Just like regular people, these stars were addicted to cigarettes. But through different means of therapy, they fought the urge to smoke and quit the nasty habit - for good

    Recently on The Tonight Show, Jay Leno asked the president if he had quit smoking. 
    "I did. I did, definitely," Obama replied. "It's out." Obama's physician, Captain Jeffrey Kuhlman, confirmed this in a report following a medical exam at the National Naval Medical Center. Kuhlman said Obama eats a healthy diet and only consumes alcohol in moderation.

    Whoopi Goldberg, actress, comedian and cohost of "The View," said she weaned herself off cigarettes one year as a Christmas gift to herself. "I saw this commercial where these little kids were lying in bed . . . and one of the kids breathes and the smokes comes out. Something about seeing those little kids exhale that smoke made me think, 'OK, Whoop, maybe it's time to stop.'"

According to USA Today, Shubentsov's method includes bioenergetics, a healing life force that circulates within all living things.

"I don't do anything exciting or dangerous really. I quit smoking, that was my last real vice. But I do like iced green tea - but that is so boring," he said.

    Model Christy Turlington decided to stop smoking after she lost her father to a smoking-related disease, she blogged on easyquitsystem.com. Turlington said she was 13 when she first lit up - and no one seemed concerned that such a young girl was smoking. She said she used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. "After a while I was finding myself far too short of breath for my years," she wrote. "My skin had a sallow complexion, and dullness. My hair and skin smelled all the time and my teeth needed to be cleaned more frequently than usual."  Turlington said she has no desire to return to smoking, and she's given up alcohol as well.

    Actor Jon Hamm, who plays smoker Don Draper on "Mad Men," told People Magazine he "despises" cigarettes.  "I quit smoking when I was 24," Hamm told People. "It's glamorous on film, but it's not glamorous waking up and smelling like an ashtray."
