, clearly, the biggest takeaway from NFL fans back here in the states. Folks were DONE with it by halftime, and I don't blame them.

It's the same argument I have when these college teams go to a neutral site for a game. STOP it. You wanna know what makes college football great? The campus atmosphere. Quit going to these giant neutral site stadiums for big games.

And stop going overseas to play an NFL game. We appreciate it way more back home. Trust me.

Now, while the country was unified against the NFL's decision last night, we were unified in a much different way 15 years ago.

There are occasions, though, where our emotions take over. This day, every year, is one of those occasions.

I was in third grade when the towers were struck. I don't remember really anything from when I was 8. Bits and pieces, but not much.

I remember that day. Always have.

I remember our teacher putting the news on in our classroom. I remember school getting out early, because America was under attack and we had no idea who was next.

I remember coming home and walking into our living room, and my mom was watching NBC, on those GIANT, flimsy flat-screens from the late-90s, and just sobbing.

I remember having no idea what was happening. But also, at the same time, knowing something was very wrong.

Folks who were born pre and post-9/11 live two very different lives. I assume it's the same with the Kennedy assassination.

It's easy to forget who we were that day. How we responded. We've lost so much of that in 2026. Everyone is so angry, and so tense, and so combative.

I choose to remember how unified this country was in the days, weeks, months and years after those attacks.

Goodness, I hope we can get back to that one day. Sooner rather than later, preferably.

OK, let's get the morale back on track and rapid-fire this Friday class into a big football weekend. First up? Anyone see the 'Canes game last night?

Lordy. 77-7. Could've been 177-7, if Miami wanted it. Seriously. The Hurricanes were favored by 50, and somehow covered with ease. FAMU's team total was set at 0.5.

Yes. You read that right. Zero. Point. Five.

Because I'm a lunatic, I took that bet. And buddy, it was an ELECTRIC cash:

CHA-CHING! I've never been so locked in on a FAMU score in my life. I doubt I ever will be again.

Hat's off to the Rattlers for playing all four quarters.

Kamala Harris claims GOP 'cheating' ahead of midterms, says she's focused on stopping the 'madness'

Former Vice President Kamala Harris accused Republicans of "cheating" during an interview Thursday and said she was working to "stop the madness" by helping Democrats win the midterm elections.

"Midterms, midterms, midterms, full-time occupying my thoughts, my mind and my work," Harris said.

"We have to win these midterms. These — these folks are cheating. They're redrawing lines. They're trying to make it more difficult for people to vote so they won't vote because they are afraid of the power of the people.

"And, so, I'm spending full-time working on doing everything I can to help people restore some balance in our government, which is, through the midterms, winning back Congress, the House and the Senate so that we can stop the madness," Harris told former women's soccer star Megan Rapinoe on her podcast, "What Are You Like?"

Rapinoe asked Harris about what brought her back into political and public life.

Harris said she wanted to restore "some sense of sanity" and a functioning government.

"If Kamala Harris is upset Republicans are going after the illegals and fraudsters trying to vote, it makes you wonder if she's taking crazy pills again. Voter ID and proof of citizenship are common sense, but Democrats can’t win elections without cheating the system," RNC election integrity Communications Director Ally Triolo told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Rapinoe also asked the former vice president if she had made a decision about running in 2028.

Harris said during an interview last week with MS NOW's Peter Alexander that she even supported Democrats who don't want her on the campaign trail with them, because, she said, they need to do whatever it takes to win.

"Listen, Peter, we need to win, OK? Bottom line, we need to win," Harris said. "I have run locally, I’ve run for statewide office and, obviously, nationally. And these candidates know what they need to do to win, and I would expect nothing less.

"I look forward to being on the trail and helping folks where I can be helpful, but we have got to put a check on this lawless administration and deliver what Americans need and deserve. Lower costs, affordable healthcare, affordable childcare, you name it. So, I support them in doing whatever they need to do to win."

I definitely think those two are tied.

Texas man remembered by Fox News hosts after repeat offender arrested in savage park bench slaying

A 62-year-old Texas engineer with ties to multiple Fox News hosts was stabbed to death from behind in what authorities have described as a random attack on a park bench in Round Rock, Texas, and deputies have arrested a repeat offender who spent months in the local jail earlier this year.

Andrew James Wimsatt, of Austin, was killed on Sept. 7 — minutes after he sat down in the park after visiting his mother at a nursing home nearby, according to authorities.

Williamson County deputies have arrested a 26-year-old local man named Benedict Chinedu Ogbodiegwu on murder and theft charges.

The murder was recorded on surveillance video, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.

A man identified as Wimsatt sat down on a park bench at around 11 a.m., authorities said. A few minutes later, another man, alleged to be Ogbodiegwu, grabbed him from behind and repeatedly drove a knife into his neck.

The victim struggled but was unable to push his attacker away as the stabbing continued, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Fox 7 Austin. The suspect then wiped the blood off on his shirt and walked out of view.

Wimsatt, who had a Ph.D. in civil engineering, is credited on IMDB as an executive producer of the Penn Jillette horror/comedy "Director's Cut." He worked for the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, staying on part-time even after retiring, and had an Instagram account filled with photos of wildlife, vintage storefronts and city landscapes.

He also had ties to several Fox News personalities.

"The crime, to me, is so heinous and shocking that I’m still trying to comprehend it," Greg Gutfeld said Friday. "I may never."

They first met when Wimsatt became a fan of a former show, "Red Eye," Gutfeld said. The engineer would clip segments from the show and attend his live events.

"At first, I was suspicious, because I always assume people do things because they want things," he told Fox News Digital. "I was wrong with Andrew. He did stuff for people — lots of people — because he enjoyed being of service, and promoting stuff that he genuinely enjoys and believes in."

Kat Timpf called him a "fan who became a friend" — a friend not only to her, but also to her family. They had lunch in Fort Worth in June, and she said she was expecting to see him at a show in Nevada later this month.

"He was so kind and generous it almost seems impossible," she told Fox News Digital Friday. "He always supported me... whether that was sending me clips I wanted to post or offering truly helpful words of encouragement during the times throughout my career that the internet was piling on me."

They spoke regularly — one a week or more for years — and he became known for sending TV clips to members of the "Gutfeld!" cast.

"Whenever the rest of the internet was making me feel hopeless about the state of the world, I could always count on a message from Andrew to remind me of the good that's out there, too," Timpf said.

Wimsatt attended Tyrus' standup shows as well.

"[He] took care of his mother… always positive… he was kind man, 62 years old fragile looking but had a monster laugh," Tyrus said in a statement. "I was honored to know him I was honored he cared so much and honored that my jokes and thoughts brought him joy."

On Labor Day, a witness called 911 after finding Wimsatt on the ground in the park, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Investigators were able to retrace the suspect's steps and allegedly recovered prints and other evidence, including bloody clothes and the suspected murder weapon, according to the affidavit. When confronted with video evidence, Ogbodiegwu allegedly claimed he had a twin brother but could not provide his name.

Ogbodiegwu has a criminal record in Williamson County going back to at least 2017, when he was charged with stealing. He had two prior arrests this year, on charges involving theft and carrying fake identification.

Prior to his arrest in connection with Wimsatt's murder, he was most recently released from the county jail on June 9. He had also been incarcerated between January and April.

He's being held on $1 million bond. His next court date is on Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m., for a pre-indictment docket call.

"He was a kind, generous man, nearly beheaded in a park on a sunny morning, for no reason, just because," Gutfeld said. "I believe everyone who allowed the person who killed him to roam free like that, deserve severe accountability."

California woman chased, fatally shot by illegal immigrant DoorDash driver who stalked her for months: DHS

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said a California woman was fatally shot outside a Sacramento County Panera Bread Tuesday by an illegal immigrant who had stalked her for months and was subject to a restraining order.

Shalini Thakur, 38, was standing near her car when Rohit Rohit, an illegal immigrant from India, approached her, chased her when she tried to flee and shot her in the head before getting in a car and driving away, DHS said.

Responding police officers caught up to him, but Rohit took his own life with a gun, according to authorities.

"This tragedy would have been completely avoided if it weren’t for the Biden administration RELEASING this killer into our country," a DHS spokesperson said.

Rohit spent months stalking Thakur, who was eventually granted a restraining order. Thakur said she knew Rohit as a DoorDash delivery driver who would park outside her home for hours and talk to her on a daily basis, ABC 10 reported.

Rohit had stalked Thakur since at least January, when she found an Apple AirTag under the hood of her car.

At one point, he tried to coerce her into marriage and prevented her from socializing with others, the news report said. He also allegedly threatened to shoot himself or anyone she met.

Rohit later deflated her car tires and followed her to work so he could pretend to offer her help, authorities said. At one point, Rohit allegedly obtained a copy of Thakur's apartment key so he could enter her home while she slept.

Even after she got a restraining order against Rohit in May, he continued to stalk her as recently as July.

"She could have been saved. She told police so many times," Thakur’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, told the news outlet. "She called them, but nobody did anything."

Rohit illegally entered the United States through Arizona in August 2023 and was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol. He was released as part of the Biden administration's policy to let migrants into the U.S. after they were given a court date to appear before a judge.

DoorDash did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Dolly Parton could soon have major airport named in her honor after unanimous vote

Nashville International Airport is one step closer to undergoing a name change honoring late country music icon Dolly Parton.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously, 6-0, Friday to begin the process of modifying the airport's name in Parton's honor, according to a statement from the authority.

The decision on the final name is still to come.

"While a final name has not yet been determined, we are working closely with the appropriate parties to thoughtfully determine how Dolly Parton's name and legacy will be incorporated," the airport authority said.

Officials stressed that the vote marks only the beginning of the process with more details expected in the coming months.

"This vote represents the first step in a multifaceted process," the airport authority said. "In the coming months, we anticipate having more definitive plans to share regarding the next steps and implementation."

The vote follows an earlier push to honor Parton at the airport after the Tennessee native died at age 80 last month.

Fox News Digital previously reported that Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announced plans in August to pursue naming the airport in Parton's honor.

Lee said at the time that he had spoken with Parton's team about the proposal and that her representatives were appreciative of the support and open to further discussions.

The effort also gained significant public support, with a petition calling for the airport to be renamed "Dolly Parton International Airport" drawing more than 155,000 verified signatures at the time of Fox News Digital's previous report.

Parton had deep ties to Tennessee throughout her life. She became one of the state's most recognizable figures through her music, philanthropy and Imagination Library literacy program.

The singer had previously resisted another effort to formally honor her in her home state.

In 2021, Parton asked Tennessee lawmakers to withdraw legislation that would have allowed a statue of her to be erected on the grounds of the state Capitol.

She did, however, leave open the possibility of such an honor in the future.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., were lambasted Friday for appearing to share a moment of levity at the 9/11 Memorial in lower Manhattan during the solemn reading-of-the-names of victims.

Mamdani was already facing criticism from some 9/11 victims’ families over his attendance when a television feed showing the reading of victims’ names cut from a young man sobbing at the memorial to the mayor and congresswoman appearing to grin and laugh as they spoke, though their conversation was inaudible.

"Disgraceful," said Steve Guest, a former top staffer for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. "AOC and Mamdani look happy."

"They always show us who they really are," another critic on X said.

Others critics were more direct.

"The camera just caught her greeting him hello. Multiple other politicians were laughing and joking behind me. Republicans and Democrats."

The Pittsburgh Republican Committee suggested on X that the sight was one of the reasons 9/11 victims families didn’t want the mayor there, while former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt also sounded off.

"While normal Americans cry, commie Mamdani and AOC laugh it up at the 9/11 memorial in New York," Pratt said.

"They hate you. They hate your country. They enjoy your misery. We cannot allow these people to have power."

A New York City lawmaker added that she was outraged to see Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez acting that way.

"After thousands of families of victims of terror beg Mamdani not to show up, he stands there and laughs while families weep," said Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, R-Brighton Beach. "This is NYC’s Mayor."

RETIRED PORT AUTHORITY OFFICERS TELL MAMDANI, HOCHUL TO STAY AWAY FROM GROUND ZERO ON 9/11

Richard Sementa, better known as "Mr. Producer" for Mark Levin’s national radio show, tweeted, "Un-freaking believable."

Juanita Broaddrick called Mamdani and AOC "two disgusting degenerates" on X.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., who continues to criticize democratic socialists and opponents of Israel, called the mayor "Jihad Mamdani" and said he and the congresswoman should not be anywhere near Ground Zero.

"They do not mourn this country, they mock it," he tweeted. "Have some damn respect."

"As the names of Americans murdered on September 11th are read aloud at Ground Zero, AOC and Mamdani are laughing and smiling together," said Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas.

"There is a time and a place for politics. This isn’t it. Ground Zero is sacred ground."

"September 11 is not a photo op, it is not a networking event," said Hunt.

Separately, Mamdani was seen at other points standing somberly between New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and New York first gentleman William Hochul Jr.

But critics continued pointing out what one called the "jarring split-screen" of the mayor joking around with Ocasio-Cortez a split-second after the mourner was seen sobbing over the shadow "fountain" at the footprint of the Twin Towers.

"What exactly is funny?" former Trump White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson asked.

DAVID MARCUS: As Democrats protest in Dallas, conservatives are quiet and cautious

On Thursday afternoon, former Democratic Party superstar Beto O’Rourke headlined a protest at Dallas City Hall that drew about 300 angry, loud Democrats and socialists convinced that in fighting against President Donald Trump and the GOP, they are saving America from fascism.

At the entrance to the event was a man holding a sign that read "MAGA = Fascist," complete with a swastika on it. And that was one of the nicer sentiments expressed in the homage signage seen around the event.

"I can’t stand the man. You cannot be a Christian while following that man," said Bonnie, an activist in her 60s, when asked why Trump provoked so much outright hatred.

And it wasn’t just Trump. When asked about more generic Republicans like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, or Sen. John Thune, R-N.D., Bonnie said, "If they allow him to do what he’s doing, they’re all in the same boat."

Rick, also post-retirement age, held a sign that read, "Conservatives Against Trump," and described his values as "small, limited government, a strong national defense and fiscal responsibility."

Asked whether he was concerned that the leftward lurch of the Democrats also threatened those centrist principles, Rick replied, "Clearly, both parties, both major parties, have become polarized."

From the stage came vitriol about everything from Jeffrey Epstein to data centers in the form of both speeches and song, while a small counterprotest was held at bay by Dallas police.

The theme of fascism was present on so many of the signs that I eventually asked one protester what they meant by the term, to which he simply replied, "If you don’t know then I can’t help you," which was not particularly clarifying.

The vocal zeal with which these protesters and other Democrats I met in Dallas denounce all things Republican stands in stark contrast with many of the conservatives I spoke to in the city, who, notwithstanding living in red Texas, tend to be a bit shy about their beliefs.

"At my son’s school, and around some friends, I just don’t bring up that I support Trump. It's just not worth it," said one woman, who asked to remain anonymous.

She also told me of friends she has who send out two sets of Christmas cards each year, one MAGA themed and one not. She now receives the former each holiday season.

Another man, who works in the service industry, said, "I can’t tell anyone at work that I like Trump. So, when it comes up, I just say that I’m a Bill Maher-style centrist." At least in his mind, that is as far to the right as he can publicly be without it causing problems.

It all reminded me of a young woman who I met last year who told me after we chatted that she didn’t know any conservatives and was surprised I was so nice. I asked her, "Do you have any guy friends who never ever talk about politics?"

She said, "Yes," to which I replied, "Yeah, they’re conservative."

I immediately felt a twinge of regret for outing them.

When Ronald Reagan was winning elections, pundits described his supporters as a silent majority; today, what we have may be something closer to a silenced majority, as conservatives hide their identities to avoid conflict.

This is a trend that I have discovered all across the country over the past few years: Praise of Trump seems always to come in a quiet whisper, criticism often loud enough for an entire room to hear.

One has to wonder, at a time when polling consistently overestimates support for Democrats, if this shy Trump voter phenomenon might be in play. After all, people trained to keep quiet about their politics may not be eager to respond to polls.

Many local Republican voters I spoke with are very nervous that this could be the year that Democrats finally flip Texas. But, in fairness, while they see myriad outward displays of affection for Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico, they may have no idea that their friend supports GOP candidate Ken Paxton.

The challenge for the Republican Party in this midterm cycle is to make sure that the Trump supporters who don’t want to admit it out loud will still show up to vote, making a difference despite their silence.

At Ground Zero, 9/11 families turn to Trump as Obama’s old decision resurfaces

On a cloudy morning at the site where two sprawling towers once stood, the loved ones of New Yorkers killed on 9/11 gathered with a message for President Donald Trump: Release the unredacted files they believe could implicate Saudi Arabia.

Vice President JD Vance attended the ceremony alongside former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Bill Clinton, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo were also among those in attendance.

The message was delivered on the main stage by Terry Strada, whose husband, Tom, was killed in the attacks. Speaking from the memorial stage, Strada accused successive administrations of protecting Saudi Arabia instead of supporting the 9/11 families.

Strada called out President Barack Obama, who was at the memorial, for vetoing the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, or JASTA, in 2016. Congress later overrode the veto, allowing 9/11 families to sue Saudi Arabia over its alleged role in the attacks.

"Administration after administration, including leaders in front of us here today, chose to protect the Saudis instead of standing with the 9/11 families," Strada said. "They withheld evidence. They vetoed JASTA. They broke promises, both public and private. It has been one betrayal after another.

"President Trump can still change that"

She urged the president to tell Saudi leaders "that if they want to be friends with the USA, they cannot continue to deny all of this, all of the pain, all of the destruction that we have all been suffering through."

"Please carry that message back," another speaker said, addressing Vance. "Stand with the families. Stand with the survivors."

The remarks drew applause from the crowd.

"Administration after administration has not done anything for us. In fact, they've blocked, blocked us every step of the way of getting justice," Dennis McGinley, whose older brother Danny worked on the 89th floor of the South Tower, told Fox News Digital.

"President Trump has a unique, historic opportunity here to be a hero, be our champion, finally close the books on this American nightmare, which is now becoming an American embarrassment. It's got to start."

The appeal came as families marked the 25th anniversary of the attacks with a renewed push for accountability from Saudi Arabia, which they accuse of helping two of the hijackers establish themselves in the United States. The kingdom has repeatedly denied involvement.

The families’ claims center on Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national who helped hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar obtain an apartment in San Diego, and Fahad al-Thumairy, an accredited Saudi diplomat and imam at the King Fahd Mosque in California who had numerous contacts with al-Bayoumi.

The 9/11 Commission documented the men’s connections but did not conclude that the Saudi government or senior Saudi officials supported the plot. Its report also said investigators found no evidence that another Saudi national, Osama Bassnan, gave money to the hijackers.

Newly released investigative material and evidence presented in a long-running civil case have intensified scrutiny of those connections. In August 2025, U.S. District Judge George Daniels allowed claims against Saudi Arabia to proceed, finding that the families had presented enough evidence to move toward trial. The ruling did not determine that Saudi Arabia was responsible for the attacks.

The families say that legal ruling, along with additional FBI and British intelligence material, gives Trump an opportunity to release more records and help resolve what they view as a 25-year-old betrayal.

SON WHO LOST FATHER IN 9/11 ATTACKS SHARES POWERFUL LESSONS 25 YEARS LATER: ‘I’M STILL HERE’

For Passananti, the demand was inseparable from his own loss. His father, Horace Robert Passananti, was working on the 100th floor of the North Tower. Passananti was 32 when he called his father after hearing that a plane had struck the building.

He never heard from him again.

Passananti said he has attended the ceremony every year but one since the attacks.

"I wish I wasn’t here, obviously, but I feel like I have to be here every year," he told Fox News Digital.

Passananti, who is affiliated with the group 9/11 Justice, said families want those responsible for the attacks held accountable.

"We’ve really been on our own — the families — trying to obtain evidence," Passananti said. "We’ve gotten really no help from our government. We feel like they’ve put Saudi Arabia ahead of the 9/11 families, and we’re hoping that will change."

He described the delays in the case as "a twilight zone."

"It feels really like a twilight zone and unbelievable that we have to fight for justice for the worst terrorist attack that ever happened on our soil," Passananti said. "It doesn’t feel real. It’s unexplainable."

Trump has previously acknowledged that questions remain unanswered about the attacks. In 2022, while defending his decision to host a Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament at his New Jersey club amid protests from 9/11 families, Trump said, "Nobody has gotten to the bottom of 9/11."

But Trump has not publicly said whether he supports releasing additional files concerning Saudi Arabia’s alleged ties to the hijackers.

McGinley worked across the Hudson River and called his brother after seeing the first plane hit, believing it was a small aircraft. His brother told him it was a passenger jet and described seeing people jumping from the neighboring tower. McGinley asked Danny if he was evacuating, and he said he'd been told to remain in place just before the South Tower was hit.

McGinley never spoke to him again.

"It is like the wound never healed, and every year we get salt poured back into that wound," McGinley said.

The families’ calls for answers extended beyond those killed on the day of the attacks. Relatives of first responders who later died from cancer and other illnesses linked to toxic exposure also gathered at the memorial to honor their loved ones.

Jen Nilsen, whose husband died in the attacks, said the pain remains as strong as ever 25 years later.

"It doesn’t change at the 25th year," Nilsen said. "The pain is still there."

Nilsen said she returns to the memorial because "this is where he is."

Her message to younger generations was simple.

I had a disastrous start to the NCAA College Football season, but the NFL has given us two solid victories. I hit a first touchdown scorer play yesterday as well, but of course, I didn't add it to the article. Today we still have football, but it is college football, and to be honest, I'm not overly interested in those games. Instead, I'm going to stick with baseball, which has funded a lot of my football bets this season and in previous years. We are nearing just two weeks remaining in the season, and teams still have a lot to play for, including the Astros and Rays.

Believe it or not, the Houston Astros are still one of the better teams in the league. It seems almost impossible that the Astros could be winning games, considering they've traded away or let so many guys walk in free agency. They have had issues with injuries, and their pitching staff is one of the least exciting in baseball. They've tried with a variety of guys, but with a team ERA of 4.52 and a WHIP of 1.35, there isn't much to be excited about when it comes to their rotation.

They did call up Miguel Ullola, who takes the ball today for the Astros. He is really more of a reliever than a starter. His last appearance was on Sunday, and he threw one inning, allowing one hit and a strikeout against the Diamondbacks. I'm not quite sure how deep into this game he will go, but he's never pitched more than two innings in a stint in his career, so my guess is that it won't be overly deep. Collectively, the Astros have the 17th-ranked bullpen in baseball with an ERA of 4.11.

The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the best teams in baseball and have a solid chance to win 95+ games this season. They are currently in control of their own destiny and have a three-game lead over the New York Yankees. The question about this team is mostly about how they will perform in the postseason, not if they are going to make it. There is still some question about the Astros getting into the postseason, for comparison. This series also holds a little bit more excitement as the leading MVP candidates take each other on. Junior Caminero and Yordan Alvarez are jockeying for the award and have fairly similar statistics.

One guy who has been having a great season but doesn't seem to be getting any Cy Young buzz is tonight's starter, Drew Rasmussen. For the season, Rasmussen is 14-5 with a 2.88 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP. Rasmussen's WHIP is sitting at third in the Majors, and his ERA is 12th. He's a great option to be a front-of-the-rotation starter for the Rays when they start the playoffs. He has been solid at home this season with a 3.22 home ERA. It is worth noting that his worst starts this season did come at home, though. Astros hitters have done well against him in the past, hitting .307 over 75 at-bats.

One of Rasmussen's worst starts did come against the Astros, on the road, allowing five earned runs over five innings. Maybe it was something with his mechanics, as he allowed six in the next start to the Yankees. That's 11 earned runs in two games when he has allowed 38 over his other 25 starts. However, the Astros have hit him very well. I feel like the Astros could be live dogs on that one, but I think the over 7.5 makes more sense. The Astros bullpen isn't reliable, and if you're betting against Rasmussen with any team, the Astros seem like a good one.

Yesterday, I had just one game that I took on in Major League Baseball. We had the Rangers and Mariners game with Jacob deGrom and Logan Gilbert pitching for their squads. I ended up taking the over, and it cashed, but the Rangers lost the game. The good news is that the Rangers were at plus money, so there was no loss of funds, but it was a 1-1 take on the game. Today we shift across the country for a Subway Series between the Mets and the Yankees.

The New York Mets are wrapping up what has been a disaster of a season. They are very likely to finish the year under .500 and go into the offseason searching for answers after another lost season. To their credit, it isn't like the team is trying nothing and hoping for different results. They go out after big-name players, and for whatever reason, it doesn't work. In the last two years alone, they've signed Juan Soto, Bo Bichette, and Freddy Peralta. Any franchise would be happy to get those additions to its roster.

Unfortunately, the team just hasn't been able to get much to click for them. They've traded away Peralta, and they traded another addition they had in Luis Robert Jr. One of the few bright spots this season is taking the ball today, as Nolan McLean toes the rubber. For the year, McLean is a strong 11-8 with a 3.06 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. He has also racked up 179 strikeouts, good for 14th in baseball. He looks like a front-of-the-line starter and is just 25 years old. He has only faced two Yankees hitters in his career, and they are a combined 0-for-6 against him.

The New York Yankees are not having a disaster season. They are actually having a really good campaign and continuing to fight for the best record in the American League. At the moment, they are three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays, but with 16 games remaining, there is still a little time to catch them. They also recently got back their leader, Aaron Judge, who will give them another push before the playoffs begin. He has only played two games, but looked solid in his last one, going 2-for-4.

Tonight, the Yankees turn to another player who was injured but has helped out since returning. Starter Carlos Rodon is pitching with a 5-3 record and a 3.09 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Rodon could be a major difference-maker in the postseason. His presence could give the team four solid pitchers in the rotation to take on any team. They are not having him go overly deep into games, and since he came back in August, he has allowed five earned runs over 17.2 innings. A typical outing from him this season is allowing two or fewer runs over five or fewer innings.

Rodon has faced the Mets once before and allowed two earned runs over 3.2 innings. The Yankees lost that game. I think this is a good opportunity for the Mets to steal another one from the Yankees, but I'm only backing them through five innings. I don't believe in the Mets' bullpen, but I think they have an advantage with McLean on the mound. Give me the Mets through five.

Massive bears square up in Alaska

ABC News shared a video on Instagram this week of two massive bears in a tense standoff in Alaska.

"A tour guide in Alaska was startled when two bears began fighting over a prime fishing spot at Lake Clark National Park," the caption states.

Whiskey Riff reported the bears captured in the video are Alaskan brown bears, which can be significantly bigger than a standard grizzly.

This video perfectly sums up the impressive awe of nature and the fact it can also be insanely dangerous. Imagine being a human and getting in between those two beasts.

I don't care how tough or strong anyone thinks they are. I can guarantee you that there's no human on the planet who is going toe-to-toe with an Alaskan brown bear and coming out the winner.

It's simply not happening, especially once you realize an adult male can easily weigh more than 1,200 pounds.

Kansas renews Border War rivalry with Missouri by calling Tigers 'evil,' invoking slavery imagery

You all know I'm a sucker for college football rivalries.

I even wrote about some of my favorite rivalries in the sport that are no longer annual contests, and one of the games that ended up on that list was Kansas vs. Missouri, so you can imagine my excitement when it was announced that these two foes would be going at it once more.

The Border War, as it was known until 2004, dates back to 1891 and features the kind of hatred and bad blood that makes college football rivalries hit differently than any other sport.

That hatred was on full display thanks to a new hype video the Jayhawks dropped on social media earlier this week in anticipation for Friday's showdown, and, if we are being honest, they might have taken things just a bit too far.

Listen, I'm all for animus in college football rivalries but calling Mizzou evil because Missouri was a slave state 160 years ago feels a bit much, don't you think?

I love how they had to officially change the name from Border War to Border Showdown so as not to invoke images of armed conflict, but here comes the Kansas social media team saying, "Hey, remember the Civil War? Well, our opponent was on the side that wanted to keep using slaves."

That's painting with a bit of a broad brush, if you ask me.

Also, no one at the University of Missouri, be they students, faculty, or otherwise, were even alive at the time of the Civil War, so I'm not sure it's very polite or even correct to call them all "evil."

Most of the Mizzou players featured in Kansas's hype video are black, too, and I can assure you they didn't commit to the Tigers because they're pro slavery.

And the final cherry on top of this embarrassment sundae is that Metro Boomin, the producer for the song "Superhero (Heroes & Villains)" used in the video, is from, you guessed it, Missouri. (St. Louis.)

The usual suspects say that Sophie Cunningham, a role player, is more popular than some of the WNBA’s best players because of "white privilege." But that is not true.

Since Caitlin Clark’s rookie season, several WNBA players have used the increased spotlight to exhibit bratty behavior, entitlement, and racial hysteria. By contrast, Cunningham has embraced the moment. She’s entertaining, humorous, resilient, and gorgeous.

Colin Cowherd interviewed Cunningham this week on his Volume podcast network, of which she is a part, and noticed a difference between her and the many other athletes he has interviewed.

Contrast Cunningham’s response with Angel Reese’s. Last month, Reese called herself "beautiful" multiple times and bragged that she looks good in a bikini. She then accused internet users of "sexualizing" her in the comments beneath those photos.

Many WNBA players want to be seen as sex symbols but then complain about the perception of such. Cunningham, meanwhile, has no issue with the narrative.

Nor should she.

"For me, the reason why I really lean into that is, first of all, I've always been super girly. Since a little girl, I've always loved to dress up. I love dresses. I love high heels. I love all of that," Cunningham explained.

"For some reason, our society, if you play basketball, you can't dress that way, or you can't be girly. No one's ever said it, but it's like, they kind of feel that you can't be both. Screw all that. Yes, you can. You can be girly, and you can go out and kick someone's ass."

Mamdani draws fury from 9/11 mourners over Ground Zero appearance: ‘Disrespectful’

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s presence at Friday’s 9/11 remembrance at Ground Zero drew criticism from some in the city, including one former police officer who said the mayor "probably should have skipped it" and another mourner who called his appearance "disrespectful" and "very offensive."

Mamdani has faced criticism over his associations with controversial political and online figures, as well as his decision to appoint Ramzi Kassem as his administration’s chief counsel. Kassem previously represented a Guantánamo detainee linked to an al Qaeda terrorist plot.

Former New York Republican Gov. George Pataki, 9/11-era FDNY Commissioner Thomas von Essen and others called on Mamdani to skip the ceremony.

"He showed up anyway. It does bother us," Walter Matuza, whose father Walter was killed that day, told Fox News Digital.

Matuza said he was part of the group of victims’ families that initiated the petition to keep Mamdani away.

"Based on the rhetoric that he's used in the past. Yeah, he probably should have skipped it," Mike said of Mamdani.

He added that Mamdani’s appointment of Kassem also troubled him, saying the mayor could’ve handled the situation in a "whole different way."

The petition had garnered more than 110,000 signatures at the time, according to the petition’s tally.

Steven called Kassem’s appointment "hideous" and added that the youngest generation who does not remember or did not live through 9/11 are suffering from "incorrect information" and do not understand the reality of the terror attack.

He said he will educate his children on 9/11 so that they do not go down the same ideological road.

Attendee John told Fox News Digital that Mamdani does have a right to attend.

John said he lost friends including at now-Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s Cantor-Fitzgerald firm – which lost more than 650 people; the most of any company in the Twin Towers that day – and that as long as Mamdani is respectful to the fallen Americans being remembered, he is "fine" with the Democrat attending.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani for comment.

In a prior statement, the mayor said he is proud of New York and "love[s] this city [and] country."

"[W]hat I want this week to be a focus on is on the families whose loved ones were stolen from them 25 years ago in the horrific act of terror of September 11, and a focus also on the first responders who gave everything they could to this city and to the people who came together to try and help their fellow New Yorkers."

During the ceremony, footage captured Mamdani approaching and greeting his 9/11-era predecessor, Republican Rudolph Giuliani.

The two could be seen appearing to exchange brief pleasantries before Giuliani turned and sat down and an aide began speaking to the incumbent mayor.

Fists were flying Wednesday night at Lumen Field in Seattle when a massive fight broke out between one Patriots fan and multiple Seahawks fans who threw punches at the outnumbered visitor. After the dust cleared, the Patriots fan was in handcuffs and eyewitnesses were alleging that this was all over the Pats fan trying to sit in the wrong seat.

"I was right there, it wasnt a race thing. The Pats fan and his nasty ass girl were in someone else's seats," a Seattle fan, who goes by Hawkaholic12, wrote on X. "When the rightful owner of those seats asked him to get out of THEIR seats the Pats fan kept talking crap and touching the guys chin. The Pats fan also SHOVED a Sr citizen."

Another fan on X, JoeGurt, seemed to paint the same scenario that led to the fight. "It started over seats. A Patriots fan sat in empty ones that weren’t his in section 314," Gurt wrote. "Stadium ushers told him to move and he refused. When security arrived, he collided with (or knocked over) a stadium staffer. One Seahawks fan then tried to shove him out of the section, and the whole thing exploded into a multi-person brawl. Police ended up walking him out in cuffs."

Now, in typical sporting event fight fashion, there's always a loud girlfriend or wife in the middle of the action claiming that her man was never in the wrong. In this case, the wife or girlfriend seems to claim that a Seahawks fan used the "N" word. She's then seen right in the middle of the action as her man attempts to fight an entire section of Seattle fans.

49ers star Christian McCaffrey recalls hilarious 'cracker' compliment with Australian barber

For Christian McCaffrey, the San Francisco 49ers’ trip to Australia was quite the learning experience, as he found that words and sayings are a lot different Down Under.

McCaffrey, 30, revealed a hilarious interaction he had with a barber while getting a haircut.

"I was getting a haircut a few days ago and one of the barbers looks at me and says, ‘Looks cracker,'" McCaffrey said during his postgame press conference.

US warns Americans to stay vigilant as terror risk looms at major vacation hot spot

Americans are being warned to exercise increased caution when traveling to one of Europe's most popular tourist destinations amid multiple terrorism-related arrests in recent months.

The State Department updated its "Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution" travel advisory for Italy on Thursday — keeping the country at the same advisory level while revising its summary.

Italy draws millions of visitors with its beaches, quaint villages and iconic ancient Roman landmarks.

But despite its appeal to tourists, the State Department is warning travelers to remain vigilant due to the threat of terrorism.

"There is risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activity in Italy," the advisory said.

While the threat of terrorism in Italy may receive less attention than in other parts of Europe, authorities have made several terrorism-related arrests in recent months.

In August, Italian news agency ANSA reported that a 16-year-old in northern Italy was arrested on international terrorism-related charges after investigators said he had spread jihadist and pro-ISIS material online.

In a separate incident in June, another 16-year-old near Bologna was arrested after authorities allegedly found jihadist material and weapons-making manuals in his possession.

The State Department advisory noted that petty crime is also a significant concern in Italy, especially "in popular tourist locations and on public transportation, including trains."

"Stay aware of your surroundings," officials said.

"Most crimes against foreigners are crimes of opportunity, like purse snatching, pickpocketing, and car break-ins."

Americans who decide to travel to Italy are urged to monitor local media for breaking news and "stay alert in tourist spots."
