Royal Wedding To Snub Some Big English Stars

Let the countdown begin! Prince William and Kate Middleton will wed on April 29.
Britain's Prince William and his future princess, Kate Middleton, were set to snub a number of celebrities who were hoping for invitations to the couple's upcoming wedding, The Sun reported Wednesday.
The guest list of around 5,000 was not expected to include stars such as The Beatles' Sir Paul McCartney and Oscar-nominated actress Dame Helen Mirren.
Prince William, 28, and Middleton, 29, were thought to be planning to limit invitations to family, friends and people who played a direct part in either their public or private lives.
However, a few famous faces were expected to be invited to the April 29 ceremony at central London's Westminster Abbey, including "Candle in the Wind" singer Elton John and LA Galaxy soccer player David Beckham -- who are both friends of the prince.
"William and Kate have agonized over who to invite," a royal source said. "They have drawn up a list of roughly 2,000 people they feel should be there. There's no room for the great and good you might normally see at society weddings."
A further list of 3,000 people was being drawn up by the office of the Lord Chamberlain -- one of the chief officers of the royal household -- but it will mainly consist of lawmakers, public figures and foreign dignitaries.
