    Mindy McCready Country singer Mindy McCready died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot to the head Sunday. She was 37, the mother of two young sons.     Baseball Scandal In 2008, Mindy confirmed a long-term affair with now-retired pitcher Roger Clemens. The New York Daily News reported that Clemens had a decade-long relationship with McCready that began when she was a teen-age aspiring singer and he was a Boston Red Sox star.     Troubled Singer Mindy's big problems began in 2004, when she pleaded guilty to various drug charges. She was fined, given community service, and put on probation.  The singer was hospitalized in 2005 after being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend -- who wound up charged with attempted homicide.  In 2007, Mindy was given a one-year jail sentence for violating her probation.  After all that, she appeared on VH1’s reality TV series "Celebrity Rehab 3."
