Congressional Calendar June 8, 2010

Don’t look now, but health care reform is front and center again on Capitol Hill. Shortly after President Obama participates in a health care tele-town hall at 11:40 a.m. ET, Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Tex., and the Congressional Health Care Caucus, along with Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind., hold a forum to discuss the cost of the recently passed legislation.

The Senate Judiciary Committee meets at 10:00 a.m. ET to hear testimony from legal experts on the liability caps and judicial precedent that govern the damage settlements surrounding the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Also slated to testify is Christopher Jones, who lost his brother, Gordon, in the explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon.

In other environmental news, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, will introduce a resolution to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency’s “endangerment” finding for carbon dioxide. That finding paves the way for the agency to regulate CO2 and other greenhouse gasses under the Clean Air Act.

The Senate Majority and Minority Leaders, Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., hold their weekly agenda-setting press conferences. McConnell goes first, and Reid finishes.
