CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Campaigning in the crucial battleground state of Virginia Thursday, GOP vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan unveiled a new twist to his closing argument.
The Wisconsin congressman implored the crowd here to not only fight up to Election Day, but also imagine the day after.
"Let’s also think about November the 7th," Ryan said. "Lets think about when we wake up and we turn on the TV. Let’s think about what we’re going to see."
"Just as this election is a mandate for us, President Obama will claim one for him," Ryan continued. "That means since he’s proposing nothing different, we will get nothing different. So the question is, do we want to wake up on November the 7th and see that we have just four more years of the same? Do we want to wake up and think we’re going to have to wait four more years? Or do we just want to wait two more weeks?"
It's still anyone's guess who will end up in the White House after Nov. 6.
A Fox News poll released Thursday night shows Mitt Romney narrowly leading Obama in Virginia by just two percentage points -- 47 percent to 45 percent.
Romney’s edge is within the margin of error, but it shows a 9-point shift from a month ago, when Obama topped Romney by 7 points in this battleground state.
Voters here don't have much more time to make up their mind, and neither side is taking anything for granted.
"The choice is yours. So let’s wake up on November the 7th and know we gave it everything," Ryan said. "We are asking you for your vote. We are asking you for your help. We are in this together, and together, we can get this done."
