Google surprised the world Monday when it announced the launch date of its drone delivery program, Project Wing.
"Our goal is to have commercial business up and running in 2017," Project Lead David Vos told an air traffic control convention audience, according to the BBC.
Although customers now have a better idea of when to expect deliveries from the unmanned aircraft, Google has not shared any information about the type of drones it will employ for the service or what types of packages will be eligible for delivery by drone.
The last major details on the plan broke in 2014. Since then, Google has confirmed Project Wing is being overseen by Alphabet, the parent company that the former divisions of Google operate under.
