In Treatment
9/8c HBO
Once five episodes per week, the third season of this cerebral drama is narrowed to four, but that doesn't make the material any less compelling. In the premiere, Paul (Gabriel Byrne) meets Sunil (Irrfan Khan), a Calcutta widower now living in the U.S, and, in the episode immediately following, Frances (Debra Winger), an actor who keeps forgetting her lines. In tomorrow's second episode, Paul sees a new therapist (Amy Ryan) for a sleeping-pill prescription and to talk about — what else? — Dr. Gina Toll. — Joe Friedrich
Dancing with the Stars
8/7c ABC
The stars let loose on the ballroom dance floor tonight as they dance to rock songs. However, the always-groovy Mrs. Brady will not be among those rockin' out, as Florence Henderson was voted out last week. The seven remaining celebrities have now made it halfway through the 10-week competition, which is quite a feat. But things only get harder from here on out: The number of dances increases, the judges expect more and the competitors get more intense. — Jennifer Sankowski

Two and a Half Men
9/8c CBS
Liz Vassey, who played Wendy Simms on CSI, appears as Charlie's latest (and slightly older) lady friend. The age difference seems insignificant, especially when the date is as beautiful as Vassey, but for some strange reason, it troubles Charlie. — Bill Ecklund
Monday Night Football
8:30/7:30c ESPN
In a gridiron rematch of baseball's Yankees-Rangers series, the New York Football Giants visit the busy sports complex in Arlington, Texas, where Jerry Jones' dream of his Cowboys playing a home Super Bowl come February is off to a nightmarish start. Yardage statistics suggest Dallas is the greatest 1-4 team of all time, having outgained all five of its opponents, including a margin of over 100 yards in all four losses! But oh-so-untimely turnovers have America's Team staring at a must-win-or-Jerry-will-explode against the division-rival G-Men (4-2), who are bidding for a Lone Star State sweep after romping in Houston on Oct. 10. — Roger Leister

Included are comments by Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Zombie. — Bill Ecklund
