Before leaving Germany today, President Obama stopped at Ramstein Air Base and visited Landstuhl Medical Center. During the approximately hour and half visit, Mr. Obama met with 22 wounded warriors who were currently in treatment. He met with medical staff at the hospital and discussed "issues and challenges", according to aides. He also stopped by a USO Care Center for troops receiving outpatient care. The entire visit was closed press -- as are all presidential visits to wounded warriors -- but we're told that in addition to the visits, the President awarded a total of 6 purple hearts.A senior administration said today was a "very sobering" day for the President having started the day in remembrance at Buchenwald Concentration Camp and then finishing by taking the opportunity "to thank people who make a sacrifice" for their country.
