House and Senate Republicans want details on an illegal immigrant accused of a brutal rape outside Washington, D.C.
House and Senate Judiciary Chairmen Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, want to know how the accused rapist entered the United States and whether he had a criminal history that did not lead to his deportation sooner.
In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Goodlatte and Grassley seek details about Roberto Carlos Flores Sibrian, 26, who is charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery. Flores Sibrian is accused of dragging a woman out of her car near Fredericksburg, Va., on Halloween and raping her for two hours.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued an immigration detainer for Flores Sibrian, who was arrested on Nov. 17 and is being held on a $107,000 bond.
