PICS: Kara Del Toro Nails the Lingerie-as-Outerwear Look for Movie Night

Jessica Alba wasn’t the only one to make heads turn during a night out at the movies. PICS: Jessica Alba Flaunts Famous Curves for Premiere of 'Mechanic: Resurrection' Kara Del Toro was one of many celebs to attend the recent Hollywood premiere of “Mechanic: Resurrection,” but it was her choice of eveningwear that had all eyes on her. Since we are talking about a GUESS Girl and Carl’s Jr. bombshell here (see below for our exclusive interview), Del Toro arrived wearing a blush-hued satin robe-inspired mini dress, highlighting a daring low-cut V-neck. The model completed the look with a ‘90s-esque gold choker and strappy nude heels. And there is a reason why this outfit seems familiar. Singer Rihanna also slayed the red carpet back in 2014 with an equally seductive bathrobe-style gown with a matching bodysuit, revealing sculpted stems for days. It's safe to say this is one fashion trend that will continue to be worn by the stars, especially now more than ever. “As we all know the ‘90s are back with a vengeance right now and with that comes the idea of wearing lingerie and lingerie-inspired pieces outside of the bedroom,” explains Cris Pearlstein, stylist and founder of HowDoYouFashion.com. “I’m loving this trend because designers are really stepping up their game in this arena and creating lacy pieces, camisoles, and slip dresses that are just too pretty to only wear in private.” READ: 5 Ways to Ace the Lingerie Dressing Trend Want to rock the lingerie-as-outerwear look, but aren’t feeling quite as daring as Del Toro? Pearlstein believes there are a variety of ways to wear and own this style. “My advice to pull this off in real life would be to pair the bedroom-inspired piece with something in a stiffer, more structured fabric,” suggests Pearlstein. “For example, a pair of black skinny jeans worn under your silk robe will ground the item and make it look purposeful…another example is to pair a lacey camisole with a denim or leather jacket.” “You want to achieve that push and pull of lingerie versus real life,” adds Pearlstein. READ: How to Wear Lingerie as Outerwear (Without Being Risque) You can also pull a Del Toro or Rihanna and rock the prettiest robe in your closet with strappy heels and some jewels. Rest assure, all eyes will be on you. For some inspiration, check out Del Toro’s latest look below:
