Hillary Clinton's campaign, or someone purporting to speak for it, has no sense of humor. That's the conclusion I draw from this release by Judicial Watch, brought to my attention by the indefatigable bloggers of Power Line. It seems that people purporting to speak for Hillary Clinton's campaign have demanded that a five-minute video produced by the comedy club Laugh Factory be suppressed. Club owner Jamie Masada tells the story.
"Masada told Judicial Watch that, as soon as the video got posted on the Laugh Factory website, he received a phone call from a 'prominent' person inside Clinton's campaign. 'He said the video was disgusting and asked who put me up to this,' Masada said. The Clinton staffer, who Masada did not want to identify, also demanded to know the names and phone numbers of the comedians that appear in the video. Masada refused and hung up."
Some unanswered questions occur. Who was the "Clinton staffer"? Why shouldn't Masada released the person's name? Why would that person want names and addresses — to get the Internal Revenue Service to audit them? Where did someone claiming to act on Hillary Clinton's behalf get the idea that it's all right to suppress ridicule of the candidate? Do Clinton staffers have any sense of humor?
