Fetterman unleashes on 'dirtbag' wing of Dems after far-left victories: 'Orgy of socialism'

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., unloaded on his own party on Sunday evening, blasting a series of victories for progressives he called "anti-America."

"Big night for the dirtbag left," Fetterman said, referring to New York’s recent primaries, where two members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) won primaries.

"I’ve said the party is becoming an orgy of socialism. Clearly anti-America, anti-Western Civilization," Fetterman said.

Fetterman’s striking calls give a rare look at how some moderates may view the developments on their far-left flank that have dominated the party’s momentum in recent months, sparking concern that their high visibility is dragging the party further and further left.

His comments come on the heels of a handful of key progressive victories.

In Maine, Graham Platner, a controversial Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, has attracted controversy for denying knowledge of the meaning behind a Nazi-linked tattoo, for off-color comments about race and calling himself a "communist" in a deleted Reddit post.

In New York, one DSA member, Claire Valdez, won a primary on a platform of abolishing ICE and a Green New Deal-style approach to climate change. Similarly, Darializa Avila-Chevalier, another DSA candidate, beat out incumbent Rep. Adriano Espillat, D-N.Y., a high-ranking Democrat and the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Both Chevalier and Valdez had the backing of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is a self-proclaimed socialist

The wins have captured national attention and drawn criticism from Republicans who have pointed to their success as emblematic of the direction of the Democratic Party.

Fetterman, who has not shied away from confrontations, has been one of the few Democrats to express alarm about the kind of candidates carrying the party’s banner.

"I mean, you look at some of the things that people have said. Abolish prison, abolish the border, abolish ICE, I mean these crazy people — I have colleagues in my caucus that refuse to even call this out," Fetterman said.

"Between P-hustle in Maine and some of the other winners in New York, they should form their own party and run on all the things that they’ve had to delete on social media," Fetterman said, referring to Platner.

I love a good celebration, and Americans know how to go all-out to celebrate. Whether it’s Halloween, Christmas or even a major sporting event, we decorate, we costume, we have themed and branded food and we fête the specific holiday or milestone. And, as Americans, we go hard.

As such, I was looking forward to an all-out barrage of red, white and blue patriotism coming from every direction as we headed into 2026, the 250th anniversary of our declaration of independence from England and the milestone celebrating the founding of our great country.

Now, as we are just a week away from July 4th, I find myself still looking.

Capitalism, it seems, has failed America’s 250th anniversary.

In a land of clever people who look to lean into every possible opportunity, it seems like our 250th has been a wasted one. Sure, you can find some merchandise here and there, or your normal July 4th fare, but the economic response to this huge milestone event has been utterly milquetoast at best.

I expected to see T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters and more in red, white and blue, emblazoned with oversized "America 250" and "America: Established 1776." I expected to see accessories proudly featuring stars and stripes and "250." I expected every grocery store product, from condiments to candy, to feature not only limited-edition red, white and blue variations, but branding about celebrating 250 years of America.

Where are the crazy themed decorations, the 250th balloons and the commemorative knick-knacks? Where are the blow-up Uncle Sams on the suburban lawns? Where are the special festivals and events? The big apple pie baking contests?

Why, when I walk down the street, is it not covered in red, white and blue from top to bottom and oversized "America’s 250th" banners, not just for the 4th of July, but all year long?

It seems like we have witnessed more American patriotism from foreigners visiting America for the FIFA World Cup than we have seen from American industry.

Corporate America is usually first to jump on any theme, event or milestone. The fact that they have largely ignored America’s 250th is incredibly disappointing. For those who might say that they don’t want to get too "political," not only has it never stopped them in the past, but, moreover, the founding of our country isn’t about a political party.

In fact, America’s 250th is about all of us as individuals. America was founded on a unique idea, to uphold and protect the rights of each of us as individuals. It’s a celebration of independence and a celebration of people over government. It’s a celebration of defying odds through smarts, grit and strategy and being willing to put ideas into action.

MORNING GLORY: Senator Susan Collins and the nation’s national defense

Extraordinarily gifted legislators in the United States Senate are rare. As preconditions to their effectiveness they must accumulate both significant seniority in the body of 100, and the respect of their ever changing 99 colleagues. It’s a small club — the United States Senate — and everyone knows who has got the ability and the respect to guide big lifts through the (intentionally) complicated process.

Maine’s Senator Susan Collins is one of the handful of senators who command the respect of her Republican Conference colleagues and most of the Democratic senators who actually care about making the country run well. That is why Collins is the Chair of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee and is also one of the 17 senators on the critical Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. (Collins is also a member of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.)

As chair of the Appropriations Committee, Collins has a unique power to guide the country’s spending. In partnership with the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee ("SASC") Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), Collins’ greatest responsibility as a legislator is to assure the American military is fully funded to the level necessary to "provide for the common defense" as the Preamble of the Constitution succinctly puts it.

Collins long ago earned a reputation as a Senate "workhorse," and her 10,000th consecutive Senate roll call vote — extending the unbroken voting streak she began in 1997 — made her the first Senator in U.S. history to have cast this many votes without ever missing one. Even as Joe DiMaggio’s 1941 run of hits in 56 consecutive games is regarded as untouchable, so is Collins’ remarkable milestone (which towers higher with every roll call vote she makes.)

All of that experience and all of that earned respect will be needed in the weeks and months immediately ahead as Collins, along with Wicker and the Senate GOP leadership, tackle perhaps the most difficult challenge of her already distinguished and widely admired career: Allocating the funds needed to modernize the Pentagon in an era of rapidly changing technology when it comes to war and intelligence gathering, both the visible markers of American power like ships, submarines and the new B-21 bombers which provide the nation with deterrence and the secret and extraordinarily sensitive virtual stockpiles of cyber strength. Collins must do this even as hyper-partisanship engulfs the country’s politics.

Collins faces the urgent need to thread this extremely partisan era which is defined by negative polarization and rhetorical extremism of both the far left and far right. The nation requires a steady and effective set of military appropriation bills that will keep the nation’s defenses funded for the immediate demands of the conflict with Iran, even as the United States must continue to define and meet the challenge posed by the aggressive plans of China’s iron-fisted Leninist dictator Xi Jinping.

That Collins is leading in this moment of peril is very fortunate for the country. That she has to do so in what is for her an election year against a self-described "communist" and wildly extremist radical from the fringe of the Democrat’s far left edge is a new challenge.

Graham Platner was nominated by the Democrats because he is a human wrecking ball. By nominating the very opposite of Collins when it comes to achievement and temperament, the radical wing of the Democrats hope to cripple the Senate by denying it one of its most effective members. They are asking Mainers to destroy their own state’s vast advantage in the Congress in the service of their anti-West, anti-American, anti-Israel and antisemitic agenda.

They are also aiming to deeply injure the process that defends America at this crucial moment.

The House and Senate must soon decide how to proceed on the Pentagon’s budget for 2027 and beyond. Both the SASC and the Senate Appropriations Committee must act. SASC provide the defense spending architecture via the National Defense Authorization Act ("NDAA"), but as the Wall Street Journal noted this past weekend the NDAA "is a policy guide not a check, and the big question is whether the President’s $1.5 trillion defense budget" will actually pass and in what form and via what process.

Genuine legislators like Collins would prefer to use "regular order" to hold hearings, conduct mark-ups and send proposed bills to House-Senate conference committees. That is the ideal. That ideal is doomed to fail this year as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, assailed by his party’s radicals, is intent on creating a government shutdown before the midterms.

That shutdown isn’t a prophecy or a dart thrown with a blindfold. It’s the inevitable result of how the Democrats have framed the midterm elections this fall. Schumer cannot stop the House from enacting a defense budget but he can and will make the Senate’s regular order grind to a halt in order to satisfy his party’s whacko left-wing with a shutdown.

Which puts Collins and every Republican who is serious about keeping our military strong in a bind. The military must be as equipped and prepared in an era of rapidly evolving threats and technology. It cannot lurch from "Continuing Resolution" to "Continuing Resolution" ("CR") which is the best result of "shutdown politics."

Democrats intend that very result. And if the Democrats win either or both Houses back from the Republicans in the fall, they will go much farther than a long string of CRs. They will savage defense spending in favor of their socialist pipe dreams.

This isn’t a secret and it’s not doom-casting. Believe what Democrats tell you. The party has launched off the left cliff in American politics, heading to places no American party has ever proposed to go before much less actually travelled towards.

The left is now opposed to American power and stature in the world. It would strip us of our defenses. Even the handful of crazed leftists nominated for the House by Democrats in New Jersey and New York in recent weeks would combine with the existing fringe — the "Squad" — to eviscerate American military strength. Even five radical House members will be enough to control defense spending in a closely divided House and only one or two senators can do so in an even or one-vote majority Senate. The Congress ahead is very likely to be the most radical in America’s 250 years.

Which is why Collins and Wicker, along with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), Senate Budget Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Senate Intelligence Chairman Tom Cotton (R-AR) must make the anti-institutionalist choice to fund the Pentagon via the "budget reconciliation process," a complicated and controversial means to the end of tackling major tax and spending bills like the Working Families Tax Cut of 2025 and various COVID relief bills of both Republican and Democratic presidents. (Collins and then Senator Marco Rubio led the crafting of the Paycheck Protection Program which was the critical part of the economy-saving CARES Act of March 2020.)

Because Democrats are going hold the federal government hostage in the fall as a giant campaign stunt, it falls to the serious and sober-minded Republican senators to advance national security spending through reconciliation. The harder question is whether to do so for two or three years instead of just one. That’s a difficult choice to make because it would recognize the yawning chasm between the mainstream American consensus about the country’s defenses and the hard left’s "defund defense" corollary to its "defund the police" and "defund ICE" platform planks.

Using reconciliation to forward fund up to 5 trillion dollars is nobody’s ideal. But it is a necessity to provide time for our troops until the Democrats’ collective fever breaks.

Socialists take fight west, target Colorado in latest bid to oust Democratic Party establishment

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is setting its sights on Colorado.

A handful of Tuesday's primaries in the Democrat-dominated Rocky Mountain state are the next battleground in the fight between the far left and the center-left establishment over the future of the Democratic Party.

"Today, the East Coast, next week the Mountain West," the DSA wrote in a social media post last week, hours after their ballot-box victories in a handful of congressional primaries in New York City.

The post came after DSA-aligned Darializa Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old far-left community organizer, ousted incumbent Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and state Assembly Member Claire Valdez, another democratic socialist, won a congressional primary by defeating an establishment-backed candidate.

VICTORIES BY MAMDANI-BACKED CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES SPOTLIGHTS GROWING RIFT IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The victories by Chevalier and Valdez, who were heavily supported by democratic socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, further emboldened the far left as it takes on the center-left establishment in a high-stakes battle for the future of the Democratic Party.

The DSA is now looking to replicate its playbook across the country, starting Tuesday in the Democratic primary in Colorado's 1st Congressional District, a solidly blue seat anchored in Denver that then-Vice President Kamala Harris carried by a whopping 56 points in the 2024 election.

Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette, who was first elected to Congress three decades ago, is facing two primary challengers, including DSA-backed Melat Kiros, a first-time candidate and former attorney born four months after DeGette first took office.

Kiros, who lost her job as a lawyer in New York after writing an essay critical of Israel, is also supported by Justice Democrats, the nearly decade-old political group known for heavily supporting "Squad" members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib as they toppled entrenched incumbents in their initial elections to Congress.

"ELECT ANOTHER SOCIALIST TO CONGRESS ON JUNE 30TH," a DSA social media post states as it urges supporters to lend a hand to the Kiros campaign.

The Democratic Party divide will also play out in the primary in the neighboring 8th Congressional District, which stretches along the I-25 corridor north of Denver.

State Rep. Manny Rutinel is running to the left of former state Rep. Shannon Bird, with the winner taking on Republican Rep. Gabe Evans, who flipped the seat in the 2024 cycle. The race is considered one of two or three dozen that will determine if the GOP holds onto its razor-thin House majority in the midterms.

Immigration has been a top issue in the Democratic primary in a district where roughly 40% of the population is Latino. Rutinel has criticized Bird for a vote she cast last year opposing a measure limiting cooperation between local and state law enforcement and ICE.

MAMDANI-BACKED SOCIALISTS LOOK TO TAKE NEW YORK PLAYBOOK NATIONWIDE AFTER PRIMARY VICTORIES

Another primary showdown highlighting the split between progressives and moderates, as well as the party's generational divide, is the Senate nomination battle between incumbent Sen. John Hickenlooper, 74, and former state Sen. Julie Gonzales, a 43-year-old progressive. Hickenlooper, a former Denver mayor and two-term governor, has seen his once-large advantage over Gonzales, a one-time DSA member, narrow.

The winner will face Republican state Sen. Mark Baisley, who is unopposed in his primary.

Shannon Jackson, a longtime progressive political strategist and grassroots organizer best known for his leadership roles in Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, pointed to last week's results and told Fox News Digital that "people are frustrated."

"The key message of the victors: Medicare-for-All, the importance of affordability and a living wage. Progressives have long fought for these values and I expect the primary victories to continue," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the state's expensive and combustible Democratic gubernatorial primary pits Sen. Michael Bennet against state Attorney General Phil Weiser.

Bennet or Weiser will be considered the clear favorite in the race to succeed two-term Democratic Gov. Jared Polis, the first openly gay man elected governor in the nation's history.

Weiser, who is running to Bennet's left on certain issues, closed the gap with the senator as he spotlighted his efforts to take on President Donald Trump, including suing Trump 66 times as attorney general.

The winner will face either state Rep. Scott Bottoms, state Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer or pastor and Marine Corps veteran Victor Marx as the Republican nominee.

July 4th is more than marking America’s independence with patriotic flags, parades and fireworks. It's about celebrating American ingenuity, our firm belief that our country can engineer solutions to achieve the impossible, from launching the modern age of aviation to landing a man on the moon.

Some of the most compelling evidence of American exceptionalism today is happening thousands of feet beneath the surface of the Gulf of America, where our offshore industry has spent more than a decade solving one of the hardest engineering problems in the history of energy.

More than 100 miles offshore from the Gulf Coast sits a geological layer of sandstone and shale rock deep beneath the seabed called the Paleogene that holds tens of billions of barrels of oil. For years, most of it was considered unattainable. The reservoir pressures – up to 20,000 pounds per square inch, equivalent to an elephant standing on a quarter – exceeded anything existing technology could handle. No equipment had ever been built to work under those conditions.

The solution was engineered here, in American waters, by the people who know them best.

Trendsetter Engineering designed subsea systems and manifolds capable of operating reliably at pressures once considered beyond reach. Other offshore companies have developed similar equipment that has unlocked the Paleogene.

The results speak for themselves. Chevron's Anchor project came online in 2024, representing roughly $5.7 billion in development spending. Beacon Offshore's Shenandoah is also producing oil and natural gas. BP's development plan for its $5 billion Kaskida project has secured federal approval and is moving toward first production. Together, these projects mark the opening of a new chapter of American offshore capability.

Safety and containment systems were purpose-built, independently verified, and rigorously tested under federal oversight before a single well was drilled. Offshore consortiums HWCG and Marine Well Containment Co. (MWCC) both maintain 20,000 psi containment systems that can be deployed rapidly in the event of an incident.

CONGRESS MUST NOT DERAIL THE FREIGHT RAIL LIFELINE FOR AMERICA’S FARMERS

Federal regulations require operators to demonstrate access to containment resources, submit detailed response plans, and conduct robust recurring training exercises before drilling begins. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement requires third-party certification on every major high-pressure component: blowout preventers, subsea trees, wellheads and completion equipment. Nothing goes offshore without it.

This achievement that’s producing more American energy is worth celebrating today, especially during a time when we take stock of what this country is built on. The Paleogene wasn't unlocked by a single mandate or a government program. It was unlocked by an ecosystem of companies, engineers, regulators, suppliers and workers who collectively decided a problem was worth solving and spent years doing it. That's a distinctly American model, and it works.

The Gulf of America supplies roughly 15% of U.S. oil production. Offshore projects support shipyards, manufacturers, ports, marine operators and skilled trades across the country. There are jobs and investments in all 50 states.

A California dog rescue hid a grim secret: more than 100 dogs buried beneath it

Remains of more than 100 dogs were discovered buried at a California animal rescue sanctuary, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with local, state and federal authorities, began investigating Miranda’s Rescue Animal Sanctuary in Fortuna after receiving a tip in April about alleged animal abuse, animal cruelty, fraud and conspiracy, according to deputies.

Last week, the sheriff's office announced that 117 intact dog remains were recovered from two dig sites. An additional 21 canine skulls, hundreds of bones and six loose microchips were found in another dig location near the area where the intact animals were discovered. Authorities later said they were continuing to review microchip data and other evidence from the scene.

The intact dogs were in various stages of decomposition, the sheriff's office said, adding that 70 dogs were X-rayed on site and many showed evidence of bullet fragments. Forensic veterinarians preliminarily determined that many of the dogs examined on site had died of gunshot wounds.

"Most of the dogs recovered were microchipped. Analysts are currently reviewing the data obtained from the microchips and are working to identify the dogs associated with those chips. All items were collected as evidence and will undergo further examination as part of the ongoing investigation," the sheriff's office said.

Authorities also discovered an area inside a barn believed to be where the dogs were likely killed. In that area, more than 600 dog collars were recovered.

Investigators identified at least 918 dogs transferred to the rescue since January 2025, but only 116 adoptions have been confirmed. Authorities said 71 dogs were found on site during the investigation, leaving more than 700 dogs unaccounted for.

"This investigation is just getting started," Sheriff William Honsal said. "There is a tremendous amount of data to process, witnesses to interview, and evidence to examine. Fox News Digital reached out to Miranda’s Rescue Animal Sanctuary for comment.

The owner and founder, Shannon Miranda, posted a statement on the rescue's website pushing back on the allegations.

"For more than 30 years, I have devoted my life to rescuing and caring for animals through Miranda’s Rescue. Recent media coverage and online commentary have presented an incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate picture of our work. I want to share the facts and provide context so the public can better understand our work and the difficult decisions we sometimes must make," the June 18 statement reads.

"In one case, a dog named Zora arrived heavily sedated, later killed a feral cat during a walk with a prospective adopter, then broke free and attacked another dog," Miranda said. "In another case, a dog transferred to us became fixated on a stroller carrying a baby, lunged at it, and attacked it before staff intervened. In both situations, given the observed behavior and the risks to staff, volunteers, visitors, and other animals, I made the difficult decision to euthanize the dogs."

Authorities have not arrested or charged anyone yet in connection with this case, but the sheriff's office said the evidence review process will require a significant amount of time due to the nature and complexity of the investigation.

Under the proposed rules, the government says repayments would be means-tested and limited to adults above an income threshold. Officials say safeguards would be included to prevent people from being pushed into extreme poverty, though key details of the threshold and enforcement mechanism have not yet been published.

In the dugout, Contreras broke down as teammates and coaches embraced him.

PBS CEO recounts dramatic year for organzation, calls legal battle with Trump 'the most sobering moment'

ASPEN, COLORADO — PBS CEO Paula Kerger recounted the "extraordinary" year her organization has had after President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans revoked its federal funding.

Appearing Sunday at the Aspen Institute's Ideas Festival, Kerger was asked to summarize the dramatic saga PBS underwent, which she referred to as a "year of letters," the first in January 2025 from Federal Communications Committee (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr, who was probing PBS' corporate partnerships, followed by a letter that March from then-Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who summoned her and NPR CEO Katherine Maher to testify before the DOGE Committee's hearing, which she noted was titled "Anti-American Airwaves."

"I repeat this all the time because of all the things in the last year, that was the most offensive," Kerger told the Aspen audience.

She then noted the letter she received from Trump on his executive order withholding federal funding from PBS and NPR.

"Our stations were counting on that money. Eighty percent of the money that comes from the federal government actually doesn't go to me or to NPR, it goes to the stations. That's where that money goes," Kerger said, before citing "50%" of the budget at PBS-affiliated station like in Cookeville, Tennessee came from federal funding.

"We've laid off 100 people. I mean, we've had very deep cuts," she later revealed.

Kerger said she turned to famed documentarian Ken Burns to help sway votes in the Senate after a bill to defund public media passed in the GOP-controlled House of Representatives.

"I am very hesitant to ask someone like him to wade in on something like this because we try to protect our creative talent, but I was desperate at the end and I knew we were really, really close," Kerger said of Burns, who was sitting beside her at the Ideas Festival. "He made calls and we had the votes, and then there was a pause for about an hour and a half and my colleague Jeremy... he and I are talking and he said, 'I think we've got it. I think he pulled it out.' And then we didn't. And we lost by one vote."

Despite the turmoil she revisited, Kerger then shared the "good part of the story," which was the creating of a "runway" for stations who heavily relied on federal money with a fundraising effort dubbed the Bridge Fund, hoping it will provide them at least two years of funding. She also boasted the addition of "a million new members of Public Broadcasting Stations" since funding was pulled last July, adding that the majority of them contribute every month.

"This has not solved our problem, So I can say proudly we're still here... but it's up to all of us to make sure if this is something worth preserving that we're leaned in together," Berger added.

A CBS News Chicago reporter and photographer were attacked Monday afternoon near the Adler Planetarium while preparing for a live report, according to the station and Chicago police.

The incident happened around 4:25 p.m. in the 900 block of East Solidarity Drive, near Adler Planetarium, Chicago Police told Fox News Digital.

Multiple men arrived in a truck before they allegedly exited the vehicle and rushed at the victims as they shouted racial slurs at one of the journalists, according to police.

The men ordered a dog to attack the pair of journalists. But when the dog did not attack, the suspects began damaging their equipment, police said.

The two journalists escaped from the incident unharmed.

"When the dog did not attack, the male offender became irate and damaged the victim's property by throwing it on the ground. All the offenders re-entered the white truck and fled the scene in an unknown direction. There are no injuries reported."

Police then arrested multiple people in Brighton Park following a police chase, the outlet reported, adding that the incident involved a gun being pointed at another person.

Helicopter reports drone encounter near JFK hours after JetBlue's possible drone strike

A helicopter reported a possible drone encounter near John F. Kennedy International Airport Monday afternoon, marking the second such incident at the airport in a single day.

"A helicopter pilot flying near John F. Kennedy International Airport reported a remote-control airplane flew close to their aircraft," the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.

The sighting came just hours after a separate incident in which a JetBlue pilot reported a possible drone strike while the plane was approaching JFK for landing.

JFK air traffic control issued a warning to nearby pilots of an unauthorized unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operating in protected airspace, according to ATIS.guru, which collects live digital messages from airports around the world.

According to the warning, a "red and white" remote-controlled airplane was spotted flying at roughly 4:05 p.m. local time.

It was observed at an altitude of 500 feet, placing it within the typical flight path of low-flying commercial aircraft approaching the airport, according to the ATIS warning.

The sighting was also reported about 1 mile from the Canarsie (CRI) navigation beacon, a key waypoint used by aircraft lining up to land at JFK.

It is unclear whether the two cases are related.

Colorado Democratic Socialist candidate Melat Kiros recently argued how the 9/11 and 10/7 terror attacks were "inevitable" after U.S. and Israeli military actions in the Middle East.

In an interview with Colorado’s Next 9News on June 22, Kiros was asked about comments she made while appearing on far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker's show where she labeled the Hamas terror attack against Israel as "an inevitable consequence of apartheid, of occupation, decades of occupation."

Kiros pushed back on the idea that Israel "had it coming" but insisted that, from the context of the video, it was important to understand the "conditions" that led to the terror attack.

Fans from around the world wouldn't want to visit the United States under President Donald Trump, they said. The stadiums in the US supposedly lacked the atmosphere of European venues, they argued. And logistics would be a nightmare, somehow, also because of Trump. Or something.

Fast forward to the late-June, the group stage has been completed, and the tournament has been widely acknowledged as an unmitigated success.

Fanbases from around the world, like Scotland and Norway, have taken over baseball games. Fans from The Netherlands have paraded down city streets. One German fan became an internet sensation after traveling around the South, enjoying American small town hospitality. He wound up being invited backstage to meet Ella Langley at a recent concert. England fans met with President Trump.

Turns out, fans still came to visit the US after all.

In fact, through just the group stage games, FIFA recently announced that the 2026 World Cup has already obliterated the previous attendance record. More than 4.6 million fans have gone to a game in the US, Mexico and Canada, exceeding the previous record of 3.5 million. Which was also set when the US hosted in 1994.

By any measure, this year's tournament has been a tremendous success. And Democrats are extremely unhappy about it.

Incredible. Democrats are so broken by politics they actually specifically hoped that the tournament would be a failure in order to criticize Donald Trump. Now that it hasn't been, they're devastated.

Rep. Brendan Boyle, a Democrat from Philadelphia, admitted the tournament had been a "remarkable success," and a "great moment. He also told Politico, "I’m excited about the U.S. hosting the World Cup, how well that it has gone, how receptive these foreign fan bases have been to finding out more about the United States and interacting with ordinary Americans."

But even admitting that, he couldn't bring himself to acknowledge the Trump administration had helped ensure this outcome.

Sure. Which is why venue after venue has been full of fans from around the world and social media is overrun with Europeans, fans from Japan, and South America talking about how much they've enjoyed visiting the country and meeting the people.

'Parcel bomb' explodes in Monaco residential area, leaving 2 critically injured: reports

Police in Monaco and France were reportedly searching Monday night for a man suspected of detonating a makeshift explosive device that injured several people, including two critically.

The explosion happened shortly before 9 p.m. local time in the center of Monaco, near the entrance of a residential building. Surveillance video appeared to show a man leaving a backpack at the scene moments before the blast, Reuters reported, citing French newspaper Le Figaro.

Christophe Mirmand, Monaco’s minister of state, told BFM TV that two of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

San Francisco archdiocese agrees to $395M settlement with 530 clergy abuse survivors

The Archdiocese of San Francisco has agreed to pay $395 million to settle more than 500 lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse by clergy and church officials, marking one of the largest abuse settlements in California and potentially ending a years-long bankruptcy battle.

The proposed settlement covers approximately 530 survivors and requires Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone to personally write an apology letter to each survivor.

It also mandates sweeping child protection and transparency reforms, including the publication of a list of clergy accused of abuse and a ban on confidentiality agreements that silence survivors. The settlement remains subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

"We believe this proposal provides a path toward fair compensation for survivors who have borne the weight of this abuse for a lifetime," Cordileone said in a prepared statement. "The entire Catholic family is called to unite and share in the work of making amends through this proposed settlement."

Cordileone said the archdiocese accepts responsibility for the abuse allegations, many of which date back decades, while pledging to continue supporting survivors and preventing future abuse.

"While the vast majority of sexual abuse allegations associated with this bankruptcy were from many decades ago, we accept full responsibility for what happened, and I sincerely apologize to all those who have been harmed," he said. "We remain committed to the healing and care of survivors who have suffered because of past sins of Church ministers."

The agreement is the latest in a wave of costly settlements involving California's Catholic dioceses after a 2019 state law temporarily revived decades-old child sexual abuse claims.

In 2024, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles agreed to an $880 million settlement with abuse survivors, while several other California dioceses filed for bankruptcy after facing hundreds of lawsuits.

The settlement marks another defining moment for Cordileone, one of the nation's most prominent Catholic leaders, who has frequently spoken about challenges facing the church.

In a 2023 interview with Fox News Digital, Cordileone warned that Catholics were facing increasing hostility in American society.

"We have to realize that we're being explicitly attacked," Cordileone said at the time. "Our properties are being attacked, our sacred symbols are being desecrated. We're being explicitly insulted, and that's been championed and celebrated in the culture."

Cordileone also cautioned Catholics against becoming overly confrontational despite those challenges.

"I think we can't be overly bombastic either," he told Fox News Digital. "Where do you have to draw a line and take a strong stand? Because that can't be overdone either — because after a while, one will lose credibility."

Plaintiffs' attorney Jeff Anderson called the settlement unprecedented, saying it not only provides financial compensation but also forces lasting institutional reforms.

Besides the $395 million payment, the archdiocese must maintain and publicly update a comprehensive list of clergy accused of abuse, disclose the outcomes of investigations and can no longer require survivors to sign confidentiality agreements.

"I've been working with survivors for decades, and I've never heard of anything quite as significant, as rigorous, as robust as what is being required of the Archdiocese of San Francisco," Anderson said.

Major deliveries were seen being made at Madison Square Garden — just days before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are rumored to tie the knot at the famous venue.

In a photo obtained by Fox News Digital, a large truck was seen backing into the delivery section of the arena, unloading lighting equipment on Monday.

TMZ reported on Monday that Kelce and Swift took drastic measures to keep the details of their wedding from the public. The outlet shared that the couple's wedding invitations were all individually watermarked with the guests' initials, so if an image of the invite surfaced online, they would know who leaked it.

An anonymous source told the outlet that invitations were first sent out in the spring, around April. The source also said that the invitation doesn't share a location for the wedding and there is no mention of Madison Square Garden on it.

"It simply lists New York City as the location and July 3 as the date," according to TMZ.

The mystery surrounding Swift and Kelce's wedding timeline only deepened last week after The New York Times reported that a permit application was filed to close the streets outside Madison Square Garden from July 2 until July 4.

The outlet also reported that Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates had made hotel accommodations at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square around July 3. Winick Productions also allegedly filed a permit with New York City's Street Activity Permit Office to set up a tent or canopy outside MSG. The prominent event planning company has produced large-scale red carpet events, according to The New York Times.

A city official confirmed to the outlet that Madison Square Garden is prepared to host wedding festivities on July 3. Amtrak Police officers have also been informed of the expected Swift-Kelce wedding during the weekend of July 4, the NYT reported.

Perhaps the biggest clue of all: an entertainment industry executive confirmed to the outlet that a multi-day event was set to take over Madison Square Garden, which was rented by Swift, beginning July 2. The festivities would reportedly kick off with an intimate gathering of about 100 people before a much larger celebration for roughly 1,000 guests on July 3.

The July 3 celebration may include stage performances, according to the outlet's sources.

Swift and Kelce first sparked dating rumors in 2023 after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he had unsuccessfully tried to give the pop superstar a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. After two years of dating, the couple announced their engagement in August 2025.

Paraguay stuns four-time World Cup champions Germany in penalty shootout after controversial call

Paraguay stunned Germany, the four-time FIFA World Cup champions, after moving on to the round of 16 after winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout on Monday in an absolutely thrilling match with a key controversial moment sprinkled in.

That moment came in extra time, which was needed after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes plus stoppage time between these two opponents.

Germany had dominated throughout this match, but Paraguay had made the best of their grade-A chance in the first half when Julio Enciso buried a header in the 42nd minute. The Germans were able to finally get on the board, though, in the 54th minute when Kai Havertz saw his own header flick into the back of the net.

From there, Germany was on the offensive, getting chance after chance with some from Paraguay tossed in. But when extra time began, it seemed only a matter of time before Germany would pot another and take the lead.

It appeared to happen when Jonathan Tah rose up and smashed a header on a corner kick past Paraguay keeper Orlando Gill. The German faithful inside Boston Stadium went ballistic, but that was short-lived after the head official went to the VAR screen to review a potential foul.

During the corner kick, Germany’s Waldemar Anton seemed to obstruct Gill’s movement toward the ball, and ultimately to defend Tah’s header. And if he was simply trying to sell the foul, it worked.

After review, the goal was annulled with the referee explaining that Anton’s actions had prevented Gill from properly getting the chance to stop the header.

After the 30 minutes of extra time, neither side was able to break the 1-1 tie. As a result, the tournament’s first penalty shootout was set to determine who would move on to the round of 16, and who would be heading home.

Things did not start off on the right foot for Germany when Havertz stepped up to the ball and saw Gill make a save. Maurício used that momentum and scored his first to immediately put Paraguay in a good position to win.

Both sides would ace their next two penalties apiece before Nick Woltemade’s attempt was saved by Gill. Paraguay, now, had a chance to win it all, but Antonio Sanabria missed the team’s fourth penalty.

Nadiem Amiri kept Germany’s hopes alive with a made shot on the team’s fifth attempt, but being that penalties are determined by five shots, Fabián Balbuena had the opportunity to win it all. However, Manuel Neuer, one of the most decorated goalkeepers in soccer history, let alone Germany’s squad, kept up clutch with a save to force another round.

With slight momentum on their side, Tah stepped up to the penalty area with the chance to get another game-winning goal, this time with his boot. But his attempt was a miserable one, belting it over the crossbar and into the stands.

Paraguay, elated after the miss, sent José Canale to the box and he didn’t disappoint. Neuer guessed the wrong way and Canale tucked his shot under the bar and Paraguay celebrated as you’d expect: pure joy.

It's the first time ever Germany has lost in penalties at the FIFA World Cup.

Germany was left shocked on the pitch, as their 2026 World Cup journey comes to a close. And it’s hard not to think what-if when they appeared to have the game-winner on the scoreboard only for it to be taken away by a call that will certainly be debated for some time.

Meanwhile, Paraguay will now await the winner of the round of 32 match between France and Sweden, which will be played at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday at New York/New Jersey Stadium.

Oba Femi entered Atlantic City, New Jersey, to a king’s reception.

He did win the King of the Ring Tournament at Night of Champions after all and appeared set to choose his opponent for SummerSlam – Roman Reigns or Sami Zayn. Instead, Brock Lesnar interrupted Femi to a huge ovation.

Lesnar spoke to Femi, calling "The Ruler" out for all the trash talk he’s done while Lesnar had been away from the show. But Lesnar wanted to teach Femi a lesson.

"Talk s---, get hit," Lesnar said before kicking Femi in the groin and delivering an F5 to the big man.

But it wasn’t enough to keep Femi down. He got back up and challenged Lesnar to a match at SummerSlam at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Lesnar accepted but went a step further. He said the match will take place in a Hell in a Cell. The crowd went crazy and it was later made official.

Raw general manager Adam Pearce made sure that Femi was OK with possibly putting off his title shot for the time being.

"The title is always going to be there. The championships are not going anywhere," Femi assured Pearce. "I’ll take that when I want it. … It needs to happen. This needs to end and I will be the one to put an end to it."

Femi and Lesnar have been at each other’s throats since before WrestleMania 42. Lesnar answered Femi’s open challenge, sparking a match at WrestleMania 42. Femi defeated Lesnar and led to Lesnar, at least for a moment, deciding to retire from pro wrestling.

Talk show host Bill Maher praised President Donald Trump on Monday’s episode of "Club Random," saying he finds joy in seeing him confront journalists in ways he would not.

Maher has a long, chequered history with Trump, something he joked about when he attended a dinner at the White House and brought a list of insults the president has directed at him over the years. But while Maher is not shy about criticizing the president, he specifically praised him for his unique penchant for directly clashing with journalists, saying that contentious feeling toward the press is something he can relate to.

"And it's funny, you know, you want to say it back to the media and I won't about, anything, because you just don't want to pick that fight with them," Maher said as he spoke to his guest, actor Kevin Spacey. "But sometimes when I see Trump just speak his complete internal monologue without, doing things that, it's just like – he will say something, and the one I'm thinking of is like, I've wanted to say that."

Morgan Wallen put his Christian faith on display during a recent concert, taking the stage with a Bible verse written across a cast on his leg.

In videos and photos shared on social media, the 33-year-old country star wore a black cast featuring the Scripture reference "Joshua 2:21" in white writing during his show at Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina on Saturday.

Joshua 2:21 (KJV) reads, "And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet cord in the window."

The verse is part of the Old Testament story of Rahab, a woman who hid two Israelite spies before the fall of Jericho. After the spies promised to spare her family, Rahab immediately tied a scarlet cord in her window as a sign of their covenant.

One of the Mets' premier acquisitions this past offseason, infielder Bo Bichette has quickly become part of the Amazins' terrible year.

Last season, Bichette helped carry Toronto to the World Series. Now, he's stuck at the bottom of the NL East, dealing with a dysfunctional front office that recently fired manager Carlos Mendoza.

Back in Toronto as the road-weary Mets opened a three-game series against his former team Monday, Bichette was asked what returning to Rogers Centre meant to him.

And the waterworks began.

Speaking to reporters, Bichette said he gave Toronto "everything he had."

The Blue Jays beat the Mets, 2-1.

The Mets' season has spiraled despite the additions of Bichette and Juan Soto, while former cornerstones Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo are gone.

With Mendoza out, frustrated Mets fans have increasingly turned their attention to President of Baseball Operations David Stearns, whose offseason overhaul has produced more questions than wins.

Things were supposed to work out in Queens. Bichette's acquisition was seen as the Mets' response after watching the Dodgers take another bite out of free agency by signing Kyle Tucker ... though Tucker hasn't quite panned out at Chavez, either.

Bichette was a two-time All-Star in Toronto.

During the Blue Jays' World Series run, Bichette batted .348 with a .444 on-base percentage despite battling a late-season knee injury. His Game 7 three-run blast off Shohei Ohtani put Toronto on the brink of a World Series win, but the Dodgers broke the Blue Jays' hearts in extra innings.

Bichette subsequently agreed to a three-year, $126 million contract with the Mets. He pushed his chips onto Queens, but the baseball gods landed on black. (We've all been there, Bo.)

Daveigh Chase's official cause of death was released Monday, two weeks after the child star died. She was 35.

Chase's primary cause of death was from acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's office.

Chronic polysubstance use was listed as a significant condition that contributed to her death.

Chronic polysubstance use is defined as the repeated, long-term consumption of two or more substances (such as illicit drugs, prescription medications, or alcohol) simultaneously or within a short period, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Her manner of death was ruled as natural, and while she died in a hospital, her body was not brought in to the coroner's office.

Chase's father, John Schwallier, previously told NBC News via text that his daughter "died of complications of bacterial meningitis and a blood infection."

Her former manager, John Ryan Jr., disputed claims made in a recent crowdfunding campaign published before reports of Chase's death began circulating.

"Daveigh’s estate has plenty of means to pay for the cremation," Ryan said in a statement to Deadline. "John is next of kin and never signed any paperwork over to this so-called boyfriend."

TMZ was first to report Chase's death through her alleged boyfriend, Roy Hernandez.

Air traffic audio captures JetBlue pilot alerting controllers: 'We collided with a drone'

An air traffic audio recording has captured a JetBlue pilot reporting a possible drone strike Monday morning as the aircraft was preparing to land.

The incident occurred as Flight 948 was approaching John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) after departing Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

"We collided with a drone back there in the turn," the pilot said in a recording posted by LiveATC.

"You said you collided?" the controller asked.

"Yep, it is right above the cockpit," he responded.

The reported encounter occurred as the aircraft was beginning its final approach sequence, about 10 to 12 miles out from JFK at roughly 3,000 feet.

The pilot said the incident specifically happened near the ASALT waypoint, a navigational checkpoint where aircraft typically line up to land.

"It was as we were making the turn to ASALT, so about 10 miles to 12 miles outside of ASALT. We were coming over that part of land in New Jersey," the pilot said.

"We don't need any assistance, we're just going to go ahead and land," the pilot said.

At the end of the exchange, the controller acknowledged the message, responding, "Roger, thank you."

"Sorry, I couldn't give you any more details than that," the pilot added.

According to JetBlue, the flight landed without incident and passengers deplaned normally.

A post-flight inspection also did not reveal any damage to the aircraft, officials said.

"Safety is JetBlue's first priority, and we will assist with any relevant investigations," the airline said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
