    Classic Margarita This one, from the International Bartenders' Association, is the only 'rita recognized by that august body.  Enjoy—but in a smaller glass than seen here, please; you have work tomorrow. Ingredients 3.5cl Tequila 2.0 cl Cointreau 1.5 cl Fresh lemon or lime juice Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into chilled cocktail glass rimmed with crusted salt.

    Partida Margarita Napa, CA's Beer Wench, a self-described "artisanal spirit snob," on Monday tweeted out her own classic recipe: "anejo tequila/ squeeze of lime/ agave nectar/ rocks." This recipe, from premium spirits distillery Tequila Partida, sticks close to that formula. Ingredients 1.5 oz Partida Blanco 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice 3/4 oz Partida Organic Agave Nectar 3/4 oz Water Shake all ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or over fresh ice into an old-fashioned glass. Taste for balance.

    Distrito Margarita  This one comes from award-winning Jose Garces' Mexico City -themed restaurant in Philadelphia, Distrito. 1.5 oz Blanco Tequila 1 oz Fresh Lime juice .75 oz Triple Sec .75 oz Simple Syrup Combine all ingredients over ice. Shake well. If you enjoy your margarita on the rocks fill up a glass of ice and strain margarita over the ice. If you prefer your margarita up then strain your margarita into a martini glass and enjoy.

  • Herradura Watermelon Apple Margarita
    Watermelon and Apple Margarita This tangy, fruity version comes from mixologist and Tequila brand ambassador Mark Drew. Ingredients:  2 oz 100% agave silver tequila  1/2 oz Lime juice  1/2 oz Agave syrup  1 oz Watermelon juice  1 oz Apple juice  1 Apple fan   Place all liquid ingredients in a Boston glass. Shake hard and strain into an Old Fashioned glass Garnish with an apple fan and enjoy!

    Persimmon Margarita  El Paso, Texas natives Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack and Veronica Gonzalez-Smith are sister foodies writing a cookbook with their mother, Evangelina Soza. This recipe is from the blog and forthcoming book titled Muy Bueno: Three-Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor. (These are also the gals who concocted the Cranberry Margarita and the Prickly Pear Margarita on this list). Ingredients1 3/4 ounce tequila reposado 2–3 non-astringent persimmons, such as fuyu, peeled 1/2 ounce Agave Nectar or simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved) 1 ounce lime juice, freshly-squeezed Ice cubes Cinnamon-sugar for glass rims Lime wheel for garnish On a salad plate, make a cinnamon and sugar mixture for the glass rim. Wet the rim of a margarita or martini glass with a lime wedge and dip it in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Puree persimmons (remove skin), in a blender or juicer. Add agave nectar or simple syrup to taste. In a shaker, combine the tequila, 2 ounces of persimmon puree and the lime juice. Shake the mixture with ice and strain into the cinnamon and sugar rimmed glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

    Prickly Pear Frozen Margarita Finally, something for the frozen margarita aficionados, from the authors of the forthcoming Muy Bueno Cookbook (who also brought you the Cranberry Margarita and the Persimmon Margarita). Makes 6.Ingredients3 ½ cup crushed ice 3 ounces freshly-squeezed lime juice 3 ounces frozen limeade 6 ounces Silver Tequila 4 ½ ounces Triple Sec 4 prickly pears, peeled and sliced 3 tablespoon agave nectar Lime wedge and coarse salt for garnishDirectionsBlend prickly pears with a little bit of water. Strain into a bowl and discard seeds. In a blender, add crushed ice, lime juice, limeade, tequila, triple sec, prickly pear puree, and agave nectar; cover and pulse ingredients. Pour into a coarse-salt rimmed margarita glass; add a lime slice for garnish and serve immediately.

  • cranberry tequilla muy bueno
    Cranberry Margarita Also from Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack, Veronica Gonzalez-Smith and Evangelina Sozath, authors of the Muy Bueno Cookbook blog and forthcoming book by the same name. (These are also the gals who concocted the Persimmon and the Prickly Pear Margaritas on this list).You can make this a virgin by replacing the tequila and Grand Marnier with 2 ounces sparkling cider. Ingredients for Cranberry Puree 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice, about 4 oranges 1 cup sugar 1 16 ounce package of fresh cranberries Directions In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar in the orange juice. Add the cranberries and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Set aside and let it cool. Blend cranberries in a blender, then strain to make the puree Ingredients for 1 drink1 ½ ounces of your favorite tequila ½ ounce of Grand Marnier 2 ounces of cranberry puree Directions In a shaker add crushed ice, 1 1/2 ounces of tequila, 1/2 ounce of Grand Marnier, 2 ounces of cranberry puree and shake to mix. Pour drink into a sugar rimmed martini glass. Add a cranberry swizzle stick for garnish. Ingredients for Cranberry Swizzle Sticks 10 skewer sticks 1 16 ounce package of fresh cranberries 1 cup of light Karo syrup 1 cup of granulated sugar DirectionsSkewer several cranberries onto 10 skewer sticks but leave enough skewer exposed on one end. Lightly brush each cranberry skewer with Karo syrup and then sprinkle granulated sugar over the cranberry skewers. Place the cranberry swizzle sticks on wax paper and place in the freezer to set.

    Spring Break Margarita The folks at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville take National Margarita Day so seriously, they've started an annual contest for the best NMD recipe. This year's winner, below, was sent in by Joanne Koeneke. Too lazy to mix it yourself? It'll be served at Margaritavilles nationwide.  Ingredients: 1.5 oz Silver tequila .5 oz Paradise Passion fruit 3 oz Margarita mix ½ cup frozen mixed berries Place all ingredients in blender cup. Add ice and blend until smooth. Garnish with fresh pineapple wedge.
