The always-fun CMT Music Awards had a star-studded list of nominees in seven categories in 2016, including a new one for Social Superstar. Unsurprisingly, The night’s first win went to Carrie Underwood for Female Video of the Year for “Smoke Break.” Underwood is well-known for her innovative and creative music videos.
On Wednesday morning, the night’s most coveted category — Video of the Year — was narrowed down from 12 finalists to just six, with Blake Shelton, Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Tim McGraw in the final running.
Underwood was nominated for three 2016 CMT Music Awards in total, including Video of the Year, while Stapleton, Bryan and TR also received several nods.
