WATCH: Booker continues to reject SAVE Act despite bombshell NJ voter roll scandal

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., argued the discovery that roughly 6,600 noncitizens were mistakenly eligible to vote in New Jersey does not justify passing President Donald Trump’s SAVE America Act, insisting the error is unrelated to a lack of federal voter ID requirements.

"Nothing in the SAVE Act would have prevented a clerical error like we've seen in Texas and Oregon and New Jersey," Booker said. "We’ve got to protect our voting systems."

New Jersey Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced last week that the state removed roughly 6,600 noncitizens from its voter roll who were eligible to vote in the 2024 presidential election. Sherrill blamed the issue on a "serious software error" in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System.

The scandal comes to light as Trump has been hounding Senate Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, with some GOP members not in favor of passing the legislation and Democrats overwhelmingly opposing it.

"[The SAVE Act] would stop millions of Americans from voting," Booker said about Trump’s efforts to pass the legislation.

Booker argued that Sherrill and the state are actively looking into what led to noncitizens being eligible to vote, as Sherill said she immediately ordered an investigation and for all noncitizens exposed to be taken off voter rolls upon finding out.

"We take this very seriously in New Jersey," Booker said. "People are stepping up."

"We have a governor that's saying this is unacceptable. We're gonna make sure that we get to the bottom of it. People need to be held accountable."

Booker has been vehemently against passing the SAVE Act, referring to it as a "massive voter suppression bill." Democrats opposing the legislation argue that requiring all voters to provide in-person citizen documentation will halt millions of Americans from being eligible to vote in elections.

Despite his opposition to the SAVE Act, Booker told Fox News Digital that election requirements "should always have proof of citizenship for voting." But he argued this should be handled at the state level, even in federal elections.

"The states, as the Constitution says, should handle their voting when there's problems or violations of the law. People should be prosecuted."

There is currently no national standard for identifying or reporting these errors in voting systems, like what was seen in New Jersey. This makes it nearly impossible to truly analyze how widespread the issue is. Republicans in favor of the SAVE Act argue the legislation would help resolve and expose these issues.

"We're going to handle the problems in New Jersey, but I hate how it's being weaponized by some people to advance schemes that actually would hurt Americans," Booker said about the SAVE Act.

Bill Belichick avoids specifics as North Carolina launches probe into GM Michael Lombardi

Before North Carolina played its first game under Bill Belichick, off-field headlines largely drowned out the football conversation.

Now, as fall camp ramps up ahead of the former NFL coach's second season, questions are again swirling about matters away from the field. UNC officials confirmed earlier this week that general manager Michael Lombardi had been placed on leave pending an investigation. School officials announced Thursday that the probe had formally begun.

Details of the investigation remain sparse, and Belichick did little to clarify matters, appearing to sidestep questions about how Lombardi’s indefinite absence could affect the team.

During a news conference, Belichick declined to directly address the situation. "We're working through some things," he said.

"We're at a particular time of the year now where there are certain things that are in play, and certain things that are in play that will happen later in the calendar year. So we're taking it day to day and work through the things that are on the table right now."

Shortly before Belichick made those comments, UNC issued a statement saying that "as a result of concerns behind allegations that led to the personnel action regarding Michael Lombardi announced on July 27, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, through its Office of University Counsel, is in the process of investigating this matter."

The investigation is being treated as a human resources matter, with no timeline set for a resolution. Athletic director Steve Newmark acknowledged the need for a thorough process but added that the school hopes to complete it "as quickly as possible."

"From our perspective, and I think there's a recognition across the board, that the university counsel's office is going to have this go as quickly as possible," Newmark said. "But I think it's also important they do it the right way and they gather all the information they need."

Newmark did not say whether the probe involved anyone else in the athletic department and declined to comment on reports of a separate College Sports Commission investigation into the Tar Heels' football program.

UNC Chancellor Lee Roberts initially opted against weighing in on Michael Lombardi’s situation after a regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting. But he recently expressed some frustration with the attention surrounding the issue.

"I'm disappointed that we're talking about this," Roberts said before a recent media session wrapped up. "We should be focusing on our student-athletes and on their success. ... It's distressing to me and everyone else in the administration entrusted with leadership at this remarkable university that this is something we have to spend time on."

The Tar Heels went 4-8 in Belichick’s first season at North Carolina.

Lombardi has hired attorney Tom Mars, 247Sports reported.

Mars released a statement Friday. "Michael hasn't been told anything about the nature of UNC's investigation and welcomes the opportunity to clear his name, which has already been sullied by baseless statements and innuendo on social media," the statement read.

"He is fully cooperating with UNC and expects the investigation will be swift, thorough, and fair. Michael would ask that people have the decency to let the process run its course before jumping to any conclusions about the nature of the investigation or whether there's any merit to whatever has been alleged."

Mamdani not called to speak at NYC funeral of Army sergeant killed in Iranian attack: report

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was reportedly denied the opportunity to speak Friday during the funeral of Army Sgt. Angel Sarah Rampersad in Queens, one of three U.S. service members killed in Jordan during an Iranian attack on July 17.

Mamdani attended the service at a church in Ozone Park but did not deliver remarks honoring Rampersad.

According to the New York Post, Mamdani appeared to review prepared remarks on an iPad as other dignitaries spoke, but his name was never called.

A source familiar with the funeral told the New York Post that Rampersad's family chose not to have Mamdani speak in an effort to avoid any "political distractions."

The mayor's office later released his prepared remarks.

The Department of War said Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, was killed in action during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

According to U.S. Central Command, Rampersad and two other U.S. service members were killed while CENTCOM and partner forces "defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks."

The other two service members killed were identified as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas. They were deployed to Jordan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the international campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Rampersad was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52d Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany. She served as a 25U Signal Operations Support Specialist, according to the Department of War.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her home in Tucson's upscale Catalina Foothills neighborhood in the early hours of Feb. 1, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI.

She was last seen there just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, when a relative dropped her off.

In the weeks after her suspected abduction, authorities struggled to publicly identify a person of interest, suspect or any vehicles connected to the crime.

Nancy Guthrie travels to dinner at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Guthrie is last seen at her residence in the Catalina Foothills Saturday evening, when a relative dropped her off at home, according to Sheriff Chris Nanos. Two minutes later, her garage door closes.

The doorbell camera at Nancy Guthrie's home "disconnects," according to Nanos' timeline. Authorities would later recover video from her missing Nest camera, despite the fact that the device is unaccounted for, and she did not pay for a cloud subscription.

It shows a masked man, wearing long sleeves and gloves, carrying an Ozark Trail backpack and what appears to be a holstered pistol.

2:12 a.m.:

A security camera detects an unidentified person's presence.

The last time Guthrie's pacemaker synced with her phone via a Bluetooth connection. It is presumed that this is when she was physically taken out of range.

Guthrie fails to meet friends to watch a stream of their church service. They alerted relatives, who went to check on her and reported her missing.

Relatives arrive at the home to find her missing and blood drops on her front porch. They placed a 911 call 7 minutes later, and deputies arrived at 12:15 p.m.

8:55 p.m.:

PCSD announces a search and rescue effort involving helicopters, infrared cameras and drones. They found no trace of her.

"Guthrie is 84 years old and is not of good physical health, and so naturally that’s a great concern," Nanos said. "This is very concerning to us. We don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this, but it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house."

9:17 a.m.:

Nanos holds the first of three news briefings in the days after Guthrie's suspected abduction.

"We believe now, after we processed that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene that we do, in fact, have a crime," he says. "She did not leave on her own. We know that."

Nanos downplays concerns that Guthrie had become disoriented and wandered off, adding that she has limited mobility and has medication that she needs to take every 24 hours.

"[She's] sharp as a tack," he said.

Investigators were seen in the area where Nancy Guthrie lives, including sheriff's department helicopters.

Wednesday, Feb. 4:

The FBI is brought into the case.

Savannah Guthrie responds to a purported ransom note, publicly asking anyone who may be holding her mother to provide proof that she is alive.

No proof of life has been publicly confirmed, and the family's offer to pay the ransom did not result in Nancy's return.

Authorities also announced an arrest connected to a separate impostor ransom demand, which investigators said is unrelated to Guthrie’s disappearance.

Friday, Feb. 6:

Investigators return to Guthrie's home, clearing the media from the immediate area. They search the property again and are seen on drone video removing home security cameras from the pool house roof.

Authorities later remove a blue SUV from Guthrie's garage and towed it to an impound lot.

President Donald Trump tells reporters aboard Air Force One that he believes the case could soon be solved.

"I think we're doing very well on that regard," Trump said. "We have some clues, I think, that are very strong. And I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon."

"I'm talking about a solution. We have some things I think that will maybe come out reasonably soon from DOJ or FBI, or whoever," he continued. "It could be definitive."

Sunday, Feb. 8:

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says it will maintain a security presence at Nancy Guthrie’s residence at the request of her family. Deputies remained stationed there for weeks, before the FBI released the home back to Guthrie's family.

Monday, Feb. 9:

3:42 p.m.:

Savannah Guthrie issues another public plea for help bringing her mother home, thanking supporters around the country for their prayers.

"My sister and brother and I and our mom have felt this love, because we believe that somehow, somehow, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her, even in this moment and in this darkest place," she says.

5 p.m.:

A second purported ransom deadline passes in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, despite the family's offer to meet the ransom demand.

Tuesday, Feb. 10:

12:52 p.m.:

FBI Director Kash Patel releases images of a suspect at Nancy's front door. The subject appears covered head to toe, wearing a ski mask and gloves, and what appears to be a holstered gun.

Savannah Guthrie later reposts the photos to her Instagram account, and shares a brief message with her followers.

"Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home."

9:18 p.m.:

A delivery driver named Carlos Palazuelos, of Rio Rico, Arizona, is detained and questioned by authorities in relation to the case. An address associated with him, located in a tiny desert town just north of the border with Mexico, is searched.

However, several hours later, he is released without charges.

Wednesday, Feb. 11:

Authorities conducting a canvass of North Campbell Avenue find more than a dozen gloves, including one pair deemed of interest about 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie's home. They are tested for DNA, which ultimately is not a match in the FBI's CODIS database for known offenders and are traced back to a local restaurant worker. Authorities say the worker has no connection to the case.

Thursday, Feb. 12:

10:48 a.m.:

A white tent is erected outside of Nancy Guthrie's home, and investigators shuffle in and out. It is later revealed that the FBI sent experts to the scene to create a physical description of the man seen on her Nest doorbell camera video.

6:04 p.m.:

The FBI raises the reward for information that cracks the case to $100,000.

The agency also provided more descriptors for the man seen on doorbell camera footage outside her home the night of the suspected kidnapping, describing him as between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

The FBI also said he was wearing a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.

Friday, Feb. 13:

Nanos confirms investigators recovered DNA from the scene from an unidentified person, calling it a key focus of the investigation. He sends the evidence to a private lab in Florida.

That evening, a major SWAT operation involving officers from local departments and FBI agents targets a local ex-con named Luke Daley, who was pulled over at a Culver's restaurant near Guthrie's home as officers raided his mother's home near Orange Grove Road.

However, hours later, Daley is released without charges.

Sunday, Feb. 15:

The FBI says that gloves found about two miles from Nancy Guthrie's home appear to match that of the suspect seen on Guthrie's doorbell camera. They are sent to CODIS, the bureau's federal database of known offenders, to look for a match. They later came back with no hits and the gloves were ultimately linked to a restaurant worker with no connection to the case, according to authorities.

7:56 p.m.:

Savannah Guthrie pleads on Instagram for the return of her mother in the fourth video posted on her social media since her mother disappeared.

"I wanted to come on, and um, it's been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope, and we still believe," Savannah Guthrie said. "And I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it's never too late, and you are not lost or alone."

Monday, Feb. 16:

The Pima County Sheriff's Department issues a statement on X ruling out Guthrie's adult children and their spouses as suspects in the case.

"To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case," Nanos says. "The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case."

The family members are victims, too, he adds.

"To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel," he says.

Wednesday, Feb. 18:

Authorities confirm that there is no evidence to suggest that Nancy has been across the southern border into Mexico, adding that they had communicated with Mexican officials about the possibility.

Tuesday, Feb. 24:

Savannah Guthrie announces a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for her disappearance. She urges anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or contact her directly.

She also announces a donation of $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to support other families facing similar circumstances.

Savannah Guthrie releases a new video message pleading for her mother’s safe return and asking the public for help. In the video, she makes an emotional appeal for information as the search continues.

Separately, a neighbor reports seeing a suspicious young man in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood about two weeks before the 84-year-old is believed to have been abducted from her Tucson home.

Aldine Meister, who told Fox News Digital she has lived in the area for nearly 30 years, described the man as appearing out of place.

"He didn’t have your typical walking gear on, and he had his hat pulled really far over his eyes," Meister said.

Thursday, Feb. 26:

Fox News Digital receives Ring surveillance video from a Catalina Foothills neighborhood resident that shows a dozen vehicles coming and going from Camina Real, a back road in and out of the community, including one that could potentially align with the timing of Guthrie's suspected abduction.

The house is roughly a seven-minute drive from Guthrie's address, according to Google Maps. One of the videos was recorded at around 2:36 a.m. on Feb. 1, which is roughly eight minutes after Guthrie's pacemaker last synced with her iPhone, according to the sheriff's timeline.

The FBI and PCSD were alerted to the video.

The route itself had been flagged to Fox News Digital by another neighbor — who said she also saw a suspicious man walking in the area on Feb. 2, around the corner from what appeared to be an abandoned car. The young mother asked not to be named due to concerns for her children's safety amid the unsolved kidnapping investigation.

Monday, March 2:

Savannah Guthrie, her older sister Annie, and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni, make a solemn visit to the growing display of yellow flowers at Nancy's mailbox.

Yellow signifies hope for a safe return.

The trio, escorted by private security and local deputies, place flowers of their own. Annie also leaves a card addressed to her mother.

Savannah is back in New York City, where she's seen visiting "Today" show colleagues at NBC's midtown Manhattan studio.

Friday, March 13:

Law enforcement sources reveal that investigators have uncovered additional images from Guthrie's home security cameras — but nothing new from the night of the abduction and nothing considered a major break in the case.

The images were taken in the days and weeks leading up to her disappearance and were recovered from three separate cameras — at Guthrie's front door, over her driveway and in the backyard, a law enforcement official close to the Guthrie case tells Fox News. There is no new video.

Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts remain unknown. The reward, risen to more than $1.2 million, remains unclaimed.

Monday, April 6:

Savannah Guthrie returned to the "Today" show over two months after her mother first went missing.

"Good morning, welcome to ‘Today’ on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it is good to be home," Savannah Guthrie said.

During her return to NBC's morning show, fans cheered Savannah Guthrie as she walked out to Rockefeller Plaza.

"You guys have been so beautiful," Savannah Guthrie said.

Fellow "Today" co-host Craig Melvin was attacked inside a vestibule near Studio 1A. The NYPD arrested 41-year-old Andrew Truelove on hate crime charges for allegedly hurling a racial slur at Melvin after sneaking into a secure area of NBC's space at Rockefeller Center while allegedly looking for another host, Al Roker.

Savannah Guthrie released her first statement on the case in weeks, pleading with her mother's abductors to help bring the ordeal to a close.

"Do the right thing now," Guthrie urged her mother's unidentified kidnappers. "Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her."

The Pima County Sheriff's Department released a pair of ransom notes on July 31 in the hope that someone can identify the author due to similarities between them that indicate they were written by the same person, who authorities said used a "unique linguistic style." They were sent on Feb. 2 and Feb. 6.

The style is so distinct, that someone may be able to recognize the writer, authorities said.

The notes included references to the crime scene that may not have been public at the time they were sent — including details about the location of Guthrie's Apple Watch and the smashed floodlight in her backyard.

SEC, Big Ten agree to support historic 'Protect College Sports Act' after intense negotiations

It's only fitting that negotiations between the SEC and Big Ten over the historic "Protect College Sports Act" came down to the final days before senators could bring the legislation to the floor for a vote.

Between the late-night conversations involving senators, the White House and conferences across college athletics, everyone knew they were racing against the clock to reach a version of the bill that all sides could support.

The dire time restraints were real, along with the contentious Zoom meetings or phone calls that have taken place over the past five months.

As Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), along with Eric Schmitt (R-MO), led the charge to present a bipartisan bill that would satisfy the power brokers, reaching an actual agreement between parties involved looked almost impossible just days ago.

"Now progress can now be made in protecting women and Olympic athletes and moving this legislation closer to the President's desk," Senator Maria Cantwell told OutKick-Fox News

And these conversations were taking place all across the country. While Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti worked the room at media days in Chicago, he remained in constant communication with conference officials while also speaking with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey as many as 10 times on Wednesday alone.

The Big Ten met at 1 p.m. ET Thursday, while the SEC, Big 12 and ACC hopped on a conference call at 4 p.m. ET. To say that this was an eventful day for congressional aides and senate staff would be an understatement.

But, none of this should come as a surprise, given that there is so much at-stake right now in college athletics.

It's politics, so this probably feels like a random Wednesday in Washington.

A White House official had this to say to OutKick-Fox News on Thursday afternoon about the ongoing negotiations:

"The White House has been following these negotiations closely, and the President has been actively engaged. President Trump wants to save college sports, and he wants the bill done"

Thursday night, sources told OutKick-Fox News that White House officials, along with members of President Trump's college sports committee, were involved in conversations on what the next steps would be to get this to the Senate floor. New York Yankees president Randy Levine and Texas Tech booster Cody Campbell have been helping lead the charge from the committee's standpoint.

On Friday afternoon, we reached back out to the White House regarding a push from President Trump to get the bill approved by all parties involved.

"At the President's direction, the White House and his College Sports Committee have been working together closely to deliver a permanent solution to the challenges plaguing college sports"

An all-out sprint to get this college sports legislation to a vote

Let's be honest, all of this felt rushed, with congressional leaders working to get this to the Senate floor for a vote before they are scheduled to take their annual summer recess.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME: SEC, BIG TEN WAIT ON 'PROTECT COLLEGE SPORTS ACT' REVISIONS AS AUGUST RECESS NEARS

In the midst of this battle, Senate Majority Leader John Thune decided to mention that he did not think there would be enough time to get this to the floor.

What he actually did was ignite a fuse between parties involved to get this legislation sorted out enough that the SEC and Big Ten could feel as though they would be able to put their support behind the bill enough to have their conference leaders start lobbying senators across their states to say "Yes" to the bill.

On Friday evening, that patience finally paid off for everyone involved.

There were "deadlines" put into place by one side, while the others knew they had to take their time to sort through the language, knowing how big a deal this was for them to put their support behind a piece of federal legislation that would have major impacts on collegiate sports moving forward.

"This is not easy. We have university's to run, so athletics might be important, but we also have to rightfully consider everything else that is transpiring on our campuses," one Power-4 school president told OutKick-Fox News. "School is about to start back, and thousands of students are heading back to our cities.

"Obviously, we know how important athletics are to our school and the amount of money, and eyes, that it brings in. This was, and has been, an interesting time to be a college president or chancellor. There is a lot at stake here."

Whether it was closing loopholes centered around NIL deals that involved Multimedia Rights companies or a retention cap that would provide athletic departments an additional set of funds to retain athletes on rosters outside of the House settlement figure, this was going to take a while to sort out.

Negotiations are intense, and will keep going with conferences

Majority Leader John Thune needed to file for cloture by Thursday afternoon before he left town for the weekend if this was going to be voted on next week on the Senate floor.

In essence, this became the latest deadline after earlier timelines set by a group of senators proved unrealistic.

But, here are some of the talking points discussed over the past months.

The Multimedia Rights deals with athletes will be included in the cap. Schools will have to sign agreements noting that the money isn’t coming from the university. This was a key provision in the updated language, and the third party deals for athletes with entities such as Multimedia Rights Partners would count towards the rev-share cap.
There is an attestation process, which would force sponsors affiliated with the school to certify that any deal struck with an athlete is not coming directly from the school, or more importantly that the money does not actually come from the school itself or circumvent the rules.
The one-time transfer rule would have a limited antitrust exemption for entities looking to enforce it, while also strengthening the five-year eligibility rule. As we witnessed this season with former pro-basketball players returning to college, the new bill would prevent this from occurring in the future.
The bill would take a harder stance on tampering, outline a procedure along with penalties.
Legislation would grant the conferences and NCAA limited antitrust exemption
A retention pool, separate from House settlement increased from $20 million to $22.5 million. This allows athletic departments to use funds to retain players already on rosters. This also means the overall cap between the two will be $48.8 million per season.
A cap would be put into place that contains stricter guidelines than those currently in place. This would include NIL deals that involve "associated parties" who are connected to the school itself through contract, advertising or media rights.
Setting the amount of members each conference can have at 19. This would allow the Big Ten to add just one team, while the SEC could add three. Along with other conferences adding new schools.
If a school were to move from one power-four conference to another, that school would have to then operate as an independent for a five-year period. This was a major sticking point, and not in the most logical way. But, it creates some protection for the Big 12 or ACC if either the SEC or Big Ten decided it wanted to raid their conference. Think of a school having to operate on its own for a five-year period, without the support of a conference, or revenue.
If a school that is currently independent or in a Group of Six conference wants to move to a power conference like the SEC, ACC, Big Ten or Big 12, they can do this without pushback.
The "Lane Kiffin Rule," which would prohibit coaches from leaving their schools before the season ends. Obviously, this could be challenged.

What happens next? Senators are not going silent into the night

The senators involved deserve a lot of credit in trying to actually have this legislation buttoned up enough for all parties involved to put their support behind it.

Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) continued working the phones, meeting with conference members via videoconference and trying to garner the support needed from the Big Ten and SEC to push the bill forward, which came to a head Friday night.

In order for a vote to actually take place, they need to have this in a place in which Senate Majority Leader John Thune can bring this to cloture on Monday, Tuesday morning at the very latest. Senator Eric Schmitt was actually speaking with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey on Thursday evening, hoping to find some type of resolution.

Schmitt even joined the SEC's call on Friday night to discuss the legislation before the vote was taken.

As for getting this to a vote, the clock was ticking and both the SEC and Big Ten knew it.

The Senate will take their August recess at the end of the next week, as they will technically still be in session on that Friday. But, there is a process to bringing this to the Senate floor, with cloture, which will begin once they arrive back in Washington on Monday.

I think we can all agree that once Congress returns in September, the chances of this being relevant dwindle. Fans are already getting tired of hearing about this legislation and are ready to see their favorite team take the field.

American climber's remains found after avalanche in Pakistan, other mountaineers still missing

The remains of an American mountain climber who got caught in an avalanche in Pakistan were found on Friday, according to Pakistani officials.

Sarah Mallory Geis was climbing Broad Peak in Pakistan's Karakoram mountain range with an international group of at least 10 people when they went missing on Thursday.

A rescue team also found the remains of Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy of Oman and Pur Bahadur Gurung of Nepal on Friday.

There were signs of several more bodies where the rescue team was searching, drone footage showed, according to local officials.

Sajid Hussain, deputy director of the tourism department in Gilgit-Baltistan, called the rescue area "remote and difficult."

Police search for gunman after Walmart employee shot during dispute in Pennsylvania

Police are searching for a gunman after an innocent Walmart employee was shot during an apparent dispute between two men inside a Pennsylvania store Friday evening, authorities said.

Officers responded to the Walmart at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. after reports of gunfire inside the store.

Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa told Fox News Digital investigators believe two men got into a verbal altercation in the self-checkout area before one of them pulled out a handgun and fired.

"It looked like, from what we're gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout," Sousa said. The employee was transported to a hospital. Sousa did not immediately provide an update on her condition.

The suspect fled before officers arrived and remains at large.

Police are reviewing surveillance video in an effort to identify the shooter.

"There is no threat to the public," Sousa said, adding officers have cleared the Walmart and nearby businesses.

NCAA rocked by Colorado judge's 2022 class eligibility ruling that could reshape college sports this year

The NCAA took a massive hit to its new five-and-five eligibility rule that was implemented earlier this month, thanks to a District Court judge in Colorado.

Over the past number of weeks, a plethora of lawsuits have been filed by athletes across the country who were part of the 2022 class that entered college that say the newly introduced rule by the NCAA infringes on their rights to make a living through NIL and have an additional year of eligibility.

The arguments made in court centered on the idea that players who completed their fourth year of eligibility and would have been ineligible under the previous rule should have been grandfathered in because of how the entire process unfolded this summer.

PRESIDENT TRUMP PUSHES LAWMAKERS ON LEGISLATION AS 'PROTECT COLLEGE SPORTS ACT' HANGS ON BY A THREAD

After exhausting their fourth and final season (under previous rule), their time in college would have been completed.

This was essentially how lawyers were attacking the NCAA in a court of law, arguing that if the new five-and-five rule was being implemented, then athletes who exhausted their clock this past season under the old rule should be granted the same rights that players under the new guidelines would be entitled to.

Well, Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court of Colorado has granted a preliminary injunction that is class-wide and orders the NCAA to create a blanket waiver that grants all athletes an additional year of eligibility for the upcoming year.

"All persons in the United States who began to play in collegiate sports in the 2022–2023 season, competed in NCAA Division I sports, and completed four years of eligibility as defined by the NCAA’s prior rules by the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season, and are therefore barred from playing a fifth season due to the NCAA’s adoption and immediate implementation of the Five-Year Eligibility Rule," Judge Sweeney said in her order on Friday.

NCAA D1 BOARD HAS NO PLANS TO CHANGE AGE-BASED ELIGIBILITY RULE

A number of notable names in college basketball filed lawsuits against the NCAA, which included a suit that involved more than 50 different plaintiffs filed on Friday. Now, as those cases continue to play out in a court of law, one judge has ordered that all athletes hoping for an additional year are granted that right.

It should be noted that the NCAA could file an appeal in the Tenth Circuit court, which I imagine they already have prepared. But, the question now looms as to whether the NCAA should just grant a blanket waiver to all athletes, no matter the sport, that will keep the organization out of a courtroom.

What about players that went undrafted and have extra year left?

Other questions have already arisen across college athletics.

How would this pertain to college football and basketball players who went undrafted over the past five months, and were now looking for an avenue back to school for an additional season if they fall under this rule?

TICK TOCK: SEC AND BIG TEN RECEIVE REVISED PROTECT COLLEGE SPORTS ACT AS SENATE VOTE TIMELINE LOOMS

Multiple staffers have indicated to OutKick-Fox News that this question is currently being discussed among compliance departments across college campuses. Also, what does a school do about roster spots.

In reality, most college football and basketball rosters are filled up, but that doesn’t mean a staff couldn’t figure out a way to work the numbers. But, to do that would take finagling, given that we also don't know what the NCAA is going to do in this instance.

Will other schools start looking into the case of Vols linebacker?

Just this week, the NCAA upheld a two-game suspension for Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter. The Vols football player declared for the NFL Draft following the 2025 season, only to suffer an injury just weeks later that forced him to make a tough decision about his future.

Carter decided that since he could not train for the draft, and would obviously tumble during the NFL process, he would return to college for one more season. But, according to antiquated NCAA rules, since he declared, hired an agent and accepted a $427 plane ticket to attend a training session, he was ineligible.

In the aftermath, Tennessee appealed the initial three-game suspension by the NCAA, and had it reduced to two games. But, this was obviously a unique case that could be studied by athletic departments in the coming days.

New York nuns will not be forced to comply with assisted-suicide law while case progresses

A federal judge ruled this week that orders of nuns will not be forced by local state law to recommend medically assisted suicide to their patients while the case is pending in court.

Four orders of Catholic nuns and several Catholic healthcare ministries sued the state of New York in late June regarding a new law that would force them to help terminally ill patients kill themselves, a severe violation of their Catholic faith.

"Forcing Catholic nuns to participate in suicide — and robbing New Yorkers of the choice to receive faithful, life-affirming care— is both unlawful and unjust," Mark Rienzi, president of Becket and lead attorney for the healthcare ministries, said in a statement. "This agreement protects the sisters and those they care for while we fight to end New York’s suicide mandate for good."

Becket successfully appealed to a federal court to block the law before it took effect on August 5.

REP CLAUDIA TENNEY: WHY IS NEW YORK PUNISHING NUNS WHO CARE FOR THE DYING?

The law firm summarized how dire the circumstances are in a press release on its website.

"Beginning August 5, any healthcare provider who declines to prescribe suicide pills could still have to tell terminally ill patients about their ‘right’ to kill themselves, help them meet the requirements for obtaining suicide pills, and direct them to a provider willing to prescribe the lethal drugs," the statement read.

"Refusal invites significant fines, license revocation, or even time behind bars," it continued. "Federal law forbids New York from discriminating against healthcare providers who object to assisted suicide, but New York has done so anyway."

When reached for further comment, the law firm shared multiple statements about the ongoing case from Catholic Church leaders.

"Until our legal fight is resolved, this temporary agreement keeps our ministries free to serve every patient according to the Gospel," the bishop added. "We continue to proclaim that every human life is sacred and worthy of love until its natural end."

Liberal podcaster says he was 'doxed' by Mamdani's 'wanted poster' of property owners

Prominent liberal podcaster and NYU professor Scott Galloway called out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s publicly accessible database, saying it endangers landowners like himself.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani opened a new front in his ongoing battle with New York City's wealthy after his administration published a searchable database identifying affluent property owners who could be subject to the city's proposed pied-à-terre tax, a move critics say could expose them to harassment and public safety risks.

The database, released by the city's Department of Finance, allows users to search properties and view the names and addresses of owners whose non-primary residences could be subject to the proposed tax. A spokesperson for the department said publication of the property roll was required by state law.

Galloway was one of the database’s latest critics, calling it out on the latest episode of the "Pivot" podcast with co-host Kara Swisher, as reported by New York Magazine’s Intelligencer.

"I’ve been doxed," the liberal professor announced on the podcast. "I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Mayor Mamdani has decided to release a list of the 950,000 residences with addresses and names that might be eligible for his pied-à-terre tax."

"I don’t love this," co-host Kara Swisher agreed. "I can’t say I love this. It feels a little bit like doxing. Just tax them and get on with it is my feeling."

Galloway proceeded to read out the definition of doxing as "’publishing private identifying information to expose someone to public pressure or harm without their consent,’" and said that while he is a fan of the tax, he is not a fan of how the list has become a "wanted poster" for property owners.

"He’s taken a legitimate source of tax revenue, and he’s turning it into a wanted poster," he said of Mamdani’s tax list. "The question I would have is, other than trying to identify and imply these people have done something wrong — and then, 18 months after a healthcare CEO was executed in the street, published the list — what is the upside here? Why is he doing this?"

After also addressing Mamdani's comments about arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Galloway lamented that the New York City mayor was vindicating conservatives’ worst fears.

The Republicans, in order to create deficits and continue to transfer money from the poor to the rich, they argue that progressive tax structures are persecution. This plays exactly into that entire narrative."

"He’s implying we’ve done something wrong because we’re successful," Galloway later added. "New York is the last place you want to demonize success."

Galloway went on to argue that it goes against the very appeal of New York.

"The reason people move to New York is they think, ‘I want to be successful on Broadway. I want to be successful in business. I want to be successful in the arts. No one’s going to get in my f---ing way if I’m really talented and work hard,’" he said. "We’re going to celebrate it. We’re not going to put a big R on your door and say you’ve done something wrong because you’re successful."

One key quality Galloway noted was that "Ninety-five percent of the people on the list supposedly aren’t going to be subject to the tax. Other than implying these people have done something wrong and publishing their address without their permission, without their consent, what possible upside is there from publishing this list?"

Fox News Digital reached out to Galloway for additional comment but did not immediately receive a response.

When contacted for comment, the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) President James Whelan told Fox News Digital, "We opposed this tax in part because we warned that determining who is and is not subject to it would be extraordinarily complicated. The fact that so many owners appear to be receiving inaccurate notices raises serious questions about the City's readiness to administer the program. Even we did not expect implementation to be this flawed."

Mamdani's office told Fox News Digital, "It is very important to note that the City publishes property tax rolls (as do other localities) and have for many years," and pointed to remarks the mayor made at a recent press conference addressing concerns.

"So, I just want to — for the sake of clarity — establish a few things," the mayor said. "The first is, and the reason for establishing this is some of them have been conflated. The first is that, just like localities from Nassau to Albany, we publish property tax rolls in accordance with the law, as the city has done twice a year for years, frankly, if not decades and centuries."

"And the tax property role that was posted last week is a reflection of all properties across New York City, not a reflection of those specifically that the pied-à-terre tax will be levied upon," Mamdani continued. "And that is an important distinction because as you've heard from the commissioner, the pied-à-terre tax is something that will be levied upon non-primary residences that are worth more than $5 million."

"When it comes to the recently passed law, there was a requirement to publish this role once again before the implementation of this surcharge," he added.

A city official noted further that state law mandates they "publish a roll of every property parcel that is subject to NYC property taxes - with ownership name, assessment, and how much taxes will be. This is not new."

"The roll is not a pied-a-terre list," the official continued. "It is a state mandated roll that has to be generated to be used as a pool/universe that DOF will examine to identify which properties are subject to a surcharge. This is separate from the 17,000 individuals who received the ‘you may be subject to...’ letter letting them know that they may be potentially subject to the second home surcharge."

"The same type of citywide property tax rolls has been published publicly on an annual basis for decades in adherence to New York State laws," the official added. "Any new type of surcharge or property taxes have gone through the same process: State passes a bill, a roll is published, and DOF uses the roll to identify the appropriate properties to levy based on parameters legally set by the State. People can search for property and property tax records by name, BBL, and address on ACRIS already."

The official also noted that Gov. Kathy Hochul stated that this is not new and highlighted a Bloomberg reporter's tweet saying "The data included in this release is regularly released as part of the city’s property tax assessment roll. It’s a huge data file that anyone can search if they have the bandwidth to download it and look. It’s not new."

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a former contestant on Latvia's version of "Dancing with the Stars" who authorities say overstayed his visa and has a criminal history that includes aggravated assault with a gun, sexual battery and drug-related offenses.

ICE announced Friday that agents arrested Roberts Nemiro, a Latvian national, in San Francisco on Tuesday after a referral from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Nemiro is in removal proceedings after remaining in the United States beyond the expiration of his visa.

Nemiro appeared on "Dejo ar zvaigzni!," the Latvian adaptation of the British television series "Strictly Come Dancing," better known in the U.S. as "Dancing with the Stars."

According to DHS, Nemiro entered the United States on a visa in October 2011 but remained in the country after it expired in August 2012. The agency said his criminal history includes convictions for aggravated assault of a non-family member with a gun and disorderly conduct.

DHS also said he has been arrested on charges of battery, sexual battery, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"This illegal alien from Latvia may have once had a career as a professional dancer on TV, but has turned into a career criminal with a rap sheet that includes aggravated assault with a gun, sexual battery, and drug possession," DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.

The arrest comes as the Trump administration continues to highlight immigration enforcement efforts involving noncitizens accused or convicted of violent crimes while criticizing California's sanctuary policies.

In Friday's release, DHS cited several recent cases involving illegal immigrants arrested or sought by ICE in California and argued that the state's sanctuary policies have hindered federal immigration enforcement.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Friday said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had lodged a detainer asking Texas to not release an El Salvadoran national, who is accused of murder in two fatal shootings and is in the country illegally, without notifying the agency.

Jefferson Adonay Velasquez-Torres, 18, was charged this week with murder for an April 27 shooting outside a Houston nightclub in which Noah Ramirez, 27, died.

Two others were injured in the shooting, according to a report from affiliate FOX 26 Houston.

Hong has leaned into her socialist record in her campaign, describing it as ensuring that "working-class people have their fair share."

Hong shares policy positions with other notable progressives like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, another self-proclaimed socialist. Among other platform positions, Hong is championing race-based grants for social workers, publicly funded grocery stores and a state-run bank.

The stances seem to have paid off as Hong has gained momentum in recent months, and, with under two weeks to go until the primary, looks poised to capture the Democratic nomination.

"Omg English ***TOO **AN," she replied.

"Bold choice for Democrats in Wisconsin running someone statewide who gets a panic attack at Culver's at the sight of ‘old white people,’" Former White House Principal Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer wrote on X.

"The only way this post could be worse for someone running for office in Wisconsin is if she had complained that Culver's uses too much butter," Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter at the Washington Free Beacon, wrote on X.

"One of the democrats running for Governor of Wisconsin doesn't know that Culver's serves only fresh frozen custard. She thinks they serve ice cream. Disqualifying," Brick Suit, an online MAGA personality, wrote on X.

The race was shaken up on Thursday when Mandela Barnes, the state’s former lieutenant governor, dropped out of the race. Barnes was considered a frontrunner in the race because of his proximity to outgoing Gov. Tony Evers and his name recognition.

His exit also coincides with rumblings that Barnes may have abused his position in the past to make sexual advances toward women in the workplace, an allegation currently under investigation by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

With his departure, Hong and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley were left as the two main contenders.

Hong has received backing from a number of nationally recognized progressives, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif. She has raised nearly $709,000 as of late June, according to state records.

On Friday, the user noted that Jennings had not contacted them since and made "no effort to apologize or acknowledge that he was an a--hole about trans people. No lessons learned it seems. I was really hoping for some sign he understood why people are so upset."

For several years, transgender activists have spoken out against The New York Times over what they’ve described as anti-trans coverage, arguing that web traffic and subscriptions to products like its games financially support the outlet.

In 2023, hundreds of New York Times contributors, along with thousands of subscribers, signed an open letter to the paper condemning its coverage of transgender issues. The LGBTQ+ advocacy group GLAAD also sent a letter, calling out "irresponsible, biased coverage of transgender people."

Prosecutors move to dismiss felony vandalism case against Olympian David Hearn over Reflecting Pool

Federal prosecutors moved Friday to dismiss a felony vandalism case against former U.S. Olympian David Hearn, after he was accused of vandalizing the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., as seen in a court filing obtained by Fox News Digital.

Hearn was indicted July 2 on one count of felony destruction of property. U.S. Park Police alleged Hearn grabbed and tugged at a loose section of the pool’s coating on June 19, continuing after a National Park Service employee told him to stop. Officials initially claimed he caused more than $1,000 in damage.

However, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office said the Department of the Interior initially provided prosecutors with "barebones" reports and failed to disclose records documenting extensive problems with the coating’s installation.

"Had DOI been forthcoming with the information clearly in its possession, the government would not have sought a grand jury indictment," prosecutors wrote.

"It was not until after the return of the indictment, that the DOI provided additional documents to the USAO-DC indicating that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings (‘AIC’), and the rush to complete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration in the weeks surrounding Independence Day 2026."

The DOJ said the new evidence made it difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Hearn caused the damage. Prosecutors asked the court to dismiss the indictment without prejudice, which would leave open the possibility of bringing the charge again.

Hearn has previously beaten federal charges.

Hearn was arrested by the U.S. Park Police nearly 30 years ago and ended up beating the charges, according to a 1996 Washington Post article.

That year, the Potomac River turned violent, as intense, heavy rains pushed the water to a terrifying, near-record flood level of 60,000 cubic feet per second.

Authorities immediately issued an emergency river closure. But Hearn took his whitewater canoe straight into the raging rapids, where officers later swooped in and arrested him.

He was charged with failing to obey a lawful order. But Hearn fought the case in court and won on a stunning technicality. But a federal judge dismissed the charges, ruling the Potomac River is controlled by the state of Maryland, meaning the federal Park Police had zero jurisdiction over the water.

Hearn's arrest became a viral sensation after it was captured by journalist Emily Miller. Miller filmed a two-minute video of Hearn being detained, which quickly went viral on X.

Miller accused Hearn of grabbing a hose that female National Park Service workers were using to clear the algae. Hearn denied the accusation, though he admitted his bike tire might have bumped it.

Hearn’s attorneys are demanding an apology on behalf of the Olympian.

OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has reached a plea agreement in the second-degree murder case stemming from the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, her attorneys confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed and will not become final unless they are accepted by the court, according to a statement from the Prieto Law Firm and Puglisi Carames Law, which represent Clenney.

The defense said the agreement is expected to be presented in Miami-Dade County court on Aug. 10.

The death was initially considered self-defense, but investigators continued to dig after vocal concerns from Obumseli's family.

In a heavily redacted police report, officers said they arrived at the couple’s Miami, Florida home around 5 p.m. in response to an aggravated battery call. They met a front desk supervisor who brought them up to the apartment, where police found Obumseli with a single stab wound to the torso.

In a February 2022 video recorded during a trip to Aspen, Colorado, Clenney is seen shouting at and repeatedly striking Obumseli in front of someone who recorded the encounter.

President Donald Trump said Friday that Americans should be prepared for the fighting with Iran to continue, predicting Tehran would eventually "peter out" as U.S. strikes steadily weaken its ability to retaliate.

Asked whether the back-and-forth attacks could continue until Iran was no longer capable of striking back, Trump said, "Yeah, sure, I think so. I’d be foolish to say no. You know, you always have to keep your guard up."

"They’ll get weaker. They’ll get a little stronger, maybe. But they’ll get weaker, and then they peter out," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David, Maryland.

The remarks amounted to an acknowledgment that the five-month conflict could drag on, despite Trump’s claims that the U.S. has decimated Iran’s military and his optimism just days ago that renewed negotiations could produce a deal.

"I think we just want to win," Trump said. "We’re doing very well. We’re trying to be nice — as nice as you can be in a situation like that — but they’re being decimated."

"They have no navy. They have no air force. They have no anti-aircraft," he added. "It doesn’t mean they don’t have any capability. They have some, but very little."

The latest fighting also complicates the administration’s earlier declarations that it had eliminated Iran’s ability to project military power.

The White House said in April that U.S. forces had achieved the objectives of Operation Epic Fury, including destroying Iran’s Navy and its ballistic missile and drone capabilities. Iran has nevertheless continued launching missiles and drones at U.S. bases and threatening commercial shipping.

Trump also said he was "losing faith" in the prospect of reaching a deal with Iran, accusing Tehran of lying about its negotiations with the U.S.

"They do lie, and they do misrepresent," Trump said. "All they do is make me angry."

The renewed fighting has left no clear end to the conflict as the U.S. approaches the November midterm elections, placing greater political pressure on Trump to explain how and when the war will end.

Trump’s remarks came two days after the U.S. launched a heavy wave of strikes against Iranian military sites in response to missile attacks targeting American forces in the region. U.S. Central Command said the strikes hit dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets, including command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal defenses and maritime capabilities.

The renewed exchange followed the collapse of an agreement Washington and Iran reached in June that was intended to end the fighting and restore commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Hostilities resumed in July after Iran attacked vessels transiting the strategically vital waterway.

Trump’s pessimism marked a sharp shift from earlier in the week, when he said the United States was engaged in "very friendly negotiations" with Iran and saw "a good chance" of reaching an agreement. Iran denied that direct talks were taking place but acknowledged that mediators were relaying messages between the two sides.

Oman, Qatar, Pakistan and Egypt have sought to revive the June agreement that was intended to end the fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Those efforts have stalled over control of the critical waterway, sanctions relief and Iran’s nuclear program, while a new exchange of attacks has further dimmed the prospects of a deal.

James Carville warns far-left candidates 'too hard-headed' to know they're unpopular

Democratic strategist James Carville warned during a CNN interview published Thursday that far-left candidates were "too hard-headed" to understand they're unpopular and added, "People don't like 'em."

"Let‘s take in Michigan. [Abdul] El-Sayed is highly competent, but he's way left. I see challenges from the 'progressive left.' And these people are too hard-headed to know that they're not popular. People don't like ‘em. But if you get a skewered turnout in a primary, you might end up losing a race that you should have never lost in the first place," Carville told CNN’s Donie O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan noted Carville's "contempt" for the progressive left during the interview, as socialist victories and candidacies across the U.S. have signaled a leftward shift for the Democratic Party.

Carville warned on his "Politics War Room" podcast Thursday that far-left candidates winning elections are a liability for the party at the national level.

El-Sayed's campaign did not immediately return Fox News Digital's request for comment.

A wave of democratic socialist candidates won Democratic primaries in New York City earlier this year. Abdul El-Sayed's competitive bid for the Democratic nomination for Michigan's U.S. Senate seat and Francesca Hong's frontrunner status in the Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor have also signaled a shift to the left for the party.

On the "Politics War Room" podcast, Carville's co-host, Al Hunt, said that while he disagrees with the narrative that the far-left is ascendant or poised to take over the party, he warned that "it could create problems for other Democrats with a hyped-up narrative that the left is taking over the Democratic Party" and the attention on such candidates "really do pose problems for what otherwise is a good Democratic year."

"I agree, and the problem with Michigan and Wisconsin is what happens in the Michigan Democratic primary doesn't stay in the Michigan Democratic primary," Carville said. "What happens in the Wisconsin Democratic primary for governor doesn't stay in Wisconsin, and they're going to be tagged as part of the Democratic Party."

Carville also rhetorically asked the democratic socialists, "Why don't you get another name? Why are you dragging our names through the mud with your bulls---? If you don't like it, call yourself something else."

Fox News contributor and political commentator Guy Benson told Fox News Digital that Carville's criticism of the far-left wasn't necessarily about political purity.

"While Carville's criticism of these hardcore Leftist candidates is trenchant, it seems like he's most upset that they're risking his party's chances of maximizing power," he said. "He's recently gone on the record in support of destructive, banana republic-style madness like court packing and adding blue states. He's warned Democrats not to campaign on this extremism, but to attain power, then just ram it through.

"So how much of his beef with the outspoken radicals is about their wild-eyed candor, rather than real, substantive opposition to their radicalism?"

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) national co-chair appeared on "Fox News Sunday" last week and was asked if the group supported a wide range of far-left policy positions.

Speaking to Fox News' Shannon Bream, DSA national co-chair Megan Romer fired off a series of "yes" and "true" responses when asked whether the organization's platform calls for dismantling major American institutions.

"[You're advocating for] abolish[ing] the Senate?" Bream asked.

"True," Romer responded.

Romer also affirmed the organization's support for replacing the presidency and Supreme Court, abolishing ICE, eventually eliminating national borders while granting amnesty to people living in the country illegally, defunding the Pentagon, phasing out prisons and shifting most large corporations to public ownership.

She said some proposals, including abolishing borders and prisons, are part of the organization's long-term vision.

Mangione lawyers say media limits at murder trial are unconstitutional, fear court will 'hand-pick' press

Lawyers for accused UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione argued in a new court filing that the media access rules for his upcoming state murder trial violate his constitutional right to a public trial.

Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Mangione's attorney, argued in a Friday filing that limiting the trial to 68 journalists is unconstitutional, raising concerns that the court or district attorney could "hand-pick" which reporters are permitted to attend.

In the filing, Mangione's attorney raised three objections that they argue amount to a constitutional violation:

That the court is partially closing his trial by declining to use an available overflow courtroom.
That the court and district attorney are hand-selecting which reporters can attend.

Agnifilo claimed that her team wasn't consulted on media access for the upcoming September trial, and only became aware of a document titled "Media Access: PSNY v. Mangione" from an independent journalist on X.

"These guidelines were created without any consultation with or input from the defense. The guidelines provide that no overflow room will be made available for the duration of the trial, and that only six journalists will be permitted to cover jury selection, in a dramatic break from customary practice," she wrote.

Agnifilo called the process "unabashedly arbitrary and insufficient to satisfy the requirements of the Constitution."

Mangione's attorney is requesting a public hearing on the matter and wants the court to turn over a list of six journalists apparently picked to cover jury selection, the list of 68 journalists granted permission to cover the trial proceedings, as well as an explanation of the criteria and who made the selection.

Mangione's attorneys are also seeking details on what efforts were made to secure an overflow courtroom and are requesting that the proceedings be broadcast live, as there isn't currently an overflow room.

Mangione's federal trial won't begin until January.

Fox News Digital reached out to Agnifilo's office for comment.

FIRST ON FOX: DHS points to ‘common sense’ reason for collapsing crime: ‘No surprise’

FIRST ON FOX: As the White House touts "collapsing" violent crime rates in the U.S., the Department of Homeland Security is pointing to the deportation of violent criminal illegal immigrants as the "common sense" reason.

A new analysis by the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ) released this month reported that homicides will "likely" reach a "new historic low" in the U.S. as most crime rates continue to decline mid-year. CCJ reported that homicides in a sample group of large U.S. cities are down 18% from the previous year, which is on pace for the lowest level since 1900. Additionally, carjackings are down 47%; motor vehicle thefts are down 20%; robberies are down 17% and residential burglaries are down 13%.

The White House touted the report as evidencing "extraordinary progress" in "delivering on one of President Trump’s core promises to restore law and order."

Assistant DHS Secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital, "It is common sense. When you remove criminals from the country, crime rates fall."

ICE LODGES DETAINER FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ACCUSED OF TRYING TO DISARM VIRGINIA POLICE OFFICER

The agency shared exclusively with Fox News Digital some of the "worst of the worst" criminal illegal immigrants who have been deported just in the last few weeks. Recent deportees include foreign nationals convicted of homicide, drug trafficking, aggravated assault, carjacking and other crimes, in addition to multiple with illegal re-entries into the country.

Among those deported was a member of the foreign terrorist organization Tren de Aragua, a Honduran national named Jared Adonay Cruz-Rivera, according to DHS. He was deported on July 18 following a previous conviction for robbery and an arrest on charges of drug possession.

DHS said that one deportee, Olegario Ramirez, a Mexican national and Paisas gang member, has a criminal history including convictions for homicide and illegal re-entry into the U.S. He was deported on July 27.

Another Mexican national deported the same day was Bulmaro Rendon-Ramos, a Surenos gang member, who had convictions for robbery, burglary and four counts of driving under the influence of liquor.

Nammoun Khampanya, a Crips gang member from Laos, was deported on July 28 following convictions for cocaine possession, possession of a weapon, obstructing police and fraud.

A Cuban national, Omar Loaces Gonzalez, was deported on July 17. His criminal history includes convictions for vehicle theft and wire fraud.

Additionally, Haitian national Marc James Guerrier Pinard was deported on July 16 following his convictions for three counts of armed carjacking and an arrest on charges of burglary.

Commenting on the deportations, Bis told Fox News Digital that "President Trump promised to make America safe again, and he has done just that."

"Crime has fallen to record lows under the Trump administration, including murders on pace to drop to the lowest level in 126 years. It’s no surprise that this drop in crime coincides with deportations of dangerous criminal illegal aliens," she said.
