A man stabbed five people Wednesday morning at the University of California, Merced.
The assailant attacked four students and one other person on campus shortly before 8 a.m. PST, according to a police spokesperson.
Two people were airlifted to nearby hospitals in the San Joaquin region while the three other individuals were treated on campus, according to a statement made by the university. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were no fatalities.
Police confirmed to the Associated Press that the suspect was shot and killed during the incident, but they have not released additional information about the man.
