Amid the final preparations for the first presidential debate between President Obama and Mitt Romney, we thought it fitting to take a closer look what the two candidates are really made of. Here's a look as how artists portray the candidates through food items--maybe the very munchies you'll find yourself snacking on as you watch these two go head to head.
- Obama and Romney Made From Cheetos Cheeto’s just released two portraits of the presidential candidates constructed entirely out of its cheesy snack. It took artist Jason Baalman 100 hours to glue each of the 4,000 Cheetos onto black canvases to create their cheesy likeness. The snack company is asking the public to vote for their favorite candidate in its “Commander in Cheese” poll. Two lucky contestants can win the 3-foot-by-4 foot food portraits.read moreAPShare
- Obama Made of Cheese Food artist Prudence Staite made this edible sculpture of President Obama back in 2010. Staite's other works include Cheryl Cole and Dita von Teese. - Romney and Ryan Made Out of Corn Field This is an honorable mention, because after all corn is food, even though this portrait is technically crop art. Michigan farmer Hank Choate had Idaho crop artist Shawn Stolworthy carve portraits of Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan into a corn field.
