Wooing Latino voters also comes with backlash from some for the GOP.
The Hispanic Leadership Network, a conservative Republican group working to woo Hispanic voters, opens a two-day conference in Albuquerque Friday.
New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are among the speakers at the conference, which will hold panels on issues ranging from the Hispanic influence in the upcoming elections to foreclosures, jobs and education.
Organizers say the intent is to engage the country's growing minority voting block as the group builds a "center-right" agenda.
New Mexico Democrats, however, on Thursday held a conference call to blast the Republicans as hypocrites in their effort to lure Hispanic voters, saying their actions on issues important to Latinos speak louder than their rhetoric.
Several Hispanic groups are also organizing a rally against the Republican conference in Civic Center Friday evening.
