One of the first buildings that bore the name of Miami architecture firm, Arquitectonica, was the Atlantis condo building – the playful design of which included mirrored sides, colorful highlights and a cutout with a large palm tree in it. Featured in the opening credits to the television show, "Miami Vice," it helped to define how the world viewed South Florida style. Thirty years later, the firm, founded by a group of friends who trained at Ivy League schools – a few of whom, like the Peruvian-born Bernardo Fort-Brescia, are Latinos – is still setting the pace in Magic City.
