The Republican and Democratic national spokesmen squared off Thursday on "America Live w/Megyn Kelly," arguing what they thought to be the best remedies for an ailing U.S. economy.
Democratic National Committee Communication Director Brad Woodhouse defended the president's budget plan and argued that Obama has done more to reduce the deficit than any president since Bill Clinton. Doug Heye, the Republican National Committee's communication director pointed towards growing Democratic support for extending the tax cuts first implemented by George W. Bush.
The two spokesmen picked up the gauntlet thrown by the president in his major economic speech in Cleveland, Ohio Wednesday. President Obama blasted Republicans and claimed the country could ill afford to extend tax cuts to the wealthiest of Americans. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) countered that Congress and the administration first needed to focus on cutting the government's out-of-control spending.
