Selma Blair says 'no one returned my calls' after anti-Islam comment led to Hollywood fallout

The actress said she lost numerous opportunities, including a Super Bowl ad deal, within days

Actress Selma Blair said "no one returned my calls" after an anti-Islam Instagram comment she posted amid the Israel-Hamas war in February 2024 cost her representation, brand deals and friendships.

Her remarks come more than two years after Blair attacked then-Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and current Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., in a now-deleted comment over their votes against legislation that would bar people involved in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel from entering the United States.

"Deport all these terrorist supporting goons," Blair’s reply to a post made by immigration reform advocate Abraham Hamra said in-part, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Islam has destroyed Muslim countries and then they come here and destroyed minds. They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they meet their fate.""

PEREZ HILTON JOINS 'TOMI LAHREN IS FEARLESS' AND DECLARES CANCEL CULTURE IS NOW A SPORT

Although Blair apologized shortly after the comment drew backlash, she said she lost friends, brand deals and payment connected to a Super Bowl advertisement in the fallout.

"The brands I worked with were gone within a day," Blair said at the Anti-Defamation League's State of the Arts reception at The Jewish Museum in New York on Thursday.

PINK HITS BACK AMID BACKLASH FOR CRITICIZING MACKLEMORE'S PRO-PALESTINIAN CONCERT REMARKS

"A few partnerships I’d spent years building were shelved. My agency was gone. My lawyer was gone. My publicist was gone. My book agent was gone. My book publicist was gone. My social media manager was gone," she continued. Blair added, "No one returned my calls."

Blair said she apologized "right away" for a February 2024 online comment and refused to let it define her. She added that she has rebuilt her career since her multiple sclerosis diagnosis and is "not up here for sympathy."

LIBERAL LAWMAKERS, ACTIVISTS RALLY BEHIND MACKLEMORE AFTER SHEERAN TOUR REMOVAL OVER 'FREE PALESTINE' STANCE

Referring to the apology, Blair added, "I meant it then, and I mean it now, and I’m leaving the comment there, because the comment was not the story." "I have a team now I’d walk through fire with. It’s small, and it is my team. I want you to know that before I tell you the part that isn’t better. It left a mark."

The Jewish actress went on to explain the traumatic mark the ordeal left on her and her family, noting that the incident impacted not only her — but also her son.

ANTISEMITIC VIOLENCE REACHES DEADLIEST LEVEL SINCE 1994, NEW GLOBAL REPORT FINDS

"The fear got into me, and fear is contagious in a house," she said. "The boy in that Christmas photograph watched his mother get scared of the world. A boy who had already watched his mother go through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, not knowing if she was coming back to him. He's a teenager now. He's supposed to be embarrassed by me, not frightened for me. Careers come back. Years of his childhood do not."

Blair then pointed to - but did not directly name - the recent controversy involving rapper Macklemore's removal from Ed Sheeran's U.S. tour after venues objected to Macklemore remaining on the lineup following his anti-Israel remarks. She also referenced actor Javier Bardem’s petition for a petition calling for singer Pink to be removed as a UNICEF ambassador.

ED SHEERAN SAYS HE TRIED TO ‘BUILD A BRIDGE’ OVER MACKLEMORE TOUR SPOT BEFORE VENUES SAID NO

"A couple of weeks ago, of course, a movie star used his platform to push a petition against an artist who has spent more than a decade raising money for children. Her crime was objecting, out loud, when another performer railed against Israel from a stage. She didn’t ask for anyone to lose anything. Not a job, not a stage, nothing. She said what she thought," Blair said.

"And for saying what she thought, a movie star spent his week trying to get her canceled," she continued. "This is what it looks like when we lose our humanity. A woman who raises money for children stops being a person and becomes a target, and the people cheering can’t see her anymore. They only see a side."

ED SHEERAN APOLOGIZES FOR MACKLEMORE BACKLASH, ENCOURAGES UNITY AT FIRST CONCERT SINCE FALLOUT

Blair has joined the cast of the upcoming film "Schmoolie the Deathwatcher," and on Thursday she announced that she is making a documentary about antisemitism titled "Hineni," which she translated as "Here I am."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

"Antisemitism has to stop," Blair told the audience. "Not be managed. Not be explained. Not be weighed against something else. Stop. Two years ago the phone stopped. Tonight I’m the one talking, in a room full of my own people, saying the thing out loud. I’m a Jew. I’m still here. Hineni."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Fox News Digital reached out to Blair for comment.

Zach Bryan sparks debate after wearing 'Free Palestine' shirt at venue that barred Macklemore

The move comes weeks after Kraft barred Macklemore from the venue over what he called antisemitic rhetoric

Zach Bryan made his position known without saying a word.

The country music superstar walked onto the stage at Gillette Stadium Friday night wearing a shirt that read "Free Palestine."

His shirt appeared to some to be a pointed message at the venue owned by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who recently barred Macklemore from performing at the stadium over what Kraft described as the rapper's "broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery."

ED SHEERAN CONCERTGOERS WARN ARTISTS ABOUT SHARING POLITICAL VIEWS: 'YOU'RE GOING TO ALIENATE' FANS

Members of Bryan's band also appeared to wear clothing supporting the Palestinian cause.

Bryan is scheduled to return to Gillette Stadium Saturday night for the second show of his two-night run.

Bryan's shirt immediately ignited a debate online, with social media users split over whether the singer was making a courageous political statement or bringing politics into a concert where fans simply came to hear music.

ED SHEERAN SAYS HE TRIED TO ‘BUILD A BRIDGE’ OVER MACKLEMORE TOUR SPOT BEFORE VENUES SAID NO

One supporter celebrated the move, writing, "A great decision by Zach Bryan and his crew. I’m sure they will have to pay a price, but a courageous statement to help the conservative crowds see the light."

ED SHEERAN APOLOGIZES FOR MACKLEMORE BACKLASH, ENCOURAGES UNITY AT FIRST CONCERT SINCE FALLOUT

Another commenter, while making clear they disagreed with Bryan's position, defended the singer's right to make the statement.

"Listen I don’t agree with his political view on this but he has the right to wear the shirt. He didn’t stand there & preach his politics. It’s a shirt. He sang songs what he’s suppose to do"

Others disagreed with Bryan’s performance.

"People don't buy concert tickets to get political opinions," one person argued.

Another comment read, "Zach Bryan played Gillette Stadium Friday night in a ‘Free Palestine’ shirt. That’s Robert Kraft’s stadium. Last month Kraft barred Macklemore there over his ‘free Palestine’ remarks, citing antisemitic rhetoric. Kraft should cancel tonight’s show. Same standard he held Macklemore to."

LIKE WHAT YOU'RE READING?
Florida high school football game erupts into violent brawl involving players, coaches after final whistle

Multiple fights broke out after the final whistle in the Volusia County rivalry, with cops and coaches intervening

Another fantastic week of high school football in the books! Hard to believe, but we're already halfway through the regular season. Stunning, right?

Feels like we just fired up the stadium lights for the preseason classics in August, and here we are, already in the first weekend of October.

Final month of the season is here. Time to lock in, fellas.

I've taken it upon myself here at OutKick to highlight at least one high school football play/ player/ story each and every Saturday during the season. These guys are all about to be millionaires with the silly NIL rules, so we might as well get ahead of the curve and start identifying them early.

BEHEMOTH HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL STAR SLAMS DEFENDER TO THE GROUND LIKE A RAGDOLL AFTER INTERCEPTION

So far this season, we've seen (arguably) the country's top running back do incredible things in Tennessee on multiple different occasions, a wild Hail Mary in Florida, an entire California team get suspended because the mascot shot the bird to some fans, and, last week, a giant running back in Kentucky.

What a run we've been on, and I can assure you, it won't end today.

Nope. Today, we're gonna stay in my own backyard and check in on this week's Deltona-Matanzas game in Central Florida.

Things got a little ... out of hand ... after the final buzzer went off.

Take a look:

High school football game takes a nasty turn

Whoaaaaaaaaa Nellie! Look at that brawl. What a scrum.

Those are my old stomping grounds, by the way. I spent seven years covering high school football in Volusia County. I miss one thing about my former job, and this is it. High school football Friday nights. They're undefeated. You never know what you're gonna get.

According to Zach Allen of the Daytona Beach News-Journal, these guys were going back and forth all night. Sometimes, you can just feel when a fight's gonna break out in these games. Your spidey-senses start tingling as the game winds down, and something just tells you to start rolling the camera.

Right on cue ... chaos.

I count at least five different fights at once, spanning the entire width of the field. Little scrums. Big ones. One-on-ones. Just pure anarchy. No clue who was blowing the whistle the whole time, but, clearly, nobody got the message.

I see multiple helmets being tossed. I see cops getting involved. I see coaches trying to yank players from different scums all over the place.

Headsets are on the ground. Players are on the ground. One coach appears to take a pretty serious tumble. At the very end, it appears one player is helping another injured teammate off the field.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Not great. None of it is a great look. Feel like that goes without saying. I would imagine multiple players from both teams will be suspended after this. Perhaps the respective coaching staffs, too.

Don't forget, we had an entire team out in California suspended two weeks ago, including the coaches.

We'll see if Volusia County drops the hammer in similar fashion after this.

What a brawl.

Sharon Stone exclaims if men got pregnant you could get 'an abortion from a vending machine'

The actress described her own secret abortion at 18 while appearing on Michelle Obama's 'IMO' podcast

Actress Sharon Stone said Wednesday on Michelle Obama's podcast that if men could get pregnant, people could find abortions "from a vending machine."

While appearing on the "IMO" podcast, Stone described having an abortion she kept secret when she was 18 and her lack of sexual experience at the time.

"He didn't have any knowledge or information that I should have some kind of birth control," the 68-year-old actress said. "And I had no...like when I tell you I could have been the girl who gave birth in the bathroom stall."

SALLY FIELD OPENS UP ABOUT 'HORRIFIC' ILLEGAL ABORTION AS TEEN IN ENDORSEMENT FOR HARRIS

Stone joked that her parents assumed her weight gain was the "freshman 15" before criticizing people she said want to refuse to "give women care."

"And now we don't wanna give women care, OB-GYN care, and we wanna prosecute women for having a miscarriage? What kind of arcane b-----it is this?"

"If men got pregnant, you could get an abortion from a vending machine," she added.

Obama laughed at the comment and added that there would likely be a "birth Olympics" if men could get pregnant.

MICHELLE OBAMA ACCUSES MEDIA OF WEAPONIZING FASHION TO 'DIMINISH' HER AS A CAMPAIGN THREAT

"Exactly. If there would be the birth Olympics… men would film themselves going into labor and honoring their pain and, you know it would be…there would be trophies given, you know, 'well done dude,' 'Bob, you did that without an epidural,'" Obama said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Stone's representative for comment.

SHARON STONE SAYS SHE 'NEARLY DIED' AFTER 'BASIC INSTINCT' OPENED THE DOOR TO HOLLYWOOD'S DARK SIDE

In a comment to Fox News Digital, Laura Echevarria, National Right to Life's communications director and press secretary, decried Stone's flippant comments regarding abortion.

"Vending machines are about convenience. Abortion is about consequences— it ends the life of an unborn child and can profoundly impact the mother. Reducing abortion to something dispensed on demand doesn’t elevate women; it trivializes both women and their children," Echevarria said.

She continued, "We can and should advocate for excellent medical care for women without diminishing the value of their children. Women and their unborn children deserve compassion and support—not rhetoric that reduces abortion to the equivalent of purchasing a snack."

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s Communication Director Kelsey Pritchard told Fox News Digital: "The Democrats simply can't defend their no-limits abortion-on-demand agenda, so they resort to cynical man-bashing. Small wonder their party has negative appeal to men. If they really believed their rhetoric, they would never allow dangerous abortion drugs to be sold anonymously online."

Stone's podcast appearance came a few days after she called out fellow actress Sydney Sweeney over her provocative ad for a sports prediction platform.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"I think that it’s up to her to take responsibility for her actions, not up to me to judge her for her actions. It is up to me to be a cheerleader for the women who have made it through and become champions in women’s sports," Stone told People.

Newsom slaps 25% tax on private detention centers in sweeping pushback against key Trump policy

All eight ICE detention facilities in California are privately operated by companies including GEO Group and CoreCivic

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill earlier this week that would impose a 25% tax on private detention centers, a policy that would apply to all the facilities that partner with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Golden State.

"If we can’t kick out private facilities, we’ll go after their profits," Newsom said in a press release.

The move, which Newsom hailed as a way to push back against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and what he sees as the practice of privatizing federal enforcement, is raising concerns among immigration experts who believe the increased tax could force the government to explore alternative facilities less suited to housing detainees. It also poses questions about what would happen if all eight of ICE's detention facilities chose to suspend their operations in California.

CITIZENS BANK CUTS TIES WITH ICE PRISON CONTRACTORS AFTER MONTHS OF ACTIVIST PRESSURE

That’s the view of Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow and an immigration expert with Advancing American Freedom, a conservative-leaning think tank.

"It's very clear that there's only one purpose to this California gigantic tax increase, and that is to make sure that the federal government cannot find any private property owners, any private contractors in California that are willing to lease space to the federal government," Spakovsky said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

"The alternative for the federal government is to look at all the different federal properties that the government actually owns out there, over which neither Newsom or anybody else in California can impose any kind of tax, and see if any of those federal facilities can be converted to being a detention facility."

Spakovsky explained that could mean repurposing warehouses or office space.

The newly minted law, AB 1633, is among 20 other bills that Newsom signed on Tuesday. In its current form, the 25% tax applies to the gross income of any private detention facility and applies to federal, state and local contract recipients. Revenue from the bill will go to a "Due Process for All Fund," designated for immigration-related services, according to the bill’s language. Now that AB 1633 has been signed into law, it will go into effect on July 1, 2028.

Alongside the bill, Newsom signed a handful of other restrictions.

ICE EYES $20M PURCHASE OF ELECTRIC SHOCK GLOVES AS HOCHUL WARNS OF LEGAL CONSEQUENCES

"We’re also banning the Orwellian practice of using shock gloves in enforcement activity as well as further protecting access to our court system," Newsom said.

"We may not be able to dictate federal immigration policy, but we can make clear that activities taking place in California will be subject to California law."

Despite Newsom’s framing, Spakovsky believes the governor will affect federal immigration law enforcement by limiting the overall space it has to operate. He pointed to reporting from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that details its detention needs. He explained that the government relies on private contractors, at least partially, to avoid the costs of building their own facilities.

"If you look at that report, currently ICE has about enough detention space for about sixty-six thousand aliens. Okay, that's the full size of the federal government's detention capacity," Spakovsky said.

If an entire state’s private detention contractors decided the tax is too high, ICE’s overall capacity could shrink.

California is home to eight ICE detention facilities, according to reporting from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). All of them are privately operated.

The GEO Group, a corrections company, owns five facilities. Imperial Valley Gateway Center LLC, a local detention company, owns one more. Two more were purchased by DHS in July but are run by CoreCivic, a prison company, and have contracts through 2027 and 2029.

Although the bill won’t go into effect until 2028, in Trump’s last year of his second term, Spakovsky believes that the government might begin evaluating where else it can find partnerships to meet its detention needs sooner rather than later.

ICE MAKES NATIONWIDE ARRESTS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, MURDERERS, PEDOPHILES IN HOLIDAY BLITZ

"Look, if I was the federal government and I couldn't find enough federal properties in California to do this, I would then go into neighboring friendlier states that I could quickly transport aliens I've detained and I would lease and rent facilities there."

"I'd go to Arizona. I'd potentially go to Nevada. I'd go to other states where they might be eager for federal government money and the increased employment from private contractors hiring people to work on these facilities."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The office of Gavin Newsom did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Use Underdog promo code FOXNEWS to play $5 and get $100 in bonus bets for Alabama vs. Mississippi State. Preview today's SEC showdown, top players, and college football betting insights.

Are you looking to Roll Tide, or are you looking to bark like a Bulldog today? There is an SEC battle brewing, and you’ve got a great offer from Underdog today to enjoy the action. Alabama and Mississippi State battle, and Underdog is offering new users a chance to use promo code FOXNEWS to earn up to $100 in bonus bets on a $5 wager.

The game kicks off at 12:00 ET, and we have Alabama looking to remain perfect as they once again try to march to the College Football Playoffs. Their team has already been tested a bit against Kentucky, Florida State, and South Carolina, but this is certainly the toughest matchup of their early season.

So far, the team has done a solid job of staying composed on both sides of the ball. They haven’t scored fewer than 45 points in a game this year, but did allow 36 points to Florida State when they played two weeks ago. Quarterback Keelon Russell comes into this matchup in a position he isn’t used to — being the second-best quarterback in the game. Can he prove otherwise?

Mississippi State has come somewhat out of nowhere to be the 16th-ranked team in the country. Beating Alabama would vault them up even higher in the ranks and silence some of the naysayers. Last week, the team faced their first major test and passed by beating Missouri. They didn’t make it easy on themselves, winning 31-24, but they still should be proud of beating a ranked opponent.

The story of the early going for the Bulldogs is their quarterback, Kamario Taylor. This year has been a dream for Taylor through four games. He is racking up passing yards and already has 14 touchdowns. He does have two interceptions, but if he can protect the football and keep rolling, he may end up as a Heisman finalist.

Look for this game in the early window and lock in your bet right away. Underdog is offering you a chance to earn $100 in bonus bets starting with a $5 wager today. One officer asked Milania to sit back down and reminded her that she was "not controlling the situation."

The "RHONJ" star shared a lengthy statement on social media Monday after the bodycam footage was released.

"As a mother, there is nothing more important to me than the health, safety, and well-being of my children," she wrote. "The past few months have been incredibly difficult for our family, and I feel it is important to say something while also protecting my daughter during an extremely vulnerable time in her life."

The "RHONJ" star explained that Milania had "experienced tremendous heartbreak and significant psychological trauma after losing two of her best friends," but was making sure she was "surrounded by love, family, support, and the care she needs."

Milania pleaded not guilty in June to a simple assault charge in New Jersey following her arrest the month before.

Big Ten battles are almost always among the best of any college football weekend. What happens when you get two nationally ranked teams from the Big 10 battling? We will find out as Iowa hosts Ohio State. Underdog is offering you a chance to earn $100 on a $5 wager using promo code FOXNEWS. Bet $5 today, receive a $10 bonus bet, and repeat the process for 10 days to earn $100.

Ohio State has one blemish on the record this season, and if you’ve followed the sport, you know it is their loss to Texas. With the Longhorns now ranked as the top team in the country, you can blame the Buckeyes for losing the game all that much. Still, it was one that they let slip away; that can’t happen again.

Their other three games have been much easier. Week 1 saw them dominate Ball State with a 56-3 victory. Week 3 was a 59-3 win over Kent State, and last week, they took it to Illinois, winning 42-19. Quarterback Julian Sayin has looked great so far with 10 touchdowns and 1,206 passing yards for the year.

Iowa doesn’t have a blemish on its record, and a strong game here might give them future consideration for the College Football Playoffs. A win would likely get them a spot if they go perfect this season. They haven’t beaten Ohio State since the 2017-18 season, but they were at home when that happened.

They are coming off of an impressive win over Michigan last week, going on the road and getting a last-second victory with a final score of 20-19. Their first three games were fairly easy, with the exception of a tight one against Iowa State University. Against Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa, they won a combined 95-0.

No matter if you want the Buckeyes or the Hawkeyes to win, Underdog is making sure new users are winners with their bet $5, get $100 offer. Simply bet $5 using promo code FOXNEWS and you’ll receive a $10 bonus bet.
Use Fanatics Sportsbook promo code FOXNEWS350 to bet $20 and get $350 in FanCash for Alabama vs. Mississippi State. Preview today's ranked college football matchup, key players, and betting insights.

College Football rewards us after a long work week with a full day of games kicking off early at 12:00 ET and running the rest of the day. Fanatics is trying to reward new users with $350 in FanCash on a $20 wager when using promo code FOXNEWS350.

The fun starts early this week with Alabama coming into Mississippi State with a 12:00 ET kickoff. The Crimson Tide are 4-0 and have looked better each week. The team started the season with a win over East Carolina, winning 48-10. Then they had to travel to Kentucky and face the Wildcats. It was no contest with a 45-17 win.

The past two weeks have been slightly more difficult to win, but nothing nail-biting. They faced FSU and post a season-high 50 points. They won by two scores, so it still wasn’t a close game. South Carolina visited last week, and Alabama rolled to a 31-point victory.

Mississippi State has been climbing the rankings all season. They have a Hiesman trophy candidate under center, and they are 4-0 to start the year. They’ve even had a few tests this season. In Week 1, they faced University of Louisiana Monroe and crushed them with a 62-13 victory. Week 2 was another win, but a tougher opponent in Minnesota.

Week 3 brought them to South Carolina. The Bulldogs won the game, but it was by just one touchdown and they allowed 34 points to the Gamecocks. You have to assume their defense isn’t quite as good as Alabama’s. Last week, they hosted Missouri, a ranked team, and escaped with a 31-24 victory.

Tonight should be a fun game between the two ranked teams. A win for Alabama could show some further progress in their season. A win for Mississippi State could be the exclamation point on what has been a solid season. One win for new bettors comes from Fanatics Sportsbook and their offer of $350 in FanCash when wagering $20 using promo code FOXNEWS350.

How to Sign Up and Claim the Fanatics Sportsbook Welcome Bonus

Visit Fanatics Sportsbook by clicking the applicable "Claim Bonus" button on this page.

Create a new account and complete account registration, KYC and exchange account verification.

Once your account is verified, deposit at least $20 into your account.

Use promo code FOXNEWS350.

Place a $20 wager on tonight’s game

Receive $350 in FanCash after your wager is graded.

For more information, visit our Fanatics Sportsbook promo code page.

How to Watch Alabama vs Mississippi State

When: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2026 at 12:00 ET

Where: Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, Mississippi State

TV: ABC

Alabama vs Mississippi State Odds

*Odds subject to change*

Top 25 Teams Schedule

Texas — BYE / Off Week

Georgia — vs. Vanderbilt (Sat, 12:45 PM ET | SECN)

Notre Dame — at North Carolina (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ESPN)

Miami (FL) — at Clemson (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | ABC)

Ohio State — at No. 14 Iowa (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | CBS / Paramount+)

Indiana — at Rutgers (Sat, 8:00 PM ET | BTN)

Alabama — at No. 16 Mississippi State (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ABC)

Florida — at No. 25 Missouri (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ABC)

Ole Miss — BYE / Off Week

BYU — at TCU (Sat, 7:00 PM ET | ESPN)

LSU — vs. McNeese State (Sat, 7:45 PM ET | SECN)

Texas Tech — at Colorado (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | FOX)

Utah — BYE / Off Week

Iowa — vs. No. 5 Ohio State (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | CBS / Paramount+)

Oregon — BYE / Off Week

Mississippi State — vs. No. 7 Alabama (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ABC)

Tennessee — vs. Auburn (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ESPN)

USC — vs. Washington (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | NBC / Peacock)

Oklahoma State — BYE / Off Week

Houston — vs. UCF (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ESPN2)

SMU — vs. Boston College (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | The CW)

Boise State — vs. Utah State (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | CBSSN)

UCLA — BYE / Off Week

Kentucky — at South Carolina (Sat, 4:15 PM ET | SECN)

Missouri — vs. No. 8 Florida (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ABC)

Trump's attempted assassin sent mysterious texts about 3D printer leading up to Butler, Pa. shooting: report

Judicial Watch documents reveal odd messages including 3D printing discussions, gibberish sent to unknown contacts

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter in the assassination attempt at President Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on July 13, 2024, sent a series of strangely coded text messages in the months leading up to the shooting, according to records obtained by Judicial Watch.

"Did you 3D print the parts?" an individual the FBI described as an "unknown contact," messaged Crooks on Feb. 9, 2023.

"Yes, except for the fan blades," Crooks responded.

"Woah that looks cool," the unknown contact replied to Crooks, also asking about the "parts" in response to a Crooks message which the FBI redacted.

GOP LAWMAKERS BLINDSIDED BY NEW REVELATIONS ABOUT TRUMP BUTLER SHOOTER: 'AWFULLY STRANGE'

ATTEMPTED TRUMP ASSASSIN THOMAS CROOKS’ BEHAVIOR REVEALED ‘RED FLAGS’ BEFORE ATTACK: FORMER FBI AGENT

Another series of messages between Crooks and a redacted second party display a series of odd one- or two-word messages Crooks sent the contact between May 21, 2023, and Jan. 3, 2024.

"Hello … Hello red …Hello red … Hdudhdbdbbd … 7888ejdj … Yolo … Ddodjjf … 890 … Hdjd … Djdj … red … Yup red … Hello … Jhhhuuh … Hhdj … Jjjjjjjjjjjj … Hello red … Red red," Crooks' messages read. The FBI redacted any potential response from the other party, according to the documents.

Other information Judicial Watch received from the FBI documents included a notification from shipping company DHL about a package Crooks received from Hong Kong.

ATTEMPTED TRUMP ASSASSIN THOMAS CROOKS USED 'BOB DOLE' ALIAS BEFORE ANONYMOUS DONOR PAID FOR CREMATION: DOCS

The document release also included 40 drone photos Crooks took between Feb. 6, 2024, and Feb. 27, 2024, which included photos of PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium, where the MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates and the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers play, respectively.

Crooks' affinity for 3D printing had been previously reported by the New York Post, after the outlet reviewed a series of documents obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen.

Some of the best games each week are between the top 25 teams in the country. Sometimes they are blowouts, but sometimes they are great battles. Tonight we have Florida taking on Missouri, and Fanatics is offering new users a chance to bet $20 and receive $350 when wagering on the game with code FOXNEWS350.

Florida is one of the best teams in the country and is coming off an absolutely dominating performance against a fellow top-10 team. The Gators rocked Ole Miss one week after the Rebels made a statement win against LSU. The final score was 52-28, showing just how great Florida was.

They did have a bit of a tougher time with Auburn when the two teams played each other in Week 3. Auburn still dropped the game, but kept it close. The Gators won 44-39, and the 44 points were the fewest they’ve had all season. The 39 points were also the most allowed this year.

Missouri is 3-1 for the season and coming off a loss to Mississippi State last week. In Week 4, they had to travel to play the Bulldogs, and they lost the game 31-24. It wasn’t a terrible game, but they just couldn’t pull it out. A win here would vault them up the list of top-25 teams in the nation.

The three wins that Missouri has this season are against Arkansas Pine Bluff, Kansas and Troy. Kansas is likely the only decent team they’ve faced. It can be hard to judge a team until they start playing real competition. Florida is definitely a challenge they want to conquer.

This matchup between Florida and Missouri kicks off this afternoon at 3:30 ET.
Use Fanatics Sportsbook promo code FOXNEWS350 to wager $20 and get $350 in FanCash on Notre Dame vs. North Carolina college football.

College football has some of the best action we will get this weekend, not just in volume but in matchups, and one that stands out is Notre Dame vs. North Carolina. To get in on today’s action, Fanatics Sportsbook is offering you $350 when you wager $20 or more using promo code FOXNEWS350.

For the season, Notre Dame is 4-0 and comes into the game as the third-best team in the country according to polls. This year’s schedule hasn’t been a challenge yet, but it is possible they have some tough games ahead, including this one. Their offense has rolled, and their defense has been crisp.

The question is whether wins over Wisconsin, Rice, Michigan State and Purdue are good enough to judge just how dominant this Fighting Irish team is. You could make an argument that Wisconsin and Purdue are the better teams they’ve faced, but they had no trouble winning a combined 90-23 over those two teams.

North Carolina is 2-1 for the season, and if you want a reason to bet on them, it is because Bill Belichick is the coach, and he has had an extra week to prepare. They still don’t look like a dominant program, and there seems to have been more off-field storylines than on-field production.

However, if you think the Tar Heels can prepare a plan to stop Notre Dame, having an extra week would certainly be helpful. In their three games, they have beaten TCU in the first game, then took down East Tennessee State. Before the bye week, they lost to Clemson 28-20.

Fightin’ Irish or Tar Heels, you make the call. With Fanatics Sportsbook, you can take a shot on either or something else in the game and wager $20 with promo code FOXNEWS350 to earn $350 in FanCash.

Use promo code FOXNEWS350

Place a $20 wager on tonight’s game

Receive $350 in FanCash after your wager is graded.

For more information, visit our Fanatics Sportsbook promo code page.

How to Watch Notre Dame vs North Carolina

When: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2026, at 12:00 ET

Where: Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

TV: ESPN, Disney+

Notre Dame vs North Carolina

*Odds subject to change*

Use Fanatics Sportsbook promo code FOXNEWS350 to bet $20 and get $350 in FanCash on the Iowa vs. Ohio State game.

There are only a few games this week between ranked teams, but the ones we get are very good, including the Iowa vs. Ohio State game. Fanatics Sportsbook is offering new users promo code FOXNEWS350 to bet $20 and receive $350 in FanCash when betting on the Iowa vs. Ohio State game.

We know that Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country, but they’ve already had one blemish on their schedule. To open the year, they beat Ball State by 53 points. Then in Week 2 they had a showdown with Texas. After controlling the first half, Ohio State blew the lead in the second, losing 24-23. The Buckeyes took out their frustration on Kent State the following week, winning 59-3. Last week, they hosted Illinois and won the game 42-19.

Quarterback Julian Sayin has looked solid throughout his four games. He has 10 touchdowns and 1,206 passing yards. He does have one interception on his resume. The running game features a combination of backs, but the leader is Bo Jackson with 283 yards on 50 carries. Jeremiah Smith has hauled in seven touchdown passes for the Buckeyes.

Iowa has had one of the harder schedules of anyone in the Big 10, but so far, they haven’t had any issues. They are 4-0, having beaten Northern Illinois 40-0 to start the year. In Week 2, Iowa State University came to their field, and they won 16-13, a tight battle. It wouldn’t be the last of the season.

In Week 3, Northern Iowa was shut out by the Hawkeyes, with Iowa coasting to a 55-0 win. Last week was a tough battle as they played Michigan and beat the Wolverines 20-19. This time, they got the last-second touchdown. They must now regroup after an emotional victory and try to beat Ohio State.

This should be a great Big 10 battle, and you can enjoy the game with the promotion from Fanatics Sportsbook, offering $350 in FanCash for a $20 wager on the Iowa vs. Ohio State game.

Use promo code FOXNEWS350

Place a $20 wager on tonight’s game

Receive $350 in FanCash after your wager is graded.

For more information, visit our Fanatics Sportsbook promo code page.

How to Watch Ohio State vs Iowa

When: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2026 at 3:30 ET

Where: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, Iowa

TV: CBS

Ohio State vs Iowa Odds

*Odds subject to change*

Top 25 Teams Schedule

Texas — BYE / Off Week

Georgia — vs. Vanderbilt (Sat, 12:45 PM ET | SECN)

Notre Dame — at North Carolina (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ESPN)

Miami (FL) — at Clemson (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | ABC)

Ohio State — at No. 14 Iowa (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | CBS / Paramount+)

Indiana — at Rutgers (Sat, 8:00 PM ET | BTN)

Alabama — at No. 16 Mississippi State (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ABC)

Florida — at No. 25 Missouri (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ABC)

Ole Miss — BYE / Off Week

BYU — at TCU (Sat, 7:00 PM ET | ESPN)

LSU — vs. McNeese State (Sat, 7:45 PM ET | SECN)

Texas Tech — at Colorado (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | FOX)

Utah — BYE / Off Week

Iowa — vs. No. 5 Ohio State (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | CBS / Paramount+)

Oregon — BYE / Off Week

Mississippi State — vs. No. 7 Alabama (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ABC)

Tennessee — vs. Auburn (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ESPN)

USC — vs. Washington (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | NBC / Peacock)

Oklahoma State — BYE / Off Week

Houston — vs. UCF (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | ESPN2)

SMU — vs. Boston College (Sat, 12:00 PM ET | The CW)

Boise State — vs. Utah State (Sat, 7:30 PM ET | CBSSN)

UCLA — BYE / Off Week

Kentucky — at South Carolina (Sat, 4:15 PM ET | SECN)

Missouri — vs. No. 8 Florida (Sat, 3:30 PM ET | ABC)

Use Underdog promo code FOXNEWS to play $5 and get up to $100 in bonus bets on college football games, including Notre Dame vs. North Carolina.

You’re presented with choices every day, and some are easier than others. You have the option of 53 games to bet on this Saturday in college football, and Underdog is giving you an opportunity to play $5 and earn $100 in bonus bets on the college football game of your choice using code FOXNEWS.

While ranked matchups are always fun to watch, there are some other great games on the schedule worth paying attention to, including Notre Dame vs. North Carolina and Auburn vs. Tennessee.

Notre Dame comes into this game as the 3rd-ranked team in the nation. Skeptics would say that the team hasn’t faced anyone this year, and there is a case to be made. They’ve played Wisconsin, Rice, Michigan State, and Purdue in their four games. They are 4-0 and have outscored their opponents 199-33 in those games. Clearly, their offense is rolling, but perhaps defensive genius Bill Belichick can stop them.

North Carolina is 2-1 for the season and had a bye week to prepare for this game. They started the season overseas and played TCU for the second straight year. However, this year’s game went differently, with the Tar Heels winning 15-10. Then they beat East Tennessee State before losing 28-20 to Clemson two weeks ago. With extra time to prepare, can they find a way to slow down Notre Dame?

Auburn comes into this game with a 3-1 record, including a 1-1 mark in the SEC. They’ve had some challenging games and have looked solid in all four contests. They started the year narrowly beating Baylor, winning 17-16. Then they played Southern Miss and won by 35 points. Florida has looked like one of the best teams in the country, and Auburn hung with them. Last week, Auburn was able to win the game over Vanderbilt.

Tennessee matches Auburn's record, and they are currently 17th in the nation. They didn’t have a very tough schedule to start the year, beating Furman by almost 50 points. The Volunteers then went to play Georgia Tech and won 45-24. Another blowout win over Kennesaw State set them up for their showdown last week with Texas. It was a close game, but ultimately they fell short.

Those are just two of many great games on the docket for today.
Betr Promo Code FOXNEWS: Get $200 in Bonuses for Any College Football Matchup This Saturday

Use Betr promo code FOXNEWS to get $200 in bonuses on any college football matchup, including Miami vs. Clemson in Week 5.

We’ve made it to College Football Week 5, and so far, the season has not been disappointing, with many great matchups. Betr is offering new users $200 in bonuses when using promo code FOXNEWS for any college football matchup today.

It isn’t a ranked matchup, but one game that stands out on the schedule today is the matchup between Miami and Clemson. Miami is the fourth-ranked team in the nation, and Clemson comes into the game needing a statement win this season.

Miami ended their season just short of a National Championship last year, but they have picked up right where they left off. Their quarterback, Darian Mensah, looks like he could be this year’s Heisman winner. Leading his team to a 4-0 record, he has 14 touchdowns and 1,211 yards on 94-for-106 passing.

The Miami ground game has been equally impressive. Mark Fletcher Jr. has three touchdowns, but also has 230 yards on just 36 carries this season. That doesn’t take into consideration that Javian Mallor has 226 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries, or that Chris Wheatley-Humphrey has a touchdown and 104 yards on 11 rushes.

Clemson started their season against LSU, and they lost that game in rather embarrassing fashion. They lost 51-10, offering little fight and few positive takeaways. The next three games haven’t been all that tough, but they have won over Georgia Southern, North Carolina and Cal the past three weeks.

Their team is led by Tait Reynolds, but he has left the team with more questions than answers this year. He is 54-for-84 for the season with 521 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The running game has gone well, and Gideon Davidson is putting together a solid campaign with 346 yards and three touchdowns.

This is one of the better games on the slate tonight, despite what the spread is telling us. Betr is offering users a chance to get $200 in bonuses from a wager on any of the Saturday football games when using promo code FOXNEWS.

How to Sign Up and Claim the Betr Picks Promo Code FOXNEWS

Click any "Claim Now" button on this page to open Betr.

Download the Betr app for iOS or Android.

Create your account and complete verification (name, DOB, address, last 4 SSN if required).

Your two No Sweat Entries will be added once your account is verified.

Make your first deposit to receive Betr Bucks using code FOXNEWS
The Senate has remembered America’s October 7th victims. Now it’s time to heal

This week, without a single objection, the Senate showed what any country owes its citizens killed by terrorists, and the families they left behind

On October 7, 2023, my son Itay was nineteen, an American-Israeli soldier stationed at Nahal Oz protecting the border, when Hamas terrorists kidnapped and murdered him. They held his remains in Gaza for 760 days — deliberate, unimaginable psychological warfare against my family — before he was finally returned home in November 2025, the last American hostage. He was my son. He was an American. Most of his own country never learned his name, or the names of Judy Weinstein, Danielle Waldman or Carol Siman Tov.

That is why it was so meaningful that the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution, led by Senators Rick Scott and Jacky Rosen, honoring the 46 Americans murdered by Hamas during the October 7 war. For the first time, their names are written into the official record of the United States Senate. The resolution reaffirms America’s commitment to seek legal justice on behalf of our families, and it will be delivered to each of us by the Secretary of State.

Washington is finally stopping to remember. Families of the fallen will soon gather in the nation’s capital for "Honoring American Victims of Hamas Since October 7," the first time the U.S. government will formally recognize, in one room, its own citizens killed in the October 7 war. I have advocated for this day because most Americans have no idea their country endured one of the deadliest days of terrorism against its own citizens since September 11.

MY SON WAS ONE OF 46 AMERICANS MURDERED BY HAMAS. WE NEED A US INVESTIGATION

I am deeply grateful to Secretary of State Marco Rubio for stepping forward to host this memorial, and to the Howard and Allison Lutnick Foundation for their support. Together with the Senate’s vote, it tells grieving families something we have waited three years to hear: Washington sees us. These were not foreign casualties in someone else’s war. They were American sons, daughters and grandparents, murdered by extremists.

But what worries me most is this: a resolution and a ceremony must not become a "check the box" moment, after which Washington moves on. Acknowledgment is not healing. Recognition is not recovery. Our families need their country to act long after the cameras leave the room.

So I am asking Washington for three things.

First, pass the October 7th American Victims Family Support and Remembrance Act. It would give our families — most of whom live outside the United States — the same mental health support and medical rehabilitation Congress built for 9/11 families through the Zadroga Act, and authorize a permanent memorial to the fallen here in Washington. Grief without support is grief carried alone.

Second, Congress must establish a formal committee to investigate how nearly 50 of its own citizens came to be killed on October 7. This is not only about accountability — it is part of our families’ recovery. You cannot fully rehabilitate what you cannot explain, and three years later, our families still do not know how their loved ones were killed. Four Americans died in Benghazi and Congress ran eight investigations; nineteen died at Khobar Towers and the House investigated. Congress cannot defer to the Israeli government on understanding how its own citizens were killed. It should give the American people a clear accounting of how this happened, so that we can begin to heal.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Third, turn the Senate’s words into justice. As Senator Scott said this week, America "has a duty to secure justice" for its murdered citizens. The Department of Justice must keep pursuing everyone responsible for October 7 — the killers, and those who financed, armed and enabled them — until each one faces justice. Every terrorist should know that killing an American carries severe and lasting consequences. That is not vengeance. It is deterrence, and it is what protects the next American family from becoming mine.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

This week, without a single objection, the Senate showed what any country owes its citizens killed by terrorists, and the families they left behind. I could not save my son. I can still demand that our country tell the truth about how this happened, work to prevent it from happening again, hold those responsible to account, and make sure no other American family has to search for that truth alone.

Police officers spot strange objects underwater, then make remarkable ancient discovery

Intact artifacts found on the seabed may date from 1st century BC to 1st century AD

Police officers on a routine dive in Italy recently made an unusual discovery recently: ancient Roman artifacts resting on the seabed, 2,000 years later.

The artifacts were uncovered off the coast of Porto Rotondo in Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea, news agency Cover Images reported.

The discovery was announced by the Sassari Police Headquarters in late August.

DIVERS UNCOVER HUNDREDS OF ANCIENT RELICS NEAR SHIPWRECK UNTOUCHED FOR 2,100 YEARS

The officers were based in Olbia, Sardinia. They spotted the ancient objects while conducting an underwater safety operation.

They first noticed a piece of broken terracotta — prompting them to return for a second dive, when they discovered the largely intact vessels.

The find led divers to conduct a more detailed search of the area for other archaeological objects.

"Careful dredging action allowed the identification and subsequent recovery of three intact terracotta artifacts, specifically a transport basin, along with other minor items," officials said, as Cover Images noted.

POLICE OPERATION TAKES UNEXPECTED TURN WHEN OFFICERS STUMBLE UPON ANCIENT BURIAL CAVE

"The artifacts were recorded and made available to the competent Archaeological Superintendent."

Pictures show police divers examining the seabed and ancient pottery submerged in the waters off Sardinia.

One image shows an intact amphora nestled among thick seagrass on the seafloor — while another shows a police diver examining a large, heavily encrusted vessel.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER

In the ancient world, amphorae were used to transport a variety of materials, including wine, olive oil and grain.

Police said the artifacts appear to date to the period spanning the fall of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire.

"From a preliminary analysis, it is hypothesized that the items may date back to a time frame between the second half of the 1st century B.C. and the 1st century A.D., with a potential origin area that can be linked to Lazio, Campania or the Iberian Peninsula," officials said, according to Cover Images.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE NEWS

Looking ahead, specialists will examine the vessels to glean more information about them, including their precise age and origin.

Researchers will also determine whether the vessels came from a larger archaeological site — and if more artifacts await discovery.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

Though extraordinary, such discoveries are not unheard of in Italy.

Earlier this year, Italian authorities announced the discovery of a Roman merchant shipwreck still carrying its cargo of amphorae in the Ionian Sea.

At the time, officials said the shipwreck had been discovered off the coast of Apulia during a routine maritime patrol in June 2025.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

The vessel was dated to the late Imperial era, which spanned roughly 284 A.D. to 641 A.D.

DHS exposes dilemma behind SCOTUS deportation fight: ‘We have two choices’

Justices stayed a lower-court ruling restricting DHS removals of criminal aliens to nations other than their home countries

The Supreme Court temporarily cleared the Trump administration to continue its third-country deportation policy this week, as DHS’ top lawyer mounts a public defense of an immigration authority the administration says previous presidents largely left dormant.

DHS has increasingly used so-called "third-country" removals when a removable alien cannot be returned to their home country or that country refuses to take them back — part of what agency General Counsel James Percival describes as a broader Trump strategy of reviving immigration authorities already on the books.

"Imagine going to a country and saying, hey, we've got a guy, he's not your guy, and he's a rapist, but can he please live there?" Percival told Fox News Digital.

"That's not an easy ask. It requires significant diplomatic energy… Norway is not taking a rapist from Cuba."

TRUMP’S SPECIAL STRATEGY TO DEPORT ILLEGALS GIVES HIM ANOTHER TOOL FOR ENFORCEMENT

The justices on Tuesday stayed a lower-court judgment restricting DHS’s policy, allowing the administration’s guidance to remain in effect while the Court considers the case on the merits. Arguments are set for December over whether agency procedures comply with federal immigration law, due process and safeguards against torture.

The case does not squarely challenge DHS’s underlying authority to conduct third-country removals, but rather the procedures it must follow beforehand.

"It’s in the statute expressly that we can do this," he said. "If you go back and read most of the immigration laws, there's a lot of really good tools in there that people just haven't used."

The third-country provision was included in a major immigration reform package passed by Congress and signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996: the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA).

"A lot of people in government sort of treat their authority like fine china," Percival remarked.

"They're afraid if they ever actually use it, someone will take it away. And if you've ever owned fine china, it's like you can find yourself at the end of your life and you were so afraid you would break it you never used it."

TRUMP’S FIGHT OVER RARELY USED 18TH-CENTURY DEPORTATION LAW LIVES ON IN LATEST COURT CLASH

But Percival’s strategy has not come without blowback from human rights advocates, who pointed most recently to allegations that deportees were beaten by authorities in Equatorial Guinea, a tiny nation on Africa’s Atlantic coast that has been under the control of President Teodoro Obiang since 1979.

Obiang's government received $7.5 million from Washington as part of an agreement with Malabo to accept third-country deportations.

"I’d rather live in the United States than Equatorial Guinea too, but I’m an American citizen and I haven’t killed anybody," Percival said.

The detention issue traces in part to the Supreme Court’s 2001 decision in a case involving a stateless legal resident whom the government ordered deported due to his criminal record. Kestutis Zadvydas was born to Lithuanian parents in a German displaced- persons camp, but neither Lithuania nor Germany would accept him.

The court held that six months of post-removal detention is presumptively reasonable, after which continued detention can be challenged if removal is not reasonably foreseeable.

Percival is making that case publicly through his "Daily Deportee" series on X, highlighting criminal deportees whose home countries will not accept them.

SIGN UP TO GET THE POLITICS NEWSLETTER

"If the person is a child rapist and serves 20 years, we have two choices: Find a third country — or let the child rapist go live in an American community," he said, adding that the effort is intended to shape public understanding of the issue and highlight its stakes.

Percival cited Burmese national Kyaw Mya, whose home country won’t take him back.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Percival said another case he plans to feature involves a migrant who committed a violent crime, was not removed by the Bush administration after serving time and then allegedly reoffended after his release:

"[He] tried to kill somebody, the gun misfired, so he pistol-whipped them instead. He served time for that. He got out," Percival explained.

As DHS continues seeking to use underutilized tools in the IIRIRA and other laws, Percival pointed illegal immigrants and criminal resident aliens to another oft-repeated option that Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin continues to keep on the table:

"It’s not too late to get $3,000 and a flight home."

Michael Douglas confirms secret affair with Kathleen Turner on 'Romancing the Stone' set

The actor reveals the truth in his upcoming memoir 'One Helluva Ride' after 40 years of public denials

Michael Douglas is confirming a rumor that has followed him around for decades.

In an excerpt from his upcoming memoir, "One Helluva Ride," the 82-year-old actor revealed that he and Kathleen Turner had an affair while filming "Romancing the Stone," a rumor they denied for over 40 years.

"Kathleen was smart, funny, and sexy with a deep, sultry voice that became her signature," he wrote in an excerpt obtained by People. "I instantly liked her, and we were immediately attracted to each other."

He went on to say that although he was married to Diandra Luker at the time, "things at home were in a bad place" and both he and Luker "were both having extramarital affairs."

MICHAEL DOUGLAS' ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING ROLE IN ‘WALL STREET’ WAS FIRST OFFERED TO THESE TWO A-LIST ACTORS

Douglas wrote that he left home to film the 1984 movie "still technically married, but separated," and that while audiences were "certain for years that we were in a relationship together" while making the movie, they denied it, even through the making of the sequel and years later when they reunited on "The Kominsky Method."

The two would tell the public that while they "had amazing chemistry" and were "both tempted," they never acted on their feelings.

"The truth is that during the production of Romancing the Stone, Kathleen and I fell hard for each other and began a relationship," he wrote. "It wasn’t a fly-by night affair; it grew naturally from how closely we were working together, how much pressure we were under, how much we respected and cared for one another, and how attracted we were to each other. Like every other guy in the world at the time, I was knocked sideways by Kathleen."

He noted that the two of them kept their affair a secret for 40 years in order to protect Luker and their son, Cameron.

GET ENTERTAINMENT SCOOP DELIVERED RIGHT TO YOUR EMAIL BY CLICKING HERE

The affair was kept a secret from everyone, including the film's director, Bob Zemeckis, and their co-star, Danny DeVito, with Douglas adding the two would go to dinner together after filming or that he "would sneak into her hotel room after everybody was asleep."

"There were no cameras in elevators, no assistants using cell phones to take pictures," he said. "As Jack and Joan were falling in love, Kathleen and I were keeping the chemistry alive."

Turner and Douglas decided to end things after Luker visited them on set with Cameron, "and made it clear to her [Turner] that we were still married."

LIKE WHAT YOU'RE READING? I love Michael and I look forward to enjoying the book."

"Romancing the Stone" follows Turner as Joan, a romance novelist who travels to Columbia to rescue her sister from smugglers and meets bird hunter Jack Colton, played by Douglas, who agrees to help her.

PUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT KNOWLEDGE TO THE TEST AND SEE HOW YOU SCORE

Lurker eventually filed for divorce in 1995, and after 23 years of marriage, their divorce was finalized in 2000, with the actor writing, "After that first split it was never the same between us ever again."

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

He went on to marry actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in November 2000. He has since welcomed two children with the "Wednesday" actress: son Dylan, 26, and daughter Carys, 23.

Give us a week to steal your heart. Our track record is pretty good. Let's have some fun.

Let's get started this morning with news that I just completed my very first back-to-back country club experiences of my life. I'd never played private club golf – ever. As many of you know, I grew up in a farm town outside Dayton, Ohio. The closest I ever got to a private club was the front gate at Miami Valley Country Club along Salem Ave. as we were typically driving to downtown Dayton or to Good Sam Hospital.

Quick observations of the country club life:

CHARLES BARKLEY ACTUALLY BEATS SOMEONE AT GOLF & IT'S THE WNBA COMMISSIONER, UFC SOPHIE & USA AS STEAKS

Lack of total degenerates. Yes, there are a few drinkers out there smacking the balls around, but I'm talking the total degens who have overrun many public courses. I'm burnt out on the total degens.

Speed of play. After playing last Sunday in about five hours, and being very frustrated, it was nice to play a couple of rounds under four hours (3:53 on Thursday at Piqua Country Club, even with a stop at our buddy Fish's bar at his house along the course). I was telling Canoe Kirk that we might not be any good, but at least we move the ball and we're not holding up anyone.

Friday's course, Stone Oak Country Club in suburban Toledo, might be the nicest place I've ever played if you take into consideration the full experience. When there's Nautica and mouthwash in the men's locker room, that's just next level. The course itself was amazing. Doglegs everywhere. I was honestly blown away by the quality of experience. I'd never been to a place with ice machines out on the course in random spots. That's a nice touch.

How'd I play? 95-96. My low nine was 45 on Thursday at Piqua on the back nine. I could get to the high 80s at both places if I played them a couple of times. The greens at Piqua — the club opened in 1896 — were diabolical if you were out of position, which was my issue.

There was also bad news: USB chargers have to work in golf carts at a high-end country club. No excuses.

GOLFER PAIGE SPIRANAC LEAVES PLAYING PARTNER SPEECHLESS WITH AWKWARD QUESTION, LLWS MUD & WNBA WIKI PAGES

Now let's pivot into the country club of college football experiences and what happened at Northwestern last night at the opener for Ryan Field, the new $900 million field that is a mini-modern NFL stadium with all the luxuries that NFL fans expect.

If Northwestern combines easier academic standards for its football players with this new stadium, this could be a college football franchise that makes some noise. This place is going to recruit itself. If boosters can improve NIL salaries – Northwestern is said to have half of Ohio State's $50-$55M NIL budget – watch out.

📩 Email: joe.kinsey@outkick.com
Send photos, stories, tips, rants—whatever you've got.

📰 Screencaps Page:
👉 Read the latest Screencaps

▶️ YouTube: Screencaps with Joe Kinsey
Subscribe for videos, rants, and behind-the-scenes.

🐦 Twitter/X: @JoeKinseyexp
Tag me or drop a DM.

📸 Instagram: @OutKickScreencaps
You guys need to start tagging me on content you're seeing.

📘 Facebook Page: Screencaps on Facebook

👥 Facebook Group: Join the Screencaps Community

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

📬 Mail (Thursday Night Mowing League):
27072 Carronade Dr, Unit A 155
Perrysburg, OH 43551

Screencaps Jr. is running in his final Saturday junior high invitational today

This is a big one.
Director of new ‘Narnia’ movie takes heat over casting of Meryl Streep as Christ-like lion Aslan

Meryl Streep cast as Aslan in Netflix’s 'Narnia' series causes some Hollywood head scratching

Criticism over the recent casting of actress Meryl Streep as the voice of the Christ-like lion Aslan in Netflix’s "Narnia" adaptation has continued as some Christian and media figures question the choice. An online petition is also calling on Netflix to replace director Greta Gerwig for future "Narnia" films.

The petition, entitled, "Demand Netflix to replace director of the Narnia films," was started Friday on Change.org following negative reactions from some Christian fans and critics to the theological implications of a actress voicing Aslan, an allegory for Jesus Christ.

"Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew," written and directed by Gerwig ("Barbie"), is based on the 1955 novel, the sixth published and first chronologically in the children’s book series "The Chronicles of Narnia" by British author, literary scholar and Christian thinker C.S. Lewis.

FANTASY DOESN’T NEED ANOTHER 'GAME OF THRONES.' IT NEEDS WHAT TOLKIEN UNDERSTOOD

The film is set to hit theaters Feb. 12, 2027, and Netflix on April 2, 2027, but it was the recently announced casting of Streep that brought renewed attention to concerns from some Christians about altering the voice of Aslan, a character Lewis presented as a Christ figure in Narnia.

Movieguide founder Dr. Ted Baehr, who served as president of the Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation after it helped produce CBS’s classic 1979 animated adaptation of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," said he was confused by the choice.

DIRECTOR OF NEW ‘LORD OF THE RINGS’ REJECTS ‘POLITICALLY CORRECT’ CASTING AFTER SUGGESTIONS FILM IS TOO WHITE

"When I did it, they had a hundred million or more people who had read ‘Chronicles of Narnia.’ Now I'm sure it's double or triple. And most of them know that Aslan is a Christ figure, and we understand that Christ in the Revelation gets married to the church, that he's a guy, but he's fully God and Holy man. We understand all that, so with the change that they're doing, it's going to alienate a lot of Christians," Baehr told Fox News Digital.

Baehr, who noted that he spoke briefly with Gerwig about the film and that the 43-year-old filmmaker told him that, as a young woman, his version was her favorite, said she "comes at it from a different point of view."

COMEDIAN LEANNE MORGAN CALLS OUT HOLLYWOOD FOR LIVING IN A 'BUBBLE' AND MISJUDGING WHAT AUDIENCES WANT TO SEE

"That doesn't mean that it won't do well at the box office, it just means that there will be an extra audience, maybe 110 to 140 million Christians that may not show up because they don't like that," Baehr said. "But you know, you can build a movie with a lot of one group or another, so it doesn't mean the movie won't succeed, it just means it'll lose an audience."

In his case, Baehr said he fought to ensure Aslan remained an uncompromised allegory for Jesus Christ in the 1979 adaptation.

KELSEY GRAMMER ADMITS IT'S 'EXHAUSTING' WHEN MOVIES TRY TO ALTER HISTORY TO FIT MODERN TASTES

For her part, Gerwig, who has described herself as a Unitarian Universalist and churchgoer, has said she envisions her version as a "rock opera" and explained to entertainment site Empire that she wanted someone who was "profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose self-seriousness" to play the part of Aslan — someone, she said, "who could communicate depth and pathos as well as joy and delight."

She added, "I wanted someone who was older than 70, so there was a wisdom of experience, but who also had the capacity of fresh wonder, like a child. And also to be one of the greatest actors to ever do it. That list is not a long one."

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN CALLS CRITICISM OF 'THE ODYSSEY' CASTING DECISIONS 'IRRELEVANT'

Fox News Digital reached out to Gerwig’s agent, Creative Artists Agency CEO and co-chairman Bryan Lourd, for further comment.

Fox News Digital also reached out to Netflix for comment.

Ned Lott, a casting and voice director and producer who has worked in the animation industry since 2000 with companies ranging from Disney to Warner Bros. and Nickelodeon on projects including 2025’s animated "David" and 2005’s "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," recalled his experience casting Aslan for the 2005 film.

EVERY CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S 'THE ODYSSEY' FROM CASTING TO COSTUMES

"It’s like casting for the voice of Jesus, or the voice of God. Like, in my mind, it was very important that the character of the books, and the integrity of the books, matched the voice, and even the actor," he told Fox News Digital.

Lott said that when it came to casting Aslan for the 2005 film, he and his team auditioned dozens of British actors. But with just 24 hours left to make a decision, no one was completely satisfied.

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN FACES GROWING BACKLASH OVER 'ODYSSEY' CASTING, HISTORICAL ACCURACY AS SCREENINGS CANCELED

"It still wasn't like a slam dunk, you know. And so, it was just this kind of moment where I was leaving work and I was like, I literally talked to God. I said, ‘Okay, we have to find your voice, and I have one more day. So I need some help, you know.’ And I got in my car, I turned on the radio and all of a sudden there was the voice," Lott recalled. "Like, literally, there was the voice of Aslan, and I didn't know who it was."

He did know it was a movie trailer for the 2005 film "Kingdom of Heaven," and so, after arriving home, he looked up the film on IMDb and saw that it was Liam Neeson, an Irish actor who had never appeared on their list of British celebrity thespians.

The rest is history, with Neeson famously voicing Aslan in three "Chronicles of Narnia" films.

Lott explained that casting is about the character rather than the performer and that there are instances in which a man has successfully voiced a female character. He cited director Brad Bird’s portrayal of Edna Mode in "The Incredibles" as one example. Lott said such casting is typically done for comedic effect.

Additionally, Lott cited tricks that can be done with pitch shifting and EQ settings, as well as a voice actor’s performance, that can leave audiences unaware that the voice actor is a different gender from the character.

Still, he said, this casting of Streep as Aslan leaves him puzzled.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

"We took so much care with Aslan and really understood him. It just seemed like a choice that we would have not made back in 2005 because we understood the integrity of the books and tried to do as much as we could with the integrity of what the author had in mind," Lott said. "So, it’s just like a different philosophy. It’s not something I’m used to. Clearly, there’s an artistic reason."

MAGA mom's dire warning over tech guardrails as Trump puts pedal to the metal on race with China

Humans First chairwoman Amy Kremer says AI companies should face the same reporting requirements as airlines and hospitals

A conservative political activist who has been deeply entrenched in right-wing politics for decades is calling on the government to implement safety guardrails on artificial intelligence (AI), especially when it comes to protecting children and ensuring that the booming technology doesn't displace American workers en masse.

"If something happens with one of these companies, whether it's a child taking their own life due to suicide by manipulation with a chatbot, these companies are not required to report it to the federal government," Amy Kremer told Fox News Digital.

Kremer is the chairwoman of Humans First, a gorup that advocates for government safeguards on the technology and says it gives the American people a voice in the AI conversation, rather than leaving all the power in the hands of what it calls "Big AI globalists" who have little concern for ordinary Americans.

MIKE JOHNSON REJECTS AI MORATORIUM OVER CHINA THREAT AS CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST DEMANDS GUARDRAILS

"We are a grassroots organization focused on putting guardrails and safety mechanisms in place around AI technology in order to protect the American people, our children, jobs and so forth, and also to put those guardrails in place to to make sure that the people have a seat at the table and a voice in the conversation about what goes into their community," Kremer said.

Kremer, who is known by the political right for her time as a Tea Party advocate and ferocious fighter for President Donald Trump's MAGA movement, mentioned the 2025 mass shooting at Florida State University, which claimed the lives of two people and injured six others, as an instance of AI gone wrong.

Court documents in that case claim that the alleged shooter, Phoenix Ikner, used ChatGPT to plan aspects of the shooting. The company was sued by the wife of one of the deceased victims, and the state of Florida took the rare step of opening a criminal investigation into the company.

"If a chatbot is used in planning a school shooting like what happened at Florida State University in April of 2025, they're not required to report that to the federal government," said Kremer. "The only reason we know about a number of these things that have happened is because of lawsuits that have been filed by the victims and/or their families."

She argued that as a former flight attendant, she had to report every issue on an airliner to the government. And just as hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and hordes of other industries are regulated under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Kremer believes that AI companies should face similar scrutiny.

FOX NEWS POLL: VOTERS QUESTION WHETHER AI’S PROMISE OUTWEIGHS ITS RISKS

AI is a hotly-contested issue ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, with some Democrats looking to reign in the technology while the Trump administration hoping to keep competition and innovation flowing in the effort to win the AI race with China.

But Kremer is far from a Democrat, and she wants also wants the United States to crush China in the race for technological dominance.

"I want America to win this AI race, I absolutely I do. I'm America first, always have been, and we've led the world on innovation and ingenuity," she said. "But again ... I go back to, you don't have to forego safety to have innovation and ingenuity."

"I'm not siding with the Democrats," Kremer said. "I am not a tech person. I'm not anti-AI. I'm not anti-technology. I'm not anti-data center."

"I am a mom with common sense and I'm a conservative, and it only makes sense that guardrails are put in place," she added.

After all, Kremer said, AI companies aren't partisan actors.

TRUMP'S AI RACE WITH CHINA COULD BECOME THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF OUR TIME

"They don't care about Republicans, they don't care about Democrats, they don't care about Americans. At the end of the day, I think they care about their own companies and their technology, and that's what, what drives them," she said. "And so, everything with these guys I think is contractual, you know, it's not, 'these are my friends, these are the people, I have the same ideology.' It's contractual, it's what benefits them and I think that's why they've cozied up to President Trump and Republicans in this administration and Congress."

In a high-stakes summit in Washington, D.C., last week, AI was a hot topic of discussing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump, though what exactly was discussed remains under wraps.

"The Trump administration’s priority is to ensure there is a booming economy so that workers have many opportunities and experience limited volatility from any short-term disruptions," a White House official told Fox News Digital. "The goal is for workers to continue to have access to high paying jobs and that workers can easily adapt to new technologies and processes."

OBAMA CRITICIZES TRUMP ON APPROACH TO AI, ESCALATES WARNING FOR STRONGER REGULATION

As for children's safety, the official pointed Fox News Digital to its National Policy Framework on Artificial Intelligence.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

That framework calls on Congress to implement a number of AI child safety measures, including empowering parents with tools to control their children's content exposure, privacy settings, content exposure and account controls.

It also asks the lawmaking body to "establish commercially reasonable, privacy protective, age assurance requirements (such as parental attestation) for AI platforms and services likely to be accessed by minors," and ensure that AI platforms implement safeguards against child sexual exploitation and self-harm.

One group of married Americans is having more sex — and happier marriages

Study suggests married Catholics who attend services regularly reported some of the highest levels of sexual frequency

Married couples who regularly attend church report having more frequent sex and greater sexual satisfaction than those who attend less often or not at all, according to a new report from the Institute for Family Studies (IFS) in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Researchers analyzed findings from multiple datasets, including the 2026 IFS Religion and Family Survey of 3,125 married adults ages 18–54, the long-running nationally representative General Social Survey, and a separate survey of 1,219 alumni of FOCUS, a Catholic campus ministry.

Regular churchgoers reported having more frequent sex than less religious or non-religious married adults, with regularly attending Catholics reporting some of the highest levels of sexual frequency. The association remained even after accounting for demographic differences.

COMMON MARRIAGE HABIT COULD QUIETLY KILL YOUR SEX LIFE, EXPERT WARNS

Among married adults ages 20 to 54, 62% of regular churchgoers reported having sex at least once a week, compared with 48% of nonreligious spouses, according to the report.

In addition to frequency, sexual satisfaction was also higher among church attendants. Catholics and Protestants who regularly attended religious services were more likely to rate their sex lives positively than those who attended less often or had no religious affiliation.

Daily prayer was linked to greater sexual satisfaction among married Catholics and Protestants, though it was not associated with more frequent sex.

Among churchgoers, 55% of Catholics and 45% of Protestants rated their sex lives as "excellent" or "very good," compared with 45% of nominal Catholics, 35% of nominal Protestants and 40% of religiously unaffiliated respondents.

‘QUIET QUITTING’ IN MARRIAGE: THE SUBTLE SIGNS A SPOUSE HAS EMOTIONALLY CHECKED OUT

Those who viewed marriage as a permanent commitment were more likely to report both frequent and satisfying sex. That belief, along with shared values, was also strongly associated with overall marital quality.

Study limitations

Because the analysis was observational, it cannot determine whether religious practice directly causes better marital or sexual outcomes, the authors acknowledged.

Additionally, the marital outcomes were self-reported, and other unmeasured differences between religious and non-religious respondents could have influenced the results.

Differences in factors such as age and length of marriage could also make it challenging to strike comparisons with the broader population.

The study was funded by FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students.

Marriage therapist reacts

Jessica Steinman, a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified sex addiction therapist in Los Angeles, spoke with Fox News Digital about the potential relationship between religious activity and the quality of a couple’s sex life.

"When we think of people who are really involved in religion … we might think they're not having a lot of sex or that they're having very constricted views on their sex lives," she said. "And this article and research show that's changing."

WHY COUPLES SHOULD FLIRT WITH EACH OTHER EVERY DAY — PLUS THE ‘RED FLAG’ TO AVOID

People who actively participate in a shared spiritual or religious life may also feel more connected to one another as partners, according to Steinman, who is also the chief clinical officer for No Matter What Recovery in Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin.

"If they're showing up and looking at things outside themselves — things that are spiritual, things that are religious, things are having them look inward, things that are having them look into larger morals and values within their marriages and partnerships — I think they're going to possibly have happier marriages and partnerships," the therapist said.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE HEALTH STORIES

They may also be more vulnerable and open with one another, which could contribute to a more active sex life, she added.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER

The rituals and shared practices associated with religious life likely play a role in strengthening that connection, the expert suggested.

"Certain religious settings are really focused on rituals and traditions," Steinman said. "And if you're looking at partnership and marriage … engaging in sexual connection and sexual intimacy can really become a ritual itself."

The research highlighted what has been described as an ongoing "sex recession," where people are not engaging in sexual intimacy as much as they once did.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

Regardless of religious affiliation, Steinman encourages people to find ways to connect with their partners.

"Get off the phones, get off of the internet, turn the TV off and start really connecting with your partner," she advised.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

Steinman suggested that partners engage with one another and build connections that go deeper than simply asking, "How was your day?"

That can include building emotional openness and discussing how partners want to connect sexually, she said.

JACK CARR: The lesson from FlyDubai is simple. Be ready to save yourself

The knife attack over Saudi Arabia on the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv route could have killed everyone without passenger intervention

The events on FlyDubai Flight 1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on 30 September 2026 reads like something out of one of my thrillers. But what occurred in the skies over Saudi Arabia was not fiction, it was real world and highlights an adage I learned long ago and has been repeated in various incarnations across social channels with differing attributions over the years — hope is not a course of action, in most cases, no one is coming to save you, you will need to be your own cavalry.

That means be prepared.

I am actually surprised that this or something like this has not happened previously — an unhinged pilot or co-pilot killing the other, perhaps suicidal, perhaps in search of martyrdom, as what some terrorist organizations call an istishhadi or "martyrdom seeker."

FORMER ISRAELI PM HAILS ‘HEROISM’ AFTER PASSENGERS HELP THWART ALLEGED COCKPIT ATTACK

With prior planning it is possible for pilots to work together in a "martyrdom operation" that would be much harder to thwart. Or a single pilot or co-pilot could work with other "muscle" sitting in first class to prevent passengers from doing what they did on September 30, giving the terrorist in the cockpit time to kill them all or once again turn an airliner into a weapon focused on a specific target.

I think about scenarios like this every time I fly.

I look at and evaluate the passengers, the flight attendants, and I always look in on the pilots as I enter the aircraft, searching for anything that does not look or feel right, remembering something a Vietnam-era Project Delta Army Special Forces soldier told me decades ago: "if it doesn’t look right, it’s probably not."

Trust your instincts — you have them for a reason.

I am also identifying assets and liabilities among those groups. Who is a potential asset if things go south? I’m noting shoes, belts, shirts, watches, hats, bags, sunglasses, tattoos, cauliflower ear, and filing away what that tells me about each person. Which of them are likely to help — and which of them may hinder in the event of an incident.

On September 30, the skies over Saudi Arabia were full of miracles. The pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar, was not immediately incapacitated in the initial knife attack and managed to open the cockpit door before collapsing. Passengers with the instinct to act, fight, and prevail were sitting near the front of the plane, one of the passengers had the wherewithal to pull back on the controls — something he remembered from watching a television show.

HERO FLYDUBAI PILOT SAYS HE WAS 'FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE' AS PLANE PLUNGED AFTER COPILOT ATTACK

And there happened to be a pilot or pilots onboard who were able land the plane. Incredible.

If any one of those things had not happened, we would be talking about a very different incident, one in which every single person on that flight is dead.

I weave a lot of history and the history of terrorism into my thrillers, and I also have a series of non-fiction books on terrorism, the second of which is on Pan Am 103, a plane that exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, on December 21, 1988, killing 259 passengers and crew and 11 residents on the ground. In that attack, there was no warning — a bomb detonated in the cargo hold at 31,000 feet.

The destruction of Pan Am 103 horrified the world — and led to important changes in airline security, thanks in large part to pressure from victims’ families who pushed lawmakers to pass the Aviation Security Improvement Act of 1990. That legislation heightened the focus on domestic and international security, including placing federal security managers at major airports and requiring background checks on all air carrier workers. The law demanded the FAA work in tandem with the FBI, expanded scrutiny of overseas airports, and improved the flow of terrorist threat information.

AMERICA BUILT A FORTRESS AFTER 9/11. THEN THE THREAT STARTED HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT

The recent FlyDubai event should lead to changes as well, namely enhanced pilot screenings. It is not just about qualifications and your ability to fly a plane — it’s about your background, associations, and your mental stability.

If, for example, a background check finds that instead of funding your 401(k) each month, you are diverting funds to Hezbollah or a charity funding terrorist organizations — an obvious red flag — you should not be a pilot and certainly should not be flying a plane full of Israelis into Tel Aviv.

This is common sense to most, but common sense seems to be in limited supply these days.

The model for hijackings and the use of terror focused on airlines was different before September 11, 2001. Typically, in the 1970s and 1980s, planes were hijacked and the passengers were exchanged for prisoners or ransomed — sometimes a passenger or passengers were killed to make a point.

SEN MCCORMICK: THE HEROIC PASSENGERS OF FLIGHT 93 SHOWED AMERICA HOW TO STAND UNITED

From a tactical security standpoint that meant that you would want a window seat so you were not in the aisle where you could be struck and injured or grabbed by a terrorist — you wanted to be able to survey the situation, bide your time, and act when appropriate.

On September 11, 2001, that paradigm shifted — planes and passengers were not being hijacked to bring about a political end or for a ransom, they were being turned into weapons. That adaptation by terrorists meant protectors needed to act quickly in the event of a hijacking. They moved from window seats to aisle seats to be in an advantageous position to recognize the threat and take immediate decisive action. And by "protectors" I do not mean military or law enforcement, I mean citizens. I am referring to those who have not suppressed the will to fight and have not outsourced their protection to a government or outside entity who is not coming to save them.

Protecting those who cannot protect themselves is our responsibility as citizens, as husbands, as fathers. The FlyDubai incident is an example of that duty and of the warrior mindset — from the pilot to the passengers who all acted heroically to save the day.

Col. John Boyd developed something called the OODA Loop — Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. In combat, in most cases, whoever does that faster than their opponent — or who can disrupt their enemy in the middle of their loop — will be victorious. That is what the pilot and passengers did on the FlyDubai flight. They stepped up and tapped into that primal urge to live and to protect that is in all of our DNA — and they prevailed.

The enemy will learn and adapt to September 30, 2026.

Next time it might be both pilots or it might be one incapacitating the other, working in conjunction with a passenger or passengers who will block access to the cockpit. We must adapt as well to ensure those with mental disorders or associations with terrorist organizations or those who fund them are kept from the ranks of the aviators we all trust with our lives.

As John Steinbeck writes in The Acts of King Arthur and his Noble Knights, "‘Now — I will lay down the law, and you will learn it word by word, and every word must be edged with fire. This is the law. The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain, all else is supplementary.’"

Remember — hope is not a course of action.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

In most cases, no one is coming to save you. Your mind is the ultimate weapon, and you will need it, coupled with the will to fight, to save yourself and your loved ones, and in this case, an entire plane full of innocent people.

Be prepared.
