Worst Reality Stars Turned Singers
These reality stars should stick to their day jobs. Wait, they don't really have day jobs. Uh oh.
Ever wonder what it takes to land a recording contract? Apparently all you need is your own reality television show. From Kim Kardashian to Heidi Montag, here is a list of the top 15 worst reality stars turned pop singers. Listen at your own risk.read moreKim Kardashian/Pratt Productions/Warner Music GroupShare
Kim Kardashian - "Jam (Turn it Up)" Kim knew she was stepping out of her comfort zone when music producer The Dream asked her to record a song with him. "[The Dream said] let's just have fun...Don't take yourself seriously, try something you've never done before," Kim told Ryan Seacrest. At least this weak tune was for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds were donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Click here to listen to the single.read moreKim KardashianShare
Heidi Montag - "Body Language" "I've wanted to do music since I could talk," Montag told MTV News. "This is the biggest dream of my life." She might want to get a new dream. Heidi's debut album, Superficial, sold a mere 1,000 copies in its first week. One reason to listen to the song is to hear Heidi's hubby, Spencer, make his rapping debut. No really, it's worth it. Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" Hilton's self-titled debut album, Paris, managed to snag a spot on the Billboard 200 at number six. The single also reached a top ten status in 17 different countries. However, if you blinked you probably missed the heiresses' failed attempt at pop stardom. Her album sold an unimpressive 75,000 copies in the United States. Click here to watch the music video.read moreWarner Bros RecordsShare
Countess LuAnn de Lesseps - "Money Can't Buy You Class" And it can't buy you a good voice either. Even auto-tune can't save this Real Housewife's vocals. Also, we're not so sure what's classy about a mother of two draping herself over shirtless twenty-somethings. But we'll have to consult the Countess' etiquette book to be sure. Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino - "The Situation" After releasing his self-titled single debut, we're beginning to think "the" and "situation" may be the only two words in the Jersey Shore star's vocabulary. We already know he can't dance after his short stint on Season 11 of Dancing With the Stars and now it seems the 'The Situation' is attempting to become a triple threat - reality star, dancer and now singer. After listening to his single, he should probably hope the Jersey Shore gets picked up for a few more seasons because we're certain his rapping career will be short lived. Spencer Pratt - "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Outta Here" Self-dubbed, the "white Jay-Z," Spencer's debut single became the theme song for the show of the same name which featured him and his wife, Heidi Montag. Clearly the reality star has a loose definition of the term "celebrity." Sick of all the judgment, Pratt released a second single called, "I get doe." "Spencer Pratt... b*tch. I bet you think because you saw me on the TV that you know my whole life story. Let me tell you something you might not know, f**k what you talkin' about, b*tch I get doe," he raps. We don't know what "I get doe" means either. Either he understands female dear, or he can't spell. Click here to check out the music video.read morePratt Productions, LLC.Share
Brooke Hogan - "About Us" After being dropped from several record labels, you would think the reality star turned actress/singer would give up on her failing music career. Instead, Brooke has released two albums and seven singles. Her first album, Undiscovered, peaked at #28 on the Billboard 200. Her second album, The Redemption, topped at #144. That's not really redemption. Click here to watch the music video.read moreSobe Entertainment/FontanaShare
Kim Zolciak - "Tardy for the Party" Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak dropped her first single back in 2009, after failing to release what would have been her debut country album. We're not sure why, but the reality star was asked to perform on The Wendy Williams Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show and at the White Party 2010 in Palm Springs, CA alongside fellow pop singer, Ke$ha. Make sure you don't miss out on Kim's other singles, "Google Me" and "Ring Didn't Mean a Thing." Click here to listen to the single.read moreKim ZolciakShare
Simon van Kempen - "I Am Real" Another "Real Housewife" star is out to prove that he can sing! Real Housewives of New York's Alex McCord's husband dropped his first single earlier this year, and the real husband says the song suits him perfectly. "It's cheeky and catchy and captures my four years on reality TV," he told Popeater.com "Gold and diamonds glitter. But the taste is slightly bitter. When wives attack behind my back, they trash me on the Twitter," he sings. We're not sure what's worse...the lyrics or the pants. Click here to listen to the single.read moreJSM MusicShare
Angelina Pivarnick - "I'm Hot" As if being exiled from the Jersey Shore house wasn't humiliating enough, the "Kim Kardashian of Staten Island" ventured out into the world of pop music when she released her debut single, "I'm Hot" in 2010. "I’m hot, so hot, I’d like an ice cream cone with a cherry on top," she whines. They put cherries on ice cream cones? Didn't know that. Kelly Osbourne - "Papa Don't Preach" I guess papa didn't teach her anything about singing, either. Kelly certainly did not inherit her father, former Black Sabbath front man Ozzy Osbourne's chops. But that didn't stop her from releasing three albums and five singles, including "Changes," which she recorded with her proud pop. The wannabe singer might want to pursue a career in dance instead - she came in third on Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars. Click here to watch the music video.read moreSonyShare
Kevin Federline - "Lose Control" Being married to the Queen of Pop does not entitle you to your own music career. K-Fed's album received some of the worst reviews in music history, forcing the singer to literally give away free tickets at a House of Blues concert in Chicago. David Hasselfhoff - "Hooked on a Feeling" The Baywatch alum has released 14 albums since his 1985 debut with Night Rocker. The "Hooked on a Feeling" music video is a must see. It features the Hoff in what appears to be an abominable snowman meets polar bear suit, surfing imaginary waves. We would say stick to reality TV, but Hasselhoff's show was cancelled after two episodes due to failed ratings. Click here to watch the music video.read moreMusicrama/KochShare
Tila Tequila - "I Love You" As if two seasons of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila weren't enough from this pint-sized reality star, Tila released her single "I Love You," in February of 2007. But don't confuse Tila with fellow reality star-turned-singer, Heidi Montag. The Shot at Love star says she was first and foremost a singer before MTV snatched her up for own show. “I think that there’s still that group that knew that before 'Shot of Love,' they knew I did music first. So I am not looked at like Heidi Montag, etc. who did reality first and now are trying music,” Tequila said. Whatever! Click here to listen to the single.read moreStratArtShare
Ali Lohan - "All The Way Around" Ali's not the only Lohan to dream of pop stardom. Her half-sister, Ashley Horn, was recently spotted recording her yet to be released single titled, "Play With The Boys." And older sis Lindsay took a stab at a career in pop music, releasing two albums back in 2004-2005. Let's hope Ali doesn't continue to follow in her older sister's footsteps.
